Reborn into the world of Harry Potter, Poppy Evans has only one goal; make sure she's not the only magical Evans alive by 1982. And maybe save that smug Potter while she's at it. Regulus Black didn't fit into the equation; he wasn't suppose to be so distracting. A Mature SI fic

Three years after he escaped from the nightmare forced upon him by the Gaunt wretch, Tom Riddle meets another witch.
The Castle Where Eternity Dwells (FF | AO3) By: The Carnivorous Muffin (FF | AO3)
Elizabeth Riddle knows too much about things that prove to be both out of time and mostly useless as her twin brother searches for the castle where eternity dwells and the revolution which must open its doors. AU SI insert.
Cisme (FF | AO3) By: Dark and Chaotic (FF | AO3)
The world had always been such a terrible, beautiful place, full of colors. Then why do we always split it in half, in Black and White? In Good and Evil? Nobody has one without the other. I thought I knew what the world was about. But then I died. Then I found Magic. Or, rather, it found me. Fem!harry OC insert.
Magical Me By: Publicola
Most self-inserts are exercises in vanity, and nothing says 'vanity' quite like Gilderoy Lockhart. But with a new personality and knowledge of the future, who knows? Maybe Lockhart will turn out to be a useful DADA teacher after all.

(Please see the remix of this work for new chapters. This version is discontinued, but the story lives on!  Chapter 58 has some new content!)

it is better to light a candle, than to curse the darkness By: Shadowblayze (FF | AO3)
(Remix of my work, "Triumphant, the Dreamer)
Heather's not exactly sure how she got here, but if these people thought that they would be able to manipulate her little brother without a her raising hell about it, they were about to be unpleasantly surprised.
Blackwand Chronicles By: S’TarKan (FF | FA | SIYE | PS | RR | VD)
Dumbledore, despite his misgivings, offers an opportunity to a boy temporarily lost in the muggle world. There are some disquieting similarities to another student he remembers from before.
[Rating may increase later in the story.]
[One Piece]
Unintended Consequences By: Umei no Mai (FF | AO3)
Mermaids are very free with their affections and pirates aren't the type to say no to a pretty face; logically then any number of those who sail the Grand Line might have offspring they've never met. A parent casts a long shadow over the life of their child regardless, but pirates' children have so much more to prove and Dracule Lisska is no exception to this rule.
Unexpected Complications By: Umei no Mai (FF | AO3)
Dracule 'Fox' Lisska, Angel of Death and the King's Assassin, would have quite happily lived out her life without ever finding out why dozens of ships' crews vanished every year within the Florian Triangle. Unfortunately it was not to be, but that didn't mean she wouldn't make the most of things.
Rated M for explicit scenes.
Sequel to Unintended Consequences.
This Bites (FF | AO3 | SV | SB) By: Xomniac (FF | AO3)
Sea Kings, sea-sickness, sunburns, a 95% genocidal Navy and more than a million and one other assorted ways to die. It's official: Being inserted into an anime sucks ass... Buuut I guess it could be worse. I mean, look on the bright side: At least I'm sailing with the future king of the pirates.
(Self-Insert)
Twelve Red Lines (FF | SB) By: Vikingr
I expected to die when I went into the water. Instead, I was rescued by a crew of people who I knew only as characters in a story. But what does it take to become worthy of being a Straw Hat? And why are so many little details not matching up to what I know?
One Piece, Two Piece, Red Piece, Blue Piece By: Bluejay Blaze
I was four years old when I fell through a doorway between worlds. Luckily for me, I didn't end up alone. Three brothers and a gang of mountain bandits were kind enough to take me in. My older brother's gonna be king of the pirates, and he's bringing me and an ever expanding family along for the ride. Crazy? You bet. Awesome? Most definitely. Allons-y!
Murphy’s Law By: Plouton
You know that moment when everything you've ever known and loved and understood is brutally ripped from you following a painful death, and then you're forced to deal with the fallout when you realize you have been reincarnated into the corrupt, discriminatory, criminal-infested, gruesome, bastardized world of your favorite anime? Yeah, me neither.

Firefly (Series) (FF1) By: MoonRaven1412 (FF | AO3)
Do you believe in afterlife? Lana didn't but she always hoped it was true. She hoped for a chance to be free from the shackles of her illness. And when a year was given for her to live, she hoped for it more than anything else. And there was a world she wanted to live in more than anything. And that was the world of One Piece.
OC falls into OP story.

North Star Pirates By: MoonRaven1412 (FF | AO3)
Slingshot through the barrier between universes, scattered across the oceans ruling the new world, born under new names and varied understanding and recollection of the situation... The beginning was not made easy for the seven of them.
But they made do. Each of them took a course to become stronger, to learn skills needed to survive and find each other. It was unlikely that they'd ever get back home but at least they'd find piece of home in each other and the family they'd create together.
Nine Finns meet at anime convention and get dropped to One Piece, separated from each other. Story starts from there and from the beginning.
Ground Zero By: MoonRaven1412 (FF | AO3)
When you keep reincarnating again and again to different worlds and very rarely even reach double digits, you become pretty indifferent to the world and just keep wondering how soon you'll die next.
Of course exceptions are made. Reiko was satisfied with her current life even if circumstances were less than ideal. She had no idea which world she was at again but she had a wonderful brother. For the first time she found herself wishing she wouldn't die quite so soon.
“Do you really believe you’ll die soon?”
“Maybe not for a few years… but I’ll be lucky to reach my teens. But if I die, I hope I’ll be reborn to this world again soon. I wanna see Saka-nii again.”
“How will we find each other then?”
“Hm… You’ll be a marine. And I’ll…” Reiko paused to think. “I know! Regardless of the name given to me, I’ll call myself Umikaze Tooru. That’s a good name. And I’ll make sure that you’ll hear it someway.”
Or, a girl is born as Sakazuki's younger sister, dies and is later born again to One Piece world.
Margins (Series) By: Abalisk (FF | AO3)
Juniper Wilde never stood a chance against the call to adventure. A collection of her journeys through space and time and everywhere in between.
Alabaster Pieces (Series) By: Abalisk (FF | AO3)
Join Leith/Spoons on her wild adventures whether she likes it or not!
Gone Fishing (FF | AO3) By: KlonoaDreams (FF | AO3)
Life in the world of One Piece…isn't so great as one would think. Of course, I'm in no position to talk, considering how lucky I've been. Though, if there's one thing I've learned the hard way since my first life, it's that luck eventually runs out.

Three Sheets to the Wind (Series) (FF1 | FF2) By: Tsume Yuki (FF | AO3)

In the Interest of Justice (FF | AO3) By: Tsume Yuki (FF | AO3)
As if being reborn into One Piece isn't bad enough, of course she ends up thirty years before the actual story begins. Forget trying to survive everything the world can throw at her, before any of that, she has to survive childhood as a member of the Monkey family.

Zenith (FF | AO3) By: Tsume Yuki (FF | AO3)
The Senju allowing women to fight was a pleasant surprise. That she's part of the family where the two youngest brothers will die before ten? Not so much. But Sōkōma is Tobirama's twin; genetically, she can become something great. Here's hoping greatness will be enough to save her brothers.

Naruto Uzumaki is the saviour, the prophecy child. If there is one body you don't want to get shoved into, it's that one. Suddenly female or not.
And as the gods would have it, that's exactly where I ended up.
In the body of a blonde, whiskered female child with a mountain of expectations pressing down on those tiny little shoulders.
Brilliant.

Out of the Darkness: A Jinchuuriki’s Tale (FF | FA) By: S’TarKan (FF | FA | SIYE | PS | RR | VD)
People have asked for a sequel with Riley from There's Always A Way... So I got to wondering what someone with his sarcastic personality would be like in Naruto. Warning: This is darker and grittier.

This is a story about child soldiers. It's a story about family and friendship. It's a story about war, suffering, loss and grief. It's about finding comfort in each other in the face of terrible things, and making it through trauma.

SI/OC as part of the Russian Mafiya, liberties taken with crafting said Mafiya Family.
Turn Turtle (FF | AO3) By: Tsume Yuki (FF | AO3)
Sawada Kamehime starts off her second life with a built-in cheat-code. Then, during middle school, Byakuran comes barrelling into her life and things get a little more hectic.

The Best Home Theater Systems of 2020
1. The Smartest Home Theater System: Sonos 5.1 Beam Surround Set with Voice Assistant
Sonos Beam 5.1 System
Why it won
It would appear Sonos is resolved to clearing the field. At first thought about the upstart among industry monsters, Sonos is currently accomplishing for home theater what they accomplished for multi-room music – and the outcomes are great. read more
The Sonos Beam 5.1 Surround Set is all that you'd anticipate from the world's #1 remote sound organization as per CEPro magazine. Highs are completely clear, lows through the Sonos subwoofer punch with power, and exchange through the framework's highlight, the Beam Sound Bar, is both famously reasonable and reliably up front.
Furthermore, the framework is whip shrewd and accompanies a great list of capabilities. It's absolutely remote put something aside for the force line and HDMI yield. (Bye tangled jumble.) The Sonos application remains the best/most astute application in the business. Apple Airplay 2 comes included. It streams pretty much everything by means of the in excess of 50 music administrations upheld by Sonos. Include Amazon Alexa as well as Google Assistant voice control, in addition to a look that is inconspicuous, jazzy, and made to mix in – and you have a great decision. For genuinely vivid 5.1 encompass sound, however for incredible sounding music, as well. Indeed, it's somewhat expensive, however worth each penny as we would see it. Likewise note: Sonos resembles LEGOs (which we expounded all on in our Sonos Buying Guide here).
This Package Includes: Beam Compact Smart Sound Bar With Voice Control | SUB Wireless Subwoofer | 2 OneSL Speakers for Stereo Pairing and Home Theater Surrounds | Power Cords | HDMI Cable | Available in Black or White

#2. The Best Wireless Home Theater System: Bose Soundbar 700 with Bass Module 700 and Surround Wireless Speakers
Bose Sound Bar 700 5.1 System
Why it won
In our "Best Sound Bars of 2020" article, the Bose Soundbar 700 won best-of-show for encompass sound. Presently here as the center segment in the Bose Smart Wireless 5.1 home theater framework, Bose does it once more. The Bose SB700 won since we turned it on and were immediately overwhelmed by a sound field that An) appeared to be a lot more extensive than some other 5.1 pre-bundled framework we tried, B) made discourse – even delicate or murmured exchange – completely clear, and C) was similarly compelling regardless of where we sat.
Each segment in this framework is important for Bose's new group of shrewd remote speakers. Start with this 5.1-channel framework, and spot a Bose Home Speaker 500 in the kitchen and the littler Soundbar 500 in your room for a multi-room sound understanding all through the house. What's more, with Amazon Alexa worked in, you can control everything with straightforward voice orders.
Features
Turn it up, and Bose's Bass Module 700 subwoofer will throw a pleasant left hook without contorting.
Given the Bose Lifestyle 650 won most attractive, we're giving "second place" to this framework. The excellent glass top and punctured fold over metal grille on the Soundbar 700 is a pleasant touch.
To mix in with any home's style, Bose offers this framework in white, as well.
This Package Includes: Bose Soundbar 700 | Bose Bass Module 700 | Bose Surround Wireless Speakers | Power lines | Optical link | HDMI Cable
Reg. Cost: $1,797.00

#3. The Best Surround Sound System for Small Rooms: SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 Package
SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 Package
Why it won
Throughout the most recent twenty years, SVS has developed into one of the most regarded brands in the business. At first known for their sternum-vibrating/room-shaking/grant winning subwoofers, the present new SVS frameworks can rival anybody – and the SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 home venue bundle is an incredible model. Its conservative and simpler to fit in a littler room however turn it up and blast: your little room turns into the Hollywood Bowl.

Also, on the off chance that you truly need to place yourself in a Gears of War or Call of Duty fight, sans earphones – and you would prefer not to spend a fortune to do it – the SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 Package is for you. #5. The Best Dolby Atmos Home Theater System: Klipsch 7.2.2 Reference Premiere Home Theater System with Marantz SR7013 9.2-Channel AV Receiver
Klipsch 7.2 System
Why it won
Two notable, top notch, sound pioneers: One known for dynamite, pull out all the stops or-return home sound and excellent cabinetry, the other for top tier enhancement and driving edge innovation. Between them, two legends – Saul Marantz and Paul Klipsch, more than 100 years experience, and each grant in the book. Welcome to the best encompass sound all things considered.
A couple of years back, the sound masters at Dolby made sense of an approach to settle on what some decision "3D encompass sound" by means of another innovation called Dolby Atmos. (Atmos, as in environment.) What Dolby Atmos truly does is make a layer of sound that not just floats over the crowd, it drifts in various territories over the crowd. Also, it does it so well, you can really pinpoint explicit sounds in explicit spots – noticeable all around. The net impact: Thrilling, invigorating, stunning – in any event, stunning now and again. ("Try not to stress kids, those monsters aren't genuine, it's only a film.")
In spite of the fact that most AV recipients today come Dolby Atmos-empowered, numerous shoppers never include Dolby Atmos speakers. (Abnormal. Similar to living on a boat and never purchasing sails.) So we intentionally concocted a marvelous, yet generally reasonable home venue that really conveys on all fronts: left, right, focus, sides, back, beneath (by method of the subwoofer) and now, with Dolby Atmos, noticeable all around above, as well.
One more thing: If you pick this home theater framework with the parts we prescribe – and you're going to turn it on just because – start with a greater than-life, blockbuster film. The new Jurassic Park, Incredibles 2, whatever. Blockbusters are designed by sound specialists to exploit stature channels, so you're ensured to get the all out impact: pterosaurs and ancient bugs flying around your parlor, jump bombarding the couch, and so forth. You'll know why this specific framework so effectively wins our "Best Dolby Atmos" class.
Features
Mood killer the TV, and this Klipsch/Marantz home theater arrangement conveys an intense, audiophile-commendable, music framework – one that asks for a quality turntable. Despite the fact that with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Airplay worked in, in addition to HEOS remote multi-room music streaming, you can play practically anything from anyplace by means of any brilliant gadget.
The two Klipsch RP-8060 floorstanding speakers are not just fresh out of the box new, they're higher on the pecking list than Klipsch's for quite some time proclaimed Reference II arrangement. Likewise valid for the RP-504C Center Channel Speaker, which at right around 3-feet wide and 34 pounds is the Serena Williams of focus speakers. read more

How to Setup Home Theatre Subwoofer With Ease Step?
Along these lines, you have at last dove in and bought a shiny new subwoofer to overhaul your sound framework. When your subwoofer is set up accurately, your subwoofer can shake your home blasting beats. However, setting up a subwoofer effectively is a dubious part. Regardless of whether you know about other sound frameworks and even subwoofers, it is consistently a smart thought to follow any headings you have and may even adhere to some guidance manual.
Then again, in the event that you are yet in the situation of buying a top notch modest subwoofer, you can investigate our far reaching audit on BIC F12 Subwoofer which is well known nowadays in the market for its moderate rates and delivering low bass frequencies.
Tumblr media
Situation and Connection of your Home Theater Subwoofer
Here's the manner by which to set it up effectively with the goal that you can take advantage of your sub.
Locate the Correct Position
When you have set up your home theater framework, the inquiry at that point emerges with regards to where to put the subwoofer. Right off the bat, locate the right situation for your subwoofer. The situation of the subwoofer influences how it plays and how it would sound from where you sit.
Placing the SVS SB 2000 subwoofer in a corner or close to a divider (at any rate 8-12 inches away) in a rectangular room is a smart thought as it will heighten the general bass level.
Arrangement the Connection
You have to interface it with your framework. It very well may be associated with A/V recipients through a-
Line-level association: This uses adjusted links or a lopsided RCA and associations are joined when a CD player or an amplifier is utilized.
Speaker level association: It utilizes speaker wires and interfaces simply like different speakers.
Commonly, the subwoofers require a solitary RCA or adjusted level association between the collector's low-frequency impacts (LFE) yield.
Designs
It is recommended that you should sidestep your subwoofer's interior bass administration framework for your recipient. This should be possible by connecting with the LPF sidestep switch or setting the hybrid to its maximum breaking point in light of the fact that the sifting done by the AV collector is a lot of all around requested in contrast with the subwoofer.
This guarantees the subwoofer won't be limited in light of better constriction of frequencies over what it was intended to deliver.
Adjusting the Subwoofer
Adjusting your subwoofer so it can mix with the remainder of your framework should be possible in two different ways-
Auto Setup: Follow the maker's manual on the most proficient method to align the subwoofer naturally.
Manual Calibration: It is essential to set fitting separations for each channel. Measure the separation of every speaker comparative with your listening position. Match the degree of your subwoofer with the remainder of your framework. Attempt to quantify the sound level at two areas and align the primary channels concerning your subwoofer inside a couple of decibels of one another.
Play Music!
The last advance is to tune in to your best subwoofer for music performance. Play some substantial bass tunes. In the event that you notice any drop in the bass, you have to make changes in your stage control. Play a similar track again and again while your companion makes the modifications. Stop when you have arrived at the settings which bring about the fullest sound.

Note
I dunno its frustrating because even after GG made the statement he did it ultimately did nothing. Most SB fans are as bad as ever. Having their leaders leave SM for two days isn't going to impact anything. A part of me thinks that if this didn't do it probably nothing will.
One statement after five years isn’t really likely to make a huge permanent difference. I was a little surprised it even had the impact it did, even if for only two days. Particularly when 99.9% of their ship requires twisting what actually happened in front of their eyes to say it didn’t happen.
If he continues to show her this kind of public support - unprompted by the WA fandom in the future, even - is it going to absolutely and for certain make 100% of them go away? No, of course not. I never expect that to happen and neither should anyone else - and it wouldn’t have happened if he’d spoken up 5 years ago. It might have been better and probably would have been. But it wouldn’t have gone away entirely, any more than the online hate towards Diop disappeared entirely when her cast stood up for her.
I frankly think some of these enjoy being angry and miserable about it because they can wrap themselves in a shroud of perceived victimhood while trying to make Candice feel worse about herself in the hopes it will make them feel better about themselves. I mean, think about how much time they dedicate each week to something they absolutely seem to DETEST. The entire fandom was never going to go away for good. If Caitlin had died in S1, some would still be here today. Illogically. Irrationally. Incomprehensibly. But they would.
But every time something like this chips away at their self-righteous certainty they will absolutely get their way, it likely does make some people move on. It’s the beginning of the end for others. And sometimes even the most extreme fans have a breaking point where they do move on.
Any time a show (or actor) has angered you enough that you swear you’re going to leave the show for good, even if you only leave for a couple days, well...you may come back but it’s not the same. I can attest at least to that. I once was so angered by a show I stopped watching and more or less left fandom for a while. And though I eventually came back, I never enjoyed the show as much after that as I had before. Another one or two of those and I would have left for good.
Because one way or another, this doesn’t bode well for them. And they can tell themselves they don’t care and it doesn’t mean anything, but they know it does or they wouldn’t be working so hard to explain to themselves why it doesn’t. Either GG meant what he said - in which case he’s not their ship captain fighting to it to happen behind the scenes like they hoped. And Iris is Barry’s endgame and they aren’t going to get their way. Or he didn’t and that means the people in charge of the show are “forcing” him to say that to promote and protect WA. And if that’s true, the odds of them ever getting SB aaaaare?
Right now, they’re telling themselves it doesn’t matter but if it KEEPS happening and he KEEPS showing support, and S6 starts and this new showrunner hasn’t magically decided to give them SB like they’re hoping he will...some of them will eventually realize that it just isn’t going to happen to them. And they’ll leave and find shows they actually enjoy. Maybe not the most fervently dedicated to spinning their own fiction. But some will realize they can’t keep fooling themselves.
I know the SB fandom is so often frustrating, and there are a few in particular that are real pieces of work. But if you look at the SB fandom over the years, it’s a LOT smaller than it was in terms of online activity at least. And if you think of some of the people who were particularly toxic about it in early seasons, some of them are no longer around.
Some SBs will be there arguing for SB to be endgame even if Caitlin is killed off next season and never mentioned by anyone on the show ever again. There are still shippers from SV fighting the fight and it’s been a decade. But others will leave, and every time one of them does, there’s a chance that’s one less asshole in Candice’s mentions.

If you’re a regular on the SWLing Post, you’ll certainly know our contributor, Robert Gulley.
Robert is a wonderful friend and one of the biggest ambassadors for radio I know. Robert has mentored a countless number of ham radio operators and radio listeners–his enthusiasm is infectious.
This time, Robert could really use our help.
His wife Jennifer has Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS)–a disease that has progressed to the point she needs 24/7 care. Finances are tight, so when a home equity loan taken out over 15 years ago recently ballooned, Robert and Jennifer have struggled to make these payments and stay afloat.
They’ve explored refinancing and even selling their home, but the numbers simply don’t work in their favor.
I, along with a number of Robert’s close friends, have encouraged him to start a GoFundMe campaign to try to raise some funds to pay down the home equity loan.
Robert isn’t the sort of guy that ever asks for help, indeed he’s always the one giving help. This is why I’m asking you to consider supporting his GoFundMe campaign if you have the means to do so. You can read more about his situation on the GoFundMe page.
Any amount will help as it will be dropped on the principle of their loan and thus shorten the term or even make a refinance possible.
Click here to support Robert’s GoFundMe campaign.
GoFundMe is a reputable organization to raise funds and they don’t take a large cut like some other platforms do, but if you would rather support Robert outside of GoFundMe (directly, by check for example) feel free to contact him.
Thank you!

PACIFIC (DXPEDITION) TOUR ALMOST DID NOT HAPPENED (Update). Heli, DD0VR,
(along with XYL Bigi, DE3BWR) informed OPDX on Monday that their Fiji
“DXpedition ends here.” Heli explains that after two visits to the Fiji
Customs Bureau, and having endless discussions, the couple was told that
they would have to pay three times 1540 Fijian dollars (700 USDs) for
their transmitters & amp in order to take their equipment into the three
islands they planned to operate from (Fiji, Samoa and Tonga). So Heli/
DD0VR and XYL Bigi/DE3BWR then decided to make their trip a “normal
holiday” and pick-up their equipment on the way back to Germany. At
this point, they were very disappointed. However, on Wednesday, thanks
from some help by Tevita Navila (Telecommunications Authority of Fiji),
Tony/3D2AG and Bernie/W3UR of The Daily DX, Heli was able to retrieve
his equipment and was able to be active as 3D2VR from Fiji for a few days.
By the time you read this, Heli (along with his XYL) will be heading
to Samoa and should be active as 5W0VR from Samoa sometime between Sep-
tember 9-16th. Activity will be on various HF bands and modes. QSL via
DD0VR. Next stop will be Tonga, Heli will be signing as A35JY between
September 16-21st.
PJ4, BONAIRE (Reminder). Randy, K5SL, should now be active as PJ4/K5SL
from Bonaire (SA-006) until September 14th. Activity will be on 40/30/
20/17 meters using mainly CW, but possibly some 17 meters SSB. QSL via
his home callsign.

“T33T #Banaba has been postponed to next year. I will do my best to 3Y0I.
I think the details will be announced around October.”
S79GJ SEYCHELLES DXPEDITION (Update). Lance, W7GJ, will be active as S79GJ
from La Digue Island (AF-024, WW Loc. LI75vp), Seychelles, between September
20th and October 5th. Lance informs OPDX this past week of the following:
“All the equipment has been set up and checked and then packed up to go
on the plane with me to S79. This is primarily a 6m EME DXpedition, but
I have packed a 20m dipole and may also get on 20m FT8 during the first
few days of October. Full details are on my website:
http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/Seychelles%202019.htm
Although the CP1GJ 6m EME DXpedition in May was a big success, I am
especially excited about S79GJ because nobody from NA has ever contacted
S79 before on 6m. This is especially well suited to NA horizon-only
stations during their moonrise…. GL and VY 73, Lance”

That’s exactly what I thought. Do you know anyone who works 12+ hours a day and then drives home in the dark, only to get up a few hours later? That’s how KJ apa got into that accident. And the crew DEFINITELY should be driven home, they get just as little sleep! Hollywood treats its people like crap.
No argument from me!
Fun fact: Tom Welling dealt with a similar driver situation on Smallville. Shows don’t usually provide drivers to the actors bc of some SAG union thing where if 1 gets a driver then ALL of the main cast members must be provided one. So the rest of the Smallville cast relinquished their rights to a driver so that Tom could have one & it’s likely the Flash cast did the same for Grant.
Aww, that’s really sweet of the cast. And it is hard on the actors (and crew).
What do u think of this caity’s situation? personally i think she was joking but she shouldn’t have said it but i still like her just like ppl still like grant/keiy after they said some problematic things in the past ppl need to learn to not hold celebs to such high standards.
I definitely don’t think she should have used the slur when she’s not part of the community and has no idea who might be upset by its use or not. It may be something she says in her private life, joking with Maisie or other LGBT friends who are fine with it, but that doesn’t translate on a public platform like this.
I hope she apologizes, but I think it’s up to the individual fan to decide how they feel about it. You can still like and support her, or you can withdraw said support.
Oh yay! thank you for your response about the Magicians :) I look forward to the podcast :)
Hope you like it!
@eboniangelvibez said:
I’m glad to see that I wasn’t the only one that wasn’t blown away by The Magicians finale. It’s a great show. I loved the season overall, but I found the finale somewhat underwhelming. I’m curious to see what S4 brings.
I’m very curious as well. Also crossing my fingers we get our Penny back.
Does anyone else get a bit jealous when they see SA & EBR at a con doing a panel together & photo op together and wishing that GG & CP would do the same. I mean four seasons & not even a photo shoot, WHY?
I know plenty of people are jealous, but I’m not one of them. Yes, it would be nice if Candice and Grant did more cons together and took pics together with fans etc. But I will happily take my consolation prize of them giving it their all in their scenes, which are written in such a way that you know the show believes in them.
You’ve pointed out specifically why I’m uneasy sometimes about liking Caitlin still. I still like her and KF but DP as a person? Not a fan. It’s the whole thing of separating the person from the art I guess.
Yeah, I get you. It’s hard to decide what to do sometimes. You don’t really need to feel guilty, though, it’s not like you’re actively supporting her by not disliking her character.
now that AJK has left, is there any chance that DP will follow him? she never auditioned and he hired her as a personal favour. KF/CS isn’t part of TF canon & before DP cashed in on her White-Affirmative Action, the role was supposed to go to an older woman who would be an ally of Wellsboard. What do you think? Exit Killer Frost?
I do not think AJK was the sole thread keeping DP on the show, and I’m sure the writers as a whole are attached to her as a person regardless of their lack of passion for her character. So if she goes, I think it’ll be her decision, and given how cheery she always is about the show there’s no way to gauge if she’s planning her exit.
To those wondering, no. DP didn’t audition to be CS. AJK admitted this as he said he had to let go of an actress that was the “perfect” CS for DP. SV also didn’t audition to be Patty. CP was the only one that auditioned to be Iris West-Allen.
I actually had to re-listen to the interview Kevin did with him to verify this, because I thought something might have been accidentally taken out of context. AJK said, “She came in to read, and I was like ‘I don’t really see Danielle as Caitlin… [Originally] a Maria Bello type… tsk tsk relationship with Cisco… possibly even a love interest for Wells.” But they changed the character to have Danielle. Granted, AJK and Greg both knew her from Eli Stone, which they worked on together, so that’s probably why they wanted to change the role for her. But she did audition first.
BTW, immediately after that, AJK compared seeing Danielle in her KF outfit to “seeing your sister dressed slutty for Halloween.” How did he get away with being so gross for so long?
I have a theory on why candice unfollowed danielle: what if dp is getting paid more than cp even tho cp is 2nd billed and cp approached her about changing this so they can earn the same amount (since we know how cp feels about that) but dp said no and that’s why when cp spoke about her friendship with caity it made it seem like dp didn’t have her back at work unlike the other cw ladies. thoughts?
We don’t know how much either of them makes, but it is possible. I definitely expect that it had something to do with not feeling supported on set by her costar.
Not to drag this out, lol, but I disagree that DP didn’t know what she was doing. Back before the show even aired, she liked a tweet from SB fan claiming that the fandom already liked Caitlin for Barry better than Iris. I wish I could send screenshots via anon, but the tweet was explicitly pitting Iris and Caitlin against each other. Since she was liking stuff like that from the beginning, I don’t buy that she genuinely didn’t know what she was contributing to.
I remember that tweet, but that’s generic love triangle stuff and she obviously wanted a love triangle. She was probably hoping she’d take off like EBR did, but at that time she didn’t necessarily know EBR’s take-off would lead to KC (who is her friend) being killed off lol. And what I actually meant was she may not have realized at the time that the reason she even had a shot was racism lol. But I agree with you for sure that she was trying to hype up a ship that didn’t exist in the hopes that it would leverage her a better role.

The Best High-Performance Subwoofers
Subwoofer is designed to amplify the sound of bass & helps in the production of good quality voice. The subwoofer’s function is to add extra bass to the agent and impart a pleasing effect to the listener’s ears. Also, the subwoofer adds maximum volume & this amplified volume are transported with finesse with the help of an existing set of speakers. Now, let us look at the top subwoofers as per the report attained after thorough testing of these gadgets.
Tumblr media
 Rogersound Labs Speedwoofer 10S
To add realism to the voice so that the listener enjoys the music’s full effect, the bass is given a special priority as it forms the music’s main component. Thus, to make the listeners tap their feet to the music, the subwoofer’s role comes in as it delivers the music in a refined & upgraded format. Generally, a good subwoofer forms an integral part of the home audio system. The Rogersound Labs Speedwoofer 10S is the best pick as per our research & according to the listening tests, the experts measured its performance as excellent for a model at this price range.
This subwoofer is a very efficient machine, and it has a dimension of 10S 10-inch, and it produces excellent sound for music and movies. The Speedwoofer 10S delivers clear & precise sound according to the hundreds of blind listening tests conducted by the expert team of professionals. It has an intense bass output compared to the most financially favorable subwoofers we've used. Still, at 16 by 15 by 16¾ inches (HWD), it’s pretty compact enough to fit into the rooms, and we can adjust it even beneath some end tables. As far as selling is concerned, we can purchase it only directly through Rogersound Labs’ website.
 Polk Audio HTS 10
Although the Polk Audio HTS 10 was the cheapest subwoofer we examined for this guide, the authorities placed it second in the blind listening tests we conducted with utmost accuracy & precision. Now, its deep-bass productivity was only just half as loud as compared to that of the Speedwoofer 10S. As per our proficient team’s conclusions, this 10-inch subwoofer voice output is highly pleasing to the ears; the full sound that it produces makes it suitable for music and fantastic for leisures like a home theater. Since it’s sufficiently compact at 16⅝ by 15⅛ by 16⅛ inches (HWD), its shape has been given a stylish design compared to most other subwoofers. Further, the HTS 10 can be availed by many more retailers than Speedwoofer 10S.
 HSU Research VTF-2 MK5
As far as home theater lovers and audiophiles are concerned, the 12-inch Hsu Research VTF-2 MK5 subwoofer is just like a dream come true. However, it may not be the ideal choice for the people who don’t like heavy objects, as it’s bulky, but a 15-by-21-by-22-inch (HWD) body and a design resembling that of a black box generally adhere to the subwoofer stereotypes. According to the results of our tests & after calculating the average of several testing rounds, the sound output of the VTF-2 MK5 was 50 percent louder than the entire measurement range of the Speedwoofer 10S, and our experts were in awe of its ability to shake the home with its voice output. Thus, we can safely state that any movie or music fan will appreciate the inclusion of tuning modes that can lead to optimization of this subwoofer’s sound to his/her liking. Like the Speedwoofer 10S, this model is also sold with the help of the manufacturer’s website.
 SVS SB-1000
The SVS SB-1000 subwoofer is an ideal choice for people who live in tiny homes or who hold reluctance in cleaning their living room floor. Measuring 13½ by 13 by 14⅝ inches (HWD), it has enough compatibility to be kept under many end tables. Still, this 12-inch subwoofer generally surpasses the performance of some more giant subs available in the market. However, its cost is more than the Rogersound hero, and it doesn’t deliver as much of the deficient levels of bass. Its punchy & well-defined sound makes it a better option for listening to music rather than watching action movies, but it’ll surely do a good job with anything you play through it.
Besides the models mentioned above, several other models of subwoofers rank high on the scale of adaptability & performance. These subwoofers are discussed below-
Monoprice Monolith M10-S: One expert placed this sub first due to its midbass tones, but the others mentioned that its lower techniques weren’t well organized and didn’t blend well with the other devices.
Paradigm Defiance X10: This sub is very much similar in multiple ways to the MartinLogan Dynamo 600X, but its final output was a few decibels less, and it’s a bit on the expensive side also.
PSB SubSeries 250: Our professionals have loved this compact sub’s description in the midbass, and the way it has mixed smoothly with the other speakers is commendable, but it’s costly, and its low-bass output is significantly less. It would be maximum for a small, high-quality audiophile music system.
Q Acoustics Q B12: The Q B12 is very good for the ears, but it can’t come to terms with the low-frequency output of the smaller, less costly Rogersound Speedwoofer 10S.
Q Acoustics 3060S: This slim sub is exceptionally unique, it is easy to hide and is pretty cost-effective, but we discovered that its low-bass output is meager.
REL HT/1205: We had estimated to attain a sample of the HT/1205, one of REL’s new series of home theater subwoofers, but the company went into loss, stating that it always has someone established in the subwoofers in the reviewer’s house and that it couldn’t leave anyone to make the trip to Los Angeles.
REL T/5i: Ditto for this subwoofer is supported by audiophile as it has an unusually long input panel that helps in the mixing of speaker-level and line-level signals.
SVS PB-1000: This sub offered a very effective & measurable low-frequency output for a cost model, but our panelists thought that its sound was not as clear and precise as the previous model.

FFN is being left to die on the vine and that...saddens me.
I think we all know it. Even those of us (like me) who honestly prefer FFN to Ao3 or any of its other alternatives...we can't deny it.
The owners of the site have rather obviously decided that instead of maintaining and updating the site as required, they're going to keep tightening the screws and squeezing every last bit of profitability out of the site before discarding it once it's too decrepit and battered to limp on any further.
I look to the future and all I can wonder is how much longer the site can limp on, maybe five years? Perhaps a decade if the stars align? I don't know.
And look, I understand that some of you see it as a relic, will be happy to see it die. I've seen those sentiments expressed often enough. Honestly, I'm happy for you. I'm happy that you've found your place on Ao3, or Wattpad, or wherever, and I wish I could do the same. Maybe I'm just out of touch or something of a relic myself, but no matter how many times I try, no matter how I set my filters...Ao3 and others just...don't have what I'm looking for. Don't get me wrong, I've found some good fics just...nowhere near enough to make the time spent and frustration felt worth it. I guess I'll still have SB and SV when FFN finally dies, but even if they have some great fics and I love the community...the volume, search features, and variety are lacking.
I think the thing that saddens me the most about the situation is that it was 100% avoidable. Hell if the powers that be actually cared about FFN as anything other than a cash cow I think FFN could be great. A graphics modernization here or there, actually putting the work in to overhaul the programming so it wasn't an easily exploitable mass of code, actual effective moderation of both user content and comments...FFN could be great, while still being itself.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the site will change hands or the current owners will pull their heads out of their asses and there will be a miraculous turn around, but I doubt it.
It seems to me that FFN is alread dead and all that's left is for it's corpse to stop twitching

Actually, i figure instead of making a separate posts ill just put all my thoughts here
wrote a whole post and decided to restructure it so here we go:
finished Collagen a shardswap between taylor and marquis which was interesting it has some rough points but overall i think its very interesting
it Definitely gets bookmarked and insane unique points for the whole alabaster white rose dorian isidis murder gore pit scene like wow that was crazy and fun and awesome and so tonally dissonant yet fit completely right in with the story i fucking loved that and ive never seen anything like that before i need more cracky gore moments like that
and heres the og post i just put it at the bottom since its abt the ending and it didnt make sense to not put my thoughts in chronological order:
was reading Collagen today because i thought the premise was interesting and i heard the ending was bittersweet so i had a vague feeling of dread the whole time but i finished it and i was like awwww this is sweet bittersweet my ass i love it
However
im still not used to the mechanics of SB and SV websites since my roots are ffnet and later ao3 so i only remember there is a sidestory/omake(/i think there was a tab labled apocrypha once? idek what that means lmao) tab like half the time and i noticed it and i was like fuck yeah more amy/taylor time and then i proceeded to get my heart ripped out, stomped on, and crushed into pulp like alabaster and dorian when they were making the murder pit for isidis to work with
i didnt expect to end up crying after reading this fic man
"bittersweet my ass" my ass im in so much pain
basically tldr; i got played, i fucked around and found out

Shohei Ohtani’s Value Has No Precedent
The derby for Japanese baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani has nearly reached its long-awaited conclusion, after the pitching-and-hitting phenom narrowed his list of preferred teams down to seven. (Notably, the list doesn’t include either the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox — Ohtani is reportedly leaning toward smaller-market and/or West Coast clubs.) If MLB’s best two-way player since Babe Ruth1 is on his way, we’ll know soon which uniform he’ll wear while revolutionizing the game.
On the field, scouts are sold on Ohtani’s potential (if not his durability) as a top pitcher, as well as his speed and raw power as a hitter. And the statistical projections think he’ll be very good no matter what position he plays. According to the ZiPS system, developed by ESPN’s Dan Szymborski, both Ohtani’s ERA and his on-base-plus-slugging projections figure to be about 20 percent better than league average2 over his next five seasons in the big leagues. For context’s sake, only 58 hitters and 79 pitchers met either of those qualifications over the preceding five seasons. Ohtani has the potential to hit both benchmarks.
Of course, there’s also a lot of uncertainty around Ohtani’s projection to the American game, as is always the case with players whose backgrounds are in the different flavor of baseball being played in Japan. To get a sense for which other players from Japan had numbers similar to Ohtani’s, I looked at Clay Davenport’s translated Japanese-league statistics for native-born players with at least 700 MLB plate appearances or 200 innings pitched. (Specifically, I used the peak-adjusted version of Davenport’s stats, which accounts for a player’s age and tries to peg how good he’ll be in his prime.)3 I then ran Bill James’s Similarity Scores for each set of statistics — after converting them all to a per-season format — to give us the pitchers and hitters whose body of work most resembled Ohtani’s before arriving in America.

Ohtani’s pitching numbers bore a strong resemblance to those of Yu Darvish and Masahiro Tanaka, two of the most highly touted — and successful — Japanese imports of the past decade. Of course, they might also represent the best case scenarios for how Ohtani’s career will play out on the mound; for example, Daisuke Matsuzaka’s track record was only slightly more dissimilar, and he ended up being pretty average over his time in MLB. And the matter of Ohtani’s durability can’t be dismissed — these numbers are projected to a full season of work, but Ohtani never pitched more than 160⅔ innings in a season in Japan, and he was limited to 25⅓ innings in 2017 because of various injuries. However, my old colleague Ben Lindbergh has shown that Japanese pitchers tend to age better (and hold onto more of their value) than comparable MLB pitchers, reputation be damned. And in general, the pitchers on the list above that graded as more similar to Ohtani ended up having the better major-league careers. Statistically speaking, there’s little to quibble with in Ohtani’s pitching résumé.

As for Ohtani’s batting stats, only two hitters — fellow outfielders Hideki Matsui and Kosuke Fukudome — stand out as being highly similar to their younger counterpart, and they also represent two potentially divergent paths for Ohtani’s performance at the plate. After a 10-year MLB career spent mostly with the Yankees, Matsui ended up being the greatest Japanese power hitter ever to play in the U.S. (and the second-best position player, behind future Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki). Ohtani’s power stats in Japan were every bit as impressive as Matsui’s were before he arrived stateside; in terms of translated stats, the former has the latter beat on home runs and doubles per 600 plate appearances, in addition to slugging percentage and OPS. But it’s important to note that Fukudome’s numbers weren’t too far behind, and his MLB career is largely viewed as a disappointment.
It’s also worth pointing out that few hitters who profile as powerfully as Ohtani have even tried to make the leap from Japan to the major leagues. Japanese position players have more frequently been cast from a similar mold as Ichiro, whose game was based around speed and hitting for average, not blasting monster home runs. (At least, not outside of batting practice.) So on the batting side, Ohtani will be exploring territory still somewhat uncharted by past Japanese prospects — a matter made even more complicated by scouts’ assessments that his swing needs shortening and concerns that he won’t be able to make the proper adjustments unless he gets a lot of reps against MLB-caliber pitching.
But even if he ends up being more like a mashup of Matsuzaka and Fukudome than Darvish and Matsui, Ohtani would still have plenty of value because of the unique dual role he could fill. A league-average pitcher in 150 innings plus an average hitter with 100 plate appearances would be worth 1.8 wins above replacement (1.5 with his arm and 0.3 with his bat).4 Those stats alone would fetch nearly $20 million on the free agent market — and that’s without even considering the ways in which Ohtani might “break” the very framework of WAR itself.
Systems like WAR are designed to judge the value of pitchers’ batting relative to other pitchers, so the total offensive WAR for pitchers in a given season adds up to about zero. (Because pitchers tend to be horrible hitters, this essentially means the per-inning position adjustment for pitchers is astronomical compared even with that of catchers, the nonpitching position that gets the biggest positional boost.) If he spends a decent chunk of time in the field and/or proves to be a solid hitter, Ohtani could force the curators of WAR at Baseball-Reference.com and FanGraphs to do some mathematical gymnastics, weighting his position adjustment and offensive production for the plate appearances he gets at pitcher and in the field. Or maybe they’ll just calculate two separate versions of batting WAR for Ohtani — one that treats him like a pitcher and another that considers him a position player. Either way, WAR wasn’t designed with a player like Ohtani in mind.
There’s also the added benefit of Ohtani’s bat off the bench as a pinch-hitter or a designated hitter on days he isn’t starting, which would give his team extra roster flexibility. This was previously discussed when considering the ways in which FiveThirtyEight favorite Ben Zobrist frees up roster space by playing a bunch of different positions; when studying the matter, Baseball Prospectus’s Russell Carleton found that Zobrist’s versatility probably earned his then-team, the Tampa Bay Rays, a couple of extra runs per year. The value of converting a pitcher’s roster spot into a functional hitter/position-player on some of his off-days is probably even greater, and it might play into the decision of which league Ohtani ultimately ends up joining.
In the American League, Ohtani would presumably play DH to save the wear and tear on his body in between starts, though the intrinsic value of a DH is the lowest of any position (therefore raising the bar for his hitting production), and he wouldn’t get in any extra trips to the plate on days he was pitching. In the National League, Ohtani could hit for himself during starts, make better use of his above-average fielding skills on off-days and need less impressive hitting stats to produce value. (Plus, if he ever came out of the bullpen, he could even be the rare reliever who stays in the game when his lineup slot comes up.) For those reasons, it does seem like the NL would offer more opportunities for Ohtani’s unique repertoire of skills to add value.
But that’s all speculation at this point. The truth is, the MLB hasn’t seen a two-way player like this since the days of Wes Ferrell and Red Ruffing, each of whom played most of their careers before World War II. Baseball has gotten so specialized that it’s been assumed that no pitcher — not even the Carlos Zambranos, Mike Hamptons or Madison Bumgarners of the world — would ever be a viable regular hitter again. But Ohtani could prove all that wrong if his translated numbers, well, translate. No matter where he ends up signing, it’s going to be ridiculously entertaining to watch it all play out.
