#if we don't see the doctor's face or reaction it can be waved off as just a Jack Being Jack thing

come to think of it another reason I'm biased towards nine might be because we never reach such beautiful casual queer vibes as the doctor + rose + jack situation again, at least not as far as I've watched. like I'm honestly not that much of a shipper but that kiss scene DOES things to me. and part of that is how loosely defined the relationship seems to be, at least maybe from jack's perspective. I can't rightly say it was wholly romantic in canon, but it sure was something - yes, rose flirted with jack way more than the doctor did when they first met, but the doctor even just being chill about jack kissing him feels significant - and I do love a quasi-romantic loosely-defined Something.
#doctor who#falderal speaks#I have stills from the jack+rose and jack+doctor kisses because I'm. normal about it#and I think we avoid seeing the doctor's face during or right after because they didn't want to shock the viewers too much?#if we don't see the doctor's face or reaction it can be waved off as just a Jack Being Jack thing#and it leaves us this sort of... almost plausible denability almost ambiguity#and again that may just be the vibe jack brings to it#it honestly makes me a little sad that he feels so different in torchwood#because I almost wanna say that pre-torchwood jack is maybe just LIKE this with his close friendships#maybe he comfortably straddles/ignores the line between friendship and romance when that's safe and welcome#(or else just falls into that with rose and the doctor specifically)#and maybe he's just lived through so much by torchwood (or lived so long in such a restrictive culture)#that he just. doesn't do that anymore. can't.#those are my feelings on it at least!#I haven't strayed into the fandom at ALL I just grew up with the show so nobody read this as reacting to any trends in the fandom pls#anyway apparently I'm mostly feral about the relationships I can think about and ship in a queerplatonic way#which will be a surprise to absolutely no-one who knows me from fandom stuff#but I hadn't thought to think about these three that way before. and it's a treat.#drafted last night just posted today#(like this was probably the first queer character and queer kiss I saw on screen and it was a nationally beloved family-friendly show)#(I'm basically obligated not to be normal about it)

i am here thinking again. what could be the moment that price catches nikolai off-guard for once? surely even the smoothest men can be caught lacking, eh?
Nik has an allergic reaction to viagra and gives Price a small fright.
cw: allergic reaction, erectile dysfunction
"Nik, ah, Nik, stop."
Price shoved Nik's shoulders and tried to shuffle up the bed from beneath him. Something wasn't bloody right. Nik was mute, none of the usual guttural moans, or slurred Russian filth, delirious with pleasure. Nik was vocal. It was part of the fun and it got Price goin' like little else.
Hell, this was the first time they had fucked in months due to a range of different reasons, from clashing missions to meetings to Nik's schedule, and Price was expecting Nik to be ravenous. Instead, he seemed to be struggling; his brow creased, his eyes foggy.
Nik slumped to the side, propped on his elbow, his big chest heaving. "John, is there... was something wrong?"
"Yeah, you, I'm worried... Nik, look at me, oi, look at me." Price grabbed Nik's chin and lifted his head from where it was tilted forward. "Bloody 'ell, you don't look right. Think it was the resta--? Nik? Nik!"
Nik stumbled from the bed, almost tripping over the tangle of blankets and pillows wrapped around his legs. He just about made it to the toilet before the expensive three course meal and the few glasses of Macallan they'd knocked back after became a wasted investment.
Price walked into the en suite after him, rubbing a warm palm over his back. "Ay, you're alrigh', deep breaths between." As Nik's body continued to seize and tense, Price looked the rest of him over. There were hives on the back of the hands grasping the toilet bowl and his skin was cold to the touch, clammy, not the flushed heat it should have been from sex. "Nik, 'm gonna call the infirmary."
"Nyet!" Nik near shouted into the toilet bowl, reaching out to grab Price just behind the knee before he could walk away. "Nyet, John... It will pass."
"Don't be a muppet. They'll give you a look over and make sure you don't need A&E." Price grabbed one of his travel mugs and filled it with water from the tap. Nik took it from him in a shaking hand and managed several gulps before slumping back against the wall, throwing the toilet seat down as he went. His chin fell to his chest, one forearm slanted across a raised knee.
"This... This is self-inflicted," Nik said. "I am already embarrassed enough."
Price squinted, sitting slowly on the toilet lid, nudging the flush down with his elbow. "Start talkin'. This ain't like you. And if I don't think you're bein' honest, I'm callin' Janie."
"She is the doctor who signed you off for your ACL surgery."
"The very same."
"I would be in trouble."
"Yeah, loads. Stop delaying."
Nik sighed, pressing his fingers into his eyes before his palm flattened to his chest. Price could see the flush of shame up his neck, the way his eyes stayed fixed on the floor rather than look up as he spoke. "I have an allergy to sildenafil."
Price wracked his brains and then huffed an incredulous laugh. "Viagra, Nik, I..."
When Nik turned his face away, swallowing, Price wanted to kick himself with steel toe-capped size twelves for being an arsehole of a partner.
"Ay, ay, don't... I'm sorry, that was... I was just... Why the fuck are you takin' viagra?"
Nik's jaw twitched from where his teeth were clenched, and he wiped one big hand down his face. The shame rolling off of him was palpable. "I am having... problems."
"Are they... Are we talkin' life-threatening problems?"
"Nyet. I simply cannot... it will not... you know," Nik waved his hand vaguely, "I... I was screened for some things. They said perhaps it is nerve damage from some shrapnel in my back, or perhaps it is all in my head, but I am... too ashamed to pursue more."
Price slipped from the toilet to sit at Nik's side against the wall, gently sliding his hand into the one dangling over his knee. Nik always spoke openly about sex, about their relationship, chuckling when Price squirmed and blushed like a prude. To watch him fumble and close up made Price's heart ache. "Why'd ya not tell me?"
Nik huffed dismissively, still looking away. "Da, how to say to your handsome, vigorous partner that you are unable to satisfy him in bed? That your body is... useless. That you are less than a man."
"Oh yeah, so the obvious solution is to take viagra, which you are violently allergic to. Absolute banger of a solution, Nik. Top marks," Price squeezed his hand, "and all this B.S. about bein' less than a man? Wind it in. It's bollocks."
"Zatknis, John..."
"Yer a smart man, Nik. But sometimes yer a..."
"...Muppet."
"Yeah, one of those," Price growled. "Yer seein' Janie in the mornin'. Not just for the allergy, for the lot."
"John, I cannot, it--"
"It could be a lot of things. Some of them more dangerous than others. Mine was stress."
Nik looked up quickly. "You have...?"
"Oh yeah. Mine stopped workin' fer about seven months five years ago. Coincided with a few large scale international fuck ups, a crammed schedule, an injury and some physio. Couldn't get it up fer the hottest piece of arse on Grindr, even if ya paid me."
"I did not know..."
"Course you didn't, we weren't exactly bumpin' uglies back then, were we?"
Nik smiled. "You have such a way with words..."
"Mhm." Price stroked his thumb over the back of Nik's hand, studying his face carefully. "You solid? No tight throat? You can breathe? There's an epipen in the first aid kit in the hallway."
"I am fine. This... It was similar when I tested it, but without the--" he gestured at the toilet, "my breathing is fine. I would... like to go to bed."
"Course." Price climbed to his feet, grunting at the clashing sensation of clicking knees and a numb arse, before helping Nik do the same. "Brush yer bloody teeth so I can kiss you."
Nik huffed softly. "Da."
When they climbed back into bed, Price kissed Nik gently, and then gathered him to his chest. Nik rested his ear over Price's heart and Price stroked his fingers through his hair. There was no fuckin' way he was sleeping that night. He'd stay awake and watch Nik sleep, listening to his slow breathing, checking the pulse at his neck. In the morning, he would let Janie eviscerate him for being so laissez faire with his health.
Then, and only then, they were gonna have a long chat about honesty, openness and trust. Cause knowing that Nik would rather poison himself than 'fail' Price in any way - regardless of how legitimate Nik felt that belief was - left Price with a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Oh I have a Drabble idea if that’s ok! What about hobie with reader who really laughs for the first time? Like she’s a pretty easy person to make laugh and has a good sense of humor but something just gETS her and he sees her laugh to the point of tears for the first time. I feel like that’d be cute. Also it can be GN if you prefer!
Hi hun! Thank you for requesting ❤️ your prompt was so cute, hope you like it!
Pairing: Hobie Brown x gn! Reader/ Spider-Punk x gn! Reader.
Tags: No use of Y/N, no specific physical description of the reader, established relationship, food mention, FLUFF.
ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ
Your hands are sticky and smelling of citrus, breaking off another piece of orange and placing it onto Gwen's waiting hand, she hums a thankful tune, her head slumped on your shoulder, still feeling the after effects of her latest mission.
Hobie's sitting in front of you, legs casually draped over your lap, his shoes grazing your suit, but you don't mind, as long as he's recuperating. A cold compress placed on his eyes, blocking out the harsh lights of the cafeteria.
You tap the table, getting his attention. He pulls the edge of the cold compress, peeking at you. Hobie raises a pierced brow.
You raise a piece of orange, ready to throw at his mouth, he understands completely, mouth open, trying to angle it better.
You toss it, the orange slice flips in the air, landing directly in Hobie's mouth.
He pumps his fist in the air, while Gwen tiredly claps. You giggle at Hobie's reaction, rubbing a soothing hand over the tensed muscles in his leg.
"You want another one?" You crane your neck towards Gwen, her brows knitting together when Hobie jokingly opens his mouth full of chewed orange, showing it to her.
"Disgusting!" She tosses an orange skin at him, bonking him directly on his forehead.
Hobie chuckles, satisfied with her reaction. But he isn't satisfied with yours, Hobie watches as you laugh softly, the orange in your hands bounces slightly in your grip. He's determined to make you laugh louder, imagining how adorable the sound could be.
"Hey guys!" Miles greets you three, he's accompanied by Pavitr, they saunter towards your table, Pavitr's clutching at the shell of his ear.
"What?!" Pavitr asks loudly. Miles jumps away slightly.
"What's up with him?" Gwen gestures towards Pavitr, he looks at everyone with an apologetic face.
"You alright there, big man?" Hobie asks.
"There was a massive blast on our last mission, it blew out his eardrums" Miles explains, while the boy next to him looks at him questioningly, clearly not hearing anything he's saying.
"Did you guys go to the medbay? Get it checked out?" You stand up, handing Pavitr an orange slice.
"We went to the med bay, spider-doctor said he'll be fine in a few hours" Miles takes your seat next to Gwen. You nod while you're trying to hand Pavitr an orange, but he's too occupied at tugging his ear.
"Can I interest you in an orange, in these trying times?" You joke, but it flies over Pavitr's head (ears?)
"What?!" He asks loudly.
"Do you want an orange?!" You yell out, making other spider people look at you weirdly. "Sorry!" You wave at them.
"I'm sorry! I can't hear you! My ears are ringing!"
"You should answer it then," Hobie jokes nonchalantly.
You laugh loudly a second later, turning everyone's attention to you, clutching your stomach as happy tears prick your eyes.
Everyone gets startled by your loud guffaw, Gwen and Miles laugh, your chortle making theirs louder. They're not laughing at you though, they're clearly laughing with you. Gwen slaps Miles shoulders, Hobie didn't foresee how his little joke got everyone cackling hard.
You keel over, knees giving out. Hobie was too occupied at basking in your laughter, he didn't notice you sitting on the floor, gasping for breath.
He quickly jumps up, grabbing your forehead, shielding it from the dirty floors of the cafeteria. Hobie notices that everyone in the room is in stitches, guess your laughter was contagious.
As much as he loves the sound of your happiness, you need to stop for air, or else you might actually faint from too much laughter.
Hobie crouches down, cupping your jaw. He chuckles at your tear stained cheeks, your nose flaring up, skin, hot from laughing too hard. Happiness suits you, he thinks.
Hobie rubs your cheeks with his thumb, his other hand massaging your back, trying to calm you down. "Breathe, you gotta inhale, lovey"
Inhaling deeply, your laughter subsides slowly, but little chuckles still leave your lips. You place your head on his chest with a thud, embarrassed.
"Oh god, I needed that" you hold onto his neck for support, hearing the roaring laughter slowly die down "that was so embarrassing though" you look up at him, Hobie's staring directly into your eyes, lopsided grin on his lips.
"Nah, you're good" Hobie pats the top of your head, leaving a quick peck on it, heat rises back in your cheeks, but for a different reason this time.
You bat your eyelashes "Thanks Hobie" giving him your best smile.
He helps you back on your feet, caressing your arm fondly. Your friends make gagging noises, showing their displeasure at your public display of affection.
"What's so funny?" Pavitr asks, feeling left out.

this doesn't have a title cause it's late and I have work in the morning. this is a surprise gift for @cauldronoflove cause her fic last week and the whatever is going on with this show did something to my brain (positive) wc: 860 | T | pre-Max/Avery/Tristan (odt3?)
“Welcome to Eyes Wide Shut week, doctor.” Tristan's smile pulls up higher on the right side, Max’s side, as he wiggles his fingers in a wave at a woman boarding. Her dress is tight as her hold on her husband's arm. She's older than him, easily old enough to be Tristan’s mother.
“Don't call it that,” Avery chides, still it's hard not to miss the amusement that sparkles in her eyes.
“That's the Tom Cruise movie?” He finds himself asking. He hadn't read the briefing, he never reads the briefing, far preferring this rundown where his experienced team tells him what he actually needs to know.
“So he knows the finer details of the Barbie Dreamhouse but not one of the best Cruise films to date?” Tristan muses.
That earns an actual reaction from Avery. Max can feel the smile playing on his own lips as her eyes widen and she leans enough to see around him to stare at Tristan, mouth dropped open just a breath in her disbelief. “Not Interview with the Vampire?”
“I did say ‘one of.’ I can like more than one thing.”
“Oh yes, I forgot you hit two of the B's for your little poker game.”
The quip is right there for the taking and something about the two of them has made it harder and harder for Max to resist taking. “Our Tristan is pretty butch, isn’t he?”
Pleasure ripples across Tristan’s face instinctually accepting the compliment implied with the claim before the next wave crashes over top of it, him catching the tease.
“Funny.” There’s a charm to his scowl. If Tristan weren’t so handsome when he was mad, he wouldn’t be so fun to rile up. As it stands, there’s a light in his eyes as he plans his next comeback, and the tight draw of his brow somehow compliments the line of his jaw. “Maybe you'll find someone who appreciates your wit during this year’s swingers week.”
“That’s what this week is?” He can feel his smile in his cheeks and his eyebrows arching up his hairline. In the milieu beneath their feet he watches with fresh eyes the way the boarding couples greet one another. The way greetings linger, hands on elbows and kisses pressed to cheeks.
“Officially,” Avery says, a warning note in her voice that the fondness on her face betrays, “we are hosting high ranking guests from several fraternal orders.”
“And unofficially?”
“Priapism is the diagnosis of the week.”
A grin that's all boarding school charm melts across Tristan's face. “Good thing for your steady hands, Doctor Odyssey.”
His own smile turns small, his face feels warm as he takes his eyes off his crew and looks back down at the boarding passengers. Faces with the bland similarity that he associates with wealth and power. A former Midwestern Senator moving around the floor holds his focus but not his attention.
That is devoted to the memory of Avery, laid out on his table. His fingers alongside Tristan’s inside her, her life in their hands.
“I thought swingers were couples.”
“Yes, that’s the point.” Avery says.
“No, I just mean that couple was just making eyes at Tristan.”
“Some are just looking for a third,” he says, lips twisting into something coy. “Have you ever known me to deny a damsel in distress?”
The former Senator has found the woman that smiled up at them in the mezzanine. A scowl has found Max’s face and his hand has found Avery’s. Their knuckles graze against one another, seeking comfort in a way that’s becoming increasingly common. He thinks he could pick their hands, strong and sure, out of a line up.
He understands more than ever the bright flashes of green eye irritation every time he and Avery emerged from a room with a locked door. Tristan laid out against white sheets with… He doesn’t even want to finish the thought.
“Don’t tell me you’re a prude, doctor.” A coy smile grows wider, teasing. Mirth and something Max has come to recognize as curiosity dance across his face, in the lines beside his eyes.
Tristan keeps his attention on Max, but with every brush of hand against hand he knows his answer will be for both himself and Avery.
“Personally, I think the only couple I’ll worry about pleasing this week are my nurses.”
It’s not been long, but they react the way he would have predicted. Avery scoffs, smacks the back of his hand with hers before crossing her arms across her chest, playing at annoyance and disapproval. Tristan, who’s need for approval and fickle attachment Max understands much better after meeting his mother, gapes any witty retort he might have managed stolen by the blatant way the thing they have been dancing around has now been laid out like a patient on the operating table.
“Now, is there anything other than fine gauge needles we should be preparing? Antibiotics? Some compresses? Condoms?”
As he wanders toward the elevator his team follows. The previous topic not forgotten but transmuted, changed in his favor like the tide beneath him. It’s something he thinks he could get used to.

admin I was reading through your master list and noticed that for treasure, the reaction to a fight+s/o fainting doesn’t have anything for dobby ruto woo and Hwan! Now that they’re older might you consider writing that for them? (I just love angst)

KIM DOYOUNG
🐰 doyoung never lets fights escalate, always calming you down before it gets too serious
🐰 but with you being sick, it only ticked you off more when he did so
🐰 "babes, please sit down. you shouldn't be walking around when you are sick."
🐰 he was being nothing but sweet to you, but obv in your sick state, you were only pissed off by his words and gestures
🐰 "i will sit when i fucking want to!" you yelled, your own voice giving you a headache
🐰 doyoung was at your side as you clutched your head, wiping away the tears that fell down your face
🐰 "baby, talk to me. what do you want? what can i do for you?"
🐰 you felt bad instantly, guilty at the fact that you yelled at your boyfriend, who wanted nothing but the best for you
🐰 "i'm sorry. i really am. i'm so sorry."
🐰 you repeated your apologies over and over, your words slurring as your headache was too much to handle
🐰 doyoung knew what was happening before you could even get a word out, making you sit down on the sofa as the spots took over your vision before you passed out
🐰 he kept his calm even though he was internally freaking out, only heaving a breath when you opened your eyes, finally regaining consciousness
🐰 “gosh, princess. you gave me quite the scare right now, you know?”

WATANABE HARUTO
🦙 bro is in full panic mode as soon as you raise your voice at him
🦙 ruto is so convinced you are gonna leave him when you two get into an argument
🦙 and he's just creating contingencies in his head to make you stay with him bc he doesn't want you to leave him
🦙 “baby, please don't raise your voice. let's talk this out softly, hm?”
🦙 you knew you were going overboard and your migraine didn't help at all
🦙 not wanting to hurt your beloved bf further, you turned on your heel, attempting to take a step away
🦙 but all you are hit with is a wave of nausea and dizziness, making you still in your place
🦙 you only managed to say “haruto … i don't feel good” before fainting, falling right into his arms as he caught you
🦙 he is going insane with the things running through his head, wondering if what was happening was normal or not
🦙 but he also knew of your migraines and how iffy you got when you had them
🦙 he'd analyse your behavioral pattern as he laid you in bed, realizing you were having a super bad migraine
🦙 haruto would have your meds by your side as you came around, giving it to you as soon as you opened your eyes
🦙 he's also not leaving your side until you agree to go to a doctor bc he's not about to have you fainting on him again
🦙 “no idc if you think this is normal, i won't be able to rest well until you check this out with a doctor, okay, babes?”
Tumblr media
PARK JEONGWOO
🐺 he doesn't get angry often, but when he does, it's an absolute war
🐺 woo would get too angry to even notice the signs of you not feeling well
🐺 you usually kept quiet when he got angry so he thought little of your silence when he was ranting
🐺 it wasn't until you tapped his shoulder mid-rant that he realized something was definitely wrong with you
🐺 he'd see the tears on your face and wonder if he went too far, but what happened next only screwed with his mind even more
🐺 “i understand we have our differences, but we must—jagiya, what's wrong?”
🐺 you didn't even have enough time to get out the words you wanted to say, falling directly into his arms
🐺 jeongwoo would be in full-blown panic, tearing up instantly as he felt guilty for not being more observant of you
🐺 “jagi. jagiya. please open your eyes and tell me you are alright. please.”

SO JUNGHWAN
🐮 junghwan didn't really mean to get as angry as he did when speaking to you

🐮 you'd be startled at his reaction, tearing up instantaneously at his words
🐮 “i'm sorry, hwanie. i really am. please don't leave me. i'm sorry.”
🐮 junghwan would instantly pause at your words, realizing he must've scared you
🐮 “no, no. hey, y/n. i didn't mean it like that. why would i leave you? i'm sorry for scaring you like that.”
🐮 he'd apologise constantly, afraid to approach you as you cowered in the corner, clutching your head as you quietly sobbed
🐮 junghwan would realize immediately that something was wrong when you rested your hands on the floor, a dazed look in your eyes
🐮 before he could ask you, your body gave away, falling to the floor with a light thud
🐮 instantly, junghwan is by your side, tapping whichever hyung’s number came up first as he called them to get help
🐮 they'd calm him over the phone, letting him know it was just a moment of being overwhelmed and that you weren't seriously unwell
🐮 once you wake up, he's holding you in a tight hug, muttering apologies repeatedly
🐮 “i'm so sorry for making you feel like that, y/n. i promise i won't ever do that again. please don't leave me. i love you, please. i'm so terribly sorry.”

World where we don't collide
Short story about MC's therapy after 5 years since Hannah was found
words: 1600
warnings: probably none, maybe a bit mean MC
A shaky breath left my mouth as I opened the door that led to a place I hated with all my heart. But I still went there. Warmth enveloped my body, which was numb from being outside for so long. It was the end of November, and the weather this year was extremely hostile. I walked down the long corridor to see the secretary, who, as usual, was piled high with papers she was tiredly trying to sort through.
I coughed softly, gaining her attention. At first, clearly frightened, she looked up, and when she recognized me, her lips slightly stretched into a small smile.
– Hello, MC. I haven't seen you here in so long that I started to miss that beautiful face. – she said with obvious amusement, which made me lighten up a bit as well
– Yes, it's been a while since my last visit. I replied, playing with the sleeve of my black coat. – Is she free yet?
The woman nodded and went back to her papers. I sighed softly and headed towards the office that had been haunting me for months.
I knocked to make sure it was empty except for the doctor, and when I heard a soft 'come in', I went inside. The white walls matched the gold accessories nicely. Everything about it was exactly as I remembered, and I hadn't been there for the past two months. My gaze moved over every square millimeter of the room, consistently avoiding the silhouette of the therapist, who was sitting in one of the armchairs as usual.
– MC. Nice to see you. – she greeted, and I nodded to her, in the meantime taking off and hanging my coat on the hanger. – Please, take a sit.
I took the seat across from her, crossing my legs. I wanted to start a conversation, but I didn't know how.
– You stopped therapy. – she said, to which I nodded bitterly. – May I know what was the reason for that?I sighed, biting my lip nervously.
– I knew where our conversations were headed, and I didn't want to talk about it. I didn't want to talk about him. – I replied without looking into her eyes. I didn't like making eye contact with anyone. The eyes were windows to people's souls, which I always found very distracting.
– Then why did you come back?
– I got a letter. I do not know what to do with it. – I said as she gave me a questioning look. I finally looked up at her and handed her the paper I had in my hand. As she read it, I stared at her face, which so painfully reminded me of Lilly's face. She was a woman with short blonde hair and sea blue eyes. They could be soothing and calm like the sound of waves, or stormy and menacing like a storm in the middle of a deep ocean. She finally looked at me, and I saw just a hint of that anger in her eyes.
– Hannah and Thomas getting married? – she asked the obvious question, because the card I gave her was an invitation I got two days ago. - How do you feel with it?
I snorted a little mockingly, but my reaction didn't put her off at all.
– I don't feel much. It's none of my business anymore. – I looked at the vase of flowers on the table between us
– I can tell when you're lying, you know? Why did you come to me if you don't want to tell me the truth and let me help you? – she asked me a sharp question that made my jaw clench
– I think I feel angry. – I said, playing with my fingers – No. Anger is empty. Two days ago, when I first read that stupid invitation, I wanted to rip her into little pieces. Fury seized me, my whole body burned. I still wonder how could they? Next week is the fifth anniversary of finding Hannah, the fifth anniversary of Richy's death, and the fifth anniversary of his death.. – I blurted out, breathing shallowly, my nails digging into the palm of my hand – Jake's death. And suddenly they're going to throw a huge wedding party, enjoying themselves and having fun like nothing ever happened? And they have the audacity to invite me there after all they've done to me?
– Next week is the fifth anniversary of the mine events. Don't torture your thoughts. Pour them out, don't fight them. – she said in a quiet and calm voice, completely ignoring my outburst of anger at Hannah
I closed my eyes heavily, letting out a breath full of frustration, fatigue and reluctance. We've been rolling this topic over and over again for eight months. I was tired of analyzing and wondering if I could have done something to change the course of events. If I had gone to meet the Man Without The Face, would everything have turned out completely differently?
– I feel the same as two, three or four years ago. I feel betrayed by Richy, yet his death still affects me. I would like to talk to him, find out and understand him. God, I wish he'd shot himself in the head instead of setting himself on fire and blowing up the entire mine. – I said taking a deep breath
– You're furious because you lost Jake because of Richy. You blame him. It's normal.
– You shouldn't be so understanding. I think I need someone to blame so I don't blame myself for the death of .. – his name still hurt – for Jake's death. The problem is that...
– The body was never found.
I nodded, swallowing. For eight months of therapy, I'd been trying to put a wall between my thoughts about the black-haired hacker. I accepted that he died. It was driving me crazy to wonder if he had managed to escape the mine after all, only to be caught by the FBI. Literally. I knew he was dead. He never contacted me again, leaving me with the bittersweet taste of his last three words.
– You never told me about him. You mentioned him only at our first meeting, when you were nothing more than a wreck of a human. – she said, and I understood her unspoken request to tell about him
Uncontrollably, my mind began to flood with memories of our conversations that I had so strongly resisted. I remembered the sweet smiles he used to send me, how we analyzed things together and how good team we were. I remember him confessing that I was fascinating to him. He could text me things that made my heart beat faster and my breath quicken. He cared for me and defended me when the group attacked me with their vote. At some point, he was my everything.
– I can see that he must have been someone special, that you flew away like that. – she said, a small smirk playing at the corners of her lips
I bit my lip to hold back my smile.
– And he was. He really was. Of the whole group, he was the only one worth trusting.
– Why do you think so? You told me about Jessy. You told me about all of them and the friendship you made.
I bit the inside of my cheek, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
– I haven't spoken to any of them in almost five years. Hannah at Richy's funeral gave me enough reasons to disassociate myself from them.
– The group had no influence on what the traumatized Hannah accused you of. – she cut into my sentence
– But no one interrupted her. Nobody took my side or Jake's side. – I answered a little harsher than I had planned. – She made me mud, blaming me for Richy's and Jake's death. From taking Jake away from her. And then no one dared say a word to her. Dan and Thomas were happy as if nothing had happened. They didn't give a shit what happened to Jake! They didn't care at all but that fucking Hannah had been found, completely forgetting who had helped find her! Jake had dropped everything for her, and his death hadn't affected them at all.
– How did Lilly react? It was her brother, after all.
– She apologized to me for Hannah after everything. She put it down to her trauma, but you know what? I didn't give a shit at all then. Lilly was the only one who tried to keep in touch with me.
– But you cut them off after returning from Duskwood. How did you do that? How did you manage to cut yourself off from an important part of your life back then?
I bit my lip as I thought about my answer. My eyes became slightly misted from not blinking for a long time.
– I started to imagine a world where we don't collide. A world where Hannah hadn't sent those stupid few numbers to her stupid boyfriend who thought it was someone else's number. A world where I wouldn't reply to them at all. And most of all, I imagined life in a world where I wouldn't fall in love with this wanted hacker. – I gasped as I felt my pulse quicken
The therapist looked at me with satisfaction in her eyes, because I finally opened up to her. I got carried away by my emotions.
– What are you going to do with this invitation?
I swallowed hard, feeling my nails almost pierce the center of my palm. It was supposed to help me, but it only unleashed a storm inside my mind.
– I'll burn them.
The therapist smiled slightly, knowing full well that it wasn't true.

SO!
The Star Beast!
Let's talk about it!
(Major spoilers under the cut)
-First off, I fucking love Fourteen, absolutely a delight, I wanna hug them (Okay, technically I HAVE hugged them when I got to hug David at the con this year, but still!). Also, 'male-presenting Time Lord', bah! Still gonna use they/them when I refer to them because please just let me have this, I don't care, the Doctor canonically doesn't give two shits about gender and even refers to going by the article Doctor over a pronoun in this special anyway.
-Second, DONNA! OH DONNA! I love her, I love her so much, just- oh, she hasn't changed a damn bit! Including missing the fucking alien spacecraft because that was exactly what I expected from her. <3
-Also, most supportive mom, love that.
-Rose~! Oh, oh Rose, how I love you! No notes, she's amazing! It did hurt to hear her dead name being used, but considering that it was done by a bunch of dickheaded kids, it makes sense. But we will never use that name for her here, nope, she's just Rose. <3
-Shaun is a delight, Donna got herself the most excellent of malewives ever
-Sylvia, ah, exactly as I expected, though she is trying to be better for her daughter and granddaughter, so points to her.
-Meep! So much to say on the meep but I'll keep it brief: transphobic little shit.
-UNIT is always fun to see, but how well known are they nowadays because the BBC report actually referred to them. I dunno, I've still working my way through the Third Doctor's era where UNIT was a major plot point and I haven't... finished watching Thirteen's era yet (only because I want to watch it with my gf the next time we see each other).
-Fourteen interacting with the Noble family was great, especially with them trying to see the Meep and Sylvia panicking and wow, this face cannot escape being slapped I wonder if Donna will get to do one herself.
-The action stuff is so much fun, exactly what I expect from this series.
-Being on the Meep's ship, the fact that Donna went to help the Doctor and just... oh, oh, them freaking out and crying because they were scared she'd die when she remembered. I started sobbing.
-Hell, I was crying when they held her in their arms and said he didn't care if the grunts shot them... uuuuhhhhhggggg... Fourteen cares about her so much! That's his best friend!
-Rose! Rose and Donna, Time Ladies! Lord, Lady, and neither! Don't care what anyone says, I loved this. I didn't voice it, but I had a very strong feeling that Rose would inherit the DoctorDonna.
-Was a little confused about them 'letting go' but... yeah, alright, okay. Still, I wonder if there is still a bit of Time Lord left in them.
-Is there any chance that they can sell Rose's plushies. I really want the Ood one.
-THE TARDIS!
-Oooooh, she's beautiful and big and very classic and yet so very nuwho at the same time, a perfect blend, and just so gorgeous! And Fourteen freaking out in excitement, running around like a child, being so happy about a coffee maker in the TARDIS! <3<3<3
-And Donna's reaction! She was so happy too!
-But then the 'killed me' scene... oh, oh honey, you've been holding onto that for centuries, those memories and the guilt. It's honestly heartbreaking to know that the Doctor, through all their new faces, still held onto those feelings about what happened to Donna.
-I'm excited, don't know what the fuck is gonna happen in the next episode since we didn't get a preview and I think it's the least known of the episodes so far.
-I saved this for last, but I wanna talk about the sonic screwdriver cause I know some people are gonna be all 'oh, it's too OP!'
First off, the sonic has always been, it always will be, it's a fucking sci-fi tool, sci-fi series always have some sort of tool that does everything.
Second, whatever the hell it did to make the shields was awesome, that's such a cool trick and I love it. I bet it's done using sound and light waves, which makes for a very interesting concept and something I'd love to explore in one of my sci-fi aus. Not sure how it made that cool schematics things, but whatever.
Also, leave me alone! I love the new sonic! I need to get my hands on one, but they're always sold out or too expensive!
(Okay, not really last, just a bonus, but damn, no offense to Ten, but Fourteen is a bit more attractive to me. I dunno, I mean, I was crushing hard on the DT at 15, but at 31, it's like, oh. Oh no. He's aged so well, he's so pretty. This is probably Crowley's fault.)

Dr. Owens peaks his head in the door uneasily, where, inside, Hopper sits on the edge of the bench hunched over a bucket. He is still in the gown the lab had provided, his new pair of scrubs still sitting folded and untouched to his left on the bench. Another retch is torn from his strained throat as his insides empty into the bucket. Owens fights a grimace and clears his throat announcing his presence.
"All right, cowboy, good news." He steps inside, his assistant behind him. "We're giving you the green light. How're you feeling?"
Hopper, still shaky and weak from his night in the tunnels and the full hose down from the medical team, turns to give the doctor an exaggerated grin.
"Never better." Says Hopper through gritted teeth.
"All right, well, we got a present for ya," Owens says, letting the sarcasm roll off his back.
The assistant steps forward, a folded hazmat suit in his hands. Hopper attempts no such efforts to hide his grimace at the sight.
"The hell is that?"
"Uh, something you should see."
⊹ ⊹ ⊹
The heart monitor beats steadily as Will sleeps, color has begun to return to his cheeks but it is scarce. Mike is tucked under a blanket, fast asleep in the bedside chair while Joyce and Bob speak in hushed whispers in the corner. Joyce had, for the most part, filled in Bob on the events of the past year.
"They made me sign, like, a thousand documents. I mean... we all had to. We had to! I mean, I lost track at a certain point. They're gonna make you do the same. I'm sure."
Bob nods, his eyes returning to Joyce after lingering worriedly on Will.
"Yeah. Well, hey, whatever."
There's a brief pause as Joyce gauges his reaction suspiciously, surprised by his shockingly relaxed demeanor. Finally, Bob speaks.
"What kind of documents?"
"Uh, confidentiality, and there were these official forms saying, like, nothing ever happened, which is why..."
Bob steps towards Will's bed, clarity written on his face.
"...Will got lost in the woods."
"Yeah."
Bob shakes his head, the wave of shock finally crashing over him in full.
"Man, I always thought stuff like this happened in movies and comic books. Certainly not in Hawkins," He returns to Joyce's side. "and certainly not to someone like you."
Joyce nudges Bob. "Or you."
"Yeah," he chuckles, quirking a brow. "Bob Newby, superhero."
The pair share a smile, but it does not last long before it fizzles out in the unresolved tension in the air. Joyce notes the shivers shaking Bob's body and throws him a concerned glance.
"You cold?"
"Just a little jitters, I guess." He says, drawing the blanket around his shoulders closer. "Hey, don't you start worrying about me. Okay? I'm fine. I'm fine."
Joyce nods in understanding, though she can't quite seem to shake the worry.
"It's not like you didn't warn me. 'This is not a normal family.' Isn't that what you said?"
The ends of her lips curl into a weak smile, a deflated chuckle escaping her. Bob soon joins in, gesturing to Will.
"You weren't kidding."
There's another thick pause, and Bob takes a silent breath before returning to a familiar subject.
"It kinda makes my idea of moving to Maine sound a little less crazy, right?"
"Oh, it... it's not crazy at all." She reassures.
A warm smile tugs at his lips and Joyce can feel the effects of his contagious charm, a smirk coming onto her face as well. But the moment quickly slips away at the sound of a familiar voice stirring from the bed.
"Mom?"
The couple is quick to join his side, and Bob enters the hall in a beat calling for the doctor. Joyce reaches him in no time, her palm reaching out for her son to stroke his cold cheek.
"Sweetie, how are you feeling? You okay?"
Bob steps back into the room, leaving the door ajar and Mike stirs awake at the small commotion.
"Okay, they're on their way," Bob says, joining Joyce's side, and gives Will a warm smile. "Hey."
Will frowns at his mother, gesturing to Bob.
"Who is that?"
Joyce chuckles nervously, and worry quickly settles into everyone's chest.
"What?" Joyce asks.
"It's me, big guy. It's Bob."
His palm extends to meet Will's, to give him a reassuring tap on the arm but Will pulls away reluctantly. There is suspicion and fear in his eyes as he inspects the man for what looks to be the first time.
"Are you a... doctor?"
The tension in the air rises, but Bob tries to push through it. Joyce and Mike only watch the exchange with great worry.
"No. No, it's just me. Just... just Bob."
⊹ ⊹ ⊹
Lucas coasts down Old Cherry Road, his heart rate climbing steadily. As he approaches, his ears perk up at the muffled rock music blasting from inside one of the many houses. He knows this is the one he has been looking for when he recognizes the car Max had climbed into many times. And more importantly, the one that nearly ran him and his friends over.
Inside, Billy hardly fights the anger rising in his chest at the doorbell that keeps ringing. He continues his set, his fuse shortening when it goes unanswered. With an angered grunt, he drops the bar and grabs his cigarette from his lips.
"Max, are you getting that or what?" He roars.
An impressive huff escaped her, her eyes rolling to the back of her head briefly in disdain.
"Okay!" She snaps, chucking her half-taped board on her mattress before standing.
The doorbell rings once more, and not a second later Billy continues to berate her.
"I swear to God, Max!"
She stomps down the hall in a fury, making an effort to glare menacingly at her stepbrother in a last act of defiance. She moves swiftly around his equipment, hair flying behind her as her speed increases with every frantic ring of the doorbell. She rips the door open, expecting to deal with another noise complaint from Billy's music that would somehow get her in trouble. To her surprise, it wasn't. The sight Max finds on her front porch is much worse.
To her horror, Lucas, flashing her a tiny, sheepish smile. And completely unsuspecting of her brother and his malicious, bigoted ways only a few feet away. It sinks Max's heart right into her stomach. She knows if he is caught here, there was no telling what Billy would do to him. Her head whips around to the living room, grateful Billy has his back turned. Quickly, she steps outside closing the door behind her.
"What are you doing here?" She hisses.
Her voice is urgent and hushed, and oh how she hates that Billy holds this power over her. The power to make her feel unsafe in her own home, the power to make her fear for other people's safety no matter where she is.
"I have proof," Lucas says, not without a trace of excitement.
"What?"
"Proof that what I told you was real. But we have to hurry."
"What kind of proof? Y/n proof, or something-I'm-gonna-regret-seeing-later proof?"
Lucas winced.
⊹ ⊹ ⊹
With a half-hearted grunt, Billy places the weights back on the rack and sits up. He takes one long drag of his cigarette before exhaling, his attention returning to the front door. He realizes he hasn't heard any conversation and when he sees he is alone-no sign of the nuisance he called a step-sister, and a closed front door-he knows Max is up to no good. In his eyes, she isn't. He rises from the bench and stalks forward towards the door, taking a swig from his beer can and placing it on the mantle just as the door swings open.
Max slips inside through the small gap she created in the doorway, quick to close the door the moment she was inside. As if on autopilot, she stomps through the living room-not very far-before she halts suddenly in her tracks. Billy is blocking off the entryway, his shoulders squared and a fixed glare on her-clearly unafraid of reminding her the many physical advantages he had over her. She jumps, not expecting his presence but she does well to hide it.
"Who the hell were you talking to?" He asks with venom.
Max collects herself, her eyes struggle not to dart around the room and he notes the uneasy twitch in her brow line.
"Mormons."
A sick smile tugs at his lips, a smirk made of a mix of disgust and triumph. He can almost laugh at her pathetic lie. Almost.
"Mormons?"
She nods, a rising sense of confidence in her tone that makes it harder for him to confront her.
"Talkative ones."
With that, she slips past him and makes a swift exit to her room. He stares after her, the gears turning in his head but he can't quite pin anything on her yet, much to his chagrin. He heads for the door, ripping it open as she did moments ago and steps onto the empty porch. His eyes scan the street but he sees no sign of anyone, just an empty lawn and others like them up and down the road. His jaw clenches, his anger flickering inside him more but he shoves it away for now, and heads back inside.
Meanwhile, Max reaches her room, closing her door behind her and making her way to her window. She's gets it open in record time-and perfect silence. Just as she had instructed, Lucas awaits outside her window, his movements urgent as he beckons her down.
"Come on, hop on!"
Max quickly climbs through the window, her feet planting on the small landing just below and jumps onto the grass. She quickly takes a seat behind Lucas, grabbing his shoulders she leans around him to speak.
"This better be good, stalker."
In a matter of moments, the pair is off. Silently, they slip around the back of the house and disappear down the road.
⊹ ⊹ ⊹
The yellow beam of light shifts from eye to eye and Will does his best to ignore the flash of negatives his brain sees. He is surrounded by somewhat familiar faces. He does not understand the fuss being made, his mother and friend he recognizes but now there was a strange man in scrubs that stayed behind. Bob. He wasn't sure why he was being treated like this.
"Do you know your name?" The doctor asks.
"Will."
"Your full name?" He asks, tucking the flashlight into his breast pocket.
"William Byers." He says simply.
"Do you know... Do you know who I am?"
Will thinks for a moment, the question obvious and unnecessary.
"A doctor."
Will tries to ignore the fact that he is surrounded by a medical team that watches him studiously. He does all he can to focus his attention on the doctor before him, and answer his questions but he can't help but start to doubt his own sanity. Or at least the sanity of everyone around him. Was he supposed to have known everyone circling him now?
"Have we met before?" The doctor asks.
Will's brow fell into a crease, he shakes his head simply.
"I don't remember."
"Hmm."
Elsewhere, a large team of staff assigned to the Byers case watches the feed with intrigue. The live footage from Byers' room is displayed on one of many monitors and they watch, paying close attention to the quizzical and unexpected turn the boy has taken.
"You don't remember me?" They hear Owens ask.
They see the boy shake his head, and Owens nods.
"Okay," he extends an arm and points in Mike's direction. "How about, uh... How about this guy here?"
Mike shifts uneasily, his heart pounding against his chest as his best friend slowly turns to look at him. Nervously, he retracts one hand from his pocket and waves weakly before returning to the comfort of the is pocket. He suddenly felt silly for it, but the fear quickly won out. His fingers fumble anxiously with the loose thread from the shoddy stitching as he waits for answer.
Will does not answer immediately, his eyes are darker and his gaze is distant and detached.
"That's okay, take your time," Owens assures.
The look in his eyes bothers Mike, and the longer Will neglects to speak the longer eternity seems to stretch on. Never, not even once has Mike seen this look on Will. He is not himself, and he fears the worst. The ghost of their conversation at the Byers house being shoved to the back of his mind as it creeps up. Not himself. He isn't frowning, like Will usually does when he is stumped. His brow isn't furrowed, and there is no sign that he is frustrated by his stump. He just... stares. All emotions devoid from his features and he is much too calm. Finally, he speaks.
"That's my friend." He says slowly. "Mike."
Mike doesn't fight the breath of relief, but he can't help but think that their troubles were far from over.
The next person to speak is the tallest man in the room, Will notes. He had joined them not long ago and had stuck by his mother's side. He smiles weakly, but he can tell that for the man, it is genuine.
"What about me, kid? You remember me?"
His attention slowly shifts to the tall man, and he searches his brain, what's left of the foggy memories that have only grown clouded and dark in the past few hours. But he sees nothing, nothing about this tall, bearded man and he shakes his head. He recognizes the look of disappointment and worry, but he quickly tries to bury it.
"They tell me you helped save me last night. You remember that?"
Will shakes his head once more. His attention is once again shifted to the doctor at his bedside.
"Do you remember anything about last night? About what happened?"
Will feels a twinge of anger, and the ghost of the pain from the previous night ignites his memory.
"I remember they hurt me."
《•••》
Will collapsed to the ground in agony. Mike dropped to the ground quickly after him, grasping his friend trying to get him to calm. But it was no use. Will was now lying on the grass, his entire body felt like it was on fire. His vision was as white as the white-hot searing pain running through his veins.
《•••》
Joyce winces at the memory, her stomach turning and her palm reaches to her face, her fingers massaging her temples. She feels Bob's hand reach her back and pat her soothingly in an attempt to calm her.
"You mean the doctors?" Owens asks.
His eyes still dark and blank-his composure flat and calculated-he shakes his head.
"No," he says, his tiny voice as dark as his eyes. No one had seen the boy so still. "The soldiers."
《•••》
The figure, who had been properly equipped, aimed his device and a violent spurt of fire erupted from the end. The vines writhed and shrieked violently as they shriveled up.
《•••》
"The soldiers hurt you?"
Will blinks slowly, the first he has in a while and his voice grows hoarse and angered. He is enraged-betrayed-the darkness clouding his usual hazel green eyes and now they seem almost black. His tone only sends spikes of fear into the hearts of those who are closest to Will. And it only reminds Mike of the previous day, when Will had forced Y/n away.
When Will spoke, Mike felt a familiar chill run down his spine. And only now does he recognize the tone in Will's voice. How it held no emotion and he seemed so distant. And cold.
Not himself.
Mike felt as if he was reliving that moment over, but the only difference was the person who hurt him. Or something inside him.
"They shouldn't have done that." Says Will, darkly. His pale face slowly slips into a scowl, a threatening glance anyone would be unsettled by and his voice grew more venomous.
"It upset him."
The blood was pounding in Mike's ears by now, and on instinct he finds himself looking to Mrs. Byers. But all she can focus on is her son. Or rather, what looked like her son. What used to be. Mike had to shake the dark thoughts from his mind, but he couldn't help but blame himself. He had already slipped into this state before, why hadn't he done more? Talked to Mrs. Byers? Tell him how he changed so briefly but drastically right before his eyes? At least he managed to break free from it last time. But now... now things were different.
All he can manage to do for now is watch as Owens takes a photograph from a file folder that sits on the bed, he hands it to Will who takes it.
"You say, "Upset him." Is that him?"
Will's darkened eyes trail up from the picture and meet the man's eyes. He merely nods, and even though no words are spoken aloud, the room is hit with another dreadful chill. Owens takes the photograph back and sets it on the folder as he looks around the room.
"Okay, I want to try something." He instructs. "It's gonna seem a little odd at first, but I think it's really gonna help us understand what's going on."
He gently places a hand on Will's shoulder, sending a reassuring look to the boy as best as he could manage.
Will's eyes flicker to the hand on his shoulder. He tries to ignore the small but uncomfortable body heat from his palm, and he tries even harder to stifle the anger. It reminds him of the boy-the threat-and what he did, how he hurt Will. He pushes the memory aside and looks to the man, nodding.
"Okay."
⊹ ⊹ ⊹
The steel cart jostles as it crosses the bumpy threshold of the room, a glass case with no lid sits on top. Inside, a loose tentacle collected from the tunnels. Hopper quickly recognized the thing, and he felt his insides twist in knots, alarms going off in his head. He had only just been shown the lab's secret, he couldn't say he was surprised but Owens and his team had just taken them underground. Where they had their very own, private access to the tunnels he had previously been trapped in.
He had been assured they were monitoring it, but it all felt like a load of crap to him. He shifts on his feet as he watches it all unfold.
"Now, Will," Owens begins. "I want you to just let us know if you feel anything. Okay?"
He nods once more, and Owens gives the assistant the all-clear. The blowtorch in his hands flick on, a steady hiss emanates from the strong flame and the man slowly lowers it inside the case. Will stares wide-eyed as the blue flame is lowered, his breathing hitches and speeds up. Short and ragged, and his face has already begun to pale.
The creature begins to hiss. Its dark violet body begins to write against the steel, leaving behind strings of slime. It shrinks back, clearly in pain. The others watch, their attention breaking from Will to the heart monitor he is hooked up to. Beeping increases as his heartbeat picks up.
"Do you feel anything?"
Will's breath hitches, his face twitching in pain. He begins to stammer as he fidgets.
"Little sting."
"It stings. Where?"
The flame lowers further and Will shifts on the mattress, his left hand suddenly clutching his heart. His face contorts in pain, and his cold demeanor has begun to melt into pain.
"My chest." He whimpers.
"Okay, son." He mumbles, patting his arm but he makes no effort to stop.
Joyce reaches out and places a gentle hand on his leg from the end of the bed and begins to mumble encouraging thoughts and showing her concern and support. After a determined and swift nod from the man, the assistant nods and lowers the flame. Everything immediately intensifies, the heart monitor beeps faster, the creature squeals turn to shrieks and Will begins to writhe, clutching desperately at his chest.
"How about now?" He asks urgently.
Will begins to choke on air, he is desperately trying to speak through the pain but he can barely manage the words.
"It... It burns."
Dr. Owens only grows more intense, he leans forward in the slightest as his bushy brows furrow. The flame lowers further and it nearly touches the creature. It cries in agony and so does Will.
"Ah! It burns!"
"Where?"
Another screech and Will gasps for breath, he chokes on his words but he manages a scream that tears through his scalding chest.
"Everywhere!"
The flames lick at its slimy, moist and sizzling skin and it ignites a deafening, agonizing scream from Will. Joyce's face hardens and she begins to shout.
"That's enough. That's enough!"
Will's cries climb higher and louder and within moments it's just as he was when they brought him in. The assistant does nothing and the flame continues to burn the flesh of the creature. Will shifts feverishly on the bed, his head rolling back as he shrieks at the sky. His agonizing cries pierce Joyce's ears and stab at her heart. She continues to try and stop their efforts but her voice is drowned out in Will's screams and even then they ignore her. Hopper jumps in, separating Will from Owens and throws his arms out and he roars at them viciously.
"Stop! You heard her! That's enough!"
The flame retracts and the man shrinks back as the creature does. Patches of its skin are burned away, showing pinkish and inflamed skin, and Will gasps for breath. Hopper stands over the boy protectively and himself as Joyce sends deadly stares to every staff member.
"That's it! We're done!" Hopper barks.
The rooms falls silent and every staff member squirms uncomfortably. Joyce sets aside her fury and redirects her attention to her boy. Soothingly, she pats his leg-the only place she can reach from the end of the bed-and whispers encouraging words.
"Sweetie... Sweetie. It's okay."
Will visibly relaxes, his breathing is still harsh and spotty. He pants heavily, and the heart monitor gradually slows. The creature's wails die down to a ragged hiss and everyone looks around the room.
Owens ushers Joyce and Hopper outside to the hall where they now speak in hushed whispers.
"Our best guess right now is it's some kind of virus which is causing this neurological disorder." The man explains. "Now, when... when a typical virus attaches itself to the host..."
《•••》
── DEC. 1983 ──
Will grips the bathroom sink, his knuckles turning white as he feels a gag shake his body. He lurches forward over the sink as nausea coils tightly around his stomach. He can feel movement traveling up his throat, and something tells him it's not vomit. A disgusting salty taste travels across his tongue and he watches in horror and disgust as a thick slug-like creature hits the bottom of the sink with a shuddering 'plop'.
Will manages to keep his coughs stifled, hopefully his mother and brother do not hear him from the dining room table. His stomach plummets, not only in disgust that this thing was living inside him but also fear. It slithers towards the drain, leaving a trail of paled green slime in its tracks.
《•••》
"...it duplicates, right? It spreads, essentially hijacking the host."
Joyce winces at the man's words, and once more do her fingers reach her temples and rub fixed circles as he continues.
"A virus is alive. It has an intelligence."
《•••》
Will was panting heavily, but he slowly turned around coming face to face with the monster. It towered over the school, looking directly at Will.
《•••》
"That's not... That's not unusual." Owens pauses with a frown, gesturing down the hall. "What is so unusual here, this virus... the infected hosts seem to be communicating."
《•••》
The figure, who had been properly equipped, aimed his device and a violent spurt of fire erupted from the end. The vines writhed and shrieked violently as they shriveled up.
At that exact moment, Will-who had been waiting worriedly outside as the army of men surrounded and descended after his mother and Bob-collapsed to the ground.
•••
Will convulsed uncontrollably, his limbs on fire, spreading as rapidly as the flames in the hub below. As the vines screamed in agony, Will screamed too. He was now on his back, screaming violently into the night. Mike jumped back startled, watching helplessly in horror as his best friend writhed in the grass, his mouth wide open and his eyes rolled back into his head as he shrieked in agony.
《•••》
"It has some sort of hive intelligence, and it's connecting all the hosts."
《•••》
The monster bellowed, and one large tentacle began twirling down onto the ground, the size of a small tornado. The swirling gust of black fog engulfed Will.
•••
Dart looked up from his meal and faced a horrified Dustin, his long slimy tail flicking back and forth. He roared, causing his head to open up, hundreds of bloodied teeth showing as any other Demogorgon would.
•••
The flame lowers further and it nearly touches the creature, it cries in agony and so does Will.
《•••》
"The good news is a virus can be cured. We... We're gonna continue to run tests. We're gonna see what we find."
Joyce shakes her head in disbelief and fights back her tears as she speaks.
"What happens when he can't remember anything? W-When there's nothing else there?" She steps forward towards the man, who once again grows uneasy. "What happens when my boy is gone?"
The man stands dumbfounded and without an answer. Joyce brings a trembling hand to her quivering lip, choking back sobs at the horrendous thought. She feels helpless like there's nothing she can do. And she loathes it.

Homecoming (Namor X Black OC) Chapter 4
Read On AO3 Previous Chapter Next Chapter
Description: After being away from home for so many years due to school keeping Adella busy she's finally able to go home after her hard work pays off but what she didn't expect was such an eventful homecoming.
Words couldn’t even begin to describe the feeling. It wasn't that I didn't believe him, but it was surreal seeing everything for the first time.
People were swimming around going about their day and duties as a community Everyone we passed by made sure to wave or say hello. Even the little kids had their fair share of words to say to him and he listened to every one of them. dipping around multiple corners my eyes grow wide. He looked over at me and smiled.“That's the same face I made when I first discovered this place.”
Beautiful vibrant coral perfectly intact and healthy. Fishes swimming around and other sea life playing with each other it was hard to contain my smile. This is what I live for even with scuba diving. I was never able to achieve this depth but now I can fishes I’ve never even seen before passed by me. I'm shocked, I can’t believe what I’m actually seeing
“ I wish I had a camera to take pictures this is too beautiful K'uk'ulkan!” I swam over to the fish playing and they instantly swarm around me causing multiple giggles to come out. I felt his eyes watching me as I reached out to pet one of the fish.
“We can go up tomorrow.”
“Que?” I turned my head and he playfully scoffed.
“ I said we can go up tomorrow on the surface. As much as I want you here I know that if I keep you here for too long you’ll go crazy.” He smirked while watching my reaction. I smiled and went back to playing with the different fishes
“Good! Because I have some stuff to sort out.”
-
“ I don’t know how you surface dwellers deal with all of this fabric?” He complained while fixing his shorts. “It's not even a lot you’re acting like I put you in a suit!” I chuckled as I sorted out my necessities. He walked over to where I was squatting and I could tell he was confused by some of the things I had.
“ ask your questions I can feel your thoughts stabbing me.”
“What are those things in that container? Can I have one?” The only thing I could see him asking about was the-
“These?” I turned back while holding it in my hand and he reached for it. But I quickly moved my hand.
“It’s not candy it’s my birth control. That I’m extremely behind on.” I sighed and popped one out then grabbed the water on the nightstand.
“Why do you need that?” I gulp down the pill and raised a brow while I looked at him. “It’s to help my periods and it helps prevent pregnancy.” He hummed and began to look around my room while I gathered my stuff.
“ I didn't know you had issues with that. I'll let the doctor know she has lots of herbs that can help… what's this?”
I continued to rummage through my belongings and let out a slight chuckle. “ I don't want to sound like a nonbeliever K'uk'ulkan but I’ve tried every remedy out there to help and those pills are the only thing that has-” I slowly look up to see what he was talking about seeing as how I’m still occupied. I let out a sharp yelp and jumped on my feet to stanch the thing out of his hands.
“How- how did you find that I had that well hidden?” he scoffed and raised a brow. “Well hidden my ass and judging by your reaction it's something naughty.” He smirked mischievously
“Yall don't have sex toys down there- I'm a grown-ass woman. What does it matter if it’s naughty?” I rolled my eyes and stuffed the dildo into my bag along with the other toys I had under my bed.
“ That thing is nothing compared to the real thing my queen.” My mouth hung open from his boldness but I quickly grabbed the pillow from my bed and threw it at him. But he quickly caught it
“ I can’t believe I’m married to such a perverted man!” He laughed while going to lie down on my bed.
I let out a sharp gasp and ran to the kitchen whipping open the fridge. I fall to my knees and slap the floor as if someone told me a person close to me died.
I soon heard footsteps join me in the kitchen
“Is this how all surface dwellers open their fridge?” I lift my head up and point my finger at him while furrowing my eyebrows.
“You! You had this all planned out huh? I told you not to eat my tres leches so you lured me out into the ocean by planting those fishes and trained the shark to attack me!” He looked down at me and rolled his eyes then suddenly he jumped in a rather cartoonish way and held his hands out
“Oh my queen, you caught me. I’ll never be able to forgive myself!” He said dramatically. I squinted my eyes I really wanted to take the fridge door and hit him with it. Kept me down there all this time now my damn tres leches has to go in the garbage AAAAAAH this man is cruel
“You owe me!”
It didn’t take long for me to pack my things up but instead of going back, I insisted I show him around, “I thought you said we were just going to get food…this.” He said gesturing to the people dancing on the floor, “this is a party.”
I nod my head and pass him a drink while downing mine. “Yes, and what better way to celebrate my short return home than good food, music, drinks, and dancing? Gosh, I haven’t felt this alive in months.” I smiled widely while shimmying my shoulder, reaching over to grab the fried shrimp appetizer
I moaned out in satisfaction as the seasonings danced on my tongue. “Can we visit my tio and Tia?” He nodded as he reached in the basket of food. “ I’m telling you this now I can’t shield you from anything that happens when we go,” I warned while holding my hands up.
He scoffed and raised a brow. “ I’m not scared of someone I’m much older than.”
“HA you are funny… when she finds out you wasted my tres leches I’ll give you one second to leave the room.” I signaled for the bartender to bring more drinks over
“But you wouldn’t do that to your poor husband huh?” I scoffed and looked him in the eyes
“You should have thought of that when let it spoil.”
“ Maybe if you offered to share-“
I slapped the table and gasped he did it on purpose. “You little! So you DELIBERATELY made it go bad because you couldn’t have any?” I shook my head and huffed, “You are very lucky I’m wearing sneakers or else something would have been thrown at YOUR HEAD!”He laughed and finally shot back the drink sitting in front of him. “You would be walking home without shoes, my love.”I rolled my eyes, “so it's not the first time I’ve had to walk home barefoot!” I have walked these roads many times with no shoes And almost all of them were unintentional. “ I can’t believe you would let your husband-“ I held my hand up stopping him mid-sentence.“ I don’t want to hear it, it is better you learn now not to mess with my food!” He scoffed and took another piece from the basket. “Is this what I will have to deal with when you are pregnant? Just food crazy and a hand itching to throw something at me?” My eyes grow wide at the off-guard comment but I quickly shake my head.
“Maybe if you don’t eat my food then you won’t have to worry about that!” He rolled his eyes. I throw back the new drink and my eyes go wide when I hear the song change. I hopped down from my chair and he raised a brow confused about what was happening.
“Come on! I have to dance to this song.” He smirked as I looked back while dragging him to the dance floor. Only hesitation could be found on his face. “Just follow the beat… watch me.” I smiled while turning so that my back faced him once again and reached back so that my other hand held onto his. I closed my eyes briefly trying to catch the beat and started moving my hips once I figured out the tempo.
The gap between us closed quickly letting me know he understood. I leaned my head back so it lightly rested on his chest as our bodies moved in sync . With him ever so often dipping his lead to meet my neck as if he were asking for something “Mmm so this is why you wanted me to come and dance?” He said cheekily. I smirked as his hands roamed my body. “Would you rather I do this with someone else my king?” He gripped my waist as I whined my waist into him. “The day a man tries to do that he will be meeting his ancestors, my queen.” He nipped my ear and let out a soft gasp not realizing he would do such a thing in public.” and I would have to punish you.” I smirked Punish me? Yeah okay “ I’m sure you have danced with many women like this,” I smirked as his hands snaked up to my neck itching to grip my throat. “ No such movements are not used….especially in public.” I pulled away slightly only far enough for him to see my body in full and decided to play a game that would probably send me to my grave early. I followed the slowed beat and matched my hips making sure to make eye contact with him as I turned around. Those sweet brown eyes were filled with nothing but lust. Staring at me as if I was prey as if he wanted to devour every bit of me. He pulled me closer urgently. “ you find enjoyment in this?” I scoffed as I ground against him. Making sure to add emphasis when my ass grazed his crotch. He grunted out promptly mumbling something under his breath while gripping my hips to stay still. “Why don’t you show me what the real thing feels like K'uk'ulkan?” I said breathlessly trying to entice him more
“Is that what you want In yakunaj? You want me to fuck you?” I couldn’t resist letting out a quiet moan as his soft plump lips met with my neck nipping it with his teeth as he pulled away. I swiftly turned around and wrapped my hands around his neck quickly connecting our lips.
I was so lost in the cloud of lust I hadn’t realized we managed to make it home. It wasn’t until my back was pressed against the door. We pulled away and I cursed under my breath, hating the lost heat. I pulled the keys out of my side pocket and almost broke the damn key from how fast I was trying to open the door.
I kicked my shoes off once we got inside and our lips connected again. I let out a shriek as he lifted me up causing him to smirk again my lips. He pushed the door open and swiftly laid me on the bed. I moaned as his bulge pressed against my warmth. Making me clench on nothing as if it were calling out for him to stick his cock in me.“Please.” I pulled at the hem of his shirt. I needed this off I needed him now. He pressed his forehead against mine, “I need to prepare you In yakunaj.” I whined and wrapped my legs around him. “ I want you.” I never begged but this man could have me on my knees if he wanted. He pulled my bottoms off and smirked. As gasped as his finger grazed my sensitive clit through my panties. “Be patient.”
I yelped as he yanked my panties off and sucked on my clit. I tried pulling away from the intense feeling but his hands gripped my hips and pulled me back to his face. “F-Fuck” I grabbed his hair as he slid two fingers in me curling his fingers up, playing with my g-spot “and you wanted me to just stick my cock in you?” I clenched around his fingers as he sped up. I could tell by his deepened voice he was smirking trying to figure out all the ways to make me come undone without me. “You're tutoring me” he mischievously chuckled and “this is only the beginning.” I felt his breath against the side of my neck causing a shiver to travel down my spine. As I go to buck my hips up requesting more he pulls out.
I let out an annoyed whine and he smirked “ I'm not going to let you cum just from my fingers… though I know I could make you cum several times….” he grabbed my chin and turned my face so that our eyes met “ noooo I’m going to make you cum from my cock. I'm going to fill every single inch of your pussy up.” He said tauntingly. I can't take it anymore either you stick your fingers back in me or I'm going to go mad.
I let out a sharp gasp as he rubbed the head of his cock over my slit while teasingly pushing in me. “ P-Pleeease K'uk'ulkan-aah I want you inside me please fuck me p-” He slowly pushed into me and I couldn’t help but bite my lip and wrap my legs around him. “Fuuck why are you so big!” I whine as he continues to push in. “You wanted me to fuck you so badly and didn’t listen to what I said about properly preparing you.” His hand caressed the side of my face as he leaned down to meet my lips.
Finally bottoming out he groaned. “Let me take care of you my queen.” I pulled for him to be closer and he kissed my neck obeying my request. K'uk'ulkan finally started to move his hip rhythmically and I couldn’t hold back my moans. No one and I mean no one I’ve ever had sex with fucked me like this before. My body was on fire everything was sensitive there was no way I was going to last long. But judging how he was moaning into my neck and whispering nothing but dirty things he wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. I clench down at the thought of him fucking me to the verge of overstimulation. He seems like the type to make you beg for it even when you wanted to tap out. “Fuck Adella! Stop doing that!” He practically growled out but that didn’t help his case it was only turning me on more. He cursed under his breath and gripped my throat, staring directly into my eyes while rolling his hips aggressively into me. The sound of my squelching pussy and his grunt alone could push me over the edge. “Don't you dare cum yet!” He squeezed my throat a little harder making me moan out. “When I fill the pretty little pussy up with my cum then you can okay.” He sped up his pace and I gripped his arm trying to withhold from cumming. He dipped his head lower to near my ear and nipped it, “does that turn you on little one?” He aggressively kissed my lip now rutting into me trying to get deeper than he always was. “Hm the thought of me putting a baby in you huh?” No matter how hard I tried words didn’t come out only my loud moans and the aggressive creak of the bed that was bound to break and second now.
“Words my love!” He demanded as he pounded into me. “FUCK YES I-I WANT YOU TO CUM IN MEEE BR-BREED ME,” I screamed not being able to stop my orgasm from coming. I felt his smirk against my cheek as he released my neck. He lifted my hips up angling his cock to my Gspot and relentlessly pounded into it. I clenched down hard as the pressure built up, causing him to curse from the tightest. I go to reach for him to come back closer to me but I’m flung back with an overwhelming electrifying orgasm.
I felt a gush of liquid run down making him breathlessly chuckle. But that soon turned into him moaning gripping my hips as he emptied his hot thick cum into me. Not even with a second to spare he lifted me up and put me on top with his cock still in me. I tensed up thinking he was about to go for another round but he kissed more forehead and pushed my head back down. “Let's just stay like this for a bit.”

Bello Licentiae Chapter 24: Beginning of the End
Summary:
tw: classism, ptsd, trauma mentions, suicide mention, torture mention 'text' JSL Text thoughts
"Do you want to tell us why Deika City is flattened?" Aizawa drawled once Eri was in bed. Hitoshi stared at Akira as they grimaced.
' First of all, not my fault, ' Akira quickly clarified. ' Wildfire failed to communicate once they had cell service that the group claimed to have Broker. He's expecting me to call to talk about next steps.' They coughed, a black globule falling out of their mouth as more started to pour from their throat. Before enveloped, they cursed and managed to sign, ' Supposed to warn me. '
Mortis glared at the doctor as they appeared next to him. ' You just took me in front of his kid. This is why Wildfire was going to warn me. I could've told you to wait a minute. '
"It's no matter, Aizawa knows the plan," the Doctor waved them off. His eyes roamed hungrily over their form while he sat in a spinning desk chair.
Mortis' eye twitched in confusion as they took in the dark lab. Behind him were rows of monitors, and in their periphery, they could see tall vats of purple goo containing what used to be people. "Now, from my understanding, I'm to allow you use of my high end nomu to remove brainwashing. Correct?"
' Yes, then- '
"And what are you to give me in return? A few analyses? Your quirk? Your body to work with?" the Doctor scoffed. "Shigaraki may have proven himself, but you have yet to."
Mortis inwardly bristled but focused on playing the part. Which part though? Mortis signed in a forced calm, 'All for One didn't make my end of the deal clear other than the limitations on my assistance: nothing I'm uncomfortable with. I offered the League my analyses of their quirks, which would lead to more efficient use and suggestions for support items.'
The Doctor hummed, making their skin crawl as he stalked toward them. He circled them, and it took most of their focus just to stop their capture scarf from snapping out. "I suppose that's a start. Tell me, did you know bodies that go through forced quirk manifestation can adapt faster to new quirks? We don't get our hands on many of those these days. Give me a high end..." the Doctor reached for their shoulder.
Mortis whipped away, hand going for a dagger as they peered into the darkness for potential exits. He merely tsked and waddled back to his chair. "Or you can give me Erasure."
Mortis immediately shook their head, ' Neither of those I'm comfortable with. I saw the files. People who go through FQM have their drawback exaggerated even further by more quirks. Even if I was open to the idea, the drawback would render me useless. '
"And Erasure?" the Doctor asked, lips twitching downward against his calculating facade.
' Not on the table, ' Mortis signed sharply.
"What a pity," the Doctor sighed. "Back then, I really wanted to get my hands on Erasure instead." At their lack of reaction, he raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Has the little street rat figure it out already? Perhaps your analysis will be of some use after all. If those children improve enough in one month, I'll consider granting my end of the bargain."
After confirming, Mortis started coughing up more of the black ooze, shuddering as it enveloped and deposited them next to Aizawa. They coughed a few more times to ensure it was out before blinking up at the hero, who looked relieved.
"They're back," Aizawa said into his phone before hanging up. "How are you feeling, kid? Let me get you some tea."
Akira nodded and sank into the armchair, soon joined by a quieter-than-usual Oboro. Bastard glared up at them and swatted the white cat's tail. Akira rolled their eyes and scooped the tuxedo onto the other arm of the chair, where he begrudgingly settled while flicking his tail in their face. Hitoshi openly stared at them from where he had frozen in a petting motion, Puddles' tail poking out from under the couch.
"So, is that normal?" Hitoshi finally asked as Aizawa brought tea over.
' No, they just got in contact with someone, and that was him bringing me to meet him, ' Akira shuddered. The tea slid down their throat much smoother than the ooze came up, but they still had to resist the urge to gag. After a few sips, they continued, ' The quirk uses familiar people like Kurogiri's uses coordinates. I need to talk with Sleepy Cat and Loud Cockatoo alone. It's about the other part Raven mentioned. '
Hitoshi frowned and settled further into the couch. "No."
"Hitoshi," Aizawa started in a warning tone.
"No!" He snapped. "Akira, you keep pushing us away like we're not ready for some grand stage. You keep saying it's too dangerous, it's too big. Well, guess what? We. Don't. Care. We want to help you, and we can't do that if we don't know what's going on."
' You also can't be targeted if you don't know what's going on ,' Akira harshly signed. Their gaze pierced into his, desperately trying to make them understand even though they knew that he'd already decided. That this was always going to end this way. ' The only people who know are people who know out of necessity, figured enough out I had to tell them, or I specifically allowed in because of their connections and abilities. Things will start moving faster now, and I can't put you in more danger. '
"We're already in danger," Hitoshi seethed, lurching to his feet to tower over them. Akira pushed themself up to stare right back. "You keep talking as if being a hero, even a hero in training, is safe. There's a chance any of us could get injured or die out there on work studies or even in a training accident."
Akira flinched, remembering the far too many "accidents" that befell Wren children. When they remained still, Hitoshi spun on their heel with a scoff and stormed off to his room, slamming the door. Akira continued at Aizawa's quizzical look, ' Kidnapping a Wren wasn't supposed to happen until two years after I got my hero license. If the League shows enough improvement from my analysis in a month, it may happen as soon as winter break. I don't know what the Doctor's plans are, but the sheer numbers they have... I don't know how long they'll wait. '
"In that case, it would be logical to start looking for targets while you refine your analysis," Aizawa said. "Zashi knows more of the theory behind it, and I know more of the practical side. Ask us anything anytime, but I need to check on Toshi."
'Try focusing on just the leaf, ' Akira suggested while watching Shigaraki struggle with his quirk.
He growled as his quirk slipped and destroyed another plant. "How is this even relevant? I don't need to grind 0 xp things anymore. I can wipe the whole boss!"
Akira smiled patiently and explained again. ' For combat, you can cause more pain and demoralize the npc's if you take them apart gradually. You could weaken structures without visible damage by targeting small sections. For support, you can remove infected areas, handcuffs, maybe even things like cancer if it's near the surface. '
Armed with a folder of lesson plans for each member, Akira had support item ideas for some and new uses or applications of their quirk for others. They mainly focused on control with Shigaraki, targeting specific areas and eventually layers instead of destroying the whole. For Spinner, they worked on the noises he could make below the hearing range of most people, as well as exercises to stretch the extra skin running from his shoulders to hips. While possible they wouldn't be significant enough to glide with, Akira wondered if Gecko was similar to Tsu's Frog in combining aspects from multiple species.
Mr. Compress knew his limits well but was startled when Akira pointed out that if his quirk worked through his costume's gloves, it wasn't necessarily limited to his fingers. From there, he worked on retraining his instincts to compress objects and people with other parts of his body instead of relying on his hand. Theoretically, it could work through his prosthetic arm, but he wasn't in the right headspace for that. Mr. Compress was already adjusting to one of the prosthetics they found in the tower, its Tinker signature remarkably similar to the ones circulating the black market.
Dabi had spent the most time training his quirk, so Akira emphasized the importance of being able to cool down with heat-resistant support items. There were some they looted from Deika City, but they needed to be adjusted to withstand higher temperatures and be gentler on his scars. Those would also help with the pain, making his flames easier to control and shape. Magne also had a solid grasp of her quirk and a good support item, so Akira mostly worked with her on how gender-neutral people react to her quirk and on the theory that more genderfluid or multi-gender people might react to it.
Twice was... more complicated. The more time Akira spent with him, the more they started to recognize that the contradictions he voiced mostly happened when he was stressed or had some kind of internal conflict. They seemed less like rapid mood changes and more like separate people. Akira was by no means qualified to help with his trauma, so their sessions primarily focused on interpreting what little sensory input he could get from the clones and figuring out how accurate he needed to be in measurements. Eyeballing measurements started with formless blobs but with practice, he started to get closer approximations of clones.
One day after training, Akira hesitated at the door. ' This isn't training related, at least I don't think, ' they started choppily. ' I... I don't want to intrude, but you know the paper I did earlier this semester? On Forced Quirk Manifestation? '
Twice's expression grew thoughtful through the mask, and he nodded after a moment. "Did you need more sources?"
'What? No, the paper's fine,' Akira flushed, trying to find the right words. 'We've talked about how Strangers have a harder time with our sense of self, right? I... learned about disorders like DID and OSDD to better understand how those can present in some cases but not others, and-' they rushed on, signing in a blur.
Twice held a hand up as his expression morphed into understanding, "Video games."
Their breath left them in a woosh. At least that part was answered. ' And... I've noticed sometimes you're... different? Not in a bad way, just sometimes you'll mention how you like something and then another day you'll hate it or the shifts in stance partway through a conversation. '
He sighed, sitting on the ratty couch and motioning for them to do the same. "Dabi did say you'd come looking for answers at some point. We are a system, although diagnosis would be dangerous and complicated."
Akira nodded along, relieved this hadn't shattered the tenuous acquaintanceship they'd built up. ' Do you want me to continue using 'Twice' or ask who's fronting or do you have a... civilian sign name? '
Twice patiently watched for a bit, only interrupting once they circled back around, "I'm Iroh, zi/him pronouns. Twice is fine if you don't know who's fronting. Some may start introducing themselves as they feel comfortable. You can ask, but it's not always clear even to us. Most of the time, it'll be Jin or Haru, both he/him."
Hitoshi drifted away as Akira spent more time with the League and in planning sessions with Aizawa. He spent more and more time with Bakusquad and Monoma when Akira was with Mad Banquet, even not spending lunch with the group about a week after their fight.
"Did something happen between you and Shinso?" Shoto asked a few days after Hitoshi stopped eating with them.
' He's getting a front-row seat to plans I can't let any of you in on, ' Akira sighed in resignation. 'This was going to happen eventually, but things are moving faster now, so it makes a sick sort of sense that this would start sooner, too. '
Fumikage started to stand, Dark Shadow buzzing and distorting. "I'll speak with them."
Akira caught his arm just long enough to make him pause. ' He's well within their right to step away. All of you are, and I won't blame you when you do. '
Koji frowned as Fumikage's feathers stood on end and Dark Shadow recoiled. "We told you we're going to stick with you, and we meant it," Koji said quietly but with an edge in his voice. "Just because Hitoshi couldn't handle it doesn't mean we can't."
"We are the mad banquet like I told you that night," Fumikage added, a fire in his eyes. "We stand together in the darkness."
Keenly aware of Hitoshi covertly watching from the doorway, Akira shook their head. ' You say that now, but soon it will be much harder to stand by. You can't be associated with me once things start rolling because that will make you targets. '
"We'll find a way," Shoto intoned, and Aoyama nodded firmly.
Akira looked to the latter in surprise. He knew what they were doing, and he still... They shoved down the small voice of hope that maybe they were wrong about this. Hitoshi already proved them right, and they couldn't be disappointed if they expected the worst.
With a month left before final exams, work studies ended so they could have time to study. The League was making progress, but they couldn't be sure it would be enough for the Doctor. With Aizawa's help, they narrowed down their abductees to MC Wren, who could compel everyone in a radius to follow a pre-written script, and Hijack Wren, who could completely control another's actions and quirk but remained incapacitated while doing so. Both could easily have an accident while focused on their quirks, and they were just powerful enough to be displayed. At their young ages of 17 and 18, respectively, they were also unlikely to have started torturing younger family members, so they were at lower risk for suicide if the reversal was successful.
"Today, we're conducting a joint training session with 1-B," Aizawa announced as the class emerged in their gear for heroics. He stood next to Vlad, each with a box in their hands with their respective class letter. "You'll be going head-to-head in teams of four to battle it out. The team to capture four members of the opposing will win, and you'll each draw lots to see which team you're on."
Everyone breathed a small sigh of relief at Katsuki and Midoriya not being on a team for once. Still, Akira groaned as Yaoyorozu pulled out a "3," making the last member of their team with Kirishima and Aoyama. While she had finally started putting on weight and had snack pouches, the rich girl was still a pain in the ass to deal with. Akira even got her for the Secret Santa the class decided on.
' Do you feel comfortable interpreting, or do I need Anii? ' Akira turned to Kirishima.
"I'm struggling a bit, to be honest, keeping up while multitasking," Kirishima chuckled nervously. "It would probably be better to have Anii."
Akira just nodded and motioned her over, explaining the situation as 1-B drew their lots. Aoyama had too much going on in the first term to learn JSL on top of everything else, so he was even newer to the language than Kirishima.
Notes:
I did randomize 1-A's teams and technically rolled for 1-B as well, but I ended up pairing up some of the interesting fights in canon. I thought RNJesus had a love/hate relationship with Bakugo and Midoriya, but it turns out it's just for Akira and Momo lol I debated putting the scene with twice in Libertias aut Mortis but it fits here a bit better I was so sad when I realized this is where their friendship was going. They were gonna be siblings to the end, but the whole situation is so unfair for Hitoshi, and Fumikage wound up with the scenes that pushed his friendship with Akira into the place Hitoshi was supposed to occupy.

Amoreena | Chapter two

Chapter Two
summary: Heaven is a real place and it's located exactly 14.6 miles away from the FBI, Quantico Headquarters. Off behind a small park, under a fantastical willow tree surrounded by wildflowers, in every colour young minds can imagine.
Don't forget, heaven also comes with angels.
Warnings: fluff, hurt/comfort, depressed spencer, reader has a daughter, falling in love, strangers to lovers
word count: 6k
a/n: this is set May 2021 in my brain just in case anyone was wondering while reading it !! here is the pinterest board and the spotify playlist for the fic too!
from the beginning <3
They were sitting on the steps of the Smithsonian when he arrived. Y/N was a vision in a yellow blouse and blue jeans, basking in the sun's rays when she looked more like sunshine herself, throwing seed at the birds with Amoreena.
He took a deep breath and smiled, waving to get their attention.
“Spencer!” Amoreena cheered, running down the steps and into his arms. Almost knocking her hat off as she leapt into his arms.
“Oof,” is all he can say as he makes sure to catch her, surprised to get this sort of reaction from someone.
She fixes her hat and leans back in his arms, “do you like my outfit? I’m the old man from Tarzan and mom is Jane!”
He sets her down then, watching her stick a foot out so he can get a good look at her olive-coloured jean shorts, button-up shirt and blue bowtie and brown boots. She went all out for her adventure today, making his heart burst.
“I looked into that Milo guy,” he says, showing off his own outfit. Pushing his glasses up and adjusting his red bowtie.
“You look just like him!!!” She was beyond excited, turning to Y/N who was all smiles on the steps.
She stood as they walked towards her, “mom look, he’s Milo!”
“You look great,” she complimented him, that twinkle in her eyes back as she blushed.
“Thank you, so do you,” he said softly. “Both of you are dressed for the right adventure today.”
“What do you have in store Mr. tour guide?” Y/N teased, taking Amoreena’s hand and walking into the museum.
“Dr. Tour guide,” he corrects her softly, making her smile and shove him lightly.
“Sorry,” she teased him, “Doctor tour guide, what is your plan for today?”
“I bought 3 tickets ahead of time,” Spencer admits, taking three lanyards out of his jacket pocket and handing them each one. “We have special access today, just show the guards these and we can go almost anywhere.”
“Are you sure you don’t work here? Not even undercover?” Amoreena interrogated him, narrowing her eyes as she watched his response.
He laughed, “I promise, I helped them on a case once, and my old boss knows the curator, they owed me a favour.”
“Old boss?” Y/N catches it.
He nods lightly, “he quit a while ago to have a family.”
“Smart man.”
“I sent in my letter of resignation last night,” he adds, “if you’re still looking for a literary historian?”
She beamed at him, reaching out an arm to tuck under his and pull him in close. Following him through the doors with Amoreena’s hand still in hers. “I’ll arrange an interview this week.”
The rotunda was one of the coolest parts of the Smithsonian Museum of National History. A beautiful African Bush Elephant greets them in the centre, tusks extending out towards them as Amoreena gasps.
“Wow,” her small voice whispers.
“Cool, huh?” Spencer leans to look at her expression, she’s absolutely gobsmacked.
It makes him smile, that beautiful glimmer of amazement spreading across her face as her small brain tries to understand what exists in the world outside of her mind's grasp. It was priceless, he loved every moment.
“So, I was thinking you could look around and whenever you’re ready, we have access to the Student Centre. You’re going to get to look at some special bones and fossils, and even dig some up!” He was so excited to share the plans with her.
She let go of her mom's hand to flap her arms wildly, excitement coursing through her veins as she shook, grinding her teeth together as she smiled, it was how he remembered feeling as a child when something good happened. Pure joy, excitement level 1000.
“Sound good?”
“Spencer,” Y/N placed her hand on his shoulder, taking over for the speechless child, “that sounds perfect, thank you.”
“The Dino’s are this way,” he leads them down the corridor, through a set of doors towards a large swirling sign,
“Journey through deep time!” Y/N read the sign, smiling at Amoreena as she ran towards it, touching the swirl as she read all the words to herself.
“It’s so sad they died,” Amoreena says so matter of factly that it makes him bite back a smile.
“Yeah,” he agrees with a small laugh. Y/N's shaking her head with a sigh of pure love. “What kind of dinosaur is your favourite?”
“The Jurassic era,” she responds, standing closer to the sign and reading all the words. “Did you know the earth used to be mostly desert? There was a massive heatwave, that’s why they believe dinosaurs were most likely scaled but thanks to the melting ice caps as we recover from the ice age and move back towards being tropical, we’re discovering dinosaurs frozen in ice with feathers and fur!”
It takes his breath away, seeing someone so much like him with a mother who loves every single word that leaves her mouth. Pride on her face as she looks at her little genius and back towards Spencer, waiting for his response.
“So you’ve been a paleontologist this whole time and you never told me?”
She laughs and swats the air, “no, I just read a lot of books.”
“She can read really fast, like Matilda,” Y/N bragged.
“I do too,” Spencer knelled down in front of her. “It’s a very wonderful thing to have a brain as big and magical as ours, never let anyone tell you otherwise okay?”
“Never, I’m the smartest in the kingdom,” Amoreena smiled.
“Yes, she is,” Y/N smiled again, placing her hand on Spencer's back as they continued to walk around the exhibits.
He felt like he had a family, like one of those couples who would go to Ikea and pretend they lived in the sets. This was the most perfect make-believe day of his life, leading a child just like him through a world of things she loved.
Y/N was quiet most of the day, watching them interact with a soft smile and sad eyes. Spencer noticed it but let it slide, he’d ask her about it later when she could be honest with him. He didn’t want to profile her, it wasn’t fair to judge her before he knew her, nor taint the fantastical thoughts he already had about her.
They had lunch in the butterfly exhibit, sitting at the seat by the fountain, Amoreena asking nicely if Spencer could sit in the middle so they could both talk to him. It was adorable, Amoreena was so intrigued by his mind she couldn’t stop asking him questions.
Y/N made him a sandwich and brought him a water bottle, as well as bringing some apple slices and grapes, goldfish and juice boxes for when Amoreena got hungry on the way home. Like a true mom, her purse was full of napkins and hair ties, random books and toys. Rocks, pine cones, everything a young mind would find exciting.
She was like Marry Poppins, pulling everything and then some out of her purse as she searched for something specific. “I brought you something, I’ve had it sitting around the house just moving it to different spots over the years, and thought you’d like it.”
It made him giddy to know she was thinking about him, he couldn’t sit still as he anticipated what it was. She pulled a small metal pin out of her bag then, taking the backing off and clipping it to his pocket.
“Best tour guide ever,” she whispered, reading the words to him with a smile.
“We haven’t even gotten to the best part yet,” he shrugged, pushing down the butterflies in his stomach as they were swarmed by the beautiful creatures.
“It’s like animal crossing in here,” Amoreena said to herself as she looked around, kicking her feet as she sat on the bench, tilting her head back and forth absentmindedly as she took it all in.
He wasn’t sure when he stopped doing that; when he started to mask his true self so much that he no longer felt free in public, taking a moment to copy her movements and just enjoy the moment. Making her smile as she noticed him copy her with adoration, not to tease her in any way whatsoever.
“Can we talk when she’s looking at the fossils?” He asks Y/N softly, knowing that she’ll be the most open when Amoreena’s tiny ears wouldn’t be there to remember everything she says.
“Yeah,” she nods with a small smile. “How about I throw out our garbage and we head to that surprise?”
Amoreena jumped off the bench, tugging Spencer towards the door as Y/N cleaned up, following them eventually.
They had the classroom all to themselves and Amoreena was still for the first time all day. Standing in the middle of the room as the lights adjusted, changing the glow from blue to amber as they warmed.
The walls were filled with posters and informative signs, there were glass cases showcasing all the finest fossils and bones known to man. And a sand table in the middle of the room, smocks and brushes for archaeology all set up and waiting for her.
“Once you get all suited up, and we’ll get you a little mask so you don’t breathe in any of the dirt and dust, you can dig up whatever is hidden in there!” Spencer announced.
Y/N helped her into a smock, handing her the brushes and asking her to be extra careful with the plastic chisel and hammer. She was beaming from ear to ear the most toothy smile he’s ever seen.
Y/N stopped to take a photo of her then, holding her instruments in front of the sand table, “get in, we’ll tell everyone that Milo took us on a special tour today.”
Spencer kneeled close to Amoreena, she leaned in and wrapped an arm around him to get him in closer, always being the one to choose how much contact she made with Spencer. He would never want to overstep with someone else’s child.
“Beautiful!” Y/N cheered, locking her phone and slipping it back into her jeans as Amoreena turned to the table of sand, dirt and clay.
She got right to work, not skipping a beat as she leaned in and started to dig. Spencer stepped back with Y/N, knowing Amoreena was going to be in her own little world for as long as they left her alone.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m great, I’m just a little surprised,” her voice is soft, low enough that it stays with him. “You’re really good with her for a fed.”
He laughed, nodding his head as he registered her joke. “Ex fed, and I have a 12-year-old godson, Henry.”
“Ahh, so no kids of your own?” Her voice was small, she took a look at his hand to avoid eye contact and he understood.
“None, no wife, no love children hiding out there in the world that I know of, it’s just me, I promise,” he tried his best to ease her anxiety about introducing a new man into her child’s life.
She nods slightly, “you seem too good to be true sometimes.”
He huffed out a small laugh, pressing his lips together as he looked at her, “pretty sure I’ve been dreaming since I saw you.”
She shoved him as she laughed, “would you like to come back to our place for dinner? I know it’s a little weird, believe me, I know, but we live on my parent's land and my mom’s making enough shepherds pie to feed an army.”
“Yeah I’d love to, I’ll get a cab home after,” he felt a swirling in his stomach, nervous and excited all at once.
“Okay,” she whispered, “or we can get to know each other, and then you could sleep on the couch and I’ll bring you back into DC in the morning? I have to drive in any way.”
He licked his lips and nodded his head, wondering what other kind of invitation this could be. If it was pure hospitality, wanting him to be safe for the night instead of inside some stranger's car, or was she wanting alone time with him.
The thoughts turned around in his head over and over making him dizzy, “okay, yeah I’d love to,” he managed to slip the words out without falling over them.
She smiled, tight-lipped and small. Looking up at him with a new look he hasn’t seen on her yet, one he’s only seen in a few faces in his time, and yet he believed her’s the most.
She was smitten with him as much as he was with her.
He sighed, smiling back at her just as soft. She reached her hand out to hold his, walking towards the table with him in tow. Leaning over Amoreena’s shoulder as she unearthed her new most prized possessions.
Amoreena was the funniest kid to drive with, He sat in the passenger seat of Y/N’s car with her in a car seat directly behind him. She was singing, cheering, pointing out the window to show him all her favourite things on the way to her house.
Telling him stories about the make-believe people she created to live in the houses, the trolls under bridges and the names of every cow in the field along the long driveway of her grandparent's farm.
“Bob and Linda are an interesting pair,” she warned him as they pulled in closer and closer. Dirt flying up behind the wheels as she drove fast, knowing every bump and turn from memory.
“They will be asking you every question in the book and if you’re going to be looking at the animals they will insist on putting you in flannel and a cowboy hat, it’s a tradition for visitors,” she explained it in a way where he knew she wanted him to think she hated it, but actually she looked excited to do it to him.
“I can’t wait,” he smiled.
“Amoreena has already told them all about you at dinner last night, so they are expecting her to drag you here tonight,” she pushed the blame onto Amoreena, downplaying her affection for him in a self-conscious way he could feel.
He didn’t want to profile her, but it wouldn’t turn off. He was desperate to know her more, to know if she felt the weird tugging in her heart that made him think soulmates might be real. A pain so intense that if he had to explain it to a doctor, it was like his heart was a negative charge and he was being drawn to her much more positive one.
“We have 16 cats, 46 cows, 13 chickens, 4 ducks, 50 sheep and 1 horse, her name is buttercup,” Amoreena informed him, stealing the attention once again.
“Wow, who’s your favourite?” Spencer turned to her, watching her kick her feet as she looked out the windows.
“Probably Alfonzo our fluffy show cow, or Rufus, our dog,” she said softly. “Sometimes nanny lets him sleep at our house.”
“That’s so cool, I’ve never had a pet.”
“What?!” Amoreena stopped, pressing her lips together as her eyes shot wide open, thinking it was the most absurd thing anyone has ever said.
“My mom was sick when I was growing up so I spent my time taking care of her, I didn’t have time for a dog,” he said softly, saying it in a way that wouldn’t scare her.
“I’m sorry,” Y/N said softly, reaching her hand out to pat his knee as she kept her eyes on the road.
Then she was pulling in past a big house, around the bend behind it, past the garden and the trail to the barn towards another house. It was big and white, probably big enough to have 4 bedrooms. Many levels, with multiple build-ons from years ago ageing to match eventually.
It was covered in vines, ivy and flowers. It was just like miss honeys. He felt something unspeakable, opening his mouth softly to breathe as his eyes trailed up the siding to the shingles.
He couldn’t believe it.
“Home sweet home,” her wonderful voice brought him back to reality. Saying the word that matched the feeling in his chest.
“Wow,” he whispered. His mouth moved to say words, not a single one slipped through the cracks, his lips touching with fake syllables as he stared at it.
“It was my grandma’s, it’s the house she raised my dad in,” Y/N explained as she put the car in park.
“Mommy had me as a gift for GG,” Amoreena added from the back.
“Her great-grandma,” Y/N nodded with a soft smile, biting the inside of her lip as she fought her feelings. That was a touchy subject that he was going to pry into, later on, wanting to know every single thing about the most exceptional women in the world.
There was a cat sitting on their front step, introduced to him as toothpick because he was the smallest in the last litter. And then the name of every single cat on the way back up to the main house.
Simon and Gar-funk-field twin orange brothers, Alaska the all-white one, strawberry shortcake had a red heart on her butt, oven-mitt for comedic effect obviously as if they others weren’t funny enough, as well as shovel and Catrina… all 16 of them had a name and Spencer was not going to forget a single one.
“Welcome! You must be Doctor Reid,” her father was a very large man, it shocked Spencer slightly.
He was like Santa Clause, it was more than a bit of a shock. Thick grey beard, bald head, red flannel and dirty work jeans, probably in his late 60’s. He was what you imagined Santa to look like outside of Christmas, on holiday with his wife.
He looked like a man who lived a long and happy life, he had a wife who cooked good meals for him, he probably didn’t mind sitting back with a beer most nights. There was definitely going to be sports memorabilia inside and a million photos of Y/N and Amoreena, and the purest energy known to man. Family love.
He hated how fast he profiled it all in his mind, trying to drop that aspect of his inner monologue moving forward.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Sir,” he said softly, nodding lightly as he placed his hands in his pockets. Letting it be known he didn’t touch people, and weirdly being respected.
“Please, it’s Bob or Poppy Clause,” he laughed, shifting his attention to Amoreena as she climbed the stairs towards the porch.
“How is my lovey?” Bob asked her softly, “may I have a welcome home hug?”
“Ah,” he smiled and nodded to himself. He was used to it, asking permission for her sensory issues. Spencer was impressed, and a bit emotional at the fact someone his age was respecting a way of life many didn’t care to understand.
Amoreena gave him a hug, throwing herself into his arms, “no beard tickles,” she instructed, holding onto his shoulders as he kept his face away from her.
Y/N placed her hand on Spencers back, “I told you they were a lot, my mom is worse.”
“I feel very comfortable here, don’t worry,” he assured her.
“I should worry,” she laughed, “you’re one of them, oh god.”
“One of who?”
She tilted her head at him, shaking her head, “eccentric, full of life, bursting with weirdness that would probably be a strange purple goo if I could see it.”
He pressed his lips together as he thought about it, nodding softly in agreement. “There is nothing wrong with that, it just means I’m having fun and living my best life from now on.”
“Welcome to the family,” Bob added, a simple saying that invoked a feeling of pride he long yearned for.
Dinner was lovely, he’s never had shepherd’s pie before. Learning it was ground beef, beans and potato casserole, and somehow there was also corn in there… he wasn’t sure why it was so delicious but he enjoyed it a lot.
It might have simply been the ambiance that made it so good.
Her mother was the sweetest woman, she made everything from scratch. Including bread that he was obsessed with and a pie for dessert, she was overjoyed to have an expected yet unexpected guest.
Knowing there was a possibility he’d come, but not setting a place for him at the table unless he showed. She wrapped him up in a big hug when he arrived as well as after dinner when he helped her move the plates to the sink.
Her dad offered him a beer after dinner, taking him to the front porch to talk while the ladies cleaned up for the night. Amoreena had a strict bedtime routine to stick to, and it wasn’t his place to witness nor get in the way.
“So,” her dad started the interrogation easily. “I’m sure you wouldn’t be here if Y/N didn’t trust you. And she doesn’t trust many people.”
“I can promise you I’ll never hurt either of them,” he said with the utmost confidence. “It’s been two days and they’ve brought me more joy than I can explain, and I’m never going to take that for granted.”
“Good answer,” he smiled. “Now, farmhouse rules are as follows; you can roam where ever you please, just ask permission before using any equipment, we’re more of a petting zoo than a farm now so the animals are overly friendly, try and keep them inside the gates.”
He was a bit flustered, computing the fact that he just trusted him like that. Maybe he was Santa Clause, making a list and checking it twice, and Spencer happened to cross off every box to land him on the nice one.
“Sounds good,” he smiled. “Thank you.”
“Believe me, sonny, I know what it’s like to want to impress the old man, but it’s all about Amoreena,” Bob warned him. “If she loves you then so will Y/N, and she falls fast.”
He couldn’t help but chuckle, “I’m the same way.”
“That’s what Y/N was saying, I think it’ll be good for Amoreena to know someone like her, we try our best to get her out there and making friends, she’s smart enough to move up some grades but she’s a kid, y’know?” Her father basically describing his own childhood back to him.
“I graduated high school at 13,” he presses his lips together, hoping it doesn’t come off as a brag. Taking a sip of his beer to take the edge off how awkward he felt.
“Do you regret it?”
“No,” he smiled at Bob, who was smiling right back, “it led me here.”
Bob hummed in response, taking a sip as well as he sat back in his rocking chair, watching over the cows in the field as the sun began to set. It was picture perfect, unbelievable.
Wet feet on the hardwood floor caught his attention then, Amoreena was in her PJ’s as she ran towards the door. Putting on her rubber boots and swinging open the screen door.
Her hair was wet, falling into her eyes as she pushed it out of the way, “are you joining the parade and dance party?”
He acted like he knew what that meant, “sure?”
“Yes!” She cheered, “hurry up mom!!”
Y/N walked down the steps slowly, shaking her head as she laughed. “You are so impatient, the animals aren’t going anywhere.”
“No, but Spencer will!”
It made his heartache, the thought of leaving.
“Come on,” she slipped back into her shoes and joined them on the porch. “Off we go, see you later dad.”
“Be good, make wise choices,” he teased her.
“Okay old fart, sleep well,” they had a friendship that was admirable.
Spencer followed with glee as Amoreena said goodnight to all the animals, parading down the path towards their house as she made sure to talk to everything on the way there.
“Every night we pick 2 songs to dance to, it gets all the sillies out and rewards us for a day well spent so we can bless our bodies with a good sleep,” Y/N explains as she unlocks the front door.
A cottage full of books in the middle of the woods, that dream he always had, coming true as she ushered him inside. The smell of coffee drifting towards him as he noticed the brown candle on the mantle surrounded by photos of Y/N and her family.
She placed her keys beside it, kicking off her shoes and making sure Amoreena did the same. In the living room, she connected her phone to a set of speakers, letting the little one pick out 2 songs, queueing them up to play as she bounced with anticipation.
“Tonight’s selection is today was a fairytale by miss Swift, and Anne Hathaway’s cover of somebody to love, form the cinematic masterpiece that is Ella Enchanted,” Y/N announced like she was hosting the grammies, pretending her phone was the mic before hitting play.
He knew somebody to love, the Elton John version, it was a song that Penelope and Emily sang at karaoke when they reached 11 shots each, so not very often. But enough to have him remember the words, singing along with them as they danced.
It was a better workout than Derek had ever put him through, they held hands and jumped around, he twirled Amoreena around, pretending to do the tango with Y/N. Waving their arms in the air, it was the most carefree he has been in ages.
The songs fit the situation more perfectly than any of them seem to realize, he’s falling head over heels in love with this family that he met yesterday. Something in him saying that he needs to stay, that this is where he was supposed to be.
Getting Amoreena into bed was more difficult than Y/N imagined, she didn’t want to stop talking to Spencer. Only finally agreeing to sleep when she learned he would still be there for breakfast in the morning.
“Can you read me a book from your brain?” Her sleep-deprived eyes blinked as she asked him softly.
He looked at Y/N from the doorway, she nodded, patting the bed for Spencer to sit on the edge.
“Any book?”
“Any book.”
“Bedtime for baby star,” he says softly. Remembering all the late night’s he’s heard JJ whisper it on the back of the plane, in the corner of a police precinct in the middle of nowhere, in a twin bed beside his as they shared a hotel room.
“Once there was a baby star, she lived up by the sun. And every night at bedtime, that baby star wanted to have some fun,” he recited the words in an exciting tone, just low enough to soothe her into sleep. “She would sine and sine and fall and shoot and twinkle, oh so bright, and she said ‘Mommy! I’ll run away if you make me say goodnight.’”
Y/N looked at her with a fake stern look, leaning in enough to rub their noses together. “And then her mommy kissed her sparkly nose and said, no matter where you go,”
Y/N kissed her on the nose, “no matter where you go,” she repeated.
“No matter where you are, no matter how big you grow and even if you stray far,” to which Y/N repeated. “I’ll love you forever because you’ll always be my baby star.”
“Goodnight my sweet Amoreena,” Y/N kissed her head softly and stood, Spencer, joined her by the door.
“Can I have a hug?” She asked him softly, he looked at Y/N for approval once again.
She placed a hand on his back as she nodded, watching him lean in and hold Amoreena softly, “goodnight, I had a fun day today.”
“See you tomorrow,” she smiled, closing her eyes for the night.
Y/N replaced her lamp light with a night light, closing the door on the way out of her room as she blew a kiss towards her baby, “love you.”
“Love you more,” Amoreena whispered back.
Spencer was nothing but smiles in the hall as she looked at him, “I’m going to pour myself some wine and sit in the garden, are you interested?”
“Ecstatic actually,” he replied, following her towards the kitchen and letting her pour him a glass.
Behind her house, she had an overgrown garden, every area of her life had a reference to a book somewhere, a story someone else told that she’s now claimed as her own. Living in the world she always wanted, inviting Spencer to stay a while.
She let out a deep sigh as she sat down on the outdoor couch beside him, dropping her head on his shoulder softly, it was more contact than he was expecting. She had barely touched him.
“You should know that I like you a lot,” Spencer spoke softly. “I don’t want you to think I’m just some creep trying to get close to you and your kid, I genuinely think you’re wonderful and Amoreena is magnificent.”
“I trust you, I googled you and everything, don’t worry,” she laughs. “I wouldnt invite you to the museum and let you give my kid a hug without doing research.”
“Not everything is on there you know.”
“I think you are very wonderful as well,” she said softly, “but I know it’s just the fact that you’re so darn cute that’s making me feel like I should drop everything and invite you into our life.”
“I understand,” he replied. Waiting for her to tell him that this was the last time she’d see him, it was inevitable at this point in his life. Nothing good lasted for long.
“So I need you to know all about me and I need to know all about you before you decide you want to stay because I can’t handle bringing you into Amoreena’s life for you to just leave her,” another deflection.
“You might want to hear mine first before you decide if you want me to stay around her,” it sounded scarier than he planned.
“Alright then, you go first,” she insisted with a small smile, eyes darting past him towards the cows in the field. Not ready to be vulnerable with him.
“I worked with the FBI for 15 years, I’ve helped catch some of the worst people in America, and some of them have vendetta’s against me. As far fetched and insane as that sounds,” he pre-warned her, watching her face drop as she understood the weight of his words.
“I have been framed and sent to prison for three months, I was kidnaped, tortured, drugged, and assaulted, not to mention shot a few times. I have more trauma than you can imagine. So that’s something you have to consider in a future with me,” he whispered so she wouldn’t hear how ashamed he was of himself.
“And the fact know that I can’t always keep myself or you safe, no matter how far disconnected I am from the FBI. It doesn’t matter if I change my name and hide here for the rest of my life off the grid. There are some fucked up minds out there that don’t want to let me experience true happiness. But in all honesty,” he finally stops his long-winded rant. He bites his bottom lip as if he is holding back someone worse than all the things he just said.
“I’m willing to die tomorrow if it means my last day on earth was this fucking perfect.” Tears welled in his eyes, “I am so tired.”
“It’s okay to cry, I would be too,” she says softly, a frog in her throat as she nodded. Tears welling in her eyes as her face scrunched.
He blinked and a tear escaped, slipping down his cheek and being swiped off by her thumb in an instant. She kept her hand on his cheek softly, he leaned into it.
“I’ve been running for so long,” he whispers because then the words don’t really exist. They’re secrets only for her to hear and then they’re gone. “I was basically groomed for the FBI, I was their personal computer and they didn’t give a single shit about the wear and tear on me.”
He started to sob. She cradled his head against her chest in one swift motion, holding him close and rubbing his back. Shushing him softly as he cried into her shoulder.
“You know that Katy Perry song?” she changed the subject as he calmed down, understanding his pain and accepting his warnings, but continuing down the path anyway.
“Summer after high school when we first met,” she sang like an angel. “It was like that, I thought I met the love of my life after I graduated, we got engaged a year later, then he died in a car crash and I was single for a very long time.”
“Then my grandma got sick and she made a bucket list. Number one was to become a great grandma,” her words became whispers as she tried to stop the tears, following Spencer’s tactic even though it failed so miserably.
“I said fuck it. I’m going to have a baby and make my own family, one person I can truly care for and never lose. She’s my world, she was the light of my grandma’s life until it burnt out, she has changed my world in ways I can’t even explain.”
It fell silent as they absorbed each other’s explanations of their issues. The root of their problems, the core of their soul were the most hurt was kept locked away, opening the doors and swapping scrapbook snapshots of terrible memories.
“I think,” she says, finally, like music to his ears. “I think that I’m okay, I’m positive actually that I want you in my life like this. All of you is fine with me, you’re not that scary, and I’m tired of waiting for the right moments because it means losing the people over time missed. I want to live my life fully, I’m at peace with the unknown and with you.”
Peace.
“Not to quote Taylor Swift at you or anything, but she does have a point in that song,” she laughed lightly and he felt her chest jump. Life bursting through her as she made light of an incredibly touchy subject.
“I don’t know the song,” he whispers.
She gasps, “oh that’s the line, I finally found it. Our first fight can be whether or not you like Taylor Swift, don’t even think about how upset Amoreena will be if you’re not, I’ll kick you out.”
He can't stop laughing then, digging his face into her neck as he holds her closer to his chest. Breathing her in as she finishes his laugh in a giggle, rubbing her hands down his back as she presses her cheek to his head.
“I haven’t had the time to listen to her this year I know she’s been busy releasing music,” he admits, “but I’m sure I’ll love it.”
She shifts awkwardly on the couch to take her phone out of her pocket, opening her music and playing the song she was speaking of.
He simply rests his head on her chest, both of them laying back onto the cushions together, finding a comforting spot for their arms as they listened to the words, silently.
He absorbed it all, every word she said bringing forth a feeling he’s never felt before. True understanding, like someone, gets him. Gasping audibly when she says ‘robbers to the east clowns to the west, give you my sunshine, give you my best.’
He wasn’t alone.

Like I'm Drowning
Rowaelin Month, Day Twelve
Tumblr media
A/N: Sorry about this, blame @thewayshedreamed, she's the one who wanted more angst.
This will have a fourth part, for obvious reasons;)
part one, part two
Word count: 3,874
It was two days after Aelin had left their home. It was about eleven o'clock in the evening when the walls of what had once been his favourite place had shaken with the force of Lorcan's fists on the front door, shouting at Rowan to let him in.
He had not answered.
He couldn't have done so even if he'd wanted to because his legs had stopped working and the muscles in his neck had been reduced to jelly over the last forty-eight hours, sip after sip of whatever alcohol he'd found in the cabinet.
He lay on the floor, his face in a pool of his own vomit, too heedless to care, too sore to move. In any case, he had stopped smelling the stench hours ago.
Another ten minutes had passed, in which his best friend had threatened over and over again to call the police if he didn't open the fucking door, before Lorcan had slammed his shoulder into it.
He hadn't been able to move in time when the door unhinged from the wall fell partially on him, hitting him in the head with one of the now splintered edges. He grunted in pain and could smell the blood as it began to trickle down his forehead, onto his nose, and he was relieved - he wasn't dead. Rowan had not been sure of it until that moment.
The other was there an instant later, taking the door off him, leaning it against the wall.
And the sharp breath he took was a dagger straight to Rowan's heart.
He didn't want him to see him like this.
He had never heard Lorcan's voice like that. So shocked, so worried. Whatever emotions he was feeling at the moment were blocking him from approaching him. Almost as if he was afraid of scaring him. Of breaking him more than he already was.
Rowan shook his head what he could, he didn't want him to see him like this. He didn't deserve his help.
"God, Rowan, what have you done?"
The relief at finding out he was still alive lasted a moment though, as the pain in his chest hit him so hard it took his breath away and he pulled himself up onto all fours before yet another wave of gags shook his body. He opened his mouth, hoping that this time something would come out, but he choked on nothing. His eyes filled with tears and Rowan wondered how that was possible.
There should have been nothing in his body.
He’d been in this conditions since the day before.
He felt a hand settle on his back, rubbing up and down as Lorcan tried to figure out what was going on, and his brain betrayed him, showing him images of a life he had taken for granted all along, from the second she had been his.
Him on the bathroom floor a few months earlier.
A box of somewhat-too-spicy Chinese food on their coffee table.
And Aelin.
Her hands on his back.
He shook off Lorcan's hand, "Don't touch me."
The words burned his throat and another gag went up his esophagus.
He stayed in that position for a few minutes, his back rising and falling frantically with each breath where he seemed to be unable to get enough air in.
"Rowan."
He didn't look at him. He couldn't.
"Rowan, you hear me?"
Lorcan ducked down, crouching beside him, reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder, but he seemed to remember what he'd just asked him not to do as soon as he gave him a startled look. If he touched him again, he didn't know what his broken mind would show him. He was terrified of it.
With a grimace, Lorcan clenched both hands into fists and took a deep breath, closing his eyes as the sour smell of vomit and what Rowan was ashamed to admit was his own piss reached his nostrils. When he opened them again there was a distinct determination in his gaze and Rowan had to pull his eyes back to the floor.
He thought he had found a sort of calm in which he might even be able to answer Lorcan's questions, but he was wrong. He was so wrong.
"What happened?”
“I feel-” he tried to speak, failing, “I feel like I’m drowing.”
“Why? What happened?” he asked again. And then the final hit, “Where's Aelin?"
There was no stopping the first sob. His vision went totally blurry, blackening everything in front of him until all he could see was the image of her, and his chest constricted to the point where breathing was no longer even an option. He fell to the side, against the wall, and there was no stopping the desperate crying that washed over him.
***
It was three days after Aelin had left their home. It was eight o'clock in the evening when Elide and Lorcan had asked him if he would like to go back there after leaving the hospital. It was twenty past eight when they had reached his street and he was counting down the seconds till he got to smell her perfume in the air again.
He had entered the house and tried not to breathe through his nose, realising he was not ready to remember what her scent was. He noticed how everything had been cleaned, tidied up or fixed and he didn't have the mental or physical trength to turn around, hug his friends and thank them.
He looked towards the kitchen, on the table. The letter was no longer there.
"Where is it?" he asked in a hoarse voice.
He hadn't spoken in the last few hours. Not to the couple he knew was staring at him from the doorway.
He'd been forced to answer questions from the doctors, from his coaches asking him how much time he needed. Lorcan had warned him that he'd lied for him, that he'd told them someone dear to them both had suffered a serious injury and died.
Rowan had looked at him and said a simple thank you while he lay on his hospital bed, despite knowing how much a fuckup of that magnitude risked not only his career, but Lorcan's as well.
It was Elide who had the courage to answer him, "What?"
"The letter."
"Oh." she whispered, "I put it in your room."
He nodded. Running a hand over his face he turned to them, noting how they both looked ready to launch themselves forward if they thought Rowan was going to crumble once more time.
He saw Lorcan clench his jaw and then look away before saying, "You won't find any alcohol, I threw away what was left."
Elide smiled at him with watery eyes, trying to change the subject as fast as possible, "If you need anything, you can always come to our place. You know that. We have-"
He interrupted her abruptly. He didn't look at her as he said in a harsh tone, "Thank you for everything, you can go now."
She took a sharp breath, nodding dryly and turning, hurrying out of the house. Lorcan followed her with his gaze the whole time, telling her he would join her in the car in a moment.
When he met Rowan's gaze again, the voice was the one he'd used all the years in high school when he'd been his captain. It gave no room for argument.
"I don't know what you're going through. I don't even want to begin to think about how painful it is to lose someone so important."
She didn’t die, he wanted to say. She left me.
I gave up on her. I don’t deserve her.
The steel mask Rowan was wearing seemed to be already starting to crack. He needed Lorcan to leave before he couldn't control his emotions.
He had already done too much for him.
He didn't deserve any of what they were offering him. He didn’t deserve anything.
"I can hardly imagine what I would do if I were in your position. If Elide-" he paused, closing his eyes. "I'm sorry, for what's happening. It's not easy, I understand, but whatever you're doing right now, it's not the solution. Treating me and Elide like this isn't going to drive us away, and before you tell me you don't need anything, let me just say that finding you lying in a pool of your own vomit completely hammered, out of your mind was one of the most horrifying things I've ever had to see." he took a step forward, placing a hand on Rowan's shoulder.
He had the instinct to pull away, but the grip on his jacket tightened, pinning him in place.
"I'm not letting you go, okay? I'm not going to let you throw away your career like this," he told him, looking him straight in the eye. "I'm not going to lecture you about what happened the other day. I know I would have done a lot worse, but you have to promise me that it won't happen again."
Lorcan's voice faltered at last and Rowan was surprised to see his eyes glaze over.
He nodded, his mouth slightly open, shocked at his friend's reaction.
"Promise me."
He hurried to whisper, "I promise."
Lorcan nodded, pulling Rowan to him and hugging him. He closed his eyes as the man in front of him held him together without even realising.
When they pulled away, they pretended not to hear the way they were sniffing, or the tears on both men's cheeks. They said a simple goodbye and then Rowan was alone.
Again.
He climbed the stairs slowly, walking like a dead man down the corridor filled with memories of him carrying Aelin in his arms on that very floor, and when he reached the door to their room, he hesitated.
He brushed against the knob, gripping it in his hand.
He stared at the wood in front of him and felt panic assail him.
Rowan turned on his heel, running for the stairs, the exit, hoping that Lorcan had not already left.
He threw open the door of the ghost-filled house and ran out, intent on never returning.
***
It was two weeks after Aelin left their home. Eleven days since he'd run away in a panic. Ten days since Lorcan had convinced Rowan to go back there, at least to pack up his things.
Nine days since Rowan had destroyed their room, screaming and sobbing as he tore the curtains from the windows and threw what little of her he had left against the wall.
Every ornament, every picture frame.
He'd screamed at Lorcan when he'd tried to stop it.
He hadn't succeeded. Rowan had razed their home to the ground, shattering every happy memory they had created over the years in those four walls.
Only when he'd found Aelin's ring had he stopped, bursting into tears so loud that the first sob had startled Lorcan, holding the small object to his chest.
They had gone back to Lorcan’s, and Elide had stood there looking at him with wide eyes, before running to get the first aid kit to clean the wounds Rowan had caused himself. More or less deep cuts, which his friends said should have been stitched up by actual doctors, but Rowan doubted they wouldn't lock him up in the psychiatric ward if he went to the emergency room for the sixth time in such a short time.
Especially if he came in with shards of glass between his fingers.
He hadn't kept his promise to Lorcan.
He'd drank again. He'd gotten into a couple of fights. He hadn't been back to the rink.
He hadn't skated in a fortnight. Longest period of his life off the ice.
But he couldn't do it.
He couldn't do anything. And it was all his fault.
***
It was three months and one day after Aelin had left their home. He had called Lysandra every day since Lorcan had forced him out of his and Elide's house, finding him a place right outside their team's arena. The woman had never given him any real answers, only reassuring him that Aelin was fine and that he should start moving on, too.
That too had broken something inside of him. The implications that Aelin had found someone else.
He couldn’t even bare being in the same room as another woman knowing they’d all be looking at him trying to get in his pants.
Aelin had always been the only one who wanted him for who he truly was, not his money. Not his status.
She had wished all those things gone so many times.
And she had left him.
He had let her go.
The team had sent a physiotherapist to his house every day for the first month, and then every week, accompanied by a shrink. Rowan had managed to drain them all. One after the other.
He was sure Lorcan had lost all hope too, but he continued undaunted to help him, going to his house every day after practice, without ever missing one day.
Rowan knew that Aelin had called him one night, almost a month before. Lorcan had told him, how she had begged him to tell her that he was alright, even though it wasn't true. His friend had also told him that she'd seemed to be drunk, and when she had hung up and both he and Elide had tried to call her back, Aelin had blocked their numbers.
From what he knew, she'd only unblocked Elide's, but she hadn't given him any kind of information about Aelin and he knew she'd never say anything.
He had hurt her - Elide. Rowan knew he'd treated her like little more than trash, both her and Lorcan, but however much he'd hurt her, it didn't seem to bother him in the slightest.
He should have felt something for his friends who had given him everything in the last period, but Rowan could not care less than what they had to go through for him.
Now he was waiting for Lorcan, sitting at the table, to show him he was alright. Putting on his daily show and reassuring his friend that everything was going great, he just wasn't ready to skate again yet. The other one would look at him, yell at him a few minutes before walking out of his miserably empty flat slamming the door.
Rowan was just waiting for the day when he wouldn't show up or when he would tell him he wasn't coming, saying goodbye one last time.
He knew it would happen, one way or another, and Rowan didn't know how to stop the mess that had become his life.
That day it wasn't Lorcan who entered his house, but someone else. Rowan opened the door and saw his agent, his team president, and his coaches, along with the athletic trainers.
They had given him an ultimatum.
Either you go back to slacking off after Christmas break or we break your contract, you're off the team and you lose lots of money.
The president had been particularly emphatic on the subject of money, but for Rowan that would be the least important thing.
It wasn't until the evening after New Year's Eve that he had made a decision.
Lysandra, whom he hadn't seen in person in more than two months, had entered his house looking like someone who hadn't slept in years. She had forced him out of bed, shouting at him to wash up, to clean his house. She had made it so Rowan couldn't talk back, never letting him speak, pushing him left and right.
She had taken him outside, something he hadn't done in weeks, so much so that the sun had hurt his eyes for the first two hours. She had forced him to buy new clothes and all the missing furniture in his house.
She had stayed with him for three days.
Three extremely long days in which she had swore at him, insulted him in every possible way imaginable by the human mind. They'd nearly come to blows when she'd touched a sore spot and Rowan had threatened to call Aedion to haul her away.
She'd dragged him to the party Fenrys had thrown for the New Year and for the first time in months, Rowan had smiled.
Elide had started crying when she'd seen him, Lorcan on the verge of tears as well. They had both hugged him and Rowan had begged for their forgiveness.
That night, Rowan thought things would be different for him for the first time.
He'd been wrong.
Again.
***
It was four years and twenty-seven days after Aelin had left their home. Four years since he had received no news of her. Three years since he stopped asking.
Rowan had been zapping through channels for so many hours now that the glaring light of the TV didn't even bother him anymore. His eyes were slightly glazed over as he stared at the screen, not really looking at the images in front of him. He caught a glimpse of a sentence here and there, ignoring the constant tinkle coming from his phone that warned him that Lorcan still didn't give up on talking to him every day from the moment he woke up to the moment he went to sleep. Even when he was on holiday with his now wife.
They had won yet another cup. The third win in a row.
Sometimes Rowan could hardly believe it.
Three Stanley Cups.
On his dream team.
He should have been excited. No, not excited.
He should have been the happiest man on earth. He should have been out celebrating with his teammates, vacationing on a tropical beach like Lorcan was doing, surrounding himself with girls ready to offer him anything to spend even just one night with him.
But Rowan didn't want to.
Rowan felt nothing – he had not felt anything in the last few years of his life. How did he expect to start now? For a measly win.
He hated hockey. He hated the sport. Hated the fans, his teammates.
He hated his life.
He was about to turn off the TV, confident that he would be able to sleep tonight without the help of the meds the team kept giving him to keep him from collapsing during the games, when his finger froze on the remote.
He didn't know what he was watching, but it seemed to be a channel about gossip, and Rowan felt a pang of anger well up in his chest. It seemed to be the only emotion he still felt from time to time.
Shocked and pissed that someone had felt the need to devote an entire channel to minding other people's business, he stood up, ready to pass out in his cold bed, when the words of the man on the screen stopped him in his tracks.
"And now to the latest news, straight from the social of the Toronto Maple Leafs' rookie player, Chaol Westfall, who has announced his marriage to the stunningly beautiful girlfriend, Aelin Galathynius. She has never been very active on social media, in fact, for somebody with such a charm, she'd be perfect in the role of influencer, but-"
Rowan stopped hearing.
He felt his body's reaction in time, and rushing to the kitchen, he managed to get everything his body was rejecting in the sink. He heaved in there till the last bit of what he’d eaten a few hours ago.
His heart was racing and he had to grip the counter to keep from kneeling on the floor.
That couldn’t be true.
Aelin was getting married.
Aelin was getting married to an hockey player.
The anger blinded him as her words flashed before his eyes.
I can’t do this anymore.
I’m weak. I’m so tired.
This isn’t the life I wanted for us.
I wish I could be your “’till death do us apart”, but I can’t.
The sound that came out of him was not human as he ran to his room and snatched the ring from the drawer next to his bed, the letter that just went wherever he went and raced out of the flat that never felt his own anyway.
***
It was four years and thirty days after Aelin had left their home.
Rowan stood in front of the journalists. Everyone was gaping at him, his teammates on the sidelines were looking his way as if he’d grown three heads.
And he couldn’t blame them, but he had needed to do this a long time ago.
He’d talked to his agents, the team’s president, everyone he had needed to to make this happen and he hadn’t felt such freedom in so long.
The questions just kept on coming and coming and he couldn’t distinguish the words. But he didn’t care.
He only needed to make this statement in front of everyone.
“I’m aware that leaving this team right now is a foolish and completely insane idea, but this world has taken too much from me already. My contract with the Senators ended with this season and I know everyone was expecting me to say which team I’m heading off to, but I’m quitting.
“I should have done this a long time ago and I’m sure the person this is for won’t even see this interview, but I love someone who thought she wasn’t enough for me. She told me four years ago her love wasn’t enough. I’m leaving cause hockey has not been a source of happiness in a very long time and it ruined everything good I ever had.
“I thought I loved playing cause of the adrenaline. The pride in a win. The chills when you score. But no, it wasn't that.”
I loved seeing her smile whenever I scored for her. The way she used to put medications on my wounds and bruises whenever I got hit too hard. Or the way we used to get all cuddled up after a long flight, after weeks of not seeing each other. I loved how my jerseys fit her – the way my clothes fit her.
He turned to his teammates, the people he owned a lot but couldn’t bring himself to care enough of to stay with them, “Being on this team would only make it worse. I’m sorry guys, I hope you can understand. This isn’t what I want right now.”
And right before he could get off the stage that had been set up for him, someone screamed from the crown.
“What are you going to do now?”
He didn’t stop to reply, avoiding everyone’s gazes and keeping on walking until he reached the exit of the arena. The chill air hit him hard as he went out on the street and got on the car.
This was the last time he’d be able to use one of the team’s cars.
The driver looked at him in the mirror, “Where to?”
“The airport, please.”
The man nodded and started the engine and Rowan felt something he hadn’t felt in years.
Hope.
Now, I’m going to get her.

Bait & Switch
Spencer Reid x GN!BAU!Reader
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None, super fluffy
Word Count: 3.5k words
Plot: Reader reveals that they’re going to buy a Nintendo Switch so Spencer invites them to go together with him. In the process, some feelings reveal themselves.
Author’s Note: My first time writing about Spencer, and actually, my first time writing a fic in a long time haha. Just imagine that this takes place in 2017, although you don’t have to know anything about the Switch in order to read this.
Masterlist
--------------
"What's got you in such a good mood, baby?" Derek asked, leaning over his chair. Even without looking up, you could feel the smirk that decorated his face. After almost a month at the BAU, you didn’t need to be a profiler to expect this much from Derek. "Got a date this weekend?"
You tried to focus on your paperwork before relenting, rolling your eyes. Still, you couldn't hide the smile in your voice when you shot back a reply. "With this job? You wish, Morgan."
"Give yourself some credit, beautiful. With your looks I'm sure you could score a good looking fellow for a night you won't forget."
"I'm sure you would know all about that," you replied, this time grinning from ear to ear.
Ever since you joined the BAU, your seat has always been across Derek Morgan. The guy was a terrible flirt but also one of the most trustworthy people you knew, so you couldn't keep up a sarcastic mood for long.
"Actually," you replied genuinely, "I'll be lining up this weekend to buy a Nintendo Switch." Out of the corner of your eye, you could sense Spencer stiffen in his chair next to you.
"A what switch?" Derek asked, his face scrunching up in confusion.
But before you could begin to reply him, Spencer rolled his chair over and opened his mouth. The both of you knew what was coming.
"The Nintendo Switch. A video game console developed by Japanese company Nintendo that's completely one-of-its-kind, on account of its console functioning like a tablet that can either be docked on a home console and linked to a TV, or used as a portable device with two wireless controllers so you can..."
Not being able to help yourself, you giggled at his info dump. You've always admired how much knowledge he could store in his big brain. But more importantly, you thought he was kind of cute like this. A fire would light in his eyes and it seemed like the world around him ceased to exist.
You only realised you were staring at Spencer when the last bits of his question registered in your mind. "...you going to?"
Blinking your eyes, you snapped to attention. Derek seemed to notice, because you felt his signature smirk return to his face.
"Which store are you going to?" Spencer repeated the question. Anybody else might be annoyed, but he only seemed mildly restless. A rare look for the unathletic genius.
"I'm going to the one three blocks down from here," you replied.
"So am I!" Spencer sat upright in his chair, beaming. You think that this is the most excitement he's expressed to you since you joined the BAU.
Then his confidence seemed to waver. He began tugging at the edge of his sleeve, eyes glancing to the side at nothing in particular when he asked, "W-would you like t-to go together?"
A smile spreads across your face before you can stop it. "Sure! Sounds like fun."
Spencer grinned back, and there was a moment of silence before Derek interrupted the conversation that he began. "Well, I'll leave you and lover boy to plan your date. I'm going to spend my Friday night at the bar."
Your heart thumped involuntarily at the word "date", while Derek turned to Emily. "Hey Prentiss, you want to grab a few drinks and dinner? I'm sure I can get the others to leave work for one night."
"Anything's better than this," Emily shrugged, lifting her mug of already-cold coffee.
Standing up to retrieve her bag, she smirked at you and Spencer, having heard more of the conversation than she let on. "Have a great weekend, you lovebirds. Don't do anything I wouldn't do!"
She and Derek shared a laugh as they moved towards the Batcave to retrieve Garcia next.
As you watched them go, you feel Spencer's eyes on you and a flush warming your cheeks. You knew they were just teasing you with the word "date", but the truth is you've liked the genius almost as soon as you met him.
You may not have an eidetic memory, but you could still remember the flutter of butterflies that exploded in your chest when you first laid eyes on Dr. Spencer Reid.
He had waved from a comfortable distance, the other hand tucked in the pocket of his dark slacks. He towered over you easily with curly locks that barely touched his sweater vest, and you swore you've never seen anybody more attractive in your life. His intelligence only added to your attraction.
"Shall I pick you up at 7am tomorrow?"
You turned back to Spencer, who seemed even more nervous now that everybody in the bullpen had left. Yet what he was proposing was rather bold compared to his usual behaviour.
“Pick me up?” You repeated.
“It’ll be easier to find a parking spot that way, and the weather report predicts that tomorrow will be a sunny day, so I know you’d rather not walk three blocks to the store.” He rambled nervously.
“You know me well, Spencer.” A cheeky smile snuck onto your face, and in a moment of false bravado, you said what was on your mind. “7am. It’s a date, then.”
Spencer’s face turned beet red.
You didn’t wait to dwell on his reaction, dumping the last of your paperwork into a pile and picking up your bag. But as you walked to the elevator, you couldn’t help yourself from grinning ear to ear. It was a date. Kind of.
--------------
You couldn’t sleep. You had gotten home earlier than usual, but the extra time to plan for your “date” tomorrow proved to be a bad idea.
What would you wear? What would you talk about? Should you extend it to a meal, or dessert, or maybe coffee?
Although you were confident in the moment, you were beginning to regret teasing Spencer before you left. You’d known him long enough to know how he reacted to embarrassment, and there’s a good chance he might back away because of your forwardness.
You groaned, trying to get these thoughts out of your head. The reality of the "date" was sinking in now. This would be the first time that you and Spencer would be alone in a non-work setting. To say that you were nervous was a gross understatement.
But there was something worse than showing up nervous, which was showing up nervous and sleep-deprived, so you turned off your bedside lamp and tried to will yourself to sleep. That's when your phone began to buzz.
You were so on edge that the sound almost made you fall off your bed. Turning over your phone, your heart leapt to your throat.
Spencer, 2:03am: Sorry to disturb you when it's so late, but I realised I don’t have your address. Could you send it to me when you're awake?
You gulped. Just relax, just relax, you repeated in your head.
Me, 2:05am: It’s alright, you didn’t wake me up. I’ll attach my address below.
Spencer, 2:06am: Thanks. Having trouble sleeping?
Me, 2:07am: A little
Spencer, 2:08am: Me too.
What was I supposed to reply to that? You silently screamed. But it turned out you didn't have to figure it out.
Spencer, 2:11am: To be honest, I'm a little nervous about tomorrow.
Me, 2:13am: Why?
Spencer, 2:15am: I suppose it’s because we've never spent any time alone before.
Hearing the genius act so shy made you feel a little more brave.
Me, 2:16am: Well, I'm looking forward to the chance
Spencer, 2:17am: I am too.
Despite your nerves, you smiled at his small confession.
Spencer, 2:19am: We should get some sleep.
Me, 2:19am: I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night, Spence
Spencer, 2:20am: Sweet dreams.
Your anxieties were washed away and replaced with the biggest smile on your face. Without knowing it, Spencer’s words rippled a sense of calm over you, and you fell asleep shortly after.
The next morning, you woke up with a newfound clarity. You knew what you were going to wear.
--------------
Spencer couldn't stop tapping the edge of his steering wheel. He knew he was nervous, and admitting it to you last night didn't do much to stop that fact from eating away at him.
He texted you 3 minutes ago that he was waiting outside your apartment, but you hadn't replied. Although he knew that there were plenty of logical reasons why you might have missed his text, his hands didn't stop itching to call you and see if you were alright.
Then out of the corner of his eye, you emerged from the corridor and he felt his heart speed up.
You were wearing a blue flannel that he'd never seen you in before with a pair of dark jeans. Your hair, which you usually kept in a up-do at work, was let down in waves, touching your shoulders. And then there was the pièce de résistance, you were wearing a Doctor Who t-shirt with the TARDIS on it.
Hook, line, and sinker.
He didn't break his gaze on you the entire time you got into his car. Even when you beamed at him and wished him a good morning, a small yawn escaping your perfect lips, he was completely tongue-tied.
"Earth to Spencer," you called out, looking up at him curiously. "You there?"
Spencer shook his head suddenly, cursing himself internally for being such a doofus. "Sorry, uh, I was distracted. Good morning." He smiled sheepishly, tucking a stray hair strand behind his ear.
"Anyway," he cleared his throat. "I was thinking we could grab some coffee before we headed to the store? We can make it quick. I know there'll be some people already lining up."
He peeked at you rubbing your eyes and thought it was the cutest thing he's ever seen. “Looks like you might need it," he said without realising he'd just flirted with you.
You giggled, lowering your hands from your face. "Sounds great."
--------------
Spencer wasn't lying when he said it'd be quick, although in truth you could have taken all the time in the world and you would still be happy. The initial awkwardness between you washed away almost immediately as you fell into a quiet conversation about your favourite Doctor Who episodes.
You wanted to commit the sight of him driving in the morning to memory. The sun had just rose, lighting a gentle halo around Spencer’s messy hair and sculptured face. He was wearing a bigger sweater than usual, the sleeves hanging around his wrists loosely. While his eyes were focused on the road, his lips parted slightly as he softly bantered with you about David Tennant.
You felt an overwhelming urge to reach out and kiss him despite the driving hazard. And despite the fact that you’ve never kissed him, of course. But you could hope. And hope you did.
Your hope had grown when he parked in front of the coffee house you’d once mentioned was your favourite. Spencer made your coffee order perfectly and you had found yourself hoping that it was because he’d paid extra attention to you, and not because of his brilliant memory.
And when you reached the video game store and he opened the door for you, you hoped it was because he wanted to make a good impression, not only because he was a gentleman.
And when he stood between you and a video game rack in line, you hoped that he was trying to shield you from the other people in the store, and you hoped that he was thinking of pressing you against the rack and kissing the daylights out of you.
You needed to get a hold of yourself.
The conversation had swapped to the reason why you two were here in the first place, and you found yourself talking to Spencer about Breath of the Wild, a game that brought you back to fond memories of your childhood.
“The Legend of Zelda was the first video game I ever played, on the first console I ever owned.” You shared, smiling fondly. “It was the video game that my brother and I bonded over, and we bought every game together since.”
Spencer nodded in rapt. You felt him leaning closer to you, although it may have been your imagination.
“This is actually the first time I haven’t been with him for a new game,” you realised. “Due to our jobs, we haven’t seen each other in awhile, but we still text each other!” You tried to end on a lighter note, not wanting to bring the mood down on this “date”.
Spencer looked at you as if he wanted to say something, but he kept his lips shut.
“What about you? What was your first video game?” You threw the question to him, trying to divert attention away from your sad-enough story.
He blushed in response to your question and looked down at his black converse. You noticed he began touching his sleeve in a familiar motion and you looked at him suspiciously. “Spencer?”
“W-well, the t-truth is, I didn’t actually c-come here to buy a Switch, and I don’t play video games at all.“ The last part of his sentence came out rapidly. You might have missed it, if you weren’t already used to the tongue twisters he spit out on a daily basis.
“What?” You exclaimed a little too loudly, causing the other shoppers in line to glance at you weirdly. “Then... Then what are you doing here?” You said quieter this time. Your eyebrows furrowed as your mind scanned the possibilities.
“W-well, I, uh, wanted to spend time with you,” he blurted out. He raised his eyes to meet yours, his face completely red.
It was your turn to be flustered now. Your voice was quiet and you could feel your hands shaking. “Is this a date, Spencer?”
“Only if you want it to be, I mean, I want it to be but your opinion matters to me, and I wouldn’t want to bring you on a date if you didn’t want to. We can just hang out like friends if that’s more comfortable--”
You grabbed his free hand, gently lowering it from where it was moving as he rambled, until your fingers were intertwined.
“I would like it to be,” a large smile took over your face. You were a little teary despite how weird it was to confess your feelings for him in a video game store of all places.
Spencer was quiet for a moment, squeezing your hand in return. “Would you like to go for lunch after this? As a date,” he clarified this time.
"I would love that,” you beamed at him, “as a date.”
--------------
Spencer had always imagined the kind of girl he would fall in love with. Caring, intelligent, had an appreciation for classic literature, maybe. But when he saw you for the first time, every expectation he held flew out of the window.
You were beautiful. Wavy dark hair tied into a high ponytail, wearing a navy shirt, and funnily enough, a beige cardigan and black converse. Morgan joked that it was like meeting Spencer 2.0, but he disagreed: the two of you were worlds apart.
You were incredibly tech savvy, although not as much as Garcia, but certainly more than the rest. You loved the smell and taste of coffee without sugar. You were happy to hug everybody you met, from colleagues to victims. You didn’t like paperback so you read everything on a Kindle.
But the biggest difference between the two of you, was that you were emotionally intelligent.
All of your brilliance, combined with your PhD in psychology - having worked as a psychiatrist affiliated with Sex Crimes before joining the BAU - you were able to pick out the team’s moods from a single glance. It’s what endeared everyone to you immediately, and what made you such a great profiler.
But the way you treated him was different. You just, listened to him. While everyone else had gotten into the habit of cutting him off or simply ignoring him when he opened his mouth, your eyes would light up instead.
He could always tell you were listening because you would look into his eyes when he spoke, and you would ask him questions after he was done.
It made him feel like the world around him ceased to exist, except for you.
So he started studying your interests to grab your attention, trying to throw in a few jokes hoping to see you smile. It only took one month for him to seize his chance. Still, never in his calculations did he think you would say yes.
He smiled at the thought, stroking your hair gently as you cuddled on the couch together, watching you play Breath of the Wild.
After a more than successful first date, you had asked him to come over the next day to spend more time together. A month ago, he would have politely declined with an excuse like needing to read a new academic journal, but when he arrived at your doorstep he allowed himself to be drawn into your arms, relishing the giggle he earned as a reward for being hugged.
“Damn it,” you grumbled quietly as you ran out of stamina scaling a cliffside for the fifth time.
Spencer laughed. Without a second thought, he pulled you closer and kissed the top of your head.
In the background Link fell off the cliff once again, the game playing a sound that he came to recognise as Link dying. But there were no curses this time, as you had turned to look at Spencer, nothing but adoration in your eyes.
“That was our first kiss,” you said so quietly and sweetly that Spencer’s heart melted at the sound of it.
“First?” He took his chance, leaning closer. “You know, the usage of the word ‘first’ almost always implies that there will be a ‘second’ and a ‘third’ and a...”
His voice trailed off as your fingers left the controller to touch his lips. Your touch was intoxicating and he wanted more.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Spence,” you started, lifting your finger from his lips. “I didn’t mean to interrupt you-”
“Don’t be sorry,” he managed to get out in a hurry before capturing your lips in his. He felt your astonishment at first, but you quickly lost yourself in the kiss as he brought his hands up to cup the sides of your face, deepening the kiss further.
You finally broke apart after awhile, both panting for air and smiling widely. Spencer never thought he could be so lucky. “That’s the second one,” he said quietly, bringing up two fingers to indicate the number.
You looked at him with love in your eyes and abandoned your controller on the table before throwing yourself at him, flattening the two of you against your couch.
“Ready for the third?”
--------------
Derek Morgan wasn’t an idiot. That’s why he could tell that something had changed over the weekend between his desk mate and boy genius.
The two came into work together on Monday morning, which was weird in itself, but they also took every opportunity to stick to each other, from coffee breaks to disappearing for lunch and “asking” about paperwork.
When they vanished for the umpteenth time that day for coffee, Derek leaned over Emily’s desk to confirm his theory.
“It’s not just me. Pretty boy finally made a move, didn’t he?” He cocked an eyebrow.
“Definitely. Those two are so obvious that even Hotch has picked up on it. From his office.” She quipped, grinning as her eyes moved to the scene behind Derek. “Speak of the devil.”
Entering the conversation, Spencer did what he did best. “Did you know that ‘speak of the devil’ is the short form of the idiom ‘speak of the devil and he doth appear’? The phrase can be traced back to the 16th century when mentioning the devil was considered prohibited. In fact, when people were caught saying the phrase--”
Derek caught your eyes drifting to look adoringly at Spencer. He couldn’t take this anymore. “So what happened between you two last weekend, huh?” he interrupted, smirking.
Your reaction was better than he gambled. You turned a bright red and your eyes darted between Spencer and Derek in panic, truly flustered for the first time since he’s met you. But Spencer was strangely calm, his eyes travelling from his best friend to Emily in the background trying to stifle her laughter, while a small smile tugged at his lips.
“We’re dating now,” he announced to the two a little triumphantly, while rubbing your shoulder as a peaceful gesture.
Derek and Emily were stunned by their friend’s directness, only to be shocked out of it as Hotch walked by. “Finally,” he muttered, loud enough for them all to hear.
You were the first to crack a smile, then the rest followed suit with laughs and congratulations. Hearing the uproar, Garcia and JJ peeked out of their rooms, joining in and demanding more details about this new but not entirely unexpected development.
Amidst the chaos, Spencer laces his hands in yours and gives it a squeeze. For the first time in a long time, you feel unequivocally, unmistakably happy.

Body/Prision
so, here we go to the second part of the fic. ours has been exciting to write this. I hope you like it <3 (originally written in Brazilian Portuguese. sorry for any error).
Third part here
Pairing: Echo x f!Reader
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: Mentions of trauma, anxiety, panic, a little violence but nothing much and ~some physical mentions~ (and echo being a baby who needs care)
Heading towards the lab, you went through documents and reports on your datapad connected to the data network, finding the files of your newly known atypical clones, seeing that there were still three to meet in person.
One of them, with a rather traumatic past in your opinion. Another look like someone who is difficult to deal with. And lastly, one similar to your fellow nerds from college. Already imagining your scientific conversations.
You find your sweet auxiliary Omega standing at the door of the lab. She is also a clone, young and adorable. With short hair, the same color as the sun (if you remember the last time you saw one).
But with Jango Fett's pure DNA in her cells. Only you and Nala know this. Your conscience always brings you that painful twinge whenever the memory occurs to you.
"Y/N! I was looking for you!"
The girl came running towards you, with a scared face, taking your right hand and pulling you with her.
"Hey Omega, Stars, what's up?"
You almost shuffled your legs trying not to fall.
"I've been sent to help with clone ratings today! But Echo is very upset and I can't get him to calm down!"
Before you could ask for further explanation, you were already being dragged to the door of the room.
Stopping at the door, Omega pushed you inside when you spotted the trembling clone sitting with his back to the door, on top of the gurney, aiming his blaster at the three doctors ahead.
"Echo! I found her!"
The girl's voice was a mixture of relief and determination. The other three doctors in the room are clearly pissed off, hands up in front of the clone.
"Y/N isn't even a doctor, Omega!"
He yelled one of them, straightening and clasping his hands at his sides.
"You should have brought security!" yelled the other.
"She'll do it! She is better than you all!"
Screamed the little girl, pointing a finger at the three. You put a hand on her shoulder, signaling her to calm down. Gently you addressed the clone, froze as he stared into your eyes.
It was him… that clone whose record you were horrified to read. He was pale. With metallic accesses on his shaved head, a cybernetic prosthesis that covered his ears, his right forearm also cybernetic and thinner than most strong clones you know. Only the legs, also robotic, were covered by his blacks. His eyes were frightened and his limbs locked together at his sides, his good hand, shaking, still holding the blaster.
"A-Are you Doctor Y/N?"
His voice was deep, shaky and fraught with anxiety.
You, already with your heart sinking at his state, approached slowly, removing your white jumpsuit and leaving it on a small metal table nearby, catching the clone's attention with your tight black outfit.
"Yes… Echo, right? I assume you have a panic attack due to your accident… you shouldn't be brought into environments like this."
Your voice was calm and sweet. Looking at doctors with dislike in your last words. Echo looked away, clearly uncomfortable. The hand that was armed, wavering, and your hand slowly landing on top of the blaster, lowering it slowly, the clone giving way.
Suddenly one of the already impatient doctors approached abruptly and grabbed your shoulder from behind you.
"Let's go! We don't have time for theaters! Sedation didn't work this time, but nothing a dose would not do well on rebel clones!"
Spotting the syringe the doctor was pulling out of his lab coat, Omega jumped on his arm as she screamed. You turned, startled, seeing the fist that the doctor was already closing to hit the girl. In a rush of adrenaline, you punched him in the nose, he staggered backward, and Omega took the syringe from his hand. The other two came to help the doctor, who pushed them away claiming he was fine, looking at you with hate.
"You're in big trouble, girl! And you too, stuck-up scientist!"
His voice really was scary. But suddenly, Echo's voice came from behind you like thunder.
"Do something with them, and you'll have to come to terms with me and my squad."
His voice, full of hate and gravelly. His arm trembled as he aimed the blaster at the doctor, finger on the trigger.
"Not to mention the possible murder he was going to cause with so much sedative in a clone with a body not yet fully mapped to know the consequences."
Snorted Omega right beside you, all proud with the syringe in her hand.
"Uh, Nala Se will love to hear that."
You said, crossing your arms and looking at the doctor in defiance.
The attacking doctor flinched, growling as he left the room. The other two fearful:
"Please, it's our first week here. Don't hand us over to Nala Se. We just obey orders."
Begged one of the doctors, this one was much younger than the aggressor, probably doing residency with another colleague.
"Withdraw then. And let the rest of the team know the behavior of that bantha in the lab coat! He doesn't deserve to be your supervisor. He is the one who has to be supervised!"
Your voice was authoritative and even. All that remained was for the men to nod and leave the room.
Echo threw himself onto the gurney, breathing wildly and running a hand across his forehead. You stopped in front of the clone and slowly sat down beside him on the stretcher. Instructing him to take a few deep breaths, then slowly exhale for a few more, repeatedly. Echo tried to follow your directions, faltering a few times but picking up his pace eventually.
"There is! We make an amazing team! I told you, Echo!"
Omega's voice trying to bring relief to the tense environment. She continued.
"Y/N is the best! She will be nice to you!"
You, realizing the responsibility that Omega gave you, nodded with the girl's words.
"Well… I'm not exactly a doctor, as we've heard… but I know enough. You can trust me, Echo."
The clone looked at you with less awe, bearing in mind what you did.
"I- I feared that I would go through the physical evaluations again. I know they are mandatory, but... they remind me of the Citadel..."
His gaze roamed the metalized room, filled with stretchers, huge equipment, and light panels.
The doctors just didn't care and sedated him whenever it became impossible to assess him. Putting gadgets into his body, pushing him into big gadgets and treating his cybernetics like pieces of scrap metal.
"I don't want to be a problem again... I know I have obligations as a soldier, but I can't be okay here!"
He squeezed the biceps of his other arm with his hand, trying to stay in control as he felt a new wave of anxiety.
You gently placed your hand on his back, feeling him recoil involuntarily.
"Unfortunately it's standard procedure… but if you promise me secrecy, we can only do the basic assessment, and it could be in your room, a theoretically cozy place for you. I can do that from now on if you want."
Echo sighed, relieved at the option before looking at you again. His expression is lighter. Omega already excited to see her clone brother a little more relaxed. You smiled and calmly guided him to the dorm.
All the way the three of you were shot with stares and comments. You scolding each one with your furious glare, Omega stuck out his tongue at the attackers, while Echo lowered his head every time. His tall stature, allowing you to see his depressed expression from below.
Omega opened the door as you arrived soon after, still next to Echo. Omega pointed to the bunk and you asked permission to sit, Echo, growing more and more stunned by your sweet attitude toward him, nodded.
Placing the small silver suitcase you brought along on the floor, you took Echo by the hand, inviting him to sit beside you.
You asked permission with each movement and touch the soldier's body, trying to be gentle, as if his body were the most sensitive of porcelain. You were curious about his cybernetics, but you chose not to bring it up.
Omega was sitting by your suitcase, legs crossed on the floor, handing out all the little devices you needed to gauge the clone's basic physical parameters, but never looking away from him.
You explained what you were doing and why, warned of any movement or approach of the small devices and their purpose. Echo just nodded, getting a lot more confident in you.
You can't help but notice the tight, visible muscles. The heat radiating from the clone's body. The sharp, attractive shape of his body in that tight black outfit. Feeling the slight reactions whenever your fingertips touched him. The shy look he gave you.
Omega looked uncomfortable, pacing back and forth when you were wearing the last device on Echo's body, checking his heart function.
"Omega, what is it?"
Echo said low but firm, surprising you by the contrast to the voice that trembled earlier.
"I lied to Nala Se, saying that I went to get more supplies with Y/N, that it would take her time to get to the lab, so I could take her to you. If the confusion gets to her ears, she'll find out."
Omega ran her hand constantly over the back of her neck and through hair, the little eyes fearful.
You widened your eyes at the girl, remembering that you was requested earlier and for her boldness with the doctor (as if you didn't know her). Already trying to devise a plan to cover up the improvised procedure with Echo.
"Hm... I can talk to some clone friends to claim that we left Kamino for a few hours… I don't want Nala Se mad at us. And about the fight, well, we just defended ourselves."
You said with a smug smile on your full lips, forgetting your hand resting on Echo's covered chest, your hand already warming the spot. He watched your hand standing there, your skin seemingly smooth, the fingers small and delicate, rising and falling with his breath and causing a strange sensation deep in his racing heart.
The way you welcomed him and tried to keep him safe. You defended him. Just like your brothers before it all happened. He hadn't experienced this in a long time. But like a knife, he slashed his thoughts and threw them aside. He no longer allowed himself to wander through such things, after all, what kind of relationship could he have, being like that.
He came back to consciousness with your movement, withdrawing you hand and standing up, Omega already picking up the small suitcase from the floor.
"A-Are we done yet?"
A slight disappointment was clear in the clone's voice. You crouched down between his spread thighs, looking him in the eye, giving the clone's eyes access to your light cleavage and your silvery cord that went between your breasts.
"We've finished the basics, Echo. You are strong and healthy. I'll be back to do the rest tomorrow, after my shift, if you're comfortable."
Your eyes were like adorable little twinkling stars. So comforting and sincere, just like you, all the time with him. He nodded, a slight smile breaking his pale lips, bringing a slight, sweet swell to his heart.
You stood up, carefully taking the clone's hand, pulling a pen out of your pinned hair, and jotting down your personal communicator code in the palm of his hand.
"Let me know anything, Echo. Drink water and do the breathing exercises before going to bed."
Smiling, you turned around, heading for the door, being caught up by Omega just after she gave your brother a hug. The door closed as you remembered to scold the brave little girl for her attitude earlier.
Echo was left alone. Only with the sound of his heart pounding in his ears in the dim light in the room. The raindrops hitting the glass.
He put his hand where yours was moments ago, reading your code by pulling his palm away from his chest. He was calm. Something impossible after days of evaluations.
But beyond that, he felt real, alive, and eager to see you the next day, as much as his guts and gears wanted to say otherwise.

Crowley x Reader • You look like you've gone through hell•
Trigger Warning: mentions abuse and violence
This is an older fanfic I wrote some years ago but I still like the plot, please forgive me my shitty writing from back than 😂
Tumblr media
A door slammed loudly and woke you up, angry footsteps followed and something was thrown to the ground, shattering on the wooden floor.
You flinched and looked at your alarm clock on your nightstand with sleepy eyes: 2 o'clock in the morning...
The door to the bedroom was slammed open and you already knew what was going to happen.
Scared you hid under your blanket, acting as if you would sleep.
But your boyfriend didn't care about it. He grabbed you by your shoulder and pushed you out of the bed: "Make me something to eat!", he ordered as you whined because you had hit the nightstand with your shoulder.
Without a word you stood up and went downstairs in the kitchen, making a Peanut-butter-jelly sandwich and placing it on the table.
You heard your boyfriend stomping down the stairs and mentally prepared for whatever he might get angry with you again.
"Are you fucking kidding me?!", he yelled, pointing at the sandwich and threw the plate to the ground. "A sandwich?! I'm hungry and you dare to make me a sandwich?!"
With every word he walked nearer to you and was now standing right before you. You could smell the alcohol he had been drinking like every night and didn't dare to look him in the eyes. Angry he pushed you and you fell backward, hitting the oven behind you once again.
"Go and get me a pizza."
With tears in your eyes, you rushed into the bathroom. Your reflection in the mirror showed a pale girl with deep eye rings, bruises all over your body and a skeleton like build.
Tears swell up again as you saw yourself in such a bad state.
As tears rolled down your cheeks you asked yourself how it had come to this. When it had started that he hit you. When the good times had stopped. You sobbed and buried your face in your hands.
"(Y/N)!", you could hear him yelling out of the living room. "Go, now!"
Sniffing you pulled yourself together, wiping the tears away, put some makeup on and tied your hair into a messy bun before you walked out of the bathroom again.
Your boyfriend was sitting on the couch, watching some sort of porn and had another bottle of beer in his hand.
You opened the front door and the cool air hit you, immediately crawling under your t-shirt and sweatpants.
Shivering you walked through the empty streets, passing closed stores and full bars.
In front of one bar, you suddenly felt the urge to stop. You knew it wasn't a good idea to go drinking now since your boyfriend would beat the crap out of you when you come back in the morning but you didn't care right now. Determined you opened the door and walked straight to the counter, you sat down on one of the stools and studied the small menu, not sure what you wanted to order to drink yourself away.
"Two Whiskeys, please.", a deep voice next to you ordered and the next second you had one in front of you. Wondering you turned around to get a look at the man next to you.
He looked handsome with his black suit and his bristly beard, on his lips played a charming smile and he looked at you with mysterious eyes.
"Hello, darling", he greeted you and sipped at his Whiskey.
Suddenly you recognized the man. It had been years since you met him and you had nearly forgotten him but now he was sitting in front of you: Crowley, the King of the Crossroads.
"May I ask your name?", he asked politely, it seemed like he didn't recognize you yet, no wonder because of the way you looked now.
" It's (Y/N).", you smiled weakly.
This name rang a bell in his head, he narrowed his eyes and stared at you for a second before he finally recognized you: "(Y/N)?? My god, what happened to you?"
"Ironically for the king of the crossroad to talk about god", you chuckled, trying to change the subject.
" It's King of hell now.", he corrected you with a haughty look and crooked smile.
"Oh,", you answered in surprise. "So you moved up the ladder, huh?", you swayed the Whiskey in your glass, watching the liquid swirl.
"Now tell me what had happened to you. You look like you've gone through hell, and I must know it."
Sighting you took a long drink from your Whiskey before you cleared your throat: "My boyfriend became a pisshead and found fun in beating me up."
That was all you had to say about it, it explained everything and you rather stayed short about your problems since you didn't want any pity.
You gulped the rest of the whiskey down and felt the familiar burning in your throat. Crowley passed you his glass and you took it thankfully.
His face got serious: "Why haven't you left him?"
"I couldn't.", you replied between sips. " He is the only one left in my life. I would have nowhere to go and if I go who knows what he might do to me."
He looked at you as if someone had hurt his puppy: "Do you still love him?"
You needed to think for a moment, it wasn't easy to answer this question. You still loved the man he had been, when you looked at old pictures you felt butterflies in your stomach but then you looked at him now and it felt like somebody was stabbing those butterflies, leaving nothing but an empty feeling and sadness.
"No..", you answered Crowley's question with a shaking voice and attempted to gulp the rest of the Whiskey down again but Crowley stopped you, taking the glass out of your hand and putting it back on the counter: " Don't waste the good stuff, darling."
You sighed again, running your fingers over your face and through your hair.
"You know, I could help you.", he stated and you huffed amused: " I'm still not gonna make a deal, Crowley."
"How sad...But I already doubt it.", he said and stood up.
A feeling of disappointment grew inside you as you heard him walk away.
Maybe you should have made a deal. Crowley's hell couldn't be worse than your hell on earth.
You flinched as suddenly someone placed his hand on your hip and a hot breath brushed your right ear: " I'm still going to help you, love.", Crowley behind you whispered.
Your body tingled at his touch and his low voice like it hasn't done in years.
It felt so much better than the burning of whiskey in your throat.
"And how do you wanna do that?", you finally asked as the wave of desire had finally stopped rushing over you.
"Let's say...", he lightly kissed your neck. "He fell down the stairs and broke his spine..."
Crowley knew exactly damn well which buttons he needed to push to get the reaction out of you he wanted.
You bit your lip and inhaled sharply.
"Why would you do that for me? What are you hoping to get in return?"
He chuckled: "Oh, I already did it."
And with that, his hand left your hip and he was gone, leaving you uncertain about if he had said the truth.
Back at home, you found your boyfriend lying on the floor, unconscious but still breathing.
You called an ambulance and they first wanted to take you with them to take a look at your bruises and wounds but you were able to shrug them off.
Now you were sitting on the couch, staring into the black tv screen and didn't know what to do.
Meanwhile, Crowley visited your boyfriend in the hospital, he appeared in his room with a cocky grin on the face and his hands in the pockets of his black suit.
"Hello, Zac." [Let's just call him Zac], Crowley greeted and Zac jumped in surprise, letting out a quiet scream.
"What the hell?!", he yelled and threw a glass after Crowley, but he easily eschewed it.
" That's where I come from, I'm impressed you noticed it so fast.", Crowley chuckled and Zac looked at him with terror as Crowley's eyes switched to red and back.
"I heard you will never be able to walk again. Must be worse for a football player."
Zac stared at him with furious eyes, not really getting where this was going.
Crowley calmly walked towards the bed, Zac was sitting on.
"I could give you your legs back. You would be able to walk again and play football", Crowley's smirk grew as he saw how Zac was thinking about it. "What do you think?"
"What do you want in return?"
"Your soul."
Zac eyes narrowed in disbelief: "H-how?"
"Oh, you don't have to do anything for it. I'm just gonna claim it someday.", Crowley licked his lips, already knowing that Zac was about to say yes.
"Okay, deal.", he finally said and Crowley grinned once again. "I still can't feel my legs. Isn't the deal sealed yet?"
"It's sealed with a kiss."
"No way!", Zac shouted and Crowley sighted: "Normally our girl demons do the boys but there was no one available today, sorry."
With a disgusted expression, Zac pressed his lips onto Crowley's and pulled away fast.
"It was a pleasure to make a deal with you.", Crowley said and disappeared again.
At home you still sat on the couch, staring blankly at the tv screen.
Suddenly you heard a rustle behind you and turned around, only to see Crowly standing in the kitchen.
He had lifted his right foot and looked at it grossed out: " I knew it wouldn't be neat and tidy here because I haven't announced that I would come over but I wouldn't have expected that.", he said and pointed at the pb&j sandwich which was now sticking under his shoe.
A giggle escaped your mouth and he smiled softly at you before he whipped the sandwich away.
"We don't have much time, darling. Zac will be here in at least one hour so we need to hurry.", he said and grabbed your coat from the closet next to the door.
" What, how? The doctors told me that he wouldn't be able to walk again.", you asked puzzled and stood up.
"I made a deal with him, he can walk again. Now get your favorite belongings so that we can go.", he explained to you and you looked at him in disbelief. " So you only 'helped' me to make a deal with him?", you asked angrily.
Crowley walked over to you and looked you deep in the eyes as he spoke: "No, the other way around, love. I made a deal with him to help you. He only got three days until I'll claim what is mine."
You bit your lip and quickly turned away, walking upstairs to pack a bag with your clothes.
'(Y/N), don't even think about it!', you thought to yourself. 'He's the King of Hell and only playing with you!'
A bit grumpy about yourself you threw your clothes in your bag, hurried in the bathroom to get all your stuff and then rushed down the stairs.
Crowley noticed the grumpy look on your face: "Everything okay, darling?"
"S-sure,", you stuttered. " We can go."
He narrowed his brows, questioning himself what might be up with you, then he showed you a piece of paper: "I wrote him a goodbye letter from you. Maybe this will stop him from searching for you."
Surprised you took and read it: "Dear Zac, I'm sorry but I can't live like this anymore. I wish you the best. Love, (Y/N)."
"Did I hit your tone?", he asked and you just nodded, placing the paper on the kitchen table.
Your eyes rested on an old picture from you and Zac. He had an arm around your shoulders and kissed you on the cheek.
It felt wrong for you to go now, to just leave him since you always hoped he would get better again. But deep inside you knew that you had lost him.
Crowley laid his hands on your shoulder and turned you around: "We need to go now. He doesn't deserve this look on your face.", he said caring and before you knew it he had teleported you with him.
A bit dizzy you looked around in the new room.
It smelled and looked like a hotel room, there was one small bed beside a window, a little nightstand next to it and another door on the opposite, you guessed that there would be a bathroom behind.
"This was the best I could get in this short time, I hope it's okay, my queen.", Crowley said as he scratched his head.
You walked over to the bed, acting like you overheard his nickname for you and placed your bag on it.
"It's fine, don't worry.", you answered and failed to hide a smile.
The way he cared for you was so sweet and made you feel butterflies in your stomach.
"Are you going to stay with me the next days?", you asked with a bit of hope in your voice.
" No, I have some business to do. I'm sorry, darling", he answered and you sighted in disappointment.
"But I'm going to leave two of my men here. They will watch after you and protect you from Zac."
He snapped his fingers and two men appeared in the room, next to the door.
Crowley walked over to you, bend forward and whispered in your ear: "Don't go outside alone and don't do something stupid. I know you. Be a good girl, for me, okay?"
Shivers ran down your body at his words and the way his breath hit your ear: "Okay..."
Your gaze rested on his lips as he returned to his upright position, suddenly feeling the burning desire to kiss him.
Little did you know that he felt the same way, but he turned around and grinned to himself.
"Watch after her and don't leave her alone.", he ordered his minions and they nodded.
Then he turned back to you: " I have to go now. Goodbye, darling.", he bowed slightly and disappeared.
Sighting you threw yourself on to the bed, exhausted and looked at the clock: 6 o'clock in the morning, no wonder that you were tired. As you tried to recall everything that had happened in the last hours, your eyes closed and you drifted off into a restless sleep.
A loud crash woke you up, someone groaned in pain and something fell to the ground.
It took you some seconds to realize that you weren't at home anymore and that this probably wasn't just a drunk Zac, but also a really angry one.
You jumped out of the bed, ready to defend yourself, sick of always letting him beat you up.
In the light of the lantern which shined through the window, you could see two bodies lying on the floor, they didn't move or made any sounds. Fear crawled under your skin as you realized that your bodyguards were dead.
You didn't know if Zac actually killed the demons or if they just left in fear.
"Hello, (Y/N).", he said and your muscles tensioned by his cold voice. "Why have you left me? Don't you love me anymore?"
With every step he made towards you, you took one back until you hit the wall behind you: "Leave... Leave me alone!", you stuttered, feeling your pulse rising as he stood so near to you. His hand grabbed you by your throat and pushed you against the wall, making it difficult for you to breath.
" You think you can just walk away from me? Just write a goodbye letter and be gone?", the pressure on your throat increased. "Oh, how wrong you were. I'm not gonna let you go, my princess."
Tears swell up in your eyes, hearing him using your old nickname.
Formerly, when he called you this you could hear his love for you in his voice, but now you could only here obsession.
"Please don't hurt me...", you whispered between short breaths and sobbing.
"I'm sorry, but you're the one who made this ugly.", he answered and the next second his first hit your stomach, knocking all the air out of your lungs before he pushed you to the ground.
Coughing you tried to get your breath back, the room around you was blurry and you couldn't straighten your upper body since your stomach hurt so much.
You heard him unbuckle his belt and flinched as he snapped the leather against each other.
He kneeled down in front of you and grabbed your face, squeezing your cheeks: "Are you going to come back with me now?"
You thought about every option, but everyone was even worse than the one before.
'Crowley!', you screamed his name in your head, hoping that he would somehow hear you.
Zac shouted something but you didn't hear it, you tried to shut everything out, cried Crowley's name over and over again in your head and became numb of the pain as Zac hit you with his belt.
Suddenly the hitting stopped and everything was silent, scared you dared to look up.
Zac stood there with his arm raised, the belt in his hand.
Crowley stood behind him, holding his arm in place.
It was like the time had frozen at this moment.
You didn't dare to speak.
Zac, who had turned his head towards Crowley didn't dare to speak.
And Crowley, whose eyes were red, didn't need to speak.
"I could kill you.", he broke the silence. "I just need to snap my fingers and you would be dead."
Scared and angry Zac freed himself from Crowley's grip, letting the belt fall to the ground.
"Please don't, Crowley...", you begged with a shaky voice and stood up.
Both of you looked at each other, he felt your pain and it took him all he had to hold himself back.
"You know him?!", Zac suddenly yelled and you flinched. " Did I fell down the stairs because of you?! You made a deal with him, didn't you?"
Crowley answered for you before you even knew what to say: "No, she didn't. She wasn't as bloody stupid as you to make a deal with me. But you are right in one point, I'm responsible for your fall. And I hope it had hurt."
All the anger and hatred Crowley had for Zac swang in his voice as he spoke the last sentence.
"By the way, I just decided to claim your soul today.", Crowley started in an ice-cold voice and smiled evilly after he saw the fear crawling into Zac as he heard a loud growl from behind him.
"I would recommend you to run. My little hellhound is fast."
Juliet growled again, dangerously and Zac ran off, as fast as he could, slamming the door after him which Juliet tore down seconds after as she jumped through it.
It was silent again. You stared at the door in shock. Not sure if you were happy or sad about what just happened. Suddenly all the pain rushed over you, mentally and physically and the tears, which you were holding back for so long streamed down your cheeks. Loud sobbing you collapsed to the ground.
Crowley caught you, embracing you as you both sat on the ground now.
"It's okay, I'm here, no one can hurt you now.", he whispered calming as he held you in his arms.
Crying you pressed yourself against his chest, sobbing and sniffing and realizing that it wasn't just because of the pain, but also because of relief.
It was over.
You wouldn't come home to an angry boyfriend anymore who yelled at you every day and hit you.
You wouldn't come home in fear anymore.
You could finally live again.
......................................................................
"Thank you...", you mumbled into his shirt as the tears stopped rolling down your face.
Crowley cupped your face between his hands as he lifted your chin to make you look at him.
Your cheeks were red and your eyes puffy, probably making you look like a fish but his eyes got softer and a small smile appeared on his lips.
Gently he placed a warm kiss on your forehead and then pulled you back into a tight embrace.
This time it was you who smiled. Sometimes actions do say more than words...❤
......................................................................
Sooo, this was it!
I hope you enjoyed this one-shot, and yes I know, it's pretty long🙈 (I really didn't mean to write so much!)
The ending is separated by the way because I first wanted to finish it with the sentence "You could finally live again", but I thought some fluff at the end wouldn't be bad ;)
It would mean much to me if you leave a vote and comment🙇
Sending you all my love, thank you for reading! ❤❤❤

Kinktober 14: Napoleon x GN!Reader (Nipple play)
Rating: Mature
Words: 1000
Warnings: Nipple play
You've seen pretty weird things while being the last master of humanity but never saw one of your servants get sick.
And of all ways one could get sick, the simulator was the less expected.
Napoleon and Beowulf convinced you and Mash to try a training session with bad weather conditions to see how good you adapted, so you chose a setting similar to the one in the Russian Lostbelt. Of course, you joked about Napoleon being the one who couldn't handle the cold, but didn't expect it to be true.
He was fine at the beginning, just a small sneeze from time to time but after the third wave of enemies he could barely stand. Beowulf carried him to his room and you waited for Asclepius to examine him.
"He's fine, think of it as if it was a cold."
"I thought servants couldn't catch colds"
"And we don't. Normally this happens when a servant can't properly get mana from his master, the symptoms can change but it's similar to a cold for a human. Since you're not the one directly giving him mana then there must be a malfunction on the Wandering Sea's system. I'll talk to Sion while you check on the French man. Let him rest and change the wet towel on his forehead from time to time to help him with the fever."
You entered the room after Asclepius left. Napoleon was trying, emphasis on trying, to fall asleep, but he must not have found a good position so he kept moving around.
"You know, it's better if you try to stay still instead of moving like crazy."
"Ah, maître. It's fine, I'm just trying to get comfortable."
"Just lay down on your back and stay still."
You tried to sound as strict as you could but it was difficult not to laugh because he was being really cute.
Napoleon managed not to move for about 30 seconds, then stood up, making the towel fall on his lap.
"Impossible! I don't need to rest; I'm already feeling better! I already told that doctor-"
"If he says you need to sleep to get better you stay quiet and do so, he's the doctor for a reason."
You picked up the towel, which was already warm. Asclepius changed it before he left, so it should still be cold. You touched his forehead to see how his fever was going.
"Oh my God, you're hot!"
"Well, a lot of people tell me that~."
You would have laughed on another situation, right now you would strangle the servant with your own hands for not taking things seriously, even if that meant to suffer Asclepius wrath.
You dampen the towel on a small tub of cold water that the doctor left near the bed. When the wet fabric touched Napoleon's skin you saw the relief on his face.
"Better, right?"
"... Yes."
You gently rubbed the towel on his forehead, cheeks and chin, then moved from the neck to his collarbone.
Next was his chest. As always he had his shirt open, so you didn't have to take it off. You didn't know if you should touch where his scars were, so you tried to be extra careful.
"You're really taking your time, aren't you?"
"I can't go faster; I have to be delicate."
"Really? Because it seems you’re doing it on purpose."
"Fever really made you dumber."
"You're really looking for an excuse to touch my chest, is okay, I understand I-" you interrupted him, using your free hand to squeeze his left pectoral.
"See? I don't need an excuse, if I wanted I would just do it." You squeezed once more, to prove your point, but then, the moan that left Napoleon's mouth startled you. Could it be that his body was more sensitive now?
You smiled playfully, maybe you could use this as a revenge for all the teasing.
You traced his scars with your fingers, watching his chest move up and down with each breath. You then changed your path, going down until your hand found his nipple.
Napoleon didn't say a thing, he just bit his lip and watched how your thumb brush the areola. He tried to stay quiet but in the end he broke when you pinched his nipple. You played with it enjoying the archer's reactions.
"So, what do you think now? Still complaining about me taking my time?"
"Please, keep going..." He answered breathlessly
"That's what I like to hear."
You thought his pants started to look tight, yet as much as you wanted to help him out it would be better to watch him come just by the stimulation on his nipples. You unbuttoned his shirt completely, now that you’d gone that far maybe you could use that as a chance to lick and bite his chest as much as you pleased.
“I’m going to try and be civilized and ask what the fuck do you think you’re doing with my patient, master. And you better have a good excuse if you don’t want me to go against the oath’s I made as a doctor because I assure you I don’t give a damn if you're my master or not.”
Well, you’ve seen Asclepius pissed a couple of times, but this time he looked really mad. If you had stopped and listened to the door maybe you wouldn’t be in this violent situation.
“I can explain... I…”
“It’s my fault, actually. Maître did nothing wrong, I just convinced them to, well, you know…”
“I’m going to count to 5, and if you’re not gone by then I won’t take responsibility of what I’m going to do with you.” he sentenced looking angrily at you. “And you, once the problem with the mana resources are done I don’t want to see your face ever again. Did I make myself clear?”
Asclepius didn’t have to raise his voice to be scary, you both nodded, terrified.
“Then do me a favor and go.”
