ever start writing something and then drop it because you don't know how to write it, and also don't really know where you're going with it?
Anyway here's like four or five paragraphs of Neku and Beat hanging out and talking about writing rap lyrics
The sun beat down on the bustling city, a city full of art, full of culture, full of people. The unexpected heat wave sent a ripple through the crowds, redirecting destinations, changing plans, as people crowded towards shade, towards the inside of buildings, cafes and restaurants that offered cold drinks, shops that offered air conditioning, awnings and underpasses that offered shade. And as the living inhabitants of the Shibuya ward sought refuge from the sun, the less-than-alive followed suit in their own realm, the âUndergroundâ plane of existence that- while Neku wasnât completely sure how or why- experienced the same weather as its âRealgroundâ counterpart, heat waves included.
At any rate, physics, metaphysics, thermodynamics, or meta-thermodynamics be damned, the two partners found themselves avoiding the sun by squatting in the shady alleyway of A-East. Being undead (or just regular dead? He wasnât very sure) thankfully meant no need for hydration, but that didnât necessarily translate to âno wantâ. Neku took another sip of the soda in his hands, still somewhat shocked that he never thought to try the vending machines while in the UG. He had assumed that the only places he could purchase things were storefronts with Reaper decals, but it wasnât like a vending machine cares if it can see you or not. As long as it gets the money, itâll give you what you want.Â
It was Beatâs idea, really- he saw a vending machine, stuck a few hundred yen in, and got a sports drink. He hadnât even considered the fact that he was dead, he just walked right up and did it. That was the thing about Beat- he was impulsive, and rarely thought before he did anything, assuming he had the mental capacity to do so. Neku could try and talk some sense into him, but it was hard to argue with the kind of results Beat got by just...doing what he does. Well. Most of the time, anyway.
âShibuya...blew ya...nah, noâŚâ Beat muttered under his breath, tapping intently on his phone. Neku raised an eyebrow in his direction, completely unnoticed. âShot through ya...yeah, okay, hmâŚâ
âBeat?â Neku finally asked.
âWhuh-huh?â Beat snapped to attention, almost startled.
Neku rolled his eyes. âYouâve been talking to yourself all afternoon. After Joshua, the last thing I need is for my partner to go insane on me.â
âNah, yo, you got it all wrong.â Beat moved his legs from a squat to a crisscross on the ground, turning to face Neku rather than the street. âIâm thinkinâ up some rhymes.â
âWhat?â
âAw, câmon, Phones,â Beat sighed. âRhymes, lyrics, somethinâ I can put to a rhythm. How you gonna wear those things on ya head all day and still not know what Iâm talkinâ bout?â
Neku glared in response.
âWell, anyway,â he continued, completely undeterred, âI got struck with a bit of inspiration a while back, and I got some music stuff stewinâ now.â
Awfully big word for Beat, Neku thought. âWhat kind of stuff?â
âAw, it ainât much.â Beat looked up and scratched his head through his beanie. âWhen I get real stressed I like to put it into somethinâ more creative. Punchinâs cool, but sometimes you gotta use ya brain, right?â

carmen sandiego as the jatp soundtrack
actually yes i am going to combine my two favorite tv shows and you canât stop me <33
now or never
âclocks move forward // but we don't get older, noâ
âkeep dreaming like weâre living forever // but live it like itâs now or neverâ
âand even if we hit the ground, weâll keep flyingâ
this song just ??? *screams* carmen right after she escaped vile... her being so excited to explore the world and not caring about falling down and her enthusiasm to stop vile without really knowing what theyâre like yet... yeahÂ
wake up
âget out, get out, relight that sparkâ
âits not what you lost, its what youâll gainâ
âbetter wake those demons, look them in the eyeâ
this song has such jules vibes (jules is definitely julie in this hypothetical au... even besides the names its just so perfect), and besides the fact that juliaâs mom is also dead (see necklace theory) jules finding this song and singing it would be so amazing i cannot handle thisÂ
this band is back
âwe gotta get ready, cause its been yearsâÂ
âcan you hear meâ âLOUD AND CLEARâ
team red singing this band is back is something that can actually be so personal...Â
bright
âlife is a risk, but i will take itâ
âwe will fight to shine together, bright foreverâ
âtogether, i think that we can make itâÂ
do i. do i really have to say how much julethief this is. the way they shine and work well together, the way everything they do is the epitome of a risk but they do it anyways, the way together they can stop vile. yeah iâll stop nowÂ
flying solo
âmy life, my life, would be real low, zero, flying soloâ
âif somebody hurts you, im going to get hurt tooâ
yes i know this song is julie singing to flynn. in this au its jules singing to carmen (or vice versa idk) the amount of brainrot this au can hold... nobody mention stockholm but yeah it definitely fits and just. scream.
i got the music
âweight off my shoulders, dancing insteadâ
âcan't stop the music // back inside my soulâÂ
i donât even have coherent reasoning for this one i just think we should get to see jules sing this song and have player rap flynnâs parts. as a treat <3
the other side of hollywood
âwe could go make history or you could rest in peaceâ
âeverything has got a price but happiness is freeâ
âthe rain donât blind the rising souls // they got too much to seeâ
we all agree that hgc is basically vile but more dramatic and less green, right? also ive been trying to think of which of the faculty would be caleb in this au... iâm guessing countess cleo is the only one who could really pull it off well? but yeah... tr getting stuck at the hgc would be so so good and painrot
finally free
âhearts on fire // weâre no liars // so we say what we wanna sayâ
âi wanna fly // come alive // watch me flyâ
âi got a spark in meâÂ
âbeen so long, and now weâre finally freeâÂ
ânow till eternityâ
this is the ultimate julethief song actually i will not shut up about it (hence the excess of quotes). just !! the way its abt them not hiding anymore, ânow till eternityâ with âtranscends space and timeâ ... yeah sounds like canon to me đ thereâs so so so much quality content in this song i love it so much and just. this with julethief ???? my heart canât handle this kind of excitement
perfect harmony
âbittersweet love story about a girlâ
âtwo worlds collide when iâm with youâÂ
âwe come to life when weâre in perfect harmonyâ
yes i know this was cs as jatp songs apparently somewhere along the line it dissolved into julethief but honestly are any of us surprised ??? its just so so perfect the way the lyrics describe them is just LGSHDAFLS âtwo worlds collideâ (acme vs julesâs personal wants/desires) âin perfect harmonyâ *cough cought* did anyone mention the duane interview? no  âthey work in harmony even when theyâre not in the same scenesâ yeah practically the same thing !! (edit bc carmen pointed this out and i am screaming: perfect harmony is basically the tsonts dance scene and i cannot get over this)Â
edge of great
ârunning from the past, tripping on the nowâÂ
âwhat is lost can be found, its obviousâ
âi believe that weâre just one dream // away from who weâre meant to beâÂ
âweâre standing on the edge of greatâÂ
EDGE OF GREAT MY BELOVED !!! this song is SO iconic and you know whats even more iconic ??? the way it works so perfectly with carmen sandiego... carmen and jules post canon ?? đđđ. i am looking at the lost/found line in particular for that but all of it works so so well (also side note but i would die if we got the classic juke nose scrunches with julethief actually)
unsaid emily
âi should have turned around // but i had too much prideâÂ
âand write in every empty space the words âi love youâ in replaceâ
âthe words i most regret are the ones i never meant to leave // unsaid emilyâ
to be honest this is the song that stumped me the most? it would take a bit of canon reconfiguring- either weâre making brunt more sympathetic (ew) or carmen grew up with carlotta and then had a falling out ??? i think that would make more sense, especially with carmen trying so hard to find her again after 25 years (the timeline matches closer than expected actually đ ) this song is peak painrot so have fun with this besties <33
you got nothing to lose
âainât nothing quite like living on the edgeâÂ
âiâm chasing down a thrill, looking fit to killâÂ
âyou got nothing to lose, boysâ
this scene would be so terrifying actually like, we already got the dark!carmen trauma so watching caleb have the ability to manipulate her would just be ABSOLUTE painrot *distant screaming* also the way the offer would be so tempting to team red ?? just bc carmens whole life is living on the edge, chasing down thrills, and being unable to settle down but she stays for jules i. yeah im soft what about itÂ
stand tall
âand itâs one, two, three, four times // iâll try for one more nightâÂ
âwhatever happens // even if iâm the last standing // imma stand tallâÂ
âkeep holding on, never look backâÂ
âi keep going on when itâs all falling apart // yeah i know it with all my heartâ
thinking thoughts... julethief post canon with this song.... yeah i would be decimated on impact just the way jules thought carmen left but CARMEN COMES BACK.... canon ? i dont know her <33
in conclusion julethief/cs jatp au supremaki besties âĽď¸
#carmen sandiego#you dont need to know anything abt jatp to actually read this KLSDFGDHKLFSAJ#it definitely enhances the experience though#jatp#julie and the phantoms#carulia#julethief#carmen x julia#did i just spend almost two hous on a post with a target audience of five (me included)? yes#yes i did#also i know i left out the dirty candi songs i love them so much i feel so bad but#a) i have no idea how they fit into this au yet#b) i simply do not have the energy anymore đ#nova rambles

Quick first thoughts on the first ep of the Hypmic Anime. Spoilers beware (and im writing this as I watch so :p)
Otomeâs speech is.... questionable from a persuasive point of view. Manga did a great job of introducing her (which you can read here) but they really cut out the more terrifying parts of her speech and how she uses force to show people that she's not to be messed with
Its cool seeing everyone in their respective environments though. thats cool. Though they could have added Sasara and Kuuko (shhh i know why they didnât let me dream)
I love how poppy the typography is. Its amazing how the visuals just leap out at you. The OP does a great job of this. The first few seconds before the title really gives me Persona 4 OG OP vibes with the influx of information given. The rest is a clear concise and streamlined way that still gives character. Animation is sparse but still carries across a general idea of each character and shows off each character object. Rendering is really nice and pays a bit of homage to the posing artwork thats done for the MVs. They also do their division hand signals and thats cute
Love how the OP has blatant HifuDoppo and DRB matchup foreshadowing
so far I really like what theyre going for. BB is about brotherly familial bonds and they show the goods and the bads. Jiro and Saburo bickering right out the gate really cements the fact that they get along like cats and dogs but you can still see that they love each other, working together when the situation calls for it
Now the 3d models. Theyre... not great but usable if you donât look too hard. They serve their purpose and donât actively detract from the viewing experience.
Visual typography in the rap itself are fun and poppy but they dont.... speak to me? like theyre there yes and I appreciate them but the only ones that got me excited were from Ichiroâs rap
I take my words back the group portion was kickass and I apologize
I love how they interpret the Hypnosis Speakers though. Esp. Saburoâs organs. That was super creative and I love it! If there was one thing that I felt was missing from the franchise was a deeper exploration of the speakers but the anime puts a new and fresh spin on it! Love it, especially with their attack patterns!
If the production team ever feels inclined to, Id love to see those info sheets on Otomeâs desk released. There seems to be very interesting info and stats written out about each member (like capabilities, personal status etc.) They all seem unique too so I really really really hope they release images of those sheets
OOOOOOOOKAY MTC. I have such a big biased for them so Im very torn to see what unfolds
Rio striking out on his own is interesting. Out of everyone in MTC hes the biggest team player yet here he trusts his teammates to go ahead. This either displays Rioâs willingness to trust his teammates or it becomes very OOC if the anime wants to set him up as a lone wolf like character
I love how they specify its a drug deal. It means that Jyuto surely will show up and it also shows that Samatoki knows Jyutoâs motives and willingly gives black market info that he knows aligns with Jyutoâs goal. Thats A+ detail writing there and a great establishing characteristic for both of them
OOohhhhhhhhhhhhh man Asunama-sanâs voice acting is god tier his work as Samatoki is phenomenal. He pulls of Samatokiâs threatening voice so well with those almost calm words before his voice becomes loud and confrontational. Those rolling syllables in contrast to Komada-sanâs almost lyrical and airy speech and Kamio-sanâs strict and enunciated words is such a delight to hear. It just speaks to how amazing and great these Seiyuuâs are in order to pull of such amazing work
Im so biased but MTC has such a better rap than BB im so sorry. Just by watching Samatokiâs part, the imagery is amazing. Even the arrival of his Hypnosis Speaker was awesome and sent a shiver down my spine. using the lyrics to form blades and blood was such a great thing to do. Theres so much more variety that just him standing there and shots of his hypnosis speaker. The old fashioned vignette shots, the four panel spread, the nods to old Kurosawa era films are great and I love these small details. Even the typography looks better.
Again, the interpretations with the speakers is fresh and new. Its great and I love the different imagery and attack patterns. Each one is so unique but carries across each different style of rap.
The 3d modles arenât any better tho lol
(Hi this is Astro who is reading over their assessment again and making a note. Yeah Iâm a bit harsh on BBâs rap. Iâm not going to change it since I still stand by it and this post is supposed to be a documentation of my first impressions. I think one of the reasons why Iâm so harsh on BB is because of their dynamic as a trio of brothers. They Have to have a more uniform approach than the other divisions. Which in of itself isnât a terrible thing, it just doesnât catch my eye as much as MTC did. Thats all! I definitely donât hate BB, theyâre maybe my 3rd favorite division out of the current lineup [not including TDD era teams like Kujaku Posse, MCD, and Naughty Busters] its just that their rap was pretty meh)
Samatoki crouching like a real gangstar and the cigarette kiss killed me
sadjkhfjkasdghsadjkcsdjhsdfsjhf im dying i love these trio of dumbasses so uch oh y fod someone save me aaaaaaaa (Astro note here! yeah i died when the jyuto and samatokiâs stomach growled im weak please. Samatokiâs face is just so precious and funny I might set it as a profile pic somewhere)
But also my initial assessment of Rio possibly being characterized as a lone wolf is very much jossed and im very thankful for that. It seems that Rio was simply trusting his teammates to carry out their part of the plan while he carried out his own. I like that, it really shows how much of a team these three are and that they genuinely trust each other. Heâs also comfortable enough around them to invite them to dinners after work casually and not just for special occasions.
I really love MTC guys
Oooh! we get Ramuda on his design process which is really cute. the inside of his studio is super cute and retro and i love it. the poppy old music you would hear in a cafe or 90â˛s resturaunt is also really cute (astro note: yeah i know that in ARB you see the interior of Ramudaâs office but its kinda different seeing it animated)
the translation i have has gentaro speaking in early modern english (Shakespearian english for those who arenât english nerds like me) but from what I can hear, he doesnât speak in a particularly old fashioned way? Its more formal than old? and hes speaking without any of his character persona lying thing that he likes to do (as he refers to himself as âShouseiâ throughout the segment where hes in Ramudaâs office which is kind of his default pronoun of choice). so its kinda odd for the translation to go in that direction but im not complaining
Gendice banter is gold but it feels... flat? a little? it doesnât have the same impact as in the drama cds or in the manga? i feel? Also Ramuda using gratuitous english is??? idk how to feel about that
kjshf thats against the rules Ramuda omgggg,,,,,,,, (astro note again: while watching i was under the assumption that using your hypmic for monetary gain such a as buskering [which is what FP is doing] is against the rules. May not be the case but whatever)
FPâs rap might be my favorite in terms of tune and lyrics though. Itâs a nice laid back bop and really gives of chill vibes. the integration of 3d and 2d is really nice and i love how they play off each other in the rap. The wordplay is so fun with little nods here and there and the beat is poppy too so it really energizes me.
Ramudaâs rap concerns me slightly since he makes very subtle and small nods towards his past (being created in a laboratory, warfare, and his overall very unpleasant life experiences) but spins it into something cutesy. It could be a coping mechanism, it could be me overthinking it. But it does make me worry a bit. Gentaro and Diceâs rap really play off each other with Gentaro sticking to stories and Dice taking up the baton by carrying on that same imagery but putting his own spin on it.
the self awareness of how scattered they are as a team is interesting though. It doesnât seem like something youâd speak about in a rap? but i guess since its not really a do or die situation they can afford to be looser on things like this.
Right off the bat, i donât like how they handled Hifumi and Doppo in relation to Hifumiâs fear of women. Slug made a post once talking about this and I echo many of his sentiments. Hypmic has never been very tactful about tackling this particular issue and while I didnât have high hopes that the anime would be any better it hurts to see Doppo take away the one thing that allows Hifumi to function within society.
Doppoâs breakdown mirrors a lot of my own mental state when I spiral though its shown a lot quicker than what happens to me oof. that hits close to home. though Jakuraiâs advice is. Questionable. Its not the best advice to give to someone but we have no idea what kind of doctor Jakurai is so ill let it slide
Jakuraiâs pose looks like hes going to do a mahou shoujou transformation lmao
I donât have many thoughts about the rap though again. How they visualize the rap is interesting. the different imagery is quite interesting for each of them and the typography is nice a distinct but im still on the fence about the visuals here
The sound is in the same boat. The sound effects either drown out the rap or are too quet but some parts are nice at least. When they talk about Tokyoâs beating heart, the heartbeat sound is a but distracting especially since its only played once. But the imagery is at least nice
I wonder if for the eds theyâre going to take a similar approach to what Enstars did and have a four different endings, one for each division. I love the blend of styles here and it really accentuates that although theyâre different they mesh well together.
Ramudaâs silhouette though is hilarious. Love it.
:p and thats it. Uh not bad for a first episode. Established all 12 characters really nicely and their dynamics. I had some problems with it but then again nothing is perfect. I look forward to what they show us next week

So @sleaterkenny tagged me in this top albums of 2019. Idk if they knew what they were getting themselves into with giving this to a music major who canât shut up but I love this. The thing is I donât really listen to new music so like Iâm just going to talk about what Iâve been listening to and try to throw in currentish stuff. Also itâs not in any particular order. Also if you like my opinions and music choice listen to my radio show at wmxm.org every Tuesday from 5-7.
Wild flag by willd flag
- this is one of those âsuper groupâ with Mary Timothy from helium and Janet Weiss and Carrie brownstein from sleater Kinney. They only ever put out this one album but like I still really want more from them. Currently Iâve been loving future crimes. It has such a longing to it at the same time itâs incredibly strong. Itâs like raw unhinged Carrie and I love it. Romance is also really fun. I like how his album tackles these big things then has songs like romance and boom that are just like fun and flirty.
Prom queen by beach bunny
- so itâs a local Chicago band and Iâm becoming obsessed. Itâs a female fronted band and I really think they are about to like break out. They have the thing some riot grrrl bands do which is cutesy but still kick ass. The titular song prom queen is probably my favorite. It talks about beauty standards but itâs still a bop. It also like alludes to an eating disorder so trigger warning but for me personally it reminds me that Iâm not totally alone yf. Also that makes the song sound super depressing but itâs a break up bop I promise.
Le Tigre by le Tigre
- so god bless Kathleen. Kathleen is also from bikini kill and sheâs like such an icon. Every song goes hard. Hot topic is super great itâs just like funky background with Kathleen belting important women over it. My favorite is deceptacon. Itâs just fun and bratty. They use their instruments in such a interesting way. Itâs so clear that everyone is just having fun. Every song goes so hard.Potty mouth by bratmobile- okay so like iconic itâs part of the birth of riot grrrl I love it. Okay so their cover of cherry bomb. Like I think I went off about this already but I love how girlie it is yet it still commands so much attention itâs kick ass. They take that song that was used to exploit the sexuality of a underage girl and it fucks with the patriarchy. All the songs are so fun. They call out relationships call out men and demand to be heard about everything they want to talk about. I love the way each song feels like they are directly bitching at you
Emerald valley
- this is by filthy friends which is one of those âsuper groupsâ. It has corin tucker if sleater Kinney and peter buck from REM. Itâs all about climate change and you can tell that everyone is passionate about what they are talking about. Corin Tucker as always tears apart the room with her vocals itâs like a battle cry. Also if you get the vinyl itâs green and Iâm a bitch for colored vinyl. Bonus you should listen to despirta which is by them and itâs a fuck Trump ballad.
So this is kinda a cop out but Iâm living my best life..
Diomands by Elton john
- so itâs all re-released Elton music but itâs has a super good mix of his stuff. Admitally after watching rocket man I got back into Elton john and itâs like a rennasance. Bennie and the jets is a banger and tiny dancer always pulls at my heart strings. Itâs hard to pick an Elton song to be my favorite but Iâve been listening to goodbye yellow brick road a lot and Iâm preforming it at my piano recital coming up so Iâll say itâs my favorite
So this definetly isnât in anyway new but Iâve been loving the age of backwards by the spells
- so this came out in 1999 around right after sleater Kinneys the hot rock. Its a duo with Mary Timothy of helium and Carrie brownstein (of sleater Kinney). Itâs a short experimental ep and I love it. So I had to listen to it a couple of times before I could say if it was good or not but I decided i liked it. Carrie sings a lot and I love her voice and the chemistry between Carrie and Maryâs guitars is insane. Itâs a lot of entangled riffs and weird affects. My favorite song off of it is canât explain which is a cover they did of that song by the kinks.
The Woods by sleater kinney
- I know Im suppose to talk about the center wont hold but like truthfully i cant write a whole essay right now and i dont want to get too conversational. what ill say is if you dont like the album youre wrong and dont ever mention janet weiss to me again because im conflicted. Anyway...Carrie brownstien is the best guitarist of our genoration and im being 100% serious when i say this if you dont agree with me youre sexist and homophobic. The woods i feel like is where i can point to and be like are you shitting me listen to these solos. I feel like carrie had always had killer solos but something about this album (and going forward but especially this album) makes it feel even more powerful. Carries guitar is like a fucking weapon and you can feel it cutting you open. Of course corins vocals fill the entire room and attacks anything in itâs path. The fox i think showcases the power of her voice better then any of their discography. As always sleater kinney tackles so many issues and this album goes for everything. The song that really stands out though is jumpers. I remember listening to it the first few times and just being like this shreds but once i really listened to the lyrics i fell apart. I think part if it has to do with the fact i can relate to it but i also feel like its one of the only songs that talks about suicide that doesnât romanticize it and also doesnât pity it. Jumpers is like this unstoppable force of nature that is apologetically what it is and is the first song that really captures the epidemic truthfully. I know i havent given a favorite for each album but ill say modern girl is my favorite. Itâs really hard to decide and tbh i dont know if its my favorite but i love how antagonizing it is and i guess i liked it enough to get it tattooed on my body.
This is kinda my rap portion of the post
Cherry bomb by Tyler the creator
- so this isnât one of his most acclaimed albums but I love it. It has the perfect mix between the pure and soft and the fuck shit up angry. I think my favorite is 2seater. The entire thing is so sweet and I love the part where everything changes and he starts singing âI love it when your hair blowsâ part. I also really like perfect/Fucking young but whenever I listen to it Iâm like am I a bad person for liking this? Anyway the entire thing goes hard but is still soft.
American boyfriend by Kevin abstract
- this album is like a hard look at what itâs like to be a black gay man in America. Miserble America completely breaks your heart while at the same time making troy nostalgic for a life that isnât yours. The whole album addresses really important topic and is revolutionary because itâs an out black man in rap which is huge.
if you read this whole thing thats fucking wild. sorry i canât fucking spell but this is how i feel about things. i hella loved writing this @crvidae i guess im tagging you but im pretty sure youâll never end up doing it...

i'm not trying to clown you or anything, but i'm just genuinely curious as to why you bias sunwoo now? like what do you love about him and all? if i'm not mistaken, you used to be hyunjoon-biased correct?
hello! god bless this ask :â) i was waiting for someone to allow me to be absolutely gr0ss and gushy about my sunshine : (
and yes! you are correct :â) i used to be very hyunjoon biased! but if i were to make a comparison,,, hyunjoon was really just a crush but sunoo is the one i really fell for. anyways gush under cut cuz i doubt anyone cares
so if i have to be honest, i âfall in love at first sightâ w groups. usually the person i notice first becomes my bias. theres always one defining feature i usually fall in love with. so usually i tend to bias dancers (ex. ten, taemin, chaeyeon, wooyoung, san, etc etc) but with tbz i had exposure to them since boy and had been following their music since debut, but not the group.Â
Not until no air dropped did i really begin to fall in love w them. I had a lot of trouble picking a bias w tbz, which is very rare for me but i also think its because i had a ton of exposure to them before. in the boy mv i think the ones that stood out to me were sunwoo hyunjoon and jacob. In giddy up i considered joining the fandom (bc legendary song omg) and the ones that stood out in that mv were sunwoo chanhee and changmin. unluckily for me, i didnt end up getting into the fandom until no air dropped and i spent over a week picking a bias between hyunjoon, sunwoo, changmin, and kevin (as u can see its not that surprising i fell for sunwoo lol,,, it was just a matter of time) anyways, it was a long week but hyunjoons smile really just,,,,,, sold me
like cmon are you kidding me look at that he has the prettiest smile on earth and i still stand by that opinion. and after really investing myself in tbz, i found myself loving his unique dance style. the way he presents himself is so genuine and different from what i usually prefer in dancers. My favorite dancer is by far Ten and my brain auto compares dancers to him but with hyunjoon,,, the style was just so different that it was impossible to compare the two. So yeah I still love hyunjoon a lot! its just,,,, i love sunoo more
tbh i have no idea when i started falling so hard for kim sunwoo. it really just came gradually,,, and thats super strange for my âlove at first sightâ aries venus :â) though i dont remember exactly what moment made me start swerving, i know his lyrics and rap style played a big part in me becoming the biggest sunoonator on this earth. His first verse in 4EVER is by far the best thing i have ever heard (and in an interview he also said those lines were some of his favorite lyrics hes written!!!
another thing that really swayed me was the bday prank. that clip made me pay so much more attention to him when before i was one track minded on hyunjoon. but seeing him just break down when he realized those he loved werenât actually fighting showed me how genuine he was. by paying more attention to him, i really just,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, swooned for that dorky smile of his (example below bc i want to câ:)
and his overall quirkiness.
something ive also been loving and noticing recently is his absolute hatred for skinny jeans LOL and same. I literally wear joggers every single day bc i cant be bothered. Sunwoos fashion looks so comfortable and he pulls it off so well! its something i can appreciate and love
and the final thing. this is probably the biggest reason i absolutely love love love him! its the way he interacts and treats his fans. idk if you follow the fancafe but sunwoo updates the most out of all of the members. He basically writes in the fancafe every single day, even if its as simple as âdeobis what are you doing?â and no matter what, hes always talking about deobis in his updates and almost always reminds us that he loves us! theres one fancafe letter he wrote that i have bookmarked and saved and its the one where he literally starts off by saying that hes awake at 5:20 am (iirc this was after TFMAs where they won the next leader award) bc he cant sleep and he just pours out his late night (or in this case early morning lol) thoughts and its just him talking about his career and how he is so honored to be able to perform on the same stage as his seniors. he also talks about how he is so grateful to deobis and begins explaining his thoughts about the relationship between artists and their fans and how beautiful he finds this relationship. and he continues to describe what kind of singer he wants to be: a loveable singer who can cheer others up. he said that deobis are the ones who helped him become the person he is today and how he always will be sincere to deobis that cheer for him :â(( this is a super dumbed down ver of his letter bc my korean isnt extremely good but he basically ends by saying heâll continue to improve for deobis and that he really loves us :( this letter was then posted around an hour later at around 6 am :( so he basically spent an hour writing a letter to deobis at the crack of dawn just bc he wanted to tell us his thoughts,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i rly,,,,,,,, im so sad hes the sweetest :(Â
oh also special creds to @jushaknyeon (especially this hakkjae clown), @noairmv, and @hwqll for clowning me so hard into finally biasing him love u guys sm lol
this is probably way way way more than what you were expecting but i really needed to let it all out :â) i love him to the end of the universe and back! and im pretty sure this time hes just going to be stuck with me :â) (his loss lmao)
if you read all the way down to here im so sorry for wasting your time LOLOLOL here is a sunoo gif as an apology
#eri.asks#uh. this turned out to be way longer than i expected LOLOLOL#fun fact: i officially admitted to being a solo sunwoo stan on his birthday lol#anyways sorry this took so long anon :')#and sorry for the huge wall of text#you dont have to read it if u dont want to :') i just needed somewhere to let it all out and your ask was the perfect opportunity#ty for the ask <3#and dw u are not clowning me :') the people who really clown me are andy ai and han#sunoo essays

this is gonna be a long list anon pls buckle up. also note that im not gonna link anything bc theres a lot but all of these songs are on youtube/spotifyÂ
đ xyloâs super gay, super incoherent music rec list đ
the basics / the popular ones
troye sivan. i know. I KNOW. half the playlist was already him but listen ive been a troye fan since he put out happy little pill & let me tell u all his songs have such a VIBE. blue neighborhood???? an iconic album. got me thru my last 2 years of high school. to this DAY i cannot listen to suburbia without thinking about driving to watch the sunrise on my first day of senior year w my best friend, sitting in the parking lot in her car n holding hands over the center console bc we were so scared of growing up. he just EVOKES that kind of MOOD u know??
listen to: foolsââ talk me downââ heavenÂ
frank ocean !!!! a bi ICON. i waited so long for new music n he blessed us with TWO ALBUMS. not only is his music spectacular and literally lyrically genius (âsee both sides like chanel?? c on both sides like chanel???â as a metaphor for bisexuality???? BEAUTIFUL. INCREDIBLE. LITERALLY AMAZING.) but he also just has sUCH an aesthetic.Â
listen to: thinkin bout you if ur feelin soft;Â ivy ââchanelââ nights if u want his newer stuff
lesbian jesus herself hayley kiyoko. anon. ANON. listen to me when i tell u that her music will change ur life. she is so RELATABLE and her songs are SO CATCHY. the girls like girls music video single handedly raised my gpa and cleared my acne.Â
listen to: everything uhh girls like girlsââ palaceââ gravel to the tempo
kehlani. im literally so obsessed. shes again another #bi icon. her gf is really cute. im in luv w her. sweetsexysavage is her latest album n its honestly??? driving my life force???? her voice is also just so lush & smooth while also bein slightly gravely in a way that makes me blush in public a lot like how can i be so gay for just her voice??? shes also just so charming n has the cutest smile and, again, iâm gay
listen to: honey is my fav song bc it reminds me of my gf (AGAIN: IM GAY) but distraction is v cute n flirty n a longtime fav. listen to in my feelings if ur ex is awful. also: keep on ââ piece of mind ââ the way feat. chance are all really good. just listen to her entire discography honestly
DODIE. ive been a dodie fan since i, a repressed baby gay, stumbled upon âsheâ on youtube and was filled with such immense love that i immediately stanned and here we are, 2 EPs later. nothing more relatable than pining for ur str8 best friend. pls listen to âsheâ it literally kickstarted my gay awakening
listen to: ill say it again, she ââ also sick of losing soulmatesââ her cover of somebody else by the 1975Â
against me. i dont know if ur into punk anon but even if ur not, consider checking out against me. lead singer laura jane grace is a super badass trans woman & trans dysphoria blues is an album with. suCH EMOTION.Â
listen to: black me out , a song to plan a revolution to. im here, im queer, im angry and its a midterm election year #registertovoteÂ
lesser known artists + singles + lgbtq+ artists that i know but am not a big fan of under the cut
let me go by tunde olaniran. i regularly cried listening to this song after a break up. if u wanna be emotional n gay this is a good one.Â
somebody loves you by betty who. ok not specifically gay (i dont think???) but it was used in a rlly cute gay marriage proposal (look it up on youtube im begging i guarantee u will be smiling for the rest of the day) and they are. ALWAYS. playing this one at pride. a bop.Â
boyfriend by tegan and sara. ok i know theyre technically popular but no one talks about their last album and boyfriend is a good song ok?? ok.
jenny by studio killers. another song about pining after ur best friend. can u tell i went THRU SOME STUFF in high schoolÂ
ok aGAIN i know that halsey is also technically mainstream but i didnt wanna write a whole paragraph about her. listen to strangers feat. lauren jauregui. #unpopularopinion but her last album was just âokâ dont @ me
HEART ATTACK BY LOONA. do u like k pop??? do u like gay girls???? do u like cute music videos???? my friend do i have the song for u
mary lambert. she did the hook in that macklemore song. pls listen to her other stuff its so good n soft n  âi cant think straight / im so gay / sometimes i cry the whole dayâ #relataBLE
everyone knows who sam smith is right?? anyway prayers is good. his entire last album is honestly so good but hes not a particular fav of mine.
elton john. a LEGEND. heâs like 150 years old but im hoping the sheer love of the gay community will keep him alive for another 150 years
ANGEL HAZE. ive been a long time fan. v emotional n the lyrics r heavy but honestly?? so important??? one of my fav rap artists
i know a place by muna. i listened to this on the way to pride n almost cried in front of my mom, my friends, and an entire BART station full of pride goers. its a v upbeat song, im just emotionalÂ
zolita. uhh not a big fan tbh, just not my musical style
girls/girls/boys by p!atd. ok also not technically gay (?? maybe??? there are some Bi Rumors but thats not my place to say) but anyways def a bi anthem. dont watch the music video its very âlets have two girls kiss for viewsâ which is like. not the msg of the song but whatever i aired my salt about that in 2013 n im not going back now
idk what kina grannisâs sexuality is (again, not my business) but she does a lot of good covers and never changes pronouns. i like sweater weather and shut up and dance with me a lot.Â
oh !! ben j pierce !! 2 v good songs about how gender roles r bullshit n heteronormativity is awful. hes also like my exact age n i luv his makeup tutorials.Â
there are honestly so many more. also a lot im forgetting. im so sorry you had to read thru this long incoherent post w my awful typingÂ
anyway if u want my full gay playlist on spotify just msg me off anon and ill give u a link (this goes for anyone btw !!) im currently adding + taking things out n its a constant work in progress but u know, its at least not the same 8 songs over and over again (no shade at 8tracks thoâŚ.ha âŚ)Â
#xylo speaks#sick beats#anon#ask#i know tumblr will mess up n put this in the tags of all these artists#im sorry in advanced#the only reason im not putting slashes thru all their names#is bc this post is hard enough to read already#sorry!!! dont mind me!!!!#this is btw not including songs that are like#gay but not really ??#gay bops by straight artists i mean#so like#example: its raining men by the weather girls#also these are all pretty modern#but dont think im missing out on george michael#im a big 80s fan#and ever since i came out my mom has been aggressively suggesting gay 80s music#in an attempt to relate#its sweet#but also means my playlists are all either#1980s synth or 2017 edm#and no in between#Anonymous#its 4 am btw#i swear im an adult w a functioning sleep schedule#this really is a mess im so sorry#i went back to schedule this for earlier since i forgot to change my time oopsie doopsie

Bonnaroo 2019: 10 Ones to Catch (Who Arenât Childish Gambino or Post Malone)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6f90b665cfb341f49acf391246a529e5/tumblr_inline_pswoaatQBU1s9on4d_540.jpg)
In a matter of a few short days, the sounds of music and ecstatic festival-goers will fill the air of Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee, as Bonnaroo delivers what is sure to be another year to remember. With performances from the likes of legendary jam band Phish, Cardi B, Childish Gambino, The Lonely Island, and so much more, we cannot wait to once again find ourselves confusing one stage name for the other.Â
With that being said, there is one fact you certainly should not be confused about and that is which up-and-coming artists you need to catch at Bonnaroo this year. For our full list of not-to-be-missed sets, check below and be sure to listen to our curated playlist to familiarize yourself with all ten of our ones to catch at Bonnaroo 2019.
Faye Webster
youtube
When & Where: Sunday, 12:45pm at This Tent
There is no separating Faye Webster from her art. âI have to write about very personal things for me to even to want to write,â the 21-year-old Atlanta, Georgia, native confesses when speaking on her now critically-acclaimed album Atlanta Millionaires Club. It is a praiseworthy album for many reasons and one you certainly need to hear live. From existing as a mesmerizing blend of alternative country and R&B to painting a deeply personal account of Webster as an artist and human with its storytelling-like approach to songwriting, this Atlanta native is irrefutably one to watch in the future and one to catch at Bonnaroo.Â
Jack Harlow
youtube
When & Where: Thursday, 5:45pm at This Tent
Louisville, Kentucky, hip-hop artist Jack Harlow feels poised for rap stardom. With a wholly infectious Southern drawl that builds the foundation for his laidback flow, there is an effortless warmth to Harlowâs distinctive hip-hop stylings. It is a unique gift and flair the Louisville rapper flexes time and time again in his major label debut mixtape Loose, and whether he uses that gift to reference his New Balances or reference the Frankie Munizâled move Agent Cody Banks, Harlow never fails to deliver an indispensable vibe. Â
bĂźlow
youtube
When & Where: Thursday, 9:30 at Who Stage
You need to look no further than bĂźlow for tomorrowâs pop star. First coming to prominence with her 2017 breakout single âNot A Love Song,â the Germany-born artist burst onto the scene as a fresh and innovative voice in the realm of lovelorn and lovesick pop anthems. And in the span of less than two years since making her impeccable debut, bĂźlow has racked up plays totaling over a hundred million and currently finds herself on tour with fellow pop phenom Lauv. As if that was not enough, she also dropped one of the best projects of 2019.
liily
youtube
When & Where:Â Saturday, 8:30pm at Who Stage
liily is on the cusp of a DIY rock revolution. The project of four Los Angeles teenagers, liily is providing a safe space for fans of rock, new and old alike, to lose themselves in an ensuing mosh pit and a deluge of exhilarating electric guitars. There is crazed frenetic energy that bleeds forth from liilyâs nostalgic yet inventive sonic meditations, which can be heard both in their debut EP, I Can Fool Anybody in This Town, and their heart-racing live show. Do yourself a favor and do not miss the beginning of this revolution.
Delacey
youtube
Delacey may have only one single to her name but her promise is limitless. The 26-year-old California native grew up listening to her fatherâs record collection, finding inspiration in the likes of Billie Holiday and Stevie Nicks. Today, Delacey stands as a timeless voice in the realm of blues-minded pop, delivering a smoke-room filled vibe and arresting voice in the vein of Amy Winehouse. This is the first chapter of a voice poised to go down in history, and Bonnaroo will mark one of the first of many festival stages to come for this star to be.
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
youtube
When & Where: Sunday, 5:15pm at Who Stage
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, popularly shortened to iDKHOW, is keeping the dream of scene kids alive everywhere. Blending macabre, tongue-in-cheek lyrics with euphoric bouts of electrifying pop-rock, the Salt Lake City duo is making a stir in the alternative music scene and beyond. With only a single EP to their name, 2018âs 1981 Extended Play, Bonnaroo will give us what we and fans have been clamoring for for far too longâthe chance to hear new music from iDKHOW.
Peach Pit
youtube
When & Where: Thursday, 3:30pm at That Tent
If the crawl of summer had a sound, we imagine it would sound a little something like Peach Pit. The Vancouver-based indie rock outfit combines the lackadaisical vibe of endless summer days with a healthy helping of teenage angst for fair measure. It is the sort of everlasting music that instantly transports you to lazily enjoying your suburban youth, whether you may have actually lived such an experience or not. Trust us when we say that you will not want to miss out on this vibe quite like no other.
Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers
youtube
When & Where: Sunday, 3:30pm at Which Stage
Like the doting parents we are, it brings us nothing but joy to watch Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers go from absolutely crushing it on their Ones To Watchâpresented tour to preparing for what is sure to be a not-to-be-miss set at one of the biggest music festivals in America. With a foot in both the world of frenetic spoken word hip-hop and alternative rock, a Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakersâ show is bound to be quite like anything else you will see all weekend. So, grab a peach scone and a friend, and check out the astounding world of Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers.
Mk.Gee
youtube
When & Where:Â Thursday, 7:45 at Who Stage
Mk.Gee may just be the only artist on this list who can claim a Frank Ocean cosign, and upon a single listen to any track from either of his funk-driven projects, it is clear as day as to why. The dreamy project of Michael Gordon, Mk.Gee makes dance music for the soul. Calling to mind the groove-inducing, dance floor meditations of Toro y Moi, Mk.Gee weaves together elements of jazz, funk, electronica, R&B, and pop with an unprecedented creative flourish, bringing to life a sound that is entirely his own.
Clairo
youtube
When & Where: Saturday, 12:20am at This Tent
In many ways, Clairo is what a pop star looks like in 2019. From first breaking onto the scene with the self-released and produced lo-fi bedroom number âPretty Girlâ to then playing festivals across the world, witnessing the monumental growth of the bedroom pop artist has been anything but a bore. And with the release of her latest single, âBags,â Clairo is ushering in the next chapter of her life. Currently working towards her long-awaited debut album Immunity, Bonnaroo will be one of the first places to hear some of it live.

Dear New ARMYs
Dear New ARMYs Please take good care of our boys when you become an ARMY. Please don't only love one member, as it's a rule for all of ARMY to appreciate every single member no matter what. First, there's our leader, Kim Namjoon aka Rap Monster He is brilliant. He's in the top percentage of intellects in South Korea, and taught himself how to speak and write English fluently. He raps like no other and is secretly the actual visual of the band. I mean, he's perfect. Second is Kim Seokjin. He's the oldest of the group, but acts like the youngest (maknae). His favourite colour is pink, and he loves food. He even has his own show called EAT Jin where he eats food live and talks to the fans. He's the visual of the group and most definitely the most underrated, so we welcome new Jin stans with open arms! Third is Min Yoongi aka Suga aka Agust D. I'm honestly not sure where to start with Yoongi, as he is my idol, and a person who I look up to a lot. He is the main rapper of the group, writes all the lyrics, and produces the songs. He is a god send. he's also the boyfriend of Jimin, though he won't admit it. I don't want to give a lot away, but you should look into him on your own, and read about his background, because honestly, he's been through so much and deserves the world. Fourth is Jung Hoseok aka J-Hope aka Hobi. He. Is. The. Fucking. Sun. Hobi, our hope, our angel, J-Hope. Hobi is the main dancer and actually makes a lot of the choreos for the group, so he's just amazing. He's very happy, energetic and honestly, you can't help but love him. His raping voice is very unique but beautiful non-the-less. Y'all better Stan him as hard as ya can because he's the real deal. Fifth is Park Jimin. Honestly, there isn't a soul in ARMY who doesn't like Jimin. He's so bubbly, and cute, and so much more. He's a lil smol bean, and is the shortest of the group and is thus made fun of for that reason. But, we still love him no matter what. Despite his angelic, pure face, this boy is sin and I'd be surprised to ever find someone who didn't like him from the off. Sixth is Kim Taehyung aka V. Tae (my first bias) is honestly perfect. He's the perfect blend of unique, cute and manly. This boy is O B S E S S E D with Gucci and he wears 100% Gucci only. One thing I NEED to point out: NEVER EVER GIVE HIM THE NICKNAME ALIEN. HE HATES IT AND ITS DISRESPECTFUL TO HIM. IM WARNING YOU RN. Anyway, he's lovely, and his voice is very smooth and deep, and just amazing. Last (and definitely not least) is Jeon Jungkook. My current bias, Kookie (his nickname) is the youngest of BTS and by far one of the best singers ever. He covers a lot of English songs which show his amazing voice, and he is referred to as the Golden Maknae as there is NOTHING he can't do. When he debuted at 15, he could sing, dance, rap, and everything in between. Jungkook is honestly talent in a human but very awkward so please take care of him. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan (ë°Ší ěë
ë¨) which is Korean for Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Now I'm gonna make this clear - if you're a fan who ain't gonna stay, please, please, just don't hurt the boys while you're a fan. I'm aware there will be bandwagon fans and I'm prepared for it, but please don't hurt our boys. They're so precious and what they achieved last night is something no Kpop artist has ever done. Please respect them. If you're looking for bomb-ass songs to get to know them, here are a few (or a lot) to get you started: Cypher Part 4 - the newest instalment of the rap line ROASTING HOES Dead Leaves - my favourite, and pretty much everyone's favourite Tomorrow - literally saved my life Run - dasi run run runnnnn I Need U - this is dope af Dope - talking of Dope. This is the song that introduced me to the boys and I love it Whalien 52 - a beautiful song that you should listen to - Begin Lie Stigma First Love These are solo songs. 100% Reflection worth listening to Mama Awake - No More Dream - their debut song Like - DONT WANNA BE FOOL WANNA BE COOL WANNA BE LOVED SAME LOVE AS YOUUUU War of Hormone - la la lalalalaaaa Coffee - a metaphorical song wow Save Me - THE CHOREO FOR THIS IS AMAZING N.O. - because fuck rules and society Cypher Part 3 - my fav part worth the listen because Yoongi talks about giving head kinda OTHER SONGS THAT ARENT BTS The boys also release their own songs that are worth listening to. Lost Stars - Cover by Jungkook Fools - Cover by Jungkook and Rap Monster 1 Verse - J-Hope Agust D - Agust D (Suga/Yoongi) Tony Montana - Agust D The Last - Agust D Joke - Rap Monster Do You - Rap Monster Someone Like You - Cover by V Eomma - Jin That's just a very SMALL selection of songs, they have a lot of amazing tracks to listen to so definitely just spend time listening to all their albums and mini-albums. Please send love and respect, and understand that Kpop is completely different to western pop. It is absolutely amazing, as idols are trained for years before debut. It's hard, backbreaking, and so different to western pop. Don't just Stan BTS either, there's lots of other AMAZING groups to at least take a look at, as BTS are a third generation group, second gens like EXO, SHINee and Big Bang are phenomenal and you should definitely check them out. Other third gens like GOT7, Pentagon and Red Velvet are equally awesome. The girls are amazing btw. Just putting that out there. There's also a k-hip hop scene which I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE with the likes of Jay Park, Gray, Zico, Mino, Ugly Duck, Crush (kinda), CL, Hyuna and a shit ton more. ARMY welcome you all to the fam, we will love you and take care of you and teach you everything you need to know, but in exchange, all we ask for is respect to BTS, that's all. A lot of us are scared about what is going to come from the BBMAs so please, don't let our worst fears come true! Welcome to ARMY đđ

đ˘LISTEN đ˘ UPđ˘ ARMYSđ˘ HERE ARE 23 UNDERRATED Âż!MORE!Âż RAP MONSTER TRACKS THAT YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY POSITIVELY SHOULD CHECK OUT by @btsxlami
Hey guys its your favourite Namjoon promoter here again a.k.a LAMI! My last post got a lot of notes so whoop whoop and included my personal favourite 23 Namjoon tracks which you can find here
Part 2 of my underrated Namjoon series.
Here are 23 more bc damn Namjoon has a lot of fcking songs!
Disclaimers: (HOLD UP IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME SEEING THIS I SUGGEST YOU SEE PART ONE)
1. i will include tracks that Namjoon covered
2. I will include tracks that Namjoon featured in
3. I will include tracks that I personally feel the need to be well known *so no I wonât put expensive girl even tho thats my shit*
4. This list will be a bit more laid back since I covered a lot of the most important songs in the last list sooo
5. since i covered his best and most âimportantâ tracks in the last list theres not many left but ill probably include his REALLY early like pre debut fetus tracks with his underground rapper friends, tbh I personally donât think they are the best but you can definitely see how he grew and where he started from
6. enjoY! and reblog kekeke
7. THIS IS A LONG ASS LIST AND I FUCKING ANALYZED EACH SONG SO I EXPECT YALL TO READ AND APPRECIATE NAMJOON GODDAMIT
8. you can always go to BTSâs official soundcloud for unofficial official tracks yeet
9. titles with stars are ones i recommend ( i should of done this for part one yikes)
1. Voices by Rap Monster â
from his first 2015 mixtape RM > Check out the full album here >> Â XÂ *you can refer to more mixtape songs in my previous list
I feel as if this song is the closest a fan can get with Kim Namjoon. Just listening to it you feel a bit relaxed and almost a bit sad when you start listening to the first half of the song. This song reflects a personâs tender emotions and voices that run inside of someoneâs head when they are confused. I remember listening to this 2 years ago and towards the end Namjoon starts screaming out all his pain and I started crying. C R Y I N G
Namjoon had a really smooth life up until he started pursuing hip hop. He was a beyond smart student and had a happy family so why the hell would he be depressed? He had his whole life ahead of him right?
But this lyrics totally breaks that facade down
â I didnât have any dreams just like my lyrics, every day in that way the functions and equations that couldnât give me an answer in the end those things became uncountable injuries â
Despite having such amazing grades Namjoon did not know what the hell he wanted to do with his life, he didnt want to go into something academic despite being good at it, he was lost in life and his academics could not make him happy but instead hurt him even more.
â thought I could catch the mirage known as happiness but the me in front of my desk wasnât happy even for a moment without my mom knowing, I put a sheet of white paper between the pages of my workbook â
This verse totally broke me apart. He wanted to be happy while being in school but school sure as hell did not make him happy. His parents looked up to him as some smartass freak but without them knowing he started writing his own lyrics to cope with his hardships.
âmy identity that I wrote down matched to the drum and bass a different, relaxed feeling compared to when I got my report card even when I was #1 my heart couldnât relaxâ
The music brought out his true inner feelings, music brought out his true personality rather than when he was almost robot like studying with no self-identity. Despite being number one in class he still felt an emptiness that only music could fill.
âeven as 7 years passed... still making my mixtape by myself in one corner of my room some say Iâm fake, okay, I admit it, my dark past I can justify it, but I wonât, so that kind of problem wonât happen again the pedal that I stepped on for 7 years has finally been oiled â
Namjoon has been writing music and tried to get recognition for 7 years, despite Bangtan getting fame he is still lonely writing his own mixtape in a dark corner, kind of pathetic ehh idk, in his mixtape interview his dark past was his problematic sayings and actions. He felt the need to appropriate culture in order to rap. He then figured out that music and culture had nothing to do with eachother, music is for everyone. *Iâm fake*
And finally after all the hardships after 7 years he is finally started to receive praise and attention!
2. WE ARE BULLETPROOF PT.1 by: Rap Monster, Supreme Boi, and Iron â
Composed 6-7 years ago when Namjoonie was about 15 or 16 THIS SONG IS FUCKING BOP.Â
2 of Bangtans were also first members are featured here: Supreme boi (yall probably familiar with him) and Iron! (i hope iron never affiliates with Bangtan ever again tho we dont need a criminal around them yikes)
3. Hook by Supreme Boi, Iron, and Namjoon (also the track used in Yoongiâs all i do is win)
Extremely old and pre debut, but old is gold
Probably one of Namjoonâs only âdissâ song, he usually doesnt diss others while he raps tbvh
4. Seventeen by Rap monster
I FEEL LIKE I SHOULDNT MAKE FUN OF HIM BC 15 YEAR OLD NAMJOON AT THE TIME WAS PROBABLY REALLY PROUD BACK THEN BUT HE LOOKED SO FUCKING FUNNY BC DAMN THAT HAIR AND HIS VOICE SOUNDS LIKE A CHIPMUNK BUTHUSDHUFUFSUD
5. SKOOL OF TEARS By: Rap Monster, Suga, and Jin â
Absoloute MASTERPIECE! FIRST OF ALL THE ORIGINAL TRACK IS FROM SWIMMING POOLS BY KENDRICK LAMAR AND I LOVE KENDRICK! SECOND, THE RAP FLOW SOUNDS AMAZING NAMJOON IS GOING SO HARD AND DAMN YOONGI BACK AT IT AGAIN! ALSO CREDS FOR BABY BOY JIN FOR SOUNDING SO BADASS HERE BUT HERE IS WHY I LOVE THIS SONG!
I think its absolutely amazing how Namjoon especially writes song towards youth suffering in school, it takes a lot of guts to write against a society that has been around for decades.Â
â This is a ring called a classroom This is a stadium with no referee only an audience You know there will never be a victor everyone will lose There will be no victor everyone will loseâ
â Thatâs right, in the end school is like another mini society A jungle made carelessly by adults They made the weaklings weak, they made the strong powerful Of course since they were strong they made the weak suffer A society built on the teachings that friends are only for pretend The morals of adults made us step on the weak to rise to the top â
Its clear to see that Namjoon has suffered in school but also isnt afraid to address the truth.
6. Expensive girl by Rap MonsterÂ
( I FUCKING DISCOVERED THIS SONG WHEN I WAS LIKE 11-12 AND I NEVER WANTED TO PUT THIS HEAR BUT YALL LIKE FOUGHT ME TO ADD THIS TO THE LIST GODDAMIT I HATE YALL I GOT LIKE HATE MAN OKAY)
âTake it off now girl just take it off (Iâm a master, baby with your bra)Take it off now girl just take it off (I can help you slide those panties off)(..Iâm a beat that pussy like you never ever felt before)x2âł
7. Converse High (original version SUNG by Rap Monster)â
Yall probably heard Bangtanâs Converse High but here was the original version written by Namjoon that was rejected bc of the swearing omg damn joonie, BUT HE SINGS SO BEAUTIFUL IN THIS YESS
(funny story in seventh grade when this came out it was the last day of school and i requested my teacher to stay after school late so i could finish listening to the whole thing)
8. Suicide by Rap Monster
Rapmon wrote this mixtape in the point of view of a baby in his motherâs tummy. The babyâs parents are high school kids who are forced to go through abortion.
*this song was deleted bc of copyright and also the source of it is unknown but hey ITS IN ENGLISH AND DAMN NAMJOON RIGHTS DEEP SHIT*
(tf is namjoon doing u good)
9. What am I to you by Rap Monster from the 2014 Dark & wILDÂ â
if you DONT KNOW THIS SONG I SUGGEST YOU RETHINK YOUR LIFE DECISIONS BC LOWKEY HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST INTROâS TO A OFFICIAL BTS ALBUM (gif is from the live ver of this song and he started crying ok)
So Namjoon used to have a girlfriend who âmistreatedâ him. Tbvh we really donât know what happened but on problematic men he said it wasnt anything serious it was just she would neglect him and not spend enough time but also hang out with other men.
(gif aint mine so gif blogs dont come at me)
But clearly the lyrics of this song are very emotional but the real reason why this song is a masterpiece is because of the rise of  emotions.
It starts off slow and cute, Namjoon mentions how he loves the girl and how their love is pure and innocent, throwing cute love phrases and the song sounds so soft, hopeful, and romantic. But in the middle the music starts to get more serious and Namjoon starts to question the relationship. He feels as if the girl thinks of this relationship as more of a task and a job, and slowly as the song comes to an end NAMJOON STARTS FUCKING SCREAMING AND BELTING! ALL THE EMOTIONS BUILD UP AND HE STARTS SCREAMINGÂ âWHAT AM I TO YOU GIRL WHAT AM I TO YOU I DO LOVE YOU CRAZY UH DO YOUâ LIKE IT WAS SCARY I WAS CRYING IM LIKE NAMJOON WHO TF HURT YOU
10. Always by Rap Monster â
This song is more recent and farely well known but I still felt the need to put this masterpiece here. Namjoon said not to worry about him as the lyrics are really sad and almost ???SUICIDAL??? but he said he wrote this when he was stressed last year. Its kind of a self questioning song about life and your purpose. I cried when it came out. well i always cry when i listen to namjoon is it a surprise.
I'm honestly in tears because this song goes to show how hurt Namjoon still is even after all these years. Even after all these awards, fans, and accomplishments. Depression still hurts after a long time. I can tell that this song was talking about his past. This song literally made me realize Namjoon was questioning his existence and I wanna hold him so badly. Guys...we could of lost Kim Namjoon. My absolute favourite human being in the entire world who saved my life. He is a human being who does not deserve such pain but I am so proud he endured it so well and look how far he came. One of my favourite verses "I live for the sake of understanding this world, but why hasnt the world tried to understand me atleast once" Its a really vague phrase which is why I like it. WORLD could mean destiny, fate, life, even parents. Â He tries so hard to accept his life, to understand his parents wishes, sacrificing his own happiness yet fate decides to only give him the worst. "Dad please listen to me" "dead dad, your dead to me," Talking about how his dad wouldn't let him rap. I remember him mentioning that his dad once told him all that education he worked hard for was for nothing and I canât imagine how sad Namjoon felt in that moment. "I would tell god if I ever meet him, i would hold him by the collar and tell him this life is like a coffee I never ordered" A pretty sad and a bit confusing verse, maybe leading to why Namjoon eventually became an atheist. Namjoon was in so much pain he didnt want to be born. "I wished I was dead...... I wished âSomeone would kill me" No Namjoon never utter such words. My joonie mini I hope you are better and hopeful now, look at how far you came, your so successful and loved, and you made your family proud. Dont ever doubt yourself and even think about death, just keep living happily and moving forward. He honestly felt lost in this point of his life and still continues to feel lost. Namjoon you have such in important role and your existence was destined. You were born for a reason. You were born to change lives.Â
11. J-Lim ft. Rap Monster & Iron - Ashes
12. TIPSY BY RAP MONSTER & SUPREME BOI
Namjoon wrote this in the beginning of his rap career when he was still trying to find where he stood as a rapper. He mentions how he isnt doing this for the fame or money and he isnt the next Nas or Tupac he just wants to rap for the love of it.
13. Rap Monster of ë°Šíěë

17. Glory By Rap Monster
"I'm a dick? Yeah, when you disturb me, I grow bigger" SO FUCKING DONE
*there was lowkey lowkey controversy bc he said he tore 4 hymens BUT DETECTIVE LAMI FIXED IT*
In the beginning Namjoon says that people looked at him pitifully because he joined BTS,  the Underground rappers were disappointed with him which led the Underground rappers to leave him, which has ripped his hymen. Not 4 hymen of random girls. 4 and "I" sound the same in Korean
it's a bit weird but in this case he is talking about himself all the hate people showed has ripped his hymen symbolizing his innocence for music.
18. NAA BY RAP MONSTER
tHE ORIGINAL BEAT WAS DEUCES BY CHRIS BROWN I WAS DYING
19. REGULAR VOICE BY RAP MONSTERÂ â
A really sweet and open-minded song about Namjoon wanting a âregular girlâ âHeight? I donât care. Age? I donât mind it. When you say, âIâll only look at youâ then Iâm okay. Whether your skin is light or dark it doesnât really matter, our love is deeper than that. â
I feel as if idols are pressured to have certain ideal types and say them out in the open, Namjoon had bad influences around him *underground rappers* which also influenced his negative sayings towards certain things but he wrote this song all alone at a young age which shows that his intentions are pure, and ever since he apologized for his wrong doings you go joon.
his voice sounds like sex
20. DREAMING BY RAP MONSTER
FETUS CHUBBY WTF HAIR NAMJOON IS BACK

more life
More Life
The Biggest rapper in the world sounds more relaxed than he ever has on "More Life", a record that sees him pulling collaborators from all corners of the globe to create a playlist for the club or the sesh.
Culture-vulture, wave-rider, trend-hopper: all of these terms have been used as sleights against Drake throughout his career. Whether it be breaking the Weeknd and having Abel Tesfaye write half the hooks on "Take Care" or stealing the beat for "Hotline Bling", Drake has always had to face these allegations and they have usually been justified. This trend culminated with the massively successful release of "Views", and the equally massive backlash that album saw from fans and critics around the rap community.
"Views" was a slog of a record. Ten songs too long, the decision to break it into 6 rap songs, 10 pop songs and another 4 or so rap songs served to alienate both his rap fanbase and his broader, pop audience. And the singles all hopped on the sound of the moment, Dancehall-lite tropical pop. Problematically, Drake had started singing and rapping with a Jamaican accent, and cut Popcaan off of a massively successful single that he probably wrote. Drake's faux patois on the album was grating, and the most overt pop moves of his already very commercial career felt like a concious pivot away from hip-hop.
Sure "Views" had great lyrical tracks, hits and some beautiful melodies, but the length, structure, and overwhelming darkness of the album wears on the listener. It is not a classic record the same way "Nothing Was The Same" or "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" were, that's for sure.
So now, nearly a year later, Drake has given us "More Life", a 'playlist', not an album, but a record that features 22 tracks, 20 of which are Drake songs. The record is leagues more enjoyable than "Views", and up there with the best records Drake and 40 (for they are one and the same at this point, the most dominant songwriters of the decade) have done.
Drake has taken the accusations of trend-hopping and turned them on their head, curating a truly international album with songs that appeal to his broadest audience yet. He has finally figured out how to make these different regional sounds he has been messing with into authentic and respectable sounding songs. The standout example of this would be the song "Get it Together", in which he takes a classic black coffee song and essentially changes nothing, simply adding his own lyrics. Instead of the culture vulture feeling that songs like Hotline Bling or Controlla gave, it feels like an expertly calculated display of good taste, and works flawlessly.
This newfound clarity is clear from the features too. UK rappers Giggs and Skepta have verses, and the sound of London is all over the playlist. This allows him to co-opt UK slang like 'KMT' or 'wasteman' and not sound ridiculous because he has the godfathers of this shit all over the damn record. Similarly, the riddims, the sheer amount of looks he has thrown Popcaan and Vybz Kartel at this point, and the fact he's calling these songs "Blem" and "Madiba Riddim" make all this Jamiacan shit more acceptable to me than Views was. It also helps that the songs are less overtly pop leaning than songs like "Too Good" or "Work". This shit will never be for me, and 'Gyalchester' is easily the worst song on the album to me at the moment, but when he gives you 22 songs it doesn't matter if a few miss.
Because everything else is fucking HEATERS. From the first two songs, you'd be forgiven for thinking we're gonna get another "IYRTITL", just low stakes bars over the hardest beats money can buy. That's what I thought. Then you get to "Passionfruit". If there's any justice, this song will be the biggest hit of Aubrey Graham's career. It hits the same beats emotionally as "Hold on We're Going Home", but over a truly futuristic and out there house beat that wouldn't sound out of place in Fabric, Output or anywhere else. The song is incredible, my first time listening to it I couldn't believe that he made a song like this and actually wound it back on the record but it works and is just amazing. very cheeky!
"Get it Together" is great, the Jamaican sounding songs (Blem, Gyalchester, madliba riddim) are all wack to me though. Sampha's "4422" is better than half the songs on "Process" (which was kind of a disappointment now that I think about it). If he was gonna include an obscure British singer he'd worked with before I'd have preferred Jai Paul! Skepta's track is hard obviously.
Then comes "Portland" featuring Quavo and Travis Scott, which, besides "Passionfruit", is the other obvious hit on this record. This shit bangs. It's also using that flute sound which has been really big in the last month or so, that future song and "Tunnel Vision" have it too. Anyway, the first line of the song is already a meme "My side bitch got a 5s with the screen cracked" and the hook+flutes+features mean the song is guaranteed to be huge. The next tune, "Sacrifices" with Thug and 2Chainz would've been the hit 5 years ago, sounds a lot like "All Me". Hook is kind of boring but 2Chainz might have legitimately the best verse on the whole playlist. Dude will be rapping hilarious verses everyday until he's like 90. "Got wood on the Cartier, that's a face full of splinters!" Thug is obviously great. more on him later.
"Nothing Into Something" is simp Drake and I'm sure the people who enjoy that will enjoy it. "Teenage Fever" is great though. The J-Lo sample is so obvious but so great. it's a solid reminder that Drake isn't writing these songs about random thots, he is writing them about his relationships with Jennifer Lopez or Serena Williams. Drake was a teenager when that J-lo song came out. You have to respect the hustle that he got with her and then sampled her on a song about how into her he was as a teenager. damn. left turn indeed.
Fuck "KMT" though, free X! The Giggs verse on "KMT" is tied with the 2Chainz verse for best on the album though. This is the one bit of swaggerjacking on this record I can't abide, just completely stole xxxtentacion's flow. x will be huge though we aren't worried. Gotta be honest looking at the tracklist I don't even remember "Lose You" and "Can't have everything". I listened to them again they are ok. "Lose you" has some clever lines it's pretty good actually. "Can't have everything" is aite but the bit with his mum at the end is pure fire.
"Glow" featuring Kanye would be the one dissapointing moment on the record for me. The song is actually really good, especially the end and the way the sample comes in, awesome. But it feels like this song was supposed to be the intro for the Drake x Ye record, which hearing this would have been fucking incredible. hopefully we still get it. This is Kanye's first appearance on wax since the whole Trump thing, so I'm glad his neighbor has thrown him this look and happy he seems a bit better! Good for you Ye!
PND is kinda trash imo. Fake Love is a dope song we know this already. "Ice Melting" is fucking awesome though, probably my favorite song on the record right now. The hook is like all the songs from "jeffery" combined together like voltron into their final form for this Drake album. This song also deserves to be a hit but then again I think every catchy Thug song will be a hit and only "Lifestyle" ever was! Thug has two features and he is definitely the lowkey MVP of this album.
Also, I might write something more in depth about this but Thug definitely wrote Drake's verse on "Sacrifices". This segues into a bigger point I guess. We are now nearly two years removed from the Quentin Miller tapes and Meek Mill's accusations. It is interesting how the conversation shifted from "is it true?" to "does it matter?" and I think the answer to the second question is a resounding no. I have come to terms with the fact that Drake gets a lot of help on his songs, and that a lot of his throwaways, feature verses, and even a few hits are written by other people. Drake is always there I'm sure but it's clear that Thug wrote that verse. This is all besides the point of the actual quality of the album but w/e. point is, no one cares and it doesnt matter.
Maybe because these events are so behind him, Drake sounds more relaxed on âMore Lifeâ. On âViewsâ he sounded angry, defensive, and it made the music sound cold. âMore Lifeâ on the other hand, sees Drake sit back and make songs for the club and the people more than for himself and his ego. If âViewsâ was a cold, dark, winters day, then âMore Lifeâ is a summer night, seemingly never ending, just good vibes.Â
Man, I barely even talked about the sound of this album! 40's atmosphere and sound is so familiar at this point that it's hard to say anything new. It's lush, its lavish, its deep, its loud. These 22 songs form a collection of the most expensive sounding beats currently possible to make. Honestly, these Drake records are at the point that we can compare them to Pink Floyd or Chic in the attention to detail and sheer fidelity of the sound. Yet dont say they dont evolve. "Passionfruit", "Portland", "Ice Melting" and "fake love" really do sound different to anything Drake has rapped over before. Drake and 40 have a formula, they are never going to flip the script like Kendrick did with "TPAB" and that's fine. These guys have another 5 or so years of this before they start to fall off, just enjoy it.
