hi bestie, can i request smth where harry is filming dwd and olivia keeps trying to get at harry and hit on him but he denies her every time and one day where reader comes to set she and harry are both in harry’s trailer but olivia doesn’t know reader is there so she tries hitting on harry again and starts saying rlly inappropriate things and reader hears and puts her in her place and says that if she ever talks to harry in a way other than a precessional way she’ll expose her or something? idk if that made sense haha and harry gets all happy and is like you are my lord and savior 😭 can you make reader a really bad bitch 😭😭 💕
Hi! Yes, so, I’m changing things a bit because I’m personally not a super big fan of bringing Olivia herself into this kind of stuff but I’m absolutely keeping the premise!! Just changing the antagonist to someone fictional instead! Obviously you can still picture her if you’d like but I hope this will be okay and that whoever asked will still enjoy 😭💞
“‘I know exactly where you can stick that can of tuna, Jack-ass.’”
Harry smirks, eyes peering over the top of his script at you. “The line is, ‘Hi, honey, welcome home.’”
“Oh. Weird. I must have gotten a different script cause mine definitely says the other thing,” you reply innocently, batting your eyelashes as he exhales a soft laugh. “Yeah, see…right there. Jack. Ass.”
“Oh, it does, does it?”
“It does. Strange, huh?”
“Uh-huh. Very.”
You bite at your lip to refrain from grinning as you return your eyes to the page. “Okay, well…I think you’re good for tomorrow’s scene. I mean, it’s kind of all about her, anyway, so…no one will really be paying attention to you.”
“Gee, thanks,” he snorts as he straightens up on the small couch, tossing the script to the side.
“Hey, am I wrong?” You blink. “Hello. Florence fucking Pugh is in the same frame, I guarantee you nobody is looking at you.”
“Oh, well, I’m flattered,” he retorts, hand coming up to his chest in faux appreciation. “No, really. Give me another compliment. I think I’m blushing.”
Your eyes roll playfully as you gingerly chuck a water bottle at him. It flies across the tiny trailer and whacks him in the stomach as he flinches, laughing as it falls into his lap. “Hysterical. Truly,” you bite back. “Been a movie star for five minutes and think you’re the shit.”
He tosses his arms along the back of the couch, settling in a bit further as he nods at you. “S’been at least ten minutes, love.”
“Right, and to this day, iCarly is still your best work.”
“…you know what, I’m not even gonna argue with you on that one. I really did shine.”
“Oh, absolutely.”
“Sucked the shit out of that water bottle.”
“You really did.”
“Oscar-worthy, I’d say.”
“Abso-fucking-lutely.”
He eyes you from his spot, sensing your teasing tone, and before you can clock his sneaky intentions, he’s lifting the water bottle into the air, twisting off the cap, and flinging the water at you.
You gasp as the water effectively drenches your hair, face, and chest. You attempt to shield yourself by throwing your arms up, but it’s too late, and Harry lets out a deep, guttural laugh.
“Oh, you dick,” you squeal, immediately standing as you throw him a peeved look. “See, this is why I don’t take you home to my mother.”
He’s wearing a shit-eating grin as he watches you scramble to the bathroom. “Oops.”
“Oops my ass.” You attempt to wring some of the water out of your hair as you glance at your reflection in the tiny mirror. “I can’t go out there and let Chris Pine see me like this!”
Another laugh. “Why not?”
“Because I love him and I have mascara dripping down my face,” you huff, swiping a knuckle under your eye. “Oh, God, this is bad. Okay, gimme five, I gotta reset.”
“Babe,” he calls with another chuckle. “You look fine—”
“Bite me!” you retort quickly before slamming the door shut. “Shit! Where’s my setting powder?”
You hear him snort to himself from the other side but soon turn your attention back to the canvas that he so elegantly ruined.
It had taken you twenty minutes to get the eyeliner wing this sharp.
You frown as you get to work, and for the next couple of minutes, your focus remains on your own reflection as you hear Harry humming to himself on the couch.
And then…the humming stops.
“Hey…?”
“Hey, so sorry to bother you. I just wanted to check in before you leave, make sure you’re doing all right with the revisions.”
You pause, leaning a bit closer to the door as a second voice enters the trailer.
“Oh…yeah. Went over it this afternoon. I like it, it sounds good. I think it’ll be really impactful.”
“Oh, good. Good, yeah. Yeah, I’m really looking forward to watching you and Florence bring it to life. I’ve said it before, but we really are just so lucky to have you both on board.”
You finally recognize the voice, placing it to the face of the film’s director, Angela. And now that your curiosity is satisfied, you return to your task as the conversation continues to slip underneath the door.
“Hey, it’s all thanks to your vision,” Harry is humbly responding. “I just feel lucky to be a part of it.”
A bit of silence as you swipe your lipstick along your bottom lip before you hear the sound of footsteps climbing up the stairs and into the trailer.
“You’re such a doll. No, really, that’s such a kind to say,” Angela gushes. “You know…this whole casting process was really just…it was so stressful there for a minute but after I saw your audition tape, I just knew you’d be our Jack.”
“Listen, I’m just glad it worked out the way it did. It’s kind of nice to dip my toe into this side of the industry and I’ve got a lot of really great mentors to help me along.”
“Oh, absolutely. I mean, we just have such a fantastic cast. You’re in great hands.”
A beat.
“And, you know, I’ve said this before but…if you ever need anything at all, you just need to let me know,” Angela says. “You’re my top priority, and I want to make sure you feel taken care of.”
“Thanks, that’s really—”
Suddenly, it goes quiet. Far too quiet and for a moment, you wonder if they’ve left the trailer altogether.
You step out of the bathroom and glance both ways, just to check and make sure he didn’t leave you behind.
But instead of an empty trailer, you find Harry.
And Angela.
And her tongue.
Down his throat.
Your eyebrows just about fly off your forehead as you clear your throat and call, “I’m sorry. Am I interrupting something?”
Terrified, and a bit pale, Harry leans back and catches your eye, expression frazzled like a deer caught in headlights.
Angela, however, is a bit slower to remove herself from his body, finally stepping back with a bit of a wounded smile. “Oh, my gosh…I’m so sorry. This…this isn’t how I wanted you to find out, I—”
“Find what out?” you ask just as Harry says, “I’m sorry, what?”
She quickly looks between you both, palm hovering over her mouth as if stunned. “Oh! I’m…I’m sorry, I thought you told her.”
“Told me what?” you repeat, stepping closer, and looking to Harry.
Poor thing looks like he’s about to keel over.
“About…our…arrangement,” she answers shyly, and your eyes narrow.
Harry blinks. “We…what? What arrangement, I—”
“Oh. That arrangement. Got it,” you cut in, nodding as you finally put the pieces together.
Both Harry and Angela turn to look at you, surprised.
“Yeah,” you agree, taking another step as you meet her eye. “Yeah, no. Florence told me about this thing you do where you try to fuck your actors and exploit them for fame. Oh, and how your entire marriage is a sham, and you’re trying to get out of it by pretending you were the innocent, bad-ass feminist just trying to do her job when you were blackmailed into sleeping with your costar.”
She swallows as Harry’s jaw nearly drops.
“Oh, she also told me that if I were to find you…arranging yourself on my man, then I should remind you of section 15, paragraph 3 of the contract you signed,” you add, arms crossing over your chest. “Does that…ring any bells?”
Her cheeks flush. “Look, I wasn’t trying to—”
“I’m sure,” you hum. “But you did, and now you’re done. Thank you so much for stopping by. Buh-bye now.”
And with that, you gesture toward the door.
A rather petrified Angela stands to her feet, knees a bit wobbly as she makes her way for the exit.
And just before she can close the door, you call, “Oh, and just a little tip…when you see the officers? Don’t run.”
The door slams shut before you have the chance to see her expression but something tells you…it was everything.
Now, you turn to Harry, still glued to the small sofa. “Anything you have to say for yourself?”
He straightens up, nearly tripping over his tongue as he begins to explain, “I promise, I don’t know what happened, she just put her hand on my thigh and suddenly it was, like, all the way up my thigh, and her mouth was like…right there, and I didn’t know what to do, and I wasn’t sure what was even happening, or if it was part of the script or something, and I—”
You close the gap between you and take his face between your palms. “Harry?”
He winds down to a stop. “…yeah?”
You grin. “I love you.”
Utter relief floods his features as he sighs and melts back into the cushions. “I love you, too. Thank you, by the way. Ironically, she tasted like canned tuna.”
You laugh as you flop down beside him, whacking at his chest on the way down. “Ew. Poor Nick.”
“Right? iCarly would never do this to me.”
For a moment, you can only chuckle, and despite the rather interesting turn of events…you can’t deny your joy.
“No,” you agree with a grin. “No, she would not.”

@galaxynajma here are the actor/artist/writer isakainess hcs i mentioned earlier 🫡 (this got wayy longer than i was expecting it to be so it's basically a fic outline atp
kaiser started off as a child actor which explains... everything
when he was really young he popped up in a few roles for some pretty big movies
his biggest role as a kid though came when he was about ten where he played a big supporting character in a long-running kids' sitcom (think stuff like hannah montana, icarly, etc)
he's more or less cut off contact with his parents but he was fortunate to get a hold of his money once he turned 18
he's since moved out, rents out his own modest apartment, and he's shown up in a few moderately successful things
he's far from being an a-list actor but he's got a decent following
even though most people wouldn't be able to recognize his face, he can mention the stuff he's been in and people will be like "ohh yeah i've heard of that, i've been meaning to check it out"
he usually has to wear makeup to cover up his tattoo. most of his notable roles came before he cut + dyed his hair
his goal is to become an oscar-winning actor and he was able to get the lead role for a really serious film. his new hair just happened to suit the role
meanwhile there's ness the writer
he started off studying something STEM-related to appease his parents. besides, he needs a backup plan just in case the whole writing thing doesn't work out
but he soon dropped out due to being overwhelmed by how intense his competition was
fortunately enough he's still in contact with an ex classmate and he got some money doing copywriting for their side gig's website
on top of that he started submitting flash fiction and poetry to different competitions and magazines like CRAZYYY just to make a little more money
kaiser stumbles across one of his pieces, looks into him a little more, and finds ness's personal blog
he reads up on ness ranting about his parents and how he has no money
at this point kaiser's kinda fallen in love but he doesn't wanna seem too weird
and he reaches out to ness saying, "hey ik this sounds kinda weird but if you really wanna pursue your dreams but you're low on money you can become my roommate"
at first ness is like "wtf is this guy gonna try to kill me"
but he's late on rent and about to get evicted so he's DESPERATE
he agrees to meet kaiser to assess the vibes
and well. obviously ness falls head over heels in love with kaiser
(obv kaiser isn't gonna kill ness but don't follow in ness's footsteps guys you probably won't end up being as lucky)
and it works out great. kaiser's more than happy to cover most of the rent, he's out most of the time filming, and ness just has this bigass apartment where he's got ample space to work
anyway while kaiser's out and about one day he's at this cafe
there's this one worker on break, still in his apron and everything
he's off in the corner doodling something
the worker is isagi
and kaiser notices isagi is drawing HIM
kaiser goes up to him all smug like "wow, are you a fan? you want an autograph?"
and isagi's like "bro idfk who you are i just really liked your tattoo"
they talk a bit and isagi tells kaiser where he can find more of his work
isagi's mostly focused on digital art and commissions but he's also studying animation
kaiser finds his instagram and commissions isagi
"that napkin doodle you made of me was pretty good but i'd love to see how well you can capture my beauty given ample time (and money) ;)"
kaiser quickly becomes isagi's most frequent and highest paying client
you can say he's basically become isagi's (and to an extent ness's) sugar daddy
but kaiser likes to think of himself of those wealthy patrons from the renaissance
kaiser loved swinging by the cafe to ask about isagi's progress on his latest commission
one day he overheard isagi panicking about not being able to pay rent
and kaiser's like "you can move in with me and my roommate if you want"
and well. isagi does exactly that
ness kinda gets all crazy and possessive like "WHO'S THIS HOW DID YOU MEET HIM HOW DO YOU KNOW HE'S NOT-"
suffice to say he and isagi don't get along at first
but kaiser's never home so it's mostly just them on opposite sides of the apartment, sending glares at each other every now and then
it's BECAUSE kaiser is never around that isagi and ness are forced to bond with each other eventually
FUCK THIS POSTED INSTEAD OF GETTING SAVED AS A DRAFT
oh whatever i'll probably make this into a fic and fill in the rest that way 😭😭
#i might make this into a proper fic someday idk#blue lock#bllk#isagi yoichi#yoichi isagi#michael kaiser#alexis ness#kaisagi#kainess#nessagi#isaness#isakainess#kainessagi

Im gonna try and articulate a thought here so forgive me if this is nonsense but like..... i dont think shipping is the evil of all evils like some people on tumblr like to pretend it is. So many people gripe about the "shipping culture" in fandom like its literally the only thing fans do when that's just like. Patently untrue.
For God's sake, discourse about the themes and writing of different fandoms is like one of the biggest subcultures, not only on tumblr, but on the internet as a whole. There are a litany of video essay youtubers who spend hours talking about the themes, politics, and underlying messages in fucking vampire diaries and The Extended iCarly Cinematic Universe.
Like, kids have been mashing their barbies together since they were in single digits. I for sure made my barbies and kens get married. My first ocs (which were dragons and were very cool thank you very much) were a couple who were in love. That doesn't mean i wasn't ALSO crafting the most fucked up politics and plots that my eight year old brain could think of. Liking it when fictional people kiss doesn't preclude anyone from also understanding the nuances of the source material. Do they always engage with it? No, but that's also not exactly a crime. There's no wrong way to be a fan of something.
If you think fandom culture is solely about and focused on shipping, i don't think you're looking very hard.

I'm Glad My Mom Died, by Jennette McCurdy (January 2023)
Jennette McCurdy's memoir about her relationship with her mother, the impact she had on her both during her life and after her death, and the consequences of being a child actor.
Would I recommend it to anyone? Yes, but not to everyone because it's really "child abuse, addiction and eating disorders", The Book. So you have to make sure those aren't triggers for you before reading this book.
Level of (dis)satisfaction based on the summary and my expectations? I almost never read non-fiction, I'm trying to read more of it so I'm glad I liked this one.
My thoughts on it? I had heard several people say that the narration feels child-like at the beginning and that it was because Jennette McCurdy wrote from child-her's point of view, and I didn't really get what they meant. And then I read it and I understood. As an adult reader, I could understand things that 8-y.o-Jennette or 13-y.o-Jennette couldn't, I could see how toxic and abusive her mother's behavior was. And it was gut-wrenching.
It was a very interesting read on several levels, we see a bit of the reality of child actors, and I think that the people who watched Nikelodeon during the iCarly years etc will sse the show and Jennette in a new light. That said, I also know someone who couldn't finish the book because they were a fan of Jennette and reading it was breaking their heart.
Anyway, Jennette McCurdy is right to focus on writing now, she's talented (and it makes her happier).
btw, i think it's sad that the first thing the official summary says is “A heartbreaking and hilarious memoir by iCarly and Sam & Cat star Jennette McCurdy” while she clearly said she doesn't want to be remembered as Sam. i understand that it's for marketing reasons, but it's still sad

What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?
Stefen/Elena or Elena/Damon or Bella/Jacob
Which ship would you consider your first one?
Lizzie & Gordo (Lizzie McGuire) or Kim/Ron (Kim Possible) Sam & Freddy, Seddie (iCarly) I Was Actually Really Well Known In The Seddie Community
Blue/Magenta (Blue's Clues): If You Want To Go Really Young
I am sucker to the best friends to lover troupe.
Your first fanfic was about which couple?
It was probably an iCarly or Hannah Montana or Harry Potter or Camp Rock Fan Fiction
Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of?
I don't remember it it might have been Danny/Sam (Danny Phantom)
Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?
No, it is too much drama.
Did you used to have any NOTP or have one currently?
I don't really have NOTP. Also, long as it does not erase a queer character's identity. I have seen people seen ship Steve/Robin when Robin a gay, she does not like boys. No incest or no extreme age gaps. Though, there are topic things I like reading about but would never want to watch on the screen.
Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?
Donna/Harvey from Suits
Currently, do you have any OTPs?
Byler, Buddie, Tarlos
Is there any couple that, to this day, that you are extremely mad about not getting into?
Not that I can think of at the moment.
Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they're kind of interesting?
Not that I can think of.
Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
Stiles/Derek, Sterek (Teen Wolf)
I did not take it seriously it was mostly for fun. But it is pretty shitty they used queer-baiting and sterek to promote Teen Wolf. Their primary age teenager and young adult, Stiles and Derek were 15 and 25 when they met they should have not have been encouraging that kind of age gap to their young audience. Though you can not convince my Still was not bi-coded, bi people can still ended up with in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender/sex.
Sam & Freddy, Seddie (iCarly)
If Freddy was a girl and Sam was a boy, their friendship/relationship would have considered abusive and bullying. Boys hitting girls is a big no no.
What is your favorite crack ship?
I don't really have one.
What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?
Probably Mike/Will, Byler or Bucky/Steve, Stucky (Captain America) or Buck/Eddie, Buddie. Again I am a sucker for a good best friends to lovers story.
What do most of your ships have in common?
Best Friends To Lovers or Enemies To Lovers, Loud Outgoing Personality With Chill Sensitive Personality, Introvert & Extrovert, Height Difference, Repressed & Expressive, Curly Hair & Straight Hair
What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
Not that I can think of.
Tagging But No Pressure: @anewkindofme @im-overstimulated-and-im-sad. @actuallyadhd. @lochnesswriter

On a little more depressing note for this time of year, I have read Jennette McCurdy's I'm Glad My Mom Died. Growing up watching ICarly and now having this backstage view is certainly a perspective I am sure none of us would think is true. Even if we did, I think we would deny it because no one would enforce acting with all the money and fame that comes with it. But also comes the pressure and needs of others.
This has been one of the few non-fiction books I have read as I normally do not like to read about real life. But it was amazing to see that not only do fans experience this type of manipulation and support from outside sources, but the rich and famous also deal with the same problems, vices, and struggles that we do.

I’m Glad my Mom Died Review
I’m Glad my Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy is a 320 page Non-Fiction Autobiography. I listened to this as an Audiobook via Storytel.
A heartbreaking and hilarious memoir by iCarly and Sam & Cat star Jennette McCurdy about her struggles as a former child actor—including eating disorders, addiction, and a complicated relationship with her overbearing mother—and how she retook control of her life. Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction,” eating little and weighing herself five times a day. She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail—just as she chronicles what happens when the dream finally comes true. Cast in a new Nickelodeon series called iCarly, she is thrust into fame. Though Mom is ecstatic, emailing fan club moderators and getting on a first-name basis with the paparazzi (“Hi Gale!”), Jennette is riddled with anxiety, shame, and self-loathing, which manifest into eating disorders, addiction, and a series of unhealthy relationships. These issues only get worse when, soon after taking the lead in the iCarly spinoff Sam & Cat alongside Ariana Grande, her mother dies of cancer. Finally, after discovering therapy and quitting acting, Jennette embarks on recovery and decides for the first time in her life what she really wants. Told with refreshing candor and dark humor, I’m Glad My Mom Died is an inspiring story of resilience, independence, and the joy of shampooing your own hair.
I rate this book 5/5 stars.
For me it’s always odd to rate books such as memoirs or biographies of any kind. So, I always try to think “what is the added value of this book?” And for this one it’s a lot. To see how controlling parents are, how toxic certain industries are. If you grew up watching any of the shows Jennette McCurdy starred it, I do recommend this to you, just to see another side of the person we see on screen.
Do you have any questions? Or maybe some recommendations? Send me an ask here on Tumblr or tweet me. If you wish to support me, you can buy me a coffee! Or even buy my debut fantasy novel, The Mending Road.

Okay, let's DO IT
4. Do you prefer painting or drawing?
I consider a lot of paintings as drawings and drawings as paintings, weirdly enough... I do like drawing though because painting can be a struggle sometimes.
9. What’s your current favorite show?
Because you mentioned YOI and it reminded me about the time I really could not stop oggling Yuri every scene of him just made me just stare so deeply in a trance... have not watched a lot of shows lately though... Taibani is pretty good!
10. What’s your go to comfort movie?
I got several from Monsters Inc. to Austin Powers to Cat in the hat to Shrek to Repo: Genetic Opera, they are really nice and comforting to watch sometimes. Chill and funny movies
23. What’s the last show you binge-watched?
Oh my god, the last show I binged-watched was with you ... Was Victorious is ALL I can remember and iCarly. Also that one terrible disney+ series with JOHN STAMOS.
30. Who’s your favorite fictional character currently?
Towa.... And Power & Denji! They really bring me a lot of joy and comfort as of late. There is a lot of characters I tend to just love all together like Kazuaki-kun, especially Kazuaki-kun!
31. What instantly come to mind when you hear the word “love”?
Shows like YOI and Sheith, and Ignoct really comes to my mind when it comes to "love"! They all have shown me different ways of love that are extremely connected and that is growing bonds between each other, as well as unconditional love and support... It's always such a massive comfort
32. What was your first fandom?
I would say Sonic, but I wasn't as deep as I was with Smash bros. Brawl because I was super into it more and for YEAARS on gaiaonline avi cosplaying as one of the fighters and interacted with a lot of the others that loved it and played online with them. Other fandoms that i think were "first" should stay in the dark however.
36. What was the first ship you obsessed over?
It's between Sonadow and FoxFalco... just between those two was the first ship I obsessed heavily over..
37. How old were you when Toxic by Britney Spears came out?
Big fan of Miss Britney Spears, I was 5 years old lmao... I think would listen to it non-stop when I was 6-7. I did not comprehend ANY of the lyrics what they meant, but was jamming to it on AOL Kids..
39. Tea or coffee?
Knowing that you live with me, I drink both... At times I refrain from drinking one of them, but I do love me some tea! I love tea a lot because love talking about the plants and herbs used to make them since you know I love plants.
40. Do you have any collections?
I used to collect bottle caps (Beer ones, sodas, you name it) and rocks... A WHOLE lot of rocks. Now I just collect buttons and figures! Current collection now is just out hatoful bird plushies!
42. Do you have any specific kind of style?
Hm... If in fashion, by default it's goth/lounging style. I like to wear a lot of long sleeves when I can, whether black or not... I do want to wear dress shirts when we are out more though, they are pretty comfy, but I like doing it in layers in which isn't weather friendly or me friendly because of weather. Also... Menhera.
50. What’s something from you loved your childhood that you still proudly like now?
What sticks to me the most is Persona and Yume nikki! The once obscured series Persona has become so big thanks to 4 and ESPECIALLY 5.. but I love just talking non-stop about Yume nikki since it's very much a part of my life and has helped me a lot even if it's just mere "pixel game with no plot than just collect effects", it's so much more than that to me. Plants and bugs (especially moths/Butterflies) are still my specialty enjoyment from my childhood!

My 'Pretty Little Liars' Obsession Led Me To My Best Friend
“Got a secret, can you keep it?” Well, I’ve got one: Though Pretty Little Liars ended in 2017, the seven-season mystery thriller schemed its way into being an integral part of my life for the long haul, so much so that the opening credits live in my head rent-free. To this day, each time I hear the sinister theme song — “Secret” by The Pierces — I’m brought right back to my childhood comfort show (ahem, obsession). The visuals begin with a swipe of mascara, the smear of red lipstick, and a clasp of a heel onto a porcelain doll, which makes me feel like I’m watching someone get pampered for prom. Until, of course, it cuts to four girls standing in front of a casket. It's a chilling moment, one that, until Season 6B, ended with Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) delivering her iconic “shh.” I got cast under the show’s spell the first time I saw it, and I wasn’t the only one: Pretty Little Liars led me to my best friend.
Ironically, plotlines about deceit and betrayal actually helped ignite a long-lasting friendship. In 2011, the only other person I knew to be watching PLL was my now-BFF, Taylor, who’s been by my side for over a decade. We were only about 11 and 12 when it premiered, so shout out to our parents for letting us watch a show that dealt with very adult themes like substance use disorder, assault, and grief. Unlike our classmates, who watched tween-appropriate hits like iCarly and Victorious, we became PLL stans.
As fans know, the show is loosely based on the Sara Shepard YA series of the same name, and the first book was my entry point into the PLL universe. I loved reading about blackmailers and murderers navigating high school, but I thought I was the only one who was into it. (Was this my ~I’m different~ complex showing, or were my peers just naturally more inclined to recap Dance Moms? I’ll never know.) So, Taylor first struck up a conversation with me at school because she spotted the first PLL book on my desk — you know, the one painted with porcelain wax dolls warning to “never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret” in a Gothic script. She asked if I’d watched the TV adaptation yet and we immediately exchanged phone numbers to text about upcoming episodes. We then fell into the fandom. Fast.
I’d never talked to Taylor before this interaction — we had only been in a few classes together — but I always saw her as approachable and friendly. Universally, the beginning of middle school is a big and terrifying year when kids from different elementary schools unite. Eager to meet new people, I reached for friendship at any chance I could get. Taylor made it easy. Aside from being a genuinely kind person (a rare trait for a middle schooler!), she was fangirling over the same thing as me.
Fast forward over a decade later, and the show still feels timeless, especially in its accurate depictions of how dramatic high school can get. It’s no surprise there’s a PLL HBO Max reboot on the way along with the remakes of other buzzy shows from that era (hello, 2010s nostalgia). Ah. It was a simpler time. Back then, Freeform was still ABC Family and for me, Tuesdays meant one thing: PLL is on. What first started as a solo viewing experience soon became a designated hangout time, a time slot reserved for me and Taylor to gush over how much we loved Ashley Benson. (We still do!)
The series had a vibe similar to Gossip Girl or Bridgerton in that a mysterious, unidentifiable pot-stirrer keeps fans guessing each episode, but it was arguably so much better since “A,” the anonymous villain, is out for, you know, murder. Ultimately, it was the type of whodunit that made me and Taylor (and millions of viewers) go down a couple of Reddit rabbit holes — remember the “Aria is A” suspicion? — and this is where my and Taylor’s experience with fan theories began.
Oh, and let’s not forget the location. PLL takes place in the fictional suburb of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, and for two girls from Bucks Country — aka the Philadelphia ‘burbs — we ate it up. The beloved “Welcome to the Dollhouse” episode was exceptionally creepy not only because the Liars get locked into a life-size replica of their bedrooms, but also because our real neighborhood looks extremely similar to their hometown. It operates like Rosewood, too, in that small-town gossip travels at lightning speed.
The Pennsylvania-based plotline also made it easier for us to identify with the characters, who felt like extensions of ourselves. In many ways, we got to know each other through their personalities. Taylor is studious and high-achieving, obviously a Spencer. And I owned feather earrings because I saw Lucy Hale sport them in Season 1, so obviously an Aria. Asking “Are you more of a Hanna or an Emily?” held as much weight in 2012 as asking someone their rising sign in 2021. While it might not say much, it also tells you everything you need to know about a person.
PLL got its start right before live-tweeting shows became popularized, so when we weren’t together, I used to text Taylor on my slide-out keyboard phone (only Zillennials will remember) to compare notes without stumbling upon many spoilers. They read something like this: “Caleb and Hanna are soul mates, TBH.” Like every other fan, we theorized about why A had to be Ian… and Melissa… and Jenna… and Mona… and, you get the point. When our elaborate speculations ran cold, we’d pause DVR’d episodes to gather more clues, like glimpses of Red Coat’s face in her second season introduction, or inspections of those eerie-gloved hands assembling dolls and sharpening knives at the end of each episode.
This game of Clue made room for conversations about all the things. We were in high school during the show’s peak, so it felt like the Liars had laid the groundwork for how to operate our school’s halls. Rosewood High was not traditional — uh, multiple students came back from the dead (*cough* Mona and Alison) — but it did prepare us for the stressors of college applications and first romantic relationships. In fact, Benson’s Hanna Marin would be proud of my matchmaking skills because back then, I introduced Taylor to the boyfriend she’s still with today.
As we both grew up with the show, our friendship got even deeper. The Liars weren’t the only ones to share secrets, and I found it incredibly easy to confide in Taylor. She’s trustworthy, level-headed, compassionate, and an excellent listener. She’s someone I know will always pick up on the second ring and is the type of friend to be there with advice, reassurance, and a quick-witted one-liner. She once joked about never needing a diary because we’ve transcribed the past 10 years of our lives via text.
Our bond has remained strong, especially because the most outrageous PLL-esque plotlines of our lives are ones we’ve experienced together. I love Taylor because I don’t have to provide background for my stories. I’m even so familiar with the cast of characters in her life that when someone re-enters after a long period, I like to say they Alison DiLaurentis’ed her.
And on the off-chance she’s not there to witness something meaningful happen to me IRL, she’s always ready to decipher what went down over texts or dinner and drinks — just like we did when we were teens trying to figure out who A was (minus the wine, of course).
The way she can reconstruct my way of thinking and offer up a perspective I hadn’t seen before is almost paranormal. Whether these are Taylor’s naturally given talents or traits learned from peeling back all the layers of the series, I’m not sure. But she’s always there to decode situations with me — whether they relate to a TV show or during moments when I feel lost.
I couldn’t be more thankful that Taylor entered my life and that PLL played a role in our friendship. I feel so incredibly lucky to know someone like her. Plus, now I have someone who is obligated to watch the reboot with me. Ali was right: Friends do share secrets. And she’s ~quite literally~ the reason Taylor’s got all of mine. Spencer and Aria, you’ve got some competition.

JWCC Sammy Gutierrez and body positivity
THIS IS VERY LONG! (I just have a lot of feelings!) Also, this is personal and doesn’t talk a lot about Sammy and is just one big rant.
Comment I wrote on the S2 preview “Also, shout out to the creators for making Sammy heavy, but it not effecting or having anything to do with her character. OR have her be obsessed with food. I'm sure other 90s kids remember the fat kid trope. Not doing fat logic, but we've come so far from the old days! As a woman who had that kind of body type growing up (had skinny friends, developed early, etc. it all was uncomfortable for many reasons. Long story.), it's amazing to see this kind of...semi-body positivity that's quiet and unspoken in a show aimed at everyone, including girls. If I had seen this character at 13, my mind would've been blown. Kudos!!”
I’m reeeally tired and getting to that point where I get emotional about stupid stuff. However, this isn’t that stupid...maybe?
We’ve reached a milestone, a kind of apex in American society, where being fat is no longer a running gag and it’s celebrated to be thick and/or a healthy weight. (Not to say skinny isn’t cool and it’s sure as heck better than carry 90+ pounds if it can be helped, but, as I said on Youtube, lots of 90s fat tropes were had, were they not? Every body type has their problems, blessings, and issues.) But, health is also a big issue and losing weight is too. I’m all for losing weight, but I also know what it was like growing up a fat kid, then a fat teenager in the 90s and 2000s when we didn’t have representation and people like Tocorra Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Ashley Graham and Rebel Wilson around to promote different body shapes and/or being a little heavy or curvy while still being healthy. (Melissa and Rebel have lost weight and I applaud them full circle!)
Anyway, It is downright uplifting to see Sammy in JWCC like this! Being “thicker” than her two female friends doesn’t slow her down or hinder her in anyway. She is not obsessed with food. She is not constantly eating. Likewise, she has an actual personality and an interesting secret and backstory. The fans seem to love her. She is not dressed immodestly and she doesn’t seem to have ANY negative opinions of her body type, for now. Likewise, in a fast paced show like this, no one is talking behind her back about her weight or eating habits (again, for now. This could change in upcoming seasons, we don’t know.) Come to that, she’s fairly intelligent and isn’t dumb. Like, how many times have we seen a fat, dumb person in a show. (I’m looking at you Chris Griffin and Cleveland Jr!) This could’ve gone SO SIDEWAYS in her character creation any number of ways and I’m just amazed it didn’t. However, this maybe is attributed to the show being an action show and not a comedy? In any case, I’m so glad girls of this generation can see it. I wish I’d had it at their age. (It’s probably because her VA is heavy, but heavier than how Sammy is portrayed, to my knowledge. I’ve only seen her years ago on Disney channel. Who cares why? It happened and I’m glad.) Please be assured, I’m NOT trying promote fat acceptance, just inclusivity, relatability, and representation.
Like I say all the time, I’m not super heavy. I never was. As I said in the comment, I developed early and had mostly skinny friends growing up. I remember being about 11 and hosting my first sleepover and someone pointing to my arms at my stretch marks, asking what they were. I wasn’t traumatized and they didn’t tease me, but I was a little (a lot?) self-conscious. Like, can we please get the idea out of our head that ONLY pregnant women get stretch marks?? (Cocoa butter companies, hello?!) They can happen to girls that grow tall fast or, like me, you can have them all freaking over because the puberty button in your brain got stuck. (LOL?) And calling them cute things like skin lightning doesn’t really help. My limbs and body still look weird.
I don’t remember seeing many characters shaped like me in shows as a kid or teenager. Unless maybe Simpsons characters with their pudgy bellies who may be some of the most average, realistic bodies in all of fiction, really. We can’t all be supermodels and body builders. Sailor Moon girls were all thin and leggy. None of the Magic School Bus kids were pudgy, all average and healthy (which is probably a good thing in a way. IDK. Representation is great, but so is promoting healthy eating and healthy shapes. Everything has their place.) Disney characters were mostly animals at the time, and I didn’t see Recess until Highschool or something at 3 am, and even then, there was only Mikey. Mikey was progressive, but he wasn’t female. Closest I got was Ariel’s (Little Mermaid) sister, Adella ( https://littlemermaid.fandom.com/wiki/Adella) and even then, she had no belly and never animated the same outside of the series with not much character development or anything.
Cassie from Animorphs might’ve been a close second, but, though she was my favorite female character as a kid (not anymore), it was hard to say “OMG, she’s shaped like me!” as it was a book series with few visual aides outside of covers, posters and some toys.
I remember seeing the singing group Cherish for a few seconds on TV once. A bunch of thick, busty, heavy black girls and I was SO EXCITED because for those few seconds on TV, there were girls that looked like me! Then some years later I found out a few of them lost weight and I was like bleh. (I didn’t follow their music or anything, not even sure how I saw them again.) Not that disapprove, health is essential, and I encourage people to lose weight for themselves, but it was nice having some representation. Except health needs to come first. It’s a two-edged sword if I ever saw one.
Don’t get me started on the sheer amount of girls with small/flat chests on TV. (No offense! See above about body types. Again, it’s about representation and seeing someone that looks like you that was not common in the 90s and early 2000s) I’m picky though. I wanted to see more representation, but the minute I saw it, I was not impressed or annoyed. To my better judgement, I saw a few episodes of something I won’t name with a curvy lead. I found her times dressing up as a man unconvincing and confusing because of her body shape. Other times I was, for lack of a better word, slightly appalled at her own size, even though she somewhat looked like me. I know, it makes no sense. Other times, I was mad at Lizzy Mcguire or another show for having skinny characters with A-cups while I was, er, way past training bras and smaller bras by 14/15 when the show was new.
Swearz, I developed (pun not intended!) this weird conspiracy theory that Disney execs have to look at the Star’s mom and other women in their family before casting a girl to make sure she stays thin/average chested for the shows entire run. Outside of one show, all shows in that era had the same thin girl body type. (And not much representation for different races for Disney back then, but that’s another debate for someone to better handle, not me.)
All that said, my shape was attributed to four things: Diet, genetics, lack of exercise and my mom’s cooking. Not sure how much I subscribe to the “genetics effect body fat theory”, but the “genetics effect body shape” is definitely a thing! And hormones in chicken. My family said all I ever wanted when I was little was McDonald’s chicken nuggets all the time, so I think that had some play in how I turned out. It’s probably too much to get into here, and no one cares about my sob story, so let’s move on.
Sammy is awesome and I hope to see more characters like her from other studios in the future. Every body type needs representation, but every body also deserves to be healthy and nourished.
EDIT: WARNING: THE VIDEO AND THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPHS TALK ABOUT ED AND CALORIE RESTRICTION!!
OMAHGAWWWD! I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING ROTTEN IN THE INDUSTRY, Y’ALL!! (Okay, that’s obvious, but you don’t really give it thought in your day to day life.)
The video gives a summary of Jenette McCurdy’s time on iCarly and the horrors she’d been going through in her younger years, which included an eating disorder and restricting calories to an (alleged) 900. Dear lord, that is sickening.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCE1x_chT34
Granted, I would take this with a small grain of salt as it’s from the internet, and undoubtedly, many actresses, probably more than we realize, have ED’s. If they would start encouraging them to be at healthy weights, things like this wouldn’t happen. Frick Nickelodeon and frick the acting industry!!
So, this was what I was trying to convey. Casting and producers need to find that middle ground. Don’t promote fact acceptance, but do not force your actors/actresses to be stick thin either. I could go on a huge tangent, but I don’t have the brain power right now. If you have an ED or know someone that does, I strongly encourage you to get help. I’ve been in tight spots like that (I knew of people or knew people), but getting REAL help from a doctor, professional, or someone with a good head on their shoulders is better than hiding it or keeping it secret. Ten years down the line, you’ll be thankful you did and not have regret. No one is perfect, but sometimes you have to fight harder to find a solution and someone that will actually listen to you and take your concerns to heart.
If I get negative comments, I’ll be deleting this and no one will be able to enjoy it. Think before you type and don’t be a jerk.

Survey #330
“and i don't want ya / and i don't need ya / don't bother to resist, or i'll beat ya / it's not your fault that you're always wrong / the weak ones are there to justify the strong”
If you have a job, do you like it? I'm unemployed. Do you like any kinds of fruit? Well of course. Are you waiting for something right now? Covid and this headache to fuck off, May for my tattoo, to be paid to take some pictures again... What is your favorite kind of animal? Kind, not the actual animal itself? In that case, social species, usually mammals. What kind of Dippin' Dots do you like? Holy shit, I haven't had that in like a damn decade or something. I don't know, I barely remember the taste. Who is the most badass woman that you can think of? My mom. My mother is a fucking warrior. Do you have a Pinterest account? Yeah. I get a lot of photography ideas from there, as well as base pictures to make Mark icons, haha. If you were to write a book, what would it be about? The stories I and my friends have weaved in RP. Have you ever seen the television show The Munsters? AHHHHH YES!!!!! Mom loves that show, so I used to watch it with her growing up. Have you ever written one of those 'Roses are red...' valentines? I don't think so. Would you/have you spent more than $200 on any one person for a holiday? I haven't, but I would for certain people. Do you have a favorite Robin Williams movie? Probably Night at the Museum. Thoughts on Slender Man? Have you even heard of him? I think it's a cool creepypasta; he does look pretty unnerving with his height and especially lack of a face. The movie was good too, btw. Do you know what the Tardis is? I think almost everyone does in this generation, haha. Doctor Who ain't no joke to a whole lot of people. Are there any children's shows that you'd watch today if they were on? Sure, like Pokemon or Avatar: The Last Airbender, among others. I wouldn't at all be opposed to watching The Lion Guard, either. I actually want to, with my whole TLK love. I'm not embarrassed to watch "kids" shows or movies at all. What would you call yourself the King or Queen of? Having not an ounce of knowledge on how to love things in moderation/avoid total obsession with things, haha. If I paid for you to take karate lessons, would you? No, especially not now with my legs. Do you read more fiction or non-fiction? Almost solely fiction. What modern technology are you especially grateful for? Laptops, ig. Do you have a favorite science topic? Genetics. Very fascinating stuff. Have you ever read any Sherlock Holmes stories? No. What is the saddest movie that you've ever seen? Either Johnny Got His Gun or Boy in the Striped Pajamas. What's your most popular post? On what? If Facebook, I don't really know. Possibly my "coming out" one or a lovey-dovey essay when Sara and I were together. On Tumblr, it's definitely the gif I made of Mark and Chica (his dog) with I think over 10k notes. Manga or anime? Anime. I don't read manga, though I've been tempted with Deadman Wonderland since the show only had one season and ends on a ginormous cliffhanger, but there's more story to be had. A card game that you're good at? None, really. A popular book you haven't read yet? To Kill a Mockingbird. I feel like every school student has read it at some point. Favorite Mean Girls quote? I don't know any. It's a fine movie, but I've never understood the hype. Name your top 3 albums from your favorite band/artist. Black Rain, Ozzmosis, and... then I can't choose. I love so, so many very dearly. Name your top 5 music videos. I don't really watch music videos, so I definitely can't name five. My #1 favorite is probably "Wrong Side of Heaven" by Five Finger Death Punch; I absolutely cannot watch it without crying. What are you most passionate about? How did this passion develop? Animals. I was born simply adoring animals and have always wanted to protect them and their environment. Do you like monkeys? Do you believe in evolution? Yes and yes. We've literally watched it in action. What embarrasses you the most in front of other people? Discussing RP if you're not involved in it. I'm terrified of people thinking I'm weird. Have you considered running for president? Absolutely not. Which famous person would you like to be BFFs with? I'd say Mark, but I'd be way too interested in dating him instead of being just friends, haha... So with that said, maybe Bindi Irwin? Would you ever go skinny dipping with the last person who commented you? Lyndsey would be that person, so no. She's a great friend of mine, but realistically I'd probably only ever - if ever - do that with the company of my s/o. Are you still friends with the last person who broke your trust? No. How long did your last relationship last? Around two years. Have you ever been banned from anywhere? Online, yes, as a little kid on the Animal Planet forum, haha... Has anyone kissed you when you weren't expecting it? Yeah, Juan. Did you like it? It was a sweet moment, but I didn't want it. Does your dad smoke? Like a chimney. Is your mom over 50? Yeah. Are you currently listening to anything? Yeah, kinda hooked on "The Horrible People" by Manson. I've found a lot of great music lately. Would you ever consider getting breast implants? No, but once (if...) I lose all the weight I want, it's going to be a moderate priority to get a breast lift. I've hated my body way too fucking long and am dying to be satisfied with it again, and with how much weight I need to lose, I would essentially have grandma tits. :x Do you know anyone who is bisexual? Me, haha. Among some friends. Who would you tell, or who did you tell when you lost your virginity? That's not something I'd just go to tell someone afterwards for no reason... I'd only ever mention having lost my virginity if I was actually asked or if it was relevant to a conversation. Is there something you have been trying to learn lately? I'm really trying to practice opposite action and behavioral activation, among other things I've learned in group therapy. When you think about your future career, do you envision yourself becoming the head honcho or CEO? If not, why not? Well, I want to be my own boss as a freelance photographer. In any other job, I definitely wouldn't want that. Too much responsibility and leadership skills. Can you think of a time when you seriously misjudged a music artist based on their name? I don't think so? Have you ever kissed someone that you didn’t really want to kiss (not assault, just indifference)? Why did you go along with it and how did you feel after? Yes, Tyler. I felt like I was "supposed to." I felt really uncomfortable afterwards. If you have to wake up early for something, what time is just TOO early for you to be there and be presentable and sentient? Have you ever had to be somewhere that early? Probably like, 5:00. No. Have the majority of your romantic relationships started with a physical attraction or a deeper connection? Always an emotional connection. Did you ever write a fan letter to a celebrity? How about submit something to a magazine? No to both. What hair color is the most attractive on the opposite sex? Of natural colors, black, but I like unnaturally dyed hair most. Where do you like to go to when you are stressed? On a carride, so long as I'm controlling the music nice and loud and not talking. Where do you go to get your hair cut/dyed? To a family friend's little salon/small business. Why do you want the career that you want? Because I adore art and think it's pretty darn magical that you can freeze a moment forever to not just remember in your head, but actually see. Have you ever watched iCarly? Yeah, I enjoyed it when I was younger. What was your favorite class during your sophomore year of high school? Art. Do you wear bandanas in your hair? No. Have you ever been on a blind date? No, not interested. How many living grandparents do you still have? None. Have you ever worked in an office? No. Who does the grocery shopping in your house? Mom. Have you ever stayed in a hotel without your parents or older relatives? No. Did you have an Easy-Bake oven when you were little? Sure did. Have you ever seen a donkey? Yeah. Have you ever made out in a hot tub? Pretty sure no. Do you always flush the toilet after you use it? Yes. What were the last words you said to your dad? Probably "bye, love you." Have you cuddled with someone you weren’t dating? Nah. Who has the ability to hurt you the most emotionally? JASON. Are you a really understanding person? Yeah, very. Are you the type of person that enjoys getting hugs? Yes. When’s the last time you wore a wig? For a witch costume many years ago. Why were you last hospitalized? Suicide attempt. What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without food? At least 12 hours, but I think I almost went a day once back when recovery started and my appetite was non-existent. What was the last name of your third grade teacher? Mrs. Britt. How was the last chicken you ate cooked? They were chicken tenders. What is your favorite kind of chip? Hot crunchy Cheetos. What grade did you have your first boyfriend? 7th. Have you ever been told that you’ve lost weight? Yeah, back when I actually WAS losing loads of weight. >> Do you have the same political views as your parents? Some things, but definitely not all. Does anyone call you babe/baby? Are you prone to illness? Definitely not. What races do you usually date? History says Caucasian, but I have no actual preference. I'll date any race. What’s your cup size? C. Ever flirted with a teacher? Yikes, no thanks. Who was the main cook of your Thanksgiving meal last year? My older sister made the most stuff. Have you ever been dumped really harshly? Well, considering it literally traumatized me... Do you have any ex’s you can’t stand anymore? No. Are you more of a phone or a computer person? Computer, definitely. When was the last time you made a sandwich? What did you put on it? Yesterday for lunch. Ham, American cheese, and mustard. Have you ever made friends with someone that you didn’t expect to get along with? Yeah. Do you own any accessories with your name on? No. What brand of eyeliner do you use? I pay no attention to this. Have you ever been sexually harassed? No. Have you ever sent a naughty text message? Suggestive ones, yes. How long have you had your pets? Roman, around two years. Venus, around three or four years. Who was the last person to tell you that they love you, other than family? Sara. Has one of your friends ever tried to hook you up with someone? Colleen tried obnoxiously hard to push Girt and me together. We all went out to eat pizza once just as friends hanging out, and this bitch prefaced an uncomfortable and nosy question to him with an even more uncomfortable "because I'm trying to get you in her pants...", and that, my friends, was the closest occasion I've ever come to slapping someone right across the face. I looked at her in absolute disgust, and Girt was clearly thinking "what the actual fuck" as well. I do not miss her feral mouth. Are you good at staring contests? No. Eye contact is very difficult for me to maintain. Do you like peanut butter? I love peanut butter. When was the last time you had to present something to your class? In this mandatory but entirely pointless entry class at my last college, we all had to do like this PowerPoint introducing ourselves. I hated it. Who was the last person that told you they missed you? I think my friend Chelsea. What store is your favorite shirt from? It's not a real store, but rather an online brand: Cloak. Mark is one of the owners/creators so I obviously support them intensely. Have you ever fell off your bed while you were sleeping? No, thankfully. Do you have something you’re supposed to tell someone, but you haven’t yet? No. What type of food do you never really eat? Vegetables, oops. Have you ever cut someone else’s hair? No. Do you like going to weddings? Not really, if I'm being honest. I'm only interested in photographing weddings for the only the couple pictures and pay, really. I'm not big on formal events. What’s your favorite flavor squash? I don’t like squash. Do you or anyone in your house have a severe allergy? No. Who was the last guest in your house and what were they staying for? Our landlord/family friend, just to hang out for a little bit and chat with Mom. What fad were you actually into? Hm. What was the last spontaneous thing you did? I'm not a very spontaneous person, so I really don't know.

Ode to the fangirls
Thought I’d take this opportunity to contribute to Tyrus week, and say that even though this is my old gmw blog and I don’t post much anymore, I’ve been checking the Andi Mack/Tyrus tags on the daily since season one and I absolutely love witnessing the community your guys have formed.
I’ve been around the fandom block and I gotta say that AM is a truly special show and I have never seen a fandom as positive and supportive of one another. I’ve also never seen a cast and crew so willing to engage and interact with a die-hard fandom, and that’s because you guys have made yourselves a welcoming and approachable to everyone. Please know that while the show is incredible in its own right, you are the people that give it the real magic!
Please never stop loving things and people as unabashedly and warmly as you all do, this type of dedication to art makes the world go around even if it’s seems silly to some people!
I learned how to edit from making icarly fan videos on iMovie when I was 12. I learned how to write compelling characters from reading and writing Harry Potter fan fiction when I was 14. I learned about how to utilize social media platforms for the good of others and build meaningful communities from the YouTubers I was obsessed with in high school. All of these seemingly cringey interests led to me earning my film degree, creating two short films that have won awards at festivals, and landing my first job as a digital marketing video content creator in a big city that I love right out of college.
People might say that this is a dumb show for kids because it’s on Disney Channel. Some of your friends might think you’re weird for being so in to it. NEVER discredit your interests because of what other people think is valid or important. You are all creative, open-minded, empathetic beings that are learning and connecting with others over something you love and that is beautiful!

Get to know me tag meme (tagged by @rumplefloofywoobiestiltskin)
Rules: Tag 9 people you want to know better and answer the questions.
Name: Grace
Gender: Female
Birthday: July 6, 1995, so I’m 23 years old going on 24 now. It feels like my generation is getting old so fast! Like, I can’t believe that Hilary Duff, Zac Efron,Taylor Swift, Vanessa Hudgens, Drake Bell, Josh Peck, Emmy Rossum, Lea Michele, Ashley Tisdale Dianna Agron, and Amanda Bynes are already in their early thirties! I can’t believe Miley Cyrus, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Selena Gomez, Emma Roberts, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Victoria Justice, Sophie Turner, Ariana Grande, Emma Watson, Jennifer Lawrence, Freddie Highmore, Joe Jonas, Miranda Cosgrove, Anna Sophia Robb, Debbie Ryan, Jaimie Lynn Spears, and Dakota Fanning are all around the same age as me! I can’t believe we’re already in our mid twenties to early thirties! It feels like our childhoods were not that long ago, even though they were over ten years ago! It still feels like I didn’t watch Hannah Montana, The Amanda Show, Sonny with a Chance, The Wizards of Waverley Place, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, Because of Winn Dixie, Hairspray (2007), The Bridge to Terabethia, The Suite Life of Zac and Cody, Jessie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Glee, the High School Musical films, Victorious, Unfabulous, Sharkboy and LavaGirl, The Lizzie McGuire series, The Phantom of the Opera, The Twilight Saga, and the Harry Potter movies on TV and in movie theaters when I was a kid growing up with these guys that long ago! I still remember singing You Belong With Me, Teardrops on My Guitar, Love Story, Picture to Burn, Boyfriend, Our Song, Baby, Never Say Never, One Less Lonely Girl, and buying my friend in high school a Justin Bieber album for her birthday because she was obsessed with him back in 2012! I remember being a stupid kid in middle school and high school who thought she was so smart because she managed to read all four of the trashy Twilight novels by Stephanie Meyer in less than a year!!! I remember how fucking stupid I was as a kid for idolizing Edward Cullen’s and Bella Swan’s romance!!! I’ve matured so much since then, we all have, but it still feels like our childhoods/teenage years weren’t that long ago! We’re still relatively young adults! A lot of people older who are over thirty five, would still call us kids, but it feels like we’ve grown/are growing up so damn fast!!! It still feels like we should be babies!!! I think a great thing about those of us in our generation though is just how young most of us still look in our twenties to early thirties for our age!!! Like, I still look the same as I did seven years ago when I was sixteen at nearly twenty-four! Selena Gomez, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice,Taylor Swift, Kristen Stewart, Justin Bieber, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Emma Watson, Emmy Rossum, and Freddie Highmore still mostly look the same as they did over ten years ago! We’re the generation that seems to age well and/or barely age at all, so long as we take care of ourselves! We’re the age of vampires!! Relationship Status: Single, in the romantic sense, but I have my parents, my brothers, my grandparents, my aunt and my little cousins, and a cat for family.
Favorite Color(s): Any shade of pink, red, or blue
Top 3 Ships:
1). Rumbelle (Rumplestiltskin x Belle) from ABC’s Once Upon A Time, but with conditions. I love how much they love each other, and would do anything for each other when they are both in-character. I’m also a sucker for the whole “love redeems” and BATB tropes in fiction, but they also tend to be the ones that the writers love to fuck up deliberately for shits ad giggles at some point on TV shows when they get bored or lazy. That’s why I only accept their individual characters or relationship together when they are both written in-character, so mostly from S1-3A of canon OUAT and in various canon-divergent/AU scenarios thereafter. However, I feel like the same thing can be said about every other remaining main character/ ship in canon OUAT post 3A. There was a serious nosedive in characterization, consistency, and storytelling integrity after Neal got killed off in canon OUAT, and while there were moments where Rumple, Belle, Emma, and everyone else seemed to be like the characters and relationships I originally fell in love with in canon from 3B-S7, I still feel like the show truly ended most organically and satisfyingly with “Going Home” (3x11), and there were serious problems with the writing starting to show with plot versus character driven writing, rape culture, abuse apology, broken rules of magic, plotholes, and character favoritism, even before 3B in S2. But after Neal got killed off, Hook became the main lead, and they started resurrecting the dead with magic when it suited the plot, they clearly didn’t know what the fuck they were doing anymore, and weren’t trying to tell any sort of story at all by undoing everyone’s original characterizations for plot back-and-forth.Everyone was ruined by illogically ooc, inconsistent, and toxic character destroying plot driven inexcusably bad writing that made absolutely no sense, which made them all unsympathetic and unrecognizable from 3B-S7 at one point or another, including Emma, Belle, the Charmings, and Henry, the “good guys,” so I try to pretend it never happened, and quit watching regularly after S5 to preserve my sanity.
2). Jane Eyre x Mr. Edward-Fairfax Rochester from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte-Again, I’m a sucker for the whole “love redeems” trope in fiction, and I appreciate how Edward is portrayed as the “dark” one, while Jane is the “virtuous” one, but neither one of them are without their flaws that go unaddressed, which is a big problem with a lot of “love redeems” couples. Their conflicts become hypocritically one-sided.
3). Anne Shirley x Gilbert Blythe from the Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery-These two started out as frenemies, then became best friends in childhood and adolescence, and then eventually got married. The perfect love story!
Last Song I Listened To: I watched and listened to the Hairspay (2007) musical-comedy film adaptation on Netflix with Nikki Blonsky, Amanda Bynes, John Travolta, Zac Efron, Queen Latifah, Christopher Walken, Michelle Pfeiffer, Brittany Snow, James Marsden, Elijah Kelley, and Allison Janney, and have been jamming out to Miss Baltimore Crabs, The Ladies’ Choice, Good Morning Baltimore, I Can Hear the Bells, You Can’t Stop the Beat, Welcome to the ‘60s, Run and Tell That, Big, Blonde and Beautiful, and Without Love a lot since remembering the music again. Does that count?
Last Movie I Watched: The Silence of the Lambs (1991) with Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins on Netflix.
I’m tagging @ishtarelisheba, @mrgoldsdearie, @sieben9, @emospritelet, @rufeepeach, @ellen729, @pinchtheprincess, @0ceanofdarkness, @thestory812 and whoever else wants to do it.
