The third of the drawing tests using the characters from @therealandian's ReDeath / Search Through The Stars AU! If you haven't guessed already, it's Martin Blackwood, long-time Mechanism, survivor of Yog-Sothoth and long-lost protector/love interest of Jonathan Sims! Thanks to Andian themselves for clearing up his eye colour for me; originally, I was going to make it brown with like a slight bluish tint in order to reflect his time in Yog-Sothoth, but then I realized it probably would have been mentioned in the fic if he had heterochromia, so I abandoned the idea. I exchanged it for an unnatural vibrancy to his eyes, which wouldn't be as noticeable to others and is still kinda not mentioned but we take creative liberties when the idea is too exciting. I honestly love Martin's characterization in the fics, it makes his more Web-like ties a bit more... there? Like don't get me wrong they are, but it feels more tangible when you throw in a few centuries or so of age and experience to strengthen them. You know the drill; The Eye wants more. Have fun guessing who is next... or more, *what* is next~

"is it... Leo?". no. book thats meant to hurt u. michelangelo WAS. a party dude.... now heres the saddest shit you ever did see.

in general. loving this. my fav activity of. like seeing a stories foreshadowing and well. i already know some things/doesnt even seem like they dont WANT u to put those pieces together. just. its interesting for the. I'm already really interested in how each adaption characterizes the turtles. and this is like. okay now put those skills to work. AND, the like. whose he talking to -> oh its his brothers -> are they actually there -> doesnt seem like it -> are they literal ghosts or metaphorical ghosts. which one, another fav topic of mine. two, even if im pretty sure they aren't literal ghosts, i still dont technically know, and THREE. my first turtle media (2018 show) DOES have literal ghosts in it. SO!!!

theres a little more after this in this. issue/volume that i did read,but did not get pics, but like yet more spoiler, he doesn't die in the first issue! lol. and theres some friendly faces, and a very wistfully unconscious guy dreams of a better time scene. (that also uses unmasked turtles to obscure the who's who of it all). I will probably revisit them. but the last page does have the name reveal and a "who are u talking to" like. can u image live reading that. id lose my mind. I knew all that and I still lost my mind.

Sherlock: Seasons 1 to 4 - A Review

Hello, my darling readers! You know what they say: better late than never! I finally binged all four Sherlock seasons, so I want to share a few quick thoughts I have about them.

The Plot:

I truly think that if nandor wore one of those frilly aprons and put those old times curl things in his hair and then made Guillermo a casserole that was just the absolute worst to look at and eat. Absolutely vile. Steam rising off it in the shape of a skull the whole thing. and Guillermo lied and was like “mmmmm! Wowie sooo so so good and yummy! This is the best casserole in Staten Island love it” while trying to throw this gods-worst-mistake of a casserole away while nandors not looking so it seems like he’d eaten it…… I feel like nandor would finally be happy

No Soul Necessary: Flowey’s Happy Ending (Part 3)

“We’ve got more beef than a prizewinning cow, but I want to forgive you so hard right now.”

If Flowey can’t feel love and compassion, it’s possible he can’t feel love and compassion for himself. Under his guilt and self-loathing, he may be unable to understand his life is valuable, and that he deserves happiness.

If he genuinely can never feel self-compassion, and so let himself pursue happiness again, then he might never really be happy. He might be haunted forever; he might forever disbelieve Frisk if Frisk claims he deserves happiness. More compellingly, he himself (as Asriel, temporarily) tries to separate his existence as a soulless flower from his brief return as a Boss Monster/Boss Monster-looking being, and has no compassion for Flowey.

Yet, Flowey’s happiness may not be impossible: his True Reset speech could be motivated just as easily by a little bit of compassion as by guilt. Perhaps absorbing the souls of so many monsters had some after-effects, however small. It’s unlikely everyone he’s ever killed would forgive him, as they don’t remember, but Frisk could, and maybe that would be enough.

To get his happy ending, Flowey must, to some extent, value himself for himself. As one could call this “selfishness” or “arrogance”, this might seem contradictory. Yet, it makes sense: kind, compassionate Asriel was too selfless, too altruistic, too self-sacrificing. He didn’t care enough about himself, or his worries. His love or loyalty to Chara got him killed, and guilt-ridden for who knows how long.1

So far as can be inferred from his story in the Genocide Route, when he woke up as a flower and couldn't feel love for or from his parents, he turned his turmoil inward. There's no evidence he lashed out at first. He might have instead suffered in silence, until his despair grew too great and he killed himself. He reloaded and used his power for good, but when it didn't make him happy, he turned to violence to fill his life with fun, with some sort of meaning.

Later on, Asriel accepts if Frisk neither forgives nor comforts him, apparently believing he doesn’t deserve it for all his bad deeds. At the flowerbed, he says he can’t go up the surface “like this” (resembling Asriel), because it would only break his parents’ hearts. He doesn’t think well of Flowey; in fact, in the flowerbed speech, he talks about Flowey as if he’s a separate being, and an object rather than a person.2

In the True Reset speech, Flowey still focuses on others: others’ lives and happiness, not his own. He talks about everyone’s happiness and letting Frisk “live their life”, but doesn’t mention himself. His persuasion seems half-hearted, and he doesn’t object much to the idea his memories will be erased: perhaps he’s resigned to his fate as a tool for the True Pacifist ending.

That caring for oneself is 'selfish' is often drilled into humans' heads by society. People are often taught to sacrifice for others, but not how to appreciate and care for themselves.

It is possible monster society takes caring for others, including self-sacrifice, to greater lengths than human society. Asgore himself suffered so much to give his people hope (though that's entwined with his responsibility as king). Monsters also believe their very souls are made of love, hope, and compassion; before breaking the barrier, Asriel notes how strange it is that many monsters love Frisk despite barely knowing them.

If Flowey indeed stays in the Underground, as many works assume, it could be from the belief he doesn’t deserve happiness, that his happiness means misery to others, or both. To SAVE Flowey, he must balance his guilt with his altruism. Given the sheer scope of his crimes (despite the fact time travel erased it all) and indisputably selfish motives in doing so, convincing him he deserves to live a good life may be the most difficult battle of all.

Calling Flowey just “a flower” and “it” rather than “he”. Some caveats: the whole idea of 'it' being dehumanizing doesn't work so well when nearly a third of monsters apparently go by 'it'. Some monsters also casually refer to each other by breed, such as Undyne being referred to as "a fish/a fish lady". At the very least, Asriel is misgendering Flowey. ↩︎

Gen 4 Pose Dump: a gift to celebrate my two years in the simblr community

Alternate title: pose dump I should’ve released about a year ago but I was lazy

Today marks two years since I first posted on this blog! A lot has changed since then. First I wanted it to be a sims 4 only simblr, then about a month later I decided to post sims 3 too. I went from alpha to maxis match in ts4, no cc to way too much cc in ts3. Good and bad storylines, dumb jokes and references to literally anything, big and small obsessions. I would like to thank you for following me on this crazy journey. I’ve learned a lot new things here, not just simming-wise, and I hope I contributed something to the community as well.

Back to the pose dump. It contains all the poses I created for my main gen 4 storyline (aka tyler storyline, hence the “ts” in the codes, even though it wasn’t all about Tyler which makes me wonder why the heck that was my working title). They’re bad. Really bad. But hey, maybe someone will find them useful.

Random fact before we get to the important part: This is a gen 4 dump so you would think I’d use gen 4 sims for this shitty preview. Nah, that would make too much sense. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I actually used two sims from a failed legacy attempt, one former BC contestant and three grandkids of said gen 4 (but these three have only been used as bases because again, that makes a lot of sense.) Eh, you don’t care about that. These are the things you should know though:

The second of the drawing tests using the characters from @therealandian's ReDeath / Search Through The Stars AU! If you haven't guessed already, it's Elias Magnus, the (former) Head of the Magnus Institute, bringer of the apocalypse of his world ("safely" reversed), and a newborn Mechanism! There's not much that I did for Elias' eye in particular due to wanting to keep it as series accurate as possible. I did make it a bit lighter than most fanarts I've seen though because after 200 years you would think the eye would begin to sorta... fail, to some degree. I'm surprised he never had much issue with it, or that he didn't end up completely blind after being cut off from The Eye. Overall the main inspiration for skin tone etc comes from @ike9306's fanarts of Elias (usually with Donovan lolol). Also screw you Andian (/j) for making me actually like this version of Elias/Jonah! I couldn't stop laughing at his later antics post-Aldara, especially his approaches to helping readers-know-who against his original judgement. I honestly enjoy his snark and would probably befriend him if I could. You know the drill; The Eye wants more. Have fun guessing who is next~
