Thoughts on your experience at the Inspire Arena for the Metamorph concert?

Hmm. tldr version is, I'm not a fan of the venue especially in the current concert climate.

You can fully expect that they will block out some of the best seats in the arena for the livestreaming rig - you can see the empty void in front of the stage in the pics posted by the official shinee acc. This was even more depressing in person. Honestly, a huge issue with Taemin's latest concert in general was the prioritisation of Beyond Live over the in-person attendees, i.e. ridiculously long gaps between each song (like up to a minute at times!) and just performance things that looked cool on video but were really meh irl. Personally, I think the decision to stream every single day was the worst they could have made (and don't get me started on the prices they were asking for it, and will ask again), there's always been a difference in the way they behave on a stream vs just during a non-livestreamed show and now they all have scripted ments that don't even result in good subs for the shawols watching at home.

In terms of getting to the arena, it's pretty much at the end of the world comparing to the Olympic Gymnastics Arena - which is relatively close to the city center, well connected via multiple transportation routes, lots of restaurants/cafes around and the grounds are honestly huge. Inspire Arena is secluded and I know a lot there was a lot of issues with getting there for people (as it's connected to the Incheon Airport via shuttle, I was attending with a global package ticket and it took approx 2h for us to get there on the coach SM provided). Then it's a very long corridor and a tiny waiting space with three billboards you can take pics at, and after the show they kick you out on the other side of the building straight into coaches so there isn't a lot of opportunity to take the last few pics/just have that moment of the fizzling out concert hype. Kshawols were organising buses that'd take them from the city center to the venue in groups because it was both freezing and a nightmare to get to. Like idk, I do love the pre-concert mingling and exchanging little gifts like photocards or fans, this was almost impossible during metamorph. In comparison, one of my fondest memories of SWC6 in the summer is shawols braiding each other's hair before the concert, not something that's easy for me to imagine happening at the Inspire Arena tbh. Though I might be proved wrong in May.

Finally, while Yes24 isn't wonderful it still let international fans buy normal tickets for the concerts, Inspire Arena is linked to Melon ❤️Payments are a nightmare, there is no paypall for example (and Korea loves to reject foreign cards even if they say they accept them). The site itself is wonky as hell and will throw you out of the queue for nothing. Metamorph is the only time I had to buy global package for a shinee concert because it was genuinely impossible to get it via normal ways. And sincerely, global package isn't worth its price these days (the little lego keyring was cool but not that cool).

Ah also, this is my very personal, petty thing but I didn't love the acoustics there, we had a pretty good seats and too many songs sounded primarily like noise. I can't tell you if that's a venue thing or just a setup thing in this case, unfortunately. Metamorph was probably my worst shinee concert experience and I've been to a good few. Honestly I dislike the space so much I might just skip on the May concerts because of it, I don't have that much motivation for going left in me even with the promise of Jinki. Eh.

time for some blog lore..... THIS IS GONNA BE KINDA LONG AND RAMBLY SO BE WARNED-

Before this account was made, I actually had a different tumblr account for personal use (I never log into it anymore though lol) instead of writing. I was in the LMK fandom at the time, so I was reading x reader fics EVERYWHERE I could, from wattpad to tumblr to ao3.

And wouldn't you know it, when I was scrolling through the tags on tumblr I saw someone promoting their newly written fic they made on ao3!! I read it, loved the premise, and left a kudos and a comment (I think I left a comment? I'm not sure, I was a lurker as well when it came to reading HSDHSD).

Not too long after, I was scrolling through their blog and saw a post of them asking for any possible writing friends to interact. I thought 'hey!! i can write!!' and promptly sent them a dm. We chatted over our brainrot of the stinky monkeys and we grew to be pretty close writing buddies!! I even got to come up with a ship name for a pairing in the fic (the pairing was Macaque and Y/n, and Y/n in the fic was a baker, so I proposed the ship name 'Mooncake'. Still super proud of that ngl!! I'm pretty sure I made one for Wukong and Y/n too, but I forgot what it was </33 Mooncake was just so iconic to me).

We bounced off ideas from each other, and I sent them posts about Wukong (they were a Wukong Apologist and honestly, slay), and one of them actually managed to influence their characterization for him in a later chapter!! I was even writing my own LMK x reader fic at the time, and while I gave up on it after a while, they were the first person to ever read the first few paragraphs and gave me their thoughts.

Eventually, I had an urge to make a whole blog dedicated to x reader writings because I was inspired by them to make one, and when I told them they told me to go for it!!

Here's where the important bit comes in: This person's blog was themed around Sun Wukong. They're a Monkey King lover, they fucking love that stupid smelly monkey man!! So I told them "hey wouldnt it be funny if my blog was Macaque themed so we could match?" and they went "DUDE"

And boom!! That's the reason why my blog is Macaque themed!! I went through a LOT of custom tumblr themes (you know where you open someones blog and instead of being the regular tumblr blog layout its a totally new one that they customized themselves? Yeah that was me), meanwhile my friend just stuck to a simple 'Wukong pfp + header and orange background'. I think that matched our character themes really well HAHSAHSAH

Unfortunately, I'm sure that my friend is not working/active anymore. Their last post on tumblr was them apologizing for the lack of updates because of art school, and that was it. I don't know how long it's been since I checked up on the fic, but when I did, I found that their ao3 account was orphaned. So it's probably safe to assume that theyre not coming back to their tumblr acc either.

But still... I kept my Macaque theme. Even when my LMK interest started to fade and other media took over my brain, I refused to change it. Idk why, sentimentality I guess? It just felt wrong.

I have no idea where they are now, honestly. I just hope theyre doing okay. They were a super cool person, and I loved their fic and I loved talking to them and I loved being their friend!! Even if they probably wont see this post, I just want them to know how much of an impact they had on me. It was because of them I made this account, and got into writing requests and fics. And even if that didn't work out, they got me back to writing in general! They were an awesome person and they deserve everything good in life!!

Augugh this got sentimental... My bad!! Ngl, I've been secretly waiting for someone to ask me why my blog was Macaque themed, but the chance of that happening was really slim so I held the Blog Lore™ in. BUT NOW I CAN FINALLY SAY WHAT IVE BEEN HOLDING IN FOR YEARS RAHHH

actually the loneliest ive ever felt. i dont have a best friend. the two friends that i do have both have boyfriends n are preoccupied with them. im always in my room. im always in my four walls. i dont have a life outside of here. and i hate it so much.

i dont have someone i can spontaneously visit whenever i want anymore. i dont have a safe person that will always make time for me. if im sad, i dont have someone to go to. and it fuckiing sucks.

what sucks even more is when i sleep until 5 pm and check my phone to zero notifications. ts makes me go right the fuck back to sleep

i made an editing acc on tt. its cool its got like 70 smth followers so far. i really fucking hope i can make friends on there. but like. everyone in the editing community is like. 15 or 16. it just sux i used to edit at those ages too but now here i am at 18 (almost 19!) crawling back to the editing community to maybe find even a small glimpse of the happiness it gave me when i was younger. but nothing beat the feeling of dreaming of an edit in ur head all day.... waiting till school got out... running (literally) home to whip ts up on video star before i forgot it and then uploaded it and shared it amongst my little editing friends. and then i'd stay up late until 2 am or so watching and saving other edits i thought were cool. even in quarantine, i found joy in editing. november 2020 was actually the worst year of my life but also the best i miss it so much i miss the plethora of friends i used to have fuck. i miss playing identity v otp all night long with ray, i miss playing genshin in vc and doing stupid shit and farming for artifacts for hours on end with jazzy and tason and ray and gabby. my poor ipad wld overheat and my fingerprints would burn from dragging them across the hot screen but i didnt care . it was fun.

edit im not done i have more things i want to reminisce about .

ive been rewatching rick and morty and keeping up with the new seasons in the same sense that i watched it in middle school and now im crawling back to see if it brings me the same joy. and it does !. for the most part. but since justin got fired rip there's new voice actors. and it's fine honestly i dont care that much im still gna watch it but i hate how everythings changing. 13 year old me cldnt begin to fathom rick and morty losing (one of its) most renowned creator(s). like fuck. he voiced RICK AND MORTY. BOTH. like holy fuck. but its fine i guess the writings still kinda the same and the show is funny and makes me happy. i wish i had someone i cld take with me everywhere like my own little morty . i need friends.

i also miss the essence of boxed fettuchine(???) alfredo while watching r/m or camp camp at gammys house. ts was fire

i miss the roblox theme park tycoon and the chocolate cake we made that day and ate. it was so good.

i miss the lego game my cousin and i wld play. we didnt even do anything my mind just couldnt believe an open map game i haad so much fun just walking around and looking and doing absolutely nothing. and eating reheated pizzahut. and mcdonalds cookies. and funfetti boxed cake.

i miss when i had my phone taken when mom and i stayed at gammys when parents almst got divorced and i used her old iphone 5 she forgot she gave me and i had my little fandom acc on insta with my little mooties and friends and the warmth of gammys house in november fuck i miss it all i miss growing up so much i hate being an adult. i cant fucking have fun sober i dont have friends im alone nearly every single day i dont have friends in college i dont ta\lk to anyone i fucking just show up and leave without removing my earbuds.

and i know its my fsult. i know im the reason why i dont have friends. im the only reason why im like this. i only do it to myself.
