some twc book 3 thoughts:
i have missed my girl ida so much, and mason of course
the general story of this one felt a little disjointed and uninteresting, and the Big Bad definitely didn’t feel all that threatening. i definitely feel like the further along we get with twc, the more intensley romanced focused it becomes - which isn’t necessarily bad, but it is a shift i noticed
that being said, i did really enjoy some of the mason romance scenes
ida got laid three times in this book, as she deserved
some of my fave mason romance scenes were:
bakery scene, and the following confrontation outside the warehouse about it (i like drama)
shower scene, for the tenderness
the crystal cleansing scene!
their final hook up post everything (he had a good nights sleep for the first time in his life!! its the tropes!!)
the rooftop research scene where he’s giving her the cold shoulder - that whole convo was very good
bobby jealousy scene/s
ALSO the hug scene had me wailing
mason standing up for ida with literally anyone makes me eee
the dinner with tina was another fave moment, mostly for the drama with tina and mason
in my heart farah is ida’s bestie not felix, but he’s also wonderful
as always, ida’s relationship with rebecca is as terrible as ever. i don’t think i chose a single kind/forgiving option lol
ida becoming an agent feels a bit goofy, but it at least lands for me better than being a detective (which has never sat quite right)
as someone who is a sucker for protectiveness, i definitely got fed with mason’s route
overall, i am really enjoying seeing a softer side of mason with ida, and the development of their relationship. i didn’t go for the love confession on ida’s part quite yet, so that’s still hanging over them both which is very juicy to me.

GRIMMBROOK SEASON 1 EPISODE 2 “CATACLYSM”
Grimmbrook tries to return to normal after receiving a disturbing video of Madison and learning that no one is able to leave town. What better way to find distractions than with the annual Spring Festival? Festivities come to an abrupt end with an earthquake and those trapped inside the mines see something they can’t explain.
ABIGAIL MYERS
After seeing a few apartments, Abigail finds a nice little loft that’ll be perfect for her to start over in. [x] Flashback of Caleb telling Abigail he has just gotten engaged. She’s not a huge fan of the idea. [x] Abigail goes back to Caleb’s to apologize to him about the things she said at the wake. He seems a little off, but generally supportive of her decision to get herself a place. [x] Guy, a former client of Abigail’s from her hooker days, approaches Abigail in the street. She is quick to tell him she doesn’t do that shit anymore, but he is actually trying to apologize for his behavior. She doesn’t get why. [x] Flashback of Abigail going to Danielle’s house after Caleb throws her out of the house. Danielle offers her a drink and somewhere to stay in for however long she needs it. [x] Abigail goes to the Rose Petal boutique during a fashion crisis: she wants a new wardrobe to fit her new life. There she buys a gorgeous pair of boots for Danielle and a cool leather jacket for herself. [x] A stranger breaks into Abigail’s home and attacks her. She fights hard but ultimately fails to get away from him. [x] Caleb picks up Abigail when she calls him for help after the break-in. She makes him promise he will kill the guy who hurt her, and he does. [x] Abigail is home during the earthquake and other than feeling the shake, doesn’t go through any major stress. A few days after her attack, Abigail goes to the Red Apple restaurant where she meets Rosie, a cute, cheerful waitress. She is pretty proud of herself for getting her number. [x]
AURORA MYERS
Aurora received a text message signed little red. [ x ] Caleb taught her a lesson after he found a gift from one of her clients hidden in her drawer. [ x ] He made her breakfast the next morning. [ x ] She met Ella at the coffee shop. [ x ] She received another gift and gave it to Abigail while the two talked and shared a drink. [ x ] She gave the necklace that got her in trouble to sirene when she caught her going through her jewelry box. [ x ] At the spring festival, Brandon tried to get her to talk about her marriage. [ x ] She was with her childhood friend robin when the earthquake hit. [ x ] Speaking of the past, her twin sister Quinn showed up at the candy house unexpectedly. [ x ]
ARCHIBALD CROCK
Archie has had some trouble lately connecting with his ‘boss’ Brandon, and is doing whatever he can to be involved with the Madison case (x). He enjoys meeting the people of Grimmbrook, but he still has trouble connecting to them, but it’s easier when they’re as nice as Winifred (x). He only got so far before being put on security detail for the Spring Festival, when tragedy struck. Chad (x) and Raya (x) helped him set up a triage center until the emergency services could arrive, wherein Jack (x) jumped into the fray to help out. While searching for people in need of help, he ran into Tyler (x) whom he helped out of a large group of fallen trees.
BRANDON WOLFE
Brandon sends Ella a gift to placate her wrath after he revealed he had a sexual relationship with Madison at her wake. [x] Feeling uncomfortable, Danielle joins Brandon at his table while he eats. He asks her out on a whim, then claims it was a joke to begin with, making the blonde leave the diner fuming. [x] Brandon’s lunch is interrupted by the one and only Winifred Snow, who sets up a meeting with him to talk about their unlawful private matters. [x] Brandon has a day off and it’s the spring festival. After running into Aurora, Brandon tries to get something out of the girl about her enigmatic husband. He ends up talking too much about himself, and not getting a lot to go off in return. [x] Brandon knows Lena will have a stall at the festival and stops by to check up on her. She decides to make him a flower crown and explain the relevance of pastel colors. He still doesn’t understand it. [x] Luke is keeping Brandon company as he looks around the many stalls at the flea market area. They find a game-changing item for the breakfast table. [x] Catching a glimpse of Isabel at the festival, Brandon decides to end their two weeks of radio silence and approaches the woman, but nothing has changed between them. She has made it very clear that she can’t forgive or forget that he tried to kiss her in a vulnerable moment, and he respects her decision. [x] Brandon didn’t plan on running into Danielle at the festival, but once he does, he decides to question her hostility towards him. After talking things out, he asks her out on a real date and she says yes. [x] Brandon is feeling better about himself when he runs into Harriet, who decides to confront him about the investigation into her niece’s gruesome murder yet again. Insults are thrown around yet again, and the redhead only leaves upon the revelation that he did have a sexual relationship with her niece. [x] The last person Brandon expects to meet in the drink station’s line is Ella, but there she is, ready to start another argument with him. They bring up jealousy issues and their failed marriage, but their first honest conversation in years is interrupted by an earthquake. After making sure Ella is safe, Brandon leaves to try and see if anyone needs help. [x]
CALEB MYERS
Ten years ago Caleb met a girl named Kate Lawson and their date ended badly. [x] Knowing that his sister is currently staying with Danielle, he visits her at work and has a nice chat with her instead of getting a lapdance. [x] Abigail comes to visit one morning and apologizes for her behavior and to pick up the last of her things. [x] After finding a necklace in Aurora’s room Caleb decides to punish her for her disobedience, [x] and buttered her up the next morning. [x] At his weekly dinner at The Red Apple, Winifred hits at Caleb’s allegiances. [x] In a flashback Caleb meets with Carrie who offered him a business deal. [x] While driving home from work he sees someone who catches his eye. A ghost from his past. [x] Fed up with this situation with Abigail Caleb decides to take matters into his own hands. [x] Abigail calls him after her attack and he picks her up, brings her home, and nurses her back to health. [x] Caleb asks Liam to seduce Aurora out of pure boredom but he doesn’t seem too happy with this particular job. [x]
CARRIE POPE
A simple stroll on the market turns into an unfortunate mess when she meets Winnifred (x). Just when she believes she has an upper hand, the young girl drags her on a stage to tell a crowd of pathetic children that her mansion is being turned into some form of charity case. Tough luck. Thankfully, her pet is around to curb her attention onto more enjoyable pass times in the form of Declan's head between her thighs (x). While not normally the sort to join the festivities amongst the town peasants, she decides that a change of scenery is in order. It all begins badly in the form of Hunter, whom leaves her with a well deserved black eye (x). Just as she’s about to leave, she stumbles upon a familiar blond-haired male who ends their meeting by saving her from nearby crates (x). The next morning, she decides to check in with Rosie and begrudgingly decides to host a night for them to get together (x). Lord, give her the patience. But not before she plots hunter’s death with her right-hand man, Kai. (x)
DANIELLE MASON
Danielle had a run-in with an old friend, bringing the past back into the present as Winifred offered her a job at The Red Apple. [ x ] Then she took on a baking adventure with Ella, where they both learned a valuable lesson that neither one of them was meant to be bakers. [ x ] It was the local festival where Danielle had several encounters over the course of the day from a conversation that turned into an invitation to dinner with the local Sheriff, [ x ] was on a tour where she inevitably took a swing and hit Joseph for his part in her going to jail [ x ], and ended up making plenty of cash through pickpocketing [ x ] and ambulance-chasing. [ x ]
ELLA GERTRUDE
After Ella Gertrude spent time with Ida getting paint swatches to make home feel more like home [x], she enlisted Dani’s help to bake for Ida for a change – however, she’d forgotten how terrible she was at baking and almost burned the house down [x]. Later in the week as she was out and about, Ella meets Isabel in the bookstore and spoke with her about favorite tales [x]. After an accidental drink swap at the cafe, Ella met Aurora Myers and spent time chatting with her [x]. At the spring festival, an attempt to do something nice for a stranger went awry when the next person in line was her ex-husband, although their conversation was cut short by an earthquake [x]. Ella also felt the impact of the earthquake later, while working with Madelaine to ensure an injured woman got necessary medical attention [x]. After the festival, determined to turn over a new leaf, Ella went to the Rose Petal for a wardrobe makeover – and who better to get advice from than Wendy Miu [x]?
GIO PANICUCCI
After being coerced into attending the Spring Festival, Gio and Luke got trapped underground. Sadly they were not the only beings there it seemed. [x]
HARRIET REDDING
A few days before the festival, Harriet stumbled upon Madison’s old friend, Danielle (x) in a cafe. The sudden appearance of the blonde brought back a lot of good memories which was the reason why she’d taken it upon herself to sit. After their chat, they decided that Danielle could potentially come help Harriet clean up Madison’s room. Despite not being in the mood for a festival, she ended up going anyways. The presence of Brandon Wolfe with a beer in his hand was a reminder of exactly why she shouldn’t have went (x). They shared a few words and Harriet left in an angry frenzy as always. Just when she contemplated leaving, she was lucky enough to stumble upon Archie (x) who was kind enough to buy her a funnel cake. A dessert she’s sure to never consume again. Their meeting was rather quick as he returned to work and she decided to make good on her decision to leave. Luckily enough for her, she avoided the earthquake and the traumatic events that followed. After a few days of not seeing Chad, or receiving any follow-up texts from him, she decided to make her way to his apartment with a pizza (x).
IDA LAWSON
In a flashback, Ida’s arrival in Grimmbrook is detailed. ( x ) Back in the present, Ida meets a mysterious stranger at work. ( x ) She and Ella also go shopping for paint to make the house feel more like a space Ella can call home. ( x ) At Grimmbrook’s annual Spring festival, Ida chooses to solo the beer tent - an especially poor choice when she’s the only one to serve Declan Vasquez. ( x ) A flasback recalls the fateful evening she and Declan crossed paths. ( discord ) Later at the festival, Ida serves a familiar face, and the two band together in the wake of the freak earthquake that hits the town of Grimmbrook. ( x )
ISABEL DUMAS
Isabel visits her father Maurice in the hospital following his scuffle with Casper du Pont. (x) At the shop, she finds herself determined to help a customer, not knowing who she is. (x) Later, getting lost in the comfort of the bookstore, she runs into the girl from the shop, and the two formally introduce themselves. (x) Isabel attends the annual Spring festival alone, where she runs into Brandon, and the two leave things on shaky ground (no pun intended, considering what’s to come). (x)
JOSEPH MADDOX
Joseph went to the Spring Festival to get some fresh air. He saw Winnie and she helped him find flowers to decorate the White Stallion (x). He ran into Luke and decided to apologize and try to make amends (x). Later, Carrie texted him. While he wanted to stay strong because she had been ignoring him, he caved in and promised to meet her later (x). Joseph went on a tour of the woods and saw Danielle. He tried to apologize to her too but it didn’t go as well as he hoped and she hit him (x).
LIAM PHOENIX
Another bit of dirty business on behalf of Caleb leads to even dirtier business on the horizon for Liam [ x ] Caleb also sends him on a ‘find and retrieve’ task for aurora [ x ] Meanwhile luke is still making himself comfortable as a somewhat intermittent houseguest [ x ] The festival is interrupted by a chance encounter with Carrie, though the earthquake put paid to much in the way of festivities and Liam offers to take her home [ x ] A slight but persistent injury acquired during the earthquake sees Liam visiting the local ER and his wound is patched up by Cordelia [ x ]
LUKE MASON
Luke stayed under the radar after his run-in with Casper, and subsequent tentative reconciliation with his siblings, but it wasn’t until the Spring Festival that things kicked off. He ran into Joseph, and hashed out his feelings with the man’s betrayal, coming to a tenuous truce for the time being (x). He had a somewhat awkward conversation with his sister (x) and his brother (x) but things seem to be heading in a positive direction. Afterward, he went on the mine tours and met a few different people, but the main event was with Gio, his reclusive friend who he’d only wanted a fun night out with. Instead they were in the mines when an earthquake hit, cutting them off from the rest of the tour group. That should’ve been it, but instead, there were things in the mine with them that chased them till they barely managed to escape (x).
MADELAINE SLOAN
Madelaine decided to break out of her comfort zone by going to the Spring Festival, her first pit stop being the place making her the most uncomfortable: the mines. She met Luke Mason there and they chatted about childhood weirdness and Madison Redding’s murder. ( x ) She then ran into Winifred Snow and a casual conversation ended with Madelaine handing over her business card, making a first attempt at securing her own alliances. ( x ) Later on, when a woman suddenly got sick and fainted, she and Danielle Mason decided to go to the hospital and return the woman her lost purse. She rewarded them with 100 dollars each. ( x ) Back at the festival after some shopping, the earthquake struck after she and Ella Gertrude tried to help another woman with an allergic reaction. Verging a panic attack, Madelaine fled. ( x )
PAUL TRUJILLO
Paul Trujillo’s time was spent at the spring festival. He struck up a conversation with Dani when he noticed her pickpocketing and tried to warn her to be more careful, but their conversation veered more towards yoga and pilates [x]. During his wanderings, he also spent time with Archie Crock [x] . During a mine tour, he got lost with Luke, who helped him out of the mine before an earthquake hit, a favor that Paul feels he needs to return [x]. And when getting drinks from Ida at the Midnight Pub’s booth, he led her to a safe spot to ride out the earthquake together – a pretty interesting conversation topic for their first time speaking [x].
ROBIN LOCKSLEY
Robin returned to Grimmbrook after some time spent traveling abroad and his first pit stop was at the Spring Fair, where he caused quite the ruckus. He walked up to his brother, Guy, and taunted him until he lost his temper and made a fool of himself. He then put his Gucci sunglasses on and went to enjoy the fair. ( x ) At the Cove, he ran into childhood friend Alex Falwell ( now Aurora Myers ) and an amicable chat was interrupted by the earthquake. He helped Aurora get home and then stayed behind to help the victims. ( x )
ROSIE FLANAGAN
Rosie and Danielle continue their accidental friends with benefits relationship. Will this be the last time? [x] Carrie invites Rosie over for some wine. Rosie is still completely oblivious to her ill intension. [x] Rosie and Winnie have a conversation at the stand which Rosie is working at. [x] Bored out of her mind, she calls Archibald over to offer him gelato and way too much of her company. [x] Rosie comes home from the festival and speaks with Marigold. During which the Earthquake event takes place. [x] Abigail and Rosie meet at the Red Apple, where Rosie awkwardly attempts to remember how to be a waitress. [x]
WINIFRED SNOW
Winifred fixes a mess at work and runs into Caleb ( x ), getting a read on his loyalties. This is a few days before she goes to the local farmers market and runs into her friend’s sister, Danielle ( x ) who she used to be childhood friends with. After running into Danielle, she has the misfortune of encountering her step-mother monster, Carrie ( x ) and over some verbal sparring, she ends up telling a large crowd that Carrie’s agreed to add space to Snow Manor to accommodate some local charities/kids groups. A few days later she seeks out Brandon ( x ) to plan to meet and discuss his ongoing investigation and her suspicions as to who is behind it. At the Spring Festival, she runs into Danielle ( x ) again and spontaneously offers her a job at the red apple. Then she encounters Madelaine ( x ) for the first time, despite knowing her father, and later, she runs into Joseph ( x ) and they have a light conversation despite usually only talking business.

Top 11 American Food Dishes That People Love
Fast, garbage, handled - with regards to American nourishment, the nation is most popular for the stuff that is portrayed by words more qualified to oily, granulating mechanical yield. In any case, residents of the USA have a great craving for good stuff, as well.
To commend its interminable culinary innovativeness, we're tossing our rundown of 50 most delightful American nourishment things at you. We realize you're going to need to toss back.
Standard procedures: recognize that in any event, attempting to characterize American nourishment is extreme; further recognize that picking most loved American things unavoidably implies forgetting about or unintentionally ignoring some much-cherished territorial claims to fame.
Presently get the elastic cover on in light of the fact that we're going first. Let the nourishment battle start:
1. Key lime pie
Key lime pie is a staple on south Florida menus.
Politeness Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant
In the event that life gives you limes, don't make limeade, make a Key lime pie. The official state pie of Florida, this cheeky tart has made herself an overall notoriety, which begun in - what other place? - the Florida Keys, from whence come the minor limes that gave the pie its name.
Auntie Sally, a cook for Florida's first independent mogul, transport salvager William Curry, gets the kudos for making the primary Key lime pie in the late 1800s. In any case, you may likewise say thanks to Florida wipe angler for likely beginning the mixture of key lime juice, improved consolidated milk, and egg yolks, which could be "cooked" (by a thickening concoction response of the fixings) adrift.
2. Potato tots
Potato tots are crunchy singed potatoes.
Potato tots are crunchy singed potatoes.
We love French fries, however for an American nourishment minor departure from the potato subject, one dearest at Sonic drive-ins and school cafeterias all over, consider the Tater Tot.
Notice it frequently has the enrolled trademark - these business hash dark colored chambers are for sure restrictive to the Ore-Ida organization. On the off chance that you'd been one of the Grigg siblings who established Ore-Ida, you'd have needed to think of something to do with extra bits of cut-up potatoes, as well. They included some flour and flavoring and formed the squash into modest tots and put them available in 1956. Somewhat more than 50 years after the fact, America is eating around 32 million kilos of these potatoes every year.
3. San Francisco sourdough bread

Sourdough is as old as the pyramids and not circumstantially was eaten in antiquated Egypt. However, the hands-down American top pick, and the sourest assortment, originates from San Francisco.
As much a piece of NoCal culinary culture as Napa Valley wine, sourdough bread has been a staple since Gold Rush days. Once upon a wilderness time, excavators (called "sourdoughs" for making due on the stuff) and pilgrims conveyed sourdough starter (more dependable than other raising) in pockets around their necks or on their belts.
Thank heavens that is not the manner in which they do it at Boudin Bakery, which has been turning out the bread that nibbles back in the City by the Bay since 1849.

The gourmet specialist's plate of mixed greens began back East, yet American nourishment trailblazers working with lettuce out West wouldn't have been beaten.
In 1937, Bob Cobb, the proprietor of The Brown Derby, was searching at the eatery's North Vine area for a feast for Sid Grauman of Grauman's Theater when he set up a plate of mixed greens with what he found in the ice chest: a head of lettuce, an avocado, some romaine, watercress, tomatoes, some chilly chicken bosom, a hard-bubbled egg, chives, cheddar, and some good old French dressing.
Dark colored Derby legend says, "He began cleaving. Included some fresh bacon, swiped from a bustling gourmet specialist." The serving of mixed greens went onto the menu and straight into the core of Hollywood.
5.Pot broil
Braised meat and vegetables - the ideal warming hot pot.
The youth Sunday family supper of gen X-ers all over the place, pot cook asserts a wistful most loved spot in the best 10 of American solace nourishments. There's an entire age that would be lost without it.
Hamburger brisket, base or top round, or hurl set in a profound broiling skillet with potatoes, carrots, onions, and whatever else your mother tossed in to be imbued with the meat's stewing juices, the pot meal could be blessed with red wine or even lager, at that point secured and cooked on the stovetop or in the broiler.

Twinkies are known for their toughness and timeframe of realistic usability - gossip says they could endure an atomic assault.
Twinkies are known for their sturdiness and timeframe of realistic usability - talk says they could endure an atomic assault.
Entertainer's notable "Brilliant Sponge Cake with Creamy Filling" has been sugaring us up since James Dewar developed it at the Continental Baking Company in Schiller Park, Illinois, in 1930.
The Twinkie spurned its unique banana cream filling for vanilla when bananas were rare during World War II. As though they weren't incredibly adequate as of now, the Texas State Fair began the trend of profound singing them.
Dumped in hot oil or essentially torn from their bundling, Twinkies charm with their name (propelled by a board promoting Twinkle Toe Shoes), their ladyfinger shape (punctured multiple times to infuse the filling), and their summonings of noon break. They were incidentally removed the racks between November 2012 to July 2013 - when Hostess declared financial insolvency. Presently they are back and going solid.

It probably won't look mouth-watering, however the taste represents itself with no issue.
Dried out meat withered nearly to the point of being unrecognizable - an improbable wellspring of so much gustatory delight, yet jerky is a high-protein most loved of explorers, street trippers, and snackers all over the place.
It's American nourishment the manner in which we like our wild grub - extreme and fiery.
We like the creation legend that says it's the immediate relative of American Indian pemmican, which blended fire-relieved meat with creature fat. Hamburger, turkey, chicken, venison, bison, even ostrich, gator, yak, and emu. Peppered, grilled, hickory-smoked, nectar coated. Seasoned with teriyaki, jalapeno, lemon pepper, bean stew.
Jerky is so flexible and compact and packs such nourishing force that the Army is trying different things with jerky sticks that have what could be compared to some espresso.
Anyway you take your jerky - caf or decaf; in strips, chips, or shreds - get ready to bite long and hard. You've despite everything got your own teeth, isn't that so?
8. Fajitas
Fajitas: the embodiment of Tex-Mex food.
Take a few vaqueros chipping away at the range and the dairy cattle butchered to take care of them. Toss in the disposable cuts of meat as a feature of the hands' salary, and let cowpoke resourcefulness go to work.
Flame broil skirt steak (faja in Spanish) over the open air fire, enclose by a tortilla, and you have the start of a Rio Grande area custom. The fajita is thought to have fallen off the range and into mainstream society when a specific Sonny Falcon started working fajita taco remains at open air occasions and rodeos in Texas starting in 1969.
It wasn't some time before the dish was advancing onto menus in the Lone Star State and spreading with its dearest exhibit of toppings - flame broiled onions and green pepper, pico de gallo, destroyed cheddar, and harsh cream - the nation over. Remember the Altoids.
9. Banana split
The banana makes it bravo, correct?
The banana makes it bravo, isn't that so?
Like the banana makes it bravo. In any case, praise to whoever concocted the variety of the sundae known as the banana split. There's the 1904 Latrobe, Pennsylvania, story, in which future optometrist David Strickler was trying different things with sundaes at a drug store soft drink wellspring, split a banana the long way, and put it in a long pontoon dish.
What's more, the 1907 Wilmington, Ohio, story, wherein café proprietor Ernest Hazard thought of it to draw understudies from a close by school. Distinction spread after a Walgreens in Chicago made the split its mark dessert during the 1920s. Whatever the history, you'll discover bounty something worth mulling over at the yearly Banana Split Festival, which happens on the second end of the week in June in Wilmington.
10. Cornbread
Cornbread is well known the nation over, yet it's a Southern great.
It's one of the mainstays of Southern cooking, yet cornbread is the spirit nourishment of numerous a culture - dark, white, and Native American - and not only south of the Mason-Dixon. Granulate corn coarsely and you have corn meal; absorb bits soluble base, and you have hominy (which we urge you to concoct into posole). Raise finely ground cornmeal with preparing powder, and you have cornbread.
Southern hushpuppies and corn pone, New England johnnycakes; cooked in a skillet or in biscuit tins; enhanced with cheddar, herbs, or jalapenos - cornbread in any manifestation remains the speedy and simple go-to bread that generally made it a most loved of Native American and pioneer moms and keeps it on tables the nation over today.
11. Popcorn
.Popcorn can either be fortunate or unfortunate for an individual's wellbeing, contingent upon what goes into making it. All alone, with no additional sugar or salt, popcorn makes a nutritious, empowering nibble.
Popcorn is a kind of corn part that, when individuals heat it, it flies to turn out to be light and cushy. Popcorn contains a lot of supplements and nutrients when individuals make it in the correct manner.
Be that as it may, numerous popcorn marks in general stores and cinemas contain heaps of included spread, sugar, and salt. These increments can be awful for an individual's wellbeing.

I’ll Be Home For Christmas | Dean x Reader
Pairing: Dean x Reader

A/N: This piece is for Kari and Ida’s 12 days of Christmas challenge by @like-a-bag-of-potatoes and @thing-you-do-with-that-thing the prompt is Wishing Upon A Star.
Check out the masterlist for 12 Days of Christmas Challenge Here.
You were on the balcony by the room of the crappy motel you were currently staying in. You looked into the dark night sky as tiny snowflakes speckled down slowly. It was your favorite time of the year again, but you didn't really have anyone to spend it with. You never really did in the first place, but it never failed to be your favorite holiday. As you were looking into the sky you noticed a shooting star pass by. You were quick to close your eyes.
"I wish me, Sam, and Dean could have a normal happy Christmas for once." You silently wished.
"I think I could make that happen." A familiar voice said from behind you before you could react your world turned black.
You woke up in a haze, not really remembering anything that happened the night before. You sat up on the bed you were currently in. An arm wrapped itself around your waist pulling you back down into a laying down position. You looked over glad to see your husband, Dean.
"Get some sleep the kids are going to be in soon." He whispered, "You know how excited they get with Christmas."
You cuddled into him agreeing, before trying to sleep, but the gods were against you. The door to your bedroom creaked open. You pretended to be asleep hoping the small children would leave you alone if they thought you were asleep. There was tiny padding against the wood floor that came to a slight halt, which meant at least one of the kids made it over to the bed. You felt movement on the bed, but you were still holding out in hoping they'd leave you alone.
A tiny hand came up to your face opening one of your eyelids, "Mommy, can we open presents now?"
You pulled the hand away from your eyelid gently before opening both eyes on your own and grunted, "Baby it's too early. How about you and your sister sleep with me and Daddy, then we can wake up open presents and have breakfast."
Your son gave you his best puppy dog eyes, "Pleeeease."
Before you could answer him there was a knock on the door.
"Alright," You groaned, "Sweety, why don't you and Ava go downstairs while I wake daddy up. Do not answer the door."
"Okay, mommy." He smiled over at you before hopping off the bed and walking over to your daughter, Ava grabbing her hand as they skipped out of the room.
Dean was still asleep during this you felt bad for waking him up early. He had been picking up extra shifts at the garage to afford gifts for your kids. You had offered to take more shifts too, but he wouldn't let you. You loved him to death, but you were scared sometimes he overworked himself.
"Dean," you lightly shook him, "It's time to get up. The kids want to open presents and I think your brother is here."
He groaned turning away from you, you giggled reaching over and giving a small kiss on the cheek.
"C'mon babe Mason and Ava are eager to open their presents."
He moaned once again before getting up and putting on a pair of pants. He leaned over giving you a quick, but sweet kiss on the lips.
"Good morning, beautiful." He smiled before walking out of the bedroom. You figured to answer the door for his brother, deciding to get out of bed and follow him out.
When you reached the bottom of the stairs all the Winchesters were there. Greeting your husband with hugs, you smiled at the view. He got so happy when they were all in one place. Once they were all done saying there hellos to both you and Dean you all went into the living room where your kids were silently waiting in front of the tree.
"Ava, Mason say hi to everyone."
The kids turned their eyes away from the Christmas presents and looked at their family. Mason was the first to get up, he bolted straight for his grandpa. He was John's little partner in crime. Ava though was always a little shy. She slowly walked over to you hiding behind your leg. You looked down and picked her up, taking her over to her favorite family member, Jess. Jess was currently holding her and Sam's newborn little girl. Noticing you walking towards her with Ava put a smile on her face. They talked to each other for a few before you helped Ava welcome the rest of the family.
"Presents, presents," Mason yelled as he ran back to the Christmas tree. You all chuckled at his excitement, setting down Ava she bolted straight after Mason. Everyone sat down exchanging presents before opening them.
The living room was a mess, full of wrapping paper and toys scattered throughout it. After opening presents you and Mary made breakfast for everyone as the kids-and some adults-played with their new toys. The rest of the day was filled with conversations about your new niece and watching the kids enjoy Christmas.
Now everyone was gone leaving the small house completely silent. You stood looking at your kids who had both crashed out on the couch, you never knew how the had so much energy to go all day, they always refuse naps. You were about to start picking up the mess everyone had created when you felt a pair of arms slip around your waist, knowing it was Dean.
He kissed you on the cheek before saying, "Why don't you go get ready for bed. I can take care of this mess and the kids. You've been going all day."
"I can help, Dean. You've done a lot today too."
"I'm fine, sweetheart. Now get upstairs before I carry you up to that room myself," He smirked over at you before walking away over to Mason and picking him up. You watched with joy in your eyes, he was perfect. This was too perfect, all of the sudden all of this seemed too much like it was too good to be real. Your mind started to feel hazy again and your vision was blurry. Suddenly your head started pounding, you reached up grabbing it trying to find a way to ease the pain. Then in an instant, it was all gone, you looked back up and it was clear. There you were still on the balcony of the cheap hotel, none of it was real. You turned around quick remembering you heard a voice before all of this happened.
"Merry Christmas," It was Gabriel, The Trickster, one of the biggest dicks among all archangels, well that may have been exaggerating it a little but still.
"What the hell was that?" You questioned with a yell.
"A present, in return I expect you to put your dogs on a leash."
"What are you talking about," you glared at him.
"That boyfriend of yours and sad eyes, lead them away from me. Tell them you found a better case or that you think there's nothing here. I don't care what you do just get them to stop looking for me."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because I gave you a gift." He said matter-of-factly.
"What kind of gift was that if it was taken all away?"
"Well, I mean you and Dean could have it. You're just both too stubborn to give up hunting."
"Is that so? You going to bring John, Mary, and Jess back to life too if we give up hunting."
"Now that I cannot do, but the marriage, kids, you could have it all. In fact, you've already started on one of those." He hinted.
"What?"
"You're pregnant, so you might want to start thinking about giving up this whole hunting thing. Does that count as a present now? If so mind telling your boys it's time to hit the road?"
"I'll do it, just get out of here. Go terrorize some other town. When there's nothing happening, we'll leave."
With that, the asshat of an archangel was out of your sight as you stood there stunned wondering how the hell you were going to tell Dean what just happened.

just got whacked over the head with the thought that whenever mason doesn’t know how to phrase his thoughts he just kisses ida instead because he’s always been able to communicate better through physical intimacy than words, and kissing ida is somehow less mortifying than looking her in the eye as he tries to fight against his own tongue

The Name Garden: Q&A Monday
Hello everyone, and welcome to a brand new week of baby names! Here are the anonymous questions that I received during the week. I hope the answers give you some naming inspiration; feel free to share your own answers in the comments below, and help others in the naming community out!
Do you have a question you’d like answered on The Name Garden Q&A Monday? Send it in here!
---
Q: Which one of this names do you prefer: Noelle Lorena or Primrose/Primrosa Noelle? For a French-spanish family living in Spain?
A: I really like Primrose, and I want to go with it, but I’m not feeling the 2-2 syllable feel. The other two have a nicer flow to them! I haven’t actually heard of Primrosa before, but I think I like that. Primrosa Noelle. I feel like the -a ending will be more common in Spain, and therefore easier to go with. Noelle then brings that French sound into it. So Primrose Noelle is my choice.
---
Q: Hello! I was wondering if you had some pretty middle name ideas for a baby girl named Celese? Thanks so much. I hope your new treatment plan helps you feel better with your RA! ❤
A: I’ve never heard of Celese! I’m assuming it’s pronounced se-LEES? Here are some middle names that mind sound nice with the name:
Celese Thalia
Celese Violet
Celese Annabella
Celese Jolene
Celese Annalee
Celese Isla
Celese Victoria
Celese Maya
Celese Phoebe

And thank you, I really appreciate it. I’m day one into chemotherapy, and haven’t felt any negative side effects yet, but I hear that might come tomorrow. Hopefully the pain will be reducing in 6-8 weeks though!
---
Q: Hey I'm having my baby in July and for a girls name we have 'Harley Piper Scout H' and I love that. But for boys names we can only agree on liking the following - Tyler, Max, Jack. My partner hated my suggestions for Wyatt and Wesley and Milo and Coen and Arlo. My partner likes James and Ethan but I don't. Can you help suggest some boy names? I like slightly unusual names I don't want a totally common name. Thank you x

Q: I'm looking for a kind of dark yet believable first name for a boy with the surname "Hellgoth". Any ideas?
A: That is a tricky one, I feel like a lot of dark names will tip it over the edge of believable, so you do want to go fairly neutral (as I’m assuming it’s for a character). Here are some that may work, from very neutral, to bordering quite dark:
Blaise Hellgoth
Damon Hellgoth
Edgar Hellgoth
Damien Hellgoth
Dante Hellgoth
Bram Hellgoth
Victor Hellgoth
Kane Hellgoth
Orion Hellgoth
Maxim Hellgoth
Klaus Hellgoth
Dane Hellgoth
Desmond Hellgoth
Edwin Hellgoth
Stellan Hellgoth
Silas Hellgoth
Damius Hellgoth
Silvain Hellgoth
Oren Hellgoth
Pierce Hellgoth
Draven Hellgoth
Erik Hellgoth
Briar Hellgoth
Oleander Hellgoth
Sullen Hellgoth

Q: Re: A sister for Sullivan. Thank you for your response! I really like the names Adelaide and Molly with Sullivan. To respond to your question about my style of names, I like names that I would consider to be quirky vintage. So for girls I like Clementine, Beatrix, Opal and others like this. I also like nature names like Iris and Flora. I don't know that these styles particularly fits with Sullivan... any more suggestions for me? Thank you for your help!
A: Hello again! I’m glad I could help you. Knowing your style does help a lot - I quite like those names too. I think the older names do fit with Sullivan, but since it’s been revived, there’s almost two styles it fits into - one is very vintage and classic, and the other is very modern and funky. So let’s see what we can do with the vintage and classic names!
Sullivan & Arabella
Sullivan & Camille
Sullivan & Poppy
Sullivan & Lillian
Sullivan & Roxanne
Sullivan & Estelle
Sullivan & Estella

GRIMMBROOK SEASON 1 EPISODE 1 “GOODBYE WITCH”
ABIGAIL MYERS
Upon the discovery of Madison Redding’s body, Abigail is interviewed by the police about her connection with the redhead. [x] She has an enlightening conversation with Aurora, where she discovers the girl’s upbringing wasn’t all that perfect after all. [x] She has the night off and goes out for dancing with Dani to get her mind off everything. [x] The next morning, Dani is nowhere to be found, but she runs into Samuel. [x] After confronting her brother about Madison’s murder, Abigail decides to move out from his house. [x] On the way back from work, she runs into Luke and promises to keep an eye on Dani for him. [x] At Madison’s wake, she runs into Caleb and they have a fight. [x] She warns Aurora about Caleb’s manipulation and advices her to start fighting back. [x] Finding Lena falling off a stool, Abigail helps the girl find her footing and befriends her. [x]
ARIELA LOPEZ
Ariela’s presence at the wake had seemed to confuse a few individuals who had mistaken her for a close friend of Madison’s despite her limited interaction with the fiery redhead. Word had circulated quick about the fiery girl when she arrived in town and with numerous regulars warning her to stay away, she made sure to keep her interactions very brief and short. Despite not having a problem with her personally, she’d seen some acts that had confirmed their warnings. Still, she felt guilty that she hadn’t been an ear for the girl. No one deserved to die that way. Staying by the buffet for the majority of the wake, Ariela conversed with many guests such as Luke [x], Esmerelda [x], until she stepped outside and met her ex boyfriend. While their conversation was cut short when he brought her around the building, she was quick to cut it off [x]. By the time she returned inside, she found Danielle who had voiced her need to leave the venue. With a stolen bottle in tow, she brought a spontaneous party to the midnight pub that had been closed for the night. Rather than witness the video in person like everyone else, she only saw it the next morning on her phone [x].
AURORA MYERS
Like everyone else in the town of Grimmbrook that knew Madison, Aurora is required to give a statement [x] to detective Mickey. She receives a gift from a former friend. The past refuses to stay buried and she tells Caleb about the worst [x] thing she’s ever done when skeletal remains are pulled out of a lake in remote Louisiana. Rory sees Abigail in a different [x] light after she rescues her from an awkward phone conversation with her abusive father. She helps Abigail get her belongings [x] together when the latter decides to move out. She doesn’t have an answer [x] for Sirene when asked why Caleb treats her the way he does. At madison’s wake, Abigail calls Rory out for lying [x] on Caleb's behalf. Rory and Caleb are together when a disturbing video [x] is mass texted to everybody in attendance. Before heading home that night, she attempts to comfort [x] Lena. Aurora is unaware that her name [x] and several others are on a burner phone somewhere.
BRANDON WOLFE
Detective Wolfe is called to a crime scene only to recognize the dismembered body of Madison Redding. [x] Once the police leaves the woods, he gets rid of some incriminating evidence. [x] A new day starts with Brandon kicking Luke off his couch. [x] He has lunch with Lena. [x] Stops by the Candy house to collect his fees from Caleb. [x] And seeks some adult entertainment at Fairy Tails, where he runs into Dani. [x] At Madison’s wake, Brandon runs into Ella, and confesses to his relationship with Madison, which completely backfires. [x] He tries to avoid trouble only to find Harriet in the kitchen, and during their argument, he receives an upsetting video from Madison’s murderer in his phone. [x]
CALEB MYERS
After failing to show up at the Sheriff Station, Detective Mickey meets Caleb at the Candy House to get a statement. [x] Brandon Wolfe collects his monthly payout and gets a little judgy. [x] After being accused of murder by his sister, a fight ensues. Abigail decides to move out. [x] Aurora confesses to having murdered a man in Louisiana. [x] At Madison’s memorial he meets a guy named Guy who seems very suspicious. [x] Then he had a heavy argument with his sister [x] , tried to console Harriet [x] and had a friendly chat with Brandon’s ex wife. [x] While searching for something in Madison’s room, Aurora receives a message showing a disturbing video of Madison prior to her death. [x] A flashback shows the moment when Caleb informs Abigail that he is getting married to Aurora. [x]
DANIELLE MASON
It starts out as a job to make ends meet but leaves a sour taste in the mouths of those only wanting to look out for her, proving difficult when Danielle rarely listens. [x] But on her nights off, she takes to partying it up with her best friend, Abigail where they’re often up to no good which they rarely remember anyways. [x] Danielle is introduced back into living with her brother Sammy, realizing a lot has changed since prison and how they have a long way to go to get back where they started. [x] While out to buy a flower for her windowsill, she makes a new friend in Lena. [x] At Madison’s Memorial, there is a rise of emotions and anxiety about it all as she tries to dance and drink it away back at the Midnight Bar with Ariela. [x] After a long night at the club, Danielle finds out that her brother Luke has been beaten up by Casper for a mistake he made over a year earlier. All three Masons decide to enact revenge by stealing from him soon. [x]
ELLA GERTRUDE
Ella entered Madison Redding’s memorial where she encountered local businessman Caleb Myers and discussed the situation of Madison’s murder [x]. Later in the evening, feeling out of place and trying to be of some help, she offered to help Harriet Redding with the dishes [x]. After the conversation ended on a sour note, Ella ran into her ex-husband Brandon Wolfe, who revealed that he’d been intimate with Madison, upon which an argument ensued and stirred up emotions for Ella [x]. She tried to calm down and take Esme outside to sober up [x], but later received an alarming video from Madison’s murderer, which she accidentally-on-purpose shared with Luke Mason [x]. Finally, Ella encountered her friend Danielle and the pair decided to try and leave the gathering early, taking some food and alcohol with them and looking forward to decompressing at home [x].
GUY LOCKSLEY
Guy was called in for an interview with Detective Mickey and tried not to lose his temper [x]. At Madison’s memorial, he had an awkward run-in with Caleb [x] and after that sick video aired he decided it was best that he took Danielle home [x]. Back at his hotel, he had a weird encounter with one of his employees that he’d rather forget [x].
HARRIET REDDING
Harriet had worked day and night to prepare her home for the wake. She’d gotten cleaners in, ordered more flowers than what was needed, more food than her guest could eat, and enough booze to drown an elephant. She’d hoped the later would serve as a means to keep her sane. Nevertheless, it was evident by the slight incident in the kitchen [x] that it had not been enough. With countless visitors, such as Ella [x], Caleb had been the guest that managed to calm her down with a brief walk outside of her home [x]. A much needed moment to herself that was short-lived with the unexpected and frustrating interaction with their famous, Sheriff, Brandon Wolfe. While a fight broke out over the last words he’d shared with Madison and her belief of his involvement with her death, he was at her side when their phones vibrated [x]. While she couldn’t explain how or when, she still holds him responsible.
IDA LAWSON
Ida found herself in a precarious position when she was questioned — at work, no less — by Detective Mickey following the death of Madison Redding. Though it was ultimately a dead end, it ignited a flicker of hope within her that, maybe, justice can be found for Kate, too. [x] Later, Ida went home to recollect her own loss. [x] She then attended the memorial for Madison Redding, where she and Luke Mason bonded as they were interrupted by a horrific video. [x]
LENA THUMBER
Lena advertised and hired her very first member of staff Luke [x], she also met her first friend in a very long time who happened to be Luke’s sister Danielle [x]. She also took lunch to her favorite Sheriff [x] and was later interviewed by the police about Madison [x]. At Madison's memorial she was stunned by the video and then met Abigail [x] who she ended up forming a tentative friendship with.
LUKE MASON
Luke’s luck seemed to be coming around when he stumbled across a Help Wanted sign at a flower shop, and Lena hired him on as her new delivery person [x]. Luke ran into a rather irate Casper Du Pont, who decided to take out his aggression over Luke’s stealing from Isabel personally, with his fists [x]. Later that day, he stopped by Fairy Tails to walk his sister Danielle home, only to have her notice the bruises and cuts on his body. When he stopped at the house to let her clean him up, his twin Sam arrived, saw his injuries, and the trio banded together to target Casper with their latest robbery for hurting Luke [x]. He is currently still sleeping on the Sheriff’s couch… Maybe one day he’ll move out? [x]
SAMUEL MASON
Sam walked in on Luke getting cleaned up by their sister, prompting him to go into full big brother mode. [x] He hates that he still cares so much about someone who doesn’t seem to care for him. He started teaching Sirene his stealing ways, just because she wanted to learn, and he’s extremely enamored with the younger woman. If she told him to jump, he’d ask how high. [x]

Ellis Ruley: Art that Celebrated Life
By Rena Tobey
Better known today than in his lifetime, African American artist Ellis Ruley, and his astonishing story, are an integral part of Norwich’s history. After working in the town’s industrial economy, Ruley’s narrative swerved dramatically during the Great Depression. That story bucked and pulled on Norwich’s social mores, resulting in tragedy. More questions than answers puncture the account, just as the artist leaves behind enigmatic, enchanting paintings.
In 1882, Ruley was the first child born to a couple marked by slavery. His father, Joshua Ruley, fled Wilmington, Delaware, aboard a coal boat headed north. Family legend relays that Joshua swam up the Thames River and became the first runaway slave to live in Norwich. Eudora Robinson, Ruley’s mother, brought five children and an enslaved heritage to her marriage. Together, the couple had seven children, forming a large family, that like other Norwich blacks, lived in poverty.
The town prospered as a convenient rail stop between Boston and New York City, until 1889, when the new rail bridge over the Thames River at New London bypassed Norwich. The Ruley family’s struggles mirrored the town’s subsequent decline. Ellis Ruley left school early, to shovel coal on barges and work as a mason tender for construction. Ruley worked as a day laborer until 1949, when he retired to paint fulltime.
Turmoil and Racial Tension
Turmoil defined the artist’s life. At least eight miscarriages and stillborn infants marred his marriage to Ida Bee, before the birth of his daughter Marion in 1912. The couple separated, and Ida Bee died before Marion turned four. Nearly 20 years later, Ruley married Wilhelmina Fox, a German, white woman, after she divorced Ruley’s brother Amos. Forming an interracial couple was audacious during this time, especially considering the presence of the Ku Klux Klan in Norwich for more than a decade. The organization’s first cross burning there was in 1924, and the KKK found a foothold among Norwich residents embittered by the influx of eastern European, predominantly Polish, immigrants.

A sudden influx of wealth most likely added to the resentment of the mixed-race marriage. In September 1929, Ruley received injuries in a truck accident while leaving a construction site. Three years later, a court awarded him $25,000 in damages—a small fortune during the height of the Depression. Ruley promptly bought property on Foxhill in all-white Laurel Hill. A dilapidated, 1700s farmhouse, with no electricity or running water, remained on the property. The Ruley family promptly moved in, perhaps carried by the brand new, green Chevrolet coupé they nicknamed “Green Hornet.” When many families faced desperate times, the Ruley’s owned a new car, a home, and property in an established neighborhood.
Ruley went to work renovating the house, reportedly only 18 x 20 feet, to create a sanctuary. He had a drive for self-sufficiency, and the vegetarian family, a rarity at the time, grew vegetables and tended a fruit orchard. They also foraged the property’s hemlock forest for herbs to use in medicinal salves. Around 1939, at age 57, Ruley began to create—first decorating window screens he built for the house. Neighbors then paid him to paint their window screens. One often saw paintings of animals, birds, and tropical plants on black masonry paper hung around the Ruley home.
Still, the neighborhood proved less than congenial. His children and grandchildren were taunted by name calling and stone throwing on their way to school. Drunken troublemakers catcalled during the night. Wilhelmina grew increasingly frustrated, even as she implored her family to ignore them—she ultimately left Ruley shortly before his death. As Ruley stabilized the long, wagon-road driveway up the hill to his house, white neighbors began to use it without his permission. Disputes arose and locals pressured Ruley to sell his property, but he refused, and instead built stone walls along the property line.
Ellis Ruley Finds His Escape in Art
Art became his retreat. He began painting on posterboard and Masonite, using oil-based house paint and varnish he bought at the hardware store. Ruley did not date his work, although he did have a stamp made reading “Ellis W. Ruley,” which he sometimes stamped twice per work. He set up his handmade easel at the window or in the yard to depict nature in balanced harmony with humans and animals.

Dreamy, evocative, and poetic, Ruley’s paintings often expressed biblical and African folkloric themes in his distinctive, self-taught style. His most acclaimed painting, and the largest, portrays a white-skinned self-portrait as Adam with a white Eve, before the serpent’s temptation. Ruley believed the races could live together in peace, and he lived in his own Garden of Eden on Foxhill. The Slater Museum owns Daydreaming, another metaphorical piece. Here, lions relax in an idyllic garden setting, loving and nuzzling each other. Some interpret the lion couple at the front as representing Ruley and Wilhelmina. Antelope feel safe lingering in the scene’s background. Ruley painted the potentially ferocious animal kingdom as gentle togetherness.
Ellis Ruley, Daydreaming, Landscape with Lions, enamel house paint on cardboard – The Slater Memorial Museum
The Slater played a pivotal role in ensuring Ruley’s memory today. Joseph Gualtieri, its former director who died in late January 2015, met the artist in the early 1950s. Gualtieri taught painting and drawing at the Norwich Free Academy, and when the newly retired Ruley introduced the director to his work, Gualtieri invited the painter to be part of the school’s art fair in December 1952—Ruley’s only exhibit during his lifetime. Gualtieiri also tried to promote Ruley’s work in New York, but meeting with failure, reported that the timing was “off” for the black folk artist’s work.
Collector Glenn Robert Smith met the director when researching Ruley and quotes Gualtieri, “Due to his lack of training, all his paintings took on an unmistakable Ellis Ruley look–a primitive quality, possessing great charm, always colorful, decorative, and festive in mood, a celebration of life.” Smith found Adam and Eve at the Brimfield Antiques Fair in 1984, paying $3,500 for an unsigned work by an unfamiliar artist. (Fifteen dollars was the most Ruley charged for a painting.) Gualtieri authenticated Adam and Eve, remembering it hung over Ruley’s couch at home.
Smith’s efforts and a posthumous exhibit brought renewed attention to Ruley’s work. His fanciful take on media imagery attracted collectors. Ruley freely borrowed depictions of white men and women from movie stills and magazine ads for his quirky paintings of cowboys on rearing horses and scenes of everyday Norwich life. His nostalgic town images included the tramway, rental canoes at Monhegan Park, and the nearby falls. Ruley loved the exotic and painted zebras, literally showing black and white working together. He painted Grey Owl, who left England and his identity as Archibald Belaney, to experience indigenous life in Canada.
Women also made a beloved subject. The Amistad Foundation’s African American Collection at The Wadsworth Atheneum features Grapefruit Picking Time, showing Ruley’s love of repeat patterning. The strong vertical of the ladder interrupts the flattened fruit orchard. Each woman, rung by rung, has a distinctive attitude toward the painter, and the viewer, beseeching, miffed, playful.
Untimely and Suspicious Deaths
But all was not beautiful in Ruley’s world. In 1948, Douglas Harris, married to Ruley’s daughter Marion, was found with three skull fractures, thrust head first in the property’s well. The coroner determined that Harris tripped and fell into the well. Then in January 1959, the 77-year-old Ruley cashed his Social Security check, visited a favorite downtown bar, and afterward, stepped out of a taxi near the front door of his home.
The next morning, Ruley lay partially frozen, face down in a long trail of blood, 200 feet down his driveway, with his empty wallet nearby. As with his son-in-law, authorities declared the death accidental, attributed to a heart attack. Weeks later, the house burned, destroying about 50 paintings. Devastated, Marion was institutionalized at Norwich State Hospital and had a lobotomy without the family’s consent. Witnesses later reported seeing a city judge driving the Green Hornet. Norwich blacks believed Ruley murdered and that prominent officials played a part in the cover-up.
In October 2014, officials exhumed the bodies of Ruley and Harris at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich for examination. The resulting autopsy for Ruley proved inconclusive, although the cause of death for Harris remained suspicious. Both bodies received new headstones and coffins upon reburial.
Rena Tobey is an American art historian, with special focus on women artists working before 1945. She also created a tabletop board game on the adventures of art and art history.

Band Bio "Ancient Future is a rare kind of band that might simultaneously aggravate purists, confound New Age dilettantes, seduce skeptics, and dazzle just about everybody else. Delicious compositions, intricate arrangements, crisp playing and impeccable production put these ambitious voyagers in a league of their own." -Derk Richardson, SAN FRANCISCO BAY GUARDIAN Formed in late 1978, Ancient Future is the first and longest running musical organization dedicated exclusively to the mission of creating world fusion music. The term was coined by bandleader Matthew Montfort to describe Ancient Future’s unusual blend of musical traditions from around the world. BILLBOARD calls the group "trendsetters" for their early contributions to the movement, which seeks to show how people from different cultures can grow by learning from each other. Ancient Future has released seven full length studio CDs selling over 150,000 units: Visions of a Peaceful Planet, Natural Rhythms, Quiet Fire, Dreamchaser, World Without Walls, Asian Fusion, and Planet Passion. Over one million legal mp3 files from three of these releases on Ancient-Future.Com Records have been distributed commercially. Ancient Future is also featured on samplers selling millions of units on labels such as Putumayo and Narada. They are currently working on recordings for their fan funded Archive of Future Ancient Recordings. Over an hour of music in the archive is already available exclusively to supporters, with more to come as funds are raised. Over the years, Ancient Future has expanded its musical vision through collaborations with master musicians from more than two dozen countries, cultures, and musical traditions who are now an integral part of what is today more than just a band. Ancient Future has grown to become a large multinational music ensemble with many smaller ensembles within it, enabling Ancient Future to realize its core mission of creating world fusion music. Through cross cultural exchange, Ancient Future has created a musical world without borders. Matthew Montfort (bandleader, scalloped fretboard guitar) Matthew Montfort is the leader of the world fusion music ensemble Ancient Future. He is a pioneer of the scalloped fretboard guitar (an instrument combining qualities of the South Indian vina and the steel string guitar). In 2009, he released his first solo guitar recording, Seven Serenades for Scalloped Fretboard Guitar, which debuted at #8 on Zone Music Reporter's Top 100 February 2009 World Radio Chart, and held the #34 spot on the Top 100 of 2009. He has performed concerts worldwide, including at the Festival Internacional de la Guitarra on the golden coast of Spain near Barcelona and the Mumbai Festival at the Gateway of India in Bombay. He has performed live on national radio and TV shows such as the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. Montfort wrote the book Ancient Traditions - Future Possibilities: Rhythmic Training Through the Traditions of Africa, Bali, and India, which has been used by many musicians to improve their rhythm skills. Jim Hurley (violin) Jim Hurley has been playing violin since 1969. He holds a B.A. in Music from Humboldt State University. Influenced profoundly by South Indian violinist L. Shankar, he incorporates styles from bebop to zydeco, European classical to Zairean soukous. He has toured Europe and Japan and performed at numerous major music festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Jim Hurley has released two solo recordings, Primary Colors, and Finger Painting. Doug McKeehan (keys) Doug McKeehan started his piano studies at age five, and began his first professional work at the age of twelve. He studied music at the Oberlin Conservatory, Kent State University, and the University of Otago (New Zealand). He has toured Europe twice and spent considerable time in India studying with notable Indian music teachers such as Pandit Ram Narayan, Ustad Kursheed Khan and Pandit A.G. Bhattacharya. He has composed original music for stage and T.V. productions in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has been musical director of two original musical comedy productions. He cofounded Air Craft with violinist Bruce Bowers, which released a highly acclaimed progressive jazz album, So Near, So Far (Crafted Air CA 30100). He is a first call jazz pianist in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ian Dogole (percussion) Ian Dogole holds a B.A. in Ethnomusicology from Brown University and an M.A. in Classics from Villanova University. He began his musical studies with the piano at the age of five, later switching to jazz guitar which was to be his primary focus until taking up percussion during his ethnomusicology studies. He has released numerous albums as a bandleader, including Along the Route (Dr. Unit), Dangerous Ground (Café), Ionospherses (C.E.I.), Night Harvest (Global Fusion Music), Convergence (Jazzheads), and Outside the Box – Jazz Journeys & Worlds Beyond (Global Fusion Music), all pioneering works in the field of world fusion music. The inviting melodies and ingenious use of ethnic textures make this recording one of Ancient Future's most accessible and broadly appealing releases ever. World Without Walls Media Report (6.4 MB .pdf): http://www.ancient-future.com/pdf/mediaworldwithoutwalls.pdf "World Without Walls speaks to a cultural enrichment, a melding of world culture with Ancient Future's own lush sense of melody and rhythmic drive." - John Diliberto, JAZZIZ Asian Fusion by Ancient Future (Narada Equinox ND-63023): CD - $24.98 (collectable signed copy): Buy Link: http://www.ancient-future.com/asian.html Press Audio Download: Mezgoof (Ian Dogole) MP3 (excerpt, 800K): http://www.ancient-future.com/audio/mezgoof.mp3 Asian Fusion is a musical travelogue spanning the vast geographic and cultural expanse of Asia showcasing some of the top performers in the Asian music field, including Zhao Hui, China's preeminent master of the gu zheng (Chinese zither) and Bui Huu Nhut, a leading performer of the Vietnamese dan bau (a one-string Vietnamese instrument with an indigenous version of a whammy bar). Asian Fusion received much critical acclaim. It made the Tower Pulse! Top 10 Best Contemporary Instrumental Releases of 1993 List (#4) and was Guitar Player magazine's "Pick" for April 1994. Asian Fusion Media Report (11.4 MB .pdf): http://www.ancient-future.com/pdf/mediaasianfusion.pdf "This compilation of 12 songs influenced by the Far East has all the sweeping impact of epic movies such as 'The Last Emperor.'" - CHICAGO TRIBUNE Planet Passion by Ancient Future (Ancient-Future.Com AF 2010): CD - $17.98: Buy Link: http://www.ancient-future.com/planetpassion.html Press Audio Download: Socha Socha (Khan/Montfort) MP3 (short version, 3.6 MB): http://www.ancient-future.com/audio/sochasocha.mp3 The classic lineup of Ancient Future performing these special reunion concerts also was featured on one cut on the Planet Passion CD: the song Socha Socha on which they accompanied sitar master Pandit Habib Khan. Originally released in 2002, it was remastered and re-issued in 2009 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the first Ancient Future concert. Planet Passion Media Report (3 MB .pdf): http://www.ancient-future.com/pdf/MediaAncientFuture.pdf "If the members of the United Nations formed a world-fusion band, it might look and sound a little something like Ancient Future’s re-issue of their seventh recording. At its best, Planet Passion strives to preserve the world's vast musical heritage via international collaboration: the idea that one protects the old by creating something new. This is at the heart of fusion music and the heart of Ancient Future's global aesthetics, too: a diverse, unified world without borders, a multicultural community, a new, reconstituted sonic reality." - Ryan Allen, LEO WEEKLY, Louisville, Kentucky 115 Word Radio Announcement The exact lineup of the pioneering world music group Ancient Future that performed on their influential World Without Walls and Asian Fusion recordings is reuniting to perform at the 2019 San Francisco International Arts Festival on Sunday, May 26, at 5 PM at Gallery 308 in Fort Mason in San Francisco. Kole x Lou Ship Child
Name: Abigail Ida Mason Gender: Female General appearance: Long, blonde hair [used to be darker], hazel green eyes, light skin tone, she used to have freckles like her mom but they disappeared as she grew older. Personality: Abby intelligent, quick-thinking, and observant. She uses her brains and sharp tongue to outsmart people - but that doesn’t mean she’s not tough. While she never physically gets into fights like her old man, Abby can take pain - physical and emotional. She’s the apple of her father’s eye and the spitting image of her mother. Special talents: Abby can dance rather well - it’s one of her favorite things to do. Who they like better: Equal - some days it’s mom and other days it’s dad. Who they take after more: Lou more than Kole. Personal headcanon: Abby’s a total Daddy’s girl - she gets away more with Kole than she does with Lou, because Kole cannot say ‘no’ to the pouty face she makes.
Face Claim: Dakota Fanning
