Sorry if this is a silly question but is it possible to participate in f/ovember even if you don't get asks? I want to take part but I'm feeling discouraged because I never get asks on here and I don't know how else I can participate. I'm not too sure how to post as my f/o on my blog and am afraid I'll be judged because no one engages with me if that makes sense?

Hello anon! I'm sorry it's taken me this long to get to this ask, I've just been short on time and wanted to give a thought-out answer. In reality, anon, there is no definitive answer to this. There's no guaranteed way to get you interaction, but that does not mean that you shouldn't try!! It also doesn't mean that there isn't anything you can do to increase your chances of getting asks! Here's all the advice I can think to give:

Posting: Make your promo post for your takeover, and be sure to use main tags that'll get seen, like the f/ovember, self shipping, and f/o takeover tags! Feel free to tag me in it (I'll try to get an ask to everyone before the month's over), but don't be afraid to tag others too, like your mutuals or other self shippers. Also, don't be afraid to make a few extra posts, or reblog some ask games!

Interaction: This will probably be the most helpful piece of advice I can give; do your best to send asks to other people doing takeovers as well! Sending asks out to as many people as possible will get yourself out there too, and it's very typical for folks to send asks back and forth during these events.

The Mental Battle: Sorry if this isn't the most helpful, but I still believe that it's absolutely true; when it comes to waiting for asks, you need to be patient more than anything. It might take a while, maybe even a day or so, for asks to come in. But not only do you need the patience, you need the confidence. You gotta believe that the asks will come! As long as you make yourself known, you have a good chance of getting some asks.

Like I said earlier, this isn't a guaranteed way to get more asks, but it should definitely be helpful. Kill the part of you that cringes, and if ur scared to do it, then just do it scared. 8. Have. A. Photoshoot. With. Your. Pet(s). Self explanatory. Bonus points if you dress up your pet specifically for it.

9. Text random people and tell them to wash their hands, damnit. 

10. Get up to watch the sunrise. It sounds horrible, but is worth it, trust me. If you really hate it, you can just go back to bed after, but give it a shot. 

11. Find one of your old best friends from your past! High school bestie, past work wife, Ex-Gym-Buddy? It doesn’t matter!! Reach out!! Maybe they’ve been looking out for you too!

13. Plan an in-home date night. Don’t have an S.O.? Doesn’t matter!!! Family, pet and solo date nights are also very much acceptable! Do something special instead of microwaving last month’s leftovers. Make your own pasta! Crack open some wine and dance alone! Have a game night! 

14. Do some origami! Make something cute that you can be proud of! 

15. .. okay, this one sounds weird but could be worth it. Go on facebook and message someone with your own name. Idk, you could make a friend. If you don’t, it’s still fine, you have the next few months to cry from embarrassment alone without leaving your house.

Honesty hour things

Requesting things to draw is very hard for me because I know how hard it is for other artists--especially if it's a personal HC or OC or even a ship--when they're uncomfortable with an idea or a person they don't particularly know very well requesting it.

Artists drawing others' MCs is harder than this fandom thinks.

When artists say "mutuals only", it's not because they dislike non-mutuals' ideas or HCs--you're free to do things; your headcanons aren't copyrighted to us. It's only because we've gotten comfortable talking with a friend (about angst, crack, and other shit) that we're able to somewhat better grasp how they perceive their stories and personify their characters.

I don't jive with MC x character ships mostly because I myself don't ship my own MCs or OCs with canon or game characters. You do you tho.

I often wonder why most MCs are from incredibly uber-wealthy families with ginormous estates.

When I reblog other artists' art (with or without tags), it's because I 100% love their creations. It's not "fake nice-ness". Your envy is showing.
