What’s your fav and least fav Oseman book? (My fav was Radio Silence and least was Loveless - just was underwhelmed idk)

My favorite book by Alice is also Radio Silence. I think it really represents Alice coming into their own as a young writer. It's a passionately-written book inspired by the real disillusionment Alice had with her university experience and how the education system treats gifted kids. Compared to Solitaire, Radio Silence's characters were more diverse, and that diversity was integrated very seamlessly into the setting. I think Frances and Aled on their own are already very compelling characters, so their dynamic together is wonderful to read, fueled by mutual respect, appreciation, and artistic creativity. I also love both of their character designs and how much Alice emphasizes their distinct clothing choices and hairstyles, which makes them feel like real, expressive teenagers. I think the book also has the strongest narrative identity: it's not the amateur debut novel (Solitaire), it's not trying to teach the reader about aroaceness (Loveless), and it's not trying to impart lessons about fandom (IWBFT); it's a very character-driven novel fueled by human conflict, trauma, and complex relationships. It's also set over a long period of time, which adds depth to the story through strategically placed flashbacks and stretches out Frances and Aled's friendship and character arcs to a more realistic timespan. The podcast segments and certain scenes (like the entire few chapters where Frances is drunk at night and doesn't narrate reliably) also add a surreal, dreamy touch to the whole book that's so easy to get lost in, so I love it a lot.

My least favorite was actually I Was Born For This, mainly because it was hard for me to take a book about fandom and parasocial relationships as seriously as the story wanted me to. I really wanted to like this book for the Muslim representation especially, but Angel's character didn't make sense to me because I didn't believe that someone as smart and respectful as her to her idols would also be that invested in their lives; she'd have to be self-aware enough to realize sooner that her obsession wasn't healthy. I also felt like the themes fell flat compared to what Alice may have been trying to do with them. For example, the theme of religion where Angel is Muslim and Jimmy is Christian and the allegory of celebrities being "gods" that fans "worship," I felt like it didn't reach any satisfying conclusion. Angel's relationship with Islam wasn't explored as much as I would've liked; for example, in Radio Silence, Daniel and Frances have a conversation about feeling detached from their racial identities, but in IWBTF Angel never addresses how she reconciles queerness with her faith or acknowledges how she feels as a WOC in a very white, secular fandom space. I think RS and IWBTF showcase how Alice's writing changed pre and post-Heartstopper. It's more polished and mature, but because Heartstopper is so fluffy and optimistic, their later books lack the "bite" that their earlier works had that made them compelling.

Small pet peeves after the new art for the Japanese Splatfest came out: why is Frye NEVER in any indian-inspired clothing?? Shiver almost always is. It's not that Frye is any less traditional, we see her reference splastlandian traditions more often than the two others.

Would it kill them to have her have any item that references the culture she's based on...? I get it'd be harder for Big Man because he's a manta but even a small accessory or item near him would work.

That's something that also shows in their in-game songs. Most of them are generic pop, it's the live arrangements that bring back some of their unique sounds. Still, the Japanese inspirations are stronger, partly because Shiver always has more focus so her enka singing style is front and center. Daybreaker Anthem was a nice change of pace but the only live rendition of Calamari Inkantation 3mix has the Deep Cut part cut out... With the one moment where Frye's harmonies are Indian-inspired. I know the goal was to give the Squid Sisters more time in the song, because they always throw Deep Cut to the side in favor of the previous idols, but damnit for once we got a cool Deep Cut moment and something that brought out all the different cultures that inspired the characters at once...

The latest concert remedied that with the new arrangements but I can't help but think that visually, the team hasn't been it

From the artbook, we know how much was lost and how watered down the designs were but ffs Shiver is still shown on promotional material with a clear Japanese influence. Maybe Frye likes more modern styles but you can't tell me that gremlin wouldn't rep some traditional clothing or try to put a modern spin on it (contrasting with Shiver who doesn't). I get that dynamic from Callie and Marie. Both are from a more japanese-like area and Marie likes the aesthetic or her culture in general more while Callie just follows modern trends. It works because both have the SAME culture. With Shiver and Frye, it feels like one's culture is erased or pushed aside in favor of the other.

Idk, maybe they wanted one to be more modern à la Squid Sisters but bigger. Maybe they don't really dare show anything other than Japanese culture. But in the end, that just really sucks. Her strong japanese focus also makes Shiver stand out among the idols, doing the same for the other two members would help the trio in general have something that sets them out

ok first disclaimers: i know very little abt idols and even less abt modeling so!! if anything is horrifically inaccurate forgive me im stupid!! and also this will literally be stream of consciousness unedited so if it makes zero sense im very sorry

now we begin the madness

some background info: kite was scouted off the street (as he was walking off from pickpocketing someone LMAO) for his height and build, currently very sought after to model for many brands because he’s literally the same as the sketch models on paper so the designers don’t have to compromise on their clothing designs to fit the model, bc he just. looks exactly like the paper sketch. also the white hair is very distinctive!! and his prep/management team is his research team <3 he’s currently the face of several brands, including the zoldyck brand (i see the zoldycks as a very influential family in the fashion/modeling industry, kikyo was a former model until an accident, now she’s focusing on designing, all the kids are involved in the industry somehow, illumi is within the same agency (?is that how modeling works) as kite). he’s in his mid-twenties ish and hes 6'3" - 6'4" (190 - 193 cm)

wing and his idol group debuted a couple years ago (haven’t thought too much about the members, but im thinkin feitan maybe? kurapika?? shalnark?? idk guys maybe he’s a solo act) and they’ve skyrocketed to fame. uhh in terms of content they produce, thinkin something similar to wayv/bts type music (stuff that crowds just eat up LOL like love talk by wayv, luna by oneus that kind of music) and im thinking that wing’s debut look was REALLY BAD (they made the poor man blond) but when they put him back to his normal hair color he got rly popular. he’s had some bad eras where the stylists made him look a little goofy but… he’s good now (his best era was the mullet era). also he was trained by bisky who was a former idol who has retired and she's a legend in the industry… and wing is currently guiding an idol trainee (zushi lol). wing’s in his early-mid-twenties i think and he's 5'9" - 5'10" (175 - 178 cm)

ok and the main 4 fit into this uhh... i think gon is also an idol trainee along w zushi. and killua is currently modeling for a popular teen's clothing brand. i think i mentioned kurapika as being a part of wing's idol group but lowk i think maybe he's an actor instead. leorio is also. an actor. yeah ok there we go

uhhhh ok general thoughts:

i see them meeting at like.. the met gala or its equivalent and they meet when wing trips over kite’s clothes (he’s wearing something with a ridiculously long train and wing isn’t looking where he’s going), and at first wing thinks kite is super standoffish/rude bc he doesn’t apologize or offer a hand when wing trips… he just.. sorta stares at him on the floor for a second then clacks off in his very pointy shoes (he was flustered abt the very pretty stranger who just fell for over him. also he was STRESSED asf) (also the perspective that wing had probably didn't help bc bro was on the floor and kite was staring down at him from a height of like 6'9 with the heels)

afterwards there’s a bunch of pictures and edits of wing falling over all over the internet bc it was kind of funny… and ppl are telling him like “oh my god you tripped over yorknew’s top model the LITERAL FACE of fashion right now” and wing is like “damn i didn’t know also he’s a jerk”… and to kite ppl r telling him “oh my god the country’s MOST POPULAR IDOL tripped on you” and kite’s like “uhhh.. who?” (he doesn’t keep up with the entertainment industry despite being a part of it) and they both search each other up and they both have a moment like “oh my god i fucked up (also he's really hot)”

anyways they continue randomly (not at all random very much orchestrated by the people around them) meeting at things,,, there’s a very awkward apology from kite where he explains (sortof) why he didn’t help wing up… uhh stuff happens they fall in love and start dating LOL (i didnt think abt this part that hard) and for a hot minute there r paparazzi photos circulating of them together and the media is losing their collective shit

fast forward a little bit and they r like “yea we r together LOL” and then u start seeing kite at wing’s concerts in a spectator box staring very lovingly at wing on the stage and wing (and sometimes his whole idol group) starts showing up to fashion shows and wing looks like shellshocked every time kite steps onto the catwalk hes got kind of an awed stare on his face

ok future thoughts:

after abt two? ish years dating (engaged for 6 months out of those 2 yrs) they have an extremely private wedding with only close friends invited, and when ppl start noticing theyre wearing wedding bands (takes a while bc wing usually wears a lot of rings anyways, and kite wears his on a necklace and not on his hand) the media has a collective meltdown. again. (i am the media in this i think. i have meltdowns bc of them.)

um and eventually (around when him and kite get married) wing's idol group splits apart as they all go to pursue individual passions/careers, so now he's workin on his own music/vision. i think his personal music is much more peaceful and vibey than what his old group produced, more gentle love songs and poetic music and whatnot.

and kite steps out of the spotlight and is focusing on nature conservation philanthropy type stuff,, so he'll still step out and model for charity/fundraiser type stuff and he's the face of a large conservation foundation. (also bc sometimes he'll join like.. ocean cleanup initiatives or similar things and like. imagine ur volunteering to pick up garbage on the beach and u literally see like. anya taylor joy and her husband also out there picking up garbage or smthn. that's how the other ppl feel.) hes also a big advocate for no kill shelters and donates a shitload to them i like to think.

volunteering mini series!

it really warms my heart to see people give back to the community, especially idols because it inspires a lot of fans to do so too!

it’d be really nice if maybe as a holiday special? they went around to different places and volunteered to spread awareness for the causes

maybe it’d be better if they split up?

the members can choose what they’re passionate about too

my personal suggestions/ideas would be:

a retirement home (they can perform music for the elderly people there. i’m thinking zhang hao and taerae would be a good combo)

a hospital

a soup kitchen

a community centre (i’d love to see hanbin and gunwook teach after school dance lessons to children)

and the proceeds for the episode could go towards different charities or programs for these places (ie if they need more funding or renovations) as well as a link for fans to donate more to these places

Until she heard some people in the corners talking about you. She knew eavesdropping was bad, but she's so curious! What business do you have with her big sister? Well, she knew you were famous judging from how many people were talking about you. She also heard that you were gonna arrive tomorrow and Jean would be there! How exciting to meet this "person".

The next day she saw you. Her eyes widened as she never saw this kind of beauty, but soon enough, her view was blocked by the crowd of people. She tried getting closer to you, but the time she was in front of the crowd, she stumbled on a rock, and her face was about to land on the ground. She shuts her eyes, waiting for the impact. She didn't feel the impact. She opened her eyes to look up to meet yours. 'Ah....this is so embarrassing...!' She covered her face, then bowed down, apologizing for the trouble.

You reassured her that it was no big deal and was concerned if she was ok. You didn't know Jean little sister was so shy. Well, actually, you kinda expected it since Jean herself was a little shy. Jean helped Barbara get up and check if any injuries had gotten to her. Thankfully no, not a single scratch. Jean thanks you for catching her sister. Even after some years of meeting, she's still so shy. You known her well, so you could read her like a book. She is hella red.

You gave her a pack of ice, "Oh my, you're getting all red! Is the heat getting to you?" You tried holding back a laugh. Key word; tried. You let out some laughs. You promise that you would go around to see mondstadt more with Jean. Anyways back to Barbara, she tags along of course. It was an off day for her, so she spends her time with her big sister and you! It's technically a win-win.

You and Jean talked about etc. As she listened to your beautiful voice, she heard that you were an idol!

"Wow! You're so cool! Oh? *gasp* You are an idol from multiple regions?! What was it like there?" She would probably ask you some questions about the travel of yours throughout the regions. She does asks you, "What kind of Idol are you?" If you say you sing, she would practically and politely beg for you to come sing at the church. She tells you about Barbatos and asks you to sing some personal song for her and the church, and maybe Venti Barbatos would come and love to hear your voice. She's also very surprised how good you control your voice.

She would 10/10 let out some laughs if you do some goofy, micky mouse voice or something—

If you say dancing, she would asks you to maybe make up some dances for her and maybe Jean will join for fun. She would look up to your lessons of dancing. She's fascinated of how many styles of dancing there is.

If you are like a style idol (I forgot what it's called), she would love for you to design some outfits. Oh how she loves how you know exactly her taste, "aww, you look so adorable." You chuckled at the flustered state she's in. She would also be curious about how big sister would look like in the style of clothes you would do for her.

Title: In the Eyes of the Night

Once backstage you nearly fall onto one of the benches behind the gauzy curtains that frame the dais, dropping your fans and gingerly taking off first your shoes, then the wrappings around your feet. They come away sweaty and smelly, which is only to be expected, but a pained hiss escapes your lips as you peel cloth off the blisters that burst during your time on the stage, leaving stains of yellow and red on the fabric.

Your stomach drops. It's not as if you had expected anything less, not after what happened last night, but seeing the mess of blood and pus in the light somehow makes it all worse.

"Need some help?" Juyeon's deep voice sounds overhead. You meet his concerned smile with a wry grimace of your own. "Don't worry about me," you reply, already grabbing one of the clean towels nearby. "Your performance is next, right? You should go prepare. I'll be fine."

His eyes flicker over to the clock on the wall and a grimace of his own passes over his lips as he registers how little time he has left. "I'll send someone with water," he promises. "Clean your feet properly."

"Thanks, Juyeon. I'll be fine," you reassure him, even as the stinging pain threatens to bring tears to your eyes. "It's just a few blisters."

Juyeon disappears into the gauzy curtains, and you take the moment alone to stretch your feet onto the bench. Stars above, your legs ache something awful. Normally you would just attribute this to the endless cycle of performance and practice, but all that running around yesterday took everything out of you. The adrenaline of the chase, the fear that you would be caught, captured - or even worse, that the prince you were hiding would be seen -

Not for the first time, you curse your friend in the shadows for saddling you with the responsibility of a missing prince. How do you hide a prince in your own tiny room? How do you keep him out of sight but still get him food, get him water, get him the basic things he needs to survive? She didn't tell you anything when she dumped him on you, didn't tell you anything except that he was the prince who the royal family had declared missing and that you needed to hide him or else people would kill him. 

You're not an assassin. You're nothing special, not like she is. You can't use a knife. You can't wield a sword. You're just a fan dancer and nothing else and the responsibility of a prince is going to kill you, if it doesn't kill him first.

Ugh. You rest a hand on your heart, forcing deep breaths. "Everything is fine," you mutter to yourself, as though saying it aloud will make it true. It is true, in a way. Your prince wasn't seen last night, for all the danger you were in. He wasn't captured. He wasn't killed. You were able to distract those who would hunt him, even if your bare feet and legs took more cuts than you were used to on the sharp stones outside. Even if it took all of your remaining energy not to collapse in a heap of silk and fans onstage. 

Gahyeon comes running over with a small basin of cold water. You thank her, brush her away when she offers to help, and begin cleaning up the mess of blood on your stinking feet. As soon as it's all cleared away and you've wrapped the open sores in clean bandages, you force yourself to stand and limp to your room. With every step, pain hisses up your legs, but you make it there in the end. 

You tap the door slightly, knocking once, twice, three times in a pattern to announce your presence. When a few knocks sound in return, you slide it open and step inside, closing it quickly behind you. 

Soobin sits in the corner of the room, looking small and hunched over for all his height. His eyes are dull, despondent. "Hello," he mumbles. 

All of your previous curses about the responsibility of a prince melt away, replaced by pity in the face of the crown prince's misery. "Hello, Your Highness," you murmur respectfully. "Are you well?"

"I'm fine," he replies quickly, which is how you know he isn't. "Are your feet alright?"

"Just a few cuts and blisters." You smile a little, trudging over to the small mirror set on one of the walls. "I'll survive."

"...I'm so sorry."

"There is no need to be," you respond firmly, turning around from touching up your makeup. "You are my prince and I swore an oath to our friend in the shadows to keep you safe. If I have to bear some pain in my feet for it, no matter. I'm a dancer, anyway." You smile at him. "I'm used to it."

He doesn't look convinced, but he doesn't try to apologize again, so you count that as a win. "You said someone helped you last night," he says, changing the subject.

Your eyebrows furrow. "Yes," you reply lowly, unwanted memories rushing back of shadows and snarls and blades flashing in the moonlight - and above all, one familiar voice shouting for you to run as his sword slashed down, starlight shimmering on the metal. 

Your heart skips a beat. Taehyun Kang. In the moment, when you couldn't breathe and couldn't think, you couldn't believe it was him. But you've replayed those seconds over and over in your mind, and there's no question anymore. Taehyun of the family Kang, one of the middle nobility who frequents your performances and has been trying to court your interest for almost two months...

He saved you. And you can't even thank him, because he didn't see your face, and you can't reveal that that was you. 

"Did you see who they were?" Soobin asks. 

You wipe your fingers on a towel by the mirror, eyes carefully downcast. "No," you reply, and truth be told, you're not sure why you lie. Maybe because you want to keep this moment to yourself. Maybe because deep down, you aren't sure it was really him. 

Maybe because you don't want to acknowledge how hard this makes everything, knowing that you owe Taehyun your life when all he professes to want is your love - and you can't even give him that, however you might want to, for fear that your duty to a missing prince will come to light and all your shadow friend's carefully-laid plans will be ruined.

"I must go now," you say, turning back around. A pair of soft slippers waits by your door and you slip them over your bandaged feet, wincing. You cast the missing prince a soft smile. "I'll be back later, with some food and water."

Soobin nods. He looks exhausted. "Thank you."

With a final smile, you slip out of the room and step lightly down the halls, forcing yourself not to limp the entire way.

Back in the crowded main hall, Jinyoung waves you over the second you step in his direction. "Can you take the section in the corner?" he asks, gesturing to an area close to the stage. 

For the second damn time that evening, your heart skips a beat. Because before you even look over, you know who will be in that section. At least who will be taking one of the tables there. 

Taehyun. 

"Of course," you say anyway, because while Taehyun's stare may be unrelenting, he's never disrespectful - in fact, it's cute when his friends tease him for his never-ending stare and his cheeks tint with more blush than you can attribute to the alcohol. And you can't lie - you like seeing him. You like being around him. He makes you feel comfortable in a way few other men have, and even if he's been clear with his intentions, he's never forced you to make an answer to him, only greeted you with kindness and care. 

Gods above, your heart aches to finally say yes to one of his offers - to buy you a drink, to take you for a meal, to walk with you on the shoreline under the night sky. How could you not, when those sparkling eyes shine at you with all the grace and care in the world? But you can't sacrifice your duty to a missing prince for even a few nights spent in Taehyun's arms - it's too dangerous, with your friend in the shadows gone. Until she returns, and who knows when that will be, you must stay put.

A wry smile curls your lips. Stars, it would be so much easier if he were less easy to fall for. 

Someone hands you a tray of drinks, and you begin to make your way through the chaos. The first group that waves you over isn’t his. It’s a rowdy group of sailors who laugh a little too much and talk a little too loudly, but they’re harmless as they thank you for the several glasses of alcohol that you pour out on their table. The second group isn’t his either, nor the third, nor the fourth. Slowly, you wade through the chaos, flashing a pretty smile at everyone who deigns to meet your eye, filling orders as fast as you can until you find yourself near the stage. 

The music is louder here, and it slowly thrums its way through your body, settling your heart. Beomgyu is dancing now and you allow your eyes to meet his once, an encouraging smile on your lips just before you turn to serve the table to your right. Then you turn to the left. 

Taehyun's small group is a friendly sight to your eyes. Your smile grows a little as you pour out their usual drinks, laughing and bantering as they thank you. By the time you've reached Taehyun, who is on the other side of the table, you feel somewhat better. 

"Good evening, my lord." You smile softly, taking in the empty glass before him. "Would you like your usual?"

"No, Y/N, I'll be fine for tonight." His voice, soft-spoken as always and so different from the commanding shout that rang through the air last night, fusing you with the energy and adrenaline to run. And all of a sudden you're back in that moment, under the dark sky, cornered, feet bleeding, breath sharp and fast with panic...

"Y/N?"

You force yourself to breathe. To come back to earth. You dig your foot into one of the floorboards and the pain that flares from one of the blisters forces you to focus. "I apologize," you say quietly, ignoring the strange look that Taehyun is giving you now. He can't know. He won't know -

"You're limping."

His words pierce through the fog of your thoughts, hitting your ears with a startling precision.

You’re limping. 

You straighten immediately, ignoring how the pain in your feet flares when you do. “I’m sorry?”

“You’re limping,” he repeats, and one glance at him is all you need to know that you didn’t convince him at all. The dark eyes that stare at you with so much intensity fall down to the floor where your feet stand, hidden beneath your robes. When he looks back up, only gentle concern floats in his magnetic irises. “Are you all right?”

Something in his voice almost makes you tell the truth, that no, you aren’t quite fine, you probably shouldn’t have danced today but you had no choice when the only other option was to explain where all the sores in your feet came from - and for a moment, you almost feel tears well up in your eyes. What is it with him, this noble with eyes as intense as his voice can be gentle, this son of a lord who has never once taken his eyes from you but always manages to stare with a respectful distance, never once making you feel like something less than human? 

Why is he so perfect, and why is it that for all he wants you, you can't have him?

But training kicks in, the easy, bland smile lifting the corners of your lips as your exchange begins to catch the attention of the rest of his friends. Just in time, really, though there is still a little ache in your chest when you nod. “I’m fine,” you say. “Thank you for your concern, my lord, but I assure you I’m all right.” You turn away from their table, then, making sure not to limp on your way. 

No matter how much it kills your feet to do so.

My thoughts that no one asked for on final fest:

The trailer arguably goes so hard but honestly? I’m a bit disappointed. Idk if it’s just me but it feels so underwhelming?

For starters, it’s reusing a theme already done in both games. It’s fine if S3 reuses themes for less important monthly fests, but it feels real cheap to reuse it for the final fest ngl.

At first I was mad it wasn’t Idol v Idol v Idol, but then I remembered the final fests decide the next game’s plot, so I’m glad it isn’t just that. But now I’m mad at the fanbase deciding that it is idol v idol v idol. Present is in the lead rn just because so many people love OTH. Guys I get it I love pearlina too I adore the cephalopod lesbians but we need something different, I am begging. We’ve had enough of present timeline Splatoon.

On the one hand with past, we may get to see so much cool lore from events in the timeline like the great turf war, stuff with S3’s idol’s families, or even going even more in depth into octoling storylines and playing from an octarian perspective. However I fear it may lead to even more nostalgia bait like 3 is painfully oversaturated with. Splatoon isn’t even 10 years old as a franchise and we’ve had way too many callbacks in S3.

In future we may get to see what happens with the salmonids, how inklings and octolings finally realize they’ve been coexisting peacefully again, we may even get to see a fleshed out romance or even marriage between Pearl and Marina because it’s the future.

Both past and future also set up the possibility of a new playable species, be it a species that’s now extinct (past) or something newly discovered (future).

Present just doesn’t offer any of the cool benefits. The Splatoon formula is already getting stale, if we all pick present, nothing will change and we lose the chance to get something really innovative and cool that the other 2 have to offer.

Lastly I wanna rant about idol fit choices because what the hell were the designers thinking.

They look better in 3D in the trailer but I’m still not vibing with the fits. For such a colorful franchise, why is everyone in the same bland ugly off-white color? Especially after we just had side order, which is full of monochrome and off-white color palettes.

We could’ve had Callie and Marie in retro 80s clothes or even further back, 1800s clothes.

Pearl and Marina could’ve just popped off in more streetwear since for some reason the devs love putting them in that fashion style and that fashion style only.

And deep cut could’ve had some sick as hell cyberpunk fits. You’re telling me you don’t wanna see Big Man in hologram shades? You don’t want Shiver rocking a shark motorcycle suit? You don’t want Frye to have levitating bracelets shaped like eels?

Instead we get big man in a leather thong for some reason. It’s funny. But it looks so bad

picked up lookism arnd 2015-2016 because jimin (bts) tweeted about it 😭 and tbh i enjoyed it not super because of the plot, but more of the character designs. it's still the thing i like abt it now (besides the fact that all women get bbl bodies zz)

i really enjoyed the kr references. before lookism i alrd knew jimin, gd, and jay park and even some niche-ish kr references. and if you've been into kpop you'd know how kr media/netizens were big on branded clothes... so watching jae yeol, jinsung, and hyungseok vary their wardrobes going to school was something that's... fun? to me. it's like immersing in kr culture on a webtoon. (even the bullying, unfortunately)

so when i picked it up again this 2022, i was really surprised at the plot... like it used to be so lighthearted. and tbh fuck the plot because now it's just ptj's 80 interests being lumped into the webtoon and it's funny (i won't be able to take him seriously irl but i feel like he's a fun guy). the martial arts part was also so fucking interesting to me. like idk how we got from lookism to that, but i loved it.

fighting styles, personalities, wardrobe, all part of character design. taesoo ma with dilf energy dressed as a dilf, dg with an aloof personality dressed as a kpop idol, bnc all dripped out, ryuhei biker gang, etc etc. so much fun to have more characters w diff dimensions to them and diff styles.

It also affected Marisa personality a lot since she was pretty young when that happened so now she's SUPER parano and anxious about her loved ones wellbeing and like she would cling to her friends a lot and always ask them if they're okay bc she always worries they ever..you know. Do what Tsumugi did

Also Marisa is a big nerd (is that the term) she's super into books, animes/mangas, games and such and also a looot into the magic stuff her dad does teehee she also likes drawing and i like to imagine she's the one designing her unit clothes

ANYWAY but its time i actually explain why Tsumugi did what he did. So uh very basically me and my friend decided Eichi died of his illness to give the Wataei family angst which well ended with ES in a MESS since Eichi is like. An important figure in it yk. And so Tsumugi as he now became President of NewDi OR WHATEVER YOU CALL IT got super stressed and pressured with stuff (also grief of Eichi dying) and also with time the idol industry became much more strict and uh. Overworking? Idk how to explain but uh yeah all that was just too much for poor Mugi

BUT IT IS A REALLY INTERESTING PREMISE........ im not the angstiest guy myself sorry im a big fan of happiness and joy and love but id say this is a very good foundation for the story ur telling from what im hearing !! and given the circumstances of everything i can see these events taking place....... BUT I CANT STOP THINKING ABT THE EMOTIONAL TURMOIL NATSUME WOULD GO THROUGH. like given everything theyve been through, all their promises together, baby tsumugi vowing "lets become happy together, you and me" to natsume-chan when they were kids, now even forming a family together, thinking theyve gotten their happy ending, only for the man he loves to then take his own life due to stress and anguish. im very fixated on the feeling of "i wasnt enough/i didnt do enough" natsume would be suffering through. the amount of regret he'd face. maybe wishing he'd been nicer to tsumugi. had put in more effort. given him a stronger sense of love and security while he had the chance, but now hes gone and the only memory he has left of him is marisa. This au sure is getting the brain juices pumping THATS FOR SURE

SPLATOON DLC!!!!! aarrggrurahrgh it makes me so excited that they're coming in wAVES!!!! i feel like there might be two more waves bc of the 4 in colours behind the words expansion pack and the 4 tapes under the wave 1 screen but idk that might just be me grasping at straws shkdjfgh wave 1!!! hOUHRUHGRHG INKOPOLIS PLAZAAA ;;;;;;;; i think it was really funny that the whole fandom lost their shit at the dlcs being announced n then after getting over the adrenaline collectively decided that wave 1 doesn't actually do shit shkjdfhg but honestly i like it! splatsville feels a bit big for me plus i never got to play splat1 that much so it's nice getting to see where it all started. also sQUID SISTERS PERFORMING AGAIN ;;;;; i Love that their city of colours instrumental didn't change but their singing clearly did, and they look older noww!! ;; and also their clothes do the glowy glow now too!!!! so happy for them -w- also ss is my fav idol group of the three (but the other two aren't far behind so it's not rlly significant jskjhdfg) so obv i'm excited to see them again ;;;; i hope that w bringing back the plaza they also bring back AT LEAST the arcade minigames and everything, bc it looks like the arcade machine is still present in the plaza (but i might be tripping so don't take my word for it :p

AND THEN WE HAVE SIDE ORDER ouruhrhghgh god idc if there was barely any info in that teaser but gOD was it pretty. the music box?? everything was so. Different. just the teaser itself felt like this Huge leap from the usual energy of splatoon in almost every aspect, colourless, slow, inquisitive. i'm hoping that the story is deeper w this dlc! maybe even make it feel like an rpg? idk but like, it'd be cool i think if they took the lore stuff in oe, the dialogue, the chat rooms, the Everything, and really tied it into the gameplay instead of making it feel like something you can always just check later if that makes sense? ough i am sO fucking excited for side order,, the music, the aesthetic, the story, the Everthing man aURUGHUGGH

NEXT MY CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND KIRBY'S RTD DELUXE!!!!!!! AWOHHWHGOAWHGA i love kirby rtd ;;;;; it's my very first kirby game!! and one that i'd play over and over and over and over again. i'm so happy that it's getting remade for the switch ;;; absolutely looove the outline thing they did w the characters! i love that they kept the colours nice and bright and fun just like i remember! i'mm not sure yet how i feel about retconning king dedede's design hkdjfhg since rtd was my first game his design there is the one i'm used to n not his earlier design in kirby 64 crystal shards :p but yeah! i really like the merry magoland!! i played it a bit in the demo and it's a fun lil mario party minigame mountain feeling thing -w- aND THE MASK THING IS SO COOL??? U CAN WEAR THEM IN STORY MODE TOO!!!! i think it's really neat that they added the souvenirs to help you in ur playthrough n all that, and they added an easy mode w the magolor help thingy! i'm always a fan of people adding easy modes to games -w- (won't go too into that though bc i could be a whole nother post probably jkdhfgs) ooouhg n then there's the magolor epilogue!!!!! u get to play as the bastard!!!!!!!!!!!! he looks so pathetic n cute i'm sorry hkdjfhg i think it's really cool what they did! the whole upgrading thing n making it a bit more rpg-like which is new for kirby games afaik! oughh i'm really happy that they added new content ><

HE'S ALIVE!!! ngl after katrielle layton flopped i thought they'd never continue the series kdjfhg kat layton didn't even feel like a part of the series it kinda just felt like a spinoff or smth. but he's here! he's alive!!! and i love that the One Background we see is so distinctly layton ;; it's making me think of specifically professor layton and the unwound future. ugh gOD i am so fucking excited to go through another crazy adventure. i remember playing through Every layton game and each and every one has some crazy batshit insane twist at the end and you can Never really figure out what's going to happen until the very end and i LOVE that!!! i remember finishing Azran legacy and feeling a lil bittersweet. i'd wish that i could play it all for the first time again. katrielle layton came around but that was a bit of a letdown ;-; i barely even remember anything from it anymore :p but god. IDK if this is unpopular or not but I don't blame celebrities for getting rid of fans gifts either by selling, re-gifting, or throwing away (even though this one is less ideal. Not just because of it potentially hurting the gifter's feeling but mostly because of the waste).

To use idols as an example, I've seen some of the crazy ass gifts that fan clubs give to them. There was one fanclub who posted their gifts for either iKon's anniversary or one of the member's birthdays a few years back. It was a HUGE pile of stuff. Almost all of it was in designer boxes and bags. This had to be TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars worth of stuff and that was ONE fanclub picture doing this for just ONE anniversary or birthday. So multiple fanclubs probably do this, possibly "single" fans give more than one gift as well, AND this probably happens EVERY ANNIVERSARY or birthday (probably BOTH). I'm gonna suspect they get the same item more than once too. Some khh artists, Gray stands out in my mind, get gifted a lot from fanclubs on anniversaries/anniversaries too. (His aren't as extravagant as iKon's were from what I've seen. It's usually cakes, food, balloons, and things that naturally aren't supposed to last more than a week but it's still PILES worth of stuff)

So to me it makes sense to get rid of them in some way because:

They may not have the room for it. Idols mostly live in dorms together (some khh artists have "one-rooms", or studio apartments as well call them in the US, or even maybe a 1 bedroom apartment but it's still small) and many even share rooms so how will they fit all of that stuff?

Some of these idols and rappers are receiving gifts that they may not even be able to afford yet. So if you're getting multiples of expensive stuff, it only makes sense to sell some things to put some money in your pocket.

Some of the clothes may not fit the person receiving the gift.

I know people want their idols, favorite rappers, or other celebrities to keep the gifts and use them (even when it's someone in your personal life who you gift something to this applies) but really it makes sense why they can't keep everything. But I understand why people may get their feelings hurt regardless. I think I would be hurt too tbh. However, I also think it's important not to over-gift these celebrities cause it's just really not smart. The people who do this extreme type of gift giving are likely trying to buy the person's love which isn't gonna happen.

Side note: but I was told Gwangil comes from a well off family anyway. So people really shouldn't be over-gifting him LOL but iKon too. They were MONSTER rookies + Bobby had won close to 100,000 USD pre-debut (SMTM3 win). They never struggled like that to where fans should feel the need to be financially supporting them that heavy. Note that the fanclub picture was from a few years into iKon's career too so they definitely weren't struggling at this point. It'd be (a bit) different if these were people from poor families or small companies where the group won't make any money for YEARS.

Side note 2: just imagine how many people are giving them ACTUAL money too? There's no reason why they can't just slip cash inside those boxes, bags, and envelopes with the receiver's name on it. I'm sure many are. If you're willing to buy designer items that already costs hundreds or thousands then I'm sure the idea of just putting actual hundreds or thousands in the bags hasn't evaded them.
