oh on the topic of chappell roan i wanna talk about how i think the discourse about mlm ship content featuring "good luck babe" is dumb.

yes the song itself is about a lesbian whose ex girlfriend is in a compulsory heterosexual relationship, and as such wlw relationships and womanhood and femininity will always be intrinsically relevant and crucial to the song's meaning and importance (especially concerning the phrase, "you're nothing more than his wife", as the status of being "just his wife" is much different from the status of being "just her husband" in a cultural & social sense), but mlm also experience compulsory heterosexuality and thus may heavily relate to the song; and personally, i don't think it's such a bad thing that they relate to it.

i feel like i should also mention that i'm not specifically only talking about cisgay men either; trans men (both binary and nonbinary) also experience the social pressure of feeling as if they need to "prove" they're "real men", which is often equated with being in a heterosexual relationship, and from what i've seen in my own experience online it's become normal for others to mock and belittle men for "never having felt a woman's touch" or getting "no bitches" (among other vaguely comphet & misogynistic "haha funny meme" statements). additionally, men are still relentlessly bullied for being gay. for as many allies and fictional mlm enjoyers there are, there's 10 more school bullies that harass their peers for their sexuality, 10 more parents who kick their sons out for trusting that their family will accept them for who they are, and 10 more dudebros that regularly make homophobic jokes to the discomfort of their closeted friends. even men in mlm relationships are forced into traditional heterosexual roles by others' expectations; i.e., the "who's the man in the relationship" question, the expected/"ideal" mlm couple being a feminine twink and a masculine "real" man (especially when one of the men in the relationship is trans)

in my opinion, i think that while chappell roan's music is heavily based off of being a lesbian and being in relationships with other women (since she is one herself), it's also representative of the general queer experience, and thus relating to it and making art dedicated to it shouldn't be reserved for just one group of people. no amount of animatics or edits posted on twitter or tiktok or anywhere can erase the original context of the song.

additionally if you don't like when people make such content featuring the song, you can just opt to ignore it or block the person who created the content rather than calling them "misogynistic" or "lesbophobic" for relating to a song. it takes much less time and effort.

You grit your teeth against the sharpness of the stone, holding your weight long enough for Luffy to get a hold on the cliff face himself. Three quarters of the way there.

He pants. “Thanks.”

“No problem,” you mutter, and hide your face between his shoulder blades.

He climbs the rest of the way, and neither of you have another problem scaling the sheer wall surrounding Udon’s base. Luffy sighs, landing on his stomach once he pulls both of you up onto the ledge. You unwrap your limbs from his sweaty, shaking body before crawling off to collapse on your own.

“Cmon,” he croaks, grabbing your hand, “Can’t stop now.”

So you get up, and start walking.

All the way back to his ship.

After the war (which you sorta help with, in your injured, post-prison state) he takes you back to his ship for good.

I didnt immediately look them up, but the song slowly grew on me to the point where I had listened to it a bunch and still couldnt understand some of them, and Im so glad I did look them up, a lot of the ones I couldnt/couldnt quite hear are really important.

My favorite one is "take his body as a relic to be canonized // and so he gets to die a saint but she will always be the whore" which Genius claims is a reference to the whore of Babylon, which I didnt know about (raised in a "progressive" church that didnt deal much with that un-PC stuff). It gets at a big reason Ive always disliked The Church and *part* of why I eventually left (misogyny), and it evokes relics (pieces of the bodies of saints) which, though historically significant, as a big proponent of bodily autonomy even in death, are really weird to me.

My second favorite are the references to the tower of Babel, I like that myth bc I think its funny when the bible "borrows" from other belief systems and I can see a lot of Greek-Myths-about-Human-Hubris in it. Its a pretty human story to tell, you can see it all over, and early christianity loves it bc it was still on that old testament "You Must Fear God and Never Aspire to Be Like Him" shit, BUT this one in particular just strikes me as so similar to Icarus. Trying to reach the sky but your efforts fall? Yeah

I really heavily associate this song with specifically season 4 of stranger things (to the point where I wonder if its intentional, they both came out around the same time) with the swarm/decay aesthetics, and the metal (tho obv not the same subgenre dont come at me), so I think if you like that and/or Faith by ghost youll like this song. If youve listened to both songs Im really curious: did you catch the similarity between the "faith is mine" and "against faith" lines bc when I heard it and realized I was like WAIT :O

I dont think ive mentioned this at any point but Im actually really obsessed elisabeth but I cant engage with it at all or even think too hard about it without feeling like Im gonna start biting people. like, ive been making a lot of tanz der vampire posts and whenever one of my original posts gets interacted with I go and check the account because Im a freak like that and surprise surprise, people who like that musical also often like elisabeth, theres one account in particular who might even recognize me because its a fairly small fandom, and whenever I look at their account Ive always completely forgotten that they post a lot about elisabeth and I get jumpscared and have to very quickly click away as my heartrate inexplicably spikes for a second. I think the reason my brain is so weird about letting me enjoy it is that it is rpf and also german in origin. or well its from austria but you know what I mean. the whole vibe of the take on me video is upbeat. happy. theyre dancing around, its half animated but with pencil drawings like a teen would doodle on school books, its carefree, its goofy, its all over the place. 

the music is also upbeat and happy, it makes you wanna dance and get up and vibe

combining video, music and lyrics, the song is about being young. its about being alive, having your whole life ahead of you. taking on the world, being young and in your prime and prepared to give it your all. its happy, its looking forward to the future but enjoying and loving the now. its having options, choice and freedom, to live your life how you want to. 

this is what top gun is at heart. its about being young and in your prime, competing, living life to the fullest. its energy, motivation, but in the end its also growing up. its seeing the worst life can do to you (goose) and recognising it but moving on, finding comfort in your youth and letting go of your responsibilites. 

its the beauty of life, of strength and just the general vibe of the 80s. friendship and love and loss and the beauty of being young. its saying ‘i have my whole life left to live, and nothing can stop me’ 

to understand the next part, i kinda like to thing of the ‘85 version as the soundtrack of top gun. its the 86ers song, its their vibe.

modern times. basic again

we gotta focus on the actual musicians now. its the same guys singing, just 40 years older. the same song, just looking back instead of forward. by changing the key and tempo of the song, theyve created a whole new vibe. same lyrics, same guitar, just slower. sadder. they've calmed down, lost some of their energy

the unplugged versions looks back on a life well lived instead of forwards, to a life ahead. its reflecting on all the bad things that have happened and accepting them

in the end, theyre both about acceptance. this is very important. both versions of the song are about accepting everything that life has to offer, everywhere that life can or has taken you. ‘slowly learning that life is ok’

except, where ‘85 version is eagerly accepting and awaiting, unplugged is sadder. not regretful, just sadder. more thoughtful. theyre older, wiser, they recognise how life has changed them, for better or worse. they dont regret their life (its no better to be safe than sorry), they just see what it as it is. lived. over. theyre out of their prime, its a new generation now. 

but at the same time, its also rebellion. theyre old, not dead, they still have fight left in them (take on me, take me on). theyre still standing, a few decades hasnt changed that. 

now tell me, am i describing Take On Me (MTV Unplugged) or Top Gun: Maverick? 

mav regrets pulling gooses papers, but theres nothing he can do about it now. he has to accept life for what it is. he has to accept ice is dying, that hes dead. he has to accept hes old. and rooster has to accept life for what it is too. he needs to realise the past is in the past, the carole and goose are gone and mav is all he has left. Mav pulled his papers. There's nothing he can do about it now

top gun maverick is about growing up, getting old, how life changes a person. its seeing how everyone around you is older, no longer in their prime. the younger generation has centre stage now, but youre still there. your still fighting. youve made mistakes, youve fucked up but your still here bc thats how life works. You're quieter, the background to their lead, but you're still there

think of it as a cycle. in every movie theres an older generation, and a younger generation. the top gun movies focus on one of those generations, following them from young to old, and the song changes with them. 

the 86ers song is take on me, and it follows them, adapting with them. 

now we’re getting a bit more far fetched, but lets say the ‘22 teams song is i aint worried. its got a similar vibe to take on me, but with a 2020s twist instead of 80s synth pop. its carefree, they literally aint worried. its happy, its upbeat, it makes you wanna dance.

now we look at these songs in contrast. take on me unplugged and i aint worried are playing side by side, the older and younger generations. once upon a time, take on me had the same vibe but its grown up. and one day, i aint worried will have the same fate

one day, i aint worried will be an old timey song, the same nostalgic vibe as the og take on me has now, the same vibe as top gun has now. bc top gun is retro, its 80s. rn, tgm is new, its fancy, but it wont always be

its a cycle. its a fucking cycle. the same thing was going on in top gun 86, but with viper/jester and ice/mav/everyone else. we just dont see it, bc we're only focusing on one generation. they all parallel each other. if we we're focusing on the ‘22 team, mav and cyclone would be their viper and jester. old, important but not really. old-fashioned, out of date. but we’re not. its the 86ers story, so their song changes with them, and its what we get to see.

i dont think i mentioned that i was going to it on here, but i did see big time rush again last night with my in-laws as well as two of their sisters. it was amazing again. loved it. if they havent stopped by your city on tour yet, they’re gonna be touring for another month. check the tour dates. if you wanna go, do it, so many people told me last year they wanted to go and didn’t, so if you can go now, do it, i can’t recommend it enough. after the show, i heard a couple guys talking to one another outside the bathrooms, presumably waiting for their girlfriends. but they were saying to one another stuff like, “yeah, my girlfriend got these tickets kinda as a joke for my birthday but that was actually really amazing.” lemme tell you, those two guys were good boyfriends that night. a guy in front of us last year sucked and was whiny and dragged his girlfriend out before the encore, and you could tell it was the type of thing where he was purposefully trying not to enjoy a good time.

i’ve also never seen a band literally stop traffic like big time rush. both times. given, we saw them in mansfield, ma, which is kind of in the middle of nowhere, and gilford, nh, which is totally and completely in the middle of nowhere. and we were a stuck in traffic last night over a mile and a half from the venue for almost an hour. the opening acts started at 7. originally we were supposed to get there at 6:56 or smth and we parked at 7:43. i dont know when the opening acts actually started, the guys came out late. we got lucky enough to miss jax’s set 🙏🤍 lol. we arrived during max’s set, and he was really good, i don’t think i’d listened to him before but he was impressive. he said in the intermission he’d be waiting to meet everyone and take pictures at the merch stand and when i got up to use the restroom and get a drink and that line was by far the biggest i;d ever seen, and i worked four years at a theme park! it was literally farther than the eye can see, and as i kept walking back it kept getting even bigger than i could imagine. i’m probably gonna queue one of his songs for the coming weeks.

and one last thing about last night...... i got a bone to pick w the brand “liquid death”. y’all make it look like it’s booze on purpose. you can sell cans of water, that’s actually a great and very ethical idea, but that branding damn well makes itself look like alcohol and the very name “liquid death.” dude. i ordered a drink and also asked for a water, and the guy grabs a can from a fridge full of beers and i’m like.... this is... water? this liquid death? cause it sounds like it’s gonna get you wasted from the name. i was tryin not to give him too hard a time and he was like, “oh yeah, you’re gonna love the taste of this stuff. it actually is just water though.” and like the first part sounded a little sarcastic so i was like “....this is for my pregnant sister-in-law” and i felt like i might’ve been giving him a hard time.... you can put beverages in cans w/o them looking as much like hard seltzer or beer or cider as possible, i’m just sayin. but i tasted a sip of it and it was fine.

i try to have solutions for all kinds of motivation leeches, so heres mine:

too many ideas?: you sit on down, you got your supplies, but what idea do i start with? what should it be of? oh god my head's full- sound like you rn? my brain likes to function out the ideas fast, so i wanna do them all at once. first, write out every idea in word form, at detailed as needed (ie: "girl eating some icecream, cat, george washington fighting in the american revolution [no clue how george got here but fuck it we ball]"). see how much time youd estimate theyd take, write it beside them. how much time do you have to draw? dont cross off or erase, but put those ideas aside. do whatever seems easiest or the most fun for your brain then.

you can also simply sketch out bases for your other ideas and leave notes for things your sure to forget!

no ideas?: oc challenges are always an interesting one to work with, but if youd rather not look for one, you can always start with a pose! do a random pose, maybe even the one your currently in. listen to music while you work? draw based on the vibe the song gives you for the character. watch a show? mix your least fav and fav character look wise, or just draw one of them (memory is always helpful). dont do either? create a person in your head, and draw from that.

keep in mind you dont need to make it colored or anything, just have fun, and its not a sacrificable sin if you look up ideas and take inspo (just make sure to credit the original art if you post it online) from those!

too tired but wanna draw still?: draw out a base, sketchy works best. leave it out where you could see it in the morning. when you have the energy and time, go back to it. really simple, but simples all ya need!

minor inconvenience?: honestly, thats so fair. you could draw small tiny doodles till you feel better, or just write down the idea and draw it when you have the motivation/ arent upset anymore!

poetry is especially important to have that raw emotion in it. if we aren't pouring our hearts out in each stanza, then it's not going to leave a lasting impact.

even the most basic of tea preferences are important! tea can really soothe a person, even if it's just one cup. i don't think i've ever put honey in my tea, though. maybe just once? usually, i'm a sucker for some cane sugar when i want a sweeter cup.

lemme just say it makes me SO happy to have someone who relates to me! ive always been into The Maze Runner. Newt was my mate, rooted for him till he died. Then i rooted for Minho and was thrilled when Teresa died (she was annoyin, okay?). that's a series that ill never get sick of! i just started readin the Percy Jackson series. its okay, i dont quite see all the fuss about it? maybe it gets better further in. there was one book that i haven't read in the longest. called, Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane. it was from a series. that was the only book i had and i read it over and over. also, The spiderwick chronicles is an amazing series too! its also a movie

poetry is quite literally my way of life? people tend to get freaked out when they see me?? i either get compliments or complaints. in the UK people kinda shyed away from me cuz i wear eyeliner and am more what would be called 'punk'. but people here are pretty cut throat. some old man said that i was the child of Satan since i dressed like a demon? but a girl that same day said i had a "sexy slut waist"? and an old french lady called me "Yeux de sirène" or what she said was Mermaid Eyes. she said i could hypnotize anyone because my eyes are a really light blue. what i was getting at with this is, no one expects me to be as down to earth as i am? possibly because of my looks?

originally? it started as vocaloid series, as in a story told thrusongs, then it had a manga adaptation, anime and novels. they all vary a lil bit with consistency tho tell the same story. and that is because… each media represents a “route” the characters go through. yep. it’s a “time reset” kinda story! kagepro its what i like to call a clump story. just a bunch of stories put together. u take longer delving into each character's backstory rather than the actual main plot ig?? like, knowing everyone's backgrounds Builds the present story. it is difficult to explain 1 thing without explaining another and so on..

if you want to start somewhere I recommend listening to the songs in order, many have very cool music videos also the songs are VERY VERY GOOD.

the manga i recommend up until volume 4 chapter 18. after that it gets TOO confusing because it goes into a route thats only explored in this adaptation, while its kinda important if u REALLY wanna jump into the world of kagepro, it is VERY VERY confusing at first, like a LOT happens and differs significantly from the regular routes(and as an old fan i really was not into it that much but that’s aside the point) but the manga in the first 4 volumes at least puts the beginning more in perspective

and only then id recommend watching the anime cuz without all this the anime is VERY confusing lol the novels are good but theyre wholeass BOOKS yknow. there are 8 so it is not beginner friendly if u rly dont wanna tap into it lol even some seasoned fans haven't read them. that’s my casual kagepro fan guide. but.....

but if in the end u rly become interested and u end up reading them... hey, ur here already, and i know i told u not to finish the manga but if u just read 8 light novels i guess ur ok with reading 9 more volumes of manga!!!! and then... i’d watch the anime? because the anime, believe it or not, as shitty and as ugly as it is... possesses the GOOD ending. and bc u read 8 novels, 13 manga volumes and listened to like 5 song albums, u can watch and actually know what’s going on and u are very happy at the end bc after ALL THAT u get to see the good ending.

BY THE WAY AS FOR THE PLOT... as i said, a clump story. kagerou project isn't only difficult to understand when it comes to all its different medias, the story ITSELF is as convoluted as it comes! hurray! but the basics is, shintaro kisaragi is a shut in ever since his hs best friend ayano tateyama committed suicide. he goes out for the first time in 2 years and runs into some funny quirky people who might've been involved in ayano's life, who in return was involved in fun quirky sci-fi shit about..wow? superpowers?! maybe her suicide wasnt driven by depression but by....(SPOILER CUT)? or was it? join shintaros man angst as he learns about everything ayano left behind! you'll cry! its a REALLY sad story! with lovely characters such as:

kido kano and seto! ayano's little siblings! kido is the leader. of what? good question! kano is gay and hates shintaros guts. seto? he has jobs and better things to do. he likes dogs.

momo! shintaros little sister! she is.. a famous idol?! and... DEPRESSED?!

mary! token cute character who is...relevant to the plot!? and even...A PLOT POINT!?!

hibiya! a 12 year old who ended up here for some reason! also equally as important depending on the route, his best friend hiyori! dont worry about it. 

konoha! we dont know who this guy is. well. we do. but thats a spoiler so dont tell!!!!

and of course our lovely deuteragonist, ene!! the funny little AI living in shintaros phone who TOTALLY didnt use to be human and has a sob story of her own and totally isnt related to the mystery of konohas existence. kagepro!! call now!! ITS AWFUL IN HERE!

TL;DR — I want Mafuyu to not be an only child and want said sibling to beat Mafuyu's mom in a court battle for custody of Mafuyu, maybe get a new PjSK unit with older sibling NPC's and two of their buds.

Mizane comes home for a long bisit / graduated so she doesn't have to live in overseas land anymore

After performer sees Mizane and shuffles over, the super happy and excited face now almost void of all emotions (like a certain other black-purple haired person nearby) ((yes performer's hair is black-purple)) (((if you didn't know, Mafuyu technically has black hair, like ichika. Similarly to how like Kanade has white or silver hair not blue.)))

Mizane sorta confirms to Yuki with interjections by Niigo (minus Mafuyu) about the situation

Yuki just goes “so. The [more child friendly word for bitch that has the save vibe] is still that strict, huh...? I thought that was just for the failure kid she had before Mafuyu."

Niigo is all UNDERSTANDABLY CONFUSED AS SHIT

A few events later with way more Niigo and Mizane+Yuki bonding, Mizuki and Mizane find Yuki arguing with Mafuyu's mother ((we'll call her Madoka simply because i dont wanna type more than I need to))

Yuki is being called "a burden", "a terror" and other rather hurtful things by Madoka, hitting back with passive aggressive things based in truth.

Eventually, Madoka says if Yuki sees Mafuyu to not corrupt her and stay away, saying "my daughter doesn't need more terror in her life."

Yuki instantly hits back with "Follow your own advice then. Cause you're right, Mafuyu doesn't need more terror in their life and that's all you are.”

Madoka storms away, past the Akiyama's, grumbling about a "failure daughter".

Mizane just goes “so THAT'S why Yuki was wanting to know how much it would be to go to court here now. Welp."

Mizuki (And Kanade cause they were meeting up, so she appeared just in time for Yuki to walk over after seeing them) learn that Yuki is way about 15 years older than Mafuyu and is Mafuyu's disowned older sibling.

Why were they disowned? Cause music was the only thing that they were able to get any work done with and was good at, but because their mid grades were combined with "music is a distraction" despite being good at it, so because that was a bad influence on the baby Mafu, they were kicked out and legally disowned.

Yuki then legally changed their name from a "gross boring name" to Yuki.

And then it becomes Mizane, Yuki, Kanade, Ena and Mizuki vs Madoka as Yuki+Mizane go to court to prove child abuse and Niigo try to help Mafuyu adjust to the fact that she has a caring loving big sibling who wants Mafuyu to pursue music if she wants, or cut her hair if she wants or yadda yadda. Mostly Kanade, since its after the 3rd Anni and Mafuyu lives with Kanade.

Bonus stuff under the break

Bonus where Mizane pulls up old friends from the Legal Department of their overseas uni and we get a new unit with those four because Rhythm Games are known for after a while adding more units and even PjSK has set up for a few new ones that I person wanna see. Not sure what it would be called, probably something to sort of mirror Nightcord's darker vibe with a light one. Maybe Chasing Dawn at 1 or something like that. As a treat, they get only Miku to start and its a sekai originating only from Yuki. (Kind of a mirror to the Empty Sekai and Nightcord's story, but with a more positive outlook on how being abused can rarely do.)

As a small note here, while almost every case of mental abuse tends to end in a form of PTSD or trauma that hinders the victim after leaving, it can sometimes actually have the opposite effect. The victim can sometimes emerge from the abuse with a more knightly complex or even sometimes a hero one because they want to protect others from it. Essentially, different trauma responses.

Nightcord seems to focus on how getting out of negative trauma responses ((overmasking, excessive people pleasing, etc.)) are very strong and hard to break. The mirror side of that would be how ones that can be positive outwardly can be just as bad and soul breaking as the negative ones. And how its just as bad to get out of those ones. Or how you can turn something that seems never ending dark into something with a sliver of light. Things like that are what I'm calling "mirroring Nightcord."

The order of VS that would arrive through events would be reverse of Nightcord's (which was Rin, MEIKO, Luka, Len, KAITO) [KAITO, Len, Luka, MEIKO then lastly Rin] with only Miku to start off with as well for them. UNLESS they tried something new with the unit, in which I would like to suggest KaiMeiLuka as a starter pack and as Yuki becomes closer to being the legal guardian of Mafuyu, the three "adopt" Miku, Rin and Len.

To finish the Trifecta of sleepovers, mizuki and mafuyu were gonna hang out

Mizukis sister[who ill call mizane from this point on] is curious abt mafuyu and basically immediately sees through her persona

At one point mafuyu begins to get irritated as her hair keeps getting in the way, mizuki offers to cut it but mafuyu says no cuz mother would get mad

Insert mizuki annoying her with several ideas on how to come up with an excuse to cut it

Mizane wonders if mafuyu and mizuki are more alike than they think [perhaps the real transgenders were the friends we made along the way]

And Yada Yada Mayne mafuyu gets a haircut maybe they don't idk but the summary of this would be mafuyu is transmasc

(THIS IS A CRACK FIC DONT TAKE IT SERIOUS IM BEGGING WEIRD STUFF AHEAD YOU BEEN WARNED:)

It’s been a few days since the interviewer questioned Lin where he revealed a secret affair between him and Ron Chernow, they were not going to let this go, they had to find out more. Taking acting classes and going under the most original name they could think of ‘Alex’ Alex was now part of the cast because of story magic and talking with Daveed backstage.

“So you walked in on them?”

“Yeah…um- I don’t wanna talk about it- can we change topics ?”

“Fine. Did anyone else see?”

The immediate response was a no and so there was a dead end. The only way now was to catch them in the act, Alex prepared a camera and was determined to get a photo. Listening in they heard two people talking “Lin isn’t gonna make it tonight we have to get his understudy” the two looked around and spotted Alex “you. You’ll do. Get over in the dressing room we have twenty minutes” Alex was extremely confused but did so to not blow their cover and got ready for the show, they didn’t even know the lyrics that great.

“Don’t forget from whence you came and the world is gonna know your name! What’s your name man!?”

The spotlight was put on Alex as they slowly and nervously walked to the front and mumbled “Alexander Hamilton- my name is Alexander Hamilton and there’s some things that I forgot to do but just you wait, just you wait” the show moved forward and Alex did his best to keep up almost tripping a few times. But as the show continued they got more comfortable and were able to keep a well enough performance…until the final song.

Alex watched them and tried to finish quickly “RAISE A GLASS TO FREEEDOM!”

“HE AIMS HIS PISTOL AT THE SKY!”

Alex shouted at the same time as Leslie as they immediately jumped off the stage to chase after them

“WAIT!”

Alex was running down the hall with his camera and in costume, they immediately kicked down the door to Lin and Ron in the middle of a private moment to each other and

Lin and Ron’s eyes were immediately shocked like dears in headlights, Alex started running for the exit holding the camera pushing people past them as they practically fell through the door to the outside while hearing fast footsteps following behind. Alex stood and ran until their legs burned and hiding behind a dumpster made sure they had the photo and sighed in relief. Later making it to their apartment putting their things down and uploading the picture to their computer sending it to a J. Callander. At that moment when it was fully sent a loud knock came at Alex’s door and a voice spoke through it.

“Did you think I wouldn’t find you?”
