Cuirass and Cleaning

Jade found the catch beneath the collar of the Kymerian Cuirass, somewhere only she would have thought to look given the intimate closeness required to look. Luckily, they had just returned to the edge of the Wildwood and the closeness meant that when Kit collapsed, Jade was already right there to catch her. One moment, the princess had been wiggling her eyebrows suggestively, then she was limp in Jade's arms. It was like light had suddenly left her eyes and Jade was scooping the exhausted young woman up into her arms.

Halfway to the river, Jade had informed the others she would wash the layer of grime left behind off Kit in privacy when the Shield of the Empress began to wake up. She grumbled, her nose brushing against the familiar smell and texture of Jade's leather armor. She recognized that as safety and home. Kit’s eyes stayed closed. She opened them when she felt Jade set her down.

She was met with the sight of her knight peeling off her own armor, down to the grimy breastband and undershorts, before Jade returned to Kit and pulled the sweat-saturated tunic off of her, followed by her breeches, boots, and socks. Kit allowed it wordlessly, enjoying the feel of Jade’s hands on her exhausted body without the layer of scaled metal between them.

“You’re awake, love? How are you? How are you feeling?” Jade asked, tender hand brushing her cheek reverently, drawing Kit’s attention.

“Tired. So tired, also gay. You’re in your underwear.” Kit mumbled, her mouth not wanting to move in conjunction with her words.

“So are you, Princess. Will it be okay for me to wash you off in the river?” Jade asked, secretly relieved that she was left in a position where she had to ask for permission

“Jade, of course. You’re my… my knight.” Kit’s head lolled as she tried to hold her neck up of her own accord. “Anything requiring any muscle mass of mine might require more help of yours than usual.” Kit said after giving up any attempt at righting herself.

Jade smiled softly and affectionately, and with barely even a heavy exhale, lifted Kit off of the mossy bank adjacent to the river. Skin touched skin, both bodies slightly warmer than they ought to have been. The coldness of the water sent chills through the both of them as Jade carried Kit into the river. She kept the girl close to her chest, watching as what energy Kit had left was poured into clenching immediately against the sensation.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Jade said softly, almost inaudibly as she clutched Kit closely to her chest. She cupped water in her free hand and carried it to douse the mud caked at Kit’s temple and then worked her way down the princess’ body, getting her as clean as possible using only the one hand as the other held Kit to Jade’s body. 

Kit sighed in relief as each muscle relaxed beneath Jade’s touch, coming clean but also being released of its tension as it was reminded of its safety. Once she had been washed in her majority, she felt Jade turn her around and Kit’s chin hooked over her shoulder to hold her in place as Jade washed her back.

“Does that feel better?” Jade asked, doing her best to be as respectful of Kit as possible while also getting her as clean and clear of the nastiness that accumulated at the same time.

“Yeah, thanks Jade, sorry about this.” Kit said on a soft exhale, clearly a little embarrassed as energy began to return and some semblance of strength returned to her muscles.

“Don’t be. I enjoy taking care of you, especially when you’re incapacitated after one of the hardest and best fights I’ve ever seen you put up. I know the Cuirass caused this and that you didn’t mean for or know that it would happen. I’ve got you, Kit. I’ve always got you.” Jade reassured her. She had stopped cleaning Kit and they were just holding one another now, exhausted as the fear finally seeped away, and relief creeped in. They just enjoyed each other and the closeness and the privacy. “I’m so proud of you, Kit.”

Kit slung her arms around Jade’s shoulders as they finally felt usable again. “I was scared, Jade.”

“I know.” Jade replied into the crook of Kit’s neck. “You were so brave and beautiful.”

“Yeah, you were too.” Kit’s voice was hoarse with emotion. “Thank you for being there for me… protecting me when I didn’t know I needed it.”

“Always, love. Always.” Jade’s voice matched hers.

My thoughts on Satan's new card story. Contains some spoilers

TLDR: people are making it out to be worse than it is bc it's happening to one of the "good guys." Also are complaining about the very nature of the game

Satan being touched by "Gabriel" and lower angels. Nothing that hasn't already been done to the angels on Christmas. Touched his dick? Gabriel and the other Seraphs all received much more invasive treatment, what with the sounding rods and tails. Plus MC tongued Gabe's asshole before she stuck his tail in but whatever, right? Satan had it way worse (/sarcastic)

Edit 2: ok, NOW I've read the whole story and my point still stands

I don't have the card myself, but went looking for screenshots and summaries (all of which were complaining about the story content) and I didn't see anything worse than what happened in the angels' Christmas cards. And I don't remember seeing these complaints about those cards, despite them also having elements of sexual assault. I'll be making comparisons mainly to Gabriel's story since that's the one I remember most clearly.

The psychological impact on Satan due to being touched and put on display to an audience. Both Satan and the angels were subjected to being assaulted and made into a spectacle in enemy territory, but there is a difference in lasting psychological impact. By the end of his story, Satan finds out that it was just MC the whole time and calms down, accepting all that's happenedsimply bc it was MC. Plus lust is an accepted part of being a devil, it's not a taboo like it is to an angel. Gabriel, on the other hand, is violated in many different ways and receives no such comfort. By the end of his time in that tavern, he's covered in cum and spit, his clothes are torn, there's money shoved into the rips in his clothes, and he now has to come to terms with the fact that he has been exposed and used as a sexual object by many different demons, all of whom he hates, and has to reconcile this with his identity as an angel.

As I said, nothing that hasn't already been done, and I didn't see any such outrage back then. In fact, this is tamer than what we've seen before.

Not to mention, all of this is the name of the game. If you've played for any decent amount of time, you'd know the scenes, sexual or not, can get very intense and extreme. That's just the way the game is. To complain about said intensity, especially when you consider the fact that they are near-immortal beings and are literally in Hell, is ridiculous.

By all means, complain about the writing quality. I also think Satan's reason for coming to Heaven was weak, and that it was strange for him not to pick up on the fact that he was dealing with MC. But the subject matter is not the issue here. There's simply a double standard at play

I love the juxtaposition between "Deku can't eat glow stick liquid for his own safety" and your art depicting Shouto eating cleaning supplies. SOMEBODY has a favorite.

Shouto did that and it was out of my control and then he got his stomach pumped !! For deku, it was a theoretical question of what would happen if we were to eat glow sticks! I would have stopped shouto too if I could and given him orange juice instead !!

AAHHH I just finished watching Doctor Who S2 and the following special and I'm obsessed 😭 I wish I had watched this show sooner, it's wonderful!! we are loving it and we are going to watch it all 🥰

imagine you were mauled by a bear.

you were mauled and it was awful. it left scars on you that may never fully and completely heal. maybe it nearly killed you. bears are now a trigger for you. full on panic at the sight of a bear.

now imagine some people in your town enjoy dressing up as bears. they put on homemade costumes for fun and occasionally meet up. most people are just there to play dress-up with other folks who enjoy wearing bear costumes, but maybe a few of them also play pretend with each other. nobody gets hurt-- they aren't real bears, and they wouldn't want to be! it's just fun to play pretend.

but you were mauled by a bear, and one day you're out walking, and you see some of these people on the other side of the road, and you freak out. most of the costumes aren't even very realistic, but you start screaming at them anyway, throwing rocks, grabbing other people and pointing, trying to get them to throw rocks too, because what the fuck? what the hell? what kind of sick freak pretends to be a bear? don't they know bears are dangerous? and what if there's a real bear in one of those costumes! or what if they're dressing up as bears because they want to maul people! throw rocks! harass! throwing rocks at people in bear costumes is good and righteous! you were mauled by an actual real bear and this is all definitely a reaction to an actual real threat and not at all a trauma response!

meanwhile, the people who enjoy dressing up as bears are trying to explain it's just for fun. they just enjoy playing dress-up. even those who do enjoy pretending, are only pretending. it's just acting. and look-- Ted over there was mauled, too! he likes dressing up as a bear because it gives him a situation he controls. but nobody is trying to actually be bears. that would be fucking deranged.

but it doesn't matter. you were mauled by a bear, and people in bear costumes feel the same to you as bears. it doesn't matter why they dress up, they OBVIOUSLY deserve to be attacked like bears. and anyone who disagrees with you must also be a bear, because omg don't they understand bears are dangerous and people in bear costumes are basically the same as bears!!!

if you react to works of fiction the same way you react to harm done to a real live human being, you are failing to recognize that human beings are separate from works of fiction. whether you're experiencing a trauma response and can't make the distinction, or you were told this was the best way to support people who are traumatized, i don't know, but the result is the same. you need to understand that people are not the stories they enjoy. stop throwing rocks at people in costumes.

Louis' "You're boring!" Could mean so many things, but I think what's most apparent about that line is that Armand takes no initiative just for himself. He's not really anybody, because he never goes out and finds himself or gets attached to anyone but Louis. Without Louis as his guide he's literally just sitting on a couch picking lint! That's the thing.

He orbits constantly around what would make Louis happy, and never really fully going what would make me happy? Ultimately that drive to please Louis is what drives him to torturing Daniel, not so much that he'd care to just do it. Ultimately, not giving proper care to Louis is just a way to make sure Louis knows he has to orbit around him as well, with shoving Lestat onto him just that other nail on the coffin. So, even if he fails to figure out how to make Louis happy with him, he still knows what Armand is good for, and better than.

That dependency is what drives Armand's abuse. It really just comes down to that. Armand doesn't even realize how suffocated he is by his own dependency. This is just how life is to him. (It shouldn't be lost either that dependency is a theme considering this episode also deals with addiction).

Daniel's fascinating because he's just so driven to be somebody. He's largely independent, he seeks things because he wants them. It's his drug to poke and prod at all the things that he shouldn't. Daniel's exciting because he lets Louis in to something different, lets him in to all this potential in another person that he can also do the same with for himself. It's a real connection. A two way street. It's easy to tell how Armand can be smothering then because he's never introducing him to anything really new, and most the ways both of them connect are all painful and traumatic. It's never just fun because there's always that layer of that pain. Fun died with Claudia.

50 years on they've gotten to a lot better place, both of them, but it's still that same shit. No seriously, "How is this any different from last time, Louis?"

Well... Because Armand's going to be, at the very least, making one [1] decision only for himself - and that's to hold power over Daniel's life. Fucking sick foreshadowing.

They aren't driving each other to the brink anymore but "The vampire is bored" STILL. Maybe it's even worse, despite being in better places, because Louis' sort of just been defeated by it. (I mean, can he even really leave this either?). He's accepting the dependancy cause he kind of has to. He'd literally ended up letting all the enjoyment be up where he can't reach [The book shelves]. Armand so desperately wants Louis happiness but what really ends up happening is that Louis ends up having to give Armand all his own. He's got no one or anything else to get it from. But like an iPad and an over the top eating ritual. Two extremes of what's just more lint picking.

This whole relationship is one I find just tragic inside and out. You have to just pity it, really. There's ways in which you can find yourself feeling bad for both of them. But you can only really be mad at Armand for any of it. Armand, who isn't even 'free' in any sense, having so little concept of his own independence, but is at the same time so controlling over other's. It's a tragic cycle. It's an infuriating one.

Louis at least has the mind to know when enough is enough. If just needing that extra push to get there. Armand's too scared of it being over to even try.

I joke a lot about liking things out of spite but like. Speaking as a pretty big contrarian you can't actually do this in earnest before shriveling up and dying inside. Spite is a great motivator to check out things that seem unfairly maligned, but sometimes you'll find you still don't like it (or, conversely, that people you cannot stand still like the same things you do). Once you start letting spite actually guide you and dictate what you want instead of your own personality (which, by doing this, you are slowly dissolving into a vat of bile), you will be miserable in every sense of the word. They call it cutting off your nose to spite your face for a reason.

Magneto became one of my favorite characters of X-Men 97, everything about is him is just incredible. His VA's performance, the awesomely terrifying display of his powers and the absolutely brilliant theme by The Newton Brothers.

The writers have done a great job capturing his complexity and tragic motivations making his actions pretty justifiable.

Every time he appears, he basically steals the show and the audience's attention and it's amazing! From where he talks to the UN in episode 2, to him, Rogue and Gambit fighting Master Mold and the sentinels in episode 5, to every chilling monologue by him in the series.

Not only he's one of the best omega level mutants, He's also an top-tier character, I can't wait for more of him in season 2.
