It's like, within canon as it currently stands, if Tommy never expected it to last why was he with Buck for so long?
idk what this was as a response to, i obviously missed it but idt tommy was actively thinking he'd break it off with buck? he was probably expecting buck to be the one to get tired or "sober up" from the honeymoon phase and the excitement of the relationship to wear off. buck jumped so far ahead it was a shock to realize they were on very different pages.
#if this was about my post saying the way tommy was with buck was cruel i didnt mean this#i meant smth along the lines of tommy giving only parts of himself when buck was all out from the bat#and i didnt mean an intentional cruelty either#the tasty thing is when hurting your loved ones comes from a place of trying to protect oneself#mimi talks

Pretty Boy - Ch 1 (Evan Buckley x Reader) (Eventual Evan Buckley x Eddie Diaz x Reader)
Summary: You can feel Buck staring. When your eyes meet his, you realize he’s staring at your hand, which is still on Eddie’s knee. You slowly retreat, which makes Buck turn his attention to your face. You smile softly. He just looks out the window. The one where you're an advanced paramedic, Buck and Eddie are firefighters, and you think you might be in love with both of them. Originally posted to AO3
Chapter Summary: Your new(ish) co-worker has a special talent: getting on your nerves.
A/N: This is such a niche story and I am desperate for validation, please tell me if you enjoyed reading! Word Count: 3.5k Warnings: Swearing (if that even counts).
You’re ending the first half of your 24-hour shift the same way you always do—dinner with the team. Well, at least that’s how you try to end the first half of your shift. Of course, that’s also assuming that both the fire and medical teams are actually at the station and not on a call.
All things considered, this probably only happens once a week, if that.
When it works out, though, it’s a good time. You already spend a lot of time in the rig with Hen and Chim, being an advanced paramedic and all. When it comes to the firefighters, though, you aren’t as well-versed, so it’s nice to have a weekly ‘getting to know you’ session. It seems like these days, it’s a 50/50 shot if they’ll make it to next week's dinner.
The firefighting crew at the 118 is a revolving door of macho men. When you first started, it was Chim, Tommy, and Sal. Chim became a paramedic, so he didn’t exactly ‘leave.’ Sal got relieved of duty, so he didn’t really have a choice. Tommy left, but for something better. Maybe it isn’t so much the job that makes people leave; maybe being a firefighter at the 118 is a stepping stone for bigger and better things.
There is one firefighter that, if he left, you wouldn’t be heartbroken. In fact, it would probably make your shifts a whole lot better.
Evan Buckley, aka ‘Buck.’ God, even thinking his name makes you want to gag a little.
He’s a decent kid, but he’s just that: a kid. He’s a Probie; he’s only been on the job for about 4 months, and no one would assume otherwise. His heart is in the right place, but his brain hasn’t caught up yet. You’re starting to fear it never will.
“I know exactly what that polite, distant smile means: she’s bored,” Chim says as he leans over the counter, pulling you right out of your thoughts and back into reality. “This woman is so far out of my league, but she’s once-in-a-lifetime… I can’t let her go.”
“Lots of fish in the sea,” Bobby, your captain, chimes in. He leans over to pull something out of the oven.
“Not with the bait he’s using,” Hen remarks as she walks by. Her arms are full of dishes to set the table with.
“Amen, sister,” you agree, hot on her heels. She gives you a small smile and hands you the plates, which you accept with a smile of your own.
“Cruel, but true,” Chim sighs. “I met her on this new dating site, just for cops and firefighters, RomancingTheUniform.com. She’s an adrenaline junkie, so foreplay is me telling her stories about running into burning buildings and jumping into icy lakes and…”
“I’m sorry, wait,” Hen interrupts, “remind me: when was the last time you ran into or jumped over anything?”
“...I embellish a little.”
“Oh, noted.”
“So is she a cop or a firefighter?” You ask.
Chim gives you a look. “Why would she be?”
“Well, you said the website is for cops and firefighters,” you repeat. “Doesn’t that make her a cop or a firefighter?”
“Okay, it’s not just cops and firefighters,” Chim cedes, “it’s also for people that want to date cops and firefighters.”
“Ohhh,” you smile, “so cops, firefighters, and badge bunnies. What could possibly go wrong?”
“I’m telling you, the uniform is a major aphrodisiac,” Chim continues as he brings a salad to the table.
“Yeah, hence the term ‘badge bunny,’” you remark.
The conversation is interrupted by one of the engines backing into the station. You probably should have noticed it was gone, but frankly, as long as your rig is in the bay safe and sound, you don’t care what the meatheads are up to.
Speaking of meatheads…
“Oh good, PB is back,” you remark sarcastically.
‘PB’, aka ‘pretty boy,’ aka Buck. You started calling him Pretty Boy his first day, and over the months, you shortened it. He jogs his way up the stairs and dips a finger in the communal spaghetti bowl. You roll your eyes and take a sip of your coffee.
“Wash your hands!” Hen scolds as she pulls the bowl out of his reach.
“What if there’d been a call?” Bobby asks as he brings the last dishes to the table.
“I was in the neighborhood!” Buck defends himself. He takes one of the plates from Bobby’s grasp, but instead of passing it around like a normal person, he starts eating the food off the plate with his dirty hands. Sometimes, you wondered if he was raised by a pack of stray dogs.
Bobby starts lecturing Buck, and you smirk with a little satisfaction. Bobby’s going to write him up, and truthfully? It’s a long time coming.
“First infraction, two more, and you’re out,” Bobby says as he steals back the plate. “Wash your hands.”
“You know, you're not helping him by going easy on him,” Chim says once Buck is out of earshot.
“He just needs a little direction,” Bobby replies.
“I’ll remind you of that when he gets us killed,” you mumble.
The alarm bells start to sound through the station. Everyone groans, including yourself. So much for dinner.
Chim decided to catch a ride with the boys in the truck, so that leaves you and Hen in the rig.
“I’m sorry, dispatch,” you say into the radio, “118 RA responding: did you say the baby is in the wall?”
“10-4, 118,” the dispatcher responds. “Caller reports hearing a baby crying in his walls.”
“Copy that, 118 RA clear,” you say before hanging the radio back up. “Well, this will be fun.”
“You think you can play nice with Buck?” Hen asks, a smirk on her face.
“Hey, I’m always nice,” you reply.
“Not to him!” She laughs. “Don’t think I didn’t see you roll your eyes the second he got back to the station.”
“I can play nice and still think he’s a raging idiot,” you defend. “Besides, since when are you his biggest fan?”
“Trust me, I’m not,” Hen chuckles. “And I love you, but you don’t know how to play nice.”
“Why be the bigger person when you can be the bigger problem?”
That remark gets a full belly laugh out of Hen. “Yeah, that sounds like you.”
Hen parks the rig behind the engine in front. The boys come pouring out immediately, grabbing various tools and equipment. You make your way to the back of the ambulance, tossing Hen her med bag before picking up your own.
You follow the rest of the crew upstairs, and before you know it, the five of you are standing in some random guy’s apartment, listening for something that probably isn’t real.
“Look, I'm telling you, I heard a baby crying,” the man says. “Someone flushed a baby down the toilet.”
Hen picks up a bong off the counter and gives the man a look.
“I’m not high.”
You both raise your eyebrows.
“Okay, I’m pretty high, but it’s Sativa,” he says. “It makes you happy. It doesn’t make you hallucinate.”
“It could’ve been a rat,” Chim shrugs. “Sometimes rats get stuck in the walls.”
You frown. At the end of his sentence, you swore you heard a cooing sound.
“Shh,” you say to everyone, walking over to the bathroom. “Did you guys hear that?”
They're hot on your heels, watching as you take your stethoscope from around your neck and put it into your ears. You place the bell on the wall and wait. When you hear nothing, you begin rapping your knuckles on the tile until you do. Once again, it’s a faint cooing sound, not unlike a baby.
You then knock your knuckles on the wall until you hear a hollow sound. You take a marker from your pants pocket and mark an ‘x’ over it, knowing the space behind it is hollow. You take the stethoscope out from your ears.
“We need to open up this wall,” you say, pointing to the ‘x.’
“No, we’re being punked,” Chim disagrees. “It’s a tape recorder or something.”
“Maybe not,” Hen says, stepping forward. “Maybe a mother gives birth on the toilet and flushes it.”
“Okay, first of all, that's awful,” Chim says. “Second, do you know how pipes work?”
“If the baby is premature, its bones can bend and compress like sponges,” Bobby mentions. “We need to get in there.”
“Stand back, I got this!” Buck says, swinging his fire axe over his shoulder.
He runs up towards the wall with full intentions of swinging. Hen and Chim move out of the way and shout while Bobby tries to grab him. Ultimately, you’re the one to stop him, and you do it by placing both hands on the axe.
“Hey! Did you even stop to consider that you might hit a baby?!” You shout, adrenaline pumping through your bloodstream.
Buck just stares at you with wide eyes.
“Yeah, didn’t think so,” you spat, pushing the axe out of the way.
“Buck, go get the saw,” Bobby directs.
“Try to find some common sense while you’re down there,” you call after Buck as he walks out.
“Nice catch,” Bobby says, looking at you.
“How nice of me to save the baby from one of the LAFD’s finest first responders,” you reply bitterly.
You can’t help but look at Hen, who quickly looks away. Her avoidance gives you a small sense of victory because this? This shit right here? This is why you can’t play nice with Buck. His head is screwed on backward, and it can get people killed. Playing nice isn’t going to fix that.
Thankfully, Bobby takes the saw from Buck once he brings it up. He makes a few small cuts in the wall before he and the other boys are pulling at the drywall. They quickly expose a massive pipe running behind the toilet.
“That thing is huge,” you remark to Hen.
“It probably connects a bunch of the toilets in the units above this one,” Hen returned.
“So… even with the water turned off…” you start, a sense of dread filling your stomach.
“If someone above us flushes the toilet, it could drown the baby,” Hen finishes. Almost before she finishes the sentence, she’s running into the hall, yelling for people not to flush their toilets. The boys make a few cuts into the pipe, and in no time, they’re taking it to the floor.
“Guys, I can see the head,” you say, joining them on the floor.
They make a few more cuts until the pipe is one straight segment.
“Get the head out,” Chim instructs.
“Yeah, you gotta push from below,” Buck chimes in.
You try that, but the baby isn’t moving. You look to the corner, then at Buck.
“Bring me the defibrillator,” you instruct clearly.
Buck scrambles over, picking up the case.
“Just the lube, Buck,” you rephrase, but he’s already coming back with the whole thing.
“Take it, take it,” Buck says, passing it off to you.
You let out a frustrated sigh before grabbing the lube out and tossing the rest of it to the side. You pour some lube on the baby’s head, then down by its feet.
“Work that in,” you tell Chim.
You move your index finger around the circumference of the pipe, brushing the baby’s legs with lubricant as you do so. Then, you gently apply pressure to its feet, and slowly, you can feel it move forward.
“This is gonna be a scoop and run,” you mumble.
“Hen, get the ambulance ready,” Bobby tells her. You’re not sure when she got back, but when you look up again, she’s gone again.
Slowly, the baby’s head emerges from the pipe, and the rest of her body follows.
“She’s not breathing,” you quickly note, “starting CPR.”
You place your index and middle finger in the center of the baby’s chest and press down fast and hard. “Looks like her airway’s obstructed.”
“Buck, get the bulb syringe,” Chim demands. A few seconds pass. “Buck, come on!”
“I’m coming!” Buck barks back, clearly in a panic.
“Come on, pretty girl,” you say quietly as you continue compressions. “Come on, sweetheart.”
Buck returns with the bulb syringe and uses it, but it doesn’t help.
“Dammit,” you curse. “You’ll have to try a blind finger sweep.”
Buck looks at you, then Chimney, then the baby, then back at you. “Me?”
“You gotta learn somehow,” you remark. “It’s easy: just turn her head to the side, curl your pinkie, and see if you can scoop anything out.”
Buck is hesitant initially, but he eventually does as you tell him. It takes a few seconds, but he manages to clear the obstruction, and the baby begins crying. Everyone laughs with relief.
“Let’s get her wrapped up,” you say, reaching for a towel.
The four of you rush down the hall, you with the baby in your arms. The pit in your stomach returns.
“No one held the elevator?!” you yell.
“Dammit,” Chim curses.
“Give her to me,” Buck says, nodding to the stairs.
You stare at him.
“Come on, I’m twice as fast,” Buck pleads.
“Screw this up, and I’ll kill you,” you threaten before carefully handing her over.
Buck takes off down the stairs, but you follow after. There’s only so much that can happen in a few flights of stairs, but you aren’t willing to risk it.
“I got you,” Buck says to the baby, “you’ll be okay.”
A faint smile crosses your face. Maybe Buck isn’t so terrible after all.
“Come on, move it!” Buck shouts as you both make it out of the lobby and out to the rig.
You climb into the ambulance with him, but before either of you can even sit down, you hear someone yelling to wait. It’s not just anyone: it’s LAPD Sergeant Grant, or as you’ve heard Hen calls her, Athena.
“Wait, is that the mother?” Buck says, looking at the young woman with blood-stained pants in someone’s arms. “Yo, screw her! Look what she did!”
Never mind. Buck is still terrible.
“Sit down and shut up!” You yell at Buck. “This is not your call! She is a child, and she’s bleeding out!”
“Look what she did!” Buck repeated.
“Come on, let’s get her up here,” you say to Athena and the man carrying the young girl, disregarding Buck’s protests.
Bobby and Chim made it down, so they help haul the young girl up into the rig. Chim stays at the head while Bobby sits next to Buck, the spot you were about to sit in mere moments ago.
“If this baby dies, it’s on you,” Buck says, staring at Athena.
“Stop talking, Evan,” you snap as someone closes the ambulance doors.
Using his actual name seems to shut him up.
“What’s your name, honey?” You ask the baby’s mother as you cut away her shirt to place EKG leads.
“Marika,” she whispers. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
“I know you’re scared, Marika, but you just have to keep breathing for me, okay?” you say. “My friend Howie is going to start an IV so we can give you fluids and medication. You’re bleeding a lot, so I have to do what’s called a fundal exam, okay? I have to press on your stomach to make sure your uterus is contracting back down normally.”
She stares at you, eyes filled with tears, before eventually nodding.
Using one hand to stabilize over the pubis, you begin pressing down the other into Marika’s stomach, a few fingerbreadths below her belly button. She lets out a few whimpers. You don’t feel the fundus, or the top of the uterus, like you should.
“Marika, you’re bleeding a lot because your uterus isn’t contracting. I have to make it contract by doing a fundal massage. It won’t feel that good, but it could save your life.”
Once again, Marika looks at you before nodding. This time, she closes her eyes.
Using firm and consistent pressure, you push one hand down where the fundus should be and make small circles. Marika lets out a few more cries of pain. You notice that, after a few minutes, the bleeding starts to slow, and her uterus firms up beneath your hands.
“Hospital ETA 5 minutes, hang in,” Hen chimes in from the ambulance's cab.
“Something’s wrong,” Buck says, staring at the baby in his arms.
You quickly move over to him. “Put her in your lap so I can see.”
Buck listens, moving away the towel so you can look at the baby. She’s cyanosed around the lips. You flip open a compartment and pull out the neonatal ambu bag. You hand it to Bobby, and you don’t even have to tell him to start bagging.
“I’m so sorry,” Marika says. “Is she gonna be okay?”
Bobby squeezes the bag every other second, delivering a breath to the baby. Her color is starting to look better, but she isn’t very responsive.
“Here, let me try something,” you say.
You gently pick up the baby and set it on Marika’s bare chest. After a few moments, the baby begins to move and cry out.
“Oh my god, why did that work?” Marika asks, wrapping her hands around her baby.
“Skin-to-skin can help babies regulate bodily functions, like temperature and breathing,” you reply as you place a towel over them.
You look over to the men sitting next to you. Bobby gives you a nod, and Buck avoids eye contact, but you can tell that he’s pissed. Fuck him, he doesn’t know his head from his ass anyways.
Once the rig pulls into the ambulance bay, you and Chim help the ER staff get the gurney out of the ambulance. Bobby and Buck follow suit, only Buck tries to follow them into the hospital. Bobby stops him before he does.
Bobby gives Buck some lecture about how we did our jobs, and now it’s their turn; it’s the speech every overly excited first responder gets at least once at the start of their career.
A cop car pulls up, and Athena comes out. She clearly found the person she was looking for, because she starts yelling at Buck.
“You do not get to choose who lives and who dies,” she lectures.
“Really? Because I was under the impression that kind of was my job,” Buck retorts.
You could seriously slap him.
“That mother was no less of a child than her baby,” Athena continues yelling, pointing a finger at the hospital. “You’re gonna get someone killed.”
“Well, maybe, but not today,” Buck says with a cocky head tilt.
You laugh humorlessly. “You know what, Pretty Boy?” you say, turning to Buck.
Fuck it. Bobby won’t put him in his place, and Athena isn’t allowed to, so you take matters into your own hands, literally.
Before you even fully comprehend what you’re doing, you’re wrapping a hand around Buck’s throat and pushing him against the ambulance. You aren’t choking him, but you don’t move your hand because keeping it there is your only leverage.
“I’m getting real tired of this tough guy bullshit,” you growl, your face only an inch from his. He’s quite a bit taller than you, but when you bounced him off the rig, his footing faltered, so he’s crouched at your eye level. “You wanna get real, Evan? You didn’t do a goddamn thing today except get in the way. While we were busy saving lives, you were shitting your pants and dropping the ball, not exactly what a tough guy is supposed to do.”
“Okay, enough,” Bobby says, trying to break it up. You’re far from finished, though.
You move your hand from his neck, but only so you can point it in his face. “You aren’t a god — you don’t decide who lives! You didn’t even save a life today: we did, because you kept fucking up. And if you keep fucking up like you did today, you definitely will kill someone, and your little jokes and midday booty calls and your shitty little grin won’t change that!”
Bobby ends up physically pulling you away while Athena makes some room between the two of you.
“Aren’t you going to arrest her or something?” Buck says, rubbing his neck. “She assaulted me!”
“She didn’t say anything that wasn’t true,” Athena counters. “I promise you, Buckley, the next time you screw up? It’ll be your last.”
Athena casts Bobby a glance before she walks away.
“You,” Bobby says, looking at Buck, “in the truck. Now.”
You start to walk over to the passenger’s side of the cab when Bobby calls after you.
“I want you in my office the second we get back,” He orders.
You clench your jaw. “Yes Captain.”

Thoughts and prayers rants...
So, now that I've had almost 48 hours to marinate on this and cycled through my emotions, I am in a much better headspace to talk on the whole 9-1-1 of it all.
But this bears repeating: We fell in love with Tommy because he made Buck fall in love with Evan.
So, first and foremost, I've decided that canon stopped for me at 8x05. lol. I am going to continue with my BT train like that shit show didn't happen. And for me, for a while, I am going to let the show end there. I will go back, probably after the hiatus, but not how I was. I do love all the characters on this show (some more than others) and I still want to be able to see their journey, but I need a break from that manipulation stunt. I'm still going to share all the positive BT stuff I see and all the beautiful Lou content I see.
Secondly, now that I am over the initial hurt of the breakup, I'm just mad. We were manipulated intentionally with 8x05 for us to feel worse when the break up happened. That was unnecessary. And that was cruel. And I know that a lot of this is because it was the icing on a shit week. Emotions were already raw due to the election and it was reallllllyyyy bad timing for this, but that doesn't make the way they did it okay, just that it can explain why there was such a strong reaction for many of us, on top of the completely justified anger.
Breakups happen, and that's okay. If it was the end of Tommy's time on the show, that's okay. I am a Buck girlie and I always will be. But... the breakup was reductive, stereotypical, and just poor storytelling. I get they want to leave doors open a crack, because you never truly know, but turning him into an OOC stereotypical biphobic gay man is disgusting. You had this beautiful thing and you shat on it. I am going to do another post about my personal relationship with groundbreaking storylines next.
That was a miscommunication. That was a breakup where someone chases after you and is like wtf actually just happened. It felt like whiplash, because that is not how breakups are formulated in media. You know how else you could have written him out of the story?
At the date (and the basketball tickets are actually a really sweet touch when you think about it) Tommy could have told Buck that he got a job offer in another city or state or that his parents are ill and he has to go home to take care of them and asked Buck to go with him. At the apartment, it could have been buck telling him that as much as he could see a future with him, he can't go with him.
Would it have sucked? Yes. But it wouldn't have induced this amount of rage.
For over six months Lou and BTs have been at the receiving amount of a ton of vitriol. And that's not to say that there weren't antagonizers on this side of the fence or that BTs never did anything wrong, but this isn't a both sides bullshit piece. People can suck everywhere, but only one "side" harassed an actor and his family with death threats, he read about the "stoning" calls, used slurs on a regular basis. All of this persisted for months for it to turn out that he was the only one who seemed to give a shit about the story and it's representation. There honestly doesn't seem like there would have been anyone better for it.
You know what's ironic? It was the Buddie's hate and vitriol that pulled me into fandom and made me love Tommy and then Lou. When they would run their mouths, I would look into it and I found a man who genuinely seems like (he is still someone we don't know) a wonderfully kind, sweethearted, genuine man. He looks like a bundle of light and his smile can warm even the coldest hearts. So their vitriol made me a fan. So thanks BoBs.
Buck and Tommy wasn't just about Buck's queerness and definitely not about "wanting to see two white men kiss". It was about our love for Buck. We saw him happier and more fulfilled than he's ever been. We see his life being lived and full of love and stuff and joy.
Again:
We fell in love with Tommy because he made Buck fall in love with Evan.
And you know what, not matter how reductive and all the phobics that breakup was, they can never take that away from us.

9-1-1 Season 7 Post-Mortem
Mostly because I want to put my thoughts in order. Full disclosure: I'm really not thrilled with a lot of the choices this season made, but I'm also not at the 'fuck this show I hate it now' level either. The primary, overarching issue, IMO, is that they tried to stuff a full season's worth of plot into ten episodes, and the pacing and emotional continuity suffered badly. And also there were some writing choices that were simply deranged (and hopefully would have been reworked had they not been laying down the tracks in front of the speeding train, so to speak).
(Cut for me rambling at length)
So: Bobby and Athena were largely really solidly written. The cruise ship disaster was great: campy and OTT, but in a fun way. Their marital issues and the eventual resolution felt like a natural continuation of issues they've had in the past. Bobby Begins 3.0 was a great episode other than the cartel element, which was some ill-considered racial stereotyping (I've said it before and I'll say it again: you could have had the antagonists in that episode be a bunch of angry locals threatening people for tresspassing on their property, and the whole thing would have been 100% less gross without actually changing much of the plot. Really felt like Tim was cribbing from the similar Lone Star arc, which was also lazy and racist). Amir was a fantastic character, and while I could have done without that last scene of him offering Bobby absolution, I feel like he was generally allowed to be both gracious and rightfully angry. The cop Athena stuff in the finale was... less great, but also to be expected. I would have liked much less of that and much more time spent at Bobby's bedside.
(I'm really sad about the house fire mostly because that was one of my favorite sets, but I do appreciate the poetry of the parallel, with Bobby actually managing to get his wife out this time. Though I do wonder where Harry was that night, lmao.)
Hen was similarly wonderful. I really liked getting to see her wrestle with the responsibility of being captain, and the fallout of the car accident scene. In a vacuum, I actually like Ortiz as a villain - a complicated one, with sympathetic motivations, but still ostentatiously cruel. Were it not for the fact that there are basically NO latine characters other than Eddie who aren't villains this season, it would have been great. ALAS.
Did not love the rescue dog/foster child parallel with Mara. Otherwise really loved getting to see her settle in with the Wilsons, and I'm really glad that we got to see Chim and Maddie take her in instead of leaving her at the group home by the end of the season. Really leaned into the found family element, and Chim taking care of his best friend's child in the same way that Mrs. Lee did for him.
CHIM! Chim my beloved. 'There Goes The Groom' is the one episode that I have basically no issues with at all. The hallucinatory trip through Los Angeles, wrestling with Doug's ghost, was gorgeous. Bringing back Kevin - also gorgeous. I loved that we see the Lees explicitly framed as his real family (and am spitefully glad that his bio dad was nowhere to be found. Fuck that guy.) Kenny continues to be, IMO, the best actor on this show. He killed it. We need so many more Chim-centric episodes, because they're always SO good. He can make both humor and pathos feel so natural and human. Give us more Chim!
And of course on to Buck's bisexual arc, which was... so painfully Buck, lmao. Full disclosure: I have a lot of trouble rewatching 7x04 and 7x05 because the secondhand embarrassment is just too much for me, but objectively it feels very right and in character for him. LOVED the first kiss scene, with his dawning realization of what's about to happen and his softly stunned joy afterward. His coming out scenes with both Maddie and Eddie were lovely and perfectly appropriate to both relationships. I really liked him taking the initiative to reach out to Tommy to apologize and ask for a second chance after he fucked up their first date. Loved Tommy showing up at the hospital after what was clearly a long, miserable shift.
Their date in the finale didn't really land for me mostly because of where it was placed in the episode; if they did something with the two of them after Buck spent the entire day at Bobby's bedside waiting to see if he was going to live, it would have felt a lot more natural to me to have them exhaustedly eating takeout on the couch or something instead of having a formal sit-down date with wine and place settings. Intentionally or not, that made it feel like they're still on Date Behavior with each other and despite some gestures toward emotional vulnerability, they're not quite there yet - as seen by Buck steering the conversation back to flirting and innuendo. My overall feeling on the relationship at this point is that it's cute, but I'm not seeing any real depth of feeling between them yet.
Buck and Eddie on the other hand - look, despite my many MANY issues with Eddie's plot this season, I loved how his relationship with Buck was written. I love the intimacy and familiarity of how they are together, I loved the way Eddie let himself lean on Buck, I loved how Buck is clearly positioned as an integral part of the Diaz family.
Unfortunately, that's really the only thing I loved about Eddie's plot this season. His relationship with Marisol was ultimately pointless; she was never fleshed out enough to feel like a real character, and we never even see the fallout of Eddie's cheating with regard to her; it's all Chris. The Kim stuff strained credulity, and also I never felt like he got any kind of emotional catharsis or resolution through it; he still hasn't really confronted any of his issues about Shannon, about their marriage and how it ended. That whole arc felt really wobbly in terms of tone, as well: using plot elements of a very famous psychological thriller without actually acknowledging any of the creepiness of it. I would have liked it to lean into that more especially with the scene where Kim dresses up as Shannon, an objectively creepy and unhinged thing to do.
The Diaz parents handled the Chris thing in a selfish and opportunistic way that felt both disappointing and inevitable. Hopefully that's going to be a hook for the next season and Eddie actually confronting them, but overall Eddie's plot this season really felt like they just tossed a bunch of balls up in the air and mostly failed to catch them.
Gerrard - look, I'm not that worried about Gerrard. I could have done without him, but ultimately he's going to stick around just long enough to make his inevitable defeat satisfying. At least, that's my hope.

I know buck was weirded out by the fact that tommy and abby was engaged. I mean who wouldnt? That's a crazy twist. But I got a feeling that buck was bothered by it because tommy had hurt abby. Almost like he still care about her and feel protective over her and angry at tommy for hurting her. I know he loved her and maybe still care about her, but that just seem weird to me. At the restaurant scene when tommy said he was engaged and almost married a women, buck looked surprised seems understanding about it. When tommy said abby took a himbo half her age, buck just responded by saying she maybe did that to get tommy out of her system. He didnt even mad at tommy and seems to be on his side. But when tommy said it was abby clark and buck realised who it was, he got shocked which is understable. And then he told maddie. And said that tommy led abby on and hurt her. And buck thought he knew tommy and never thought tommy would be that cruel. But he only feel that way when he found out the women was abby. So I wonder if he would react the same way if the women wasnt abby? Based on his reaction before tommy mention her name he doesnt seem to care about it. I dont know. To me it looks like he still care about abby which is ok but like he cares more about her than tommy when he is actually dating tommy in the present. I dont know maybe I'm wrong but I just feel weird about it. Actually all the scenes was weird in this episode.
I really dont like buck flirting with that women in the restaurant. I mean tommy was there and watching. Its so rude. And then the convo about women and abby. And then the scene with maddie and josh. Another thing thats weird to me. Why buck was so suprised and hurt on abby's behave for what tommy did? I know what tommy did is not right, but tommy used to be a closeted gay men when he was younger. We all know that and so does buck. He was probably spend most of his life being in the closet than out. Which means he probably had girlfriends in the past and hook up with guys in secret. Like most all closeted gays do at the time?. I mean I know this is 2024 but buck is not a teenager. He's young but not that young. He's what, 30, 33? I'm 30 and even I know how hard it was for the gays in the past. A lot of them hiding in the closet meaning they maybe had girlfriends and even wife. Even I know and understand why they had to do that. And buck doesnt and got angry about it? And what the hell about that speech about post glee stuff. I know a lot of people like it but its not my favourite. It just seems cheezy and frankly unnecesarry because a man at buck's age should've known all that stuff already.
It seems like buck had build up a perfect image of tommy in his mind. His first impression of tommy is that he's so cool and feel threatened by him which turn out to be a crush. And he look up to tommy and admired him which is cute and all. But then he saw this flaw of tommy and he got dissapointed. I think he should know that not everyone is perfect not even tommy. But its not good to have that kind of high expectation to anyone, even your own partner. They gonna have flaws and weakness.
Making buck asking tommy to move in after all that knowledge about abby and gay history is another weird move. How come he got that idea after all that. Another thing to blame the writers about. Not to mention making tommy feels like that is the end of their relationship. He could have just said it was too soon which it is. It is too soon and clearly tommy is not ready for it. A lot of couple survive through that. Its not a marriage proposal. Most doesnt work out after a rejection of proposal but this is not it. They could've work it out. Its like the writers in ep 5 is totally different from ep 6. I have read a lot of fanfiction that are a lot better than this mess of storyline.

hear me out
tubbo x ftm reader where they’re making out then reader gets a massive hickey
they have to go out later and everyone’s making fun of reader until they get home and tubbo pays the price
(sorry if this is weird it’s my first request but I love your work and I’m so glad you write for tubbo :) )
Yes yes, Toby my pretty boy. It's really short sorry </3
Tubbo x Ftm! Reader
He begged for it. Oh, how he did. Tubbo is always a big fan of letting people know he has a boyfriend. He shows him every time on stream, posting pictures with him and walking in the streets with interlocked fingers. Bites and hickies weren't an exception. Of course, Tommy was the first one to make jokes about it. Asking if a mosquito had bitten him or if he was dating a vampire. The whole day at his place was full of jokes and mocking his hickie. When they got home, M/n was pissed. He only grabbed Tubbo's hand and walked to their room, he pushed Tubbo to the bed, forcing him to stay down.
"What? Honey, what are you doing?" Tubbo asks. He was blushing and shy, surprised by the sudden action. He knew his boyfriend was mad at him, but he couldn’t deny he was happy to mark him as his. He tried to move. It was hopeless. M/n was pinning him down, this until he forced himself between Tubbo's legs.
"Shh! Quiet. I don't want to hear your voice." He frowns, grabbing his pants and undoing his belt. He throws it at a random corner of the room, putting his hand under his underwear. M/n could feel him getting hard on his hand. He wouldn't take the rest of his clothes off. He would just let Tubbo need more.
M/n was fast, pulling his underwear down just enough so he could free his cock. His hand is strong as he wraps it around Tubbo's cock, he likes being rude and rough with him, it's his darkest desire. He would make him pay one way or another. Tubbo never really shaves, but today it was good looking, he probably knew his boyfriend would use him like a toy.
Tubbo was holding himself, so he didn't moan to a simple touch. He was already hard, and he wasn't even a little bit ashamed of it. He bucks his hips up, meeting M/n's strokes, desperate for relief.
"So.. you're going to use me? That's hot.." Tubbo giggles, sitting on the bed. He caresses M/n's hair as he plays with him. He was nervous like always. He usually stayed quiet. He never knew what to say in the middle of the sex, let alone when M/n was touching him. He suddenly got quiet, leaning down to kiss his boyfriend's forehead.
It was awkward, but M/n didn't complain. He went down and taked Tubbo on his mouth after licking it. Tubbo wasn't that big, so it was easy to take him on his mouth. He would do all the way down and come back, smiling at him. M/n took it off sometimes, only to look at Tubbo and ask for permission to keep going. He was grabbing the sheets, smiking at M/n.
Tubbo was getting used to the feeling until M/n stop, he tilts his head, frowning. "What.. babe? What happened?" He asks with a pout and small voice. He was shy again. He grabs M/n's chin, and he goes up. He kisses Tubbo before getting up.
"You can finish alone." M/n shrugs, walking away from the room, letting Tubbo lost and confused. He blows him a kiss, getting out of the room. It was cruel, and he almost went back, but at this time, Tubbo deserved it.

Found it. Question and answer 🙂
Q. Hello, I really do love your blog. I actually came across your blog following a Sherlock post, so I know you have good taste. I'm not exactly fandom savvy so I will admit that I might have responded too strongly to the initial B/T excitement, but I went back and re-watched the season through the perspective of your's and a few other blogs. I now think the story you and others believe they're telling is the story they're setting up. I actually kind of feel stupid for not seeing it initially. But how do you think the show is going to get their breakup? Do you think Buck or Tommy will be the one to call things off? Will Buck or Eddie make the first move in getting them together?
A. Haha, Sherlock, wow you went deep into the vault of my blog for that one! You are absolutely not stupid. Overzealousness to the initial newness was always going to be a thing. I promise you that didn't surprise anyone. Adjusting too and participating in any kind of fandom involves a learning curve. What sucks for you all though, unfortunately, is your learning curve came as a result of the wrong people taking the lead in your fandom. So you all had to learn everything the hard way. Sadly I'm an old mom when it comes to fandom, lol. Yes I was there for Sherlock (Cumberbatch not Downey, but I love him too so don't @ me). I am still part of the Robron (Robert and Aaron) fandom, but I cut my teeth in the Chrolli (Christian and Oliver) fandom. That one taught me many cruel lessons. So don't ever feel stupid about having to figure things out. The majority of the messages in my ask box now are from people like you. People who were very excited and very into it, maybe a bit too much, in the beginning, but are less enthusiastic now. Just like the initial over excitement was expected the come down you and many others are experiencing now was also expected. Most of you were always going to get over it almost as quickly as you fell in love with it. It happens. The show knew it would happen as well. Lou did too, it's why he way over did things in the beginning. He knew he was on a clock. I will say that your fandom did show me a first though, and that's having the show and actors blocking multiple members of your fandom. I had never seen that before. And that's not a legacy you want to be a part of. Any fandom whose leading voices openly encourage and promote sending hate to the actors and the official show accounts is a fandom not long for existence. I one hundred percent believe that their eagerness and public bragging about sending Ryan messages wishing he had committed suicide is what prompted Tim/ABC to put an end to the cameo nonsense. They were never going to allow that level of depravity to continue. So you're really just reading and acknowledging the writing on the wall. So welcome back 🙂
As for the Buck and Tommy breakup they have a few options. I go back and forth between who should officially end things. Any way the show goes though it won't be a dramatic breakup. The show hasn't established this as being a serious relationship for either character. So either way it's going to be amicable. There's no need for it to be anything else. I have mostly believed that Buck, narratively speaking, needs to be the one to walk away. It would show nice character growth for him to be able to acknowledge and see the pattern this relationship is following and finally break the cycle. But if they lean into Buck's very real fear of a relationship with Eddie maybe leading to him losing both Eddie, and Christopher, I could see them having Buck double down on his determination to force the relationship with Tommy to work. That would put Tommy in the position of having to be the one to walk away. And I think that's probably the way the story will go. And I want to stress to everyone that this is fine. It will be obvious Buck doesn't want the relationship, but is staying because he's afraid of the relationship he does want. So even if the show has Tommy be the one who officially ends things, it will still be because Buck is in love with Eddie. Do not spend time overthinking who does the breaking up. Why they breakup is the important part. Don't get caught up in the semantics.
As for who will make the first official Buddie move, I think it will be and needs to be Eddie. I just don't see the build up on Buck's part not being about his abandonment issues and genuine fear of losing Eddie and Christopher if the relationship doesn't work out. And believe it or not, anon, Eddie is usually the more level headed of the two. So I think Eddie will need to be the one to help Buck realize that it's okay to jump. Getting Buck to take the first leap will be the hardest part for Buck, but once he jumps he will be all in. Then it will be Buck's turn to walk Eddie through all the firsts he's about to experience.
Oh no, OP! I get it! I was in the Chrolli fandom as well. The way they treated Christian's character development was just terrible. It was like complete character assassination. I was so hurt after that, that I never even rewatched any of the earlier episodes when things were so good between them. I couldn't. Like the OP said, it was cruel.
Once again a brilliant answer.
I agree that it will probably be Tommy who will break up with Buck, after Buck had his realisation about Eddie. The 'My attention?' line has to come back in season 8. It was too obvious.
As for who will make the first move with Buddie? I am still undecided on that, but the OP does make a compelling case in her answer.
Thank you Nonny for dropping this in my askbox!
Remember, no hate in comments or reblogs. Let's keep it civil and respectful. Thank you.

curtain’s closed (i’m watching you this time), a bucktommy fic!
length: 5,511 words
language: english
tags: fluff, mild hurt/comfort, exhausted! buck, soft buck, soft tommy, sleepy cuddles, date night, domestic vibes, buck-centric narrative, big spoon! tommy, little spoon! buck
site: ao3 (linked here!)
summary:
"That's not the job, Evan," Tommy turned his head, pressing his lips to the crown of Buck's head.
"That's all you, sweetheart." Tommy murmured into his hair and Buck? Buck was so gone for this man that it was a bit ridiculous. As he lay there, his face smushed against his gorgeous pilot boyfriend's neck, drawing lazy circles on Tommy's shoulder and grinning like a fool, Buck realized he could see a future here. Not a few weeks or months, but years of companionship, of kindness, of stories swapped and gentle embraces, inside jokes and shared closets and--
Oh, he'd done it now. Buck was well aware there was no backpedaling now that his mind had caught up with something he had subconsciously been tiptoeing around since the fateful cat-5 mouth static.
“B’careful there, Tommy… You keep saying stuff like that and I’ll start to think you like me.”
(or, Tommy comes over after a hard shift for Buck and has to herd his overworked boyfriend to bed. Buck gets to be the little spoon, Tommy gets to give his boyfriend the praise he desperately needs, and Buck is still tormented by his lack of a couch and his love of clipboards, somehow)
inspired by @breadandjamsforfrances’s post about buck being the little spoon for the first time and @buckevantommy’s request for some evan little spoon/human blanket fics!
Buck wasn’t nervous. He wasn’t! It wouldn’t be the first time that Tommy was in his apartment, between their first kiss and the subsequent dinner dates that he had hosted over the past month or so.
Okay, so maybe it was the first time that Tommy had texted Buck before the 118’s shift was even over asking to see him. It had been a hard shift, starting with a call to an electrical fire at a daycare that had Buck scouring the building for an unaccounted-for child until Bobby had to physically wrest him from the crumbling structure and only getting more hectic and taxing as the hours passed.
So it goes without saying that seeing the notification from his boyfriend (god, would that ever get old?) had been a welcome sight, even if the unexplained spontaneity was a bit unnerving. It certainly had not in any way triggered an afternoon of methodically going from one corner to the other of the loft, cleaning every speck of dust in sight, throwing his bedding in the wash, and even running to the store to pick up some beer and then promptly panicking, calling Eddie when the wall of bottles and cans towering over him all started to blur together.
Buck’s phone buzzed against the freshly cleaned counter. Peering over at it from his place in front of the sink, the man’s eyebrows furrowed a little bit when his eyes caught on Eddie’s name instead of Tommy’s, seeing as it was nearly seven and Tommy was not one to be late (barring the occasional massive forest fire, of course).
[18:50] tubbs (eddie): I hope he gets there before Clipboard Buck does
Buck audibly groaned, rolling his eyes fondly at the device as he finished drying the glass in his hand and set it on the drying rack before scooping up his phone and responding.
[18:50] crockett (buck): was the capitalization necessary???
[18:50] tubbs (eddie): Yes.
[18:51] crockett (buck): >:(
[18:51] crockett (buck): also, rude!!!!
[18:51] crockett (buck): your hatred towards my poor clipboard is cruel!
[18:52] tubbs (eddie): I don’t know what to tell you Buck!!!
[18:53] tubbs (eddie): Even the strongest of men cannot handle Clipboard Buck!
The fact that Buck could pinpoint the exact exasperated look on his best friend’s face in his mind was a bit concerning, honestly. In the relative quiet of his flat, though, surrounded by the whirring of fan blades and the quiet buzz of his appliances, the man couldn’t find it within himself to get self-conscious at the idea of caring that much about a friend like he would have up until joining the 118.
[18:54] crockett (buck): don’t u worry, the clipboard is safely stored away
[18:54] crockett (buck): it served its purpose well
[18:54] tubbs (eddie): I’m not even gonna ask.
Then, there was a lull in the texts. In place of the flow of banter, Buck’s mind went into overdrive once again, the doubts creeping into his brain like lichen in the cracks of a lone forest stone. The sound of his thumbs hitting the screen of his phone as he typed and deleted about a dozen different messages was oddly soothing. About halfway into a rambling and probably ill-advised text about Tommy’s fashion choices, Buck’s phone buzzed yet again.
[18:56] tubbs (eddie): Relax, man.
[18:56] tubbs (eddie): I think your typing bubble is going to seize if you keep doing whatever it is that you’re doing over there.
Buck snorted, feeling a bit of the tension coiling in his shoulders fall away. Still, the jittery, nervous energy was making itself heard, loud and clear, through his thumb’s jerky movements as he forced himself to type an actual response to Eddie and hit send like it was a life-or-death situation.
[18:57] crockett (buck): whatifhesbreakingupwithme?????
[18:57] tubbs (eddie): He isn’t.
[18:57] crockett (buck): HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?!?
[18:58] tubbs (eddie): He let you blow up his phone with the history of tornado alley at 4am…?
[18:58] crockett (buck): …
Had that really been 4am? A quick swipe into his and Tommy’s text thread showed that, yes, Buck had gone down that particular rabbit hole at 4:12 in the morning and for some reason his boyfriend had entertained it. The corners of his mouth twitched up into a soft smile as he returned to the conversation with Eddie.
[18:58] crockett (buck): fair point
[18:58] crockett (buck): i’m freaking out over nothing, aren’t i???
[18:59] tubbs (eddie): Yeah but that’s okay. It just feeds Hen’s golden retriever theory.
[18:59] crockett (buck): pfft thanks man
It was at that moment that Buck glanced up and caught sight of the glowing “6:59” of the oven’s clock. In a moment of panic, the man nearly dropped his phone as he fumbled to finish up his conversation with Eddie.
[18:59] crockett (buck): he’s probably on his way up now, gtg
[19:00] tubbs (eddie): Have fun, man!!
[19:00] tubbs (eddie): Not too much though lol.
No sooner had Buck placed the phone back on the counter when three quiet knocks sounded from the front door. The blonde didn’t even realize he was holding his breath until he pulled the door open and found himself standing face-to-face with Tommy. Tommy, who stood there in a simple gray tee shirt, a light-weight denim jacket, and jeans like he was unaware of his ability to make any outfit look like it was made for him, somehow. The pilot's usually immaculate hair was less styled than usual, a couple of loose little brown waves falling just below his hairline. Just looking at the man, his boyfriend, made Buck feel like the air in his lungs had been punched out of him.
"Hey, you." Tommy's voice jarred Buck out of his praise-filled train of thought, amused and warm in a way the younger man thought he would never fully get used to.
"Hi, hey, uh–" As Buck's voice cracked, he could already feel the warmth of what was undoubtedly an outrageous blush working its way up the back of his neck. “You made it with a minute to spare!”
“It would have been more but I spent about ten minutes driving ‘round the block,” Tommy accepted Buck’s silent invitation inside, stepping around him and stooping down to untie his boots. “Someone really needs to teach some of your neighbors parking etiquette. I didn’t realize that it was possible to park so perfectly in between two spots.”
“Oh my god, I know right?” Buck groused as he closed the door, idly listening to the deadbolt click into place while his eyes drank in the sight of Tommy’s jacket pulled taut across his shoulders.
‘God, Buck, let the man at least take off his shoes before you jump his bones–’ His inner voice which, at this moment, sounded suspiciously like Hen reminded him of his priorities as Tommy straightened up. Good boyfriend duties first, there was more than enough time for embarrassing amounts of thirsty thoughts and flirting later.
“Here, let me.” Buck reached out, tugging lightly on the collar of Tommy’s jacket and helping the man shuck it off his shoulders, thrilled to catch the sight of his boyfriend’s dimpled smile as he made his way to the dining table to carefully drape it over the back of one of the chairs.
The sound of Tommy following him across the room was the only warning that Buck got before two strong arms were curling themselves around his waist; a warm, sturdy weight that never failed to ignite the warm campfire in his chest. The culprit in question chuckled as the blonde realized he had practically melted back into the embrace.
“What’re you laughing at?” Buck questioned with no real accusation in his voice, carefully spinning around so that he could look at Tommy rather than stare out the window at the sun as it made its descent toward the horizon. He found himself hooking his right arm around his boyfriend’s neck while his left hand came to rest on Tommy’s bicep as if it were second nature.
Maybe it was, honestly.
“You know, if I didn’t know better, I would say you got off shift 12 minutes ago, not twelve hours. You seem… keyed up.” Tommy quirked an eyebrow at Buck, his bright blue eyes seeming to tear through the younger man’s outer facade like paper. Usually, that would send Buck on the defense but he found none of that nerve-wracking, prickly feeling crawling up his throat this time; instead, he chuckled sheepishly and used the hand behind Tommy’s head to gesture vaguely.
“I may have had too much energy and went on a bit of a cleaning spree,” Buck explained, his voice dropping down to match Tommy’s as he waited for the other man to glance around, judge the apartment, maybe make a quip about the place needing a good spruce up or something.
But of course, this was Tommy. If there was one thing Buck could count on Tommy for, the man could surprise him with even the smallest of acts.
“Your place is cleaner than like 95% of men in their thirties, Evan– how did you even manage to find eight hours worth of stuff to clean in here?” Tommy was looking right at him, his undivided attention pinned on Buck as his eyes hopped from point to point on his face, as if he were trying to solve a puzzle.
“I also went to the store, grabbed some groceries, a few different options for dinner if you haven’t already eaten which– shit, I should have asked you earlier! I can always just whip something up quick for myself later or if you aren’t feeling my cooking we could do takeou– mmh!” Tommy had apparently picked up on the easiest way to get Buck to stop running his mouth a mile a minute, as one second he was dividing his attention between the brunette’s amused expression and the fridge to his left, and the next he was instinctively closing his eyes as Tommy’s big palm curled around his jaw and he became suitably distracted by the feeling of slightly chapped lips pressed against his.
Buck genuinely couldn’t think of anything more enjoyable than this: being wrapped up in an embrace with his gorgeous, considerate, unfairly competent boyfriend, losing the seemingly constant edge of anxiety and stress that he carried around like a set of weights upon his shoulders under the more pressing weight of Tommy’s gentle yet insistent lips upon his, the scrape of stubble and the smell of aftershave like catnip to him.
Idly, Buck wondered what it was like for Tommy. Was he just as content being in Buck’s space? As easily lost in the simple act of being close and melting into each other with a familiarity that the blonde knew couldn’t just be his imagination. There was deep curiosity inside himself that urged him to beg Tommy for a glimpse inside his mind, to promise he’d listen to every word if the older man would let him. But even that voice was overpowered by the pure single-mindedness that kissing Tommy brought out in him.
Eventually, they pulled apart, although they didn’t go far, barely a few inches separating their faces as Tommy spoke, his eyes glinting in a way that Buck was finding hard to ignore.
“I don’t think I know of anyone else on the face of the planet that could work a twenty-four hour shift, clean his entire apartment, come up with and go grocery shopping for multiple meals, and still manage to be as energetic as you are, Evan. It’s equally impressive as it is mildly concerning.” Tommy ran his thumb across Buck’s cheek, tracing the bone beneath his stubbly skin with a reverence that had his earlier flush returning with a vengeance. “What’s your secret? Or is that just how you’ve always been?”
“I’ve gone a mile a minute since I was born, according to Maddie.” Buck laughed softly, his right hand coming up to idly scrape his fingernails through the short hair at the nape of Tommy’s neck as he continued, his voice taking on a softer edge: “Well, I mean… knowing you’d be here may have given me a pretty sizable boost as well, if I’m honest.”
For a moment, the silence between them made it feel like they were on pause, time going by around them while they stood still. Buck waited with bated breath, somehow nervous he had somehow messed up the moment by being too honest, or maybe he had shown his hand too early. And then, like the sun breaking through the clouds on an overcast day, Tommy smiled and the prettiest shade of pink spread from the tips of his ears to the apples of his cheeks. Buck couldn’t help it as his mouth split into a grin at the sight.
“You didn’t– Evan, you really didn’t have to do that for me. You just got off of a hectic shift and probably needed a nap more than the loft needed a deep clean.” Tommy tilted his head, taking his eyes off Buck for a few seconds to scan over the apartment loosely before returning his gaze to him. “I promise you that I don’t mind some dust or clutter or even an unmade bed.”
Buck gasped dramatically, lifting his hand off Tommy’s bicep to clutch his imaginary pearls, his commitment to the bit trumping his need to soak in his boyfriend’s proximity. “Tommy Kinard, if you think I’d ever let such a handsome guest in my home without making the bed, you must have a horrible impression of me and my hosting standards!” Buck wasn’t sure where the pompous attitude came from, in all honesty– maybe he had been watching too many of Maddie’s dramas.
Tommy barked out a laugh that had Buck melting on the inside before seemingly pulling his composure back into place, fixing the other man with a faux-serious look that, if Buck didn’t know better, he would have thought it was real.
“Evan Buckley, I know you would never willingly leave your bed unmade, you keep quite the tight ship around here. I was simply stating that even if you were a hoarder, I would still come over as often as I could manage.” The implied “for you” at the end of the sentence made Buck silently curse his light complexion as he was sure that he was probably redder than the 118’s engines.
A quiet laugh made its way out of Buck’s mouth as he dropped his hand back to Tommy’s arm: “Yeah, I don’t see myself becoming a hoarder any time soon– I have enough stuff scattered around here as it is!”
Tommy silently raised an eyebrow at him. Before he could even make the comment Buck knew was coming, the younger man surged forward to place a firm kiss on his boyfriend’s mouth, giving him a taste of his own medicine for once. This kiss broke off quicker as Buck pulled back to grumble playfully against Tommy’s jawline.
“If you even mention the C word in this house I am not cooking dinner, do you hear me, mister?”
“... Evan, you’re not cooking dinner either way– you’ve been awake for the better part of thirty-six hours– I am making you something quick and getting you to bed before you drop.” Tommy’s words baffled Buck. Weren’t they supposed to be having date night? Of course Buck would cook! He was not that tired!
“I did not just clean and buy groceries and make you drive all the way out here for you to spend a few minutes cooking and then leave like a maid!!” Buck said incredulously, eyebrows furrowed as he searched Tommy’s face for clues as to what was going through his head.
“Ev–” Tommy started to speak, Buck cutting him off, the metaphorical boulder inside his brain having already picked up too much speed to stop now.
“No, Tommy! Today has been long, sure– I did only get to sleep for maybe thirty minutes in between the 8-car pile up and the campers who nearly started a brush fire. Twice. But I have been really excited about getting to see you all day! Hell–”
“Evan–”
“I was so amped that I decided to buy a different beer than usual and called Eddie in a panic because I somehow don’t know what kind of beer you like which is kind of a problem we need to solve, by the way–”
“You didn’t have to–”
“-and now you’re here and I’m going to cook you whatever you want and we’re gonna watch some random documentary and cuddle and have a full night together while our days off line up, okay?!”
“Evan, I’m not going to leave!” Tommy’s hands went from Buck’s waist to cupping his jaw, gentle but insistent. “Now, will you breathe for a second, babe? You’re gonna go blue at this rate.” It took a second for Buck to process Tommy’s words, realizing his boyfriend was right. Taking a second to drop his head down on the other’s broad shoulder and taking a couple of deep breaths, the brunette’s hands came to rub up and down his back in a soothing manner.
“...’M sorry, didn’t mean to get so heated with you.” Buck apologized quietly, his voice muffled by the fabric of Tommy’s tee shirt. He couldn’t bring himself to pull away just yet, the weight of Tommy’s arms keeping him grounded.
“You’re good, I should have realized that being vague would set you into a spiral, especially with how little sleep you’re running on right now.” Tommy sighed softly, his tone just as apologetic as Buck’s, which didn’t seem right in the former’s mind but, like a wave a mile high, his little outburst had seemingly sapped the last of the energy from his body. He quickly realized he'd have to pick his fights carefully here before he embarrassed himself even further.
“You’re… not leaving?” Buck just had to clarify that. If he was getting shipped off to bed, did that mean Tommy planned on just… hanging around? Watching some TV? Reading a book? Taking embarrassing photos of him while he slept to send to Chimney and Eddie?
“No.” The way Tommy said that simple word made his knees weak; it was so unbelievably tender, like the idea in and of itself physically pained the pilot to even think about. Beneath Buck's forehead, Tommy’s muscles stiffened up. The sleepy blonde made an involuntary, confused noise in the back of his throat.
“I mean, unless you want me to…?” Oh.
Oh. Tommy thought Buck wanted to kick him out? That was so absurd that he couldn’t help but start laughing, hard enough that he could hear the chair behind him jostling against the table, creating a horrible, cacophonous sound with the echo of his near-delirious laughter.
After a few moments, Tommy joined in; it took them well over a minute to wind down, Buck’s head pressed against the side of his boyfriend’s neck and said boyfriend’s arms squeezing around his waist once again.
“I just went on a whole ramble about you not leaving, do I need to get a sign above the door that says ‘Tommy Kinard is ALWAYS Welcome’ on it or something?” Buck said, his tone teasing as he peeled himself away from Tommy’s neck, blinking his eyes a couple of times to try and discreetly fight the impending drowsiness seeping deep into his bones.
“I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed, but what about when I mention the couch?” Buck gasped dramatically, clumsily trying to cover Tommy’s mouth with his hand but missing. Badly. He somehow completely missed his boyfriend’s mouth, instead slapping his hand haphazardly on Tommy’s chin. After staring at his hand for a few seconds, Buck concluded that okay, maybe he was losing his fight against exhaustion a bit more than he thought.
“Alright, I think maybe dinner can wait– you are beyond exhausted.” Tommy echoed his sentiment sternly, dropping one of his arms from around Buck and using the other to nudge at the small of his back, pushing him towards the stairs.
Buck went willingly, mental flashes of him losing consciousness and cracking his skull open on the stairs or maybe the dining table acting as a great motivator for him to accept Tommy’s help getting to bed. Somewhere in the myriad of thoughts swirling around his exhausted mind, guilt was starting to seep into the forefront of his mind.
Even with Tommy’s reassurances and the soft pressure of his hand on Buck’s back, steadying him on their short trip up the stairs, his brain was sure that he’d fucked up. Tommy nudged him towards the bathroom as they reached the top of the stairs. He shuffled his way inside, listening to his mind idly pondering what Frank would have to say about this sudden bowling ball of guilt sitting in his stomach.
As the door clicked shut behind Buck, he could hear Tommy moving outside, the sound of fabric rustling, and the quiet humming of a tune that the blonde couldn’t place. Tragically, turning on the tap drowned out that heart-achingly domestic ambiance. The knowledge of what was waiting for him on the other side of the thin door spurred him through brushing his teeth and quickly washing his face. After some consideration, he stripped off the dark jeans he had tugged on earlier in favor of his boxers and the maroon tee shirt.
Stepping back into his bedroom, Buck was drawn immediately to the sight of his bed: the gray duvet had one corner flipped up from where it once was neatly tucked in. Not only that, but the water glass that habitually sat on his bedside table had been refilled, and the lights on the bottom floor of his loft were all turned off, leaving the small lamps on either end of his bed as the only light source in the apartment. Buck could already feel his lips curling up in a smile, touched by Tommy’s attention to detail and care no matter how many times the other man unknowingly put it on display.
Speaking of Tommy, Buck’s eyes drifted over to the man who stood by the short bookshelf mainly used as a TV stand. The pilot held a small stuffed animal, a cat Buck could have picked out from a lineup any day.
"That's probably one of my favorite things in this place." Buck walked over, bumping his shoulder against Tommy's as he came to stand side by side with his boyfriend.
"It was a gift from a little girl. Angel. She uh... She got trapped in a housefire way back when I first started with the LAFD," Tommy tilted his head to glance at Buck, eyes sparkling with interest so pure that the sleepy man couldn't help but continue, struggling to return his gaze to the toy as he spoke.
"She was this tiny little kid standing like right next to the engine, crying real bad and holding this little stuffed animal with a death grip. I stopped to make sure she wasn't injured and turned out, the poor kid's cat was still inside. So I ran in, the house was pretty much in shambles at that point... But I had this feeling, I guess," Buck could almost feel the flames of the home's hallways as he spoke, recalling Bobby's voice yelling at him through the comms under the sound of beams buckling and the fire roaring beside him.
"I ran into the room at the end of the hall and 'lo and behold, there was this giant tabby cat under the kid's bed." Buck made a vague gesture with his hands, recalling the fluffy beast he almost mistook as a winter jacket that got shoved under the bed. Beside him, Tommy huffed out a surprised laugh, looking between the blonde and the tiny tabby toy with amusement.
"I know, I know, I was just as surprised! I thought I was looking for a little kitten, maybe, or a smaller cat at least. It had to be some sorta Maine Coon or a Siberian or something-- It was the size of a backpack!" Buck couldn't help but laugh as well, dropping his head onto Tommy's shoulder as he did so, relishing in his ability to be the one leaning rather than the one being leaned on for a moment. It was nice, he had to admit.
"When I brought the cat out to her, she turned to me with the biggest, teariest smile and traded me. The toy for the cat. I tried to give it back but she said that she didn't need it, I'd given her the real thing back." Buck finished, his eyes suspiciously wet. Thankfully, Tommy didn't call him out on it. Instead, the older man carefully put the stuffed toy back in its place on the shelf and turned to face him, an indescribably soft expression on his face.
"I think you have the biggest heart of anyone I've met, Evan." The sincerity in Tommy's voice nearly bowled Buck over with its intensity. The part of Buck that always yearned to be seen and cared for was practically vibrating beneath his skin, fighting with the part of him that wanted to brush off Tommy's kindness, make some ill-placed joke, or perhaps a half-hearted denial.
"I- I'm not... I was just doing my job--" Buck croaked out, his hand coming up to rub at the back of his neck.
"Yeah, maybe at first. Checking in on her, making sure she wasn't hurt both definitely fall under doing your job," Tommy tugged on Buck's free hand, guiding him towards the side of the bed with the duvet flipped over, his clear eyes staying locked on Buck's even as he walked his way backward towards the bed.
"But you ran into a burning building alone, searching for a cat that you figured would be too small to see easily through the smoke, you hauled that cat out of there, alive." When Tommy nudged Buck onto the bed, he obliged, crawling into the bed with one hand still clutching Tommy's as if the man would disappear without it. Thankfully, it seemed Tommy felt the same way, following right behind him.
After a bit of shuffling and adjusting, including Tommy fighting with his jeans while Buck fought with the sheets he somehow already had tangled around his legs, they quickly found a comfortable balance. Buck was pretty much on top of Tommy, his head tucked under his boyfriend's stubble-covered chin. Their legs intertwined as Buck curled in towards Tommy, who was lying on his back with his arm around Buck's shoulders.
The rumble of Tommy's voice right beneath his ear was soft and soothing. Buck idly wondered if, in another life, Tommy had been a cat, the soft rumbling reminding his sleep-addled mind of a cat's purr. "You know how I really know you weren't just doing your job, Ev?" Buck craned his head back, his answering "No, how?" muffled against the column of Tommy's neck.
"When that girl gave you her stuffed animal, you kept it. You didn't leave it at the firehouse, or throw it out, or donate it. You put it right there in front of your bed, and stood there to tell me the story even though you're running on fumes. That's not the job, Evan," Tommy turned his head, pressing his lips to the crown of Buck's head.
“B’careful there, Tommy… You keep saying stuff like that and I’ll start to think you like me.” Buck mumbled, his voice coming out far softer than he had expected (and maybe a bit slurred but who could blame him, he was more comfortable lying there with his boyfriend than he had been since he couldn’t even remember when).
“I’m not dating you cause I feel ‘meh’ towards you, Ev– you know that, right?” Tommy’s hand squeezed Buck’s shoulder gently, a comforting gesture for the both of them.
“Mmhm… Don’t worry, Hen can’t tease you for liking me if I like you more.” If Buck was asked later where this comment came from, he’d blame it on being on the verge of falling asleep, and spew some facts about how exhaustion for over 18 can cause one to act similarly to someone at the legal limit for alcohol consumption. Secretly, Buck knew it was his way of letting Tommy know that he was in it, ready and willing to be teased and seen as a love-struck fool when it came to his boyfriend because… well, who wouldn’t?!
Buck didn’t stay awake long enough to hear Tommy’s response or to feel the other man carefully shift him onto his side so that he could flip off the lights and crawl right back into bed behind him, curling almost protectively around the firefighter with a grin hidden in the dark of the room as Buck practically burrowed himself back into the embrace with a tender, sleepy sound that could melt the ice caps.
As Buck and Tommy had both suspected would happen, the blonde-haired man slept for what would have been record-breaking amounts of time if it weren’t for the many injury-induced recovery comas that he’d been subject to over his time as an LAFD firefighter. Buck only woke once during the night, his eyes fluttering open to the faint light of the slowly lightening sky illuminating the loft. For a moment, the man didn’t register the body plastered to his back as anything more than an oddly moved pillow until the dull thump-thump-thump of Tommy’s heartbeat kickstarted his sleepy brain. It couldn’t have been later than three or four in the morning and Buck knew he should just close his eyes and let sleep drag him back under but the call of his boyfriend curled against him was more appealing.
Despite his many relationships and flings, Buck couldn’t recall ever being the little spoon. Once, when he and Taylor’s relationship was still new, he woke up to go on shift and found her arm thrown over his hip but that was nothing like this. From head to toe, he was engulfed by Tommy, his broad chest pressed flush to Buck’s back and one of his thighs slotting perfectly between his own. It was warm and all-encompassing and oddly, Buck felt protected in a way he couldn’t quite put words to.
It was almost like Tommy had found a way to bundle Buck up without making him feel trapped or suffocated, simply supported and cared for and loved in a way he had only ever felt in brief intangible moments in the past. Carefully, as to not disturb his lovely boyfriend, Buck rolled over, gazing up at Tommy through half-closed eyes, admiring him for so long it probably would have been creepy if it weren’t for the fact that it was mostly dark out and Tommy was peacefully dozing, unaware of his gaze.
After what could have been a second or an hour, Tommy’s arms squeezed around Buck’s waist, pulling him impossibly closer and Buck closed his eyes, humming happily as he slowly let himself fall back asleep, mentally ingraining the image of Tommy with his messy hair lit by the cool morning light into his brain, the serenity flooding his system like a drug he would never get enough of.
(Eventually, Buck woke up at nearly eleven in the morning on top of Tommy to the muted sound of the man in question typing something on his phone with one hand while the other rubbed circles on his lower back. He was confused as to how he got there, considering they had both been on their sides, but according to his boyfriend, Buck had crawled entirely on top of Tommy in protest after the man got up to use the bathroom. Although Tommy insisted it had been “frankly adorable, ten out of ten would get crushed by you anytime,” Buck rolled out of bed with a blush down to his chest, locking himself in the bathroom in his embarrassment at the cost of hearing Tommy’s teasing laughter but not being able to see his gorgeous smile.)

Yeah I didn’t see this article. I still stand by what I said though. They’re not going to spoil it if Buddie is in the works and I can’t see any way it’s not. It’d be really dumb for them to have Eddie so integrated into Buck’s bi storyline and then be like why are you making you making it about Buddie ??? We never said Buddie was gonna happen. 😒😒😒 They’ve also been putting Ryan and Oliver front and center for most of the interviews and promo stuff this season. Ryan has talked about how much closer Buck and Eddie get and it’s clearly not just him talking about supporting a friend coming out.
This is not to say bi Buck can’t exist without Buddie but this is not how you do a storyline like this when you know a significant portion of your fanbase are so passionate about a ship.
Buck and Tommy could have still had a surprise kiss without Eddie being in the ep at all. And like I said in my post why have Buck and Tommy talking about Eddie? Literally right before they kissed. Why have Eddie crash Buck and Tommy’s first date?
No I still stand by my post and what I saw in the ep and what the actors and promo stuff has been showing and that’s that this has to be eventually leading to Buddie. If it’s not it’s a really cruel way to treat loyal fans and a sure way to lose viewers on the new network and I just don’t think abc would let them take this risk with Buck’s bi storyline if they were going to do it so carelessly. They just renewed for season 8 what’s a guarantee to get people to come back to watch in season 8? Buddie.
I just don’t believe for one minute that now that the show has finally gone down the route of making Buck bi they’d pass up on what could be one of the most popular queer couples. Plus no matter what they do with Tommy and Buck or anyone else and Buck no one else has 6 years of history on the show with Buck like Eddie. There’s so much the show can build on from that.
Also I’ve talked about this in other posts I’ve made but 911 is sorely lacking a couple the audience can route for. What I mean is a will they/won’t they get together couple. The last time 911 really had one of those was with Maddie and Chim. If they want people to tune in they need to make it worthwhile because most people aren’t even watching live tv these days. What is going to get people to watch every week? Waiting to find out if Buck and Eddie are finally going to get together.
Really though I think we just need to take all interviews with a grain of salt for right now and let the storyline play out. If Buddie is in the works like I believe it is they’re going to be very tight lipped about how they talk about it so the storyline doesn’t get spoiled. They’re also still in the middle of working on eps so some things may have been changed. I’m confident by the end of season 7 we’ll have some feelings realizations and things set up for canon Buddie in season 8.
instagram
Since I'm still seeing posts where people are saying Buck wanted Tommy's attention in 7x04 I thought I would do a break down of the episode. Cause the entire thing was about how Buck wanted Eddie's attention full stop and I'm baffled that some of you missed that it wasn't exactly subtle:
This is going to be a long post with gifs so I'll put it under the cut
First there was the mansion call. (I know some might say this scene is different because it was meant to be a part of episode 7x05. Doesn't matter they changed the order so it's canon for this ep and so Buck's behavior in it is relevant).
Buck trying to get Eddie's attention with the random facts he knows and also because he knows no one listens and appreciates that stuff about him like Eddie:
Buck glued to Eddie's side the whole call.
Buck also not showing any interest in the ladies from the Bachelor while he's standing with Eddie.
---
Then you have the scene at the hanger:
Here's the thing I do believe Buck has an attraction to Tommy and is interested in him but the main draw Buck has to Tommy is because of the multiple similarities Tommy has to Eddie. The show was practically putting a neon sign above Eddie and Tommy multiple times saying that Tommy is a mirror of Eddie.
I'd also like to point out that maybe it was just me but Tommy didn't seem all that interested in Buck throughout this scene or really any scene until the last one. Now yeah he could have been being cautious because he didn't know if Buck was into guys but I honestly got the vibe he was into Eddie. I can't help but wonder if he was trying to get with Eddie and then maybe in Vegas Eddie told him he was straight (not that he is) or maybe Eddie just told him he has a beard girlfriend. No one can convince me otherwise that Tommy doesn't think there's something between Eddie and Buck. I 100% believe all Eddie did was talk about Buck when they hung out and Buck did the same thing right up until Tommy kissed him. That whole "my attention" line was very telling. Tommy you're gonna get your heart broken but I get it dude Buck is hot.
So anyway Buck goes for a tour and unsurprisingly he brings up Eddie before Eddie ever shows up. And while yeah it's him responding to Tommy saying he was in the army it just feels like a partner moment. Like yeah no way my boyfriend was in the army. Buck talking about Eddie is as second nature as someone talking about their spouse. They're such an integrated part of their life that they don't even realize how much they talk about each other. It'll be interesting to see if Buck does the same thing when he's on his date with Tommy too.
Then Eddie shows up and if you watch Buck the whole scene once Eddie arrives he's almost exclusively watching Eddie.
(watching Eddie walk away)
Here's the difference btw in one of the few times he looks at tommy (when Tommy speaks) after Eddie show up 👇
Then at the end you have Buck make this face:
Which I think isn't so much about feeling left out as it is seeing how happy Eddie is and knowing he's not the one making him happy. Although I don't think Buck is consciously processing all of that right now but I definitely think that was a big part of it.
I think in this whole scene what's going on in Buck's head is this: 1. surprise that Eddie is there because he didn't expect him 2. Why didn't Eddie tell me he was hanging out with Tommy (I usually know everything going on with Eddie). 3. Trying to understand what he's feeling when he sees Eddie and Tommy together. 4. Feeling confused about everything. 5. Jealous that Eddie is going off with someone who isn't him but not really understanding that's what it is.
I get some people might watch that scene and say well Buck was essentially asking Tommy out on a date and then Eddie showed up an took off with him so he must be jealous that Eddie is getting to spend time with Tommy. Buck obviously has an attraction to Tommy but the person he really wants and wants to spend time with is Eddie this is further highlighted by the next scene we see them in when Buck keeps getting more and more upset over hearing about how Eddie is doing things he enjoys with someone who isn't Buck. But also in how Buck acted while at the at the hanger. He wasn't focused on Tommy. I mean have you ever been crushing on someone when they're in the room it's like no one else is. The person who Buck couldn't take his eyes off of was Eddie.
-------
Next we have the sewer rescue scene with Ravi. (We really need more Ravi and Buddie scenes btw I love them together) We have Buddie working together as per usual. Highlighting like in the Bachelor scene how well they work together which they always do.
You have Buck telling the story from the pilot about when he saved that baby in the wall and Eddie smiling fondly like a typical spouse who has heard that story a million times.
While they're working Buck is spending the whole call trying to find out what Eddie was up to when he went to Vegas.
Buck is asking a million questions which implies that Eddie hasn't told him yet about the trip. This goes back to the helicopter scene where Buck didn't know Eddie was spending time with Tommy and is really starting to feel left out. Again this isn't really about Tommy or Buck feeling like he's missing out on spending time with Tommy it's Buck feeling like he's missing out on Eddie's life.
Buck calls out the similarities between Eddie and Tommy
Although he's still clueless that this is what is primarily causing him to be drawn to Tommy. More than anything this was for the audience to again say in case you didn't catch it by now Tommy is like Eddie. They want to keep reminding us of this before the kiss so we know Buck is going to date someone who is like his best friend.
Also want to point out that while Buck is talking about Tommy to Eddie the camera shakes at points so we feel Buck's nerves. He's nervous to hear what Eddie has to say about Tommy.
Also the whole conversation about "naked men pummeling each other" and Eddie saying that he was wrestling with Tommy. Like I'm sorry but not one ounce of that convo felt heterosexual.
I've seen someone say that Buck's jealousy must have been about Tommy because Buck isn't even interested in the things Eddie and Tommy were doing together like Muay Thai and basketball etc but you can hear/see Buck getting more and more hurt as he and Eddie talk because Eddie is sharing parts of himself with someone else.
I feel like there's multiple reasons why Eddie and Buck haven't been spending as much time together. I mean yeah Eddie made a new friend but for the longest time it's been BuckandEddie like peas in a pod in work and outside. But I think the end of season six played a role in some of that changing
At the end of last season they were both dating someone else and they had both gone through some major trauma with Buck literally dying for 3+ minutes. We know that seriously affected Buck but the show didn't touch on how I know it must have affected Eddie. If you watch the scene (from 7x01) where Buck talks to Chris and we see Eddie's reaction in the hall when Chris talks about how everyone leaves. I can't help but think Buck's brush with death made Eddie think of Shannon and how scared he is to lose another person he loves or worse put Chris through that.
Not to mention what Buck said in the cemetery how he felt like Natalia this woman he had known for less than a minute saw him better than anyone. I feel like all of that combined made Eddie distance himself a little even if he wasn't doing it totally consciously.
There's also the fact that I think Buck has kind of taken Eddie for granted a little. We find out later in the ep that Eddie had asked Buck to play basketball with him many times but he'd always turned him down. I also got the impression in this ep that Eddie has all these hobbies that he was sharing with Tommy when he would have rather been doing them with Buck (he was so excited when Buck showed up on the basketball court).
And I'm not saying Buck doesn't love Eddie or hasn't tried hard to be there for Eddie and Chris over the years but it's something that happens in relationships sometimes. You think the person is always going to be there and you get distracted with life stuff.
This combined with things Oliver has been saying in interviews about how Buck is going to have to put in work for his next relationship. How Buck has always gotten whatever person he wanted mostly and I can't help but wonder if that's going to play a role in how Buddie is developed. Is Buck going to have to prove to Eddie how much he means to him?
This part of the scene if no other really lets you know it's about Eddie and not Tommy. We can see how Buck is looking at Eddie when he says I do I really do and we feel all these intense emotions from him more than would make sense for the brief amount of time he's known Tommy. He's clearly thinking of when he met Eddie.
These are really just the baby steps of Buck recognizing how deeply he feels for Eddie. Because right here he's thinking that he thought their connection and place in each other's lives was special and unique to every one else they knew but then he hears Eddie talk like that and thinks maybe he was the only one who felt that way. Maybe he's easily replaced in Eddie's life.
----
So Buck goes to talk about his feelings on everything with Maddie. Tbh I wasn't thrilled with how they did the Buck and Maddie scenes in this ep. Though I do think we're going to get more of a heart to heart with the two of them in future eps when Buck officially comes out. I just feel like Buck needed someone to really listen to him and Maddie was a little dismissive both times he talked to her. I also really want someone to try to ask Buck about his feelings for Eddie.
It's kind of crazy to me how no one in the 118 has ever really brought up the fact of how close Buck and Eddie are. Maddie has said the whole "boy crush" thing and that elf mistook them for being married but what I mean is you know the 118 sees how they are. Look at when Eddie was shot. It was assumed automatically that Buck was going to be the one to talk to Chris because they knew how close Buck and Eddie are and how they're essentially raising Chris together. This is how people talk about someone's spouse not just their friend.
Back to the convo with Maddie
Buck is complaining to Maddie about Eddie and Tommy. His feelings in that scene don't come across like he's unaware of some attraction he has to Tommy or like he's trying to hide feelings for him. He comes across as hurt, and frustrated, and confused that this new person has moved in on his place in Eddie and Chris' life.
Again I'm not saying Buck doesn't have an attraction to Tommy but I do think Tommy is a distraction more than anything. I think Buck is focusing on him rather than looking at the entire situation. Instead of asking himself why does it matter if your friend has a new friend? Why does it matter if Eddie spends time with new people? Why does it matter if Eddie shares parts of himself with someone else parts he might not be sharing with you?
----
Then of course there's the gym scene at the firehouse. I've seen people say Buck thought Eddie was on the phone with Tommy. And maybe he did. But you expect me to believe he was upset and jealous over Tommy and because Eddie was getting to talk to him and his way of dealing with that was to try and get Eddie's attention through lifting weights and pointing his dick at him. o_o
Literally sitting up in the middle of lifting weights so he can see if Eddie is looking over at him.
Nothing about this scene is telling the audience that Buck is thinking about Tommy. It's saying he wants Eddie's attention.
This scene is actually very similar to what happened at the hanger
Buck saw Eddie looking incredibly happy and he wasn't the one making him happy. Eddie also wasn't sharing what's been going on in his life with Buck. Buck felt shut out and ignored from the one person who he's been the closet with for years. Even when they've had girlfriends it's clear Buck and Eddie have been close and connected in ways they never were with anyone else. Buck is scared he's losing that.
If the show wanted us to believe that the scene was about Buck and Tommy and Buck's growing attraction to Tommy there are so many different things they could have done to highlight that. Have Tommy ask Eddie about Buck (if that even was who Eddie was talking to) and have Eddie tell Buck he was talking to Tommy maybe direct a question from Tommy to Buck. They also at the least could have said that's who Eddie was talking to and they didn't even do that. They could have had Buck ask Eddie hey is that Tommy? But they didn't because the scene wasn't really about Tommy it's about Buck's feelings for Eddie that he still hasn't fully come to terms with yet.
Buck buys a basketball literally has it sent to the firehouse so Eddie can see him with it and hopefully ask him to go play basketball with him. Because remember he's feeling left out of Eddie's life. It's not like he asked Tommy to play basketball or asks Eddie if he can go with him to the court in hopes of seeing Tommy. No he wants Eddie to invite him. He wants to know Eddie wants him there.
Watch how Buck acts even when he's opening the basketball. He's trying to do it quickly and even while he's doing that he's looking over to Eddie to try and get his attention.
Also someone on twitter pointed out that in season 3 it was shown in Buck's loft that he already had a ball. My head canon is that he still has that ball and the lunatic that he is he just bought a whole new one and had it sent to the firehouse so eddie would see him with it. 🤦♀️
---
Next is the infamous basketball court scene where I knew the minute I heard "basketball beard" and playing with the boys and other Top Gun references that canon bi Buck was a go.
Similar to the hanger scene Buck's attention is almost exclusively on Eddie through the whole scene.
Oh I'd also like to point out that both times that Eddie was with Tommy in this ep he was wearing sunglasses particularly when the two of them were side by side. I feel like it's the shows way of saying that Buck is not seeing Eddie right now and he's not connecting with his true feelings for Eddie.
I know Oliver is good at basketball but I couldn't help but laugh when they included that shot of him spinning the ball. Like we're meant to believe Buck doesn't play how did he learn to do that 🤦♀️
If the basketball scene had really been about Buck wanting Tommy's attention or being jealous that Eddie was getting Tommy's attention Buck wouldn't have been spending the entire time trying to get Eddie's attention. He also would have been competing with Eddie for Tommy's attention and he wasn't he was trying to get Eddie to notice him because he felt like all Eddie was doing was focusing on Tommy.
You can watch Buck get progressively more upset through the game as he feels like Eddie is competing against him and partnering with someone else when for so long that's been his role on and off the court. It's been Buddie against the world.
Also there's a moment when Buck runs into Tommy but the show never plays it as some kind of moment between the two. I mean they had more of a moment on the boat after the cruise ship when Buck patted Tommy's shoulder. But like according to some this is supposed to be the episode Buck is all into Tommy but that's just not present most of the episode.
Buck immediately knows he's fucked up after Eddie is hurt. I've seen people say why wasn't he running to help him but I've been in a similar situation like that where you're so stunned that you did something to cause someone you cared about to be hurt you can't even move.
Then as soon as Buck wants to try and help Tommy swoops in and says he'll take Eddie to the hospital. Taking care of Eddie has been Buck's job for a long long time. Think about how he saved Eddie during the shooting and took care of him and Chris. Also he took care of them during Eddie's mental health crisis. Buck is feeling like Eddie doesn't need him anymore.
Here's another thing I want to bring up about the basketball scene. Like I keep saying people have said that a lot of Buck's motivations in this ep were about Tommy. I'm sorry but you don't have those kind of strong emotions over someone you just met. Even if his emotions were that he had a crush on Tommy and felt like Eddie was taking all Tommy's time away. If Buck behaved that way from a simple crush on a guy he barely knew I would think he'd lost his mind. No he reacted the way he did because all of these feelings (that he's just now scratching the surface of dealing with) are connected to Eddie someone who means everything to him.
Remember too that Oliver said in his interviews that Buck doesn't even know why he's jealous or who or what it's about. Which is why I think even by the end of the episode when Buck thinks he's figured some things out there's still a lot he's missing.
----
The second Maddie scene
I definitely agree with what others have said that unfortunately Maddie's words here only served to further confuse Buck. What he was feeling was not just being left out and excluded from this friend but mostly jealous over a man he loves being all excited to spend so much time with someone else. Buck was jealous and scared of someone taking his place in Eddie's life and doesn't really know how to process that.
Oh and for people who say he wasn't jealous over Eddie he literally says he was to Maddie.
Buck admits he was trying to get Eddie's attention which like I said in the basketball scene you can see because Eddie is all Buck is focused on.
----------
Then of course we have the end scene with Buck and Tommy.
First we get the opening shot where Buck answers the door. And before he even answers we the audience are made to think it's going to be Eddie and made to think Buck also thinks it's going to be Eddie. Because all of the tension that's been between them in the ep hasn't been resolved and Buck hasn't talked about how he's been feeling to Eddie at all. So we're left waiting for that resolution.
Instead however when Buck opens the door it's Tommy
One thing I didn't mention earlier was that the show has made it a point to have Tommy only call Buck Evan. I've seen a number of theories people have for why this is, personally I think it's a reminder to the audience that Tommy for all his similarities isn't Eddie. Like they give us all these signs that say look Eddie and Tommy are so much the same but everytime you hear Tommy say Evan so casually like that you remember they're different.
Eddie who knows the real Buck only ever calls him that and it's only on the rare serious occasion does he use Buck's real name. Maddie is similar. It's like when Ana called Eddie Edmundo. These people have an idea of who Buck and Eddie are but they they don't know all the little intricate pieces that's something Buck and Eddie only have with one another.
So Buck is smiling and laughing (somewhat out of embarrassment for how he behaved on the basketball court) but watch his body language at even the mention of someone replacing him in Eddie's life:
I find it extremely foreshadowing of what's to come with Buddie that the show chose to have Tommy and Buck spend most of the time before their first kiss even right down to the seconds before it talking about Eddie and even talked about him afterwards. I mean if you didn't want your audience shipping a ship or giving them hope it was going to happen would you do that?
Buck not only talks about Eddie before the kiss he talks about how great he is and brings up memories of their past. Almost like someone talking about an ex they're still in love with. Like you're trying to move on but you can't help what your heart wants.
Like I said above I fully believe that when Tommy said "my attention" he knew that Buck is all about Eddie. Buck's response being "I guess" is even more telling because it shows his confusion. I definitely think that when Buck and Tommy break up (or however far they get in their dating) that we'll get some kind of confirmation that Tommy always knew Buck and Eddie were in love.
I think a lot of the stuff Buck talks about in this scene is him trying in the moment to make sense of the confusing way he's been feeling. I do think he's attracted to and likes Tommy but there is also a whole host of other feelings he has that really were the main motivating factors into why he acted the way he did in this episode.
The last time Buck was with someone and there was an I love you it was with Taylor and it was like Buck just went along in that relationship because he felt like he was supposed to. Buck and Eddie are similar in that way. They have this amazing love and bond with one another but there's a reason besides the fact that they're both guys that they keep avoiding really confronting their feelings. They're scared. They're scared to loose what they have. They're scared to change it. They're scared of fucking it up like they believe they have their past relationships. Scared of so many things. So they just kind of side step it at every turn.
The show mentioning Eddie right before the scene ends is one of the biggest indicators that this is all leading to Buddie.
If the episode was really just a misdirect where Buck was really into Tommy all along they wouldn't have made the last scene so Eddie heavy and especially not the last bit of dialogue about Eddie. The last few lines are what you're leaving the audience with until the next episode and the words they left us with are about Eddie (and Buck) so we're meant to focus on them.
If you read all this thank you ❤️. This post took me forever (which would be why it's getting posted a full week after the ep >_< ) please reblog if you like it. Can't wait for the ep tonight.

A Proper Apology
(I am honestly really happy that Abby gets her happy ending but she should have actually apologized properly. I hope it doesn't come across as Abby being a horrible person because she's not. But sometimes nice people whether they mean to or not do shitty things that hurt people. So I wrote this instead of sleeping. lol. If you like this please reblog.)
Tagging @datleggy
After leaving Buck at the park Abby felt out of sorts.
It had gone well, she'd thanked him for rescuing her fiancé, Sam, she'd explained why she'd let her and Buck's relationship and he'd told Abby that he was happy for her. So why did she feel so off?
Maybe it was because despite being back in L.A she hadn't considered to contact Carla.
Yes that was it. It would be nice to see her old friend, Abby couldn't remember the last time they'd actually spoken.
Mind made up, Abby scrolled down the contact list on her phone in search of Carla's number and physically blanched at the date of the last message.
Abby hadn't realised it had been so long.
Abby quickly sent of a text, asking if Carla was busy and if not would she like to meet up at that cafe they used to go to before Abby had left.
Fifteen minutes later Carla replied, saying she was surprised to hear Abby was in LA and yes it would be nice to meet up today but that the café Abby had suggested had shut down ages ago but that there was a nice enough one that Carla now visited and the instructions to get there.
Abby smiled and quickly phoned Sam to tell him she'd be a little while longer and that she loved him.
The café turned out not to be to far from where Abby and Sam where staying so she decided to walk. After all Abby had lived in LA for years, surely it had changed all that much on the time she was aboard.
Seeing Carla face to face for the first time in nearly three years was almost strange. But at least it was nowhere near as shocking as seeing Buck at the train wreckage a couple of days prior.
Carla was sitting at a table outside and waved Abby over when she spotted her long absentee friend.
Reaching the table Abby smiled brightly and readily accepted the hug Carla offered.
"I've missed you."
Carla pulled away, "I missed you too."
They sat and a waiter scurried over to take their orders.
Carla ordered a mocha capachino, Abby a white coffee.
"So, what are you doing back in LA. I have to say it was a surprise."
Carla smiled but her words sounded kinda, Abby wasn't sure, sad maybe.
"Well my fiance and I where -"
"Wait you're engaged? Since when?"
Abby frowned, she'd posted about the engagement on her Facebook page months ago.
She told Carla as much.
"Abby sweetie we're not friends on have Facebook anymore."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize. I guess I should have called."
Carla waves a hand dismissively.
"So you where telling me about being back in LA."
Abby nodded and began explaining about the train derailment and how she and Sam where staying at a hotel for the moment.
Oh honey I'm so glad you're okay. I can't believe it, I heard about it on the news. That must have been terrifying."
"It was so scary. And I lost Sam for awhile and I had no way of knowing if he was alive and then Buck showed up and that was so strange but he helped save Sam and we're good.
"You're good, you and Buck? After everything?" Carla sounded surprised.
"Well I spoke to him earlier today."
"And how was that?"
Abby sighed she hadn't really wanted to talk about Buck.
"Well I told him about Sam and his kids and how while I was traveling I realized that if I came back to LA I was just going to go back to being the Abby that was always looking after everyone else but me and that I didn't want to lose myself again to that. So I decided not to come back."
Carla leaned back on her chair, her usually bright and friendly faced closed off.
"That's it?"
"What do you mean?" Abby recoiled at Carla's tone.
"Abby that boy waited for you for months, he looked after your apartment, all your things, even your mail and you just stopped talking to him. Honey, he came to me near tears wondering if he should give up on you or not."
Carla took a large sip of her drink.
"Please tell me you at least apologized."
"I, I explained. I -" Abby stutters.
"Explained what? That you didn't want to face up to the fact you didnt want a relationship with him anymore."
Carla shook her head in disbelief. She stood up and motions for a waiter to come to take her bill.
"Abby you ghosted him and it broke his heart. He deserves a proper apology. I'm happy for you Abby I am but I love that boy too and he's been through far to much this past year not to get the closure he needs from you."
Carla quickly pays for her drink, tells Abby to try and stay in touch and gives her another tight hug before leaving.
A lump settles in Abby's throat that doesn't go away even when she gets back to the hotel.
Sam smiles up at her from where he's sitting on the bed. The girls are in the room attached to theirs, the TV playing loudly.
Sam's face is bruised and scratched but he's alive and whole and Abby is grateful to Buck for once again being there when she needed him.
Sitting down next to her fiancé Sam asks how her afternoon went and Abby tells him about meeting Buck and then Carla. And how uneasy it had made her feel.
Sam smile drops and he take her hand between his own.
"I think your friend Carla is right. I didn't realize that was how you'd broken up with you last boyfriend. To be honest that's a pretty shitty thing to do."
He wiped away the tears that spill from Abby's eyes at his admission.
Hey, I'm not mad. And from what you've told me this Buck guy has been very understanding. But Abby I don't want you to regret never making things right between you." Sam wraps his arms around her and Abby cries into his shoulder.
That night Abby lies awake and goes over the memories of her and Buck's relationship of the conversation and how hurt Buck had been over the way she'd spoken to him. She thought over and over about what she had said and after talking with Carla Abby's excuse of being worried about losing herself to Buck sounded hollow and almost cruel.
Buck was the one who hadn't run away when he'd found out about Abby's mom, unlike Tommy. He'd been patient and understanding whenever Abby had to cancel or cut dates short. He had shied away from offering help when Abby's mom had a bad day.
She'd even told him the night she decided to leave to Ireland that Buck was the person who had helped her to start to find herself when she'd been drowing in her life as a first responder and carer to a dying mother.
He'd made her feel special and important and Abby had just thrown it all back in his face.
The realisation of this sits like lead in her stomach. Abby turns to look at Sam and watches the man she loves sleep. A man who would most likely be dead if Buck hadn't risked his life to save.
Abby knows that Sam and Carla were right, she needed to truly make amends with Buck.
Early the next morning Abby walks to the 118 firehouse and uses the time to thing over what she needs to say. The station doesn't look any different from the last time she'd been here, but so much has changed.
As she waits several cars pull up and when she looks up she sees Buck walking towards the station entrance bumping shoulders with another man. As they get close Abby recognises him as the firefighter she'd first spoken to the night of the accident.
"Abby?"
She shuffles her feet, " Hi buck."
The other firefighter claps Buck on the shoulder
"I'll tell cap you'll be a minute."
Bucks smiles after him as he walks away "Thanks Eddie."
Abby watches Eddie leave before turning back to Buck, she tries to smile but it comes out as an awkward grimace.
"Buck I," she paused, "I'm so sorry. Yesterday I should have apologized for how I treated you instead of making excuses I see that now. And I apologize for ghosting you, for leading you on when I knew I was never going to come back to you. It was wrong and I'm so sorry that I hurt you. I truly am. And maybe one day we could be friends again."
Buck sighs deeply, he curls into himself slightly and the change in posture makes him look oddly small.
"Abby I told you that I'm happy for you. And I meant it, I'm happy you've found a family and someone to love. And part of me I would like to be your friend." Buck tells her, voice quiet but sincere.
He shakes his head and straightens up. Standing tall Buck smiles that brilliant smile that still makes Abby swoon a little inside.
"But you know what Abby? You took me for granted and yesterday made me realize just how much. I loved you and I waited for you. But eventually I was done being your ghost and I've moved on too. And I'm happy without you. I've got a job that I love and I have a family full of amazing people who love me and I'm happy."
Buck's eyes a red and wet with tears and Abby can feel herself crying as well.
For a moment they stand face to face like they had done before Abby walked into the airport for her flight to Dublin so long ago.
Then Buck looks over his shoulder into the station and back again. He wiped a hand over his face and shrugs.
"I better go, my shift's already started."
It's a pretty clear dismissal and one Abby takes without complaint.
"Goodbye Abby Clark."
"Goodbye Evan Buckley."
And with that he heads inside without a backwards glance.
Several months later a week before Christmas Abby gets a card in the mail.
On the front is a picture of Buck and his friend Eddie, between them is a little boy with curly hair and bright blue glasses. Buck has a hand on the boys shoulder, a ring on his finger.
Inside (with large wobbly letters that have clearly written by a child) the card reads, 'Merry Christmas from the Buckley-Diaz family!'
And underneath in much smaller writing,is a mobile number that despite everything Abby never deleted and a single worded question, 'friends?'

Milkshakes and fries
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Henderson!reader
Synopsis: Y/N and Steve take Dustin to the snow ball and get to know each other while they wait to pick him up. The two have a heart to heart over milkshakes and fries, will the two ever be more than just Henderson and Harrington?
Word count: 2140
Warnings: Swearing, there’s some but I don’t think I made Dustin swear enough. Oops.
“Dusty!” you call to your little brother, who is getting dressed for the snow ball. “Harrington is here!”
“Give me a goddamn minute!” he hollers back.
“Language!” mom joins in on the yelling.
“Dumb ass,” you laugh quietly as he walks into the kitchen. “But don’t you look handsome,” you smile down at him and push a rogue curl out of his face.
“Can you ride with?” he looks up at you, there's a vulnerability in his voice that you’ve never heard before. His eyes are huge and giving you the puppy dog look, he’s trying to use humor to hide his nerves.
“King Steve is taking you,” you frown. “Why would you want little old me getting in the way of your bromance?”
“Because you’re my big sister,” he admits quietly. “Plus I want a girl’s opinion.”
Every part of you wanted to say no, to just send him off with Harrington so you could change into pajamas and watch TV with your mother. But you also heard the bad advice that Steve gave him to ignore Max and be borderline rude to her.
“Fine,” you sigh, grabbing your coat that's draped over the back of one of the kitchen chairs.
“Thank you,” he cheers throwing his arms around your midsection.
“Mom, I’m taking Dustin to the dance,” you inform her as you walk through the living room to get to the front door.
“I thought that Harrington boy was taking him,” she frowns at you, from her seat on the couch.
“He is,” you sigh and slip your coat on before zipping it up.
“I asked her to go with for the ride,” Dustin walks up behind you. “She’ll probably go do something with Steve until it's time to pick me up.”
“I never agreed to that,” you hiss at him.
“You just did,” he grins grabbing your hand and pulling you towards the door. “Bye mom!” he calls over his shoulder.
“Henderson, Henderson number two,” Steve greets the two of you as you head towards his car.
Dustin shoves you the passenger's seat door, as he heads to the back of the car. You begrudgingly take the seat next to Steve “the hair” Harrington.
“Which one of us is Henderson number two?” you try to break the silence a few minutes into the ride.
“Dustin,” Steve takes one hand off of the wheel to run it through his hair. “He is the younger one,” he adds with a slight shrug.
“That’s bullshit!” Dustin calls from the back.
“Now now Dusty, watch your language,” you mimic your mom. Steve laughs at your imitation as Dustin flips you the bird. “Love you too little bro,” you laugh.
“Shit, shit, shit,” Dustin whispers to himself as Steve pulls up in front of the middle school.
“Hey,” you say softly, turning to face Dustin. “You’ll be a little heart-breaker in there. You look handsome, and you’re the sweetest guy I know. Once you get passed all of the swearing, that is.”
He smiles back at you, but you can practically hear him chanting shit in his head. “You have to say that,” he finally breaks the silence. “You’re my sister.”
“I don’t have to do anything Dusty, even if we’re related. I’m just telling you the truth.”
“So remember when you get in there,” Steve joins the conversation.
“Pretend I don’t care,” Dustin finishes.
“You don’t care,” Steve shakes his head.
“I don’t care,” Dustin repeats.
“There ya go, you’re learning my friend,” Steve smiles at him. “You’re learning.”
“Don’t listen to him,” you cut in.
“That’s great advice!” Steve defends.
“That’s terrible advice!” you squint your eyes at the driver. “Just be confident Dusty.”
Dustin leans forward, ignoring your arguing with Steve, adjusting the rear view mirror so he can check his hair and face.
“Hey,” Steve whines since Dustin is messing with the angle of the mirror. “You look great. Listen to your sister and me, we’re practically adults. We know this stuff by now. Now, you’re going to go in there, look like a million bucks, and you’re gonna slay em dead.”
“Like a lion,” Dustin agrees, before purring.
“Yeah, don’t do that,” Steve cringes slightly.
“C’mon (Y/N/N), back me up,” Dustin looks at you.
“Sorry kiddo,” you give him a slight smile. “I agree with Harrington for once.”
“Okay,” Dustin sighs. He gives the two of you one last look before heading into the dance. You both watch as he walks in and hands his ticket to Mr. Clarke.
“So what do you want to do now?” Steve asks, driving away.
“You can drop me off at home, I don’t want to impose on King Steve’s time,” you look down and twiddle your fingers.
“Or we can go get something to eat,” it almost sounds like there’s a hopeful lift to Steve’s voice. “I could really go for a milkshake.”
“Milkshakes sound good,” you agree quietly.
--
“I’ll have a chocolate milkshake and an order of fries please,” you smile up at the waiter.
“I’ll have the exact same,” Steve tell him. As the waiter walks away your booth is once again plagued in awkward silence. “So what do you want to do after graduation?” he asks.
“I’m not really sure,” you finally admit out-loud, it was eating away at you whenever your mom would talk about grades and graduation. “I always planned on going away to school, moving away from this town. But with everything that’s happened these past two years, there’s no way I can leave Dustin here. I’ll probably just get a job at the arcade or something. Save up enough money to move out eventually, or wait for some guy to notice me and we can start our nuclear family.”
“I’m sure Dustin would understand if you left,” Steve leans forward, and gently grabs your hand. “You clearly have so much love for him, but you need to do the things that you want to.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” you laugh humorlessly. “You, you’re set for life Harrington. You have the house, the money, any girl you could ever want-”
“They’re all interested in Billy now. Or Jonathan,” he sighs and looks at his hands.
“The point is, you have the luxury to be able to go off and find yourself, I don’t.”
“Money isn’t everything Henderson,” Steve’s brows furrow as he looks at you.
“Obviously not, I’m happy with next to none,” you you match his look. “But it does help in the long run. Plus you don’t have a little brother you would be abandoning.”
Before Steve can respond the waiter comes back with two milkshakes and a giant plate of fries. You thank him and immediately take a sip of your drink. The waiter winks at you before retreating to behind the diner counter. You miss the frown and glare Steve sends the man.
“What did happen between you two?” you sober up immediately and Steve chokes on his shake. “You don’t have to answer that! I was out of line-”
“So what about you?” you ask before biting into a fry. “What does post high school life look for King Steve?”
“Ya know, find a girl and start our very own nuclear family,” the two of you start to laugh. “Honestly? I have no idea. I was prepared to follow Nancy wherever she wanted to go, but we see how that turned out.”
“No, no, it’s fine,” he gives you a small smile. “Nancy and I were never really a good fit, especially because a part of her hated me because she blamed me for Barb.”
”But that’s not fair,” you frown at him. Dustin had filled you in and told you that Barb was sucked into the upside down through Steve’s pool. “You never wanted any of that to happen.”
“And,” Steve continues. “I let Tommy H. and Carol say some pretty bad things about both her and Jonathan, I don’t blame her for choosing him.”
“You should have stopped your friends, but you aren’t a complete asshole. You deserve to be happy too,” you dip a fry into your milkshake.
“So what about you?” Steve questions, shifting in his seat.
“What about me?” your brows furrow.
“Tell me about your love life woes,” he grins cheekily.
“Uh,” you play with the hem of your shirt and stare down at the shiny tabletop. “There’s not much to say, I don’t really have people interested in me.”
“That’s bull,” he jaw drops a little and his eyes slightly widen.
“Tommy H. and Carol used to spread rumors about me, but you already knew that. They said terrible things about my mom and how she was raising Dusty and me alone. They made fun of how I dressed, and the way I look. They even went as far as saying horrible things about Dustin,” your eyes start to water at the memories of their cruel words. Words that occasionally haunt your dreams, as stupid and weak as that may sound.
“I never knew it went that far,” Steve’s voice softens, as he reaches over to squeeze your hand that's once again sitting on the table. You pull your hand away from him and shrink back into the shiny vinyl seat.
“But you still knew they made fun of me, and you just watched,” you frown at Steve. “That’s just as bad as being the bully Harrington. I’m really glad that you have this strange friendship with Dustin. He needs an older guy to look up to, so don’t screw that up.”
“He’s a good kid,” Steve smiles at you. “He’s taught me quite a bit in the short time that I’ve known him. He’ll be a way better guy than I was in high school. And (Y/N), I’m sorry for everything that Tommy H. and Carol did to you. I should have stopped them, I just never had the guts.”
“Thanks Harrington, that actually means a lot.” you softly smile at him.
--
The rest of your time at the diner went by quickly as the two of you joked and told stories from your childhood. Maybe Harrington wasn’t as bad as you assumed he was. He was actually a total dork, and kind of nice.
Before you knew it, you were back in his car and speeding to the middle school to pick Dustin up. You were laughing at some lame joke that Steve had just told you as Dustin slips into the back.
“I see you two had a good time,” Dustin smiles, looking between the two teenagers in the front.
“Harrington took me to get milkshakes and fries, so it wasn’t completely horrendous,” you grin like an idiot.
“You liked my jokes, just admit it,” Steve grins back at you.
“They were terrible,” you start laughing.
“They weren’t that bad,” Steve murmurs as he starts to drive.
“So Dusty,” you turn to face your little brother. “How was the dance?”
“I got to dance with Nancy!” a huge grin splits his face. Dustin has had the biggest crush on Nancy Wheeler for years now. However, you can’t bring yourself to be too excited for him, because of the man driving the car. You turn to face Steve nervously, you expect to see a clenched jaw and a white knuckled grip on the wheel. But what you see shocks you, Steve is leaning back in his seat and he lets out a little laugh.
“Well I’m sure it was great practice for prom,” Steve grins at Dustin through the rearview mirror.
“Steve, you should take (Y/N) to prom,” Dustin smirks.
“What?” you choke on your spit.
“It’ll be fun,” Dustin wiggles his eyebrows at you.
“I’m not even going,” your eyebrows furrow as you stare at Dustin.
“Why the fuck not?” he matches your frown.
“First of all,” you give him a disapproving look. “I have no one to go with, and you can’t force Steve-”
“Steve huh?” Dustin’s eyes twinkle in humor at the change from Harrington to Steve.
“Am I really that bad?” Steve turns to face you as he pulls into your driveway, there’s hurt written across his features.
“No!” you insist. “I just don’t want you to be forced to go with me.”
“So you’re saying that if I asked you would say yes?”
“No, probably not-” Steve cuts you off.
“Because you hate me?” his frown deepens.
“I don’t hate you!” your voice starts to rise out of nerves. “I would totally go with you, but-”
“So it’s a date,” Steve shoots you a goofy grin.
“What just happened?” you wonder as Dustin laughs from the back. Steve grabs your hand and places a gentle kiss on it, before winking at you.
“I just got a date with a beautiful and intelligent girl,” he grins from ear to ear.

Kiss 8 for Trixie x Tommy? (That’s next on my to-read list and I’m hyped!)
omg yes thank you so much!! and thank you for the prompts i should be posting the others tonight :-) as a warning this prompt ended up being nsfw so please keep that in mind! i’m not doing a taglist for this one because of that fact also.
8. a seductive kiss
Something Tommy puts together fairly early on in his relationship with Trixie is that, for whatever reason, being in danger makes her exceptionally turned on. It’s odd enough—it’s worse when he realizes, though, that seeing Trixie wanting gets him going, because it’s not exactly the most convenient for him to be half-hard and shooting out the window at two of Sabini’s goons while Trixie floors his Bugatti down the road.
“They’re gaining—Trix!”
“How the bloody hell do you expect me to make the car go faster? We’re almost at eighty and I don’t control physics!”
A bullet flies through the rear window, shattering it, and Trixie jumps, before deciding very suddenly to swerve to the right onto a intersecting road. The traffic is heavier now, but she makes quick work of weaving through the traffic like she was born for this. Hell, maybe she was. She’d done nothing but surprise Tommy since the day they met.
Pulling his body back through the window, he presses his back flat against the seat and catches his breath. Trixie makes a half-hearted attempt to crank up his window while veering sharply between lanes, but she turns again, the light flashing red as soon as she’s rounded the corner, and pulls very suddenly into a spot on the side of the road. Taking her signal, Tommy crouches over in his chair, and a moment later, the Sabini car flies past them.
“They’re gone?” Trixie asks.
“For now,” Tommy says, but reloads his revolver nonetheless.
She pulls his hand away from the gun for a moment, dragging him over to her side of the car and kissing him with the force of a good punch to the face, all teeth and whining and hands sliding up the back of his neck. With the gunfire slowed, he realizes that the car is mostly quiet, the sound of their messy kissing and hushed breaths all he can hear. There’s her mouth on his mouth, then on his jaw, then her hand on his neck, and then her body miraculously moves across the console of the car to settle in his lap.
Tommy fumbles with the seat adjustment lever, yanking too hard and sending the two of them flying flat back. Trixie’s rucking up her dress around her hips, finding his hand and guiding it towards her, and Tommy half registers how fucking insane it is to fuck like this, in a parked car on a busy street, even if the rainfall is blurring any view into the car, but the other half of his brain is too focused on finding a rhythm that makes her shiver, and, well, she’s a sight like this, faltering her usually careful movements, grinding down on his fingers, hissing and biting down on his bottom lip to keep from making a sound.
He likes to watch her like this—falling apart and cursing his name, the way she gets mean. You like that? he’ll ask. If she does, she’ll scowl and spit out a curt Fuck you, Tommy, all the while bucking her hips faster. She’s mean, she’s mean and selfish and only gets meaner the closer she gets to the edge. “You’re gonna get me killed one day,” she hisses, and Tommy curls his fingers inside her. “And I’m going to come back as a ghost to throttle you, I swear to—“
Like always, she finishes quietly, biting her own lip and straining as her rhythm loses balance. He keeps up a relentless pace, finger-fucking her until she slaps his hand away and collapses onto his chest. Tommy likes to watch Trixie writhe and moan and beg and curse, but he also likes to watch her repossess herself afterwards by dotting sloppy, gentle kisses along his neck and jaw like he’s the most darling thing in the world to her.
They can’t stay there—there’s business to finish and Sabinis to outrun, but she still smiles wickedly at him and kisses him flat on the mouth. Cruel of her, if he thinks about it, to kiss him like that while shimmying back over to the driver’s seat and turning the ignition back over. He doesn’t bother pointing it out, because he likes it, so Tommy lifts the seat back up straight and goes back to refilling his gun.

Adding to my previous rant.
Made the mistake of going on TikTok after Oliver’s latest interview, which I rarely do anyway. So many of those Buddie fans really are, and I hate to say this, just mean people. Yes they may not like Lou / Tommy, as there are plenty of actors / characters I may not be the biggest fan of. But I guess the difference between me and them is I would never go online to say disrespectful & hurtful things about a person I’ve never met. Just because they are in the public eye doesn’t give you the right to be cruel.
Fandoms can be really toxic places & not somewhere I want to be at the minute. Also the way they can make the most innocent comment or post into something it isn’t.
I’m so looking forward to seeing Buck & Tommy again and no one knows what is to come for them so let’s just enjoy their journey however long it may be ( I am hoping for long term though! )
So with that I really think I need a long break from the whole thing and just get back to enjoying one of my favourite shows without the drama.
Be kind
Wow long rant, oops, but I think I’m not the only person who thinks this, right?
Rant incoming.
People commenting on Lous tweet who clearly aren’t fans. I’m not saying everyone has to like him but that does not give you the right to be rude or hateful. Personally I don’t know why you wouldn’t like him, he’s just so lovely.
But who are they to hide behind a faceless profile and say these things to someone they have never met. Just because you can say something doesn’t mean you should.
And don’t get me started on certain “fans” of the show on TikTok who try and justify their comments just because they don’t like how the show is going. Oh I could go on but I’m not going to waste my time on people like that.
Be kind people, you wouldn’t put up with people saying hateful things about you, why should anyone else just cos they are on a TV show.
