1. Are you named after anyone? My first name is an old book character, and my second name is a derivative of my grandmother's name. My screen name is one I made up, and have started preferring to my legal name.

2. When was the last time I cried? Nearly cried when I had a freak out realizing I forgot to follow back friend. Before that a couple hours ago when deep topic hit deep.

3. Do I have kids? No. Don't want them either. I'm good at babysitting and watching kids for a few hours but get distracted and frustrated easily. I don't trust myself with them. Kids seem to like me though. I've been told I tell good stories and am patient when explaining things to them. I treat them like full humans?

4. What sports do you play/have you played? I played volleyball, did cross country running, softball, and skiing. Real jock here (not really there was nothing to do but sports where I used to live). Haven't played any since 2020 though. I use a bike though sometimes.

5. Do you use sarcasm? Never. I don't have a sarcastic bone in my body.

6. What's the first thing you notice about someone? How close they are in relation to me. I don't like anyone I don't know to be near me. Next thing is clothes.

7. Eye color? Blue and yellow (not two different eyes but mixed in both)

8. Scary movies or happy endings? Depends on mood, but a scary movie can have a happy ending. It's a chore to get to sit long enough to watch a movie though.

9. Any talents? I've been told I have some good writing skills. I can draw? I can analyze stuff? Idk.

11. Hobbies? Reading, writing, drawing, thinking, overthinking.

15. Dream job? Getting hired by DC, writing 6 issue solo serieses for Helena Bertinelli, Mia Dearden, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, and than being assigned to a main Batbook where I can have my go at four part storyline. After my sucess I get put on a new project where I get all the creative freedom. I write a 20 issue maxi series on a preflash point alternate timeline where Bruce stayed dead. I then get to write a Tim Drake twelve issue maxi where I bring back Tim's civilian friends in a fun but serious story about starting to grow up, and by the end Tim has a new identity.

A job that makes enough that I can have enough money to eat three meals, have a warm shower, and live in a building that won't fall apart with a strong wind?

your aphra meta is really good!!! i find the aphra comics to be confusing but enjoyable, and its really neat that you take the time to analyze them so thoroughly!! do you have any predictions about what the next arc (starting with #26) might be about?

❤️!! thank you, darling, I have been loving your Aphra and Sana posts! and am really happy to get to talk to you like this.

So these are mostly wild speculations, mind, based on what we know about #26 and loose threads from previous issues. What we do know about #26 is that Aphra and Triple-Zero will be on the run together from law enforcement while connected by explosive implants with a proximity sensor that prevents them from straying too far apart. We don’t know when this takes place, but since Aphra already has an explosive implant from the jail, I could see these events plausibly taking place in the aftermath of #25. 

As of #23, Aphra’s implant was still synced with Dek-Nil. Could someone have made it sync up with Triple-Zero? That doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility; what’s harder to explain is why Aphra can’t move away from Triple-Zero without “both of them blowing up”. Is Triple-Zero also equipped with an implant? has someone hacked the hub-droid program to mess with both Aphra and Triple-Zero (perhaps by hacking some pre-existing way to self-immolate)?

Assuming the above, that Aphra’s implant was activated to sync with Triple-Zero and has a setting that would blow them both up, there are a few characters who could potentially be the cause of such mischief (other than Aphra herself): 

Lopset Yas, the “electrician” who knows a suspicious amount about hookspores, is currently holding the Dek-Nil CPU and might have the know-how to play with the implants in this manner. We still don’t know why Lopset is in jail, so this could help tie up that loose end. Possibly he would even do something like this to help Aphra, namely by ensuring Triple-Zero couldn’t just straight up murder her. 

Another possibility is Vader - he is, after all, the one who activated Triple-Zero after Aphra salvaged its matrix, and may still be Triple-Zero’s master. Given his own history with implants both as a child slave and in his own comic, connecting Aphra and Trip via implants would be a really cruel move, even for him. But he does have a tendency to replay his traumas, both those inflicted upon him and by him, so. Maybe. I’m thinking he’ll probably be too busy with the spores and the lightsaber, though. 

Sana is another candidate - she’s already promised to fulfill her mission with requisite “violence”, and we have yet to see her really dish it out in this arc.

Posla could, maybe, do this? Right now, I’m thinking he’ll be taken over by the spores, but anything is possible.

The “law enforcement” part of the pitch is harder for me to imagine. Posla was in law enforcement before he became obsessed with hunting Cornelius Evazan, so whoever ends up escaping in his ship might have access to contacts. Tolvan is already in possession of a set of Posla’s armor and was working a job on Coruscant for the inspectorate, so she could be involved. 

Tolvan really stumps me, I have to say. Like, if she actually intends on blackmailing Vader - I mean, she could survive, there is a lot going on right now in the jail and Vader won’t be able to deal with most of it - but. Blackmailing Darth Vader is the worst idea ever. I mean, if Ozzel of all people has to warn you about Vader’s limited patience, then … I just don’t know what she wants. She’s like this careerist for the sake of the career, for the sake of imposing control on herself, but she also really looked up to Thanoth and knows Vader must have killed him … she’s reported to a long line of men killed or about to be killed by Vader, from Tagge and Thanoth to Ozzel. I don’t know how any of that bodes for her mental state or her survival chances. She has electric tattoos now, but. idk. Is one romantic gesture going to make up for informing on Aphra to the one man she's most afraid of in the entire galaxy?

So much as to how I think we might possibly get from #25 to #26. I’m a bit more confident about the themes I think we’ll see - namely, I suspect that putting Triple-Zero and Aphra together in close quarters will be a way to explore a long-running thread between them, the basic premise of which you can sort of see here:

That thread really comes to a head in #19, in a scene that Spurrier has also highlighted:

Of this scene, Spurrier says: “somebody basically puts her on the spot about this [her funny little moral code] and there’s some rather lovely stuff she says, which kind of spells out her relationship to conventional morality in as much as she’s aware of it” (x). Since that “somebody” was Triple-Zero, I wouldn’t be surprised to see these themes developed, possibly also in relation to Trip’s obsession with his origins. Without access to his memories, Aphra (and Vader) are his origins … his wanting to prove that she is like him is very interesting to me, especially after so many issues of both Vader and Aphra focused on parents, children, clones, the line between organics and droids and whether droids should be allowed blood and access to the Force, and the ways legacies - and morals - are passed down. 

Something that caught my eye about the description of #26 is the emphasis on Aphra and Triple-Zero as “equals”. Aphra is no longer his master and he is no longer (?) hers, which could open up space to explore this very strange, very disturbing, extremely puzzling statement from him, also from #19, a statement that would seem to contradict her earlier claim in #3 that Triple-Zero is “emotionless”:
