SHIPPING INFO // ANSWER THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR MUSES SO PEOPLE KNOW HOW SHIPPING WORKS ON YOUR BLOG.
tagged by: @countlessrealities // tagging: @imjustanauthor, @multipleoccupancy
WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER(S)?
In regards to ships I’m currently writing:
Fish Lecter/Monet as written by @imprvdente and Abel Gideon because these two truly give me full brain rot in every single universe they collide in. The different dynamics they have in each verse while still being so damned perfect for eachother, I simply can’t.
Crowley as written by @collidingxworlds and Aziraphale, because Scotty has such a unique and detailed take on that silly demon that smashes every other version out of the water, quite frankly, and my Aziraphale is completely smitten with him and him alone.
I’m a very very selective shipper so I truly adore all the ships I’m currently writing and developing, but these two in particular are very much ride or die for me.
Kinda generically I’d say Will Graham & Hannibal Lecter, Gillian Foster & Cal Lightman, Effie Trinkett & Haymitch Abernathy, Peeta Mellark & Katniss Everdeen, Morticia & Gomez Addams. I’m lucky enough to be exploring some of these with Scotty and Chloe currently!
HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?
I’m relatively chill with age gaps, though I think if there’s gonna be one, I’d rather the youngest muse was 25-30 at minimum. As long as there’s no serious power imbalance, I think we’re pretty much good?
HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NSFW?
As soon as we reach the point of clothes coming off and everyone getting a little too excited for public display, that’s when a fade to black rolls in. I do find it amusing to play Fade To Black chicken and see how far a scene can be pushed before it goes under the veil, but I’d never write anything explicit on the dash. And writing actual NSFW content is something I left behind many many years ago. I actually find it more enjoyable to rile the muses up and join them again later.
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?
Very much so, yes. I’ve had some pretty disappointing experiences in the past which has led to that. And I guess I really struggle at times because I hate disappointing other people in regards to ships, I know what that feels like, so if I’m unsure I can tend to shy away or turn down ships. Because I don’t want to agree to something which fizzles out for me and leaves the other person hanging, especially if they were getting really invested (which also makes me wary of suggesting ships myself too! And this is one reason I don’t just ship at the drop of a hat).
Which is a pain because I’d enjoy more ships, tbh, but I have to feel really comfortable with the mun and have a very particular vibe with their muse and be able to see/feel a vibe between that muse and mine. I also write a lot of flirtatious muses, such is my curse, because flirtation doesn’t mean a ship is gonna happen but a lot of people think it does. And I need chemistry across the board. I need muses who have That Something and muns I’ve got a really good rapport with. It’s essential.
Once I’m in the right ship though I tend to be extremely loyal to it and often find it very difficult to imagine my muse shipped with any other! Some muses have multiple ships but that’s a pretty rare thing for me tbh.
But TLDR: Yes. Very selective.
WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?
I don’t know how to answer this really with multiple muses lol. I think it could be fun to explore a poly ship one day but alas, with my weird shipping hang ups I don’t know if I’d get there. That’s something I’ll have to work on to get more generally chill about shipping one day.
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?
It would need to be discussed or the idea floated by me. Depending on how I already feel about the muses and their relationship, I’d then decide if I’m open to exploring something more romantic, but that would still depend on the chemistry of the muses as we went along! If they’ve only been talking for five minutes then I probably won’t feel it, I usually need a lot of warm up time if I’m honest, but sometimes a ship will just kick down the door immediately. Again, I can be shy/wary of trying for ships if I’m not sure about the chemistry between the muses, so it’s usually best to ask me once they’ve had a couple of threads together!
ARE YOU SHIP OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS?
While I do love the ships I’m currently writing and tend to be obsessed with those I’ve already got established, romantic shipping is not super important to me. There are so many other dynamics I’d like to get more opportunities to explore, like siblings and found family (I fucking LOVE found family). At the moment after a lot of bouncing around, I’m at the ‘romantic shipping is prioritized for mains’ stage which means that if anybody is getting a ship from me, it’s probably one of them. But if the chemistry is right in all the places it needs to be, then I might be open to shipping with other writing partners.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?
I kinda already answered these at the top! Add Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase to the list too seeing as I’m currently writing a lot of PJO threads haha.
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU?
Patiently? XD I think one of the most important things when it comes to shipping for me is that the muses need to be able to do things together. By which I mean, they need to be able to have multiple kinds of experiences together, there needs to be scope for them to get into a lot of different situations in which we can explore their dynamic further. Like, for example, my ship with Mycroft Holmes as written by @governmentofficial and Count Dracula, we created a verse specifically for Drac where he can cause the most havoc in Myc’s life but they do more than just sit and talk. They go on assignments together, Dracula has to deal with Myc’s demons and Myc has to deal with the fact that Dracula is a demon. There’s a lot to their dynamic that can be explored in threads. And when they do sit and talk, the conversation is engaging and lively and usually causes trouble. That’s the kind of chemistry I look for in all my ships.

After seeing all these gijinka King Boo interpretations - i.e. him being able to shape shift between his regular boo form and that of a human man - I thought I'd give this a try, as well, and do my own version ... because why not.
In that case, especially, I have to say the ship of Hellen and him has quite grown on me, and I really, really like it, tbh.
It's not my usual villainxheroine constellation, but since King Boo strikes me very much as a tsundere type of character, I find this a really interesting union.
Aside from that, they'd be quite the power couple - which is nice, too.
~*~
At this point, some headcanon I have about them:
With non-carnate, immortal beings like King Boo and Hellen, the way they fall in love is a little different compared to mortals. They only fall in love once, and if they do, it's forever. Also, their feelings only deepen and intensify over time, unlike it is the case with mortal humans, where often the reverse is true (although not always).
---
I think the concept of soulmates plays an essential role here, and that they wouldn't fall for anyone but their divine partner (they are pretty much indifferent to anyone else, actually), which makes it a very soul-based union.
---
Once they do meet said partner, they recognize them on a subconscious level. Some fall in love right away, others need a while to realize it - but both feel something instantly, it is just a matter of how cognizant they are of it.
---
In their case, Hellen was the one who immediately knew, while King Boo, proud man that he is, was quite reluctant to recognize and admit it, and was very standoffish at first (honestly, he reminds me very much of Mr. Darcy in that regard).
[ A little shout-out here to TheLilyoftheValley, whose lovely fics (these two, especially) illustrated this dynamic quite nicely. We get to see KB's internal conflict concerning Hellen, and how his outward behaviour hardly betrays what he actually feels - while for the reader it is pretty obvious that he loves her. Anyway, they were very well-written, and I really enjoyed reading them! ]
---
Once he caved in, however, it was quite a one-eighty in terms of his behaviour, producing a completely gobsmacked Hellen, who was't expecting such a thing from him - especially upon confessing his undying love for her in the most passionate manner.
[ If I'm already at it with the Darcy-comparisons - that would be a good one, too - remember these confession scenes!? Yeah, like that - except I rather imagine him being a little more fierce, kissing her like Rhett does with Scarlett. And that Hellen is far from being as oppositional as Lizzie or Scarlett, of course, as this isn't her and KB's dynamic.]
---
Regarding the dynamic of their relationship, once it is established, I absolutely love the thought of it being similar to that of Gomez & Morticia Addams, with them being ardently in love with each other, and not afraid to show it - which is quite of a contrast in his case, compared to his former reserve, as it is now evident for all that he adores her just as much and as deeply as she does him. His Gomez side just needed a bit to come out of its shell.
It would certainly fit their dramatic personalities.
[ From what I've seen so far, I'm not the only one with that preference, apparently, which is nice. Mutuals are always welcome and appreciated! ]

FAVORITE FANFICS OF 2022
What is up, you guys? HAPPY 2023. We did it. We somehow made it through 2022 that, in 2 words: TRIED IT. 2022 tried all of us in so many ways than one. Emotionally, mentally, physically, and beyond.
We all had ways of coming up with ways to get through the rough year. Friends & family (both blood & chosen). Music. Movies and shows. And of course fanfics.
The world can be turning, burning, but at least fanfics can always be counted to take us away from harsh reality and bring us into the sweet world w/our fav characters, OTPs falling in love dozens of ways.
Every year fanfic writers both familiar & new to me blow me away with their talent, their writing, their brilliance. And every year I always do this traditional post to give them their flowers.
If you're interested in past lists, here are the ones for 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018
Without further ado, here are my favorite fanfics of 2021
1). prince & prince by Authoress aka @kiribakus (tododeku)
Summary: Note to self: don't accidentally fall in love with a prince who's in an arranged marriage keeping your kingdoms from declaring war against each other. Especially when you're spying on him as his manservant.
Jaw. On. The. Floor. Jaw. Still. On. The. Floor. This story is the reason why this post is coming January 1st instead of the December 31st. I stayed up till almost 3 in the morning to finish this story and my jaw was on the floor when I read it. My jaw is still on the ground as I write up this review. I buddy-read this w/my bestie @littlenightdragon & our mind are still blown by what we read.
This story has been a long time coming. This is considered the classic fanfic in the tododeku community. It's took me while to get to it since there are so many stories I wanted to get through, but I finally did. Quite frankly, because this is such a popular fanfic, I don't know what else I can say that other readers haven't said in their own rec posts.
However I will happily say this one lives up to the hype. I repeat: LIVES 👏 UP 👏TO 👏THE👏 HYPE! The writing, the dynamics between Izuku & Shouto, the smut that was just 🔥🔥🔥, and again I APPLAUD @kiribakus for how the story was done. This is loosely based off the Captive Prince trilogy, so if you're familiar with the trilogy, you definitely see the elements of the story while also having this fanfic be its own thing. Not an easy thing to do, so massive kudos 👏👏
2). The Pakhan's Jewel by theangryuniverse (viktuuri/victuuri; mpreg)
Summary: No one had ever heard the omega speak.
It was not that they had never heard him at all. They had all heard the voice of the omega at some point – a gentle laugh, for example, a quiet hum, or, quite more often, lustful cries and moans, caused by the Pakhan himself. But the omega never spoke, and never deigned to even look at them, for they all were beneath him, and mattered less than the dirt beneath his feet.
For they all knew that Katsuki Yuuri's heart belonged to one man only - and that man was Viktor Nikiforov, the Pakhan himself.
Someone had said, I believe it was either here on Tumblr or Twitter, that the YOI fandom is keeping itself alive w/fanfics, fanart, and posts on our favorite ice-skating couple. I 1000000000%. And this fanfic is proof of it.
Oh where oh where do I begin? Let's start with this. We have ABO and a Mafia AU with an established happily-married couple who give the same intense, overly-passionate in love energy as Gomez and Morticia Addams.
I repeat an ABO Mafia AU story with a couple who give off the same intense, passionate happily-married energy as Gomez and Morticia Addams, which I needed so badly and was greatly needed. It was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I ate it up like candy. I devoured every chapter.
My favorite element of the story is how Viktor is the Pakhan, he's the boogey-man that keep enemies and allies alike on their toes. Yet Yuuri is the one who keeps him on his toes- and knees-and however Yuuri decides to see his husband fit. It was sooooooo good. Like if Yuuri told Viktor to burn the world, he'd do so happily. He was such a simp for his husband the same way Gomez is for Mortica and I ATE IT UP.
And I'll definitely check out more stories by this author & suggest you do so too.
3). Winter Song by proantagonist (viktuuri/victuuri)
Summary: The set of Yuuri’s mouth softened into a private smile as Victor squeezed his knee beneath the table. His hands were bare, free from the gloves he so often wore when they were together on the rink, and the heat of his palm burned straight through the denim of Yuuri’s jeans. He slipped his own hand beneath the table and found Victor’s. Hidden from sight, their fingers began to flirt and play. A secret conversation all their own that needed no words.
Yuuri was aware that at some point—a moment in time he couldn’t quite place—Victor had become his boyfriend.
There wasn’t a single instant when it happened. It was a slow awareness, as if Victor had silently been asking the question for months now, and Yuuri had been giving him the answer a little more with each passing day.
Another YOI story? Why, yes, yes it is. Was this another one that gave you all the feels? Yes, yes it did. This one- all I can say is 10 10 10 10 10 across the board. This one was canon, in a way that was more so behind the scenes/deleted scenes that the creators didn't want us to see but the fanfic writer was like Yeah....FUCK THAT, we're getting those bonus scenes.
In this one, we see Viktor and Yuuri develop more as a couple while also coming into their own. I love how it's equal. Like yes, even though Yuuri has social anxiety, Viktor has his own issues with self-worth, past relationships, and expectations. The author noticably took time with the relationship where we see them become a stronger team, better friends, and a sweeter couple.
Such a joy to read.
4). The Roundabout Way of Fate by @itsmyartfam (tododeku)
Summary: “His quirk will get attention no matter where he goes. But if he ends up working with heroes then he’ll have their protection. That’s why I said most doctors and nurses have minor healing quirks- because people with powerful ones often catch the attention of heroes, who will in turn protect them from any villains who also have their eye on them.”
“Oh! Okay. Okay… this… this is a lot…. Heh, and I was worried he’d breathe fire…”
“Don’t ever forget- Izuku’s quirk is a good thing. He just needs to be a bit more careful than most children.”  _________
Midoriya Izuku wants to become a hero. Midoriya Izuku is born with a healing quirk. He learns how to save people a different way.
You ever read a story that's so canon yet not like canon, but you wish it could be canon? Like if you had a chance to redo canon, you'd pick an alternative. Well, for this one, if I could make it canon, I would in a heartbeat. Like it was among one of the first fanfics I read in the beginning of the year, but the fact I still think of it fondly proves how much of a great, fun read it was.
There are so many things I love about this fanfic. Obviously the writing, obviously the pining that goes on with both Shouto and Izuku. But I think the main things are I love how Izuku has a quirk, a Healing quirk at that, that seems so minimal to society but he's like, NAH You're not gonna push me around and treat me like I'm delicate flower. There were even scenes where he had to remind Shouto of that, and it was too satisfying to read.
But most of all, I love the platonic relationship between Izuku and Bakugo. This is one where you can tell there is a bond there, but it's much healthier with boundaries clearly set. One where Izuku isn't afraid to call Bakugo out & Bakugo actually thinks things before before just exploding.
I ADORED IT. Just as much as I adored the author @itsmyartfam for making Izuku a healer. They had expressed they dealt with backlash from other readers who didn't agree with the quirk, but I thought it was very fitting. Given Izuku's personality, his caring nature, his compassion, healing is perfect match.
5). flawless by @irishseeeker (kathony/kanthony)
Summary: Kate Sharma is the diamond of the season.
Viscount Anthony Bridgerton plans on courting and marrying the Diamond of the season.
Kate is going to make that as difficult as possible.
First off I like to give massive thanks & props to @irishseeeker for doing the damn thing and giving me what I wanted. Me & my besties @littlenightdragon & @kila09 all agree on several things
Season 2 KICKED ASS. Season 2 carried. Simone & Jonathon did what needed to be done and carried season 2 on their bare backs.
Season 2, much as it is amazing & gave me my new favorite OTP, would've been better if Kate had been made the diamond. It definitely would've given the Queen the buzz she wanted. It would've been made the season more better- not to mention take away the barely-there love triangle they were trying for and failed at EPICLY.
The fact @irishseeeker as if they could hear my thoughts took the idea and run with it, they have my eternal gratitude. Currently it is a WIP, but y'all should definitely check out because you'll be devouring and begging for more. I know I did.
6). Bottom by Anonymous (kathony/kanthony)
Summary: By day, Anthony Bridgerton is in control. He eats at exactly the same time every morning, he exercises for exactly the prescribed amount of time, at work he never misses a deadline or forgets to show a friendly face, and at home he's a dedicated son and big brother, always there when his family needs him. His life since his father's passing has been about control.
By night, Anthony is ready to let go. He doesn't want to think. He doesn't want to plan. He wants to let go and let someone else take the wheel. (Or the dog leash.)
This is Anthony's journey into being a sub.
Before this story, I never really read femdom unless the couple is a queer-sapphic couple. Now after this story? I just want more. Especially if it's Kate being that dom. Like please give it to me. Please please please.
Mind you, we don't get much of Kate or kanthony/kathony until the last chapter. The beginning is more so Anthony and Simon, but the main thing I love about this story is how it does explore Anthony's trauma with being the oldest, having so much expectations placed on his shoulders. Which is what the show did hint at, but didn't go deeper. In this story, we did. And I appreciated it.
7). All That series by @himawaribees (Itafushi)
Summary: Fushiguro Megumi and Itadori Yuuji first meet at a frat party and proceed to have lots and lots of sex. Like, a silly amount of sex. Some (the author) might say they have too much sex.
Follow itafushi's journey as they fall for each other and slowly, eventually get together!
This was an unexpeted I found on Tumblr, I believe. I've been rocking in the Jujusten Kaisen fandom for awhile- also highly recommend the anime as well as the manga. But as long as I've been rocking in the fandom, I didn't have a definite ship. Until now.
Sometimes, all it takes is a good fanfic to kinda show you how well a ship can be. Which is what happened here.
I've always liked Megumi and Yuuji's dynamic in the show. Definitely gives sunshine & grump energy. Eager pup & annoyed cat. But this story, along with many from the author proved how that dynamic can work even more than as a couple. The way I just devoured the first story of the series, then the 2nd one, then the next, and the next till I finished what's been poste & am eagerly awaiting the next update.
Honorable mentions:
Sweet Tooth
Trust Me
Slow Down
8). Like, Comment, and Romance by @xskyll (tododeku)
Summary: In the hero community, it’s common for popular heroes to have merchandise for sale. Amongst these items are a few staples: t-shirts, figurines, and, of course, replicas of their costumes. This is where Deku, a well-known YouTuber, comes into play. Deku’s Hero Analysis is a series where the host, Deku, dresses up in official pro hero costumes, then does an analysis of each hero and reviews some of their merchandise. Joining him is Hito-nyan, the sarcastic cameraman who never shows his face and loves to push Deku’s buttons. And watching them is pro hero Todoroki Shouto, who absolutely, without a doubt, does not have a crush on Deku. Except actually he does, which is fine, because it turns out they have a friend in common and getting to meet the adorable YouTube star is more likely to happen than he ever would have dreamed.
Midoriya Izuku + Youtuber. A combination that never crossed my mind and never seemed so right until now. Like second, I started reading the story, I was like WHY DIDN'T THIS COMBO CROSSED MY HEAD BEFORE. It makes total sense, especially with how in depth his hero analyses are and how much of a fanboy Izuku.
Along with Izuku being a total fanboy, we also have Shouto who becomes a massive (obsessed) fan with Izuku's channel, and quickly afterwards with the boy himself.
I love how we got the unexpected duo that was Shouto and Ochako, a duo I didn't realized I needed until now.
9). Most Favorite Bedtime Story by Sasunaru (drarry; mpreg/implied mpreg & veela-Draco)
Summary: Scorpius' most favourite bedtime story? The story of how his parents fell in love. And his grandmother tells it the best!
My friend Melissa aka Sasunaru can go no wrong when it comes to her pen game & her wickedly brilliant brain. This was no differeny.
A simple story, but a sweet one nevertheless of how young Scorpius loves hearing his favorite story, how his parents first met and fell in love. And who better to tell the story than the grandmother who was there to witness the love story unfold before her eyes.
10). Like Honey and Grenadine by bazooka (taekook)
Summary: A Somewhat Cosmic Adventure, In Which: Jeon Jeongguk is both a Flustered Meme Child as well as the King of Hell; Kim Taehyung is really good at peeling back layers; Jeong Hoseok can go wherever he wants; balance requires sacrifice.
A retelling of the Abduction of Persephone, but with extra awkward flirting and way more gay.
OMG, this story. OMG, THIS STORY. It just delivered. And I eat. I ABOSLUTELY LOVED LOVED LOVED IT.
We have a Hades and Persephone AU, which I never get tired of, but in this one it was a bit more modern, kinda like Lore of Olympus where Taehyung quickly finds the boogey-man everyone fears and is weary about is a nothing more than a bunny. So insanely cute.
Honorable mentions that I seriously wanted to add to the list but this post is already lengthy. All amazing, all greats reads by various writers y’all should check out:
With Just A Little Help From Our Friends by @sashadistan (tododeku; ABO AU w/Shouto quietly pining, Izuku being oblivious, Kiri being helpful, & Bakugo being done w/all their butts)
Letting It Go by dreamchaser31 (kathony/kanthony; Kate being through w/Edwina's shit & calling her out AS SHE SHOULD, Anthony & Lady D backing her up all the way)
Brighter than The Sun by @goldentruth813 ( sheith; a retired vet in care of care & Keith answering the call)
Hooked on You by @trenchcoatkitten (tododeku; heartwarming story invovling cats, Shouto being a pet daddy, and Izuku a knitting mentor that he falls hard for)
in his hands by @softlystarstruck & @babooshkart (drarry; trans-drarry who are happily married w/soft BDSM & even softer aftercare)
And there you have it, folks. Those are my top fanfics of 2022. I can already tell I'm gonna have LOADS for 2023. To the authors, thank y'all so much for your incredible stories, including the time and effort.
Happy New Year, guys

I guess two of your OTPs based on your Amphibia OTP!
Marcanne: Willuz and Skarlow. You're a huge fan of cinnamon rolls and who deserves a cinnamon roll more than their best friend? As a general rule your ships may not always be the most popular ships anymore, but they're very cute, have a lot of chemistry, and are among the first introduced so you have a lot of content, at least in the first season or two.
Sashanne: Catradora and Winter/Huntlow
You love a good reconciliation (friends to enemies to lovers) ship, and honestly I don't blame you. It's a good dynamic and makes for great angst fanfiction. Your ships might not be the most popular, but their fanbases are extremely dedicated and you're no exception.
Sasharcy: Lumity and Bubbleline
All I can say is that you have insanely good taste in ships and also more than a little trauma that you channel into creativity. You have a good eye and can spot ships as soon as they're introduced. Your ships are are great for hurt/comfort which is good because it's your favorite genre. Your ships are usually either canon or so popular (and for good reason) that they might as well be, and they're insanely cute. You also have a thing for smart chick x girlboss ships and cinnamon roll x spicy cinnamon roll ships. Unfortunately they tend to get WAY less screentime than they deserve, but there's ton of fanart and fanfiction of them. Seriously though usually your ships don't get nearly enough screentime and you're allowed to be sad about that, just remember that they're still together and likely will be until the end of time.
Sprivy : Spinnetossa and Korrasami
You ADORE fluff. You like ships that are introduced early in the series, it doesn't matter that they don't get much screentime early on because they work so well as a couple that they have very few relationship problems and have tons of content later on as well as one being a massive comfort character for you. You're absolutely right in saying that your ships deserve their own spinoff series and you should say it.
Yulivia: Alphyne and Harlivy
You love ships where one of them is slightly unhinged, and the other one is usually the voice of reason but also has some secrets of their own. Honestly kinda a mixed bag but almost always sapphic ships. You're generally into darker stuff with sapphic relationships, and you're most likely traumatized in some way. You probably also ship Sasharcy, in which case, please take care of yourself because you're DEFINITELY a traumatized Marcy kinnie and you've been through a lot.
Golden Oldies (Hop Pop x Sylvia Sundew): Gomez&Morticia Addams and WandaVision
You love a good healthy m/f ship, but unfortunately there's not many that meet your standards. DON'T LOWER THEM. There ARE good m/f ships out there, and they are adorable. You probably love older shows before they added all the unnecessary junk like lying and cheating to the m/f couples, like the Addams Family, I Love Lucy, etc. A newer media for you that I'd recommend is the How to Train your Dragon movies and shows, because you are going to LOVE hicstrid. Stay strong and remember that there will be more healthy m/f representation.
Grimepop: Rarepairs and Pocket Ships
You adore Rarepairs and Pocket Ships, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. Fortunately this is Tumblr and Rarepairs thrive here, I don't really have much to say except for drawing and writing fanfiction will be your best friends.
Sashannarcy: Bumblebee and CaitVi
Your OTPs are GOD TIER, and the entire fandom knows it. There might be a few crazies who don't like your ships because homophobia, but as a general rule, your ships always win the shipping wars, if they even happen in your fandoms besides the aforementioned crazies. You're a great person and most likely polyamorous, because why fight over something (or someone) that can easily be shared?

Thank you for the tag, @ryder616!
This tag game has unexpectedly led to an interesting discussion about what exactly an “Endgame Ship” means... which seems to be largely open to interpretation. I’m still not sure how I see that term, but for the purposes of this post, but to narrow it down and not mention way too many ships, I’ll take Endgame in two different meanings: for “Favorite Ship(s) That’s Endgame”, I’ll take it to mean pairings that were together and in a happy relationship at the end of the story. But for “Ship(s) You Wish Had Been Endgame”, I will take “Not Endgame” to mean that the ship was not treated as these characters’ main romance at the end of the show, or at least there was a lot of ambiguity and/or a rival ship for one or both characters was instead the current one at the end of the story. (A lot of my favorite ships have the tendency to end up unhappily in spite of being portrayed as the main romance of the story..)
Warning: this post contains spoilers for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Agents of SHIELD, The Hunger Games, The Leftovers, The Americans and The 100 (though if you’ve spent any time on my blog, you’ve certainly already been spoiled for the ending of The 100) and .
1. First Ship - When I was about 4 or 5, I was obsessed with Lady and the Tramp (I had a book version with a few pictures and it fell apart from how much I was reading it - it may have been my first book that wasn’t mostly a picture book), so I guess my first ship was two dogs (which is really appropriate, since I love dogs). If we’re talking TV, again going back to my childhood, before puberty and before I even knew what “shipping” was, I remember being pleasantly surprised when Raquel first appeared on Only Fools and Horses as a love interest for Del Boy - the show was an episodic comedy where the two brothers, in the early years, usually didn’t have a serious love interest. I thought “oh, he really is in love with her! And she feels the same, and they are so cute together.” I hoped she’d come back and wouldn’t just be a one episode character but a long-term LI. And then I was so happy when that very much did happen. I guess this can be considered the start of my TV shipping (and also an early sign of my love for contuinity and longer arcs on TV).
2. First OTP - Ignoring pre-puberty: at the age of 12, I was really obsessed with Wuthering Heights and Heathcliff and Cathy and read the book who knows how mny times. Regarding TV, I’ve shipped over the years, but I guess the first TV ship I would really call my OTP was in This Life, a 1990s UK drama about a bunch of 20-somethings in London, which I watched on TV in 2001. which now sadly seems almost forgotten. Anna and Miles had an on-off, love-hate relationship throughout - they were sexy, snarky, and it was painfully obvious that they were in love, but these idiots had trouble admitting it to themselves and even more to each other. If it had been a romcom, they would’ve been certain to end up together, but it was a realistic drama.
3. Current Favorite Ship - Bellarke - oh, what an OTP of all OTPs that was before it was stupidly destroyed out of spite. Over the last couple of years, Dark (season 3 mostly) made me really love Jonas and Martha (the first pairing I’ve made gifsets about), and most recently (last month!), I binged Halt and Catch Fire and fell in love with the show and with Joe and Cameron’s relationship (which, I just realized now, shows that my taste in OTPs hasn’t changed in 20 years).
If we’re talking current as in, in current shows rather than finished ones, then  Kanej (Shadow and Bone), Harlivy (Harley Quinn), Gereon and Charlotte (Babylon Berlin) and  Roy and Keeley (Ted Lasso).
4. Your ship since the first minute - I really rarely ship anything from the first minute (unless we’re talking Morticia and Gomez, who are of course already a perfect couple and nothing ever changes there). It usually takes time for me to fall for a ship. A rare exception is Roy and Keeley - their first one-on-one scene in S1 already had huge OTP vibes.
5. Ship(s) You Wish Had Been Endgame - Do I even have to say it? BELLARKE. A hundred times Bellarke, who were portrayed as endgame before the showrunner decided to retcon and ruin them together with the show overall.
Others: Jessica and Luke in Netfix Narvel shows, May and Andrew on AoS, Willow and Oz; or, depending on how you interpret Endgame, Willow/Tara (some argue that it is Endgame as Tara is definitely portrayed as the love of Willow’s life regardless of everything else). Spuffy (again, there are different opinions as to its status as both the show and the comics ended ambiguously and tried not to have a clear Endgame pairing for Buffy’s character), Xander/Anya (if you take comics into account).
6. Ship You Wish Was Canon - Some would say Bellarke, again, but I tend to consider it canon. It’s debatable, for sure (if you only consider making out/sex and/or “I love you” as markers of canon, it is not canon; if it is enough for the show to make it so blatant in the first 6 seasons that you have to actively search for ways to deny it to make it sound platonic, and for actors to confirm it was portrayed as romantic- than it is.)
So my answer would be: Kastle (Netflix Marvel shows), QuakeRider (AoS), and Octavia and Diyoza (The 100) and maybe Faith and Buffy (mostly in the sense that canon could have explored the nature of Faith’s feelings for Buffy a bit more and a bit more openly).
7. Ship that Most of the Fandom Hates, but You Love - Angel and Darla, May and Andrew, Coulson and Rosalind (hated how it ended though). Miller and Bryan (because they were more interesting than Mackson, and Bryan had a personality), Though “ships that most of the fandom ignores” would be a more apt term. The one that most of the fandom does hate and I like it is Octavia/Ilian - I liked it for what it was, two damaged people finding comfort together in what could have grown into something more - instead of the “we’re ve just met and talked to each other once and we’re already IN LOVE!” trope that the writers of The 100 were so fond of.
8. You Don’t Even Watch the Show, but You Ship It - Why would I ship something from a show I don’t watch?
9. Ship That You Wish Had A Different Storyline -  BELLARKE (duh - the ending). Veronica and Logan (the ending, again). Coulson/Rosalind - they had such an interesting and fun dynamic that could have been explored much more; instead, the writers opted for one of the worst tropes there are, and I hated that entire plotline for so many reasons. Tyrol and Boomer on Battlestar Galactica - what they did with Boomer was crap. Baltar and Caprica - all the bad writing in season 4. This is a weird example of a ship that I shipped so hard for 3 seasons and that was given Endgame in every sense of the word, but, by that point, I barely cared anymore, because the writers forgot about their relationship throughout the final season and made it seem like they didn’t even remember each other, and then slapped a last minute happy ending. Plus they retconed/explained their connection in such a stupid and anticlimactic way that ruined it retroactively.
10. Favorite Ship(s) That’s Endgame - Everlark, Nora and Kevin (The Leftovers), Philip and Elizabeth (The Americans), and Josh and Della on Night and Day (a really obscure early 2000s UK show that was watched by maybe 100 people.) Some others worth mentioning: FitzSimmons, Niles and Daphne, Tim and Dawn (original UK The Office), Jake and Amy, Memori (the only bright spot in a rubbish ending). And of course, there’s Morticia and Gomez, though they are less Endgame and more AlwaysGame.

What your MK OTP says about you
(based on ships I enjoy and/or have seen in passing)
[feel free to rebagel and add—ship hate will mean insta-blockage, for whatever that’s worth! I’m using the ship names I’ve krafted, and ballparking with others. I hope they give ye a giggle. If your ship isn’t here, PLEASE add it! I just went from memory. I love y’all.]
Caged Heat (Liu/Johnny): you’re here for a good time, not a long time—you like good tiddies and the word “angorny” means something to you. There is passion in both kombat and throwing someone’s luggage off a dock. Sparks, I tells ya.
Sonya/Johnny: you appreciate pegging and Cassie Cage (who doesn’t?). You like the story of a jerk with a heart of gold showing his true colors to a woman who is NOT easily impressed—and who also tops.
Shaolin Rowdy Boys (Liu/Lao): you’re here for a good time, not a long time… literally—you crave childhood friends to unexpected lovers and secret banging in temple broom closets! You see the value of a best friend who’ll go to bat for you, even against a 10,000 year old turboprincess, or maybe you ARE that friend.
Jadetana (Jade/Kitana): Kitana bottoms for NO man, but for Jade, she’d do anything. You love that dynamic of unswerving loyalty which secretly hides deep, abiding admiration and maybe a little lust—or a lot! Who knows what freaky shit Edenian gals can get up to in their private time? You. YOU know and may The Elder Gods™ bless you for producing kontent.
Thermodynamic Equilibrium (subscorp): old guy love is just the ticket—you crave the maturity of years, but you don’t want it boring; someone is getting speared because the love is more intense with age. Kombat to lovemaking is your kryptonite.
Warring Exes (Shang Tsung/Raiden): old guy love, but make it fashion—opulence meets chastity in a clash for the ages; you want an emotional roller coaster of “what if” and “why not”, where a mortal may teach a god to love himself, and love being loved… or perhaps not. Tragedy abounds. There’s enemies to lovers and then there’s this roller coaster. Do you really want good things for Raiden? Debatable.
Faraday Cage (Johnny/Raiden): old guy love, again, but this time it’s two dads finding comfort in a time when they need it most—you REALLY just want good things for Raiden and honestly, who doesn’t? Johnny is, decidedly, a good thing and you’ve decided that nicknames like “1.21 gigawatts” and “electric slide” are acceptable forms of foreplay.
Cassie/Raiden: Faraday Cage 2: Electric Boogaloo—you might be a spite shipper (rock on) or you just dig visible age gap (because you know that every ship including Raiden or Fujin is EXTREME age gap) and you just want Cassie and Raiden to have nice things.
Jacqueda (Jacqui/Takeda): you watched them grow over the course of X and you were smitten. You’re convinced love really can bloom on the battlefield and kombat spouses appeal to you. The idea of Jacqui throwing down with Scorpion for Takeda’s hand appeals to you as well. Same.
Liutana (Liu Kang/Kitana): all those voice lines and character endings mean something to you—in fact, you may have cried; they’ve been fiddling about since 1995, goddammit, you just want good things for them! Is that so much to ask? I say make it happen.
Royal Pain (Shao Kahn/Sindel): the term “power couple” means something OTHERWORLDLY to you—you took one look at this terrible twosome and went “get me a freak like that” but no one was sure which one you meant and that was okay with you. You’re enamored with their grisly Gomez/Morticia aesthetic. They are awful and you LOVE it. Good on you!
Windwolf (Nightwolf/Fujin): you played Aftermath. ‘Nuff said. JK I’m never done. You love the dynamic of middle-aged person and deity falling in love, which is bizarrely specific, but you’ve found your niche goddammit and you’re going to fill it. You appreciate the koncept of the “god” not always being on top of things, or put-together and the idea of a mortal comforting such a being titillates you. The way Nightwolf stands, holding his belt buckle is, you’re convinced, what sold Fujin; it’s also what sold YOU.
Windserpent (Shang Tsung/Fujin): you played Aftermath and while you didn’t think of it at the time, you’ve seen some REALLY nice art and batted the idea around a while and then settled on “yes this is for me”. The appeal is in the danger, from both sides—a nigh-immortal soul sorcerer and a god. Perhaps you crave a redemption arc, or a corruption arc; either way, this ship has serious potential and you intend to exploit it. How Shang Tsung of you.
Honor among thieves (Erron Black/Kung Jin): you dig age gap, unironic cowboys, and the idea of a couple of people who haven’t always been on the right side of the law finding themselves and their points of strength in the Kourt of an Outworld emperor.
Kotal/Jade: you only needed a few cutscenes to tell you that these two are MADLY in love; what we lacked in pure kontent (after all, the game didn’t CENTER on them), they made up for in passionate exchanges. You appreciate the dynamic of respect between them and pegging is NEVER off the table.
Kano/Raiden: the aesthetic of filth-meets-purity appeals to you something fierce. The dynamic is unique and you love the potential for a redemption/corruption arc(s?).
Shang Tsung/Kano: you saw the club scene in MK95 and you went “yes they’re boning”. Whether there is actual affection or not varies with your mood. You love the idea of disaster gay and refined gay coming together to make something dastardly.
Bi-Hanzo (Bi-Han/Scorpion): you crave old wounds and aches and angst, drowning in memories of what never could have been, and regrets of what might have been prevented. This is an angst fest and it is YOUR cup of tea; drink that shit down, my friend, no sugar, no cream. Have at it.
Sonya/Jax: team mom and dad aesthetic appeals to you on a spiritual level. Someone’s gotta be in charge of this chicken shit outfit. AMERICA.
The Storm (Fujin/Raiden): your aesthetic includes the difficulty of a mortal’s inability to truly connect with and understand immortals and immortals finding themselves and each other in that realization. These entities who have existed since the beginning of all things understand each other better than anyone else could. Shine on.
Sindel/Raiden: this is team parents aesthetic on ‘roids. You’re probably a fan of the brainwashed Sindel theory and you’re of the opinion that only the love of a god is remotely worthy of the ultimate scream queen. Honestly, you’re probably right. Body worship is on your list of goals, right alongside worthy equals in a relationship—kinky. That being said, pegging is always a possibility.
Mileena/Scorpion: your aesthetic is danger—but alongside that is “lost souls finding love” and “shared burdens of infinite AGONY”. You dig angst and the potential for star-crossed lovers, meeting each other’s eyes across the arena of kombat. The idea of Scorpion as a consort (Kahnsort?) for Mileena might also appeal to you.
Rain/Mileena: the song “hatefuck” by the Bravery is probably your jam. You know there’s little love lost between these two, but perhaps kombat will bare their souls in such a way that they find some redeeming quality in the other—and the sex is VICIOUS. That’s what you’re looking for and by The Elder Gods™ you’ve found it.
Fanblade (Kitana/Sonya): you saw MK95 and went “I can fix this”. Kombat futch meets ancient warrior princess futch—this feels like hardcore xenabrielle vibes with a side of GORE because it’s mortal kombat, let’s be real. You feel as if Kitana would be foolish not to claim Sonya as her lover after watching her snap Kano’s neck with her thighs. You would be right.
Taleena (Tanya/Mileena): rebel, rebel—we love a good usurpation, don’t we? Power struggles are hot, both politically and in bed. Your kinks include overthrowing the bourgeoisie (even though you ARE the bourgeoisie) and seizing the means of production (meaning the flesh pits, probably).
Shaiden (Shinnok/Raiden): your motto is fight and fuck—or enemies to lovers, for the more refined shipper. Maybe you prefer enemies AND lovers. Go hard or go home, I say.
Nightwolf/Erron Black: old guy love, but make it reformed criminal. The appeal here is that, very likely, someone has to convince someone else that he really IS out of the woods, to show him his true worth, and maybe give him some time off from the violent grind of kombat life.
Kablam (Kabal/Erron Black): black dragon buddies! In the depths of mercenary work, there isn’t time for love, not really, so you want to see these two assholes find some semblance of peace and pleasure amidst illicit activities. Whether or not Kano knows depends on what kind of quickie sex appeals most to you.
Jacquass (Cassie/Jacqui): military lesbians, friends to lovers, BFFs, this ship has it all. You’re in love with the idea of a couple of people who grew up together, suffered and fought and bled together, stumbling away from a battlefield, carrying each other and finding that perhaps they can keep carrying the other, maybe forever.
Kotal/Erron: The idea of watching someone go from bad to the bone, to actually CARING about something other than himself thrills and excites you. That kind of loyalty can’t be bought, even though you keep pretending that’s all it is. Very tsundere.
Kano/Kabal: “he’s a lowlife, piece of shit scumbag; you’re gunna love ‘im.” Nuff said.

Top 5 OTPs
Rules: List 5 OTP’s from 5 fandoms and tag 10 people to pass it on to I was tagged by @aussiegirl41 way too long ago, but...who’s counting? Thanks for giving me the chance to ramble! 1.) Quark and Natima, from DS9. I admit, they’re dysfunctional to begin with. Depending on how you interpret it, their episode is either really problematic or makes their relationship even more dysfunctional than it appears at first glance. But...at the end of the day, I love how they love each other, and I have since I first saw them in 1998. In the craziest way, they just seem to suit each other. And while I'm here, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the DS9 relaunch for not ruining them for me. (“Actually, in the Relaunch he was dating--” “LIKE I SAID, THANKS FOR NOT RUINING THEM FOR ME. I APPRECIATE IT.”)  2.) Carson and Hughes, from Downton Abbey. Oh, these two. They're so stubborn and proper and never make things easy for themselves. But I love how they can say volumes with just a look, and I love their devotion to each other. You know that no matter how much they may disagree, they’ll always have each others’ backs.  3.) Stark and Zhaan, from Farscape. Oh, these two. Their dynamic is subtle and quiet, but they click beautifully. Yes, they have issues, both apart and together, and I wish there had been a chance to explore them more fully. But at the end of the day, they're another pairing where I just love how they love each other.  4.) Khalid and Jaheira, from Baldur's Gate. I seem to be one of the few people in the world who likes Khalid, unfortunately, but I have a soft spot for the guy and his sweet nature. I love how they round each other out—how he tempers her impulsiveness and she gives him confidence—and how he has his heart on his sleeve where she's concerned, while she tends to be gruff and no-nonsense, but can't conceal how much she cares about him. I love these two and have always been fascinated by the untold story of their pre-game life together. 5.) ....I might not have been so hasty to disqualify the various video game pairings if I’d known how hard it would be to settle on a fifth. (Somehow it seemed unfair to pick a pairing where 50% of it only exists in my head, even though some of the choices would have given more diversity to this list.) But after a lot of waffling back and forth, I think I'll go with Morticia and Gomez. People say “happiness is boring”. Tell it to these two, who settled down, had a family, moved in extended family members, are still utterly devoted to each other who knows how many years later--and are still tons of fun to watch. I’m going to tag @lizawithazed, @inordertolivelife, @come-chaos, @belovedrival, @dameofdownstairs, @itssoinevitable, @marilynwhitmore, @lilian-deserves-tea, and re-tag @aussiegirl41--since she had to give her fifth place to a series of honorable mentions, I think it’d be great if she got the chance to develop her thoughts on another set of OTPs!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given the subject of my last post, I really couldn’t resist - because, honestly, I totally love the idea.
(plus another character to create, which I also love doing, hehe)
So, here she is, my OTP’s daughter - Estella Robotnik-Sharpe
Yes, a girl, because I really, really like father-daughter constellations when it comes to my fav male villains, as I think especially female children manage to draw out their softer sides, and I can’t help but find that absolutely adorable.
Then there is also the aspect, that daughters can also mirror the relationship the father has to the mother, to some degree, since the girl may often remind him of her - via resemblance, personality, or both. You know, the “She really got that beauty / smarts / kind nature / talent for xyz from her mum.” *sighs proudly while making hearteyes at his wife* kind of thing - which I totally dig, too (because OTP stuff).
As for the double surname I picked for Estella …
I thought it was an important detail to point out, that, while her fathers’ ancestry might certainly be more (in)famous, her mother comes from a scientific lineage that has acquired quite some renown, too. The name is supposed to honour exactly that - and the fact that these two truly are, and regard each other as equals. Plus Adelia is half British, and double surnames are fairly common there, if I remember correctly. It is used only for Estella, though. Adelia herself kept her own family name (for the above reasons), even though technically being “Mrs Robotnik”.
Faceclaim would be a young Megan Fox, as I think she has exactly the features that a child of these two here might have:
Tumblr media
Again, facial features would be pretty much a mixture of both parents, which, I think, the picture above demonstrates quite nicely.
Like her mother, she has bright grey-ish blue eyes, that are slightly almond-shaped.
Her hair, however, is more like her father’s, both regarding structure and colour - straight and chocolate brown, albeit with some golden highlights.
In terms of her physique, she also takes very much after her mother’s petite, yet feminine frame. When fully grown, she’s but a little bit taller - which is, actually, still quite tiny - especially compared to her considerably taller father.
She’s stronger than she looks, though.
Intelligence-wise, she definitely takes after both her parents - so she’s one really, really smart girl. To her credit, she’s also quite humble about it.
Same goes for her areas of interest, but with the additional subject of (xeno)biology, given she really loves animals (huge side-eye @ dad’s once remark about animal testing, although he did mend his ways in that regard, to be fair, and she does acknowledge that there is indeed some necessity to it, unfortunately, but tries to find ways to dispose of it).
In general, she has a rather introverted, contemplative, kind and caring nature, and is more on the reserved side. Unfortunately, that makes her seem a bit standoffish to others - especially as she appears to have a bit of a “resting bitch face” problem, too.
Sometimes, however, her fiercer nature, as well as her father’s penchant for sarcasm comes through - but that is more the case when she’s angry about something.
Regarding her loved ones she is fiercely loyal, and might even show a more temperamental and lively, even a bit quirky side of herself (which is especially endorsed by her a bit roguish and adventurous friend Miranda).
Shares her mother’s dry humour, and has the ability to keep a straight face in the most peculiar or awkward situations.
For instance, she remains entirely unperturbed when yet again faced with her parents’ very public amorous demeanour, which she usually shrugs off with a “Oh, they do that all the time.” *proceeds to go about her business*. But, then again, she indeed is used to it, unlike any of the nonplussed bystanders.
(I guess, her reactions really do resemble Wednesday’s nonchalance in that regard, who also happens to deal with a similar parent-related situation - and, as I pointed out in the respective post - her parents’ dynamic is very similar to Morticia and Gomez’.).
Her father really dotes on her, and Adelia often jokingly remarks he’d spoil his daughter rotten, if she let him. Unlike his wife, who grew up in a loving family, Ivo had an unhappy, if not desolate childhood, spent in an orphanage, so he somehow feels like having to compensate for the lack he had by trying especially hard concerning his own child. He’s also quite protective, but that goes for his wife and daughter in general (unsurprisingly, given he very much takes after his grandfather Gerald in that regard).
Estella’s sun sign is Cancer, as she was born on the 8th of July - 2 weeks earlier than she was due, and 2 weeks after her parents got married.
(Most definitely not a shotgun type of wedding, btw. Estella might not have been planned, but she was far from being unwanted, as was this marriage. She isn’t the result of a mere fling, either, as her parents had been in a relationship for quite a while already. If anything, the “late” timing was more due to the fact that Ivo simply didn’t have the courage to ask Adelia earlier (because insecurity issues, believe it or not). And both or them aren’t the type to marry out of mere necessity, or convenience, for that matter - nor would Adelia’s parents want, let alone insist on such a union.)
And lastly …
She pretty much regards Agent Stone as her uncle, and even refers to him as such, sometimes, which, in turn, always makes him chuckle, as he’s really fond of the girl - plus his boss indeed has always reminded him of his own, also really successful, older brother whom he tried to emulate when deciding on his career path.
Her best friends are the Wachowski twins (Tom and Maddie’s kids), named James and Miranda, who are roughly 2 years older than her.
And since the feud between her father and Sonic also happens to be a thing of the past, that ended even before she was born (although some moderate rivalry and teasing does persist), she gets along fine with him as well.
So much on that for now.

Princess Selena & Prince Orpheus
My OTP's two children, because I really like the thought, tbh (at this point a nod to the post that inspired it).
A reason for that might, of course, be the fact that King Boo & Hellen Gravely are this particular OTP of mine, which I see as having a full-on "Morticia - Gomez" dynamic - so, apart from them being this epic pair of lovers, I was, admittedly, also a little biased towards the scenario of them having their own "Wednesday & Pugsley" (although these two here are hardly identical with the Addams kids in terms of personality - I don't do that).
Plus I love creating new characters, which might be a reason, too - especially when it comes to a potential child of an OTP, it is always interesting to imagine what they would look and be like (and it was great fun to design these two here, not to mention to ponder the narrative potentialities surrouding the whole issue).
That aside, King Boo is portrayed as having quite fatherly qualities already, which also appears to be recognized by fandom, given the number of "Dad" Boo pics I have come across so far (and, honestly, it's really cute).
As for Hellen, I think she'd make a great mum, too - both due to her personality (very caring and protective of loved ones), as well as the fact that this would be a child of her dearly beloved King Boo (of course, the latter reason would also apply to him, as I think their feelings towards each other are absolutely mutual).
As nice as the thought of an OTP having children is ... the thing with this particular one is just - How!?
I mean, they're supernatural creatures, after all - not mortal humans, with a corporeal form able to create life.
They can materialize their form, if they so wish, yes, but it's definitely not the same as an incarnate human, nor has it the same properties.
Their kind can get intimate with each other, like regular humans, and they do, as one expression of their love for each other - but it doesn't result in procreation.
So, they have a bit of a dilemma here, somewhat similar to that of Yennefer and Geralt (from "The Witcher" - who very much would like to have a child, but can't, as both are barren).
---
Before I continue, I wanted to point out that any described scenarios here are built upon my personal headcanon on Hellen, King Boo, as well as their relationship.
---
Anyway, I don't think the desire to have a family is something they had from the get-go, as it is a rather odd thing to have for their kind. In fact, I don't think it has even crossed their minds before - and certainly wouldn't have, if it came to anyone else.
I imagine that this came to be when they were already married for a while (and happily so - they're my "Gomez & Morticia", after all, so that's a given).
It was during a time of change, when they were involved in negotiating treaties between the kingdoms, and necessity often required them to travel outside of their realm (honestly, the way the ghosts were treated never sat well with me, so I at least want that to be recognized in the narrative, have some justice, and them finally getting the respect they deserve).
It was also a time when the two came into contact with mortals, and gained more insight in their ways and culture, and how they lived their lives - something, which they observed with a growing fascination, as it was so different from what they had seen from the odd ones that had lost their way and ended up in their realm. (frankly, I think their kind is more curious and open-minded about mortals, than most mortals are about them).
From then on, they often used to observe them from a distance - and one day, when they regarded a young couple, playing with their infant girl, a longing arose in each of them to have what these two mortals had - a child of their own - something, which they, by nature, couldn't have.
It's actually a rather interesting theme - the ghost king and his queen desiring something that should be impossible for them. Despite being these really, really powerful individuals (KB especially), there are limits to what they, themselves, can do.
However, I thought it would be quite fascinating to imagine a scenario where they somehow managed to have what they want anyway - and, especially, how they'd get there.
I had to rule out any "magical" solutions, of course, as that would be more KB's area of expertise, and it was already established that he couldn't do anything about it.
As the problem seems to be the lack of a corporeal vessel, I thought that a scientific approach might be more fitting here.
Maybe it would be possible to create one (via advanced cloning techniques, or whatever) - which is quite Frankenstein-esque, but it sounded like a rather plausible scenario to me.
Furthermore, I really would like this method to have its limitations as well (being able to uphold this form just temporarily, before it disintegrates again), especially since it had never been done before - but to work well enough to serve its purpose.
As another downside, that would also mean having to work with an old adversary, and ask Prof. E. Gadd, the only expert on paranormal science so far, for his assistance - which should provide some interesting scenarios and confrontations, narrative-wise.
While I'm quite sure Gadd would be fairly excited about the prospect of being able to conduct more reasearch (and having willing participants for a change - not that he cares, though) - it still should prove to be a fairly risky endeavour, given the man's amoral approach to his work, his tendency to objectify his test subjects - let alone his history with KB's people.
But, since I intend his past behaviour having caused quite some outrage (and rightly so) once it became more widely known (Perhaps, Luigi had something to do with it!? Perhaps his conscience did start to prick him, overriding his fear!? He is a good and kind guy after all, so why not...), he should be more cautious in this case. I guess, this might be one chance for him to make amends, and redeem himself ... at least a little bit.
Aside from the prime objective of this endeavour, it would also give KB and Hellen the opportunity to experience what it's like to be in a "mortal" body for a while, and some of the pros, and cons that come along with it - which would, perhaps, lead to a better understanding of the other side - at least to some degree.
Their children would be some sort of hybrid creature - bridging the mortal and paranormal realms - as they would be born into a mortal body, while at the same time having inherited the magical powers of their parents (at least those that don't conflict with them being incarnate beings). They would live the life of a (somewhat) mortal being (with the exception of their more "unusual" appearance, and not aging once full maturity is reached), until a moment of "phase transition", when they turn into the type of being, that their parents are.
Thus, they would grow up with an understanding of both sides, and could even become intermediaries, furthermore contributing to better relations between mortals and ghosts.
~*~
As for the characters themselves ...
---
Selena is the firstborn sibling.
her personality is more on the calm and introverted side, and she has a very inquisitive mind, that loves to observe and learn.
she's very talented in magic and alchemy, and often likes to combine them with mundane scientific methods.
while being a rather bookish person, and being quite good at drawing and painting (like her mother), she also has interests that are more "active" - like supernatural combat, as well as fencing & spear-fighting (Mum & Dad made sure she knows how to protect herself, as she can't just vanish when someone attacks her, being still in a mortal body).
like her mother, she is very fond of beautiful clothes and adornments, and has a rather elegant wardrobe herself, although her staple colours, besides the family's omnipresent shades of violet & purple, are black and white (btw, her bottom half doesn't have a different colour than her upper one, in case someone thought that - she is wearing tights in the pic).
fully grown, she's about the same height as her mother (5'11'')
unlike her Addams counterpart Wednesday (I'm talking about Ricci's edgy 90's Wednesday here - the one I grew up with), she has quite an amiable character and a strong sense of justice, that makes her even win over the more fearful and skeptical of her mortal encounters - again, qualities that make her an ideal ambassador for their kind.
what most don't know, however, is that she also has a bit of a temper - but that will only show itself when she sees something that goes against said sense of justice, and / or when loved ones are hurt.
a close friend of hers is a boo called "Booverness", who first was assigned to look after her during the seldom moments when her parents were otherwise occupied (be it with work or each other).

Orpheus is born a few years after his sister.
his personality is also more on the calmer, introverted side, although he still does have a flair for drama (they all do, to some degree), and gets very lively when it comes to the subjects he loves.
while he is also an avid reader, his great passion is music (can't have a character named Orpheus and disregard this subject, now can I !?), and he is very good at playing the piano, as well as the violin. He is also a great fan of famous composer and pianist Amadeus Wolfgeist, whose concerts he regularly attends.
other than that, he is quite a skilled illusionist - taking after his father in that regard.
like Selena, he is also well-trained in spear- and swordfighting, as well as supernatural combat techniques.
another similarity he shares with his sister (maybe due to their upbringing) is that he's very debonair and gentlemanly - and both occasionally help out their parents in performing official duties (regarding their mother's hotel business, as well as representing their people).
his clothing style is usually rather formal, consisting of mostly black garments with white accents, that are inspired by Regency - , Victorian -, and Edwardian - era fashion, but also modern era suits.
fully grown, he's still a bit shorter than his father, while still being quite tall in general (6'4'')
That was about it - at least for now.
