Okay, I've been scrolling through the Rise Angst I have saved on TikTok and all the "what if the Krang spike killed Raph?" kind of stuff, and had an idea.

(Not an actual fic thing, just sort of an in-depth headcanon ig?? Or like an imagine sort of thing? Idk)

Tw: Raph dies, Mikey dies, Donnie dies, probably pretty graphic descriptions of zombification

So, imagine Raph actually died from the spike thing, like it impaled all the way through his chest, blood and plastron shards all over, probably some falling on Leo too just for good measure y'know.

Then, he gets dragged back to the lair in Raph's Donnie Pod TM having a full-blown panic attack just like in the movie, but now he's covered in his brother's blood and has to tell everyone that Raph is dead.

Like, bro would be 10x more pissed at poor Casey, Casey's trying to come to terms with the fact that one of the turtles died probably years before he did in Casey's future(partially insinuating that Casey's involvement made this timeline worse), everyone else is freaking out over the fact that Raph died period, and now, instead of his impulsive manhunt being to find and save Raph, Leo's out for blood and vengeance any way he can get it.

He and the team go on to Metro Tower, get split up, Casey starts lecturing him, but instead of taking the character development and learning any sort of lesson from it, he starts yelling back, and the whole thing turns into a massive screaming match because they're both trying to blame the other for what's going on, but they also both can't help but blame themselves more than anything.

After a while, Donnie's transmission asking where the hell they are comes in and they agree to accept the Krang as a common enemy for now.

They all meet up in Metro Tower, and before they spot each other Donnie uses his tracker to try and find Leo

He ends up seeing that Raph is almost directly on top of them and immediately points this out to the group, saying something along the lines of "Hey Leo, I thought you said Raph died in the Foot base..." Leo would respond with a glare: "Yea, he did, why?" And Donnie goes "Then why does my tracker say he's here????"

They all start looking around in a panic until they see the giant cocoon thing dangling from the ceiling. It falls down and cracks open, revealing Raph's bloody corpse slowly morphing into a Krang Zombie.

Out of the 6 living people there (April, Splinter, Mikey, Donnie, Leo, and Casey Jr), at least 3 of them immediately start throwing up at the sight of Krangified Corpse Raph (looks basically the same as OG Krangified Raph except with a giant bleeding hole in his chest maybe with some organs showing and blood dripping from his mouth) and the scene continues as canon with Krang Raph taking the key and the rest of the gang running and dragging each other away.

The Technodrome comes through the portal, and this time, Leo's inspiring speech is more of a half- baked denial-fueled desperate attempt at convincing his remaining family (and himself) that there's still a chance for everything to be okay (especially since none of them have gotten any chance to process or grieve Raph's death whatsoever).

They come up with their plan, Mikey and Donnie do their thing trying to fly the Technodrome, and Leo ends up fighting Raph and it's just so absolutely horrifying for him because imagine watching your oldest brother literally die trying to save you, then watching that same brother's corpse essentially mutated into the thing that killed him, and then having to fight his mutated corpse. Adrenaline is the only thing keeping him from hyperventilating and passing out.

He spends most of the fight desperately trying not to get killed while sobbing and pleading with his brother who very much cannot hear him. Eventually (at some point after Mikey and Donnie get dragged out of the control room, where in canon Leo would be giving his whole apology speech), Raph attacks attacks Leo, who is on the floor backed into a wall, and Leo picks up his sword, screws his eyes shut, and swings as hard as he can. Raph's head falls into his lap, the rest of Raph's body falls off the platform, and the battle is technically won (though it really doesn't feel like it).

Krang Prime is incredibly smug about this development, and it looks like all hope is finally lost. Just then, Raph's ninpo projection shows up (bc they need to get their powers back somehow), shocking literally everyone (himself included). The other brothers are flooded with relief that Raph is alive (he's not. He's still dead, the ninpo projection is legit just his ghost, but they're all in denial so we'll let them have this), and they get their ninpo back through the power of family and love

They decide not to talk about Leo killing Raph's corpse right now because there are infinitely bigger fish to fry and they'll have plenty of time to talk about it after everything else (spoiler alert: they won't)

They do the whole midair fight with the Krang, Raph jumps Mikey and Donnie to the ground ("Don't worry! This is not a hug! It's a rescue!!") except this time when his projection breaks, there no real Raph inside it, so it's just a bunch of disintegrating red particles.

Leo goes through the portal, and Mikey and Donnie don't have enough energy to survive getting him back. Leo exits the portal so happy and relieved to see at least two of his brothers left, tackling them into a bear hug almost immediately, only to notice that they're cracking and flaking apart. He screams and cries and begs them not to leave but there's nothing he can do to save them now. They fall apart in his arms.

April, Splinter, and Casey Jr pick him up in a car that they definitely didn't steal, and Leo has to break the news that he's the only turtle left to save.

Splinter later tries to get Leo to learn meditation to talk to his brothers again, but he's so convinced that they'd hate him that he refuses to even try.

They all watch over him as ghosts, and he feels their presence, but Leo assumes that it's judgement, when they really just miss him and wish he would talk to them

you know what! i LOVE fics/aus/whatever revolvin around TIME SHENANIGANS (biggest example is time travel) and there needs to be more of these with nishiki and so here's a few ideas i've been thinking about...

Back to the past. after the explosion, nishiki wakes up in the past. sort of a second chance i guess :) (alt. kiryu is the one sent to the past. alt2. they both get sent to the past)

Time loop. similarly, after the explosion, nishiki wakes up in the morning of the final battle, except this time he has to relive the same day over and over... and over...

Switcheroo. 2005!nishiki & 80's!nishiki switch places :)

Back to the... future? nothin to do with that movie asgdh just send any nishiki into the future. it doesn't even have to be y0 to kiwami. it could be like. idk. get a nishiki thrown to y5. one of these could be either y0 or 1996 nishiki gets sent to y7. i really want nishiki to meet ichiban lmao

Meet&Greet. well, you know. all the ideas before only had one nishiki running around. but what if the past meets the future :)

Time Out. time stops while nishiki and kiryu are throwin punches. like, it stops for everyone except them.

BACK TO THE PAST

After the EXPLOSION in kiwami, nishiki wakes up in the past. WHEN in the past you wonder? why there's a lot of possibilities... it could be anywhere between y0 and kiwami :') maybe even when they both were younger... tho my personal favourite moments are:

the moment he was pointing the gun at kiryu in y0. (he has a gun! when he exploded he had a gun too!)

the exact moment he killed dojima (yep another moment where he has a gun in his hands... )

LIKE HE CAN MAYBE FIX THINGS OR MAKE THINGS WORSE LMAO. BUT ALSO PLEASE SAVE YUKO... AAA

i havent thought much of this but yea. as for the alternatives. well i wanna talk about alt2 cause its always fun when two characters are sent to the past but they DONT know the other one knows, if u get what i mean lmao

TIME LOOP

OK COME ON, TIME LOOPS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST THINGS.

AGAIN. after the EXPLOSION, nishiki wakes up in the past, except this time he's gonna be stuck in a loop instead :) i think it would be great for it to be the morning of the final battle (alternatively 2 days before the final battle. tbh im a bit unsure of the timeline, but im takin the morning as having reina and shinji already dead, while 2 days prior has everyone alive... depends on how bad things are gonna be for everyone lmao)

this is the idea i have thought of the most but at the same time im incapable of putin it into words aaaa

but just. imagine nishiki having to relive the same day over and over. obviously he doesnt realize hes in a loop the first time, he sees it instead as a second chance to actually win lol. i think nishikis smart enough to actually manage this while having knowledge of the "future". so he wins. gets rid of jingu. gets the money. he thinks he's done it but the loop starts again :) actually, to confuse nishiki a bit, maybe he should get shot at the end of that first loop. so he thinks he just messed up that last part :) but yea. he relives everything again and again and again and what is he supposed to do to escape this hell. (oh he absolutely thinks this is just hell at some point. he died the first time and this is his personal hell....) some scenarios for some of the loops could be:

he ends up killing kiryu instead (for this one the loop doesnt immediately begin again. i want him to go really 'what have i done' for this one lmao)

he shoots/stabs himself the first moments of a loop. he, of course wakes up again like nothing happened

he just. leaves. grab his car and drive out of this place for good. it doesnt work.

i want him to talk about the loop to someone. theres many characters he could talk to... kiryu maybe being the last resort...

i want something funny cause it cant be all too awful all the time. i dont know what tho.

he ends up threatenin/killlin/etc etc quite some people

of course this all ends at some point but aaaa thinkin about it.... thinkin about it.

hm... i would say it's typically anime/animated shows. i kind of have trouble writing fics for actual books as opposed to shows... idk why, i just always have. i've certainly tried before, but it's never lasted long and it was always AWFUL. and idk why (actually i kind of do and could go on a whole rant -affectionate- about this) but cartoons/animation is SO much easier for me to write fanfiction about and interact with and love and... oh don't get me started on why animated shows are superior to everything else

oh God so many ummmmm one of my favorite ones EVER would prolly be... idk the hollow is on my mind and just. vanessa. i literally went into s2 with the mindset of "i hate her she's the worst wonder what evil things she'll do this season grrrr" and came out of s2 like "i will do anything to protect her babygirl so skrunkly so shaped SHE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG". like... God she's SUCH a well written character. and diana kaarina did SUCH a great job voicing her, too! so while this prolly isn't like the BEST development/arcs ever, it's special to me lol vanessa is now my favorite hollow character and i love her so so so much and her development was done so well and smoothly and OUGH

Hello, dissociation tw.

On Friday I was dissociating and I was kinda locked inside my head and I was talking to headmates. Like, idk if someone "was there". And I am not diagnosed with DID and it is only an idea of me.

Usually, when I try to talk to potential headmates, I am like people in horror movies "uhm hey, if anyones there then blablabla" and I feel like an idiot because I am not certain if I even have DID. I just occasionally try to talk to headmates, because if they'd answer, I'd have a proof. And if not, nobody but me will know anyways.

And it felt the same "maybe someones there, maybe it's just me" on Friday but I was talking like I am certain that there is someone. Without thinking much about it. And I only realized until much later and am uncomfortable.

Because either A something made me realize that my idea is right and there are headmates or B I am taking my idea too serious, which I am really trying to prevent. I am honestly unsure how much it is based on facts, it "feels right" but my symptoms could be other illnesses, or overlapping stuff.

Since I didn't think about it and just talked to "someone" it makes me really uncomfortable. Why did I do that? And has it any meaning or was I just brain afk dissociating?

I'm also questioning so please know you're not alone in these experiences.

It's common for newly discovered systems to have poor communication, which can mean you have to try really hard to stimulate conversation and sometimes it just doesn't work. In my experience I've actually described it as a seance, as it's an attempt to communicate with parts, which can be difficult.

I also find that it can be hard for newly discovered systems to get a feel for where one alter ends and another starts. It can be hard on top of the covert nature of DID to try to accept this, but every system looks a little different and just because communication does not come easy to your system or just because it may not be clear who is who doesn't necessarily mean you're not a system.

Also sometimes an answer may not be what you expect. If you ask something internally, you may not get an internal, verbal response. Alters can also reply merely by sharing things like thoughts, emotions, ideas, or imagination, especially if verbal communication is difficult. It can take time and practice focusing to notice these things more clearly.

It can be hard to face the idea that you may really be a system because it not only has a number of potentially overwhelming implications but the covert nature of DID often makes it so that an attempt to acknowledge the system can be blocked.

It's hard because it's unclear what may be going on for you, and so I don't want to potentially invalidate you as a system but I also don't want to lead you to believe something about yourself that may not be the case.

It sounds like you're just trying to figure out what's going on and not necessarily trying to take things too seriously, especially by recognizing that these symptoms may be indicative of something other than DID.

tw/cw: brief mention of rape

Lily finally was back today, school is honestly sososo boring without her. I hated having to just sit in a semi uncomfortable and listen to people I don't even like talk because I have nowhere else to be. She liked the birthday present I got for her which is good and she didn't get assaulted on her cruise which is also good. when I herd about the rape cases that were happening on the boat she was on I swear I was so floored. Like, 2 cases. in less the 48 hours. how?? NEVER going on a cruise (probably). Anyway, today we were offsite to see a play. The peasant prince. It was a play adaptation of the movie mao's last dancer. Idk how relevant that movie is cause I've never heard of it personally until my teacher showed us a trailer. The start was VERY odd, the man character jumping around on the floor like a frog. He was meant to be a child, but it was a grown man jumping around on the floor like a frog and pretending to fart or whatever. not to mention the ending was abrupt, there was a good 5 minuets of conflict in this 1 hour play. he fights government officials, wins and that's it. they didn't explore the conflict at ALL. it was 50 minuets of how the main character got to where he was, it was like those flashback scenes where they have a moment from near the end and then the rest is like a flashback and then they go back to the moment to wrap it up (I hope this will makes sense to future me). Which was okay but It wasn't as satisfying as it could be cause it wrapped up a whole load of nothing. actors were great though, 5.5/10 play. after the play, we went to garb some lunch. I chose subway cause 1. I am NOT going to taco bell. 2. I can get chicken and chips any day I want. 3. cookie. There is no footlong cookie in Australia and I think that's to spite me personally, its an attack on my being. I had a whole feast. It consisted of a footlong (white bread, Ham, cheddar cheese, olives. toasted), chicken bites, two cookies (chocolate chip and double choc) and a lipton ice tea. best part is it was $15. a whole feast for $15 dollars. What's worse is ate it all like it was nothing. scoofed it down in around 6-10 minuets. not before doing some oshikatsu of course, I did a picture of both homu and vyn.. ... my friend gave me the idea to make it look like homu ate the food (see picture here). SOCUTE!! It was so yummy and so filling. then we went back to school. Turns out 10 people vaped on the bus so they all got suspended LMAO. I told my mum about it and she was like "were you one of them?" and I was like "no?" and then she said "I know my little nerd".... EVEN MY MUM THINKS IM A LOSER!!! I had to deal with my classmates.. will note some notable events today: mary was rolling on the floor again, she didn't shut up. so much complaining. she went on a rant about smut books, turns out she likes it ends with us so I know not only is she a porn addict that only reads smut but she has bad taste too... mlb dark romance and collen hoover.. most annoying prepubescent (and self centered) boy in my class has a crush on this sweet quiet girl and he's being not only PAINFULLY obvious but he's being super strange around her and she's just so obviously unconfutable, in response Marys barinrotted self started talking about the good girl x bad boy trope and with the most millennial face (for lack of a better word) she puts her hand to her face and says "that could either really good or really badly" IN THE MOST CRINGE AS MILLENNIAL VOICE TONE DILLVERY I DONT EVEN KNOW. she just ALWAYS finds a way to piss me off like it's a talent. she just has catastrophic levels of pretentiousness. not even prepubescent boy is this infuriating cause at least some what grounded. mary is so far up her own ass, she's gone through her entire intestinal track and back up her neck. It's nearly 11 pm so I'm goingto stop writting bye

Time For the Life Update (10/19)

Hey Ya'll! First i should say that i'm sorry for being nearly inactive for the past monthish (idk who i'm apologizing to i have next to no followers). I went inactive cuz i moved focus to my twitter -go follow if you aren't i'm @/MxBlah- due to it beginning to gain a bunch of traction. However in the midst of the collapse that twitter is experiencing i'd love to be on here more often! I love to vent/rant on here sooooooo lets catch up.

I started high school this year and i'm pretty neutral on it so far. A lot of my favorite people ended up at different schools than i did and the ones who do go to my school don't have any classes with me :( However, the workload isn't as bad as people made it out to be (so far at least).

As for my personal life i'm finally getting my name legally changed tomorrow (as long as the judge approves it which has me nervous). The idea of me getting to live my life as my true non-binary self has got me thinking and i realized a bit of a curse following me... if you know me personally for long enough you will come out to me eventually. THAT is the gay agenda at work right there!

To make things negative real quick i had a falling out with one of my best friends this summer. He was that one intense friendship that every queer person has at one point or another where you are most definitely VERY attracted to them but just can't admit it. He knew I liked him for a bit but he assumed I was over him long before I actually was. He was "straight" but as time went on the joking flirting that i often do turned into something else. That's not why our friendship is strained right now though. (TW for discussions of sexual harassment if that's not something you want to read about skip on to the next paragraph) Basically he started repeatedly asking certain people for nudes and to have sex with him even after they said no multiple times. He only ever asked me for either of those once even though he knew I had been dating someone and we had been committed for a while. It got to a point where he has got his contact with everyone taken away. Even though what he did was fucked up and he hurt people I still don't want to throw away our friendship like that y'know?

Anyways some fun things i've done recently are;

Seeing the eras tour movie with some friends followed by us all sleeping over together

Going to homecoming with my amazing partner <3333333,

And celebrated a longtime friends birthday the same day I celebrated my partners!

Mammon: yep

Mammon balanced the drinks, bag of snacks, and movie that he had purchased carefully in one arm while he knocked on Abel’s door with the hand of the other. “A~bel! Open up! I got somethin’ for ya’!”

It took a minute, but eventually the door slowly cracked open. “Mammon?”

“Hey!” he grinned brightly as he shifted around some of the items he held so he could hold out the movie for them to take. “Time for a movie night! I know ya’ve been wantin’ to see this!” When they took the movie from him to look over, he pushed past them into their room without waiting to be invited in. “I got drinks and snacks too! And I know ya’ got all the blankets and pillows, so we should be good to go!” Mammon spilled everything he held onto the table in Abel’s room before he looked around. All the lights were off. “Sure is dark in here…” He turned back to them, “I didn’t wake ya’ up, did I?”

Abel softly shook their head as they shut the door. “No, I started getting a migraine a while ago so I turned the lights off.” They gently smiled as a look of concern crossed his face. “I took some medicine and I’m better now - no worries!”

Mammon looked them over for a moment before he turned back to the table. “Well, I did get ya a couple o’ these,” he said as he held out a can of Devilbull. “I know they’re yer favorite! And they help with yer migraines! Win-win!” he grinned.

Abel’s smile softened as they took the can. “Thank you, Mammon.” They gently sighed before looking around the room. “Let me get the laptop Levi loaned me. All the blankets and stuff are on that chair if you wanna grab some more for the bed,” Abel pointed to a chair in the corner as they made their way over to their desk.

Mammon looked them over again - noting how they seemed more sluggish than usual - before grabbing all of the extra blankets and pillows from the chair and throwing them on the bed. He didn’t worry about arranging them too much before he shucked his jacket and dropped it on the floor. Mammon grabbed all of the snacks and drinks and threw them all on Abel’s bed as well before climbing on and making themselves a cozy nest.

“Why aren’t we watching this in your room, by the way?” Abel asked as they climbed into the bed - laptop in hand. “You have that big projector.”

Mammon gestured to the bed, “Yeah, but you got all the blankets.” He grabbed one and threw it over his head like a hood, as if to further prove his point.

Abel laughed - but Mammon noted that it was softer and less bright than their usual giggle. “Fair enough,” they said as they began arranging themselves and the laptop within the nest that Mammon had made.

“Ya okay?”

Abel’s head whipped to face Mammon and they stared at him in silence for a moment. “What?”

“Are ya okay?” Mammon repeated as he slid the blanket off of his head. His expression was devoid of all of the joy that he had previously and now regarded them in complete seriousness. “You’ve been...distant lately. From everyone.”

“Oh, yeah,” Abel said as they smiled - a forced one - and turned back to the laptop. “The weather’s just been giving me a lot of migraines, so I’ve been sleeping a lot.”

Mammon was quiet for a moment. “I thought ya normally slept yer migraines off in Lu’s room since it’s quiet.” There was a slight edge to his voice - still gentle, but he knew that they weren’t being honest with him.

Abel froze for half a second before they shrugged. “It’s been happening so frequently, I felt bad bothering him all the time.”

Another moment of silence passed before Mammon grabbed Abel’s wrist - stopping them from prepping the movie. They jumped slightly at his touch before their gaze met his. His sapphire eyes bore into the cerulean of their own. “I know ya’ haven’t been eating.”

Abel did their best to suppress a gasp. They forced a confused look onto their face. “What do you mean?”

Mammon’s expression and tone remained the same. “You’ve been skipping lunch at school. And ya’ hardly eat anything of the meals we have here.” He gently reached out and grabbed their other hand - his eyes never leaving theirs. “Ya’ have a good mask, human. It’s easy ta’ see that yer used to hiding yer negative emotions - ye're even foolin’ Lucifer.” He took a deep breath and let out a sigh as he gently squeezed their hands. “But I know better. I know there’s somethin’ goin’ on that you don’t want anyone ta’ see. But, Abel, ya don’t have to be so strong here - not with me. I’d protect ya’ from anything - ya’ know that. Please talk ta’ me.”

Abel had been frozen in place by Mammon’s words. And at his plea, tears began to well in their eyes. “Mammon, I-...” they whispered.

Mammon tugged them into his arms and hugged them tightly - a blush burning upon his cheeks. “I’m here, Abel. I got ya’. I’ll take care o’ whatever it is. And if I can’t, I’ll be here for ya’ no matter what.”

How…? Abel wondered as tears began cascading down their cheeks. How could this demon break me, when no one else ever could? Their breath hitched in their throat as they began to sob. They gripped onto Mammon tightly and buried their face in his shoulder. He only held them tighter - gently running his fingers through their hair.

After a few minutes, Abel was finally able to collect themselves. They still had their face buried in Mammon’s chest when they finally spoke. “I’m sorry, Mammon…” He stayed quiet and let them continue. “I have anxiety and depression. Sometimes they just get the better of me, for no discernible reason. And when it comes to my mental illnesses, I have very self destructive tendencies. I don’t eat. I don’t sleep. I self isolate. It’s...problematic,” they sighed.

“Can I ask why ya’ never told any of us this before?” he asked, quietly.

Abel pushed themselves back so they could meet Mammon’s gaze. “I’ve never been able to talk to anyone about it before. I was always the one who took care of everyone else and their problems...I didn’t have the strength or resources to take care of my own, so I just hid it. And dealt with it when and how I could in private.” Abel shifted uncomfortably and hugged themselves. “My entire life has taught me not to show negative emotions to others. I exist to help them, not be a burden to them. So, at my lowest, I just fake being what everyone expects me to always be, push those feelings aside, and just...suffer when I’m alone.”

Mammon grabbed their shoulders a bit rougher than he meant to. “Ya’ don’t have to suffer, and ya’ don’t have to do this alone!” His face was red and there were tears in his eyes. “I dunno what yer life was like before ya’ came here, but there are people here for ya’, Abel. We all care about ya’. I-I care about ya’!” He pulled them into another tight hug. “Yer not a burden. I’m here for ya, Abel,” he whispered.

Abel began crying again and hugged him tightly in return.

Mammon > Lucifer

Mammon: idk if ya need to put this in their file er somethin, but Abel has anxiety and depression and gets self destructive

Lucifer: I was aware they had anxiety, but the rest is surprising.

oh boy do i!!! sorry for this taking so long, i started infodumping a little and i wanted to include, like, a decently-sized list.

general warning tht this is based entirely on my own personal taste, and i tend to like shitty (quality-wise) movies sometimes. i'll try n include whatever trigger warnings i can think of so u can pick n choose what ur willing to sit thru! (general TW for blood/gore, obviously)

the evil dead (1981), evil dead 2 (1987) & army of darkness (1992):

these r all part of one series*, n one of my comfort franchises!! evil dead is notorious for bouncing around genres - the first movie is straight-up horror w some comedy, the 2nd is horror-comedy, and the 3rd is slapsticky action comedy w a bit of horror thrown in. it's got sick low-budget sfx, n was directed by sam raimi! the basic plot synopsis is that a group of college students go to spend a weekend in a cabin in the woods, accidentally discover something called the necronomicon ex mortis, and end up summoning otherworldly demons ("deadites"). ash (one of the characters) is one of my fav horror protags ever, and also definitely trans if u ask me. the entire evil dead franchise is pretty much just bruce campbell being a himbo and everything going wrong, it’s a fun time [TW: demonic possession, brief sexual assault (two scenes, in the 1st n 2nd movies; everyone who worked on it agrees they were done entirely for shock value, and u can probably find an edit that cuts them out, or timestamps to skip them), general vulgarity (deadites have mouths on em), self harm (one scene in the 2nd movie), body horror (deadites aren't pretty), emeto] * the series is continued in the show "ash vs the evil dead", however that contains a brief psych ward subplot in one of the seasons, so i'm not including it in this list. those themes are absent from the movies, though!

the fly (1986):

i never shut up abt this movie, ever. it's absolutely devastating. it's a tragic romance and a scifi horror movie all rolled into one. in the movie, a scientist by the name of seth brundle has invented teleportation, and has enlisted reporter veronica quaife to tell his story. one night, seth is drunk and upset and teleports himself - not noticing that a fly is in the telepod with him. the machine is only programmed to handle 1 thing at once, so it accidentally fuses seth and the fly together, causing him to slowly transform into a half-bug-half-human monster. it's absolutely heartbreaking and also the best thing i've ever seen jeff goldblum in tbh. (it's a remake of an old 50s movie of the same name, though this version is a lot sadder afaik) this isn't rlly a super beginner movie i don't think - as i said, it's got a lot of gross body horror, and it's one of david cronenberg's best works (if not THE best of his works), so it's a bit intense - but i will take literally any opportunity to plug this movie. [TW: major body horror, possible self harm? (not sure if it counts if it's not entirely intentional), animal death, insects, pregnancy (both as a subplot and played on for horror), discussions of abortion, alcohol, emeto]

friday the 13th (1980) & friday the 13th part 2 (1981):

i know everyone knows jason via media osmosis, but i feel like the first 2 movies really don't fit people's knowledge of him as a character - i was definitely a little thrown the first time i saw them! idk how much i can really say without spoiling it, but you probably know the basics: teens and/or young adults go to an old summer camp with the intention of becoming camp counsellors, they get slowly hunted down and killed. [TW: in-world ableism (sort of inherent w jason as a character), animal death (extra icky bc this wasn't sfx), implied/referenced child death, general ableism (in regards to psychosis specifically, i believe), flashing lights, shakycam pov, cultural appropriation (a white character mocking native american culture)]

black christmas (1974):

one of my favourite movies ever! ik i'm saying that a lot, but this one's extra good. black christmas came pretty early on in the invention of slashers, and therefore subverts a lot of slasher tropes simply by being created before they were established. it's the good ol "babysitter and the man upstairs" urban legend mixed around a little bit; a bunch of girls at a sorority christmas party are repeatedly harassed by a man on the phone, and end up mysteriously disappearing one by one. this movie gives me total chills. it isn't super bloody, either - most of the kills happen off-screen. it's a total "sometimes your imagination is scarier than what we could show you" deal. [TW: nsfw dialogue (the killer, billy, is dubbed "the moaner" for a reason), off-screen child death (both strongly implied and directly confirmed), general paranoia-inducing content, lots of loud noises (billy definitely doesn't fit the silent slasher trope), alcohol, shakycam pov]

house of wax (2005):

so admittedly i'm a little biased, bc i have a genuine fear of wax figures, but this movie scares the everloving shit out of me. a group of friends are driving out together somewhere in louisiana, when their cars break down - a nearby trucker offers to drive some of them to the nearest town to find help, which they accept. they end up at the small, quiet town of ambrose, with the main attraction of the house of wax - an art piece featuring an entire building, complete with residents, made of wax. without spoiling all the details: it turns out there's a reason the wax figures look so realistic, and it turns out the artist is looking to add a few new ones. it's also hilariously, painfully 2000s, and has a mcr song as the credits song, so. [TW: general uncanny valley weirdness, torture (both active and passive), child abuse (physical and emotional - both shown on-screen), paranoia-inducing shit, the generally ableist trope of disfigured villains, etc.]

scream 1-4 (1996-2011):

(scream 5 is only not included bc it's not out yet and therefore i haven't seen it) scream is one of my favourite movies ever!! it's pretty much what jumpstarted my slasher fixation. it's half a parody and half a genuine slasher movie - it's meta and self-referential and so, so smart at what it does. the basic plot, without spoiling too much, is that, on the 1 year anniversary of the town's biggest court case, the small town of woodsboro is tormented by a serial killer, disguised by a cheap halloween costume, who calls his victims on the phone and asks them for their favourite scary movie. he then has a fun little trivia game with them, and any small mistake they make when answering will lead to their death. it's funny and creepy and so very very gay (seriously - there's a whole lot of strong lgbtq+ implications, and i'm pretty sure the writer has outright stated that certain scenes are full-on gay metaphors between characters). the sequels vary in quality (2 is the best and 3 is the worst imo), but they're all pretty damn fun. i wouldn't recommend jumping into it as your first horror movie, since it references a lot of well-known horror flicks and spoils the endings for a few, but if you're fine with that, it holds up even without the satirical context imo. the first movie is one of few slasher movies where i care about every single character, they’re all so charismatic and memorable (and sid is one of the best protags ever, don’t @ me)! [TW: mentions of off-screen rape (past), manipulative relationships, very mild sexual content (characters talking about sex, sexual innuendos, etc), alcohol, child death (characters in the first movie range from about 17 to 19), casual ableism (e.g. killers being referred to as "psychotic")]

saw (2004):

ok hear me out here: saw gets a bad rep. like, a REALLY bad rep. it's often dismissed as just flat out torture porn, but i'd argue the first movie isn't even close to that - it's a thriller, with some gorey scenes thrown in. the basic plot is that a serial killer by the name of jigsaw kidnaps people who he sees as morally impure and forces them into life-or-death traps, the idea being that if they survive they'll see how easily their lives could end and become better people. he sees it as doing the world a service. the movie itself follows 2 intertwined plotlines: a group of detectives trying to identify the jigsaw killer, and 2 men (dr lawrence gordon, a surgeon, and adam faulkner-stanheight, a photographer) who are trapped together, with the instructions to murder the other man to escape. the entire movie rotates around the identity of the jigsaw killer, and the 2 men trying to find a way of escaping without killing each other. it's a lot of fun, incredibly impressive given the budget, and the ending made me audibly gasp. it's incredible. (also, for bonus points: there's a clip somewhere online called "saw 0", which is the short film that they used to pitch the movie. it's a funky lil extra.) [TW: self harm (on and off screen), torture (it's... it's a saw movie), kidnapping, threats towards children, flashing lights, general trauma]

the texas chainsaw massacre (1974) & the texas chainsaw massacre 2 (1986):

for the sake of transparency, i'm not a super mega texas chainsaw fan. it was one of those movies that was hyped up so much to me that i wasn't as scared as i thought i'd be by it - i remember as a little kid i thought it was real, bc i mentioned the title once and my whole family tensed up and told me not to talk about it. but anyway, general plot synopsis: a group of people are driving through texas, run out of fuel, and end up wandering into the home of the sawyer family, a bunch of chainsaw-wielding cannibals. one of the sons, bubba, makes masks out of the skin of his victims, earning the nickname leatherface. it's a lot of intense, loud noises and long tense scenes and genuinely revolting moments. the sequel is a bit more comedic and slashery in comparison. [TW: cannibalism, mutilation, self harm (brief), kidnapping, slaughterhouse noises are used in replacement of a soundtrack, real human bones were used as props, shit like that]

a nightmare on elm street (1984):

another certified classic! freddy kreuger isn't my favourite slasher, but this movie's pretty damn scary. basically, a group of teens are discussing their dreams and figure out they've had the same nightmare - a man with knives for fingers hunting them down and trying to kill them. it becomes clear to them that if they die in the dream, they'll die in real life too, and the killer they face in their dreams is somehow relevant to their pasts in a way they don't remember. [TW: child death (the main cast are teens), lots of unreality (in dream sequences), implied p^dophilia, repressed childhood trauma]

behind the mask: the rise of leslie vernon (2006):

another comedic one! this is a comedic mockumentary set in a world where slashers are real, and following the story of leslie vernon, a young man who wants to become one. he enlists a news team to make a documentary about his uprising, and along the way ends up legitimately becoming close w them and enjoying their company - which is a bit of an issue, bc leslie still plans on killing people. it sorta seamlessly shifts between comedic mockumentary and genuine slasher movie, and has some moments that genuinely break my heart. (also, if you like leslie and want more of him, he has his own comic series!) ((also also!! one of the side characters is strongly implied to be billy, the killer from black christmas!!)) [TW: there's a discussion at some point about leslie being mentally ill and having been treated for it in the past, though i can't remember the specifics of that reveal super clearly. fire.]

us (2019):

holy shit this movie. i cannot recommend this movie enough. if you choose only 1 movie to watch from this whole list, i hope it's us, bc Holy Fucking Shit this movie is underrated. basically, it comes from the idea that our shadows are their own sentient people, who are mirror images of us and yet forced to live beneath us; this movie is what happens when they get tired of that, and try to take our place. it's a worldwide uprising of people's shadows trying to kill them, and it's fucking badass as all hell - it even has some rlly strong comedic moments mixed in w all the family feels and horror! it's also directed by jordan peele, an amazing black director, and the main characters are primarily black (which i think is worth mentioning, bc i rarely see horror movies fronted by poc!!). [TW: kidnapping, child endangerment, general eerie uncanny-valley kinda situations, child death, paranoia-inducing shit, slight unreality]

warm bodies (2013):

this is a weird one so bare with me: horror romcom. romeo and juliet, except romeo's a zombie. i'm not kidding. that's the plot of the movie. it's fun YA teen romcom bullshit, but the protagonist is a sentient zombie man who regularly eats people's brains. it's not exactly scary imo, but it's still classed as horror and i love it dearly, so i'm including it anyway. [TW: sorta-cannibalism? (he's a zombie sooo) - i can't remember anything else tbh!]

sweeney todd: the demon barber of fleet street (2007):

musical movie!!! benjamin barker comes back to london after years in prison under the new alias "sweeney todd", in order to seek revenge on the man who got him wrongfully arrested in a ploy to steal his wife and daughter away from him. he ends up working as a barber above mrs lovett's pie shop and, in a fit of rage, murders one of his customers. he and mrs lovett figure out a deal: he kills any customers whom he thinks deserve it, and mrs lovett uses their meat in her pies. complete with spooky murder duets and ballads about classism! [TW: cannibalism, implied p^dophilia, mentions of rape, attempted suicide, fire, classism, manipulative relationships]

shawn of the dead (2004):

another horror comedy one!! may or may not be a dawn of the dead parody, but i've still never seen dawn of the dead and i understood it perfectly, so. very british, sorta buddycop-esque comedy set in a zombie apocalypse, with the occasional heartbreaking scene. the main characters are completely normal people and also not smart. it's a fun time. [TW: parental death (it took me 10 tries to get through this movie as a kid), alcohol]

thir13en ghosts (2001):

a family inherit an artistic glass house from their eccentric uncle. upon arriving, it turns out he's been using the house to trap vengeful spirits in the basement, which are only visible when wearing special glasses to see them. it's got tons of cool ghosts, a pretty unique concept, and matthew lillard covered in blood: what more could you ever need? [TW: lots of flashing lights, nudity (non-sexual), child death, i know i put a general gore warning but this movie has A Lot Of Gore iirc so it's worth saying again]

jennifer's body (2009):

(This will probably be a 3-4 part ask, fyi) So I skimmed through Alpha Beta Omega when that post with the photoset popped up, mainly to remember if I've read it before. (I have a lot of opinions on the actions and stuff in that, and that's definitely a fic I can never re-read, but that's not what this ask is mainly about). But anyway: how soon after the video incident did Scott meet & become friends with Stiles? I can't imagine he would know what was happening and not mention it or say (1/3?)

Okay listen. Listen. I can’t remember what I had for dinner yesterday, and I almost always eat the same thing (creature of habit + cheap + lazy) and you’re asking me to remember a fic I wrote when I just started in the TW fandom |D LOL I barely remember any of the fics in the Sterek New Year’s Extravaganza except the ones people seem to always bring up (Quickest Way to a Man’s heart, Not so Beauty, It’s Happening, Your Pain is my Pain, etc.). 

All I really remember from Alpha Beta Omega is that the prompt requirement for that day was Fraternities and I know exactly 0% about frats because 1) Girl, 2) Canadian, and 3) Not involved whatsoever with Greek row at my uni. Like, I’m 80% sure we had frats and sororities at my university --  I just Googled it, we did -- but I know nothing about any of that outside of movies |D AND MOVIES ALWAYS MAKE FRATS SEEM LIKE TRASH!!! So I had to go with what I knew (and sadly if I recall from the comments, a lot of people said most frats are like that. Not all! But most, which is depressing tbh). 

Anyway, in answer to your question remembering like, basically nothing about this fic, I would assume Scott and Stiles didn’t meet until way later. Scott definitely would’ve told Stiles about everything with Derek considering I’m pretty sure (if memory serves) that he left the frat specifically because it was trash and... he fell for his target right? It was Allison or something I think? I DON’T REMEMBER OKAY LOL. But yeah, Scott would’ve 100% told Stiles about the whole thing so they would’ve met after Scott had already left and Derek had already done his part. 

There’s a lot of fics in that entire series I’m honestly not super happy with because again, that was when I first started, didn’t really have a handle on the characters, and a lot of the prompts were things I would never write (frats being one of them, another being the friends with benefits, crossovers, etc.). On top of that, I rushed like, basically all of them because I was trying to get a fic out a day and some of them are LONG |D (I legit remember writing Not So Beauty on the fucking bus on my way home from work for a week because it was the only time I had to write it, and my brain was like “IMAGINE HOW GOOD THIS COULDA BEEN WITH YOUR COMPUTER!” because I defo cut corners. And we’re not gonna talk about the Human prompt because I hate that one and legit wrote it the same day it went up. Mistakes were made during that event, I am not proud, but you learn and grow from things, right? |D 

Anyway, not what we were talking about. Yes, Scott would’ve told him.

- i found out that i have ADD bc my brain doesn't get enough oxygen bc i breath with my mouth and as i told you some time ago; i have a crooked nose so i didn't have any choice lol. so if i'm tHIS SMART with this shitty amount of oxygen... m8 i'm surely i'm fUCKING GIFTED agafshagAGSGHS (it's a joke, but the part of "my brain doesn't get enough oxygen" is tru tho lol)

- i'm taking new medication and i'm completely a nEW PERSON: i talk a LOT more (like... i'm pRETTY extrovert when i'm with my family 💞), i make lots of jokes, i'm overally happier. and i've been looking at myself lately and... i finally see that i'm not tHAT ugly?? even i got new stretch marks on my hips, ass and breasts and i just think they're pretty cute??? it's like...i'm finally ME. (also, but not less importantly, i was always bitter that i didn't indentify with gemini [my actual sign] and i always identified as a taurus, but now i'm more gemini than ever [so pls run the fuck away when u see me agaghssjdg]).

- i got a new haircut and dyed my hair red ✌💕 (the color is almost gone tho 😞)❗❗ face reveal❗❗

- and i've been thinking A LOT about my past, and i've never told you this before but... i was sexually abused when i was child (tho i have mild amnesia), i haven't talked about this with my psychologist yet, but i vaguely gave hints, like: i told her that i cannot have physical contact with men. and thinking about this, my trauma explains a lot of things (my fear for men, my repulse when men touch me [or anyone touches me], my phobia for sex and my sex-repulsion attitude, my sexual drawings when i was a lil child, and worst of all: my hatred towards my own mother and my bad mental stabilty through all my life, also i had awful nightmares when i was a lil kid [but they didn't have anything in common with my abuse, they were just about monsters who wanted to kill me or that i couldn't find my mother no matter how many times i asked people and i was in the middle of a big city, alone (those are the ones i remember), it felt weird that all kids were having happy dreams and i was the only one who always had to suffer when going to sleep :/, but i got used it, even now i still have nightmares]), i have mild amnesia about it, but i can for sure tell you that something happened that (awful) day. and.. i don't want to tell my family, bc it will make them suffer. besides i think i have a part of my mind that constantly tells me that i made everything up and that i am just an attention whore?? one of the things that made me think that i'm making everything up was when i was in the php center and i told this to the therapists, and they didn't give a shit lmao, even the other patients told me if i was confused or if it was from a movie which affected me (the answer is: no, i remember perfectly how i felt just before and after the abuse, i don't remember what happened IN the abuse but something happened [also i don't want to give descriptions bc it will probably affect people who follow me]), the therapists never asked me about it again so... lol. but idk, i just fear that when i have my ""first time"" the memories will come up and... the trauma will be completely open?? bc this happened to a lot of people when they had sex for the first time and they didn't even remember much about their abuse before??? idk guys, i'm just... confused...
