honestly i will fully admit that my dislike of picard is, above all the valid criticisms, because I tried watching season one while stoned and sensitive and when i saw Icheb die, my 'grew up imagining I was on voyager with Neelix and Naomi and Icheb' self began sobbing inconsolablly

I really find it funny that everyone chose to collectively not address the whole weird and out of nowhere Chakotay/Seven of it all.
Among other good things Admiral Janeway (Voyager version) was totally eliminate the timeline where Seven was married to Chakotay. The moment they entered Alpha Quadrant that relationship just dissolved like mist.
This tells me, Seven only got together with Chakotay was because he was the only one who pursued her and the other options she was willing to have, as she called it, intimate relations with ran away from her. (Yeah, I’m looking at you, Harry.)
Also, I don’t think there was a lot of people she could talk to about messy Human feelings she might have (*cough* for Janeway *cough*). There might have been other queer people on board Voyager but I don’t think they’re close enough to talk to Seven.
And honestly, Seven’s probably hit the point where she just wants to have sex. And the only one actively presenting themself as a viable option is Chakotay.
I hate even writing that down. Feels wrong and I like Chakotay even though he’s bland most of the time.
Anyway I think Bjayzl was the first person who made it click for Seven that she’s attracted to women.
And then Bjayzl showed her true colors and broke Seven in a way that would fundamentally change Seven forever.
Up to the point before Seven was forced to kill Icheb, Seven still had her hair up, a looser form of it but still putting her hair up. After Icheb died, its like the last part of Seven that was Seven of Voyager died with Icheb.
I can only imagine how dark the past decades were after Seven was determined to find and enact her vengeance on Bjayzl. Especially since Seven seemed to have deliberately cut off all ties with the Voyager crew in her quest.
Seven, who always wanted family and a connection, whose worst nightmare was to be alone, deliberately cut her self off.
I really wish Seven and Beverly got to talk more, because in a way they’re two sides of the same coin. Beverly did it to protect Jack, Seven cut off ties because she failed to protect Icheb.
I do think if there’s one thing the show failed to touch on with its themes of family and parenthood, its Seven’s issues. Icheb was her son, and Bjayz., her lover used her to kidnap, maim, and torture her son.
Ugh. I just love Seven of Nine so much as a character.
But also I can see why Seven would have so many issues and why, even if she were getting better with her Borg side, she might have more of a commitment issues.
I’m glad Raffi is there for her, if and when the spin-off gets the greenlit, I look forward to fleshing that more with Raffi. I love that they’re both equally flawed and have baggage. Also middle aged women in love, in a will they won’t they Captain-First Officer romance? Bring it on!.
Anyway, tldr, I’m just really glad everyone collectively went: Seven and Chakotay was a terrible idea.

The three times Seven had to watch someone die and all of it somehow connected to the Borg. I choose these specific scenes to gif because it's the moment she knows there is no hope. And that's painful to me.
Can you imagine how much of a failure she feels? Because Janeway always managed to save her. But Seven couldn't save One. She couldn't save Icheb. She couldn't save Shaw.

It’s been a hot minute since I watched a lot of the episodes they were in but truth be told Voyager really went and established four whole child characters to add to the cast and then barely did anything with three of them when it came to the borg children. However I am not restricted by a tv budget and can be as chaotic as I like and I know for a fact that Donnie, Naomi, and the Borg kids would get up to some major hijinks.
Voyager is in orbit of a friendly planet for some trade and refueling, and the kids are allowed down planet side, and Sam and Seven (and idk Tuvok maybe) think to themselves, “alright Donatello and Icheb, you’re both old enough and presumably responsible enough where you can both be in charge of the little ones on your own for the afternoon. Feel free to wander around but meet back at a specific place by 1500 okay?” And at the end of the day the group shows up at the rendezvous point 15 minutes late, covered in mud, two of them are wearing different clothes than they were that morning and Icheb is missing his shoes. No they will not elaborate on what happened.
There’s definitely probably a few instances of the kids attempting to sneak various live animals/creatures from different planets back onto the ship but they’re all really bad at lying about it so they always get caught (though Donatello will attest that he had nothing to do with Mezoti’s plan to bring an entire storage container with a hive of alien bees back onto the ship, she was a rogue agent on that one)
Then of course as kids will do they do also mess around with each other quite a bit. I just imagine Mezoti coming up to Donnie like, “here I got something for you!” And when he puts out his hand she drops a spider in his palm and runs (later she finds that somehow all her stuff has been turned purple. Even her regeneration chamber and she has no idea how the heck he did that it’s literally JUST hers)
Donnie calls out to one of the twins, “Hey Azan!” “I’m Rebi.” “Apologies” *later* “Hey Rebi!” “I’m Azan.” *Donnie squints* “… No you aren’t” and it goes on like that throughout the day until the twins get tired of the bit
Then there’s the fact that all of these kids have grown up in relative isolation for most of their lives (or in the case of the borg kids, they don’t remember enough of their childhood so they’re basically starting with a clean slate) and their only other reference point for how kids socialize and interact with each other is this small group of kids who all also have no idea what that looks like so they collectively develop a very weird/unique sense of humor and way of addressing each other that just….. sounds like a foreign language to all the adults on the ship. It does not help that Donnie keeps teaching them gen Z slang. Tom Paris is the only one on the crew who kinda (just barely) understands what the hell it is these kids are saying and the rest of the crew is just left scratching their heads.
I just think they could have a lot of fun being very silly together :)

Picard
Tumblr media
This show sucks.
I looked up the Romulan villains last night because the woman keeps calling the man her brother, but she also acts jealous of the android lady he's seducing for information. Also she choked him in the previous episode, and in a pretty kinky sort of way. "They can't really be siblings," I thought to myself. I must have misheard, or it's some term of endearment in Romulan double-secret police parlance. Nope, they're blood relatives! The show is just pushing the envelope in the hackiest ways imaginable.
For example, this episode has a cameo from Icheb, the lovable Borg teen from the tail end of Star Trek: Voyager. Icheb wasn't my favorite character on the show, but he was a pretty good dude. Picard Season 1 Episode 5 opens with Icheb getting his eye yanked out by a bad guy! They show it and everything! Then Seven of Nine shows up to rescue him, but she has to shoot him to put him out of his misery! It's so fucking edgy! This ain't your daddy's Star Trek, fanboy!
So now Seven is a gun-toting vigilante! No seriously, they even use the word "vigilante" in the show! Several times! Picard expresses admiration for her goals and motives, but is disapproving of her extreme methods. "Gotham City is different from Metropolis," Seven tells Picard. I should also point out that every phaser in this show looks like a dumb 90's comic book gun, so Seven looks even more like a parody when she tricks Picard and goes back down to the planet to complete her bloody mission of revenge. The joke is supposed to be Picard's cheesy disguise, which involves him wearing an eyepatch and talking with an absurd French accent, but no. Punisher Seven of Nine makes everything else pale by comparison.
You know what I liked? The time Seven wore a blue Starfleet uniform in an episode of Voyager.
Tumblr media
I feel like there might have been a second episode where she rocked this look in a holodeck simulation or something, but the one I'm thinking of had her get recruited by the timeship Relativity to rescue Voyager from a chroniton explosion or something. They send her to infiltrate Voyager on its first day of service, so she has to wear the uniform to keep a low profile. But I like the look a lot, because I'm a scientist and I have a certain sentimental attachment to the science blue uniforms. I know Seven wore a goofy catsuit most of the time to make the show sexier, but this is easily the character's hottest look. It hints at a possible happy ending for the character, where she regained more of her humanity and became a Starfleet officer like her Voyager pals. And of course she's a blueshirt because she's a science queen all the way. I see Blue Shirt Seven and immediately understand why everyone had a crush on Spock in the 60s.
But no, Picard took the character in a different direction and turned her into a brooding loner who doesn't play by the rules. And you know, I like this sort of fare. I maintain Larry Hama's run on Wolverine is an underrated classic. All this shady stuff with big guns and revenge and eye-yanking and scenery-chewing? That's fine... until you try to put it in friggin' Star Trek, where it just ends up looking dumb as fuck. It's like putting Wolverine in the skants from TNG Season 1. Sure, he's got the legs for it, but it's just not his style, bub.
I'd like to give this episode some credit for not cutting away to more scenes aboard the Borg Reclamation Cube or whatever they call it, because I have no fucking idea what the point of that place is or why I'm supposed to care about what goes on there. Except I'm pretty sure this is just a temporary reprieve before we go back there in the next episode, which is sure to piss me off even more. You can't win with this show. Everyone's miserable all the time and everywhere they go looks like a dump.

I'm not finalising this, but I'm imagining Monster Mash AU Voyager finding and rescuing Prodigy's lil guys, and they're friends with Naomi, Mezoti, and Icheb.
They follow Janeway and Seven around like ducklings.

it's time for a...start trek update?? yeah man. look, i have nothing to say except we continued to watch two episodes a night through dragon age coming out and i am nothing if not a dragon age fan. kicking, screaming, etc. so we finished voyager, and i do still want to write down the impressions i had of each episode for posterity's sake. also because we're due to start enterprise soon and if i don't do this now i never will. yes, i am doing a season and a half in one post. 42 fucking episodes. here' is your courtesy cut:
fair haven:
absolutely fucking awful. 0 stars
we spend SO much time talking about how holograms are real and then we watch janeway program one to be her sex toy and i'm supposed to find it charming and funny? "computer, delete the wife." imagine if you loved someone and married them and wanted to spend the rest of your life with them but someone came along and deleted their existence including any memories or evidence of your time together and then also made you smarter and a little taller all so you could act as a glorified dildo. this was such a bad look for her
also, if i wanted to watch a show about shenanigans in some lame ass irish town i'd have turned on outlander, wouldn't i
blink of an eye:
got REAL worried about this one at first because of how the "primitive" culture was protrayed but actually blew my tits clean off
like, the story of the little guy from that planet was so fucking compelling. everyone he knew aged to death in and instant and all he could do was save his planet and he DID and everyone got away and they'll never see each other again because time itself is warped. fucking insane. the best of voyager right after the worst of it
virtuoso:
i sure do get tired of episodes that make the emh look like an ass for wanting stuff, so i was really :/ at this one at first
i did really enjoy the argument between him and janeway where janeway was like and NOW which one of us is looking at you as a piece of technology?! there was something so frank and honest about it, idk how to describe it, like...i think it's so fascinating that she definitely still sees him as a machine but also cares about this machine's wellbeing as though it were alive
like the emh was a bitch to seven so he deserved janeway yelling at him but at the same time...why do we always have to make episodes about him wanting to expand himself and then add "but he was an asshole about it!" at the end to justify him not doing that
memorial:
had my doubts about this one at first too bc tom paris did NOT show b'elanna the proper gratitude for that tv set which then maybe turned out to be haunted?? like it was a bad opening scene and then tom also yelled at her later for trying to help like boy shut the fuck up
the rest of it though. mwah. everyone was acting the hell out of it. chakotay was doing especially well. i don't remember but i feel like they let him fuck with his hair in this one and i love when they do that
fav part was when janeway was like "they'll understand!" and this other person was like "no, they won't." that's literally how it is with war crimes. ugh it was SO good it absolutely slayed
janeway fixing the memorial itself bold move mwah ten out of ten. also, it looks like that thing from the really racist amnesia episode from tos
tsunkatse:
LOVE A FIGHT RING EPISODE. wish tuvok had gotten to fight more but still love a fight ring episode
was pleased we figured out the plot twist by the end
emh getting jealous seven had a date with tuvok and then getting less jealous once he realized it would be boring was really funny
AUGH. tuvok comforting seven at the end. they are so important
collective:
DEEPLY shocked to learn that these borg children were sticking around
i did recognize the name icheb though! ik it's some character in picard. so i guess he comes back! nice.
whatever happened to that borg infant, i wonder
also wtf at us once again discussing borg genocide...you guys we can't do that starfleet doesn't do that what is wrong with everybody
spirit folk:
WHY DID WE NEED A SECOND EPISODE ABOUT THIS BULLSHIT FUCKING TOWN I HATE THE HOLODECK
ashes to ashes:
JENSEN ACKLES EXPANDED UNIVERSE hell kim rhodes
it was bothering me so bad. i'm so pleased i finally got it on my own
anyway this was Nuts. like, Upsetting. jesus christ
also can we please give harry kim a cool thing to do that doesn't involve a woman. just one time. he was so good when he was old
child's play:
THIS WAS SOOOO GOOD
this was like that episode of tng where they had to decide where to leave the kid and when they left him with his kidnappers i felt fucking ill
except BETTER like this had more nuance it slayed more
and it's fucking bonkers that like icheb could have gone home but he can't because there is no home for him his whole purpose is to destroy borg
and he's gonna go to a planet thousands of lightyears away and never see home again. like either way he has to NEVER see someone again. sometimes if i stop and try to comprehend the massive distance in voyager it makes me crazy
also like. lets fucking get into it re sevens parents. they were TERRIBLE parents. she literally left her father to a fate worse than death and didnt tell ANYONE. when people are like but seven your family and she is like PUH LEASE. she is so correct
anyway im deeply glad seven's feelings were validated and she got to keep her baby :(
good shepherd:
the lower decks of voyager...i absolutely loved this one
fav is the bajoran? i think? who is literally so bad at her job. it's been a minute vbut at one point she counted down something and nothing happened until a second later it was HILARIOUS i was rolling
the loner being lonely because he's an ass and realizing whoops he wants friends was also good...they really brought me around to him
live fast and prosper:
had a good time laughing it up at these bozos but my favorite part by far was when janeway asked tuvok to do improv and he nearly blew the whole operation <3
also, this is just like that episode of fullmetal alchemist 03 with the psiren. if you don't know google it
muse:
this one was not the worst voyager episode i've ever watched but it was still pretty fucking stupid
b'elanna was hot sort of controlling that guy by doling out stories and in theory the idea that art would stop a war is pretty cool. i liked the end better than the start. but overall Not Great
fury:
absolutely GOBSMACKED to see kes again. thats fucking crazy
real glad neelix wasn't weird about it. he turned into the guy he was in my head after kes left. not that i didn't like kes! i genuinely did. her relationship w the emh especially. but man
the premise of this honestly made no fucking sense but i'm glad she does get a happy ending to her life 🥺🥺🥺
life line:
the version of this episode that didn't have barclay and deanna in it was a MUCH better episode
unfortunately, there they were, in all their tng glory, and there barclay was, continuing to be horribly sexist to and imappropriate with deanna. so like i don't care
wait sorry i take it back i do care that in this episode someone at starfleet asked about the status of the maqui and janeway was like :o i totally forgot i had maquis aboard! you're all MY crew we're not maqui and starfleet anymore! and chakotay was like girl maybe you forgot but we didn't and then i decided that he was probably going to get executed when they got back to earth. "but starfleet doesn't execute people" don't worry about it. janeway's dangerous rogue of a husband.....hes a condemned man..........
the haunting of deck twelve:
this one wasn't my fav but i really enjoyed that janeway was essentially at odds with her own ship. it's really similar to the tas where the ship kept like pranking them except it's serious? it was a fun concept
and likle i do love seeing her having fucking HAD IT you know and then being really angry and badass. it's hot.
i also like that it's a classic trek blunder - they fucked with something alive but it was so alien to them they didn't realize it was alive and they had to grit their teeth and solve it diplomatically even when that was annoying. very tos of them
unimatrix zero i & ii:
CAN WE STOP HAVING SEVEN KISS MEN
also, look. i love sveen of nine but this is not how any of this works. NONE of the borg stuff works like this. the way tng presented the borg was so cool and so scary and a rare W for tng. while seven of nine is leaps and bounds better than ANYONE on tng, the way they've altered the borg lore on voy is very dumb and stupid
i remember janeway being kind of annoying about whatever ethical dilemma was going on...i don't remember what it was but girl get a grip
borg queen hot though
also, klingon named korok. hi bestie
imperfection:
seven is SO GOOD and everyone loves her SO MUCH
like, janeway doing this dangerous thing, neelix goading her into kadis-kot, icheb willing to donate a kidney. she is loved!!
and i love how prickly she is when she's sick and dying. she's just like worf, she doesn't wanna see anyone, but waahhh they were all so niceys to her and she got to lean on them just a little!!!
i just love seven of nine episodes. i love when she gets to be complex!!! we haven't been finished with voyager long and i already miss her
drive:
this one was awful. tom paris is such a bad boyfriendhusband whatever. that one time when he didn't fuck b'elanna was so so so special to me but he has GOTTTT to do better
proposal could have been romantic if he wasn't ALWAYS IGNORING HER NEEDS. sir.........
character named assan in this. hiii bestie
since he hates his dad he should have become tom torres, also
repression:
oh this one was so hot. love tuvok. love to see that guy in situations and also trying to kill people
the gambit where he shot janeway, or didn't shoot her. HOT.
love also the revival of the starfleet vs maqui drama. everybodys like oh its settled dw about it! but it's always so easy to stir back up. if you'd left them in the delta qudrant another 7 years, another 70, it would always be this easy to stir back up. and i just think that is so fun
critical care:
a good emh episode!!! i like the ones where they dont make him look like an asshole. like yeah his plan was always doomed but he is a DOCTOR and he has to try and also he is being treated as property again. augh augh augh
like, he's literally accruing trauma points. the whole thing was so well-written and evil. yum
inside man:
almost blacked out with rage during this one
i HATE barclay. they do the thing where they write everybody liking him even though he is so utterly fucking unlikable it makes them all look so stupid
and in this episode in particular hes saving them or whatever so theyre all lining up to suck his dick instead of like. believing the doctor. the doctor who theyve traveled with for 7 years. hello???
i cant believe the real barclay got to waste all that transmission space on a hologram OF HIMSELLF like KEEP HIM AWAY FROM HOLO STUFF he is an ADDICT and further more how fucking self centered and self involved. jesus christ
body and soul:
i would have liked this one a LOT better if there weren't so much stuff going on at seven's expense
like the first time he was in her body and ate too much or drank too much or whatever because he was being thoughtless, and she, feeling used, chastised him - mwah. good shit. he's in love with her, he felt terrible, he agreed not to do it again
...and then he did it again, not because he had to, or even because he forgot, but just because he wanted to and the temptation was too much. like seven of nine out of everybody on this whole cast hasn't has her bodily autonomy violated enough??? eugh
AND THEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN PLAY IT SERIOUSLY. they played it for laughs. somewhere in there is a serious episode where he punched that alien for kissing seven without asking and then realized he did exactly the same thing by getting drunk without asking or whatever and they became closer as a result. unfortunately, this was not that episode
nightingale:
"harry kim's first command" is like disney's first gay character. it keeps happening over and over and it will never stop
also, he was being stupid the entire time
also, i hated whatever this side plot with icheb and b'elanna was. it simply just was not funny until like MAYBE the last second where she nobly agrees to stop seeing him and then makes the wtf sarcasm face
all in all a rough watch
flesh and blood i & ii:
to be completely honest the ending of this one annoyed me a little bit like...obviously it is bad to hunt holograms for sport when holograms are alive, just like it's bad to make sex dolls out of them. but when you go "oh but they want to KILL ALL ORGANICS" you simplify the issue. it doesn't matter what they're doing or why anymore, because they're trying to commit genocide, so they have to be stopped. easy.
like, you undermine the difficulty of pacifism, one of trek's ideals, when you make pacifism the only option for survival because otherwise voyager will shoot you or whatever
it's also another case of it being perfectly reasonable for hologgrams to be unhappy with their lot in life but since theyre acting unreasonably that makes it ok to maintain the status quo! and they wasted a two-parter on this?? jesus.
shattered:
this was SO FUN i love flashbacks i love time travel i love that janeway had to trust a chakotay she hadn't married i mean met yet. you know.
REALLY fun getting to see seska again also. chakotay juuust can't shake her and i enjoy that more than i should <3
wahhh and grown up naomi wildman...please...
anyway 10/10 it didn't make one god damn bit of sense but idc bc i had an absolute blast
lineage:
tbh episodes of all time. it's one of those things that truly, deeply makes me wish tom was a better and more attentive husband instead of some guy who likes to fuck off and play with cars or the holodeck or whatever. the kind of guy who didn't fuck b'elanna that one time
like the pregnancy was a bit sudden yeah but the melodrama here, despite being a bit overblown and definitely predictable, was SO good. roxann dawson acting her heart out. the flashbacks to her childhood!!! like it's so understandable that this blindsides her and that it hits SO HARD
and then you have the ethical debate of who decides what should happen to the fetus? the mother, or both parents? your instinct is to say well it's the mom's body and baby but then you KNOW b'elanna is doing it for unhealthy reasons that she will regret once she has time to heal and it's like aghghghg. ethical debate time.
repentance:
this one was soooo fun
like a love a good analogy...this was definitely about prison reform and inmate rights and since i feel strongly about that i had a great time
the ending felt a little off to me - neelix condemning this guy for playing the race card - bc like, look at these conditions. what wouldn't you do to get out of a situation like that?
other than that though 10/10. bonus for like. the seven of nine content where she's like WHY IS NO ONE PUNISHING ME girl you had no choice 😭 i wish somebody had told her she had no choice!!!
prophecy:
this one was mostly a good time. i loved getting to see b'elanna get in touch with her own culture in a way that seemed healing to her wah
i also loved the ending where the doctor almost blew it by wanting to take credit for the cure
neelix finally getting some was FUCKING hilarious. you go dude. save harry kim from yet another romantic disaster
the void:
got really excited about this one because there was an episode of the animated series with this EXACT and i mean EXACT PREMISE. i love references to TAS because it means i didn't totally waste my time watching it
janeway was really good in this too. she said goddammit i am NOT going to behave like an animal and then she didn't. cooperation won the day. THAT'S sticking to starfleet ideals even when it's tough without it feeling short-sighted or stupid
workforce i & ii:
YOOOOOOO
we love a good amnesia ep firstly. this slapped
secondly, whatever she and mysterious strange chakotay had going on...mwah. her husband who she forgot about and is condemned for execution!! romance novel shit
when he was like we're more. than coworkers. so true. don't worry that he said friends. they're married
seven in this was also amazing. you can wipe her memory but you CANNOT defeat her bullshit detector!!! and her focus being of tuvok was an extra nice touch, i love their relationship and he was having suuuch a bad time
human error:
i didn't like this one bit because of holodeck shit and it's really weird that they're making seven and chakotay happen at the last goddamn minute like julian and ezri but here is the thing. i don't TOTALLY hate seven/chakotay as a concept
like, was this episode bad, yes, but the part where his finger was in her mouth and then in his mouth. they have something, or could have had something. they're both already dating janeway why not date each other a little bit for fun??
lmao at seven having like a emotional blocker or whatever though. was that this episode? i don't remember but how silly. the premise is basically seven becomes a holodeck addict like barclay. i HATE. the fucking. holodeck!!!!!!!
q2:
fuck q and fuck his shitty fucking child i hate them so much. why is it whenever they appear its suddenly all sexism jokes and seven of nine naked? it's so fucking disrespectful. i almost could have gotten invested if not for that shit
author, author:
i was really hoping this would be like measure of a man in tng, but it...wasn't. i am glad the hologram rights moved forward a little bit, but, and i hate to say this, tng did it better. i don't even like tng and i think measure of a man is one of the best episodes in the entire franchise, so this one would have had a hard time living up to it, let alone surpassing it, without copying tng's homework, but...still. i feel they could have done better
i did like the ending though where the story brought comfort to all those oppressed holograms <3
friendship one:
this WAS about the evils of colonialism specifically what happens when "explorers" accidentally give the local population the bubonic plague or whatever
idk i really liked it. like janeway almost flaked out when carey died (welcome back, rip, etc) and then she DIDN'T because of how ideals work!!! it was the right thing to do to help them even when they were lashing out and she did it!!!! it's a good story about doing the right thing even when it's hard and also about fucking reparations.
natural law:
REALLY nervous about this one at first but it actually turned out to be a great time
instead of going oooh look at these primitive people it was more like hey primitive people are still people and their cultures are just as cool and interesting as scifi ones. they're not stupid or half-developed or anything
also, it was also about colonialism being bad. hell yeah two for two
homestead:
bro this one made me sob like a baby
like, the neelix in my head existed and then went away because he was a freak to kes but then she left and slowly he became real. and he was so good and i wanted everybody to treat him really niceys
AND TUVOK DANCED FOR HIM
i still think where he ended up seems like a wretched place to live but if he's happy and close enough for video calls i can deal with it...it would have been kinda sad for him to be the only talaxian on earth
i also like that janeway gave him such a gracious and dignified out by making it an ambassador thing...she didn't have to do that but she DID
renaissance man:
okay firstly what a weird penultimate episode but secondly what a fucking riot
i am SO pleased i realized janeway was the emh before they revealed it i was thrilled to guess it early
the more people he had to replace the funnier it got. forget batman and bruce wayne, have you ever seen janeway and b'elanna and chakotay in the same room at the same time??
speaking of b'elanna, the tom paris/emh kiss. 10/10. something so lgbt is happening on star trek voyager. incredible
endgame:
THAT'S IT????
let me rewind.
sorry. that's IT???
what a choice to have this set in the alternate future where it took them 30 years to get home, first of all. also, to have chakotay DEAD (because he'd been summarily executed, dw about it). big ot3 moment where janeway was likle standing over his grave or whatever, although having seven try to break up with chakotay because she might die was silly
neelix on the video call made me well up again!!
tuvok my bestie...it was so hard to see him so sick like OBVIOUSLY janeway is gonna go back in time to fix him. i genuinely love their relationship so muchit is so special to me
janeway on janeway action was great. their conversations with and understanding of one another. mwah
however i didn't reallly...understand? how they got home? like i thought they said the nearest exit leads back to the deltra quadrant and suddenly theyre popping out at home? like it doesn't really matter because they were jsut like LOL OK BYE but what the fuck??
it was a fun episode, but it felt more like a season finale than a series finale. we didn't have any goodbyes the way we did in ds9 or even tng. not goodbyes between characters, but between the audience and the characters. memorable final scenes, if that makes any sense - hints about the future, which is insane considering it's a time travel episode. idk. it was just so weird
NEXT TIME?? well we have already done tng movie #3 and the first episode of ENT so those posts will be next. goodbye voyager i miss you already 😭

chapter 8
Charlotte had settled into her role on The Essex, she reported to the Chief Tactical Officer and had been able to attend trade talks with the people of the Q'nar sector. She still felt nervous when speaking to Captain Abioye and had promised heself she would speak up in the next meeting. She had a full day off and was just settling down with her latest must read - 'Multiphasic Shield Harmonics' when she saw a message flash on her Padd summoning her to the holodeck.
Seven of Nine had set up a programme running a simulation of her Aunt's lake house in Denmark, she hadn't stayed true to geography and had programmed the Copenhagen waterfront to be a ten kilometre hike away and she enjoyed sitting in her favourite restaurant with a cold beer after the long hike. She was so lost in thought she didn't notice the young woman stood in front of her, "Commander you summoned me?".
"It's ok Lottie, we're off duty now. Don't be so stiff, sit, woukd you like a lemonade?" Seven studied the Ensign before her. It occured to her how strange it was that humans take 18 whole years to reach maturity yet the past 21 years of watching the pudgy baby transform into an independent, challenging woman in what seemed to be the blink of an eye. "I'll get straight to the point seeing as small talk seems perfunctury given our relationship. I'm worried about you, you're putting far too much pressure on yourself, you're working too long past your ships and with your brother still missing I'm concerned for your mental wellbeing. I will put you on medical leave should the situation require it". She watched the blue eyes before her cloud into a grey storm "I can't let that happen to you, I've watched you grow up from day 1, hell I've grown and learned alongside you, so you see, I'm not just a concerned commander, this is personal"
Charlotte fought back the tears threatening to fall "oh Aunty Seven, I'm sorry, I just feel like I can't concentrate and then my work is sub par. This is supposed to be everything I've wanted and I just feel so flat, everytime I start to feel happy I remember Amal is still out there"
Seven placed her hand over Charlotte's "I know how you feel, when Icheb died I felt real loss for the first time and it scared me, having feelings I couldn't control, me of all people!" She smiled. "You know you're not just a god-daughter to me, you're my sister, in those early days back on earth when I couldn't face the reality of my Aunt and cousins, When Kathryn let me stay with her as long as I needed, the camp bed in your nursery. And you crying allllll night, I still maintain Borg children are much less terrifying. I remember when I took you to the funfair and you broke your arm climbing the helter skelter, I was terrified to bring you home, not just for your mother's reaction but because I had allowed pain to come to the thing that is most precious to me"
Charlotte smiled "I do remember that camp bed coming out a lot of times over the years, making you scare me with stories of dangerous alien races. I'm glad we shared that. Wasn't it ever a bit weird though? You know you and Dad?"
Seven had to surpress a laugh, "not at all, once we were back on earth I realised I respected and admired your father but didn't want to continue our dates. It did take me a while to realise the main reason that I didn't want to continue our dates was that he was entirely the wrong sex. I wish I had figured that out a little sooner" she smiled. "I often wonder what life was like for the other me, was I happy with your Dad? Probably, was I fulfilled? Probably not, I imagine it remained entirely platonic, bound together by the pain your mother had inadvertently caused us and then by the trauma of your loss. Your Mom used to be a lot less burdened you know."
charlotte sighed "I'm starting to see a little of it now. Dad said I should contact my Animal Guide but more and more I find myself in prayer. It's stupid right? I'm a scientist, our family barely observes the traditional holidays, logically it's nothing more than meditation but I keep coming back to it. Can you believe it, talking to a God who doesn't exist? Pretty irrelevant huh?"
Seven leaned closer to Charlotte "the Borg find religion a futile attempt by inferior beings to understand their own small singular existence... but they feel the same way about love too"
Before Charlotte could respond the holodeck timer went off. "Our time has ended. See you on the gamma shift Ensign".
*****
After their talk Charlotte didn't see much of the Commander. She did manage to speak up some ideas to Capatin Abioye, but she couldn't read whether his stern expression conveyed annoyance or praise. At her station she went through official communiques and logged them. There were some strange messages that seemed to be mangled and she saved them to her Padd to analyse later.
Today had been a long day of back and forth with the Q'nar Trevel who were suspicious of all outside races. A large ship had materlialised out of nowhere and struck a direct hit, the ship was on red alert. Charlotte performed sweeps of the region and saw a smaller ship approaching at speed. No sooner had she alerted the Captain when two aliens beamed on board, the pilot was shot immediately and the alien lifted his weapon at the Captain. Without a hesitstion Seven threw herself in the line of fire and Charlotte tackled him to the floor, two burly security officers grabbed the alien and cuffed his hands. "Commander, are you ok?" Charlotte could see Seven bleeding.
"We must restrain the other alien" Seven shouted. The alien had pushed into the turbolift and was heading to engineering. Quickly Charlotte disabled all the turbolifts and headed for a jefferies tube to intercept him with Seven hobbling behind her.
The tubes smelled of smoke and burning gel packs as the Essex was pummelled, Seven's superior eyesight led the way and Charlotte hoped they would make it before the bleeding got worse. The panel into engineering was jammed in place and it took both women to kick it open. The alien was attaching small explosoves to the warp core. Charlotte grabbed a phaser and aimed, she had practised a lot at The Academy and knew she needed to hit the alien's hand before he set them off. As the alien lifted his arm to detonate the charges Charlotte aimed and blew it clean off, Seven checked the wounded, and opened the main doors allowing the security team to run in and apprehend the alien. She felt the impulse engines kicking in and hoped they could get far enough through the system to avoid another attack. Relief flooded her as she saw the lights change from red to yellow and she hurried to Seven to request a beam to sickbay.

i mean technically she was never with starfleet in the first place so it wasn't really a rejoining. This was her finally getting what she was trying to get for 20 years, getting something that they gave Icheb but not her.
And I feel part of accepting the commission was because of Raffi. Because they had already tried the whole 'long distance i'm fenris and ur starfleet' thing and apparently that strained their whole relationship lol She already accepted not being in starfleet when she joined fenris. it's why her relationship with Janeway is so strained. I want to see the capt seven centered show and watch her having to adjust to how SF does things compared to Fenris. we never got it when she was a commander. And being a full captain of a starfleet vessel is different from being in the command chain but NOT actually capt.
One of my other wishlists is for Harry and B'Elanna to pop up. Harry was meant to at the end when Seven took over the Enterprise. But I need to see where B'Elanna has gone. Is SHE still Starfleet? Because right now the comics (ST Defiant) are only a short time after returning to Alpha and she IS but she's still a goddamn lieutenant and I can't imagine B'Elanna Torres being fine with that. We've seen her rant about how 'to Starfleet I'm still Maquis trash' and you want me to believe she isn't one millisecond from quitting the whole time? Is she bitter that both Harry and Seven hit Captain but she's still a lowly Lieutenant? Because remember, Harry was Ensign all 7 years she knew him in Delta. And Seven was never part of the chain of command.
Starfleet did Seven, Harry, AND B'Elanna dirty and I need to see the fallout on screen.

I don't think Seven of Nine should have rejoined Starfleet, let alone become captain of the Enterprise. It doesn't strike me as the right path for her. Picard S3 should have ended with her accepting that her future was outside of Starfleet and making peace with it.

I'd really love a story where the Voyager-era bridge crew through time travel hijinx gets to meet Captain Seven and her crew aboard the Enterprise.
The whiplash from the Voyager bridge crew meeting Captain Seven of Nine would be great, especially since Voyager-era!Seven is still learning to be Human.
(Even more fun would be the Voyager crew somehow flashing first to Fenris Ranger era!Seven before ending up crossing paths with Captain Seven).
I'd love for Captain Seven to express her gratitude to Janeway for helping her become the person we know today.
Prime Directive, especially, Temporal Prime Directive, would require Seven to keep quiet about her present. But god, the first time Captain Seven spots Icheb would be heartbreaking.
I think Raffi would get a kick-meeting Voyager-era!Seven, and maybe she gets to needle an unaware Voyager-era!Seven about her commitment issues.
Voyager-era!Seven would be confused, Captain Seven would try to change the subject.
*should Voyager-era!Seven interact with Captain Seven? I don't know.
This is one of the few times that Chakotay's not around, much to Captain Seven's relief.
TLDR everyone works together to fix the problem.
Anyway, that's as far as my imagination would allow.
I'm just a sucker for past!character/s meets present/future!characters. It's a trope I've always loved.

Imagine Icheb having a puppy-dog crush on you.
“I believe I may have contracted some sort of virus,” Icheb sat on the biobed while the EMH waved his scanner over him. “I frequently experience heart palpitations, difficulty concentrating, tightness in my chest and throat-”
“I’m not detecting any viruses,” the Doctor interrupted calmly.
“Then why do I feel this way?” Icheb asked, an edge to his voice. “I am unable to function at my full capacity.”
The Doctor arched a brow, “Do your symptoms get worse in any particular circumstances?”
Icheb pressed his lips together. His answer was reluctant, “Could I be having an allergic reaction of some sort?”
“Anything or anyone in particular come to mind?” the Doctor probed.
Icheb hesitated. When he spoke, he mumbled out the words so they were barely audible. “[f/n].”
The Doctor’s smile turned to amusement. “Oh, I should have known.” He held up the tricorder, “You’ve got butterflies in there.”
Icheb’s frown deepened, “I never assimilated butterflies.”
“It’s a figure of speech, Icheb,” the Doctor reassured. “It simply means you have a crush.”

Choosing Between Icheb and Q Junior
Yooo could you do like an imagine or whatever about being in a polyamorous relationship with icheb and q junior
Requested by: anon
Notes: I changed it a bit, making it so the reader is in love with both and they can't really choose between the two of them. I hope that's okay
I'm sorry this is a little late, but I'd tried to compensate!
Icheb and Q Junior: the only two choices you had. People would think it would be easy to choose between the because they have such different personalities, but for you that fact just made it more difficult. And knowing that both of them liked you put even more pressure on you.
Q Junior: even though he can be a pain in the ass sometimes, when he was around you, he always tried to be sweet. He always brough you cute gifts and he sure knew how to make you happy. As childish as he was, he could always make you laugh. But you knew that Q wouldn't let him stay on Voyager forever, so the question remained: what would happen if he got his power back? Wouldn't you a just a simple mortal for him? Do you mean enough to him to somehow stay with him when his father gave his powers back to him? And knowing him and his mood swings, you weren't sure about it.
Icheb: he is so smart and sweet. When you were with him, you were calmer than ever. He always tried to help you with any work you had and the fact that he didn't do anything special to express his love for you was the best. You enjoyed how he just invited you to dinner or to the cargo bay to hang out. But you knew that he had to face the decision someday: would he like to go to the Alpha Quadrant with Voyager or would he like to return to his people? Do you mean enough to him so that he would choose to stay on Voyager?
The thought that you could potentially lose both of them scared you.
You were thinking about this as you walked down the hallway until Q Junior walked beside you.
"What are you thinking about?" He wrapped one of his arms around you shoulders.
"Oh, nothing important." You kept staring at the the floor.
"Come on," He insisted. "You're clearly thinking about something and it's bothering you."
"I don't want to talk about it." You grabbed his arm so you could stop him from walking. "Listen, help me forget about it, do you have some time to hang around?"
"Sure, I always have time for you." He put his hand on you cheek and started rubbing it with his thumb.
Later, after cuddling for about an hour with him, you finally decided it would be good for you to go back to work on your project. Even though him laying in bed with him, with your head on his chest and his arms wrapped around you was the best feeling, you somehow conviced yourself to get up.
"Do you want to come to dinner with me later?" He asked.
"I'm sorry, I've already promised Icheb that I would go with him." As you said this, Q's smile turned into a frown and he was visibly jealous. "Don't tell me you're jealous!" You giggled."As far as I know, I'm not your girlfriend and I'm not his either."
"I ... am jealous.... cause I want you to be with me." He said shyly. Next thing you knew, he leaned in for a kiss. Heat rushed in your cheeks as you kissed him back.
Dinner with Icheb went really well. You managed to make him smile by just laughing and he said he just think your laugh is cute. He held your hand and he only let go of it after he walked back to your quarters with you.
"Thank you for tonight, Icheb, it was really sweet of you." You blushed as you looked into his eyes.
"You deserve it." He said softly. " You've been working a lot lately. Besides, you haven't spent much time with me. You've been with Q Junior more."
"What's wrong with that?" You teased him. "Is that jealousy I hear?"
He stood silent for few seconds, then he leaned in to kiss you. It was more of a peck, but you knew this is just how Icheb does things.
"I just like spending time with you." was his farewell.
When you fell into your bed your initial though came back to you: teenage love is complicated.

Icheb imagine - you’re shy
Requested? Yes, by an anon Word count? 576 Warnings? None
You sipped your tea as your eyes scanned over the PADD which contained your current lesson. After Voyager had found an old Earth vessel stranded on a planet, they rescued you and welcomed you onto the ship. Being shy to begin with, you hadn’t been able to really open up to anyone on the ship yet. It was hard to make friends when A) you didn’t know anybody, and B) you were younger than all of the crew, except for Naomi Wildman and the borg children. The only person that really took it upon themselves to talk to you regularly was Neelix, but that was because he adored children and was the ship’s morale officer.
“Is this seat taken?” a voice asked you.
You reluctantly looked up, seeing Icheb standing a mere two feet from you. “Uh, no, it’s not.”
He frowned slightly. “Mind if I sit with you?”
You shook your head and motioned towards the chair. You put the PADD down to make yourself seem more open and sociable.
He sat and looked at your PADD. “What are you reading?”
“An assignment Commander Chakotay gave me. It’s about the physics of a star ship.”
He nodded. “I quite enjoyed that topic. If you wish, I could help you with it.”
You smiled shyly. “Thanks. I’ll let you know if I need any help.”
Icheb was silent for a few moments, then said, “I can leave if I’m distracting you from your studies.”
“No, I don’t mind,” you said, blushing. “I could use the company. To be honest, it’s been kind of lonely being one of the only people my age on the whole ship.”
“That’s understandable. When I first came on board, I had the other children to keep me company. Seven of Nine was also a big help.”
You nodded, feeling yourself growing a bit more comfortable around him. It was nice to talk to him. “That must have been even harder for you.”
“Why do you say that?” he asked.
“Well . . . you were borg,” you said, then quickly added, “Sorry. You probably don’t want to talk about that stuff.”
Icheb shook his head. “It doesn’t bother me discussing my past. But, you might be right I was used to being with others every second of every day.”
“I don’t mean to sound rude, but why are you sitting here?” you asked softly. “I’m not really the most approachable person.”
“I know,” he said. “That’s why I came over. Seven of Nine told me I should try to talk to you since you tend to keep to yourself. She said it would be a good idea for me to make another friend, and for you to make one.”
“Oh.” You bit your lip. Of course he was only there because Seven of Nine had sort of ordered him to be.
“And I . . . I think you’re cute,” he said slowly, looking down at the table.
Your cheeks burned and you looked up at him. You then realized that he too was shy, or just awkward due to his past. You smiled. “Thank you. That’s very sweet of you to say. You’re not too bad, either.”
He met your gaze, smiling slightly. “If you’d like, we could hang out again sometime. Maybe . . . maybe on the holodeck or something?”
Your smile widened. “I’d love that.”
Icheb said, “I’m glad I sat here with you.”
“I am, too.”

Request: Q and Icheb Duel Over You
Tumblr media
You watched in horror as your two best friends faced off in the cargo bay. The two of them stared daggers at each other, and looked as though they wanted to tear each others’ faces off. And all for the most inhumanly ridiculous reason. Then again, one of them was Q, and another was formerly Borg, so inhumanly wasn’t too far of a stretch.
“So the terms are settled.” Icheb declared. “We fight for control of the known universe... and (Y/N)’s affections.”
Junior nodded, a demonic grin on his face. “I mean, I already have control of the known universe, so it won’t be easy, Itchy.”
“Please, stop! Both of you!” you yelled. “And Q, don’t call him ‘Itchy’. It’s rude.”
“We’re just trying to make this easier for you, (Y/N).” Junior said unhelpfully.
You groaned, but didn’t leave. As a child of one of the crew members, when you reached fifteen, you began training as an honourary Starfleet cadet. You decided to go into Starfleet Medical, so you’d be able to patch up your crew after they got hurt. You had a feeling that someone would get hurt.
“You choose the means with which we fight.” Icheb said solemnly.
“Very well.” Junior replied. “I choose... pillows.”
He snapped his fingers, and two pillows appeared in their hands. With a warrior’s cry, Junior leapt forward, swatting Icheb with his weapon. Icheb laughed and hit him back. The two swung mercilessly, hitting each other over the head with the pillows. You couldn’t help but smile when a third pillow appeared in your hand.
“Prepare for ignominious defeat!” Icheb declared, as he crept up on Junior. Just then, you nailed him in the back, and he stumbled forward, knocking Q over. You stood over them, prepared to make the ‘killing blow’, when the cargo bay doors opened, and in walked Seven of Nine.
“I intend to regenerate.” Seven said to Junior and Icheb with a stony face. “I would prefer to do so without the two of you squabbling over (Y/N).”
“Yes, Seven.” Icheb muttered, putting down his pillow, and walking out with you and Junior at his heels. As soon as the doors closed behind you, you began to laugh.
“I should have known.” you said between bouts of giggles. “Pillows. Good job, guys.”
“I’ve never been more embarrassed.” Junior answered, pulling a feather out of your hair. You just smiled, putting an arm around each of their shoulders.
“Come on.” you said convivially. “I’d like to get a raktajino.”
The boys nodded, and the three of you walked to the mess hall.
