“what are you thinking about?”

fingertips gently skim over his back, rippling over his broad back like a wave. miguel’s facing away from you, arms underneath his pillow. marks which were personally imprinted by you scatter across his back, bright red and sore. you feel the urge to kiss them better.

“hmm?” you pause your movements, just for a second.

“what’re you thinking about?” his voice is soft, a small sprinkle of raspiness in his tone. he’s not really awake yet.

‘you’ was your first response but you choke on your words swallowing them down. you want to take a picture of him right now; wanting to imprint this view of him in your mind forever.

“nothing.”

Miguel hold back a snort. it’s a shame that you can’t see the way that his lips tilt upwards. he knows you’re lying.

“that frown on your face doesn’t make it seem like it’s nothing.”

you roll your eyes, but you can’t really be mad at Miguel for knowing you so well.

“I mean that it’s not important.” you state, fingertips brushing against his skin. you decide to kiss his marks better after all; you don’t know if you’ll get another chance like this.

just as you shift to place kisses on his back, Miguel continues to interrogate you.

“everything that you think about or say is important to me.”

“Everything?” you repeat, hovering over a particular red scratch on his back.

“Everything, hermosa.”

he wasn’t lying. he’d spend the whole of eternity listening to you and your voice, no matter the topic or whether he’s heard your story a million times.

out of everything, your voice is the only thing that could soothe him — like a personal lullaby.

“well, I’m glad you think that baby.” the corners of your lips flip up into a sweet smile. your lips brush against the scars which you’ve missed. “they don’t hurt do they?”

miguel hums, “no, they don’t.”

“I should try and hold back — “ you begin, thinking to get some cream to heal the scratches. “they look like they hurt.”

Instantly, a large hand comes to wrap against your thigh. “I told you already, they don’t hurt.”

“are you—“

“positive and plus…” his hand moves to caress your thigh. “I like them, it’s like a little part of you I’ll always keep with me. They’ll remind me of you.”

your face burns and you attempt to hide away, lying on top of miguel. you feel his body vibrate as he laughs, his voice filling up the room.

“don’t be embarrassed, mi amor, I like them. honest.”

“are you sure?” you mumble the words into his skin.

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

Something I’ve noticed for awhile is that I often get comments from people about how they are surprised how I always come up with theories and try to guess what might happen and they “could never do that” themselves. I want to say: yes you can! There’s honestly a shortage of Nevermoor theories and ideas and speculation and etc and I want to see MORE!!!

Want to talk about how Morrigan’s mom is actually secretly alive? How the Scholar Mistresses are a Wundrous Act? Do you think the Tempus Divinity looks like an owl, or do you think Weaving and Ruination would be met together? Or have you ever thought about how this one line, from Chapter 19 of Nevermoor, about Betram Crow actually means he was a Cursed Child? Whatever it is you want to talk about: GO FOR IT!!!

I personally find it very fun to go sort of “English class mode” and look at the text in front of me and think about what different things might mean and analyze it and even overthink it to an unnecessary (but fun!) amount. But that’s just me and how I like to approach things! You don’t need to make long posts and quote specific lines if that isn’t your style. The big thing to remember is that so much can happen in the next six books, so throw any idea out there! You never know what twists and turns will be thrown at us. I think it’s fun to share these ideas and discuss with other people— sure, maybe there’s just something you missed when reading, but perhaps some new ideas spawn might from it. Some speculation could even serve as inspiration for fics!

There are some theories and thoughts that I’ve posted that have been “debunked” when I reread a book, or when someone pointed out something, or even just when something had a real-world basis that I as an American didn’t catch. But it was still fun to think about it all, and there’s some bits and pieces that I see as notable and worth considering. I think most of the Silverborn Masterpost is going to be “wrong”, but if just 1% of it is “correct”, even indirectly, I will take that as a win. I know it feels like during the hiatus everyone’s talked about everything, but I hope that the incoming communal reread (fingers crossed) and obviously Silverborn brings some speculation back to the fandom because I want to discusssssss!

Sigma looks over, something unsettled and dark in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

Nikolai's eyes are unfocused. "Like I'm still just a bird in a cage."

"You're the one who dragged me here," Sigma says, shifting so their knees touch Nikolai's. "Hey. Look at me."

Nikolai does but he is still so, so far away.

"I'm not Fyodor," Sigma says. When she reaches for Nikolai's cheek, he flinches.

"That's it!" He exclaims, standing up and pacing. A manic laugh crawls through his lips. "The Devil and The Savior all in one... that's it.... he's the one...."

"Nik--"

His whips his head to Sigma, suddenly very angry, eyes swirling in madness. "You're a false prophet."

Sigma flinches. For all the manipulating that Fyodor used on them both, for all the ways in which Fyodor crafted cages and bars and made them seem like open doors, Sigma has fought to bend the iron so that they could escape. So that Nikolai could finally fly on his own will.

But, as always, Sigma's efforts are in vain.
