can't find it on penny's channel but TOTALLY has to be I.D!!! Penny Parker is a really good artist and it was really exciting to find out she made music since I knew her from a lot of other stuff too! you probably know her too, she's one of the voice actors in Real Time Fandub, which is obv kind of famous here lmao

i totally recommend her stuff, she's got a great sense of humor and makes incredible content; she's on Youtube as Snapcube and on tumblr at snapscube! (no i'm not tagging her it'd be humiliating for her to see me nerding out over this lmao)

she's one of the first trans people i discovered in content creation and it definitely put me on the right path towards accepting my community. i was going down the t*rf pipeline as a kid and seeing her made me think about the things i was being told more critically, because she's someone I had (and always will) admire for her skills and her good-humored nature. I think if I hadn't been snapped out of it I would have been a much more horrible person and I'm genuinely so thankful that i rediscovered her content at that time.

Fic writers, especially if you write popular pairings like Astarion/Tav, BloodWeave, etc.

This might be common knowledge, but I didn't realize, so I'm sure there are others who don't know.

When posting on AO3, only tag the main pairing(s) in your fic. If your main pairing is Astarion or Gale x f!Tav, but there's Lae'zel/Shadowheart in the background, only tag it M/F and not F/F. There's a space in additional tags that you can put "minor Lae'zel/Shadowheart."

The Astarion/Tav, Gale/Tav, BloodWeave, Halstarion fics absolutely dominate the tags. AO3 is overflowing with them. It can be really frustrating for someone looking for literally any other pairings, but especially sapphic pairings, since they get completely drowned out. (Source: folks in my sapphic BG3 discord server were understandably voicing their frustration with this issue.)

I personally have also stopped using generic BG3 tags here on Tumblr to post my Astarion stuff. I love him, y'all know this, but for folks who aren't obsessed the way we are, it's a lot, dude. Give the tags room to breathe and maybe let some other pairings float to the top.

No one is sending me bg3 tk headcanons so i will speak a few of my own. please send me bg3 asks lol. these little gremlin people in my computer are all i can think about

Wyll is definitely more of a ler than a lee in my mind, BUT i see that man in a crop top every single night, you cannot tell me he is not also crazy ticklish. And he definitely doesn't mind it -- he just doesn't want it too much. He much prefers making his romantic interest smile and blush and laugh, and waxing poetic in that wonderfully romantic way of his to make them blush even more. I ask what we are and he compares me to the sun at different times of day in a way that makes me swoon?? Imagine how he'd describe your tav's smile and laughter and flushed cheeks. My god I am so in love with this fictional man.

I have not gotten to a point in the game yet where my bestie Karlach is all fixed up (i only just started Act 2 about 10 hours of gameplay ago -- i expect to be here for another 30-40 hours at least before we finally reach Act 3 lol), I can only assume it happens for her, and i think that when she is fixed up she would go WILD with the tickle fights. She would find it so, so much fun. Gale insists he is not ticklish. He tries to distract you with fancy words and long sentences until you forget what you were talking about in the first place, because all of a sudden you're like. Talking about the history of Waterdeep or smth. Anyways, he does this because he is wicked ticklish. And I don't think he necessarily minds being tickled, but I definitely think he's the kind of guy to wanna keep up appearances for as long as he can lol. Gale lovers please correct me if I am wrong, but I always get distracted by his long-winded explanations and fanciful way of speaking (is this how people feel when they talk to me??? i am also extremely long-winded -- as you can see from this post -- and people think i speak funny and in an abnormal manner also lol). That long-windedness comes in handy with teasing though, I'm sure.

Shadowheart is another one I can't get a read on. I have had really good approval with her from the beginning, we are somehow besties, and yet i know so little about her. She is very hard to read. I have no idea what her thoughts and opinions are here lol. I think she would regard me with great disdain if I tried to tickle her

Astarion,,,,, i don't think he'd vibe with most people tickling him, OR tickling most people. Purely from existing in fandom, despite not romancing him (yet -- he is next on my list. I can fix him), i know a lot of spoilers for his general arc in a romance. I don't think he would let anyone but his lover touch him like that (or touch anyone but his lover like that), and only after a lot of healing. It's a very vulnerable situation to put oneself in!!! I feel like for the first long while he'd be far more interesting in ler-ing, he would have to be pretty comfortable and secure to feel comfortable in a lee situation.

Had my orientation for my new job yesterday and I'm still so excited!! I spent a year studying there 11 years ago (👵) so it's fun to go back, but it's definitely also gonna be a little weird first. Both of the two teachers who taught me there will be absent this semester (unless the other one returns from her maternity leave after Christmas, but that's not set in stone yet), although I'm meeting the other for another orientation tomorrow, which I'm excited about because she's probably my favourite teacher ever and she's just so great and said such nice things about my writing skills 😭 so it's a shame I won't get to work with her nor the other English teacher (the one on maternity leave), so it's just me and the Swedish teacher (who will also be my supervisor), and my memories of her are...not quite as pleasant 🥲

lol obviously I'm not bitter about that anymore and I also sort of understand why she thought I had not written it myself (somehow talking Swedish in Swedish class is not the same as writing an essay in Swedish in the safety of your home), and she did apologize afterwards, assumably having brought this up with the English teachers and being told there's no way I would've done that, and yesterday she was suuuuuuuuper nice and helpful , so I'm sure we'll get along just fine 😌

Today I was on godmother duty with my niece (10½ months) and y'all should be SO proud of me from protecting her from the evil, baby-eating spider that was climbing on her carriage 😪 It was a dramatic and somewhat traumatic encounter with life-threatening wildlife, especially when the spider wouldn't hop off the carriage when I swept it with a twig the first time, but together we made through it (the niece was sleeping the entire time)

This puts it pretty damn well, actually. Riordan has some extremely questionable views on certain things, and while I understand "taking creative liberties" with some things, it can get to a point where it honestly comes across as disrespectful.

He is essentially retelling the myths, in a way, and although it's a fun concept and the series itself can be really entertaining (especially for those who grew up with it, I imagine), he represents Greco-Roman deities without any care to those who have worshipped or currently worship them. He's taking almost all of his information from myths alone, it seems, and completely disregarding the context behind those myths and the way the ancients worshipped and perceived the divine. He barely seems to care - if at all - about how they were depicted in history. It would've been nice if he hadn't simplified these very multifaceted deities that came from a very rich, ancient culture.

Reading the PJO books, I feel like it isn't obvious whatsoever that Apollo was worshipped as a very knowledgeable, wise god who could literally see into the future and was associated heavily with education. At least from what I can tell (and take this with a grain of salt as I have never officially read the books), you don't get to see the more serious, mystical, mysterious side of him; he's just kinda silly and dumb because blond jock. And it's frustrating. As a close worshipper of Apollo, that is frustrating.

What is also strange to me is that the gods aren't even in the country they hail from??? That feels very strange and puts me off a bit. What's so wrong and dangerous about the Mediterranean, huh? As someone whose ancestors are from there, I find it almost offensive that he refuses to even give a decent explanation as to why the gods don't live in the Mediterranean. It's dangerous? Well, uh, so is the USA, from all the crazy shenanigans the main trio get into. It feels, to me, like he was just too lazy to actually research what the Mediterranean is like and put the effort of including that general region in his stories (aside from the major battle shit that happens in one of the books, but even then, it's not like the characters live or are from there).

Riordan does do things right sometimes, and there can be some really awesome representation in his books, such as all the main characters having dyslexia, but the thing about his series is that it doesn't do enough right. It's great that there is some positive representation for other things within the series, but, y'all, he does not care for or respect ancient Greek history or culture. He doesn't even respect modern-day worshippers, whom I know he's actively talked shit about publicly in the past (not sure what year this was, so keep that in mind). At the end of the day, he is just a man writing a story, but honestly, he could've done it differently or created his own pantheon of gods instead of drawing from a pre-existing one, especially if he's not even gonna respect the culture they stem from or accurately depict the gods in a way that's at least similar to how they were actually viewed.

If you are able to worship the Greek and/or Roman gods and enjoy PJO, good for you. You are more than welcome to indulge in the series and adore its characters. For me, personally, I don't know that I will ever be able to look past the weird way he depicts the myths or the disrespectful way he depicts the gods, but I'm glad that some of you are able to enjoy something that I cannot. Please, by all means, continue to enjoy the series. Continue to have fun with it. At the end of the day, it's just a fun book series meant for children/teens, and I understand that. Enjoy it, if you want to.

Is Rick Riordan’s representation of Greek and Roman disrespectful? What’s wrong with it? Where could one learn more?

Oh well, in short yes. He could've 100% done better. There’s a lot wrong with it but I’d need to literally reread all the books to point out all the slandering representation of respected Deities in his books. I don’t want to do that.

I have to point out that I do know it’s fiction but fiction can be done better. There's fiction that's done worse (LO) and one that's done better (AC Odyssey). I also have to say that I’m a worshiper so I’m kinda biased.

Also, before I go on - you can't exactly learn more from some singular source; if you familiarize yourself with Greco-Roman religion and myth (esp. reception of both in Antiquity), you'll start noticing that the books ain't good.

For SOME examples though.

I can mention Ares who is a constantly violent warhead in his view; like his role as a character based off a God in the books is to create dangerous obstacles for the main trio + he's actively aggressive and violent. Apollo who’s silly and dummy and overall an arrogant asshole until he isn’t (but is still full of himself and for some reason obsessed with haiku and not with any Greek or Roman poetry genre - which are plenty!). Hades who is a horrible absent father and just generally a figure close to being an antagonist who barely has any redeeming qualities. Artemis who is not welcoming of teenage boys (not even men though even that would be ahistorical). Aphrodite whose entire cabin is treated like either useless or bitchy individuals - not to mention the "girly girl" vibe plastered all over this multifaceted Deity. I am not even talking about the obvious "romantic love is the only love" thing going on with her. Persephone who’s just straight up mean all the time and exists in the narrative (when she becomes necessary) as someone who's rude to her husband's child + snaps over the smallest offense.

I could additionally mention that I don't think Riordan can write women well. Even the least sexist portrayal of a lady Goddess in his books - Athena - is flipped into a cold calculating girlboss.

I know that books are supposed to be POV of a teenager(s) but this POV is creating a perspective that says one thing: Gods are petty, distant beings that only care to create us trouble. Which is far from Ancient Greco-Roman perspective on Deities to say the least.

Compiled with Riordan’s weird views on Greek religion (I have to point out he said weird stuff back in 2006-7 so I won’t hold him to it - but it definitely affected the basis of his books) and the fact that he quite literally canonically claims that Gods native to Greece and Italy moved away from the "dangerous Mediterranean" just makes me go eh. They don't need to be stuck there, Hellenic and Roman religion spread far and wide - but there's an idea of cultural respect, too.

Riordan doesn't care about portraying Greco-Roman Gods. Close to nothing (except for maybe factual descriptions of rituals - mostly stuff Nico does) in these books adheres to the standard, traditional views of the Ancient Greek and Roman states. Hell, even his Gorgone, aka one of the first mythical beings we encounter together with Percy on the pages is not the original myth but rather Ovid's version.

And I say it as someone who still appreciates some characters within them - and how many kids got curious about actual myths and religion after. Still, Riordan needs to be held accountable because he's gained audience and he needs to realize he has gained a voice in representing Greek and Roman myths - and he needs to treat them respectfully.

I am not that interested in "bringing him down" - but I do hope that if you like Greco-Roman myths, you'll learn more through academic research.

Remember when I said I'd have the next fic up soon...?

I um, overestimated myself.

I'm having some health problems and it's kind of worrying me. I'm not gonna get too much into it but to put it simply; I have some chronic conditions. 🙃

I've also done nothing but sleep the past few days, I haven't even been drinking or eating very much.

I'm hoping it's just side effects from the second dose, bc apparently it's common to not feel well after taking it.

But at this point I feel like I should be getting better, and I actually feel worse today. 😩

I dunno. If I don't start feeling better soon I'll make an appt with the doctor.

As for when any fics are coming out? Honestly, I have no idea. I really wish I could've had it out by now and I'm annoyed at myself that I don't, but I just don't have any creativity left in me right now because all my brain wants to do is sleep.

So unfortunately, It's looking like my hiatus is going to be even longer... 😓

I'm not sure when I'll be back to posting my content, I'm not gonna wager any guesses bc I've been wrong every single time I've guessed and it makes me feel even worse when I don't hit my deadlines

Random Ramble: Anti-Uchiha Crowd and their "DON'T INTERACT!!! REEEE!"

Y'all must really not like criticism or y'know, a real conversation. It's baffling how these folks will ACTIVELY avoid critique but then turn around and call us (pro-uchiha or whatever) crowd scared cause we didn't interact but... your blog says "Don't Interact". So... Which is it? Do we interact then you block us cause y'all can't even make a good argument for hating the Uchiha or why Tobirama isn't a bad guy (he is but we'll circle back on him another day...) Or even and I love this one: "How the Uchiha are all evil and the coup was dumb and Tobirama gave them good jobs! Uwu! DON'T CROSS TAG!" Psh! Guys... You need to understand that if we have different OPINIONS it's cool to have debates or even conversations but don't be a baby and block me or anyone else before they can comment back. I know we understand to take everything on the internet with a grain, but I want to let y'all know that I do not believe this anon to be true. Doing some real digging, I'm quite sure this TMI Fact anon going around to other blogs is just starting drama. If we ever find out what they've said is true I'll happily go back on this, but what I've found does not add up and the blog it was coming from since deactivated after I questioned them. We're all having a semi-tortured good time and I'm not down for weird, dramatic derailment. ✌️

You're partially right on the separation. You don't have to be separated for a year to get a divorce BUT if you are separated for a year and then file for divorce, the other party cannot contest it. Lisa made it clear that if he straight up filed, she would contest it, presumably for prenup reasons. So Alex is voluntarily separating for one year because 1. that doesn't require any compliance on her part and 2. it will take away her grounds to contest when he files at the end of the year.

Hard to not 🧐🧐 all this as fact anon but I’m very here for understanding the legal side. I thought the voluntary separation year was so they could claim no fault but this also makes sense if true. I have a hard time believing Alex straight up decided to end it, and if the turning point was kids ala the atldiscourse anon, I’d expect Lisa to have to put her foot down since he’s wasting her time. But I’m intruigued and listening!
