WIP guessing game: green!
WIP Guessing Game
The fields were green with low-growing crops, not grain—potatoes, maybe, which led Briala to recall the resource maps she had studied at Castle Gwaren.

Back to doing NewMeal again. Goddamit I'm gonna try.
10/8/24: pork chops with apples, onions, and carrots
Tumblr media
Recipe:
~20oz pork
2 apples (I used granny smith)
2 onions (I used yellow)
5 cloves of garlic
~4 medium carrots
2tsp chicken stock powder, paste, etc
2tsp garlic powder
2tsp onion powder
2tsp season salt
2tsp sugar
2tsp (idk, did this one by feel) dried thyme
Preheat oven to 425F. Slice your onions and apples into thin slices (¼" by whatever length). Slice your carrots into regular round coins or into fancy DIAGONAL coins. Finely chop your five cloves of garlic. Mix season salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cut your pork into portion chunks (I cut three big ass chops into halves) and season it with some thyme and the salt/powders mix. Don't use all of the seasonings on the pork. Lay the pork in the bottom of your pan/dish (I used a ~3qt corningware casserole dish that's a "family "heirloom""; a Dutch oven or other oven safe dish would also work). Toss your vegetables with the sugar, thyme, chicken bouillon, and the salt/powders mix. Dump it on top of your pork chops. Cover it and throw it in the oven for like 30 minutes, take it out, stir it, put it back for fifteen more minutes. If you then want your pork crispy on top (I like it that way) take the lid off and put it back in for like 5-10 minutes on broil with the chops on top. I served mine with roasted garlic instant mashed potatoes. It was good.
If you're a nervous cook you can throw like half a cup of water in there also. I did that this time and if I make this again I will not do it the second time (there is so much Wet in this recipe). Another alternate would be to sear your pork before you put it in the casserole (I think this would be very very good).

oooooh so! for fic recs! I would ask for Dead Three fic recs for BG3 but I think we have read all the same things so Tyranny!!!
Anything with lush prose and Bleden Mark.
And anything with my fav problematic beastwife Kills-In-Shadow :D
i was under the impression i will be easily able to recommend tyranny fics - and then i remembered most of what i read was in russian OTL
from english ones, I really liked the Bleden Mark & Fatebinder It's A Hundred Thousand Miles Off, Coming Closer Every Day by ialpiriel and Ad Coleum by Nebulad, both short and sweet and dialogue-heavy, which I enjoy
there's absolutely nothing in english that's Killsy-centric which i consider a crime and a personal attack (she's the ideal woman. you may not like it, but that's what female peak performance looks like)
i would shamelessly rec my fics - if i ever finished and posted them

last six lines
tagged by @corpocyborg to share the last six lines of a WIP.
tagging @dread-red-queen and @ialpiriel (no pressure!) and anyone else who is writing and would like to play
most of my WIPs are more like primordial oozes filled with notes and asides than a first draft, so the one I could find *is* horny, although it's not explicit, but anyway be forewarned lol
Kerry Eurodyne, a distant part of her brain reminds her in awe– the part of her that had never known how he’d looked when he’d been twenty-two and would moan for anybody who’d suck on his neck.
He runs his fingers slowly through her hair again, a smug smile spreading over his flushed and bloody lips. “Too bad you left your dick at home.”
One of her dicks, anyway. The one she wants to use. Another is still sweeping through these rented offices looking for the people trying to kill them. And when he’s done she won’t have Kerry to herself anymore.

A quick glance at the adventurer’s countenance had revealed what might have been curiosity and might have been bemusement; he had found it difficult to tell, as oft he did with strangers.
A few days late here but thank you for the tag! I am not going to tag that many people but: @ialpiriel @chocochipbiscuit @farfromdaylight if you feel like it. :)
Last Sentence Tag Game
RULES: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.
@clockwayswrites was kind enough to tag me.
"Do you remember anything else about her that might help?!"
[I love that this gives nothing away. It could be for anything. But hey, it's actually from My Graveyard Song. Teehee]
Also no pressure to anyone I tag. Just for fun, if you feel like it

WIP Wthursday
Thank you for the tags, @myreia and @lilbittymonster!
Tagging: @farfromdaylight @nirikeehan @chocochipbiscuit @ialpiriel @coldshrugs and anyone else who wants to play!
A day late and a dollar short but here's a bit of sad elf fic.
***
To Horizon he set forth on the morrow, anxious to have it done. Grimoire at his hip, carbuncle unsummoned, but its stone of amber worried between his fingers as he walked, in a vain attempt to sooth the disquiet of his heart.
At the selfsame tavern where not so long ago he had met the prioress, Urianger sat, and ordered a cup of tea, his second of the day. This cup he found sharper, more tannic than that which he had brewed from his personal supply back at the Waking Sands, and he sipped it more slowly as he waited.
He was uncertain what he ought to be looking for, and could only presume that the Emissary had given these heroes his description. Horizon was bustling, as it typically was of a morning, merchants and mercenaries and adventurers coming in and out, few lingering long, hastening to the business of the day.
Nothing especially distinguished the brown-haired Hyuran man, but for the way he lingered a moment in the entrance, almost as though lost. Urianger supposed that the axe he bore might have been impressive for one acquainted with such things, and he had a warrior's build and bearing to be sure, but he might have been any adventurer, stopping in before setting out upon some quest. An impatient grumble at the man's back saw him quickly step aside and apologize as several impatient patrons shouldered by. His eyes fixed upon Urianger, and with a nod, he came and took the seat opposite.
"So," said the man, with no warmth in his voice, "you are he of whom the Man in White spoke."
"And thou art his wayward hero," Urianger returned, wary of what his words might reveal. Full many reasons had he still to doubt the Ascian's intent.
The man let out a brief, sharp laugh. "Is that what he called me, then?"
"He spoke of a party of you, in sooth. Yet I see thou art unaccompanied."
The man gave him a long, appraising look. "I said I'd come alone to start. See if you— Begging your pardon, but what are you doing?"
Urianger had merely reached up to pull his portable aetherometer down before his eyes, adjusting the focus knobs for a clear reading of the man who sat before him. This would not necessarily itself confirm or refute the Emissary’s tale—for what basis had he for comparison? What peculiarities might indicate travel from another world, from one such shard of which the Emissary had spoken? How was he to interpret whatsoever he might observe? There were reasons aplenty that a person’s aetheric balance might be altered, not the least of them tempering. Nonetheless, ‘twas as sound a means as any to begin seeking answers.
What he saw through the aetherial lenses of his instrument arrested him.
It was not so severe as to be perceptible without such a device, even by one seasoned in the arcane arts. Through the aetherometer, however, the reading was unmistakable. The man’s aether was dominantly Light-aspected, in a way Urianger had never before seen.
What could it mean? Oh, Moenbryda. How I wish thou wert here to render thy guidance. Moenbryda could have told so much more than he from the selfsame readings. How precious thy wisdom, how deeply felt thine absence.
How it cut him to the very core of his being. Not merely the loss to himself, but the loss to mankind, to the very star.
The loss he had allowed.
“Pray—pay me no mind,” he managed, pushing his aetherometer back up, as the warrior was now regarding him with profound suspicion. “I would hear thy tale, if thou wouldst tell it.”

do you know any ttrpgs about music? either where music is a mechanic in the game, the goal of the game, or a major part of the setting? i know my mechanical-engagement preferences in ttrpgs, but mostly im just interested in a broad range of games about music, and willing to try out stuff that may not work for me
Musical tabletop RPGs, eh? It’s a specialised genre, to be sure, but a more popular one than you might think. A few personal favourites:
The Dance and the Dawn - I’m stretching the letter of your request a bit with this initial entry, as it’s more properly about dancing than music, but I was reminded of it so immediately that it’d be remiss not to include it. A tabletop adaptation of a LARP scenario by the same title, this one’s basically a Gothic dating sim where conflicts are resolved via tactical ballroom dancing, played out using pieces on a chess board. Definitely one to look into if you’re a fan of ballroom dancing, tragic duels, Byronic angst, or some intersection of the three.
Hijinx - A Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition adaptation for playing mystery-solving musicians in the mode of cartoons like Josie and the Pussycats or Jem and the Holograms. Includes a combat system that adapts 3E’s tactical grid to musical confrontations, with the audience as the battlefield and your riffs as your playing pieces. It requires some familiarity with the 3E core rules to play, and was published as a backup feature in Polyhedron magazine; the preceding link will take you to a store where you can purchase a PDF of the relevant back issue.
Powerchords - A musical urban fantasy sourcebook, this one’s heavy on the essays and worldbuilding and light on the mechanics. Partly this is because it’s ostensibly a system-neutral resource – though in practice a lot of its gameplay assumptions are tied to Deleria, a long out of print RPG by the same writer – but to a much greater degree it’s just that the author has a lot of opinions on the subject matter. It’s one of those RPG books that’s designed more to be read than played, so definitely not the best choice if you’re looking for something for a pickup game.
Ribbon Drive - A bit of a shift from the other titles in this post, this one’s a game that uses music, but isn’t really about music. It’s a road-trip storygame where each player is expected to bring a mix or playlist based on a theme they want to explore during the session. The initial stages of play consist of listening to songs from a randomly chosen playlist, alternating with brainstorming phases that define both the premise of the scenario and the characters who inhabit it, with traits taken directly from the song lyrics. The remainder of the playlists (i.e., the parts not used during the initial brainstorming phases) serve as tone-setting background noise for semi-freeform RP scenes.
Starchildren: Velvet Generation - An early 2000s indie game about glam aliens saving the world from the Man with the power of rock; if you’re picturing “Ziggy Stardust: the RPG”, that’s not quite right, but it’s not entirely wrong either. The mechanics are pretty old school, in spite of being based on playing cards rather than dice, and the worldbuilding has all the unfortunate quirks you’d expect of a game based on 1970s glam rock culture, but even if you never play it as written it’s a wonderful idea mine. Content warning for frequent discussion of drug use; the propensity to easily pick up fatal addictions is one of the mechanical drawbacks of playing a starchild character rather than an earthling.

Ye olde rules: If you’re tagged, make a new post and share 1-2 (a few) sentences from your most recent unposted WIP(s) with zero context -- Let your followers guess!
tagged by @ialpiriel on my main, but posted here since this is where my writing currently goes :3
tagging @luvwich, @streetkid-named-desire, @sp4cedr4g0n (no pressure)
(1)
Those were all things she knew but it was hard to argue with her animal brain, which wanted nothing more than to dive headfirst into Grade A cunt, by whatever means necessary.
(2)
V smiles, showing just a sliver of her teeth. “I’m going to die. Especially since the person who could tell me exactly how fucked I am just left town yesterday morning.”
(3)
“What are you doing?” Takemura’s voice shook him from his reverie, the man’s grip on his arms so tight it was painful. He shoved Johnny forward. “Run!”

@ialpiriel replied to your post “I headed into SF tonight to go sing sea shanties aboard a historic...”
PLEASE share the gay sea shanties i Need them
I WISH THEY TOLD US THE TITLES but they just started singing them! Three were about women who dressed as men to go sailing, one ended well and the woman took a wife and they were happy, the other the sailor was found out and forced to stop sailing, and the last the captain’s wife was on board and they fooled around until the sailor became pregnant and they found out she’d also been fooling around with the captain. There was one about sailors getting up to shenanigans with each other while out at sea.
youtube
BUT one singer told us about Louisa Jo Killen, a trans woman, who was part of the British folk revival of the 60′s and wrote/sang a bunch of shanties. I’ve been looking for the one we heard last night which was about a deckhand so beautiful, the captain told him he wished the deckhand was a lass so they could be together, so when they reached the shore, the deckhand stole away to town and showed back up to the docks dressed in a beautiful dress to be with the captain.
Granted, all of these songs were from like 1820-1860 so they have very distinct western gender roles, so this was about as gay as it gets.
@notactuallyaduck replied to your post “I headed into SF tonight to go sing sea shanties aboard a historic...”
Gay sea shanties!!!! I wish i were there for pride. Oh well
There’s plenty of gay left in SF when you visit, don’t you worry.
