To the anon that sent me an ask about asking my thoughts about the tv show, Im so sorry but something happened and I think it got deleted 😭 But dw I would still answer it here-

So this would be a critism post and I want to make it clear that everyone is free to reblog and comment their thoughts freely, while being kind. Critism is valid and its not rude, but any bad comments or hateful remarks to any actor, especially child actors, would be deleted. I dont like blocking so dont make me please!

Okay to start, I would be so honest and say I did not find the show successful and I did not like it. I would explain all the reasons, but did it make me feel nostalgia a bit? Yes it did. Did it make me cry at the end? Yes :) I would add pros at the end. But first:

Cgi was really bad, I mean that claiming scene would be a laughing stock in a few years. Chimera? Nope- Medusa's hair also looked better in that movie in 2010. Also they avoided showing Grover's legs so much, also didn't even show us riptide's change...They got 15M per episode and if these are the results, then it is a problem. Background of Percy and Ares's fight- so so greenscreen. I wish Disney can take things seriously.

Lighting was so dark, especially for the lighting thief. Which was such a humor filled book and it was way too colorful. Why make it all so dark and lifeless?

Also humor? Way too low for pjo. "But we are not reading Percy's mind!" Yet, there were so many jokes in the books that could have been add, but they didn't. Yes there are some good jokes (pinecone fate) but to the standart, I expected to laugh way more. Its pjo!

Changes? Well to be honest I am a person who keeps book and show separate, I dont think they are the same at all. So I dont complain about the changes at much. But most of the changes were pointless to me and so many things left unsaid. I wish they didn't make Gabe way too soft. Children's show, yes. But then again, what would you do for later seasons if they cant even show Crusty's dead. Sally's real reason to marry Gabe never get explained, why? 4 pearls, why? Missing deadline? Totally pointless. Not mentioning Riptide's name? Chiron might have say it. Love tunnel? Now its a long one. Rick explained they couldn't do spiders and its hilarious, you gotta do sea monsters man- And instead of a chance to see an actual comedy: live on Olympus and Annabeth losing her shit. We get to see such a early scene of Percabeth drama. Why changing one of the funniest scene in the books to drama? You needed more edits for view or smt? Hephaestus falling over to the speech of friendship was nothing but cringe to me. Moving on, Thalia's acting to Annabeth. Why she is not nice to her and Annabeth had to earn her love. The point was Thalia to remember Jason and taking Annabeth under her wings immediatly bcs of it. Medusa's scene- Instead of us laughing to trio's silly behaviours and falling to her trap like little kids would, we get to hear a monster-hero talk. Yay another speech! Ovid's side of the story also bothered me. Greek mythology, why adding Ovid? Just us to sympatize with Medusa. Lotus Casino scene- We could have watch them have fun and going crazy but noo- they had do add more drama with Hermes. Did not see the point of his appearing either. Why is he there? I wanted to see them being children...And wanted to see the magic of the place!

Now if I move to characters, Percy's I know it all side is just annoying and adds no suspense to the viewers. What's the point if he knows everything already? "But his mom taught him!" But guys, remember, the whole point of pjo was: us to learn with Percy! We were learning the Greek myths with Percy, who is new to the world. They go somewhere and Percy immediatly: "You are Crusty, my mom told stories about you!" 😑 What a relief then! You tell us. Percy's sudden bravery at the end? Dude, he has 5 books for that.

Annabeth turning to a stoic child soldier? Suddenly goody-two shoes? Where are her emotions? Her fears? Her flaws? Her fricking love of architecture? She doesnt need to know everything to be smart girl. She had ADHD, she is 12! Ofc she was supposed to fall in traps. We should have watch her blushing as Luke talks, getting all wet by Percy in the toilet, she was supposed to our little girl. She is not just a badass queen yet, please. Give her personality back. Why she only smiled once at the end of the series? And not having a childhood, not even watched a movie? You guys cant be serious- She grew up in chb! She picked up strawberries, she played games and she watched movies when she was little, remember? She was not in legion... She is one of the most emotional characters, should we remind this to Rick and writers? She cries, she has feeling! Dam she was crying when they left Cerberus! She was a trouble-maker, she stole clothes, remember? Her portrayal was awful...

And about the Gods- Just..."He is trying to make them look awful at the beginning" Then why the hell it was only Athena? Almost turning her to second Zeus- Are you kidding me? You make her suddenly a child killer, when in the books she was nothing like that. Why making her worse, when other gods(Poseidon, Hermes, Hephaestus,Dionysus,Ares,Hades) seem way more human and nicer? You cant tell me he tries to make them worse when they are portrayed like that! No sir- Hephaestus is nice enough to release Percy after a friendship speech. Poseidon is suddenly a perfect dad, he is not sorry that Percy is born. Ares is just a dumb twitter bully, where in the books he was threating them to no end. And fricking Hades?! I am sorry but Hades like that- He should have been scary. But no, he is just a lonely cool guy. I thought he softened after Nico. Cant wait for the development now...

Other than that, one of my most important things: vibe. Sorry...Like I said, it was way too boring for pjo. Even that horrible movies had more vibe! Gimme the vibe!

Pacing? Has a problem and I hope they fix it. Episodes being too short? Also another issue.

Now for the chb, I was hoping to see more activity. Why the camp is not full of noisy kids running around, playing hide and seek like in the books, training wild around the areas, camfire and silly songs? Where are our children screaming and being ADHD demigods? Instead they play chess in the cabin- Please, give more life to chb.

Finally, for the things I liked:

Riptide song!!! That song is my favourite thing in the whole show- Like its soo good.

Seeing Sally's struggle to raise Percy. Also a plus for me. Because I was curious. Also adding Poseidon to the scene was okay. I loved that parts.

Young Percy did awesome and he was such a good actor :)

Percy's dreams were good, I loved seeing them. Congrats! Andd, child accurate cast. It was important. But I wish they hurry so then we wont have it anymore 😭

That was it! Like I said, I find it a bad show, as a fan of 12 years. I waited this for so many years. I was dreaming this. But sorry, bad show is a bad show. At least it did give me some nostalgia and it did make me cry at the end :) I hope they improve because it would suck if they get a cancel before season 5. The bad thing is, I feel they knew we pjo fandom wanted a show for years. And they knew we would eat the crumbs. Its just not fair, you know. They would like it anyway, type. They are not taking it as seriously as they should. With that budget, look at other shows with that budget. I know, its still a kids' show. But I dont think its an excuse for them to upset the fans who waited this long...

Books I’ve Read in 2022 - Part 2

11. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan (Book # 1 of The Heroes of Olympus)

I took a break from reading the Percy Jackson series and I’m kinda sad about because while he isn’t even in this book, this was such a fun read. I immediately loved Piper, Jason, and Leo, and learning about this new Roman camp as opposed to Camp Halfblood is intriguing. But the adventure to get these three to Camp Halfblood and then out on their quest to also help restore Jason’s memory is quite a story. And thankfully Leo’s sarcastic comments really help to cut tension in this book even if his own childhood is traumatic.

12. Vanished by Kat Richardson (Book #4 of the Greywalker Series)

Seeing a happy Harper Blaine who is committed to Quentin is a refreshing take in this novel compared to her unhappy relationship before, but having to go to London to safe her ex and his little brother was quite a leap and yet super satisfying and intriguing. Getting to see a little bit of Harper’s past and see how connected she was to the Grey even before she died is intriguing. I can’t wait to see that explored more though it looks like the vampires about to ramp up in the novels to come.

13. Essential Muir edited by Fred D. White

Another book I took from my previous office. I was expecting not to like it since I wasn’t that thrilled with Walden, but Muir, unlike Henry David Thoreau, really had some great descriptions of his travels and an appreciation of the world around him though all he did was travel. I also found that through his travels we learned a lot about how the early American wild was and how it interacted with his history. And while there is elitism and racism towards indigenous people, there is also a respect from Muir that makes this unexpected.  My only complaint (and yes this comes from the Landscape Architect) is I did not need paragraphs and paragraphs of Latin plant names that Muir sees everywhere he goes lol.

14. Daemons Are Forever by Simon R. Green (Book #2 of the Golden Torc Series)

I was really curious to see where these novels went since it felt like the climax of the series happened in book 1, but now that Eddie Drood is trying to rebuild his family’s estate and still save the world I found the novel surprisingly more interesting than I imagined and the stakes just as hyped as the first. The only weird part was connecting the Droods as early ancestors to the Deathstalkers from Green’s space opera. Once I get back to those it will be interesting to see how Giles time in modern England compares to his struggles in space.

15. The Travels of William Bartram

Another naturalist book I took from my previous company. I think by this point while I found these interesting, it was starting to wane on me and out of the three this is the one that didn’t keep me interested as much. Like Muir, Bartham really likes to go on about plants and while if you were a researcher that might be interesting, as a reader it is super boring and makes you fall asleep easier.

16. Doctor Who: Corpse Marker by Chris Boucher

Picking up right after the Robots of Death ends, the Doctor and Lela arrive at the same place just many years in the future. Here they find older versions of the men and women they save from the mining ship and learn that there is a new invention making the robots they fought before even more deadlier. It was a great way to build after the show though I was a little disappointed that I hadn’t quite gotten to this episode in my rewatch before reading it. I watched it shortly after though and it still connected really well in my opinion.

17. City of Night by Dean Koontz (Book #2 of the Frankenstein Series)

Having defeated their police captain, who Carson and Michael were horrified to learn was one of Victor’s creations, they now team up with his original monster now named Deucalion as they tackle the task of taking Frankenstein down. But the build up in this novel as both Carson and Michael are hunted and poor Artie is targeted by Victor’s autistic creature is palpable and page turning. Now that things are ramping up in danger too, Koontz suspense is in all its glory and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next novel.

18. Night of Many Dream by Gail Tsukiyama

I never realized that Hong Kong also got invaded by Japan when they invaded parts of China. Maybe it is because I still consider Hong Kong so separate that this never occurred me and unfortunately this isn’t well taught. But this novel was so interesting not only because of its history but because it was focused on the perspectives of two daughters and their aunt and their own individual struggles of relocating to Macao and how that changes them. Then as we see them all get older and deal with the beginnings of World War II, getting into the  Chinese film industry, and the struggles of immigrating to America, we get insight into so many ideas and deep feelings of what connects all of us and it is really beautiful.

19. An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

This has been on my list for years and I generally enjoyed it and am very curious as to what happens next because the sci-fi part of the story really intrigues me. And while I like the deep dives and thoughts from April on fame and how media creates the problems we face as a modern society, I personally had a hard time relating to her just because I really don’t use a lot of social media and generally don’t care about numbers (hence why I am here lol.). 

20. Doctor Who: The Ruby’s Curse by Alex Kingston

Who better to write a song about River Song than the woman who plays her! Alex knows her voice so well that it really is hard not to hear River speaking throughout the entire novel, whether that be her actual self or her fictional Melody Malone. While the story got very wibbly wobbly towards the end I also appreciated that this played with twists in space more than other novels and that River got her own awesome adventure that was solely just being an outlaw.

And played 18 games; favorites being Metroid Dread, Gris, and Animal Crossing New Horizons. I also started Duolingo, and was a top 1% language learner, but I think that says more about their participation statistics than my XP score.

Finally, I also made a Redbubble Shop account and it actually sold some items, omg. (the most popular being the Pokémon stickers, and mugs)

Well I owe him an apology. Over thinking he was pandering to the hate mob as well as my stupid attitude.

However I still stand by a lot of what I said: He missed a LOT of opportunities to make a good point and instead went with the lowest common denominator stuff. Like with making the joke about Weiss hating Ruby. It’s not funny because the joke is based on heavily outdated information and is just blatantly untrue.

There’s a reason why his ‘Welcome to *Website*’ videos are funny. Because while it is an exaggeration of what happens on the websites, it’s still basically true. Humor works when it strikes hard, either by throwing something so absurd at you that you’re forced to laugh because you don’t understand it, so raunchy that you laugh at the absurdity in which something so wrong was said so earnestly or by saying something so true that you’re forced to laugh to make light of the situation.

Jello’s video doesn’t do any of that. It either says a bunch of basic stuff that doesn’t work with knowledge or is saying things in a satricial way that people , EARNESTLY say, basically invoking Poe’s Law on himself. (The law of ‘Without a clear indication, a satire of X can easily been taken as an earnest belief in X.’)

This isn’t to say I was justified in what I did: it’s just even in a rational state of mind, the video is too flawed to be funny.

okay so The Lightning Thief closed today

and this show and the series it’s based on mean so much to me, and I’m gonna ramble so I’m making this a read more

Annabeth Chase is the character I’ve identified with from day 1 when I first read the books in third grade (I think), and when asked what characters I’d use to describe myself, she’s at the top of the list

I went to the book tour for the final Heroes of Olympus book and I have signed editions for all the books that have come out since then (thank you B&N Black Friday signed editions)

I went through that PJO/HoO phase right before I was in my first show, then, 3 or so more shows later and a decision to go into musical theatre as a career, I find this musical

and I just... it was a sign to me, you could say, that I was going down the right path and a full circle moment from the first second (I found out about it towards the end of the off-broadway run, before the cast recording was even released)

I used My Grand Plan in my college auditions and it got me where I am now (I’ve performed it twice in recitals since then)

also all of my MT friends in college know it’s my favorite show because I talk about it too much

All I can hope for is to get cast in a tour of this show, a revival, (even as an understudy/swing) or a show with any of its cast, that would be a dream

I’m just so sappy for this show that means so much to me and has led me to make friends I wouldn’t have met otherwise (specifically shout out to Nina who is easily my oldest friend I met because of this show)

Jack the Friendship-Killer

Jack Kline can be refracted through several folkloristic lenses to get a deeper understanding of his character. The first lens is that of the Jack character of English and American folklore-- sometimes a giant killer through his innocence and good intentions, at other times too cunning for his own good. How do we understand Jack now that he’s burned off an unknown quantity of his soul?

Jack of “Jack and the Beanstalk” and Jack from “Jack the Giant Killer” are subtly different heroes. Beanstalk Jack is not particularly clever-- in fact it is his naivete that starts the whole escapade in the first place. He believes that he’s been given magic beans, whereas common sense (personified by his mother) says that Jack was just conned and in fact had impoverished his family beyond recovery. Beanstalk Jack’s adventures don’t stem from him being particularly smart or strong-- while he is able to climb down the beanstalk with various treasures and then chop it down and thus kill the giant, his main skills seem to be his ability to sneak around and run fast, and to be really, really lucky

Jack the Giant-Killer, however, is a deadly clever and impressively strong young man-- the son of a farmer who sets out to kill a local giant and upon finding his first success, makes that his vocation. In the story of the Giant Killer, Jack meets a series of giants, and defeats them through a combination of brains and brawn.

The fourth giant Jack GK meets is a two-headed giant in Wales. Let me make sure I have my Jack Giants in order…yeah that’s giant #4. This giant plans to do him in by poison, but Jack outwits him and foils his plan. In the morning, the giant serves him a hasty pudding. Jack takes a sack and ties it to his waist and fills it with the pudding. Standing up, he shows the giant a trick-- he slices the bag under his shirt and all the hasty pudding falls out, but Jack is obviously unharmed. Not wanting to be outdone, the Welsh giant slices open his own belly, but falls down dead. Jack the Giant-killer has established himself as a professional liar at this point.

In another “episode,” however, he befriends the son of King Arthur, who is a paragon of generosity and gives away his last twopence in order for a dead man to be put to rest. Jack is so impressed by the prince that he becomes his manservant and in order to procure a meal and a place to sleep, he rides ahead to the home of another giant. To this giant he tells a half-truth, that the son of King Arthur is on his way with a force of a thousand men. The giant is so terrified that he has Jack lock him up until King Arthur’s son had passed, and Jack GK and the prince spend a fine night in the giant’s castle. The giant was so grateful that he hadn’t been slain that he offers Jack anything in his possession, (much as the gods of Olympus gave Perseus gifts in Clash of the Titans.) Jack takes a coat of invisibility, a cap of knowledge, a sword that could cut anything, and peculiarly speedy boots. These items help Jack and the prince out in their next set of adventures.

Jack Kline is poised as Jack the Giant Killer in his story, now. He has gifts-- his unusual nephilianic powers-- and has discovered a new one: the power of deceit.

Jack GK’s adventures shift, however, once he has befriended the son of King Arthur. Instead of wandering the countryside looking for giants to slay, with the prince he encounters a lady who has been enchanted to serve the devil himself; it is she whom the prince set out to save in the first place. Jack commits himself to his prince’s quest, and uses his giant-gifts to save her, and she in the end marries Arthur’s son and Jack goes on to have more adventures. During the rescue of the prince’s lady, Jack uses his giant-gifts to best Lucifer but it’s important to realize that he does not resort to any of his old tricks-- while the magical items do give him an advantage, he doesn’t cheat nor lie in his typical manner to help his friend the prince. Once the prince’s quest is over, Jack is made a knight of the Round Table and strikes out on his own again and gets back to his old tricks, and soon finds a lady of his own to rescue and marry.

Our Jack, however, has no superlative companion to serve. He has father figures, true, but it’s a key point in the Giant-Killer story that the prince is a companion, a friend-- as Jack is introduced as the son of a farmer and the prince as the son of a king, it can be argued that they are of the same age. With Maggie gone and the Lebanon Kids alienated, Jack has no companions to look up to to keep him in line. He has no peers. Even God was not a singular entity (barring the time that he had Amara locked up.) This innate isolation may be his salvation, or his undoing.

We were offered a second lens through which to analyze Jack. As Donatello said, he’s the most powerful being in the universe (absent Chuck and Amara I guess?) and his mind is impossible to know. The MOTW that we were given in an episode about Jack trying to make friends was a singular creature, perhaps the only one of his kind at all, who had devoured his family and been turned from an ordinary, human kind of monster into an extraordinary, supernatural one as a punishment, because Henry Parker, who cannibalized his family, had felt no remorse for what he’d done. In fact, he continued to do it even after the winter had passed. Since he felt no remorse, the elders of the tribe who punished him imposed remorse upon him in the form of eternal hunger, a hunger that would literally destroy him if not assuaged.

Interestingly, There seems to be no remorse in Jack-- in fact, he chose to lie about his time alone in Lebanon rather than face any consequences that might be imposed upon him by his elders. He seemed to feel that Stacy’s encounter with his angel blade was her own fault, and the way I read the scene was that after he healed her he expected the group’s complete approval (even adoration?) once more. His mistake did not seem to impact him.

The third and most complicated lens through which we can try to divine Jack’s new nature is one that was invoked many times. Perez seems to have totally made up his Native creature rather than draw further from Native mythology or legends. I can find neither hide nor hair of any such thing as a Kohoka; Perez appears to have created it based on the Wendigo, although Kohoka is a place name mentioned in the Journals of Lewis and Clark, and there is a Kahoka, Missouri, which was named after the Cahokia tribe of the Illinois confederacy, so I suspect he came across something SOMEWHERE? At any rate, the Kahoka can be classified as “probably made up,” but Sheriff Romero obliquely invoked Coyote many times in the episode. So many times that I’ll bet that seven more mentions of coyotes were left on the editing bay floor after this episode was filmed. I’m not going to do a big meta about Coyote, but here are some very important and relevant stories. Despite what you might read, Coyote was not monolithic. Coyote was for some nations a trickster, for others a fool, and for many he was the old man who made the world. In my opinion Coyote stories are among the best you’ll ever read. Many if not most stories about Coyote are religious in nature.

From the Rubble. It's a AU version of season 5 episode 22 and I love it because it challenges me to have to look up things and is emotional and angsty.

Um I read HOO and had to wait for the next book. No one I knew liked it so I started looking for things relating to it, like edits. Stumbled on fanfiction and thought "I like writing. I'll try this."

Favorite Fanfiction (That I’ve Written)

I’ve decided to link my Top 10 Faves out of a total of 108 fanfiction stories between my Fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own profiles. I do have some stories that are on both platforms, but there are plenty of stories that are exclusive to either website. Not all of my work on there is perfect, I’ve not always edited my work and I’ve been doing this for 12 years (though I think the oldest work I’ve left posted is from 2011). As I’ve gotten older, the work quality has improved, but that being said - this list is going to be the stories I’m most proud of and felt the happiest with when I was finished writing them.

So I’ll tag the story, include the fandom and the summary below the linked title. These are in no particular order. I will also have a small, bolded explanation why each story has made it onto this list. 1. A Hazard to Myself

(Harry Potter, Post-War)

This song!fic inspired by "Don't Let Me Get Me" by P!NK showcases Draco Malfoy reflecting with and talking to his psychiatrist - because he's not handling life after the war very well. TW: Mentions of alcohol abuse and self-harm, only in passing with absolutely no details of those acts.

This piece is one of those stories where the ending line was so powerful to me, and that song meant so much to me growing up, that I can’t ever read it without getting chills. Perhaps it could have been written better with fewer constraints, but the impact of it doesn’t change for me. This story always moves me every time I revisit it.

2. Dear Reader

(Harry Potter, Golden Era)

(5th Year - Assumed/Slight AU) Hermione decides the Hogwarts Library needs a piece of Muggle literature. Even though she doesn't expect anyone to find it, let alone respond to it, she is surprised when it is sent back to her within a couple of days – and with a letter, wouldn't you believe it? {rated based on future chapters}

This was the first wildly popular story I’d done in my fanfiction career. I even entered it into a contest to have it published after reworking it as an original piece. However, I was naive at the time and I didn’t edit it enough to get the votes. Still, it remains one of my favorites because I took something I loved from two different stories and made it my own so much so that it was wildly well received. I will always be proud of what I accomplished with this story.

3. Forever & Always, Clara

(Doctor Who, 12th Doctor)

This piece is a letter written to the Doctor as a means for Clara to say a proper and final farewell to the man who has so radically defined her life.

This was just a personal piece. I didn’t write it for any particular reason other than I was inspired to do so. I loved these characters together and by themselves separately. Losing them on the show was difficult and I wanted a more solid closure. I wrote this entirely for myself but I felt that, despite the distinct lack of popularity, it was still a good piece all together.

4. I Don’t F-cking Care

(Carry On)

This fanfiction depicts the struggles that Simon Snow and Baz Grimm-Pitch experience in their relationship that starts with them being enemies, how their timing is never quite right, and big life changes that force them to reassess what truly matters when it comes to their love for each other. ! Please review disclaimer thoroughly prior to reading this piece to avoid triggers !

Thanks to my good friend @ouranose - I got into the Carry On fandom. I had already read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, so it wouldn’t have been long before I got into it on my own, but she jumpstarted the process. It’s been a great time, of course, and one of my comfort fandoms now. What I really enjoyed about this one was that it was dark and imperfect and realistic and true to the blurry nature of their relationship. It’s one of the longest one-shot pieces I’ve ever written, and for that reason alone, on of those stories I’ll never forget. I put a lot of work into it and I think it shows.

5. Library Kisses

(Harry Potter, Golden Era)

This story details the romance of Hermione and Harry after a late night kiss through the Battle of Hogwarts. Hermione, Harry and Ron learn about each other and evolve as couples and friends along the way. Rated T, but may contain some M chapters.

Yikes? I shouldn’t start this by saying ‘yikes’ about the story. I wrote this many years ago, when I was very young (18 years old, just out of high school). I had a child in high school and drew heavily on the experience of being an intelligent woman who made a mistake and incorporated that into this story. It diverts from the canon quite a bit, but with this being the oldest story I’ve written available online, I think it shows that I’ve always had the skill and the drive to pursue writing as career opportunity. I love to do this, and despite my many pitfalls as an 18-year-old writer, this story has 73,368 views anyway. It is still, to this day, my third most popular story on Fanfiction.net and I’m okay with that because we should always be proud of where we started.

6. Little Talks

(Merlin, BBC)

This fic follows Merlin and Morgana from the first day they begin to fall in love until their first day together in the afterlife. Based off of the song by Of Monsters and Men. Rated T For - Brief death scene, suggestive adult themes.

Hands down, this has got to be favorite fanfiction piece that I’ve ever written. I was trying to do a lot with this story, and I think I was successful in most every front, though I wish I had edited it better at the time. It started out as a passion project and ended up being a comfort one. I hated the way Merlin ended and felt that I could write a better story - which wasn’t the first time I had ever felt that way, but the first time I ever executed those emotions to do something. It’s not my most popular piece, having written this towards the end of the Merlin fandom’s lifespan, but it doest rank among the top 10 pieces with the most traffic. I felt very connected to the song, the show, and the outline of this story. It’s also the first piece of fanfiction my husband ever read and felt was done better than the show (which is hard to do because he’s a canon-only-verse kind of guy). I’ll never not love this story.

7. Just One Yesterday

(Supernatural)

I've been hiding from him. I don't even think of him by name. I miss him but now that I'm a monster I don't think I can ever be close to him again. I am so afraid of the consequences of implicating him any further... But I just can't stop being there for him... I need him... {T for moderate violence; regular swearing; major character death}

This is yet another passion piece. I had outlined it during my lunch breaks at work, or when I was waiting for X, Y, or Z to finish loading on the computer. Am I proud to have done this is stolen moments? Not really. But the outcome is an emotional piece that I think really captured how I’ve always felt about the ship (Destiel). The stats for this piece are abysmal, but that means nothing to me because I felt awesome about the story I was telling.

8. In The Summer...

(Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus)

The seasons used to mean something very different to Nico, but those days are gone. And he wants Percy Jackson to know that he's moved on.

This is a poem that I wasn’t even meant to write. I had asked a friend to write it (That’s @ouranose again because she’s pretty much the only friend I’ve got). But in the end, she lost the lines she had crafted for it, I think, and it fell off the metaphorical production board. When we started this PJO/HOO series of poems, I took on the task instead because I loved the idea of it so much. I did much better than I expected, having never written anything substantial for PJO/HOO before, and for that reason I’ll always be proud of the way I show the changing of feelings towards someone that you used to love.

9. Make Memories

(Girl Meets World)

Excerpt/Summary: Shawn and Katy decide that Maya should make memories before her senior year of high school. They decide to send her to a camp out of state for six weeks so that she can experience life that is different from the city.

Lucas decides that it's time to do something for himself. After seeing an article about a six week camp out of state he decides to register and take a chance.

Unfortunately, Maya finds herself shacking up with an all-too familiar face after a transcription error by the receptionist of the camp.

“They thought your name was Luna?” Maya questions.

Goodness, where do I even start? After I had my son, I found a book a few years afterward and it was about a pregnant teenager who has to make the decision to have a baby or have an abortion. There’s so much more to the book and I loved reading it, but I drew from that story a bit to craft this Girl Meets World piece that allowed me to really be original more than most any other piece I’ve ever done. It is popular enough for a dead fandom, still getting more views and kudos every week at a slow rate. I was just proud that I could take elements from both of these shows that I loved and craft a romance that was focused on the emotional aspect of loving someone without making it too sexualized.

10. An Untitled Tomco

(Star vs. The Forces of Evil)

A Tomco where Star accidentally gives Marco hypothermia and calls upon Tom to keep him warm while she finds a cure.

I have never watched a single episode of Star vs. The Forces of Evil. Someone made a request for me to write it and I researched the characters and the ship. I wanted to craft this believable story seamlessly, as if I had seen it and knew all there was to know. And, by some miracle, it worked! This is one of the most popular stories on my Archive of Our Own despite not having been there nearly as long as the three others that surpass it’s viewership. I felt that I had done very good work and made the most of the research that I had done to craft this story. It’s one of those experiences that reminded me that I’m more than capable as a writer and that I can do anything when I’ve set myself to it.

Solangelo Thoughts and Nico's Confession To Percy

Not Edited. Okay, I ship Solangelo. It's kind of hard not to, but if you don't, I get it. Like many people, my issue is that it doesn't seem realistic. We all wanted Nico to be happy, and so did Rick Riordan, but I don't understand how he decided 'six months is definitely a good amount of time for Nico to open up, befriend Will, become open about his sexuality, get into a relationship with someone who isn't afraid of it being known...' was actually plausible. I just don't see it. Solangelo seems like a great idea but COME ON, it's NICO. Nico wants to be happy but you can't just fix all his problems with a snap of your fingers. I think it would be insanely more appropriate if Solangelo wasn't actually canon yet. Like, maybe Nico and Will have a thing for each other, maybe it's been extremely hinted at, but in no way would Nico have recovered so much that he's dating Will and everyone just knows and Nico doesn't even flinch at the fact that everyone knows, Also, the scene when Nico tells Percy about his crush. Nu uh. It's cute, it's like, 'Go Nico' and you probably felt like how Annabeth is described, just smiling a ton, but I feel like there should have been a talk, you know? Or at least a suggestion of 'we'll talk about this later' because while not all crushes need to be explained or have such importance (we don't need Rachel, for example, to explain her attraction to Percy because except for Annabeth's jealousy, it isn't really an issue), this one does. Nico's crush? Hella important. And I don't even use the word 'hella'. I mean, Percy is probably seeing a third dimension to every interaction Nico and him have had. Well, maybe not every, but a lot. Because even thing I don't think Rick Riordan planned to make Nico homosexual originally, it really gives a different air to a lot of the scenes in PJO. I also think Percy would realize that he didn't do well by Nico. I'm going to post about that in just a bit, so yeah. Back to Solangelo: I want to see Nico and Will becoming friends. I want Nico to be able to refer to Will as 'one of his best friends' and for them to both be super happy that Nico can say that. I want the underlying affection in gestures that screams they like each other but that they aren't ready to step into that whole mess quite yet. This would, in truth, probably take a year, maybe more, because of who Nico is. And I understand that Nico became fast friends with Reyna, but that worked. I haven't seen a single person doubt that Reyna and Nico's friendship was awesome. The circumstances, the problems they had at the time, their quest, their personalities, it all worked SO well. That, I feel, is realistic, because even if they didn't have such a long time, it seems pretty much fated that they get along. They needed each other. When it comes to romance, Nico first needs a friend, not a nearly immediate partner (which is why I hate Three Days in the Infirmary fics when they get together those three days, like, wth). I like the whole Nico and Jason connection, although tell me not, you probably felt super awkward when you read the Cupid Reveal scene and Jason's just there, and Jason didn't even trust Nico beforehand even if he was thinking 'poor Nico, I wonder how he managed' thoughts during the scene. It's weird. But Jason is pretty good at showing he cares and that would totally work with Nico and becoming friends, given more time. So yeah. I think that if Rick Riordan were to make side book for The Heroes of Olympus there should be some Nico-Centric stuff, because he's a really interesting character. Probably something about Nico and Will being friends, the bond between Reyna and Nico, and a talk between Nico and Percy.

1. What made you pick up the last book you started reading? I’m reading two books right now! The first one, Empire of Storms, I picked up because it’s the next book in the series I’m loving and I was already halfway done, but then I moved and had to return it. The second book, Blood of Olympus, I picked back up because I realized I never finished the series once college started. 

2. Have you received any bad or troubling news lately? I’ve had to go to the BMV three times without being able to get my car titled, so that’s been fun. 

3. When was the last time you were relieved about something? Yesterday when we made it to the fireworks show on time! 2017 was not as organized. 

4. What about your life concerns you the most? Um... I guess where I’ll be living in October. 

5. Is there a common thing most people seem to do without trouble, but it scares you (talking on the phone, driving, interviews, etc)? When was the last time you had to do one of these kinds of things? Driving. Especially on the interstate. I’m terrified of it. I’ve never been pulled over, never gotten myself in an accident, never gotten a ticket, I even use my turn signal in parking lots haha. Still, after the accident I was in in high school, it’s terrifying to think that no matter how skilled of a driver I am, I can still die in an instant because of someone else’s mistake. 

6. Is a pen pal something you would enjoy? If so, what kinds of little things would you send your pen friends? I always wanted one growing up, but then my old friends would write me letters and I am the actual worst at responding to people. I don’t think it would last very long. 

7. Describe a time when you were there for a friend? I usually like to take the distraction approach. I’ll get them to talk about what’s bothering them, help them come up with a plan if it’s something solvable, and then do something fun to cheer them up or keep their minds off of it, like taking them out for lunch or ice cream or disc golfing. 

8. When was the last time you went somewhere for the first time? Yesterday, I went to a fireworks display at a Fort I’d never been to. 

9. What is a situation that makes you feel especially confident? Whenever I’m doing something secretarial, aka editing someone’s paper, showing off my typing speed, writing a marketing blurb, updating someone’s resume, or being anywhere relating to books. 

10. What was the subject of your most recent conversation? Michael and Noah telling me the hot dogs were done grilling and telling me to come watch a movie with them. 

11. Hypothetically and generally speaking, how would you go about breaking up with someone? Is there anything you would make sure to say, or perhaps not say? W o w. I hate hurting people’s feelings, so I’m incredibly bad at it. I try never to place blame on the other person and just speak of things in a broad and futuristic manner like “ It’s just not feasible when I’m leaving for school” “We’re just not in the same place in our lives” “ I just feel like we’re going down different paths”. I always like to try to add something about how I wish them happiness and point out some of their good relationship traits or say how I enjoyed my time with them. I honestly probably sound like a talk show host. I also almost always add the “I hope we can still be friends” line (except once) but I surprisingly am only friends with the only ex who ever broke up with me. 

12. Are you more of a night person or a day person? What is it about the night/day that you favor? I like the night because I am more creative and fireflies, but I also like the day because I love soaking up the sun and swimming. 

13. What do you find particularly offensive? Would you say you’re easy or difficult to offend? People making any sort of comment that is degrading of my intelligence or purposefully hurtful toward another person. Thankfully, it hasn’t happened in a long time. I would say I’m on the sensitive end of being offended when it comes to rude remarks. 

14. Is there a belief you have that most others around you don’t have? Do you share this belief with others, or do you tend to keep it to yourself? Have you ever offended anyone with this belief? Yeah. I’m a Christian and have been involved in various Republican and pro-life campaigns and events over the years, which seems an uncommon alignment to have on Tumblr. I'm rather opinionated about politics since it’s related to my career goals, but I don’t usually bring it up outside of those events unless asked. If people are offended by my blog, they don’t have to follow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

15. Do you consider internet friendships as important as offline friendships, or do you view them differently?

I think offline friendships take priority when I schedule my week, but that both are extremely important. Moving so much has me communicating with most of my friends via the Internet anyway. 

16. When was the last time you visited relatives or friends of the family? Is visiting family something you enjoy? I visited with plenty of them at my wedding, and will be going to visit with them next weekend for the annual hog roast. I really enjoy it, but it always makes me so tired. 

17. What did you do for the last holiday or event you celebrated? Fourth of July! We went to a fireworks display last night, are watching classic “Fourth of July” movies, grilling out and baking, and hopefully launching off some of our own fireworks with our sparklers. 

18. If you’ve moved out from home, what was the scariest thing about it? What was/is your favorite thing about it? The scariest thing about moving out originally was really just moving somewhere where I didn’t know anyone. My favorite thing was having freedom to become my own person.

19. Are there any fictional characters you like even though they’re “bad” or “evil?” What qualities draw you to a character? Bellamy Blake s1. Lorcan from TOG. The antagonist in my own story. Eugene Fitzherbert. I’m a sucker for the reluctant hero trope. 

20. What are your thoughts on “forgiving” murderers, rapists, attackers, etc? Do you think it’s even possible to forgive these people? If they are truly sorry and actively trying to spend the rest of their life showing they have changed, then yes. However, forgiveness absolutely does not mean they should not be brought to justice and pay for their actions. 

21. What was the last series you finished watching? Do you have any plans to begin another? Everwood. I just started watching Freaks and Geeks, Harlots, and Handmaid’s Tale, but I’m only liking Freaks and Geeks so far. 

22. What is one way in which you are different from a year ago? What is one way in which you are still the same? I feel like I’ve learned to be more comfortable in my own skin, and the importance of fitness and eating right and being organized and showing initiative. I’m still the same in that I still get just as excited about fireflies and I still fall a little bit in love with everyone I meet. 

23. When was the last time you had to walk somewhere in the rain? How about the snow? Last week at a Pokemon Go event in the rain and.... wow, maybe to my car on my way to work in the snow back in February?

24. Are there any types of survey questions you dread or don’t like answering for whatever reason? What kinds of questions do you like best? I don’t like the same questions over and over, usually like “ Who was the last person you kissed? Do you miss them? Do you wish you could be with them?”. I love the ones that are unique and make you stop and think. 

25. If you could learn about anything without the stress of grades or cost, what kind of classes would you take? Italian in a classroom setting would be great. Also painting. 

26. What was the last item of clothing you purchased? Do you wear it often? A blue lingerie set. I wore it once and it feels like wearing a cloud.

27. Has anything made you feel nostalgic lately? Reading the posts I made on Tumblr today all the way back to 2014.
