Happy birthday shinichi!!
Here is my Black org. agent!Shinichi AU
Tumblr media
He is an adult here...maybe 25 years old
what if the "tropical land scene" happens when shinichi is still a kid but instead of gin and vodka trying to kill him they adopted and raise him instead. Idk why they would adopt him...just pretend theres a valid reason... the gun in the holster looks small..I know I didn't notice until I finished coloring the strap so just pretends it's the right size...

Okay I'm highlighting Shinran post-confession in London. Gotta appreciate that they're both teenagers in love and feels a little, a lot, awkward after said confession
Me, and my shoujo manga heart : ehehehehehe Hhahahaha YAASSSSSSSS YAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS
Ran spacing out because what the heck happened? Wh a t...
Then there's Shinichi who's feeling kinda embarrassed at his own outburst confession. And then they're both too embarrassed to see each other!
Until there's a point where Shinichi gotta go see Kogoro and Ran himself anyway because they can't solve the code via phone calls like that because Shinichi being Shinichi, his detecting mode always usually in the end trumps his other emotions
But Aoyama-sensei chickened out and said we can't have romance budding too fast in this 700 odd chapters manga yet, so we'll have Conan back instead
Tumblr media
Ran xD did she sleep at all the night before after the confession lol
Tumblr media
Embarrassed Shinichi :3
He even asked Prof Agasa to answer Ran's call lmao these cutiessssss. Shinichi full on blushing the entire time whenever he's thinking of Ran ehe
Ran standing there blushing and her dad is Annoyed xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Ran gotta prepare her heart to see Shinichi in person x3
Tumblr media
Well gotta insert the confession scene ofc
Ran : Shinichi baka!!
Shinichi : idk what you're talking about i LIKE YOU SO MUCH.
Ran and Shinichi : *cue all the blushes*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How... Did Ran managed to get back to the hotel afterwards? In a daze? Did Shinichi walk her back? What was the conversation after that? Aaaaahhhhhhh THEMMMMM 💙💙🌸🌸
Side note : after a short cursory research, I couldn't find the raws to the confession scene so I'm not sure if Shinichi said the word suki (romantically liking someone) like they usually do when confessing, I'm guessing the sentence is something in that manner, so I'm going off of my knowledge of other mangas and little japanese i know lol

ok so I’ve recently been on the Richard Grayson is Peter Parker’s dad and with that came de-aged danny phantom with Jason Todd and thats all cool and everything, but just imagine . . .
detective Conan and Tim drake
like a teenager stuck as a 7 yr old and a teenager who has basically already parented(literally Tim’s parenting Bruce)
a high school detective (shinichi | conan) that’s solved many cases yet as always been left alone with someone else in the same boat
Two people regaining their childhood in many ways with shinichi | Conan not having to dumb himself down around Tim and Tim trying to do things he would’ve wanted his parents to do and having the satisfaction of feeling that . . . like I don’t really know how to describe it(if someone else can in better words pls do?) but this relationship could just be so organic in healing eachother
This could be in the background of like mysteries where the curse of bodies showing up around conan | shinichi happens and Tim is just like wtfff??
also idk if this would happen in the timeline where Tim comes back from the brucequest and I so seriously don’t know how the drug APTX 4869 comes in with this, like does shinichi stay as conan or does he go back to being 17 cs that’s a big part of him.
The dynamic between the two could be really interesting to see

yknow, i love kaishin/shinkai but every time i read an angsty fic (majority) my heart drops so far i feel it in my feet
#mildrant
i keep thinking about how people portray kaito, when to me he’s one of the loneliest possible characters with even fewer people knowing his identity because it can put them in danger. not just that but it also puts HIM in danger, just because he’s wanted by police and forces everywhere he goes— without knowing the actual reasons why. realistically his life is always in danger, more so than shinichi’s. he has the organisation targeting him, police, even detective friends and on top of that having your best friend bash KID: idk but in his position i don’t know how much he’s been through… i sometimes think he’s far more vulnerable because he has to put up more walls and façades.
one reason why i support kaishin is because shinichi doesn’t unnecessarily have a reason to catch him- knowing him he’ll want to find out more and have a proper reason to go after him. he KNOWS kaitou kid isn’t a bad person. he doesn’t know his identity or want to pursue him recklessly, and i should think kaito appreciates his detective a lot. hakuba and aoko give me mixed feelings.. i like aokaito but… i just think relationships based around honesty would be better.
i love aoko, i really do.
kaito really deserves someone who loves and understands him at his best and at his worst. his support system is much smaller than shinichi’s. to top it off, kaito is really devoted to his dad’s cause that he had to pick up OUT OF NOWHERE. that amount of burden after losing his dad, a somewhat absent mom and then finding out about jii san having to take on the mantle… i can’t imagine how much pain is repressed on his part.
in short i really love kaito kuroba as a character and adore him strongly. fics that use his phobia to attack him or to cause him heavy fear saddens me a lot. i still reinstate my point that kaito is one of the loneliest characters i’ve seen and characters that have to play an ‘antagonistic’ role in order to protect people they love and avenge their family just hits really hard
along with magic kaito’s series unlikely to ever get an ending or closure…
Kaito Kuroba deserves so much better.
idk finding people from dcmk comm or kaishin/shinkai fans who have opinions about this
also kaishin/shinkai roleplayers please hmu i’m at a destructive point

First time I'm making a post and it's because of KaiShin cousin reveal. (d@mn)
This'll be very extensive because it's just a rant; I'm just writing as both a fan and a writer having been inspired by the franchise, so scroll past if you want to!
And this'll mainly be about my dissatisfaction and grievance over another decision Gosho Aoyama-sensei did, not about KaiShin as a ship.
I love Gosho Aoyama-sensei's work, Detective Conan, as it was literally the one thing that kept me going each and every time I go to and come back from school. It's one of the main things that has kept me going, and has inspired me to write.
Frankly speaking, without DetCo maybe I wouldn't have been writing at all, and thinking about that kind of saddens me.
One of the major things within DetCo that inspired me to write was of course, our very own beloved thief, Kaito Kid, what with how he was nearly a parallel to Shinichi (geniuses in their own ways but one's a thief that doesn't want anyone getting hurt in his heists and the other's a detective that will not hesitate to kick a soccer ball at a criminal trying to escape (Shinichi does it enough as Conan.))
As someone who has written numerous fan-works and has read the same amount but multiply that to, idk, a thousand? There's the sort of understanding of the fact that a character's past helps make them more relatable to the audience; makes them far more enjoyable, more real, in a sense.
The same way a person is shaped through their past.
One of the very foundations of Kaito Kuroba's character is his trauma; its one of the reasons why he becomes Kaito Kid, taking up the mantle his dad had left behind.
It's one of the main cruxes of his entire character, taking up the mantle of a Phantom Thief that doesn't steal anything. He just wants one THING, the reason his father died.
"Why is he doing this? Because his dad died.
But his dad's alive? So what is he doing this for then?
He didn't know they were alive 👀"
So making his dead dad not-so-dead kinda makes this aspect weak. It's weakening Kaito's character as a whole and is painting Toichi Kuroba in a very, very bad light.
And it's upsetting as a fan for someone whose work was held in such high regard to just, make this seemingly off-hand decision that is somewhat harming the character of one that has been the fan-favorite of many.
And not to mention this is also affecting the fandom itself as shipping is a major thing in fandoms (always has been) and KaiShin is one of the many more populous shipping fanbases there is. No exaggeration. Literally.
That's all from me! I ran out of things to get out of my system and need to move back to writing KaiShin fics to comfort myself on what the hexagon just happened.

The insanity that is the Kudou Yuusaku's Detective Show case 😆
Like I'm not sure how to process that Vermouth managed to capture KID's mannerisms towards Conan almost perfectly (the fact the line "tsundere brat" came from Vermouth, while it was so on point for KID, is kinda hilarious) or Conan letting his guard down because he thought she was KID, therefore harmless to let her in the Kudou manor, when idk Haibara is staying next door.
Shinichi, I know you trust KID with a lot of things, but seriously... He isn't the only master in disguise you are acquainted with, please?! (the fact Vermouth learned these techniques from the first Kaitou KID a.k.a current KID's dad, and no one is any wiser about this is killing me) 😩
Honestly, when and where did Vermouth acquire the knowledge of how KID and Shinichi act with each other outside of the public eye in the first place? Was this the case of playing it by ear from how Shinichi acts in general when he isn't pretending to be a child? Did Vermouth figure out it was KID who appeared as Sherry to save Haibara back during the Mystery Train arc? I have so many questions 😵‍💫
(If KID wasn't a criminal in the eyes of the law though, he could start suing for libel with so many impostors of him appearing all the time LMAO 🤣)

At a Cost Chapter 1
Before reading: This was a fic I initially only posted to ao3, but I've decided to put it here too and see who else is interested in reading it.
Idk how to center text on tumblr, if it's possible, I can edit this and the other chapters to include it.
WARNING: This fic includes sensitive topics such as suicide, so if you are uncomfortable with this, don't read.
Story:
*splash* *splash* *splash* *splash* *splash*
Sumire ran through the rain as water streamed down her face. Was it rain or tears? Sumire didn’t know, she didn’t care.
All she wanted was to just disappear. Nobody would care if it was her. They all wanted Kasumi anyway…
“Su-ire!” A voice called out to her in the distance.
That must be Kasumi, running after her… Why couldn’t Kasumi just leave her alone?
“Sumire!” The voice repeated, much closer now, but still some distance away. “The light’s red!”
The… light?
She felt the pavement beneath her feet switch to asphalt as she continued running. Sumire turned her head to the right and saw a massive truck heading directly toward her. Time seemed to slow down as she saw just how close it was to her… There was no way she could run past it in time.
Sumire began to close her eyes. Is this it?
“Sumire!”
Sumire felt herself get tackled, it was Kasumi. They were almost fully out of the way of the truck when-
*crunch*
When her whole world went black.
***
*beep beep beep beep be-*
Sumire slowly opened her eyes, taking a bit for her pupils to adjust to the light. Her head felt fuzzy as she looked around. There was… a heart monitor to the side of her bed. Was she in a hospital?
It took a little bit for her to remember what happened, then she shot straight up in her bed, her heart rate spiking as she did.
“Kasumi!” Sumire yelled.
“I’m right here…” Kasumi groaned from nearby.
“Oh, thank goodness!” Sumire was suddenly filled with relief, tears running down her face. “I’m so sorry!”
“It’s okay…” Kasumi smiled gently at her. “I’m just glad you’re alright.”
Sumire winced. “No, it’s not! If I hadn’t run off we wouldn’t have been-”
“Shhhh, Sumire… It’s really fine.” Kasumi insisted. “You should lay back down though, Mom and Dad will be here soon and we shouldn’t be exerting ourselves when we don’t even know how injured we are.”
“A-Alright…” Sumire nodded as she laid back down in her bed.
Injuries…
She couldn’t really feel much of anything to be honest… They were probably both on some strong painkillers. She could move her arms and back though… but nothing lower than that. It’s probably nothing… Just a result of the painkillers…
The door opened, admitting both of their parents into the room.
“Sumire! Kasumi!” Akahana, their mother, shouted as she rushed between their beds. “Thank goodness you both are alright…”
“You gave us both quite the scare…” Shinichi said. “Do you know exactly what your injuries are yet or…?”
“The doctor hasn’t come in yet, sorry.” Kasumi shook her head.
“Well… How are you two feeling?” Akahana asked.
“Uhm…” Kasumi thought for a bit. “I don’t know? I can’t really feel anything… and I can’t really move my legs…”
“It’s the same for me…” Sumire told them. “I think it could be the pain killers?”
“Let’s hope that’s the case…” Shinichi replied, considering what the two had said.
At that moment, the door opened again and a doctor walked inside.
“Oh good, everyone’s here.” The doctor said as he looked around.
“Will my babies be okay!?” Akahana shouted in worry.
Sumire was slightly embarrassed by what her mother said, but was also curious about her and Kasumi’s situation. So she kept her mouth shut.
Unfortunately… The doctor shook his head.
“I’m sorry…” The doctor told them. “Your daughters will live but…” He tapped on his clipboard. “Based on the damage we’re looking at right now? They’ll never walk again.”
Sumire’s heart sank.
“Wh-What?” Kasumi asked, blood draining from her face.
Sumire and Kasumi looked at each other. They both knew what this meant…
No more gymnastics. Ever.
As if reading their minds, the doctor turned to them with a sympathetic expression.
“You two are athletes, correct?” He asked to which the two nodded. “I’m afraid you’ll have to quit.”
“Oh…” Kasumi replied sadly.
Sumire, for her part, was more concerned about the fact she ruined their dream for Kasumi… Sure, she enjoyed doing gymnastics, she even strived to be Kasumi’s equal in that field… But to be the reason they could no longer practice together?
That hurt worse than no longer being able to do gymnastics.
“Kasumi… I-I’m so sorry-”
“It’s fine, Sumire…” Kasumi took a deep breath. “I’m not upset with you, I’m just… sad.”
“Kasumi…” Sumire muttered.
Despite her sister’s words, Sumire still felt guilty… She may have had her frustrations recently… but she still never wanted things to turn out this way.
Still… she kept silent as her father spoke up.
“So… They can’t perform anymore…?” Shinichi asked, to which the doctor nodded.
“I’m sorry, but they physically will no longer be able to do any of those activities.” The doctor reiterated. “However, other than mobility, we aren’t seeing anything else of major concern. Every other injury they have will heal with time.”
Their parents breathed out a sigh of relief at this.
“Honestly, you should consider this a miracle.” The doctor told them. “That truck could very easily have killed both of them.”
That wasn’t very relieving to Sumire… What were they supposed to do now that they couldn’t do gymnastics?
“I see…” Shinichi replied. “Thank you, doctor. How long will they have to be in the hospital?”
“Well… From the X-Ray, we took when they got here…” The doctor flipped a page on his clipboard. “Their legs are all broken and they have some fractures along their spine and neck… So a surgery and a few weeks to recover, possibly shorter since physical therapy isn’t really an option, but they’ll have to wear casts until they heal afterward.”
“That’s…” Shinichi shook his head. “Well it’s better than nothing… They wouldn’t be starting school till the 11th of April anyway… Oh wait.” Shinichi sighed as he turned to Sumire and Kasumi. “You two were going to go to Shujin this year on scholarship…”
Shinichi thought to himself for a bit.
“I’m going to make some calls, can you watch over them, hun?” Shinichi asked Akahana, who nodded her head. “Thank you.”
Shinichi left the room, leaving Akahana, Kasumi, Sumire, and the doctor alone.
“Alright, we’re going to take a more in depth look at these X-Rays just in case we missed something.” The doctor told them before bowing. “If there’s an emergency please alert us immediately.”
With that, the doctor left too.
Sumire sighed and rested her head back on her pillow. Guess this would be her life for at least a little while…
Silence filled the room, as no one felt like speaking. Eventually, after about thirty minutes, Shinichi entered the room once more.
“Good news.” He told them. “You two will still be going to Shujin, so we don’t have to redo paperwork for another school, you’ll just be there without the scholarship. So from what it sounds like, you two will be ordinary students there, not honor students.”
That was fine to Sumire, she didn’t really like all the attention that honor students got anyway.
“Okay…” Sumire spoke up and nodded her head slightly.
“Kasumi? Do you have any issue with that?” Shinichi asked.
Kasumi didn’t reply though. Sumire at first thought that maybe Kasumi had wanted to be an honor student… but when she turned to look, Kasumi was lightly snoring. She did sound tired when Sumire first woke up…
“I’m sure she’s fine.” Sumire spoke for Kasumi. “She never seemed to particularly care about being an honor student before.”
“Alright.” Shinichi nodded. “Well… It’s been a long day for both of you, so you should probably get some rest. We’ll tell you if the doctor says anything else, alright?”
Sumire nodded her head. “Okay…”
Following her father’s advice, Sumire closed her eyes. She figured it might have been difficult to fall asleep, but she had no trouble drifting off to sleep at all.
***
Weeks later, Sumire woke up in her bed at home and turned her head to the side. She saw her wheelchair next to her bed, in a perfect orientation that she could lift herself with her arms onto it without any help.
Sumire attempted to move her legs, a fruitless effort she knew, but she couldn’t help but try every day.
Of course, they wouldn’t budge, and Sumire sighed to herself.
With a scoff, Sumire pushed her quilt off of her body until it was only covering her feet, then she slowly and carefully crawled to the edge of the bed. Once on the very edge, she put one arm on her bed and the other on the further armrest of her wheelchair. Then she lifted herself up and brought herself onto the wheelchair seat.
Sumire let out a breath she’d been holding in as she readjusted her seating and put on her glasses that were resting on her bedside table. She moved her legs with her arms to the resting position on the wheelchair, then rested her back against the chair. Sumire then turned on the wheelchair and left her room, going down the hall to the kitchen.
Today was her first day since her surgery without her cast on, which was why she was able to get into her wheelchair without any help. Though as she went through the house, it appeared she was the only one awake right now, which made sense. It wasn’t until tomorrow that she and Kasumi would be starting school at Shujin, so today was a very much needed day off from any stress.
Not that being stuck in a wheelchair all the time was a particularly fun or relaxing time…
Sumire shook her head, there was a more important part of having the cast off today: She could finally cook for herself again.
Sumire imagined it’d be more difficult in a wheelchair, but since she wasn’t at risk of injuring her legs while doing so, she was a bit more confident in trying now. Technically she wasn’t supposed to be cooking without help, but for the sake of being able to at least cook on her own, Sumire decided to do so anyway.
First things first: What does she want to eat?
Hmmm…
Sumire went towards a low easy to reach cabinet, grabbed a pot, and put it on the countertop. That was easy enough, and she gained even more confidence in her ability to cook whilst disabled as a result.
Sumire then decided to start getting some ingredients. She got some rice from another cabinet along with a few other ingredients before closing it. She then went back over to where she left the pot and placed them there.
Sumire began humming to herself as she got back into the familiar routine of cooking, and she actually smiled for the first time in weeks.
“Now… What else?” Sumire asked herself. “Ah! How about some spices?”
Sumire then turned her chair and headed towards the spice cabinet before stopping suddenly.
It was too high above the counter for her to reach while stuck to the chair.
Sumire looked down at her legs. She tried to kick with them, to stand up, to do anything.
No response. Sumire groaned.
Sumire thought about leaving the kitchen to get her mother or father to help her… but she quickly shot down that idea in her mind. This is one of the few things she could potentially do on her own.
With that thought in mind, Sumire reached up to the counter and pushed herself up above it with both of her arms. Once her waist was above the counter, she turned herself to sit on it. Sumire adjusted her position until she was sure she wouldn’t fall, then reached up to the cabinet and opened it.
She then took a few spices out of the cabinet as well as a couple of seasonings and placed them on the counter next to her. Now… the difficult part.
Sumire lifted herself up with her arms once again, with the intention to get back into her wheelchair and bring the spices and seasonings to the other ingredients. However, this quickly proved to be quite tricky, as she couldn’t seem to leverage her weight properly to get back into the chair.
As she was working out how to get back into her chair, Sumire’s hand slipped off of the counter.
“Woah!” Sumire cried out as she fell off.
She landed on her chair with only her upper body, which ended up pushing it away from her, then she fell forward onto the floor, her glasses flying off her face in the process. She managed to break her fall with her hands and arms, but it still hurt.
“Owww…” Sumire groaned as she found herself face first on the floor.
Before she could get herself off the floor and back to her wheelchair, she heard someone enter the room.
“Sumire!? What happened!?” Akahana cried out as Sumire lifted her head to see her mother.
“I… I wanted to cook…” Sumire admitted shamefully.
Akahana quickly made her way over to Sumire, lifting her up and back into her wheelchair before looking her over. Once satisfied, she grabbed Sumire’s glasses, which were surprisingly not broken, off of the floor and gave them back to Sumire, who put them on.
“You don’t seem to be injured…” Akahana let out a sigh of relief. “...But what on earth were you thinking!? If you wanted to cook you could have just gotten me to help you!”
“I wanted to do it on my own…” Sumire muttered.
Akahana sighed again, this time in empathy. “I understand, Sumi… But please, for your own safety, please ask someone to help you next time!”
“Okay…” Sumire muttered with a nod.
Akahana then looked around. “Well, you said you wanted to cook, and it seems you already managed to get everything…” She thought for a bit. “How about this: You can cook on your own and I’ll be in the other room. If you need anything, please call for me though, alright?”
Sumire looked up to her mother and nodded. “Thank you, Mom…”
Akahana smiled gently. “You’re welcome, Sumire.”
Akahana left the room soon after, and Sumire grabbed the spices and seasonings, bringing them to the other ingredients. With a somber sigh, Sumire began cooking.
She just can’t do anything anymore, can she?
***
“Hey! Do you want to hang out later today?” Kasumi asked a friend she was calling on her phone.
“I’m so sorry, Kasumi!” Her friend replied. “I actually made plans with some of our other friends already…”
“Oh that’s okay! I can just join you, right?” Kasumi asked. “My casts are off now, so you don’t have to worry about hurting me!”
“We were going to do a jog though…” The friend responded. “I’m sorry, Kasumi, maybe next time?”
“Fine, fine.” Kasumi cheerily responded despite the pit that formed in her stomach. “If you guys go to a movie, you better invite me though!”
“Haha, definitely! See you soon, Kasumi!”
“See you!”
*click*
Kasumi frowned as she set her phone on her bedside table. She looked down at her legs. She tried to shift them around, move them, kick them, do something with them. Something to prove she could join her friends.
…Nothing.
Kasumi groaned to herself as she threw her upper body back against the pillows on her bed and spread her arms out. To be completely honest: She hated this.
Kasumi wanted nothing more than to go outside, to be active, to do something besides just stay inside all day… but her legs denied her that privilege at every turn.
*crash*
Kasumi lifted herself up into a sitting position and stared at her door. What was that?
“Sumire!? What happened!?” Kasumi heard her mother shout.
Did Sumire fall?
Kasumi quickly lifted herself off of her bed and onto her wheelchair. She then left her room and went down the hall to hear what was going on, stopping right before she’d be in view of the kitchen.
“-What on earth were you thinking!? If you wanted to cook you could have just gotten me to help you!”
Sumire wanted to cook…? She didn’t even get their mother for it?
“I wanted to do it on my own…” Sumire replied almost inaudibly.
Kasumi sighed to herself. She’d almost forgotten how hard all of this was on Sumire…
Well… Kasumi’ll just have to do her best to keep a smile on around Sumire. To maybe try to improve Sumire's outlook on all this… Regardless of how Kasumi herself felt.
Kasumi returned to her room and shut the door quietly, then brought her wheelchair to her desk.
If she can’t go outside today… She supposed she’ll just have to read through her school material to be prepared for tomorrow.
Kasumi took out a math textbook and began studying.

Now this gets funnier when you remember that the first time Hattori and Shinichi investigated together Heiji freaked out about how Shinichi broke like 3 laws to catch the culprit.
Heiji's dad is a cop so he knows the procedure, but my man Shinichi has always been the "the end justifies the means" kind of gal.
Kaito has committed (I believed this information was stated somewhere lmao but idk where) 123 crimes and 7 in overseas.
Shinichi, taking into account all of the episodes, considering he commits like 2 crimes per case, (I'm not counting Kid chapters, movies, OVAs, magic files nor the black organization episodes since those are kind of understandable) Shinichi would have committed, MINIMUM like 700 small crimes like identity theft, property damage, trasspasing, assault, forgery, black mailing. Plus, everytime he asks Haibara for an antidote, technically, he is committing trafficking.
Also the whole Haibara deal can be considered treason since Shiho IS a criminal whether she wanted or didn't have a choice so, yeah.
I will never think it's not funny that it's implied that Kudou Shinichi is someone serious and professional compared to Hattori Heiji, when in reality he's a showman who has probably committed more B&E's than Katiou Kid.
I wanna know which of them has actually broken the law more. B&E, theft, evidence tampering, assault, etc;

Detective Conan but Kogoro Mouri knew since the beginning.
He drunkly found the shrunken Shinichi and bc of being drunk believes him immediately. It starts raining and Shinichi is just telling him to take him to Dr Agasa but even when stupidly drunk he is still a father and carries the little shit being “noooo little kids need to be at home before they get a cold and sick. They need to be warm and tucked in.” He later wakes up to see his daughter fussing over the bloody “six-year old” “kid” and realizes that shit he knows.
1000+ episodes of having to control this shrunken teenage genius to not die while also solving cases to make sure the little shit stops being a little shit.
I just have so much brain rot for good dad mouri, like mini chapters and arcs in between the murder and beytral. Like I wanna shit on the somewhat absent parents shinichi’s parents were and Mouri being like ‘wtf I need to protect and help this child as much”. Like one of it being the parent’s day where as a shin’s parents were never there for it or any other big things in his life now as Conan he has to relive that shit but instead Mouri comes in saying things like “Hey I am temporarily your guardian, so deal with me doing guardian shit.” I mean he is here flirting with kid’s mom and teachers but he is doing his dang best. I also want Conan just help the shit in Mouri and Eri’s relationship, calling Eri over and making small dates to make sure they aren’t arguing, calling Eri mom or something and doing cute kid shit to ease the tension between them (eri later finding out? she is one of the smartest characters in the series soooo :))) )
I also thought with this with HeShin and KaiShin in mind for when Shinichi is back as a teenager and all Kogoro could think is six-year old Conan and just really fucking disapprove. ( “YOU SIX, YOU DON’T NEED A BOYFRIEND.” “I AM 18″)
idk just brain rot, I sorta wanna write it but at the same time I am like ep140 and need like 900+ to go ;’)

I'VE BEEN SAYING
Kaito's mom literally dressed up as her dead husband to "test" him so I kind of assumed that everyone thought of her and Toichi as maybe the worst parents in the series. Which is a pretty high bar! They have crossed it with emotional and physical abuse, and on Chikage's part, neglect. But for comparison:
Even if you think Hattori's dad punching him was a one time thing, and riling him up so he'll throw himself into danger was just the two times on screen - kinda messed up, no? Heizou also puts him down in front of strangers and the other police more than once. Shizuka is shown gently scolding Heizou for those shenanigans, so maybe she's trying within the limits of what she thinks she's allowed to do, or maybe she doesn't think it's that big a deal. The first one makes more sense to me personally, because in my own dealings with Very Traditional families, there does tend to be one person who decides everything for everyone and it can be dangerous or just counterproductive to "rock the boat." Then again, in one of the movies, we find out that she didn't visit him in the hospital after he got shot, so 0_0 Either way, they're not doing great.
According to a psychiatrist I had a riveting conversation with, neglect is like the number 1 way to fuck up your kid. The Kudos left Shinichi alone at a pretty young age. Especially since he doesn't seem to have a real support network - he has Agasa and Ran and maybe Sonoko, although he seems to get along well on a surface level with his classmates - this seems like a grade A bad idea. And now they're so removed from him that they can't have a normal conversation with him to find out how he's doing because they know he'll lie and say he's fine. And instead of finding a way to fix this, they literally go spy mode on him. Also he fakes his death for them and they act like it's just a silly prank? They seem to care and realize they've messed up, but they're not exactly making strides towards fixing it.
Ran's parents are divorced, and Kogoro really needs a therapist and a life coach and generally to just not depend on his daughter for everything. And possibly his wife? I'm not sure who was paying the rent before Conan showed up. Eri said she tried to convince Ran to live with her instead, but Ran wouldn't have it, which is probably because Eri modeled putting up with Kogoro endlessly up to the point that they were separated. I also get the sense that things were settled before Kogoro completely spiraled. It's cool that she wants to respect her daughter's wishes and stuff. Parenting is hard and it seems like she's at least trying her best and thinking of Ran's feelings. Kogoro just seems like he's got too much depression to be the parent he wants to be. Still not great, but at least there's effort?
Sonoko's parents think they should get to control her life, and she doesn't seem to get on with them very well. Not the best, but at least they're not like, actively abusive?
Ginzo would appear to be a single father for reasons unknown to me. He should spend more time with his daughter but he's all wrapped up in work all the time, so Aoko is also neglected. She and Shinichi could probably relate to each other a lot, or at least more than you'd think. He does cook her dinner sometimes and is still more present in her life than the Kudos are in Shinichi's, and he does at least make effort to keep her out of danger.
I'd go on but we only see one of Kazuha's parents and I can't think of anyone else who's mentioned specifically enough? and we don't really see Kazuha's dad interacting with her specifically. We also don't see evidence that he's a completely absent father, so who knows.
idk in conclusion:

and here's the link to the tiermaker i made if you're interested
I think we all know that Toichi isn't such a great father, right? Sticks his nose where he shouldn't, teaches his son the worst way to deal with his feelings (making him always isolate himself and deal with everything alone) then he dies, indirectly puts his son's life at risk all the time and fuck Kaito.
Kaito has a very noble reason for being the Kaitou Kid and then he finds out that his father was the KID because he wanted to impress a thief LOL
And Kaito's mother is almost never with him, always traveling. In addition, indirectly, she was responsible for making her son have to deal with a crazy woman who keeps using his fear to hurt him.

OK I have to get it out of my chest. I know Ran doesn't know the same struggle as Shinichi and Shiho do but I sometimes lowkey cringe on the "she's too innocent, UNTOUCHED by pain & negativity in the world" thing us coai shippers do (& maybe sometimes even I have been guilty of doing it) when Ran also has struggles in life, and knows pain. Idk but she literally comes from a broken home, has a dad who's an alcoholic, is an only child so she has to take care of herself and her dad and the poor soul still wants & wishes for her parents to reunite (I feel as an optimistic teenager Ran wanting them to reunite makes sense but when she becomes an adult she would probably understand why Kogoro & Eri won't work out). Ran has a lot on her plate with separated parents, housework, studies, friendships, karate training & a missing best friend tbvh and maybe it's time people stop discrediting her pain. Her struggles are different & maybe she wouldn't ever fully understand what it's like to be Shinichi but in her defence she's never been given many chances about that by Shinichi.

y’know i have literally no evidence to support this but i think it’d be fun if Kaitou Corbeau was actually Yusaku Kudo, Shinichi’s dad. idk i just think that the idea of Kaito’s mom, who supposedly stays in Las Vegas, and Shinichi’s parents, who supposedly “travel the world”, are actually working together would be really fun. at the very least you could make an AU with a compelling plot out of it.
