I’m afraid not. Steam doesn’t have Android builds on their own site and Steam is not cool with keys for other sites being given out for Steam purchases, so you don’t get the Itch version from buying on Steam.

Hello! Sorry to bother you but, I had a question, if we buy the Game on itchio do we get steam keys or would we need to purchase it twice? 

You would have to buy it twice if you want it in both places, I’m sorry. To repeat myself a little, Steam doesn’t like the key trading thing. Itch may support giving keys for another site, but the reverse isn’t doable with Steam and Steam doesn’t even really want you to get a Steam key for buying somewhere else either. So we just don’t mess around with that.

It’s free! There’s a paid wedding DLC, but Step 4 itself is entirely unpaid.

It’s not, aha. Unfortunately, 2021 wasn’t easier than 2020 as we hoped so things are still slower than planned. It’ll come out late 2021 or early 2022.

Hi! Firstly I just want to say that I LOVE Our Life. I have played a bit of similar games but this one instantly wins for the best one! Everything about it is amazing! I just wanted to ask if Derek would ever lose feelings for MC, like if they make the deal and then MC gets with Cove would he move on? and even if you don't, after "losing contact" would his feeling fade or would he still like MC? 

If you don’t really keep in touch with him and clearly move on with your life, Derek will too and he’ll be over it. But if you are still close as best as you can be, he’ll still think the MC is special. Though, he’ll always support your relationship with someone else if that’s what’ll make you happy.

She’s related to Pamela and Pamela’s last name is the one they use, so the MC has the same last name as Lee.

Will we be able to choose which (they or he) we tend to call Qiu by more often, or will it randomly change depending on the moment? 

Qiu knows which pronoun they’re comfortable with at a time and you’ll call them what they’re happy with. And it doesn’t change between lines, it takes multiple scenes or even full Steps for it to switch. So for extended periods Qiu will be totally a guy or fully agender.

Will Step 4 of OL2 have moments?

It’ll be an epilogue like it is in OL1, so it won’t have a bunch of different Moments.

It isn’t based on one specific town you can go to, but there are a lot of little coastal towns in Cali that have a similar vibe!

You wouldn’t get the DLCs for backing there. The Patreon is for extra bonus content/early access, rather than being a storefront to purchase the normal DLCs. Rarely we give them out as a side gift, but it hardly happens and if what you want is the DLCs it’s best to ignore the Patreon and  buy keys for those directly from Itch or Steam. I’m sorry for the confusion.

I just played the game with the MC and Cove being best friends and omg it’s still so damn cute like the wholesomeness of it all is too much for my heart I swear ^.^  Now with that all said I was wondering can we still marry Cove? if we only love him as a friend like let’s say we’ve made deal with him similar to the one we can make with Derek because let’s real no one could compete with what the MC and Cove have even if they aren’t in love. 

It’s great to hear you enjoyed the friendship story! You can live with Cove, but you can’t marry him platonically. Cove has familial affection for the MC if they’re best-est friends. He wouldn’t think to marry someone he loves like family and even grew up with as though they truly were siblings.

Maybe you missed telling Cove you were in love with him even if you mentioned wanting to get married or you might’ve accidentally said earlier in the game that you don’t want to progress your relationship further with Cove. We haven’t removed them, so you can get the scene again. It’s just kind of easy to miss since there’s multiple requirements. You can read a little guide in the FAQ.

Technically, yes. We treat the non-romantic relationship options as truly non-romantic since we don’t want to bait and switch people. But there’s nothing wrong with headcanoning that Cove does have feelings developing for the MC even before the MC has.

Is there a way to make/allow Lee and Baxter to date?

No, they just don’t have enough time together.

We also got a group of asks related to Tamarack in OL2, but I’m afraid the way they talked about people with larger bodies made me not want to post their words, even if the person didn’t say they’re trying to be hurtful. Does Tamarack lose weight in later Steps?

No, she doesn’t. As for the other questions included, to be honest, I don’t have to explain/defend having romance options of different sizes. I’m sorry if you’re dealing with unhappiness that’s connected to body image, if that’s where the negative emotions are coming from, but even so I can’t meet you on that level and pretend it’s a problem that needs an answer. A girl who simply isn’t thin being a main love interest is just not an unreasonable concept. Also, Tamarack isn’t a lesbian. Yes, she can date a female MC, but that doesn’t undo her actual sexuality, so I’m not sure where that one part at the end was coming from.

Not really, haha. No matter how cool your MC is, they’re never gonna replace Qiu for the other kids around. So you can either partner up with him, follow him too, or not be a part of all that group politics stuff.

It’d depend on his age, personality, and your relationship with him! When he’s younger he’d probably be embarrassed, when he was grown he’d probably be more casual or happy about it.

Yeah, you can be crushing on Cove and date Baxter if you weren’t already dating Cove. You just can’t be truly in love with Cove and then switch to Baxter.

The focus will be on the wedding day itself. The topic of the honeymoon might come up a bit, but there won’t be any choosing of the exact location and such.

First, is there a set year in which OL:B&A takes place (ex: Step 1 being set in 2010 & Step 2 being set in 2016, etc.) or is it simply up to interpretation? Second, have you guys thought about doing a coming-of-age game where the MC has a tough home life or upbringing? (like one of their parents is an addict, a parent being transphobic whilst the player has the option to be trans, or having friends that are influencing them to do drugs, etc.) That's all! Step 1: 2006 Step 2: 2011 Step 3: 2016 Step 4: 2021 

And we don’t currently plan on making a game like that. The Our Life series exists to be a safer environment for people to play around in and if we did do a brand new series that was harsher edged it’d be something more fantastical and/or plot-driven instead of a different type of modern day slice-of-life growing up story. I’m sorry.

i don’t know if you’ve already answered this, but do you have a guess on when phase 4 will come out? as well as ol2? i’m so excited for both of them, the inclusivity in this game is amazing, you guys should be really proud of it! 

Step 4 will be coming out very soon! OL2 is gonna take until 2023 to be anywhere near completion. But we might episodically release the Steps one at a time as they get done instead of waiting for three to be finished before launch like we did with the first game.

That’s nice of you to offer. He doesn’t have a Twitter, at least not one that’s public enough to be shared with me. And I’m afraid not. The issue is that the CGs take huge amounts of time rather than there not being a budget for it. He’s gotta make CGs for Step 4, the DLCs, and new character sprites, too. If you wanted context: Death Note is about this one guy who finds a notebook that kills anyone who you write the name of in there. The guy eventually develops a God Complex and starts mass killing criminals and stuff. L is the one trying to find out who is killing all these people.

Me and my sister first joked about it because I couldn't remember how to translate a word about the way Cove was sitting, so I just did the pose, and it looked a lot like how L himself sits! Then we just snowballed from there, with more and more nonsense connections.

For me, this talks about sirens, each being refered to as one of the elements in the prophecy. According to their monikers, I think it is safe to assume that the moon is Wooyoung, the sea is Yn and the fire is Seonghwa, and IF Hongjoong is a siren, he would be the earth and the "guided by the earth, they will seek the sun" part is because he is their captain and they are looking for sirens, the last remaining siren would be the sun. I'm not quite sure what the east, west, south and north part could exactly mean but apparently reuniting the sirens will end in death 😀 of who exactly? Idk, probably they find a siren hidding spot or smt and there is where the bloodshed happens. LIKELY that one planet named Celeste 👀👀 like, everything from the visual of the planet, the dreamscape, the name of the series, that one "misted skies" part,,,,I'M THINKING THINGS MISS CALY and I just hope our crew don't dies because 😭😭😭

ALSO we know Jin is looking for the sirens too and wants to take Seonghwa, so what if his crew follows the horizon to Celeste AND THAT'S WHY THE DEATHS HAPPEN

And,,,Daichi told Yn that she is something unique and special...what if aside from the sirens, she is specifically needed for the treasure? It would explain why he wants her to get away from Woo, because of their connection, whoever gets a hold on him can reach her, the key for the treasure,,,iNTErEsting (and a Sea goddess was mentioned and Yn's moniker means child of the sea...👁👁)

We still don't know if the treasure is a literal treasure, something magical, the access to Celeste that no one has been able to get into...but honestly it might be too early to know exactly.

and yes IF hongjoong is a siren, it would make sense for him to be earth simply bec of the guiding but really what's important is that aspect of the Earth guiding the other three sirens to find the Sun.

the east west north and south part is more something for later, and it'll make much more sense later on but for now we're stuck on the first line and still going through that where we are in the plot rn. pale sands and misted skies are hugely important yes and we've actually seen a hint about those pale sands as far back as act one, but also from the planet guides we see some connections between a planet and the description of the dreamscape, then of course we have the name mists of celeste.... mmmm chills anYWHO i would say ur on the right track (¬‿¬)

and YES jin has sort of taken a back seat but he is (according to hongjoong) always looking for sirens himself and for seonghwa which is something that could very well come back around at any moment in time :3

then we have dearest daichi informing yn of that crucial bit of information that she's unique and special... we don't quite know why that is yet, but as we get into act six, i think that will make a lot more sense just whew i got chills thinking about it bc when it all comes together and falls into place i think,,,hope,,,i hope it's something incredible. something we've never really gone deep into is daichi's character tho. is he a good guy? could he be a bad guy? why would he be a bad guy if he were one? why would he be a good guy if he were one? then we have a sea goddess being mentioned along with a whole church of the sea and y/n specifically being named 'child of the sea' as her given name at birth...

and of course the 'treasure' if it even is treasure and it is a hair too early for us to know exactly what it is and what it means to hongjoong exactly but act six is gonna be a big turning point in terms of the main plots...

I also liiiiiiiiiiike Felix and Stabitha from @Respheal's Galebound... ... We haven't met them yet in story but I can only imagine how much they'll hate each other. And then? Taci and Mizuki are pretty hilarious as a not-romantic couple. Taci's a condescending jerk, and Mizuki's incredibly stubborn, so it's an entertaining team-up. @snuffysam, thank you for writing a pair I find incredibly entertaining~.

I really like the relationship between Kara's parents in 7" Kara! Not in the "aww what a cute ship" sense, though. They're just so... real. They have problems, they don't always see things eye to eye (and the narrative takes that seriously), but they very much care about each other. In fact, their love for each other (and for Kara) is what complicates the problems. I'm a sucker for that kind of non-abusive, genuine, but seriously flawed dynamics.

I'm going to say my favorite couple is Ron and Roxy from Cosmos Song. I really enjoy how different they are, and yet despite the culture clash they still manage to make it work. But more than anything, I love the natural chemistry between them. IMO chemistry is one of the hardest things to write when it comes to couples, so I respect any romance where I can read it and actually see it and understand why the couple is together. (edited)

You know me, I never turn down a chance to talk, so I'm going to talk about both!!

Calista first tho!

Basic Stats: Calista (she/her), late 20's, nickname: Cal (NEVER Cali, unless you want to get stabbed). Bisexual badass.

Appearance: Black, wears her hair in locs that are braided to between her shoulder blades, head shaved on the sides. Dark brown eyes. Several scars across her body. Most visible is the one on her brow near her eye.

She's a thief and a smuggler whose main port is the city where Ashlin works now. (Still unnamed.) She was the daughter of traveling merchants who were killed by highway robbers when she was 7. She spent a few years in an orphanage, but things sucked there and the adults didn't give a rat's ass about the kids, so she ran away when she was 9. She was always clever as hell, so she took to thievery and living on the streets as well as you can as a child. As she got older she collected a little "crew" of younger kids that she looked out for and taught how to survive. Ash was one of those kids. When she was 17 she joined a smuggling ring and left the port city. At the age of 20 or 21 she split with those smugglers and started her own smuggling operation. It worked very similarly, but with one major difference. She was willing to smuggle people. If your situation was bad (abusive family/partner, huge debts, need a fresh start, whatever), she will get you to A) another city (where you have friends or family, or just a fresh start), B) a port city to get passage eslewhere, or C) across the border to a neighboring kingdom be it east or south.

She's a huge flirt and will flirt with anyone as easy as breathing, but it never goes any farther than that. She's not looking for relationship of any kind, be it casual or not, and doesn't enjoy hookups just for the hell of it. She's very charismatic and outgoing and makes friends wherever she goes. But the second you disrespect her or her friends, you're dead to her. She holds grudges and never forgets.

Bonus: She's friends with Theo's mothers, and thinks of them (Theo) as a sibling or cousin.

Hermes under the cut!!

Full name: Hermes (that's it) Fake Name: Lord Hermes Andino, Baron of Oraine. Real Name: Timotheus Straut (but he doesn't know that.) Age: unknown to himself (~26)

Appearance: Messy dark hair that falls below his ears, monolided brown eyes that sparkle when he smiles, often wearing eyeshadow and/or nail polish. Loves things that shine (he would love rhinestones and glitter, lmao.) Character: Bi disaster. Mischief maker. Chaotic comedian. Makes friends easily, but keeps everyone at a distance. Pretends he doesn't need or want anyone special in his life, but really just wants to feel like he belongs. Easygoing, friendly to everyone, no matter who they are. Deflects discomfort with humor.

He has no real memories of anything before the age of about 7 or so, but every once in a while he gets "phantom memories", a little bit like deja vu, where he feels like a memory is just out of reach, like a word on the tip of your tongue.

He got the name Hermes because of quick fingers and gift for lucky escapes. (yeah, it doesn't make sense for him to be named after a Greek god, but idk, it fits. Don't come after me.)

Some of his earliest memories include hiding fresh loaves of bread under his shirt as he books it out of the market square, the bread so hot it almost burns him.

Visiting Anvia more or less on a lark, because he wanted to see the world beyond Villecourt and Oraine in general, and also to see if he could con a Queen. (He takes risks for the hell of it, to be honest.)

Once started flirting with a young man only to find out he was the son of someone Hermes had robbed the night before. That was awkward.

Was shocked to see that Fallon actually cares about her people and doesn't just let them rot. (unlike the Empress of Oraine....) It gave him some hope that not everything is doomed. (Note to self: Share that scene!!)

Likes to always be doing something with his hands. Be it rolling a coin over his knuckles, fiddling with the collar of his shirt (not used to fancy clothes) or picking at something in front of him (unravelling fabric, chipping paint, etc.), his hands are always moving.

you know those professors that every student either thinks ‘they should just get together’ or ‘I wonder if they’re together’? victor and sherlock are definitely those professors. they definitely are together and have been since uni themselves, but don’t make it super known just because it’s their own private lives and things can get messy at work, but it’s mostly because they love keep their students guessing. it’s fun to mess with them sometimes, honestly.

when nero ( victor’s bull terrier in all teen / uni / india verses ) died, it was sherlock who let victor have his time to grieve then took him to rescue a new bull terrier ( cali, who is always victor’s dog in all other adult verses ) because he couldn’t bear to see victor without a dog in his life.

they eat lunch together every day! when usually depends on the day / term itself. sometimes it’s in one of their offices because one of them has office hours that coincide with lunch. sometimes it’s outside, or at a cafe, or wherever they please, but it’s always together. even on days where sherlock has class but victor doesn’t, he’ll come onto campus ( if he’s not already, because lbr victor is always on campus ) just to eat lunch with him.

sherlock has known about victor’s ocd from basically the moment they met and he’s worked on being as helpful as he can, even if that means simply not making a mess or at least cleaning it up fast enough so victor doesn’t see / freak out. victor’s forever grateful for that, though there are moments that sherlock messes up or victor’s ocd is high that day and blow ups just can’t be helped.

i’ve decided just this very second that victor gets a tattoo of a bee for sherlock. victor himself really likes bees, but he gets beautiful artwork of a bee drawn specially for him / sherlock and then gets it tattooed onto his forearm as a way of showing how much he loves that man. he gets it, then waits to see how long it takes sherlock to realize it’s there.
