PREVIOUS CHAPTER - NEXT CHAPTER | MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Y/N was sat in the couch, looking at her screen but not really paying attention. She was angry and heartbroken, yet her heartbreak seemed to win over all the other emotions as fat tears rolled down her plump cheeks in silent sobs. All she knew was she was absolutely in pain, her own body betraying her as it reminded her of the ghost touches of his hands, how his lips felt kissing her kissing with the warmth of him. She thought she knew Bucky but at this moment, all she really knew was he wasn’t here and she wanted him to be here. She wouldn’t even care if he made snarky comments or called her kid. She wanted him to stay, she wanted him to chose her but wanting is for children and dreaming is for the naive.
Her sobs silenced as she heard the door being open, Will making his way in with his boyish smile, probably love sick. At least one of them was lucky yet Y/N herself couldn’t help but think he was as trapped as she was. They couldn’t that apart in age, they didn’t differ too much and maybe in another life they’d even attended university together. No, he was just as trapped as she was, she just couldn’t explain how.
    - Where’s Bucky?
    - He left. - she looked down to the ground, not daring to look at the only person to call friend. Her cheeks were still puffy, she still looked like she had been crying.
    - So soon? Why?
    - We had a falling out. - she played with the edges of her nail, resisting the urge to bite them.
Will furrowed his eyebrows at her, the curls of his dirty blonde hair bopping up and down as he made his way towards the couch. He softly set his hand on her shoulder, towards which she leaned her head, wanting a friendly and warm touch to recover. He turned and sat on the couch by her side, throwing some pillows and other things laying on the couch onto the ground.
    - Do you wanna talk about it?
    - I’m really okay, Will. Just a bit emotional.
    - You ought to leave this place, it’s so ... - Will looked around, trying to find something nice to say about the enforcer’s flat but he simply could not. - So bland. You should join me at Wellington’s soiree, Amy extended an invitation towards my family.
    - Amy? Then you should go with her. - her mood lightened, guidingly cozying up to Will. - I didn’t know it was going that well.
   - I can’t go with her, it’s protocol. But, you should come. The Baron is going to be there and so is John.
   - I’m afraid I don’t do well at parties.
   - What are you talking about? You do extremely well at them, you’re the talk off the town. Well, the talk of the mob world.
   - You’re just being nice.
   - If not for that then you must go so I can impress Amy.
   - You needn’t do that.
   - Why do you think so? - he protruded but Y/N remained in her girly energy, with a little puckered smile.
   - Call it female intuition.
   - Promise me you’ll go with me. - he tickled her sides. - You have to. Everyone is so old and so stuffy.
    - I’ll go so that Amy can take you away from me as long as John allows it.
The two remained in the living room, mindlessly getting lost in whatever was in the television before Bucky returned home; however, Y/N was already asleep by the time he arrived. It seemed that would be their last interaction as days passed and the two constantly missed each other or only got small glimpses of what one was doing. She would see him returning at night, lipstick stained and while her mind refused to believe the obvious, it was no doubt her heart clenched every time she saw him. Bucky on the other hand saw her as if the universe was punishing him, he’d seen her out of the bath, wrapped in his monogramed towels or sleeping on his bed. The two avoided each other as well they could while living under a one bedroom apartment. Where else could she run?
The two only finally saw each other for more than a couple of seconds when the dreaded soiree night arrived. She knew he was going, she’d heard him talk about it on the phone with whom she could only guess was Aveline. Bucky was busy on the phone when she walked into the common area in a midnight blue pencil dress which appeared to shine when the light hit the fabric. Her hair was pushed up and braided in a plait across the crown of her head. The neckline of her dress was pluming, almost hitting her belly button and giving just the slightest peak off the side of her bosom. In the middle descended a silver chain encrusted with shinning jewels.
    - Where ... - he interrupted himself to swallow in empty. - Where are you going? You’re not coming with me tonight.
    - I’m going with Will. He’s waiting for me downstairs and before you say anything, John said it was okay if I went. The Baron’s going to be at the soiree, you know?
    - Y/N it is not a good idea.
    - If only I valued your opinion. - she turned away from him, opening the door to meet Will who accompanied her downstairs and into the car. Bucky’s eyes burned on them, however, something else burned within him. Something consuming, something destructive ... green fire, if one could say.
The party was grand, grander than the ones she’d been at with an air of exuberance and pure excess off money. Towers off champagne glasses were scattered around the room, many people talking to each other while a live orchestra played. All she could think of was her childish dreams of wanting to sing at these parties yet now that dream seemed to far. She could barely remember the last time she’d sang or attempted to. William accompanied her in and while she was much more into the ambience, Bucky could see what effect she had on everyone. Turns out he wasn’t the only one who thought her breath taking as everyone turned to watch her; the one shy girl dressed in white, walking into the room in midnight blue commanding the attention she rightfully deserved.
Her gaze however was broken once she noticed a black haired woman approach Bucky dressed in a red dress. Suddenly the slow nature of everything was interrupted and now everything was faster. She was ushered into the crowd by a bunch of people demanding to know her name; however, all she could see was Bucky smiling at the woman in red and in no time, she was alone in the same crowd which demanded to know her.
    - I am sure Miss Y/N has had enough of your attention Mr. Archibald. - Aveline interrupted the man who had been chatting to her for the past minutes, yet Y/N herself had been more interested in looking at the the couple talking in front of her. - Men cannot control themselves the moment they see some skin.
    - Surely. - she replied, turning her eyes away from Bucky to look at Aveline who in typical fashion was wearing a purple dress. - If you’re here to embarrass me, you needn’t do so.
    - Why must you make me your enemy? I am not here to embarrass you.
    - Then why are you here? Are you too setting your sights on the woman in red?
    - No matter how annoyingly naive you are, Y/N, you are much better company than Dolores Adams. - she took a sip of her champagne. - Can’t say I’m particularly surprised. He always goes back to what’s familiar.
    - What do you mean?
    - First girlfriend, politician family, a bit of a fame seeker but she was always his daddy’s favourite match. - Y/N never enjoyed gossip too much yet she couldn’t help but feel so incredibly drawn into her words. - It’s up to him to tell you but you shouldn’t sulk about it. Not when you’re here.
    - Don’t mock me.
    - I am not mocking you. Look around. - the two woman looked around the room, to those men who were so deemed powerful, their wives and mistresses. - Even if you do survive this and they let you go, you’ll never go back to your old life. You know too much.
    - Instead of mocking me, you are only bulldozing my hopes? Are you so upset about losing James, you’re attacking me?
    - You know what’s funny? The mob terminology, the underboss, the bosses, the capos. It’s all so ... masculine. It’s quite stupid really when all the decisions in this room have been made by women.
She wrapped her arm around Y/N’s and starting walking more into the crowd and away from Bucky and Dot where Y/N’s gaze had been so trained in.
   - My father is only who he is because my mother’s a great strategist. While men are so busy thinking we’re pretty things, we’re busy building an empire. They might be the mob bosses but we are high ladies.
   - You might be but I’m definitely not.
   - You were brash enough to dally with my father, you’ve clearly in the Baron’s high regards. Forget James, forget your naive spirits, you negotiated like a high lady, now be a high lady.

Some Assembly Required: a Rottmnt story
Remember this post? Well, I decided to clean up what I had and show it to y’all. This was supposed to be a much longer story, but back when I was writing it, I jumped ship for a different fic I was working on and never came back OTL Characters: Donnie, Mikey, Raph, Leo, April, Shelldon, Draxum, Huginn & Muninn (albeit super brief) Tags: Lab accidents, fires, minor injuries, hurt/comfort, obscure UHF reference I won’t be uploading this to Ao3, so you can read it under the cut :U
For the longest time, Donnie dreamed of the perfect lab partner. Though Shelldon was an impeccable assistant, there were moments where Donnie longed to work side-by-side with another scientist. Someone with a thirst for knowledge! Someone who shared his passion for all things technical and methodical; a scientist, just like he considered himself to be!
To think Baron Draxum would be Donnie's long-awaited lab partner was not a scenario the Softshell had ever fathomed. Still, it was one he accepted with great enthusiasm.
Draxum and Donnie saw no reason to doubt their capabilities. However, the rest of the family remained wary whenever the two of them went off meddling in the lab. With April's help, Raph, Leo, and Mikey devised a strict set of guidelines to ensure Donnie and Draxum wouldn't get into too much trouble.
"Scoff!" Donnie threw the hefty packet of rules down at his feet, offended. "What do you take us for: a pair of unhinged Frankensteins? Y'know, it'd be nice if, just for once, you guys would have a little faith in our scientific endeavors!"
"It's not that we don't trust you guys," April explained, "It's just... you guys tend to get a little carried away with your projects, that's all!"
"What's that suppose to mean?"
"The last time Barry was in a lab, he created the Oozesquitos," April folded her arms, "And don't get me started about the time you messed with your brother's brains."
"Okay! I get it!" Donnie sighed. He picked up the packet of rules and flapped the dust out from its pages. "We won't get carried away: Todd scout's honor."
April smiled, "Thanks, Dee."
"Yes, well, if you'll excuse me, Draxum and I were just about to partake in our latest  scientific acquisition: Professor Philo's Chemistry Set for the At-Home Scientist!" Donnie started off for his lab, tucking the packet into a compartment in his battle-shell.
April shook her head, smiling as she headed inside the living room, where the sounds of 8-bit gaming welcomed her. Raph and Mikey were too invested in whatever racing game they were playing to notice April.
"Soo, how'd it go?" Leo asked from his beanbag chair. "Is Donnie mad that we're afraid he'll bring Potatozilla into existence or what?"
"I say he handled it pretty well!" April plopped herself down in the recliner. "I told Donnie that we just wanted to make sure he and Draxum toned it down a bit, that's all."
"See? I told you he'd listen to April!" Mikey grinned smugly at Leo.
Leo rolled his eyes, "Whatever." He went back to scrolling his social feed on his phone, "I'll believe it when they don't create a giant mutant potato or somethin'."
"Be nice, Leo," April swung her legs over the armrest. "We've gotta have a little faith in 'em. Besides, I've never seen Donnie this happy since-"
KA-BOOOOOOM!!!
A powerful tremor shook the lair, taking everyone by surprise. The trinkets Splinter's 'Do Not Touch' cabinet rattled and shook, a few of the lighter items clattered to the floor. April held onto the armchair with Raph steadying it before it could topple over backward. Mikey hid inside of his shell out of reflex as Leo jumped to his feet, prepared to face whatever threat was upon them.
"Omigosh!" Mikey exclaimed, popping his head out of his shell. "What was that?!"
"You don't think DIGG's tryin' to take down the Kaufman Coliseum again?" Raph frowned, trying to rub the ringing out from his ears.
"Um, guys?" Leo sniffed the air, "Does anyone else smell something burning, or is that Raph's 'Taken-By-Surprise' stink?"
Raph sniffed at his underarm, "Nope. It's not me!"
April and Mikey took a moment to smell the air, their noses wrinkled at the familiar acrid odor of smoke.
And smoke could only mean one thing: something was on fire.
Oh no! Donnie! Barry! April's stomach dropped over the thought. She bolted out of the living room with Raph, Leo, and Mikey right behind her. "Please let it be a giant mutant potato!"
It wasn't a giant mutant potato.
By the time they entered the atrium, a thick cloud of smoke had spilled out from the mouth of Donnie's lab, billowing up into the rafters above. Although they couldn't see it, they could hear the fire roaring from deep within the lab.
"Mad Dogz!" Raph barked, "Initiate ‘Fire Safety Plan Alpha!’"  “FSssPAH!” Mikey pronounced the acronym from the back of the group.
But before Raph could lead the rescue, Draxum leaped out from the smoke carrying Donnie in his arms; their matching lab coats singed. Shelldon flew out, not too far behind, with Huginn and Munnin holding onto his back.
"Barry!" April ran up to the soot-stained alchemist. "What happened?! I thought y'all we're gonna take things easy? Didn’t y’all read the packet?!"
"We were," Draxum rasped, passing Donnie's limp body into Raph's arms. "If it weren't for a pair of idle hands." He gave his gargoyles a sharp look while removing the safety goggles from his face, leaving clean rings around his eyes.
Munnin's wings sagged, "The instructions weren't joking when it said 'everything in this chemistry set is a fire hazard.'"
"Yeah, including the instructions," Huginn hung his head, "Our bad."
"So, how're we suppose to handle this whole situation?" Leo asked, gesturing to the raging inferno that was (formally) Donnie's lab.
"I'm on it, dudes!" Shelldon replied, concentrating on his emergency protocols hardwired into his drives.
The fire-alarm system blared to life. Then came the hissing of the sprinklers going off and the gush of extinguishing foam spraying deep within the lab. Slowly, the smoke was beginning to ease up, much to everyone's relief.
Slowly, Donnie began to stir, groaning as he slowly regained consciousness, "Ugh... what? M-my lab..." His confusion morphed into panic as he realized the severity of the situation. "My lab!!" He squirmed feebly in Raph's arms, mortified.
"Woah, take it easy," Raph held Donnie against him, firm enough to subdue him yet careful not to hurt him. "That chemistry set of yours nearly got you guys barbequed."
Donnie frowned, "No, you don't understand!" His eyes stung with tears as he thought of his life's work gone in a blaze of unsupervised stupidity. "Everything's ruined!"
"Hey, you don't know that for sure!" April gently touched Donnie's shoulder. "Besides, what's important is you're both okay!"
"April's right," Mikey agreed, clinging to Draxum's side, "We're glad y'all made it out safely. A little flambéed, but you get the idea."
"But my lab," Donnie emphasized.
"Lab shmab, we can worry about that later!" Leo nudged Draxum with his elbow. "For now, let's focus on getting you toasted marshmallows taken care of."
"Yeah, what Leo said!" Raph adjusted Donnie in his arms, heading for the bathroom where the first aid kit was kept. "Just you wait; maybe it's not as bad as you think!"
                                                            -x-
Raph's sense of judgment was always a mixed bag, and this time, he couldn't have been farther from the truth.
The lab was a smoldering mess, virtually unrecognizable to the Turtles, Draxum, and April. The walls were blackened, and the smell of burnt wiring and computer parts hung sourly in the air. Puddles of foam and water gathered in parts of the floor, adding to the disarray.
Donnie searched desperately for anything salvageable, but the prospects were slim to none. The bandaged Softshell approached the remnants of his workstation, absolutely gutted. He reached for what was once a prototype for a new battle shell, but it crumbled into ash in his hands.
"Alas, this must've been what it felt like to lose the Library of Alexandria," Donnie mourned poetically, sinking to his knees. Shelldon drifted up to his heartbroken creator, pressing his head against Donnie's side like the loyal drone he was.
"Okaaayyy, so it's a little charbroiled in here," Leo cringed. "But if anyone can fix this, it's you!"
"Do you have any idea how long that'll take me?" Donnie moaned, overwhelmed by the daunting task. "It took me years of refurbishing junk and computer parts, and now I have nothing! Zilch! Nada! No equipment, no materials, no anything!"
Donnie's outburst left the others speechless. They had seen him upset before, but nothing to this extent.
Quietly, Draxum approached Donatello, "As someone who has lost their life's work twice, I understand your plight," he said, joining the turtle on the floor. "However, unlike myself, you are fortunate not to face this endeavor alone. You have your friends, your brothers, and... your lab partner," Draxum looked off to the side, somewhat flustered by the sentimental mushiness his words implied.
"Draxibald's right, Donnie!" Mikey beamed. He was so proud of Barry for stepping up to the plate. He popped up in between them, slinging his arms over their shoulders, "You've got us to help you! We'll have your lab up and running in no time!"
Leo smiled, "Yeah, with you bossing us around, we can totally get the job done!"
"But a total rebuild of this scope requires a certain level of technological sophistication!" Donnie deflated, "So unless you know of any tech-savvy geniuses out there, I don't see how any of this is possible."
"Oh, I know a guy," April answered, "And I'm lookin' right at him~" She smiled at Donnie, who didn't know how to process the compliment. "Have a little faith in yourself, Dee!"  Donnie blinked, stunned that his own words were used against him.
"Yeah, you said so yourself!” Raph joined in, “You and that big brain of yours built this lab out of nothin' but junk! If there's anyone who can build back better than ever, it's you! So whaddya say, Don?"
Donnie looked at Raph's hand extended out to him. He then glanced over at Leo, Mikey, and April, all eagerly awaiting his response. He turned to Draxum, who gave a curt nod.
Touched by the support of his family, Donnie wiped away a tear from the corner of his eye, "I say let's order some pizzas and chop-chop! Rome wasn't built in a day, people! We've got our work cut out for us!"  He took Raph’s hand and was lifted up from the ground.  Yes, Donnie supposed he could have a little faith in himself, and everyone else as well.

Bay/rise 25!! @brightlotusmoon @errorfreak88 @selfindulgenz
“COWABUNGA!”
That simple cry was all it took for the mutants and the soldiers they were locked in combat with to stop fighting. Their eyes searched a short while until they saw four more figures jumping from the rafters armed with sai, nunchaku, Bo, and odachi.
“My beautiful experiments!” Draxum gasped, then tossed Raph and Donnie aside like toys he was bored with.
The four mix-matched ninjas landed in a semi-decent formation, more for drama than any useful fighting technique. Cassandra saw Leo’s bewildered expression and took advantage of it to smack him over the head with the wooden part of her weapon before flipping away.
“Ah— what are you doing here?” Leo growled and rubbed his head.
“Saving you guys!” Leonardo shot back out of impulse, then quickly withdrew with a softer, “Uh— I— I think?”
“Draxum!”
Michelangelo squeaked and ran over to hug the yokai. Draxum grunted at the tight squeeze and his expression turned into a shamefaced, almost haunting look. He didn't seem to know what to do, not returning the hug but not quite pushing the box turtle away either.
“How’d you get here? You came to help us! Oh! I knew you would!” Michelangelo nuzzled into Draxum’s chest.
“Drax, daaaaaamn.” Leonardo whistled. “Looking Fine ~”
“Where’d you get the cool armor Drax?” Raphael asked excitedly.
“And more importantly, are they still producing them?” Donatello poked out from behind Raphael, “because I am interested!”
“I…” Baron Draxum brought his hands carefully to Michelangelo’s carapace, looking around at the gallery of other turtles and then to Cassandra who looked on with an almost heartbroken expression. Baron then snapped his attention back to Michelangelo, pulling his lips back in a snarl. “Don’t you dare touch me, vile traitor!”
Michelangelo looked up at Baron with wide, confused eyes. Draxum didn't let himself witness the sadness and heartbreak in them as he tossed Michelangelo hard.
“MIKEY!” The rise brothers all cried out at once.
Michelangelo didn't try to catch himself. He let the impact come full force. The crack of his carapace against stone almost seemed to break Draxum’s heart in two, but he didn’t let it show. His face remained stagnant.
“Now fight, worthless terrapins! Like I made you for!”
“Draxum…?” Michelangelo’s voice was softer than a whisper, mixed with a sniffle as tears fell from his eyes and trailed down his beak. For a few seconds of shock shared between all present, the only sound was heavy breathing and the steady trickle of tears as they fell to the cold stone.
The sound that broke the silence was a roar of pure rage as Raphael brought his fist down hard on Baron Draxum’s cheek and sent the yokai slamming into the far wall, leaving an indent where his body had collided. Draxum, stunned by the blow, could only watch in mounting horror as the snapping turtle roared once more, not unlike a dinosaur from an old movie. His eyes were glossed over white, frothy foam flying out of his mouth as his breaths came heavy and labored. Raphael dug his feet into the floor for a second before charging Draxum at an incredible speed.
Cassandra gasped. “Master!”
She was on Raphael’s trail the minute he started to charge. Her mind worked faster than a bumble bee, locking onto the bandages wrapped around the turtle's shell and remembering the damage her master had done to him. She angled her naginata to strike him in that same area for optimal damage, but her blade was intercepted by another.
“I got your back, Raph!” Leonardo locked his odachi with her bent naginats so neither of them could go anywhere.
Raph tried to charge back into the fray.
“Wait.” Leo held out his arm to stop Raph, “I wanna see something…”
Raph and Donnie reluctantly stood by their leader and watched the other turtles as they took on the yokai and the human general. Draxum overcame his shock in just enough time to launch himself out of Raphael’s war path. He didn't dare try to take on the snapper in his state— not hand-to-hand anyway. He grabbed the snapper’s legs with his vines to try and hold him back, but they were little more than a nuisance to Raphael who snapped them with ease.
Cassandra finally broke free of the stalemate with Leonardo by dropping suddenly and trying to ankle-swipe, but Leonardo was ready for her and flipped away into a quick recovery.
“Dang girl! You should totally join a circus!”
Leonardo ducked as Cassandra tried to swing at him, dodging the speeding attack with a slide that came natural to him. He turned his duck into a charge, slamming hard into Cassandra’s stomach to knock her off balance before speeding away from her attempted counterattack.
“You’d be great at the trapeze!”
Cassandra chased after him, trying to corral him into a corner. Leonardo didn't dare stop once he got his momentum going, and when it came time for what should have been an impact, he jumped and flipped off the wall, completely missing Cassandra. Unable to stop in time, Cassandra hit the wall rather hard. Leonardo already knew what was going to happen when he landed, and so he prepared for the ouch as his feet slid out from under him and he slammed into the hard stone.
“Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow!” He scrambled to his feet and sped away.
Leo whistled. “Good move on his part. Could improve his landing though.” Some small part of him simmered with jealousy at how easy the slider could manage the soldier that Leo himself could barely land a hit on.
When Cassandra shook off her mistake, she did just as Leonardo had expected and reared her weapon into the air while shouting, “You dare make a mockery of the Foot Clan?!”
Her question gave Donatello enough time to swoop past, while Cassandra’s eyes were still locked in a bloodlust against Leonardo, and he snatched the mystic orb from her belt.
“I’ll take that!”
Cassandra had to do a double take to figure out what had happened before she growled and changed her target to charge at Donatello.
“GIVE THAT BACK!”
Donatello was fast, but not as fast as Leonardo. The slider did a wide turn and zoomed past to side-check Cassandra and make her slip before she could reach his brother. Leonardo snatched the orb from Donatello, circling the warehouse once more.
“HEADS UP!”
He tossed the ball up to the platform where April watched, and the kunoichi dove to catch the speeding artifact, ignoring the pain still radiating through her as it landed safely in her hands.
Donatello was handling Cassandra okay enough, and so Leonardo's next target was his youngest brother.
“Miguel! We could really use your help out here!”
Michelangelo hadn’t moved from his stunned position, his eyes still glazed over with tears. “Draxum…”
Leonardo gave a nervous whine, his eyes shooting every which way to take in the current situation before he grabbed his brother’s hands and yanked him up, forcing him into focus.
“Come on, Mike, you know drill! Let’s knock that renegade out the rafters!”
Leonardo spun quick circles; he gripped Michelangelo hard as his brother's feet left the ground. Leonardo couldn’t get nearly as much force into the toss as Raphael could whenever they played the brother ball technique, so he had to rely on pure speed and luck. And he was the luckiest one out there! Leonardo went through the calculations in his mind, humming the countdown in Spanish until he got to uno and let Michelangelo fly.
“DON! BROTHER BALL!”
Draxum was too focused on the snapping Raphael to notice the speedball headed his way. His hooves found footing easily on the rafters, dancing between the beams with a perfect balance as he angled attacks downward. Michelangelo slammed into Draxum’s back with a solid clang of keratin and metal that sent both falling.
Donatello broke from his spar with Cassandra and ran forward for the recovery, holding the wooden staff high. Michelangelo popped out of his shell when the time was right and grabbed a hold of the staff, Donatello lifting him safely away from impacting the ground. Draxum, however, landed full force.
“Nice save, Don!” Leonardo whistled as he sped past, readying himself to jump right back into the battle.
Draxum knew when to call it quits, and now was the time. His vines pulled from the ground and created a pink rift, which he promptly grabbed Cassandra and heaved her through. Raphael attempted one last charge, but Draxum was already gone and so was the portal.

"My head hurts" - Dot
There were three things Yakko hated most in the world: King Salazar, moving ‘homes’, and winter.
Yakko’s hatred of Salazar was clear: he was responsible for where they were now. It was his fault they were homeless orphans in a town that was going progressively downhill. He was raising taxes without a thought about what it was doing to the citizens. It drove Yakko insane, especially since this tax went down to the smallest child. Every time they earned just enough money for a new blanket or maybe a warm meal made by someone else for once, it was taken away by that stupid baron Thaddeus Von Plotz.
It was because of King Salazar that the stores and shops kept shutting down, and reopening just to shut down again.  It made it especially hard for them to find a stable place to live. Just when they’d get settled into an abandoned jewelry shop, policemen would come and tell them to scram and that some other shop that was doomed to fail was replacing it.
The worst part about changing ‘homes’ was how difficult it clearly was for Dot. Wakko was usually gone during the days, trying to find odd little jobs to do around the town, or hunt for rabbits for them to eat for dinner if they didn’t have money to buy food. Dot, however, was just five years old now. She didn’t have any memories of their parents, or even of the orphanage. Yakko spent his days with her, trying to teach her to read and write with what he had around, or playing her silly games, but with her hanging around “home” so often, she always got just too attached right before they’d have to move again. She always looked so heartbroken as she looked back and said goodbye to the building.
Winter.
Yakko hated winter a lot, it was in a close second to King Salazar. It snowed a lot in Acme Falls, and Yakko was thankful they had fur, or else all of them would’ve caught hypothermia by now.
Winter’s were especially hard when they had to move around. Sometimes there weren’t buildings and they’d have to spend the next few days in the alleys. That was when they were practically guaranteed to get sick. It was never too serious, and they were usually just cases of flu that lasted a few days before going away. Yakko had a tendency to be a ‘worry-wart’ in the words of Wakko, which he couldn’t deny. He just... couldn’t afford to lose them.
“Yakko, when is Wakko coming back?” Dot asked, holding a very worn out rag doll Yakko had gotten her for her third birthday, before the taxing would’ve made it impossible.
“He’ll be back soon,” Yakko said, as he looked through what food they had left to see if they could have lunch today. Dot frowned a little.
“Y-yakko my head hurts,” Dot said.
“Go lay down, I’m sure it’ll go away,” Yakko brushed it off. Dot tended to exaggerate things when she wanted attention. It was probably just from hunger- not that Yakko could blame her, but it was nothing lunch could hopefully fix.
“Okay... I’ll go lie down,” Dot nodded and went to their bed, which was really just a pile of blankets on the floor, and curled up into a ball. Yakko frowned at that, but shrugged it off again. He really did need to relax more, he always got so wrapped up in his own head, and it never did anyone any good.
“It’s just because she’s hungry,” He thought to himself. Yakko returned to the food and sighed. Hopefully Wakko could make more than a ha’penny this time because they were running low on bread.
Still, something was off with Dot today so it was probably best to have at least a little something to settle her over for now. Hopefully, they’d be okay...
Yakko wasn’t surprised when it started to snow outside. He muttered to himself as he got the materials for a fire and set them aside to do later. Hopefully, it wouldn’t snow too much, or else they’d be able to make snowmen with how many holes were in the ceiling.
“I’m back!” Wakko announced as he re-entered the small building.
“Took you long enough, what do you have?” Yakko asked.
“I was lucky and got myself three ha’pennies today,” Wakko beamed with pride. Yakko did his best to be happy as well, but, well- ha’pennies weren’t exactly as valuable as Wakko believed. Still, it could buy them a little more food, which meant Wakko didn’t have to hunt and could play with Dot like she wanted.
“That’s good Wak. We can buy some more bread with that and have some for dinner,” Yakko said. Wakko nodded happily.
“Look Dot! I got three- is she okay?” Wakko went to brag to his little sister, but quickly dropped his attitude.
“Her head hurts, I’m sure it’s just because she’s hungry. She hardly ate yesterday,” Yakko stated.
“Neither did we and we’re fine,” Wakko frowned.
“We’re bigger than she is, it means more to her than us,” Yakko sighed and shrugged. That detail did bug him, but he had other things to focus on for the moment. He shivered as he felt the building shake as harsh winds began to mix in with the snow.
For instance, he had a fire to start.. somewhere.
It was really hard to start fires in places that didn’t have an oven. If it hadn’t been snowing he would have tried outside. Still, he had collected rocks, sticks and had even gotten some firewood and it was cold enough to warrant using it. Even though he hated it most times, he was glad for once the floor was dirt and not wood.
As he started pilling the wood, he felt his younger brother hovering around him curiously. Yakko chuckled at that. He had been doing that since he could walk; some things never change.
“If you want to help start the fire, you can just say so Wak,” Yakko grinned. Wakko, not one to be embarrassed easily, beamed, and picked up the stones Yakko had gathered days before and started putting them in a circle around the fire. Yakko didn’t really know why people did that with fires, but it made them look nicer and it made a clear barrier Dot and Wakko knew not to cross.
“Eventually, they had gathered everything around. Yakko grabbed the box of matches they had, and did his best to hide his frown as he realized they only had four left.
“Better make them count,” He thought, sighing aloud. He of course could’ve tried the old fashioned way, but those fires tended to end poorly, and usually gave the ever impulsive Wakko ideas. It was simply better to use matches.
Finally, the fire had been lit and Yakko felt himself sigh a breath of relief mixed with tiredness. Who knew it was utterly exhausting to have to raise a five-year-old, and an eight-year-old when you were only eleven-almost-twelve. He grabbed their bag of food and handed Wakko a piece of bread and some grapes before standing up and going to Dot.
“Hey Dot, we’re eating lunch now and-” Yakko paused when he noticed how damp her fur looked. He looked up and frowned when he saw that there wasn’t a hole above her that would’ve caused snow to fall on her.
Then she coughed.
It wasn’t a normal cough, it was loud, it was messy, and it was long.
“D-dot? Are you okay?” Yakko asked, trying to hide his panic. Dot shivered and clutched the blanket around her tighter.
Oh god- this was bad. This was really really bad.
“Wakko, where did you put your ha’pennies?” Yakko asked, turning to him.
“Right here- what’s wrong with Dot?” Wakko said, his ears lowered in worry.
“We have to take her to the doctor- Now.” Yakko stated.
“Now? Is she okay?” Wakko looked much more frightened. Yakko never took them to the doctor for anything unless he felt it was serious (like when Wakko had broken his arm hunting once).
“Y-yak-” Dot had tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse. Yakko cringed as he picked her up. She suddenly felt a lot lighter than she had before.
This was really really bad.
“Don’t say anything Dot, it’s gonna be okay,” Yakko said, stroking her head softly.
However, the universe seemed to be out to prove him wrong as the door swung open and snow and fiercely bitter winds broke into the small place and immediately put the fire out.
So much for making the most out of that match.
Yakko shook his head, he didn’t have time to focus on that, Dot was sick. Really sick. He needed to get her to a doctor asap.
“Stay here Wak, it’ll be safer in here than out there,” Yakko said. Wakko shook his head profusely.
“I wanna go with you. We need to stick together,” Wakko insisted. Yakko looked at him and couldn’t help but be reminded of that night five years ago...
Yakko shook his head to snap himself out of it. “Fine, but hold onto my tail. I can’t lose you in the storm,” Yakko said, and was relieved when Wakko didn’t protest. Finally, he sucked in a deep breath for strength and headed out into the storm for the doctors.
Yakko usually forbade his sibs from walking during a snow storm for very obvious reasons. One, they could get frostbite or hypothermia or just get really cold; Two, the roads were covered in ice and they could easily slip and hurt themselves; and Three, it was just generally a really bad idea.
That didn’t stop Yakko though. He was on a mission and nothing was going to stop him. He didn’t hesitate to take off his own coat and wrap his little sister in it. If it weren’t for the direness of the situation, he would’ve laughed at how it engulfed her.
He kept marching on.
The walk was a lot longer than Yakko expected, but with the snow piling up and the weight of carrying his sister and feeling his brother’s pull on his tail, plus the lack of visibility were all making it a whole lot more difficult than it had to be.
“Yakko! I think you walked past it!” Wakko shouted from behind to be heard over the wind.
Walked past it? No, he wouldn’t have-
He looked above and noticed they were all the way at the bakery, three buildings over from the doctor’s office.
“This is what you get for complaining Yakko. Keep this up and she’ll be de-”
No. He couldn’t think like that. He turned around and ran as quickly as he could to the doctors without slipping. He cursed when the stupid door was locked. Wakko tapped his shoulder and gestured for him to step aside. Yakko obeyed and Wakko began banging on the door as hard as he could.
“Ve are closed can’t you read- Oh. The Warners. Vhat do ve have here?” The familiar doctor puzzled. Ignoring the rude implications, Yakko leaned Dot towards him and the doctor gasped and let them come in immediately.
Thank goodness the doctor was doing well for himself still because his building was nice and toasty. Doctor Scratnsniff closed and locked the door once more after they got in.
“Vhat is the matter vis Dot?” He asked, gesturing for Yakko to hand her over. Yakko hesitated but obliged.
“I don’t know... I-i thought she was just tired because she was hungry but when I checked up on her later she was sweaty, a-and she had a cough. A really bad one,” Yakko said.
“How far did you walk to come here? It vas very far, no?” He asked as he hurried off to his examination table. Yakko and Wakko followed.
“Very far,” Wakko said.
“And in a blizzard nonetheless. You two must really care,” Dr. Scratchnsniff said, checking her vitals.
Yakko scoffed. Was he daft? He had known them since they had moved to Acme Falls and he was surprised they cared about her?
“Zis is bad... zis is very bad...” The doctor muttered in hopes that the other two sibs wouldn’t hear, but Yakko heard it clear as day.
“What’s the matter doc?” Yakko said, sticking his hands in his pant pockets nervously.
“I’m afraid Dot is very ill-”
“Can you fix her?” Wakko interrupted. Scratchnsniff sighed.
“I do not know. Zis illness... it comes and goes. To remove it would require surgery which is expensive and dangerous, especially around zis time of year,” He scratched the back of his bald head.
“N-no... there... there has to be something you can do,” Yakko pleaded.
“I’m sorry Yakko... there isn’t much I can do except recommend a diet and hope for the best. Like I said, it comes and goes,” He explained.
“Please, we’ll do anything,” Yakko said. Scratchnsniff sighed.
“I’ll give you a list,” He said.
Good. At least the doctor wasn’t that daft and heartless.
“You kiddies should stay here for the next while though, Dot needs her strength and a warm environment ja?” He said as he went to get a piece of paper. Yakko and Wakko shared a look.
“We only have three ha’pennies...” Wakko said, looking at the ground. “Will that cover it..?”
Yakko saw Scratchnsniff pause.
“Guess he isn’t doing as well as I thought,” Yakko thought.
“Zat will get you three days, ja? Zat should be enough time for her to regain her strength,” He said. Wakko smiled.
“Thanks scratchy!” He said, hugging the doctor.
“You’re very velcome Vakko,” He patted his head, clearly uncomfortable with the gesture but too polite to say otherwise.
“Yeah, thanks doc,” Yakko said, keeping his distance and walking over to Dot.
“Yeah, thanks doc,” Yakko said, keeping his distance and walking over to Dot.
“Y-yakko...” Dot shivered.
“Shh, it’s gonna be okay Dot,” Yakko said, trying his best not to look overwhelmed with worry.
“Wh-where- wh-when-” Dot looked around wearily.
“It’s okay Dot. We’re at the doctor's. Just get some rest, okay? You’re gonna need your strength,” Yakko said, stroking her head.
“A-am I okay?” Dot asked, looking at him wearily.
“You’ll be okay Dot. Everything is gonna be okay," He said, not really believing it, but he willed himself to look like he believed it for her. It wasn't easy, as she went into another nasty coughing fit. After that, Dot shivered and reached out for his hand wearily. He gave it to her, and she placed it under her cheek and embraced it. Yakko thought he might cry.
"It's gonna be okay, Dot. You're gonna be okay."
"You have to," he silently added.
He couldn't afford to lose her too.

If you want to request you can, and please do, I write for more characters except Fred lmao, just go ahead and request it! Or message me for anything idc I’ve been very bored lately :) please enjoy this crap I produced in a few hours.
Tumblr media
“We won!” Fred screamed, hosting you up in his arms. “I can’t believe we actually won!” He continued, blissfully laughing before putting you down and pulling you into a tight hug.
“Woah there, big guy. I know you’re excited but you’re suffocating me.” You laughed, playfully punching him in his back.
“I’m sorry, love. I just cannot believe we actually won the Quidditch Cup. Charlie is going to be so delighted.” He continued pulling back, his hands resting on your face.
It had been the last match, Gryffindor against Slytherin, and after an intense couple of hours, Harry had managed to catch the Golden Snitch, resulting in his team winning the Quidditch Cup for the first time since Charlie Weasley had attended the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Oi, you two, stop flirting over there, we have a party to attend to.” You heard from your left turning to face a smiling George who had just finished ruffling Harry’s hair.
You felt a pair of arms rest around both yours and Fred’s shoulders, pushing you forwards and off the station. “He’s right. We ought to celebrate finally winning the Cup. This feels like a dream; on my final year too! And McGonagall thought my training schedule was horrendous.” Oliver Wood’s voice rang in your ears as he pushed himself forward to congratulate the rest of the team.
“Your training schedule was horrendous; we were training more than all of the other teams combined!” Fred shouted after his team’s captain who was already too deep im embraces from his house’s members to hear the twin’s protests. “I barely had time to study this year and this is his reaction?” Fred sighed as you both continued walking towards the Gryffindor common room.
“As if you would study even if you had had the time.” You laughed just as you entered the castle, following the many Gryffindor students who kept joyfully chanting their way to the party.
“Oh, so you’re just so keen on personally attacking me now?” He chimes, bumping his shoulder into yours. “You aren’t exactly wrong, but those training schedules meant I couldn’t spend as much time as I wanted to with you, this year, and we both know just how heartbroken you were when you found out you weren’t able to spend all those wonderful afternoons, cuddling up with me.” He smirked at you, earning a smack on his head.
“Sometimes I wonder why I decided to be friends with such a pretentious idiot in the first place.” You smiled as you finally reached the Fat Lady portrait that secured the entrance to the common room. From behind it, you could already hear the celebrations that were occurring, imagining all the food, the drinks and the decorations that had been put up for this wonderful occasion.
“That’s no way to talk about Georgie. I know his intelligence isn’t his forte, but he’s not that pretentious, you know? Scurvy Cup.” Fred stated as the painting moved forward and the Fat Lady disappeared behind it with a heartfelt ‘Don’t have too much fun’.
Before you could respond to the redhead’s comment, Fred had already been shoved away from you and into a group of giggling girls, all of them intrigued on how he had such strength to make the Bulger hit the Slytherins’ brooms with such intensity. You were used to this by now, although there were many perks of befriending the Weasley twins, there was also the slight disadvantage of how social and outgoing they were which meant you were more often than not pushed away from them, since so many people, specially girls, wanted to be with them as well. You couldn’t blame them, there was something so alluring about Fred and George’s personality that sometimes you were shocked how the whole school wasn’t in love with them both.
“Don’t look so gloomy, (Y/N). Our house just won the Quidditch Cup for the first time in several years.” Lavender Brown giggled, shoving a cup in your hands. “Have a drink. You look so off-putting just standing there, doing nothing at all.”
“Don’t you have something a bit... stronger?” you questioned, eyeing the pumpkin juice in the cup you were holding.
“I might just have a few shots. Someone from seventh year was able to get a few bottles of Firewhiskey, if you’re interested.” The girl explained as you both made your way to the drink’s table. “I don’t know if they hid it better so the younger ones don’t get drunk on it, but Dean said it was under the... Aha!” Lavender exclaimed producing a single bottle of the so desired alcohol. “I’ll pour it for you since I know how you can get when there’s Firewhiskey and Fred Weasley off with some girls involved.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Besides I won’t get drunk, don’t worry; we still have a ton of homework and I’m sure McGonagall is going to make us a ‘surprise visit’ tomorrow to see just how much we have destroyed the common room.” You stated just as your friend finished filling up the bottom of a cup, offering it to you. “Thank you.” You smiled, bringing the cup to your lips, the fiery taste immediately warming up your mouth. “It has been a long day, I needed this.”
Lavender rolled her eyes, safely hiding the bottle again, making sure none of the younger students were looking. “You are so dramatic. The game wasn’t even that long. Now come on, you can’t enjoy a party if you aren’t even dancing.”
It wasn’t long before the both of you joined the rest of your friends, dancing actively just as the alcohol seemed to be starting to kick in. Lavender was partially right- you did drink an awful lot every time there was a party such as this one, but you were always able to hold yourself back from getting actually drunk. You drank enough to feel slightly buzzed, but never enough so you couldn’t remember anything the morning after.
However, today was different. The overly-touchy couple dancing next to you seemed to push you to keep drinking. You knew you shouldn’t feel this way, he was just your friend and he was more than welcome to be with other girls, after all you didn’t own him, nobody did. Yet, every time it look like you weren’t bothered by their proximity anymore, Fred’s loud whisper in the girl’s ear that prompted her obnoxious laugh would make your cup reach your lips almost immediately after. You knew you weren’t just buzzed anymore, your thoughts already becoming more and more incoherent, but you couldn’t stop, you wouldn’t stop. If it meant you wouldn’t be as bothered by his hands slowly sliding down her back as her hands rummaged through his whole body, if it meant those images would be less defined than they were supposed to be, then it was fine by you.
“How about we go for a walk?” Lavender abruptly asked, turning your face towards the door. “I think it’s a bit stuffy in here, we should get some air.” She continued quickly, already pulling your arm.
“Lav, why would we do that when it’s already way past our curfew. That would be absolutely-“ as you turned your head to meet your friend’s eyes, the reason for her unusual request caught yours. Their faces, pressed together, their lips moving rapidly, hungrily, his hand on her hips, pushing her towards him, her hand in his hair, pulling it savagely.
You didn’t even have time to process how Lavender knew you were so infatuated by Fred to the point that this scenery would hurt you deeply. Sure she had made jokes about how you two should be dating but you never actually took any of those seriously. You didn’t even think about the possibility that others might know as well, something you so deeply wished to keep as a secret, in fear it would ruin your friendship with the boy. You felt tears starting to prick in your eyes, pushing through the crowd and out of the common room. Why were you even so upset? Fred didn’t owe you anything, he was you friend and nothing more, that had been made very clear, specially tonight. You made your way to the Astronomy Tower, carefully passing by a lecturing Bloody Baron and a remorseful looking Peeves, so as not to bring yourself any unwanted attention.
When you reached the top, you sat down, looking up at the stars. Ever since you were little, looking at the stars would always help you calm down, see the bigger picture, they would always make you feel better.
“You know, these stars are nothing compared to the ones I’ve seen in your eyes.” The booming voice startled you, but you didn’t need to turn around to know to whom that voice belonged to. “Why did you run away like that, we were in the middle of a celebrating my big win.” Fred smiled taking a seat besides you.
“Oh, right, what a big win it was.” You spat, scooting away from him. The Firewhiskey you had previously drank seemed to be giving you some unnecessary confidence. “Why don’t you go back to your big win. I’m sure she is missing your lips so much.”
“Love, are you jealous?” Fred laughed, closing the gap between you two once more.
“So now you’re aware of my feelings? All this time I’ve been in love with you but only now are you realising I may have feelings too?” The alcohol was doing quite a number on you as it took you a moment to process your own words. “Did I just say that out loud?” You grimaced, getting up from your spot, and ready to once again run away. Many could argue running away from your problems wasn’t the key to solving them, but you would beg to differ, since in this case it seemed like it was the only solution.
“You did, (Y/N), and honestly can’t say I’m surprised after the way you acted tonight.” Fred grinned, pulling himself up and in between your body and the door, far too quickly for your own liking, preventing you from escaping this disastrous conversation. “I guess since we are giving this whole honestly thing a try, I should do it was well: I did kiss that girl back there but I couldn’t stop picturing you in my arms your hands on my hair, your lips on mine. I was doing it so much that I even ended up moaning your name. I guess you can assume she wasn’t too happy about it, but who would be, imagine getting the chance to kiss me, the most gorgeous specimen there is, just to realise I’m not thinking about you at all.
You stared at him, disbelief prominent in your features. “Right sorry, point is, that is when I saw you running away to this place, and obviously I had to follow you to make sure you weren’t getting into to trouble... At least not without me. Nice spot by the way. Gorgeous view, calm and quite, it’s honestly splendid.”
“I’m sorry, you did what?!” Had he actually called out your name in the middle of making out with another girl? Had he actually pictured you, in her place, with him? You felt your legs give under your weight, as you slid back onto the floor. “You like me as well?” You questioned, hopefully.
“I never said that...” he started, but you quickly interrupted.
“Just admit that I’m right.” You breathed, forcing him to sit down in front of you. “Please?”
“(Y/N), I don’t like you...” He explained, kneeling next to you. “I love you, have loved you since our first year actually. The moment you got really angry at me and Georgie for pulling a prank on you so you pulled one back, I just knew you were the one for me.” He continued, resting his hands on your face. “I’m just admired someone as smart as you took so long to figure that out.”
“You were the one loudly making out with someone else at the party, not me.” You argumentes, leaning towards him.
“Fair enough, but in my defense, I was so strongly convinced someone like you couldn’t possibly like me back that I was trying my best to get you out of my head, thus my many, unfortunate, shared kisses with that girl. Wait, was it really that loud?” He asked making you smile. “Why I ever made such an idiotic decision, I will never know.” His features mimicked yours, as he sat next to you resting his arm on your shoulders. “You know you’ve made me very self conscious of my own kissing abilities, right?”
You jolted yourself up, capturing his lips in yours as the both of you moved in sync, his hands resting on your hips, yours on his neck. “Loud but magnificent.” You laughed, sitting back in your original position, your head resting in his shoulder.
“Mm, if I knew you kissed like that, I wouldn’t have even let you out of my side for a second, tonight.” Fred hummed appreciatively.
It had been fairly quick until you felt your body become progressively more tired to the point you could barely hold in your yawning.
“It’s okay to sleep, love.” You heard Fred’s voice besides you. “You did drink quite a lot tonight, don’t think I didn’t notice. I’ll just carry you back to the dorm, don’t worry.”
“But you can’t get inside my room, remember?” You lazily stated, feeling your eyes close once more.
“I guess you’ll be lucky enough to sleep with me tonight.” He lightly laughed at his own comment, taking your hand in his, admiring how well the both of them fit together. “(Y/N)?” He questioned once he noticed the lack of response from your side. “Are you still awake?”
Yet, once again, you didn’t respond, the alcohol completely taking control over your body, making you fall asleep almost instantly after reminding Fred of the difficulty in entering your dorm room. The boy just shook his head, a smile playing in his lips, trying to picture back the moment you had first confessed your feelings to him. Winning the Quidditch Cup and getting the girl he had longed for so long, in the same day? This was surely a day he would remember very fondly for years to come, and he could hardly wait to share the news with his twin brother.

Heart of Audrilluria-Chapter V; Royal Blunders
Modern Fairytale AU
Prince!Tom Hiddleston x Theif!Reader
Tumblr media
Y/N’s head was buzzing. There wasn’t too much pain, but the discomfort was too much to ignore. Her legs and feet ached and judging by the feel of the fabric around her, she didn’t change out of the dress. Opening her eyes, she began to stretch before moving to get out of bed. She sat on the edge of the bed, groaning slightly as the buzzing increased. When did she get back to the suite? She remembered walking through the doors of the guest house but not the specific time. She remembered leaving the ball, but she wasn’t sure if it was after midnight. She remembered dancing with Augustus, but--
Oh no! Y/N remembered him being with her the whole time. She remembered exactly where he is at this very moment. Just as she was getting up, Amelie opened the door, rushed in, and shut it. Her face was pale and her hands shook as she paced near the entrance of the room. Taking one last shaky breath, she composed herself before turning to Y/N and asking, “WHY is there a man asleep on the couch in the main room?!” Y/N walked to her slowly, holding both hands in front of herself in a protective stance. “I can explain,” she started, “but I need you not to yell.” Amelie stopped pacing, letting Y/N put both hands on her shoulders. She looked up at Y/N expectantly, encouraging her to continue. “At the ball, I met the fall-guy. I talked to him, he opened up, and we danced. That’s it.” Y/N explained in a whisper. Amelie shook her head, looking at her with wide-eyes. “That’s it? Then why is he here?!” she whisper-yelled. “Because I gained his trust! I listened to him when he needed a friend and now we have our intel person. I already started forming the false-bond.” Y/N explained.
Amelie took a breath, pulling away from what she was certain would end up being the culprit of the job’s failure. “You’re getting too close,” she said, still whispering afraid anything would wake up the unexpected visitor. “It was the only way to continue with the plan!” Y/N explained, “He’s the baron, his position isn’t that high--” “Then why do you think he was the ideal fall guy?” Amelie rebuked.
They heard shuffling coming from the main room, causing them both to turn towards the door while hoping they weren’t heard. “Because he’s the prince’s best friend,” her sister responded after a moment in silence.
Y/N walked into the main room to see Augustus sitting on the couch while holding his head in his hands. “Good morning,” she spoke, effectively catching his attention.
“Good morning,” he groaned back. “I see you’re still in the previous night’s attire.” Amelie joined them in the room, inserting herself into the conversation, “She is. Both of you came in late. I must’ve been snoring when you arrived.” Augustus turned to her and chuckled, “Ya, I’m sorry for any confusion this may have caused you. I did not expect to get up early in the morning.” He paused for a moment, looking around the room frantically and getting up to search the couch. “Is there something wrong?” Y/N asked perplexed.
“Yes! I should’ve remembered! I have an early breakfast meeting with my peers!” he stammered. Augustus flipped the blanket Y/N forgot she handed to him, looking for his phone. Once he found it, he unlocked the screen only to be met with 5 missed calls 10 texts from Thomas. Reading over them briefly, he began to put on his shoes as he muttered, “I have to go or I’ll be late. I’m sorry to have disturbed you this early.” Y/N approached him, giving him a small smile, “No worries. I’ll let our chauffeur know you need a ride to the castle.” She picked up the phone on the small table near the loveseat and dialed the lobby.
Finishing the final knot on his shoe, Augustus got up hurriedly and turned his attention to Amelie. “Thank you for letting me stay the night, I really appreciate your hospitality,” he thanked. Amelie smiled, “We are the guests here, the least we could do was lend the couch for you to sleep in.” Augustus chuckled as he pat himself down making sure he wasn’t forgetting anything.
“ Ok, your ride is waiting for you in the drop-off area.” Y/N announced, “I’ll see later today for tea with the council.” Augustus turned to her, giving her an appreciative smile. “I’ll see you then. Thanks for the ride. I had fun.” With that, he rushed out of the suite and made his way to the lobby.
After a minute of silence, Amelie turned to Y/N and folded her arms over her chest. “You wanna start explaining what happened last night?”
~~~~~
Thomas looked at his phone for the millionth time since he got to the breakfast table. The food was going to be served soon and still there was no sign of Augustus. He hadn’t seen his friend since last night when he was dancing with her. He would’ve continued to watch them had it not been for the eager Viscount that could not move on until he discussed how the prince deals with stress for the upcoming days. He believed it was an unnecessary conversation that lasted a good half hour. After it ended, he tried to find them amongst the crowd, but by the time he looked back up, they were gone.
The door to the breakfast hall opened and Augustus walked in. His hair was slightly messy, his shirt was wrinkled near the bottom, and there were dark circles under his eyes. He muttered a few apologies as he walked over to the table and sat down next to Thomas, not sparing a single glance to Charles.
“Sorry I’m late,” he whispered leaning slightly towards Thomas. “Where the hell were you? The maid said you weren’t in your room,” Charles interrupted, not taking his eyes off the napkin he was folding and unfolding. Augustus looked at him briefly before returning his gaze to Thomas. “I wasn’t. I didn’t sleep there,” Augustus explained, looking at the centerpiece of flowers in front of him. Charles nearly slammed his hands on the table while Thomas shot him a warning glare. It made sense. He didn’t see them after the viscount left because--No. He couldn’t have. Not with-- “Then where did you sleep?” Thomas asked him cautiously, pronouncing every syllable of every word.
“I accompanied a friend to the guest house and fell asleep in the main room.” Augustus responded, not catching on to the anger in Thomas’s eyes. “What friend?” Thomas persisted. Augustus chuckled, finally returning his attention to Thomas, “You would be amazed at how friendly the daughter of the conservative marquess truly is. She was one of the few interesting people at the party.” Thomas looked away briefly. Maybe he was overreacting. There was no way he had gotten over what happened with Charles that quick. He said she was friendly, surely she just offered to shoulder to lean on. That’s it, nothing happened. She’s just a good friend.
The three were interrupted by the maids and footmen coming in with the food. Thomas took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly, trying to clear his mind. Once they placed his meal on the table, they bowed slightly and left. “She’s just a friend?” Charles asked quietly. “Just a friend,” Augustus confirmed. Charles nodded, already beginning to indulge in his meal. Thomas on the other hand continued to look at nothing in particular. His mind was plagued with thoughts about Her. What he thought happened between her and Gus could happen with someone else. Not Gus, but any of the nobles or castle staff, or other guests, or h--
He shook his head. How was it that a woman he’d only observed from afar had the ability to plague his mind? He had to stop thinking about it, at least for now. Thomas would see her at the Tea Party at noon. He could think about her then. For now, his breakfast was getting cold.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Just to recap,” Amelie recounted, “You found the baron at the bar, drinking away his sorrows, approached him, offered to be his emotional support, gained his trust, danced the whole night, and now he sees you as a friend?” Y/N sat to her right, still looking out the window of the limousine at the scenery. “Yup. That’s about it,” she confirmed. Amelie slumped into the seat, “Ok, great. Is there anything else I need to know before we get there?” Y/N turned to her sister, her eyes darting around as she thought to herself. “Nope. I just told him things we received in the briefing folder. Oh and that you’re not a social butterfly,” Y/N concluded.
“Great! Keeping it authentic.” Amelie laughed, “But why was he so heartbroken?”
“Apparently, he’s in love with a member of the royal council. When he was going to confess, a bunch of older, less open minded nobles said some things that made him change his mind.” she recalled. Amelie nodded, her expression changing to look doleful, “Poor thing.” Y/N smiled, looking out the window again. This time the scenery was replaced with a beautiful garden area filled with luscious green plants surrounded by what seemed like a barrier of trees. On the further side there was a long arrangement of tables decorated with flowers. The vehicle came to a stop and a valet man opened the door for them. Both sisters got out of the car and made their way to the tables.
As soon as they passed the gazebo, they were greeted by the nobles already present. They stopped to socialize with some of the noblewomen that were waiting for the event to begin. They chatted with their fellow guests all the while Y/N discretely looked for Augustus.
~~~~~
A bell was wrung signaling the commencement of the event. Thomas, Charles, and Augustus took their respective seats, keeping their attention to the guests. There was silence between the three of them as the servers poured the tea to all in attendance. As soon as their drinks were poured and the servers left, Charles turned to Thomas, “I see your eyes aren’t frantically looking for Her.” Thomas sighed, dropping his head slightly. “Damn,” he started, “I was really enjoying the silence.” Augustus gave him a confused look, reaching for his cup and preparing to take a drink. “Her? Thomas, is there something you haven’t told me?” Charles let out  laugh, “You poor oblivious thing! Our dear Thomas has set his eyes on a certain heiress from Spain. The very one you spent the night with--as friends, I mean.” Augustus’s jaw dropped. Why was he not told? “You’re joking?” he asked, still in disbelief.
“Oh not at all,” Charles teased, “Why do you think he almost snapped at you when you told us where you spent the night?”
“That’s enough,” Thomas interjected. He hadn’t realized how tight he was holding his cup until it broke in his grip. The tea spilled over the table and the servers standing by immediately cleaned up the mess. Thomas apologized as they finished cleaning the spilled tea. Another cup was given to him, already full with earl grey tea. Charles and Augustus stared at him slightly frightened by his actions.
“I’m sorry,” Charles began, “It was not my intention to disturb your mood.” Thomas sighed, “No, it was my fault. I broke the cup.” Augustus looked between the two, shifting in his seat with discomfort. After a short mental debate, he spoke, “I’ll go greet the guests, you two fix whatever is going on between you.” Taking his cup, he left in the direction of Y/N and Amelie.
Charles watched him leave before turning to Thomas, “He seemed eager to leave.” Thomas regarded him again, “If you were in his place and knew the things I knew, you would be eager to leave as well.” Charles scoffed, finally taking a sip of his own drink and looking towards the other guests. Meanwhile Thomas looked in her direction. His mind began to wander as he saw she, Augustus, and Amelie laugh. He began to think about it again. He thought about how he reacted at breakfast. How he was ready to yell obscenities at his best friend since childhood over a woman he’d only know briefly. How territorial it must have seemed to Augustus and Charles. He hadn’t spent time with her at all since her arrival, yet he was ready to fight for her. She wasn’t his. Not yet, echoed a small voice from the back of his head. Not. Yet.
Wrestlemania 35 Predictions
Another year, another very stacked Wrestlemania. Around the time of the Royal Rumble, I was actually pretty worried about this card, but it shaped into what looks to be one of the better cards of Wrestlemania history, at least of the ones that last 10+ hours. Either way, lets get into the predictions.
Starting out with the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which oddly enough has a story attached to it. A few weeks ago, Braun Strowman got into a confrontation with Colin Jost and Michael Che, two people who are definitely not wrestlers, because Jost implied wrestling was fake. After weeks of Strowman destroying gifts sent by the pair, he goaded them into also entering the battle royal. I don’t know what the hell is actually happening. I don’t know how that story will affect the match, but if Strowman throws the two out of the ring to win, I think that would a deflating, but ultimately satisfying way to end a pointless pre-show match. But, I am going to take a risk here and say that EC3 will win, because he has been booked to shit lately, and he really needs something. While Strowman is in a similar predicament, he can recover easier due to his monster status. Hopefully EC3 gets the win, and turns it into something.
The Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal has no story, so I’ll just guess. Lacy Evans has yet to be announced for the match, but there is no reason for her not to be in it, so why not? She should be given some sort of a role, and if the rumors are to be believed, that role will be as an actual wrestler. She will need momentum going forward, and hopefully this is how she gets it.
And the last match that definitely shouldn’t be on the pre show, Buddy Murphy vs. Tony Nese for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The two formed a friendship last year after both failed to advance in the Cruiserweight championship tournament, and had been supporting each other and tagging together all last year. However, that friendship began to fall apart when Murphy won the cruiserweight Championship at Super Show-Down, and then Nese won a tournament to be crowned the number one contender. They began to brawl backstage, which puts together an interesting element to this heel vs. heel match. It should really be a great match, but not one that Murphy should lose. I could see it happening, but it doesn’t really need to. Murphy is really at the top of the division right now, and WWE needs to build up a babyface to beat him, rather than just a random betrayal. But this is certainly a match that I am looking forward to.
Into the main card, we come to AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton, whose feud is basically WWE vs. The Indies. Orton told Styles that he wasn’t good enough to get to WWE earlier, whereas Styles told Orton that he couldn’t last on the Indie scene if he had tried. And that is mostly it. So, this match will probably be pretty good because Orton is a heel, and AJ is awesome, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the whole point of it is for WWE to beat the Indie scene in a clash of icons. I think Orton comes away with the win here, which isn’t all that bad due to his scary and cool heel character right now, but its annoying to think that a storyline that vince booked himself about how WWE is better than the indies, may actually make Vince feel like he won something somehow.
Next, it is Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre. The two had a bit of history from last year as the Shield took on various combinations of heels in 6-man tags, but the brunt of the story came after Roman returned from his cancer treatment. McIntyre began to attack Roman before his matches on Raw, saying that he was not ready to be back in the normal roster yet. He challenged Reigns to a match, telling him not to accept it because he will destroy Reigns, but Reigns accepted anyway. It will probably be a super fun match, but an obvious one. Reigns will win in a hard hitting match.
Kurt Angle is having his retirement match on Sunday, against rival Baron Corbin. Corbin constantly undermined Angle’s position as General Manager of Raw, even stealing Angle’s job at one point. Eventually, Angle helped to take Corbin out of that job as well, and the two separated. But when naming his opponent, Angle asked for Corbin due to unfinished business. Corbin then continued to tell Angle that he was too old and fragile to win the match. Also, funnily enough, the WWE fans’ hatred of Corbin is constantly used in the feud, because he tells fans he does not care if they say he isn’t good enough to retire Angle. That makes me laugh. If it was anyone else, I would have said that Angle would lose. But since it is Corbin, and I really don’t want to see him win and neither does anyone else, I think Angle will win here and ride away into the sunset. This is probably a bad booking decision, but it feels necessary. I would not be heartbroken if Corbin won though, because maybe he will be booked better in the future. Probably won’t be a good match. However, there is a possibility that John Cena will return and be Angle’s last match, in which case Cena should win. But, for the purpose of this prediction, I’m calling Angle as the winner.
Shane McMahon is taking on the Miz in a Falls Count Anywhere match. This feud stemmed oddly from both their experience as a tag team and Miz’s desperate attempt to get his father to accept him. Miz felt indebted to Shane after he subbed in for miz at Crown Jewel (can’t believe that this show is somehow still relevant.) in the world cup tournament. Shane said he was the best in the world for a few weeks, before that just sort of faded out. The two were able to team together at the Royal Rumble against the Bar, because Miz begged Shane to help him win a belt and make his father love him (?), and they won the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. They held the belts for a month, losing them to The usos at Elimination Chamber, and again in a match at Fastlane. Shane then attacked the Miz brutally for making him lose the belts, and blamed their failure entirely on him. He even attacked Miz’s dad. Shane said that he was sick of people using him, challenging Miz to a Wrestlemania match, which Miz then requested to make a Falls Count Anywhere match, for no reason in particular. Could be a fun hardcore match, probably more storytelling than wrestling, but I am sure that it will be fun soap opera stupidity. Also, I hope Miz’s dad gets involved!
Then we have Triple H against Batista in a No Holds Barred match. Batista and Triple H had a confrontation at Smackdown 1000, but it did not escalate. However, months later, at Ric Flair’s birthday, Batista spoiled the fun by attacking Flair. He then challenged Triple H to a match, in a very long and bad promo involving Batista saying “give me what I want” and triple h saying “I’m gonna kick your ass.” In a roundabout way, the match became No Holds Barred. Batista’s whole point of challenging Triple H was that he manipulated Batista early in his career, and he does nothing but manipulate people. That makes him seem much more like a misunderstood face rather than a heel, so this is definitely a bad story. Triple H’s career is also on the line for some reason. Anyway, I don’t really care about this match, but I think Batista will win, and he will have one last run with the company, until like Summerslam or something. It is really just Trips’ time to retire.
Onto the title matches, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder take on the Revival for the Raw tag team championships. No real build up here other than Hawkins’ 3 year long losing streak. I am voting with my heart here and saying that Hawkins and Ryder are gonna pull it out and become champions. Just have hope and it will happen guys.
In the smackdown tag division, The usos defend against Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura, the Bar and the Wrestlemania debuting Ricochet and Aleister Black. This match also came out of nowhere, with a random 8-man tag on smackdown being made into a fatal 4-way tag team match by Alexa Bliss last week. So, nothing huge in terms of story, but I feel like Ricochet and Aleister Black are gonna win here. They have been teaming together for a long time now, and winning tag belts on the main roster has been teased since they debuted. So, I think this is their time, and hopefully they can revitalize the tag division on the main roster.
And in the women’s tag division, The Boss n’ Hug Connection are taking on the IIconics, Nia Jax and Tamina and the reformed Divas of Doom. The story started at Fastlane, when Banks and Bayley successfully defeated Jax and Tamina in their first title defense. The heels attacked the champions, until Beth Phoenix left the commentary table and intervened. Natalya ran down the ramp to her aid, but they still lost. The next night, Phoenix returned to action, reforming the Divas of Doom and challenging Bayley and Banks to a Wrestlemania match, which was accepted. The two teams relationship dissolved over the coming weeks, and Tamina and Jax gained entry to the match be beating the teams down during that time. Also, the IIconics accused the Boss n’ Hug connection of avoiding smackdown live. In response, Banks and Bayley fought Royce and Cay on smackdown, with the heels getting an upset win with a dirty pin. So, we come to another Fatal 4-way. I think that Banks and Bayley should retain, because their initial title run hasn’t been that long. Also, I want the Sky Pirates to beat them :)
And in a match that really means nothing to me, Bobby Lashley takes on the Demon version of Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship. Ugh. This feud has gone on for too long. Balor has been going for the title since the Elimination Chamber, where he pinned Lio Rush in a two on one handicap match, winning the championship. However, in a rematch on Raw, Lashley regained the belt due to a distraction from Rush. Now they are having another match, and Finn is gonna be wearing the makeup. I don’t know why they feel the need to announce this, its better as a surprise. Anyway, Finn should win because Lashley has been boring lately. They don’t have much chemistry together, so I don’t expect much from this.
And now for a dream match, Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship. While the two had faced off in fatal 4-ways for the belt in the previous months, Mysterio had not won any and even passed out in the Coquina Clutch. However, Mysterio did score a pin in a recent tag match, booking the match for Wrestlemania. In a similar booking situation as the Women’s Tag Match, Joe shouldn’t lose the belt here, because he should have a long reign on top.
And now into the several “main events,” Seth Rollins takes on Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. The two have had on and off feuds for a couple years, but the main story comes from Brock’s previous opponents as champions. Rollins won the Royal Rumble, and proceeded to speak about the types of Wrestlers that Lesnar had issues with: smaller, quicker wrestlers such as AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan and Finn Balor. The feud also showcased Seth’s resilience, as he was hit with several finishers and still be able to stand up to Lesnar. He has also stated on several occasions that he will do whatever it takes to win. This may result in a heel turn, but hopefully not. I think Seth should win the match, whether he turns heel or not, because Brock just cannot hold that goddamn belt anymore. Let it goooooooooo. But I would rather have Seth lose here than either of the two entries ahead of it, so Lesnar could win, but it should be Seth.
For the WWE Championship, Kofi Kingston finally gets his shot against the dastardly heel Daniel Bryan. Kofi lucked his way into the elimination chamber match, pulling out a great performance in the iron man before the match itself, evening pinning Bryan during that match, and then nearly winning the Elimination Chamber. Kofi was supposed to be in a singles WWE Championship match at Fastlane, but was once again screwed out of the match. Kofi then had to fight in several gauntlet matches to get this match, and it is about damn time he got a title shot. I love that they are comparing Kofi’s rise to Bryan’s rise 5 years ago. Kofi really needs to win this match, because he totally deserves it. He is such a good wrestler, and I never thought that he would hang in the main event. Now that he has the opportunity, he shouldn’t lose this. This is probably the match I am most looking forward to.
And in the real main event, Women’s Royal Rumble winner Becky Lynch battles Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte flair in a winner takes all match. The story here is kinda wild, with Lynch only entering the match because of an injury of another competitor. She eliminated Charlotte last to win the match, and challenge Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship the next night. Vince McMahon tried to remove her from the match and replace her with charlotte, but Rousey refused to fight anyone other than Lynch, so she vacated the title. The next week, they announced a match for Fastlane between Lynch and Flair, and if Lynch won, she would be added to the match. Lynch won when Rousey turned heel and attacked her, giving Lynch the win by DQ. Charlotte then beat Asuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, making the match winner take all. They then brawled in the coming weeks, even being arrested on Monday. This should be really an awesome match, and Becky will finally get the belt the she deserves.
Opportunity Cost
is a simple but interesting concept from economics. When you make a decision, you don’t just lose whatever that decision cost you. You also lost the path not taken - there was something else you could’ve done, and no longer can.
Let’s talk about twists one last goddamn time, and then I’ll shut up again.
Replaying Flight of Fancy, something struck me about the Black Baron. He’s... fine. Mid-tier. He’s entertaining enough; he’s got a dumb accent, he’s sadistic, he’s good at his one thing. All the hallmarks of a middle-of-the-road, oneshot SC villain. Not bad, but not great. Average.
Expendable.
I think part of what makes this twist work so well is that... it’s really no big deal. It turns out the Black Baron never really existed, and, well, nothing of value is lost. It’s not like the story loses a truly great villain like Clockwerk or Arpeggio or Dr M. Or even someone like the Contessa or Jean Bison.
It’s like... oh no. the grizz was never a real character. i’m heartbroken.
I keep clamouring for Carmelita to get a partner, or any kind of company she isn’t obligated to chase down with handcuffs. So I’m a little sad Neyla doesn’t stick with her. But I’m a little sad. It’s not a huge deal, and clearly Neyla’s living her best life. It’s a good tradeoff.
Y’all know what isn’t a good tradeoff.
In exchange for a twist which the game does not explain to many players’ satisfaction, we get to see the only healthy romantic relationship - the only one, I love Sly/’Lita but I cannot pretend they are stable - crash and burn. Forever. Barring an outlandish explanation like mind control, Bentley and Penelope are nev~er ev~er ev~er getting back together. She hurt him too badly.
We had glorious Geeks In Love for like a level and a half. And now it’s gone forever.
#30- “I want a baby” WWE Prompt
From anon- “30 on the 1st prompt list with Baron Corbin please.”
Author’s note- FLUFF
TAG LIST!!!!: @allgirlswrestlingclub @ilovesamizaynn @wweismyguiltypleasure
The Lone Wolf. Everyone assumed that he would be alone forever. He was always moody, giving people dirty looks backstage, kept mainly to himself. When he met Y/N down in NXT, he knew that she was the one. When Baron got called up after “Mania, he felt heartbroken that Y/n wasn’t coming up with him. She had reassured him, multiple times that it was gonna be okay, and that they would talk everyday.
Now 3 years later, here he is on Smackdown Live! as Mr. Money in the Bank. He knew that he was the man around here now, he just wished his fiance was here with him. He proposed to Y/n earlier last year before he got moved up to the main roster. He was walking through catering when he almost choked. That music, it was Y/n’s music! He ran back toward gorilla and stopped at the monitor. He stood there astonished. There she was in all her glory!
“My name, for those of you who don’t know, is Y/N. I’m here to shake up the women’s division.”
The crowd boos her as she gets in the ring with all the women on the roster and she just smiles, making Corbin smirk. She loves playing the villain.
“I can understand why some of you don’t like me. I did dominate the women down in NXT, but I’m here now, and after you all have your money in the bank match, I’ll be taking you out, one by one. That is until I get the championship. This is going to be my ring and my division now.”
Corbin applauds as his fiance comes through the curtain. She runs to to him and he swoops her up. She wraps her arms around his neck as their lips finally crash into a passionate kiss.
“Get a room!”
The kiss is broken by them looking over at one of her best friends, Becky Lynch smirking. Corbin looks at y/n and whispers
“That’s not a bad idea.”
He lets her feet hit the ground and he takes her hand as he leads them to his locker room. The door closes behind them and they go to a couch in the back of the room. He sits down and she straddles his waist. She leans down and starts kissing his neck.
“Mhm, y/n i missed you.”
She smiles against his neck and kisses kissing.
“I want a baby.”
Y/n stops and looks at her finance. His hands slide up and down her back.
“A baby? Baron we aren’t even married yet.”
“I know, I know. I’m just sayin, when we are married. I mean if you are up for it.”
She smiles as she can tell he is very serious.
“I never thought I would see the day that The Lone Wolf would want a baby.”
He chuckles and kisses her lips gently.
“Maybe this lone wolf finally wants a pack of his own.”
Ello! Yes my first Baron Corbin imagine. I wanted to make him a little on the softer side since we are used to the angry version.
Chapter 165: Tears and Fears
Victoria answered the door and was not surprised to see the Collector there.
"Did you bring it?" she questioned, as she allowed him inside.
"Yes...but we have other problems," he hissed.
"And none of those are my concern," she hissed back.
"They should be...they're awake and the you know what is glowing," he explained.
"Good...then that means it has power and I know them. They'll do anything to save someone they love, especially if they know what they've already lost. They'll use it to help me regain what I have lost and keep from losing another of their precious little family," Victoria surmised, as she poured herself a drink.
"You don't understand...we give them the chalice and the curse will begin to unravel at an even more alarming rate!" he cried.
"All things come to an end, Collector. The Charmings now know what I feel. They have lost a child and now I will regain mine," Victoria responded.
"It's too soon...making this move now will ensure that everything we have worked for goes up in flames!" he insisted.
"Yes...I heard Captain Weaver is investigating you. Give me what I need now and I can give you something to make sure his investigation ceases," she tempted.
"You don't have that kind of power," he refuted.
"Oh, but I do...maybe I didn't there, but I am head of Belfry Industries here," she promised. He clenched his teeth. He hated trusting this woman, but she had proven to be ruthless in the past. Samdi had his own agenda and wanted the chalice as badly as Clayton did, which he knew meant at some point, he would have to double cross Samdi before the other man double crossed him. But Victoria's only interest in the chalice was making the Charmings use it to revive Lucy once she sacrificed her to save Anastasia. Then she cared little as to what happened to it and if he used the right tools to force them, he'd have Snow and David under his thumb.
"Fine...here it is," he said, as he handed the briefcase to her. She opened it and found the book inside of it...the original book.
"How did you pry it away from young Bobby?" she inquired. He smirked.
"The boy is so overjoyed to have his parents back that he foolishly left the book at home today. I paid a common thief to get in through the window while they were gone today," he revealed. She smirked.
"Always a pleasure, Clayton. See yourself out," she said.
"If you don't come through...I'll ruin you," he warned, but she ignored his threat and headed for Lucy's room.
"Grandma?" Lucy asked in a sleepy tone, as the woman came into her room.
"I'm sorry to wake you, darling...but this couldn't wait until morning," she said. Lucy rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and gazed at the book with wide eyes.
"Why do you have the book?" she asked.
"I borrowed it...I wanted to show you something," Victoria replied. Lucy smiled, as she looked through it with her, seeing her great grandparents have their happy ending and defeat all the evil villains.
"You were right, Lucy," she said quietly. The little girl's eyes widened in surprise.
"You remember?" she asked in surprise.
"Yes...I do and that's why I can no longer let you live this lie…" she replied. Lucy's brow furrowed.
"Lie?" she asked.
"Yes...your great grandparents have gotten their happy ending before, but it never lasts. Something always spoils it, because I am afraid that is the way of the world. Happy endings don't last and I'm afraid theirs has been destroyed forever, as mine has," Victoria explained.
"But that's not true! Great Grampa Charming and Great Gramma Snow are together now! They're happy and in love!" Lucy refuted.
"That is true...but your Nana Emma is dead and now that they remember that, their happiness will be forever marred by that. Happy endings are not real, Lucy...they are fleeting. And once you accept that, the easier it will be," she stated.
"No...no!" Lucy cried, as Victoria swiped one of her tears away.
"I'm sorry, it's true sweetheart. But Snow White and Prince Charming are heartbroken. They'll never be the same now that they've lost a child. Believe me, I know all about that. They have already lost hope that things will ever be okay again," she said, as Lucy hurried out of bed and ran for the door. Victoria didn't stop her this time, knowing it soon would not matter where Lucy was. She looked at the tear on her fingertip and dropped in a vial for safekeeping.
Cassidy Gold returned to his post at the museum after overhearing the conversation between Baron Samdi and Captain Weaver. It was very curious and daresay a bit insane sounding. He wasn't sure he had ever heard correctly and couldn't help but wonder why Samdi had called Weaver...Rumpelstiltskin.
"I don't chat...so get to the point and get out," Weaver growled.
"So hostile...yet it is me that has true reason to hate you, Rumpelstiltskin," Samdi snapped in return.
Was Rumpelstiltskin some kind of nickname? He supposed it could be meant to be an insult, though he could think of a thousand better and more obvious insults to sling at someone you hated. And he seemed to hate Weaver over some woman named Regina. Now that Cassidy understood to a degree. There was no quicker way to come between two men than a woman, though he had no idea who this Regina was. But when Samdi started talking about curses and the Charmings and then called him the Dark One, Cassidy's head started to spin a bit. None of it made any sense at all and he knew questioning Weaver about it would just lead to a door in his face. He had no idea Weaver even had a son, but then he guessed he really knew nothing about the man. Still...the conversation kept tugging at his mind and he had no idea why. It all sounded like a bunch of nonsense. And then there was the woman he had run into...Harmony. He had probably walked past her desk a dozen times, but only when he was face to face with her had he felt something familiar about her.
"Is it still glowing?" he suddenly heard Clayton say, as he rounded the corner. He acted nonchalant and played his part as the security guard he was posing to be.
"Confronting Weaver was foolhardy. He knows we have it," Clayton growled, as he walked into his office.
"If they are awake, then they will be looking for their chalice, especially if they remember what happened to her," Clayton warned. Cassidy's brow furrowed. He had heard Samdi and Weaver discussing some chalice too and he wondered why some cup was so important. Clayton did run a museum full of ancient artifacts though. Was that why he was here? Was Clayton involved in the dealing of illegal antiquities? It would make sense why Weaver wanted him on the inside. And was Baron Samdi involved somehow?
"Now that it's glowing again...moving it is impossible. I'll have to do something to distract the Charmings," Clayton said, as he hung up. Cassidy was even more confused than before, but he would report what he heard to Weaver, even if it made absolutely no sense to him whatsoever.
Victoria walked into the private room where her daughter Anastasia was being kept now and since she had recovered her coffin. The official story was that Anastasia was in a coma due to an accident, which wasn't untrue. This had all began when she had fallen into icy waters many years ago and Marcus had failed to save her. But his precious Ella lived, while the light of her life, her Anastasia almost drew her last breath. But now...she finally had a way to rectify that. She opened her daughter's eyelid and poured the tear in...
Jacinda angrily cleaned up the kitchen in their small apartment, while Sabine looked on.
"How long is this cold shoulder treatment going to go on?" she questioned. Jacinda stopped scrubbing and looked up.
"Losing my job is only half of what could have happened to us!" Jacinda cried.
"The cops said the fire was an accident! It might have caught fire anyway. Your boss isn't exactly up to code on his kitchen," Sabine argued.
"The cops ruled it an accident, because Detective Nolan stepped in and told them it was an accident! I don't even know why he would do that for us! I'm just a casual friend of Mary's," she lamented.
"Then we thank him for covering for us. He's a good guy and we made mistakes. He's cutting us a break and knows your boss is a jerk," Sabine reasoned.
"That still doesn't change the fact that I don't have a job now and we won't be able to make rent next month," she said.
"It's over...my attempt to get Lucy back is over before it's even started," she said, as she tossed the towel down. Sabine looked on, knowing that this was her fault and she was devastated to think that she might be the one to cost Jacinda custody of her daughter.
"Aunt Sabine…" Lucy cried, as she burst in the door.
"Lucy…" she exclaimed, as she watched the girl fall to the floor.
"Jacinda!" she cried, as she tried to get Lucy to wake up. But she was unresponsive.
"LUCY!" Jacinda cried, as she crashed to her knees beside Sabine.
"What's wrong?" she cried.
"I don't know...she doesn't have any wounds, but she won't wake up!" Sabine cried, as Jacinda cradled her daughter.
"What was she even doing out this time of night?!" Jacinda wondered, but she knew Lucy was well known for wandering away from her step-mother's home.
"Call 9-1-1-!" she implored, as Sabine grabbed her phone with shaky hands.
Storybrooke - 2023
"And that's pretty much the story. I managed to survive long enough until Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff came along and here we are," Emma explained.
"My Gods…" Robin uttered.
"They're cursed again…" Belle said sorrowfully.
"Yeah...and my parents, even if they do remember, will think I'm dead. I'm not sure how I even survived as long as I did," Emma replied.
"And you have no idea where this curse took them?" James asked. Emma shook her head.
"All Clayton said was that it was taking them to a big city where it would be impossible for everyone to be reunited. They're not isolated together like Storybrooke was. They're living among ordinary people from this land, but big city doesn't really narrow it down much," Emma explained.
"There has to be a way to figure out where it took them, right? It's magic...doesn't it have a signature that can be somehow traced?" Elsa questioned.
"I'm not sure I would even know where to begin," Belle lamented.
"But I think I might," Aphrodite offered, as all attention turned to her.
"How?" Robin asked.
"Elsa is right...everything is recorded for all the realms and stored in a safe place. There will be a book that will tell us where they are," Aphrodite surmised.
"A book? Where would this book be?" Belle asked.
"In the largest library in all the realms," Aphrodite said, with a smile, but no one seemed to be catching on.
"In Rose Red's library! Her family has been the guardians of all information for many centuries. We need to visit Rose Red and Fandral," she announced.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Emma exclaimed.
"Hold on...you can't go. There's magic there," James reminded. Emma's heart sank.
"I won't be left behind...my family needs me! They think I'm dead...I have to fix that! There has to be some way to fix my heart," she said.
"Without being able to rip your heart and seeing what I'm dealing with...I'm not sure how to fix this one. It doesn't seem to be quite the same as the poison Hook was dealing with," Aphrodite replied.
"Yeah...it wasn't. It didn't matter who I got close to...it was just poisoned," Emma told her. Aphrodite nodded.
"Since it seems to be a more general poison, I may be able to brew an elixir for you to drink so you can make the trip. It won't cure it, but may treat the symptoms until I can figure out what we're dealing with," she said.
"You go do that and we'll pack for our journey and get a few beans from Tiny," Robin said.
"I'll help you with the elixir," Belle said, as he plucked a hair from Emma, as it would probably be essential to brewing the potion work specifically for her.
"We'll stay with Emma until you return," Elsa said, as they parted ways. She sighed.
"This has to work," Emma lamented. Elsa put her hands on the other blonde's shoulders.
"It will...we'll find them, Emma. What is it that your parents always tell you?" Elsa asked. Emma smiled, as her eyes watered at the thought of them.
"Have faith...and hope," she answered. Elsa nodded.
"I have faith and hope that we will find them and so should you," the Queen stated. Emma nodded and squeezed her hand, grateful that she was no longer facing any of this alone...
"Paging Dr. Aeson…" the nurse said over the intercom, as the stretcher burst through the doors with Lucy on the stretcher.
"What do we have?" Jenna asked.
"Ten-year-old female, collapsed in her home, unresponsive," the paramedic explained.
"Vitals are there, but subdued. She's in a coma...I want blood and a full toxicology screen," Jenna ordered, as Lucy was taken to a room.
"Please help her...she was at her grandmother's and then came home. She just collapsed!" Jacinda said, nearly hysterical.
"I'm going to do everything I can...I'll let you know when I know more," Jenna promised, as she hurried off to tend to her new patient.
"Jacinda?" Henry asked, as he burst in.
"Henry?" she questioned in confusion.
"David and Mary called me…" he said, as he saw the couple enter behind him. She didn't know how they knew, but didn't really care and collapsed into Henry's arms. He hugged her tightly.
"It's going to be okay...she'll be okay," he tried to reassure her.
"We'll get you both some coffee," Mary offered, as she and David joined hands. In reality, they were headed off to find Victoria, for they knew she could be found behind all of this.
"I came as soon as I heard," Nick Branson said breathlessly, as he burst into the waiting room.
"Nick…" Jacinda uttered.
"Who is this?" Henry asked.
"Oh...this is the attorney that's helping me with my custody case to get Lucy back," she said, seeming a bit nervous.
"I'm also Lucy's biological dad...nice to meet you," he said, offering his hand.
"Uh yeah...nice to meet you," Henry replied, as Roni and Weaver looked on with scrutinizing stares. They knew exactly who and what this man was and the fact that he was anywhere near Lucy and Jacinda was troublesome to say the least. But they were about to get an even bigger shock.
"Hey babe...I got you a coffee. Anything?" Luke asked. Nick smirked and put his arm around Luke's waist, before sneaking a look at Roni, whose face was suddenly filled with horror. He smirked evilly at her and kissed Luke's cheek.
"Thanks love...and no, no word yet," he said. Roni turned away and tried to calm herself.
"Keep it together...you can't lose it on him here," Weaver warned.
"Please tell me this can't be...please tell me that my grandson isn't with that murderer!" she hissed. Weaver sighed.
"Jack knows what he's doing. He's wormed his way into our lives quite thoroughly in this land. Pretending to be Lucy's biological father wasn't enough sadism for him it seems. Trust me, I had no idea he had found Leo and interjected himself into his life," Weaver answered and she could tell by how bothered he was that it was the truth. Rumple did not like it when there were things beyond his control.
"Snow and David are going to lose their minds once they know that their son is sleeping with a murderer. He's in danger! I have to do something!" she exclaimed.
"They...they've already lost one child...we can't let them lose another," she added softly.
He sighed.
"Then we need to catch him in the act...he'll strike again soon," Weaver offered, though it was little consolation.
"Mother...what's happened? This is a very strange place," Anastasia said, as she looked around at the machines and wires.
"It is a very long story, my sweet girl...but the most important thing is that you're back," she said, with happy tears.
"So...you've gone and done it…" Drizella said with disdain, as she entered the room.
"Who are you?" Anastasia asked.
"Well...I was your younger sister. But when you died, mother couldn't let you go so she turned to a witch that used dark magic to preserve your last breath," Drizella explained.
"Drizella…" Victoria warned.
"And now...she used our niece to revive you. While you live...Lucy will die, but it doesn't matter to our Mother, as long as she has her precious Anastasia back. To hell with the rest of us," she added bitterly.
"Mother...did you really do that?" Anastasia asked.
"She did...and now our great granddaughter is dying," Snow growled, as she and David appeared in the doorway.
"Don't stand there all self-righteous and tell me that you two would not do anything to bring back your precious Emma…" Victoria growled back.
"We'd never kill another person, especially not a child...not even to bring Emma back to us," David snapped.
"We love Emma and we miss her…" Snow said, as her voice broke in grief.
"But we would never do the evil things you've done," she cried.
"Then why don't you go do what you do best and save the day with true love and goodness," Victoria said in disdain.
"What are you talking about?" David questioned.
"You two are here, yelling at me for what I've done...but you're the ones with the power to save Lucy," she reminded. Snow looked stunned and exchanged a glance with her husband.
"The chalice...even if it we knew where it was; it doesn't have power here," David refuted. She smirked at him, like she knew something he didn't.
"Are you sure?" she questioned.
"Then where is it?" Snow demanded to know.
"Oh, I have no idea where the Collector has stashed it. Finding it is up to you...so if you fail to do so...then it will be your fault if Lucy dies," Victoria said smugly.
"We'll find a way to make you pay for this," David promised, as he took her hand and led his wife out.
"Now dear...where were we," she said, as she prepared to explain this world to her beloved daughter. But Anastasia pulled her hand away.
"No...how could you do those things, mother?" she asked. Drizella smirked.
"Ana...I did them for you," Victoria pleaded, but the girl shook her head and the brunette swept in to comfort her.
"I told her how wrong it was, Ana...how she couldn't use a child in exchange for your life. But she wouldn't listen...she ignored me all these years and did horrible things to get you back. That couple that was just here...they lost so much, because of our mother," Drizella said.
"Get out…" Ana told their mother.
"Ana no…" Victoria pleaded.
"Get out!" she cried. Victoria stepped out of the room, but this was only a temporary setback. She would get Anastasia to see why she had done what she had and how she had done it for their future.
Snow and David came back out into the waiting room, only to find Jenna talking with Jacinda.
"Anastasia is awake," Snow announced quietly to them.
"So she did it…" Roni realized.
"She said that we could wake Lucy...with the chalice," David said, looking for reaction on Weaver's face.
"It's likely her only chance...you need to find it," he said.
"Then we need to go confront Clayton," David replied.
"Except...I don't think the Collector has it. Someone else does," Weaver interjected.
"Who?" Snow asked, her brow furrowing. Weaver glanced at Roni and she rolled her eyes.
"Please tell me it's not him…" she protested.
"Who?" David asked.
"Baron Samdi...he and I had words earlier this evening. I believe he came to the station, intending to poke around my locker," Weaver replied.
"What would he be looking for in your locker?" Snow asked.
"The dagger...he wants revenge on me personally," Weaver answered.
"Why?" David asked. Regina sighed.
"Because of me...I broke off our...dalliance years ago to cast the curse. He's not over it, especially since I'm with Robin," she answered.
"But he doesn't know you're awake," Weaver reminded. David's eyes widened.
"Do you think that you could distract him while we find the chalice?" he asked. Regina huffed.
"Excuse me...but I am not doing that," she refuted. Snow put her hands up.
"We would never ask you to go that far...but if you could maybe call him and invite him to the bar for a drink. You told me he would come by the bar periodically before I started working there," Snow reminded. Regina sighed.
"Fine...but you two need to be quick," she said, as she dialed his number.
"Samdi...it's Roni. I've been thinking about that drink you wanted to have," she said.
"That was weeks ago...I was beginning to think you forgot," he replied.
"Well...I haven't and a friend's child is in trouble. I guess I just need someone to talk to. Can you come by?" she asked.
"I'm terribly sorry to hear about your friend, but how about I do better than that and you come to my place?" he questioned. She cursed silently.
"Your place?" she asked, looking at them. They nodded and she rolled her eyes.
"I'll see you in a few," she answered, as she hung up.
"How are you two going to search his house if he's in it?" she asked. They exchanged a glance.
"We'll have to get creative," David said. She huffed, as they prepared to leave on this mission when Snow spotted Luke there.
"It's Luke...why is here?" she asked.
"Um Snow…" Roni started to say, but it was too late, as she saw Jack's arm go around her son's waist.
"What the hell is that monster doing with our son?" she growled, as she started to advance. But David grabbed her around the waist and held her back.
"Whoa feisty...hang on," he admonished.
"David...that's Jack! We know who he is and what he does!" she exclaimed.
"Except here he is Nick Branson, Jacinda's attorney and Lucy's biological father," Weaver countered.
"You've got to be kidding me," David replied.
"And Luke's boyfriend, apparently," Roni said, as the man met their eyes with a smug smirk.
"I'm going to kill him," Snow growled.
"If we go over there like we're his parents, he's going to think we're crazy," David reminded.
"He's right," Roni agreed and Snow huffed.
"We can't just let him do this...what if he hurts Luke?" she feared.
"He knows we're watching him...and your son is more of a trophy to him right now. He's safe for now and we will get him. But if we do not get the chalice back...then none of this matters. None of this can ever be fixed," Weaver reminded.
"He's right...we'll deal with him soon enough, my darling. But Lucy must come first right now," he reasoned. She nodded and gave Nick a shooting glare, warning him. If anything happened to her babies because of him...she would grind him into dust with her bare hands. With that, she let David lead her out with Roni following them.
"What's wrong with her?" Jacinda asked in a broken voice.
"We're not sure," Dr. Aeson reported.
"We're still running tests and I'll admit...we're a bit baffled by it. We can find nothing wrong, but for whatever reason, your daughter has slipped into a coma," Jenna reported.
"Can't you do anything?" Henry asked.
"I promise I'm doing everything I can. I'll let you know when I get some of those test results back," Jenna said sympathetically.
"Man...don't you just wish sometimes you could magically heal people?" Nick commented. Jenna gave him an odd look and then nodded.
"I suppose so...but unfortunately, that's not possible. We'll have to trust modern medicine," she said, as she went to check on her patient. Nick's eyes watched her, as she left and he smirked deviously.
Storybrooke - 2023
Kristoff whistled in boredom, as they waited for the others to return.
"So...you think Bobby and Summer might at least be with one of your parents?" Elsa asked curiously.
"I hope so. Summer used a bubble. She was able to put Bobby in one completely and he was holding onto my mom. She put herself partially in one too and Dad was holding her. I just hope it was enough," Emma said.
"You know, Leo and Eva are old enough to be on their own. But not Bobby and Summer," she lamented.
"And you're afraid they're alone like you were until you were ten," Kristoff said bluntly. The three women all looked at him.
"What?" he asked and they all chuckled.
"Yeah...that's what I'm worried about," Emma said.
"Well...we have to have hope, right? Isn't that what your Mom would say?" Anna asked. Emma smiled and nodded.
"It's exactly what she would say and I do have hope. My parents...I don't care what distance is separating them, because it won't last," Emma said. Elsa smiled.
"Because they'll find each other," the Queen said. Emma nodded.
"And we'll find them...including my brother," she told her slyly, enjoying Elsa's blush. Aphrodite and the others reappeared in a puff of smoke.
"We've got it...this should work," she said, as Emma took a deep breath and stepped over the line. The poison immediately reacted, but James kept her from falling. She took a sip of the elixir and the pain subsided, allowing her to stand up.
"It worked…" she said, with a smile.
"You'll need another sip in an hour. This should be enough for the extended trip until you find your way to the Land Without Magic," Aphrodite replied. Emma nodded and hugged her Uncle and the Goddess.
"We'll watch over Storybrooke while you're gone," he said.
"Thanks Uncle James," she replied, as she, Robin, Roland, Belle, Gideon, and their friends from Arendelle prepared to venture to what they called the Enchanted Forest two, or more specifically, the Kingdom of Fandral and Rose Red.
"Let's go find our family," Emma said, as Robin tossed the bean and they stepped through the portal...
RIP ~ For Skywarp's Joe Team
Send RIP and I’ll write a drabble of my Muse dying.
The Joes were called to take care of yet another Baron Karza issue on Earth. The team was all geared up. Rock was nestled into Skywarp’s cockpit, blasting hard rock, all the while the rest of the team was in an aircraft following them. But they didn’t know, none of them knew what was in store for their precious asset.
Baron Karza’s armada implemented a new weapon to take down the Joes once and for all. But for which one?
“GAH—!”
It came in a blink of an eye. So small that it would have gone unnoticed, except for the downed Ex-Decepticon, clutching at his torso. The dark mech took off, distancing himself away from his team with no idea what was happening to his frame. It was almost similar to what happened the first time when he first encountered Karza’s armada—but this time was different, very different.
Skywarp collapsed to the ground in a earth-shaking thunk. It felt as if his inner-workings were melting him from the inside out. His radioactive warp-drive was already taken out of him, the piece of him that was killing him—felt as if it was happening again but without that missing link.
Little did he know that his team came up to him, Rock was the first to arrive over. The Joe stared at him, “Bro, you okay?”
“Rock… I’m not…
     going to make it this time..”
“But you’re our valuable asset man. What am I going to do for transpo once you’re gone?” Rock retorted back to Skywarp, trying to make something positive out of a negative situation.
The rest of his team arrived; all of them worried about their partner, their team member.
“You’ll just have to find.. another important jet.” Skywarp could think of one but didn’t state that name.
They couldn’t lose their partner. The Joes could never replace him; no one could ever take Skywarp’s place. He was a Joe like the rest of them. His team went through a rough ride to come and rescue this asset; they weren’t ready to lose him so easily.
Skywarp guessed his time had come—he wished it was another way. Rock and Skywarp had gone through countless acts of sacrificing themselves in order to save the world but this time, it wasn’t that same situation. That was the way he wanted to go out—not like this. Downed by some dumb technology. He didn’t die from those damned Dire Wraths, so why this? He wasn’t weak!
The Joes watched their downed partner slowly offline. Who knew how sad it could be to see a dying alien? Then again, he wasn’t just a regular old alien, he was special. He was theirs.
“The Joes, you guys… you’re the best thing…. the best thing that has ever happened to me.” It was a true statement. This team was the only team that had made him feel whole. The entire team worried and cared for him. He never got anything like that out of the Decepticons, then again being open to such things wasn’t normal, it was voodoo to them. Thundercracker was an exception in this situation but even that at this time no longer mattered. Skywarp’s plating rattled as he optics began to dim.
“You’re the best Joe one could ever ask for Skywarp,” true words spoken from Scarlett, though all of the Joes thought the same way.
“We’ll find those who did this to you—to make things right man.” Rock would find those who did this and reign hell on them. No one took his best bud and transpo from him. The big damned jet wasn’t supposed to die.
“Yo Joe…” Were the last words that came out of Skywarp’s mouth before the mech offlined completely. His team…heartbroken.
“Base—We need transport out here to move Skywarp outta here.”
