Cold Therapy - Necessary For Recovery
What does using cold therapy actually do?
When recovering from a soft tissue injury, the importance of cold therapy is often underestimated. Cold therapy reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation. The less inflammation you have, the easier it will be for your body to heal.
When should cold therapy be used?
It’s a common misconception that cold therapy is only useful during the beginning stages of your injury. With any soft tissue injury, but particularly a leg or foot injury, healing can be frustratingly slow. This is because walking puts pressure onto your injury, keeping it in a constant state of inflammation and slowing down the healing process. Using cold therapy all throughout your recovery will help to keep your inflammation and pain down – resting as much as possible will lessen these symptoms as well.
What is the best cold therapy device to use?
The ColdCure® from King Brand Healthcare Products is the best cold therapy wrap available. The wrap is made of soft, flexible neoprene fabric, and it comes with three reusable gel packs, which are meant to be stored in the fridge or the freezer, depending on what’s most comfortable for you. During treatment, one gel pack is inserted into the wrap at a time, ensuring that you always have two gel packs that are cold and ready to use. The gel inside of the packs is designed to not move around like the “blue goo” gel packs you might find at a drugstore – King Brand Rigigel® holds its shape and conforms specifically to the shape of the injured area, ensuring the best coverage and compression. Rigigel® packs stay cold for 20 – 60 minutes, and they hold approximately 3x more cooling power than other gel packs.

The Shitennou in the 90s anime are fantastic because each one of them is a specialist of some sort and it makes their evil operations distinct from one another, keeping things fresh.
Jadeite - The Illusionist
When it comes to Jadeite, deception is the name of the game. For his energy harvesting schemes he creates fake businesses, has his youma pose as humans, and he himself dons all sorts of disguises: radio DJ, fitness instructor, stage manager, academic professor, shrine assistant, amusement park security guard, and captain of a cruise ship. He will also utilize illusions to intimidate like when he showed a vision of Tokyo in flames, or to trick his enemies like when he had illusionary cops force the Sailor Senshi to transform so that he could learn their true identities. Unfortunately, Jadeite's pride in his capabilities means that he was stubbornly unwilling to adapt and take a more direct approach, leading to his downfall.
Nephrite - The Manipulator
Nephrite is a manipulator in all senses of the word. He manipulates people, objects, events and even the stars themselves in order to achieve his villainous goals. Using the single disguise of Masato Sanjouin, he gets close to victims, then will usually give them an item he curses to amplify their innate negative energy until it matches the energy of the star they were born under, creating a special youma in the process. He eventually singles out a key victim in Naru Osaka, who has a crush on his Sanjouin persona, and manipulates her in plans to destroy the Sailor Senshi or find the Imperium Silver Crystal, and uses a special tool of his own creation known as the Dark Star Crystal. However, his cold heart ends up warmed by Naru's innocence and devotion to love, leading him to his tragic demise defending her.
Zoisite - The Cheat
While Zoisite had aid from Kunzite in strategizing, let's not sell him short when it comes to the moment of truth - Zoisite frequently prevails because he is willing to do absolutely anything to win. No method is too dirty, cheap or cowardly for him to embrace. He'll threaten someone's loved one to coerce them into doing what he wants, he'll sucker-punch his enemies out of nowhere after having previously retreated from them, he'll physically bully whoever is smaller and weaker than him then blind them to make an escape if they prove more formidable than expected, he'll pretend to surrender and then strike, he'll sic a monster on his enemy while taking his prize and running, and when all else fails a good old-fashioned stabbing in the back will suffice. Zoisite got far on dishonesty, but success went to his head and he overreached.
Kunzite - The Trap Master
At first Kunzite was a skilled tactician, but then after Zoisite died the writers made him stupider at crafting strategies without even seeming to realize it. What he remained very consistent on, however, was his brilliant and deadly traps. He engineered a fake hostage situation leading to the Sailor Senshi getting caught in a dark, ever-compressing forcefield, he cut the power in Tokyo to obstruct the Sailor Senshi's efforts and cause Mamoru and Usagi to get stuck in an elevator, he had a great idea for a DNA scanning device to catch Sailor Moon with that his youma sadly screwed up, he held a princess seminar where the target was the overall failures save for in a frisbee-tossing challenge since it reflects Sailor Moon's tiara throwing ability, he had a giant snowy chasm created for his enemies to fall right into and be unable to climb out of, he rigged an ice skating rink temperature control device to blast an obscene amount of icy coldness down on everyone and nearly freeze them to death, he played on Sailor Venus' friendship with another person to almost obtain vital information from her, he turned the Sailor Senshi's own attempt at a trap back on them because he saw right through it, and were it not for the Silver Crystal's interference would have trapped them all in time-space limbo. Of all the Shitennou, he came closest to victory on the most occasions. Additionally, he was a powerful warrior, with his power and pride sadly being his undoing.

How Do F1 Cars Work?: Power, Transmit, Suspend
Alright part 2 everyone. Let's go.
1.Power Units
You have probably heard lots of yammering about power unit components before. Things like 'they took on too many and now have a grid penalty' are common to hear. But what is the power unit, and what does that mean?
So the power unit refers to the engine system that helps power the car. The modern F1 car is a hybrid, a mix between a typical Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Energy Recover Systems (ERS). The modern F1 ICE is a 1.6 liter V6 turbocharged engine and can rev up to 15,000 RPM. It uses gasoline and generates a majority of the power. I've explained how it works in an older post, but briefly it compresses air and fuel and ignites it to create combustion which generates energy. The turbocharger is a part of the ICE that helps condense air more, in turn forcing the engine to create more energy.
The ERS has two components. The first is Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic (MGU-K), which recovers energy from braking, stores it in the battery (which stores energy from the two units), and can be used as a boost to power. The second is Motor Generator Unit- Heat (MGU-H). This unit recovers heat energy from the turbocharger and converts it to electrical energy. It can either charge the battery directly or assist the ICE.
When teams get in trouble taking too many power units it essentially means they have replaced something like the MGU-H too many times. There is a cap for how many times you can replace a power unit component, but with the addition of more races every year the FIA is under pressure to increase this limit. Almost every single car takes the penalty at some point.
2. Transmission
The transmission is the semi-automatic gear box inside of F1 cars, which for them is 8-speed. It is located at the rear of the car and connects to the power unit. This is a part of the car that is famous for having issues, and often when a drivers car retires it is due to a gear box failure. With paddle shifters located under the steering wheel, drivers can change the gear in which they are driving. Different gears effect the traction, grip, fuel economy, and speed of the car and are used strategically throughout the race. Part of the transmission is the differential. The differential distributes power between the rear wheels when cornering, allowing the inside tire to rotate slower than the outside tire. The final majorly important part of the transmission is the clutch. In F1 the clutch, which is a device that connects the engine and transmission to the car is automated and controlled by electronics. It is usually used when starting the race or leaving the pit lane.
Grip levels, cornering speeds, and straight-line speeds all play a crucial role in gear ratio calculations. The teams have to find the perfect balance between acceleration, top speed, and adaptability. The team’s engineers use advanced simulations and data analysis to calculate the optimal ratios for each gear. They also take into account factors like tire wear and fuel consumption to fine-tune their calculations. All of this information can be gathered from electronic data gatherers inside of the car, running simulations, and also the drivers reporting themselves. Its why radio communication is so important in F1. This decision can make or break a race, and we have seen drivers lose due to an incorrect gear decision.
3. Suspension
The suspension system works to keep the tires in contact with the road and helps absorb the shocks F1 cars experience. This is created through a variety of springs, shock absorbers, sway bars, etc. Without the suspension, the chassis would be experiencing the full extent of the shaking and pressure, which would do damage to the car and be very painful for the driver. Anytime you see a driver shaking like crazy in the car, it usually means there is something off with the suspension. Suspension also allows the force of the bumps and the kinetic energy to be stored by a spring, which is then compressed, absorbing the energy transferred by that bump in the road and allowing all four tires to grip the road. The biggest difference between street car suspension and F1 suspension is that in an F1 car each tire is independently sprung, which means that they move on their own, useful around corners.
In F1 cars they have a pushrod or pullrod suspension. These systems transfer pressure from the wheels to the suspension dampers and springs. In a push-rod system, the rocker arms are placed at the highest point in the car. As such, the rod is under pressure as it transfers compression forces upwards into the rocker arms. In a pull-rod system however, the rocker arms are located between the upper and lower control arms, at the center of the car This means every time it hits a bump or curb, the wheel pulls on the spring which causes the pull-rod to go up and outwards from the chassis. Both are regularly used suspension types.
Teams regularly change how their suspension is functioning, and it is by far one of the most tweaked systems on the car. Truly, a weak suspension can make any car one of the slowest cars on the grid. So next time you hear a. driver complain about how slow they are on the straights, or how much their back hurts, it usually means their suspension is not where it should be.
That's all for this post, next one should be about braking, the various electronics/sensors, cooling systems, and wrap up of how everything works together.
Cheers,
-B

For gunk-ice-tea’s RaMayttra prompts, Day 30: Balance. Pairing: Ramattra/Reader Rating: PG WC: 848 Warnings: None
"What is it?" You ask, half-motioning to his staff.
When he had first laid eyes on the orb, Ramattra could barely speak. A moment of awe- of fury. He had crossed continents, walked most of it alone, only occasionally the rare few of his kind of who had managed to integrate into human society quickly giving him assistance. He had come so far for answers. To be greeted by serene omnics offering him a mediation tool was a harsh slap. How could this be what he needed- what all omnics needed?
"It's a Shamabli meditation orb." He replies, then corrects himself: "It was."
It took weeks for him to relax among his own brethren. Took even longer for him to realize that his silent walks around the monastery at midnight were not a result of his extended wake cycle. On each circle of the stone-walled perimeter, Ramattra's orb refused to do more than flicker its lights. That was fine, because he was too busy scanning the freezing mountain for any heat signatures.
"Was?" You stare at the purple-striped thing. With a tip of his head, the orb floats out of the crook of his staff, settling between you. "Oh," you murmur, leaning in close to watch the tiny pyramids circle in waves.
It had begun floating on its own. He had dismissed his optics array while meditating- a feeble attempt to acquiesce to Mondatta's recommendation to disable or suspend his combat programs. He could not disentangle many aspects of his HUD from raw optic feed, so the only option was to turn it off entirely. That was fine; they were miles away from any human interference. And for once, Ramattra mediated without running checks. When he had re-engaged them, the orb had finally taken on its intended life, glowing a soft gold and spinning slowly.
That was the trick; Ramattra could not make it float, could not force it to bend to his will, to obey his commands. He could pry into its inner workings, but he knew all too well that would defeat the purpose. No, the orb was intended to run on the very background processes that were difficult for Ramattra to access himself, to be a visual, physical representation of his own state.
You catch one of the pyramids between your thumb and forefinger. The rest that circle the orb shift, fill in the space. It's tiny, pointy where it digs into the pad of your thumb, solid when you press on it. One side glows a soft purple, the same hue as the orb itself, as the line of light inside the staff's crook. With a lift of his fingers, the pyramid dissolves.
"What...?" You blink, stare down at your open, empty palm. With another movement, a dust cloud settles over your hand, then manifests, compresses into the same pyramid. "Nanites?"
Ramattra hums.
He doesn't really remember why he took the design. He knows how he got it. A new arrival had nearly entirely overloaded when her orb refused to sync with them anymore- had almost overloaded again when presented with a new one that they could successfully link with. Ramattra was the best engineer at the monastery, of course he had offered to investigate the faulty device. Any chance to crack one open and pick it apart from the inside. It was as much a self-satisfying investigation as a genuine service to his brethren.
He'd improved their designs within a week and quietly kept the blueprint tucked into his memory banks. Just in case.
He didn't know, exactly, what that had meant yet. Ramattra knew by then that despite his hours, years of self-reflection, of looking out into the universe, of pondering his very own existence and life, that there was something not right. Something here wasn't working. Every time he had to venture down into the town below the monastery for parts and cloth, he felt it in the world. In the very shadow of this omnic safe haven, he saw the fear and hatred in human eyes.
"The Shambali use them to heighten self-awareness, to regulate intense emotions. It's a symbol of internal, spiritual balance to control them." He says, and summons the orb closer to himself. "They can be difficult to control when affected by powerful discord."
"But you altered it?"
The orb settles into his palm. He turns his hand, inspecting the smooth, dark surface. "Yes," He says, "I call it a void accelerator. The orb acts as a magnet accelerator, propelling projectiles where I desire."
"Does it still help you?" You study down at the tiny pyramid still in your grasp. Ramattra's faceplate lifts, stares blankly at you. When you meet his gaze, you rephrase. "You said it regulated intense emotions, that you would meditate with it. Does it still work like that?"
The orb floats before him, pulls the missing piece from your hand. They dance around the orb in slow waves, spinning individually as they go. Ramattra hums, resettles himself. "Yes, in a way."
In the background, he scans the outside of the compound for movement.

How does an engine contribute to a car's powertrain?
The powertrain in a vehicle is the system responsible for generating power and delivering it to the wheels to propel the vehicle forward. The operation of a powertrain can vary depending on whether the vehicle is powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE) or an electric motor (in the case of electric vehicles). Here's a general overview of how a powertrain works in both types of vehicles:
Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Vehicle - Combustion Process: In an ICE vehicle, the powertrain starts with the combustion process in the engine. Fuel (gasoline or diesel) mixes with air in the combustion chamber and is ignited by spark plugs (in gasoline engines) or compression (in diesel engines).
Power Generation: The combustion process generates energy in the form of mechanical power, causing pistons to move up and down within the cylinders of the engine. This motion drives the crankshaft, converting linear motion into rotational motion.
Transmission: The rotational motion from the crankshaft is transmitted to the transmission, which consists of gears that allow the driver to select different ratios (speeds). This enables the engine to operate efficiently across a range of vehicle speeds.
Drivetrain: The transmission sends power to the drivetrain components, including the driveshaft, differential, and axles, which transfer power to the wheels. The differential allows the wheels to rotate at different speeds, enabling smooth turns.
Wheel Movement: The power transmitted through the drivetrain causes the wheels to rotate, propelling the vehicle forward or backward depending on the gear selection and throttle input from the driver.
Electric Vehicle (EV) -
Battery Pack: The primary source of power for the EV, storing electricity in chemical form.Powers the electric motor and provides electricity for all electronic devices within the EV.
Battery Management System (BMS): Monitors battery cell conditions, including voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge (SoC).It protects the battery against overcharging, deep discharging, and overheating and helps balance the charge across cells. Ensures optimal performance and longevity of the battery by regulating its environment.
Inverter: Converts DC from the battery pack into AC to drive the electric motor.Adjusts the frequency and amplitude of the AC output to control the motor’s speed and torque. Critical for translating electrical energy into mechanical energy efficiently.
Onboard Charger: Facilitates the conversion of external AC (from the grid) to DC to charge the battery pack. Integrated within the vehicle, allowing for charging from standard electrical outlets or specialized EV charging stations. Manages charging rate based on battery status to ensure safe and efficient charging.
DC-DC Converter: Steps down the high-voltage DC from the battery pack to the lower-voltage DC needed for the vehicle's auxiliary systems, such as lighting, infotainment, and climate control. Ensures compatibility between the high-voltage battery system and low-voltage electronic components.
Electric Motor: Converts electrical energy into mechanical energy to propel the vehicle. It can be of various types, such as induction motors or permanent magnet synchronous motors, each offering different efficiencies and characteristics. Typically provides instant torque, resulting in rapid acceleration.
Vehicle Control Unit (VCU): The central computer or electronic control unit (ECU) that governs the EV's systems. Processes inputs from the vehicle’s sensors and driver inputs to manage power delivery, regenerative braking, and vehicle dynamics. Ensures optimal performance, energy efficiency, and safety.
Power Distribution Unit (PDU): Manages electrical power distribution from the battery to the EV’s various systems. Ensures that components such as the electric motor, onboard charger, and DC-DC converter receive the power they need to operate efficiently. Protects the vehicle's electrical systems by regulating current flow and preventing electrical faults.
In both ICE vehicles and EVs, the powertrain's components work together to convert energy into motion, enabling the vehicle to move efficiently and effectively. However, the specific technologies and processes involved differ significantly between the two propulsion systems.

What You Need to Know About Skin Care After Sun Exposure
Sun exposure can have both positive and negative effects on your skin. On one hand, it can provide vitamin D, boost your mood, and enhance your appearance. On the other hand, it can also cause sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer. Therefore, it is important to know how to protect your skin from the sun and how to take care of it after sun exposure.
How to Protect Your Skin from the Sun
The best way to protect your skin from the sun is to avoid excessive sun exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are the strongest. However, if you have to go outside during these hours, you should follow these tips:
- Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and broad-spectrum protection, which can block both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays can penetrate deeper into the skin and cause wrinkles, sagging, and dark spots. UVB rays can damage the surface of the skin and cause sunburn and skin cancer. You should apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours or after sweating or swimming.
- Wear protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses. You can also look for clothes with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor), which can indicate how much UV radiation can pass through the fabric. The higher the UPF, the better the protection. For example, a shirt with UPF 50 can block 98% of UV rays.
- Seek shade whenever possible, such as under trees, umbrellas, or awnings. However, keep in mind that shade does not provide complete protection, as UV rays can still reflect from the ground, water, or sand. Therefore, you should still wear sunscreen and clothing even if you are in the shade.
- Avoid artificial tanning, such as tanning beds, lamps, or booths. These devices can emit UV rays that are even more intense than the sun and can increase your risk of skin cancer and aging. If you want to have a tan, you can opt for safer alternatives, such as self-tanning products or spray tans.
How to Take Care of Your Skin After Sun Exposure
Even if you follow the above tips, you may still experience some degree of sun damage after being outside. This is because the sun can affect your skin in various ways, such as:
- Dehydrating your skin, which can make it dry, flaky, and tight. This can also impair your skin's barrier function, which can make it more vulnerable to infections and irritants.
- Inflaming your skin, which can cause redness, swelling, pain, and itching. This can also trigger the production of free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage your skin cells and DNA.
- Pigmenting your skin, which can cause tanning, freckles, or dark spots. This is a result of your skin producing more melanin, which is a pigment that can protect your skin from further sun damage. However, too much melanin can also cause uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
- Aging your skin, which can cause wrinkles, sagging, and loss of elasticity. This is a result of your skin breaking down collagen and elastin, which are the proteins that give your skin its structure and firmness.
To minimize these effects and help your skin recover after sun exposure, you should follow these tips:
- Wash your skin gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. This can help remove any dirt, sweat, or sunscreen residue from your skin and prevent clogged pores and breakouts. Avoid using harsh soaps, scrubs, or hot water, as they can irritate your skin and strip away its natural oils.
- Moisturize your skin generously with a hydrating lotion or cream. This can help replenish the moisture that your skin lost from the sun and restore its barrier function. Look for moisturizers that contain soothing and healing ingredients, such as aloe vera, chamomile, oatmeal, or green tea. Avoid moisturizers that contain alcohol, fragrance, or retinoids, as they can dry out or sensitize your skin.
- Cool your skin with a cold compress, ice pack, or damp cloth. This can help reduce the inflammation, pain, and itching that your skin may experience after sun exposure. You can also use products that contain cooling and anti-inflammatory ingredients, such as menthol, cucumber, or calamine. Avoid applying ice directly to your skin, as it can cause frostbite or damage your blood vessels.
- Treat your skin with products that can repair the sun damage and prevent further harm. For example, you can use products that contain antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, or niacinamide, which can neutralize the free radicals and brighten your skin tone. You can also use products that contain ingredients that can stimulate collagen and elastin production, such as peptides, growth factors, or retinol. However, be careful with using products that can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, such as alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide. You should use them at night and always wear sunscreen during the day.
- Hydrate your body internally by drinking plenty of water and fluids. This can help replenish the water that your body lost from sweating and prevent dehydration, which can affect your skin and overall health. You can also eat foods that are rich in water, such as fruits, vegetables, soups, or smoothies. Avoid drinking alcohol, caffeine, or sugary drinks, as they can dehydrate your body and worsen your skin condition.
Conclusion
Sun exposure can have both positive and negative effects on your skin, depending on how much and how often you expose yourself to it. To protect your skin from the sun and take care of it after sun exposure, you should follow the tips mentioned above and consult your dermatologist if you have any concerns or questions. By doing so, you can enjoy the benefits of the sun while minimizing its risks and keeping your skin healthy and beautiful.

Auto Dent Repair - Hail Dent Pro
Can car dents be removed?
Yes, car dents can often be removed. The method used for dent removal depends on factors such as the size and location of the dent, as well as the type of material the car panel is made of. Here are some common methods for car dent removal:
Paintless Dent Repair (PDR): This is a popular method for small to medium-sized dents where the paint is undamaged. PDR involves using specialized tools to massage the dent from behind the panel, restoring the metal to its original shape without the need for repainting.
Dent Pulling: For larger dents or those without access to the backside of the panel, a technique called dent pulling can be used. This involves attaching a device to the exterior of the car that pulls the dent out. After pulling, some refinishing may be necessary.
Heat and Cold Method: This method involves using a hairdryer or a heat gun to heat the area around the dent and then using a can of compressed air (or dry ice) to rapidly cool it. The sudden change in temperature can cause the metal to contract and pop the dent back into place.
Body Filler and Repainting: For more extensive damage or dents with chipped or damaged paint, body filler can be used to fill in the dent, followed by sanding and repainting to match the car's original finish.
Professional Repair Services: If you're not comfortable attempting the repair yourself, or if the dent is severe, it's advisable to seek the services of a professional auto body shop. They have the expertise and equipment to assess the damage and choose the most appropriate repair method.
Keep in mind that the success of dent removal depends on the specific characteristics of the dent and the skill of the person performing the repair. In some cases, especially with deep or complex dents, it may be challenging to achieve a perfect result without some visible traces of the damage.
How much does car dent repair cost Texas?
The cost of car dent repair in Texas, as in any other location, can vary based on several factors, including the size and location of the dent, the repair method used, the make and model of the vehicle, and the specific rates of the auto body shop you choose. theres been something wring with your wrist for weeks??? put a hot compress on that thing!! 20 mins on and then 20 mins off throughout the day!! have you had time to see a doctor about it?
sprains suck and im sorry youre in pain, please dont push your wrist to write fanfic omggg, youre my favourite character x reader writer but!! girl!! your poor wrist T^T
You sweet human. Thank you.
Yeah, I assume it was an injury or sprain. Sprains can take a hot minute to heal...especially if you keep using the tendon. And while I was resting it and trying to do as much as possible with my left hand, it's still my dominant hand and I did have to go about my day and do work. Which includes some typing and writing. (I do sincerely apologize to anyone who received a letter from our organization that I hand-addressed. Whoops.)
There was a lot of rest, ice, compression, and elevation. KT tape got me through. And I'm still sleeping with a brace on to stabilize because, left to my sleeping devices, I will curl that bitch under my chin. I don't know what I did to it, but it got real angry there. And then I banged it the other day which set me back a few days.
I guess I could have gone to my doctor, but I live in America and work for an arts non-profit with fine-but-still-America-doesn't-fund-the-arts insurance. I really didn't want to use up PTO and pay $300 to have her tell me to do exactly what I knew I needed to do and come back if it didn't get better. 😂 It's getting better. And if it doesn't heal fully or gets worse again, that's when I'll go.
The bigger problem for me is that it set me off a practice schedule for a couple of instruments I'm trying to learn for my fall show. I can still do it, I'll just have to alter my playing style. Which means starting back at the beginning. Oh well.
But this year has just been a trial for my writing. I had a massively busy winter (even that is an understatement). Then writer's block. Then commitments. This wrist thing. I'm about to go into my busy season at work. I can't seem to catch a break to write! I miss it so much! But I'm trying to be gentle with myself. Take pleasure in other hobbies. Know that writing doesn't go away and it will come when it comes.

Some Cool stuff out there.
The local "classic Audio" emporium has quite a selection of amps there.
There are no fewer than 10 Crown Amps including d150s and d75s and two d300s. Must have stripped a recording studio. Crowns are full steel toe certified professional units. Even golden ears years ago had to give them their due.
Also a few Bryston and a Classe for around a kilobuck. Bryston 4bs go for 900 to 1300 depending on the vintage. 3Bs are about 30% less at half the Watts. Two excellent Canadian brands.
There are also a smattering of Japanese beasts. A Nikko and a couple Pioneers are there. Big companies can do it too.
What actually caught my attention had already sold or at least was laid away. It was a Pioneer compander. For those unfamiliar they are devices that either compress or expand the dynamic range of a recording. Often they do both with a twist of a knob in the correct direction. I once had such and actually sold them years ago at this same shop. They were DBX brand.
Oooh they have dbx too under miscellaneous.
They are interesting and can improve a shitty recording if it has been over compressed. I even have a DBX encoded LP that needs a processor to make it sound anything but shit. I could use one for that Carly Simon LP I bought as it is way too compressed.
What these things do is vary the gain by the incoming volume. An expander increases the gain as the volume increases, and compressor does the opposite. Many studios and mastering shops cheat on recordings using these things. Compressed tracks may sound better in a car or in a place with lots of noise like a club. There are no audiophile level machines. ICs and Opamps abound.
When I had them (two actually) I was naive as to the utility but they had some cool flashing lights.
The dbxii was for the LP decoding and my Reel to Reel tape machine. The 3BX was for the whole system. I also had a DBX subharmonic Bass synthesizer which was not bad. That was before my franken amp and my tube amps needed help.
I am glad I grew out of that phase.
On Craigslist there are not one but Two ARC Tube amps! One is 100 Watts per side and the other 60 Watts. Each were 2700ish bucks. If I won the lottery I would be tempted just for nostalgia's sake. They have a particular voice, but I like it. That is still a lot of glass.

A General History of F1: Turbo Titans
The 1970s saw lots of changes for Formula 1. Many of the early legends were gone, either to retirement or tragic death. The sport was also expanding massively and starting to gain recognition in non-European countries. The biggest changes, however, were to the cars themselves. New turbocharged engines meant that the cars had more power in them, and enhanced competition.
But what is a turbocharged engine? Well, in Formula 1 cars an internal combustion engine (ICE) was used to run the car. This is a heat based engine, were the combustion of fuel and usually air create pressure and heat. This heat and pressure applies force to an internal component, usually pistons or turbine blades (depending on the engine type). All of this, to put it simply, makes the car go.
The turbocharger gave the car a little kick. This is a forced induction device (used to increase air density) powered by the flow of exhaust gases. Essentially the energy taken from this compresses the intake air, forcing more air into the engine, which in turn produces more power in the engine. Like caffeine for cars.
With the faster and more complicated cars, F1 was ramped up another level. As the sport got bigger and bigger, and new hungry drivers started to come onto the seem, it started to morph into what we know today. Legends that came out of this time period include Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, and Niki Lauda. The last two drivers on that list also increased the hype around driveer rivalries. While they had existed before, the Lauda-Hunt rivalry took on a life of its own, and it famously memorialized in the movie Rush.
The 1980s were similar to the 70s, but showed that teams who took advantage of new turbochargers and worked hard for innovative development would be on top. Mclaren and William ruled the roost as 'Turbo Titans', and rivalry even more seemed to be at the core of F1. Technical skills became paramount, and drivers like Alain Prost (along with Lauda) became legends for their intelligence and understanding of the cars they drove. These drivers on the 70s and 80s were the second generation of legends, and they were even more intense than their predecessors.
The 1980s also introduced Ayrton Senna to the F1 world. He would go on to become one of the most legendary drivers of all times, mostly due to his magical talent, intense rivalry with Alain Prost, and his tragic death.
Next part will be on Senna.
Cheers,
-B

Will These Tips Help You Relieve Redness in One Eye (วิธีแก้ตาแดงข้างเดียว)?
Experiencing redness in only one eye, or ตาแดงข้างเดียว, can be uncomfortable and concerning. It may be caused by several factors, such as infection, allergies, or eye strain. Here are some effective ways to relieve and treat this condition:
Use Cold Compresses Applying a cold compress to the affected eye can help reduce redness and swelling. Wrap ice in a clean cloth and apply it gently for a few minutes.
Apply Artificial Tears Over-the-counter artificial tears can relieve dryness, which may be contributing to the redness. Use them as directed to keep the eye moist.
Avoid Eye Irritants Stay away from smoke, dust, and other potential irritants. These can worsen redness and inflammation in the affected eye.
Rest Your Eyes Overuse of digital devices can lead to eye strain. Take breaks every 20 minutes to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to relieve strain.
Practice Good Hygiene Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching or rubbing your eyes. This can prevent further irritation or the spread of infection.
Use Antihistamine Drops (if Allergy-Related) If the redness is due to allergies, consider using antihistamine eye drops to reduce symptoms. Consult a pharmacist or healthcare provider for recommendations.
Consult a Doctor if Needed If redness persists for more than a few days or if you experience pain, seek medical advice. Persistent symptoms may require professional treatment.

Ankle Ligaments Treatment: Insights from a Houston Podiatrist
Ankle ligament injuries are a common concern, particularly among athletes and active individuals. These injuries can range from minor sprains to complete tears, significantly affecting mobility and quality of life. Understanding the treatment options available, especially from specialists like a Houston podiatrist, is crucial for effective recovery.
Understanding Ankle Ligament Injuries
The ankle is stabilized by several ligaments, which connect bones and support joint function. Injuries often occur during activities that involve sudden twists, falls, or direct impacts. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty bearing weight. The severity of the injury determines the treatment approach, which can include rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE), physical therapy, or, in more severe cases, surgery.
Treatment Options
Conservative Treatments: For mild sprains, conservative treatments are usually effective. The RICE method helps reduce swelling and pain. Patients are advised to rest the injured ankle and avoid weight-bearing activities. Over-the-counter pain relief medications can also alleviate discomfort.
Physical Therapy: Once the initial pain and swelling subside, a Houston podiatrist may recommend physical therapy. This therapy focuses on restoring strength, flexibility, and stability to the ankle through targeted exercises. Physical therapists may also employ modalities like ultrasound or electrical stimulation to enhance healing.
Bracing and Orthotics: Depending on the severity of the injury, the use of braces or orthotic devices may be recommended. These tools provide additional support to the ankle, preventing further injury while allowing for gradual rehabilitation.
Surgical Intervention: In cases of complete ligament tears or when conservative treatments fail, surgical options may be necessary. Surgery typically involves repairing or reconstructing the damaged ligaments to restore stability to the ankle joint. A Houston podiatrist can provide comprehensive evaluations to determine the most appropriate surgical technique.
Seeking Professional Help
It’s vital for individuals experiencing ankle pain or instability to consult a qualified podiatrist. Early diagnosis and intervention can significantly affect recovery time and long-term outcomes.
