why does a desert cooler better on a hot day
When the scorching heat of summer hits, we all look for ways to stay cool and comfortable. While air conditioners are a popular choice, desert coolers offer a compelling alternative, especially in places like Dubai.
So why does a desert cooler fare better on a hot day? Well, it all comes down to how they work. Unlike traditional air conditioners that rely on refrigerants and complex mechanisms, desert coolers use a simple yet effective process called evaporative cooling.
Dubai's high temperatures and dry climate make it an ideal environment for evaporative cooling. As the hot air is drawn into the cooler, it passes through water-soaked pads. The water evaporates, absorbing heat from the air and lowering its temperature. The cooled air is then circulated back into your space.
Not only are desert coolers more energy-efficient compared to AC units, but they also provide natural humidity to combat dryness in the air – something that can be quite beneficial in Dubai's arid climate.
If you're looking for AC maintenance services in Dubai or considering alternative cooling options, don't overlook the advantages of a desert cooler on those scorching hot days. It may just be the perfect solution to beat the heat while keeping your energy bills in check.
When it comes to beating the heat on a scorching hot day, a desert cooler can be your best friend. Unlike traditional air conditioners, desert coolers offer a more cost-effective and energy-efficient cooling solution. Plus, they come with the added benefit of being low maintenance.
In places like Dubai where the temperature can soar to unbearable levels, having reliable AC maintenance services is crucial. Desert coolers require less frequent servicing compared to AC units, making them a popular choice among residents.
Not only do these coolers help keep your space cool, but they also help maintain optimal humidity levels. They work by drawing in hot air from outside and passing it through water-soaked pads, which then cools down the air before circulating it indoors.
So if you're looking for an efficient and budget-friendly way to stay cool in Dubai's heat, consider opting for a desert cooler. With proper maintenance from trusted AC service providers in Dubai, you can enjoy refreshing temperatures without breaking the bank.

How to Make Ice Last in a Cooler?
Tumblr media
When it comes to keeping your beverages and perishables cold during outdoor adventures, picnics, or camping trips, the longevity of your ice is crucial. Understanding how to make ice last in a cooler can make a significant difference in ensuring that your items stay chilled for an extended period. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore practical tips and tricks to maximize the lifespan of your ice in a cooler. Also see Can you use dry Ice in a Cooler.
Choosing the Right Cooler:
Before diving into the specifics, it's essential to start with the basics. The type of cooler you use can significantly impact the retention of ice. Invest in a high-quality cooler with proper insulation. Look for features such as thick walls, a well-sealed lid, and quality construction materials. A cooler with a good seal prevents warm air from entering and cold air from escaping, maintaining a consistently low temperature inside.
Pre-Chilling Your Cooler:
Boost the cooling efficiency of your cooler by pre-chilling it before adding the ice. A day before your trip, place the cooler in a cold environment or use ice packs to bring down its internal temperature. This simple step helps the ice last longer by reducing the initial effort required to cool the contents.
Use the Right Type of Ice:
Not all ice is created equal. Larger ice blocks or ice packs generally melt more slowly than small ice cubes. Consider using a combination of ice sizes to create a thermal mass that helps maintain a colder temperature inside the cooler. Additionally, block ice tends to last longer than crushed or cubed ice.
Layering Technique:
Strategic layering of your items can contribute to better insulation. Place items that need to stay coldest at the bottom of the cooler, closest to the ice. This prevents warmer air from rising and affecting the temperature of the entire cooler.
Pack Items Properly:
Efficient packing is crucial for maintaining the cold chain. Pack your cooler tightly to minimize air gaps, using a combination of ice packs, items that need to stay coldest, and any additional insulation materials like towels or foam. This minimizes heat transfer and helps the ice last longer.
Limit Opening Frequency:
Every time you open the cooler, warm air enters, and cold air escapes. To maximize ice retention, limit the frequency of opening the cooler. Plan ahead and organize items so that you can quickly access what you need without prolonged exposure to the warmer outside air.
Keep it in the Shade:
Direct sunlight can significantly accelerate the melting of ice in your cooler. Keep the cooler shaded to reduce exposure to the sun's rays. Consider using a reflective cover or placing the cooler under a tree or other shelter to maintain a cooler internal temperature.
Ventilation Matters:
While keeping the cooler in the shade is essential, adequate ventilation is equally important. Ensure that there is enough airflow around the cooler to dissipate heat. Avoid placing it directly against a hot surface, as this can compromise its insulation properties.
Utilize Insulating Materials:
Enhance the insulation of your cooler by using additional materials like blankets, towels, or foam. Wrap the cooler with these insulating materials to create an extra barrier against external heat. However, be mindful not to block air vents or compromise the cooler's original insulation.
Consider Dry Ice:
For longer trips or situations where extended ice retention is crucial, consider using dry ice. Dry ice has a much lower temperature than regular ice and can keep your cooler colder for a more extended period. However, handle dry ice with care, as it can be harmful if not used properly.
Regular Maintenance:
Inspect your cooler regularly for any signs of damage or wear. Ensure that the seal is intact, and there are no cracks or gaps compromising its insulation. A well-maintained cooler is more likely to retain ice effectively.
Bonus Tip - Air Conditioner Repair in Dubai:
If you're a resident of Dubai and are heading out for an outdoor adventure, it's essential to ensure that your home appliances, including your air conditioner, are in top-notch condition. A malfunctioning AC can lead to discomfort upon your return. For reliable air conditioner repair Dubai, consider reaching out to Repair Care. Their team of experts can address any AC issues promptly, ensuring a cool and comfortable home when you get back from your trip.
Conclusion:
By implementing these tips and tricks, you can significantly extend the life of the ice in your cooler, keeping your drinks and perishables colder for longer. Remember to choose the right cooler, pack strategically, and be mindful of factors like insulation and ventilation. Whether you're on a weekend camping trip or a more extended adventure, a well-prepared cooler can make a significant difference in your overall experience.

Melon, Mint, and Cucumber Iced Tea Recipe
Ingredients:
4 cups of water
2-3 bags of your preferred tea (green tea pairs nicely)
2 cups cubed melon (cantaloupe or honeydew work well)
1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
Fresh mint leaves
Ice cubes
Honey or another sweetener to taste (optional)
Melon balls, cucumber slices, and mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions:
Boil the water in a large pot or kettle. Once boiling, remove it from the heat and add the tea bags. Let them steep for about 3-5 minutes, then remove the tea bags.
In the meantime, blend the melon cubes until smooth. Pass the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solids, collecting the juice in a bowl.
Add the sweetener to the warm tea if desired, stirring until it dissolves.
Allow the tea to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate it until it's thoroughly chilled.
In a large pitcher, combine the chilled tea, melon juice, and cucumber slices. Add mint leaves to taste. Let it infuse for about 30 minutes in the fridge.
To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the infused tea over the ice, making sure each glass gets some cucumber slices and mint leaves.
Garnish with a skewer of melon balls, a slice of cucumber, and a sprig of mint on the rim of each glass.
Enjoy immediately and savor this delightful Melon, Mint, and Cucumber Iced Tea on a warm day!

Ambrosius making me emotional (as always)
I feel like a huge part of his character's motivation is that he wanted people to respect and like him. He wanted to be looked up to, seen as a hero. He felt like if he was famous, he'd finally be safe from the ridicule and abuse he'd been facing since he was far, far too young.
Which is why it kind of breaks my heart a little that even after his ultimate betrayal, even after he gave up everything, he still isn't. Nobody at the Institution seems to respect him. He is talked down to by the Director, nobody in the public seemed particularly charmed by him anymore, the moment he's demoted all his fellow knights/guards start talking to and treating him like shit which implies they never really respected him to begin with.
I imagine he had this big dream of being a pillar in the community and being looked up to and respected, seen as an inspiration for kids like him, homeless, hungry, frightened children without futures. Only to be regarded as a pompous symbol of a bygone era.
Ow.
