Earlier this year I made a post outlining Akari’s Hisui team; I’ve been meaning to do one for her pre-Hisui team as well!
I put some thought into these choices as well, as just like the first team I put together, I appreciate how @tjs-stuffs analyzes different pokemon trainers’ teams to see what it says about them.
Dawn’s Pokemon team choices and reasonings why are listed below.
—————
LADY ♀ | LVL 43 PURUGLY
SASSY NATURE
Akari/Dawn’s “starter”. Dawn did not get a lab-provided starter pokemon as she did not follow that path and begin a journey at ten. So her starter was one of her mom’s pokemon; her (at the time) glameow was her pokemon that Dawn was closest to, and her pokemon most experienced with contests, and so Johanna gave Lady to Dawn as her first pokemon to start doing contests with.
There isn’t anything about the Glameow line that really lends itself to Dawn’s character, but due to the anime I know people are aware that Johanna has a glameow, so I wanted Dawn to have one to cement that connection a little.
—————
BLINK ♀ | LVL 41 LUMINEON
ADAMANT NATURE
As a wild finneon it was familiar with Dawn, friendly with her when she was little, and hung around when she’d play by the ponds near her town. Lucas helped her catch it as she wanted a water pokemon to be with her when starting a team; she was not a strong swimmer. A buizel was suggested for this, but Dawn wanted her childhood friend.
The Lumineon line is noted to attract its prey by lingering in the dark and using its bioluminescence to draw them in, but this very same light will attract its own predators too. This was a characteristic that made me want to put it on her Hisui Team — her “light” is what brought her her opportunities in Hisui, but it was also what caught Volo’s attention and made him turn on her.
In the end Mantine won over Lumineon, but I still wanted Dawn to have one for the similarities, so I put one on her Pre-Hisui team.
—————
CORAL ♀ | LVL 40 GOREBYSS
ADAMANT NATURE
Dawn’s first Pokémon caught outside of Sinnoh, when on a trip to Hoenn with her mom to do her first contest with her. It was beached and needed help. She caught it, and Lucas later traded with her to help it evolve — she went with Gorebyss as she thought it was pretty and would pair very well with Blink in contests.
There is not much about Gorebyss that connects it to Dawn’s character. Rather, I made the pick based on Dawn’s preferences for a Pokemon that might do well and look nice in contests.
—————
SHERBET ♂ | LVL 45 BEARTIC
LAX NATURE
Dawn’s second pokemon that came from outside of Sinnoh, on a trip with her mother to do a musical in Unova. Johanna had actually caught it as a cubchoo when Dawn was very young as she had met and gotten attached to it. It was not much a fan of participating in contests, however. Johanna traded it to Dawn when she began to show an interest in battling, as it was much more invested in battles and wanted to go with her.
While there is not much to connect it to Dawn with, I picked the cubchoo line as I saw that they were a pokemon actually mentioned by name in PLA, despite not actually being present in the game. I liked the PLA connection to a non-PLA pokemon.

—————
ALLOY | LVL 43 BRONZONG
MODEST NATURE
Dawn’s first pokemon she caught herself after considering turning away from coordinating to be a trainer. Caught as a bronzor, it had been attracted to her location after watching her training attempts in Mt. Coronet’s caves. It was inspired and wanted to join her team to train with her.
I picked the Bronzor line as Bronzong are pokemon noted to have come from ancient times, 2,000 years ago, and were supposedly revered for its powers to open portals from other worlds to bring rain and help crops thrive. I thought it was fitting seeing as Dawn went back around 200 years instead, and came through a “portal” with people believing she had something special about her.
—————
NANO | LVL 27 ROTOM
QUIRKY NATURE
Dawn’s last Pokemon she added to her team. A rotom was a Pokemon she’d wanted for a while — at first for coordinating, due to its ability to change into many different forms, and then for its versatility in battle; it could serve well in both categories — and after training her team up a little more, she went out in search of one. So she tracked it down in the Old Chateau. It took multiple attempts over many nights to catch it.
I picked Rotom for Dawn’s team because a Rotom is one of the most versatile and adaptable pokemon out there, able to switch between many forms with no permanence or final decisions. Dawn is supposed to be someone who can adapt to fit many different situations; it’s how she survives in Hisui. And even before Hisui, she was balancing options as both a trainer and a coordinator — neither option was “set” for her, just like how a rotom’s forms are not set (unlike eevee or milcry; while they also have many different variations, all of them are final and cannot be undone).

My Legends Arceus fic featuring my Legends OC has me in a straggle hold in the worst way! So instead I’m just gonna throw tidbits about what happens on here and see what happens.
Koume is a Pokémon breeder from Goldenrod City, Johto, but now lives in Motostoke, Galar and works at the Pokémon Nursery in the Wild Area.
Was raised by her Aunt Sagi and Uncle Tarou alongside her younger twin cousins Takumi and Takuma
Would visit the shrine dedicated to Celebi in Ilex Forest often when she lived in Johto, now has a miniature shrine in her home in Galar to continue honoring the Pokémon.
Cyndaquil was the starter she chose and nicknamed Ignacio.
Took multiple dance, music, and battling lessons from the geishas in Ecruteak City Dance Hall when she was a child before beginning her journey
Took part in both the Silver League and the Indigo League and received all 16 badges and took on the Elite Four, but never challenged the Champion
Koume only carries three Pokémon as an adult. Those Pokémon are also her only three shinies; Angel (Togekiss), Houdini (Alakazam), and Thor (Raichu)
Fast forward. When Koume finds herself in Hisui she has even worse amnesia than Ingo since she can’t even remember her own name, later when the Diamond Clan takes her in, Sabi gives her the name Rakka and becomes extremely fond of her.
Rakka/Koume spends most of her time in the Crimson Mirelands with her three partners: Button (Alpha Teddiursa), Zipper (Basculin), and Velcro (Sliggoo)
Good friends with Warden Ingo and began picking up his train lexicon to the dismay of everyone, but mostly Warden Melli
Ingo has shared what little memory he has of Before Hisui, unfortunately Rakka/Koume's memories are completely withheld from her until encountering Akari/Dawn for the first time which begins triggering her memories returning slowly
Is constantly told to stop wasting time by fellow Diamond Clan members, she always tells them that "time well spent is not time wasted."
Cried for an unknown reason upon meeting Akari/Dawn's Typhlosion after it evolved from Quilava after the quelling of Lady Lilligent. The Typhlosion seems to sense why she hurts when looking at him and is extremely affectionate to Rakka/Koume whenever Akari/Dawn visits her from then on
Rakka/Koume attempted to quell Lord Electrode herself before Akari ever reached Moonview Arena to save the girl the trouble of yet another frenzied Noble.
She fails to quell the Noble and takes 3 electro balls to the back before Button (an Alpha Ursaluna at this point) drags Rakka/Koume to safety. She later wakes up with an ugly new scar covering her back (luckily not dead or permanently paralyzed) and Akari/Dawn having done what she had failed to do by quelling Lord Electrode's frenzy.
Fast forwarding to post-post-game territory. Koume, Ingo, and Dawn find a tunnel thanks to Celebi that leads them all in. Halfway through the tunnel old railroad tracks are found leading out to the other side, once out of the tunnel all three find themselves back in modern day Sinnoh.
Now for the fun part that I'm too lazy to wait for right now. So a paradox is created when Celebi finally finds Koume and returns her, Ingo, and Dawn back to modern day. Since the things the three did (and will do) in their time in Hisui was inpactful and irrefutablely necessary for the timeline to continue on like it was meant to, Celebi could not simply pluck them from the past and return them to the present without consequence, so they split the timeline creating a paradox of sorts.
At some point the three stumble upon their own graves at various locations during their journey to gain the remained of their memories and hopefully find someone that can help them reconnect with their old lives. Koume's withered headstone is located in what is now Solaceon Town. Ingo's final resting place is in Celestic Town. Snowpoint City is where Dawn's honored grave lies.
Each burial place is inhabited by Hisuian Pokemon, Koume - Teddiursa, Ursaring, and one lone Ursaluna, Ingo - Hisuian Sneasel and a few Sneasler, and Dawn - Hisuian Zorua and a single Zoruark
The Unfinished Train Tunnel that brought the three back to modern day is a bridge between space and time and unlike the distortions, is stable and permanent. Koume, Ingo, and Dawn are the only ones capable of accessing this bridge however. (The Bone-Eater's Well from Inuyasha for example)
Now I want to give Koume an almost lover in modern time that she only vaguely remembers once her memories start returning. I'm just unsure as to who I want it to be, I just know I don't want it to be Ingo since I already have a plan for their friendship in Hisui and the friendship they later remember from before Hisui. I know this whole thing is just word vomit but I had to get it out so I could try and write it down in a way that is more story and less random thought nuggets. I'm just so jealous of everyone who can churn out all these compelling multi chapter fics of their own OCs in Hisui

Now onto the actual "story" beats:
(Lucas and Dawn = Akari au)
So Arceus drags Dawn and Lucas gets caught with the portal to the other dimension. Or wherever Arceus stays.
As I said before Dawn and Lucas's bodies (and soul) mashes to make Akari
So Akari becomes aware and is confused. Dawn and Lucas are aware but not awake if that makes sense.
Arceus knows they made a mistake but still went along with it.
They comforted Akari then sent them to Hisui
That means Akari wakes up on the beach in Hisui only knowing they met God.
Remember that Dawn and Lucas's memories will appear later on.
So yeah they wake up the starters and Laverton looking at them.
The quick chat happens and then the starters run off and he goes to chase them.
Akari tries to stand up but they fall down.
[Dawn and Lucas also woke up soon after Akari but they didn't immediately panic. They soon did though. Lucas more so than Dawn.]
Yeah Akari as a whole is unsteady so they are stuck on the ground
Don't worry, Laverton turns around and goes to help them.
The starters run back to them and allows themselves to be caught
Laverton goes up and helps Akari up and helps them to Jubilife village. Well the Arceus phone needs to be picked up so Akari pointed it out and asked him to pick it up.
They just told them there is something shining up there so he gently puts them down to grab it.
He picks it up and gives it to Akari. Then they move to the Jubilfe village to take them to the medical area
Laverton tells Pesselle what is up and that Akari needs help as "she" can't walk.
Laverton then goes to talk with Cyllene about allowing Akari to stay.
Also just so it is clear no one knows their name or gender yet.
(Pausing 4/27/2022) (Starting: 4/28/2022)
Arceus made it so Akari can understand but not speak the language.
As I said Laverton went to talk with Cyllene and begged her to allow Akari to stay
She said yes only until Akari is healthy and can see if Akari can join a Corp
Talking of health Akari is asked what is wrong and just shrugs at Pessoa and then just points at their legs
So yeah Akari is stuck communicating with their hands until they get the point across
Also Dawn and Lucas hang out and chat with Akari when no one is around
Also God is being a jerk and made it so Dawn and Lucas and speak and understand the language
They are teaching Akari and so it's Pess.
Akari is stuck in the medical wing for 3 weeks
They meet a lot of people in that time
Yeah that includes Commander Kamado but Cyllene just said that Akari is a new recruit.
So week one was just getting used to standing
Week two was walking
Week three annoyed Akari as they would like to be free but Pess wants to make sure they are fine.
Once they are free they get to catch 3 pokemon to get into the Survey Corps.
They make it and ask to help around the Medical Corps too. Just to be safe (and they like it)
Other thing IDK what starter to give Akari
Also they got a grasp of the language quick and explained they are not a girl or a boy
Everyone is accepting (in a range) as this is my au
