I had a revelation about myself recently. That, surprisingly enough,

I think I don't like horror.

When I first watched Emesis Blue, I was too concentrated in understanding the plot that I kinda *forgot* to turn on my feeling perception, and I almost missed the whole scary part about it. Guilty. When I tried to watch it second tome with my full perception, it was SO UNCOMFORTABLY SCARY I closed the video and never rewatched it again.

It's not really fun for me to be fight or flight scared.

I love painful angst but fighting for life with the scary creature is not a definition of it... That's a different direction.

The closest thing to horror that I can take is existential one. Being trapped in something inescapable, which is not a physical cage but rather living a dull uninspired life with no other option or a way to escape. When there's no *person* to kill for a change because it's a whole system that quickly replaces its cogs.

Like in hl2 beta, everything was so horrible that you could hardly believe that Gordon is even able to make any change.

Dangerous for my mental health but real good.

But if I were to choose my favourite genre to indulge in and work with, it would be mystery. It doesn't have to be scary, but the unknown makes the situation more eerie by itself. Curiosity is the best feeling. I rewatched Interloper more than 10 times.

Also while we're at it, I'll say that I don't enjoy works that are too symbolic/ too metaphorical/ too vague or have too many postmodern references to other sources you have to know first.

One of the reasons I didn't particularly enjoy Emesis Blue (despite being inspired) is that it was too much about *other movies* rather than it's own story, and to understand what it was about analysists had to call back to classic cinema. Maybe that's a loved by many trope but not mine. (Although I shouldn't be the one criticizing this movie lol)

I also can't read stories that are written in a... Water-like vague way?? Like if those were song lyrics that are meant to be widely interpreted, when in fact the text is about a character doing a thing that should've been pretty much clear? My brain just can't register that, as much as I want it to💔

I like art house though! Not sure how, considering what I said above, but guess there's a fine line. I love slow movies that reveal complex feelings and human conditions through precisely crafted symbols and composition. Harmony lessons (2013) is still my favourite ever.

I think I stop liking symbolisms when there are no foundation to what's the story about, when the whole plot is sewn through vague metaphors to decipher. I don't feel the ground like that. Therefore I struggle to care.

I'm so over the theories of Shin Hati being a clone of some big, preexisting character, or being analogous to some preexisting character.

Sorry!!! I think they should just be this fucking random person! A "nobody". A rat ass orphan, from a crap ass backwater planet, plucked up by pure chance.

Because I want to know who Shin Hati is! I don't give a fuck who she's related to, I don't wanna hear some other big name from the star wars universe in relation to her. I've had Enough of the insular theories that put all this focus onto the Skywalkers, or fucking Palpatine clones, or or- Nahnahnah.

Enough of that. Give me more characters who are just. Put there, existing in this universe. More Reva Sevander's, more Trilla Suduri's, more Kyle Katarn's, more Cassian Andor's.

They exist and operate in this big galaxy that feels like it spirals outside of their control. I care about them. I appreciate them. I don't care, give me more of Them. I want to know who the ""nobodies"" are, and I want Their stories.

I just finished rewatching the first Harry Potter movie and man the movie is a lot worse than the book. Granted, the book isn't that great either (any problems with the book would translate into the movie due to it being an adaptation) but there are certain things the movie removes from the book that kinda harm the story to me.

The big one to me is that now the main trio getting their house to lose 150 points due to getting caught pretty much doesn't matter. In the book, when this happens, it's a big deal. EVERYONE in the house hates Harry and his friends for getting them in dead last, and it hits hard because up until this point, Harry has been beloved by pretty much the whole school for being the specialist, most talented boy ever (or something like that), so seeing him ruin his reputation in the school does have an impact, and it makes it so when Harry stops Dumbledore from coming back, it feels satisfying because Harry made up for his past mistake.

In the movie, we don't get to see that. We don't see any of the students show any actual dislike to Harry or his friends for this, so it feels like the consequences of Harry getting his house to lose this many points are just. Gone. So now Harry getting his house to lose points means pretty much nothing. Cool.

I'm not sure this would be considered in a good way, but I watched Snatch and it immediately became one of my faves. I think it was more to do with the creative shots and editing of scenes (which I loved) and some of the character's lines, than the actual story, but I remember thinking about it for days on end afterwards. Actually no the story was also a banger too, but I remember thinking 'man there are so many characters in this movie'. I definitely want to rewatch it tho!

I also remember a short clip from the evangelion anime (not the whole show or even episode though help) that i saw on youtube, really resonated w me! It was from the last episodes of the season, where it becomes more philosophical and a bit cooked, and there was dialogue between Shinji, Asuka and Misato - and I felt like i deeply understood what they were talking about!! Anyway this isnt even a movie it was like a 2 minute clip 😭 but! It's made me want to rewatch the eva anime :)

I watched Zoolander for the first time too! It made me realise, how good it is to watch a silly movie that has a plot but, it's just silly. Anyway I was surprised by how much I liked it 🩷✨️

just found out the guy who played Emil Hamilton on Smallville, a character I greatly enjoy, did voice acting for multiple Barbie movies

(also apparently he did the voice acting for the English dub of Death Note where he voiced L but I haven't seen that so I don't really care, the Barbie movie thing is a bigger deal to me)
