How to Fix iPhone Unavailable on Lock Screen [2024 Updated] - Technology Org
If your iPhone displays the message “iPhone Unavailable” on the lock screen, it means that you have entered an incorrect passcode multiple times, triggering Apple Security measures to safeguard your device from unauthorized access. You may find yourself in a situation where you have forgotten your iPhone password and cannot unlock your device. However, there’s no need to worry. This article will guide you through several methods to fix “iPhone Unavailable” lock screen issue.
When you encounter the “iPhone Unavailable” message, often with a timer, it signifies that you have made multiple consecutive incorrect password attempts within a short period. Your iPhone will then be locked, preventing further access to the device. The lockout time varies from 1 minute to 8 hours or longer. In a nutshell, the more failed attempts, the longer the lockout.
Additionally, depending on your settings and the version of iOS you are using, your iPhone may alternatively display “Security Lockout” or, in earlier versions before iOS 15.2, the prompt will appear as “iPhone is disabled“.
Solution 1: Fix iPhone Unavailable without Computer
Starting from iOS 15.2 and later, iPhone has introduced a helpful feature known as “Erase iPhone” to assist users in resetting their devices. This functionality enables individuals who have forgotten their screen passcode to reset their unavailable iPhone using their Apple ID. It’s worth noting that “Erase iPhone” will permanently erase all content and settings on the device. Follow these steps:
Step 1: On the iPhone Unavailable screen, continue entering the wrong passcode until you see Erase iPhone option in the lower right corner.
Step 2: Tap Erase iPhone > Erase iPhone (for iOS 17 and later, tap Forgot Passcode > Start iPhone Reset), then enter your Apple ID password to sign out of the account. Then follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
Step 3: Once the reset is finished, proceed with the setup process, including the option to restore their data from a previous backup, if any.
Solution 2: Unlock iPhone Unavailable using iSumsoft iPhone Passcode Refixer
If you find yourself cannot remember the Apple ID password required to wipe your iPhone, there are other solutions. One of the recommended methods is to use a trusted third-party tool called iSumsoft iPhone Passcode Refixer, which allows you to easily bypass the lock screen and effectively fix the “iPhone Unavailable” screen.
Learn how to use this software:
Step 1: Download and install iSumsoft iPhone Passcode Refixer. After the installation, connect the locked iPhone to the computer and launch the program.
Step 2: On the Home page, select Unlock Lock Screen.
Step 3: Click Start to proceed. Please note that if your iPhone cannot be recognized by the software, try to put the iPhone into recovery mode or DEU mode.
Step 4: Your iPhone info will be loaded and displayed on the interface, and you will be asked to download a firmware package. Click Download to proceed.
Step 5: After the successful download and verification, click Unlock to begin unlocking iPhone.
Step 6: When “Unlock Screen Successfully” appears on the screen, it means that the iPhone Unavailable message has been removed and your iPhone will restart automatically.
Solution 3: Fix iPhone Unavailable with Previous Passcode
For devices running iOS 17 and later, you are allowed to use your previous password to access the device without losing any data. This method, however, is time-limited as it is only valid for 72 hours after changing the screen lock passcode. So, if you are the lucky guy, follow the steps below:
Step 1: From the iPhone Unavailable screen, proceed with entering the wrong passcode. When you see Forgot Passcode? on the lock screen, tap on it.
Step 2: Tap Enter Previous Passcode, then follow the onscreen instructions to create a new passcode.
Solution 4: Bypass iPhone Unavailable Message with iTunes
iTunes serves as an official tool for solving many common iPhone issues, including restoring iPhone when the iPhone says “iPhone Unavailable”. To utilize iTunes for this purpose, you’ll need a computer with the latest version of iTunes installed. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to restore your iPhone using iTunes:
Step 1: Connect the iPhone to the computer and then put it into recovery mode.
Step 2:  Launch iTunes. You will then be asked to Update or Restore. Select Restore and follow the onscreen prompts to reset the iPhone.
Note: If you haven’t signed out of your Apple ID before restoring the iPhone with iTunes, you may be stuck on the Activation Lock, asking for the previous Apple ID and password.
Solution 5: Fix iPhone Unavailable with iCloud
If you prefer not to install the iTunes application on your computer, there is an alternative method to address the “iPhone Unavailable” issue by using the iCloud website. By logging in to the iCloud website, you can resolve the problem without the need for iTunes. However, please note that you will require your Apple ID and password to sign in to iCloud. Here is how to use iTunes to unlock iPhone:
Step 1: Visit iCloud.com and sign in with your account associated with the unavailable iPhone.
Step 2: From the iCloud page, locate Find My and select it. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID passcode.
Step 3: You will then see a list including all devices linked to this account. Select the locked iPhone.
Step 4: Click Erase This Device.
Q1: Is iPhone Unavailable Permanently?
According to some reports, some users can be locked for up to 23,056,476 minutes, rendering the iPhone permanently unavailable. In theory, the amount of time the screen is locked is directly proportional to the number of times an incorrect passcode is entered.5th failed attempt, 5 minutes;
6th failed attempt, 5 minutes;
7th failed attempt, 5 minutes;
8th failed attempt, 15 minutes;
9th failed attempt, 1 hour;
After 10 failed attempts, your iPhone will be locked for more than 1 hour if you enable the “Erase iPhone after 10 failed attempts” feature, or you will be locked for more than 1 hour.
Q2: How to Unlock iPhone Unavailable without Losing Data
To preserve data, fixing an unavailable iPhone without data loss is only possible if you possess the Screen Lock passcode or have a recent backup of your iPhone. Apple prioritizes data protection, which contributes to its immense popularity.

In the morning, you were called into the office with only a few people, including Maz. You reluctantly agreed considering you could opt out a day next week. Upon entering the office, you saw that your usual far corner spot had been taken. Sighing, you sat at the vacant desk directly adjacent to the new CEO's office. After setting up your laptop for work, you began doing your regular tasks. Suddenly, you saw Kylo coming around the corner. As he unbuttoned his overcoat, he talked on his iPhone as stoic as ever.
Your gaze went back to your laptop, but your thoughts trailed back to him. It was odd enough that he and Rey were cousins. The simple fact Rey had told you all his dirt made you wonder a bit more about him. What he was outside of work. What he regarded as mundane? He always looked well put together but according to Rey, he’s barely keeping it together. Totaling
Kylo went into the office and flicked on the lights. For someone who didn’t speak at all, he certainly had a commanding presence. You could hear him typing away on his laptop and soon enough a clicking of his mouth escaped him. Something was up, you concluded. You heard him whisper a drawn-out ‘What’ from his office in a disappointed sigh.
Before you could message Rose you could hear his footsteps come back out of his office. You placed your phone back on your desk as if you were only checking the time.
Kylo slouched against the door frame as he looked at his watch.
“Why is no one ready?” he mumbled looking at his watch again and then at the door. He had his sleeves rolled up to his muscular forearms.
Rose was right, he was a male Miranda Priestly. You kept your eyes on your laptop screen until his gaze caught yours.
“Morning Y/N,” he greeted with a nod.
“Morning,” you answered.
“Could you CC me in those monthly reports you give to Maz?”
“Sure,” you nodded adding him to your mass email.
This was the first time you had to CC anyone bigger than Mazz on your emails, which sent you a little spike of anxiety but if the CEO needs it then so be it. You were confident in your work and you had the backup info to prove it. You could still feel Kylo’s gaze on you as you went back to your work. You tried to tune him out as you knew you had stares everywhere you went.
“I’m sorry, but, I think I’ve seen you before,” he spoke as he walked over to your desk, “Do you know Phas? Tall blonde woman?”
Kylo kept a respectable distance however it still felt like he was towering over you.
“No, I’m Rey's roommate actually,” You explained turning in your chair to face him.
Kylo’s eyebrow rose slightly, “Ah, yeah, you’re on her socials right?”
You nodded, “Yeah we signed on that two-bedroom apartment in Ferrix.”
“Ferrix? That’s a quiet neighborhood,” His eyes were on the door once more, “What time do the supervisors come in??”
“They should be in any second now,” I answered.
Meeting with the supervisors wasn’t new but Kylo’s stance was a bit like watching a shark wait for unsuspecting prey. Something was definitely up.
Before he could say anything Mr. Pryde along with a few other older supervisors came in each laughing until they all laid their eyes on Kylo. The room went silent as Kylo walked over to them.
“Gentlemen, the meeting was at 7:30 am,” he spoke with an unnerving calmness
Each of them went silent as they followed Kylo into the room. As the door closed you immediately messaged Rose.
Y/N: Someone is getting fired
Rose: Damn. I’d hate to be a manager
Y/N: I’ll keep you updated
You saw Maz show up with her laptop along with a smile at you. When she opened the door however you could hear Kylo’s firm voice.
“Maz and her team are the only ones who's been updating logs!,” Kylo reprimanded the room, “How could any of you miss this crucial mis-..”
Maz looked back at you with wide eyes as she closed the door behind her.
Kylo’s harsh critics could be heard through the walls along with another woman’s voice was seemed to be on call. You placed your other earbuds in and began to catch up on your drafting work. Hours flew by and it hit your lunch break finally.
You grabbed your leftovers and began to walk over to the lunch room/ break room alone. You could still hear all the supervisors talking amongst one another along with Kylo’s baritone voice.
You shook your head and left the area, “Not my pig, not my farm.”
Soon you heard the door open, and a million voices began speaking at once. You paused your snack mid-bite as Maz came into the room with a small smile on her face. She looked outwards and then back at you with a grateful sigh, “You have spared the entire team from Kylo’s wrath.”
“What really??” You urgently whispered, “Maz what the hell happened in there? I could hear him through the walls.”
“A blood bath that’s what happened,” she sighed quietly as she made herself coffee, “Kylo’s cracking down on the departments and he’s not taking any prisoners.”
“That makes sense, he’d ask me to send him my monthly reports now,” You answered leaning back into the chair.
“Thank you for doing so,” Maz spoke giving your shoulder an affirmed squeeze.
A slight blush came on your face, “So do I get a raise??”
“I hope so you deserve it. You know what, I’ll see what I can do,” Maz took a drink from her coffee as she looked at her work phone, “Speaking of the devil. I’ll see you around.”
She left you alone in the break room shutting the door. A smile came on your face as you took a drink from your coke. It had been a while since you received some if any recognition, so this was a small win in your favor. You cleaned up after yourself and went out to your car for the last 15 minutes of your lunch.
You went into your car and placed the seat back texting your mom about your victory. You smiled as she messaged you back saying ‘Of course, she didn’t raise a dumb kid’.
Before you knew it your work phone blew up in messages of praise from Rose, Connix, and Maz with congratulatory gifs.
You played your music hearing the thrashing of guitars of Rammstein as you beamed quietly in your car. You nodded to the music of the German rock band. You were so stuck on your small victory that you didn’t even notice someone standing outside your door. Until a sharp tap broke you out of your trance. You glanced up and saw Kylo.
“Oh shit,” you mumbled as you quickly adjusted your seat and lowered your music, “Oh hey what’s up?”
Kylo was a few paces away from your car, “Hi. Sorry to bother you on your break.”
You waved a hand, “It’s fine, am I parked in your spot or??”
“What? Oh no, no that’s not it,” Kylo spoke clearing his throat, “I wanted to apologize if you heard me through that meeting. Maz told me I was a bit loud.”
You looked at his stature once more although he seemed intense in the office, right now he looked like a fish out of water with you.
“It’s fine. I kinda tuned it out,” you dismissed.
A relief came across his face as he ran his fingers through his hair, “Cool. I’m glad that didn’t freak you out.”
There was a pause between the two of you taking in each other’s appearance or at least he was taking in yours. You couldn’t tell if he was sizing you up or checking you out.
“So uh Rammstein huh??” He mentioned your music.
“You listen to them?” You questioned.
You could see his face slightly turn pink? His large hands slightly fidgeted with his key tag that hanged from his belt nervously.
“I’ve probably a few songs from them on tic-tok,” He spoke leaning on his car, “They seem pretty cool.”
“Yeah,” You agreed as you glanced at your dashboard and then at him. There was a pause between the two of you. You awkwardly looked at the clock and then at him. You always kept a distance when it came to higher-ups but that was because they were older. Kylo however was probably one of the youngest CEOs you had ever seen. Right now he seemed to be staring back at you, waiting for you to respond to him.
“Do you have any good recommendation albums from them?” Kylo asked a little too enthusiastically breaking the silence.
It was a bit out of the ordinary questions other people had for you. Kylo looked interested, waiting for your response. However, before you could answer your alarm went off signaling that you had to return to your desk.
“Check out Rosenrot and Reise, Reise,” you suggested as you exited your car.
“Definitely,” he continued as he walked next to you, “I’ve been meaning to expand my music taste these couple of months. Hearing divorce dad rock isn’t cutting it for me anymore.”
A slight grin came over you as he held open the door for you, “Are you looking for something in particular.”
Kylo shrugged his shoulders placing his hands in his pocket as he glanced over to you, “Something heavy, enough to cause my father a heart attack.” A slight chuckle escaped your lips, “Hmm that varies, but Rammstein is a good start to that harder music.”
He glanced at you as he took off his sunglasses, “When you’re done clocking in see me in my office.”
A slight spike of unease suddenly came as you saw him walk into his office. You message your team saying you will be gone for the next 15 minutes for a meeting. You exhaled a breath calming your nerves as you went back to your laptop clocking in. You took another breath and grabbed a small notepad and pen just in case you needed to write something. You turned the corner and saw Maz conversing with another worker. Maybe she had put in the good word? You pushed your anxiety to the side and walked into his office. It was large and overlooked most of the city. His desk was large with black wood and a large leather-looking seat.
“Shut the door behind you,” he spoke not looking up from his work.
You nodded quietly as you did so. You made your way to the leathered chair in front of his desk as he sat reading something.
“Maz speaks very highly of you,” Kylo spoke his gaze turning back to you, “And after today’s work I truly believe it.”
A slight nod came from you, “Thanks. I did my best.”
“Maz and I agreed you’ll get a raise,” He spoke turning his static gaze back to his laptop.
Your eyebrow perked up with a shock, “Oh great, thanks, Ren. I appreciate it.”
“Keep doing what you're doing,” Kylo concluded with what seemed like a slight smile, “Send in Mr. Pryde when you head out.”
It looked..cute. You took your gaze away as you stood up from the seat and made your way to the door. You reached for the door only for it to budge.
“Great,” you sighed in disappointment trying to budge it open.
“Something wrong Y/N?” Kylo questioned looking up at you.
“The door’s jammed,” You answered trying to open it, “You’d think this building would be up to date.”
Kylo stood up from his desk and went next to you, “Let me try.”
You stood back as he gripped the door handle trying to unjam it. A ring came, one you had recognized almost immediately.
A chime from Audios After Dark. You gripped your pen as you swiftly glanced at his desk. No that couldn’t be. Thankfully you were facing the opposite way from Kylo so you wouldn’t give away any hints.
“I’ll message Maz maybe she can move it on the outside,” you spoke taking out your phone and messaging her.
“Good thinking,” Kylo spoke as he tried budgeting the door again with a hard grunt.
You heard another familiar chime, confirming your suspicions that he was a part of that community.
That could be for any of the tags though. He probably indulged in a few of the female audios.
The door suddenly budged as Kylo gave another hard pull causing a few strains of his raven hair to fall onto his face. You could see his forearm flexing as he gripped the door handle once more. It was s such a mundane thing but the way his arms flexed…
STOP IT! you internally scolded yourself.
“Ah there it goes,” You commented seeing the door slightly budge.
“Thank God,” Kylo chuckled as he glanced at you then at the door, “You might want to take a step back.”
As you took a step back he pulled back the door this time it swung open with force until it hit him right on the toe so hard that you winced.
“FUCK!” He yelled in both frustration and agony, “FUCKIN SHIT!”
That..that sounded familiar.. A little too familiar. You heard someone else say that..someone you had listened to.
Another chime from the After Dark Audios app rang once more.
“Kylo are you alright?” You spoke looking at him as he limped to the seat you were in.
“Yeah,” he winced as he gave you a weak thumbs up, “I’ll live.”
“Do you want an ice pack or something??”
“No it’s fine thank you Y/N,” he spoke gripping a leather armchair as his cheeks became red in pain, “Have Mr. Pryde come in 10.”
You looked at him concerned, “Are you positive you don’t need anything??”
“No no,” he weakly dismissed with a wave with a stifled groan, “I’ll be good. Sorry for cursing Y/N.”
I’ll be good, that voice. That voice.
“It’s fine let me know if you need anything,” You agreed as you walked away from his office leaving the door open so he wouldn’t have to pry it open once more.
There was that strange hit of nostalgia, like trying to remember an old song on the radio. You went back to your desk as you heard another After Dark Chime coming from his office. A spark of curiosity came as you pulled out your phone. You switched your phone on silent and pulled up the app. You could feel your breath slightly hitch as you opened it. Your eyes went to the CraftedClassic user name. There was a green online light on his user name. Your palms became slightly sweaty as you hovered over the message board.
Just do it, you urged yourself, It’s a million in one shot.
With a steady exhale you clicked the comments section and went under his status.
‘Take all the time you need! Enjoy your rest!’.
In anticipation, you held your breath and clicked send.
An After Dark Chime rang through.
Directly from Kylo’s office.
A hand went to your temples in panic. Silent internal sirens rang off in your head as you saw a message reply from CraftedClassic.
Thanks DeathMajesty,  I got a special present for my loyal listener when I come back <3 ;)
You silently placed your phone back in your pocket and looked at your keyboard. CraftedClassic was your boss??! But how? Why?!
A heat of embarrassment came on your cheeks as you folded your hands in front of you swinging your chair to show the back of it.
“Son a bitch,” you mumbled in disbelief as the weight of the truth became heavy in your chest.
You knew his little secret.
A/N: Finally here's part 2 of the story, hope you all enjoy this chapter as this was quite fun for me to write. I made a little playlist for this fic and I'm super proud of it. LMK if you guys want to be tagged 🖤🖤🖤 Don't act like you office people don't kill company time on your phone.

YALL IM SOBBING AND CRYING
So like my Samsung broke some months back in October of 2023, got a new iPhone and all my good memes were in Samsung Photos and didn’t backup to Google Photos.
All my good goofy reaction images are on that Samsung, all the ones I have in iCloud are super negative ones I downloaded when I still used Twitter actively in 2021-2022 (dark times).
There’s no silly faces, funny dogs, it’s horrible! And I can’t afford to get my phone fixed (I am not baroque, I am broke 😔📉)
So like, if you could spare a goofy meme for a poor beggar like me since i may delete most of the ones I have right now because I hate them all, that would go a long way to me rebuilding my meme collection (i use memes on a daily basis it’s literally my love language, and my speaking language)
Thank you, a message from the Judey Wudey, PhD, Professor of Being A Silly Goose at the University of Delulu ❤️

For my American Friends
I feel now is a good time to spread this news. Much like how the internet came together to help share information with the Ukrainians for resisting Russia, I’m here delivering help of a similar nature to those that could be impacted by this latest election in the US. There are ways to communicate relatively securely, outside of Big Brother's social media. I bring this up so that we can minimize the amount of gatherable information that could be used to hurt you, or others you know, in the coming years as changes are made. I'm not going to tell you how or why to use them, I'm just going to provide you with the information.
WhatsApp – While not my personal favorite, since Facebook/Meta is the parent company, WhatsApp is free, globally popular, and widely-used, featuring the ability to lock chats with passwords, disappearing messages, photos and videos that are deleted after being opened, profile photo privacy, the ability to lock the app itself so that only your biometrics can unlock it, encrypted backups, the ability to set custom permissions for who can see you online or when you last used the app, and of course End-to-End Encryption for all conversations EXCEPT those with business accounts. WhatsApp is a good option for those who are not really technically savvy, but still value privacy – if one trusts Facebook/Meta to adequately protect their privacy. It does require a phone number to sign up, however.
Signal - Signal is an end-to-end encrypted messaging software. meaning that the contents of your conversation is secure. The protocol they use (which they created) is seen as the best known protocol for asynchronous messaging by cybersecurity researchers. It's so good that it has been implemented in WhatsApp and in Messenger's secret chats. This app has even been mentioned in the Right-wing author Jack Carr's Political Thriller about a Navy SEAL named James Reece, as being a preferred method of secure communication on the civilian side for operators. (Jack Carr is a former US Navy SEAL.) It's run by a Non-Profit organization called Signal Foundation, and it's mission is to "protect free expression and enable secure global communication through open source privacy technology." It allows secure messaging, voice calls, and video calls. The only downside is that app links to your phone number, so while your conversations and content are secure, who you are talking to is not. Signal is available on Windows, Mac, Andriod, Linus, and iOS.
Session - Session is an end-to-end encrypted messenger that minimises sensitive metadata, designed and built for people who want absolute privacy and freedom from any form of surveillance. Session is an open-source, public-key-based secure messaging application which uses a set of decentralized storage servers and an onion routing protocol to send end-to-end encrypted messages with minimal exposure of user metadata. This means no phone numbers, no metadata for digital footprints, and censorship resistance. It features group chats, the ability to send documents, files, and images securely, and has added voice messages, though these can be spotty. It’s slow, but effective, and be downloaded on Android, F-Droid, iPhone, Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Briar - If you have an Android phone, Briar is another option you have. It features a decentralized network (it’s peer-to-peer encrypted, rather than relying on a central server), meaning messages are synced directly between user devices. It also means that even if the internet is down, it can sync via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or even memory cards, meaning information can continue to flow even during a crisis. In the event the internet is functioning, it can sync via the Tor network, protecting users and their relationships from surveillance. Other features: - Screenshots and screen recording are disabled by default - Each user’s contact list is encrypted and stored on her own device. - Briar’s end-to-end encryption prevents keyword filtering, and because of its decentralized design there are no servers to block. - Every user who subscribes to a forum keeps a copy of its content, so there’s no single point where a post can be deleted. - Briar’s forums have no central server to attack, and every subscriber has access to the content even if they’re offline. - Doesn’t require any user data like name and phone number. The downside is that it is text-only and limited to Android Devices, but they do offer Briar Mailbox to deliver messages securely to those who are online at different times. Briar’s goal is “to enable people in any country to create safe spaces where they can debate any topic, plan events, and organize social movements”
Protonmail - A free end-to-end encrypted AND zero-access encryption email service based out of Switzerland, you can safely email with peace of mind that your content is secure. Unlike Google, Outlook, Yahoo, and others, Proton's zero-access encryption means they can't even view the contents of your emails or attachments. As a Swiss-owned company they are not allowed to share information with foreign law enforcement under criminal penalty and they are politically neutral, meaning they won't be pressured by foreign governments. Furthermore, Switzerland has a constitutional right to privacy and strict data protection laws. Unlike companies in other countries, Proton cannot be compelled by foreign or Swiss authorities to engage in bulk surveillance.
Additional Information, from Proton’s Website: Switzerland has strong legal protections for individual rights, and in fact the Swiss Federal Constitution(new window) explicitly establishes a constitutional right to privacy. (In the US, this right is merely implied.) Specifically, Article 13 safeguards privacy in personal or family life and within one’s home, and the Swiss Civil Code(new window) translates this right into statutory law in Article 28.
In the US and EU, authorities can issue gag orders to prevent an individual from knowing they are being investigated or under surveillance. While this type of order also exists in Switzerland, the prosecutors have an obligation to notify the target of surveillance, and the target has an opportunity to appeal in court. In Switzerland, there are no such things as national security letters(new window), and all surveillance requests must go through the courts. Warrantless surveillance, like that practiced in the US where the FBI conducts 3.4 million searches per year(new window) with little oversight, is illegal and not permitted in Switzerland.
Switzerland also benefits from a unique legal provision with Article 271 of the Swiss Criminal Code(new window), which forbids any Swiss company from assisting foreign law enforcement, under threat of criminal penalty. While Switzerland is party to certain international legal assistance agreements, all requests under such agreements must hold up under Swiss law, which has much stricter privacy provisions. All foreign requests are assessed by the Swiss government, which generally does not assist requests from countries with poor rule of law or lack an independent judiciary.
Swiss law has several more unique points. First, it preserves end-to-end encryption, and unlike in the US, UK, or EU, there is no legislation that has been introduced or considered to limit the right to encryption. Second, Swiss law protects no-logs VPN(new window) meaning that Proton VPN does not have logging obligations. While numerous VPNs claim no-logs, these claims generally do not stand up legally because in most jurisdictions, governments can request that the VPN in question starts logging. So the VPN is only no-logs until the government asks. However, in Switzerland, the law does not allow the government to compel Proton VPN to start logging.
We’ve also fought to ensure that Switzerland remains a legal jurisdiction that respects and protects privacy.
Nearly every country in the world has laws governing lawful interception of electronic communications for law enforcement purposes. In Switzerland, these regulations are set out in the Swiss Federal Act on the Surveillance of Post and Telecommunications (SPTA), which was last revised on March 18, 2018. In May 2020, we challenged a decision of the Swiss government over what we believed was an improper attempt to use telecommunications laws to undermine privacy.
In October 2021, The Swiss Federal Administrative Court ultimately agreed with us and ruled that email companies cannot be considered telecommunication providers. This means Proton isn’t required to follow any of the SPTA’s mandatory data retention rules, nor are we bound by a full obligation to identify Proton Mail users. Moreover, as a Swiss company, Proton Mail cannot be compelled to engage in bulk surveillance on behalf of US or Swiss intelligence agencies. (Links can be found at: proton.me/blog/switzerland)

Finally I cracked a phone screen. First time ever since I’ve had a smart phone. I’m careful about handling them, but something happened and I joined the crowd.
That phone still works. But it’s old and the cracks drive me nuts. A good excuse to buy a new phone. The old one I’ll keep for a backup.
Apple isn’t my brand. When phone shopping I sort of wish it was. You can pick which latest generation you want, with a small number of variations or sizes.
I am sticking with Android. At my local phone store, that gave me a choice of multiple brands. Each branch has too many models for my taste. I understand iPhone 12 versus iPhone 13. Samsung A54 versus Samsung S21? Please...
So I set a price point and made an appointment with someone to help me. The guy was super nice. Phone shopping reminds me of laptop purchasing. Decide how much memory you want, select a screen size, and set a price range. The brand doesn’t matter much. That’s why the employee more or less shrugged his shoulders when I showed him the four similarly priced phones. It mattered little which one I chose.
So I picked one. I didn’t want to pay the store to transfer everything. The DIY process at home was easy and fairly fast. The only problem was I had to re-enter a lot of sign-on and password information. That was a pain. Luckily I had a source of all this information and didn’t need to re-set any passwords.
Now it’s 97% set up. I still have to tweak some apps. LIke the Ring doorbell app that keeps telling me someone is walking down my street--every 15 minutes, or the text messaging app that isn’t giving me sound notifications. Easy remedies, I’m sure, but I have to work, eat, sleep. Phone settings are an annoyance to me now.

Hera has an older phone that's dented and cracked along the corners but the screen is largely intact. No nicknames on her contact list but there are emojis before and after names- 💞🩶 for Geonni, 🤎🪱 for Nyphas, ect..
She's considered getting a new phone just so she can take better pictures for Instagrub, but every time she decides she doesn't care that much and goes another half-sweep with the same busted up potato. She has a picture of her and Geonni on her lockscreen and the background is a shot of the desert at sunrise.
Darric has a fully handmade phone that could withstand being thrown at a concrete wall full-force. It's particularly heat resistant and mostly waterproof (pyromancer + often gets covered in blood. lmao) and its chock full of anti-surveillance software. Standard background and lockscreen, though.
Lloric has a beat-up brick of a phone that's barely usable, with multiple shatters on the screen like it got hit with something. There's dried blood in the cracks and the camera is scratched to hell. The background is a picture of him and Missah that she changed it to when they were dating. (He's actually smiling for once.) He doesn't know how to change it to anything else.
Helios' phone appears and functions as normal, but he's altered it to be a suitable storage space if he needs to escape from whatever form he's in at the moment. It even has little legs that can pop out the casing so he can get back to his hive.
Cheran has some stickers on his phone, namely a spiderweb and a bass guitar sticker. There's a chip out of the corner that he's sanded down, but it's otherwise fine. He has the standard background and lockscreen because he feels inexplicably paranoid about having anything important there.
The case of Silans' phone is beat up to hell but the screen is relatively fine (he replaces it when it gets too damaged). His phone has been modified so he can use his eyes to select things and it has a slide-out keyboard. His background is a very bad picture of his lusii's face but the lockscreen is just black.
Raz has a slick fancy troll iPhone that he bullied Kinsra into buying for him when his old one finally went caput. He's magically modified it to scramble attempts to track him through it, and he can also do some other tricks with it. Lockscreen is a picture of Ottana, background is a picture of Kinsra (asleep). There's an arcane ring engraved on a metal plate on the case but that one doesn't actually do anything.
Zara's phone is relatively new and pretty standard. The background is a picture of an art piece she did with her illusions.
Forrin's phone is slightly older and beat up, large and sort of brick-shaped with a waterproof case. The lockscreen is a nice, snowy scenic photo of the mountains and forest, and the background is a cozy shot taken near the fireplace of his hive.
Nari has a cheap, beat up smartphone. His phone is set to redirect calls to voicemail, where the custom message is just him yelling "I'M DEAF YOU DUMB FUCK". Lockscreen and background are each photos of his favorite weapons.
Darvai's phone is completely unremarkable except for that it has some paint smudges on the case.
Nebale has a custom made phone that's completely waterproof, and the screen works when wet/underwater. It's pretty big and the case has extra padding on the corners for grip + protection, but is overall pretty slick and nice-looking. It was a gift from his former employer. Lockscreen is standard, but the background is a picture of the crew of the Argus.
Ro never keeps anything important on his phone and rarely changes the background/lockscreen. Joclyn tends to go through his phone, and has also broken or hid it before. He has a second phone for work (also a backup).
Kairos' phone case is badly damaged, but they've had the glass replaced so it's in good condition. The camera no longer works properly. The background is an old picture of some alien landscape.

heya!!! tech nerd here: cant confirm about apple intelligence having access to your private dms, but on older devices that dont have apple intelligence cpabilities, all the "learn from this app" feature collects is data pertaining to the contexts you use it, not the data within the app itself. it's used for "siri suggestions" within widgets, the siri menu, and spotlight search, and nothing else. (as far as i know.) older siri models are NOT capable of collecting in-app data, and the same likely goes for newer ones. processing of this data is done on-device.
if it brings you peace of mind, do it, however keep in mind encryption on apple services is end-to-end, and the collected data being shared with governments can be found here (https://www.apple.com/legal/transparency/)
all apple would be capable of sharing to do with your messaging within apps OTHER THAN IMESSAGE is: account data if you signed in with apple, and when you use it if you have this setting turned on. within imessage they technically have e2e encryption, however backups are NOT e2e encrypted. if you want e2e encryption, it's now a feature in iOS 16.2+ (Guide to this can be found here: https://9to5mac.com/2022/12/16/how-to-turn-on-iphone-end-to-end-encryption-messages-icloud/)
And your SMS and MMS provider will also hand your messages over too if prompted.
TLDR: Siri isn't tracking your in-app activity, just usage statistics. Turn it off if you want, but it has no use to Apple, and isn't even sent off of your device.
PS: The siri usage tracking has always been active since the introduction of siri. It wasn't "toggled on in a recent update".
Tumblr media
PSA: never discuss private affairs in your DMs, especially contraception and abortion. Social media moguls will absolutely sell you out to the government. There are already cases of people being charged based on evidence in their DMs.

Top iPhones Under ₹10,000 for Budget-Friendly Performance
iPhones are known for their smooth performance, strong build, and premium feel. However, new models can be expensive. Refurbished or second hand iPhones under 10,000 are now being offered for users on a budget. These phones provide a good user experience at a lower cost.
Models like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, and iPhone SE (1st Gen) are commonly in this price range. These devices are praised for their simple design, clear display, and reliable performance. Daily tasks like calling, messaging, browsing, and using social apps can be done smoothly. The iOS system is known for its stability, even on older models.
Before being sold, these iPhones are tested, cleaned, and repaired if needed. Many of them are given a new battery or outer body. This ensures that the phone works well and looks neat. Most trusted sellers also provide a short warranty and return option, which makes the purchase safer.
These iPhones are great for students, first-time users, or as a backup phone. Basic photography, video watching, and app usage can be handled easily. Even though the models are older, the Apple experience is still delivered.
Online platforms offer these phones with full details and authentic images. Customer reviews can also be checked to make the right choice.
Buying an iPhone under ₹10,000 is now possible without giving up on quality. With careful testing and fair pricing, these devices bring significant value. If performance, brand, and budget all matter, a refurbished iPhone is a smart option.

amazon account management agency
Amazon Account Management Agency: Why You Need One in 2025
Let’s be honest: selling on Amazon is not what it used to be. Back in the day, you could throw up a product, run some basic PPC ads, and watch the sales roll in. But now? It’s a different beast. The competition is brutal, the algorithms are smarter, and customers expect everything to be perfect. If you’re not dialed in 24/7, you’re losing money.
This is exactly why Amazon account management agencies have become a must-have for serious sellers. Whether you're a brand owner, private label seller, or wholesaler, working with an agency might be the smartest move you make this year.
But let’s not jump ahead. First, what even is an Amazon account management agency, and why are they suddenly everywhere?
What Is an Amazon Account Management Agency?
An Amazon account management agency is a team of eCommerce professionals who take care of your Amazon seller account from top to bottom. Think of them as your behind-the-scenes command center — optimizing your listings, handling customer service, managing advertising, running reports, dealing with inventory headaches, and making sure you don’t get randomly suspended by Amazon for something ridiculous.
Some agencies are boutique and laser-focused on strategy, while others are full-service, offering everything from graphic design to supply chain solutions. The best ones don’t just keep your store afloat — they scale it.
What Services Do They Offer?
Here’s a breakdown of what most Amazon account management agencies handle. If you're doing all this solo right now, you're probably either burnt out or barely scratching the surface.
1. Listing Optimization
Keyword research
SEO-friendly titles, bullet points, and descriptions
High-converting images and A+ Content
Brand Store design if you’re a registered brand
2. Advertising (PPC) Management
Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and DSP
A/B testing of campaigns
Budget optimization and ROI tracking
Competitor targeting strategies
3. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
Restock planning
FBA vs FBM analysis
Shipment creation
Handling stranded or suppressed listings
4. Customer Support & Feedback Management
Responding to reviews and messages
Managing refunds and returns
Requesting feedback and reviews in a compliant way
5. Account Health & Compliance
Avoiding policy violations
Reinstating suspended listings/accounts
Navigating changes in Amazon policies
6. Analytics & Reporting
Sales dashboards
Ad performance reports
Profit/loss tracking
Custom KPIs based on your goals
Why Hire an Amazon Account Management Agency?
Let’s cut to the chase — if you’re on Amazon to win, not just survive, you need pros in your corner. Here’s why:
1. The Platform Changes Fast
Amazon updates its algorithm and seller policies more often than you update your iPhone. Keeping up with the latest rules, trends, and strategies is literally a full-time job. An agency stays on top of these changes for you, so you can focus on scaling.
2. You Can’t Master Everything
Sure, you might be a PPC whiz, but how are your design skills? Do you understand Amazon SEO like a pro? Can you handle customer complaints while optimizing backend search terms and planning inventory six weeks ahead? Probably not. An agency brings you a full team of experts — each person is specialized.
3. Better ROI on Ads
Wasting ad spend is a silent killer on Amazon. The right agency can turn your bloated PPC campaigns into a lean, high-converting machine. That alone can cover their fees.
4. Faster Scaling
Most sellers hit a ceiling. You do $10k, then $30k, then you’re stuck at $50k per month for a year straight. Agencies bring strategy, data, and execution to help you break through that ceiling.
5. Peace of Mind
Amazon is stressful. Suspensions, bad reviews, hijackers — it's a daily battle. Having an agency gives you backup when things go wrong. And trust me, things will go wrong.

Why Sell Your iPhone in Dubai?
Dubai is a hub for electronics, making it one of the best places to sell Apple devices. Here are some key reasons people prefer to sell iPhone Dubai:
High demand for Apple products in both new and used markets.
Great resale value, especially for newer models like the iPhone 12, 13, 14, and even the iPhone 15 series.
Multiple selling options, including trade-ins, second-hand mobile stores, and online platforms.
Fast cash turnaround — many platforms pay within the same day.
So, if you’re looking to sell phone Dubai, especially an iPhone, you’re in one of the best markets in the region.
Where Can I Sell My iPhone in Dubai?
There are multiple places to sell mobile phone Dubai — each with its pros and cons. Let’s explore the best options:
1. Online Buy & Sell Platforms
You can list your iPhone on popular platforms where buyers in Dubai search for second-hand phones:
Dubizzle — The go-to platform for locals looking to buy used electronics.
Facebook Marketplace — Great for connecting directly with buyers in your area.
Melltoo and YallaBanana — UAE-based platforms focusing on pre-owned items.
These platforms are ideal if you’re looking for the best possible price by negotiating directly.

How to Prepare Your iPhone for Sale
Before you sell used phone Dubai, make sure your device is ready for the next owner. Follow these important steps:
1. Backup Your Data
Use iCloud or iTunes to backup contacts, photos, messages, and apps.

Make sure to disable Find My iPhone and sign out of iCloud to avoid activation lock issues for the new user.
3. Erase All Content

iPhone Storage Full? Find and Remove Duplicate Videos with These 5 Methods If you're an iPhone user who loves capturing moments through video, you've likely encountered a common problem: duplicate videos taking up valuable storage space. Whether from accidental double recordings, shared media, or backed-up content, these duplicates can quickly consume gigabytes of storage without you realizing it. Finding and removing duplicate videos on your iPhone not only frees up precious storage space but also helps organize your media library for easier access and management. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore various methods to identify and remove duplicate videos on your iPhone, from using built-in features to third-party applications designed specifically for this purpose. By the end of this article, you'll have all the tools you need to efficiently manage your video collection and reclaim your iPhone storage. Why Duplicate Videos Accumulate on iPhones Before diving into solutions, it's helpful to understand how duplicate videos end up on your device in the first place: Multiple photo backups: When restoring from different backups or syncing across multiple services (iCloud, Google Photos, etc.) Accidental saving: Downloading the same video multiple times from messaging apps or emails Screen recordings: Creating screen recordings of videos you already have saved Photo sharing: Receiving the same video from different people via AirDrop, Messages, or social media Manual copying: Duplicating videos when organizing files Identifying these patterns can help you prevent duplicate accumulation in the future. Method 1: Using the Built-in Photos App Apple's Photos app includes a basic duplicate detection feature introduced in iOS 16 that can help you locate identical videos. Here's how to use it: Finding Duplicates with the Photos App Open the Photos app on your iPhone Go to the Albums tab at the bottom of the screen Scroll down to the Utilities section Look for and tap on the Duplicates album The app will automatically display all duplicate photos and videos found on your device For each set of duplicates, you'll see options to Merge the files, which keeps the highest quality version and deletes the others Note: This feature only identifies exact duplicates with identical file data. Similar videos with slight differences won't be detected. Method 2: Using the Files App to Manually Search For more control over the process, you can manually search through your videos in the Files app: Open the Files app on your iPhone Navigate to On My iPhone or iCloud Drive where your videos are stored Tap the List icon (three lines) in the top-right corner to change the view Tap on the dropdown arrow and select Sort by Size to group larger video files together Manually check files with similar sizes and names that might be duplicates Preview videos by long-pressing on their thumbnails To delete a duplicate, swipe left on the file and tap Delete While this method requires more effort, it gives you greater control over which files to keep or remove. Method 3: Third-Party Duplicate Finder Apps For more powerful duplicate detection capabilities, third-party apps offer advanced features and algorithms. Here are some top options: Gemini Photos Gemini Photos by MacPaw is one of the most popular duplicate finders: Download Gemini Photos from the App Store Launch the app and allow it to scan your media library Tap on the Videos section Navigate to the Similar or Duplicates category Review the suggested duplicates and select those you want to remove Tap Delete to remove the selected videos Gemini Photos uses smart algorithms to detect not only identical duplicates but also similar videos, making it more effective than the built-in Photos app. Photo & Video Duplicate Cleaner Another excellent option with a focus on media files:
Download Photo & Video Duplicate Cleaner from the App Store Open the app and grant necessary permissions Tap Scan Now to begin analyzing your library Select the Videos tab to focus only on video duplicates Review the found duplicates and check those you want to delete Tap Delete Selected to remove them This app offers a simple interface specifically designed for finding duplicate media files. Method 4: Using iCloud and Mac for Larger Libraries If you have a large video collection, using a Mac with your iCloud account can provide more powerful tools: Ensure your iPhone is synced with iCloud Photos On your Mac, open the Photos app Click on Albums in the sidebar Scroll to Utilities and select Duplicates Filter to show only videos by clicking on the dropdown menu and selecting Videos Review and merge duplicates as needed The larger screen and additional processing power of a Mac make handling large video libraries much easier. Method 5: Smart Storage Management Using iPhone Storage Recommendations Your iPhone offers smart recommendations to manage storage: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage Wait for the analysis to complete Check the Recommendations section Look for suggestions related to large videos or duplicated content Follow the provided options to optimize storage Using Optimize iPhone Storage Feature Enable the optimize storage feature to automatically manage video storage: Go to Settings > Photos Enable Optimize iPhone Storage This keeps full-resolution videos in iCloud while storing smaller versions on your device Tips to Prevent Duplicate Videos Preventing duplicate videos is easier than removing them later: Use iCloud Photos consistently: Don't switch between multiple backup services Check before downloading: Verify if you already have a video before saving it again Use the "Save Image" option carefully: In messaging apps, check if you already have the video Organize regularly: Set a monthly reminder to clean up your video library Use Albums: Create logical albums to better track your content Security Considerations When Using Third-Party Apps When using third-party duplicate finder apps, keep these security tips in mind: Only download from the App Store: Avoid sideloaded apps for handling your personal media Check privacy policies: Ensure the app doesn't upload your videos to external servers Review permissions: Only grant necessary access to your media library Look for reputable developers: Choose apps from established companies with good reviews Conclusion Finding and removing duplicate videos on your iPhone doesn't have to be a tedious task. From using the built-in Photos app's duplicates feature to leveraging specialized third-party applications, you have multiple options depending on your needs and preferences. Regular maintenance of your video library not only frees up valuable storage space but also makes your video collection more organized and accessible. By implementing the preventive measures discussed, you can minimize duplicate accumulation in the future and keep your iPhone running smoothly. Whether you choose to use Apple's native tools or third-party solutions, taking control of duplicate videos will enhance your iPhone experience and ensure you always have space for capturing new memories without worrying about storage limitations.

How to Reduce App Data Usage and Make Your Phone Credit Last Longer
Tumblr media
Are you constantly running out of mobile data while using Netflix, Instagram, or WhatsApp? With a prepaid phone plan, every MB counts. Watching a quick YouTube video or scrolling through Instagram can eat up more data than you realize, forcing you to top up your phone more often. But don’t worry—there are simple ways to lower your app data usage and make your phone credit last longer.
Many smartphone apps run in the background, syncing, updating, and preloading content without your knowledge. This passive data consumption can silently drain your allowance, leaving you wondering where all your data went. Understanding which apps use the most data and how to control them is essential to staying within your limit while still enjoying your favorite online activities.
How to Check Your App Data Usage on Android
If you don’t have unlimited data, keeping track of how much each app consumes is essential. On an Android phone, you can monitor your app data usage by following these steps:
Open Settings.
Navigate to Network & Internet and tap on Mobile Data.
View your total monthly data usage.
Tap App Data Usage to see which apps are consuming the most data.
Set a Data Alert and Limit to receive a notification when you’re close to using up your data.
By regularly checking your data consumption, you can identify the biggest data-draining apps and adjust your usage accordingly. Android also allows you to set data restrictions for specific apps, preventing them from using mobile data when running in the background.
How to Check Your App Data Usage on iPhone
If you're using an iPhone, you can also monitor and control data usage for individual apps. Follow these steps:
Open Settings.
Tap Mobile Network and scroll down.
View a list of installed apps and their respective data usage.
Toggle apps to WiFi Only mode to prevent unnecessary mobile data usage.
This simple adjustment ensures that apps don’t eat into your mobile data when you’re on a 3G or 4G connection. Additionally, you can reset your mobile data statistics every month to track your usage more accurately.
Which Apps Use the Most Data?
Understanding which apps consume the most data can help you stay within your limit. Here are some of the biggest data-hungry apps:
Netflix
Streaming video content is one of the fastest ways to use up data. Here’s how much Netflix consumes per hour:
Low quality: 0.3GB
Medium quality: 0.7GB
High quality: 3GB
Ultra HD: 7GB
To save data, download episodes while on WiFi and watch them offline later. You can also lower the video quality in the Netflix settings to reduce data usage.
WhatsApp
If you use WhatsApp for video calls or send a lot of pictures and videos, your data usage can quickly add up. On average, WhatsApp consumes around 6GB per month. Reduce WhatsApp’s data usage by:
Setting media downloads to WiFi only.
Lowering call quality in the settings.
Turning off automatic chat backups unless connected to WiFi.
Instagram
Scrolling through Instagram can use around 100MB per hour, adding up to about 3GB per month. This is mainly because Instagram preloads videos for smoother playback. To lower data consumption:
Open Instagram settings.
Go to Mobile Data Usage.
Enable Use Less Data.
For best results, try using Instagram only when connected to WiFi.
YouTube
Video streaming is one of the biggest data drainers, and YouTube is no exception. Here’s how much data YouTube uses per hour:
144p – 240p: 80MB
360p: 300MB
480p: 500MB
720p HD: 1.5GB
1080p HD: 3GB
To save data while using YouTube:
Lower the video quality manually in settings.
Download videos to watch offline.
Use YouTube Data Saver Mode.
How to Reduce Background Data Usage
Background data usage is when apps continue to use mobile data even when you're not actively using them. This can happen when apps update content, sync messages, or refresh feeds in the background. To limit background data usage:
On Android:
Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Data.
Tap App Data Usage.
Select an app and turn on Restrict Background Data.
On iPhone:
Go to Settings → Mobile Data.
Scroll down and toggle off Background App Refresh for individual apps.
You can also enable Data Saver Mode (Android) or Low Data Mode (iPhone) to reduce background activity across all apps.
Other Ways to Save Data on Your Phone
Aside from managing app settings, here are additional ways to minimize mobile data usage:
Use WiFi Whenever Possible
Connect to a secure WiFi network at home, work, or in public spaces like cafés and libraries. Ensure that large downloads and updates only happen when connected to WiFi.
Disable Auto-Updates for Apps
App updates can consume a lot of data. To prevent automatic updates:
Android: Open the Google Play Store → Tap your profile → Settings → Auto-update apps → Select Over WiFi only.
iPhone: Open Settings → App Store → Toggle off Use Mobile Data for Updates.
Limit Cloud Backup and Syncing
Services like Google Drive, iCloud, and Dropbox constantly sync files in the background, consuming data. Configure backups to run only when connected to WiFi.
Compress Web Pages in Your Browser
Some browsers offer data-saving features that compress web pages:
Google Chrome: Enable Lite Mode in settings.
Opera Mini: Use the built-in data compression mode.
