I rushed home when I realized the time

and saw 5 unread texts and you’re angry tone.

I wanted to make it up to you,

I almost got a ticket speeding in a 25 zone.

I called, you answered, and we sat there in silence, 

a 4 hour Skype call of coughs, chair squeaks, and silence.

The loudest thing in that call was the silence.

My mouth, the call, your thoughts; all silent.

Matters of the Heart

The foul stench of two day old skale flesh permeated her nostrils as she puts the final stitches on her latest minion. Kass sits down, looking at the latest monstrosity as she takes another swig of the bottle, hands covered in blood. Why the hell am I so scared? 

She looks at the newly crafted fiend on the table, lifeless. She had been working on this day and night over the past few days, taking breaks every so often to go to her shift or to talk with a friend. She coughs, the smell finally getting to her, taking another large swig to try to make her forget it. I’ve done so much in my life, not once flinchin’. This...this is so much different. 

She stands, nearly falling over the table. She takes a deep breath, immediately regretting it as she takes in a lungful of the odor. She tries to compose herself, beginning her chant. Her hands light up with green magic, placing them over the minion. C’mon, ya lump of bones, git up. Ya can’t take away my thoughts away, but I’ll find some use fer ya. A tightness in her chest begins to form, causing her to hunch over, the tether she had created seemingly draining more from her than she intended. She tries to stop it, to cease the flow going into the minion. Before she can react the tether snaps and a flash of light blinds her, knocking her to the ground. The last thing she remembers is Bubbles standing over her.
