I definitely see Olivia Octavias as a counselor. Probably one that has her own motives to get access to all kinds of powers to research. She isn't as worried about helping the residents as she is interested in just researching their unique powers.

Jonathan Ohnn (who is the Spot since I didn't know his name before lol) is probably an ex-counselor who was a late bloomer with his powers and ended up being a resident after a while of working there.

At first I wasn't gonna agree with your ranking, but giving it some thought, it honestly would be a good ranking for him. His powers, though not directly dangerous as they are pretty much just temporary teleporting spots, can become extremely dangerous if used in the wrong way (like teleporting people into the sky and letting them fall to death or teleporting a heavy object right onto someone).

Jonathan also doesn't have a lot of control on his powers because of getting them so late in life and so accidents can (and probably have) happened that got him kicked from being a counselor and detained. Probably no easy way to contain him though, so he does end up escaping. Man hunt ensues for him.

I don't know about the Renaissance Vulture. Probably not in Nueva York as he probably has a lot of control of his powers. I also only know of him in the movie, nothing of his potential comics, so I don't know how much of a villain he really is. In the movie it seems like he was just scared and freaking out at being teleported to a new dimension which cause collateral damage and then was defending himself from Gwen (I could be wrong though).

So he might just be an elemental made of wood with the power of flight and body manipulation that works as an art studio director or something. I can see him traveling around Europe and working in art galleries. Probably knows of Elivy from visiting France and definitely knows of Eve and might be a regular buyer of her art.

I don't know any other villains other than maybe Green Goblin or this movie's interpretation of Kingpin. I can see Kingpin being a capitalist who works with corrupt companies like Nueva York and Vandelay Technology for some reason and probably tried to get his hands into NSR but Tatiana was too proud for that or wouldn't have fallen victim to his ways (I don't know anything about Kingpin if you couldn't tell. I think I'm making him like how I imagine the Penguin from Batman, which I also barely know anything about lol).

Lavender Jacket Series Jacket Overview: Gorō Yatagarasu

OK FIRST Jacket Overview shall be given to the man whose been on my brain for the last three days because I have actually felt bad about all the torture i've put him through somewhat FIRST ON THE LIST: Gorō Yatagarasu, Zenigata's assistant and new loveable twink of the Lupin Franchise.

Now when it came to Yatagarasu I was initially at a tossup. I really did love the original outfit design he wore in PT5 and If I hadn't found a Jacket I had liked for him odds are I would have just kept him in his PT5 Outfit.

However thanks to my friends @rainymeadows-art and @curleyclown (who was kind enough to do that art for me) I had found the perfect compromise!Unlike the others of the group, his colors don't mean much in terms of symbolism and really are the result of my love for his PT5 palette, and as a result not much of anything really changes in Yata's LJS design compared to his PT5 color palette, minus a  slight color change; his base vest and pants are darker than his original, bearing with it a more deeper color along with his tie. His actual shirt has also had a color upgrade, instead switching to a light blue shirt that matches with the one featured on Zenigata’s LJS Palette change.

However the most important part of his outfit is his socks, which an eagle-eyed person might note are mismatched!

This is because it coincides with a HC I often use for Yata based on what my Grandmother used to tell me when I was younger! The HC stems around the idea that Yata tends to wear mismatched socks whenever he’s in a good mood. This characteristic was implemented by his grandmother who once told him mismatched socks bring good luck! In LJS he mistook one of the dark purple socks he owned for a work related black one

so it's his lucky sock! A deep wine colored sock whose color can be found here!

Yata doesn't know if he really believes in luck anymore with all that's happened in his life, but it brings him some semblance of comfort when he's having a rough time, and maybe there is something to be said about Luck with how lucky he got in all this

OK, I think it's time to actually commit words to writing and actually stick to them. I have tried several times to write this post, and on several occasions have even managed to do so, but I've never managed to follow through on my stated commitments. For the most part this is because, well, I simply didn't want to, because I knew it would be difficult, but I think I've reached a point where it would be far more difficult not to.

Let me cut to the chase: Dale's Ramblings, on WordPress at least, will be going on indefinite hiatus. There are several factors at play here, from the fact that I simply don't find the average quality of the books at this time to be good enough to make the project as much fun as it has been in the past, to my ongoing university studies, but the main reason is... well, I'm sick.

I have, of course, known this intellectually for a while now. It's been about a year since I actually started to figure things out and realise how profoundly affected I had been by my long COVID. Frankly, the fact that I was able to write as much as I did in 2024 - 252,000 words, let's recall - even in spite of being ill is something of a minor miracle.

And more to the point, I did all that because... well, it was fun. Like, I say it's become less fun, and in an objective sense yeah it probably has; I'd rather be still reading books like The Also People than Kursaal or War of the Daleks. But, like, it was still fun. Tremendous fun. I can't stand books like Kursaal or War, but I look back on those reviews with quite a lot of fondness, and I think I've done some of my absolute best writing over this past year.

But there comes a point where you have to weigh the fun in one hand against the realities of your body in the other, and the fact is that I'm sick. I have, in all likelihood, been pushing myself a mite too hard at times, but I wouldn't have done it if I didn't sincerely get enjoyment out of every syllable. If it stopped being fun, I would have stopped, and I'm lucky enough that Dale's Ramblings has never stopped being fun.

Yet I also realise that I can't keep up this gruelling production schedule forever, chasing arbitrary deadlines for no greater reason than my own neurotic desire for neatness and symmetry.

So, then, a hiatus. We've done them before, but this one still feels harder because I desperately *want* to continue. And I will, some day; I've already committed too much energy to the idea of this project as my weird, sprawling autobiographical magnum opus. As much as it's about charting the Wilderness Years, Dale's Ramblings is just as much about charting the evolution of some scrawny suicidal fourteen-year-old into... well, we still haven't quite figured out an ending just yet.

Consider this a weird blip in our chronology then, a literary caesura, to be followed up on at a later date.

Which leaves us with the Ko-fi, as eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that I've already put up two of the three book reviews for April 1998, thinking as I did that I'd release them in March to coincide with the next anni-VARsary. I won't, obviously, but I will keep them up on the Ko-fi for those who are just dying to get a sneak preview, and you should be getting an additional 9,000 word review of The Hollow Men in the next couple days once I give it the final readthrough. Oh, and I'll probably cover Andrew Cartmel's Swine Fever for free on here as well.

There might be further Ko-fi exclusive early access reviews published in the coming months, but they will not be coming with anything like the current rate of regularity or reliability. I don't know exactly when they'll be going public, I suspect I'll want to hold the entire volume until I finish it so I can write without deadlines looming over me.

Is that greedy of me? Perhaps. But again, I'm sick and, for the foreseeable future at least, unemployed. This is, for now, the only way I pull in any sort of income that I can really call my own. If you can support the Ko-fi at all, even if it's just for one month or it's just a one-time payment, it would be greatly appreciated, but if not, I mean, I'll still be here. Just, y'know, rambling with a little less frequency or structure.

But I think any sense of structure went the way of the dodo when I ditched the dedicated "Positives" and "Negatives" sections of my reviews, really, so I think this was always just going to be my cosmic fate.

Gosh, it's been a hot minute since I've thought about this au. But it still remains one of my favorites! Here are some soft headcanons I have for the au (along with some other random hcs, as I have a lot of Thoughts for this au that I've been waiting to Spill!!!)

This is more of a world building headcanon, but I imagine that demons like to sleep in nests. Usually this just means they get a old blanket or two from their owner, and the demon will curl up on the ground with it. Which makes you so confusing. When they come to your house and you have a fully decked out nest, with a collection of different blankets, all different textures and weights. What was even more surprising was the futon you laid out for them. For once they had the option to sleep on something that wasn't hardwood or, if they were lucky, carpet.

This is less of a headcanon, and more of something I assume as Canon in every (soft) pet au, but I always assume that the reader has all 7 demon brothers, or will get all 7 brothers once one of the brothers settle in and tell the reader about their brothers. Then the reader will track down each brother and adopt them. I also imagine that another reader (usually different from the reader who has all the brothers) adopted Diavolo, Barbatos, and Simeon. I imagine that the reader will adopt Diavolo first and then get Barbatos to help them take care of Diavolo because he's a high-class demon. I don't have a concrete idea on how they acquire Simeon after, but I think it would be an accident. Like they found Simeon abandoned and brought him home. I also like to imagine that both readers co exist in the same world, just because I don't like imagine one group not having a kind reader.

Out of all of them, I definitely think Diavolo is the most touch starved. He just isn't used to being touched gently. At least with the brothers, they all had each other at some point. Simeon is an angel, so he's been thought of as a more "softer" pet, and thus, humans wouldn't be opposed to cuddling with him or giving him a hug. Barbatos hasn't been touched much, but he is still very well behaved, so once in a blue moon, he would have gotten a gentle head rub. Plus, Barbatos thinks being a good pet means that he shouldn't want for anything, so it's not like Barbatos is begging his owners for cuddles.

Diavolo, on the other hand, wants to be cuddled. He wants to be kissed and held and for his owner to run their fingers through his hair. But he never had a litter mate, and he's a very high-class demon. So his previous owners were a little afraid of getting too close to him because they were worried he might lash out (even though that was furthest from the truth).

So when you come along and start casually touching him, Diavolo absolutely melts. You could playfully ruffle his hair as you walk past him, and Diavolo will get stars in his eyes, and thank you a million times. He will roll over and show you his belly if you so much as glance at him. When Diavolo realizes that you intend to keep softly touching him, he gets absolutely addicted. He knew he was touch starved before, but now it's like he's a thirsty man in a desert who just got a drop of water.

He's absolutely clinging to you, hands around your ankles, head rubbing against your thighs. He doesn't even care if he gets punished for being so needy. He just needs you so bad he'll accept any treatment you give him.

Lucifer is definitely like one of those cats who pretends like it's a completely coincidence that you two are in the same room. Sure, he wouldn't go into the living room all day, but when you go into it and start watching TV, he suddenly needs to be in there too. He won't engage with you. He won't even glance at whatever you're watching. If you offer a seat next to you, he'll scrunch up his nose and refuse.

But he'll watch you, of course you'll never catch him eyeing you. Whenever you turn to look at him, his gaze is somewhere else, but the moment you turn your focus back to the TV, you feel his eyes back on you. Slowly, he'll start moving closer to you, so quietly thar you don't even notice until you feel a weight against your leg and you look down to see Lucifer leaning against you, his gaze still nowhere near you.

Mammon definitely hides his valuables under furniture. He also has a pretty lose definition of what is "valuable," so basically, anything shiny gets pushed under the couch. He thinks he's being sooooo sneaky with hiding his stuff.

You drop the remote under the couch and find like necklace pendants, dead batteries, tinfoil, shot glasses, and like 50 pennies. He pretends that those things have ALWAYS been under your couch! But he gets all pissy if you try to take anything away.

He also hides all the toys you buy him. You'll buy himself something new and the next day it is gone. If you ask for it, Mammon will likely go get it to show that it's safe, but he refuses to tell you where he hidden it away.

Asmo LOVES Pinterest and has, like, a billion boards. He also somehow has 100k followers on it? He gets absolutely obsessed about the different room aesthetics, and there have been many times where you come home and see a completely new living room. He's one of your demons that can NOT be trusted with an unlimited credit card. He WILL spend three grand on fairy lights and will not be sorry about it.

Beel loves eating from your hands. He's a bit embarrassed admitting it, so it's just a fantasy for a while. Until you fed one of the brothers (probably Mammon, tbh, when he proclaimed he wasn't going to eat something he ate many times before. So you tried to convince him by holding it up to him by your fingers) and Beel couldn't help the sting of envy. Beel always found it was easier to admit he wanted something when someone else got it first.

So he shyly knocked on your door, holding an armful of his favorite snacks. It still takes him a minute to admit what he wants, and he's so grateful when you catch on and ask if he wants you to feed him. After that, your private snack time becomes a common occurrence.

Levi loves to redecorate his tank. He loves having his own space that is completely his, something that was a foreign concept to him before you took him in.

Barbatos will never admit it, but he can't stand the cold at all. He tries his best to hide this fact, and he's usually able to keep this hidden from his past masters (he doesn't like to think about the ones who figured it out), and when you first take him in he was determined to keep this a secret from you. Even when you're so nice to him, even when you give him comforts, no one else did, even when you don't punish him. This only moves him to keep his secret more, as he believes he shouldn't "trouble" you.

You only find out about his secret when you two are cuddling together in bed one winter night. It's a little chilly, and you think about turning up the heat. But before you can get up, you feel Barbatos shiver and cuddle closer to you. When you feel him shiver, you know instantly that he isn't a fan of the colder weather.

It makes sense. He is a cold-blooded demon. So you have no problem keeping the house warmer. You also buy Barbatos his very own collection of heated blankets. One for his own nest, one for your bed, one for the couch, and a few scattered around.

Barbatos knows that he's been found out the moment you present the blankets to him, but he can't find it in him to be scared like he did with previous owners. He knows that you'll never take advantage of his weaknesses to create harsher punishments for him. Plus, he finds that he quite likes to be taken care of.

I actually have a whole headcanon on how Solomon becomes a pet even though he's a human. I haven't had the chance to share it until now, so here you go!

So, I imagine that Solomon owned pets himself, he actually owned a lot of them (Asmo and Barbatos included, though maybe not in the same time frame). He wasn't a cruel owner, though maybe a bit neglectful as he was very focused on his studies. He mainly kept demons to study on and obtain demonic powers. He archived immortality by doing this, but it also came with a price; his soul was seen as more demonic than human.

So when he gets found by other humans, they assume he's a wild demon in hiding. So he gets put in a pound. No amount of convincing from Solomon makes the workers see the truth. They have heard dozens of stories from demons in their human forms arguing that they're really a human.

Solomon spends a long while as a pet, going from different owner's hands. He finally understands some of his previous demons behaviors, as the lessons get drilled into him.

When you take him in Solomon has been pretty broken in, believing that he's really just a pet. Through your kindness does he start to regain some of his humanity, and learn that he doesn't mind being a pet if he's your pet.

Fennesz: “Flure? Lato? What is it?"

Flure: "E-err... By chance, we got some delicious banana muffins...! We thought we'd share them with you all! Uh, I believe Mr. Haures likes them, right? Oh well~! It's really just a coincidence~!"

Ammon: (F-Flure… That's so obvious...)

Fennesz: (He seems nervous.)

Lato: "Earlier, Professor Miyaji bought them for us. But apparently... It's for Mr. Haures…"

Flure: "Woah! Lato! Don't!"

Haures: "Hm? What's wrong?"

Flure: "Uh, well… Lato was trying to sneak a bite! Ehehe..."

Lato: “Oh, well? I'm only interested in parsley, you know? Why would you tell such a lie, Flure?"

Flure: "Oh, come on...! Be quiet! Lato! A-anyway, here are the banana muffins! Mr. Haures and the others can have them, okay? Well then, excuse me!"

Haures: "Flure... I see... Thank you."

Lato: "Hmph... I don't really understand... But... I'll take my leave too."

Boschi: “Geez... It's already late at night. The lord is probably asleep, right? You can't eat muffins when you're asleep.”

Haures: "R-right..."

Boschi: “Quit hesitating… if you get it already, let's eat right away."

Fennesz: “Yup... That's right."

Ammon: “OK ♪"

Haures: "Yeah... right."

Ammon: “Then, let's dig in ♪ Mmm! Delicious!"

Fennesz: “It really is! Delicious!"

On the day of David Lynch's passing I want to reccount my most Lynchian experience. Partly because all the smart people are already saying all the smart good words about him, but mostly because I think he'd get a kick out of it.

I work in disability and I used to work in a group home for disabled people. Let me say off the bat that the disability aspect was NOT AT ALL the Lynch-like part of the story.

There was a man living in this house who we'll call Johnny Hill. Johnny Hill loved music, playing with water, wooden spoons and hiding things under his bed as a joke. He was also autistic and legally blind.

Because he was legally blind, his parents gave him two things that were crucial to this story; a cuckoo clock, so he could hear the time change, and The World's Worst Toy called Clarence the Clown. You know those stackable rings that are on a pole. It was like that but with the facial features of a clown. I was worried about finding the words to express how horrifying this toy is but I've shockingly found a video.

This was Johnny Hill's favourite toy; the clown with the tear-away face.

So here is what happened from Johnny Hill's point of view; He wakes up in the middle of the night. He can't tell it's the middle of the night, being blind and everything. He gets up, sits in the armchair in the corner of his room, and starts playing with a toy. I come in and weirdly snap at the poor guy to "go to bed!" He does and goes back to sleep.

Got it? Literally nothing creepy happened and I need you all to understand that.

So here's my point of view:

I knew I had about two or three night shift coming up, and in this particular house you had to be awake the whole night in case of emergencies. It was always a struggle but I had recently began experimenting with a new technique. The night before a run ofnight shifts, I'd stay up until around three o'clock. The idea was that by staying up I'd sleep in later the next day and then on my night shift I could push through the whole night without being to exhausted. It didn't end up working, but it was worth a shot.

So how did I plan to stay up until 3 the night before?

I thought of a great plan.

I'd finish off Twin Peaks.

This was not a good idea.

Because that meant the next night at around two o'clock in the morning I was awake, by myself, in the group home, with Laura Palmer's backwards screams still echoing through my psyche.

And while I may have been okay stay in the brightly lit office (which was actually a corner of a kitchen) I had a job to do. What job? Sneaking quietly through the house and checking on all the people living there every hour, to make sure they were asleep, not having a seizure etc.

So coming up to three o'clock, I gather all my courage and make my checks, terrified that I'll see this at the foot of one of the guys' beds

Johnny Hill was on the opposite end of the house he was last. Naturally, I didn't want to wake him if he was asleep so I crept into his room to check, eyes straining to see in the dark.

Only to find his bed empty.

Suddenly I hear a noise that sounds like circus music coming behind me. I span around to see a figure sitting in the dark, pulling apart a laughing mechanical clown heads, just as the cuckoo clock went off in the background.

It's the only time in my life I was too scared to scream. Which was lucky because I would have woken the entire house.

It took me at least thirty seconds of pants-shitting panic to realise the man in the chair was Johnny Hill.

I'll admit I was less than chill when I said "Johnny Hill! Back to bed!"

It's very funny in retrospect.

David Lynch talked a lot about fate. I don't believe in fate the same way he seemed to. But I am prepared to admit this; a lot of really fucked up coincidences had to aline for me to experience one of the most surreal and petrifying moments of my life the day after I finished the original run of twin peaks.

There is no real point to this post. Other than I'm going to miss that delightful weirdo that once, though the power of his art, almost gave me a stroke at work.

Full Episode Commentary

1x17: Let The Right One In

Good is bad and bad is good. This episode shows what would've been possible had Stefan not tried to control a situation and been honest rather than secretive. 1x17 is written in combination with 1x15. My re-watch post for that can be found here. This is another anti-Stefan episode, and again, it's of no coincidence that Caroline makes reference to The Bachelor in 3x20.

The episode opens with a storm in Mystic Falls, and it's written in combination with the end of 1x16. "Your girlfriend Bethanne is dead. And you have no one to blame but yourself." Lucky for Elena, Frederick doesn't have access to her house because he hasn't been invited. If he did, it wouldn't be the storm blasting her window open. He would've entered her home the way he entered the Salvatore boarding house. It's because of her vervain jewelry that Frederick couldn't compel Jenna. They're pulling a four-ship... Stelena, Datherine, Alaric/Isobel, and Frederick/Bethanne.

It's not about patience for Frederick. He's a sadist that wants to kill every last one of the founding families. Through him and Bethanne, they show the hell Damon would've been capable of had they not opened the tomb for him to rescue Katherine. Trust me when I say, as bad as fans think Damon is, he could've been worse according to their choices. Had they not opened the tomb, he'd be more like Frederick.

Damon and Stefan are recovering from the break-in. "I say we go to Pearl's, bust down the door, and annihilate the idiot that attacked us last night." Damon has no problem going after Frederick a different way, he has a problem not going after Frederick at all. Damon knows he won't stop because he knows this is about revenge. Had Stefan listened to Damon, Damon wouldn't have to save Stefan. To put it bluntly, Damon should've went hunting for Stefan while hunting for Frederick because he knew Frederick wasn't done. Stefan just killed his girlfriend, which gave him all the more reason for revenge.

Elena wasn't there when Pearl handled Damon. Had she been, she wouldn't be spitting nonsense in this scene. She'd speak to what she's really pissed about... "How long are you going to blame me for turning your birth mother into a vampire?" Damon knows it's not about the deal he made with Pearl or the tomb vampires. "I've accepted the fact that you're a self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities." This is now the second time she's referred to him as a psychopath. Relevant because he and Stefan are the same. Elena is remarkably naive. It would take more than both Salvatores to kill Pearl, so Damon has no choice but do as she demands. Better he get information about Katherine than nothing at all. Elena pushes Damon enough to annoy him. Have the beauty of Elena's comment as it becomes reality...

Stefan: I'm perfectly safe. I have Damon, the self-serving psychopath on my side. Elena: Well, that's comforting.

Jeremy and Anna further discuss her vampirism. This is why Damon feels the need to kill Caroline in season 2…

Jeremy: Wait. Does your mom know you're a… Anna: The fact that you would even think it's possible to keep something like that a secret from your own family is just further proof that you're not ready.

Jeremy has no idea that he's wearing vervain. He assumes the bracelet Elena gave to him was simply a gift. He's trying to gift it to Anna, but she tells him he should wear it. Matt talks to Caroline about the argument he had with his mother. He would've benefitted being patient. Had Elena given up on Damon and Stefan as Matt gave up on his mother, both would be dead along with her. A difference between not being ready and never being ready. It's never good to rush any kind of emotional process. Some people take longer than others.

Damon is winding their grandfather clock. He and Stefan are often written with clocks because time is an underlying theme. They're vampires. Apparently, the sun has to be shining bright for them to burn in it. Storms that darken the sky allow for vampires to roam freely. Had Elena answered Damon's phone calls, he and Alaric would've went to Pearl's house without her. She's only involved because Damon needed an answer, so he went to her house. I love Damon's instinct to save Stefan.

"Never let this bad man in." This is how they follow-through with A Few Good Men. "First few weeks, every single nerve in your body screams with fire. The kind of pain that can drive a person mad." This is what Stefan was doing to Damon in 1x5... starving to desiccation. It's also the truth of Damon in season 5. "Despite every nerve in my body wanting to break something or hurt someone…" That's the power of magnified emotions. Damon explains to Elena that he wants to save Stefan, but Frederick compelled the homeowner not to let him in. Elena could go in, but it would be an instant death for her. Every ounce of pain that Stefan suffers is for the sake of feeling what Damon feels. This is the depth of Damon's humanity...

That's why they're in the basement. It's a representation of the tomb. This is what it's like for Damon to have his emotions so magnified that it causes physical symptoms. Harper interrupts, tries to stop it. "You're gonna want to let go of me! Miss Pearl is no longer in charge." I would've loved to see Frederick try. I have no doubt in my mind that Pearl would've killed him had she came home to find him torturing Stefan.

I laugh at Damon and Alaric in their initial confrontation. Damon knows he could hurt Alaric if he wanted because those rings come off. It's how Alaric and Jeremy respond that drives Damon. He said nothing about wanting Alaric dead, and Alaric got cocky with him. "That's a shame. Because the woman in charge of the crowd can help you find your wife." He hands Alaric a partial lie for the sake of getting into Pearl's house. "And if she's related to Elena, that means she's related to Katherine." While Pearl knows nothing about Isobel, she has access to that information in having access to Katherine. "Katherine and I were best friends long before we came to Mystic Falls, Damon. I know how she thinks, I know her patterns, I know where to find her." He fails to tell Alaric that Pearl would have to get the information from Katherine.

"Look, I wake up every day, and I feel okay. But there's something missing. Like a… like a hole." I'm gonna pull a post on holes one of these days, but this line from Jeremy is the reason finding Vicki's body is necessary. I love Anna's list of reasons they turn people. She turned Ben and Logan to do her dirty work, and admitted this to Damon in 1x13. "I like to use others to do my dirty work." Pearl and Anna meet Tyler and his father, Mayor Lockwood.

This is your three-car collision preparing to work together to save Stefan. What would've been possible had Stefan not tried to control the situation. Damon makes a soundtrack reference, Up Where We Belong. A track that is better suited for a vampire dating a human, not a human dating a vampire. I also consider it better suited for Damon than for Stefan, for Elena's role in his journey.

"I can't protect you, Elena. I don't know how many vampires there are in there. That's how long it takes you to get your head ripped off. I have to be able to get in and get out. I can't be distracted with your safety. Or this will end up a bloodbath that none of us walk away from... including Stefan. I know. I get it. I understand."

I know fans would like to believe that Alaric's response in this scene is due to him sensing Damon's love for Elena, but no. Damon has yet to fall in love with her. This is about the vampire that killed Isobel, that killed Alaric's wife and Elena's mother. It's about Damon and what Alaric assumed/believed of him. It's because Elena connects Damon to his humanity that Alaric sees the man rather than the monster. Damon's comment is the difference between the tomb and its representation. The vampires aren't desiccating anymore, so he won't risk Elena going in. If not for Alaric's Gilbert ring, he wouldn't be pulling him in either.

I really wish Caroline hadn't found Vicki's body. At least not this early. lol… Alaric has a trusting face. Frederick lets him in, and he walks through the house as if he's not afraid of being fed on. He immediately notices the bite marks on the homeowner and stakes one of the vampires. Damon kills the homeowner, and is being honest with Ric. Vampires can't override compulsions, and Damon doesn't have time to figure out a loophole.

Damon expected Alaric to get him into the house and leave. He planned to take out all the vampires and rescue Stefan by himself. The lone ranger, as Elena termed him. While I do believe he could've, Stefan wouldn't have survived Frederick. Animal blood weakens Stefan in every aspect… compulsion, hearing, healing, etc. Easier to torture Stefan than Damon. Not only because Damon is on human blood, but because he's an Augustine vampire. Mayor Lockwood informs Pearl that Anna is hanging out with a Gilbert. She fears this because he's a founding family member. Because there's a reason the pocketwatch and the Gilbert ring were passed down to him. He was meant to track and kill vampires, according to his family. When Alaric goes back to the car, he realizes Elena went into the house. "Damn it, Elena!" lol… this is Damon's girlfriend. "Are you insane?" Again, Damon's girlfriend. "That was the moment I realized you were the perfect girl for me because you were just as crazy as I was."

Only Damon could make Elena this crazy. There's a comfort she has with him that allows her to feel safe enough to be this bold. The same comfort she had when he talked her into baiting Noah.

Caroline decides to walk in the rain, hoping to get a signal so she can call for help. She slips down the hill and reaches for a tree branch. It reveals Vicki's body when she pulls. Pearl confronts Anna about Jeremy. "His family is the reason I was stuck in a tomb for over a century." Pearl has the same issue with the founding families that Damon did. That's why he wanted revenge on current families. Hate breeds hate, and it's the same with the Whitmores. Damon set aside his desire for revenge against the founding families because Katherine wasn't in the tomb. It's the same for the Whitmores. He can't trust that they no longer torture vampires, so Elena has to stop him from killing Aaron. He will kill them so long as they exist. Killing Aaron ended the cycle because Aaron was the last of his family. Pleasing Elena and trusting her are two different things. Damon wouldn't spare anyone to please Elena. Everyone he spares, he spares because he trusts her. That's the kind of power Elena has over Damon just by having his trust. "That doesn't mean he'll make the same choices." Why Damon was gonna spare Aaron. Pearl smacks Anna when she admits Jeremy knows she's a vampire and he likes her. She feels that risk just as she felt it with Damon and Katherine in 1864.

Katherine: No one will ever suspect us. Pearl: Not unless a human tells them. Damon: I'd sooner die.

The difference between these two is that Damon was in love with Katherine and turning to be with her. Jeremy wants to turn to be with Vicki, not for Anna… and Caroline just found Vicki's body. But after 2x1, you can see why Delena ends up in parallel with Jeremy and Anna, and just as much understand why Jeremy connects with Damon. He's more like Damon than Stefan, even in the fact that he continues loving Vicki dsspite knowing she's a vampire. Love is one of those things in which Stefan has yet to mature. He still refuses to accept that he fell in love with a vampire, and he certainly still refuses to date one. That's why Elena is the first girl he's been romantically involved with since Katherine. Rebekah is different. Had he his humanity on in the 20s, he wouldn't have given her a second look. If not for his hate for vampires, I guarantee Stefan and Lexi would've been a couple.

Damon and Elena make it into Stefan. Again, the basement under the house is a representation of the tomb under the church. This time, it's Damon who's rushing them out. "Guys, come on. We have to get out of here. Come on, we gotta go." Because the vampires are no longer desiccating, Damon has to distract them in order to give Stefan and Elena enough time to leave. But that's really only part of it. He has every intention of killing Frederick because he knows he won't stop. Damon is the brother they want in times of war because he knows the enemy as he knows himself. It's one of their biggest positives with his character. Had it been Damon rather than Stefan in Chicago with Klaus, Katherine would've trusted him because even she knows the difference between them. It requires something specific to fool Damon.

The real battle starts when Frederick realizes it's too quiet. Another instance where the beauty of silence is the noise of no words. Damon is killing Frederick's friends lol. It's Elena's silence in season 3 that fans fail to understand. When she gets caught for lying and Stefan confronts her about it in 4x2, best to question how far back her lies go lol. Damon drops a body for the sake of getting the vampires to spread out. It gives him a better shot at killing Frederick. Trust me when I say Damon is a badass. Frederick runs after Stefan because he'd rather fight someone he knows he can beat.

Damon is all-rage here, so there's no beating him. They took the wrong brother to torture, put it that way lol. This is the second vampire Alaric killed. He didn't have to save Damon, he chose to save him. "I'm going after Frederick!" Yes, that's how badly Damon wants Frederick. He's not gonna let him live, period. When Stefan and Elena get in the car, Elena realizes that the vampires tore up the wiring. She can't start the car. That's when Frederick smashes through the passenger window and yanks Stefan out of the car. Frederick would rather fight the vampire he knows is already weak because of his torture. The problem isn't the torture as much as it's Stefan's diet. If it were Damon they tortured, he'd still be beating the hell out of Frederick. He's about to kill Stefan when Elena injects him with vervain. If you want to know why Damon is Elena's escort in 1x19, it's all about the dead mothers...

Damon is the only brother, the right brother to dance with Elena in honor of her dead mother. Because unlike Stefan, Damon would've allowed Anna to rescue Pearl. Anna had every intention of getting her mother out of that tomb, that didn't mean she intended to kill Elena. It's because of Elena's blood that Pearl was able to get out of the tomb AND Stefan is able to survive Frederick. Stefan is just as much like Damon, believing he's the one that chooses who becomes a vampire and who doesn't... who lives and who doesn't. He was gonna deny Pearl a life with her daughter. That's why he shouldn't escort Elena.

Poor Alaric finds out how hard it is to truly fight a vampire. Damon walks back in because he can't find Frederick. If he knew Frederick was with Stefan, he'd be saving Stefan because he knows how weak he is on animal blood. He's still very pissed and intent on killing him. "Frederick's gone. I'm gonna kill him." Feel the level of rage Damon has towards Frederick in this episode, how long that rage lasts, and you'll understand why he kills people impulsively...

"You're dead." This is with every emotion... love, loss, fear. Going forward in my re-watch, it's best to refer back to this episode because that's how powerful his emotions are. For Damon, there's no thought to killing Frederick, he simply goes for the kill. He's basically forced to think first because he hasn't been invited in. That lack of an invite is the only thing stopping him from killing. That lack of an invite is part of Elena's role as Damon's Lexi-sponsor. She acts as a seal on a door that stops him from kiling people, that makes him think before he acts. He basically has to go through her, and he refuses to. Had she done this in 2x1, Damon would've pulled a full-stop on killing Jeremy. This kind of behavioral modification requires repetition and time. It's not just about getting him to think first. It's about getting him to stop because he's like the Ripper that way. So when he finds out Stefan killed Enzo in season 5, know why he's able to stop at one punch. I say this because he commits impulsive acts in pretty much every season. Nearly killing Bonnie in 1x9… that was an impulsive act. Killing Mr. Tanner, impulsive. Force-feeding Elena his blood, impulsive. Turning Vicki, impulsive. Tell Elena he's gonna take the cure for vampirism in season 6, impulsive. That's why Elena forces him to reconsider. His love is so powerful that he does without thinking. His impulsivity is just as "excusable" as Stefan's ripper gene. Both are capable of controlling their urges, it's just a matter of having the right teacher. I don't excuse Damon, but we have a great deal in common, so there are certain things about him that I understand. Your bachelors on Pearl's stage...

Matt and his mother are about to have dinner when Caroline rings their doorbell. She and Liz inform them about Vicki. Because Mayor Lockwood is still at the Grill, he informs Tyler and Jeremy. There were meant to be 27 vampires in the tomb. Katherine's absence dropped it down to 26. At their boarding house, Stefan killed Bethanne. At Pearl's house… Alaric killed two, Damon killed three, and Stefan killed Frederick. That brings their count down to 19 tomb vampires.

Damon is still so full of rage because of Frederick that his fear of Pearl is gone. "Your merry little band of vampires spent the day torturing my brother." Just listen to his tone. "If I had a good side, not a way to get on it." Alaric knows the truth of this statement because thanks to Elena, he's seen Damon's good side. This is where he basically comes to understand that he should've went straight to Damon rather than trusting Stefan with his Isobel issue. All vampires are capable of good and bad. Sometimes their bad outweighs their good. Like Katherine, a character I truly can't stand. She has good moments, but not many.

Feel the difference. Damon pulls away, Stefan pushes away. Stefan's apology is half-assed. "And what I did, I'm sorry that… I'm sorry that you had to see it." I consider this gaslighting. She didn't just see it, she experienced it. As much as he wants to deny it, he physically assaulted her. "And it's my fault. I made you..." Typical for the victim to blame themselves rather than blame who's truly at fault.

Elena will excuse his violence until she no longer can, until that moment he nearly kills her in 3x5. Jeremy interrupts to inform Elena about Vicki, while having no idea that Elena already knew about Vicki. I love Liz in this scene because even though the founding families don't like Kelly, she's there as an understanding parent. Tyler sits with Jeremy, the two in Vicki's love triangle. Caroline tries to comfort Matt, but... some things take the right person, if that makes sense. Even though Matt is all-in with Caroline, he needs Elena to comfort him. They're best friends. From the sandbox, as Caroline said. They should've waited for Vicki. They didn't need her death for Damon's scene with Jeremy in 1x22, they just needed Anna's. I just feel like her death would've been more powerful for Damon and Matt had they waited. This bit with Damon and Alaric pulls a triple. What could've been in 1x15...

It's a parallel Damon has with Kelly. She slept with the manager's boyfriend, he slept with Alaric's wife.

Kelly: I was supposed to be interviewing for the bartender job, but I think the manager blew me off. Damon: Well, that's not very nice.

Kelly: Yeah. Last time I was in town, I slept with her boyfriend. Damon: That's not very nice either. Kelly: It happens. Damon: Yes it does.

"Uhh. Happens."

It also weaves Alaric's comment in 1x21.

This episode is when Alaric realizes he and Damon could've been friends. "Ah, this is a shame. We're kindred spirits, abandoned by the women we love. Unrequited love sucks."

Anna realizes that Jeremy wanted to turn for Vicki. She disappears as Jeremy apologizes. Damon goes home to find Stefan jacked up on human blood. He's not terrified for Stefan yet because he believes this is a binge rather than an addiction. Being a ripper doesn't mean being a blood junkie. There's a difference. Lily had no problem managing her intake of human blood while in the prison world. She'a been managing her blood intake since 1903. Even though she rips when she escapes her prison world, she's able to stop at one person. Stefan has to moderate like Lily, and he can't. Neither Damon or Lexi know this, they just know he's a ripper.

At any rate, as you can see, this is the animal enclosure. While interacting with the animals, I'm doing a bit of cleaning too.

I haven't figured out all the details yet, but I want to make it a performance that becomes a goal for anyone who sees it.

Kids like the ones I met at Yumenosaki Academy and ES... I want the idols that I used to ignore to like me.

But I don't know what exactly to do... Will you think about it with me?

Buck is such a family guy ugh it's soft. it's been super obvious ever since he met Christopher that he is someone who needs to be around kids and one day have his own (and that he adores Christopher in particular ofc). He and Eddie are so alike. This isn't the only way but it's definitely one that stands out to me, because of course Eddie just completely lights up around his kid.

Man, I rode out the worst of the pandemic in one of the most isolated cities in the world (by total coincidence, we had moved there the year before it hit) so we weren't hit too hard by it. But this season is really driving home how lucky I got.

Omg Taylor and Buck gossiping about Buck's love life is really funny. Maybe they'll hook up again but I would love if she just hung around as his bitchy ex who gets drunk with him and dunks on all his life choices

Chanting for the guy to jump? Classy.

"I've met the people you work with. Your life is nothing but meaningful relationships." Only Taylor could make that sound like an insult. I love her.

Oh Eddie. I know that conversation didn't go the way you hoped but the fact that your kid is able to say the words "I'm mad at you" and walk off to get some space speaks volumes about what an excellent parent you are. It's gonna be ok.

Oh, ouch. I know I was tough on Hen for being angry and trying to fight their foster kid leaving, but I also have a lot of empathy. This sucks, and I'm really sad for their son too.

A big part of the reason I think this show is aimed at people in a slightly older demographic is that every time they do an episode about kids and parenthood it just completely turns on the waterworks for me lol. and I don't think it would have affected me this way before I was a parent but now that I am, it's just really clear that the people making this show know what they're talking about.

This scene between Hen and Athena about their kids and the missing girl and May wanting to move out is a really lovely scene, I have missed Hen and Athena's interactions.

Also it passes both the Bechdel test and several related tests about race, and I appreciate that that isn't even particularly noteworthy for the show. The only reason I thought about it was because I was trying to figure out how to describe the scene and when I laid it out like "the one where Hen and Athena talk about May" it made me smile

Another thing I like about this show is that it's one of the only shows filmed during the pandemic where full scenes are conducted with masks being worn. Other shows I've seen during that time usually gestured to the use of masks but had the characters take them off as soon as they started talking.

The portal that pulls them from the Shadowfell feels... strange. For a moment Hector feels entirely disconnected from his body, drowning again in darkness. Then, as if rejected from the gullet of some enormous beast, they are all spat out onto the ground at the entrance to the Temple of Shar.

All except Shadowheart.

Some minutes pass, and Hector - despite being barely conscious himself - is almost on the point of charging back in, somehow, to try and find her, when she appears. Her arrival is even more violent, crashing onto the ground at their side, whimpering with pain.

She curls into herself, her whole body shuddering desperately. "Please, my lady... forgive me..." she whispers.

He kneels at her side, places a hand on her arm, but she jerks away from him, resisting his efforts to help her up. With more than a little struggle, she pushes herself to her knees, then her feet.

"I... I thought I was done for..." she whispers. Her voice is barely audible, every limb trembling. There is a haunted, lost look in her eyes that he has never seen there before. "I thought perhaps I might have been dead."

She tries to speak a little louder, fails; her voice cracks with the effort. "This... this is all like some sort of terrible dream. But it's real, isn't it? I stood before the Nightsong. I heard Lady Shar's words... and I failed her."

He says nothing, just listens in silence. Even to nod seems unbearably cruel.

"Worse than failed her," Shadowheart goes on weakly, squeezing her eyes shut. "I defied her. Just because of what that aasimar said..."

She shudders, hugs her arms around herself. "I tried to leave... but Shar blocked me. Punished me for failing her. I thought I knew the limit of pain that the incurable wound could inflict, but I had no idea... "

She trails off into silence, and her breath starts to come faster, hovering on the edge of panic. "It felt like I was suffering the agony of a thousand people, all at once..." she whispers. "My blood was boiling, my hair was on fire. I thought I'd claw my own face off with the pain... "

Karlach, her face tight with sympathy, reaches out as if to place a hand on her arm, but she recoils again, her shoulders hunching and head dropping. "But then... she released me. Banished me, more like. She said I was an outcast, that all of her children would know me and revile me."

Her eyes lift to Hector and the despair in her eyes is like a silent, heartrending wail. "I'm alone..."

Narrator: Shadowheart looks distraught - abandoned by her goddess and all former allies. And as for her divine magic...? Admitting who empowers her now may break her spirit for good.

What would it do to him, he wonders, if their roles were reversed? If he were torn from Selune's embrace and told that his power now came from Shar, regardless of his past? He knows full well it would likely destroy him, as the inverse is destroying Shadowheart now.

She is not alone, whatever she might say. He and the others are still with her - more so now than ever. But what is that when laid against the void where her faith used to be?

"If it's any consolation," he says softly, "I think you did the right thing."

She shakes her head. "You're lucky to have such confidence. Me... I think the full price of what I've done has yet to reveal itself. I'm a target to Lady Shar's followers now."

She turns away, moves to walk unsteadily past him down the dark path. "Nightsong promised she'd tell me something about myself. I need to speak with her as soon as I can. What she said to me back in the Shadowfell, about the wolves... that's no coincidence. She took flight to hunt down Ketheric Thorm. All I can do is help hasten his demise and hope that answers soon follow."

Hector turns to watch her walk away. [SELUNE] "Thank you," he says abruptly. "For saving a daughter of Selune."

It is still almost unfathomable to him... that they stood before one of the Moonmaiden's own children. That she spoke to him, touched his arm, blessed him with praise and with a gift. It is all too much to comprehend. But he is grateful beyond measure for what Shadowheart sacrificed, that Aylin might live.

"Don't thank me," Shadowheart answers without looking back at him. "I didn't do it for her. I'm not even sure I did it for me."

Robot Chicken #68: “But Not In That Way” | February 1, 2009 - 11:30PM | S04E09

Time for the Robot Chicken program that we all know and love. I will do my best to talk about this episode in a way that it deserves; dashed off and under the influence of marijuana. 

To be honest, the only sketches I hated in this were really short. The Peanuts “I got Iraq” joke really made me irrationally mad. Hulk Hogan voices a black guy at one point, which isn’t great. Not only is he a white dude, but he’s also a racist white dude! Why can’t people be pissed off at this? Terrible to think about: He has dropped far worse bombs.

Last time I covered Robot Chicken, I made the decision to go soft on it and try to focus on the positives. That’s for two reasons: the joke I hated most was the phrase “rape shoes”, and I was really struggling to figure out a way to complain about it without sounding woke. Most of the sketches I merely didn’t like and I wasn’t feeling very inspired trying to come up with ways to bury them, because they were bad for reasons I normally cite over and over again. In other words: I was being lazy. I literally just didn’t feel like coming up with words, and knew “focusing on the positive” would yield a shorter, easier write-up.

It is an unfortunate coincidence that, on the evening I decide to pledge myself to being more savage with the show, I managed to LAUGH TWICE at this episode, putting it in the running for maybe the strongest Robot Chicken episode of all time. The Inuyasha sketch was decent and had some funny lines that made me smile. Also, I legitimately perk up when Seth MacFarlane is on this show, as insane as that sounds. I must have Stockholm syndrome or something. But this was a funny idea for a sketch, and it was decently executed. The ending was lame, but usually the endings of Robot Chicken sketches are VERY BAD, so I welcome lame. 

A Punky Brewster sketch was almost good, but I really do dislike Robot Chicken’s penchant for overly jerky characters being overly jerky. I’m pleased anytime I'm asked to think about Soleil Moon Frye breasts. I simply don’t know why! 

The two actual laughs: the ALF cutaway where he calmly observes the birth of a litter of kittens and asks “is anyone here gonna freak out if I eat that afterbirth?” got me. For Robot Chicken, this is remarkably restrained. Another sketch would be about ALF trying to eat the kittens, then the mom cat fighting ALF in a zany kung-fu fight, and then when she returns to the kittens she finds they've all been smoked by Willie, mistaken for crack for some reason.

The lengthiest sketch of the show is Shawshank Redemption but set at Arkham Asylum. Lord help me, I liked the stupid detail that Batman is personally overseeing the Asylum like a prison guard. Also the poopoo humor actually caused me to laugh out loud, however briefly. There was a couple moments in this episode where the punchline was farty noises, and I hated them, because they just sounded like overused sound-effects to me.

Also, lucky for the show, one of my all-time favorite things to do when I played with action figures was to make them shit on each other. This tapped into some seriously primordial stuff in my id.

Oh my FUCKING god, went to the pharmacy to get my meds (buprenorphine) and the doctor FORGOT TO CALL IN MY SCRIPT!!! Do you have ANY IDEA how bad this would've fucked me over if I didn't keep an emergency stash?!?!?! Me: They once lost their luster after Eggman and Eggman Nega used them, right?

Me: So...are they powered by friendship somehow?

Blaze: shrugs I'm not really sure about that. I don't know what truly powers the Sol Emeralds. They do need me to maintain their luster, though. The Sol Emeralds do possess a lot of power, but they're also very sensitive stones. One wrong move, and they could lose their shine. In such a case, I would have to restore their shine through a special Sol Emerald ritual.

Me: I see. I guess that was a lucky coincidence, then.

Blaze: Yes, but they're still rather fickle to control... They're connected to my feelings, in a way. If I lose hope or give up, they'll go dark.

Me: Ah, I see. I bet that provides some good motivation for you to stay hopeful.

Blaze: nods I won't stand for anyone taking advantage of the power of these precious gems. The power they hold is only meant to help and support others. They're meant to be a source of good and hope in the world, not a source of evil.

Me: I'm with you there. By the way, do you have any idea where they came from? Or is that a secret?

Blaze: shrugs No idea. The Sol Emeralds are an ancient part of my world's history, but nobody exactly knows when or how they came into being. And nobody knows what their true potential might be what there truly are. They could be more than just the mystical gemstones they seem to be. No one's ever really been able to figure that out for certain. They're quite mysterious.

Me: Wow, intriguing. smiles

Me: Well, just one other thing I wanted to say -- I'm very glad you were able to overcome your shyness with the help of Sonic and his friends. I struggle with social interaction myself a lot.

Blaze: I see… Well, it's never easy with social anxiety, and you might still struggle with it, but remember to take your time. Idk if I'll stick with this, but I've been in hospital for over a week now and I can feel my brain turning to mush, so I'm thinking it might be good to post like a journal thingy here. I can just throw my thoughts to the void and if anyone feels like throwing any thoughts back at me, maybe I'll reminded what human interaction is lol

And who knows, maybe some bits and pieces of my experiences rn might be handy to someone who ends up seeing it. This is a weird time for me, maybe someone else around here's having, has had or will have some similar weird times and we'll have made a little connection even if we don't speak :)

I mentioned it briefly in a post on my art blog, but to flesh it out a bit, I've been generally run down and really quite unwell like all summer and now into autumn. Been back and forth to the doctor, told I have chest infections, possible asthma, etc. I get booked in for an xray and then something looks weird so a ct scan, still thinking it's pneumonia with some odd symptoms, then a couple days later I get a call from my doctor telling me i am going to the hospital asap, there's a bunch of fluid in my chest that should not be there and also they need to check for lymphoma. I've never been to hospital for more than an orthodontist appointment and while not as surprised as I could be expected to be by the thought of cancer due to having had a weird anxiety fixation thing on the idea for a while (fun coincidence), it was still a bit of an ordeal lol. This was 10 days ago and I have not been home since. I've been coping pretty well considering the wild lack of control I feel over literally anything rn. The steroids they've got me on rn while I wait for further treatment have me feeling better than I have in a long while, and mentally the worst I've been dealing with is some fairly mild dissociation. Just kind of taking things as they come for now, rolling with things as best I can especially while so many things are kind of a bit up in the air and subject to change.

But I mean drama aside, the current diagnosis for me is pretty good. The cancer as it appears right now is treatable and has a pretty great cure rate. It's a "primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma" according to the leaflet I've got. It's high grade, so fast acting and aggressive but that actually makes these easier to get rid of than low grade slower working ones. It's hanging out next to my heart so that's the reason I've had all these bullshit symptoms in my chest cuz it's just been fuckin shit up in there and irritating its roommates. They've got me booked in for a pet scan day after tomorrow cuz the scanner was having issues so they couldn't get me in sooner, then the plan is to start chemotherapy the next day. Which will be an experience. The treatment plan we've basically already decided is 6 21-day cycles of chemo where I'll be in hospital for about 5 days getting monitored and adjusted treatment, then going home for the rest and coming back to start the cycle again. It's not going to be the most fun and easy experience of my life but tbh I've done hard things before and I know I'm capable of doing this. Not that this kind of thing can ever really come at a "good" time, but I think that personally I'm pretty lucky this came along at the point in my life it did. I've been able to spend the last couple years basically building myself back up from feeling entirely lost, shattered and directionless after a pretty traumatic attempt at university durring covid lockdowns. I'm maybe lacking in some life experience people my age tend to have, but ultimately I have confidence, strength and self-awareness now that I do not take for granted. Basically I got the chance to reinforce my foundations in unkowing preparation for this whole thing. Honestly, I'm kind of just curious who I'll be on the other side of this experience - wherever that may be.

My main concern has been my siblings. I'm the oldest of 3 and we're all very close, spend a lot of time together and are at the core of eachothers' support systems. One of them's got college stress and deadlines, the other's out of school with anxiety issues rn, and my instinct is to be there as a support. And of course they would be supporting me too, it's not all give, they're amazing at being there for me too especially while I've been unwell (I love them so so much and I'm proud of everything they do can you tell lol). But while they have been visiting when they can, we don't get so much time together rn with me being in hospital and I feel like it's hard to get a gauge on how things really are with eachother at the moment which is rough with there being so much change going on rn. I know we'll figure things out, but I can't help worrying about them a bit, I feel like it's kind of my job lol

Oof can you tell it's getting late and my brain's going sleepy ramble mode? Idk if I'm even making much sense but hey

The ward I've been moved to for this is good. It's a cancer ward for teens and young adults with a common room area funded by the teenage cancer trust. There's guitars, a ps4, craft supplies and free snacks. It feels so weird that like that space is for me to use, like I'm kinda tresspassing on something for people who need it more than I do. But the ward's fairly quiet and not so busy at the moment, so when my siblings and briefly my friend came to visit me today, we basically had free reign of the space without having to disturb anyone. I feel more comfortable in there than I did, and I think it's a good space for my siblings to be when they come visit. I'm really greatful they get to use it with me - even if I feel kind of like others deserve the space more (ik im being silly), seeing them get good use and some fun out of it today was good and reassuring. It's reassuring to hear people talking about there being support systems for siblings too should they need them. Especially when it feels like I can't look out for them so much in the ways I normally would.

But yeah, I think that's about all that's in my brain for right now. I'll look back on this tomorrow and realise none of this actually made any sense lol

But yeah basically got thrown a bit of a curveball lately as life tends to do, but there's answers now where there wasn't before, and the path ahead's starting to make itself visible. It sucks, but I've been worse. I'm not just saying that for the sake of offsetting the fact that it sucks, I'm just taking the the little wins where i can cuz I know that's gotten me through plenty rough and sucky times before.

Woke up to magpies outside the window this morning. One came right up to the glass to say hi, but I couldn't snap a picture in time lol <3

My friend brought me a rainbow sensory slug companion, and I made a pipecleaner creature named Spigley while my siblings were here. They are friends and will be my chemo companions :)
