Timeline of the Lebanese Civil War in Beirut

13 April 1975 The date usually remembered as the start of the civil war. Gunmen from the Kataeb Party kill around 30 Palestinians travelling on a bus through the Christian neighborhood of Ain Roumaneh. Violence quickly escalates around Beirut, especially in Dekwane and Tel el-Zaatar.

April-June 1975 Fighting throughout Beirut and Lebanon. 2314 dead, 16442 injured.

30 May 1976 Targeted killings of Christians living in West Beirut.

June 1975 The front line between Ain Roumaneh and Chiyah stabilizes and becomes an unchanging boundary between East & West Beirut practically until the end of the war.

30 June 1975 First of a long series of unsuccessful cease-fires after prominent Sunni politician Rashid Karami forms a National Salvation Government.

18 September 1975 Clashes occur in Downtown for the first time.

8 October 1975 Ashrafieh (East Beirut) is targeted by artillery and Beirut airport is closed.

26 October 1975 Palestinian and leftist fighters surround Qantari.

6 December 1975 Around 200 people are murdered at checkpoints throughout Beirut because their identity cards identify them as Muslims. The event is known as Black Saturday.

8 December 1975 The Battle of the Hotels begins with fighting over the area containing the Holiday Inn, Phoenicia, and St. George Hotels, as well as the unfinished Murr Tower. The battle lasts until 22 March 1976, when right-wing Christian militias withdraw from the hotels and thus lose all of the territory they held in West Beirut.

5 January 1976 Siege of Tel al-Zaatar Palestinian refugee camp in East Beirut begins.

13 January 1976 Siege of Dbayye refugee camp, also in East Beirut, begins.

18 January 1976 Massacre in the Karantina neighborhood of East Beirut.

22 January 1976 Another ceasefire, this time the result of Syrian pressure.

13 March 1976 More fighting in Downtown.

8 May 1976 Elias Sarkis elected president of Lebanon.

16 May 1976 Heavy shelling in Beirut. 400 dead, 1000 wounded in 48 hours.

29 May 1976 GRAD rockets used in Beirut for the first time. 270 dead.

1 June 1976 Syrian forces enter Lebanon in support of the Christian/right-wing elements based in East Beirut.

16 June 1976 US Ambassador Francis Meloy is abducted and murdered while crossing the Green Line in central Beirut.

22 June-18 August 1976 Attack on Tel al-Zaatar Palestinian refugee camp, accompanied by massacres of its population.

2 August 1976 The neighborhood of Nab’ occupied by Palestinian/leftist forces.

20 August 1976 The Lebanese Forces created in an attempt to unite all Christian militias in Lebanon.

17 October 1976 Arab summit in Riad, Saudi Arabia, creates the Arab Deterrent Force as a peacekeeping force in Lebanon composed of troops from several Arab countries, but dominated by Syria.

15 November 1976 The Arab Deterrent Force enters Beirut. This marks the end of the first phase of the war, known as the Two-Years’ War.

7 February 1978 Clashes between Syrian and Lebanese Troops in Fayadiyye followed by shelling of Ashrafieh and Ain Roumaneh.

14 March 1978 Israel invades the south of Lebanon

9 April 1978 The Arab Deterrent Force shells the mostly-Christian Achrafieh and Badaro neighborhoods.

1 July 1978 The next phase of the war, known as the Hundred-Days’ War, begins. The Syrian army switches sides and routinely shells East Beirut, home of its erstwhile rightist allies.

13 August 1978 A bomb attack on building in Fakhani neighborhood (West Beirut), used as the headquarters of a Palestinian organization results in 150 deaths.

7 October 1978 Another cease-fire.

13 January 1979 Clashes between the Syrian Army and its erstwhile allies from the Lebanese Forces in Beirut. 16 dead, 75 wounded.

March 1979 Saudi, Emirati, and Sudanese Forces withdraw from the Arab Deterrent Force, but Syrian troops stay in Lebanon.

8 May 1979 The Kataeb party militia battles Armenian militias in the Bourj Hammoud neighborhood of East Beirut.

12 May-12 June 1979 The Kataeb fight Lebanese National Party forces in Furn el-Chebbak. Both parties are Christian.

10 September 1979 More fighting between the Kataib and the Armenians. 31 dead.

13 March 1980 Shia militia Amal battles Palestinian Fatah in the Ouzai neighborhood of East Beirut.

7 July 1980 Kataeb launches a large-scale attack on the Lebanese National Party and largely eliminates it. Around 200 dead. Both parties are Christian.

26 October 1980 Kataeb forces battle remnants of the Lebanese National Party in Ain Rummaneh

5 November 1980 Mourabitoun forces battle Syrian Social Nationalist Party forces in West Beirut and elsewhere in Lebanon.

17 July 1981 Israeli air raid on Fakhani neighborhood results in 141 deaths and 730 injuries.

8 January 1982 Battle between Amal and communists in West Beirut

4 June 1982 Israeli aerial bombardment of Beirut

6 June 1982 Israeli forces invade Lebanon

3 July 1982 Israeli forces blockade and bomb West Beirut

21 August 1982 Palestinian fighters and Syrian troops begin to leave West Beirut. The Multinational Force consisting of troops from the US, France, and Italy begins to arrive in Lebanon.

23 August 1982 Bashir Gemayel is elected president

30 August 1982 Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat leaves Beirut and the Lebanese Army deploys to the city center.

13 September 1982 Bashir Gemayel is assassinated in a bomb explosion.

14 September 1982 Israeli forces tighten siege of West Beirut

15-18 September 1982 Widespread massacres in Sabra and Chatila Palestinian camps. The attacks are carried out militias allied with Israel in an area of the city under Israeli control.

21 September 1982 Amine Gemayel, brother of the assassinated Bashir Gemayel, is elected president of Lebanon.

29 September 1982 Israeli forces leave Beirut.

15 July 1983 Clashes between the Lebanese Army and Amal in the Wadi Abu Jamil neighborhood.

21 July 1983 After President Gemayel criticizes Syria, East Beirut is shelled, resulting in 18 deaths and 66 injuries.

10 August 1983 The Druze Progressive Socialist Party shells Beirut, 12 dead, 38 wounded.

28 August 1983 The Lebanese Army regains control of West Beirut after 4 days of heavy fighting against Amal.

23 October 1983 Massive bomb attacks against US and French facilities housing troops from the Multinational Force result in 241 dead US soldiers and 58 dead French soldiers.

20 December 1983 Arafat and 4000 Palestinian fighters leave Lebanon via Tripoli Port

6 February 1984 Amal, the Progressive Socialist Party, and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party together take control of West Beirut from the Lebanese Army.

17 February 1984 US president Reagan orders US forces to leave Beirut

4 July 1984 Connections between East and West Beirut temporarily re-opened. The airport also resumes operations.

12 March 1985 Uprising by the Lebanese Forces against the Kataeb party under Amine Gemayel. Kataeb break away from unified Lebanese Forces command. All parties in this conflict are right-wing and Christian.

16 April 1985 Amal and the Progressive Socialist Party eliminate the Mourabitoun militia in West Beirut.

30 April 1984 Heavy random shelling in Beirut.

20 May 1985 The so-called War of the Camps begins with Amal attacking Palestinian refugee camps. It lasts until 17 June, kills 800 and wounds 2500.

1 July 1985 Clashes begin between Amal and the Progressive Socialist Party, Amal’s erstwhile allies, in West Beirut.

20 November 1985 More clashes between Amal and the Progressive Socialist Party result in 65 deaths. The clashes begin when PSP members try to raise Lebanese flags in West Beirut.

28 December 1985 The so-called Tri-Partite agreement is signed in Damascus between the Lebanese Forces, the Progressive Socialist Party, and Amal. It is supposed to start a peace process to end the war.

13 January 1986 Clashes within the Lebanese Forces. By 15 January opponents of the Tri-Partite Agreement have the upper hand and the agreement is effectively dead. Syria, a sponsor of the agreement, responds by shelling East Beirut. More than 200 die.

11 August 1986 More clashes within the Lebanese Forces.

27 September 1986 Supporters of the Tri-Partite Agreement among the Christian militias try once again to enter East Beirut. They are repelled by the Lebanese Forces and the Army.

15 February 1987 More fighting between Amal and the Progressive Socialsit Party in West Beirut.

22 February 1987 Syrian troops re-enter West Beirut.

6 May 1988 Amal fights Hizballah in Beirut’s southern suburbs and 157 die. Both groups are Shia Muslim. Fighting ends after Syria and Iran impose a ceasefire.

24 May 1988 Hizballah captures the southern suburb of Ghobeiri from Amal, 6 die, 113 wounded.

27 May 1988 Syrian troops surround Beirut’s southern suburbs.

22 September 1988 Commander of the Army Michel Aoun is named prime minister just before the end of President Gemayel’s term in office. This is a major departure from tradition, because all previous prime ministers have been Sunni Muslims, but Aoun is Christian. When President Gemayel’s term of office runs out, Aoun becomes acting president.

14 February 1989 Clashes between the Lebanese Army and the Lebanese Forces militia in Beirut.

6 March 1989 The army under Aoun tries to close illegal ports run by Christian militias. The militias respond by blocking access to Beirut Port.

13 March 1989 Fighting in Downtown and more indiscriminate shelling.

14 March 1989 Aoun declares a War of Liberation against Syria.

21 March 1989 Crossings between East and West Beirut closed.

22 September 1989 A ceasefire begins and crossings between East and West Beirut re-open.

22 October 1989 Fifty-eight of the deputies of Lebanon’s last elected parliament approve the Taef Accord, a document that would eventually become the basis for a peace agreement ending the war.

5 November 1989 René Mouwwad is elected president by remaining MPs, but Aoun refuses to recognize the election and continues to occupy the presidential palace.

17 November 1989 Attacks on the houses of Members of Parliament in East Beirut.

22 November 1989 Mouwwad is assassinated in an explosion in West Beirut.

24 November 1989 Parliament elects Elias Hrawi president, but Aoun still refuses to recognize this.

31 January 1990 Fighting between the Lebanese Army under Aoun and the Lebanese Forces.

20 March 1990 Parliament meets in its building in Downtown for the first time in years.

29 July 1990 The areas under Aoun’s control are blockaded.

13 October 1990 Syrian and Lebanese troops attack the Presidential Palace, and Aoun leaves Lebanon.

11-12 November 1990 Amal and the Progressive Socialist Party remove their weaponry from Beirut.

3 December 1990 Lebanese Forces remove heavy their heavy weaponry from Beirut.

30 نيسان 1984 قصف عشوائي عنيف على بيروت.

20 أيار 1985 بدأت ما يسمى بحرب المخيمات بمهاجمة أمل لمخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين. وإستمرت حتى 17 حزيران وأودت بحياة 800 شخص وإصابة 2500 بجروح.

1: Nickname - Izy! (Who would have guessed...) Plus a ton of super embarrassing ones from my sister that I'd rather not go into...

2: Gender - female

3: Star sign- aries (I really don't fit the stereotypes though!)

7: Fav bands - I don't really listen to many bands, sorry! Mostly classical...

8: Fav solo artists - same again! Although there's some great violinists...

9: Song stuck in head - for some reason the minuet from Beethoven's first symphony

10: Last movie watched - I think it was Maleficent?

11: Last show watched: uni challenge

12: When did I create my blog - some time at the end of August 2017...

13: What do I post- on @izobee I guess it can be summed up as (classical) music, pretty photos and random posts? @eclogue-studies is my studyblr, so that has more original posts and it's mostly study notes and bujo spreads.

14: Last thing I googled - "Roman man being eaten by a lion". I know, it sounds ridiculous. I'm doing a presentation on utilitarianism and I needed a picture to go with talking about the ethics of the whole 'feeding Christians to lions' thing... That's what IB philosophy does to you.

15: do you own any other blogs - yep, the two I talked about! I'm sort of answering for both blogs currently so I'll put this on my studyblr too!

16: Do you get asks - I had a couple early on on my studyblr but I haven't had any recently.

17: Why did you choose your url - this is gonna be a long one. @izobee : it's based off izabee, a little nickname a friend came up with based on my name (Isobel) which I thought was very cute! But that was taken and I thought I might as well just stay true to my name and put an 'o' in it! @eclogue-studies : uhhh so... In IB Latin I'm studying Virgil's Eclogues. And I love the word 'eclogue', it's so cute, and it's the Latin word for 'selection'. It was previously called eclogae-et-apes (Eclogues/selections and bees) which was kind of a Latin joke based on Virgil's fourth Georgic, the bee in @izobee and my icon which was a bee... So yeah, I kept the eclogue part and made it more obvious that it's a studyblr!

18: Following blogs - about 70 I think?

19: Followers - I believe it's about 35/36 on both?

20: Favourite colour - I can never choose! I like pastels, like lilac, light pink, peach and mint green, but I'm currently really liking burgundy and mauve, so... Plus white aesthetics are really pretty!

21: Average hours of sleep - I usually get around 7 ish?

22: Lucky number - 5, 7, 8 and 9!

23: Instruments: violin and piano! 🎶 Violin is my first instrument and I'm much better at it than I am at piano!

24: What I'm wearing - pyjamas currently!

25: How many blankets do you sleep with - a duvet and sometimes a throw blanket too

26: Dream job - violinist 💖

27: Dream trip - I'm not really sure? I really love Italy but I've been there a couple of times now in the last few years. I'd love to visit Tokyo one day though - if I could speak Japanese!

28: Fave food - that's a toughie. I love quite a lot of fruits (honeydew melon, clementines and pomegranates are probably my favourites?) Pasta, sweetcorn and I cannot not mention chocolate...

30: Current fav song - it's gonna have to be classical! And there are a few - Sibelius violin concerto, Shostakovich string quartet 8, Brahms quintet in F minor, Shostakovich symphonies 5 & 7... I could go on and on... I guess my current favourite is the Brahms because I was doing a listening question on it for homework and it's been in my head all day!

Sorry for the delay, life has had me busy. I present to you the temple of the week.

TEMPLE OF CASTOR AND PULLOX

Castor, aedes: a temple of Castor (or the Dioscuri?) in circo Flaminio, that is, in Region IX, to which there are but two references. Its day of dedication was 13th August (Hemerol. Allif. Amit. ad id. Aug.; CIL I2 p325: Castori Polluci in Circo Flaminio; Fast. Ant. ap. NS 1921, 107), and it is cited by Vitruvius (IV.8.4) as an example of an unusual type (columnis adiectis dextra ac sinistra ad umeros pronai), like a temple of Athene on the Acropolis at Athens, and another at Sunium (Gilb. III.76, 84).

Castor, aedes, templum: * the temple of Castor and Pollux at the south-east corner of the forum area, close to the fons Iuturnae (Cic. de nat. deor. III.13; Plut. Coriol. 3; Dionys, VI.13; Mart. I.70.3; FUR fr. 20, cf. NS 1882, 233). According to tradition, it was vowed in 499 B.C. by the dictator Postumius, when the Dioscuri appeared on this spot after the battle of Lake Regillus, and dedicated in 484 by the son of the dictator who was appointed duumvir for this purpose (Liv. II.20.12, 42.5; Dionys. loc. cit.). The day of dedication is given in the calendar as 27th January (Fast. Praen. CIL I2 p308; Fast. Verol. ap. NS 1923, 196; Ov. Fast. I.705‑706), but by Livy (II.42.5) as 15th July. The laterº may be merely an error, or the date of the first temple only (see WR 216‑217, and literature there cited).

Its official name was aedes Castoris (Suet. Caes. 10: ut enim geminis fratribus aedes in foro constituta tantum Castoris vocaretur; Cass. Dio XXXVII.8; and regularly in literature and inscriptions — Cic. pro Sest. 85; in Verr. I.131, 132, 133, 134; III.41; Liv. cit. and VIII.11.16; Fest. 246, 286;1 Gell. XI.3.2; Mon. Anc. IV.13; Plaut. Curc. 481; CIL VI.363, 9177, 9393, 9872, 10024 — aedes Castorus (CIL I2582.17) or Kastorus (ib. 586.1; cf. EE III.70) appear merely as variants of this), but we also find aedes Castorum (Plin. NH X.121; XXXIV.23; Hist. Aug. Max. 16.1; Valer. 5.4; Not. Reg. VIII; Chron. 146), and Castoris et Pollucis2 (Fast. p103Praen. CIL p.I2.308; Asc. in Scaur. 46; Suet. Tib. 20; Cal. 22; Flor. Ep. III.3.20, cf. Lact. Inst. II.7.9; CIL VI.2202, 2203, although perhaps not in Rome, cf. Jord. I.2.369), forms due either to vulgar usage or misplaced learning. Besides aedes, templum is found in Cicero (pro Sest. 79; in Vat. 31, 32; in Pis. 11, 23; pro Mil. 18; de domo 110; de harusp. resp. 49; ad Q. fr. II.3.6), Livy once (IX.43.22), Asconius (in Pis. 23; in Scaur. 46), the Scholia to Juvenal (XIV.261), the Notitia and Chronograph (loc. cit.). In Greek writers it appears as τὸ τῶν Διοσκούρων ἱερόν (Dionys. VI.13), τὸ Διοσκόρειον (Cass. Dio XXXVIII.6; LV.27.4; LIX.28.5; Plut. Sulla 33), νεὼς τῶν Διοσκούρων (Cass. Dio LX.6.8; App. B. C. I.25; Plut. Sulla 8; Pomp. 2; Cato Min. 27).

This temple was restored in 117 B.C. by L. Caecilius Metellus (Cic. pro Scauro 46, and Ascon. ad loc.; in Verr. I.154; Plut. Pomp. 2). Some repairs were made by Verres (Cic. in Verr. I.129‑154), and the temple was completely rebuilt by Tiberius in 6 A.D., and dedicated in his own name and that of his brother Drusus (Suet. Tib. 20; Cass. Dio LV.27.4; Ov. Fast. I.707‑708). Caligula incorporated the temple in his palace, making it the vestibule (Suet. Cal. 22; Cass. Dio LIX.28.5; cf. Divus Augustus, Templum, Domus Tiberiana), but this condition was changed by Claudius. Another restoration is attributed to Domitian (Chron. 146), and in this source the temple is called templum Castoris et Minervae, a name also found in the Notitia (Reg. VIII), and variously explained (see Minerva, Templum). It had also been supposed that there was restoration by Trajan or Hadrian (HC 161), and that the existing remains of columns and entablature date from that period, but there is no evidence for this assumption, and the view has now been abandoned (Toeb. 51). The existing remains are mostly of the Augustan period (AJA 1912, 393), and any later restorations must have been so superficial as to leave no traces.

This temple served frequently as a meeting-place for the senate (Cic. in Verr. I.129; Hist. Aug. Maxim. 16; Valer. 5; CIL I2586.1), and played a conspicuous rôle in the political struggles that centred in the forum (Cic. de har. resp. 27; de domo 54, 110; pro Sest. 34; in Pis. 11, 23; pro Mil. 18; ad Q. fr. II.3.6; App. B. C. I.25), its steps forming a sort of second Rostra (Plut. Sulla 33; Cic. Phil. III.27). In it were kept the standards of weights and measures (CIL V.8119.4; XI.6726.2; XIII.10030.13 ff.; Ann. d. Inst. 1881, 182; Mitt. 1889, 244‑245), and the chambers in the podium (see below) seem to have served as safe deposit vaults for the imperial fiscus (CIL VI.8688, 8689),3 and for the treasures of private individuals ( Cic. pro Quinct. 17; Iuv. XIV.260‑262 and Schol.). No mention is made of the contents of this temple, artistic p104or historical, except of one bronze tablet which was a memorial of the granting of citizenship to the Equites Campani in 340 B.C. (Liv. VIII.11.16).

The traces of the earlier structures (including some opus quadratum belonging to the original temple; see Ill. 12) indicate successive enlargements with some changes in the plan of cella and pronaos (for the discussion of these changes and the history of the temple, see Van Buren, CR 1906, 77‑82, 184, who also thinks that traces can be found of a restoration in the third century B.C.; cf. however, AJA 1912, 244‑246). The Augustan temple was Corinthian, octastyle and peripteral, with eleven columns on each side, and a double row on each side of the pronaos. This pronaos was 9.90 metres by 15.80, the cella 16 by 19.70, and the whole building about 50 metres long by 30 wide. The floor was about 7 metres above the Sacra via. The very lofty podium consisted of a concrete core enclosed in tufa walls, from which projected short spur walls. On these stood the columns, but directly beneath them at the points of heaviest pressure travertine was substituted for tufa. Between these spur walls were chambers in the podium, opening outward and closed by metal doors. From the pronaos a flight of eleven steps, extending nearly across the whole width of the temple, led down to a wide platform, 3.66 metres above the area in front. This was provided with a railing and formed a high and safe place from which to address the people. From the frequent references in literature (see above) it is evident that there was a similar arrangement in the earlier temple of Metellus. Leading from this platform to the ground were two narrow staircases, at the ends and not in front. The podium was covered with marble and decorated with two cornices, one at the top and another just above the metal doors of the strong chambers. Of the superstructure three columns on the east side are standing, which are regarded as perhaps the finest architectural remains in Rome. They are of white marble, fluted, 12.50 metres in height and 1.45 in diameter. The entablature, 3.75 metres high, has a plain frieze and an admirable worked cornice (for the complete description of the remains of the imperial temple previous to 1899, see Richter, Jahrb. d. This temple was standing in the fourth century, but nothing is known of its subsequent history, except that in the fifteenth century only three columns were visible, for the street running by them was called via Trium Columnarum (Jord. II.412, 501; LS I.72, and for other reff. II.69, p105199, 202; DuP 97). In the early nineteenth century it was often wrongly called the Graecostasis or the temple of Jupiter Stator.

The Pierce Festivals Calendar in ancient Egypt

They were either painted or carved into temple walls or on papyrus, and the paint is flaking away; time, weather and mankind have destroyed large portions of them. Secondly, only casual mention of ritual is found, and in some places, none at all. The pictures of food and other offerings, however, provide information in surprising detail, and those of you who place daily offerings on your personal altars will find useful information here. The Gods, in most instances, are the national ones: Re, Horus, Osiris, Hathor, and Isis. There are inclusions of the other naturu and naturitu as the individual season required.

These calendars afford us a wonderful picture of those early worshipers. The festivals were great, happy affairs, planned for and looked forward to in much the same way Christians look forward to Christmas or Easter.

Food, drink and general party going was the rule, never the exception. Picture in your mind a whole town in party dress celebrating the feast of “Chewing onions for Bastet.”

Festivals of Opet

Opet or Ipet means “harem,” The original name is “The Beautiful Feast.” On this day the barque of Ammon-Re would be removed from its temple shrine, and, along with the image of Ammon-Ra, would journey up the Nile to the temple of his wife Ammonet. This was a serious party festival, lasting for twenty days, with a special ritual held at every stop of Ammon-Res barque.

After nine months had passed Ammonet-Mut would ceremonially be taken into the Temple birthing chamber to give birth to Ammon-Re’s son, Khonsu. Even today, remnants of this festival are still observed. Today Opet has been renamed; it is now “The Festival of Saints,” celebrated by Moslems. During the festival, a small boat is carried out of the Mosque of Abu El Haggag and paraded through the streets of Luxor.

“The Feast of Sothis” (the heliacle rising of the star Sirius) was celebrated with a special ritual. Most temples housed more than one natur or naturit. Normally secluded images of the temple’s naturu would be removed from their shrines and taken to the roof of the temple so that the first light of the first day of the New Year would fall upon them.

The Yearly Five Days

Remember, it is permissible to eat offerings once the naturu have taken the essence from them. They can be removed and eaten after an hour.

Honey, raw grains, prepared meats (Goose was a favorite, as was beef. However, avoid pork. It was considered unclean because of its connection to Sutekh. Also, avoid fish if you honor Osiris.Other offerings were fruit, flowers, oils (scented and olive) bees wax, bread (all kinds, plain or fruit filled, often in special shapes: pyramids or sacred objects) and incense, along with scented candles.

There is evidence that indicates that this Festival is the true “Festival of Intoxication.” The possible mistaken belief that it honors Thoth not Hathor/Sakhmet stems from the fact that the feast falls in the month of Thoth. Strong evidence points to the myth recounting the destruction of mankind as the basis for this festival.

According to this story, in order to end Hathor’s bloody rampage, Re tricked her into drinking beer laced with mandrake and red ocher. He flooded Egypt with this drugged beer. Hathor/Sakhmet, thinking it was blood, consumed so much of it that she became drunk and passed out and lost interest in destroying humanity. The yearly inundation by the Nile, with its rich, red silt, is the earthly re-enactment of this flood of beer. This feast of intoxication is the Egyptian “October fest.”

The word Heb means “Festival,” and Sed means “cloth,” as well as “tail.” One of the requirements of this festival was that the King had to run around the circumference of the temple inner court, carrying ritual objects in his hands. It is believed that some form of rejuvenation occurred during the event. This feast took place every three years, with an even grander version occurring at a Pharaoh’s Thirtieth Year Jubilee.

At this time, the two statues were enshrined together for fourteen days, and then the statues were taken to the temple roof to greet the sun god Ra.
