How do you think the kids will look in the new season?
Not sure honestly. I was kinda thinking this new season would take place the very next year, and everyone else would have the same appearance for the most part. :p (Haven’t really thought about it though pfbt.)
#camp camp#cc roosterteeth#roosterteeth#ash answers#last night I had a little thought#that season five would either take place the very next summer#or that it would be a time skip to where max becomes Camp counselor#but then I kinda scratched that idea#because like#if they did that and none of the other campers came back#then why would they give Dolph a new design for only one episode#I dunno :p

the trickster and the sun
SYNOPSIS: kinich was fast in everything he did, but with you, he felt as if time always moved slow.
PAIRING: child of hermes!kinich x gn!child of apollo!reader
TAGLIST ! @wystiix @pneumosia @pixelcafe-network
warnings: none
word count: 749
notes: another pjo au!! i think im going to make this a mini series. this is a little smth to set up a longer oneshot i have planned for sometime in the future, tho the mc of that one will be a child of ares ;) also, this can be interpreted as platonic, it's up to u guys!
Kinich was fast.
Sometimes, he was so fast that you couldn’t keep up. Not only was he ahead of the game when it came to tricks and locks, but he was also a supersonic runner. No one in camp could ever keep up with him, not even his siblings.
He liked to leave you puzzles. Not the kind of puzzles and mind games Athena’s children would give out, but lock puzzles. He’d sneak them into your bag or pockets when you could’ve sworn it wasn’t there moments ago. You’d spend the entire afternoon figuring them out, twisting and turning the handmade puzzles and trying to break them apart.
Eventually, you’d throw your hands up in frustration and dispose of the device, stalking off to the target range to vent your anger out.
As a child of Hermes, Kinich was exceptionally playful and mischievous, but it wasn’t as obvious as it was with his siblings. His trickster side truly came to the surface through his actions and the small glint in his eyes every time he talked to you.
There was one time he had stolen your prized golden bow, gifted to you by your father, right under your nose. You had turned around for a split second, and the weapon was no longer hanging on the wall near your bed, but tucked underneath his in the Hermes cabin. You had looked high and low for it, even checking the target range to make sure you hadn’t accidentally left it there.
Clueless to his act of theft, you began to panic and wonder if your father would kill you for losing something so precious. As soon as you began to pace around and ramble about the consequences, Kinich’s guilt overcame him and he summoned the bow back from its hiding place.
The scolding he received after was greater than any other time you yelled at him for his conniving tricks. The look in your eyes moments before convinced him to never steal anything precious of yours again, for fear of seeing that same exact expression on your face.
Aside from his tricks and theatrics, Kinich was a messenger like his father. He loved to travel and take on odd jobs not only in camp but around the world too. And with his speed, he was back to camp in less than a few minutes of taking on a job. It was almost as if he had teleported there and back.
He was truly a jack of all trades, but he could never best you at archery; for that was something you were naturally skilled at as a child of Apollo. He could never best you at shining brightly like the sun, either.
In every aspect, you outshone him. Like now, when you were guiding new campers to their cabin (per your request and Chiron’s surprise).
Everyone knew you to be quite outgoing and cheerful, with a smile so blindingly bright it resembled your father’s, and an aura about you that felt warm and fuzzy on his skin– as if he was sitting in the sun.
As you spotted your best friend, you waved enthusiastically and called out to him, making a beeline for where he was standing just outside the Hephaestus cabin. With an eager voice, you introduced him to the campers.
It seemed as if there had been many newcomers recently, and with newcomers meant there would likely be new occupants to the Hermes cabin. The Hermes cabin was lively and packed all the time. He was lucky if he even got a moment of silence during the day. That, or some space.
Though, he preferred to just go elsewhere and take a moment to breathe. Like, finding you in the solace of Apollo’s cabin or heading out to the target range to watch you practice. If you were sitting on your bed reading a book, he’d flip the pages to get your attention or steal one of the highlighters in your hand. If you were practicing in the target range, he’d take your arrows and your quiver and misplace them so you’d focus on him.
Kinich was a trickster.
And oftentimes, you couldn’t keep up with his tricks, much like you could never beat him in a race. He was annoying in an endearing way, always stealing your things to gain your attention and showing off his speed in races to prove himself to you.
He was playful and witty, but above all, he was your best friend.
notes: like i said, i have another kinich wip planned but the mc will be a child of ares and im very excited to write it :D it's gonna be much longer than this one too! maybe as long as the tartag pjo au fic i wrote a bit ago, we’ll see!

HERE TO ANSWER THE PRAYER FOR LUKE REQS!!
So- Ares! Reader who’s the sister of Clarisse. And Luke is like hopelessly obsessed with her, and Clarisse like HATES him for liking her. So during a game of capture the flag… iykyk
I really don’t got any ideas past that so you have full creative freedom with this one 🙃
𝒪𝓃 𝓎ℴ𝓊𝓇 ℴ𝓌𝓃
warnings: just some making out against a tree, nothing else !
Capture the flag Day. You didn't know whether you hated or loved it. You were training with Clarisse when he came up to you.
"Hey, y/n," he spoke, leaning against a tree. His arms were folded and he watched you down the water in your bottle. You released the bottle from your mouth, giving him a small smile.
"Hey, Luke, what's up?" You asked while Clarisse side-eyed him, and just before he could answer, she opened her mouth.
"Go away, Castellan, we're busy." she spat harshly, making him smile, looking at you with a raised eyebrow. You just shrugged.
"Now!" she barked out and pointed, he held his hands up in mock defense and walked away. You looked at Clarisse and she huffed.
"You gonna do this with everyone who likes me?" you asked her, amused at the previous exchange with the boy.
"No. I just hate him." She grumbled out, pushing past you. You followed her.
"Aweeee, my little sister cares for me!" you said with a wide smile, putting your hand on her shoulder, which she shrugged off.
"Whatever."
-----
Capture the flag day. You loved it. You stood on the grass, listening to your sister shout directions at the campers. You felt eyes burning into you, causing you to look over and see none other than Luke Castellan staring at you from the other side.
He gave you a small smile, you gave him one back, he turned back to Annabeth, a light pink hue on his face.
“Y/n, are you even paying attention?” She asked you, you turning your focus back to her with an eye roll. “Yes. Go in the woods, distract any campers I see, blah blah blah.” You told her, she just huffed and turned to the rest of the campers.
Having a little sister who was also the bossiest person in camp was tiring.
You glanced around the seemingly empty forest, looking behind trees for traps or people. But you saw neither.
You were wrong.
You were thrown off guard when someone came up behind you, putting their hand over your mouth. Your eyes went wide, their hands going to your body, pinning you against a tree.
They took their hands off, releasing you and standing front of you with a grin.
Luke fucking Castellan.
“Luke?!” You spoke, voice full of shock. He shrugged, tilting his head to the side.
“Didn’t expect to see you here.”
You gave him a knowing look. You always came over here.
“Okay, maybe I did.” He held his hands up in defense, you rolled your eyes and lightly shoved the boy. “Just came to see what you were doing, damn.”
“So you’re not gonna beat me up or anything?” You asked him, slightly confused.
“Usually I would. But I wouldn’t wanna ruin your pretty face, would I?” He asked you with a small smirk. You shaking your head.
“You’re just scared.” You told him, going closer to him, he furrowed an eyebrow, looking down at you.
“Oh am I?”
“I would beat you.” You told him quietly, your faces were so close, you could feel his hot breath on the shell of your ear as he leaned in.
“Sure you would.” He replied, leaning away and looking at you, his hand went to your jaw, thumb caressing your skin.
You were tired of playing this game. You leaned in, capturing his lips in yours. It was a teeth clashing, pinning against a tree type kiss, the one where you wrapped your legs around his waist, your back against the bark of the tree as you let out quiet moans that he swallowed back up, your hand traveling his back, fisting the fabric of his shirt.
You don’t know how long you stayed kissing each other, when he finally pulled away, his lips were red and swollen, mouth slightly agape, his hair messy from your touch.
He looked like one of the Gods themselves, it made you smile, pulling him back in for more until you were interrupted by the sound of someone.
“Oh, shitttt! Alright, Luke, I see you.” Chris’s voice spoke, both of you pulling away to look at him. Next to him was Clarisse.
“What the fuck?!” She exclaimed, already stomping over to Luke. Your eyes widened and you grabbed your stuff, leaving Luke as you ran, him following you.
“Oh, come on! Don’t leave me here with her!” He shouted.
“You’re on your own, babe!” You shouted over your shoulder, watching him continue to try and follow you.

my masterlist
✧༺♡༻∞
you're running around your families new york city appartment, stressed out of your mind.
today was the night of the party you'd been planning for weeks now. your friends from the dionysus cabin were in charge of the drinks, you had convinced some of the apollo kids to take care of the music (though it didn't take much convincing) and two of your aphrodite sisters had helped you with the invites weeks prior, ensuring that no one would decline the offer. you had even gone as far as subtly 'inspiring' your father and stepmother to go on a vacation weeks in advance. everything was taken care of.
you had texted a bunch of friends from school in new york and told them to bring friends of their own, as well as inviting every camper above the age of 15. the only person you really cared about though, was percy jackson. he was the only reason you wanted to throw this party in the first place.
ever since he had come to camp five years ago, you’ve had a huge crush on him. at first, you were sure the feelings would just go away at some point, especially cause you were only 12 and also a daughter of aphrodite. you got small crushes all the time and people had crushes on you all the time, it was basically a normal part of your life. and even though you did develop other crushes throughout the years, dating a few people here and there; it was always the same thing when you came back to camp. everytime you saw percy, your heart would skip a few beats.
you weren't supposed to feel like this, you were supposed to make people feel like this.
well, it's not exactly like your mother would agree with that statement. she actually asked you about percy every single time you talked to her (which really didn't happen a lot honestly) and every single time you tried to shut her up, she'd just smirk and sigh before eventually changing the topic.
it's not like there weren't people out there who weren't as crazy about you as you were about percy, but none of them, not even your favourite ex-girlfriend, made you lose your mind as much as he did.
"y/n, you seriously gotta chill", you whip around, a hand already finding its way to your chest to shield your beating heart and find yourself looking at lilah, your best friend. she looks almost irritated as she scans your appearance for a moment before sighing and putting an arm around your shoulder protectively.
"what, i am chill. so chill, actually."
she doesn't even make an effort to respond and pulls you away from the living room until you two end up in the hallway by the frontdoor. she considers stopping for a moment, but decides to go a little further and sits down on the stairs leading upstairs, pulling you down with her.
you sit there in silence for a minute, fiddling with your fingers. your breathing uneven and your heart is beating so hard, you're scared lilah could hear it over the loud music coming from the other room.
"y/n, seriously..", lilah's tone softens as she moves her hand to stop yours from fiddling nervously. youd'd be embarassed right now, if it weren't for the fact that lilah had seen you in way more desperate states.
yeah, your desperation was extremely embarassing, but it was nothing compared to the way you'd act everytime percy came back from a quest. he'd look all sweaty and dirty to her, but to you, every quest he went on made him seem taller, more muscular, more handsome... and so on. you weren't sure if this was due to your ability to romanticize anything and everything or if there was some of your mother's magic involved... you wouldn't put it past her.
"this is the worst you've ever been, i can't even lie to you." oh. yeah, so nevermind then. "i know you're only throwing this party for him, but don't let him ruin your night. you invited him, he said he would come. he's either late or not coming, but either way you gotta stop being such a nervous wreck!"
you’d usually appreciate her honesty, but right now you wished silena was here instead. no one got through to you as well as your favourite half-sister, especially when you were inspiralling into your feelings for percy. "he said he'd come, lilah. i thought maybe... maybe i'd tell him tonight, y'know?"
she sighs. "i get it. seriously, don't underestimate my emotional involvement, i've been with you for 3 years of this 5 year hell, alright? and i think it's great you're gonna tell him tonight, but--", she stops talking at the way your eyes twitch at her words. "exactly! y/n you always say you're gonna tell him and then you chicken out!"
you drop your face into your hands and let out a desperate huff of air. wincing, you say: "i know, i know! but i really was going to today. i swear it! he seemed so excited when i invited him."
contrary to all your other guests, you had only invited percy about three weeks ago; once you were sure everything else would work out as planned. you had been almost as nervous as right now when you paced up and down your cabin, getting on your siblings nerves. it was cabin 3's turn to clean out the stables, you had made sure of that by checking the schedule give or take 200 times, and you were going to invite percy today. for sure. probably.
it's not even that you had never talked to him before, you actually kind of had been friends for about two years now, but because of your intense crush on him, you usually avoided being alone with him. it's not like you were going to attack and kiss him either (at least you were fairly sure you wouldn't do that), so you weren't really sure why you were making it so hard on yourself. and anytime you do have a conversation with him, it ends up being really nice.
percy was really funny, had some really good stories to tell and always listened when you actually build up the courage to tell some of your own stories. it was especially nice when you could share your new york experiences with one another.
"that cafe sounds really good, we should totally go there some time." percy had smiled at you after you told him about your go-to spot downtown and it was not like he had asked you out on a date or anything, but his suggestion completely wrecked any confidence you had built up until that point. you just gave him a shy nod, before turning your attention back to the campfire you were seated around.
this way you couldn't see the way percy's eyes lingered on your face.
gods, the bonfire made you look even more beautiful.
after one of your brothers had had enough of your mumbling and nervous pacing and basically threw you out of your own cabin, you were on your way to the stables. you walked fast, wanting to get there before the doubts would stop you. when you arrived, you basically stormed in, startling percy, who was talking to one of the horses.
his eyes lit up immediately when he saw you standing there, but he'd have reacted that way for everyone who gave him a break from cleaning, at leats that's what you told yourself.
"hey n/n, what are you doing here?" butterflies errupted in your stomach at the nickname that no one else really used.
"hi perce. uhm i- well i wanted to ask you something", percy ignored the funny feeling in his stomach and closed some of the distance between you.
you tried to ignore how nervous that made you and sent a shy smile his way. it helped a little when he smiled at you even harder, reassuring you a tiny bit before making everything even worse. why did he have to be so fine?
"i'm throwing this party in three weeks", he didn't say anyting yet, instead keeping his sea-green eyes on yours, waiting for you to continue. your nerves couldn't stand staring into his pretty eyes, so as you were looking down, keeping yours on the hay on the floor, you missed the way something in his face twitched at the mention of the party.
finally, he thought.
percy had heard of the party, well how couldn't he have? you had invited basically everyone, except for him. he had spent almost everyday pestering annabeth with questions about why you wouldn't want him at your party, as if she'd know and everyday she got more irritated with him.
annabeth couldn't believe how oblivious her bestfriend was. obviously you had a crush on him, everyone knew that. well, except for percy and it also wasn't like anyone ever talked about it. but still, everyone was confident that everyone had noticed the longing stares you let linger on each other.
"and— uhm i wanted to ask you.. if you maybe want to come? it's in new york so—"
"of course i'm coming, i'd love to come!" percy had answered so quickly and with such enthusiasm that it made all your anxiety disappear for a moment. your nervous smile turned into a big grin and percy couldn't help but grin back in return, relieved that you seemingly hadn't noticed the way his face heated up in embarassment at the way he was making a fool of himself.
get it together, he thought.
you agreed to stop by his table at dinner later to give him a little note with all the information he'd need and when you were done talking about the party, you stayed. percy had continued cleaning out the stables. you would’ve helped, but he had insisted that you sit down and just talk to him instead. normally, this would’ve killed your nerves, but you didn’t even think twice about agreeing to spend more one on one time with him.
and if that entire interaction hadn't been as positive as it was, you wouldn't be as hurt as you were now when percy was over 2 hours later than your little pink note had said.
"maybe he was just being friendly." you mumble and look at lilah, who is already rolling her eyes and throwing her head back. "deadass right now, i am 100% he likes you, y/n. he's always looking at you like a fool in love, basically same way you look at him honestly."
you don't believe a single word coming out of her mouth, although it is kind of insane to hear her say something that's not full on rude about percy. she always denies having anything against percy and claims her slightly negative attitude is just a natural consequence of witnessing him letting you (beautiful, perfect woman) pine after him (demigod of liquids and not the fun kind).
totally her words, not yours.
although you're pretty sure she is as fond of percy jackson as her father is of peter johnson...
lilah's words do finally start to sink in though. well, not the part about percy having a crush on you too, but basically everything else. there's no reason you, a child of aphrodite, should have to be pouting all by yourself, waiting for a guy to like you back when you could be having fun at your own party instead. in theory. you should forget about percy, at least for one night.
"let's party!" you stand up, doubt visible on your face before you mask it with a big fake grin. lilah looks at you uncertain whether to entertain this new attitude of yours. "lilah, c'mon! there's no reason i should be sober at my own party, i put you in charge of drinks for a reason."
you wink at her before slowly walking off towards the living room, giving her no other choice than to follow you into the crowd. although still a little unsure at first, lilah doesn't stop you from taking your mind off percy in whatever way you deem effective.
she mixes you both some mean cocktails and then some more when you finish them almost immediately. it takes you no more than 30 minutes until you're finally dancing and having fun with your best friend, just like you were supposed to.
it's hard to pay attention to the room due to the amount of alcohol you've already drunk in such a short amount of time and even though it definitely helped you take your mind off things, you still can't help but look for percy everytime one song fades into the next.
another hour passes, still no sign of percy, but at this point you're too drunk to care. you're having fun with your friends, dancing with whoever's closest to you at the moment. lilah left a few songs ago to go dance with one of your friends from school, you could sometimes make out their shape on the other end of the room and you were pretty sure you saw one of her hands burried in the other girls dark curls earlier. go lilah!
from the corner of your eye, you can barely see the front door open at the end of the hallway. when you turn your head, focussing hard to make the room stop moving, you see a blonde girl pull a dark haired boy into the room by his hand. they're laughing and then you recognize the two people entering your home.
percy is finally here. and he's holding annabeth's hand.
your heart drops. way worse than it ever has before. your body comes to a full stop as you can't help but watch the pair. she turns around to whisper something in his ear, he laughs and responds a moment later so that he's kind of leaning into her from behind, their hands still intertwined. he looks so handsome, but the sight of him taking annabeths jacket off her ruins everything for you.
of course they're dating, you should have known.
you're so in trance that you don't notice annabeth pointing you out to percy, who immediately lets go of her hand to come over to you. he even thanks annabeth innocently for forcing him into the apartment, after he had spent 15 minutes debating whether he really had the courage to enter, especially when he had told himself tonight would be the night he'd confess his feelings to you.
she just waves him off, glad to actually have made it here after having spent an entire two hours at his place helping him with his outfit and hair. she had felt like a camper in cabin 10, only for him to go with blue jeans and a black shirt.
when you finally snap out of it, realizing that percy is pushing through your other guests in order to get to you, you immediately start looking for a way out. you can feel your eyes sting, there goes any hope. there's no way you can stand stupid host-guest smalltalk with percy right now. you're pretty confident that you'd burst into tears the second he'd thank you for the invite.
so you run.
you try your hardest to escape the dancing crowd, or rather percy, and don't look back. but he catches up quickly, his size making it easier for him to get through to you, than for you to get away from him. knowing you can't hear him over the music, he quickly grabs your wrist before you can get any further away.
you jump at the contact, turning around and pulling your arm from his grip. he smiles, until he notices your teary eyes despite the lack of good lighting.
"wha—" you can barely make out what he's saying, but you shake your head anyways. the sight of him makes it so much harder to suppress your tears, knowing you're looking at the one thing you want but will never have, apparently. percy lets you push past him and watches you leave through the remnants of the path he just created to get to you.
he doesn't move and stands there confused until you're out of sight. people all around him are dancing to the music, but he feels isolated as he's still looking the way you just left. neither the music, the strobe lights, nor the people bumbing into him pull him out of his trance, until whatever just happened finally kind of clicks and he follows you, pushing people out of his way, determined to get to you.

Us before you and me
Masterlist Luke Castellan x Hades! reader (implied, fem) Summary: Luke and the readers’ relationship before they became a couple. Luke is an absolute loser when it comes to crushes. Warning: no use of y/n, luke is a total looser author note: English is not my first language so I am sorry for any mistakes beforehand. Proofread by me and me only (T▽T) word count: 1,3k

Luke Castellan was 14 when he came to the camp, and he was sad. Not only did he just lose a friend that turned into a tree, but he had to pretend to like his dad.
Now that he was 15, his mind was somewhere else, his friends to be exact. He tried to make friends with everyone. But these two in the Hermes cabin just caught his eye. They argued all the time, it was almost unbearable, and yet they refused to sleep anywhere but next to each other. It has been a few months since they got here, and somehow their banter has extended to him.
So now that he and Chris were watching the Aphrodite girlies, Chris had dragged him out. He was talking about something Luke did not care about. He only started to pay attention when he slapped him. Luke gave him a confused look.
“You're not even looking man,” Cris says.
“Because it's creepy!” Luke argues back. It was creepy, they disguised themself as resting campers next to the Aphrodite cabin. To him, and everyone else, it looked like Cris just discovered what a woman is. Granted, they just turned 15, so he is certain that was the case. Luke couldn't bring himself to care. When he thought about girls only one face came to his mind, and he was not about to confess that to his friend.
“Don't you see them! They look good!” Chri says back.
“I like someone already.” Chris looks at him with a deadpaned look. Absolute silence. Maybe Luke really should not have said anything. According to Chris, Luke could have anyone in the camp. Even crowing him as the heartthrob of the camp. Luke tried to move on as fast as he could from this conversation, however, Chris's attention was sparked, and would not let go of the conversation.
They kept going back and forth and none of them noticed a familiar girl come their way.
“ Stop spying on the aphrodite cabin like they are some prey!” She says, effectively tearing them out of their argument.
“ Prey?? What are we? Animas?” Luke was quick to defend himself. He didn't even want to be here.
“ Not you, you raging virgin,” Chris says and gives him a side-eye. The girl just rolls her eyes.
“I'm not a virgin!” Luke's voice cracked, not something he wanted to happen while defending his honor. His eyes snap to the girl, hoping that she would believe him. But she looked like she wouldn't even believe he had hair on his head. Luke signs defeat. There is no winning in this. He just has to come to terms with the fact that his crush thinks he's a total loser.
–
When Luke turned 16 he realized he wanted to look ripped. And he wanted to get girls, well a specific one but he will not say that aloud. He will tell you he just wants to be a better hero with glory and all that. However Luke was 16, and he had no better idea than to practice in front of his crush.
He was nervous. Sweating. He couldn't tell if it was from the sword fighting or her. She was just sitting down and looking at him. His heart was beating way too fast for his liking. So he was very glad when his opponent called it quits and he could rest.
He went and sat down next to the girl. She smiled and handed him a towel and cold water. He rolled his sleeves up his shoulders to feel some of the cold air. The girl had to do a double-take at him. He could see her in the corner of his eye looking at him. He flexed his arms just a little.
“ Exposing your biceps like that? What a slut.” She says. His eyes widen for a second before he composes himself. He turns to her with a smirk on his face.
“ You like that don't you.” That stopped her in the tracks. He could practically see the clogs turn in her head.
“Maybe I do.” She says, her eyes fixated on his arms. Luke went red and looked away. He could feel her arm on him as she studied his mussels. He let her arm wander, they were seemingly in their world. Her arms slip to his chest. He looked down and then back to her.
“ I know my pecs are big but can you stop objectifying me?” The girl stopped in her tracks and looked him dead in the eyes.
“Nah.” With that, she just continued to feel him up. He just let her.
—
Luke was 17 when one of his closest friends was claimed by Hades and had to move out of the cabin into a small room above the medical storage unit. He helped her move the stuff, not that she had much but still. When he walked into the room he saw her standing with Chris, who upon seeing him gave him a smirk. Luke sat the bag down and turned around to see Crish walking out giving him a wink.
Luke turned to the girl with a confused look. She just shrugged and thanked him for bringing the bag. He could feel the tension in the air. Luke looked around the room. It wasn't big, but it was something, and first and foremost it was private. Not something he could say about his bed. He looked at the girl again. She was not sporting a black camp shirt instead of an orange one. Fitting for a Hades kid.
When his eyes got to her face his heart jumped to her throat for a bit. She was looking at him with a sheepish smile.
“So Chris said-” Right then and there he knew. He knew his friend had said something he shouldn't.
“Don't believe Chris !” He yelped and grabbed her hand. Silently he begged her to forget whatever the boy told her. She raised her eyebrows at him.
“ So you don't get a major ‘love boner’ every time you see me?” A whine leaves Luke's lips.
“Why did he have to put it like that.” He says his voice high-pitched. The girl just let out a laugh.
—
Luke was 18 when he confessed. He was 18 when she confessed back. And he was 18 when he kissed his crush of 4 years. He was 18 now lying in the Hermes cabin looking at the ceiling dreamingly. He could only remember what her hands and lips felt on him. The other 3 boys were taking none of that.
“He's a mess. Like mess mess.” Says Connor looking at his counsellor with a weird look, before turning to his brother who wore a similar expression.
“ Mess in distress but still the best dressed?” Answered Travis. He has been cursed by one of the Apollo kids to say things that rhyme but not really. It's been going on for a week now with no sign of going away.
“He's definitely not best dressed, I can tell you that.” Says Chris sitting at the foot of Luke's bed cleaning his nails.
Lukes wasn't paying them attention. He finally achieved what he wanted since 15. He could handle the teasing if it meant he could sneak into her room after calling lights out. One of the twins poked him in the ribs but he just swatted them away.
He could hear them say he was gone, but the only thing he could think about was his girlfriend.
It was a year later when he was 19 and risked everything.

Darren's Birthday Surprise
A Weight Gain Erotic Fantasy
I looked at the night sky from the cabin patio. All the party sounds (pop music, shouting, West’s unmistakable laugh) were drowned out by the sliding glass door. A shooting star dashed across the horizon.
I sighed. I knew I should go back inside. This was my birthday weekend. West organized everything for me. And yet, it says a lot that the birthday boy had been sitting out here for the last 20 minutes and none of my closest friends seemed to notice.
I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t unhappy, either, and I think that made things worse. My friends were great. West was great. Three years of dating and I had no complaints except for this constant, gnawing urge for something different, something more. If I had specific, tangible issues to be upset about, then I could end things with West and move on with my life. Being unhappy was fixable. Instead, I was just blank.
“Deep in thought?”
An old woman looked up at me from the gravel path that ran alongside our rental cabin. She was short and thin, with long, white braids and a pleasant smile. I’d never seen her before.
“Uh. Yeah. Is that obvious?”
She took my answer as permission to join me on the porch.
“It’s your birthday today, right?” She sat on the wooden railing in front of me. I was afraid she’d fall and break something, but I didn’t stop her. I was too busy wondering who she was and how she knew it was my birthday.
Then I saw the birthday balloons tied to the fence. That answered one of my questions.
“Who are you?”
“Just someone passing through.” That was an evasive answer. Creepy, too. There weren’t any other cabins for miles, and she didn’t look like a camper in that loose white dress.
“May I ask you a question now?”
“Sure.” This conversation was seriously weirding me out, but I wasn’t scared. This strange woman wasn’t going to hurt me. I knew that on, like, an internal level. In my bones. Whoever she was, she meant well.
“Are you happy with your life?”
“No,” I immediately answered. Somehow, I knew that I couldn’t lie to her.
“What would you need to become happy?”
“I don’t know.”
“A new boyfriend?”
I flinched. She had just made things very personal. I should’ve told her it was none of her business, and yet, I couldn’t. Because of curiosity, I guess. Because I wanted to hear her out. And I know this sounds crazy, but because part of me believed that this weird old lady had the power to help me.
“I love my boyfriend. I don’t want to lose him. I just wish…”
She leaned closer. “Yes?”
“I just want something more.”
West was perfect. He was charming and he had a slim, muscular body to die for. His personality meshed with mine. Our sex life was good (not great), and I knew he loved me. I loved him, too. I just... I don't know. Something was off.
“You want more from West,” she repeated.
“Yes,” I said, not realizing until after the word came out that she knew my boyfriend’s name. I shivered. “How did you—?”
“Happy birthday, Darren.”
She placed her hands on her knees and toppled backward off the porch railing.
I jumped up and ran to the edge, expecting to see her lying on the ground six feet below the porch. Why would she do that? She didn’t accidentally fall. She chose to push herself backward, with a smile on her face as she toppled.
But when I looked over the edge, all I saw was grass and gravel. The woman was gone.
As someone who did not believe in ghosts or supernatural anything, I refused to accept that this woman had just disappeared. I raced down the porch steps and searched everywhere. No woman. No footprints. No signs that she was ever there aside from the chills sliding along the back of my neck.
I had nothing left to do besides head back inside. I didn’t plan to tell my friends what had happened, but I’d definitely tell West. We didn’t keep secrets from each other.
***
The party was exactly the same. Alex, Levi, and Jamie were dancing by the fireplace, plastic cups in their hands. John and Lisa were sloppily making out in the corner. Benny and his cousins were at the table playing poker.
The only difference was that West was gone. When I left the party, he’d been at the poker table, too.
I walked over to Benny, who had a confident smile even though he only had a pair of threes. (Horrible bluffer.) “Hey, um, have you seen West?”
He looked up at me like I was crazy. “Where do you think he is?”
Benny’s cousins both laughed. What did they know that I didn’t?
“West?” I shouted.
Everyone stared at me, as if I was a complete idiot for asking where my boyfriend was.
“In here!” West shouted from the kitchen. It sounded like his mouth was full.
I walked through the party, ignoring all the looks, and pushed through the kitchen door.
“What the fuck?”
West was sitting on the other side of the high counter, so I only saw his shoulders and head. His face was completely covered in chocolate. My birthday cake sat in front of him, absolutely torn apart. He’d eaten almost all of it (with his hands, apparently). Why would he do that?
“Hey, babe!” he said, chewing on another handful. “Almost done!”
“Almost done with my cake? Why? We’re supposed to serve that thing in an hour!”
He looked confused. Still chewing, though. I think he still had clumps of cake in his mouth, because his cheeks were bulging. “But you told me…”
“I told you to eat all of my birthday cake? Why would I do that?”
“Darren, your cake’s still in the fridge.”
No it wasn’t. I knew what make cake looked like. We picked it out together. Dark chocolate with coconut/chocolate icing. I was really looking forward to it, too. And now, it was all over his face.
Not believing him, I rushed to the fridge and looked inside. “Oh.”
He was right. My cake was still in there. Untouched.
“Told ya. Trust me, this is the special one you got me with the extra layers. Delicious, by the way.” He scooped up one last handful and jabbed it into his mouth.
This didn’t make any damn sense. “Why would I buy you a matching cake for my birthday and ask you to eat it all yourself?”
“Because you’re a bad influence,” he answered, licking his fingers. “I’m just glad you didn’t make me do it in front of our friends like last year.”
“What are you talking about?”
“What are you talking about, Darren?” Then he smiled. “Oh, I get it. Role-play.” He made his voice sound high-pitched and weak. “Oh, Darren. Don’t be mad at me. I didn’t mean to eat your cake. I just can’t control my hungry little tummy.”
I had enough of this nonsense. Either he was playing a very confusing prank on me, or the weird lady outside had somehow slipped me drugs. “West, please tell me what’s going on. I’m not joking around.”
My boyfriend saw the panic on my face. “Oh, honey.” He grunted as he tried to stand up, but something was holding him down. He tried again, and with a lot of effort, he pushed himself to his feet. Then he waddled toward me, his chocolate-stained hands reaching out for a hug.
My breath caught in my throat. This wasn’t West. This was an obese stranger who had West’s face. I couldn’t see his body behind the counter, but now that he was standing, now that he was walking toward me, I saw the drooping apron, flopping tits, and squashed-together thighs of someone who outweighed West by at least 200 pounds.
This… person tried to touch me, but I jumped back.
“Darren?”
“Who are you?”
He stared. “Are you drunk? Did Benny slip you something?” He reached out to touch my face, exactly how the real West would’ve, but I pushed his hand away before he could stain me with his chocolatey fingers.
“Get away from me!” I rushed past him and raced back into the living room.
Everyone stopped what they were doing. (Except John and Lisa. They were still making out.)
“Something’s wrong with West!”
“What?” Alex said from the couch. “Did he choke on your cake?”
“He… He got fat!”
No one said anything for three frustrating seconds. They all just stared.
And then, all at once, everyone in the room burst out laughing.
“Oh! Shocking!” Benny said sarcastically.
They all thought I was joking. The poker players went back to the game. The dancers started dancing again. The only person who seemed to take this seriously was Alex. He marched over to me, his expression angry, and he slugged me in the arm.
“Jackass,” he said. “You know I worry about the guy. Don’t scare me like that.”
“I’m not. He’s… He’s huge!”
Alex shook his head. “Not cool, man.” He went back to the couch, still angry.
The kitchen door creaked open behind me, and I could hear West’s thudding footsteps. I turned around, hoping that he’d be back to normal now, but nope. He was still enormous. He’d wiped off his face and arms, though.
His shirt was still chocolate-stained. And now that he wasn’t covered in dark icing, I could see how much his face had changed. His cheeks were chubby, and his second chin was even bigger than his dad’s.
“See?” I shouted to everyone else. “Look at him.”
West grabbed my arm. “Stop. You’re acting weird.”
“Just let him rant!” Benny called across the room. “He’s just showing you off again.”
West looked me in the eyes. He knew I wasn’t joking around. He was worried about me. And while every other part of him was different, his wide, caring eyes hadn’t changed. “Come on. Let’s talk outside.”
Part of me wanted to say no. Whatever thing had taken over West, I shouldn’t trust it. I shouldn’t leave the safety of the group. But my heart told me that I’d be okay. If my boyfriend was really in there, buried under all that fat, then I knew he wouldn’t hurt me.
He led me through the front door, back onto the porch. He sat his wide ass onto the bench and I sat next to him. “Please tell me what’s wrong.”
“You’re different!” I said.
“How so?” I loved that his voice was so calming and familiar, but I hated it, too. He made me sound like a raving lunatic in comparison.
I let out a breath and forced myself to speak slowly. “When I left the cabin, you were playing poker with the guys. You were normal. And when I came back…” I didn’t know how to end that sentence.
“I was playing poker,” he said, “but before you left, you told me to go into the kitchen for my ‘cake time,’ remember? That was the last thing you said before you came out here.”
“I told you to go and eat that cake?”
“Yeah. Did you want me to wait for you? So you could watch?”
I looked away. This conversation was making me even more confused.
“I’m worried about you, Darren. How are you feeling?”
“I don’t know.”
He gently grabbed my hand and placed it on his bulging stomach. I didn’t pull away. I was too confused.
“What are you…?”
“Just rub my belly and breath, okay?”
It made no damn sense that he wanted me to rub his belly. It made even less sense that I did what he said. I slid my palm across his softness, and it felt… familiar. He shouldn’t have a belly, and I had zero experience rubbing anyone like this, but somehow, my hand recognized each curve. I felt the deep fold across his belly button, and the bulges on his sides, and the dimpled surface at the bottom of his overhang. All familiar to my fingers. It was like muscle memory.
“Are you feeling calmer now?” he asked.
I nodded.
“Always works. I’m like your big, squishy stress ball.”
I pulled away. My hand immediately missed the contact. “You’re not supposed to be fat.”
He smiled, acting supportive but still trying to figure me out. “I know. Hence all the stretchmarks. I was never supposed to get like this, but I’m so glad you did this to me.”
I did this? I made him fat?
As I looked into his round face, realization washed over me. It was that lady. She’d changed reality. She offered to help me get over my funk, and she’d granted my wish.
But what did I say exactly?
“I just want something more.”
Wow. Talk about twisting my words.
It was crazy. Freaking impossible. But I couldn’t think of another explanation. I made a wish on my birthday (under a shooting star, no less) and now my boyfriend was fat.
I had to figure out a way to get him back to normal, and the only way to do that was to get more information about this new reality.
“Um, I’m going to ask some questions. About us. Just humor me, okay? Pretend I have amnesia or something.”
“Sure.”
“Where did we meet?”
“History class. Professor Robineaux. I thought you were very cute, so I went up to you and asked for a pen.” He smiled at the memory.
“Even though you were holding a pen at the time,” I added, smiling back.
Yeah. That hadn’t changed. Right away, I knew West was the guy for me. Confident and a little goofy. I fell for him hard.
“And our first date?”
“You took me rollerblading at that retro place.” He laughed. “Can you imagine me going there now? I’d probably crush people.”
That saddened me. Yes, he was right about our first date. We had a great time. But to think he’d grown too fat to ever go back there… Poor guy. I thought about all the other things we did together. Surfing. Hiking. Mini-golf. All those activities were impossible now.
My hand was on his gut again. I’d even pulled up his shirt so I could touch him directly. My fingers were digging into his mid-belly fold. I’m not sure when I did that. Probably when I was thinking about rollerblading. I didn’t pull away this time. My hand wanted to feel him, and the warmth of his skin was calming me down.
“What about our first anniversary? Where did we go?”
“Harrison’s,” he said.
That wasn’t right. We went hiking on our anniversary and had a picnic on a mountain. I didn’t even know what Harrison’s was.
“And what did we do?” I asked.
He leaned back a little. He was really enjoying my touch. “Oh, it was so romantic. You picked out all my meals. That was the first time you fed me in public. God, it was incredible.”
Now I knew. Harrison’s was the buffet restaurant near our house. We’d driven by that place thousands of times, but we’d never gone inside. In this reality, I took him there for our anniversary? And I fed him?
I tried not to think about how bizarre this all was. I was getting close to finding some answers. Now I knew that something had changed during our first year together. That narrowed it down.
“When did you start gaining weight?”
“Your birthday, of course.”
So my 23rd birthday, just four months after we’d made things official. Exactly three years ago today.
“And tell me how you decided that you wanted this?”
“How I decided? That’s an interesting way to put it.”
“Tell me what happened.”
I waited for his answer, but all that came out was a soft whimper.
“West?”
“Sorry,” he muttered. “You know how much I like that.”
He was responding to my hand again. It had moved to the sweaty space under his overhang. I was running my fingers back and forth. I loved how warm and sticky it was down there, and I especially loved how my fingers were making him arch his back and let out tiny whimpers.
As if on autopilot, my hand went lower, sliding under his stretchy waistband. I touched the hairy lump of fat over his crotch. His fat pad.
“Oooh,” he said.
Why was I doing this? My only explanation was that in this version of reality, I touched him in very specific ways, ways that clearly turned us both on. I didn’t have memories of this life, but my hands knew exactly what to do.
I squeezed his fat pad, then explored the hot space between his crotch and his puffy thigh. Everything down there was so warm and soft. And before I knew it, my other hand joined in, going straight to his hanging moob to give it some attention.
“I… I can’t answer your… questions if you keep… Oooh.” He sounded like I was jerking him off or something. I was touching every part of him except his dick, but in this fattened form, that didn’t matter. He had so many little nooks and crannies, a thousand different pleasure zones, and my hands knew all his favorite places.
I pinched at his thigh fat, causing him to shudder so hard that his belly flopped against himself. I wasn’t going to stop touching him. I couldn’t. But I still needed him to answer my questions.
“Concentrate,” I said. “Tell me the exact moment you started gaining weight.”
“Birthday cake,” he muttered. He couldn’t even form full sentences.
I positioned my body on top of him now. I wanted to press my flat stomach against his gut. My left hand was still pleasing his moob with rapid, constant thumb-friction. My right hand was still in his pants, feeling the tip of his cock poking out of his fat. I wasn’t stroking it, just feeling that it was there.
My brain was shocked that his once-substantial member was reduced to almost nothing, but my hands expected this.
“What about the birthday cake, West?”
His eyes were clamped shut. He was trying not to moan. “You… Oh, Darren!" His moans echoed into the star-filled night.
"What about the birthday cake?" I asked again.
The bench creaked under him as he rocked his flopping body to the rhythm of my touch. The fat hanging over his sides thudded against the wood. "You... you asked me to eat it. Oooh. And I… I did.”
He was bucking his hips now. Ripples everywhere. My hand left his cock (now as big as it was going to get) but remained on his fat pad. I squeezed. And with a rhythm I must've perfected over the years, I shook his fat bulge as fast as he was bucking his hips. I didn’t realize it at first, but I was using his fat to jerk him off.
And he fucking loved it.
“Just one more question, West. You can hear me, right?”
“Darren,” he moaned.
I pressed my torso deeper into his soft middle, riding the waves. I was straddling one of his thick legs, making sure he could feel my own hardness through my shorts. I jiggled him faster. My other hand left his moob and was now holding onto his side-fat. I needed to stabilize myself a little.
“One last question. On my birthday, when this all started, why did I ask you to eat that cake?”
His breath was catching. I recognized that sound. He was ready to explode.
I slowed down just a little, then sped up one last time.
“You… You… never told me whyyyyyy.”
And he was gone. Just by jiggling his fat, he came in his pants.
I still didn’t have an answer. In this reality, I’d simply decided for some unknown reason that I wanted him to eat for me. That’s it. And now, his body was a heaping mound of rolls. I pulled my hand out of his sticky pants, but rather than stand up, I let my whole body sink into him. My head against his chest, I could hear his heart pounding and his lungs struggle for air.
When we came out here, I just expected to ask him questions. This was… a surprise. My body had taken control. I didn’t understand the new world I was living in, but I finally felt like I’d be happy here.
West stroked my hair. “Are you feeling better now? Less confused?”
“Yeah.” Suddenly, I was aware of the party music thumping inside the cabin. “Do you think our friends heard you?”
“Probably,” he said casually. “But that’s like, what, the fourth time you’ve jiggle-jerked me today? They’re used to it.”
I laughed. “Fourth time?”
I no longer felt any sadness over what he’d become. So what if he couldn’t rollerblade anymore? It seemed like we had plenty of better ways to spend our time together.
I buried my face in his soft chest, feeling nothing but happiness. That oppressive blank feeling I used to have was gone now. My wish had definitely been granted. I wanted more, and I got it. So much more.
“Well?” West asked.
“Well what?”
“It’s your birthday, after all. And I can feel how hard you are right now. Don’t you wanna…?”
“Yes!” I said instantly. I climbed off him and unbuttoned my shorts.
He looked at me funny. “Aren’t you gonna get my milkshake first? We can’t fold-fuck without it.”
“Oh. Um, yeah.” I didn’t know exactly what he meant, but I think I could make an educated guess. And it sounded fucking amazing.
I rebuttoned my shorts, fully aware that my friends would see my hard-on, but oh well. In this reality, where West and I were constantly going at it, they probably wouldn’t care. I gave West’s belly a quick kiss and headed back inside.
***
No one seemed to notice me enter. West was right. All his moaning was like white noise to them. I walked through the crowd and entered the kitchen.
I assumed his milkshake was in the fridge. I looked on every shelf, but I couldn’t find anything resembling a milkshake. All we had were alcohol bottles and my birthday cake.
“Darren?”
I spun around. My heart sank.
West was standing behind me, but it was the old West, the skinny West. “What are you looking for?” He glanced down at my crotch. “And why are you…?”
This was the real world again. I could feel it.
Everything I’d just experienced was… What? A dream? A hallucination?
A vision of the future?
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
I pulled him against me and kissed him. He was surprised, but he gave into it. My hands felt his narrow hips, his muscular chest, his solid back. Then I let him go.
“Wow. What’s gotten into you?”
“West, since it’s my birthday, can you do something for me?”
He shrugged. “Of course. Anything.”
I pulled my chocolate cake out of the fridge and placed it on the table. “Can you eat this for me?”
“But… that’s for everybody.”
“I know.”
He looked at the cake, then me, then the cake again. “Why would you want me to eat all that?”
I handed him a fork, but I didn’t answer.

wild flowers - percy jackson
Request: yes! "Can I request a platonic Percy Jackson x Child of Demeter!Reader based off the new Disney series? Where Child of Demeter!Reader is significantly older than Percy (17/18 maybe?) and is the one to welcome him to camp instead of Luke. Reader is more gentle and understanding to Percy's questions and is in general sort of a parent figure in the camp?" Pairing: percy jackson x demeter!reader (platonic) Summary: you welcome the newest kid at camp half-blood Warnings: none (omg??) Word count: 1.1K A/N: was excited when I saw the new episode will be out on Tuesday but then I looked at the time zone and it's 3 am for me so I'll still watch it on wednesday :') thanks for your request, enjoy!
you try not to look away as percy, the newest addition to camp half-blood, nearly shoots another camper. he falls to the ground due to the force of the bow.
'alright.' you say, walking over to see if percy's okay. 'so not archery.'
'I didn't mean to!' says percy, looking at the kids who had flattened themselves to the ground to avoid being shot.
'of course you didn't, they know that. can I have the bow?' you say.
percy quickly shoves the bow in your hands as well as the quiver of arrows. you hand them back to the apollo kid who was teaching him with a thanks and an apologetic smile.
'see, I suck at this.' says percy. 'I'm not good at anything.'
'hey, that's not true.' you say. 'everyone is good at something. c'mon, I'll take you to my favorite spot at camp.'
that gets his attention. 'your favorite spot?'
'yep. right this way.'
you lead him away from the archery field. you can tell he's curious. you take him to the strawberry field, where some of the satyrs and your siblings are tending to the plants.
you walk past the strawberries to a field of grass where wild flowers grow.
'it's pointless.' says percy as the two of you sit down.
you frown. 'what is?'
he gestures around. 'all of this. I'm not one of you. it's clear there's something wrong with me. none of this matters because my dad won't reveal himself, he doesn't care. my mom is gone. I suck at archery. and I can't work in the forge. I can't do anything.'
you look at him. most kids are tough on themselves when they arrive. percy isn't any different.
'at least you didn't suck as much at archery than I did.' you say. 'contrary to you, I actually did hit someone when trying out archery '
percy's eyes widen. 'you did?'
you nod. 'apollo kids had to patch them up. luckily it wasn't that bad. but still I haven't touched a bow since. and I'm also not good at sword fighting. I only carry one because it's the weapon I suck the least with.'
'what if you suck at everything?' asks percy softly.
you smile at him. 'this is all normal. we all felt like this when we came here, regardless if we could already fight or not. and look at me, I still can't fight that well. I'm a joke compared to luke and clarisse if it comes to fighting. gods, even annabeth is better than me and she's your age.'
you point ahead to the strawberry fields. 'my cabin doesn't bring forth the best fighters. and that's okay. we're good at other things.' you say.
percy looks at your siblings, sure enough, not a lot of them carry weapons. maybe you do because you're head counsellor of your cabin.
'when did you find out who your mom was?' asks percy.
you sense he's not just curious about your godly heritage. he wants to know how long it would take before his father claims him. and he already knows there are unclaimed kids.
'for me it was pretty clear. I've always loved plants. I've got an impressive garden back at home.' you say. 'demeter claimed me my second day at camp.'
'so pretty fast...'
'for some kids it's fast. for some it's slow. some kids are very certain about who their godly parent is and sometimes they're right and sometimes they're not. you can't predict it with 100% accuracy.'
'did someone guess it correctly?'
'most of the times it's the athena kids who are right about their hunches. but they're athena kids of course, very smart. also a lot of ares kids are right. and for others it's a 50/50 chance. for instance, milo. everyone was convinced he was a hephaestus kid because he really liked to blow stuff up. turns out he's an athena kid. he's just really smart about blowing stuff up.'
'I bet I'm a kid of the god or failure or something. I'm just a regular kid, I'm not special. I don't have any impressive powers. not like you.'
'you think my powers are impressive?' you chuckle. 'I'm good with plants percy. over the years I've learned how to master those. but at first all I did was accidentally make flower patches.'
percy looks at you, frowning. 'you what?'
you laugh, then point to your shoes. they look like you've worn them every day for the past five years. which you have, somehow they won't wear down.
'these were a gift from my mom. if I don't wear them, flowers grow where I walk.'
'really?'
you nod and take them off. you get up and walk a circle around percy. and indeed, flowers grow where you put your feet down on the grass. you pick one and give it to percy, then put your shoes back on.
'it's the only thing I still can't master. maybe it's not something to be mastered. I'd ask my mom but the only time I saw her was when I was out fighting for my life. wasn't really the time to ask about flowers. she didn't even give me my shoes in person, just sent them here.'
you and percy are silent as you look out over the valley. you remember your first days at camp, how scared you were. you didn't know anyone, you were told your mom was a goddess, and you could never have a moment alone because there would always be someone who could find you based on the flowers you left behind.
'everyone here has been through what you're going through now.' you say. 'maybe they didn't experience it in the same way. I mean, you did kill the minotaur. but all of them have been confused, wondered about wether they belong, if there's something wrong with them. we all found our way in the end.'
'did you feel like you didn't belong?'
'sure. but then chiron explained to me it's all because of the gods. we've got dyslexia because our brain is wired in greek. the adhd is from our need to fight. it's all in our dna. just give it time, you'll belong. any other questions?'
'what do you do when you're not at camp?'
you smile. 'try not to run into any monsters and wait for the time to go to camp again. you'll find your family here, percy, trust me. now let's see if the aphrodite can teach you anything.'
you get up and offer your hand to percy. after pulling him to his feet, you start to walk toward the aphrodite cabin.
'you know, regardless of what cabin you belong to, you can always come to me if you have any questions.' you say.
percy smiles at you. 'thanks.'

"can you see me? i'm waiting for the right time" "i can't read you but, if you want, the pleasure's all mine" "can you see me using everything to hold back?"
pairings: annabeth chase x fem!reader
warnings/tags: none. purely fluff. annabeth’s an oblivious yapper.
summary: you’re trying to kiss annabeth for the first time.
annabeth's room was a familiar haven, filled with blueprints, sketches, and the faint scent of her favorite lavender candles. she was in her element, sitting cross-legged on her bed with a massive blueprint spread out before her, detailing her grand plans for new cabins at camp half-blood.
"and this area here," she said, pointing excitedly, "will be perfect for hecate’s cabin. it’s close to the woods, which will be ideal for any magical work they want to do."
her voice was animated, her grey eyes shining with passion. you tried to keep up, really, you did. but your mind was elsewhere, fixated on the way her lips moved, the curve of her smile, the occasional brush of her curls against her cheek. you’d been best friends for what felt like forever, but recently, something had shifted. there was a tension, an unspoken longing between the two of you that neither of you had dared to address.
you shifted closer, your heart pounding. you placed your hand on her thigh, trying to convey your feelings through that simple touch. maybe then she’d realize how you felt.
she glanced down at your hand, then up at you with a soft smile. she took your hand in hers, squeezing it gently. "thanks for always being here," she said. "it means a lot."
you forced a smile, trying to hide your frustration. of course she thought you was just being supportive. her hand felt warm in yours, and you wanted so badly to pull her closer, to kiss her senseless. but you held back, not wanting to ruin the moment.
annabeth continued talking, her voice a soothing background melody. "and over here," she pointed again, "we can have a communal area for everyone to gather. it’ll symbolize unity among all the campers."
you nodded absently, your thoughts consumed by the way her lips formed each word. you leaned in slightly, your free hand inching up her thigh, desperate to feel more of her.
she turned to face you fully, your knees touching. "are you okay? you seem a bit distracted," she asked, concern lacing her tone.
you took a deep breath, trying to steady yourself. "yeah, just... thinking about how amazing your plans are," you lied, your voice barely above a whisper.
she beamed at the compliment, her eyes softening. for a moment, you thought you saw something more in her gaze, something that mirrored your own feelings. but then she turned back to her blueprint, continuing her excited rambling.
you sighed internally, your heart aching. maybe she didn’t feel the same way. maybe this was all just wishful thinking on your part. but then, an idea struck you.
you reached out, your hand trembling slightly, and gently cupped her cheek. annabeth’s words faltered, her eyes widening in surprise. she looked at you, her breath catching.
"you talk too much," you said softly, a teasing smile playing on your lips. before she could respond, you leaned in and kissed her, pouring all of your pent-up longing and frustration into that single, passionate kiss.
for a heartbeat, time seemed to stop. then, to your immense relief, annabeth kissed you back, her hand came up to rest on yours, holding it against her cheek. when you finally pulled apart, both of you were breathless, your foreheads resting against each other.
"i’ve been wanting to do that for a while," she admitted, her voice a little shaky. "but i was too scared to make the first move."
you laughed softly, your heart swelling with joy. "me too. i guess we’re both a little clueless, huh?"
she smiled, her eyes shining with happiness. "maybe, but we figured it out eventually."
you sat there, wrapped up in each other, the blueprint forgotten. in that moment, nothing else mattered but the two of you, and the realization that you’d finally taken that terrifying, wonderful leap.

Chiron's Secret
summary : Percy finds something particularly odd in Chiron's office.
word count : 0.7k
type : imagines
pairing/s : apart from canon of the riordanverse characters, none. reader is only mentioned briefly, and dates someone outside of camp half-blood.
warning/s: a bit creepy or touching (?), it depends on you.
here is my masterlist!
Note : I am currently fixated on a character from another series; to those who will get it? I love you so much. 🥹
It started with a stupid dare.
They were hanging around the campfire when Leo, bless him, suggested a game of Truth or Dare.
Naturally, Percy, who lacked any sense of safety or caution in his body, chose dare.
Leo's challenge was simple: sneak into Chiron's office and find something embarrassing to share with the group. Easy right?
Plenty of campers had done the same and came out unscathed. Percy had faced gods, monsters, Smelly Gabe, surprise pop quizzes; breaking into an ancient centaur’s office? Child’s play.
Besides, some over enthusiastic children of Ares set the armory on fire so Chiron was busy.
The office was unlocked— Chiron trusted them, which, honestly, was his first mistake. Seriously, does he even know them?
Searching for something amusing in a mostly mundane office proved tricky. The room held nothing particularly scandalous— just the usual: a computer, a boom box, a record player. Nothing that would make for a great story.
Until he found himself rummaging through one of the cabinets that's filled with scrolls and stumbled across something unexpected— a scrapbook.
At first, he assumed it was just a collection of camp memories. Chiron’s office was already filled with framed photos of past demigods on his walls, after all.
But then he saw the picture.
Him and Annabeth at Montauk, years ago, sitting on the beach with the sunset behind them. Their first real vacation, free from chaos. He didn’t even remember anyone taking that photo.
Weird.
Flipping to the next page, he found another one— Nico and Will by the campfire, smiling at each other like nothing else in the world mattered. The night they were officially dating.
Then Clarisse and Chris, sparring in the arena, grinning through their duel.
Frank and Hazel at Camp Jupiter, Hazel laughing as Frank transformed into some ridiculous dolphin in the fountain.
Grover and Juniper, her listening intently as he played his flute by the meadows.
Then (Y/N) and her boyfriend, leaning against a blue jeep, his arms draped over her shoulders while pressing a kiss to her cheek. Looked like after a lacrosse game, judging from the boy's maroon jersey and gear.
Percy’s stomach twisted. The further he flipped, the more couples he found.
"What the fuck?"
It didn’t stop there. Beside each photo, there were notes.
New Rome for college. How the hell did Chiron know about his plans for his relationship with Annabeth?
Staying at Camp Half-Blood and going steady. Which is exactly what Will and Nico are doing.
Going to Comic-Con to meet George Lucas and Hayden Christensen. (Y/N) had once mentioned that to Percy in passing, because apparently, her boyfriend was a huge Star Wars fan.
And then there were the ones that stung.
Died as heroes. A picture of Charles and Silena, her arms wrapped around him while he worked on a machine with his siblings.
Split up after the Battle Against Gaea. Jason and Piper, sitting in a Parisian café, smiling over desserts.
It was sweet, in a way. These pictures captured relationships of the people he cares about, but something about it felt... off.
Why would Chiron do this?
Then he saw a list. Names, some checked off, some underlined. Some written down before the people themselves had even realized they were together.
He looked for his name; Percy Jackson with Annabeth Chase as predicted.
AS PREDICTED?!
Percy slammed the scrapbook shut and let out a nervous laugh.
Nope.
Nope, nope, nope.
Slowly, he put the book back where he found it, suddenly aware that Chiron apparently knew everything.
Chiron— their mentor, father figure, the wisest, kindest, most patient man (did he even count as a man? okay, half-man) Percy had ever known.
He was not supposed to be some secret omniscient romance spy.
Yeah, no. He was done.
Percy didn’t even bother playing along with the dare anymore. He just left, more baffled than he’d ever been in his entire life.
Back at the campfire, his friends turned expectantly.
“What did you find?” Leo grinned.
Percy sat down, looking vaguely haunted. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Cue the teasing, the boos, the dramatic groans of disappointment.
But Percy barely heard them, his gaze fixed on the golden flames.
Chiron knew things.
And that was… terrifying? Flattering? Disturbing? He had no idea.
And frankly?
He never wanted to find out.

Hiii I saw that you were still doing requests so I was wondering if you could do a John Dory x Reader van life fanfic?
I dont have anything particular to ask for just a little story of how it would be like to live with JD in Rhonda and have a simple life after all of the events that happened with Floyd and stuff :)
@!; "Put on Pants!" John Dory / Reader
"Summary"! You love JD, you really do... but at this point, you're about two seconds from slapping his pants in his face if he won't put them on!... and this is exactly how your mornings always start with your husband <3 "Tags"! Fluff and a dumb plot I made with my friend for a goofy story. Also I'm very very sleepy while writing this <3 I was also being silly, I need to have fun writing <3 @writergal02 @chamille-trash @valvalentine69 @starzwithapen
@!; You loved John Dory, you really did. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t have married him all those years ago, if you didn’t you wouldn’t have put up with his weird antics or his little shenanigans, if you didn’t you wouldn’t have left your old life behind to start a new one with him, if you didn’t you wouldn’t be here right now arguing about him and his pants! It was a very odd argument, not even an argument more like a back and forth bicker, about John Dory refusing to wear his pants inside of the house. Not only not his pants, but his shirt as well! Now, granted, you understood where he came from. It’s his house as well, you both lived in Rhonda after all, and he did live here first, but you also lived here! And not to get you wrong, you could stare at the site of your husband, nearly, butt naked for hours on end yet… there comes to a point where the pants need to go on. If no one is coming over, JD is walking around in nothing other than his boxers and goggles. Sure he’ll put on pants and the vest you got him if he has to go out. But as soon as he gets home? Somehow all of that disappears and he’s left in his boxers, which both baffles and amazes you. How he even manages to basically strip that fast, you aren’t even sure. All you know is that you’re slightly fed up with seeing him in boxers for a majority of your day.
“Babe,” You tried explaining to JD without laughing, knowing this was just plain ridiculous. Though, seeing as your husband just walked out of your shared room for the umteenth time in nothing but boxers, you had to bring it up. Again. “You need to put on pants, you can’t just walk out here in boxers! We have a window. Multiple windows! And none of them are tinted.” “Our house.” Was the only grumble you got from your half-asleep husband, who was brushing his teeth all the while trying to make coffee. He wasn’t actually exactly brushing his teeth, as the toothbrush hung from his mouth, likely forgotten as JD began to warm the cafetera on the stop top. It was also hard to keep a straight face when JD was wearing his red heart boxers, “Ay dios mio, John Dory! Put on your damn pants, no one wants to see your nearly naked ass walking around our camper! Por favor.” You pleaded, slips of giggles escaped your lips as you tried to calm your giggles by rubbing your face. But it was truly no use when you glanced back up at your husband. He was leaning against the kitchen counter, arms crossed, and the widest smirk on his face. He looked a little goofy, seeing as his toothbrush was still hanging out of his mouth, but you could tell what his next words were. It was going to be a quip, a flirtatious one of that. It was one he usually used to end this pants conversation, knowing it got you flustered or flabbergasted or just plain over him enough to stop your pursuit. You loved JD so much, but whenever he says: “Aw come on babe, you know you love the sight,” You wanted to strangle him! “I would love the sight even more if my husband would put on his damn pants!” You shot back, not being able to contain your laughter as JD began to playfully wiggle his eyebrows at you. With a shake of your head, you covered your face in your hands and sunk down on the couch melodramatically. God this man is going to be the death of you and he knew it.

Thinkin bout you
(gif is not mine!)
Percy Jackson x SonOfAphrodireMale Reader
Desc: Percy and Reader get caught after abandoning their rules that they made about their relationship for the summer...(inspired by Thinkin bout you by Frank Ocean and Ariana Grande.)
Type: fluff
Warning(none js fluff and kissing and they get caught)
Enjoyyy
After days of flirting, kissing, cuddling, and being completley fascinated with eachother, they had to go back to camp. Percy and you had dated ever since the last day of camp and were never happier. The only thing is that he didnt really think so far ahead of your relationship and where it would go. He just lived in the moment. And so did you but you had enough sense to think about how you guys could handle your relationship during camp. Breaking up wasnt an option so you decided that you two would have to be very sneaky with your relationship and whaf you guys did at camp.
So that intells... No making out after lunch, no pda, and no hickies, NONE. Which was gonna possibly be a struggle for percy loving to see you covered in his love bites. But it didnt mean you guys had to cut things out completely....
It was the second day of camp and you guys abandoned all your rules. Meaning trying to make out while nobody was lookin. Making out during archery practice(not infront of them of course). Skipoing offerings to make out. Leaving hickies on his chin that hed have to say was a bruise due to whatever excuse. And him leaving hickies on your neck that you would have to say was “oh its just a burn from the marshmellows” and thank goodness you were pretty, because you're a horrible liar.(but you like to think you are).
You and percy had been in the woods for a while and peoole were starting to think you guys were lost. But you weren't. He was too busy littering your body with kisses and love bites. You gripped his curly hair as he left hickies on your neck. He was eager too. “whats got you bothered?” you said trying to let words out as he continued the attack on your neck. He finally lifted up. “nothing, ive just been thinkin bout you a lot” percy said before kissing you more. He wrapped your legs around his waist kissing you and smiling.
The great moment that lasted about 15 minutes was “cut short“ when grass swished and a clueless grover who only followed voices came upon an unexpected sight. ”Hey guys- oooh“ Grover said, eyes widened along with an open mouth. You jumped off of Percy immediatley and Percy turned to Grover moving away from you. ”Heyyy, Grover... Uhm thats crazy we were uhm- just lookng-“ Percy was cut off by a disgusted Grover. ”Save it, please. Luke was looking for you and i justoffered to go look. You guys need to uhm. Head back to the camp asap“ Grover said turning away quickly.
You two were in shock. You were caught red handed. “welp, i cant say it wasnt wasnt worth it Jackson.” you said wrapping your hanfs around his neck and his hands on your waist. “oh yeah?” He asked getting closer to you. “oh yeah” you said mocking him as you two giggled. He pressed his nose against yours holding it there. He then kissed you softly before pulling away. “we should probably get back” Percy said scratching his head and blushing. You blushed and nodded walking back together hand in hand.
To sum it up... Mr D wasnt happy and the other campers, while some in awe, some in complete and utter shock. But campers like clarisse... Lets just say they knew all along....

“TOO SWEET” -Luke Castellan

Tags: lowkey loser!luke, Hades!reader, mention of drinking, not established relationships, reader’s mean and lonely, Luke likes to be used? Ig, kinda toxic dynamic between the two
life at camp was always so boring, so empty.
the only fun thing you could do was corrupt the forest’s satyrs to get a bottle of wine.
Truly, being at camp was exhausting, especially as you got older.
Everyone excepted the older kids to help the new. But that was none of your concern, you were more than convinced that maybe camp could’ve invested into a teacher or two instead of forcing children to take the lead on other children.
Chiron was barely around, and Mr. D was anything but a role model.
The only person at camp who seemed to enjoy being helpful was Luke Castellan.
Head counsoler of the Hermes’s cabin; he seemed to be the closest thing to a dad figure kids could have in that place.
He was always doing something, always busy giving a helping hand to whoever needed.
Camp’s golden boy for sure. Bright and nice, funny and sunny.
You didn’t believe any of the reassuring words that came out of his mouth.
There was absolutely no way he liked being used like that, forced to take responsibility for kids that were not his.
You remember vividly the one time, years back, when you stumbled upon a crying kid. Luke was kneeled infront of him, patting on his head as he comforted him. “Its going to be okay” — “don’t worry, okay? Everything is going to be fine”
He was barely 15 when that happened.
You wouldn’t know how to comfort anyone now, let alone at 15.
Somehow, you hated Luke for it. You hated the way he would simply let everything slide on him, the way he allowed everyone to abuse his niceness.
You would never let anyone do that to you. You hardly talked with anyone, actually; preferring to be on your own instead of hanging around the loudness of the other campers, which all seemed so happy to be there.
In fact, the only person who you would occasionally “talked” to was Luke. Many times he caught you breaking the rules, and many times he allowed you to go and redeem yourself instead of telling Chiron. And many other times he found you doing the same exact things, even tho you told him you’ll never do em again.
He was sugar-rotting sweet. Never telling on you.
You hated him for that as well. Why couldn’t he just report you instead of looking at you with his puppy like-eyes? Almost begging you to go sleep and make his job easier instead of getting drunk almost every night.
You wondered why he still covered you, even after years of this routine happening. But you just figured it was his nauseously kind heart.
You wish he’d rebel for once, even to you. You wish he’d just tell you to fuck off and go to bed- but he never did.
“It’s not good for you y/n”
It surprised you he even knew your name.
“You know- getting constantly wasted. I feel like this is not the right way to cope” — “with whatever you’re dealing with”
“I’m dealing with shitty parents Luke, the same thing you’re dealing with”
Your sarcastic remarks often burned on his skin. He wish you’d just listen to him for once- instead of making it so hard for him.
“Oh”
Your infamous smirk would hit him hard as a brick, every single time.
This was an example of the nightly conversations you had.
Sometimes you would go as far as asking him if he wants a sip, other times you’d just tell him to piss off instead. Depending on how you felt.
During the day, you simply didn’t speak at all. Weird, anyone would find it, but when the sunlight was out you wouldn’t acknowledge his existence; even ignored him, perhaps.
He didn’t mind- not that he’d show it anyways, but it was pretty in character for you to do something like that.
The moody daughter of hades- what else could he expect from you?
Yet sometimes it’d hurt.
Maybe he did care more than he should’ve. But again, wasn’t that in character for him? To be overly good and kind and caring towards the unworthy?
Only very few times you’d spare him a words. Usually when someone needed him and you happened to be the one sent to call him.
Perhaps it was okay to him; he grew rough and unloved- he didn’t care if he wasn’t more than a secretive nightly swing to you.
As long as he could have you, he was willing to be used. Because that’s all he knew anyways.

Fever - Clarisse La Rue
summary: clarisse comes into the infirmary with a fever
characters: clarisse , daughter of apollo!reader
contents: maybe ooc clarisse (?) , shes such a sweetheart , sorta needy clarisse , mediocre writing
word count: 445
a/n - this is my first time writing for the public so yk 😭 im open to suggestions 🫶🏾

it was an unusually slow day in the camp half-blood infirmary. not many demigods came in today so you being the nice cabin counselor you were decided to let the rest of your healer siblings have a day of training instead of medical care.
you were sitting back in a chair soaking in the natural light the windows let in when you heard the door open due to the chimes hanging from the doorframe.
you quickly opened your eyes to see none other than the clarisse la rue.
you see, to your average camper, clarisse was like a poison dart frog. everyone and i mean everyone knew not to piss her off. she was like your own personal hellhound just minus the fact that shes a demigod and hellhounds are dogs.
she looks around for you before she locks eyes with you and you smile at her.
"hello clair, to what do i owe the pleasure?"
she rolled her eyes. "speak normally please." you chuckled in response, gesturing her to sit on one of the beds.
"so what's the problem?"
"does there have to be a problem? can't a girl just want to see her girlfriend?"
you smile at her sweetness. "aww thats so-"
"don't ruin it."
you roll your eyes this time starting to walk over to her.
"y'know you're really sweet when you're passive."
she groans dismissively.
"okay grizzly bear," you get to her and place your hands on her shoulders looking down at her. "really, whats up?"
her head hangs low resting gently on your stomach. she resists the urge to completely rest herself on you.
you take your hand and press it to her forehead in an attempt to lift her head up but you're quick to notice the fiery warmth coming from her forehead.
"pretty bad fever you have here sweet girl."
she grumbles softly.
she lifts her head up and gently grabs your waist. her eyes almost look as if they're pleading.
you raise an eyebrow. "is there something you need?"
she scoffs and rolls her eyes. you know what she wants but you're not taking the attitude.
she grumbles something under her breath.
"what was that bubs? couldn't hear 'ya."
she sighs deeply. "can you -- can you kiss me?
you smile and sit on the bed next to her and kiss her lips gently.
she sighs as you kiss her, placing her hands on your waist once again gently kissing you as if if she were any rougher you'd crack.
other campers were always scared of clarisse but you weren't because they didn't know her like you did and she wouldn't ever love them like she did you.

Flufftober 2024
Day 10: Love Spell
Pairing(s): Leo Valdez x Gn!Reader (child of Hecate)
You were in your cabin organizing your clothes before Leo burst in through the front door. It wasn’t unusual for him to, if anything you were surprised he finally decided to come in that way rather than sneaking through the back window.
“Come on! I found something near the lake!” Without waiting for you to ask anything, Leo went sprinting off. The only choice he left you was to follow behind him, and so you did.
You both ran through the camp like lunatics, passing by the other cabins and even a few campers glanced your way but it was obvious that none of them cared enough to find out why.
Soon enough you started passing less and less campers, you and Leo were the only people around.
Leo finally came to a stop and you leaned on your knees, chest heaving up and down from the exhaustion of running continuously.
You finally glanced up and took in the scenery. There was a blanket on the ground, a basket, and a cooler nearby.
Your gaze finally settled on Leo and his arm settled behind his neck, rubbing it sheepishly.
“You… put this together?” You were honestly sort of surprised. Ever since Leo proposed living at the Way station the only times you’d have dates was when you’d go to some shops nearby or have them at the station.
“Uh yea, do you like it?” Your silence seemed to have caused Leo to start worrying.
“Of course I do” you walked up to him and wrapped him in your embrace. “Why wouldn’t I?”
Leo didn’t seem to have an answer besides just being nervous and so you two sat down.
Leo quickly grabbed the basket. It didn’t have any actual dishes, just some snacks like fruit, chips, chocolate anything that you two both enjoyed.
“Where’d you get the cooler?” You’ve never seen it before.
“Oh, I asked Chiron if I could borrow it, luckily saving the world gave me that special ability.” Leo winked and acted all smug as if you weren’t there beside him the entire time.
“Leo, really?” You shoved him playfully and you began bringing out some of the foods you two would eat first.
For the most part you both just sat in comfortable silence eating the food that Leo had gathered. You were digging through the cooler to get out a drink and when you finally looked up Leo was holding a chunk of whatever it was that he was eating up to you.
It was clear as day that he wanted to feed you, I mean blud was literally blushing from head to toe.
That’s how he got when he’d do stuff that was actually considered romantic, none of that joke flirting.
You smiled and leaned in, eating the food he was offering you. Despite that, he still flinched and looked away.
“You’re so cute Leo” He sort of sputtered before retorting “nuh uh”
“Yuh huh”
“Nuh uh”
“Yes and that’s final” you finally resorted to shoving a chip into Leo’s mouth.
Luckily rather than getting upset he just happily munched on the chip and accepted defeat.
Soon enough you two quickly finished up some of the snacks and began cleaning up, putting away the left overs for another time.
You were about to put away the blanket too but Leo stopped you, proposing that you watch the sunset together. How romantic.
You two quickly sat down and settled in the direction of the setting sun. Leo wasted no time in settling on your lap to face the sunset too.
“Can I ask you a question?” Leo’s voice rang from where he was laying, your hand was absentmindedly playing with his hair.
“Yea, sure” you looked at him waiting for his question. Leo turned his body and head to look up at you in your lap, clearly having no care in the world about making sure he’s comfortable.
“Did you put a love spell on me?” Your eyebrows shot up, wouldn’t have been the first time someone asked you that question but Leos tone made it obvious he was sort of playing into it(?)
“Of course not” you huffed as you stifled a laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation.
“Really?” Leo’s tone changed to a teasing one “you can tell me, I wouldn’t mind if you did”
At that you finally laughed, “no I didn’t, why are you so insistent that I did?”
A blush crept up his face but he made no move to look away this time, “because I love you”
It was your turn to be startled, your face wore a similar shade to his. Before he could get a terrible idea (aka thinking you didn’t return the feeling) you leaned down and kissed him.
In typical Leo fashion he wrapped his arms around your neck and brought you down. Not that you mind.
You two parted and Leo’s gaze was still on you, “so do you?”
“Huh?”
“Do you love me back?”
You let a laugh and nodded, “yes, I love you too”
You two sat there for a while before you realized that it was now pitch dark.
“Leo! We missed the sunset” you were totally distracted from it.
“That’s fine, we have tomorrow anyway.” Wel, that was true.
Leo got up and held a hand out for you to take, and of course you took it.
You two began making your way back to camp before Leo asked “do you think the harpy’s will rip us to shreds”
Damn, you didn’t think that far ahead.

PITCHING TENTS ⛺️
Kid Pirates x AFAB Reader Modern AU Campground Series
🔞 MINORS DNI 🔞
It wasn't something you'd ever admit to those who knew you, they all made the reasonable assumption that you went camping to spend time alone. At first, that had been the case, but you'd quickly come to learn that other single men your age were doing the same thing, and you found yourself loving the thrill of a romp with a stranger.
Masterlist || AO3
PART 1/6 - LAY OF THE LAND
CW: None for this chapter, just R18 mentions of sex.
WC: ~3k
Taglist: @nocturnalrorobin
A/n: I'm vaguely setting this in my home country of NZ, based on a campsite I frequent, for entirely selfish purposes but also because it's easy to describe a place you've been to a million times. Anyway, when I mention forests those are the kinds I mean, no fear of a rogue bear or mountain lion ✌️
You pulled into the quiet campsite in the middle of nowhere as you did every year around this time. Set between large mountainous hills covered in dense forest, and boasting a pool heated naturally by nearby geothermal activity, the site was a popular, bustling location in the on season. You, however, enjoyed the off season, when it was quiet, almost entirely abandoned save for the grounds keeper and his dog, and a handful of long term residents, living out their retirements in quiet bliss in the RVs that lined the very back of the campgrounds. You parked your humble car in front of the office that was built alongside a small shop, usually selling entry and icecreams to locals who came here for the pools, but also held a selection of basics such as toilet paper and cup noodles for campers in desperate need of a grocery trip.
The gravel that lined the carpark crunched underfoot as you made your way to the wooden ramp that led to the office and store building, the whole complex no bigger than a shipping container. The eggy smell of sulphur from the nearby geothermal activity filled your nostrils, unpleasant at first but a smell you'd quickly get accustomed to as you always did. A bell rang as you opened the door, the older woman assigned to mind the store today hurrying out from out back, you could hear the TV she'd been watching as she came out front. This time of the year customers were nil to none, so the counters relied on bells for service, usually unmanned otherwise. The chances of someone stealing from the store while it was unoccupied were slim, but you could assume they had a camera set up to watch from a screen out back anyway.
“[Y/n]!” The old woman exclaimed, taking her seat behind the desk, “I was happy to see you on our books this morning”
“Can't miss my mid-year vacay, Marg,” you replied with a smile, pulling out your wallet and leaning against the desk. You'd been coming here for years, and Margie had worked here for just as long. “What do I owe ya?”
“Minus the deposit you already paid, that'll be $65 sweetheart,” she smiled, clicking a few buttons on the keyboard at a snail pace as she worked on printing a receipt. You handed her the cash and the til made a clunk as the drawer popped open, Marg replacing your four twenty dollar notes with a five and a ten and handing them back to you. You slipped them back into your wallet and she handed you a keycard for the gate that kept pool visitors and strangers out of the campgrounds. Well, their cars anyway, they could absolutely just walk around it.
“Usual spot sweetheart, I'm sure you don't need a map,” she stood to return to her back room. She was definitely getting older, and standing was clearly more difficult for her than it had been in previous years. You'd be sad the year you came to camp and weren't greeted by her friendly face
You thanked her and made your exit, getting back into your car and making sure to roll down your window. You slowly made the short distance to the card receiver, leaning out your window a little to hold the card against it. A small light flashed green and the metal arm creaked as it began to raise. Your car was small, so you didn't have to wait for it to raise completely before you were passing underneath it and navigating the familiar gravel roads to your favourite spot. There were no additional parking spots at each spot, you were expected to either park on them or leave your car in front of the office, so you pulled onto the grass alongside the road between the brick lines that marked the boundary of your spot.
Your usual spot was close to the middle of the grounds, directly across from the communal kitchen building, and just a thirty second walk from the main toilet and shower block. There were other, smaller toilet blocks scattered around the grounds, but this was the only one that featured showers and laundry. The kitchen building was also just a nice place to hang out, having a semi covered outdoor area framed by benches, one of the only places other than your own rented spot where you were allowed to drink alcohol, so it was a great place to meet other campers. At first glance, anyone would think a lone woman coming to a campground on the off season was here for peace and quiet. On the contrary, you found during the busy season there were usually far too many large families and happy couples. The off season was for singles, and you were here for one thing and one thing only: sex with strangers.
It wasn't something you'd ever admit to those who knew you, they all made the reasonable assumption that you were here to spend time alone, always turning down offers from friends to join you. At first, that had been the case. A spontaneous camping trip in the middle of the year to cool down after a particularly stressful project at work finally wrapped up. But you'd quickly come to learn that other single men your age were doing the same thing, and you found yourself loving the thrill of a romp with a stranger. The campsite being so empty also made for additional excitement, after many years here you'd had sex in or on most of the campground's amenities. The kitchen, the pool, the showers, on top of a laundry machine. It was an excitement you struggled to find in the big city you came from, without wasting money on a hotel room there was no good way to have sex with a stranger without being caught and without them knowing where you lived and getting attached, because like hell were you going to a strange man's house on your own.
You quickly set about working on your tent, pulling item after item from the back of your car and setting up with well practised speed. Soon you were closing the car boot and admiring your work. A decently sized, two chambered tent - the first chamber holding your cooler and a small fold down table for prepping a quick snack at night. The kitchens had multiple large fridges available for use, but you liked to keep your beer and soda in an ice bath in your tent for easy access. Every morning and evening you would go to the small camp store and buy a bag of ice, but for now the cooler was empty. The second chamber was larger and held most of your belongings, as well as a queen sized, double layered, inflatable mattress, already set with comfortable bedding. You even had a small fold down side table and camping lamp, which had a handle for late night toilet visits, and you'd run an extension cable from the site provided power you'd paid extra for, to your side table, so you could charge your phone and laptop from the bed. There was no internet here, and barely any phone signal, but you'd downloaded plenty of movies, tv shows and e-books before leaving home, as well as bringing a handful of actual novels, a switch console and drawing supplies. You weren't a fantastic artist by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a hobby you enjoyed and liked to practise anyway.
Outside your tent you'd also set up a small gazebo, after your first few years you'd gotten sick of being trapped inside the tent whenever it rained, and it also provided shelter for a large trestle table and tabletop barbecue so you could grill regardless of the rain. There were also a few collapsible chairs under the gazebo, a larger reclining one where you spent most of your time, and a smaller more basic one in case you had a guest. Aka another camper you intended to, or hand already fucked.
Satisfied with your setup, you took a quick break to check your phone and let your friends know you'd made it safe and sound, before climbing back in your car and heading to the grocery store in the small nearby town. The town was about a twenty minute drive away, a small oceanside tourist town that was mostly a pass through for those heading to a nearby famous beach, or to board boats or small privately run helicopters for whale and dolphin watching. You'd never bothered with the tourist traps, but you had once or twice hit the beach when you'd come during the on season with friends.
Thriving on local tourism, the town was humble compared to the city you'd come from, but large enough to have two supermarkets and a decent size home goods store, as well as a long stretch of boutiques and cafes. You head to your favourite supermarket, pulling into the half full car park and heading inside. You pulled up your list on your phone as you approached the doors, grabbing a trolley and setting about your shopping. Food for several days, beer, condoms, all very important. A novel that caught your eye, some trashy magazines, snacks for late night movies. A comically large cucumber caught your eye, and you snapped a pic to send to your friends with the caption ‘finally found a boyfriend 🥒💦’
Everything on your list gathered, you headed for the checkouts. A big, noisy, red ute pulled into the carpark as you started loading your groceries into the reusable totes you kept in the back of your car. It parked nearby and four fucking massive men jumped out, shoving each other and laughing boisterously. Definitely not locals by the looks of it, the back of the ute loaded up with what looked like camping equipment, tied down with straps and a piece of blue tarpaulin that didn't cover everything. You wondered if they'd be staying at the same grounds as you, it was the most well known in the area given its pool that was free use for the campers and the nearby hiking trail that offered incredible views of the entire area all the way out to the ocean. You licked your lips at their beefy builds, a girl could certainly dream, any of them would make a fine target for your sexual escapades.
The red haired one among them wolf whistled as he passed by, as you bent over the boot of your car to reach an extra tote that had fallen under a seat. You turned back to him, a hand on your hip, and winked playfully. He blushed, clearly not having expected that reaction, and his friends whooped and smacked him playfully. The group followed behind the redhead who was fleeing as fast as he could, and you continued packing away your groceries and returned your trolley before heading back to camp.
When you got back you unpacked everything, putting your chillables in the provided fridges, your name written in clear black marker over each package, and filled your cooler with the bag of ice you'd grabbed from the camp store on your way in before putting your beer and soda in to chill. The food that didn't need refrigeration was stored in your tent in a small latchable plastic box to keep any rodents away. All done with your chores, you ate a quick lunch of some pre-made food you'd grabbed at the supermarket, and decided to hit up the pool.
You made your way back up the gravel path from the pool, slide on sandals on your feet and a towel wrapped around your body. You were still in your bikini, your wet hair sending droplets of fresh water from the rinsing shower down your body. You watched a bird native to the area fly overhead before the sound of boisterous laughter caught your attention. Usually, at this time of the year, campsite guests would pick locations far away from each other, most people came here this time of the year to be alone. The grounds were arranged in blocks, each block holding ten or twelve sites, split with half to one road and half to another. There were a good amount of blocks, the grounds could probably accommodate a good couple hundred people at its peak, though right now you could only see three other tents far from yours.
You could hear the group before you spotted their red ute, the same one from the grocery store, obscured by your own setup until you got closer. They'd rented what looked like multiple sites right next to yours. Usually, you would be annoyed, but being that they were all so delicious you were delighted. This was going to be a successful holiday indeed.
The group was made up of four large men. There was the redhead who had whistled at you, he looked to be the youngest of the group, as wide as he was tall with a thick scar that ran down his face, giving him a natural bad boy appearance. He was soft looking, but in a strong, could definitely throw you over his shoulder sort of way, like a boxer. You noticed now that he was missing his left arm, it must have been facing away from you at the store. He wore eyeliner, which you noticed now they all did, along with a vibrant red lipstick that matched his hair. He looked very punk in dark ripped jeans and a leather vest he wore open, showing the scar that ran over his torso, along with a big fuck-off belt buckle and multiple silver chains hanging from his belt. The nails on his one hand were painted a darker red, and he had a black fabric headband holding back his wild hair.
Next was the shortest of the group, though certainly not short by normal standards. Dressed in a simple blue t-shirt and jeans, his impressive blond hair went all the way to his hips. His sharp featured face was partially obscured by messy straight bangs and a fluffy goatee, his lips painted purple as he flashed a bright toothy smile at the redhead.
The other two both dressed in a punk aesthetic much like the redhead, two slightly older men with impressive heights, one of them towering above all four of them. The shorter man had pale blue hair set in dreads, his face covered in unusual scars and thorn like tattoos wrapping around his neck and down his arms. The taller hid his hair under a black hoodie, but you could see pointed sideburns peeking out under them. He looked deliciously muscular under the tight netting shirt he wore.
The four of them were going about their setup, four separate single chamber tents laid out on the ground to sort their positions while the blond and tall one carried an excessive amount of grocery bags to the shared kitchen. It was just as well there was hardly anyone at the camp, they'd need a whole fridge on their own with that much food. Deciding to make your intentions clear as soon as possible, you laid a towel over your reclining chair and grabbed a beer, relaxing in your bikini that showed off your fit body. The redhead was quick to notice, and you tilted your sunglasses to wink at him. He realised why he recognized you and you heard him swear and scurry away. Cute.
You watched their entire setup process hungrily, watching their muscles flex as they unloaded the ute and set things in place. The redhead was no help with the tents, so he worked on setting up smaller things like their large barbecue and chairs while the other three got the tents erected. You couldn't help but notice that they hadn't brought a gazebo, they must be newbies. Hopefully the weather would be fine for however long they were staying, you hoped for more than one day, and given the amount of food they had you would guess at least three.
All of them eventually took notice of you, catching sly glances where they could. The blond one seemed the most confident, openly flexing and showing off, flashing you wide grins that you eagerly returned. Oh you would definitely be climbing that tree. The redhead continued to act shy, doing things that were clearly to show of his strength but refusing to meet your eye. The bluenette gave you kind looking smiles, and the tall one looked at you with suspicion, which you always responded to by changing which leg was crossed over the other, giving him a full view of your barely clothed centre. It didn't seem to phase him though, curious.
Your phone pinged at some point and you checked it, starting a conversation with your bestie about your current view. She was the only person who knew the real reason you took these holidays. You snapped a quick, sneaky pic of the four men as they set up.
You: [one attachment] You: finally found a boyfriend 🥒💦 Bestie: LMAO finally a man that can satisfy You: might have found a few more of those Bestie: yeah? Good huntin? 👀 You: new neighbours You: [one attachment] Bestie: fuck me Bestie: or rather, fuck you, hopefully You: the blond one is giving me eyes for sure Bestie: yeah? You layin down that charm girlie You: lets just say i just got back from the pool, and im enjoying a nice beer on my recliner 👙 Bestie: yes queen! Give them a good look at that meal, they're gonna be eatin you up in no time! You: fingers crossed 🤞 you know im in dire need of a good fuck, heres hoping they're not all just a gay polycule, that'd be just my luck Bestie: well it sounds like at least the blond is dtf You: hes got a cute ass smile, cant wait to ride it 🤠 Bestie: girl you are nasty! 😂 Go get that dick queen 🍆 ttyl, ily! You: luv u!
You put down your phone and finished your beer, deciding you'd laid around for long enough and it was probably time to get started on dinner. It was already late in the day, if you were going to attract any of the boys it likely wouldn't be today, you needed the novelty of camping to wear off for them before they came sniffing around for more excitement. Not to mention you were tired from driving all morning and setting up. You pulled a few things from the kitchen, carrying them back on one of your plastic camping plates, and grilled yourself a steak while you scooped a few premade deli salads onto your plate. You enjoyed your meal while reading your new book, noting the smell of meat in the air and the sounds of sizzling and beer cans opening nearby as your neighbours settled in for their own dinner.
When it got too dark to read you took your dishes to the kitchen to wash them, grabbed your toiletries from your tent, and took a quick shower. The weather was warm enough to make the short walk in your nightie, so you strutted back to your tent with your legs and cleavage on proud display, your nipples pert under the satin night dress which was trimmed with thick lace, hanging from your shoulders by delicate spaghetti straps. You'd never have walked around in public like this if you had neighbours you weren't trying to fuck, but you were more than happy for the boys to look at you, and look they did. You gave them a short wave before you entered your tent, grabbing a new beer and your laptop and settling in to watch a movie.

You swung your stick, the loud whack as it came in contact with Clarisse’s echoed through the early morning. You seemed to be the only two awake at the early hour. You had been hanging out with Clarisse and Silena while being stuck at camp. Most of your time was spent with Clarisse, training, and sparring. Sparring with your sisters was fun and you enjoyed kicking their butts but training with the same people every day for hundreds of years made their moves predictable. You liked a challenge, needed the challenge, winning wasn’t satisfying when there wasn’t a challenge. Winning didn’t mean anything if it came easily or if you had won against the same people so often, which is why Clarisse was so exciting, she was new to spar with and though you were vastly better than her, she was still good, she had skills and had managed to surprise you a few times.
You would train with Clarisse until Silena found the two of you and dragged you both away, usually to get something to eat. You watched how everyone at camp reacted to Clarisse, everyone was afraid of her, the way they would cower when she so much as glared at them. At dinner the night before, a kid had been walking by and dropped his spoon, Clarisse glared at him, and he had taken off running, forgetting his fallen spoon and dropping the rest of his plate in the process. But with Silena, Clarisse was different, she was still sarcastic, but she laughed and joked around more, she seemed lighter around Silena.
You didn’t like the way they were with each other, so touchy and friendly. You weren’t sure why you were feeling that way, you had never felt that way in your entire existence but whenever you saw Silena giving her a hug or smiling at Clarisse you didn’t like the feeling in your stomach. You didn’t think they lied when they said they weren’t girlfriends but at first you thought they were just in denial or oblivious, that they were best friends but would eventually figure out they liked each other in a romantic way.
As you watched them the last few days you saw that wasn’t the case, they really were just best friends. Clarisse was sarcastic and slightly less of an asshole to Silena, but she would support and defend her and listen to her drone on and on about something Clarisse clearly wasn’t interested in. Silena was the same, she wasn’t afraid of Clarisse like everyone else, she treated her like another person and would just roll her eyes when Clarisse said something snarky, she never let it dampen her mood and she was one of the only ones to call Clarisse out on her shit. Seeing Silena make heart eyes at Beckendorf helped solidify that her and Clarisse weren’t into each other.
You still did training with the other Hunters, but most were either taking care of Phoebe or they were doing training on their own. There were still a few times a scuffle between a Hunter and another camper would break out, but you were quick to neutralize it. They all clearly missed Zoe and Artemis, they all shared the same worry, but none of them seemed to have the same feeling of dread. It was hard to be with your sisters without your mind going to the worst-case scenario and feeling like not everyone would be returning from the quest. Hanging out with Clarisse was a nice distraction, your mind was still filled with worry for your goddess, but it wasn’t all consuming when you were in Clarisse’s presence.
Despite your distracted mind you still managed to block Clarisse’s final attack. The two of you had sparred with a variety of weapons and decided to go back to basics and use sparring sticks for the day. It was actually fun, not going at it like crazy trying to one up each other and just spar. She did try to trick you a few times, but you just smirked and blocked her, but she managed to block all of your blows as well.
Clarisse stepped back and the two of you were left panting, a nice coat of sweat on each of you. You followed Clarisse to the bench where the two of you sat your stuff. Each of you grabbed your water, then Clarisse grabbed the sticks and put them back in the shed with all the other sparring equipment. By the time the two of you were walking down the hill from the sparring area the rest of camp was just beginning to wake up. The two of you passed sleepy campers making their way to breakfast, the both of you continued to walk the opposite direction. You each had a granola bar and were done sparring before Silena got to you so she couldn’t make the both of you sit down and have a ‘real breakfast’ as she liked to call it.
You followed Clarisse through the woods until you reached the creek. “This is my favorite spot,” she said quietly as she pulled herself up onto a rock and plopped herself down.
“It’s nice,” you said, looking around. It was a relatively secluded spot, far enough away from camp that you couldn’t hear any of the noise from the other campers but close enough that the two of you shouldn’t run into any danger.
“Though I bet this is your usual surroundings,” she gave you a knowing look.
You couldn’t help but nod. “This would be the ideal spot for Artemis, it’s pretty perfect. We don’t always stay somewhere nice, even if we have our tents.”
“I don’t think I could ever take the oath, being a Hunter doesn’t seem overly appealing honestly.” You looked at her, raising an eyebrow. “No offense,” she held up her hands. “But you guys seem to have it made, traveling all over, fighting monsters, that’s like the dream.”
“I mean it’s not all that glamorous,” you chuckled. “We’ve spent months tracking the same creature before, to the ends of the earth and back. I’m sure you have plenty of excitement here.”
“Yeah right,” Clarisse scoffed. “Besides my quest last year, the most exciting thing in my life has been going to an amusement park.”
You gave Clarisse a blank stare as you tilted your head. “What’s an amusement park?”
Clarisse broke out into laugh which only confused you more. Her laughter died down when she realized you weren’t laughing with her. “Wait, are you serious?” She asked through another chuckle. You could only nod. “You’ve been on this earth for like a thousand years. How do you not know?”
You shrugged. “I joined Artemis a thousand years ago. I’ve been with her ever since, we don’t usually spend time going to amusement parks,” you said the last words slowly as if it they were foreign words.
Clarisse blinked a few times as she processed the fact you truly didn’t know what she was talking about. “Don’t you guys ever like,” she waved her hand around to try gesturing, “interact with society?”
“We do,” you said defensively. “But Artemis doesn’t really like mortals, neither do the rest of the Hunters. If we need something in town, I’m usually sent to retrieve it. It’s always a quick trip.”
“So, you’ve never been on a rollercoaster?” You shook your head, scrunching your eyebrows once again at the new word. “You have to have seen one before.”
You could only shrug. Clarisse looked at you in disbelief before throwing her head back with a groan. When she was satisfied with her dramatics, she jumped right into explaining what a rollercoaster was, waving her hands in the air crazily as she tried to help explain it better when her words weren’t working. You were sure you only looked more and more confused as she continued explaining.
“Sounds like something Hephaestus would make,” you said after she was finally done.
“He probably has,” Clarisse said with a shrug. “You’ve really haven’t seen one?”
“I mean,” you bobbed your head back and forth as you tried to recall what she described. “Maybe? Definitely haven’t been on one or been to an amusement park.”
“Guess this means I have to take you to one some time.”
“Sounds like a plan.” You weren’t sure how that would ever work out, you didn’t get much free time and definitely not enough to go off and do something like that. When you and the Hunters weren’t tracking a monster, you were training or having a lazy day, no one really had time to go off and meet with someone else or do something on their own. You liked the sound of going to an amusement park with Clarisse though.
The two do you talked until Silena came running up to get Clarisse. She was screaming Clarisse’s name until her eyes fell on the two of you. She froze, her mouth hanging open, you furrowed your brow not understanding what that look was for. You caught that look a few times from Silena like she was watching you and Clarisse, like she knew something the two of you didn’t but then she’d quickly hide it.
“Your brothers are fighting with the other campers,” Silena said, breathless.
“So?” Clarisse said, slightly annoyed. Clarisse tended to not get annoyed by Silena, but it was definitely clear she was not happy about being bothered.
“Clarisse,” Silena said sternly, crossing her arms and tilting her head.
Clarisse rolled her eyes and got up from her spot on the rock. She walked over to Silena before turning back to you. “You coming to the bonfire tonight?” She asked. She looked down at the rock, if you didn’t know any better you would say Clarisse was almost acting shy. You knew that wasn’t possible though, there was no reason for her to be shy about asking if you’d be at the bonfire.
“Of course,” you said, giving her a small smile.
You and Clarisse stared at each other for a moment, Silena’s eyes darting back and forth between the two of you until she finally pulled Clarisse away. You watched them leave, a small blush appearing on your cheeks, you weren’t sure what caused it. You quickly brushed yourself off before making your way back to the cabin.
You didn’t realize how long you and Clarisse had been talking. The two of you started training before the sun was even up and didn’t stop until the early risers were beginning to wake. Walking back to the cabin you noticed all the campers awake, running around and doing various activities. The sun was high in the air and based on the position it was just a little after noon. You and Clarisse had literally talked for hours and yet it felt like no time had passed. You couldn’t remember the last time you enjoyed talking to someone about anything and everything.
When you got back to the cabin you noticed all the Hunters up. Some of them were still lounging around the cabin but most seemed off around camp somewhere, most likely training. You gave Phoebe, who was resting in her bed, a nod. Phoebe was pretty much fully recovered but she still had no desire to hang around outside the cabin. She mentioned wanting revenge against the boys who gave her the shirt, but you reminded her Artemis ordered all of you to behave, despite really wanting to get revenge as well.
“Where were you?” Phoebe asked.
“Hanging out with Clarisse,” you answered as you flopped down on your own bed.
“You sure have been hanging out with her a lot.”
“She’s fun,” you smiled to yourself, giving Phoebe a little shrug. Phoebe just hummed causing you to sit up so you could look at her. “What?”
“You just,” Phoebe nodded her head back and forth as she tried to come up with the words she was looking for. “Don’t usually hangout with other demigods or anyone really.”
“We’ve been training together.” You gave her another shrug; you weren’t sure why you were getting so defensive over your friendship with Clarisse. “She’s a new challenge.”
“Okay,” she said, though she didn’t sound convinced. “I’m going to get food.” You watched her with scrunched up eyebrows as she walked out of the cabin.
You didn’t see Clarisse the rest of the day, but you also didn’t hear any news about any campers being maimed and Ares kids getting in trouble, so you assumed everything went well with Clarisse’s sibling. You spent part of the day in the cabin then the rest of it training with your sisters. With Artemis and Zoe not around, it was your job to make sure they stayed on top of things and to make sure all of you were ready to leave the second Artemis gave the word.
Before you knew it it was nighttime, and everyone was getting ready for the bonfire. You made your way to the bonfire with the rest of your sisters, laughing and joking around. The bonfire for the night was on the beach by the lake. As you stepped down onto the sand you instantly caught sight of Clarisse standing by the fire, talking to Silena. You sucked in a breath at the sight of her, watching how the fire cast a gorgeous glow around her. As if sensing your eyes on her she looked up, meeting your gaze. You both smiled at the same time and without another word to your sisters you made your way over to her.
“Hey,” you said. “Hi,” you looked to Silena.
“Hey,” Clarisse replied.
“Hello,” Silena said. You furrowed your brow, there was something in Silena’s tone and she tried to hide a smirk by quickly taking a sip of her drink.
“Everything work out with your brother?” you asked, nodding to her hand where you saw her knuckles already starting to bruise.
Clarisse rolled her eyes and nodded to a place across the bonfire. You followed her gaze and saw a son of Ares sporting a new blackeye. You couldn’t help but shake your head, silently chuckling. “He thought he didn’t have to listen to me,” Clarisse mumbled.
“It was actually kind of entertaining,” Silena added.
You sighed and followed the girls to a log near the bonfire. Clarisse sat in the middle, with you and Silena taking the spots next to her. You glanced around the bonfire, seeing it in full swing, campers grouped up laughing and joking or couples snuggled up together. You even saw a couple Hunters being cordial with some fellow campers.
“Did you know she’s never been to an amusement park?” Clarisse asked. When you turned to glare at her you saw her looking at Silena before turning to you, leaning back so you got a full view of Silena’s shocked expression.
“What!” Silena shouted, sloshing her drink onto the ground.
You just shrugged. “We don’t really go and do mortal things,” you said. “We don’t have much down time and when we do, we’re usually in the middle of the woods somewhere.”
“Not going to an amusement park is like never having seen a movie!” You titled your head and gave Silena a shrug. “What!” she shot to her feet causing you to lean back as other campers turned to look at the commotion. “How is that possible?”
“Like I just said-”
“You were literally around when movies were invented!” she held out her arms as if that would change the fact that you’ve never seen a movie.
You just shrugged. You turned to Clarisse for help, but she just shook her head. “Guess that’s something else we’ll have to do,” she said, smiling at you.
“Showing me my first movie,” you said, smirking. “The pressure is on.”
Silena let out a groan. “It’s going to be some boring action movie.”
Clarisse turned to her friend, offended. “Better than some lovey dovey rom com you’d choose,” she scoffed.
It was Silena’s turn to look offended. The two of them went back and forth arguing about rom coms and action movies and which was better. You couldn’t keep up and didn’t understand the majority of what they were saying. You thought they were screaming movie titles at one another, trying to prove their point, but you couldn’t be sure, some of the titles seemed weird. They continued to argue until Beckendorf came over, shyly asking Silena to hangout. You and Clarisse watched the two of them walk away, the backs of their hands lightly brushing against each other, both too nervous to make the move and hold the other’s hand.
You stayed next to Clarisse the rest of the night. Neither of you moved from your place on the log as you continuously engaged in conversation. Since learning you had never been to an amusement park or seen a movie, she was determining everything ‘normal’ as she liked to call it, that you missed out on and hadn’t experienced yet. She was making a list of everything she intended to show you and do with you. Every time a new revelation was made of something you hadn’t done, you pointed out something you had done that no one else had. She learned you hadn’t been to Disney World, even though you didn’t understand how that was different than an amusement park, you countered telling her about one of your hunts deep in a jungle where you came across an incredible waterfall.
She was mind blown you had never driven a car. She assumed, like Silena with movies, that you were around when the car was invented so you must have driven one. You pointed out that there has never been a reason for you to drive a car. You and the Hunters traveled with Artemis everywhere. If all of you needed to cross the country or go to a different country, you either walked or used non-mortal methods of transportation. You tried to argue that you had been on a boat, it wasn’t with other humans, but you had been on a boat. She said that didn’t count because when you were a kid boats and walking were the only means of transportation.
When there was a pause in your conversation you looked up, noticing most of the other campers and Hunters were gone. The fire was still going but it wasn’t as large as it had been during the beginning of the night, there was just enough left to light up your surroundings. The few campers that were left were either rubbing their eyes as they made their way back to their cabins or were falling asleep in the sand.
“Guess we got carried away,” you said. “Didn’t realize it was so late.”
“Yeah,” Clarisse whispered.
You turned to her, ready to suggest turning in but the words died in your throat when you caught sight of Clarisse. The dying fire illuminated the side of her face, creating a gorgeous golden glow. You noticed her eyes flick down, yours did the same motion, landing on her lips. You held your breath as the two of you began to lean in.
Your noses had just brushed when realization hit you, making you pull back just ever so slightly. Clarisse paused her movement when she noticed you pulled back. The two of you sat there, your noses barely touching. You closed your eyes, before letting your forehead touch hers.
“I can’t,” you whispered.
Before Clarisse could respond you abruptly got up. You didn’t look back as you rushed away, trying to put as much distance between you and her. You didn’t know if she understood, if she was hurt, all you knew was that she didn’t chase after you, and you were grateful for that. Your hands were shaking at the realization of what you just almost did. You couldn’t believe you had been so careless; you almost just threw away everything, your entire life.
Your conflicted and confused feelings were given so much clarity the second you walked away from her. You were attracted to Clarisse, you had been flirting with her, even if you hadn’t realized it, Phoebe had barely left the cabin and even she noticed it. You weren’t mad or hurt about Clarisse and Silena’s closeness when you thought they liked each other as more than friends, you were jealous. You were a Hunter of Artemis and for the first time in your thousand years of existence you had a crush.
