Honestly, despite this post being mainly about dbh, it's sorta of a general thing

But gosh, what's with the ship wars? I mean, every fandom has this problem (sorta, the only fandom I've rarely, if ever, experienced it was the splatoon fandom cuz even the most unfortunate ships are shipped lmao)

I be scrolling, tryna find like, just general content, and someone be fighting over it

And I feel its gotten worse as of late cuz it's gotten involved with familial stuff

I'm a big found family gal

It's why, when I first played Detroit, Kara's story line was my favourite at the time (as of coming back to the game, it's become Hank and Connor, but I blame my Iron dad phase for that lmao)

But I'm not gonna fight people who see it or interpreted their relationship differently. If it wasn't stated in canon, then it leaves the gate way open to any interpretation because that's the fun part of being in a fandom! Different points of view!

And I especially come from the POV of someone who shipped two characters the fandom viewed more as siblings. By the gods, the hate some people had.

I was never at the tail end of that heat, but my mutuals from a server were, and when I jumped in to defend them

Despite coming out victorious (in a sense lol), I wouldn't say it was worth the effort, waisted my breath on petty fighting and I don't wish to again

But on the other hand

I've also been on the other end where I saw two very popular shipped characters as familiar/just friends. It's weird cuz they were/are more popular to the (technically) canon couple and they very rarely, if ever interact (legit got gaslit by the fandom that they did, until I went to look into it and found a desert of canon interactions).

And it's frustrating.

I really wish people wouldn't fight over these petty things. But it's the Internet, what can ya do? I'll just do what I can to avoid this in-fighting, not my monkeys, not my circus ig.

Still though, sometimes it feels like shipping/seeing them as just family really just, leaves out nuance. I like seeing both ends because it's interesting! You don't have to, of course, but discrediting either ends is so boring. Especially in the case of DBH where there are so many endings (total of 85 people!), so many characters, so many possibilities. Being stuck on one interpretation feels redundant to the game.

Now, am I saying to not enjoy your favourite parts of the game? No! I'm not here to judge you! Create that blog about solely the ship or solely familial content! It's your blog! :D

Feel free to block out content you don't like, curate your space.

Just don't....discredit others for their own interpretation. Be kind, or at least tolerable.

Speaking of conditional acceptance - being Jewish is immediately different because as you said : we're "accepted" when we succeed except they are still determined to erase us so there's a campaign to label us as "just (insert nationality)" instead of Jewish and our Jewishness is debated - the left's Judaism is just a religion versus the right's a Jew will always be a Jew. to everyone we are just abstract ideas and contradictions. We're "slippery" and can "hide" and yet they always know who's a Jew. This is uniquely horrible to us tbh.

I don't have sources, I grew up in a pretty weird house with hundreds of books, every wall was a book case including our bedrooms. i would read stuff and then move on without really remembering the name of the book or author. I was named after Hanna Arendt, who I don't really agree with, but as for other books, i don't remember. I've always been on high alert for how antisemitism works since I picked up Maus as a kid. I've paid special attention to it in fantasy seeing how closely antisemitism follows conspiracy theory and fantasy troups.

as far as attack on titan goes, I would LOVE to hear your take on it. i fell off on season 3 but I know the gist of the show. I have a hard time deciding if it's antisemitic, honestly. I'm always a little dubious of how much japanese people understand what jews are to goyim, how the abrahamic religions interact, or how antisemitism is distinct from other bigotry. they also have a very different perspective on what WW2 was about first because they don't recognize their own history in china during WW2 and didn't have the historic fall out from it that Germany did.

it definitely has holocaust/WW2 inversion and "X group are the real jews" this time X being imperial japan. it also has a pretty one to one of erin being a new hitler stand in as the main character (a surprisingly popular romance anime plot line btw. 'can you reform the ultimate bad boy, anime hitler?" kinda trope.) it's also got some pretty WILD blood genetic magic type stuff which is i think something to do with the Japanese emperor and eugenics shit. So that makes it seem pretty cut and dry, right? but I have a hard time seeing if the author understands what roll antisemitism played in the Europe side of WW2. I don't know if jews even play a roll other than borrowed imagery and names. you have characters or places that through name or roman nose seem pretty jewish to me: anne, levi, ymir (which sounds like a hebrew city name to me) zoe, etc... but idk if there is any idea that jews are different from either the bad guys or the good guys. I would love to hear your take on it! ramble away!

oh my gdo hi yeah sx5 ro is incredibly real.. its been a pretty long time since i was like really into ennea and other typology stuff but i remember about it sometimes esp when i get sucked into a new fandom. a couple weeks ago i opened pdb for the first time in forever because i wanted to see what people think about some of the lifestealers (ro and mapicc specifically. not normal about them ❤���) and i saw sx5 ro and felt like when idk like when youre playing ace attorney or something and you figure out the case. like i audibly went Oh my god this explains so much. went reading about sx5s in more detail and got lightheaded halfway through. something wrong with him 🫶 the roshambo hyperfixation is real and extremely dangerous i have not stopped thinking about him for even a second for like a month now

about the e7 part i think this is a lot more a matter of like. the distinction between the character and the youtuber? like ro the actual guy is incredibly silly and as a fellow e7 i do understand why he would be typed that way However. the Character he plays in the lore and especially in his own videos is very different especially compared to a lot of other lifestealers whose roleplay characters are a lot closer to how they usually act If this makes sense. but this is always a problem with mcyt fandoms i think because the whole Line Between Fiction And Reality thing gets complicated fast especially on lifesteal in comparison to like the dsmp where there was a clear (or at least clearer) distinction between roleplay and just goofing around in minecraft

anyways i dont think i have anything else to say about lifesteal in regards to ennea. not that i can remember right now at least. because im like really bad at typology im horrible at explaining any of my thoughts at all ever and i usually just agree with someone else instead of coming up with something on my own because im always scared of misinterpreting a characte. to me its just like a fun thing to think about sometimes but not to actually put any effort in because im stupid and bad at words
