Dissociate, dissipate Is this how it feels to slip away? I don't know, I don't know Should I just go home? No, it's alright, I'll go all night I won't go home Yeah, it's alright I'll go all night
Yeah, you know I love to get high on my lows Fuck around and lose control Drink fast until my brain moves slow Now slow down Yeah, you know I love to get high on my lows Cause every time I talk I choke Run fast until my heart explodes Now slow down
I'm on the lawn, it's coming on Way too fast and way too strong Start to laugh, hit the grass Feel the cold dew as it's Running down my spine Lost all sense of time You'll see That I know I'm right where I'm supposed to be And it's alright, I'll go all night I won't go home Yeah, it's alright, I'll go all night
Yeah, you know I love to get high on my lows Fuck around and lose control Drink fast until my brain moves slow Now slow down

THANK YOU :D!! I LOVE IT FOR those interested, the picture actually goes for a fic! It's not posted up yet so here is the lil excerpt that this picture goes with :D _ _ _
Suddenly, he looked up.
“Holy shit. . .”
He had opted to take his shirt off a while ago. Made sleeping easier when nothing was tugging at his stitches. The bruising he vaguely see’s in the mirror is spectacular.
Lupin's belly and rib cage looked like the start of a Canadian sunrise. Mottled bruising in varying stages of healing makes its way up from right below his prominent ribcage to under his left breast and while he can barely see it, he notes how the light catches them and illuminates them as a ugly grayish purple blob in his restricted sight. From what he could see in his facial features, his face looked a little worse for wear as well. And there was a terrible aching throb throughout the left side of his ribcage, and his lungs made a strange series of expansions and contractions with each breath that pulled at stitching that lay scattered throughout him.
"You look like shit" he hears a voice suddenly say with a slight dry laugh. Jigen is staring at him, though he doubt's Lupin notices much. The thought does occur to Jigen however, as he watches as Lupin stares solemnly at himself in the mirror, that this indeed was probably the very first time Lupin ever got a good "look" at himself in the mirror since his stay at the hospital. A grim smile tugs at his lips. He doesn’t know how to feel about that.
Lupin ignored Jigen's comment, instead running a free, shaky hand over his face, counting by feel all the cuts and bruises that were left there with partially bandaged fingers that his eye could not see. There are five in total he could feel, each bearing with it its own severity of sting when he touches them; one above his right eye, two on his lip, and one on either cheek. He winches when fingers brush against his left eye, which while uncovered at the moment was still nearly swollen shut, only able to open half mast. A prominent reasoning for why his sight was still trashed, too swollen now even still for a new prosthetic.
drew some fan art for my friend @dukeswonderousmenagerie and their Lupin III AU, Lavender Jacket Series (LJS)
I got a new sketchbook and the first thing I draw is a beat up monky

Lavender Jacket Series Jacket Overview: Jigen Daisuke
Find Yata's Overview Here: Thank you @pixelateddork for the art.
Next on the list for the Jacket Overview series is a fan-favorite and one that I'm especially happy with.
Jigen Daisuke For his BASE PALETTE, Jigen sports his tradition getup, but it is more of the TWCFM set up of colors: his typical wardrobe as always sticks to the ashy-grayish black suit, light-blue dress shirt, white-tie and his traditional fedora which like the rest of his outfit ranges within the ash-grey tones see here (thank you screenshot recolors)
His SECOND OUTFIT
Like many shows we have seen regarding the pair, Jigens palette is often made to coincide or at least generally fit well with Lupin’s palette, even if he often does head toward the more traditional route with his colors- the blues, the blacks, the grays and so on and so forth. While Lupin took on the more softer Lavender colors in this series, Jigen however sports, not so much a different look, but one that I believe fits well with Lupin’s as well as the Lavender Jacket series as a whole
In LJS, Jigen’s tradition of typically wearing a darker set of colors compared to Lupin’s lighter shade still stands strong. However those traditional colors have since moved on from the typical colors he’s most famously known for and instead now he sports colors that one may not have typically seen on Jigen outside of Part 3.
The First of the new colors presented are a Green Suit and Pants. Traditionally Green has always been a color that symbolizes many things, though the meanings of green can vary by shade similar to blue or red. For example: Bright green often symbolizes rebirth and spring while Olive green represents tranquility, earthiness and elegance. In Jigens case, Dark green or various shades of it, can often represent things such as fertility, greed, money and drive. For some shades, it also carries connotations of wealth and success but can sometimes signify greed and envy.
In Jigen’s case, the color green is often a double-edged sword; while things like tranquility do not come easy for him until much much much later in the storyline, his drive to right his wrongs at times may also to many seem admirable at best and maybe suicidal at worst. Despite this, he still holds an elegance to him even during some of the worst times of his life which fits him strutting around in green very well. The Darkish Red of his hat and tie also symbolizes things as well. Wine Red is a deep Red that often comes in many shades and often symbolizes traditional things like sophistication, passion, and luxury, few things that Jigen can’t afford to lose yet enjoys all the same as well while he can.
Especially passion. Throughout LJS, Jigen often finds himself being thrust into Lupin's role in more ways than he often anticipates, outside of simply just Leadership. In addition to this, he often finds himself shocked, about how often he ends up trading one vice, his alcoholism, for something better. The Act of Sex The moment Fujiko and him hook up in LJS, Jigen is often led to believe it’s the sex in which his body craves, like some new hyper-drive in his borderline dead sex-drive. While this turns out to not fully be the case, (he realizes later on down the line that its not simply the sex but the touch his body craves, not just the outcome that comes with it because Jigen usually hides how touch starved he really is) the need for sex is often a driving force between the pair. It’s why he often goes to her for "companionship" when he’s drunk. Because, as shocking as it is for him, he had found something he finds fun, entertaining. In fact it revitalizes him, entices him, he finds that he enjoys it and it's strange because he never thought he would, especially with a woman like Fujiko, because it's also strange to him how quickly he fell into Lupin's role in the group
even down to his preference in partners.
Since red is the color of blood, it has historically been associated with sacrifice, danger, and courage. Modern surveys in Europe and the United States also often show that red is also the color most commonly associated with heat, activity, passion, sexuality, anger, love, and joy. All emotions Jigen knows well and is slowly getting to know.
And it's not just the colors that often hold symbolism. Since their creation, cufflinks and lapel-pins have been seen as a symbol of status for gentlemen with luxury gold and gemstone cufflinks seen as a symbol of wealth, power and reputation, while Lapel pins are frequently used as symbols of achievement and belonging. While not shown directly on the reference sheet, Jigen does happen to wear and own two
In addition to being the Lupin Family Flower, The lupine flower stands for imagination, admiration, and overall happiness. Whether given as a gift or grown in your garden, the lupin brings the energy of inner strength to recover from trauma.
For Jigen it often fits all too well. But while he is not versed in the language of flowers like his partner might just be, he knows deep down that the flower means something to him. Ever since he was younger, the Lupin family, often consisting of just Lupin’s Grandpa and Lupin himself but now extending to the mains and servant’s, had been more of a family to him than even his own. The stability, while crazed and dangerous, was something that he had come to love and enjoy.
Jigen pledging his loyalty to Arsène the First, thus essentially pledging his loyalty to the entire Lupin family, was something that he never thought he would ever do again since leaving the Mafia life behind him for good. But Issei had become almost a father figure to him, let alone someone who had earned his loyalty and his admiration. And following Jigens official pledge to the Lupin Family, he has always keep on him a little piece of Lupin and the new life he was given in the form of a Lupine Flower Pin. He never wore it, but after everything that had happened during the events of LJS, he figured now would be the best time.
The Pin always stays on his Lapel, close to his heart no matter what, where it will always stay.
Jigen’s third and “secret” palette is often used as a joke palette in a way, but is also just another I've grown to love.
Essentially, I had come across this palette in a Discord server I am in
And naturally I had fallen in love with it. It had part 4 vibes but gloomy and tired and somewhat sad which seemingly worked very well. Lupin's design in LJS IS his Part 4 design but tweaked. Of course since the palette felt right I decided to give it to Jigen as sort of a “party” outfit; one that he often uses when he goes out with Fujiko, or for special occasions!
But then a friend had pointed out that Zenigata got the jigen palette in the picture set, with the blue vest and orange undershirt and green tie, and I thought of course it was funny. . . Until I realized that this image also exists
Which fits because Jigzeni, or as we lovingly refer to the ship as Hattrick, is a ship found in LJS
It seems Zeni can’t stop stealing the gunman’s clothes How they fit him we will never know

The Plan
The Plan to fake Lupins death was ultimately all Zenigata's idea.
And he had been far too over zealous about it
Lupin’s condition was too touch and go even beforehand, to the point they worried that the stress of the move would be too much even if Lupin was under some form of sedation enough to keep him calm.
However when police jurisdiction comes into play there’s nothing they can do except just try to reason with them and convince them that this is a bad idea and reconsider their options.
But when ICPO refuses to relent, they have no choice but to let him go
The Docs Told Zeni what could happen
But Zeni was prideful
deep down cautious
but externally prideful that the plan would work
not could go wrong
everything was going to be fine
except there was a problem you see ICPO didn't actually refuse to relent with the medical board's orders
in fact
they had AGREED with the hospital that this plan was far too risky with too many potential hiccups and such. But Zeni was once again being bullheaded, by pushing for it, claiming he had it all under control
So not only was Zeni going against literal medical professionals, but the organization he works for as well. Which he'd done before with himself plenty of times, so it wasn't unheard of, and maybe there was some misplaced faith from all that, but Zeni had gotten over zealous about his plan to move Lupin, essentially pushed it to the point he nearly came close to killing him
But beforehand, before the plan actually came into motion, there was one thing they had to do.
keep it secret
No one knew about the plan absolutely no one, except a precious few.
It was because they needed to make it look convincing. Faking his death would only work if everyone believed he was dead.
even his friends
Jigen as a result never told Goemon or Fujiko, and that was WHY Jigen had a falling out with Fujiko
you see I always HCed that Lupin doesn't actually fake his death as often as we think he does. But when he does, the reason he doesn't tell the gang is to make it look convincing or more so to protect the gang.
Ever notice how when he does it it's normally when a BBEG is involved. It’s not super frequent but when it does happen it’s a Big Thing. Especially when it's a situation where he doesn’t tell the gang. Usually a situation where he feels backed into a corner and there’s no other way out.
which is why the gang expect it FROM Lupin
But Lupin ultimately had no hand in this It wasn’t his plan his big brainiac scheme
it was Jigens
they never expected Jigen to do something like this.
The whole plan had originally started because Jigen and Zeni started to plot the take-down of much of the city's more corrupt police force, knowing that with them in the way, progress would be tremendously limited in looking for the real culprit behind both attacks on Lupin and Yata and all subsequent issues that followed with that. Both hoped that by doing so, that it might entice certain individuals out of hiding when they find out their protection is slowly being whittled out.
However doing so also started to put Lupin and others at risk and rather than risk anything else happening to people they have a shit about, the pair came up with a plan.
Basically fake Lupin's death to throw the scent off and discreetly move him someplace else.
However in order to make it convincing
Jigen had the fucking bright idea not to tell Goemon and Fujiko in order to make it seem realistic. And because Lupin was so bad off and everything was touch and go already, the plan had worked, people bought it.
Only downside is, Goemon and Fujiko ended up spending literal weeks thinking Lupin was actually gone because the plan went so well and Jigen didn’t tell them until both Goe and Fuj found out themselves sometime later
Fujiko of course wasn’t happy
but by extension of Jigen not telling the gang,
Zeni never told Yata
Point of the matter is even in that short time where Yata and Lupin started talking, Yata and Lupin began to "bond" to the point even Jigen starts to thank Yata for keeping Lupin company when he's not around
and given the whole fact Jigen was never one for talking even when Yata still tried to make small talk, often to focused on the other to even bother to notice that Yata even existed and when he did talk, conversation was brief, Yata feels. . .for some odd reason a small sense of strange proudness; getting a thanks from a man as Dark and Mysterious as Jigen. Yata knew something was wrong when Lupin stopped talking. . .But he was never let in on the plan
But you see the issue with not telling Yata is Yata is a smart boy
very smart
If Zenigata didn't tell him something Yata would probably find out by snooping, and Zeni couldn't have that and risk him maybe letting it slip which would ruin everything. Yata of course would always know Zeni had a plan, and because of that, Zeni couldn't keep him totally in the dark.
So maybe he told him something, some other "secret" plan in order to make the lie look convincing and to maybe throw Yata off the scent
as a result Yata didn't know what the ultimate plan was
Yata knew he was planning something just not what
But Yata wasn't expecting Lupin to die
How the ultimate plan went no one knows for sure. Jigen had been the mastermind behind that actual plan, tricks like this were their specialty. Zeni had the ultimate hand in it, but in reality it was Jigen who planned everything down to minute detail because as good as Zenigata is, Jigen had learned from Lupin, never leave a detail untouched.
It was him who had the bright idea to coincide the time with Lupin's move on the day he was supposed to have surgery to fix the leg. Because in Jigen's eyes no one would have suspected if something went wrong; Lupin was so bad off as it was already that everything was touch and go. No one would have suspected if Lupin had either died on the table or afterward.
His plan to keep Fujiko and Goemon away from the hospital was so easy. Take a walk, find someplace to sit down somewhere, and just talk. .just talk. . .he doesn't mention the plan, he doesn't even talk about anything regarding Lupin unless he has to, and the ruse is easy, because the other two simply suspect that he's just nervous and not showing it.
To further sweeten the deal, Jigen also mentions that his sister is planning his nephew's baptism and he wants the two of them to join him.
And the pair are happy to agree.
Not knowing that Jigen is actually heartbroken that he's actively lying to them about this.
He's focused of course, he knows it needs to be done
But it's killing to have to do it, but he has too. So he buries it and the trio talk like they haven't talked before. Even Jigen and Goemon are enjoying each others company
all under the guise of a lie
heh. . .who would've thought. . .
Between all this Jigen is waiting for a phone call. . .a signal that the plan is in motion. He told the doc to "call him on his cell" when Lupin was out of surgery, with the gang standing around to make it look convincing. Maybe in the end it was the doctors who would ultimately decide how to go about Lupin's "death"
Afterall leave it to those who deal with bodies to know. . .
When he finally get the call, it's not hard to feign any shortage of emotion. In the beginning it was. . .relief maybe. . .to hear his phone ring some hours later and be told that Lupin's out and they can come and see him.
Jigen tells the gang and their excited, their quick to make it up there even when jigen's trying to stall for time, but their a "little early" anyways so the doc's tell them to
"wait in the waiting room"
and they'll call them in when they get Lupin all settled
But Jigen notices a glint, a certain look in the Doctor's eye. . .and he knows just by that look along that it's time. So he waits and he braces himself for the inevitable
As they wait, things seem to go quiet; no one calls them in. And in the end it's Goemon who's first to ask what's taking so long, and he sounds nervous while doing it and maybe it was fate's sick idea of a joke, but not even a millisecond after he says that, all hell finally breaks loose.
Jigen doesn't know how they did it. To be honest he's afraid to know. Because it's convincing, so convincing to the point that when they go to the room and find the docs working on Lupin, even with knowing the plan, it's so realistic it's like every bad dream Jigen's had over the last few months come true.
Which is why when Lupin "dies" and the Docs finally call it, it not that hard to feign shock or worriedness or whatever else he must be feeling
because after all. . .it's not like he hasn't thought about this already. . .
watching it come true just makes it easier
So much easier, that when Zenigata spots Jigen shortly after the Docs call it, it looks like he's actively shutting down, and it doesn't take long for Zeni to notice that he is actually doing that. But Zeni can't just go over, he has to leave him for just a few more moments until Jigen is alone or else the others will get suspicious or something.
But the moment he is alone, Zenigata is quick to remind him as he pulls him by the shoulders that it's not real
none of this is. But he has to remember the plan
and also that Zenigata has to go as well that it's time
and he promises Jigen that he will look out for Lupin, he gives him his word.
And maybe that snaps Jigen out of his farce, just enough to not completely have a total meltdown, enough to remind him what they're doing.
So Zeni leaves him, determined to see the rest of this through, while he leaves Jigen to mourn with the gang.
But as he goes to the ambulance bay, where Lupin, still sedated having actually been cut open on an operating table and wheeled out no more than 10 minutes ago is being loaded up, one of the nurses in on the plan whose been taking care of him (maybe it's the one jigen likes), basically tells Zenigata as he hops in the back that she hopes he knows what he’s doing because if he doesn’t, he’s surely going get lupin killed, perhaps even going as far as to actively start protesting against it all and perhaps telling him that he's going to kill Lupin attempting this and to please reconsider
but Zenigata is determined, and he’s on schedule and maybe being a little bullheaded to admit she has a point, but they're in to deep now, so he pays it no heed to her warnings as he closes the ambulance door
because as far as everyone else is concerned
Lupin's dead already.

Havent talked about Yata in a bit so Enjoy!
Thinking that Lupin helped pay for Yata's medical expenses.
When Jigen told Lupin about what happened to Zeni and Yata he of course got upset over it (maybe upset enough to cause a panic cause that was a something his heart really DIDN'T need)
Originally, Lupin was trying to convince Jigen to drop whatever happened to them alone, basically leave it alone and they would either deal with it later or not deal with it at all and just leave it.
When Lupin found out that Yata and Zeni got wrapped up in the middle of whatever this was, Lupin was, as you could imagine, upset.
Now the thing about Lupin is that he is rich, but he never uses it. He doesn't thieve for the money, he thieves for the thrill it provides. But the money he has helps in case they're in between jobs like they were when he was laid up, so Jigen and Goemon didn't have to worry about anything.
Well when he heard about what happened to Yata, he felt bad really he did, not only did they put Yata close to where HIS room was, but hearing Yata having trouble with his family brought back. . .uneasy memories for him
So imagine Yata's shock when someone anonymously donated a large swath of money to pay for his care
Yata never knew Zenigata probably knew, but could never be so sure but lupin liked it like that
But it's a little sadder, that beforehand that Lupin and Yata were forced into being "hospital mates"
like roommates but their stuck in the same room
The Hospital needed room and was forced to keep em in those 2 person rooms temporarily because they have those for folks that can’t afford single rooms/don't have insurance that covers it (like Yata)
Yata hated it; still a new and intrepid apprentice, he didn't know about the other side of Lupins personality, the calmer kinder side. So to say there was some animosity toward Lupin on Yata's part was a Bit of a understatement
He hated being stuck in a room with him
Especially when Lupin tried to talk to him
Yata would often hear tapping from time to time, Lupin trying to start a conversation. But Yata knew if he ignored him that Lupin would just doze right off again and he would be left alone to gather his thoughts and try to distract himself about the fact his career was probably just got stomped out.
Well some days pass and one day Yata decides to humor Lupin and actually talk to him
and surprise surprise, as it turns out he finds out that Lupin is a good conversationalist. He is good fun to talk too and he finds talking with him distracts him somewhat from his current situation and maybe that was the whole point, to find some funny peace in the turmoil of everything going on.
It goes well for a bit.
That was until Yata becomes the first to realize (next to Jigen of course) that Lupin is just slowly and steadily becoming quieter as the days go on. . . . . .

The Plan II: Yata's Reaction
Link to Original Part 1 Post Found Here:
When Goro Yatagarasu had first started working for Inspector Zenigata, he expected many things.
He knew working with the Inspector would be chaotic, certainly thrill-seeking at best, utmost terrifying at worst; Zenigata had certainly garnered a reputation for that in his long standing career. Yata also knew. . . that in many cases, the job would be stagnant; a dead end. One where the prospect of growth and such was far more likely to be null-in-void under the weight of working for such a man with a reputation like Inspector Zenigata. But that was something he had known, something that despite everything and every warning superiors and the like gave him, that he had come to accept and at times even actually enjoy, the work was thrilling and it was exciting, far better than anything he would have thought would come from a job such as this.
But as the time went on, it was apparent that there were things he had never come to expect.
And one such being, was how he would grow to secretly care for the gang like Zenigata had done.
He never understood the weird relationship that the Inspector had with the gang. In fact he didn’t even know he had one to the extent of what he did. What he had originally assumed was simply just a form of mutual-respect garnered over years of a wily cat-and-mouse routine was something entirely different. He just wished he didn’t have to learn that during the period of time he was most frightful over losing his career.
The period that started just after Yata got shot was one of the strangest periods in his life. He knew one day he would get hurt, it was a given, but he had never expected to get hurt to the point he would possibly have to start thinking about switching careers. Getting bunked with a infamous thief like Lupin III wasn’t also in the job description,
And as it turned out, neither was bonding with him either.
Yata hated it in the beginning; still a new and intrepid apprentice, he didn't know about the other side of Lupin's personality, the more calmer kinder side to him. He only knew the chaotic trouble maker, the devious mastermind the news made him out to be. So to say there was some animosity toward Lupin on Yata's part was a bit of a understatement
He fucking hated being stuck in a room with him
But. . .as time went on that proved not to be the case. Late night conversations with him had proven to Yata that Lupin was not the man he had previously assumed he was. What some media outlets made him out to bed, Zenigata would have cared so much for him. . . hell not even cared for the others as much if that had been true. And maybe he knew that, but perhaps he was also just - much like the inspector- too stubborn to figure it out for himself. In the beginning Yata may have been ashamed to admit it, but in the end that was what he was doing.
He was bonding with the thief.
In the week’s since Lupin had stopped talking, Yata had become lonely without someone to chat with. They hadn’t moved Lupin just yet, they had allowed him to stay in the room with Yata, perhaps because Yata was quiet. And he didn’t cause issues, and maybe it was also because they had jokingly designated Yata as Lupin’s personal Emotional Support/Emergency Alert-Companion, which was funny, Yata always assumed that position went to Jigen of all people, hah.
Heh. . . .
But they had bonded in the beginning, that much was true; so much so to the point even Jigen started to thank Yata for keeping Lupin company when he was not around and given the whole fact Jigen was never one for talking even when Yata still tried to make small talk, often to focused on the other to even bother to even notice that Yata even existed and when he did talk, conversation was brief- Yata felt. . for some odd reason, a small sense of a strange profound sense of pride; getting a thanks from a man as Dark and Mysterious as Jigen.
And maybe that was when he had finally realized how much things had changed. . .and perhaps even how much he enjoyed that change.
The weeks leading up to the plan were emotionally draining to say the least. Yata never thought he would admit it to himself, but he was nervous about the state Lupin was in. He was never in the room long enough anymore, with them constantly running test after test so late into the day that sometimes by the time they came back it would be late into the night.
On the day of the plan, it was ultimately Jigen who told Yata about Lupin’s leg and the surgery he needed. He figured he owed the young man an explanation, after all he had been kind to Lupin these last few weeks, and had looked out for him in time’s where Jigen could not.
Jigen had owed him that kindness, he figured at the very least.
It was late afternoon when they wheeled Lupin away, and when Yata wishes them Luck, he doesn’t notice how Jigens brow’s suddenly pinched together.
Normally Infectious Debridement Procedures may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the condition of both the patient and the wound and location of the wound site. Most of the time, the primary objective of debridement is to normally remove all the devitalized (rotten) tissue from the wound bed in order to promote wound healing. In many cases it’s simple depending on the level of infection. Surgical debridement often will have a higher risk for bleeding along with general complications after anesthesia.
In Lupin’s case, it was easy to fake him throwing a clot as being the thing that ultimately killed him.
A very large pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) can cause an instantaneous cardiac arrest should it flow into the right. . .well. . wrong vein, and while a clot can form after any type of procedure, you're often more likely to get one if you've had major surgery, particularly on your abdomen, or in Lupin’s case either the pelvis, hips, or legs or perhaps all three. Sometimes, the surgery itself can cause a blood clot. Long procedures where you're lying on the operating table for many hours allow your blood to settle and pool, which makes it easier to clot. Tissue, debris, fat, or collagen could get released into your blood system during an operation, making blood thicker around those particles. For Lupin, surgeries that involve scraping or cutting into a bone, such as a hip replacement, or in this case surgical debridement may release substances known as antigens. These antigens trigger your body's immune system and can lead to clots.
Whatever the case, it was a perfect recipe for disaster that all started and ended with Lupin having blood stream from his nose and mouth not even an hour in the recovery-wing. And despite best efforts, there was nothing no one could do.
And despite how much it destroyed him to admit, Jigen was happy one thing did not come true and was happy to admit one thing. That the mobsters who had caused this had been wrong, that their warning had never come true Lupin may have died choking. . .
but at least he had never died screaming
But Lupin had died no matter what, and the automatic response was the attempt of a quiet shutdown of the entire hospital to keep it away from the media as long as possible while the gang was left to mourn their loss. But then came the issue with telling Yata.
Because the plan had to move very fast following Lupin's "death", Zenigata had to leave near automatically- it was under the guise that he had to alert his superiors about this drastic development, but in actuality he was suppose to be the one who would go with the still alive Lupin on the drive OUT to where they were dropping him off, while JIGEN stayed behind to stay and "mourn" with the rest of the gang.
However as a consequence to this, Zenigata didn't get back until much later on, practically the next morning, and because ICPO was too busy shutting down the hospital, no one thought to tell Yata anything. Zeni wasn't there to tell Yata originally what was going on and as a result of it all, like any death of a "VIP" they locked down the hospital entirely and ICPO had to be sent on "high alert" mode due to Zeni's absence, basically leaving it to wait until Zeni came back whenever Yata asked what was going on.
So basically Yata had to wait, probably didn't sleep much as a result, until Zeni came back after so many hours only to then be told by his superior that the man he had basically been bonding with these last few weeks and essentially became friends with was by all accounts dead and that the reason he hadn’t been there to tell him is because Zeni was simply dealing with the aftermath of it all, trying to get things to "calm down" long enough before he could properly tell him
When he’s finally told, Yata doesn’t react like many would assume Yata completely emotionally shut down
He was still able to function and act like a person, but he does so as a total blank slate. Completely devoid of any emotion.
He was overwhelmed and his mind's response was to hit the off switch to protect him.
He feels like he should cry, but he doesn't. The tears just won't come.
He feels like he should scream, but he doesn't. His voice just won't work.
He feels like he should run, but he doesn't. His feet are rooted to the floor.
The only response he can give is an almost silent
"Oh."
He spends the rest of that day in a state of tension. Frayed. Anxious. He jumps at every sudden sound and doesn't look anybody in the eye. He moves at double speed and spends all his time not moving just sitting in his chair, staring out the window. And when he’s ultimately allowed to finally go home, he doesn't eat.
He just lies on his side in bed, staring at the wall.
Maybe he sheds a tear or two, but he doesn't cry.
He just feels
Empty.
And he still doesn’t cry.
All it comes to a head though, one night some weeks later. He was frustrated and guilty because he felt as though he should be crying but just isn't
he was lying on his bed feeling frustrated at himself
and then he heard a rhythmic tapping noise
It was probably mice in the ceiling,
But out of instinctual habit, he tries to sing to himself to cheer himself up, just like he had in the hospital
but his throat gets tighter and tighter, his voice more choked…
he never gets the last note out
he fucking looses it right there
mostly it's because of delayed grief mostly its because he hates that he never cried when it counted
He doesn't even know why he's crying, let alone over a criminal he had been trying to throw in jail these last few years, at least that's what he tries to tell himself to make himself feel better.
But he is crying over it, cause for some strange reason
it hurts
but he doesn't understand the why even now
why does it hurt so much
Maybe a quiet realization
He'd enjoyed the company. He'd enjoyed those quiet conversations. He'd enjoyed Lupin listening to him sing, having an audience even if it was a captive one, getting to know the man on some level, providing some kind of psychological sustenance to keep each other alive and sane.
He'd enjoyed spending time with the man.
Yata never had a lot of friends growing up, he was alone most of his life
So it was honestly safe to assume one thing Lupin was his friend.
And now he was gone
And he was never coming back
And somehow. . .it hurt so much more admitting it then he thought it would

_ _ _ _ Fics is finally done! Thank you once more for the lovely art for it @jiginese it came out wonderfully!

HC that Lupin has a little bit of a French accent, but that you never really hear it unless he’s tired or injured because not only has speaking English kinda “tamed it” but that he also masks the French French was technically Lupin's first language but because of moving to Japan for a short time and such, English and Japanese became close seconds and such, but French is still his “mother language” so to speak (no pun intended)
French was also the first language Jigen learnt in full
Little Jigen spent weeks practicing his French while Lupin was unconscious following the train accident because he wanted to surprise him by showing him how good he had gotten since Lupin had been trying to teach him beforehand despite Jigen acting so “disinterested” in the concept.
Lupin's Grandpa knew the real reason he’s trying so hard to master French was because it kept his mind off of Lupin. And the goal of ultimately showing Lupin when he woke up, took Jigens mind off the possibility of Lupin not doing that.
But Jigen was also stubborn and tried to learn French solo
It didn’t works Issei taught him the rest xD

Jigens 3 pledges to the Lupin Family: Pledge 2
Find PT1 here
The Second Pledge came years later. . .on the day Issei gave Jigen his blessing to marry Lupin.
Deep down, Issei knew there was no point in actually having to give Jigen his explicit permission for them to marry. By this point in time, Jigen had long and well cemented himself into the Lupin family, to the point that Jigen was actually set to inherit everything that Issei had previously left to his son Nisei, which had then originally after his son’s death was set to go to his Grandson. The Will instead was now set to be divided between both Jigen and Lupin. But the one thing he had yet to give Jigen was his blessing, because currently as it stood, there was actually no need to do so; they never needed his blessing.
He had also already discussed it with Lupin, and Lupin had long brushed off the idea of marriage, claiming surprisingly that what the pair had was good enough, and that Jigen was not the “Hitching Type”, and Jigen himself was a traditionalist in some aspects who wouldn’t have married Lupin unless he had the old man's expressed and explicit permission, and Issei understood that and respected it. And maybe he would have given it sooner, but with the relationship his Grandson and Jigen had, perhaps he thought there was no need.
After all, what the pair had was certainly a lot stronger then marriage had ever seemed to be. But Issei also knew that he didn't have much time left in this world, and he wanted to do it before he passed on, at least as a way to give himself some peace of mind.
On the day that it had happened, Jigen and Issei were in the living room, and the scene had been similar to when Jigen had first pledged his loyalty to him and the entire Lupin clan all that time ago, which to them seems like only yesterday. Issei has just given Jigen his blessing and Jigen was still in the process of trying to compute the information, unable to fully comprehend what Issei had exactly just told him.
Marriage, as much as the idea was nice, (not that he would admit it out-rightly) had been the farthest thing from his mind as of late.
but for the old man to give him his blessing. . .now. During a time when he seemed so worn down. . .
Jigen was still on his knees in front of Issei, and he hadn’t even realized he had begun crying, because he knew the only reason why Issei would give him his blessing. He knew what it meant. Why now of all time would be the time the old man would ultimately decide to give it to him. And he doesn’t accept it, no more than Lupin will when the time finally comes. Issei knows that when he dies, Lupin will probably lose it, he’s the only blood relative Lupin has left, and Lupin absolutely adores the ground the old man walks on.
But he is not the only one.
Jigen knows that with the old man gone, someone needs to look after Lupin, and Jigen already does that and Issei trusts Jigen more than anything in the world and knows he’ll look after his grandson. But Lupin isn’t the only one who will emotionally wither when the old man finally passes. Issei had become almost a father figure to Jigen, and the idea of Issei leaving hurts him, hurts a part of him he never thought he would ever feel, as if he himself was losing a parent, let alone someone who had earned his loyalty and his admiration many times over and would continue to have it even long after.
But even the thought of it hurts him to think about, and he wants to apologize for the tears that stain the old man’s knees, but all of a sudden, Issei instead cups his face, a move that Jigen allows. And Issei’s hands are warm against his skin, and they feel like the hands one would associate with an aged grandparent; comforting, worn over the years but still holding some grace and elegance from years long since past. And that’s when Isei says as he waits for Jigen to look him in the eye
“Take care of my Grandson for me. . .won’t you”
And it’s there in that room, that Jigen vows to always do so.
He would have done it already, was already doing it already.
But a vocal declaration seemed all the more appropriate.

Jigens 3 pledges to the Lupin Family: Pledge 1
Find Part 2 here Find Part 3 here
Shortly after Jigen and Issei reunited, Jigen had decided to pledge loyalty to Issei and as such the entire Lupin line.
He doesn’t know why he did it even after so many years since then. Perhaps it was because it's all he's ever known. Perhaps it was because the family had already treated him more like family then his own ever had. Plus he had always told himself, well perhaps maybe it was more akin to a promise. . that when he had ultimately left the Mafia for good, that he would never again kiss the hand of any man who dared to claim himself “Boss” over him. But it was strange in a way, the Lupin Family had been one of the very few families to ever gain his true loyalty, and certainly gain it without the use of force. And maybe perhaps in a way it was his way of asking the old man for forgiveness, for abandoning him all those years ago. That maybe in that moment, both of them needed each other more than what Jigen had originally thought. Jigen truly realized now that even though it would be a hard thing to do, that he should’ve stayed at the mansion with Issei.
Lord knowing that his life would have been so much easier Then whatever hell he subjected himself to the moment that he left
But the old man understood, Lupin’s apparent death during that time was hard on both of them, and he had long since forgiven Jigen for leaving. After all, he had done it too by packing up and leaving Japan for France once again.
But even so, the act of the old man forgiving Jigen wasn’t enough. Not by Jigen’s standards anyway. So one night, a few months after Jigen had been reunited with him, Jigen had managed to catch Issei in his study. The old man had been wrapped up for the night when Jigen caught him, and though Jigen was silent, Issei knew something was up. But before he could say anything.
Issei of course knew what was happening, especially when Jigen took off his hat and laid it pressed against his chest. He had been around the block around the world enough time’s to know the intricate rituals that took place against pledges of loyalty and servitude. But much like his Grandson, Issei, never liked it, he didn’t want Jigen on his knees pledging his loyalty, it reminded him too much of the life he and his grandson essentially rescued Jigen from. But yet, there he was, Jigen still on his knees, still kneeling in front of Issei looking up at him like he's almost a god, a beloved saint Jigen would have willingly sacrificed himself for.
And Issei knows deep down that Jigen was stubborn, that even if he tried to talk Jigen out of this, Jigen would refuse.
So instead, between the silence between them and the roaring fire beside them bathing them both in reddish gold along with the dark blue of the night coming from the window, Issei places a hand on top of Jigen’s head.
almost like he’s knighting him
And then Issei says something, hand still on top of Jigen’s head, words spoken with such a tender whisper it’s almost silent
“Welcome to the Family”
He gave Jigen the pin shortly after. . .beforehand Jigen never wore it. But he always kept it close to him. And following Jigens official pledge to the Lupin Family, he has always kept on him a little piece of Lupin and the new life he was given in the form of a custom Lupine Flower Pin.
He never wore it in the beginning, but he always kept it close. But following the events of LJS, he figured now would be the best time.
And as such the Pin always stays on his Lapel,
close to his heart no matter what, where it would always stay.

LJS Jigen and Lupin except its the arc/timeline where Lupin sadly dies but it's based around The Epic of Gilgamesh cause I read some excerpts of it and. . .
ow. . . Idea that in one variation of this tragic timeline where Lupin passes away and Jigen tries to move on after his death there's this one section of the Gilgamesh poem that hurts but it fits
Someone: Your friend is gone. Forget him. No one remembers him. He is dead. Jigen emaciated and depressed following Lupin's death:
