“Razia’s Shadow” Theory: Toba the Tura and Dr. Dumaya
Okay. Here's something that abruptly occurred to me this morning.
We all know how everyone (minus O, whose creations were the angels to begin with) from the pre-mountain days has two descendants in either the Light or the Dark. Such as... Nidria's descendants are Malka and Anhura... Ahrima's are Pallis and Adakias... Gargul's are Baba and Baruka (all three are tellers of the prophecy)... And Toba's is just... Sangara (the butler guy)???
Why does everyone else have two descendants, except for Toba? Then it hit me. There's one more person left in the Dark. Dr. Dumaya.
He's the second descendant to Toba and nobody else. Let me explain.
Firstly, THIS HELPS MY "BARAYAS ISN'T REAL THEORY". Most people think that Dumaya is Barayas's descendant because of the similar names and the association with spiders, but... There's one problem with that. Where the heck did Barayas go after the fire that burnt the land??? If my "Barayas isn't real" theory is correct, then this would only leave Toba to be the ancestor... And this makes a bit too much sense.
Evidence: 1. If Dumaya was Toba's descendant, this fixes the (plausible) plot hole of Toba only having one descendant instead of two like everyone else.
2. The association with spiders still makes sense. Since Toba didn't take Ahrima seriously even though he was "technically" tricked by a spider (even if he was just a hallucination), then his descendant being plagued to work with spiders is an ironic punishment.
3. If you don't count Baba Bawaba and Baruka Bawaba... ...Toba the Tura and Dr. Dumaya are the only two characters left who have names that are alliterations. Both names also include titles ("Tura" and "Doctor").
4. And, most importantly... Since Toba was the one who banished Ahrima to the Dark... Dumaya being either killed/knocked unconscious and winding up unable to help try and revive Adakias after his stabbing is a pretty dark parallel. So, in other words, both Toba and Dumaya led to the worst moment of both Ahrima and Adakias's lives.
5. Dumaya’s hut is described as being “made of broken glass”. Like... A broken lamp? And when does Toba show up? ...Right after Ahrima has broken the lamps.
6. Also, something that was completely mirrored between them and is probably just a coincidence is... Toba basically pushes Ahrima as far away as possible while Dumaya wanted to keep Anhura as close as possible.
I have no idea of this made any sense, but that was just a weird thought I had.
