this story was so unserious 😂 like it was a 50/50 gamble for me. people are either going to hate it or absolutely love it and i’m so thrilled it was the latter 😂♥️ i don’t usually dabble with OCs in my fics, but this one time it turned out affectionately hilarious and everyone loved Emad (including me lol) it was so fun basing this fic on a local movie and making henry and alex visit real life locations here where i live and imagine what their experiences would be like 🥹♥️

My first ever participation in a big bang, the longest work I’ve written so far in the rwrb fandom, and also my first time writing a spy au! Writing this story wasn’t easy, because I wanted to capture the essence of Henry and Alex’s characters in a world that’s so different from the book, and I think I did alright :) I loved exploring the lengths to which Henry’s grief for his father would go if placed in different circumstances. I also loved writing the action scenes for this fic because I’m such a visual reader, so like- if the image doesn’t immediately flash in the reader’s mind when they read my works, then I’ve fallen short of what I’m doing. I expected this story to do much better than how it did, but I’m also grateful for everyone who gave it their time 🤍

Uhhh, I usually like to keep these a surprise so I don’t end up overpromising 😂 BUT since I have a couple of chapters outlined, we’re getting prince henry x head of security team alex (here’s the prompt) it’s going to be absolute shenanigans!!!

Last Song: at the time of starting this i'm currently listening to Death of Me by Citizen Soldier. at the time of finishing this, i am currently listening to Isolate by Citizen Soldier

Last Book: last book i finished? This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone! i loved it so so much, would absolutely recommend! (also gonna be honest, as i was just getting back into writing at the time of reading it, i kinda couldn't help but picture Sara and Ava as Red and Blue lmao BUT it was a really really good book regardless, whether i was tying it in with LoT or not lol). anyways, i am also Currently reading Magician: Apprentice by Raymond E Feist, the first book in the Riftwar Saga, which my dad recommended me to read. i'm getting close to finishing it and it's pretty good! i've enjoyed it so far! after that i'll be onto Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin, so we'll see how that one goes!

Last Movie: Big Business! My parents and I actually Just watched it earlier today lol. my dad had already seen it but my mom and I hadn't so we watched it :)

Last Game: uhhh probably MonopolyGO lmfao

Last TV Show: just watched tonight's episode of Tracker with my mom! before that it was an episode of Legends, because we're always perpetually in a rewatch of that at any given time, and before That it was a few episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine with my dad! (but if you mean last tv show i watched/finished in full then uhhhh??? hmm i'm not sure. may have been Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?)

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: definitely savory. i don't mind some spice, i guess, if it's like seasoned fries, but i also almost definitely have ARFID so i have a very Very limited selection of foods that i like/eat. slowly trying to work on that a bit. very slowly. i used to have much more of a sweet tooth than i do now but it's died down a lot lately. i still like some sweet things but i crave them a lot less and i seem to have a threshold for how much of it i can tolerate in a given time period so. mainly i just lean towards and crave savory stuff.

Relationship: oh so so so incredibly single and i do not see that changing Any time soon. though. there is gonna be a new lesbian bar opening up not absurdly far from my town sometime in the spring i think, so. maybe. who knows.

Where do you get inspiration for your fics?

Okay now THIS is an interesting question

I may have to sit cross legged on a chair for this (don't ask, it's my "I'm going to explain something to you without a pause and also be partially talking to myself for the next ten minutes" way of sitting). But I'll try to keep it brief lol

Now, a lot of the time, fic ideas just hit me like some sort of divine, prophetic vision. I see two (or more) characters and go "Hmmmm, what if". A good example of this is my planned Merlin-Torchwood Crossover AU where Ianto falls through the Rift and ends up in Camelot (shenanigans follow)

However, another huge source of inspiration is REALLY SHITTY AND/OR EMOTIONAL ENDINGS. YES COE DAY FOUR I AM LOOKING AT YOU! I mean obviously there is Time Will Change You which I uh... Need to continue. And some other fix it fics that live in my head rather than through plans, or things that I can't yet reveal

And theeeeen I have ideas that form when I'm reading other fics. I read an Owen and Ianto as brothers fic once and it was NOT to my liking (I don't even bloody know what happened in that but it got dark in an off topic so quickly), so I decided "Oh I love this concept of Owen and Ianto being brothers so I'm going to write my own seeing as Ao3 is giving me like nothing"... And then I started planning Bad In Your Blood lmao (this is also going to be a fix it obviously)

My Torchwood Fan Week prompts were very much a "What can I write in like two hours that's a bit different from everything else?" Then I just rolled with it 90% of the time. Except for Someone I Have Loved But Never Known. I had that planned RIGHT from the start because it's sort of like a prologue to Let It Fade Away (I love Mica and the Nth Doctor so much it's unhealthy I need to get writing 1. Ferry of the Forgotten)

Finally, I suppose the biggest inspiration (particularly for titles) is music. ESPECIALLY songs by The Crane Wives. Actually I may be about to infodump on the titles so uhhh buckle in I guess:

From the song Caleb Trask (by The Crane Wives). Somewhat based on the character Caleb Trask from the novel East of Eden, who mirrored the biblical brothers Cain and Abel. Fun fact, BIYB was very close to being called "Daughters of Sinners, Sons of Saints" but I felt that Bad In Your Blood fit better. This may or may not be foreshadowing

One of my favourite songs from Beyond Beyond Beyond by The Crane Wives. Title of the song is the same as the fic. I see this as such a Torchwood song for obvious reasons. What more could I want as a title for a CoE fix it where Ianto is saved and becomes a Companion? This one wasn't as much inspiration as a fitting title to be fair

...Can't really give lyrics to this one. The chorus is just 'I try to let it fade away' repeated over and over.

From Ancient History by (you guessed it!) The Crane Wives. This is for my Companion!Mica fic. And oh my god when I realised how well this fits... Genuinely so good. Some subtle foreshadowing in the other lyrics. But has inspired a couple individual scenes in the chapters/episodes, ESPECIALLY Ancestree

From one of my favourite musicals (Aristos). The song is Cleopatra. Honestly more people need to know about Cleopatra because bloody hell it's one of the most beautiful things to ever bless my ears. So is the whole musical but like ESPECIALLY Cleopatra

Anyway, I've not thought about this fic in a good while but can remember some of it. If I recall correctly, the title was a foreshadow for what would happen at the end of the fic (I had planned sequels lol it was a three parter), but it was also used to mirror angel Crowley (think I had him as Raphael) and someone he was close to (I forgot his name but big demon guy but he was still an angel at this point)

I think my reasoning for it is that in Aristos, it's Patroclus singing about Phoenix telling the Greeks about Meleager and Cleopatra Halcyon (may be incorrect spellings but oh well), and Phoenix uses this to sort of convey to Patroclus how he should be begging Achilles to fight, just as Cleopatra did for Meleager (also like side note: "When you rearrange the syllables, the name she bares is mine" is SUCH a good lyric omg)

Anyway, my point of using this was: Raphael and this demon guy (I think it was like Asmodeus or something idk) were the Cleopatra and Meleager type, while Crowley and Aziraphale would become Achilles and Patroclus. Some sort of fate thing I don't know

But it also inspired the use of a shit load of Greek Mythology references (it's my interest lol I've loved it since I was like 7) and each character had a specific type of myth/mythological figure and it was great, I love using Greek Mythology metaphors

Anyway my point is, go listen to Aristos the Musical

TORCHWOOD FAN WEEK RAPID FIRE

It's the Fear, Not the Ghosts (That Leaves Me Haunted) From 'Not the Ghost' by The Crane Wives, just thought oooo ghosts really lol

Making Liars Out of Honest Men (Just Forget) From 'How To Rest' by The Crane Wives. The song is about grief and being unable to move on. This very much inspired the Gwen lying in her letters idea

Someone I Have Loved But Never Known From 'Never Love an Anchor' by The Crane Wives. It just fits. It's Mica's song 100%. Never Love an Anchor is what inspired Let It Fade Away in the first place. Obsessed with this song for Mica but you'll have to wait until the end of LIFA to fully understand lol

CONCLUSION:

Don't get Lowen talking about things because they will just talk non stop and then you end up with a block of paragraphed text that only vaguely answers the original ask

The Summer of Light. Slobo was terminally ill, he was dying, and despite all efforts from everyone, despite all our love and impact on the world in general it would never be enough to save him. The Lighthouse was him, btw.

Uhhh... Well, (spoilers) Sunshine. Falling. will have the best ending ever. But shhh. We gotta get there first. Otherwise... I think almost all my little fics have nice happy endings - particularly Funfetti Cake and Befuddled in Red.

Lol... There's this one reviewer who is totally obsessed with Sunshine. Falling. and with each chapter I upload they almost always have something nasty to say about it being Konbart. I delete it of course. And there was another person who commented on The Summer of Light (it's probably the same person) who just really thinks I should be writing another ship instead.

Yes. I want to write more.

I have not written any as of now but I don't mind them. I still feel like a Mass Effect/Star Trek crossover might be fun or a Mass Effect/LOSH fic but I need an idea first. I also might do a self indulgent Jetter Mars meets Atom fic but we'll see.

As far as I know, NO.

Always the correct choice if it is done correctly and in a way that makes sense. I've read some fics where it's just... peppered in with no real reason and it is jarring. I thought about trying to come up with Interlac words for everyone speaking Interlac but decided on not going that route and instead being sensible and just using italics.

Suggestions time!! I saw your post and this might be super late but uhhh just ignore this if you don't want it anymore!

Ok so this is super random and more of a 'just wanna chat' ask, but I've been thinking....

I've always been fascinated with self-aware aus where the characters can hear you talking to them or is just generally aware of what you do in-game??

This concept hit me hard because I play with controller on my iPad and it was brand new, but after a few weeks the left analog stick started drifting, so whenever I place it down the characters will randomly move around and I FREAKED OUT the first time that happened lol

For me, I mainly use Xiao because he's one of my first 5-stars and my main DPS, and I can imagine he would be super frustrated with me bc I'm so bad at combat and puzzles, it takes me such a long time to defeat enemies & solve the riddles lol I also accidentally climb trees/cliffs a lot and my auto response to that is always yelling "No, stop that!" and I'd imagine he would be like "???? You made me do that tf???"

There was this one time where I was at Liyue map to explore for Geoculus. I just farmed loads of artefacts for Xiao for the first time ever the day before that, but bc my brain was a little tired I sorta forgot about it. And I saw some Fatui skirmishers in a distance, which I always thought was always super hard to beat, so I was pondering outloud whether I should try to take them or not while checking some other routes to take on my laptop... And then my joystick drifted, so Xiao was just walking forward and when I realized what was happening they're already engaging in combat so I just went with it?? And surprisingly it was... Not as bad????? He was CRIT-ing all over the place and I didn't die!!! And ik it's not what happened but I like to think that Xiao somehow heard me in game and was like "you stupid mortal, I can take this, WATCH." LOL

But anyway. Self aware AUs. That's it. That's the suggestion I have lol

You always played Genshin Impact. Usually in your free time. You main XIAO. In fact, when his banner came out, you farmed for his artifacts, grinded for his ascension materials, everything! You always would have these silly thoughts of 'What if he thinks I'm stupid for sucking at beating up bad guys?' And you laughed at yourself for that. Xiao then chuckled in game and you heard. "Oh my god, that was hot-is that a secret voiceline??" You spoke to yourself.

You were exploring Liyue and saw some Fatui Skirmishers. "Ha-I bet we wouldn't be able to take them." Xiao glared and thought to himself 'Watch me.' You were gonna avoid them, but you realized you were already engaged in combat. "Dammit!" You went to fight and suddenly-Xiao started doing a bunch of crit damage all over the place! "Holy shit-and his crit rate is 45.6%!" And before you knew it, the fatui skirmishers were gone. "Told you." Xiao said. You heard and was all like '???'.

In Xiao's view, he enjoyed whenever you would play Genshin. Even if he gets annoyed when you accidentally climb trees or walls. In fact, he loves you. He gets so upset whenever you log off or have work/school. Sometimes, he'd wish he wasn't in Genshin and was in your world or vice versa, but Teyvat is quite dangerous. It's a shame he can't touch you, hug you, or kiss you.

He can't be with you.

-> i guess the bts concert movie. not that it in itself was disappointing but i found the whole movie theater experience really upsetting since everything. i haven’t been to the movies in years because of it all and when i went, my sensory overload was in overdrive and i had to step away and leave because of it so that was really upsetting because i’d been so excited for it!!

-> reading fast and being able to actually take in what i read. i realized today i’ve read five books this week and i can sit down and read one an evening, depending on what it is. and not just skim it, but actually really take it in.

Favorite story you’ve written so far: Astrophile hands down. 

Fic you were nervous to post: Between the Stars. I didn’t want it to come off like inauthentic and I don’t usually write things that dark. So I wasn’t sure how it was going to go over. I wanted to make sure I wrote it with enough respect to the feelings of all three of them and anyone who has gone through losing someone they love and being forced to start over in a new place, a new life they never intended on having.  I hope I did that. 

How you choose your titles: LOL Uhhh, “Tara. I don’t have a title. Help me. What is this story about? I don’t even knooooowwwww!” I hate picking titles. Hate it. 

Do you outline: You bet I don’t! Jk I do. Not as deeply as or well as Tara does. It’s not at all organized. It’s in random folders, different docs, I have multiple outlines I smush together. I mostly write down the big points, the main plot points I want to hit or scenes I already know I want to include and then I build around there. 

Complete: Everything but BTS, H&W and BH.... and Astrophile File which is ongoing until I die. Tara, please don’t read this. Just ignore it. Don’t look!

(I’ll revisit this one when I finish the list and update it with whatever song i’m listening to/is stuck in my head then) (ok the music has since been turned off and now I have “Status Quo” from High School Musical stuck in my head so! There ya go!) (now it is the next day, and I’ve got “when the party’s over” stuck in my head...i think these three songs are an accurate reflection of my taste in music🤣)

Last Movie: uhhhhh oh yeah, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice! It was SO GREAT because Jay Baruchel plays the main character (and the main character is super awkward), so I felt like I was watching Hiccup from the How To Train Your Dragon franchise learn magic and it was GLORIOUS. And also Nicholas Cage is great. And I liked the love interest in the movie as well!! She had a role to play in the story and felt authentic and genuine, which I appreciated!

Last Show: ok well the last show I watched by myself was Phineas and Ferb! Specifically, the episode with the Mardi Gras block party and then the one where Candace and Stacy compete in an obstacle course against Isabella and Ginger (omg wAIT ginger and Stacy are sisters and Isabella and Candace are GOING to be sisters mY HEART I—AH🥺). I hadn’t watched those episodes in forever, so they were really fun to revisit! I think the last actual show I watched was Kids Baking Championship or something, lol. (Those kids are AMAZING. So skilled!)

When i created this blog: November 2019! It was riiiight after the season 3 finale of miraculous aired and absolutely wrecked my emotions. I had some fanfic written that I’d never posted and had been thinking about making a tumblr/ao3 for awhile, and seeing the finale made me finally go, “.....you know what, yeah. The finale is aired, no more spoilers.....it’s time to make a blog.” So I did! And I posted my first fic! And I’m so happy i did :)

What Do I Post: a bunch of multi fandom stuff XD. This blog started off as 90% Miraculous, 10% other fandoms I like...but now it’s just kind of a hodgepoge of my favorite fandoms (with a focus on Phineas and Ferb, lol). I reblog a lot of posts, and then I post original stuff too! I write fanfic, nowadays for Phineas and Ferb but for Miraculous in the past (and probably in the future!), I draw art (mostly Phinabella art because I’ve been drawing them since i was 11 and it feels good to return to my roots), and OCCASIONALLY I will write an analysis post (I’ve got one in the works rn actually 👀), attempt to make a meme, or dip my toe into salt just SLIGHTLY before quickly backing away, lol. If I were to list the fandoms I post about in the order of how frequently I post about them, I’d probably say: Phineas and Ferb, Miraculous....and thennnnn everything else is pretty random and depends on the day, lol.

Other blogs: this is my only blog! Sometimes I think about making a separate blog for my art and writing, but I am not sure if I should or not....maybe I will someday, but idk. I also have an AO3 for fanfic and an Instagram for art! All are under the name “authenticcadence18.”

Do I get asks: sometimes, yeah!! Sometimes I reblog ask games/prompts and get some asks for those (I’ve got so many prompts in my inbox I want to write/draw things for...ah it’s fine, I’ll get to it eventually😅), and sometimes lovely people will leave thoughts or nice messages in my inbox🥺💕. I’ve got a specific tag for all those nice messages so I can read back over them whenever I need a boost!

Why this url: it’s a music pun! When a song/section of a piece of music ends with a dominant chord resolving to a tonic chord (if you’ve read a certain fic of mine you should know allll about dominant and tonic chords👀🤣), it’s called an authentic cadence! There are different kinds of cadences, and authentic ones are my favorite. One example of this is “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” I also use this blog to be my authentic, fandom-loving self! So I like authentic cadences, and also, I’m Cadence and using this blog to be authentic! Woo! (And 18 is just my favorite number, lol) I’m glad I ended up choosing a name that doesn’t tie to a specific fandom becaaaaaause this ended up being a multi fandom blog!

Average amount of sleep: wellllll for the past week and a half I was sick so I was probably getting 9ish hours a night (because I would sleep in really late, lol). but NOW? In my immediate future? I suspect my average amount of sleep is going to go down because I’m really bad about staying up late even when I have to get up early😅. Hoping to be good about getting at least 7ish hours a night!

Lucky number: 18! But y’all probably already guessed that, lol.

Instruments: my voice, piano, ukulele, viola (but it’s been a HOT minute), aaaand i used to be able to play guitar but then I got a ukulele and forgot all the guitar chords. (I also dabble in songwriting! I primarily use voice and piano when writing music.)

What I’m wearing: my favorite sweatshirt (that was last night, rn I have on a tanktop), some leggings, and socks!

Dream job: I’m currently learning to be a teacher, and I LOVE teaching and working with kids so that is definitely a job I’m really excited about!!! I would also love to portray characters at Disney or something (well, maybe not at Disney because I hear they’re strict, but like....I want to be Rapunzel or Anna or something, that would be so fun). OR, I would LOVE to work in tv animation somehow, be it voice acting, writing scripts/music, and/or story boarding. basically if I could do what Dan and Swampy did for Phineas and Ferb/Milo Murphy’s Law, I would LOVE THAT. (Especially the writing music part. Getting to write music for established characters and get PAID for it would be SO COOL.!.!.!) Also I think it would be so fun to write Disney storybooks! Like, those books that are about Cinderella baking a cake or Ariel befriending a seahorse, stuff like that. Those brought me a ton of joy as a child!

Dream trip: I want to visit alllll the Disney parks someday😅. (Not right now because, ya know, Covid...but someday!)

last book: I got the book Unbirthday for Christmas! It’s basically Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, but if she’d never gone to wonderland and things went horribly wrong there. (I think, I’m not that far into it yet, lol)

Top 3 fictional universes I’d love to live in: 1. DANVILLE, PLS. Especially as a kid, I SO would’ve loved to hang out with Isabella and Phineas and the rest of the gang! Danville is so vibrant and unique and people are always randomly breaking into song there, that’s my kind of place! 2. Fairytopia (from the Barbie movies!) because I could be a fairy OR a mermaid OR BOTH and eat seeweed to breathe underwater even if I wasn’t a mermaid. Like, that’s the dream right there. (I’ve always loved mermaids and fairies, lol!) 3. Maybe San Fransokyo from Big Hero 6? All of the technology in that universe is really cool! And I would love to eat a noodle burger, lol .

1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or blue pen? black ideally but like, whatever’s there in practice? i seem to have got hold of an aqua blue bastard right now and i feel somewhat foolish

2. Would you prefer to live in the country or city? i love the country but i need to be in a city where everything is convenient and it feels like im part of.... something at least. the idea of being far from amenities is quite frightening to me given how paranoid i can be lmao

3. If you could learn a new skill what would it be? i know i already play guitar but i would like to be actually genuinely good at it rather than mediocre. i also would like to be better at doing makeup, and i’d really love to be able to make my own clothes alas i can’t even work a sewing machine

39. If you had to have a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it? urgh i know exactly what i would get and if covid/money/parental expectations truly were no object i’d be getting little fragments of cathedral architecture from all the cities i’ve lived in tattooed on my wrists.
