Slider: Who do you think he is, some amateur? He would never break the sound barrier on accident
Iceman: Yeah, I only ever break the sound barrier on purpose

Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus Era) - Melting the Iceman
Requested: yes
Prompt: 31) "I think I may be falling in love with you."
Warnings: none
Kimi stood looking out of his pit box at the dozens of people standing outside in the hot Bahrain sun. While it looked as though the iceman was lost in thought, while his engineer stood chatting with him, that was far from what was going through his mind. Although yes, his engineer was speaking to him, his focus was instead on the lovely Y/n, a reporter based in England that had caught his eye last season and was by far his favourite person to be interviewed by. Sometimes she could just tell he didn't want to do press and didn't push him for answers and instead faced the consequences by her employers.
Her lovely smile seemed to light up the whole paddock, moreso than any lights that lit up the track. He had it. He needed to tell her, but how? Without making it so awkward? He began walking over towards her. The camera shutters grew louder with each step he walked towards her. Dozens of people were about to capture the exact moment the Kimi Raikkonen was going to confess his love. He coughed gently, catching her attention. "Oh, sorry guys, can we cut the cameras for a quick second?" She asked the crew politely before turning her full attention back to Kimi.
"Ah, Kimi. Is there anything I can do for you?" Y/n smiled as Kimi walked up to her in his usual Lotus gear. "I think I may be falling in love with you." He blurts out. Her smile fades slightly upon his words, that worried Kimi gravely. He awaited her response but was instead faced with silence. Whilst he generally took silence we'll, this was not goinghow he expected it to....but to be fair, he didn't didn't know what to expect. "Way to be blunt." She muttered. Kimi didn't move. Maybe he couldn't. A small smile played on Y/n's lips. "I never imagined the 'Iceman' being so candid. But I appreciate the honesty." Kimi continued on. "I'm not good with words, but I want to get to know you better. So, if possible can we exchange numbers?"
Y/n chuckled, taking out her phone and handing it to the driver. "Sure, Kimi. Let's see where this goes." He smiles and begins typing in his digits, before handing the phone back and smiling. "I'll call you later, Kimi. Sound good?" Kimi nodded. "Perfect." He replied plainly. "Good luck with your show." He smiled softly. "And good luck with the weekend." Y/n smiled right back. Kimi pocketed his phone and returned to the garage. The Lotus crew looked at him confused. "Love struck?" Kimi turned to see his teammate Heikki looking at him, an amused. "Shut up." He mumbled. "So that is a yes?" Kimi shrugged. "Maybe." As Kimi walked away, he couldn't help but smile to himself. He was going to finally get to know Y/n better. Who knows? Maybe this could go further and better than he expected.

That's a Kill Part 2 || Jake "Hangman" Seresin
Summary: Y/N Kazansky. The Admiral's daughter. You always had to prove yourself to the boys. The good old boys. You never thought much of any of them, knowing you were better than them. That was until you were called back to Top Gun. You meet Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin falling for him quickly. You get selected for the infamous mission, leaving Jake terribly worried.
A/N: Longest one yet! I really enjoyed writing this one, thanks to Anon who requested! This has way less Hangman, I’m so sorry. More of an Admiral’s daughter part. Because of this I plan on doing a Part 3 to wrap it all up. This dives into the mission itself, don’t get me wrong it has cute Jake parts, just less of them. Also, apologies to Rooster… you stole his thunder. I really dislike simply rewriting parts of an already told story, but it just made sense for the plot of Part 3. That being said, the mission portion of this fic are just rewrites of what’s already in TGM changing which characters go through what. So, I didn’t do a lot of describing scenes during the actual mission. I really wanted this to focus more on the characters not the mission. There will be a Part 3 that’ll wrap everything up, meeting Ice and lots of fluff planned
Pairing: Jake “Hangman” Seresin x Y/N, Iceman x Daughter!Reader, Maverick X PlantonicFemale!Reader

Part 3
The Dagger Squad officially wrapped up training that Monday afternoon with an all-out battle between you and Mav. You were sure you were going to get the shot on him this time. You had him locked but he did some Maverick piloting shit not even you have seen from him. You lost your lock on him, you were distracted as he locked onto you, “That’s a kill, Kazansky.”
“Fuck.” You tore your mask off slowing your jet down. Wanting to slam your fists down onto the control panel but deciding against it knowing that it could send your jet out of control.
You landed before Mav. He was showboating off in the air. Typical Mav shit. You threw your helmet off leaving it behind in the cockpit. Frustrated beyond belief. You had your eyes locked on Hondo, rather pissed off at yourself for letting Maverick get the better of you again.
You blew past Bradley, nearly knocking him off balance on your quest to get the damn pushups over. So many pushups.
“Lava you alright there?” You heard Bradley ask from behind you. You were so in your own head about the kill shot you almost didn’t hear him.
You spun around on your boots seeing Rooster looking at you with a cockeye, “Yeah, I’m good.” You stuck your thumbs up like a toddler who had just been caught doing something.
“You just ran me over.” He deadpanned, not satisfied with your answer.
You sighed, “Just a little pissed off Rooster. I was this close to finally getting Mav.” You pinched your fingers together, “Locked on and all. But he literally just stopped midair, did a flip or something and locked on to me.” You balled your fists up.
Rooster laughed seeing your unmitigated frustration walking closer to you, “Well damn, I missed quite the show.”
You could feel your hands beginning to tremble. Meaning that the adrenaline that was coursing through your veins was beginning to wear off. You cursed yourself and now Rooster because these pushups were going to be 20 times harder with dead arms, “Really quite the show.” You grumbled beginning your walk over to Hondo again.
This time he stopped you, grabbing your arm, “Yes, Rooster?” You stopped turning back to him.
“What’s the matter Kazansky?”
“Why does something have to be the matter? Why can’t I just have an off day?” You fired back at him, surprising even yourself. Way too aggressive for you. Your bad mood was stemming from this mission. You were terribly nervous, too nervous for your own good. Maverick had successfully broken into your mind, freaking you the hell out. Him shooting you down for the final time this afternoon really sent your thoughts into a whirlwind. Life or death. You really didn’t want to die. You finally felt like you were really starting to get good at all of this, finally finding your groove.
“Woah, Y/N. Relax.” He stood there with his hands crossed against his chest observing you. He noticed your shaking hands and your standoffish demeanor. However, Rooster telling you to relax was doing the exact opposite of what he intended. Indeed not very relaxed. You were stressed, more stressed than you’ve ever been tenfold. You thought you knew how to cope but your mind was starting to falter. At the worst possible moment too.
Mav popped around Bradley curiously looking at the duo, “Something wrong?” His lips parted slightly waiting for one of you to speak. The situation didn’t look great from Pete’s standpoint. He landed his jet with the intention of giving you a little shit about having to do the pushups. He stated walking over seeing you not doing pushups but looking rather agitated standing in front of Rooster. Rooster looked concerned as he eyed you up and down.
“Nothing’s wrong.” You snapped at him this time. Mav took the teeniest step backwards surprised by your response. He had quite literally known you his entire life, never once seeing you snap the way you just did. He turned to Rooster sending him off with his eyes.
He placed an arm around your shoulder pulling him into you, “What’s up kid?” He asked after Rooster was out of ear shot. You let the breath of air out that you were unknowingly holding in.
“You shot me down again.” You mumbled looking to the ground. Mav decided to wave Hondo off this time letting you skip your pushups for whatever conversation was about to go down.
“Just like the other thousand times, Kazansky. What’s the big deal?” He chuckled releasing you from the shoulder hold he had you in. You felt so vulnerable under Pete’s gaze as he turned to study you. He was somebody you had grown up around, who taught you everything you knew, yet you felt incredibly nervous about it all. You felt small as he inspected you, so small.
“I had you though!” You threw your head back reliving your failure, “I had a kill, and I still didn’t get it.”
Maverick frowned, guiding you out of the hangar. You weren’t sure where the two of you were off to, but you let him lead you, “Kazansky.” He sighed as he took a seat on the outside of the hangar facing the water. He patted the dirt he was sitting next to signaling for you to join, which you did, “Talk to me kid.”
You leaned your head against the cold metal steel of the building. The cold feeling euphoric against your sweating head, “You don’t get a second chance out there Mav.”
He nodded, “I’m aware.”
You wanted to squeeze him, he wasn’t getting the turmoil you had put yourself into, “If I can’t beat you, what makes you think I’m good enough for this Pete.” You buried your head into your heads feeling your frustration building up.
“What we aren’t going to do is that.” He grabbed your wrist gently attempting to get you to look back up at him, “Remember, I need you all here Kazansky. Every bit of you.”
“I’m trying.” You looked to him, “But all I hear in my head is you repeating, ‘this is life or death’”.
“It is.” He spoke harshly. Your brain wanted to start spiraling again but he continued, “And let me tell you something Y/N. You are the only one who has completed the course successfully. You are the only one here who has done that so far. You. Just you. You are the only pilot here who has even gotten close to shooting me down. You. Just you. And you are the only God damn pilot that made me think you’d get me. You Y/N. Just you.” He pointed his finger to you, speaking right from his heart. You were sure you were going to burst out into tears hearing this from him, “Do you hear me Kazansky?” He asked.
You nodded your head up and down, “Yes sir.” You spoke with more confidence than you had all afternoon. You were honored that he said such kind things to you. But you knew he wasn’t lying or joking around in any way. He really did think those things of you.
“Y/N.” He turned his whole body to face you, “I’m going back to make my final decision with Cyclone and Warlock.” He paused waiting for you to look him in the eyes, “Can you do this Y/N?”
You had to. You were the best. You couldn’t let his words send you into such a panic. You wanted to do this. You needed to do this, “Yes Pete. I can do this.”
He nodded after abruptly standing offering his hands to pull you up. Once you were both standing he place both his hands on your shoulders, “I know you can do this Y/N. I need you to know you can.”
His confidence in you was all consuming. It lit that fire beneath your ass that was burning so brightly when you showed up. Your flame kept getting smaller and smaller after every time you’ve been struck down. Leave it to Maverick to find it again for you, “I can do this Pete.” You spoke with such confidence it drew Mav into his signature grin.
“Good. Now go get changed. I’m not saying you’re in but…” He winked at you before heading off to the war room.
You slowly made your way back to the locker room, taking your time to change. What you didn’t expect to see when you left the locker room was the blonde haired pilot that made your heart do questionable things. You about lost your mind when he smiled at you, waiting for you.
The two of you decided you wanted to take things slow, ultra-slow. Too slow in your opinion. It was more of Jake’s idea with you going along with it, not wanting to screw whatever this was up before it started. He took you to a nice dinner on Saturday. You got to put on a nice dress and wear your hair down for him, a very rare occurrence. He showered you in sweet compliments and little touches throughout the night. He stopped at your doorstep giving you a gentle kiss on your forehead. When you whined and asked him to actually kiss you he just said, “I will darling, I promise I will.” Pulling you into a hug instead. You attempted to pout your way into a kiss just making him laugh instead.
That Dagger Squad met at the Hard Deck that Sunday for one last get together negating any plans you and Jake were going to make. The two of you had to play it cool, painfully cool. You actively had to remember not to look at him smiling. Phoenix caught you looking over at him a few times shaking her head at you. The two of you made sure you were the last to leave. Getting to chat for a few before you needed to part. He again kissed you on the forehead. You decided not to fight him this time knowing Jake would do what Jake wanted to.
You were sure the tension between you and Jake on top of all the pressure from the mission was what caused you to almost break earlier. You couldn’t understand why Jake wouldn’t kiss you especially after hearing all the stories about his previous escapades. You knew it wasn’t you. He wanted to be around you, to be close to you. He put his hands on you whenever he could. On the car ride to dinner, he placed his hand on your thigh. He grabbed for your hand when you walked in making sure to constantly touch you throughout dinner. Even when he refused to come inside he was still holding onto you.
You had only confessed your feelings two days prior, yet he was driving you crazy already. These feelings were all so new and fresh for you. You finally understood what those girls were going through in college, this man was making you feral.
“Where’ve you been?” He asked softly reaching for your hand. You looked around making sure nobody could see before taking it softly. You ran your thumb over his knuckles as you studied his hand. You didn’t notice the chills that went up his arm from your touch.
“Talking with Mav.” You turned your face looking up to his. His eyes gave him away. They looked like they didn’t quite believe what you were saying. Something about the way he was squinting at you gave him away this time. You knew you were going to have to understand his eyes if you wanted to understand Jake.
“All good?” He asked as he mimicked your actions, rubbing his thumb across your knuckles this time.
“Mhmm.” You wanted to lean into him, just melt into him. But you also didn’t want to let anybody know just yet, it was all too new.
He just watched you as you found his hand fascinating. He let you divulge as much or as little information as you wanted. He found you so effortlessly beautiful. With your hair slicked back and in full military uniform you just looked so profoundly stunning to him. He wanted to cup your face getting you to look to him, but he couldn’t, not in these hallways. He knew he really shouldn’t be holding your hand either. He just couldn’t resist when he saw you come out of the locker rooms. You looked like you were battling with something in your head before your eyes landed on his. Your reaction to seeing him nearly sent him spiraling. Your face lit up when you spotted him. He knew he was a goner.
Which is exactly why he was resisting you with every ounce of strength he could find. He wanted nothing more to take you home and have his way with you. He wanted you, every single piece of you. He wanted to study you. To explore you until he had nothing left to. He also knew that you were unlike any woman he had come across. You challenged him more in the three weeks he’s known you than any other person has in his life. You would never back down a challenge, not even when the guys are ganging up on you. You would flip them the bird and move on with your day. You were also the wittiest woman he’s come across. You made it seem like he knew what he was going to say before he even said it. Don’t even get Jake started on how sweet you were. Truly, you were just a kind person. Even with the quick wittedness you still came across as nothing but kind.
He also knew how much you wanted him. It killed him to say no to you. It was endearing just how bad you wanted a kiss from him. He knew he wouldn’t be able to hold out that much longer.
“We should get to the classroom then.” He said softly.
Snapping out of your thoughts you looked up to him, “Yeah, guess it’s the moment of truth.” You bit your cheek not trying to think of the ramifications of the mission. You were sure Mav was going to pick Jake, absolutely sure of it. This sudden realization sent another wave of panic through you. You were really going to have to get this shit under control if you were going to be one of the few chosen.
He tugged your arm lightly before dropping your hand. You frowned but knew it was for the best, you never knew who was going to be walking around the corner. Once you reached the door you motioned for him to go on, “Go, I’ll wait a few before coming in.” You were being extra cautious. If there was anybody who was going to notice you two walking in together very late it’d be Phoenix. You weren’t ready from an ass-chewing from her just yet.
He nodded giving your arm a squeeze once more before heading in. You could see his demeanor change from his softer side with you to Lieutenant Jake Seresin, everybody’s pain in the ass. You waited a few more minutes before joining the rest of the Dagger Squad. You slid into the classroom as nonchalantly as you could. Phoenix met your eye questioning why you were back to much later than the rest of them. As you passed her you gave her the ‘I’ll tell you later’ look.
You slid down in a seat next to Harvard. The two of you had become quick friends after Yale’s accident. Yale was grounded a week ago due to a concussion and a broken leg after a bad ejection from the practice plane. The entire ordeal scared the living shit out of everybody in the Squadron. But he was fine, obviously upset he no longer had a shot. Yale also felt incredibly guilty after leaving Harvard high and dry. Mav started pairing Harvard with different solo fliers. Harvard seemed to click with you and Rooster the best. You enjoyed flying with Harvard, but it was a change. You were used to going solo. You enjoyed the challenge, the two of you fully taking it head on. You still secretly wanted to fly this mission alone.
“Miss Lava.” He tipped his head in your direction.
“Mr. Harvard.” You bowed back to him. Little things like that provided you comfort with your potential new air partner. Admittedly you tried avoided flying with a Wizzo as much as you could. You’d never say no to flying with one if it was needed but Mav’s past was always in your mind. Your dad told you just how bad it was for Maverick after he lost Goose in that freak training incident. So, you opted to fly solo.
“All good?” His brow lifted waiting for your response.
You smiled at him, getting tired of the question, “Oh yeah, you know how bad I am at pushups.”
He chuckled, “I see those guns, don’t lie Kazansky.”
“Shut up, Aardvark.” You rolled your eyes using the nickname you had unintentionally given him in the last week. Maverick was on your ass. You just couldn’t shake him. You had Harvard yelling in the comms getting you frazzled as you avoided getting target locked. There was so much going on you couldn’t think of his callsign for the life of you and Aardvark unfortunately came out instead of Harvard. You supposed Aardvark sounded like Harvard backwards.
He snorted, “You’re not going to drop it are you? My callsign gets a callsign now?”
You nodded leaning back into your seat hoping to catch a glimpse of Jake. He was sitting further up in the classroom next to Coyote. The pair seemed to be talking about something seriously. You brought your attention back to Harvard knowing you weren’t being very discreet, “Only for you Harvard.”
You noticed his eyes looking towards where your eyes had just left, yep you were being too obvious. He smirked eyeing you like he knew something, “Seresin hey?”
“What are you talking about Harvard?” Gaslight, gaslight, gaslight. You gave him a blank look, a slack expression.
He leaned forward giving you a small, delighted smile, “I’m not stupid Kazansky.”
“Did I say you were?” You questioned back to him, horrified how quickly he picked up on it.
“You like him.” His lips twitched into a smile as he narrowed in on you, observing your reaction.
You thanked your lucky stars that you put makeup on today, praying that it was enough to cover the tomato face you inevitably had, “Do not.”
“Yes you do.”
You turned so fast to him giving him a wild-eyed look, “Do not.” You repeated yourself. You weren’t sure how obvious you had been in front of the crew, but it looks like Harvard noticed. You thought you were doing a pretty good job of hiding it.
“Then why do you act all weird when you’re flying with him?” He cockily raised a single eyebrow.
Your lips parted ready to respond but nothing came out, your brain was failing you, “I have no idea what you’re talking about Aardvark.” You scrunched your nose turning away from him slightly.
“You’re unbelievable Kazansky.”
“You best believe that.” You threw him your most charming smile.
He shook his head laughing silently to himself. He was about to respond but the classroom doors opened with Mav, Cyclone and Warlock following closely behind, “Showtime.” Harvard clapped his hands.
The squadron was silent, everybody on edge to hear the assignments. Mav took a spot leaving only five pilots being selected. All eyes watched as the three men took the center of the room.
Mav looked at each pilot individually before continuing, “It has been an honor flying with you. Each one of you represents the best of the best. This is a very specific mission. My choice is a reflection of that and nothing more.”
He took a pause before Cyclone stepped in. Cyclone was cold. Even colder than your dad. You kept your eyes on Mav as Cyclone spoke, “Choose your two foxtrot teams.”
Mav smiled, “Phoenix and Bob.” He nodded to them before continuing, “Rooster and Harvard.” Your heart sunk knowing it was either you or Jake flying solo. Mav continued, “And your wingman. Lava.” You gave yourself a mini fist pump.
You turned to Harvard giving him the biggest hug, “We did it.” You clapped your hand on his back. You were so caught up in your emotions you almost forgot Jake, almost. Mav didn’t call Jakes name. You desperately wanted to go over to him. To pull him into a hug. To tell him he’s still the best pilot here. Jake would never admit to anybody but this one was going to hurt him. You saw just how hard he had trained through the last few weeks. You saw how he went from an incredible pilot to an exceptional one. You were genuinely surprised by Mav’s decision. There was one thing you learned early though, Mav always had his reasons.
Jake and Coyote sat at their desk as the rest of the Dagger Squad congratulated each other. After each hug and conversation, you had your eyes immediately went back over to Jake. You caught his eyes a few times seeing just how sad they looked. He softly smiled each time you made eye contact making you feel worse each time. You were sure Harvard was watching the two of you communicate silently just knowing he was going to give you shit for it later.
Jake walked out before the congratulations ended. You mentally forced the frown away from your face, this was supposed to be the best moment of your career. All you could think about was making Jake smile though. You wanted his full on Jake Seresin toothy grin that sent your heart racing. The one that could light up any room.
Despite everything you noticed his truck hadn’t left the lot even being the first one to leave. You walked over to it seeing Jake sitting there. He was deep in thought as you strolled up to him returning the soft smile from earlier. He unlocked the door motioning you to join him.
“Hey.” You said while jumping into his truck.
“Hi.” He didn’t turn to look at you. Your heart fell as you thought about what to do, what you could do.
Turning your full body to face him you spoke, “Jake, I’m so sorry…”
He cut you off, “Don’t be darling. Can you come here?” He opened his arms waiting for you to scoot across the bench style seating to him.
“You’re not worried about them seeing?”
He shook his head, just wanting to hold you. He wasn’t mad. He wasn’t really that sad. He was disappointed that Mav didn’t see him as good enough to fly. Jake knew you were going to be picked. He was almost certain he would’ve been too had Rooster not flown the way he had been recently. He was a backup, sure, but it just wasn’t the same as flying. He wanted to fly with you.
You happily obliged scooting yourself into his arms. You leaned your head onto his shoulder breathing him in. Quickly becoming obsessed with his cologne. The second he wrapped his arms around you pulling you in, you knew you were home. The instant relief and comfort such a simple gesture gave you was astonishing. As cheesy as it sounded, all your worries melted away as soon as he was near. You craved his physical touch.
“I don’t care right now.” He sighed resting his head on top of yours, “Just want you.” Your body felt nearly weightless at his words.
“I want you to.” You wrapped your arms around his torso squeezing him lightly.
He placed a kiss on the crown of your head whispering, “You’re so pretty.”
The chill that coursed through your body was nearly lethal. You were so weak when you heard his sweet words, “You can’t say that if you’re not going to kiss me.”
His laugh reverberated throughout your chest sending a small smile to your face. You closed your eyes fully taking him in.
You frowned when he pulled back from you, “It’s cute when you pout like that.” He took his free hand gently placing it under your chin. He ran his thumb along your jawline. He was fully taking you in now. You were looking at him with those big dopey eyes begging him to kiss you. It’s all you wanted, you wanted it more than getting selected for deployment.
You blinked slowly letting him hold your chin, “I wish you were going to be up there with me.” You sighed looking away from him. He wouldn’t let your head move out of his grasp, so you settled on moving your eyes away from him.
“Me too. More than anything, sweetheart.” He let your head go pulling your entire body into his, having your head rest on his chest. You were so profoundly comfortable with this man you didn’t think twice. You listened to the steady beat of his heart as he brushed through your hair. He was so soft. So gentle with you.
“But you’re going to do amazing up there. You’re going to be the best damn pilot up here. You’re going to hit that Uranium facility. And then you’re going to come back home. You were picked Y/N. You.” He kept brushing through your hair feeling you tense around him. His words driving the fear of not coming home back to him, Mav, and your dad. He continued trying to ease your stress, “You were picked. Mav picked you because he knows you can do it. You, Y/N Kazansky. One of the best pilots I’ve ever seen.” You shivered relaxing into him feeling terribly vulnerable at his words. He was comforting you right now when you were meant to be comforting him.
“Jake,” You brought your head off his chest, “Thank you.”
“Anytime beautiful.” He dopily smiled at you, “Let’s get you back home. Need to rest up before tomorrow.” He squeezed your thigh removing himself from you completely. You didn’t like that part, untangling yourself from Hangman.
“If we must.” You grumbled unhappily.
You didn’t realize that just being around him improved his mood. Your gentleness made his heart soar. Nobody had been so gentle with him before. He was Hangman, the cocky aviator who could get whomever he wanted. Why would he need somebody to be gentle with him? He was fine, he was getting through it just fine. Yes, you challenged him, but you never pushed him too far. When he needed the comfort there you were right there for him.
He was growing to adore the way you pouted when you didn’t get your way. Your eyebrows would stitch themselves together, nose crinkled up and lips parted. Jake just knew it was the way you got through to your dad, Admiral Kazansky. He was also sure it wouldn’t be much longer before he started caving to that face as well.
You and Jake talked for a few more moments before you left and got into your car. Your mind was swimming in thoughts as you drove back home. You knew you needed to get your head in the game before you all deployed the next morning. When you got home you changed before laying down on the couch. You were a big ball of anxiety not sure how to get yourself to stop thinking.
You pulled your phone out dialing the only person you knew could help, “Y/N.” You heard the smile in his voice.
“Dad.” You let out the big breath you were holding in.
“I heard. Congratulations.”
“Mav?” You questioned.
“Yes. Gave me a call not too long ago. I’ve been waiting on yours.”
You smiled, that was so like him, “Yeah sorry, talked with some of the other pilots for a little bit.”
“Getting along okay?” He pressed. What did Mav tell him? Mav was far too unobservant to be catching you ogling Jake.
“Mhmm.” You hummed placing him on speaker, “Getting along great.”
“So, I’ve heard.” He chuckled.
“What’d he tell you?” Groaning you got up to grab a drink from the fridge.
“Oh, nothing Lieutenant.”
“Dad!” You laughed, “Tell me.”
“Why are you getting so worked up about it kid?.” You heart dropped into your butt. He had to know. He had to know something. He was right though. You didn’t get worked up about stuff like this ever. He knew something was off. Your dad knew you better than you knew yourself.
“I’m not.” You replied, lying.
“Well, that’s good. I’m glad you’re getting along with everybody.”
“You know that’s not why I called you dad.” You ran your fingers through your hair.
He paused knowing the lighthearted conversation was shifting into something far more serious, “How are you feeling Y/N?” He asked, genuinely checking in on his daughter. Not many things scared Admiral Kazansky. Not even the throat cancer he beat. But his daughter doing this mission? That scared the living shit out of him. His little girl, his pride and joy was about to deploy for one of the most serious missions he’s ever seen. He knew the risk of you not returning were far greater than anything else you’ve previously done. He was so scared, but he couldn’t let you know this. He had to be your rock right now, somebody to help and guide you.
“I’m a little anxious, dad.” You admitted. You unknowingly began nibbling on your lip as a release.
“That’s okay. I’d be shocked if you weren’t. You need to find a routine.” He spoke softly trying not to raise the anxiety that was already bubbling in you.
“Routine?”
“Before big flights. You need to find the routine that helps you relax. Like a hot bath and a book, you like those right?” He asked.
You couldn’t help the stupid grin that spread across your face. He knew you so well, “Yeah dad, that sounds like my perfect night.”
“When we hang up I need you to do that Y/N. I need you to take your mind off it. You can’t think up there Y/N.”
You nodded, “Don’t think. Just do.” You recited Mav’s favorite lines to your dad. You had grown up flying with your dad and Mav. You always heard Mav yelling, “Don’t think. Just do.” Repeatedly through the comms. When it was your turn to actually start flying the planes Mav made sure to give you a lesson in ‘Don’t think. Just do.’ Mav scared the living shit out of you when you took your first jet up in the air.
You’d been flying with your dad for literally as long as you could remember. You learned how to fly a plane when you were ten. Of course, your dad was sitting right there with you, but he gave you full control and let you at it. He always said that it was a little secret between the two of you fully knowing your mom would throw a fit if she knew. These were civilian air crafts, naturally. Your dad had some pull unfortunately not taking a jet out for a ten year old pull though. You were a natural picking up on everything rather quickly.
You weren’t allowed to fly solo until you turned sixteen, thanks FAA. The day you did though you were up in the air on your own, your dad cheering you on the entire way. He made sure he was in the tower giving you instructions as you went about. You’ll never forget the look on his face when you landed. You’d never seen him so happy as he scooped you in his arms spinning you around telling you how proud he was of you.
The day you turned 17 you got your private pilot license. You, of course, passed with flying colors. Your dad threw a big party inviting anybody and everybody. He loved showing off your talents. Classic Iceman. You had yet to graduate high school but was further ahead than anybody in your class. You had your dad to thank for that. A Naval Academy graduation, Naval flight school, Top Gun, and a few deployments later you knew you were ready. You were more ready than anybody before you. You’ve wanted this your whole life. Don’t think, just do.
“Don’t think. Just do.” He repeated back to you.
You took a deep breath feeling better. He always made you feel calmer, “Thank you, dad. You always know what to say.”
“Give ‘em hell Y/N. Give them hell kid.”
“Yes sir.” Your eyes crinkled from the smile forming across your face. That was always his favorite line. Give ‘em hell. You would do exactly that for your dad, give them hell.
Don’t think. Just do. Go time.
Your F-18 was idling waiting on the go from command. Second in line. Eighteen hours ago you were in Miramar training. Now you were halfway across the world. You took a deep breath knowing you’d get the all clear soon.
You tapped the picture of your family, for good luck, “Let’s have a good flight.” You stuck your thumb up signaling your readiness.
“Dagger One, up and ready on catapult one.” Mav spoke through the comms. You let your breath out, letting it go one last time.
“Dagger Spare, standing by.” Jake spoke. Here it comes.
“Dagger Four, up and ready.” Phoenix came through.
“Dagger Three, up and ready.” Rooster this time. Showtime.
Your turn, “Dagger Two, up and ready.” Time slowed down like it always did when you were launching. Your best days included launching yourself from an aircraft carrier.
You heard the faint, “Send them.” And you were off just milliseconds after Mav was gone. Time to go.
“All systems online.” You confirmed to yourself. You flew to the left of Mav solely focusing on what the next ten minutes would be. Get in. Get out. Dog Fight. Breathe.
“Dagger Attack.” Mav spoke. You maneuvered your jet behind the Dagger One squad coming up on the valley quickly. Locked in you followed Rooster, close. You probably were a little too close, you weren’t going fast enough. Rooster wasn’t flying fast enough. Thirty seconds in you heard panic over the comms, Rooster was not flying fast enough. Maverick was far ahead trying not to leave his wingman, but Rooster was making it hard. You gulped knowing what was on the other side of the climb, knowing how bad it could be for the Dagger Squad if he didn’t pick up the pace.
Another thirty seconds pass with everybody yelling at him to pick up the pace. You shook it off focusing on flying behind Rooster, as close as you could. You were getting nervous now, having over ten seconds to make up.
“Impact. Enemy runway is destroyed!” Command let the Dagger Squad know. Really no turning back now. Focus. In. Out. Dogfight.
Another thirty seconds go by. Rooster finally kicked it into high gear. You thanked your lucky stars knowing Mav needed to be locked in to drop those bombs.
You were able to speed yourself up hightailing it behind Rooster and Harvard. Phoenix and Bob not far behind you.
“15 seconds.” You spoke getting Dagger Four ready. Mav and Rooster just made their climb and dive into the mountain. Things really felt like they were going in slow motion as you were approaching the Uranium enrichment plant.
“We’ve got impact! That’s a direct hit!” You heard Harvard cheer from the Dagger One squad. Breathe. Your turn.
“Go time.” You punched it seeing the first climb ahead of you.
“Dagger Two, status.” You heard Mav breathing hard. No fucking way he was talking to you while climbing that mounting.
“Almost there Mav. Almost there.” Your eyes were locked on, ready for it.
You pulled up breathing erratically forcing the plane into positions it did not want to be in. Just a few more seconds and you could breathe. You flipped the plane descending into the mounting spotting the blown up entryway.
“Bob, where’s my laser?”
“Working on it Lava.” You heard Phoenix and Bob both breathing heavily.
“Hurry up Bob.” You spoke to yourself starting to panic at the time crunch.
“Laser eye locked on.” Bob spoke calmly.
“Bombs away.” You hit the button praying for a hit. The second the bombs were dropped you pulled up, hard. You hardly heard the “Bulls-eye!” celebration as you were climbing the mountain. The G’s you, Phoenix and Bob were taking should’ve knocked you out cold. You vision started getting hazy fully knowing you were hitting 10 G’s. You squeezed every muscle in your body trying to get the blood pumping back into your brain. Focus. Get out. Dogfight.
The gasp you took once you finally crested the mountain was not for the light of heart. You had half a second to your thoughts before the SAM’s started firing.
“Fuck.” You muttered fully comprehending what was going down. You got in. You got out. Dogfight time. You punched it letting Phoenix and Bob know, you couldn’t lose them. They were your wingmen. Don’t think. Just do.
You were firing flares and bullets galore. You knew you needed to conserve them but there was just too many SAM’s coming in every direction. Phoenix was yelling. Mav was yelling. You were yelling right with them trying to get everybody out of it alive.
You felt a sense of peace wash over you as your flares were depleting far too fast. You used too many diverting a missile away from Phoenix. You used the last few blowing a missile up from behind.
“I’m out of flares.” You spoke, eerily calm into the radio. You rolled away right from the middle of the action trying to think of what to do, anything to do. What would Iceman do? They wouldn’t think. They would just do.
You grunted maneuvering every which way and direction. Fuck, there was so much going on.
“Smoke in the air!” You heard Phoenix yelling.
“Shit, I’m out Phoenix.” You panicked. No flares. Only bullets, that’d do you no good. Time to race and hope for the best.
“Evade! Evade!” Mav screamed into his comms. Horrified at what he saw happening before him he sprang into action.
“I can’t shake them!” You went right and left, up and down trying to get the missiles off your ass.
Mav flew above you releasing his flares. Eyes wide you let out a guttural scream when you saw Mav’s plane take a direct hit, “Mav! No!” You cried.
“Dagger one is hit! I repeat Dagger one it his! Maverick is down.” Phoenix yelled to command letting them know what was happening out in the field.
“Dagger one, come in!” You cried into the comms, desperate, “Did anyone see a parachute? Dagger one!” No response. The three planes began their flight back to the carrier. You couldn’t focus. Mav was down there.
“Lava! Those bandits are closing we can’t go back.” Phoenix tried to reason with you. You were breathing hard. You couldn’t believe your ears. They would just abandon him? Your Uncle Mav?
“Lava, he’s gone. Maverick’s gone.” Bob spoke up this time.
You shook your head, they didn’t understand. Fuck it. You dipped out of formation disobeying orders. Phoenix, Bob, Rooster and Harvard screaming at you. Ignore. Go find Mav. You flew as fast as you could. More screaming into the headset. There, a helicopter down below. It was firing at something. Mav?
You locked target, giddy with excitement. You released one of your only offensive missiles left. You watched as the helicopter exploded, unsure if Mav was down there. What you really hadn’t thought about was being defenseless and within SAM range again. You were hit almost immediately after you hit that helicopter. Lucky for you, you ejected.
You were wrapping your parachute up when Maverick came sprinting into your view. He was alive, cool, maybe you would be able to figure this one out after all. You went to greet him, but you received a rather hard push into the snow instead.
“What the hell Mav!” You yelled.
“You alright?”
“I’m fine.” You groaned standing back up, “That hurt though.”
“What are you doing here? You think I took that missile so you could be down here?” He yelled.
“Jesus Christ Mav! Did I not sure save your life?”
“I saved yours!” He huffed in frustration, “Ice is going to skin me alive, Y/N Kazansky. What the hell were you even thinking?”
“You taught me not to think!” You yelled back to him.
He clenched his fists in frustration, beaten on that one, “Well, it’s good to see you.”
You grinned laughing a little, “Good to see you too, Mav. Got a plan?” You smiled sweetly to your daredevil uncle. He always had some sort of plan. You found your way to the blown up air strip curious as to what he was thinking. You both jogged to an unmanned hanger. An F-14 sitting there, just waiting on Mav. He instructed you on what to do. Somehow finding a strip or concrete that could take the jet.
To your absolute astonishment the damn thing made it up in the air. Not after you making fun of it, calling it a museum piece. Mav instantly defended the worn down jet. You thought it’d be smooth flying back to the jet. But to your absolute horror two jets flew up next to you speaking a foreign language. Busted. You worked in the backseat to try and get something going, flipping every breaking you could. There was a reason you were a pilot and not a Wizzo, this stuff did not come easily to you.
“Come on Mav. Don’t think, just do.”
“Hang tight kid.” Mav began his crazy array of piloting shit, you getting to witness it front and center. Immediately taking one of the jets out.
“Smoke in the air!” You cried trying to help him out as much as you could.
“Flares. Now, now, now!” You let them rip from behind you defending yourself.
Mav dived getting low. Claiming that the terrain would confuse his targeting system. You gasped when the bullets came flying. Life or death.
“We took a hit!” You yelled.
“Brace yourself.” He almost stopped the jet hopping over the one that was chasing the duo. Mav unleased a flurry of attacks on the jet.
“You got them Mav!” Mav nailed the jet sending it down.
“Yes! Mav!” You shrieked happier than ever. Mav was certifiably the most insane pilot you’ve ever been around. You couldn’t believe what he was doing in the jet.
You thought you were all clear until you somehow managed to get the radar on. “Oh fuck.” You gasped seeing something not friendly pop up on the scan.
“Mav we got another one! Where is it?”
“On our nose.”
You were sent into a panic seeing a missile coming straight at you. Mav dodged the missile and the plane.
“We’re out of flares Mav.” You yelled not believing it was happening for a second time.
The bullets from the fifth gen started firing right at the inferior Tomcat, ripping into the back of it, “This is not good.” You cried looking behind you. Mav moved the aircraft back and forth somehow dodging most of the bullets.
“We took another hit!”
“No, no, no, no, no.” You heard Maverick begin to panic. Shit. You knew it was serious when he was sent into a frenzy.
“We can’t outrun this guy. Pull the ejection handles the second I tell you.” Mav spoke quickly realizing how dire the situation was.
“Mav wait!”
“Lava there’s no other way.” He pulled the aircraft up not giving you a second to argue with him.
“Eject, eject, eject. Lava, pull the handle! Eject!” Mav cried.
You tried. You really tried with all your might but the handles above you wouldn’t budge. You tried once more with no luck. A cold shiver ran through your body as you realized it really might be over for you.
“It’s not working! Mav!”
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry Ice.” He whispered. Your blood ran cold hearing the target lock. You tried with all your might to get the ejection handles to work.
As your luck would have it you heard an explosion from behind you. The jet had exploded out of thin air. That was until Jake came on through. You let out a cry realizing you’d make it home. It was hard to accept you’re the fate of death knowing what could happen at any time. It had never felt so serious before that moment. You would still love flying. You just had a newfound respect for it after this one.
“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. This is your savior speaking. Please fasten your seatbelts, return your tray tables to their locked and upright positions, and prepare for landing.” You and Maverick both let out a laugh. You crying a little. Giving him a thumbs up.
“Hey, Hangman, you look good.” Mav spoke after catching his breath.
“I am good, Mav. I’m very good.” You could see the smugness from as far as you were. He’d never let you live this one down.
You and Mav had a not so spectacular landing without a tailhook or landing gear. You sat there for a moment collecting your breath not really believing you’d made it back with hardly a scratch.
“You good?” Mav asked.
You laughed, feeling more euphoric than anything, “Yeah Mav, I’m good.”
The Tomcat was surrounded by crew and pilots alike celebrating your arrival back safe and sound. Mav was swept up by Hondo and Rooster. Phoenix cried bear hugging you.
“You stupid fucking idiot Kazansky.” She released you letting Jake have at you.
“I had to Phoenix.” She shook her head.
“Your boyfriend wants a word.”
You spun around seeing Jake looking very un-Jake like face looking back to you. He was happy to see you. You could tell that much. He just looked terrified?
“Are you fucking insane? Do you have a death wish?” Jake asked as he pulled you aside from the celebration grabbing your shoulders, shaking you back to reality, “Y/N!” He pushed you up against the inside aircraft carrier’s walls lightly.
“I’m sorry Jake!” You tried prying his hands off you, but he wouldn’t relent. He wasn’t hurting you by any means. He needed to touch you. To know that you were real. Jake couldn’t comprehend the last 45 minutes. First Maverick getting shot down he fully expected to scramble. Then, the worst news he could have heard, Dagger Two had been hit. He felt his blood drain right out of his body, finding it hard to breath.
“You’re sorry? You were dead Kazansky. Dead to the military. They wouldn’t let me go.” He let out a frustrated groan. Not sure how to express himself to you.
“I had to. That’s Pete. I had to Jake.” You couldn’t look up to him. It was finally hitting you just how dumb you had been. Your dad wasn’t going to be too thrilled about this one.
“Please look at me.” He spoke more calmly, chest heaving in and out. Obliging you looked up to him fully seeing the distress on his face, “I thought you were dead Y/N. For forty minutes I thought you were gone.” A single tear rolled down his face. Shit. Fuck.
You reached up wiping it away with the pad of your thumb, “But you saved us.” You spoke so quietly.
“I shouldn’t have had to.” He leaned his forehead against yours pushing you back up against the wall completely, “What were you thinking.”
“I wasn’t.” You admitted for the second time that day.
He cupped your face with his hands, “Can I kiss you?”
Eyes wide you responded, “Here? They’re all going to see.” You looked out onto the deck seeing everybody still celebrating. You were pulled away quickly from the chaos by Jake not fully getting to celebrate just yet. Celebration first then comes the inevitable punishment. You did disobey direct orders.
He shook his head looking at you like you were the most important thing to him, “I don’t care anymore. I thought you were gone. I thought I was never going to be able to kiss you Kazansky.” He looked at you with those lovesick eyes.
“Finally.” You grinned pulling him into you. He kissed you softly not wanting to mess this up. You, however, wanted more. You flipped him around, so he was leaning on the wall backed up against it. You pulled him in closer kissing him with more fervor. You pressed your body into his making sure he felt the friction you desired. Parting your mouth, you allowed him entrance.
He felt every ounce of your eagerness. Happily kissing you more aggressively than he anticipated. The two of you were no longer just kissing one another, you were full on sucking face. He stifled a grunt as you kept pressing yourself into him.
He broke the make out up knowing he would never hear the end of it if he had a hard on when he rejoined the celebration, “Jesus Christ Lieutenant, you can’t do that here.”
You giggled staring right at his mouth, you wanted more. So much more. He looked so damn hot standing there a little dazed with a semi-swollen mouth, “Sorry Hangman.”
He licked his lips knowing exactly what he wanted to do to you later, “Doesn’t seem all that sincere of an apology.”
You winked at him, no apology whatsoever, “It’s not. Now let’s go.” You took his hand dragging him back out onto the deck joining right back in where you left off.
“Well, aren’t you just a vision.” Jake whistled when you opened your front door. He handed you a small bouquet of flowers, “For you my dear.”
“Lilies!” You grinned grabbing the flowers from him gingerly, “These are my favorite.” You smiled up to him.
“They’re the ones from that pretty dress you wear sometimes.” He blushed lightly, not sure why he admitted that to you. Jake wanted to tell you everything. He learned this quickly in your relationship. The first few weeks he struggled not to pick his phone up to call you about something inconvenient that happened. You had to keep your phone on silent, getting in trouble for having it on as you were back in class.
You were originally stationed out of Virginia Beach, far away from your family. After the mission, and the ass chewing from your father, you were transferred back to Miramar. Again, you were convinced it was your father pulling strings because Cyclone wasn’t your biggest fan these days after you disobeyed his orders. You were reassigned as a teacher at Top Gun. You did your best to stay away from Cyclone, but it was hard, Top Gun wasn’t a big place.
Jake was previously stationed in San Diego, at the base a little further South. You couldn’t help but to be excited when you were transferred back to Top Gun. Jake was down the road. Mav literally lived a few blocks from you and your family was within driving distance.
You jumped in headfirst at Top Gun, you were used as the Maverick of training in the field. You loved beating aviators that were much older than you, all cockier than the next. You loved knocking then down a peg, humbling them a bit. You were worried that your flying career was over with the transfer. Your fears were moot when you were given your next set of orders, a mission in the middle east. That wasn’t for another few weeks though.
You set the flowers in a vase and topped it with water. Smiling stupidly at the flowers. You were floored that he noticed something so small. You hurried back over to your charming date.
“You noticed that hmm?” You kissed him on the cheek smiling sweetly at the man. You weren’t sure but you thought you loved him. You wouldn’t dare admit that anytime soon knowing you’d sound crazy, but he was incredible in every way. It was the small things he did that made your days so much easier. He would make sure your car was filled up, bring you flowers, order you dinner, made sure you never opened a door when he was around. You couldn’t help but to fall in love with him. You were only a month and half in, but you knew. You knew he was it for you.
“I notice everything about you sweetheart.” He tapped your nose with his pointer finger. Grabbing your hand, he walked you to his truck opening his door for you, “You really do look beautiful.”
“Thank you, Jake.” You shook your head at him loving the flattery but shy about it nonetheless.
He nodded winking at you thinking how cute it was when you shied away. He knew how comfortable you were with him, but the simplest comments would make you shy away. He still had something up his sleeve.
The drive to the beach was mostly quiet albeit the radio humming away. You loved the comfortable silence between the too, never feeling the slightest bit awkward. You always moved closer to him making sure to not distract him too much when he was driving. You either played with his hand or he with yours. Seemingly not ever wanting to ever let him go.
He parked. Jumping out quickly to get to your door before you could. You laughed as he just beat you this time, “You know I can get the door.”
He cocked an eye, “Sure you can. But you won’t.” He took your hand helping you down.
He grabbed a picnic basket and a blanket out of the back leading you to the beach. You loved the beach at sunset. The colors in the sky, the birds chirping away, the people flying kites. Everything about it made you happy. Jake picked up on it quickly, you were always suggesting sunset walks or swims. He was learning to love it just as much as you did.
He laid everything out letting you pick which spot you wanted, “This is wonderful.” You softly smiled to the man who captured your heart.
“I know how much you love the beach sunset. Why not dinner and a beach sunset.” He grabbed your hands squeezing them.
“You’re so sweet.” You couldn’t take your eyes off him, sunset be dammed, “Phoenix never believes me when I tell her how it’s going.”
He grumbled, “You tell Phoenix?”
“Yeah, and Halo.”
“Kazansky.” He sighed peeking back up seeing your amused expression. He couldn’t stop the smile that spread brightly across his face.
“Seresin.” You giggle admiring the way the sun reflects off him.
“Gosh you’re pretty.”
“So are you.” You replied quickly. Suddenly feeling flustered by him as he scooted closer to you.
He chuckled reaching for your face, “Sweet girl.” He leaned in further sending your heart into a frenzy. He stopped just short of your lips letting you finish the kiss, only if you wanted to.
You wanted too, closing the gap quickly. You felt him smile as you kissed him. You just adored him. He only stopped when he heard your stomach grumble.
“Let’s eat.” He grinned handing you your dinner.

The moment feels unreal with the golden light pouring over piano tiles long forgotten in his childhood, the man at his side that feels close enough to reach but not quite hold, the way that time stretches like molasses, sweet yet torturously slow and thick.
“I think we should, don’t you?”

A/N: Thank you @callsignblaze for requesting this and I'm so sorry for getting it out soooo late!
You and Mason have been dating for a week now. You both had confessed your feelings to one another shortly after he met you on the beach. The first two people to find out about you and Mason were your fathers, Jake and Bradley. This is just because they had been standing in the kitchen watching out the window and saw you both kiss. Of course, at first, they were against it but they couldn’t have asked for anyone better for you to date, Mason was a Floyd after all they knew how to treat their loved ones and how to take care of them. Just because they had met him doesn't mean that they didn't want to still interrogate him.
You and Mason had just gotten back from a date and he had just dropped you off. He had walked you to the door and kissed you before turning and leaving. He sat in his truck and made sure you got in safely before he took off and once inside and staring out the window he left. You hadn't noticed that your parents were standing in the door with a cheesy grin on their face. “Have him over for dinner.” Jake said behind you and you jumped out of your skin. You turned around.
“Pops! You almost gave me a heart attack.” You said putting a hand over your heart. You were too busy looking out the window watching Mason leave that you forgot about them being there.
“Sorry, Sweets.” Jake said and you nodded.
“It's ok. Back to the dinner part. You already know him. He hasn't changed.” You said
“We know him as your friend Mason Floyd but we don't know him as your boyfriend Mason Floyd.” Bradley said and it dawned on you.
“You both just want to interrogate him, don't you?” You said with a signature Seresin smirk on your face they both blushed. They knew they had been caught.
“Yes.” They both said at the same time.
“Fine. I'll invite him over tomorrow night.” You said and they nodded “I'm gonna go shower and change then I'll meet you two down here for a movie and snacks.” You said even though you had just eaten with Mason.
“But we love you just the way you are.” Jake said, matching your smirk and you rolled your eyes.
“You know what I meant.” You said and pushed him playfully and walked off. As you got to your room you pulled out your phone and sent a text off to him.
Dad and Pops know about us. They want you to come over and ‘meet’ you.
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: Meet me? They know me.
Yes, I know. They said and I quote “We know him as your friend Mason Floyd but we don't know him as your boyfriend Mason Floyd.”
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: Omg that's funny. When?
Tomorrow night.
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: I'll be there.
This is going to be a disaster.
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: No, it won't. It'll be fun and fine. Don't stress over it.
You always know what to say. I'll text you when I go to bed.
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: Looking forward to it. You have a fun movie night with them.
You chuckled and shook your head. He knew that the three of you had a movie night together most nights. You put your phone on charge and then got things for your shower. Once your shower was done you got dressed, grabbed your phone and headed downstairs where your dads were already queuing up a movie. “What are we watching?” You asked.
“The Proposal.” Bradley said as he finished getting the movie ready. Snacks and drinks were already on the coffee table.
“I love that movie!” You exclaimed excitedly and walked over to the couch and snuggled into Jake and he welcomed it. They both chuckled.
“We know. We love it too.” Jake said as Bradley sat on the other side of you and now you were sandwiched between them.
“That's why we put it on.” Bradley said stealing you from Jake.
“Hey!” He protested
“She's my kid too.” Bradley said and you just chuckled. Soon the movie was starting and the three of you got comfortable. The night continued on watching movies until all three of you were nearly asleep and you decided to call it a night. All 3 of you said your goodnights and I love yous then you were heading to bed. Once in bed you pulled out your phone.
Just got into bed. I'm still dreading tomorrow night.
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: It'll be fine. We're in this together, babe. Try and get some sleep and try not to fret about it.
You always know what to say, one of the many reasons I fell in love with you. Goodnight.
Mason 'My Forever' Floyd: That's because you're my soul mate. Goodnight.
You blushed furiously as you stared at the text and then you were putting your phone away and falling asleep.
—
The next day was a Saturday and you were thankful for that. Not much was done on Saturdays in the Bradshaw-Seresin household. Really nothing was done on the weekends to you three it was time away from working and going to school. You always looked forward to weekends.
10 AM rolled around and you were rolling out of bed to the smell of food. Bradley and Jake were always up way too early and they usually did stuff together like workout before they started to wake you up and make breakfast. You started to walk downstairs and into the kitchen to see Jake by the stove and Bradley at the kitchen table on his phone and coffee by his side. He would occasionally step in and help Jake if he needed but the kitchen was left to Jake mostly. “Good morning, Honey.” Bradley said as Jake said “Good morning, Sweets.” That made you smile.
“Mornin’.” You said still not 100% awake. “Smells good.” You said coming to sit on the counter as your parents gave a look but you didn't make a move to get up instead you just smirked.
“So, is Mason still coming over tonight?” Jake asked as he flipped the waffles and you nodded.
“Yes, he is.” You said
“Good.” He said and Bradley just smiled and chuckled.
“We just want you to be safe and make sure he's the right one for you.” Bradley said and you nodded with a sigh.
“I know but I just really like him.” You said getting a dreamy look in your eye and they smiled.
“You know your dad and I hated each other when we met.” Jake said
“Really?” You asked and they nodded.
“It wasn't our first-time meeting or dating.” Bradley let it slip.
“Really?” You asked again, shocked and they nodded.
“We dated for a while and then it ended on bad terms. We didn't see each other for a while until we met again at Top Gun. It was very tense but then afterwards we got together, got married, and then decided to have you with the help of Dakota.” Jake said and everyone got sad when Dakota's name was mentioned. The rest of the day and afternoon leading up to the night was filled with you and your dads being together and having family time. You were shocked but it made so much sense. The rest of the morning and afternoon was spent as a family and having the best time together.
It finally came time for supper and you were so nervous even though they already knew Mason but they would be meeting him as your boyfriend and not their best friend’s kid. You had texted Mason earlier to tell him to be there at 6 PM. When the time came, he was there at 6 PM on the dot. You went and opened the door and there he stood with your favorite flowers, roses, and a gift for Jake, and Bradley. “Hey you.” He said and kissed you and you kissed back.
“Hey you.” You repeated with a smile when you pulled away. You allowed him to come in and he handed you the flowers
“Good evening, sirs.” Mason said and held out his hand to shake. If this was the first time, he was meeting them as your boyfriend he was going to make a good first impression.
“Good evening, Mason. You know us so you can call us by our names.” Jake said and he nodded. You had gone to put the flowers in water. He then handed Jake and Bradley arrived and he handed them their gift.
“I was going to give you individual gifts but since I can't buy alcohol I decided to do a joint gift.” He added a little nervously. They both looked at each other and smiled. They then looked at the gift. It was a 3D Crystal Photo that was etched with a picture of you, Jake, and Bradley. It was a younger you were on a horse and they were on either side of you, you were smiling and they were looking at you smiling.
“How did you get this picture?” Bradley asked in awe.
“I had Y/N send me it when I asked for it for a gift idea.” He said
“Did she know about this?” Jake asked and he shook his head. “It's really lovely. We love it.” and Bradley nodded. “Dinner is almost ready. The steaks just have a few more minutes to go.” Jake said as they walked into the kitchen after he put the picture on the space that looked out into the living room to the kitchen.
“Anything I can help with?” Mason asked
“Can you and Y/N set the table?” Bradley asked
“Yes.” You and Mason said at the same time and they smiled. You both went to work setting the table while Jake and Bradley went outside to check the steaks and pull them off the grill. You and Mason chatted and laughed while Jake and Bradley looked into the house smiling.
“They’re perfect for each other.” Bradley said and Jake nodded.
“Yeah, they are.” Jake agreed and then they were pulling the steaks off and heading back inside. The table was set and Jake was setting the steaks in the middle of the table. “The potatoes and mac n’ cheese are on the stove.” He said and you both nodded as everyone got their steaks and then went to the stove. Once everyone was seated everyone began to eat. It was quiet at first but it wasn’t awkward.
“This is really good.” Mason said and Jake and Bradley smiled.
“Thank you, the mac n’ cheese is an old family recipe and the mashed potatoes is also a recipe from Jake’s family.” Bradley said and Jake nodded. The rest of the night went off without a hitch and you were so glad about that. They did grill him pretty hard but he stayed calm and answered all the questions with ease. But the time it was time for him to leave it was just like you were hanging out with Mason and it didn't matter that he was your boyfriend. Everything was great. You walked him to the door.
“I'm sorry for all that.” You told him and he shook his head.
“Nonsense. It was great. Your dads love me and I love them.” He said reassuring you and you nodded. “Hey.” He said and you looked up at him. “I love you.” He said.
“I love you too.” You said back and then he kissed you and then he was leaving. You turned around and there was Jake and Bradley.
“We approve.” They said at the same time and you chuckled.
“Thank you.” You said
“Anytime, Sweets.” Jake said as they brought you into a hug.
–
A week later Mason was having you over for dinner as a sort of ‘get to know the parents as boyfriend and girlfriend’. “Hey mom and dad I'm gonna have my girlfriend over.” He said looking nervous.
“Oh, how lovely! I can't wait to meet her!” Judy said excitedly and hugged her son and he hugged back smiling.
“That's great, Mase. I'm sure she's gonna be lovely.” Bob said smiling and Mason smiled.
“She is.” He said and so when he went up to his room, he texted you the details smiling.
******
“Hey I'm going over to Mason's for dinner tonight.” You said and they smiled.
“Let me guess to do the same thing we did to him?” Bradley asked and you nodded.
“I'm actually glad you're doing it this way. Yes, we already know him and Bob and Judy know you but it's nice.” Jake said and you smiled.
“We have to thank you guys for that.” You chuckled
“What time are you heading over there?” Bradley asked
“He wants me there at 6:30 PM.” You replied “But I'm leaving a little early to grab flowers for Judy and things they like.” You said and they smiled.
“Bob likes Sparkling Apple Cider. He had it at our wedding and fell in love with it. Penny has it on stock at The Hard Deck.” Jake said and you smiled.
“Thanks Pops.” You said “I should get going if I want to stop by the store and bookstore.” You said
“Bookstore?” Bradley asked and you nodded.
“There is a book Mason has been dying to get but never gets a chance to so I'm getting it for him.” You said blushing a little.
“That is so sweet.” Both Jake and Bradley said at the same time and you looked down.
“I need to go.” You said and they nodded.
“Yes, go go.” They said ushering you out as you grabbed your wallet and keys to your Jeep. You got in and headed to the bookstore when you parked you walked in and knew exactly where to go. You smiled when you saw it, a copy of The Outsiders and you grinned ear to ear. You walked to pay for it and smiled at the friendly cashier woman, Martha.
“Are you getting this for Mason?” She asked and you nodded.
“That's so lovely. I'm glad you got the last copy of it.” She said
“Thank you.” You said as you grabbed the back and began to walk out and as you opened the door you looked back “Have a nice day, Martha! I'll see you soon!” You said and she smiled.
“Anytime my dear. Have a good night. Tell Mason I said hi.” She said and you smiled.
“Will do.” You said and then left. You got in your Jeep and put the book in the passenger seat and headed to the grocery store. You were quick to park and walk in. You first grabbed the Sparkling Apple Cider and then an arrangement of Lilies, Daisies, Snapdragons, Alstroemerias, Gladiolus’, Orchids’ and Iris’. You might’ve gone overboard but you couldn't help yourself. Once you were done there you were heading to their place. You were quick to arrive and walked up the door and rang the doorbell and Mason opened it. “Hey, Martha says hi.” You said and he kissed you.
“Hi, when did you see her?” He asked
“When I got your favorite book that you've been wanting.” You said and pulled it out.
“Y/N/N thank you so much. I've been meaning to get this.” He said in awe.
“I know I got the last one.” You said and then kissed you and then he was bringing you in.
“Mom. Dad. My girlfriend is here.” Mason said and here they came.
“Y/N you're his girlfriend?!” Judy said excitedly and you smiled and nodded. “Finally! I'm so happy!” She said and hugged you and you hugged back.
“I'm so happy you're his girlfriend.” Bob said and hugged you once Judy released you.
“Oh Judy, these are for you.” You said and handed Judy her flowers.
“Oh Y/N/N these are amazing. Thank you so much. These are my favorites.” Judy said and you smiled as she kissed your cheek.
“Bob, these are for you.” You said as you handed him an 18 pack of Sparkling Apple Cider.
“Thank you so much. How did you know?” He asked, looking at you adoringly.
“Pops helped me with the idea. He said that you fell in love with it at their wedding and that Penny has it on stock at The Hard Deck. I also know you don't drink.” You said sheepishly.
“Thank you.” He said and hugged you and you hugged back. Judy had walked into the kitchen to finish dinner and to put the flowers away. About a minute later you, Bob, and Mason walked in.
“Is there anything I can do?” You asked and she smiled sweetly at you.
“You can help me with the rest of cutting the vegetables up and fixing the salad while the boys’ man the grill.” She said and you smiled and did just that.
Soon dinner was ready and you 4 were sitting down to eat. They asked you questions but it wasn't as intense as your dads asked. It helped that they practically helped raise you. You stayed a little bit longer which they insisted that you didn’t need to but you insisted and then you watched a movie together. Once the movie was over Mason was walking you to your Jeep. “I think our parents are ok with us dating.” He chuckled and you nodded.
“I mean they practically did raise us from the start.” You chuckled
“I’m so glad you’re my girlfriend.” He said and you smiled.
“I’m so glad you’re my boyfriend.” You replied and he smiled and kissed you and you happily returned that kiss. Then you were pulling apart and getting in and heading home. He made sure you were out of the neighborhood safely before going back inside. When you got home you let him know it was only fair since he let you know he was home last time.
–
You and Mason had been dating for a month now and it was great. You honestly don’t know what took you guys so long to admit your feelings and just go for it but you’re glad you did. The Daggers would have a monthly BBQ. It was just a way for everyone to be themselves around each other without work and it was a way to make their squadron stronger even though they were a strong squadron. “How do you think I should introduce Mason as my boyfriend? I know they know him but you know.” You said as you guys were shopping for food the day before.
“Well, you could always say your boyfriend is coming over and then Mason shows up.” Bradley pitched and you thought about it.
“Yeah, that sounds like a good plan.” You and Jake said at the same time and Bradley chuckled.
“No denying you’re her father.” He chuckled
“Hey there is no denying you’re her father too, Rooster.” Jake said, bringing out his callsign.
“Oh, you did not.” You and Bradley said at the same time in the same tone.
“See?” Jake asked, smirking. You both rolled your eyes “There it is again.” He chuckled and Bradley flipped him off which made you laugh. The rest of the shopping trip was spent playfully picking at each other and having fun. When you got back into the truck after helping load the groceries you texted Mason the plan and he was all for it and then you texted Bob and Judy and they too were all for it.
The next day Jake and Bradley started early getting everything set up and cleaned up. When you got up around 10 AM you got yourself ready for the day and then started to help them out. Music was playing and you three made it fun instead of a chore. When everything was done and it was time for The Daggers to come over you guys were ready. They started to show up in pairs or by themselves. They greeted you and your dads and whoever was over at the time. Once everyone was settled and had drinks or food you broke the news. “Hey my boyfriend is coming over in a few minutes.” You said and tried to hide the knowing smile.
“Oh, Baby Bradshaw-Seresin is dating?” Natasha smirked and you nodded.
“Who is this mysterious boy?” Javy asked
“You'll find out soon.” You replied. Carole, Goose, Maverick, and Ice were there as well and they knew because you told them and boy were they excited. Goose had to be Goose and be all dramatic about saying ‘My Chick is growing up! She's dating! Next thing you know she's married and having kids! My heart can't take it!’ Everyone just chuckled but they knew he was right they didn't want you growing up too fast but once they found out it was Mason all that changed. They still didn't want you to grow up but they knew Mason would take good care of you.
“How long have you been dating?” Mickey asked
“A month.” You replied with ease.
“You're really not going to tell us?” Ruben asked and you shook your head pulling the Seresin smirk. It was a few minutes and everyone went back to themselves and then the doorbell rang.
“Oh, that's him! I'll go and get it!” You said and skipped off. You opened the door and there stood Mason and you kissed him while pulling him in.
“Do they know it's me?” He asked and you shook your head and chuckled “Well let's go and reveal it then.” He said and you grabbed his hand and walked out to the backyard.
“Oh hey, Mason! We're waiting for Y/N's boyfriend.” Natasha said and he looked at you and you smirked.
“Babe, are you cheating on me?” He asked, smirking so you can only see it.
“On you? Baby not in a million years.” You said and kissed him and then it started to click in people's heads.
“Wait..... What?! No way! You're dating him! Finally! It's about time!” Javy said and ran up to you both and hugged you both and then he lightly hit you “Why wasn't I the first to know! I'm always the first to know!” He said with a hurt expression on his face and you chuckled.
“I know but we wanted some time to actually be a couple before telling people.” You explained and he nodded. He understood. “We really only told Dad, Pops, Bob, and Judy just because they're our parents. Then Goose, Grandma Carole, Grandpa Maverick and Grandpa Ice found out by accident.” You said and they nodded.
“I knew it all along. You two were too friendly with each other. Also, the way you gossiped all about him and were all gushy gushy about him I put two and two together. Also, I saw you two out and about holding hands and kissing.” She said smugly.
“How?” Jake said
“They happened to be at the same restaurant I was at getting food.” She said with a shrug “Then I saw them going to ice cream and they were holding hands.” She said smirking and you and Mason were blushing and you hid into his neck and he cuddled you.
“Aww look at them getting all cute!” Carole gushed and that made you go redder.
“It's too cute!” Goose gushing with his wife. Ice and Maverick just smirked because they agreed with them.
“No. Absolutely not. Our baby is growing up.” Mickey said in denial.
“I won't allow it.” Mickey said, shaking his head. You and Mason laughed.
“I'm sorry guys but we really love each other.” You said and Mason nodded.
“No, not the ‘l’ word! I can't… I just can't.” Ruben said and turned away like he was fake crying and Mickey turned to him comforting him.
“I know. I know. Let it all out.” Mickey said and everyone just smiled because they knew they were putting on a show. Ruben turned around and took a breath. He looked at you both in each other's arms.
“Nope. I can't. I just-” He said and you both walked over and hugged him.
“Shhhh, I'm still you're Bunny. I'm still the same energized little girl, I just have a partner in crime now.” You said and he nodded.
“I'm really happy for you guys. You both picked good ones.” Ruben said
“They sure did.” Mickey added and joined in on the hug. Everyone was smiling. They were really happy you two had each other and like Ruben said you two picked good ones. Once Mickey and Ruben accepted it the night went on like nothing changed. Mason did get grilled with 20 questions even though they did know him but they just wanted to be sure. You weren't off the hook either, questions were thrown at you too but you answered them.
The night ended and everyone was leaving. Bob and Judy stayed to help clean up because that's just who they are. You and Mason fell on the couch “Exhausted?” He asked and you nodded and laid your head on his shoulder.
“I'm glad they approve.” You said and he kissed your temple.
“We knew they would.” He said and you smiled.
“Yea I know.” You chuckled then both sets of parents came in.
“We're really so glad you're both dating.” Judy said and everyone nodded and you both smiled.
“We love you guys. We just want you both to be safe.” Bob said and you both nodded.
“We will be.” You and Mason said.
“Thank you for telling us first.” Bradley said
“It really meant a lot to us.” Jake said
“We agreed that we would tell you guys first. You're important to us.” Mason said and you nodded and they smiled. They all hugged you and then left. Now it was you and Mason on the couch enjoying each other's embrace. Tonight, couldn't have gone any better and it was perfect, you both were just glad everyone approved.
Everything was perfect.

sarah! babe! congrats on the big 400. if anyone deserves it, it's your sweet soul!
ok my (first?) request is obviously Iceman because we all know what era I'm in. I 1000% need this to survive, just so you're aware.
"Is there a reason you're naked in my bed?"
Pumped for you and can't wait to see what you churn out for this even! Big love! <3
i'm so so sorry it took me so long to get to this girl! thank you so much for celebrating with me!
pairing: tom 'iceman' kazansky x kerner!reader warnings: language, smut, unrequited but requited love, let me know if i missed any word count: ~1.5k a/n: i will most likely expand further on this in the future once i've caught up on some other works ❤❤ prompt: "is there a reason you're naked in my bed?"
Why did your brother have to invite his pilot on your family trip? His incredibly hot, but annoying pilot.
Though, he was your big brother… it was his job to get under your skin.
You had originally had a beach trip planned with your friends, but a storm rolled in the day you were scheduled to leave and your friends decided it would be better to reschedule. So after you did that, you headed up to the mountains with the idea to surprise your family.
And that’s how you ended up walking in on… this.
“Ummm, is there a reason you’re naked in my bed, Tom?”
You tried to avoid looking directly at him, even though your brain had taken a photo of the sight before you could look away.
“Your bed? Last I checked this was my room.”
He stayed in the same position on the bed as he looked you over, not at all embarrassed about being completely exposed. His head rested against his arm, the other draped over his sculpted abdomen.
You didn’t respond, afraid you’d stutter and embarrass yourself further than the obvious blush covering your face and neck.
“You gonna stand there with the door wide open or come in and close it?”
You chose the latter and tossed your bag down before closing the door. “You know, this is actually my room, considering it is my family's cabin. This has been my room since I was 7.”
Tom scoffed a bit and propped himself up on his elbows, “And last I checked, you were supposed to be at Myrtle Beach.” He got up, securing a blanket around his waist to give you the opportunity to actually look at him. “Which is why I’m in here and not sharing a room with your brother.”
You crossed your arms and focused on his blue eyes, which didn’t actually help you at all. The icy orbs causing your thoughts to just slip out of your mind.
“W-well, there was a storm that was gonna last a few days, so we-we rescheduled.” You mentally kicked yourself. You sounded so unsure of what you had just said. And it had been the truth.
Tom tilted his chin up, his sly expression already telling you he didn’t believe you.
You scoffed and picked your bag up, “You know what, I’m just gonna sleep on the couch.”
As you hand touched the door knob, Tom’s hand covered yours, “Wait…” You brushed his hand off, “It’s fine, Ice.” You opened the door, “I’ll sleep on the-”
Tom’s large hand pushed the door shut, holding it closed. “You’ve never called me by my call sign before.”
You kept your back to him, “Sure I have.”
“No, I would remember.”
“Why is that something you would remember? I’m sure I’ve said plenty of memorable things.” He got close to your ear, “Because you’re the only person I prefer to call me Tom.”
Ice practically purred the sentence into your ear. The gravel in his voice came from deep in his chest, causing it to rumble against your back.
You let out a shaky breath, your face heating up, “This isn’t funny Ice. If you’re trying to get back at me for something, can’t you like dump ice on me while I’m in the shower or throw me in the lake while I’m fully clothed? Just don’t do this…”
“Y/N-” “I’m already embarrassed, please don’t rub it in.”
He rested a hand on your shoulder and carefully turned you around, making you look at him. “I’m not, I swear.”
You didn’t look him in the eye, afraid that if you did he would just laugh at you.
Tom sighed and tilted your chin up, “I know how you feel about me. You’re not good at hiding it…” You closed your eyes, hating the vulnerable position you're in because your body is on fire. “And maybe I’m too good at hiding it.”
Your eyes shot open, looking directly in his icy blue eyes in search of the truth – trying to find that harsh critical glaze that waited for you to slip up, for you to make the mistake.
But it was gone, the glacier of his irises had melted and all you saw was oceans – warm, loving oceans. Any trace of Iceman was gone, melting away to show Tom Kazansky.
He’d hidden his feelings for too long, he needed you to know. Your brother told him the day he invited him out on this trip, he should tell you because he was tired of seeing your love sick gaze on his pilot before watching it turn sad when he got hit on. And he had planned to, but you announced your plans to go to the beach and his plan got shot down.
But now here you were chest to chest as he confessed his feelings for you in nothing but a blanket.
“Kiss me,” you said breathlessly, lids drooping as you looked from his eyes to his lips.
He grinned and pressed his lips to yours, cupping the side of your neck as he pressed you into the door and made you drop your bag.
That hand immediately buried itself in his hair, the other trying to pull him closer by the small of his back. He locked the door with his free hand before pulling you in by the belt loop of your jean shorts, not caring if his blanket fell.
You pushed away from the door, to go towards the bed, but he pushed you up against the wall. With the movement, the blanket fell from his waist
You pulled back from him, panting as you looked down, “I feel overdressed now.” He smirked and his hands went to the button on your shorts, “I can fix that.”
His lips attached to your neck as he worked your button loose and pushed your zipper down. His teeth nipped at your pulse point, drawing a quiet moan from your lips as your shorts were hastily pushed to the floor.
Tom wasted no time pulling away and getting on his knees to pull your underwear down your legs.
Panting, you peel your shirt off and undo your bra clasp. You looked down as Tom began to kiss your thighs, nipping every other kiss. But before he could lift your leg over his shoulder, you tilted his chin up.
“As good as you most likely are, I need you inside me.”
“Shit~” He groaned before standing and pushing you flush with the wall, kissing you deeply before pulling away. His hands went to the backs of your thighs, “Jump.”
You don’t hesitate and jump, wrapping your legs around him. “Please Tom~”
He smirked before bringing his thumb to your clit, rubbing languid circles as he lined himself up.
He looked back into your eyes, making sure you still wanted to do this before you went too far.
“I want you, Tom.”
The only four words he needed to hear before he was pushing into you, circling your clit the whole time.
The stretch was uncomfortable for a moment, but the gentle pleasure of his touch helped balance it out.
Once he was buried to the hilt, he kissed you gently but passionately as he waited for you to relax around him.
You relaxed into the kiss immediately, your crossed ankles bringing him closer to you. You moaned against him as his cock twitched and your walls fluttered. “You can move now~”
He nodded, lips hovering over yours as he braced his forearms on the wall and started to move.
“You feel so good~”
“Tom, fuck~”
A small grunt left his lips as your moans vibrated against them.
His movements were slow, but calculated. He didn’t want to rush this, he wanted you to feel it all.
And you did. Your senses seemed to be in overdrive.
You could feel the pulse and the heat of his cock with every roll of his hips. You could hear the grunting and the groaning as he tried to keep quiet. The scent of sex and his shampoo was all you could smell.
“Tom, baby, faster please~”
He nodded and pulled away from the wall.
His arms wrapped around you, one hand going to your hair as he kissed you. He took a few blind steps to get to the bed and lay you down on it.
You both managed to get to the middle of the bed, barely breaking the kiss.
“You’re so beautiful~”
You smiled under him, “So are you~”
He smiled back and pressed his lips to yours, rolling his hips.
“Oooh Tom~”
“You wanted faster… but I want to do this right~” He rasped out, interlocking his fingers with yours and moving your hands above your head.
You looked up at him, eyes wide and chest heaving. “I’ve been craving you since we met… it only amplified when I got to know you…”
You giggled and kissed his lips, “Is that why you were naked in my bed?”
“That’s exactly why I was naked in your bed~”
thank you for joining me for this event! ❤ i hope you enjoyed it @valmare ! and again i'm so so sorry it took so long to fulfill this request!

Worth Fighting For | Maverick Mitchell
masterlist | One Year TG celebration
synopsis: Maverick can't help but fight for who he loves
word count: 2.5k
warnings: sexism, fighting, cursing, mentions of canon character death, oblivious friends to lovers
“Why should I have to respect her? She’s a-“
Maverick knew that it probably wasn’t a good idea to go to the O Club on a night after an exam.
He knew the whole place would be crawling with young pilots wanting to blow off steam from a stressful week of flights and studying for the exam. He also knew there would be a handful of spiteful pilots who were pissed about their exam grades. But there was no arguing a grade when every single question was multiple choice.
Maverick had a love-hate relationship with his position at top gun. He hated being chained to a classroom most days. He hated lecturing. He hated having to teach “by the book”. He hated having to answer to Ron Kerner of all people.
but he did love teaching young pilots and seeing them excel throughout the course. And he also loved getting to work with the love of his life day after day.
You and Maverick knew that there was no replacing your brother, Goose. You had been on the ground in the rec room hearing every single bit of the accident and had begged Viper to let you get on the rescue chopper. It was the worst day of your lives to go up to Carole’s door and tell her that her husband was dead.
But before the accident, the two of you were never really close. You always saw Maverick as Goose’s annoying, hotshot best friend, and Maverick saw you as his RIO’s little sister. But after the accident, everything had changed. He had been driving your brother when he died, and you saved Maverick’s life in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Maverick had found the courage later that night to ask you out, but that dream was squashed when he saw Tom Kazansky leading you to his room.
You didn’t know that Maverick had caught you that night, and he never did bring it up. The two of you both seemed to just brush off that night and continue on as best friends. Now, the two of you were both instructors at TopGun, alongside Ice and Slider.
Even though you were one of the best pilots in the Navy, the Navy didn’t seem to treat you with that kind of respect. You were the same rank as your male counterparts and had higher ASVAB and GT scores. You also graduated top of your class at the Academy. You were almost as decorated, if not more decorated than Ice. . . but because you were a girl, everyone seemed to turn the other way. You tried your best to not let it bother you, rolling back your shoulders and keeping your head held high with confidence. But some days it got the better of you, and it would be clearly drawn across your face.
“Ignore what that prick said to you. He’s just pissed ‘cause his boy failed the test,” Slider said to you, pushing a shot of tequila toward you.
You sighed, “It’s not even the fact that Captain Holloway yelled at me, it’s the fact that he did it in front of Viper. And fucking Viper just stood there!”
“Because he knows you can handle it,” Ice chimed, “He knows you can handle your own. You don’t need us for backup.”
“Well, it would’ve been nice, assholes,” You chided and grabbed the shot in front of you. Maverick watched as you tilted your head back and downed it in one go.
Everyone knew that having a legacy student in the class was going to cause some complications, but no one expected Captain Holloway to drive across base and demand to see the “half-wit instructor” who gave his son a failing grade on his exam. Iceman had originally stood up, preparing to take the fall for it, but you stood up instead, taking 100% accountability. Captain Holloway let you know how angry he was that his son had failed and was being kicked out of TopGun, his face growing red with anger and the vein in his forehead pulsing. But you just stood calmly, letting the old naval aviator get his frustration out. And when he was done yelling and insulting your intelligence, you handed him his son’s failed exam and the answer key, telling him to look through and see it for himself.
“I think I’m gonna turn in,” You said, causing groans to arise from Slider and Iceman, “Yeah, yeah, cry me a damn river.” You slid out of the booth, and retrieved your wallet to toss a couple of bills on the table to cover your drinks, “It was nice gossiping with you ladies, but I am beat. I’ll see you Monday.”
“Goodnight, Hawk,” Maverick said, as you turned to leave. You gave him a small smile before grabbing your cap and getting lost in the sea of naval officers.
The booth was silent for just a moment, and Maverick looked down at the drink in front of him, until an ice cube hit him right in the forehead. He lifted his head up and furrowed his eyebrows at Slider, who had a guilty grin on his face.
“What the fuck, Slider?” Maverick asked.
“No, you what the fuck,” Slider said.
“‘Goodnight, Hawk’?” Ice asked and Maverick looked at him confused, “She had an awful day and you say all of three words to her the whole night? What the hell is your deal?”
Maverick rolled his eyes and sat back in the booth, “You said she had it handled, and she did. She didn’t need any additional sympathy.”
“God, no wonder you couldn’t keep Charlie around,” Slider mumbled.
Maverick scoffed, before downing his beer, “I’m getting another drink.”
“Oh, me too?” Slider asked, holding up his rocks glass.
“Suck my johnson, Kerner,” Maverick cursed as he left the two pilots in the booth.
Maverick nodded to Tony as he bellied up at the bar, sliding his empty beer bottle across the dark wood. He knew that his feelings towards Hawk were very one-sided and that everyone could see it. Hell, even Charlie could see it for the short amount of time they were together. Maverick was always at your beck and call, always right by your side when you needed him. Charlie had confronted Maverick about it a couple of days before she left for DC. But there was nothing Maverick could do, you were Ice’s girl. . . well, as far as anyone knew, you were Ice’s girl.
“Did you see Commander Bradshaw was here?” Maverick turned his head slightly, seeing two of his young pilots walking up to the bar, “Can’t believe she’d even come to a place like this.”
The other pilot, a blonde one that Maverick couldn’t remember the name of, but didn’t like, smirked, “Of course, she’d be here. They gotta get her loosened up somehow.”
“What do you mean?”
“Didn’t you see who she was with? Maverick, Slider, and Ice. . . It’s not rocket surgery to know how she got her job.”
Maverick clenched his jaw as Tony set a fresh beer in front of him. He muttered thanks and slid some bills out of his wallet, still listening to the young pilots insult you.
“Did you see the way she nearly cried today? God, I wish Viper would’ve fired her,” The Blonde pilot said, “She doesn’t know her shit. She’s slow in the air. She acts like a fucking twat anytime Maverick is-”
Maverick slammed his beer bottle down, causing the two pilots to look at him. From across the bar, Slider and Ice turned their heads to see the showdown starting to happen.
“Oh Jesus Christ,” Iceman muttered, seeing Maverick’s small frame try to square up to a taller pilot.
“You two,” Maverick said, pointing between the two pilots, “Need to watch what you say about your commander.”
The Blonde scoffed, “For what fucking reason? You clearly didn’t have a thing to say when Captain Holloway was ripping her a new one.”
Maverick could feel the blood pulsing through his body as his hands started to shake with rage, “He’s her superior, you are not. You need to treat Commander Bradshaw with respect.”
“Why the fuck should I have to show her any respect? She’s a-”
Nobody heard the last part of the blonde pilot’s sentence, because Maverick had punched him right in the jaw. Gasps were heard throughout the club as Maverick grabbed the pilot’s collar, and punched him again, a sickening crack filling the air. But the blonde didn’t stay down for long, reeling his head back and headbutting Maverick. Maverick groaned, lunging forward to throw another punch, but was held back by Ice. Slider grabbed the other pilot and pulled him away from the bar.
“No more fucking scenes, Mitchell,” Ice muttered in his ear, dragging him towards the front door of the O Club.
Maverick didn’t put up any protests as Ice put him in the car, and drove down the familiar streets to your house. Instead, Maverick looked down at his split knuckles and occasionally wiped away the blood falling from his nose. When the two of them arrived at your house, Ice told Maverick to stay in the car, as he jogged up to your front door. Maverick watched out the window as you came to the door, a smirk on your face, your body clad in a silk nightgown. Then he watched the smirk fall as Iceman pointed towards the passenger seat where Mav was at. He gave you a small wave, and you rolled your eyes, walking into your house.
Ice jogged back to the car, and pulled open the passenger side door, “C’mon, she said she’ll fix you up.” Maverick just huffed and looked down at his hands, “Quit being a fucking toddler and get out of the car.”
Maverick complied and got out of the car. He walked up the steps to your front door, finding it slightly ajar, and walked in. You were already laying out first aid supplies on the coffee table, and now you had a sheer robe covering your silk nightgown. Maverick felt bad as he shuffled his feet and sat down on your couch, already knowing this all too familiar drill. You sat down next to him, your knee gently brushing his khaki-clad thigh, as you grabbed his face and turned his head towards you.
“What have I told you about getting into fights?” You asked.
“It was for a good cause,” Maverick gave you that all too sweet signature smirk. But you saw right through it, just like your brother once had, “Some pilots were talking shit about you. I couldn’t just not do anything.”
You nodded your head, reaching forward on the coffee table and getting a cotton ball. You doused it in hydrogen peroxide, then grabbed Maverick’s bloodied hand. He hissed as you touched the cleaning agent to the split skin.
“You realize you can’t punch every aviator who says something bad about me,” You briefly glanced up from cleaning his hand, “It won’t end well for you.”
“It’s a chance I’m willing to take.”
“Well I’m not going to let you,” You sighed, putting the sullied cotton ball on a paper towel. You grabbed a roll of gauze and wrapped it around his hand. Maverick could tell that there was something you wanted to say. You and Goose were the exact same; clenching your jaw and letting out small sighs when there was something right on the tip of your tongue that you wanted to say.
“Just say it,” Maverick said.
You looked up at him for a moment and then back down at his hand, “I put in my resignation letter to Viper.”
“What?” Maverick pulled his hand away from you, “Well. . . go take it back.”
“I can’t.”
“Yes, you can!” Maverick shouted, standing up from your couch, “I quit TopGun and came back, you surely can go take your resignation letter-”
“I’m not going to,” You said calmly. You let out a deep breath and patted the spot next to you for Maverick to sit. He kept his emerald eyes on you as he sat back down. You grabbed his good hand, and held it in both of yours, “I am not going to take my resignation letter back. I realized today when Captain Holloway was yelling at me, that this isn’t what I want to do. I only took the job because it was what Goose wanted. He wanted to get first so he could get the teaching job and have something more permanent for Bradley and Carole. But teaching, being chained to a classroom? It’s just not me.”
Maverick totally understood where you were coming from. He thought so many times about writing his resignation letter, but the one thing that stopped him was you and the feelings he had. But now, he wasn’t so sure if his love for teaching was enough to keep him at TopGun.
“And, normally, I would never ask this of anyone, let alone a fucking guy,” You said and Maverick snapped his head towards you, “But. . . uh. . . come with me?”
“What?” Maverick asked, his jaw slightly open in awe.
“Come with me,” You said, “You hate teaching as much as I do and I don’t think that I-”
You were cut off by Maverick’s lips on yours. You were frozen for only a split second before you kissed him back, your hands going to rest on his cheeks. He pulled back first for air, looking into those eyes that he had known to love so much. But then, it all came crashing down and Maverick realized what he had done.
“Oh my god, Hawk,” Maverick said, getting up from the couch. You tried to ignore the pang in your chest as he walked to the other side of the room, “I’m so sorry. I know that you are with Ice and that was so-”
“Wait, what? What did you just say?”
“That I’m sorry.”
“No, after that.”
“You are with Ice.”
You couldn’t help but burst out laughing at Maverick’s words. You had heard some ridiculous rumors about yourself, but this was definitely a new one. Maverick’s eyebrows furrowed as he watched tears fall down your cheeks as you clutched your belly from laughing so hard. He honestly couldn’t remember the last time he had seen you laugh like this, but it had to have been before Goose died.
“Oh God, Maverick, you are so funny,” You said, wiping a tear from your eye, “Me? With Tom?” You shook your head as more giggles fell from your mouth.
“But after the Indian Ocean-”
“He had one of my gloves in his room, I went to get it back,” You said.
“And tonight? That smirk on your face when he was at the door?”
“I thought he was coming over to watch The Shinning again,” You shrugged, “He obsessed with it and is wearing out my damn tape.”
Maverick cocked his head to the side, “So nothing is going on with you and Ice?”
“Other than his obsession with VHS player.”
“Oh God, I’m an idiot,” Maverick said, shaking his head.
“Yeah, you are,” You responded, “Now come over here and kiss me again.”

Title: Christmas is for Memories
Prompt: Fireplace
Written for @sailor-aviator 's Christmas Writing Challenge! You can find the rest of the list HERE
Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 3200+
Rating: R
Warnings: Swearing, Mentions of Drunk Driving, Character Deaths, Mentions of Deceased family, Death ideation, Bradley is somehow the main character of this fic, Jake's got sisters
The picture stared down at Bradley from it's place atop the mantle. The golden frame highlighting a photograph he's never seen before. Not that he would have. After all, this is Jake's family's house and he is just a last minute addition to the festivities.
Jake all but drug Bradley down to Texas with him, after Maverick and Ice got pulled to the Pentagon for the week of Christmas, pulling both the rug and their plans out from underneath them. So, Maverick and Iceman packed up their dress uniforms and hauled themselves across the country. When Jake got word that Bradley would be the only Dagger not spending the holiday with family, he knew his Mother would have his head if he didn't bring the mustached pilot along with him.
Now, Bradley stands semi-awkwardly in a cozy living room, hands shoved deep into his pockets. The air smells of warm vanilla and fresh pine trees, the Christmas tree decorated to the nines in the corner of the room. There are six presents under the tree, far less than Rooster had been expecting when he walked into the room. The lights twinkle, lighting up the room and fighting off the darkness creeping in through the windows.
Though Bradley keeps trying to look anywhere else, his eyes keep snagging on that damn photograph. There's something about the way Hangman looks in it, smile wide as he looks up at a woman, well, more of a girl really. She's sat in a tree, body tucked into the spaces between a couple of curing limbs of the large oak. Jake's younger in the photograph too, maybe twelve years or so. His hair is longer, the back curling around his neck gently, the top threatening to fall into his eyes. Even though the photograph is black and white, Bradley can still see that damn sparkle in Jake's green eyes.
The girl smiles down at him with so much adoration in her features and it hits Bradley straight in the chest. It's one of those looks that his mother used to give his father, and the way Maverick and Ice look at each other when they think no one is around to see them. Her smile is so damn big, her cheeks round and hued.
A cowboy hat is held loosely between her fingertips, laying over Jake's chest. He leans back against the tree, bracketed by her legs. Her other hand is wrapped around a branch, keeping her body firmly in place as she leans out just slightly to get a better look at her counterpart. Jake, on the other hand, just has his hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans, thumbs hanging loosely over the edge of the pockets.
Though every photograph is a piece of time captured, this photograph seems to hold so much more. Like the moment had been frozen just so, existing more than just to be photographed but because they actually wanted to be there, wrapped up in each other.
The heat from the fireplace spreads over Bradley, soaking in through his clothes. There is no snow in Texas, but there is a bite to the air that he hasn't been able to shake since he walked off of the plane. It's a far cry from a California winter, but this house is far cozier than his back home. He'd forgone decorating, fully prepared to be at his Dad and Pop's place, and their decorations had been up since the week of Thanksgiving.
"What's caught your eye, Sailor?" The sound of Sarah's voice makes Bradley practically jump out of his skin. Sarah, Jake's older sister, holds a plate of plastic wrap covered cookies in her hands, a grin firmly fixed to her lips. It's that signature Seresin grin that Bradley has come to recognize all too easy.
"Aviator, actually," The answer is sheepish, Bradley still reeling with the feeling of being caught looking at something he shouldn't, even though the photograph is proudly displayed on the mantle place.
"I know, I'm just bustin' your balls, kid," Sarah shoots back, her voice nothing but kind. She sets the plate of cookies down on the coffee table before turning her attention back to a cherry red Bradley. "Do you think Jake would let us forget that little distinction?"
The little laugh that leaves Bradley's lips almost surprises him, "No. I don't think he would."
"Seems you wouldn't either, Brad," She nudges him with her elbow, taking up place next to him in front of the fire. "Which one of these oldies caught your eye?"
The wall above the mantle, as well as the mantle place itself is absolutely covered in photographs. They are all mixed together, frames and sizes, ranging from faded with age to almost new. The pair stand in front of the fire for another beat, taking in the heat from the crackling flames as their eyes trace over the photographs. It's then that Bradley begins to find that same girl, again and again, over and over. He's almost dizzy from the way his eyes snap between photographs.
"Oh, what are we lookin' at?" Another woman's voice calls from behind Bradley, same as before. This time, it's Jake's little sister Anna. She bubbles into the room, choosing to stand in front of the fire on Bradley's other side. "God, the photo wall. I swear, Mama's lucky our family is small or she'd run out of room up there,"
The women share a giggle, the sound washing over Bradley in the way Natasha's does. It's all warmth and comfort, the sound of friendship withstanding the test of time. Bradley doesn't laugh, however. He is too stuck looking at photographs of Hangman and the way he lights up the fucking world when he looks at that girl. It makes the pang in his chest hit just a bit harder when he thinks for just a little bit too long. He's never seen Jake smile like that. Not in photographs, not in person. Hell, even when they made it back from the Uranium mission, Jake didn't smile like that. God, there was a bit of pain in his smile, something Bradley still has never been able to place. That smile had been all grateful and surviving, lined with a thin stroke of aching that Bradley just can't fucking shake.
"This one is one of my favorites," Anna points a well polished fingernail up to a small square frame on the wall. Inside, Sarah, Anna, and that mystery girl are all lined up. Sarah and Anna are dressed in formal gowns, deep sea green with hemlines that hit the floor. Their Seresin blonde hair is pinned up from their shoulders, makeup sparkling in the sunlight. The mystery girl is squished between them, her dress stark white and absolutely glittering from all of the sequins. Her hair is down in curls. Her makeup is done but hard to see with her eyes squeezed closed, whole expression broke out in a laugh. Sarah and Anna are laughing too, though their faces are less scrunched up.
"Oh my god, mine too," Sarah laughs, her nose wrinkling a bit. "It was a beautiful wedding, and we got so many pictures but Mama had to hang that one up! Look at me, why is my mouth open so far?" The girls are laughing harder, each grabbing a light hold of Bradley to keep steady.
"Well, at least you aren't blurry!" Anna shoots back, her body slightly hunched over.
Bradley is just about to ask who's wedding it was when Sarah thrusts her finger towards another picture.
"Look, the proposal photo is just as silly. Jake's hands are practically covering up Pip's face!" The girls are laughing again, both still clutching at Bradley's frame. He just leans closer to the photo, trying to get a better look, one with less glare. It doesn't help, really, the photo out of focus anyway. Jake can be made out, standing behind a girl with his hands covering her eyes, well, most of her face, save for her smile. Her fingers are wrapped around his wrists, looking like she's trying to pull Jake's hands from her eyes.
"With how blurry it is, we're lucky we can even tell it's them!" Anna all but howls, wiping at her waterlines with her fingertips as carefully as she can.
"Do you think Mama knows that she picks the worst photos?" Sarah inquires, finally releasing her grip from Bradley's sleeve.
"I think they're nice," Bradley stutters out, his voice so low it almost gets lost in the crackling of the fireplace. "Who is that, anyway?"
He first chances a look to his left, only to wish he hadn't. Anna looks up at him, a look of pain crossing behind her eyes, only to bleed out over he features even as much she tries to hide it. Though, it quickly mixes with anger, and she's spitting out words before Bradley can even decipher the expression that she's settled on.
"That's Pip," She informs him, like that information should be clear as day to him. "Are you blind or something, Bradshaw?"
Bradley's eyes jump over to Sarah in a silent beg for help. He feels like a deer caught in the headlights, or maybe how grandma felt just before her ass was grass at the hands of Rudolf himself.
"No, not blind," Bradley's tongue finally falls on the words, though they taste a bit off on his tongue, "I just don't recognize someone I've never seen before. Hell, I didn't even... I guess I just hadn't... Jake is married?"
The air is sucked out of the room as soon as the fully formed question leaves his lips. Suddenly Bradley feels too hot in front of the fire, or maybe he's too hot from the heated look that Anna is sending his direction. Either way, he feels all sweaty under his Henley, suddenly wishing for that almost forgotten chill of the Texas winter air. He takes a step back away from the fire. And then another. The looks he's getting from the Seresin girls are polarizing. Anna looks almost furious, while Sarah's brows are scrunched together, eyes wandering like she is trying to put a puzzle together in her mind.
Anna steps forward, ready to spit another harsh word Bradley's way, but Sarah catches her by the wrist. The squeeze on Anna's wrist is enough to keep her quiet for just a second longer, long enough for Sarah to get a sentence out,"
"Bradley," His eyes snap back to meet hers, "Has Jake ever mentioned Pippa?"
The air has slowly begun to enter the room again, but Bradley doesn't trust his tongue. It's like being back at the academy again, throat dry while he stands at attention waiting for his uniform inspection. So, Bradley just shakes his head back and fourth a couple of times, firm in his 'no'. He watches as Anna's eyes begin to swim, then as she is quickly folded into her older sister's embrace. Her hand is quickly cradling the nape of Anna's neck, Anna's face tucked right into Sarah's shoulder.
"So, you have no idea who Pippa is. Or that Jake was married?" A small, wet sob is muffled by the material of Sarah's sweater. Her hand runs over Anna's now shaking frame, her own eyes swimming. But she manages to hold it together, keeping her eyes locked with Bradley's.
"Was?" Bradley manages to ask, all but choking out the one word.
The front door slams shut a second later, making the trio jump. There is so much tension in the air, swirling with confusion it's almost stifling.
"Hello Family! Hey Bradshaw, how are you holding-" Jake rounds the corner, only to be met with Bradley's startled expression and Sarah's angry, watery eyes. Anna is still folded into her big sister's arms, crying gently. "Up..." The last word slips from Jake's lips, his head tilting to the side out of confusion. "Is everything okay?"
"Jake Seresin," Sarah starts, more hurt than venom in her voice, but it still makes Jake's heart beat a little faster. "When did you stop talking about Pippa?"
The name makes his heart twist, but the question has his stomach dropping to his knees. He flounders, mouth opening and closing, never settling on a response.
"Hangman?" Bradley tries, but the older man still doesn't meet his eyes.
"You know what, I've gotta," Jake hooks a thumb behind him, "I gotta run into town," He turns on his heel, ready to head back the way he came just moments before.
"Jacob Morris, don't you dare take another step," His shoulders slump at his sister's warning, but he does stop. "Bradley, sit down. You too, Jake," Sarah has gone into full big sister mode now. Bradley listens first, stepping around the coffee table to take a seat on the couch. Jake plops down onto one of the arm chairs a moment later, but refuses to meet his eye. Then, Sarah settles Anna into the matching arm chair before turning to her brother with her hands on her hips.
"So," She begins, hurt in her voice, "Are you going to tell you wingman about your wife, or am I?"
That sentence broke the flood gates, tears falling down each of the sibling's cheeks while Bradley just sat there in the salty silence.
"I met Pip when we were eighteen," Jake croaks out, eyes still glued to the floor in front of his boots. "She was my everything. God, she had the best spirit. So full of love, and she lit up every room. I know everyone says that, but there was just something about her, everyone took notice. I don't know why, but she picked me. We got married at twenty, right before I shipped off to the Academy. Leaving her behind was the hardest thing I ever did. Then, after flight school, she moved out to NSA Pensacola with me. We got our first real go at it, you know, the whole being married thing,"
Bradley hangs onto every word. Each one slow spoken and fully of pain, but he takes them in anyway.
"You know, they say my call sign is due to my flying. Always leaving people hanging in the air, in the battle. But that's not true," A hollow laugh leaves the depths of Jake's chest, "It was because I left everyone hanging at the bar to go home and call Pip before she went to bed. Then it stuck because I would leave right after hops to go home to her. She was my everything. Nothing else mattered to me. It was her and flying and right back to her,"
Jake gets a little choked up, so Sarah squeezes his shoulder. A sign of support.
"When we were twenty six, she came home for Thanksgiving. I was stuck out in the middle of the fucking ocean, so she came home to spend the holiday with family. I told her to, God, I told her to. She always said she missed being in Texas, and we were in Maryland by then. So I told her to drive home for it. Spend as much time as she could here while I was gone."
Tears are slick over Jake's reddened cheeks, hot from crying. He takes another deep, jagged breath before continuing.
"She was killed by a drunk driver a few miles from here. She made that whole drive without a single hiccup, only for some dickhead from a town over to get behind the wheel while shitfaced. I uhh..." The sobs hit him harder, too hard for him to continue to speak.
"The Navy couldn't get word to him for days," Sarah explains, "Communication went dark for their mission a few days before. It was out of all our hands. We waited until she was home to scatter her ashes,"
Jake grips the chain of his dog tags at her words, "Not all of 'em," He pulls them free from his shirt, a small, steal vile hanging beside them. "I still got a piece of her with me, right next to my heart," Then he takes his sister's hand from where it sits atop his shoulder. He squeezes it gently.
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything, Rooster. I just, I guess... " Jake takes another jagged breath, "After Pip died, I got bad. I became reckless, started truly living up to my callsign. Thought if I left people hanging in the air, I might get back to her faster,"
The admission pulls small gasps from his sisters, as well as a deep pang from Bradley's chest. He gets it, he really does. Bradley is the other side of the coin, being careful, too careful. Stuck hoping that if he holds back just a little longer, he will actually be just a second too late, a second closer to seeing his parents again.
Anna reaches a hand out to Jake, and he takes it in his free hand, the trio leaning on each other for support. No doubt in the same way they have had for years now. The sight reminds Bradley of Maverick, Ice, and his Mom. How they used to hold each other up after Goose died. The look the sisters share being so close to the way his Dad and Pops looked at each other after his Mom died. Bradley sees so much of his own life here in this little room.
"Stand up," Bradley almost orders, though his words are still on the side of kind. The lack of context makes Jake finally meet Bradley's face.
"What?" The blond asks through stray tears.
"Stand up, Hangman," And so he does. Bradley pushes himself from the couch, and in two strides is wrapping Jake in his arms. His wingman doesn't flinch away like he was expecting, instead, the blond wraps his own arms around Bradley.
"Thank you for telling me, Jake," Bradley starts, keeping his voice as even as he can. "I, I think you need to hear something, though,"
"I already know I'm a fucking idiot, Rooster," Jake mumbles into his shoulder, the cotton slowly dampening.
"No, it's something Mav used to say to me after my parents died," Jake nods at that, so Bradley continues. "Mav used to say, I know things are hard without them, but you've gotta keep living, because you've gotta have stories to tell them when you meet again,"
"And part of that living, Jake, is talking about your loved ones, present and lost," Sarah interjects, but Bradley nods in agreement.
"I guess you're right," Jake admits as he pulls back from Bradley's embrace to look at him and his sisters. "I should talk about her,"
"Yes, you should" Anna squeaks out, wiping the tear tracks from her cheeks.
"You can start by sitting down and telling me all about her," Bradley points to the seat Jake had been sitting in previously. And so, he does. Jake shares stories all about his wife Pip and their life together. The group of four all squeeze onto the couch after the first story, when Sarah busts out the photo album. And by the warm of the dwindling fireplace, Bradley learns all about Jake's wife, and even shares about his parents, keeping them alive through their stories. It wasn't exactly the night any of them had planned, but it was everything they needed.

masterlist
vi. love on camera
I’ve been with the sky sports people for almost three hours now. My feet are thankful for sticking to a pair of low pump heels instead of running around the paddock and garage with a five inch heel.
And I’ve been thanking myself for dressing well enough today. It doesn’t even look like I’m here as a support for Red Bull. My linen shirt is loosely tucked in my bell-bottom jeans, two buttons are undone to allow the air to flow freely through my body. The Chanel belt hugs me so tight, I feel as if I have little to no oxygen to breathe in. A Red Bull jacket is worn over my shirt, and I left it unzipped as I feel warm.
I had never worked on a full live set before. It was nerve wracking to say the least. But after finding out that my father practically sold me, I feel as if I have nothing to lose. Suddenly I’m worse than a pessimist.
My sisters made sure to tell me that I’m live on television by sending filtered photos of myself. Our youngest sister is the one having the field day with the group chat. She’s been showing her friends that I’m on television. She better be thankful I love her. I never enjoyed being the topic of a discussion. I’ve heard enough from Christian, thank you.
So far, I haven’t thrown up nor fainted. That counts right? That means that my first two interviews went alright. I just have to laugh along. That’s what I did with Fernando and Kimi. They just laughed along, and flirted a little with me.
Or rather, Fernando joked and Kimi flirted; something about going for a drink? Yeah, certainly. The man doesn’t even talk much, but the Iceman definitely suggested we went for a drink (the right words were: “There’s a bar downstairs at the hotel that you may like.”) Fernando’s married and has a nearly year old baby— I would really hate to do something demoralizing.
It turns out, laughing along with their banter will bite me in the ass. Because I know my sisters will be the ones laughing at the television.
The cameras are already recording and I can’t hear myself speaking as I introduce Lewis and Nico Rosberg to the camera as if I’m speaking to an audience. Then I remember talking about the qualifying today, asking Nico about taking the pole for tomorrow.
My words are simply flowing out of my mouth as the interview goes on.
“Are you excited?” Few minutes passed by, I then turned to ask Lewis a question.
“For wha’?” He asks, obviously confused as he zoned out during my conversation with Nico.
“Home race? You coming from Britain and representing the country?” I remind him before joking, “Or did you forget you’re British too?”
“I certainly did,” he realizes what I meant just about now, “but yes. I’m very excited. If the weather treats me right tomorrow, I’m confident that I’ll be able to make it to somewhere of a higher rank.”
“It’s okay, Lewis,” I chuckle, Nico rolls his eyes beside me. “You can say P1. No one’s going to be against that.”
“You want me to get P1?” He teases me.
My face gives an incredulous expression, making him laugh. I joke, “I feel like I’ve told you this a million times now, Lewis. Do you want me to whisper it in your ears while you sleep too?”
“God, no,” he shakes his head with a laugh, “your support is highly appreciated, Tils. I am so glad you’re here.”
“That’s why you should go for P1 tomorrow,” I nudged him, microphone still in hand.
“Only for you, lovely,” he lips pucker up as I roll my eyes and place my flat palm against it. He murmurs against my palm, making people around us giggle.
Nico adds, “I think you shouldn’t appreciate her support that much, mate. She still works at Red Bull.”
Lewis finally pulls away and gives me a mocking dirty look, “Right. I knew there’s something dodgy about you.”
“Thanks Nico, for turning my own best friend against me,” I exclaim in a cheery tone, a smile still in my face as there’s a voice incoming. There he is.
My smile widens, I feel like I’ll have wrinkles at this early age. The space immediately shrunk when Toto stepped into the scene. He stands a few inches taller than me, interrupting his drivers’ interviews.
“And here we have,” I introduce him to the camera and ask him about his thoughts on his drivers’ positions for tomorrow. I absentmindedly nod, looking at Lewis and Nico here and there to avoid being caught staring at the tall bloke. Have you ever seen someone so fit you’d continuously waffle on about them until he gives you the chance to snog you? This certainly isn’t me talking.
“Are you supporting Lewis tomorrow?” He asks me with a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Surely you are, right?”
“I’m wearing a Red Bull jacket, guys,” their voices let out the heaviest laughter I have ever heard. “I’m certainly supporting Lewis, a Mercedes driver, to win tomorrow. Me, someone who’s wearing a Red Bull jacket.”
Then, as I was chatting with the drivers, Toto pulls his sleeves up and takes off his black jacket, the three pointed star and his name embroidered. His outstretched hand holds the jacket in my direction as I pause from talking.
“What, what is this?” I ask, almost playfully. What’s he doing?
“You said you can’t support Lewis because you’re wearing a Red Bull jacket,” Toto shrugs with a cheeky smile, “you can have my Mercedes one. It’s a bit big but so is your jacket.”
“I really am jesting, Toto,” I giggle, watching him pull his hand back with a little smile. “I’ve said that I won’t be playing favourites so I will stick to my neutral place.”
Lewis reaches for the microphone and speaks over it, “She’s lying. She’ll support me regardless of what jacket she wears. Us Brits have to stick together.”
“There you have it, folks,” I gesture at Lewis, “he’s explained it perfectly well. Us Brits have to stick together, indeed. I hope I don’t get banned from my own workplace after this— if I did, thanks Mercedes.”
“Well we told you that we’d be more than willing to take you in,” I look at Toto as he smirks, “it would be a shame for their part if they let you go.”
“You lads flatter me so much,” I roll my eyes mockingly, grinning at the three as I say, “As I said, I’m supporting Lewis because it’s Lewis. I did not say I favour one team over the other.”
“You will, soon enough,” Nico chuckles.
Lewis pulls me in and says, “If I win tomorrow you should do what you have to do.”
“What do I have to do?” I ask him, wondering what he’s hinting at.
He shrugs and whispers to my ear, “Go on a date with Toto.”
I pull back and stare at him for a second. I really considered that huh. As if I hadn’t gone already.
“I have already. So don’t get too cocky, eh,” I tell him, his eyes widening as he eyes Toto for a second, my nudge tells him to stop as I dismiss the matter, “having an ego can get you places. But not P1.”
“Watch me,” Lewis grins at me. Like a piece of shit. His eyes also are asking me to tell him more about what was just revealed. I nod briefly, excited to tell him about it.
“Well,” I look at the camera, “that’s it for today. Tomorrow will be the 9th race of the 2014 FIA World Championship and we cannot wait to see how these drivers perform in such weather conditions. Best of luck to all. My name is Tilly and I hope you have a good night. Thank you once again, guys.”
It didn’t take long until the wires on my body were taken off by Lydia, their media pen assistant. Nico and Lewis had already left. Toto waits for me until I start walking off the scene.
We walk all the way to the motorhomes, silence shared between the two of us.
“You left quite fast earlier,” Toto utters. This is the first time we’ve walked together since earlier this morning, and this is the first time he’s spoken to me after I’ve managed to avoid him hours after the breakfast date. I look at him.
Then I remember walking away from the scene after arriving at the venue. Now I know what to tell him after seeing me speed walk from the sight of him and the journalists.
“Some of the reporters in there were the same people who harass me whenever I’m out and about,” I explain, not wanting to make a big deal out of it as I continue, “I didn’t want to be the centre of the attention today especially now that… yeah.”
“With you interviewing the drivers for Sky Sports, I can assume Christian told you about Julius’ promotion?”
I let out a heavy sigh, shutting my eyes close for a moment as I tuck my hands into the pockets. How do I not lose my shit?
“It’s something Julius needs to speak to me about,” I grimace, “if he wants me to do this then he’ll have to tell me upfront.”
But it’s not like he’ll ever show up. I’ve never seen him since the day I was called to his office building. That was when I was told about this role that I didn’t think would be… important and big.
“He’s a bit more involved than I thought,” I laugh humourlessly, “I don’t even know how to start with it. I don’t know how you do it.”
“You’re just handling however much you can,” he tells me, “Christian and the others are more than happy to help you get a head start. You don’t have to get yourself involved with the engineering and strategy part.”
“I have three degrees,” I deadpan, “three of which have nothing to do with building a car, let alone know the full terminologies. So between my father and I, I think I have less advantage in this field and he’ll most likely fail if I’m the one taking care of it.”
He pauses for a second, making me stop walking as well. My eyes are staring at his dark ones, my brows quirked at his sudden pause.
“You are confident in front of a camera,” he starts, “I think you should be confident with how you will handle the business passed on to you, no?”
“Yeah I suppose,” I sigh, putting my head down as I keep my hands tucked into my pockets. “I need to stop being sad.”
But his chuckle did it for me. That and the way his heavy hand reached to mess with my hair. “Come on, let’s go.”
“Where?” I ask him, looking up at him once more only to witness his eyes twinkling.
“Back to the hotel because we all have a long day tomorrow,” he tells me, “that, and I do not exactly wish to have a conversation with any other people at the moment.”
“Pshh,” I scoff with a grin, nudging him while I wag my eyebrows, “I have heard a lot about you from Christian.”
“Huh? Really?” He asks, his face has a mischievous smile that I’ll never mistake for someone else’s. I’ve seen him smile a lot. It’s quite a shame other people never did. He’s handsome and not many people have seen it. Too bloody blind, if they haven’t.
Or he needs to smile more. But that’ll only scare people off.
“Yeah,” I nod, “something about you deliberately approaching him yesterday?” I raise a brow, still not letting go of my shit eating grin. I then notice the collar of his jacket and reach out to fix it as I playfully say, “Some may say that you’re interested in their acting Liaison.”
“Hmm,” he hums as if he’s considering it, “did I not show you that earlier today at breakfast?”
I burst into a fit of laughter as I shake my head, as if I’m telling him, “Unbelievable.”
Have I ever mentioned that this is happening around other people? People with cameras?
And here I am whining about adding fuel to the fire. It’s quite difficult not to if the man in front of me continues on doing what he does best. Existing.

sugar daddies in the house tonight
Summary: Maverick and Iceman use the Navy Gala to show off and you don’t mind being their arm candy for the evening
Relationship: Iceman x Maverick x Female!Reader
Warnings: none that I can think of
word count: 843
A/N: so this idea has just been brewing in my mind for a while now. This is for @daughterofthereaper02
Masterlist
A Navy Gala. A place where anyone who is anyone in the Navy shows up and brags about their accomplishments. It was a night you dreaded going to because it was so boring, and sometimes you felt like the people you talk to are just talking down to you, instead of talking to you. The only good thing about going to this gala in particular is seeing your boyfriends in dress uniforms. The full white dress uniforms always just did something for you and seeing Tom “Iceman” Kazansky and Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in them just made you want to go feral on them. They said the same thing about you when they first saw you in your dress.
A few weeks prior to the gala, when the three of you were discussing what to wear, they had told you not to worry about picking out a dress, jewelry or shoes. That they would have that covered. You were apprehensive to trust them but after a little persuasion you agreed. The two of them loved to buy you gifts, spending their money to give you the best clothes, jewelry, shoes and anything else you could possibly want. You called them your sugar daddies as a joke once and the joke just stuck around. But you loved them for them as a person and not because they spend all their money on you.
The night of the gala, Iceman and Maverick were shaking with excitement. They wanted to see you all dolled up in the outfit that they had picked for you. Making them wait for you at the bottom of the stairs while you got ready, they agreed that it should be considered a special kind of torture.
As you descended the stairs, there was a gasp and a mumbled holy shit. You were dressed in an all black dress that reached the floor, with long form fitting sleeves, and a square neckline showing off your chest. The red-bottomed heels made you look taller than you were and your hair was pulled back to show off the diamond teardrop earrings that you wore.
“What do you think?” you asked as you gave a little twirl.
“Is it too late to cancel and just go back upstairs to the bedroom?” Maverick asks. Tom and you laugh at Pete’s comment. You gently smack his shoulder and mumble a quick ‘no’ before giving Pete a quick kiss on the lips. Turning to Tom, you again ask him what he thinks of your outfit.
“You look radiant but somethings missing.”
“I thought it would look better with a necklace but you two didn’t give me one so I’m not wearing one.”
Wordlessly Tom hands you a black velvet box. You look between your two men, brows furrowed wondering what could be in the box.
“Open it,” Pete tells you. You gasp in shock as you open it. There was the most gorgeous necklace you had ever seen. It was a diamond encrusted choker, with diamonds dangling down at various heights. Something else caught your eye with the choker.
“Is that, are those your initials inlaid onto this?” you quietly ask.
“Yes so that-” Pete starts.
“So that everyone knows who you belong to tonight,” Tom finishes.
“You didn’t have to do this. This is this is too much, I can’t possibly wear it tonight,” you exclaim.
“We wanted to. Need to show everyone that you're ours,” Tom tells you. You surge forward and kiss him. You pull back from and give Pete a kiss as well.
“We should really get going, cause if we don’t leave now I don’t think we’ll make it to the gala tonight,” You remind them. They let out a sigh and soon Tom is putting the necklace on you and Pete holds your hand through it. Soon they’re both leading you to the car to take you to the gala.
Later that night, Pete and you were slow dancing together, while Tom was stuck at a table talking to a few different admirals and captains. Truthfully, Tom had just been watching you and Pete slow dance together and not paying attention to what was being said. However he started paying attention, when someone started talking about you.
“I’m just saying she’s too hot to be with Mitchell. Any chance you think I could get her to leave with me tonight?”
“She does look really hot tonight doesn’t she?” Tom turns back to the table and looks at the men sitting around it. “Pete and I had a great time picking that dress out for her. We also had a great time customizing the necklace she’s wearing. Even had our initials inlaid into it. Now if you’ll excuse me gentleman,” Tom knocks back the rest of his drink and stands up, “I’m going to go dance with my boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Tom pulls the two of you into his embrace. The three of you stay there, gently swaying to the music, enjoying each other's company and exchanging soft kisses, until the gala is over.

The sun was beating down on Maverick’s back and he had taken his shirt off long ago. All the pilots had, except for Goose, which Maverick had teased him for his dad outfit. Maverick knew he should feel normal, just a bunch of guys having fun, but his eyes were only on Ice.
Ice’s hair glowed in the sun, sweat rolling down his back in rivulets. Maverick wanted to lick it off. Maverick wanted to feel all of him, taste him. And he was sure Ice wanted the same.
They had been playing this game for awhile, dancing around each other, so when Ice brought him behind a building and pinned him against a wall after the game, Maverick wasn’t surprised. This was everything he had wanted and more.
“I want to kiss every inch of your body,” Ice said, eyes scalding him. Maverick didn’t back down under his gaze— he straightened his back and let a smile slip onto his lips.
“Why don’t you?” Maverick asked, looking up at Iceman. Ice copied his grin, teeth sharp and smile teasing. In the summer heat, Maverick felt like he was about to melt.
“Not now,” Ice said, leaning in and kissing where Maverick’s neck met his shoulder. He trailed them down, biting his shoulder and making Maverick groan. Anyone could see them here but he couldn’t care, not with Ice’s hands slipping up his back, bringing him closer.
“I’ll have time later,” Ice continued, letting his hands drag lower and grasp Maverick’s ass. Maverick bucked his hips a little bit, gasping as he felt Ice’s hard-on against his own. Ice’s words were pure sin as he brought their bodies together, removing one hand and working at his belt. Maverick got the message and lowered a hand to his as well, shaking hands working at the button of his jeans. “I’ll have time when you’re in my bed and I’ve fucked you until all you remember is my name. Then, I’ll kiss you all over, mark you up so everyone knows you’re mine.”
Ice removed his cock from his pants and Maverick wished he could get a better view instead of this cramped alleyway. He wished he could see Ice sprawled out in his bed, begging his name. Ice tsked as Maverick’s hands shook and helped him out of his underwear. He spit into his hand and wrapped it around the two of them, Maverick groaning and dropping his head to Ice’s shoulder.
“That’s it, baby,” Ice said, stroking them long and tightly. “Wanna hear you moan my name. Loud enough so everyone knows.”
“Fuck, Ice,” Maverick gasped. His hands traced over the muscles of Ice’s back, dipped below his pants to grab his ass and force Ice’s hips into his. Ice groaned lowly in his throat and started stroking faster, whispering words to bring Maverick closer to the edge.
“That’s it,” he repeated. He thumbed over Maverick’s dick and Maverick’s knees went weak, falling into Ice and trusting him to support him against the wall. “You gonna come for me?”
“Please,” Maverick begged. “Please, Ice, I want—“
“I know,” he shushed him, kissing up Maverick’s neck, leaving bites along the way. “Gonna make you feel so good.”
“Please,” Maverick repeated. He was so close, limbs shaking and gasping into Ice’s neck. Then, it built up to a high, a pressure deep in his stomach, a heat he couldn’t fight anymore. “Oh, fuck, Ice, I’m gonna—“ he gasped.
That’s when Ice cupped his chin, and with eyes blazing only for Maverick, kissed him hard. Maverick came into his hand with a blinding white light behind his eyes, moaning into Ice’s mouth. Ice wasn’t far behind, groaning lowly and stroking himself as he came. They stood there for a moment, panting in each other’s mouths, simply basking in the moment.
“I hope you still keep good on that promise,” Maverick muttered when he caught his breath, and Ice laughed. It was the most beautiful sound Maverick have ever heard.

A Kind Word; Brad Colbert
_____________
Fandom: HBO War; Generation Kill
A/N: Kinda inspired by the shitshow of a week I’ve had. I have been asked a few times for some Brad content, and I had something else started but I wasn’t feeling it so I busted this out last night.
Warnings: none? def more on the platonic side tho
__________
"I fucked up."
You had been so scared to confess, expecting him to berate you. You expected to feel like a disappointment, an idiot, an asshole… all still less than you thought you deserved in that moment.
But he called you none of those. He gently put his hand on your arm and gave it an encouraging squeeze. “Are you alright? Did anyone get hurt?” Sergeant Colbert’s face showed no disappointment or anger.
You shook your head. “No,” you choked out. No one had gotten injured, but it had nearly cost everyone their lives. And you couldn’t shake that.
“Go get yourself cleaned up. Eat something. Then come see me.”
You nodded. You turned on your heel, finally releasing the breath you’d been holding. There was enough strength in you to stave off crying until you got to the showers, where no one would notice the tears.
Hair still wet, you started towards the mess tent, but you could feel eyes on you. Imaginary or not, whispers were enough to turn you around. You kept protein bars tucked away with mementos of home. There, you sat alone—your mind replaying those moments on a loop, giving you the highlights of the worst moment of your military career. Your protein bar, a couple bites shorter, began to stick in your throat. You guzzled water and decided that was enough food for the day.
“L/N?” Colbert’s voice questioned.
You felt your insides clench, like you had been caught red handed. You leapt to your feet, at attention, as if you were a private again.
“Did you eat dinner, Corporal?”
“No, sir.”
“Relax, L/N. You’re not in trouble.”
The tension in your shoulders hardly eased. “I should be.” It came out in a mumble, but not incomprehensible.
“Why is that?”
“Sir, I almost got our people killed today.”
“That happens sometimes. It doesn’t make you any less of a Marine.” He gingerly raised a hand to your shoulder with that encouraging squeeze again. “Or any less of a person. You owned up to your mistake, and I know you’ll use this lesson to do better. I have seen enough to know that not everyone will do that.”
You nodded. The gentleness in his voice was something you weren’t familiar with coming from the Iceman, but it loosened the knot in your stomach. You realized, for the first time, that the man in front of you was capable of more than the often apathetic objectivity his job required of him.
“We’re meant to be in harm’s way. That is what all of this is about, right?” He waited for you to agree. “A good leader makes their decisions to the best of their knowledge with the information they have. That’s all anyone will ever ask of you. Even the most fool-proof, so-called perfect plan can go wrong with one missed detail. Nothing is perfect. We just have to keep fighting.”
“Thank you. I will do my best to put it behind me.”
“I know you will.” He shot you a flash of a smile and a wink of his steely blue eye. It seemed so out of character, but offered a familiar warmth. “Now, let’s go get you a proper meal.” He patted your back. “Let’s go before someone thinks we’re making out in here.”

Enchanted
TITLE: Enchanted PAIRING: Hangman/OC RATING: T CHAPTER: One-shot SUMMARY: Maverick drags his daughter Elizabeth to another Navy function.
[A/N - Inspired by "Enchanted (Taylor's Version).]
Another Navy Ball, another night of interacting with people Elizabeth Mitchell could care less about. She didn’t want to be there, but she did what she always did. Plastered a fake smile on her face and laughed at jokes she didn’t find funny.
Why did she always have to be her father’s plus one?
Her fake smile was replaced with a real one when her father’s wingman walked up to her.
“How are you, pumpkin?” Iceman asked her.
Elizabeth shrugged. Her eyes drifted around the room until they fell on quite possibly the most handsome man she’d ever seen.
His eyes met hers and it was like the room around them faded.
Iceman glanced over to see what had caught Elizabeth’s eye or rather who.
The man started to make his way through the crowd towards them. The man stopped in front of Iceman.
“Admiral Kazansky. I thought that was you.”
Iceman chuckled. “Lieutenant Seresin.” Iceman turned to Elizabeth, who looked completely enchanted by Jake. “Elizabeth, this is Lieutenant Jake Seresin. Lieutenant, this is Elizabeth Mitchell.”
Jake took Elizabeth’s hand in his own and raised it to his mouth to kiss her knuckles. “Ma’am.”
Elizabeth snorted. “Ma’am?”
“I’m sorry. Would you prefer darlin’ instead?”
A shiver went down Elizabeth’s spine hearing his accent. “Darlin’?”
Jake smirked. “What about sugar?”
“I can assure you, I’m anything but sweet.”
“I’ll leave you two to get better acquainted,” Iceman said. He put a hand on Elizabeth’s shoulder. “Don’t break him. I need him to fly tomorrow.”
“I’ll try my best, Ice.”
Iceman slipped into the crowd.
“Let me guess, you’re a pilot,” Elizabeth said.
“Yes ma’am. Graduated top of my class at Top Gun,” Jake told her.
“Is that supposed to impress me? My father went to Top Gun too. Along with Iceman.”
“Anyone tell you that you’ve got a mouth on you?”
Elizabeth sipped her champagne. “None that have lived to tell the tale.”
Jake took the champagne flute from her and drank the last of it. He set it down on the table and pulled her onto the dance floor.
As they danced, Elizabeth tried to catch sight of her father, but he was nowhere to be seen. After a few songs, Elizabeth went to go grab a drink while Jake talked to some of his squadron.
“There you are,” Maverick said, appearing at Elizabeth’s side, “I’ve been looking for you.”
“I was…” Elizabeth turned back to point to Jake, but he had disappeared.
“Are you ready to head home?”
Elizabeth looked around one more time before nodding.
Jake pushed through the crowd, trying to find Elizabeth. He found Iceman standing by the refreshment table. “Where is she?”
Iceman sighed. “They already left.”
Jake ran to the front door just in time to see a car pull out of the parking lot.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
That night, Elizabeth couldn’t sleep.
Did Jake have a girlfriend? He hadn’t mentioned one. He was clearly hitting on her. He wouldn’t do that if he was in a relationship, right?
She couldn’t deny that she was attracted to him. If only she had gotten his number. Then at least she could get to know him better.
When her father entered the room the next morning, she had just fallen asleep. “Do you mind if we stop by the base before we leave? I need to get something from Ice.”
Elizabeth yawned and nodded.
They packed their car and headed to base.
She couldn’t wait to be back in her own bed, but she couldn’t deny that she missed life on base. How something was always happening.
They arrived on base and Maverick headed to Iceman’s office, while Elizabeth wandered around.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Elizabeth heard.
She whipped around and saw Jake standing there in his flight suit, along with another pilot. “Lieutenant Seresin,” she said.
“At your service, sugar.”
Elizabeth blushed at the pet name. “Sugar?”
“You didn’t like ma’am, remember?”
“Who’s your friend?”
“Lieutenant Javy Machado,” the pilot said, “At your service…ma’am.”
“You stayin’ on base?” Jake asked.
“On my way out, actually,” Elizabeth said.
Jake’s smile fell. “Oh.”
“I was…do you…”
Jake’s smirk returned. “Are you trying to ask me for my number, sugar?”
Elizabeth blushed.
Jake pulled his phone out of a pocket and handed it to her.
Elizabeth put her number in and texted herself.
“Will Elizabeth Mitchell please make her way to the main office?” a voice over the PA said.
“I’m so sorry. I have to go,” Elizabeth said. She started to leave, but
Jake grabbed her arm. He pulled her into him and kissed her cheek. “Until next time, sugar.”
Jake gave her a wink and Elizabeth blushed again. Jake let go of her and she hurried back to the main office.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong? You’re all flushed,” Maverick said.
Elizabeth touched her flaming cheeks. “Just hot with all that blacktop out there.”
“What were you doing out there anyway?”
“Admiring the planes. What else?”
Maverick chuckled. “You are your father’s daughter.”
Elizabeth’s cheeks were flushed the entire time home. She couldn’t wait to get home and text Jake.

That's a Kill Part 3 || Jake "Hangman" Seresin
Summary: Y/N Kazansky. The Admiral's daughter. You always had to prove yourself to the boys. The good old boys. You never thought much of any of them, knowing you were better than them. That was until you were called back to Top Gun. You meet Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin who drives you nuts, the first day. You start to fall for the man in front of you as he does the same. Jake meets the family!
A/N: Final part (I think)! I legit had so much fun writing this mini-series. It definitely helped as a writer! Please send in any requests! Hope you enjoy! Also - pretending Ice is completely okay - no cancer
Pairing: Jake “Hangman” Seresin x Y/N, Iceman x Daughter!Reader
Word Count: 5,200+
“Dad, please promise me you’ll be nice.” You stifled a groan as you talked to your dad over the phone.
Long story short. Mav caught you and Jake in a compromising position in the men’s locker room at Top Gun. Jake was called in to consult on a mission. You were both rather excited you’d be working together again, even if it was just for a week.
The two of you had been dating for the last six months. You finally gained the courage to tell your parents after Mav caught you. Mav found you with Jake on top of you getting ready to rip your flight suit off, you begged Mav not to tell Iceman. It was something you had to tell your dad, you and only you.
“I can’t promise anything Y/N.” Dad sounded not so thrilled.
You finally told your dad and family about Jake after Mav gave you an ultimatum. Either you needed to tell Ice within the next few weeks, or he would. You weren’t too surprised when you saw the look of horror cross your dads face when you told him. Tom knew it was a matter of time before you got involved with somebody, but it seemed to come out of left field. There was no warning, you just dropped the bomb on him.
If you thought dad was protective before… he kicked it up a notch after telling him about Lieutenant Jake Seresin. He reviewed all of Jake’s papers, scavenging through them to make sure there was nothing in his file. He asked you about a million questions in regard to him only stopping after you snapped at him. He was concerned, worried that his baby girl could get hurt.
“Dad!” This time you let the groan out, “Please promise me you will try. I really like him.” You admitted, not being the best at coming clean with your feelings. Especially when coming clean meant to your own father.
“Oh,” He paused, “You really like him? That changes things.” He spoke with a dry sarcasm dripping from his voice.
“Please.” You begged, sounding almost desperate.
You could hear him doing something in the background, stopping when you spoke last, “You really like him hmm?” He asked curiously. You seemingly finally broke through to him.
“Yes dad. I really like him. I even love…”
“Nope, stop right there. You can’t say that before I meet the damn kid.” He grumbled as he realized how serious you were about Jake. He didn’t know just how happy had made you over the last six months. Each and every time you saw him you swear you fell more and more in love with him.
“Dad! You can’t go into dinner with that attitude.”
“I’ll go into it however I want.”
You let a sigh out you had been holding in thinking you actually got somewhere with the man, “Dad, I’m 27 years old and this is my first legit boyfriend. Please, please I’m begging you, don’t run him out the door the second you meet him. You and mom were married and had already had Will at this point in your lives.”
He sensed the desperation in your voice and the point you were making, “Alright Y/N, I’ll be on my best behavior.” It was hard for him. His little girl was growing up. He knew you were right though. He had gotten married at 25 and had a kid by the time he was 27. You were here potentially just starting your life. He wanted to laugh knowing it was easier to let you go on that damn mission than it was to know you fell in love with someone.
“Thank you, dad.” You smiled as he finally agreed to your request, “He reminds me of you.”
“Now, wait a damn minute…”
“In a good way dad!” You interrupted him continuing before he could, “He’s one of the best aviators I’ve been around, he makes me better every time we’re in the air. You’d appreciate it, dad. He’s also so sweet to me but such an asshole in the field… reminds me of a certain guy I know.” You grinned realizing how much the two were like. Eerily similar.
Ice smiled hearing your rattle off your favorite qualities of your boyfriend, “He sounds fine.” Tom couldn’t admit it just yet, but you seemed happy with Jake. Genuinely happy. Ice noticed the way you gushed when you talked about him, it was the same way your mom swooned over him.
You laughed hearing your father try and accept it, “He is daddio. So nice. I think you’ll like him.”
“Don’t hold your breath.”
Shaking your head you continued, “As long as you try. That’s all I’m asking.”
“Then that’s what you’ll get.”
You suppressed the squeal you wanted to give him knowing it’d just irritate him, “Thank you dad!”
“Of course, sweetheart. Now, when can we expect you two?” He paced back and forth feeling slightly anxious at the prospect of you bringing a man into his home.
“Six still work? Jake gets off around four today.”
“That works.”
Doing a mini happy dance you replied to him, “Perfect. Can’t wait. See you tonight! Love you.”
“Love you too Y/N.”
Hanging up the phone you realized what you just gotten yourself into. You were bringing Jake Seresin to the admiral’s house. Your own fathers home. This was the final stamp of approval from the people you love in your life, your mom and dad. Mav was floored but thrilled when he caught you two. Phoenix couldn’t get enough of it. Although she never really believed you when you would tell her how loving Jake really was. Bradley was confused but happy for the pair. You just had to introduce him to your family now, no pressure or anything.
Walking through your apartment door you settled on the couch after a long day of flying. These Top Gun pilots were putting you through the ringer. You could never let your mask slip at work, you always had to be on at work. So, these moments where you could just sit and not think? Heaven.
You were pulled from your thoughts when the front door clicked open revealing your handsome boyfriend, “Hi.”
“Hello gorgeous girl.” He walked over to you throwing his head in your lap, legs sprawled out along the couch, “Rough day?” He asked as you absentmindedly played with his hair.
“Yeah, I have to deal with twenty Jake Seresin’s all day. Cocky arrogant aviator assholes.” You replied earning a hearty grin from Jake. You swore you’d never grow tired of those dimples. You couldn’t believe just how lucky you were to have him.
“They sound incredible.” He smiled even further if that was possible.
Rolling your eyes, you tried to lightly shove him off of you. He didn’t budge, “We’ve got to get ready for dinner.” You said as you tried to get him to move.
His smile dropped almost instantaneously, “With your dad?”
“And mom!”
Jake clicked his tongue attempting to play dumb with you, “Did I agree to that?”
Nodding you wrapped your arms around him, “You did, yesterday.” You bopped him on the nose earning a groan from the man.
“Are you sure?” He asked rolling his face into your thigh, hiding away.
“Mhmm.” You grinned down at him adoring how comfortable he was with you. You learned quickly that Jake was a physical touch kind of guy. If he wasn’t holding your hand, he had an arm around you should or on you back. It was an adjustment for you, but you’ve grown to love it, craving his touch, “Is that okay?”
“I guess.” He said softly while rolling back over to look up at you, “You’re so pretty.”
“And you’re changing the subject.” A light flush showed on your cheeks. Even after six months with him the simplest compliments still sent your heart into a frenzy.
He brushed his thumb over your cheek, “I like making you blush.” You could’ve melted right then and there with the look he was giving you. You knew how in love he was with you as his eyes gave him right away. He looked at you with the most admiration you’ve ever seen, like you were his world.
“You’re very good at it.” Giggling you too looked at him with the most admiration. You were officially a sucker for Jake Seresin.
It was scary at first, falling for him. He made it so easy for you. Truly, he was the perfect gentleman. You never opened your door, never pumped gas, always had a fresh set of flowers and were constantly showered in compliments. It was downright impossible not to fall for him as fast as you did. How could you not?
“I love you.” He said as he shifted off your lap but still sitting right next to you, “So much.” He took his hand, gently wrapping it around the back of your head pulling you closer to him. He wanted a kiss, and you’d happily oblige.
You really did live for these moments with him. These sweet romantic moments that happened in the comfort of your own homes. You and Jake technically still had separate places of residence, but he was at your apartment almost every day and night. He initially claimed it was closer to work (it was not) but you’d never say anything, you loved having him around.
“And I love you, so much.” You spoke after parting from the kiss. Resting your head on his forehead you continued, “You know who else will love you?”
He snuck in another quick kiss before replying, “Who?”
“My father.”
You felt the breath of air he let out, “I don’t know about that one sweetheart.” He sat back in his seat thinking all too hard.
“What’s got you worried?” You turned his head to look at you.
“Well for one you’re his daughter, his pride and joy. And two he is the Admiral of the Pacific Fleet.”
Nodding you snuggled into him this time, “He’s just dad.”
Jake chuckled, “He’s your dad darling.”
“Don’t worry, I already buttered him up.”
“Okay,” He kissed your forehead, “If you think it’s time to meet the parents then let’s do it.”
Grinning you threw yourself on top of him squeezing him into a hug, “Thank you Jake.” Whispering into his ear you felt a small shiver in response from him.
“Anything for you baby.” He squeezed you back, “I need to go shower again.”
You ignored him only holding him tighter not wanting to let go just yet. He continued, “If you don’t get up, you’re just coming with me.”
“Is that a promise?”
“Oh sweetheart, I’d never lie to you.” Smirking he lifted you effortlessly with him off the couch. You wrapped your legs around his torso. You felt him laughing as you kept your head tucked in his shoulder, “To the shower we go.”
You squeezed his hand lightly when you made it to the front door of your parents’ home, “You ready?” You asked him, wanting to make sure he was okay.
“As I’ll ever be.”
You rang the doorbell feeling weirdly calm knowing your mom would likely answer. She did. She always did.
“Y/N!” She wrapped you up in the biggest mom hug, “It’s so good to see you.”
“Hi mom.” You hugged her back with just as much vigor. You felt so blessed to have two loving parents that actually still loved each other.
She turned eyeing your boyfriend up and down sending you a nod of approval, “And you must be Jake.”
“Yes ma’am.” He nodded his head towards her, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Kazansky.”
“Oh, call me Sarah.” She patted his arm before opening the door for you two, “Dad is in his office, he’ll be out shortly. Make yourself at home Jake.” She smiled at him before heading back into the kitchen.
You grabbed his hand, “Not so bad.”
“Yet.” He chuckled softly, “Your mom is lovely darling.”
“I agree, let’s go see if she needs any help.” You pulled him into the kitchen watching your mom chop some vegetables up for the salad.
Jake spoke up before you could, “This is a beautiful home, Sarah.”
“Thank you, Jake,” She smiled as she continued chopping, “The Navy does have its benefits.”
“That it does indeed.” He concurred with her. You didn’t try and stop the smile seeing the two of them converse. It seemed so normal. So domestic, “Need any help?”
“Oh no Jake.” She turned to you, “Y/N, show him around. Dad will be out shortly.”
You nodded grabbing his hand again, “Follow me!”
The two of you ended up in your childhood bedroom. Your mom wouldn’t let dad change it at all so Jake was seeing your true childhood bedroom in all its glory, purple walls and all. He plopped down on your bed taking in the surroundings, “This is cute.” He smirked.
“Don’t even start Lieutenant.” You eyed him giving him a playful glare.
Throwing his hands up in mock defense he stood up and wrapped you in hug, “Sorry sweetheart.”
“Suck up.” You hugged him back, “C’mon, let’s go. You’ve got to meet my dad.”
Lazily smiling he nodded, “Your wish is my command darling.” He let you pull him back throughout the house only pausing at the kitchen entryway spotting your dad next to his wife. Gulping he took another small step forward standing just behind you.
“Hello sir.” He gave dad a curt nod unsure of what to do next.
You gave dad a look, one that told him to play nice.
“Hangman. How’d you get that call sign?” Your dad eyed him harshly, something he usually only reserved for when he was angry. You shot him a wide-eyed look trying to diffuse the tension your father unnecessarily added. Straight to the questions. You shouldn’t have expected anything less.
You had never seen Jake so nervous before, Ice was quite an intimidating man. You squeezed his arm urging him to respond, “Well sir I…” He stuttered eliciting another squeeze from you, “I suggested playing hangman as an icebreaker when the squadron first met… sir.”
Tom narrowed his gaze, “That’s it.”
Nodding quickly, Jake smiled softly, “That’s it.” You could feel a small amount of tension release from him. So far, not so bad you thought.
“So, dad.” You tried your best to change the conversation, “Anything coming down the line? Any secret missions?”
Your dad huffed, “None that I can tell you about.” He finally broke the stare down on Jake. His demeanor changed as he turned to you. His gaze softened as he returned to dad, not the admiral, “Come here, give your old man a hug.”
Walking over to him, you gave him a tight squeeze, “Be nice.” You whispered to him, only your mom hearing.
He pinched your arm lightly letting you know he got the message, “Good to see you kid.”
“Likewise.” You punched his shoulder before returning back to Jake. Noticing how tense he was you smiled brightly at him, settling yourself in front of him again.
“Jake,” Your mom chimed in sensing the slight tension in the room, “Y/N tells us you’re a pilot as well?”
“Yes ma’am.” His southern drawl comes through ever so slightly making you weak at the knees, “Strike Fighter Squadron 151, the Vigilantes. Although, I do miss being a part of the dagger squad.” He smiled down at you softly almost forgetting your parents were right there.
“I heard all about it.” Your mom laughed recalling the yelling match between you and Ice. He was obviously furious when you got back from the mission even going so far as to threaten to ground you, air wise. You almost let him get the better of you, but you forced him to understand your reasoning. He understood why you went back to help Mav, but he didn’t agree with it. Of course, he loved Maverick, but you were his daughter he’d always pick you over him.
“Jake saved our asses.” Reaching behind you, you found one of his hands. You ran your fingers up and down the back of it hoping it brought him comfort.
“Shouldn’t have been in the situation to begin with.” Ice grumbled taking a seat at the table.
Shaking your head you replied, “We’ve already gotten into this dad. No need to bring it up again.” Sitting down across from him you sent him a look of irritation.
Your dad shot you a small smile knowing how badly you wanted this to go well. You motioned for Jake to come join you at the table.
Ice turned his attention to your boyfriend, “Hangman. What are your intentions with my daughter?”
“Dad!” You placed your hand on Jake’s thigh knowing it’d help, even just a bit.
He shrugged, “It’s a question Y/N.”
Jake leaned forward looking confident once again, “Sir, would you like the honest truth or the one I’m supposed to tell you?”
Your dad eyed him curiously, “The truth.” Mom made her way over sitting down next to her husband.
Jake smiled at her before turning back to Ice, “I intend to marry your daughter, sir.”
Your head snapped in Jake’s direction giving him a bewildered look. You hadn’t spoken about marriage with him. That topic was so far off your mind it didn’t even seem conceivable, yet. Your mom looked over the moon for just having met him. Ice nodded his head slowly observing Jake not expecting that answer.
Jake smiled down at you fondly seeing your shocked expression. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder pulling you into him, “Sir. I know you don’t want to hear this. But I’m so in love with your daughter. I would do anything for her. She’s made me the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. And my momma always told me you never let a good thing go. Y/N here… she’s the best thing. The best thing that’s ever happened to me. I have every intention on settling down, marrying, and starting a family with your daughter. If she’s okay with that.” Thankful that Jake was holding onto you, you looked up at him seeing that he was nodding at you. Confirming what he said. He had every intention of making you his wife.
You were convinced your heart might just beat right out of your chest. You were wholly not prepared for Jake to lay it down like that. To put his intentions out there in front of your mom and dad. Sure, the two of you talked about the future but for Jake to put it all out there like that? With such certainty? So much was going through your head you hardly heard you dad start speaking again.
Ice leaned back in his chair, your mom watching him expectantly, “Well Lieutenant. You seem to have the right intentions. I just need you to show me now.”
“Absolutely sir.” Jake beamed as he grew in confidence gaining a little respect from the Naval Admiral. Jake looked up to your father. Admitting what he just had to him was no easy task, but he needed to. Jake needed Ice to know just how much he adored you
You still hadn’t managed to find the right words to continue the conversation with the three of them. He wanted to marry you? He wanted to make you his wife? He wanted to have kids with you? You can’t imagine what you’ve done so right in your life to deserve the love you got from Jake, but you were so beyond thankful you had it.
“Isn’t that right Y/N?” Your mom asked.
“Oh sorry, what was that mom?”
She grinned seeing the realization of what Jake had said to your father come across your face, “I was just saying you seem happy.”
“I’m happy.” You broke eye contact with mom opting to look back up at Jake, “Very happy.”
“Let’s eat.” Your dad interrupted the moment, clearly uncomfortable with all of the emotions flying around.
Throughout dinner you saw that both your father and Jake seemed to relax a bit as casual conversation flowed, rather easily. The steak your mom made being a hot topic of discussion. Your fathers looks softened substantially throughout the meal. He even cracked a few jokes with Jake, joking with him about his call sign. Your dad definitely assumed the worst when he heard it.
After another bottle of wine split between the group the laughter started. A permanent rose shade graced your cheeks after your third bottle. Before you knew it the two couples had sat there talking, eating, and drinking for two hours. You thought the dinner would go okay. But this was more than you could have wished for. Your dad had warmed up to him quicker than anyone you had seen before.
“Jake.” Your dad smiled over to him. You grinned watching the interaction between them beyond thrilled dad had used his first name.
“Yeah?”
He leaned forward after setting his napkin on the plate, “Nightcap in my office?”
Jake nodded, “Absolutely.”
You were smiling so hard your cheeks started burning. You gave his thigh a squeeze before he stood up, following your dad away from the kitchen. He shot you a wink before he left fully.
You and your mom cleaned up before settling in the living room, “You didn’t tell me it was this serious Y/N.” The smile on her face was something to see. You could tell how excited she was. She had wanted you to get out there and live a life outside of the Navy, which included dating. It was never a priority for you and your mom knew that. But after hearing what Jake had to say and seeing how he dotingly looked down at you she knew Jake was special.
You turned to her grinning from ear to ear, “He’s never said that before. I don’t think I realized how serious it was.” You admitted to her.
“He’s in love with you Y/N. Very much in love with you. Anybody can see it, even your father. I didn’t tell you this, but he approves so far. Jake’s little speech made quite the impression.”
Eyes wide you continued looking at her, “Really?”
She nodded her head, “Dad just wants the best for you sweetie. For you to be happy. You glow when you’re around him. He seems to be what’s best for you.”
You scooted closer to her on the couch laying your head on her shoulder, “I love him so much mom. He’s so good to me. He treats me better than anybody has. I just… I love him.”
She smiled softly brushing a strand of hair out of your face, “I’m so happy for you. It’s quite the feeling, isn’t it?”
“It’s the best feeling in the world.” You agreed with her.
The two of you continued to chat for the next thirty minutes or so before Jake and dad returned from his office. The two of them had smiles on their faces as they joined you and mom in the living room. You couldn’t describe the feeling seeing your dad smile at your boyfriend like that, like he was already part of the family.
“Ready to go home sweetheart?” Jake asked still standing, “Early morning at Top Gun.”
You nodded kissing your mom on the cheek. You gave your dad a big hug whispering, “Thank you dad.” In his ear before releasing him from your grip.
“Anytime. I’ll call you tomorrow.” You dad kissed you on the head before giving a brief nod to Jake.
“Jake, it was nice to meet you. Keep making my daughter happy.” Dad stuck his hand out for Jake to take.
Jake shook his hand with a newly found confidence, “I have no other plans, sir.”
The ride home was filled with comfortable silence. The night shifted into one you could’ve only dreamed of with Jake laying his heart on the line like that. You know your dad was impressed. The way he began to smile more throughout the dinner and asked Jake genuine questions made your heart soar. The two most important men in your life met each other and got off to a really good start.
Holding his hand you turned to him, “Dad likes you.”
He didn’t take his eyes off the road but ran his thumb along your finger, “You think?”
“I know. He stopped treating you like a Lieutenant and started treating you like Jake, my handsome hunky Naval aviator boyfriend.”
He laughed at your response, never failing to love your personality, “Well that’s good.”
“It’s more than good!”
You saw the tension release from his body, “I was so nervous.”
“I know.” You leaned down to kiss his knuckles, “But you did so good baby.”
Squeezing your hand he replied, “And your mom?”
“She loved you the second you stepped foot into the house.”
He didn’t hide his beaming smile as he continued to look ahead on the road, never daring to take his eyes off the road when you were a passenger, “They’re great people.”
“They really are. I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I get to have them, and I get to love you. I don’t need anything else.” You didn’t want to ask him what they talked about back in your dad’s office, maybe another time. You were riding out a high nothing could vanquish.
Jake felt his heart rate pick up at your vulnerability. Truth be told he wasn’t planning on his little monologue earlier but when he had Ice’s eyes on him like that he had to. He had to express just how important you were to him. He knew very early on in the relationship that you’d be the one he was going to marry. Jake’s grandma gave him a ring after divulging all the details to the family. He was planning on getting it refurbished once he knew what style of ring you liked.
He wasn’t planning on proposing to you anytime soon but after tonight? All bets were off. Practically, he knew he needed to wait another six months for the optics of it all. It wouldn’t look good proposing to you only six months in, but did he want to. He would wait because he didn’t want to make you uncomfortable. But if you wanted to get married tomorrow at the courthouse, he’d be all in.
You two were well out of the honeymoon phase and only seemed to grow closer with each passing day. Your love grew and then grew some more. You wanted to be around him all the time, touching him some way all the time.
“You’re the sweetest girl I know.” He brought your hand to his lips, kissing it softly, “I have everything I need too. You’re it Y/N.”
He pulled into your driveway shutting the car off. Quickly hopping out to get the door for you. Hand in hand the two of you walked inside not being able to take your eyes off each other.
“You really want to marry me?” You asked him feeling all sorts of emotions. You needed to ask him, to make sure what he confessed was true. You knew it was true, but you desired to hear it.
He closed the minimal distance between you two, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead, “I want to marry you sweetheart. So, fucking bad.”
“And start a family?” Your head was swimming in all the thoughts you had. Jake was a straight shooter. He didn’t have anything to hide from you anymore. This is what he wanted, and he needed you to know it, desperately hoping you felt the same.
He nodded placing a kiss on your cheek, hands on your shoulders, “I’d love to have kids with you Y/N. As many as you want.”
“Really?” Feeling your legs beginning to tremble you leaned into him for some stability. Of course, the two of you expressed just how much you loved one another. But this? This was a life changing conversation. This, quite literally, left you weak at the knees. There’s nothing more that you could’ve asked for.
He placed a gentle kiss on your other cheek, “Yes sweetheart. I want to do everything with you. I want to build a life with you.”
“How many kids do you want?” You questioned again all of this starting to feel like too much. In the best way, of course.
Grinning he placed a kiss on your nose, “I think three is a good number.”
“Three kids.” You bit your lip taking it all in. It was easy to imagine a future with him. Three little blond-haired babies running around sounded like a dream. Three of him.
“Three of you.” He smiled placing a kiss right on your lips.
“And you.” You kissed him back as you ran your hands up his neck to his hair, deepening the kiss as you pulled him closer. He let a soft groan out. You knew what you were doing. Jake was a sucker for your hands in his hair.
“You’re killing me darling.” He whispered right in your ear. Jake also knew what he was doing. For as much as you knew about him, he probably knew double that about you.
Smiling you batted your eyelashes just how he liked. You knew Jake through and through knowing what set him off, “I’d love to have three babies with you Lieutenant.” You continued to run your hands across his hair eliciting another moan from the man.
“Yeah?” He asked as he pulled your waist into his body.
“Hell yeah Jake.” You whispered into his ear feeling just how excited he was, bodies sandwiched together.
“What do you say then Kazansky, should we practice making some babies?”
Nodding your head eagerly you replied, “That sounds very enticing Seresin.” You leaned up to kiss him again.
Smirking he kissed you back right before he picked you up, “Hey!” You laughed clinging to him like you had previously in the day.
“I can’t have my sweet girl walk all the way to the bedroom, now can I?”
Giggling and shaking your head it hit you how damn happy you were. How lucky you were to find Jake when you did. From the outside looking in people might’ve thought you two were moving too fast, but it felt so right to you. You had never been so sure of anything, other than becoming a pilot, when it came to loving Jake. He made you feel like the absolute luckiest girl in the world.
“I love you, Jake.” Kissing his neck, you loved to see how he reacted to your touch. You always managed to get a shiver or chill out of him.
“And I love you. Let me show you just how much I do.” Smirking, he winked down at you hightailing it for your room.

Neon Lights
Requested: yes
Summary: You and your boyfriend go roller skating.
Word count: 0.7k
Note: Join the celebration!
Warnings: none
Pairings: Tom ‘Iceman” Kazansky x fem!reader
“What size?” The man behind the counter questioned. You and Ice had decided that roller skating was the perfect idea for a date night. He was on leave for a few weeks so the both of you were trying to take advantage of his time off. So, in a split-second decision, you had decided to go roller skating. You were glad that at 10 o’clock on a Friday night, they were still open.
The employee standing in front of you looked as if he had seen better days. He stared at the two of you blankly, his voice clearly giving away that he couldn't wait to finish helping you. You could see your boyfriend's jaw tense. After you gave him your shoe size you hid your amused smile behind your hand, turning to stare up at Ice. He only rolled his eyes fondly. Moments later you had your roller skates. The man behind the counter passed Ice his change before the two of you walked away.
You and Ice sat down on one of the benches to change your shoes. Once you were finished you stood up taking a second to regain your balance before setting some of your belongings down on the unclaimed table nearby. Ice walked up behind you as you set your jacket on top of your purse. His arms wound around your waist causing you to jump slightly. “Ready baby?” He murmured into the skin of your neck. You nodded, following after him as he headed toward the rink.
Your hand was slotted into his as you skated around the rink. There were hardly any other people in the building. You and Ice took advantage of that. Just as you were making another lap of the rink he pulled you into the middle, twirling you around before pulling you back into his arms. You stared up at him as he did. There was a broad smile wretched across his face and a warm look in his eyes. You found comfort in the look, reveling in the dimple displayed on his cheek. One that other people rarely got the pleasure to see. You smiled up at him, staring into his eyes and allowing yourself to get lost in them. When he noticed his smile softened, fingers rubbing over your lower back.
The pair of you remained like that, you wrapped in his arms as you simply stared at each other. The few other people in the rink skated past you. With one hand, Ice reached up and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear, causing a warm blush to rise on your cheeks. He grinned down at you. Ice thought you looked beautiful. The changing neon lights of the roller skating rink cast a wonderful glow over you. Your eyes seemed to stand out even brighter under the bright lights.
You snapped him from his daze by tugging on his hand, watching him with a teasing smile. He only grinned back at you, not embarrassed in the slightest that you had caught him staring at you. Ice pressed one last kiss to your forehead before the two of you resumed skating. Ice followed you as you led him around the rink.
Everything was going perfectly fine until you suddenly tripped, a loud gasp escaping your lips. Your boyfriend moved quickly, arm winding around your waist before you could hit the ground. Once Ice had stabilized you he moved to be in front of you, checking you over religiously for any injuries. You laughed quietly, bringing a hand up to rest on his cheek. “I’m fine, Ice.” Offering him a reassuring smile, you leaned up to press your lips to his cheek, kissing it softly.
Your boyfriend nodded softly, eyes running over you one last time. Tugging on his hand, you pulled him along with you as you continued skating. Ice smiled softly behind you, squeezing your hand three times gently. You returned the gesture with a wide smile. You sped up in front of him, letting go of his hand and racing him around the rink. With a soft laugh, Ice followed right behind you.

Katie, congrats on your milestone !! <3 I don’t think that sub rosa Bradley would ever actually be this ballsy—lest Iceman might literally kill him—but please indulge me for a second 😂 I can’t stop thinking Bradley fingering lil Kazansky under the table at a family dinner because she’s been teasing him all day before they had to go to her parents’ house. The whole family is there along with Mav and Penny. Bradley’s hand slowly creeping up her thigh, discreetly making its way under her dress and making her breath hitch, nearly choking on her drink, his movements painfully slow so as not to alert anyone of what’s going on, but also to punish her for teasing him, and stopping right before she can reach her high and leaving her a flustered mess :)
- @sugarcoated-lame 🥰🫶🏼🫶🏼
She’s a tease at the best of times but this past weekend, when all of them have been invited to her father’s lake house for the Fourth of July weekend — she has been an absolute menace.
Asking him to reapply the sunscreen on her shoulders, pushing her ass back against him as he had.
Looking him dead in the eyes, ice-cream on her lips, being extra slow to lick it back off.
Falling into bed last night wearing not a stitch of clothing, claiming that it would just be too warm otherwise — knowing that these old beds creak and her family were right down the hall.
Today, he has been avoiding her as much as he can and being an excellent future son in law. Her mother is really starting to warm up to him, and Mav always tries to vouch for his good character so that’s a bonus too.
Becoming an expert at this game now, Bradley makes it impossible for her to get him alone all day. So, she takes matters into her own hands. He’s sitting out on the back porch on the left of Thomas Kazansky when his phone buzzes with a text message from her. He should know better but he opens it out of instinct.
Bradley almost chokes on his beer at the sight of a picture that he took himself suddenly appearing on his own screen. It’s her, on her back in his bed. Bathed in the glow of his lamp, completely naked and her eyelids heavy with lust, not sleep. His fingers are in her mouth, his cum is coating her tits, and his still hard cock is just between her legs.
Her face isn’t in it completely, but either way Bradley’s first instinct is almost to toss his phone into the lake rather than get caught looking at a photo like this by his future father in law. And boss. Fuck, he forgets that Ice is his boss.
He shoves his phone into his pocket and turns his head, watching her lift her head and smile sweetly over at him from where she is playing with her nieces.
Bradley has tried to let go of the grudges he holds, and he’s working on telling himself that retaliation isn’t worth it. But today, she needs to learn.
He settles in beside her at dinner. It’s nice, a candlelit meal on the back porch, overlooking the lake with everyone that they love most in the world. Bradley slips his hand into hers, lifting her hand and kissing her knuckles softly.
To everyone else, he looks like the perfect gentleman as he brings their hands under the table and squeezes hers softly in his. He grabs his beer and takes a calm sip as he uncurls his fingers from hers and digs them into her thigh.
Her eyes widen. She bites her cheeks immediately. She was beginning to wonder when he would break.
Conversation carries on around them. Bradley is polite and engaged as his fingers dip under that pretty little skirt of hers and circle her clit until she’s soaking the pads of his fingers through her underwear.
She always fidgets so much when he’s touching her like this. She sips nervously at her wine glass, reaching down and curling her fingers around his wrist.
“Bradley,” She leans across to him, frowning softly. “I — I can’t… in front of all these people.”
“Feels like you can.” Bradley answers her, his face as calm as if they were talking about the weather. His fingers ditch her clit abruptly, making her jolt towards her wine glass. She grips his wrist tightly as he sinks two fingers into her at once.
Her eyes are ablaze — she loves when he takes charge like this, but god she wishes they were anywhere but here. She swallows softly, turning her head to stare at her silverware as his fingers curl into the plush of her walls, white knuckling the edges of her chair.
Her stomach grows tighter and she’s the furthest thing from engaged. Bradley’s deep in conversation with her sister, listening tentatively as he fucks his fingers in to her. Finally, she grabs at his wrist and squeezes tight. He pulls his fingers from her and relents, giving her thigh a soft squeeze.
“Are you going to behave now?” Bradley asks calmly, taking a swig of his beer. She swallows, then gives a shake of her head, wetting her lips with his tongue.
Bradley’s cock twitches in his pants as she turns her head to look at him, eyes serious.
“Meet me inside in three minutes.” She breathes out, excusing herself politely before he’s got a chance to argue. Bradley exhales softly, lips quirking to himself as he takes another drink. Really, he wouldn’t have this any other way.
