these ocs came to me fully formed like athena from zeus' head. i'm just here for the ride. HEAVY BG3 SPOILERS ( under cut. )
a study in being the daughter of bloodied revenge. vampiric legacy. and demigirlhood vs demigodhood. trying to reject murder hoboism.
truly truly, i'm just here for funsies. my new years resolution was to be more cringe okay. and that means bastard children ocs. i'll be honest, i don't really care where anyone stands on dadstarion. ascended astarion is a bad person. i got a stupid plot idea of him father some dhampir children of varying alignments. it's 2024 i don't need to defend myself. i'm having fun.
they come from a specific ascended astarion @deconsacro is their blog canon father. if they interact with another astarion they will not consider him to be their father unless you preplotted with me.
i'm what's up i'm 28 and i hate incest. don't follow me if you're a minor.
fantasma "tas" summerborn - half elf ( dhampir ) grave cleric - 19 in elf years calalily "cal" summerborn - half elf ( dhampir ) oath of conquest - 19 in elf years xypherine "xyphie" summerborn - half elf ( dhampir ) mastermind rogue / hexblade warlock / college of swords bard - 19 in elf years
some notes. until i publish their carrd.
while cal and tas are twins, xyphie has a different mother. all three are very close in age. the girls haven't had much contact with their vampire father in their lives. it's nothing against him. he's just in vampiric torpor for their entire childhoods. an early thread on this blog will be xyphie waking him up.

bouncing off of this wonderful post mentioning how zathuda expects to be the main character because he would be in many current stories, as well as my own thoughts about fearne & her family ive had for a while: i think it is interesting how fearne is representative of the different ways folk portray fae in modern media.
first off, id like to note how many fae in cr feel like they are an homage to fae stories embedded in our cultural consciousness. for example, artagan was most definitely based off of jareth in labyrinth, and his moniker of the traveler may be an homage to the fable of the satyr & the traveller. so, what is fearne?
one of the first 4-sided dives featured ashley & matt discussing how they based fearne's story off of a guillermo del toro flick - and this definitely clicked to me. morrigan, ira, & all her bizarre animal friends at morri's mansion would fit so easily into a del toro film you wouldn't even blink at them. in del toro's work (namely pan's labyrinth & hellboy 2: the golden army) faeries are fundamentally strange, offputting, & wonderfully weird. they are goblins with wagons as legs, and trolls with talking tumors, and terrifyingly skinny entities with eyes in their hands that eat children. you can practically see doug jones in an intricate suit & makeup to play ira like he did the pale man or the faun (i swear matt's hand usage as ira is an homage to jones's iconic hands in costume), see the puppet of morrigan that weighs over a ton controlled by five folk at once. del toro's work as well as matt & ashley's plays into a fae that is more complicated than a human imagines at face value, something you must work to imagine & understand (& create). something playful, integrally bound to oaths, ancient, mischievous. it is happy & natural to be gross & incomprehensible and that is part of what makes these films (as well as other bizarre puppeteered dreamscapes like the dark crystal, labyrinth) almost comforting even when sad. pan's labyrinth also features a young girl as a protagonist, ofelia, who sees these creatures as respite & destiny, who is a fae princess amidst mortal war. fearne couldn't be more ofelia if she tried. (side note - god does the scene of the pale man eating the pixies in front of ofelia feel like fearne learning what lud does to her people. someone even made a meme of it.)
on the other hand, zathuda & birdie's story is obviously based on a fae romance novel that populates shelves today - sarah j maas's or holly black's work comes to mind. zathuda is (or was - he seems a ghost of it) clearly a looker, a fierce & sexy hunter, a handsome & strong unseelie royal who somehow takes in & courts a random nobody girl, birdie. but cr notably frames the love story narrative as a classist manipulation, that leaves birdie running for the rest of her life, falling for a weirdo nobody like her over zathuda, and leaves fearne without parents that would show her this incredibly popular kind of romance as an answer. she cannot fall back on a family of kisses drawing blood, of hunter & hunted as a beautiful meet-cute, of a throne & power. she can only fall back on the strange, the grotesque, the raw. they are ugly compared to a promise of a masquerade ball or leading a wild hunt, what folk expect of fae in a barnes & noble book haul - but they promise a safety in the outcast. because a guillermo del toro film will always fundamentally be about the human condition. "monsters are the patron saints of our blissful imperfections." every monster in his stories is a person as much as you or me is.
fearne was born of a fae romance novel but raised in a puppeteer-and-vfx fairytale film. she holds not only exandria's fate in her hands, but the feywild's, too. fae see themselves as higher beings while squabbling in courts as much as mortals do. they refuse to accept their chaos and try to maintain order & royalty with courts and bloodlines against each other. try to keep fae out of exandria because they cant know they are alike to their mortal counterparts. they cant be wild like a party of puppets at the end of labyrinth dancing with the human girl sarah. they wish to be as mysterious as if they lived in a ya dystopia. and it is clearly leaving them worse. fearne is the literal unity of all the ways fae are potrayed in a modern landscape. what will that mean for her and her home in the end?

as a child RAPHITA spent most of their time at their papa's knee. helping him in the half built DUSCUR, among his own people. a child raised to help repair old wounds and tie old bonds. a symbol of life among their people. held up by the only family they have ever known. the whispers of the language DUSCUR falling upon their ears. RODRIGUE close by watching their every motion and movement. the news of a war. a return to FODLAN. a return to a place they could not remember ever being. far from the uncles and the aunties who keep them company. FODLAN suddenly they are faced with new faces. a different language full of harsh sounds and angry glowering wherever they are unlucky enough to go. they meet him. a man tall and scowling with yellow hair. he seems to soften just a little at their presence. they are pushed forward. RAPHITA does the only thing they can think of. they bow. hardly a truly formal thing. but that does change the fact that they do bow. the man, their king, their father as they'll one day learn to address him. DIMITRI bows back. a half tearing smile on his lips. the day is bitter sweet for many reasons.

How Iconic Movie Monster “The Pale Man” Was CreatedBehind the Scenes of Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s LabyrinthBy David MartíSeptember 21, 2022
With every character I’ve created with Guillermo del Toro, he’s never said, “Right, so, this is exactly what I want.”
He’ll come with an idea and usually some drawings, and from there, it’s up to you to develop the concept. It’s a process.
The earliest take on the Pale Man, from Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), was of a wooden man with drawers in his chest. Inside one of them is a dagger that Ofelia has to find, but if she opens the wrong drawer, there’s a thin, long, slimy tongue that licks her face.
Guillermo was like, “No, no, no. We need something else.”
Next, we came up with a fat, old man, sitting at the banquet table, who suddenly becomes very thin.
Again, Guillermo was like, “No, no, no. Let’s change it.”
He wanted the Pale Man to be stick-thin with hanging skin, and for reference he gave us that Salvador Dali painting of melting clocks.
But he’s like, “I still don’t like it . . . Remove his eyes.”
I was like, “Remove his eyes? What the hell? But OK.”
We removed his eyes. Then Guillermo tells us to remove his nose as well. I’m like, “How is he going to breathe?”
So Guillermo says, “Do a manta ray sort of thing.”
As a director, he’s the most creative person I’ve ever worked with. But as a producer, his first and only priority is the film itself.
So we did those little, round holes. And we were getting pretty close to what we ended up with in the movie. But then Guillermo’s like, “It’s not right. Let’s do this: When Ofelia eats the grape, he’ll transform. He’ll open his mouth, his lips will recede, the screaming skull of a horse will come out, and he’ll turn into a four-legged creature that chases her.”
We were in the middle of pre-production, we had no money left, and suddenly Guillermo came up with something that not only required a make-up, but also a mechanical thing, and then a puppet. I told him he’d have to find someone else to do it and he got mad at me.
The thing is, whenever I talk about Guillermo, I always say the same. As a friend, he’s the best you could ever have. As a director, he’s the most creative person I’ve ever worked with. But as a producer, his first and only priority is the film itself.
We took some time to cool down and met a while later in Madrid. Guillermo backed down from the screaming horse concept, but the make-up was still not quite there. As he has no eyes, I asked, “How is he going to find Ofelia?”
Guillermo said to me, “Close your eyes and try to find me.”
I thought maybe he’d slap my face, but OK, I closed my eyes. First, I felt around on the table on front of me, then I reached out as far as I could, with my hands wide open. Guillermo yells, “Stop there!”
And he comes up to me and draws eyes on my palms. I was like, “That makes no sense! He grabs the fairy with his eyes?”
But he says, “Stop thinking about practical stuff and think about magic.”
I was like, “You’re right! OK. Let’s do this.”
The first make-up test we did was with just the face and the hands. Guillermo said maybe we should add some tattoos or something, but I convinced him we didn’t need more detail. That the simpler the design, the better.
So Doug Jones is sitting in the chair, playing with the make-up, trying things out. He holds his hands up to his face, like he’s staring at us, then he closes his hands, and opens them again, like he’s blinking. It was just the most amazing moment.
We painted his pointy fingers black, so they’d look like eyelashes. And finally, we agreed: we had our Pale Man!
He didn’t come from Guillermo’s mind, though, or mine. More, a mix of accidents, financial limitations and great ideas from many different artists. Plus Doug, of course, flapping his fingers!
And that’s how we somehow created what very quickly became an iconic movie monster.

lenore's oc concept " your dead ex gf " for sapphic character ONLY. for everyone else. not sorry! they're a lesbian!
obviously they don't have to be your character's dead ex. you have to talk to me about that first.
they are explicitly an examination of bury your gays and being stuffed in the fridge. so lesbophobia, in the context as homophobia and misogyny cross roads will be discussed here. if that makes you uncomfortable please do not follow me.
lenore uses exclusively THEY/THEM pronouns. this is not up for debate.
lenore is a homunculus.
OH SWEET LENORE, was created in a lab. This they have always know. The twins as their mother MAYA LAVANDA called them with Lever. But that's not what they were. What they would ever be. they were not twins. They were creations yes. But she Lenore from science and LEVER from magic and when the spark of life was blessed upon them both, the a bright flash from the creature from ADAM himself. They were born upon the same moment. Brough from hell with their own rage and joy coming into existence with their screams. Pieced together from the forgotten remains of many a girl lost to time LENORE began to step froward. Equal parts sad smiles and sweet lips. A lost son of sappho.

Selena Quintanilla - Queen of Tejano
If any of you grew up in the 90s to early-2000s, you know about Selena Quintanilla. Whether it's hearing her music on the radio, or your mom's CDs/playlists, or you were made to watch the movie every year in your Spanish classes. As I have grown up, trying to learn about my own Mexican heritage, I have had the joy of teaching her songs to my mom and learning about her story. Selena has certainly become a beloved icon to Mexican heritage in general, and her love only grows with each generation that is taught about her. In celebration of this Hispanic-American Heritage Month, I want to be another person to highlight the incredible memory of the incredible Selena Quintanilla, the queen of Tejano music.
Selena was born April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was the youngest of three children to her parents, Abraham Quintanilla and Marcela Ofelia Samora. Selena and her siblings, Suzette and Abraham III. (A.B.) The Quintanilla family would end up opening a restaurant that would be the thing to propel Selena and her family's future.
Abraham Quintanilla was a former musician, specializing in Tejano music. (or, "tex-mex" music - a blend of both Mexican and US influences) He wanted to get his children involved in the world of music, so he had them form a band known as Selena y Los Dinos. Abraham would have Suzette play drums, A.B. on guitar, and Selena did the vocals. Perhaps as a way to bring them closer to their Mexican roots, Selena was instructed to learn Spanish and sing in Spanish. She had only spoken English up to this point.
At just the age of 9, Selena was already becoming a sensation. With her father acting as manager to get them gigs at restaurants, weddings, and other local events, Selena Y Los Dinos was already making a name for themselves. Sadly, though, the band would not be able to use their performances to sustain them in the beginning. The Quintanillas would have to declare bankruptcy and move to Corpus Christi, Texas.
There, Selena and the family began to make themselves more well-known in the Latin music world by publishing their albums under smaller Tejano labels. Due to their growing popularity, Selena would stop going to school by 8th grade, but would still get her GED and study business at Pacific Western University. In 1984, Selena Y Los Dinos released their first album, "Mis Primeras Grabaciones". They would create more albums such as "The New Girl In Town" (1985), "Alpha" (1986), "Muñequito de Trapo" (1986), "And The Winner Is..." (1987), "Preciosa" (1988), and "Dolce Amor" (1989).
During this time, Selena would be awarded with Best Female Vocalist and Performer of the Year at the Tejano Music Awards in 1987 at just fifteen. Two years later, at the Tejano Music Awards in 1989, she would sign with EMI Latin Records, and begin her solo career, releasing her album "Selena" the same year. She would still have the support of her family with her brother, A.B. writing many of her songs and acting as her producer. During this time, she would also start dating her guitarist, Chris Perez, who she married in 1992*. Coca-Cola would also sign her on as a spokesperson.
Her 1991 song, "Buenos Amigos", would hit the top of the US Billboard for Top Latin Songs. She would also release "Entre a Mi Mundo" in 1992, which would top charts in the US. She would tour Mexico and present her newest song, "Como la Flor", which would reach number 6 on the US Billboard for Top Latin Songs.
Though she was largely ignored outside of the Tejano music scene, she would begin to blossom in 1993 into the iconic popstar she is today. Her album "Live!" (1993) would earn her a Grammy for Best Mexican-American Album, also becoming the first female Tejano singer to win a Grammy in that category. "Amor Prohibido" would be her next album in 1994. During that year, she would be labeled "Most Influential Texan" in Texas Monthly, and get an interview with the LA Times. She would also create her own clothing brand and a pair of boutiques in Corpus Christi and San Antonio.
By 1995, Selena would be nominated for another Grammy for Best Mexican-American performance, star as a mariachi singer in the movie "Don Juan DeMarco" with Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando, as well as a few other Latin American shows such as the "Johnny Canales Show".
Sadly, and I'm sure many of you knew this was coming, Selena would not be able to show us how much her legacy would grow past 1995. During her growing career, Selena and her father, Abraham, would be approached by a former nurse named Yolanda Saldivar. Saldivar would propose a Selena fan club, which she would become the president of. Over time, Selena would have Saldivar managing one of her boutiques, believing she could trust her. Sadly, though, Selena would go to meet Saldivar at a hotel on May 31st, 1995 due to Selena's concerns that Saldivar was embezzling from her businesses. Saldivar shot the singer in the shoulder, and Selena tried to flee, collapsing, and being rushed to hospital. She would sadly succumb to her injuries in Corpus Christi, devastating the Latine community. Her family would release her final album, "Dreaming of You" posthumously in 1995.
Selena was a person full of passion. Coming from a working class life, she would remain in the working class community of Molina in Corpus Christi, despite her wealth. She would also involve herself in many social programs, such as working with the Texas Commission on Drug and Alcohol Abuse, the Coastal Bend Aids Foundation, the D.A.R.E. Program, her PSAs for the Houston Area Women's Center and pro-education content, as well as plans to visit a Boys and Girls' Club benefit before her death. In 1997, Jennifer Lopez would star as Selena in the movie by the same name. Chris Perez, Selena's husband, would write a novel to her titled "To Selena, With Love".
Selena's legacy paved the way for new Latin American artists to really explode in the mainstream. She would be an icon for young Hispanic people everywhere. It's truly heartbreaking to lose such a kind and passionate person at such a young age, and not get to see what she could do if her career was able to continue in the way it had been. Yolanda Saldivar is able to ask for parole by 2025, but she'd better prepare for the vehemence of the Latine community for taking such an icon away from us. May Selena rest well always knowing that she is most beloved.
*One of the sources states that Selena and Chris eloped in 1999. This is not true, and I'm not sure why this was stated.
