i've been thinking about how apparent in this fandom how so many people care about the fics/art/posts over the people. it's all so divided and i don't know how this was set up but I'm tired of it. i could tell you about all the times i took down my fics and all anyone ever sent asks about was begging for PDFs because they can't lose their favorite fic not that they ever told me that before

it's built off the idea that fic writers are above everyone else, that they're machines, that their only role in fandom is making content. so many times have i not been posting/updating and I've lost my place here because that's how it's it's built up. it's so fucking tiring.

taking a backseat to fandom is okay, not writing or creating and just reading fics is good! you don't have to interact to enjoy the fandom side of things, but i feel like so many people are taking a back seat and not commenting or interacting when that's not how fandom should be. the fics shouldn't be more important than the people behind them, and you shouldn't think you're guaranteed or deserving of content just because you're the one posting it on TikTok, though that's a whole separate thing which has been talked about so I'll leave it.

it's just so hard to sit here wanting to enjoy fics (my own and others) when so many other people are just using fandom as a way to get more tiktok followers by sharing other people's words while everyone just comments on those tiktoks instead of actually commenting on the fic at hand.

you know I think the other thing about spandam that has my brain going "OOUGH OOUGH" other than my fucking autism spinning a wheel and landing on him (i'm not kidding I swear this is what it comes down to, I don't chose any of these myself) is that yeah you have the cringefails and failguys, but they're all capable. They can fight. As silly as they are, they aren't worthless.

Spandam is utterly, unarguably worthless to the point he is less capable than a day one marine fodder recruit. He is completely pathetic, can't take care of himself and was born in a lap of luxury so he likely has ZERO life skills and is utterly pointless as a living being. He is nothing, he has nothing going for him outside of what was handed for him and can't even do anything right. His values are pure garbage and no one would miss him if he died.

Cora is a silly little cringefail man, Law is a funny girlfailure, you have sanji, a favorite failboy. Kid is a crusty manchild, Zoro is a dumb bimbo. But- they all fucking SERVE. They can and will kill you, they are deeply driven and going against their ambitions is a fucking TERRIFYING thought. You can give them silly names, but at the end of the day they'll be standing over your corpse, shaking their head.

Spandam is nothing, he will never be anything, nor will he be given any role higher than the gag role he's been put into at this point. He's been sectioned off as a passing joke.

Which is what he deserves, and I think that's why I'm ever so slightly fond of his worthless, shitty, useless husk of a human he embodies.
