as somebody who watches possibly too many documentaries, i gotta say, the wisdom of reading about a piece of news or something from more than one news outlet to get a more measured opinion on the subject absolutely stands with documentaries.

One subject can make Vastly different documentaries from different people. it's not neutral.

#one time both the bbc and itv did small doc episodes on the #failsafe failures when a little boy was killed #and yeah lol they bore little resemblance despite having the exact same subject matter #and one was much kinder to the cops #like both of these things spoke to the boy's dad and the angles #each different piece chose to portray were very different #and neither were false #idk look i love a good documentary but they sooo have angles to them #i spent a good half an hour arguing with the tv over a guy fawkes show earlier l o l #not over the factual parts. just the interesting social conclusions it was drawing.#be more cynical. or just argue at the screen more. it breeds a healthy cynicism rather than a pessimistic one.
