Every second of every day I remind myself that I'm going to need to learn to draw gore and body horror and every second of everyday I simply keep imagining it instead of drawing it because I don't even wanna try finding usable refs for the shit I wanna pull off (it also doesn't help that searching up refs for skinless human anatomy is. Annoying to do if you wanna draw someone who isn't made of muscle and nothing else)

catchphrases in nuwho

so i was thinking about the many catchphrases the doctor has gone through in nuwho and thought they kinda all have a little meaning. heads up, this is gonna sound like im way overthinking things lol. also, idk how much of this has been said before, im sure some of it has at least.

to start off, the ninth doctor uses the word "fantastic" as a catchphrase. hes very enthusiastically happy about a lot of things, saying it super easily. for me, this feels like a way of coping. hes just gotten out of the time war, and, as far as hes aware, destroyed his own home in order to save the rest of the universe. he desperately needs whats left to be fantastic in order for his actions to be justified.

then we have ten, using "allons-y", which, as we all know by now, is french for "let's go". by the time he becomes the tenth doctor, hes back to his old ways; travelling around with a human companion, fixing problems throughout the universe. it makes sense that hed be excited to run around and feel like how he used to before the time war. it being in french also adds a feeling of him not really caring about the differences between cultures, holding everyone in the universe to the same standard.

eleven goes back to just using one word, this time "jeronimo". imo, this kinda just signifies his general attitude of just jumping into problems with no real regard for his own safety or what the consequences may be for him. its also a word thats less frequently used in media, therefore making him seem just a little out of touch with humanity.

twelve doesnt ever use a catchphrase, which still kinda says a lot. right before regenerating, he was finally ready and willing to die, but he had to stay around. hes far too miserable about still having to exist to appreciate the little happiness that might come from having a little catchphrase. he instead just talks super poetically and from the heart, choosing to use a lot of words to get his point across properly this time.

thirteen doesn't have a catchphrase per se, but she uses the words "brilliant" and "fam" anough that they kinda serve as like a pseudo-catchphrase. i think shes still not too happy about having to keep existing longer than a timelord is supposed to, and, kinda like nine, her "catchphrases" are just her clinging to little things that make her happy in spite of that.

after finally healing and getting to a good place mentally through fourteen "doing rehab out of order", fifteen doesnt really have a catchphrase, but he does call people "honey" quite a lot. this ones fairly simple, hes just happy, and naturally views the people in his life as people he could be close to, automatically addressing them with familiarity. hes always done that to a degree, but, now that hes in a good place, its even more normal for him.

anyway thats my understanding of it all. in conclusion, theres a lot of cool storytelling in just little catchphrases that the doctor uses, even if its just me watching it and making it up lmao. if you have a different interpretation of anything, feel free to tell me.

marci mostly uses instagram and its a mess... i barely follow any drivers but ive noticed they almost always got a certain aesthetic they try to keep up and well. marci dgaf. theyd try to put some color grading filter on the first photo in his dumps so at least theres some harmony to his page but its atrocious

he obviously has an official account on every other site but its usually for stuff his management posts on there (and an empty tiktok profile where his reposts are public. surely nothing weird or suspicious to see)

back to press and shit... hes not a fan 🧍‍♂️ he prefers the scripted stuff and when he can have like three takes to say something cause when its just him and twenty cameras broadcasting live... he still gets nervous and then the accent slips in and he stumbles his speeches and words things in a way people could twist what he said around easily (moment of silence and empathy for little lando norris). hes a small scale driver so the world doesnt hang on every word he says but yknow how it is

There's also the added fact that it does take a bit to earn philza's trust and forever has that trust. So to him he sees forever is clearly not himself and he knows how MUCH HE LOVES Tallulah and would never ever purposely hurt her. So something's wrong with forever obviously. And of COURSE he wants to help out forever back together again.

Like when he told tubbo we help forever and then said he would expect tubbo to help phil if he was ever in this position shows so much about phils character to me. Like u help each other so hearing someone u trust doing something as quick as killing him would freak me out lol.

Sent ramon into a panic to the point man's PUT ON HIS ARMOR. he himself believes that the island would turn on him immediately if he did something wrong. So if course he would think the same if someone lost it AND HURT THE CHILDREN. he went into purgatory with the only thought of helping the children, and questioning why the other islanders forgot that the point of this. He even said himself that he would choose his godchildren anyway over fred. NoW HIS DAUGHTER IS IN THE MIX. AND ITS NOT EVEN THE FEDS GOING AFTER THE KIDS ITS ONE OF THEIR OWN.

So of course!!! To tubbo the only choice for forever is to kill him so he himself doesn't hurt the eggs again. For any of the islanders the idea of hurting the children even if they were the victim would probably ruin him.

I agree with both yes we should help forever but i agree with tubbo a bit more if forever is so possessed with whatever that hes going after the children???? Kill him, jail prison, lock him away.

And phil expecting for tubbo to help him if he was ever in the same position but tubbo made a promise to care for his godchildren if phil was ever in a place were he couldnt tubbo would fucking kill him.

Idk I really liked the fight shows the difference between the characters and specifically how tubbo changed as a character.

hell always show up to the shows you will host. at first , he will seat in the back , so you dont notice him. but with a little bit of time , you will always spot him easily in the front rows , but he has too much pride to admit it. half of it , he will say ena dragged him with her. but what about the times he shows up alone? when theres no big sister , or no extra ticket from kohane?

if you figure it out tho , hed gladly accept any ticket you give him. doesnt matter if general or backstage access — your performances are moments that he holds close to him , outside of RAD WEEKEND.

and even if it seems like he doesnt care — he will always cheer on you from the sidelines.

*sighs loudly* so i Was going to draw them but turns out my own design is too difficult for me to draw. but i'll be making this post anyway bc this au has been cooking for so long i might as well!

Featherless Flight AU

aka dca avian au where these fucks r BIRDS

(disclaimer this is a sun x moon au. it also deals with heavy themes such as child abuse, death, violence, and. ya know. wutever tws come with the apocalypse (also these will not be talked about in detail in this post))

nothing robotic in them. just feathers, blood, and bones. a lot of that stuff may be lost or break throughout their story! but lemme at least tell u wut they look like (without having my own drawings OTL (i only have a ref for their faces (which im not confident of)))

a quick note for both of their designs, they r both Fully Covered in feathers, including their arms and faces (yes they have arms And wings). the only places that dont have feathers is their lower legs and hands. they have anthropomorphic legs. and their face shape is also similar to a barn owl, as shown here (ignore the lack of mouths, idk wut to give them)

suns design! he has the coloring and general design of a sun conure. hes full of bright reds and yellows, tho the green is replaced with a bit of blue. he has multiple crests around his head that fluff up similar to a cockatiel but theyre in a way that make it look like rays. in the drawing above is wut they look like without their crests raised; that is their default. suns feet r grasping feet which r 2 toes in the front and 2 in the back. sun has high speed wings so aes a lot faster. (if u dont know wut any of this means i recommend u look it up, im a bird nerd) sun is also specifically an omnivore (them having different diets is actually plot relevant)

moons design next. moon is the color of a hyacinth macaw tho his anatomy is closer to an owl. he has one large crest on his head like a cockatoo. its also colorblind! since its anatomy is based mainly off of owls, for moons ability to see at night means he can see less colors. and bc hes more sensitive at night his eyes r always half closed in light, making it look sleepy despite being fully awake. moon has raptor feet with 3 toes in the front and 1 in the back. xis claws r also much larger than suns. moon has passive soaring wings which is better for longer flights. and moon is a carnivore :)

theres also an eclipse but their design is an enigma to me even in my own mind

but back to sun and moon! if anyone is curious moon uses he/it/xe pronouns while sun uses he/it/ae pronouns. they r both aroace and love each other deeply (qpr babyyyyy). sun is genderfluid while moon doesnt give a shit (agender).

sun is more bubbly and energetic. very much high energy bouncing off the walls. hes the kind of optimist where u cant tell if their "bright side"s r trying to help or be condescending. its a master at back handed compliments. heavily a perfectionist and will reach the point of screaming fits if wut he doesnt isnt perfect. ae has a lot of self image issues. ae hides a lot of aers lack of self confidence and doubt behind a wall of "im the best", tho that wall can crash very easily. a bit of a flirt, but mainly bc he just enjoys seeing how ppl react. he takes compliments from everyone but moons compliments r always the best

moon is lower energy and calmer. at least, he acts like it. hes more reserved and if it wasnt for sun he wouldnt have any friends or talk to ppl at all. he fears abandonment and sun is the only person who has stayed with him this whole time and is the only person he truly trusts. is very aggressive towards anyone it doesnt know. despite being shorter than sun (hes 6ft while sun is 7ft) it definitely does a good job at intimidating ppl. over time when xe becomes comfortable with someone xe will eventually calm down and show a bit of a softer side to them. when xes actually calm and likes someone xe can be a bit... chaotic :)

im honestly not sure where ill start their story since ive already thought about their childhood but i also wanna write about their adulthood as well. the story of their childhood mainly deals with the abuse they went through, then with adulthood theyre shoved into an apocalypse bc... y not :) (btw the apocalypse is mainly just bc ive been enjoying apocalypse aus a Lot lately and wanna write one. the child abuse is for their development and to show y they act the way they do. while it will be fun to write their development, i am by no means saying abuse is okay and this topic will be treated carefully and seriously.)

thank you for a very in depth response! i totally got what you meant its like he cant alter his actions to be as he wants which is the opposite of how he really is, phew that was a mouthful but yeah i can totally see him being on way when he wants another thing entirely to be different for him.

i wonder then does he find idol lifestyle quite lonely? he seems generally insecure and i think the members know this but still nitpick at him for varied things u mentioned awhile ago he has an explosive personality do u think thatll affect his chances of having a healthy lasting relationshio / his own family? i mean if hes been an idol for so long and lets even the smallest things bother or affect him yknow how hurt people hurt others im just saying hes got to kinda get some thick skin eventually. otherwise it might not be for him even tho his heart wants kids i dont think he'd be mentally well enough just yet. idk i could be exagerating but i look at some idols and think if they arent in a relationship are they on the more toxic side of things? cause people really like to paint idol as being innocent

For his explosive personality question - i think it just really depends on the person he's with. For example me? I don't mind people with explosive personalities, i myself am like that. What i mind tho is the idol life. Someone else might be the exact opposite of me. And yk at the end of the day love & attachment play a big role.

And if considering his energy alltogether in relation to long term relationships i don't even think that explosiveness will really be a problem for him there - rather than that i think his high & even unrealistic expectation will be a major problem. Him idolizing his partner and putting them on a pedestal. Expecting perfection from them cuz thats how they are in his head. And we all know theres no perfection in this life, so.... Another thing i think will be a problem is his nagging. I see him not being able to easily let go of things, since he is so deep in his perception, i think one problem would have to be talked iver and over again and he wouldn't be able to easily let go of something that hurt or angered him cuz it has to be resolved from the roots, not just superficially. Like whatever happens, i roots deep in his system and it would have to take a very experienced, psychologically, emotionally aware person that excels in communication & has the will and patience to deal with him to actually work through problems. Now mind you this isn't something confirmed by tarot, but rather my own take on the clues I've gathered from readings & observation.

In short - he has his flaws of course, like all of us, but i think he is a person thats introspective and ready to listen, work on himself and improve. He also looks like someone who isn't afraid to invest effort & and time when he thinks its worth it. And i think thats a very important thing for everyone!

I don't think once he finds his person he'll have many struggles within himself or even within the relationship. I believe struggles will come more from the outside than from inside.

bc i saw this one comic that just... perfectly described zolu and the strawhats to me? it was about law catching zolu and then discussing with the other strawhats about it and they explained that luffy does in fact love everyone equally and the same. for luffy, romantic nor platonic is Not a thing to him. (this is how i view luffy's aroaceness !! love isnt a category for him. love isnt something he could just pick and choose or whatever. love is just... loving someone. love is for the people very dear to him.) and in the comic, the strawhats say that zoro's the one and only guy who could keep up with luffy's energy and antics. so they dont mind the things they do together in privacy or in front of them. they know how much luffy loves them ALL EQUALLY and they all love him back

on topic of zolu and aroace... i've been around spaces and talked to a few zolu shippers (qpr shipping count) and noticed how many of us are at least on the aro/ace spectrum. there's just Something about zolu's special relationship that attracts us, and if you ship them and are aro/ace, im certain you'd agree. (even if you arent, we can mutually agree that they are a third thing, right?) like, theres something so... aroace about their relationship. they can be seen as romantic and they can be seen as platonic, but what can be absolutely certain is that their relationship is definitely queer. bc it's not something you can easily describe or that their relationship is The Norm. theyre insane for each other. luffy's the sun. zoro's the moon. luffy's a good. zoro's the king of hell. they complete each other. they absolutely need each other.

my memory is horrible and i cant say the words properly but basically: zolu's love and relationships transcends romance and platonically. yes you can see it as either, but as an aroace, i Feel it is way beyond that.

and again, will repeat it a million times over (mind you, it's not canon. it's a widely accepted HEADCANON. if you think luffy's sexuality is something else, thats cool): i believe that luffy's aroaceness is way beyond "not interested in attraction/xyz/whatever" like yeah, he doesn't think about it because it doesnt matter much to him. he doesnt apply whats romantic or platonic to HIS relationships. he can recognize romantic, sexual, platonic things. it's just not his thing to really think hard about (he doesnt think much in the first place (affectionage)) he feels love for the people he cares about and if they feel loved by him, however he approaches the love (and if they accept that kind of form) thats all that matters to him. he doesnt label/categorize love because it makes no sense to Him to prioritize someone over the other just bc he loves that someone a different way. he loves everyone equally and treats them as equals.

and when it comes to Any luffy ships, calling his significant other "partner" is what fits best. theyre not just best friends, theyre partners.

is it just me or does gamedev youtube kinda suck? like, its all the most generic sounding people making uninteresting indie games and having nothing super interesting to say. like idk, maybe its just me. the only people who i really like are randy and miziziziz, but even some of miziziziz's stuff leans toward generic indie stuff, hes just different enough in attitude and method that i can watch him. everyone else just feels so samey.

nobody's doing anything that feels original. like yeah they all have their great ideas and such, but theres nothing interesting going on.

i have this theory about how we think about our creative projects. as humans, we naturally make categories for things. we do it for everything. it helps us process things. when we make art, we either start with an idea from a category or genre and expand from there, for fit the idea into a category or make something specific of that category. it feels like gamedev youtube is just making things to fit the "game" shaped hole

I kinda feel this way with indie games as a whole. like in the 2000's and 2010's all of the sudden it became super easy for individuals and small teams to make games, and they fucking ran with that. then later on in the 2010's and 2020's we formed this idea of what "indie game" means and started making "indie games", and its dragged innovation to a halt.

maybe im just salty because im super picky with what i like but i seriously think that there is so much more that we could be doing as a whole that a lot of people dont see.

I was watching this video essay about detention (a game by the same people who made that game that got banned because it had whinnie the pooh as xi jinping) and the essayist was talking about games that have similar energy to silent hill. he brought up signalis, and admitted that he thought the game was similarly good, but said that it wasn't as great because it was clear that it was inspired by/a spiritual successor to silent hill, and that detention fit his criteria for "silent hill like game" not because it tried to be silent hill, but because it was just as good as doing the same things as silent hill

this is where i think indie games fall flat; it feels like everyone is trying to make something like another game, instead of doing something new that is also great. I understand that inspiration is one thing, and that not all spiritual successors are bad, but it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth when I can really easily tell what the a game wanted to be, but didnt end up being.

I tried to word that kind of broadly, because not all of the games i dislike try to emulate one game or a specific set of games, but some seem like they try to emulate a certain style of art or game that they cant do.

I just thing that we need to learn to move on from the past and make new things that are great.

Another gripe I have with gamedev youtube is that they come up with game ideas that fit labels. whenever i see a devlog video they always introduce their game as a set of itch.io tags. I know this is good for like publicity or whatever, but their game ideas are entirely based around these boxes that we need to think outside of; labels come second.

Look at doom for example. It's possibly the greatest game of all time. When it came out in 1993, nobody called it like we did now because they didn't have the term "first person shooter". In ahoy's video on what genre is doom, he shows that it was advertised as a virtual reality action game. That term is wayyy worse at describing what doom is, but thats because doom was so different than other games.

ok!! noritsune route post!! my silly! i have GOT to draw this guy. idk when ill get around to it but. i love his design sm.

as usual, spoiler warnings for noritsune’s route in birushana under the cut!

okokok!! first off, i wanted to talk about how much hes matured as a person and how his character develops throughout his route because i feel like thats the thing i thought of the most. like, he started out only seeing things through the lense of the heike, the towards the end he has a much broader perspective of the world and really considers his place in it. and like, he grew up being compared to shanao a lot because they were the same age and in similar positions in their respective clans, and bc he is very competitive, he was determined to fight her and sorta prove his worth in a way. atleast thats how i read that bit. 

then when he DOES fight her for a moment, and later gets to talk with her for a minute, he really sees their similarities and grows to like her, even if he still wants to duel with her. then of course theres how once he hears shanao talk about wanting to be seen as herself, and not only under the guise of genji or heike, he understands how she feels, and later accepts being disowned very easily and just leaves. then after seeing shanao again in hiraizumi and she saves him, he returns to the heike and takes care of his responsibilities. 

plus!!! when they met again in battle he wanted to fight her and there was that whole scene where he says shes running away from fighting him. interesting i think. and after that, when they were in kyoto trying to help the villagers while yoshinakas army was looting everything, and he said he wouldnt let her die until he could properly duel her. im sobbing. or in that same scene how he was explaining how hes ever felt so close and so similar to another person????? it really seems like at this point, he cant admit to himself that he actually just really cares about her, so he justifies the duel as a way to stay near her. 

then of course theres the last fight on the boats, he was fully ready to die during his fight with shanao before they had left. 

idk, i feel like his whole dynamic with shanao is super interesting where he originally didnt like her because of how often they were compared to each other, then he realized how similar they actually were, how much he could relate to her, and how she was actually a very good person and he cared for her a lot. i feel like this especially helped him mature and develop. 

and not only was noritsunes dynamic with shanao super interesting, the romance aspects of the route were really sweet. like!!! when the children wanted to dress up shanao like a princess!!! and noristune comes back and gets all jealous cause other people got to see her like that before he did!!! and he asks her to stay and live with him after the war!!

also!! shanao has become one of my favourite mcs idc if ive only finished one route so far she means everything to me. like she starts off only sorta seeing things from a black and white perspective, then once she sees yoshinakas army looting kyoto, and the heike children, and grows to really care about noritsune, she sees that there are bad people who are part of the genji clan, and that there are good people within the heike. and she comes to realize that all she really wants is to help people. she really just wants everyone to be okay. idk this is just such a well written aspect of her character imo, and i really respect this.

kaiji part 4 is so one of my favorite death games PERIOD like outside of its kaiji context the arc does something i havent seen anything else do.. kaiji, the protag, isnt playing the game hes forced to only spectate it and comment on it. and so is the calculating antagonist! and that take on the 3rd party commentators is one of the only good examples of it ive seen (usogui is another good example) in opposition to how liar game does it (and everything else that copied it)

CAUSE ok my rules are

1. ur narration should, as much as possible, be from someone IN the gamble. what do i care what someone not in the game THINKS, MAYBE, is the gamblers' motivations? let the gamblers speak for themselves- about each other and about themselves. let THEM lie.

2. if u do have outside commentators, that commentary needs to ADD something and it CANNOT be stuff thats just thrown away later. example: in liar game the commentators will tell u "this gambler did this for that reason" and that turns out to be WRONG. so on a reread u remember thats literally not true and can easily skip the pages and not lose any information. thats very bad.

im OK w narration (from outside and inside the game) misleading you- its the bread & butter of gambling fiction. but that has to ADD something. it cannot just be clutter and lies. theres a great example of the ref lying to the audience in usogui but i cant get into it w no spoilers so trust me i do love it when the narration lies to my face sometime. cuz it adds meaning to a text!!!

AND THATS what part 4 is about. the gambler protag is forbidden from playing (at times literally tied up!!!) and its allllllllll about the biases of narration and commentary. its about kazuya literally FICTIONALIZING this. hes writing a book from this!!!! and kazuya seeing everything through his "friendship is fake" lense, kaiji seein the same thing as PROOF trust & friendship r real... the players backstories being inserted at the most impactful moment, the ways kazuya lies to the players without technically~~ lying and so on. the question at the heart of the game: is friendship more valuable than money? is not even answered properly because of kazuyas manipulation AND of kaijis interference. the commentators are pulled back into the game- they are playing, too. may they want it or not theyre part of this "experiment", of this fiction. you, sir, are a space too- we live in a society.?

and as u pointed out theres an omnipresence of water imagery in the arc and this is kazuya projecting his own subconscious into it. this is kind of like what jigsaw does in saw 1 hes recreating his trauma and putting people in that situation to see how THEY cope so he can know what hes supposed to do too. (cause emotionally he lived his diagnosis like a saw trap. so hes putting other people in this death sentence to, yes, cope.)

kazuya lived his drowning like a choice everyone on the boat made to save someone else instead of him, so hes putting other people in a situation to choose between someones life and something else to see what THEY do. and, of course, they have to reenact that betrayal he felt or his trauma isnt just "how the world is, trust and friendship are fake" but actually something that was wrong with him. the game does not exist without him reliving his childhood through it. theres no story without the spectator, the camera, the voyeur.

& kaiji is reliving his own gambles! "theres no way theyll betray each other" because if trust & friendship arent real then all of HIS betrayals were just him being a fucking idiot. what grace and virtue is there in forgiving the one who stabbed you in the back if it turns out thats just human nature to be selfish. if its not the death game making people act unlike their true selves then kaijis just some mark who got scammed over and over again lol...

like all good death games, the game stands for something. in part 1 its capitalism (and most of the time in kaiji its this, work, money, addiction, class) and in part 4 too you see this rich japanese man exploit poor immigrants for entertainment and thats what the game is, but its also (childhood) trauma. "they wont kill each other because me and the 45ers, me and the guys on the steel beams, we didnt." and "emotionally, this was like being strapped to a chair and seeing my trusted one walk to the button, and kneel, and apologize, and cry, and not release me. and watch me die."

yeah hes bi i dont know what else to say he and mally are in love frfr i actually just completely made up bigender. made it up, i dont know where i got it from i just remember early february drawing mad t party on my laptop and suddenly thinking “bigender thackery” and its stuck with me since then. (the two genders i hc him with are male/female though so) i wouldnt say he feels just one or the other, he feels both at the same time

haha this is mostly because of @thatrandomartistjavi's hcs xd chessur is special in the sense that hes the only mtp character that never really gets a chance to flirt with anyone else since hes always hiding behind that drumset. from what ive seen he was shipped with dinah a lot, presumably just cuz theyre both cats since they rarely interact, so ive never really understood it :p i usually hc cheshire cats as nonbinary/something under that umbrella but this guy gives me transgender vibes. idk

absolem/ladypillar(? dont know if she ever got a real name): lesbian & trans

shes very much a lesbian. just. just like yeah. i think the most prominent character that she flirts with (other than alice) is mally. from what ive seen it only really happens when its el dormouse on stage but before i started seeing that i always saw mally/absolem/thackery as like, a trio. i mean obviously everyone in the band are friends, but idk. i have lots of drawings of those three hanging out so maybe thats just something my delusional brain has completely made up. but anyway the point is i dont ship those two and i sort of see them with a more sibling dynamic. mally always holds her back when shes trying to touch the little castle music box thing, at the end of sets he’ll pull her antennae to take her off stage/she'll pull him by his scarf, etc. (also theres a clip where she kisses him on the cheek and as they begin to walk off stage she turns to the crowd and mouths “no” and does the throat slitting gesture thing which makes me think theyre sorta just playing around :p)

sooo in a post a while back i said i hc her as genderfluid but ive changed my mind?? actually before i made that post i headcanoned her as trans but then switched to genderfluid and now ive uhh changed my mind again. im very indecisive like that and very easily swayed on my opinions haha,,, @ticktockteapot's metaphor for her “becoming the beautiful butterfly she was always meant to be” is very nice i like it lots. also the fact that ladypillar has a much higher stage presence than absolem (obviously not including the spiderwebs number…or crazypillar) was always so sweet to me cuz like,,,aw shes finally more comfortable being herself and performing :’)

o also now that ive finished my main party's stories here are my initial review <- not very structured and possibly wrong

ochette: her character and story play into a lot of indigenous stereotypes and her being the darkest-skinned character does not help that. i really like her design and gameplay and even a lot of her story/character but its just impossible to look past that because its most of it.

particio: unfortunately as someone from Cowboy Country i have a worm in my brain that makes me like him a lot. his story is paint by numbers "The Wrong Capitalists Are In Charge" which gets pretty irritating, however i still had a lot of fun with it and his character and also the final boss fight is my second favorite so far because holy shit you have to fight a train and it has the same battle mechanic as the final boss of ot1 that is so funny

throné: her character is really undercut by her being the Designated Sexy One which is just frustrating because unlike primrose i really like her and i want her to be allowed to be interesting. she's good most of the time and the story is pretty close to being good but she's not really allowed to develop as a character at all and a lot of it feels like she's just being led around by the story so she can stand there while people exposit at her about her family background which she and i am annoyed by everyone demanding she take seriously and then a boss fight happens. also her character design is the worst of all the protagonists which is stupid because the thief outfit is not difficult to make cute which i know because they did it in 1. you could say her not having much of a character outside of not wanting to be an assassin is because her trauma and situation prevents her from being allowed to develop a life outside of her desire for freedom and the theme of her story is that you can never really "escape" therefore is not bad characterization but thats a boring answer which makes for a climax that feels weak on accident instead of being bittersweet on purpose and especially since ot2 has characters interacting with each other i want the more fleshed out version of when a couple of the ot1 characters talk with therion about what his life could have been like if he had been in their profession instead where you get a glimpse of what his life could have been and might eventually be(where's the crossed paths where casttia recognizes that as an assassin she knows a lot about anatomy and offers to train her as an apothecary and theres a line about her finally getting used to the scent of blood when she's treating someone's wound and that family connection thing was elaborated on by giving her a mentor figure who actually cares about her. where's the crossed paths where ochette teaches her how to hunt for food and forage for raspberries and throné gets to experience being a part of the natural circle of life instead of feeling like she's only ever allowed to destroy things. wheres the crossed paths where particio and she finally go on that shopping trip and she gets a fun new outfit). idk this is the one im least sure about but at the end of her story i just ended up feeling disappointed

casttia: oooouug. i need to print out a picture of her and eat it. easily the strongest story and the one that uses the game's mechanics in by far the most interesting way(the first time she inquires about an important memory both actually jumpscared me and made me realize that this game might be Good good). i love her she is so cool. while i saw very few of the twists coming all of them made sense in hindsight and were satisfying. also i love her final boss fight so fucking much it is the best the second i was introduced to the rain i was like "fuck i hope this is the same mechanic as the ogre eagle rainbow toxin in alfyn's chap4" AND IT WAS and also the final scene where she realizes what the recipe is for the cure... ouuuugh. [high compliment] her story feels like the people who wrote alfyn had 5 years to develop and more deeply explore the ideas they had for his story and found ways to use the game mechanics to portray it much more interestingly. i dont have that much to say here because it's just good i just like it.

i feel now is a good time to note that i play this game like. lying on the couch w/ the mouse on like. my leg or wherever theres room so the control system making moving around a bit annoying. i did not choose a great first room bcs having to go between the 4 rooms was stupid annoying when im horrible at scrolling. howeverit is like. vaccines bcs now i am prepared for all future occurances

i am 100% certain this game is in some part digital and if i am wrong i will draw. fanart of Hongou dying in a glue trap. that is a promise.

alice... i mean... it is interesting right, that its so direct about do you trust them. and we couldnt coordinate ahead of time. bcs as it were it's 12 times easier to trust everyone in this game than the last! fundementally, we could all escape and everything could be so great if we all decided to work together, ya know? thats the tricky part then i guess. cause i know they wont bcs video game but like. we could so easily! in 999 that second inital 9 door was a gut punch, but here the door looms there and it just. laughs at me.

Escape The Night AU/Scenario

They open the door with a creak.

"This is... empty." Ivan looks from the back of the rest whilst Den coughs.

"Oh god what the hell-" She continues coughing as Curt pats her back. Christian walks into the dark room, a paper in hand.

"Wow, this is..." Kristine follows his lead, a flashlight in her hand. It illuminates alan unkempt stage, bar area and multiple seats and tables.

"Is this it?"

"Looks like it. Its an abandoned speakeasy." Curt holds another flashlight, it pointing to something on the stage. It seems to be an upside down pyramid shaped... Thing. The bottom is bent to look like its suctioning the wood it stand on. Though, it looks more like a wine glass now that she thinks about it...

"There! Thats the artifact!" Den state the obvious as she runs up to it, trying to snatch it from the pedestal its placed on.

"Wait, dont touch it yet! You wont know what it does." Curt easily catches up to her.

"Why not? I dont want to go do another voting thingy! Ill just take it, easy!" She faces towards him whilst walking back to the artifact before turning to it hastily, easily getting it out of its place. Nothing happens. Kristines looks around the place curiously.

"Thats... Easy-" The sudden round of jazz music made her jump. What she doesnt notice is Christian getting the paper.

"At least this tells us what to do..." Amongst the music, his voice just sounds like a second echo.

"Ugh, could that music just STOP already?!" Ivans dreads as he covers his ears.

"Den, place it back!" Christian turns to her, whos shaking the artifact.

"Ooh, theres alcohol in here..." Den tries to open it by herself, which, proves to not budge.

"DEN!" Now she can hear his voice.

"Uh, huh?"

"PLACE IT BACK THERE!" Den... Looks away from him. "Oh my GOD. DEN."

"Fine, fine...." She places it back on the pedestal, and the music stops. Everyone gives a sigh of relief.

"Fucking finally I can read this, ahem...

'Before you is the artifact you are looking for. Sadly, it is incomplete and will need some ingredients to complete the cocktail. This place is full of-' POISON GAS?! WHAT THE FUCK?! 'and the cocktail will provide the cure. But first,'"

A light from above shines onto a box on the table.

"Oh shit, uh, 'Two people will have to volunteer themselves.'

Now what the hell does that mean?"

"We wont know until after it happens."

"Then why dont you do it, Ivan?"

"Oh my god you two are handcuffed." Ivan looks on with surprise. "So, what do we do now?" Everyone looks over to Christian, though nervous ftom hearing other footsteps from inside. Christian takes a deep breath in...

"RUN." And sprints out the front door with a cheeky grin.

"Hey, what the-"

"Bitch!"

"I am not going to make it..."

"You literally have me with you, Kris-" Gunshots quickly sound the room.

"OH GOD IS THIS A CHASE SEQUENCE?!" Ivan decides to run after Christian, wherever hes gone through. Den goes to the back door, surprisingly not getting hit. Kristine has multiple questions in her mind before being carried away from the scene because of Curt.

"PUT ME DOWN, PUT ME DOWN, PUT ME DOOOWN!" She could probably hear him laughing at this.

She doesnt know how long hes running for.

"Are we safe, Kristine?"

"Looks like it, can you put me down no-"

"Not yet."

"Come on... What are we supposed to find, anyways?"

"Itd probably be noticable, but I think... Ingredients? What can you think?"

"Something like... Lime? Other alcohol stuff?"

"Oh, maybe that clinic over there. We could probably find something there... Maybe..?"

"Alright..." She gets finally put down as they both go inside...

"Oh. So this is it." Before them is a table with three bottles in a clear glass, visibly in different colors: red, blue, and yellow. They both walk forward and grab the paper.

"Find the color Brown." Kristine

"Damn, I know... Nothing about this."

"Me too! Do we just... Mix it all together? Then just chug it."

"Were not supposed to chug it, Kristine."

"I know, I know!

"Oh my god..." Kristine giggles. "Why am i with you?"

"Yep, thats brown! Ill keep it." Kristine hands over the mixture to Curt, keeping it in his pocket.

"Oh yea, that artifact needs... Four ingredients, right? Those four compartments?"

"Good eye." They were interrupted by a gunshot.

Kristine looks out, despite her doubts. "Den..?"

Den holds out a gun in one hand, artifact in the other. She eyes around for anyone else.

"DEN!" She says again whilst runs out, before hearing a thud. "Oh. Sorry Curt." He looks back at her, inconvenienced. The two look back to run over to her.

"Hey! We got something!" Curt alarms her.

"Put it here!" Den runs over to them as Curt pours in the substance. "What is that?"

"Probably more alcohol. How many did you get?"

"Ivan should be here with one of them. I was just trying to take care of these guys."

"You havent found Christian?"

"No. Not at all. Was hoping he got something."

"HERE!" Ivan runs in with another bottle, pouring it in.

"Two down, two more... Where have you searched?"

"The clinic, right over there." Kristine pointd over to where they were.

"I just stole something from a house."

"Good job, Ivan. Ill try to search somewhere else, so you carry this." She hands over the artifact to him.

"Wait, wha- aaannd shes gone. Where the hell..."

"I can go somewhere else-" Kristine walks back before she trips bit keeps her stand. "Sorry! I forgot about-"

"The handcuff thing."

"God damnit, why did those weird lights bring us into here..." Ivan furrows his brow at Curts statement.

"Wait... Lights... Wouldnt that be... Den?"

"Den?" Kristine seems confused at that inquiry.

"Yea. Shes the god of chaos with like, multiple souls in her body."

"Raptor God. I... Dont know where she went." They were soon interrupted by a rushing Den with an injured Christian.

"I FOUND IT! THE TWO!"

"CHRISTIAN!" Curt runs towards them causing Kristine to almost get dragged across the street.

"HEY HEY HEY! IM HANDCUFFED TO YOU!"

"Sorry!" Curt picks Kristine up again.

"WHY?! I DID NOT CONSENT!"

"Okay, Ill put you down." He eyes worridly to his injured friend.

"WERE YOU GUYS JUST STANDING HERE?!" Insert an awkward silence.

"Is Christian alright?"

"Im fine..." Definitely not. Absolutely not. "Now wheres the one..." Den places her ingredient into the artifact, then Christian places his in, blood accidentaly dripping onto the item. It glows on where it was.

"What the hell does that mean..." He picks it up and Ivan notices a peculiarly shaped thick paper on the ground, its ends being a weird, short ridge poking out of it in an even space. He picks it up.

"Yo, I think this dropped a paper."

"Read it, Ivan."

"Alright,

'You have found four ingredients, but are missing one. An essence of someones life.' God damnit." The rest groan in response. " 'You will have to vote on two people to fight the people chasing after you. Quite a show, is it not?

Well then, you have the key.'

"When are we not going to be handcuffed anymore? If one of us gets in, how about ME?"

"Yea, how about- Kristine."

"That was a joke!" Christian eyes the paper for a few moments, grabbing it and looking to Curt.

"Give me your hand."

"The cuffed one?" He nods in response. Curt shows him and Christian uses the oddly shaped paper to unlock the handcuffs. "Oh..."

"Ah, smart!" And thus, they are free from whatever that volunteering was for. "So, how do we vote?"

"Thats easy!" A cheery person appears to them like a goddess, her rather strange arm holding out papers. "Sorry for being late."

"What are you hiding..?" Ivan stares at Chilly. She stares back, in the creepy way like a doll could.

"Just write the name of whom you want to participate in these papers! Just one, though! But, lets go somewhere else comfortable so that someone doesnt shoot you all in the open." She walks away.

The rest have no choice but to follow. To control and be controlled of their lives
