OK it's gonna sound overly dramatic but to me, it's people dying. Like. People in active danger and dying, seeing it happen to my own family members while I am powerless to prevent it despite being stressed out the entire time.

And when I say "people dying", I mean in a context of general duress of the "we need to hide in the metro tunnels to survive" type and other sorts of doomed sceneries. The wider context of these dreams is always so insanely bleak man. They're lifeless dreams, and I become the only one left.

Something just hit me, what do you think is Tolkien's "summer" in "kind-as-summer"??? Bcs Elrond is kind but.....summer??? Why summer? What is summer for Tolkien bcs I think "spring" - with the way he is usually characterized as "ever-kind-ever-wonderful" should be a better metaphor?

I live in a country that only has summer (and the occasional rain), no winter/autumn(unless u count the hotter dryer times)/spring, and I CAN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT AC!!! In four seasoned countries summer is beaches and vacations. But I don't see the joy in sunbathing when the sun is ALWAYS ON ME! Summer is humid and hot, no clouds to block the hot rays, sweat everywhere (not to mention being in a crowded space).

So "kind-as-summer". Summer is time with most sun, usually good for agriculture, but too much is too little rain, kills those greeneries. Maybe it actually means, Elrond is kind yea, but he sure as hell knows when to pull out his sword - he's knows his self-worth and knows how to not let ppl take adv of his kind heart.

(Love the idea that Elrond's - and Elros's - calmer/whimsical Sindarin roots are balanced with the Noldoran *cough* Feanorian *cough* fiery spirit : remember there's forest fire, but also candle-fire, camp-fire, and hearth-fire)

Ok so I feel like Tolkien was going from what he knew best - English summers.

Especially back then, the only months with truly warm temperatures where people could actually go out and have fun would have been summer months (June-August.) It was probably the only pleasant time of the year with warm breezes and the surroundings finally full of greenery. Idk much about agriculture but I think crops rely on the summer sun and dryer temperatures to properly grow. There’s more danger of a too wet summer than too dry or hot and it causes all kinds of problems. Generally summer is the most gentle and giving season.

Springs meanwhile are cold, stormy, and generally damp. It’s not warm enough for children to play or families to go out without precaution (coats, umbrellas, gloves even.) The sun doesn’t come out for weeks, sometimes months, at a time. The wind is cold enough to freeze you inside out for most of it. The days are still fairly short until May. Plants start growing and you see blossoms but most of them are short lived. It’s not a very kind season tbh.

(Ofc climate change and all that means weather’s going haywire so I’m going by early-mid 1900s England climate which is something I have briefly researched and would’ve been Tolkien’s experiences.)

BUT I love your analysis and it makes total sense for Elrond to be described as Summer for his fire too, hidden away but strikes hard and fast when needed as an all encompassing fire. Only takes a spark to start a forest fire right?

No matter how kind summer is, there’s an inherent fierceness and danger to it.

Just like no matter how kind Elrond is, if you push too far… well. You won’t like what you find. This guy survived some of the most dangerous periods of the First and Second Age for a reason.

(And I love your idea of the whimsical and fiery spirits encased in Elrond! The comforting fire of the Last Homely House, inviting people in away from danger and cold, mixed with the inherently joyous surroundings of laughter and playful teasing we see in the wood elves as a whole! And ofc the pure magical feeling that we definitely would’ve seen in places like Doriath to make that whimsical setting that takes all your stress away. Elrond’s infused it into his realm, he’s really the best mix of it all.)

I do! I don't get that many, so it's not overwhelming, and I just like to respond. As I said somewhere else, my experience in the GO fandom has been mostly a solitary one (recently not so much though!) so I just like to interact whenever I can.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

I'm going to consider only the GO ones because I feel like the others have been written by another me entirely (also I'm not sure I even remember them).

So it's definitely Let There Be Rock.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I'd say all of them, but Take a Little Love From has a proper epilogue and everything. I guess their happiness has more space there than elsewhere.

Do you write crossovers?

I have in the past, but not anymore.

Not that I know of.

Not really. I LOOOOVE reading smut (especially in those chonky slow burn fics), but I can't bring myself to write explicit smut for some reason. I love describing the tension and the heat of the moment (I love UST so much I'm going to marry it tbh - like nothing makes me happier/hornier than two people who want to fuck each other but can't for some reason - am I edging myself? IDK) but when it comes to my own writing I feel like spelling out the details just ruins the moment. I do think it's my ace showing in some way. But, anyway, I read the filthiest filth so this definitely doesn't apply to reading. And who knows, maybe one day I'll try! I'm not ruling anything out.

No, but I used to translate HP fics back in the day (from English to Italian). We're talking 20 years ago. And it's funny when you think about it, because I translate novels for work now 🤣

Yes, always back in the day with HP. I'm still friends IRL with the girl I wrote them with (we actually met because of HP) (this is as good a time as any to say FUCK YOU JKR).

What's your all-time favourite ship?

This depends on the hyper-fixation of the moment. I cannot multitask with my OTPs. If I get obsessed with a new one, I retire the previous one. Like I could split my life into different time periods just based on my OTPs. Ron/Hermione has been my personality for YEARSSSS, but now I can barely think about HP without cringing. Another BIG ONE was Clint/Natasha from the MCU (which explains my look here on Tumblr), but the MCU as a whole has gone a bit stale for me (with few exceptions). And now it's all about Crowley/Aziraphale - it's so bad I had to unretire from fanfiction writing after almost 10 years LOL.

(I like many other ships but not to the point of *obsession*).

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

The only one I can think of is a Clintasha Actors AU, but I don't think I have it anymore, and I wouldn't finish it even if I had.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogues and banter are my favourite things to write, and I think it shows.

What are your writing weaknesses?

English is not my first language, so my writing lacks variety I think. I feel like I have always the same phrases stuck in my head, so it's probably kind of repetitive, especially when compared to some of the fics I read. (But when I started writing my first GO fic in English I wasn't even sure I could *actually* do it, so I'm proud of myself either way!).

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I think it's okay! I personally would ask a native speaker to help me (if possible) instead of going the Google Translate route. Being Italian and watching/reading almost exclusively in English I know how silly it sounds when the characters start speaking your language and they're saying nonsense (but no harm done even in this case, imo, especially in fanfics. In movies, though, it's just lazy!).

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

HP, back in 2004 (welp).

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

None, thankfully. If I'm writing fanfic it means I'm in the late stage of hyperfixation and I don't wish that on myself if I can help it. Like I used to read 50+ books a year before GO S2. It's bad!!!

They also have some pretty valid and intriguing conversations, really.

The impression I get is that they want to stay close, but deep down know it's better not to because they're so messed-up and would be even more messed-up as friends or else (and maybe it's the or at least one of the reasons why they attract each other?), but there's some frustration in that acknowledgement too. Like, doing something because you should is not the same as doing it because you want to and... Well.

But then he finally speaks out loud and it feels deeper and more meaningful as well? I don't know. Maybe I'm becoming insane.

Lestat went like 3 pages without mentioning Armand's beauty. I'm proud of him.

Some of the words Lestat has used to describe Armand so far: beautiful, sublime, ethereal, exquisite, perfect, soft, saint, angel (there's more, but it's been so many synonyms for beautiful I can't remember... still, you get the point). Not to mention comparing him to a Caravaggio and Da Vinci paintings.

I feel like he'll run out of words to describe him pretty soon.

And it's clear as a day that they can't stay together anymore, he's slowly coming to the realization he's losing everything and everyone he knows and will soon be alone again... I'm (not) fine.

Also, this is so BPD-coded of him. He's had these pretty sad and traumatic moments, but he never allowed himself to feel those emotions for too long, he always found stuff to distract himself with, tried to see the "the good side" of things, embrace them, be positive instead etc, but you can only ignore it so much until it becomes such a big problem you can't possibly avoid anymore. And then the emotion hits 9483958345x harder than it would have if you processed things properly and had better coping mechanisms. Like, I get him, but OMG. Get him some vampire therapist.

Who am I? INTRODUCTION

Alright, so I've been here for like..half a year now? I actually don't entirely know, but ish 6 months. But I feel like I want to introduce myself. Idk why.

- So. Hi. I'm tohjwcc.. I honestly wanna change it, but I'm scared people won't recognize me if I do so haha. So, I guess I'm stuck with it for a lil while longer. Guess I'm just a "normal" (heck I'm not, I'm weird as f-) teenager...ehm, well, going to highschool after summer. Yasammy/cc/ct nerd, basically.

- My personality is complicated. For any camp cretaceous fan, I can easily describe myself as a softer version of Yaz. I have a strong Yaz side, but another big piece of my personality is just quirky and weird and funny (people say I'm funny.. so I hope they're telling the truth lol). But also, I've been told... SO. MANY. TIMES.... That I'm too nice for my own good. I'm kind and nice to everyone. I can't be mean to anyone. At least not on purpose. That is one thing that separates me and Yaz from being completely identical (personalitywise) (which again isn't entirely true, my quirky and weird side is bigger than my serious/Yaz side. I'm basically the yasammy icon. That quirky side could be referred to as Sammy lol.) But ofc there are other small stuff that also separates us two a little but yeah. (Tbh idk... I haven't really figured myself out yet. Idk what I am like, I just wanna be like Yaz cuz I love her so deeply and I can really relate to her in so many different ways. - I started watching camp cretaceous when season 3 had been released. I was in my "Jurassic world era", so I had been watching all the Jurassic world movies (ish), so I guess I just wanted to rewatch some of them again, and then I saw it. "Jurassic world camp cretaceous". I was like "OoO". I began to watch it, and fell in love with it IMMEDIATELY. Also, a funny fun fact, I started watching it when I was 12. And now I'm 15. This means I was as old as the youngest character when I started watching it, and I am NOW as old as the OLDEST characters are in the show. This show has been with me through all my teenage years so far. I'm so greatful for this show and these campers. They helped me through so much, and I could never thank them enough.

-The jwcc character i can relate most to is Yaz. 10000%. Like I said before, she is so me. My friend says I'm a Yaz, and she once said I even looked like Yaz, which is cool, but idk how cuz I'm not a brunette haha. But these are the bestest compliments I've ever gotten.

sure, thanks for asking! my top favorite characters don't necessarily correspond to my top favorite media so it's great we're differentiating them.

top 10 favorite media (in no particular order):

never let me go by kazuo ishiguro (novel) — this one is a slow burn, a bit heartbreaking. I still don't know how to describe the feeling the story left me with. it's like... contemplative, and bittersweet? there is also a movie version as well; watch it if you want to see andrew garfield screaming.

orpheus and eurydice (greek myth) — what can I say? it's tragic, but the love was there. it's tragic because there was love. I like any media that touches on their story. hadestown is probably the most popular, but I'd like to recommend eurydice by aucoin and ruhl.

the good place (tv show) — funny, genuinely good story, has a lot of heart. love kristen bell in it. there's also a podcast from the cast talking about the behind the scenes.

you're the worst (tv show) — tbh I think it's just because one of the characters reminds me of my ex, so some of the scenes felt extremely personal lmao. also, I watched the season 3 finale during a breakup, which is the worst time to watch that scene. but it's genuinely a fascinating show about "terrible" people getting into relationships. tackles some heavy topics, has some dark humor. season 4 was kind of a mess, but the way they ended this show in season 5 is exactly how I think it should've ended.

the world ends with you (video game) — the ideal way to experience this game is to play it as a teenager or young adult, like specifically at that age range (but later on is fine too).

nier automata (video game) — love when video games talk to me (the player). love games whose story can only exist as a game. did you know you can go through the amusement park level without killing a single machine except for the boss fight? also, there's a youtube video of the english voice actors reading the concert script.

gravity rush (video game) — it's a shame the studio behind this was shut down. it was such a unique game to me, and the world building is fascinating. falling around as kat and exploring the world felt relaxing and fun.

shinsekai yori (anime/novel) — this was originally a novel (there's a translation here) but I first experienced it through the anime adaptation. it's not the kind of story that's my favorite because I watched it a bunch of times. I only watched it once or twice, but the story still stayed with me, and it made me contemplate on the consequences of empathy. I watched it at the same time as psycho pass, and tbh I think that's a pretty good way to watch it. you appreciate both series more when comparing them. the novel translation I linked is pretty good too.

dishonored (video game) — 11/10 art direction, stealth mechanics, world building. it's just a really fun game. I wish fortiche (studio that animated the arcane series) could make a dishonored animation, but alas

edmund and lucy pevensie (chronicles of narnia, c.s. lewis) — technically cheating since this is two characters. whatever. they're the heart of this series, to me

emma woodhouse (emma, jane austen) — tbh I need to read more austen books besides emma and pride and prejudice. but emma is really so wonderfully flawed and entertaining. she thinks she's soooo clever. I like that about her. also this book is such a delight because it's just a bunch of characters who think they're clever at the regency era social game. plus the movie version stars anya taylor-joy. she's great. I love her

namine (kingdom hearts) — she's in my url, after all. re:com was actually my first kh game. kh can't end without sora thanking her

kisa tachibana (jack jeanne) — otome heroine, but it's important to realize that I think she's a weird theater girl (affectionate) who heavily uses avoidance (through theater!) as a coping mechanism. you will not get this from the game except for like, one scene. there are some hints of this in the side materials. but yeah this is like. a very specific interpretation of her, probably not even the intended interpretation for her. also, she's got gender thoughts that I wish she'd interrogate for herself, but she won't, but that's what also makes her interesting imo

shen yuan (svsss) — if there's ever a guy you'd want to put their brain under a microscope, it's him

cheng xiaoshi (link click) — studio lan researched how to create "sincere guy you'd want to protect" and perfected it in cheng xiaoshi. big heart, an actual angel. but he's actually really clever, if people would just let him exercise that cleverness

kaneki ken (tokyo ghoul) — another character whose arc is "kindness leads to tragedy." hm. (also: I like haise and his relationship with arima. this is important for you to understand what I like about kaneki)

lelouch vi brittania (code geass) — I was this close to putting cg in my top 10 media list, especially for the poetry of its ending. but tbh it's the characters that make it great. some aspects of the show did not age well. but anyway. he's one of the best characters to have been created in anime imo, but most people nowadays know him from the soup store meme

wanderer (genshin impact) — genshin's writing fluctuates in quality, but they truly knocked it out of the park with wanderer. and his story isn't even over yet! (he's got the albedo/durin plotline and dottore plotline to follow up on)

shuichi saihara (danganronpa V3) — (major spoilers for the game incoming) favorite dr protagonist. actually feels like I'm a detective when playing him. love the trust/doubt and truth/lie theme going on. dr protagonist who doesn't push for hope as the answer against despair. dr protagonist who lies and commits perjury in court. dr protagonist whose game plan was to ask everyone in the final trial to commit group suicide with him to end the danganronpa franchise. we don't know if he's actually a "real" person, or a scripted one. he's great, but you have to go through DR1 and SDR2 to truly appreciate him imo (you cannot play V3 as your first danganronpa game)

honorable mention to yin yu from tgcf. he couldn't make it to the top 10, but he's up there. tgcf is my least favorite of the three mxtx novels, but yin yu is one of the realest and most human characters mxtx has written, imho.

oh no problem i don't think it was like a terrible post on the relative scale of internet takes, but op pissed me off lol like a native canto speaker spoonfeeds you info and you just refuse to engage with it. it's not even being curious it's just dense as hell. they eventually came around but man the reading comprehension-

anyways the canto accent—idk how to describe it tbh. some of the syllables sound more canto? like the way they're broken up and which words get more emphasis etc. tons of ppl (on bilibili) said it sounds like very realistic/authentic "guangpu" which is shorthand for cantonese accented standard chinese. the best example of this imo is when he says 本领嘛 (běnlǐng ma) in the suanni papercut teaser; the stress/emphasis on each syllable like separates them a lot more than in mando? ben and ling especially sound sharper when he said it, like if you use more force w your tongue/lips to pronounce the b and l sounds. i am not a linguist so this could be completely off (but there's more unrelated talk about canto vs mando under the cut)

the more explainable thing he does is use phrases that aren't used in standardized mandarin. 我埋单(wo3 máidān) ("my treat" in eng dub) is a canto phrase—i think(?) mandarin speakers would say 我结账 (wo jiézhàng). 埋 means bury in mandarin, but in cantonese it can mean to close/settle (accounts), or come together (as in closing a wound). closing the check in this case ig. importantly 埋单(canto) and 买单(mǎidān, mandarin) do not mean the same thing (unlike i originally thought haha), even though the tones are v similar

he also says 勤力点 (qínlì diǎn) during the suanni trailer which i assume would be 尽力点 (?) (jìnlì diǎn) in mando, they both mean the same thing (to work hard) it's just diff words. qin is the first word of qinkuai 勤快, hardworking

Back when I wasn't writing fanfic yet, I made a little document where I just threw all my thoughts, and part of that was designs for the planets! I just steal from that haha

For example, Uranus originally didn't have a single braid, actually! He just had long hair with lots of braids scattered within it but when I started writing somehow I just fell upon the idea of him having one braid and now it's a permanent part of my idea for him XD

Versus Earth, he's basically stayed the same the entire time LOL - fun fact, I used to be part of the DSMP fandom and even to this day it's stuck within me bc I just imagine Earth dressing up like C!Dream in all the fanarts (the whole cropped hoodie with tight clothes underneath it) and now that's stuck in my design for him XD Also, I usually imagine him with an ISS hair-clip in his hair bc it just appeared in my mind one day and I was like YES

First of all, sorry if it's written weird, English is not my first language and I'm in need of a few days of sleep lmao :') also this is very long because I have no idea how to write concisely to save my life, so, sorry for your eyes? brain? Idk but sorry

1 - I'm AFAB genderqueer, might be a demigirl ? idk gender is confusing. anyways, I use any pronouns because I'm extra like that lmao, and I prefer my sexuality to stay unlabelled for now

3 - I'm rather small (163cm/5'4") and kinda pudgy. I would not say I'm plus size but I'm definitely thicker than average, especially around my hips and thighs (stretch marks n cellulite gang WYA). I used to be very insecure about it but thankfully I got better at loving myself (still working on it but I'll get there eventually). I'm also getting a tattoo on my upper left arm very soon (inspired by Kafka's Metamorphosis because yes) and hopefully some more piercings (I only have triple lobe for now). my hair's light brown and very short, I buzzed it back in August and I'm growing it out. Yes, I do have a terrible case of bed head. I also trim my eyebrows to be very short, makes it easier to do my makeup. Almost forgot to talk about my eyes, but basically they're blue-ish green and usually overshadowed by the huge dark circles I have. I don't dress according to one particular style, although I enjoy being in full goth fashion, makeup and all. I would probably describe my style by 'satanic grandma' because as much as I love my band shirts and inverted crosses, I also cannot live without my extensive collection of grandpa sweaters and ugly ties.

4 - I'm an introvert - and an awkward anxious ball of nerves at that, but I don't mind stepping up to the task in social situations if the people I'm with are not comfortable ordering food/asking a question. I usually am very cautious of how I act with new people I meet as I am autistic and don't want to 'scare them off' or make them uncomfortable. However, if we vibe, you get to know the still anxious but also very silly me. I especially love coming across other people that are on the spectrum, because we usually have a certain understanding of each other's way of acting and just be silly together. Speaking from experience with my closest friends, at least (not generalizing autistic people !!).

5 - I've been hyperfixating on Ghost for a good while now, but apart from that I'm very much interested in art. Learning about it of course, but also making it (I'm in art prep class rn and it's kicking my ass, send help). Drawing, writing, taking photos, making zines and stuff... hopefully after prep class I can get into a proper art school and study illustration, and maybe look into becoming a graphic novel author. My favorite artists would probably be Dora Maar, Gustave Doré and Gustav Klimt tbh. I also have an interest in geopolitics and history, especially in the Middle Ages' witch hunts and black death, but also in more recent topics such as the satanic panic. Basically all things occult and satanic. I also love internet horror media such as ARGs, like My house.wad or the Hypnagogic Archive. Music taste wise, I listen to everything, but my favorite genres are hard rock and metal. I'd say my all time fav artists are Ghost, Slayer (South of Heaven walked so that Year Zero could run, change my mind), Iron Maiden, SOAD, Twin Temple, Radiohead, alex g and Mitski.

6 - I'm a huge cat person but I also very much love crows and rats and reptiles and overall all the animals that would seem weird to keep as pets. Also I love love LOVE having deep conversations about complicated philosophical topics at night in a calm spot at a party or smth, specifically while drinking off-brand soda. Idk why I included this, I just thought of it and I'm too tired to question how my sleep deprived brain thinks right now.

How old is Eddie Diaz?

So I noticed a thing in the graveyard sneak peek for 6x15, or rather two things:

Shannon's last name is actually Diaz!

I wasn't sure about that one since I don't think it was ever mentioned on the show. Now it's obviously it's not far fetched to assume that she took Eddie's last name when they got married, especially since Christopher's last name is Diaz as well. Though I didn't want to make that assumption since my parents are married, both kept their names and I got my father's name since my parents drew lots.

Shannon was born in 1992

Now that really threw me since I generally assume that the characters are around their actors' age. According to wiki, Devin Kelley (Shannon's actress) was born in 1986 (at least according to the non-English pages, on the English one and imdb no birthyear is given). This would make Shannon about six years younger than her actress. Ryan Guzman was born in 1987. If Eddie is Ryan's age then he's about 5 years older than Shannon which does not fit my image of them or the fandom's I think. I've often seen them described as high school sweethearts with the assumption that Shannon got pregnant in high school or right out of high school. That actually would not make sense if Shannon was indeed born in 1987.

Christopher was born in 2011, according to the fandom wiki, which does make sense since he's 7 in 2A aka 2018. That means that Shannon - born in 1992 - was about 19 at his birth and 18 when she got pregnant. If Eddie was born in 1987, then he'd been 24 (and 23) at those points. Now personally I don't really like that idea tbh.

But now let's assume that Eddie was born in about '92 as well. Then him and Shannon could actually have met in school, been in a relationship in school and Eddie might have entered the army right after school to monetarily support his wife and child.

If Eddie was born in '92-ish that would also mean that there is hardly any age difference between him and Buck who, according to the fandom wiki, was born in '91 or '92.

Personally I did always imagine Eddie to be older than Buck by a few years so yeah idk.

So to sum it up:

Shannon was born in 1992.

Does that mean that Eddie was born in '87 (like Ryan), meaning that Shannon got pregnant when she was 18 and he 23?

Does that mean that Eddie was born in '92-ish too, meaning that there is hardly any age difference between him and Buck?

I’m rereading the Hunger Games trilogy and I’ll be doing posts for each book to talk about some things that caught my attention and the differences between books and movies.

Here’s about Catching Fire:

It confirms Gale has 3 siblings, 2 boys and a girl. Their names are Rory (12 yo), Vick (11 yo) and the girl’s name is Posy (4 yo). His mother’s name is Hazelle.

Gale pretends to be Katniss’ cousin so people don’t get suspicious about whatever could’ve happened between Katniss and him.

Every victor has to choose a talent since they don’t need to work anymore so they can be interviewed by the Capitol to know more about what they’re doing. This is not mentioned in the movies. Peeta chooses painting since he was the one who decorated the bakery’s cakes. Katniss chooses fashion design since she refuses to choose singing, so she gets in touch with Cinna through a telephone and they get closer because of this, and he makes some designs that he lets Katniss pretend to be hers.

At some point victors’ children were reaped and participated in the games. This seemed to be a recurring thing.

It’s talked about how Haymitch got more sponsors for Katniss than Peeta in the arena, and how he had chosen her to be the one he would help more in the games because he believed she had more chances than Peeta.

Citizens in district 11 are more controlled than in 12, and the Peacekeepers are also more brutal.

Katniss would take some pills during the Victory Tour so she could get better sleep. However those pills didn’t really have any effect besides making her have more nightmares. Because of them Peeta would sleep with Katniss every night during the Tour.

During the Capitol’s party for the Victory Tour, when Plutarch is with Katniss, he shows her a watch with the Mockingjay symbol in it. This was him trying to show Katniss he was on her side.

Katniss gets closer with Madge.

That scene when Katniss suggests to Gale of running away. He tells her he loves her and she responds by saying she cannot think of anyway in that way at the moment. When he hears about the rebellion starting in district 8 he decides to not rum away with her. That scene when Gale and Katniss see the cars with the Peacekeepers arriving in 12 doesn’t exist in the book.

Later Katniss asks Peeta to run away with her, who accepts. But when they were talking about it they hear a noise and go after the source. There Peeta sees Gale being beaten up by one of the Peacekeepers, he tries to stop Katniss from seeing it.

Gale doesn’t stop a Peacekeeper from hitting a citizen in 12, the reason why he’s being beaten up is because he confessed to hunt illegally.

At some point when Katniss goes hunting alone, she meets two people, a woman in her 30s and a girl with the same age as Katniss, who are from district 8, they had ran away to go to district 13.

Katniss mom reveals her friend, Maysilee Donner, was one of the female tributes of the 50th Hunger Games.

When the Quarter Quell is announced, Katniss doesn’t go into the woods like in the movies, she invades one of the houses in the Victors’ Village.

Peeta throws away all alcohol Haymitch has so he could be sober.

Peeta and Katniss watch other Games and train like Careers for the quarter quell.

Katniss’ chariot costume doesn’t catch fire in the book, it’s described as sparkling (idk if that was the term used in the english version).

The whole elevator scene with Johanna is different in the movies. Tbh I prefer the movie scene lol. In the book she talks specifically with Katniss, telling her how she likes her chariot outfit and she also liked one of Katniss’ outfits from her Victory Tour. She takes off her clothes before they all go in the elevator, and during the ride she talks with Peeta about his paintings. Chaff and Seeder from district 11 are also in the elevator. Haymitch isn’t in the scene.

After that scene in the book Peeta tells Katniss the reason why Finnick talked with her, as well as Chaff kissed her and also why Johanna took off her clothes in front of her, he tells her is because she’s pure.

Johanna gets naked again during training. Katniss trains a while not only with Wiress and Betee (like in the movies) but also with Cecelia and Woof (district 8), Cashmere and Gloss, Enobaria

Katniss doesn’t personally see Peeta’s painting of Rue in the book.

Both Peeta and Katniss get a 12 (the highest score) at training.

Katniss and Peeta spend one of the last days before the Games in the terrace of their floor in the training center having a picnic while Peeta draws Katniss.

After the final interview with Ceasar Flickerman Finnick and Johanna try to take the elevator with Katniss and Peeta, but a peacekeeper doesn’t let them.

Peeta doesn’t know how to swim like in the movie. Finnick, felling Katniss to not exercise much because she’s pregnant, goes to help Peeta. Most tributes don’t know how to swim. Beetee figures out the belt everyone has turns into a floater.

Katniss’ “pregnancy” is mentioned a few times, way more than in the movie.

That scene where Katniss aims her bow and arrow at Finnick near that tree (movies), in the book she actually aims at Enobaria. She is about to shoot her when she remembers what Haymitch told her.

ive just finished reading a book that shattered my heart into infinite pieces and i am not even joking a bit. i knew that the book was as good once i started crying and tears never stopped. i think 70% of that book was me crying. now i have swollen eyelids lol. i never cried so much over something since i watched Hachiko the movie. like real sob, sounds coming out from my mouth, the real hurting package thing :(

now i need another book as beautiful as this one. and i don’t think i would recovered from this one yet. she even mentionned one direction’s songs to describe the relationship between the two mc. i am fucking torn. oh btw the book is « a thousand boy kisses » by Tillie Cole. have you ever heard about it?

Okay, first of all, thanks for sending me this bestie it really hit me in the chest because a) i cant believe ive had that level of impact on someone else's life and in such like a cute little way? And b) because everything youve just described is exactly what i was doing too!! Like using my little fanfictions to escape to, romanticising my dreary/lonely little life and using it to imagine a better future for myself...

Like, i started writing Oxygen when id broken up with my abusive ex, was livibg alone in a student flat, id lost ALL my pals to said ex, i was floundering at uni feeling stuck and alone and like, i used to get stoned and listen to the national and live in this little daydream which was that story and its probably one of the only reasons i survived that year!

And The Ride, i had the idea for that when i was trapped at my grandparents painting their house for them. That whole bit at the beginning where Maria is painting the B&B stemmed from a days daydreaming trying to romanticise my dreary little life.

Basically most of the fics i wrote were me creating the characters i wanted to be more like, like fliss and saffron, i wanted to be that kind of positive, confident, carefree girl and writing the characters helped me believe that I could be more like that.

And like idk, you really summed up what i was doing for me, and I'm glad u were able to romanticise your life too! I think its an underrated and important coping mechanism tbh, if you cant daydream up a better reality for yourself, how can u ever achieve a better reality for yourself?

I also think thats maybe why I don't write as often now too, generally my lifes much better than it was, I'm happier, i dont need to imagibe these friends for myself because i have a really solid group of friends, and I have B and im cared about and no ones out to hurt me anymore. So i dont need to escape to my fanfictions so much anymore idk.

Still sometimes its lovely to revel in nostalgia isnt it.

Also omg i cant believe u read those books cause of me, and heard the strokes cause of me, thats so fucking cool <3 <3 im glad we were friends back then and had eachother, i think thats so cool that without knowing eachother we've had that impact on one another (because honestly the people who read my fics and comment and send me anons have all supported me and made me feel less alone and lame)

i was tagged by @sorrowfulliming and @heesulovebot thank you both so much, I had a lot of fun doing this list! ❤️ I tried to choose some shows that have had kind of played a significant role in my life in one way or another, maybe you'll learn a bit more about me through this idk

one tree hill (2003 - 2012) i feel like this one is the most important show if you want to know me. It's half of my personality. I grew up with this show and all of these characters mean the absolute world to me, I relate to them on a deep level and I've rewatched all 9 seasons of this so many times that if you tell me a quote from the show I can tell you who said it and in what context and season (maybe even episode) it was said. It's probably the best teen drama ever made and except for lack of representation (which i can excuse to some extent because it started airing in the early 00s) this is really something everyone can and should watch. Nothing beats the friendships in this show. I'm still searching for the brooke & haley to my peyton tbh

the vampire diaries (2009 - 2017) this show is very special to me because I started learning english more intensely and on my own outside of school because I couldn't wait until they were showing the eps with german dub half a year after they originally aired. I had to wait 4 years until the show made stefan & caroline a couple and no other ship has ever come close to how I felt (and still feel) about them. best friends to lovers will always get me and they did it so well. we do not talk about anything after 7x05, the show ended there for me tyvm. they were by far the best part of the show for me since I dislike a lot of the decisions the show made a lot of the time. but they were the reason I created a tumblr account back in 2015 that I've since forgot the name and password for 😂 it was an account dedicated to making icons for tvd. ugh i miss shows with multiple seasons and 24 eps for each season

blueming (2021) this bl drama is always gonna be important to me since it made me decide to choose film as the thing I want to major in. I got really into independent movies after watching blueming because the cinematography of it astounded me and I wanted to learn more about it and how to create beautiful shots like those in the drama myself. I also rewatch it frequently. siwon is very dear to me.

taxi driver (2021 - 2023) i debated if i should put this or the devil judge/flower of evil/happiness here because i love them all dearly and they're all tied for my fav kdramas of all time but this one was the first kdrama i watched weekly as it aired and I was so obsessed with it and its cases and characters. i love darker themes and case-by-case dramas, it's my favorite genre when it comes to korean shows. kim doki is such a dear character to me and i love the way jehoon plays him. words can't describe how happy i am that it's back on my screen and just as good as it always was. (plus pyo yejin is one of my biggest celebrity crushes i love her sm)

the haunting of hill house (2018) one of the greatest shows ever made and imo the best of its genre. ep 6 of this show especially impressed me so much because it just consists of multiple one-shots. i love mike flanagan, he's my favorite director and if you're into psychological horror i more than recommend watching this and midnight mass because they're both masterpieces. mike has this way of connecting horror and sadness and he does it so so well. I could write essays about his filmmaking and he's my biggest inspiration when it comes to film.

my engineer (2020) this was the first bl I was really invested in, I even bought tickets to the online fanmeeting which i usually never do for anything. these characters and actors really helped me get through the lockdowns in 2020. one of the few bls where they managed to give everyone their fair screen time and made everyone's story enjoyable to watch. also very important part of why i loved watching it was the lack of fanservice they made the actors do and that we got them all in one room reacting to every episode together. it was the best and i wish more shows would do it.

light on me (2021) oh what a show. even though I don't like the ending and I think the last episode had some continuity issues and felt like a second thought in some ways I thorougly enjoyed the ride this drama took me on. the runtime allowed for the show to explore its characters well and made us able to connect with them. i miss that for newer shows a lot. shin daon is and probably will always be my favorite k-bl character, he felt so real and I could see an old version of myself in him. he deserved a lot better and I hope he's off to college living his best life, he deserves it.

one day at a time (2017 - 2020) let me just say that I am NOT a sitcom enjoyer. shows that are targeted to make me laugh usually don't and I get bored early on because I don't get the appeal. nothing against these shows, they just don't speak to me. HOWEVER odaat is a huge exception because I was hooked to the well-balanced use of humor and deep conversations and topics portrayed in this show. plus it also made me laugh!! and sometimes also cry both in the span of 5 minutes. these characters have a special place in my heart. elena halped me a lot in my journey of self-discovery and I loved the way the show portrayed her journey.

bonus: (i know this technically makes it 9 but i didn't know where to put it)

wish you (2021) I'm adding this as well but extra since I only ever watch the movie version of it. it's imo the only kbl that works as a movie. even though not a lot of people love this, it is my most rewatched k-bl (and I think bl in general). I adore Sang Yi, he's a lot like me and watching him be an awkward mess in front of his crush and idol is very cute to watch. the OST for this show is also so good i listen to it all of the time.
