Ibn Al-Jawzi (رَحِمَهُ الله) said:
"The Salaf used to dislike complaining to the people (about their problems); even if there is (some) relief in complaining (to the people due to venting one's complaints), it is an indication of weakness and humiliation.
As for having patience upon not complaining (to the people), it is an evidence of strength and honor."

Here's Ibn al-Jawzi recording a solar eclipse in Baghdad on June 20, 1061 CE: "On Wednesday, when two nights remained to the completion of Jumada al-Aula, two hours after sunrise, the Sun was totally eclipsed. There was darkness and the birds fell while flying. The astrologers claimed that one-sixth of the Sun should have remained [uneclipsed] but nothing of it did so. The Sun reappeared after four hours and a fraction [of an hour]. The eclipse was not in the whole of the Sun [i.e. it was not total] in places other than Baghdad and its provinces." :: [Robert Scott Horton]

“Earth’s Moon is about 1/ 400th the diameter of the Sun, but it is also 1/ 400th as far from us, making the Sun and the Moon the same size on the sky—a coincidence not shared by any other planet–moon combination in the solar system, allowing for uniquely photogenic total solar eclipses.” ― Neil deGrasse Tyson, Astrophysics for People in a Hurry

Imām Ibn al-Jawzī رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ said:
“It is a must for each cautious and intelligent person to gather the supplies needed before his departure [from this life].
For he never knows when his hour of death will strike or know when his soul will be called back!”

لَوْ علِمْتَ أنَّ لَذَّة قهرِ الهَوى أطْيَبُ مِنْ نَيْلِهِ لَما غلبَكَ.
If you knew that the pleasure of conquering temptation is sweeter than its fulfillment, it would not overcome you.

The Value Of Time
Every person should be aware of the importance and value of time. So that he wastes none and benefits from every moment [of his life] to draw nearer and closer to Allāh. Start with the best of words and actions then the lesser in virtue and so forth. The intention to indulge in good deeds that he is capable of should be maintained and active all the time. Because an intention to do a good deed might be better than actually doing a good deed as reported in the hadith.
Many people from the righteous predecessors (salaf) were known to take advantage of their time and cautious about how to spend it.
It has been reported that a man once said to ‘Āmir Ibn ‘Abdul-Qais: ‘Converse with me. ‘Āmir replied: ‘[Only if you could] hold the sun’ [i.e. stop the time so that I talk with you.]
The son of Thābit al-Bananī narrated: ‘When my father was on his death bed I sat next to him to ensure his last words to be ‘There is no god worthy of worship except Allāh’ However, as I was about to do so, he interrupted me by saying, ‘oh son, leave me alone for I am now busy doing my sixth portion of prayers (dhikr)!’
When some people entered upon a dying person from the righteous predecessors they found him praying, so they blamed him [i.e. they admonished him from exhausting himself while he is on his death bed]. But he responded, ‘my book in which my deeds are recorded will be closed shortly’.
That being the case, when a person understands that death will terminate his good deeds, though he may be one of those who endeavoured much to do many good deeds, he will still take advantage of his lifetime to do good deeds that their reward will remain in effect and generated after his death. If he owned some properties or wealth he would endow something, or endeavour to have offspring who remember Allāh after his death, so that the reward of all that be given to him afterwards, Or be amongst those who perform good deeds, and do them well so that others observe these good deeds from him and start following his lead. A person with such qualities is a person who never dies.
Indeed there are many people who have died while they are still alive.

“When the race horse knows that it is nearing the end of the track it exerts all of its effort to win the race. Do not allow the race horse to be cleverer than you. Indeed, deeds are judged by their conclusions. Thus, if you didn’t do well with welcoming Ramadān then perhaps you will do better bidding it farewell.” Ibn al-Jawzī (raḥimahullāh)

"You are the most precious creature to Allah, so be content with what Allah has decreed for you, because he who loves never questions or accuses the one he loves. The Grace of Allah upon you in all that He has created for your sake is as clear as daylight; so how could you imagine He would neglect when you are at the root of it all?"

"Woe to you, though the pleasures of this worldly life are sweet and tempting, know that the questioning over it will be strict. The time at which a woman conceives is one of playfulness, but the actual hardship that awaits her is at the time of her delivery."

" ومتى رأيت في نفسك عجزا فسَل المُنعم، أو كسلا فسل الموفِّق، فلن تنال خيرًا إلا بطاعته، ولا يفوتك خَير إلا بمعصيته، فمن الذي أَقبل عليه فلَمْ يَرِد كل مراد؟ ومن الذي أعرض عنه فمَضى بفائدة، أو حظِي بغرض من أغراضه؟"

Working for the Hereafter
Turn down this worldly life, for it has rejected those who were more enamoured by it than you. Take heed from the lessons of those who were before you, before you become a lesson for those who will come after you. This life is intoxicating and enrapturing, and the indwelling chants of mankind’s nature inherently support it, therefore the lightheadedness of those who drink from it becomes stronger, until the season of profit has passed them by. Thereafter they wake up from their unconsciousness only to prepare for punishment; the feelings of sorrow overwhelming them, though just the reality of all the good they have missed [of the hereafter] is a sufficient lash upon them, a fact that they grasp only after death.
Woe to you; death is like clouds, and grey hair is its raindrops.
Whoever reaches the age of seventy would complain of pain even without reason, and so the sensible person is he who wakes up in fear, because he realises the nearness of death. Oh you, this life is behind you, and ahead of you is the hereafter; and to seek what is behind is a retreat and a defeat, whereas victory lies in advancing forward with strong will. The flood of death has arrived so embark for safety onto the ships of righteousness.
Woe to you, pay heed and start benefiting yourself from your lifespan, for how long is an earthly creature to live in confusion?

📍 *REMINDER OF THE DAY*
_Fir’oun with all his armies, Qaarun with all his treasures & Haamaan with all his skills couldn’t defeat (the shepherd) Musa (alayhis salam) with his stick. Such is one’s power when ALLĀH is with them! No matter how weak you are, your strength is your connection with ALLĀH!_
