Make Decisions & Execute Strategies in IDUN Action RTS
IDUN singleplayer action RTS game just announced for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Which is the result of the work and effort from developer IDUN Interactive. Due to make its way onto Steam next year. There's a fresh new singleplayer action RTS game for you, called IDUN. If you're unfamiliar, you will be actively making decisions, planning, and executing strategies as the action unfolds in real-time. Everything takes place on a remote drilling colony located on the outer rim of space. This isn't just a regular drilling operation, though. Things have taken a twist, and challenges have arisen. Now, this isn't your typical "defeat the alien invasion" or "mine resources to survive" story. IDUN presents you with a complex tale involving a unique crew. Each member comes with their distinct personality, background, and role to play. Doing so in a story filled with love, deceit, and unexpected turns. It's almost like diving into a thrilling sci-fi novel, but you're in control. One of the standout features of IDUN is the setting. When they say the battlefield is "fully simulated", they genuinely mean it. You're not just watching a static map where units move around. Actions have outcomes here. If an explosion occurs, it will leave a crater behind. That crater could become a tactical advantage or a problem. So as the combat progresses, you might even see these craters filled, altering the dynamics of the battlefield. This level of detail brings a layer of depth and realism, making every choice matter.

This title doesn't skimp on giving you control, either. Since you have a toolbox full of powerful defenses, equipment, and characters. You're not just directing them; you're empowering them. As you delve deeper, there's also an option to upgrade and enhance. So that as challenges grow, so do your abilities. It's like being the director of a massive, explosive symphony. You decide where the crescendos happen. If you've been looking for something deep, engaging, and not just another run of the mill strategy title, IDUN might be for you. The Demo is available for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. So compatibility shouldn't be an issue. For those who prioritize language options, you're in luck! English voice overs with added localizations in French, German, and Spanish. Due to ensure you can enjoy the title in your preferred language. Curious to know more? Steam has all the details you need for the singleplayer action RTS game. IDUN will let you strategize and let the adventure unfold in Q1 2024. Coming to Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Due to be priced at $14.99 USD / £12.49 / 13,99€.

Hey, I'm Nim, I'm 18 and I'm a Scottish lesbian witch. I practice eclectic polytheism, although I mostly focus on Norse and Celtic religion.
This is going to be a little blog about witchcraft, as well as a spiritual diary and grimoire. I'd also love to find some other witch and Pagan friends/mutuals!! (Pls interact)
Some of my primary deities I worship are:
- Odin
- Idun
- Skadi
- Aengus Óg
- Beira, the Cailleach (Queen of Winter)
- Amun-Ra
I'm also a huge fan of Arthurian legend (it's a special interest). I love horror movies, alternative music, and video gaming, but I won't post about those here.
Anyway, that's all <3

Gunnlöð
Guardian of the Mead of Poetry, Jötunn
Appearance: Gunnlöð has dark skin with vitiligo and brown hair in a shorter cut. Her eyes are light blue and often described as too knowing due to her long-term exposure to the magic associated with the mead of poetry. She appears somewhat young and is the second youngest of Odin’s brides.
Relationships: Gunnlöð was disowned by her father, Suttungr, after she slept with Odin, allowing him to acquire the mead. As a result, she is extremely loyal to Odin, as she feels she has no one else to rely on. However, her feelings cannot be described as romantic love. She has one son with him, Bragi, who is married to the goddess Idun both of whom she is quite fond of. She often spends time with Rindr or carries out tasks for Frigg.
Personality: Gunnlöð often struggles with social interactions due to her many years of isolation guarding the mead of poetry. She is very excitable, and her mood can change quickly. However, she is very clever, especially in combat situations. She is extremely loyal to Odin and will follow his orders even to the point of personal detriment due to her feeling as if she owes him a life debt for taking her in after her father disowned her.
She is quite fond of the other members of Odin’s family and regards herself as a protector of the family. She is also extremely protective of those she deems weaker than her and will go to great lengths to protect them, such as pushing Odin into a pit full of lava Jörð made to keep him away from Rindr. Though she did apologize while doing so.
Powers: Gunnlöð is extremely good at handling weapons of all kinds and very fast. She has an excellent mind for tactics and often catches others by surprise. Her memory is perfect, and she is skilled at poetry and singing.
History: Gunnlöð was sent to guard the mead of poetry by her father and spent many years in isolation until Odin arrived. She agreed to let him have three sips in exchange for spending three nights with her. Odin instead drank it all and Gunnlöð was disowned by her father. Odin however took responsibility and brought her back as a wife. Due to her unique upbringing and long period of isolation, Gunnlöð struggles to play the role of lady and more often serves as a guard of the house. Frigg often manipulates her to do tasks for her by claiming it will help Odin or is his will. Gunnlöð is aware she is being used however she sees no harm in helping Frigg and enjoys “being included”. She is also known for her poor safety record when it comes to training, however when Þrúðr wanted to learn to fight alongside her brothers, Gunnlöð immediately volunteered to teach her leaving Thor no choice but to train his daughter lest she train with Gunnlöð.
Trivia: Gunnlöð has more than once accidentally “stolen” books by memorizing the contents at a glance and writing them down later.

More SMT+!Yuu. The “default demons”
Last one:
Oof, this is a long one.
Just some points about the “default demons” and their personalities, Yuu has. As well as their dynamics with Yuu. Also some interactions with NRC.
Jack Frost: The first favorite child. Yuu carries them around like a plush. When it isn’t being carried around cutely, it’s marching behind Yuu like a child playing soldier. They are honestly like a child, they jump around curoius about everything and try to grab things. He-ho-ing their way into trouble. NRC thinks Jack Frost is just a bumbling idiot pet…until it freezes a room completely solid. Crouching moron hidden badass vibes. No wonder Yuu was so lax with it. Whispers curious questions into Yuu’s mind…as well as the occasional He-Ho!
Black Frost: The meaner spoiled older brother. They don’t come out much but they are definitely there for the boss fights. They’re a big bully and act as a type of social trump card for Yuu and the rest. NRC npc’s bullying (or at least trying to bully) Yuu? Here comes the giant overblot monster thing! Black Frost most definitely tries to make Yuu do more chaotic “petty bully” things
Alice: Die For Me! Would be so OP in twst. Blot would be akin to the dark attribute so everyone is weak to it. Meaning Yuu can basically insta kill almost everyone, except for the overblots. Plus imagine her demeanor around Heartslabyul and the unbirthday parties. She would creepily show up around the school sitting on things swinging her legs whispering about death. In unbirthday parties she would hang out in her own corner. She would do the “mount” animation thing where she holds holds Yuu’s hand and skips around dragging Yuu behind her. Alice is the second spoiled brat and gets let off the hook by Yuu a lot. Despite the gang being increasingly worried about Alice’s umm eccentricities. Alice whispers darker thoughts into Yuu’s mind.
Idun: A cutesy idol who is peppy and free spirited. They aren’t well fit into NRC. She is the healer of the party and is generally what makes Yuu so carefree in this world. They can always rely on their healer for a patch up! Idun tries to encourage safe fun and tries to get Yuu to participate more in VDC. NRC students trying to take advantage of her kindness though will get a sassy tsundere attitude and maybe a slap (kinda like Eliza honestly..)
Mephisto: Mephisto is a curious one among Yuu’s demons. They seems less like a pet or servant and more like a equal force…a partner in crime. They talk to each other the same way a house warden and vice house warden would. Mephisto goes around the campus and sneaks around. He’s like Yuu’s spy. And they actually look around for ways back to Yuu’s world. Basically a second brains to the operation, the main source of “smart” companionship Yuu has. They whisper advice into Yuu’s mind about observations they might have missed.
Yoshitsune: The calm one of the group. A little honorable to a fault so.. sarcasm kinda flies over their head. They are a powerhouse in the group so their quite confident in their skills adding onto Yuu’s laxness in TW. They do the whole “I’m so gracious” act with their skills and service so when Crowley starts doing it they immediately see a rival and end up giving him a side eye for the rest of their time there. They confidently tell Yuu not to worry as their strength will stop any troubles. Hassoubu Tobi is just as powerful here than Yuu’s world.
Titania: Mother vibes. Kinda stuck up. She tries to romanticize the atmosphere. Is prissy about Ramshackle, tries to clean around. The Fairy Gala is a sore spot for her since she’s obviously the REAL queen of faeries. Was 100% gonna just light that greenhouse up and had to be stopped. Kinda judges Malleus at first but warms up to him. Puts people to sleep when Yuu wants to sneak around. She whispers worries and cutesy delusions into Yuu’s mind.
Metatron: An absolute lawful-good. Just a Riddle Sebek combined. Sings Yuu’s praises the same way Sebek does to Malleus. Yuu just kinda smiles. Maybe their bashful, maybe their annoyed, maybe their even happy. Doesn’t matter; it’s a blank smile of hidden insanity. But metatrons an absolute powerhouse so… They want to smite down anyone who messes with Yuu. They try to give advice to Yuu but in a complete respectful way trying hard not to ‘criticize’ them or imply they don’t know something.
Trumpeter: A quiet creepy one. Whenever an overblot occurs it’s trumpet could be heard from the other side of campus. Its quiet demeanor spells it as a harbinger of doom.
Night Raven Collage was a odd place. With so many magical prodigy’s in one place NRC was bound for trouble. But the image of a pale little girl in a blue dress with a deathly look in her eyes skipping down the hallway dragging a unimpressed student behind them was certainly an odd sight. The little girls aura was even more of a mystery. It’s felt of death and blot, as if all of humanities ugly was morphed into a human form. It looked human but was obviously not. The unimpressed student behind the girl looked neutral, almost exasperated at the antics of the skipping death of front of them. They made their way towards the lunch room, the sea of students in their path parting in the wake of such a creature. What an odd sight. Maybe someone should snap a photo…
People had attempted to bully the “magicless” student before. The first time the prefect just walked past them, not even sparring a glance…the second time.
The prefect looked down at the cowering students. Their form was shadowed by the beast behind them. Jack Frost laughed in their arms practically trying to jump out of them. Behind Yuu was something that looked awfully similar to the snowman except it was jet black with purple accessories. It’s red eyes shone as it’s body blocked out the sun behind it, but even shadowed it’s growing grin was visible to the students it towered over. The students to their credit thought quick and launched fire attacks at it thinking it would be weak to them like the Jack Frost Yuu was always carrying around. But the giant creature didn’t even flinch at each attack opting to instead laugh out a distorted sound. This felt of an overblot. Negative emotions swirling to the point of physical form. All controlled by a seemingly “magicless” student. The students cowered below the three figures as death quickly approached. But just as it materialized it was gone. All they saw when lowering their shaking arms was the shoes of the prefect walking past them, once again not even sparring them a glance.
Grim wasn’t expecting extra company when he decided to join the prefect in ramshackle. Turns out ghosts are less scary when put next to magical beings and monsters of epic proportion. Grim got used to most of them, he and Black Frost got along while Jack Frost was considered his “second henchmen” ; it looked more like two 6 year olds playing follow the leader in the backyard. Grim was unnerved by Alice and annoyed by Metatron. But over time he got used to his new , “family”. If any of them were to cross the line he could just tell Yuu and all would be forgiven…to an extent. But one sleepless night when he woke to Yuu gone from the rickety bed he met a new demon he hadn’t seen before. Yuu was capable of pulling out new demons from the crevices of their subconscious or at least that’s what Yuu told Grim. But, as displayed during the most recent fight, it was often flashy and draining for the Prefect. They usually stuck with their current team, all with their own quirks and traits. Grim didn’t see the Prefect any more tired than they were on a normal basis, actually this might have been the most “energetic” he’d seen Yuu outside of battle. In front of Yuu stood a tall pale man. His features were spindly and outfit reminiscent of jesters and clowns. But his dark hair that seemed to drape over his face and devilish eyes seemed to suggest much higher regality than a mere clown. He had his arms outstretched and was talking to Yuu in what seemed like a dramatic and important conversation. Yuu was leaning against the wall, posture suggesting lax and comfort. Unlike with their other servants which they had usually an air of authority around, this seemed like a meeting between two co-workers. Yuu, despite the lax disposition, had their eyes focused on the devilish man before them. They looked at him intently while he spoke and nodded along, even occasionally asking questions for which the man put his hand up to his chin and his eyes turned to slits, thinking carefully. Grim couldn’t hear their conservation in full not for lack of trying, but the conversation felt as if it were muffled ; as if Grim was hearing it vaguely through a wall despite being a few feet away from them. But he did manage to catch the name of the new demon. “Thank you for your insight and hard work, I’ll call for you if I need more help…Mephisto.” Then the demon gave a bow and slunk back into the shadows leaving no trace behind.
:Yo does anyone know who the hell the magicless student is??
:The one with the monsters? Their names Yuu I think.
:Yeah, what’s ups with them?
:No idea.
: Dude I just watched them like run a million laps and not break a sweat
: hUh
: Yea, Coach Vargus is shaking rn
: You guys should have seen them at the bean fest!
: They shot like they used a gun before it was crazy. Even did this backflip and started rolling and stuff-super military vibes
: damn…why are they in NRC again???
: they don’t even use a magestone, don’t even think they have the one
: Yeah, they summon like monsters right? How do they do that without overblotting?
: Idk man
: No idea but the monsters remind me of that one overblot so maybe that’s why they don’t??
: who knows man.
: I know I’m late and should go to sleep but I wanna tell you all. A couple weeks ago I saw the prefect get hit with a big fireball like, straight to the face. They didn’t even notice like. Hehwbhsjwhs
: Go to sleep!! Also yeah that’s kinda weird, maybe a protection spell or a potion???
: No! That’s not the weird part, the fireball bounced off them and hit the guy who threw it!!!!!
: like reflect in *insert Pokémon knockoff* ?????
: YEAH!
: ALL OF YOU ITS 3:00 A.M GO TO SLEEP!!
: OK MOMmmmmmmm

Introduction - LFRP/People to interact with
Hi, I'm Raven or Nihil depending on who you ask, I run this blog for my second character in FFXIV, Idun. I'll answer asks (unless I get something I'm very uncomfortable with), and might post snippets of writing and gposes!
For asks the tag is 'ask idun anything', which is also tagged on this post. Asks are open and anon is on!
Keep in mind, I'm not sure how active I'll be here, and this is a FFXIV only blog. I'm also unlikely to be interested in female Miqo, maleroes, lalafells and hrothgar characters.
Traits
A bad temper, if someone makes a bad first impression he's likely to be quite abrasive.
Is often VERY blunt, if they feel someone needs to be told something they will do so.
Unlikely to talk about himself, he often keeps people at an arm's length, due to past experiences.
Distrustful of other Viera, unless they catch his eye in which case he might become overly attached (though this can apply to most other races).
Experiences something akin to the Call of the Void, though he has learned to live with and manage this in most any situation.
More than anything, Idun wants to express himself. They love dancing, it gives him peace when most of the time the world is so very tiring.
Despite trying his best to keep others from getting close to him, once he drops the act he can be quite sensitive and soft. While his somewhat haughty nature doesn't go away, it becomes much more playful.
(His lore post is under construction, bear with me)
Not all of my RP/content will be lighthearted or to everyone's tastes, as Idun's personality might have given away. I do enjoy darker themes and stories, especially with flawed characters. Please exercise caution in regards to triggers, and feel free to ask if you feel something should be tagged.
Any asks I respond to will be in character, and any part of the game is fine to ask/talk about. If you want to ask me, the person, and not Idun please specify.

continuation from this with @unfinishedjulyrain
“You know, for a graceful god, your methods of sneaking into a place sure are ungraceful. You are lucky your voice isn’t that loud,” the princess commented as she rested her chin upon one arm, looking down at Horus who has just arrived with turkish delight. “Be careful, Father might think you want to court me, I don’t think he is ready for that yet.” Nor was she herself, Idun enjoyed every second of her freedom. Cautious not to make a sound, she first grabbed the sweets before helping the other deity inside. “I shall make something warm to accompany these delights. Wait here and pretend you’re a statue. A lanky one.”
at her statements, horus couldn't help but chuckle at what the young goddess has to say. horus wasn't the type to call someone with endearing nicknames but for tonight, he allows himself to. "honey," he jokes, "you have no idea how many times your father has asked me about us." and the male meant it.
with how close they are as friends, odin has approached him multiple times. asking what their relationship was like and so on. not to mention, subtle pressing for more information if they were lovers in any way.
with the desserts taken off his hands, the male stood in the middle of the room. whispering loud enough for idun to hear as he says, "don't make me wait too long princess. a god's time is a precious thing!"
#(( sorry i had to reply to this!! hope it's okay ))#seo; interact#unfinishedjulyrain#* horus x idun

S3E6 - And Then on to Norsewood
Bunch of gifs I made of this scene as well.
While we're here, I'll just say how interesting this scene actually is, because Dawn stands up to Colin about his tactics, about her own desires for improving the city, etc. Anders clearly doesn't care about the campaign and is just going through whatever motions Colin is forcing him through. And there's an underlying tension where Anders doesn't like Colin and Dawn interacting (which later reaches a tipping point as we'll see) because he wants to protect Dawn from Loki, but like he clearly is too afraid of Loki/Colin to outright tell him to fuck off. It's all a case of 'keep your enemies close' and when I say this whole plot - and Loki in general - made me so nervous, it's like, right behind all the Idun shit, haha.

BIROMANTIC HOMOSEXUAL (IDUNIAN) FLAG
idunian is an alternative, shorter and more practical term to describe biromantic homosexual attraction. the term is inclusive for all gender identities (male, female, agender, and nonbinary identities). the name comes from idun, the norse goddess of spring, a season associated with love - quoting symbolsage: “winter, the season preceding spring, is a very cold and snowy time that limits interactions. when spring comes, people can get out and interact freely. there is no snow blocking roads or doorways. festivities come alive during spring, hence the love symbolism. during late winter to spring, animals feel the shift in weather and procreate, another reason for the love symbolism.”

send me a 💞 and i’ll tell you something I like about your portrayal !! | @temporalobjects
✧・゚ A 💞 for you too <3 Since this is about the portrayal, I will try to focus on that or else I end up swooning through the whole post. So *clears throat* A++++ portrayal. Your muses are all unique and yes, I know this is like a standard answer but I have proof! And tbh, why not say it if it’s true? I think when we started writing, I was immediately impressed by Pinky’s and Al’s personalities ( for starters ). She connected to Karen so nicely, as if they always have been friends so that I did not have any difficulties writing them as such. Al’s inner fight also intrigued me and how he acted around Idun in order to hide it. I have yet to interact with more of your muses ( and we also started with Iwai and Sacha ^-^ ) but I also enjoy what I see on dash! hehe <3

Hello! Very sorry to bother you, but I have this idea for a story, and I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on something. I have this idea where a Mountain Dwarf moves to a more seaside town, and while she misses the mountains, she ends up falling in love with a Selkie Girl. So, how do you think a Selkie / Dwarf relationship would go? Like what interactions can you see there that'd be super cute or dramatic? Thanks so much, sorry if this is too weird of an ask! Love your blog btw!
Ohhhhh! First of all, that sounds delightful. Ssecond, while I may not have particular pointers about Selkie/Dwarf relationships (they are your characters, I am certain they will tell you what they want to be doing <3) I absolutely must tell you about a Norse myth that they could both be very dramatic about. Both dwarves and selkies feature in Scandinavian mythology, so this would be fitting for them to know (and worry and pine!) about.
When the Norse gods of Asgard killed the Jötunn Thjazi for kidnapping the goddess Idun, keeper of eternal youth, they did not expect repercussions. They should not have forgotten his daughter Skadi, a young goddess from the high snowy mountains. But the daughter would avenge her father’s death, wrong though he had been, and clad in her chain mail and helmet and bearing her weapons of war, she came down her mountain on her skis. The gods, acknowledging her grievance, asked if she would accept reparations in place of vengeance, and Skadi agreed. Among the terms was that she could choose a husband from amongst the gods of Asgard. This was agreed upon, but she could only choose her husband by looking at the gods’ feet. After much deliberation Skadi chose a young man with fine feet as white as snow. She guessed that those could only belong to the fair god Baldur, but it turned out they belonged to the sea god Njord. The two deities liked one another upon closer acquaintance and soon the gods celebrated a magnificent wedding.
However, after the wedding the couple could not decide where their home should be. Njord lived by the sea shore, in a place where the weather was always soft. While Skadi lived high atop the ever snowy mountains. For nine nights they slept side by side in the mountains, but Njord was plagued by the cold, no matter how warm the embrace of his wife, and the howling of the wolves in the night made him shudder. So down they went to the shore and once again dwelt there together for nine nights. But Skadi could not stand the heat and the cries of the sea birds kept her awake, no matter how calming her husband’s presence.
So finally the young couple decided to part, she living on her mountain and he staying by his shore. They could not love each other’s homes, but this did not prevent them from loving each other. At the feasts in Aegir’s halls they would toast each other, and - warrior that she was - Skadi would hunt the enemies of Asgard side by side with her husband.
Doesn’t that sound like just the thing a young Sea VS Mountain couple would be sighing about? (Maybe minus the vengeance and the blind marriage...)
I hope this gave you some inspiration for your story and I really hope you’ll have a good time writing it! It sounds like a wonderful setup.
#norse mythology#skadi#njord#laura retells#ask#rowandor#also this is /not/ a bother! thank you very much for sharing ^^

A bit of an info dump on the upcoming (upcoming as in after this post, he’ll be ready for interactions) son of Loki & Idun! I’ll put it in a read more so it doesn’t clog much, but, given that he is the son of TWO GODS, he, too, is a God.
Likely the longer/more I write him, more will end up being added to his past and bio in the full page. So take this as a rough draft!
At the hour of his birth, the stars (quite literally) aligned and became bright enough to make the night sky appear as if it were day before slowly returning to the darkened sky it once was. This aptly prompted Loki to choose the name of ‘Nova’, taken out of ‘Supernova’. Nova, meaning a star that shows a sudden increase in brightness that slowly returns to its original state over a long span of time.
This wasn’t done by coincidence, of course. It was his power manifesting -- making him the God of the Stars to go alongside Sol and Mani’s Sun & Moon.
He grew up to, rightfully so, despise many of the Norse Pantheon save a very select few due to the things he had been told were done to his father, his brother(s) (counting Jormungandr), his sister(s) (also counting Jormungandr) and of course, his mother. Even though he had his own form of resentment to them, he knew that the past couldn’t be changed.
He’s a mother’s boy to the core; he’ll absolutely fight anyone who talks badly about his mom. But don’t go thinking that means you can talk shit about Loki, Hel, Fenrir, Jormungandr or his cousins either. They’re his family, even if he loves Idun to death, he’ll stick up for them all.
His personality is VERY similar to Loki, even some of his abilities come from his father; but he has an easier time showing a kinder nature due to Idun. Of course, when he’s angered, he has the combined anger of BOTH his father and mother mixed into his veins.
He frequently helps Idun in the Garden; anything she asks of him, he does it. In his free time, he’s bothering people with practical jokes or showing off ‘magic tricks’ to kids by manipulating the stars to form shapes, shooting stars, or silhouettes of animals; prominently, Ursa Major.
But, remember, he IS the son of Loki. He was taught many things by his father, deceit being one of them. When he wants to deceive someone, they won’t even be aware of something wrong until long after his goal is reached.
Overall, he’s trying his best to be ‘good’, but struggles to do so when he falls prey to the art of mischief like his father did. It’s thrilling and exciting to mess around with people; but unlike his father, he can snap himself back to normal by reminding himself about how his mother raised him.

♥ Loki & Idun! Idun finally gets to see Loki, who has been struggling with his emotions about her, the fact he got to interact with his daughter in two different forms again, and just overall trying to be a 'good guy' (or at least not as bad) after being treated like the villain for so long.
Nonsexual Acts Of Intimacy. — (( @multafata
♥: Your muse crying about something.
Call it a sixth sense, but at this point whenever HE had entered the orchard, Idun knew. And this would immediately begin a game of impromptu hide and seek, cat and mouse, in which she ended up chasing him all over until he finally got bored of it and she either managed to kick him out or she too, relented. It began as a nuisance, she did not enjoy having her work interrupted, especially not by some noisy trouble maker who only wanted to slack off and bother her . . Though the longer these little games went on, the more she found herself . . Looking forward to them. No one could blame her . . After centuries of being alone with nothing but trees for company, any interaction for her was a godsend.
It was always around the same time of day, and depending on what day it was, she knew in which corner of the orchard to look for him. It was nearing that time once again today, though she had no clock, she just knew . .
However, something felt off. Worried, the goddess pauses in her work, trotting along the lines of foliage in search of her visitor. When she did not find him in his usual spots, panic overtook her.
Rushing to and fro, in between branches and leaves, mind flaming with questions and the worst of assumptions. When at last she found him, relief surged through her breathless body . . Then frustration. Stomping over, expression obviously displeased, she prepares to begin nagging before realizing . . Somethings wrong. He had his head in his hands, completely silent.
Skeptical for a moment, she eyes him suspiciously, slowly taking a seat beside him before noticing he was trembling. Not enough to be immediately noticeable but . .
Reaching a hand out, she lays it upon his back and gently rubs up and down, scooting herself closer before raising her other arm and wrapping it about him. Bringing him into her for a tight, comforting hug. She didn’t even need to know what was wrong . . The fact that he was actually crying was enough for any anger to dissipate.
One hand raising again, she places it atop his head and softly stokes his hair.
“ . . I don’t know what’s wrong, you don’t have to tell me. But, you’re safe here. So it’s okay to cry if you need to.”

Frozen 2: A Hope
I have a lot of ideas for how Frozen 2 is going to go. They range from everything from the Southern Isles declaring war on Arendelle to someone stealing Elsa’s magic to our band of heroic misfits going on a wild adventure in search of answers. There are so many possibilities for how a sequel to Disney’s most popular movie since the Lion King could go, but here is just one thing I hope they touch on (but I’m not too sure if they will):
Parents.
Disney has a bad habit of writing parents into movies, only to them kill them off in often traumatic fashion to drive our main heroes forward into the plot. Often these parent deaths have gone down in infamy for being super sad, and so easily remembered by simply stating the parents’ names. For example: Bambi’s mom. Mufasa. Coral. (Ok that last one might not be as well known, but as soon as you say “Nemo from Finding Nemo’s mom who was eaten alive by a barracuda” people know what you’re talking about.) And while there are a lot of Disney parents that do survive the whole film, it should be noted that a lot of them aren’t Disney Princess parents. And even more interestingly, for most of the Disney Princesses, having a dead parent doesn’t actually mean much. The worst that happens is being forced to live with evil stepmothers. There isn’t a push to go avenge the parent, or to fundamentally change as a character after witnessing a parent’s death as what happens in other movies with male leads. In most of the Princess films, at least one, if not both, parents are dead. Snow White: dead parents. Cinderella: dead parents. Ariel: dead mom. Belle: dead mom. Jasmine: dead mom. Pocahontas: dead mom. Tiana: dead dad. Of the official princesses, only Aurora, Mulan, Rapunzel, Merida, and Moana have both living parents, and of them its really only Merida, Mulan, and Moana who have parents that actually contribute anything to the plot aside from: they were reunited with their kid at the end of the movie. (And even then it really is only one parent that drives the plot.)
And, obviously, Anna and Elsa are also in the dead parents camp. Although I will say that them being dead actually contributes a little more to the plot than for most of the others in this camp. If Adgar and Idun were alive, then Elsa wouldn’t be queen. Elsa not being queen means her powers would have never been revealed to the rest of the world, or to Anna. But the late King and Queen contributed more to Frozen than just kicking the bucket in the middle of the North Sea (which is a horrifying way to go, just fyi). It can be argued that they shaped the whole movie, as it is their reactions to Elsa striking Anna that planted the seeds of fear and anxiety into Elsa’s innocent little head when she was only a child. It was their reactions of closing the gates and limiting the amount of contact to the outside world that drove the point home to a traumatized eight year old that she was dangerous, and couldn’t necessarily be trusted. It was how they acted when they first saw Anna cold and still on that ballroom floor that told Elsa over that she fucked up, big time, and that her own parents are fearful of what she can do.
Granted, her parents were afraid, not just of her but also because their other daughter was injured, and they were dealing with things neither of them were ever prepared for, and they both were still rather young parents who were also likely stressed over keeping their kingdom safe, and also were facing the possibility that said kingdom might want to harm their first daughter should they find out about her powers. So they acted, with fear guiding their judgement. And fear was the enemy.
So much in Frozen happened because of Adgar and Idun. So much of who our main characters were happened because of Adgar and Idun. There are so many possible “what ifs” because of Adgar and Idun. And so far, there has been nothing addressing this.
The musical is actually doing a better job, from my understanding. So far in the lyrics of songs like “Monster” and “Dangerous to Dream” we can see that Elsa still values a lot of what her father thinks of her, despite him being dead. She still looks to both of them for answers they might not even have, but regardless can’t respond or even hear her because, well, they’re gone. And this is where Frozen (movie version) kinda loses it for me in the later acts. Because there were some pivotal moments there when Elsa should have been demanding of herself what her father would think of her, or Anna demanding how her parents could do what they did, or even what they did because not once in the movie was she given an explanation - a real one - as to why any of this even happened. That has been left for us fic writers to fill in, a thousand times in a thousand stories, to the point where I doubt we’ll ever see an actual sit down between the sisters where Elsa tells Anna exactly what happened: the accident, the separation, why it all happened - everything. At this point, it’s just assumed the characters know it because we know it.
But they’re missing a huge opportunity here. Because there is a lot of emotional baggage left by their parents’ lives and deaths. Because yeah, the separation was shitty. But you get the sense during “For the First Time in Forever” that the separation was never meant to be as permanent and drastic as it became. While they might have started it, Elsa took it and ran. At some point her fear became too much for even her parents to help her with, and things were never the same again. But it’s clear that neither Adgar nor Idun wanted it.
They weren’t bad parents. Misguided and fearful at times, yes. But not bad. And they very easily could have been written bad. They could have been awful to Elsa, forcefully locking her in her room or even the dungeons after what happened to Anna. They could have continually driven home the “you’re nothing but a monster” mentality themselves, rather than leaving it for her to develop on her own out of her guilt. They could have neglected her, mistreated her, hell, they could have even cast her out into the cold, wolf infested woods and said “Have a nice life, witch!”. But they did not. They remained patient, and loving. They we shown to be trying, trying to help in whatever way they thought was best. It wasn’t always the best ways, but they didn’t know anything else. And you sure didn’t see those stupid trolls giving them any pointers. And the most obvious time we see this is moments before we never see them again:
Look at how supportive they are. How trusting and confident they are in their daughter when she can’t be in herself. How they both have that warm, reassuring look in their eyes that truly says that they mean it. The know Elsa will be fine. They know she can do this. They love her so much and they know she can do this.
And just like that they’re gone.
Elsa never hugged them goodbye.
Anna only said to them that she’ll see them in two weeks.
I know it’s been three years in universe since the deaths of the King and Queen, but given these two and, Elsa especially, how long they hold onto things that hurt them like that, I don’t think they should be as over it as it seems.
Let’s start with Anna.
Anna had the benefit of being able to actually touch her parents. She was able to rush up to them and throw her arms around them. She was able to interact with them in a casual and friendly manner - much more like a daughter and her parents. While they were probably very busy, they still likely had time set aside for her. They were kind, and loving. They always seemed to know best. They trusted her, and loved her. They were her family after her sister seemingly shut her out of her life. Then they die, taking every secret and everything they never told her with them. The only person left who knows anything is Elsa. And Anna won’t even find out that there are secrets until three years after their deaths. Until that point she still thinks of them the same as she always did, but after? She just found out they lied to her. For most of her life. Sure, she might have figured something was up when they kept making excuses up for Elsa, but how could Anna have possibly predicted the real secret? They didn’t trust her at all, at least not with information as vital as that. They may have been trying to keep her safe, but at what cost? Look at how messed up Elsa is, and their parents just let that happen?
But she can’t ask them about it. She can’t go racing up to them and demand why, just why any of this had to happen. She can’t yell at them for not trusting her, or for freaking Elsa out, or for even closing the gates in the first place. She can’t gain any closure from them, the people responsible for everything, ever again because they aren’t coming back. She can scream at their tombstones until she’s blue in the face but that won’t make a difference. Her parents aren’t even buried there.
Anna’s the kind of person who needs answers. After everything that has happened in her life, she needs that closure. But she’s not going to get it from them.
Elsa faces a similar issue, and an entirely different one. Elsa strikes me as the kind of person who would defend her parents’ actions ‘til the end. She thought the world of both of them, but especially her father. She spent most of her life trying so, so hard to be something he could be proud of, trying so hard in fact that she couldn’t even see that he was. Elsa wanted to be something worthy of her parents’ love, and she wore herself thin trying to be that, despite never comprehending that she actually had it. However that mentality came from somewhere, and that somewhere was the accident. For a brief moment Elsa saw fear of her in her parents’ faces. She saw panic and confusion where there shouldn’t be and knowing she was the cause of it. She heard the worry and disapproval in her father’s voice as he demanded, “Elsa, what have you done?” as he entered the ballroom that night. And Elsa never wanted to experience that again.
I don’t believe either Adgar or Idun blamed Elsa for anything, except for that one moment of raw emotion. In that one, tense moment, those words slipped out of Adgar’s mouth. But that one little slip up was enough. And Elsa has to ask herself how exactly she feels about it, because while they may never have done anything to outwardly cast blame on her again, they did have that moment. And that moment could arguably carry more weight because they were acting on instinct, then, and didn’t have the time to put any thought behind their words or actions. And when they did have the time, their solution was to run and hide from their problems.
Elsa needs to look back on her parents’ decisions and ask herself if it really was ok, if it really was for the best. Did they really think everything through, or were there more questions they could have asked but didn’t? Could things have been better had they acted differently? After all, it wasn’t until their deaths that Elsa allowed Anna back into her life. It wasn’t until they were gone that things eventually returned to a much happier state. Were they standing in the way of Elsa’s happiness?
These are all things I would love to see them address in the sequel. But I know they won’t because this shit is getting too depressing. But they could. I’m not sure how they could execute it, but they have a great opportunity to really build Elsa’s character and at the very least Adgar in a Mufasa-esque kind of way. I kind of see it being built in a similar fashion, where Elsa thought the world of him until certain events convinced her that he would look down on her in disapproval (in the Lion King it was Simba believing he killed his father; in Frozen it’d be after Elsa froze the entire kingdom over and ran away). Even after the Thaw, I imagine Elsa would still hold onto that fear of his disappointment, how despite him being dead she knows he wouldn’t have agreed with her actions back at her coronation and he must think pretty poorly of her at this point. She doesn’t want to really face any of the other issues, either, as reflecting on them only bring up painful memories and thoughts. Maybe she does harbour a bit of anger with him and her mother. Maybe she’s frustrated that they were always so patient with her despite believing that she didn’t deserve that. Maybe she slowly must come to the realization that they weren’t right.
But then maybe through something with Pabbie acting as Rafiki, she’s able to look back on her past and theirs and come to the realization that, despite their flaws and hers, they all loved each other, so, so much. If they even want to go full Lion King, have some kind of vision or magical experience where she can see them and talk to them, and maybe even get some closure from them.
My point being, I don’t really want this instance of Dead Disney Parents to really be swept under the rug for nothing but plot convenience. They have a chance to really develop some female characters’ relationships with their parents past the unconditional love, broken only by a spat about romantic interests, only to then be rekindled when said parent dies thing. Given how little screen time Adgar and Idun had versus how much weight they pulled in the movie, this isn’t something the writers should really ignore. They at least need to address it, in some fashion. Maybe Elsa still has nightmares, only these are about a snowy storm swallowing up a helpless ship in the ocean that looks too much like the one her parents left on. Maybe Anna notices little quirks her sister has that relate back to those thirteen years of separation and gets a fleeting moment of anger that her parents let it get as bad as it did. Just something that gets these characters talking about their dead fucking parents.
And who knows? We have a whole short coming up that looks like family tradition around the holidays will be a key feature. Maybe they’ll bring something up then? It would be really weird if they didn’t talk about it, considering Christmas is the season of family and friends and this one will be their first Christmas together again but not a family again because their parents have been dead for three years. (Which begs the question: just how miserable was that castle around this time of year before the coronation but after the King and Queen’s deaths?)
Another final point I’d like to make, as cheesy and overdone as it might be: Adgar and Idun supposedly died in a shipwreck. But there’s technically not really proof of that. We only see the ship hit a wave. Yes, I’m well aware the actual survivability of any shipwreck in a storm that violent is pretty much 0, let alone one set during a time when virtually no one actually knew how to swim but consider for a moment that it is Disney and people have survived worse. What then? I wrote something once about what would happen if Idun survived (which was technically going to be a two parter but I never got around to finishing the second half...maybe I’ll get back on that). But what if it was Adgar? Or both? How would our characters react to that? How would either parent react to that? I know it’s a bit of a stretch but it would create interesting conflict points for our characters. And honestly it’s not that much more overdone than the “character who has special powers has said special powers taken away by the bad guy” storyline. Which, I’m going to be honest, I’ll be surprised if that isn’t in the plot of Frozen 2.
More on that story arc in another post!

Idun & Horus
SEND ME 🤍 + A SHIP AND I’LL TELL YOU… [ VOL. 3 ] - accepting!
Who cooks meals for the other?
i'd say both of them. but if idun cooks, horus would make sure to do the cleaning.
Who spams the other with memes?
horus would! sending her random stuff just because he wants to share everything with idun.
Who likes to tidy around the house?
idun! cleaning is horus's least favourite thing to do but he would help out.
Who likes to play pranks on the other?
horus but then again, i feel like idun would play pranks just to get back at him.
Who asked the other to move in with them?
horusssssss.
Who is in charge of the music during a car ride?
none i would say. they'd listen to whatever is nice on the radio.
Who is more likely to tickle the other mercilessly?
horus!! he'd also try to tickle idun when she's upset about something.
Who needs to hold the other during scary movies?
none of them would but horus would hold her hand when the movie starts.
Who has to help the other when it comes to technology?
none. but if they can't figure it out, magic/powers would be their solution!
Who likes to get a bit frisky in public / an inappropriate setting?
at most, horus would sneak in a few kisses. he wouldn't do anything more to risk idun's image in public.
Who wakes up first, and do they wake up the other or let them rest?
probably horus and he'd gently wake idun up as they both have duties to do.
Who is always taking pictures of the other when they aren’t looking?
i'd say horus! and printing the nicest/most memorable ones in large canvas frames.
Who always forgets their wallet and never ends up paying for anything?
doesn't apply to them. neverrrrr.
Who can’t sleep because the other snores or moves too much at night?
i would say none. horus is a quiet sleeper and i think idun would be the same.
Who is better at video games, and do they let the other win or show no mercy?
maybe idun but horus would try his best to win so the goddess better watch out!
Who always gets up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and accidentally wakes up the other?
both of them? they would even go to the restroom together, taking turns to do their business and going back to bed together.

The Almighty Johnsons - S2E2 Deleted Scene
In this scene, Ty is leaving Anders's flat after having found Dawn there, passed out on the couch with 3 open wine bottles. (This was all Agentha's idea - she told Dawn to test them out, and then talked to Anders, who called Ty and told him to check on Dawn.) Agnetha is in his van by surprise and he calls her out for setting this whole thing up. She encourages him to leave Eva and pursue Dawn because Dawn actually loves him.
Why I'm sad this scene was cut:
IMO, it better illustrates that Agentha genuinely wants Ty to be happy than some of the other scenes in this season meant to convey this. I remember the first time I watched S2 wondering if she was just trying to break Ty and Eva up because of other reasons and not worry over Ty. I don't love the way she talks about "claiming" Dawn in one part of this scene. I do think that it's nice to want your kid to be with someone who loves him, but I think Ty is right that Agentha is more using Dawn as a means to an end than actually being concerned about what's best for Dawn, so I really liked him calling her out on it. It really shows how he cares for her. I also really liked Ty calling his mom out on leaving! The boys don't get enough acknowledgement/apology from their parents about how shitty they were as parents. It's often like it is in this scene, where it's sort of brought up, and not really defended but also no real repenting happens either. Just sort of "that is what happened". BUT, I also loved her labeling Ty and Eva's relationship as abusive, and praising Ty for how he tried to help her when Joe was abusive. I actually think this might be the most genuine display of motherly love/care Agnetha shows (maybe that's why they cut it? She was too sympathetic?). Her saying that she believes that Ty will find the strength to end things was kind, and I hope that she believed it when she said that she and the boys would be behind Ty when he did. ALSO, the next scene we see Ty in, in the actual episode, he's still sitting in his van and he happens to see Dawn take out the recycling. That scene, without this before it, makes it seem like Ty just sat outside the flat for a bit like a stalker (not out of the question) but with this context, it seems more like he just happened to still be there because of the Agnetha convo.
Why I think it's okay this scene was cut: I wonder if they thought this scene might undermine the impact of the flashbacks to the abuse that we get in the next episode? Much of the information is conveyed in that scene as well.
Another issue I have with the scene is that it may give viewers the impression that Hel/Hod is just like any other god and goddess pairing, but since these two are god-spouses, I think the pull between them is a lot stronger than Agnetha is giving credit for. I think her character just doesn't know this, but we later see evidence of the gods overruling their vessels' desires in how Anders is with both Iduns and even Hanna with Mike vs Axl (more on this one in a later post I'm sure, but in one scene Hanna says that the goddess always wins, which is why she must go name Axl as Odin even though she wants to be with Mike). The pull between gods and goddesses is always strong, but it seems overwhelmingly so in god-spouses, to the point of destruction. So in a way, though Agnetha is trying to encourage Ty to leave Eva for his own sake, I think Hod's desire to be with Hel is stronger than she realizes. When he says "I have to do this" I think that's what he means, and not that he's referring to the contract from the end of S1. Also there just seems to be some continuity issues with this scene. It's very clearly sunny when he's in the flat with Dawn, and then it's dark and raining already by the time he gets outside? Also where are the bins? Dawn is shown interacting with them outside the door but they're not in these shots. Not that this matters at all, just an observation, lmao.
