2. Do you prefer the 2D or 3D games (in terms of style or the games in general)?

i really need to hand it to the pixel style, i think it just struck the perfect feeling for the series and the environments in both pixel games are just absolutely gorgeous in the style.... gti and psmd had good environments but idk if i can say the style did them justice (ESPECIALLY in gti's case. i love glacier palace but just compare its ingame model to how its portrayed in the animated trailer... it was one of the first 3ds games so i cant be too hard on it, but still. psmd is better with its animations and environments but i still felt as tho some areas could look better. if we get more games in dx's style tho id be up for it...)

3. Which final boss and/or final dungeon do you like the most (whether from a narrative or gameplay perspective)?

well i have different final boss preferences on narrative and gameplay so ill give two sjdklfjsdf

narratively its primal dialga. i love how fight to the finish, while heroic, sounds almost somber at times, like how the hero KNOWS theyre going to disappear after this, but is still fighting to save the world. i also love how organic the final boss is, i liked the concept in gti but i dont really like how psmd made the final boss another "manifestation" deal when yveltal was right there. i just kinda like it when its a corrupt pokemon that needs saving in its own way, with its spinoff-exclusive design. so, primal dialga! in every way the battle feels like a culmination of everything, from the leitmotifs in the song to the arena itself.

my issue with it gameplay-wise is the roar of time move. the way that the game hinges on you bringing as many reviver seeds as possible bc it usually one-shots you in normal gameplay is really annoying and needed better balancing.

gameplay-wise, its dark matter! i do have issues w it narratively (or at least with the buildup) so its not my fave there, but the gameplay for it is magnificent. i LOVE the two phases, i love how it starts with hero and partner evolved, only for them to devolve and save the tree of life without its help, i love the environment and how its the boxart of the game (!!) the music slaps, and i found the tile segments to be SUPER fun. idk i always have a good time with the dark matter battle, again i have issues w it narratively but its a fun time!

10. Which ending do you like the most?

ohhh hard one. it kinda depends on whether you count the postgame i guess? bc i love the main story ending for explorers, with how the hero knew they were going to die but couldnt tell partner til it happened, partner spreading the story but falling into a mindless routine to deal with their grief, to breaking down at the spot where the two first met, thats absolutely beautiful, but i dont care for the darkrai stuff in the actual postgame ending. and then gates to infinity's ending still makes me cry. yeah, the ending is more spontaneous (part of why i like explorer's ending is bc its gradual and hero knowing abt their death just. hits so much more when they go on with it anyways) but everyone defying the literal laws of the universe to remember the hero because they love them THAT much... fuck dude. i was in shambles. i am still in shambles. and then the postgame being about partner trying to get them back and succeeding, how they also fall into a depressed routine but dont know if they want to bring back hero bc they dont want to deny them their birth place so they can be together, only for their friends to encourage it and give hero the choice to go back and forth, and the hero chooses to come back... thats good shit. i really cant choose between those two, it depends on what you count as the ending i guess

I know this is definitely because Ryoma’s my favorite of the v3 cast but I love how everyone in the v3 cast canonically look at his mopey ‘leave me alone’ act and say ‘nope! You are now part of the Friend Group and you can’t escape that!’. Everyone looks at ryoma being sad and all say That Is Not Allowed. Bless them for that, really.

really? i guess i didn't get a lot of that in my time going through v3, but maybe i'm misremembering. i recall kaito calling ryoma pathetic (which i think was more just a result of the crippling disappointment that accompanies one's idol having a fall from power + kaito's general inability to express negative emotion by means other than lashing out) and im sure kaede and shuichi like, Wanted to help him, but it was the kind of thing they didn't know how to talk about, so they sort of. didn't. like. it's hard to broach that. especially when ryoma is so steadfast in his beliefs about not having anything to live for

i remember his death ingame being sort of treated with like, indifference. bit of guilt from kaito, some maybe-genuine tears from kokichi (but you never KNOW if it's real with kokichi, is the thing). everyone was mainly just tired and upset by the prospect of having to do a trial again. shuichi seemed more upset about the fact that he lost A friend, Any friend, than he was about losing ryoma specifically. ryoma's death was sort of overshadowed by kirumi's whole prime minister thing. nobody cared that she'd taken advantage of ryoma's Mental Illness to get out of there. i think they sort of justified it to themselves by being like "well, he wanted to die anyway"

which, by the way, is SO incredibly fucked up. what happened to ryoma is a tragedy. he deserved to grow and heal and get himself to a place where he could finally be happy and love again. preferably with cats. everything about ryoma's backstory was so freaking sad, he needed a heaping of therapy, not capital punishment. the fact that the death penalty exists, not to mention that they put it on a minor... yeesh. i understand it's a complex issue and i won't claim to be blind to all the nuance but i'm just saying ryoma should not have been put on death row

sorry this sort of goes away from what you were saying. to be clear, i don't really think the solution to ryoma's problems is forced inclusivity. ryoma Did want to be a part of the group, and be friends with everyone, but he had so much baggage, and the freaking motive videos gave him something to cling to. he treated it like if he saw it and remembered something that he magically hadn't lost, he would be "whole" again. (subsequently crushing that hope with what ryoma's actual motive video showed btw? cruel. fucking heartless. but nvm) that's not a healthy way to cope with your depression and want to die by any means

what ryoma needed was to realise that the only real reason for him to live was for the sake of living. i think he did, like, when kirumi was actively drowning him, but that doesn't exactly help lol. he needed to stop basing his worth around people and things. what happened to him was fucking awful, imagine losing everyone you love, but the motive video was NEVER going to fix him. and i think when kokichi told him who had his video, he knew that, and i like to think he was trying to help ryoma move on, but. yknow. kirumi :/

after that, after ryoma comes to terms with those facts, then he needed to work on acknowledging that this all isn't set in stone. that he CAN love again, and be loved again, and be happy. then he can consider himself a part of the friend group, and heal. ryoma deserved that and im so mad about what happened to him and how it was just cast aside. fucking tragedy

erm <3 sorry to pop off on you i have a lot of ryoma thoughts. i think his recovery will require more than just a himbo or a herbo to force him to join in/make him remember what it means to be happy again. i think ryoma needs therapy, and time, and yeah, yeah, a good amount of love.

Seer: Passive knowing class. Usually gathers information on their aspect from afar. Inverse class: Witch.

Time: Second cardinal aspect. It's uh, time. Can also relate somewhat to death, and the futility of entropy.

We know from most all sources in HS that Seers tend to be sort of dope as hell. But for the Seer of Time, their life is likely not nearly as dope as they are.

They've seen death. Like, a lot of it. Not personally, obviously, otherwise they'd be dead, but they've definitely experienced many a loss in their family and suffered the mental toll that has. They seem constantly worried for their friends, but never really do anything to push them in the right entropal direction. They know they cannot prevent death, so they instead adopt a view that they can avoid all possible ways they could die (which they obviously cannot.)

Godtiering is hard for this hero, both mentally and literally. Their weapon is far too blunt to kill themselves with (sharp things are scary!) but by the same token they achieve immortality by dying.

Okay now let's actually get to the Time part of this. Seeing Time is an interesting ability to have -- perhaps a mystic, or some inane ability to guess the time. I wouldn't doubt if they had tarot cards and used those quite often.

Ingame they'd have an uncanny knack for being able to predict the future. Not perfectly, mind you, but rather accurately. Besides which, they might be able to accurately predict one's death. Time players may also have a knack for rhythm, perhaps a Seer is simply able to multitask? Or manage several appointments at a time, or something.
