Sylus:

It’s not common for Sylus to leave N109 to venture into other cities. It’s even rarer for him to be in Linkon in broad daylight. 

But Sylus has noticed a…shift in Your behavior recently. Sylus is too mature to admit that curiosity is eating him up inside but he will confess that Your lack of appearance at his manor has piqued his interest. 

At first, Sylus brushes it off as You being busy with work. Wanderers have been sprouting about it recently so he imagines the hunters have been off to battle frequently. With the increase in numbers of those filthy creatures, they’re probably grabbing any hunter they can find.

Yet when the dangers have dispersed, You still barely show up at his place. Just this morning Sylus has scoffed at himself for pacing around his study, as if he’s some pup eagerly waiting for his master’s return. 

Bothered at himself, Sylus sends out Mephisto to track your location.

The robotic bird informs him that You’re at the Deepspace Hunter Association’s main building, working on some documents.

This is how we find Sylus expertly bypassing all the security cameras and alarms installed in the building. He hears Mephisto through the earpiece that You’re currently at the outdoor training grounds with your friends.

Sylus is on the roof overlooking the training grounds without breaking a sweat. 

He sees a group of cadets gathered around a matted area. There are rows of benches surrounding the makeshift ring where two boxers are battling it out.

Sylus snaps his fingers and a pair of binoculars emerge through a smoke of crimson red. It doesn’t take him too long to spot You. 

You’re sitting in the middle, friends surrounding You left and right. A white eyebrow raises in curiosity as You and Your friends say something and then burst into a fit of giggles. 

Sylus sees one of Your friends pointing towards the ring, whispering something to You before You playfully shove her. 

Following where Your friend is pointing, Sylus’ gaze lands on the two men fighting on the ring. Specifically, a black haired man with very slanted eyes. The man fights seriously, as if he is facing an enemy. He knocks out his opponent in two minutes which earns him an eruption of cheers from the group of girls. Sylus doesn’t miss how loudly you clap and cheer for him.

Sylus’ insides curled in protest at the repulsive sight. 

You’ve been away this whole time because of some…some, pretty boy?

Sylus has never thought of You as someone so superficial. Or as someone who’s looking to date. Because even when Sylus drags you to all those parties You hate, where men drool all over You, some bold enough to flirt, You never paid them attention. 

But You’re acting like a shy school girl over this insignificant bug? Ridiculous. 

Movement below catches Sylus attention again. It takes every ounce of self control for Sylus to not break his binoculars.

The little bug runs up to You when he notices You holding a cold bottle of water and clean towels for him. The boy flashes You what he thinks is a charming smile (Sylus thinks he looks like a creep) and throws a wink Your way before he’s back on the ring.

Snapping the binoculars away, Sylus turns away from the revolting scene.

Should You grace Sylus with Your presence, he’ll show just how pretty and strong a man can be.

Zayne:

Zayne absolutely despises going to the coffee shop across the street from Deepspace Hunter Association’s main building. He yearns to take You to a different coffee shop but Your lunch break is only an hour and any other decent coffee shop is at least thirty minutes away from Your workplace. 

Zayne has suggested that he brings You lunch to work, tempting You by promising that he’ll cook all of Your favorite meals but You refused. 

You’ve explained to him that being stuck at work all day long is driving You crazy and You’re not going to sacrifice Your freedom and sanity no matter what. 

So Zayne has to sit in this humble sized coffee shop with hanging flowers decorating the walls and soft jazz music playing in the background. 

To be honest, the establishment isn’t so bad. The prices are reasonable. The food they serve is very delicious and Zayne will admit that their coffee is the best in the city. So, really, Zayne doesn’t have any reason to complain about this place.

Except for the fact that one of their baristas is an attractive young man that You’ve been eyeing ever since they had hired him.

Zayne has to watch You with a hollow heart as You bat Your eyes prettily at the man with slanted eyes as he compliments Your dress. The dress that Zayne has seen You purchased on Your phone just like this. 

A compliment or two from men is fine, Zayne doesn’t mind it much. You are a beautiful woman after all so he doesn’t blame them. But does the barista have to draw hearts, flowers and cute emojis in all of Your coffee orders?

At least Zayne doesn’t have to hear You gushing about him like You do with Tara. He fears he might do something illegal if he does. 

Caleb:

There really should be a support group for men who are not only bother-zoned but have to spend their only day off of the week watching their crush flirt with another man.

Caleb is sitting on his beach towel with his arms crossed as he shoots lasers at the lifeguard talking to You. He holds back screams of frustration as You shyly laugh at something the other man said and playfully smack his well defined pectorals. 

What’s worse is that You’re wearing a frilly pink bikini that Caleb loves so much. It’s not fair that the lifeguard, some loser who’s most likely a closeted creep and perv, gets to freely ogle at Your smoking hot body while Caleb can’t.

Internally, Caleb screams, a cacophony of frustration and envy echoing in the hollows of his mind.  Every laugh from Your lips feels like a dagger to his heart. Each flirtatious glance You exchanged with the lifeguard made his blood boil. 

The final straw is when You call him gege. Yes, gege can be used for anyone but You know that this honorific is Caleb’s weakness. You’re also aware of how upset he gets when You use it on other men, even You have called out his illogical mindset. 

Unable to stomach the sight before him, Caleb is on his feet. He’s trudging to the lifeguard station where you’re both at. 

He’ll snatch You away from that snake and drag You back home if it means it will put an end to Caleb’s torture. 

You being angry is a price he’s willing to pay because, by the end of the night, he’ll make sure You’re his.

Raf isn't usually my favorite--in large part because we'd be the biggest disaster couple on the planet--but I feel like in this case, he'd be great

seriously, the moment the doctor stops listening, thr doctor gets the full force of Rafayel's aloof, arrogant demeanor

Raf is not the kind of person who hesitates to be a Karen if he thinks it's appropriate. And messing with his person definitely counts

Raf: Excuse me. I'm taking my person and we're leaving

Then you go get something to eat while he makes sure that you're ok because it's pretty disheartening to be not listened to by medical "professionals"

Xavier

he isn't with you at the doctor (probably at home sleeping or fighting wanderers) but he sees you crying when you get home

obviously he's not particularly happy to see you crying

his first priority is comforting you, maybe cuddling or inviting you to nap

then he insists you change doctors and the two of you do research to find a doctor who will listen

Zayne

As if this would ever happen

I can't see Zayne letting this ever be a problem to start with

He knows all of the best doctors in different fields

And even if the person you saw wasn't the best, just knowing that you're THE Doctor Zayne's S/o, I don't think they would dare try to give sub par care

I mean if they did, it might end their careers. Zayne would not hesitate to warn others away from that provider and Zayne's words hold a lot of weight

Sylus

Uh, you didn't tell Sylus what happened when it first happened

I mean, Sylus doesn't really hesitate to kill people and fucking with his kitten would piss him off.

Nobody messes with his kitten. They just don't

Of course, he found out about it. Mephisto was probably skulking somewhere in your vicinity while you were upset about it. And even if he hadn't seen through Mephisto's eyes, he'd have figured out when he asked you about the appointment

To his credit, he doesn't do anything to extreme. Much. He wants you to see that doctor one more time with him in tow, just so that he can tell the doctor they're fired in person

I don't think he'd kill the doctor, but he's certainly not above threatening them to make sure you get the care you deserve

The next doctor you see his one that he has personally vetted

ryu sunjae from lovely runner - they are both absolute losers for their respective lovers. i can picture rafayel in that one scene where sunjae was blowing kisses towards sol's house. no matter how hard his beloved tries to cut him out from their life to save him, he will always find his way back into their life.

jeong guwon from my demon - similar to sunjae, guwon is also another loser for his wife. (tbh i can imagine rafayel as a down bad simp for his lover; cue thomas sighing and shaking his head.) i can picture rafayel in the scene whereby guwon and dohee were doing that tango while fighting off their enemies too?!?!

lee yeon from tale of the nine-tailed - continuing the loser boy train, we have yeon as the final dude to add in this group. (specifically yeon from s2, bc the way he wanted to go back to his timeline so badly to see jiah matches rafayel's "the only person i'll ever love is my lover" energy.) their backstories also match in the sense that yeon never stopped searching for jiah and rafayel never stopped waiting for his bride.

myulmang from doom at your service - not me choosing myulmang bc they both made contracts to their beloveds [clown emoji]. but nonetheless they're similar in the sense that they won't think twice about eliminating someone who hurts their lover.

shin wooyeo from my roommate is a gumiho - again, another contract situation. wooyeo is a "classier" version of sylus imo, and one who uses less pet names. if sylus were the ml in this kdrama, he would defo keep an even more watchful eye on his beloved so that she doesn't go about losing his fox bead. (aur naur iw to write a gumiho au for sylus now...)

lee youngjoon from what's wrong with secretary kim? - similar to youngjoon, sylus will never let his lover leave. they want to leave his mansion? he will try 101 (legal) ways to make them stay. they will find snacks they like in their room more often. they will find new (and expensive) clothes in their wardrobe. heck, even an all-expenses-paid vacation! he wants to keep them close to him; he's afraid of them upping him to leave.

goo yeonjun from a time called you - like yeonjun, xavier has literally went back in time to save his beloved. he wants to see then safe and sound, and as long as they're happy, he's happy. as long as they're alive and breathing, he's fine with not being by their side. just watching them live their life is enough for him.

haru from extraordinary you - totally not projecting my all-time fav kdrama on him (or am i?) but xavier and haru have similar mannerisms and personality traits. yk how in the first few episodes danoh was dragging haru around and this guy just remained silent and followed along until one day he just started speaking? yeah that's the same with this guy. the person he likes could yap all day and he would willingly sit and listen.

moon seoha from see you in my 19th life - similar to seoha, xavier loves once in his life and he will only ever love his little star. he would never get over their death and if he's the one responsible for their death, he would be all the more upset with himself. he would throw himself into work all day and refuse to love again, thinking he shouldn't be able to fall in love ever again since he took his beloved's one chance of staying alive and happy away.

moon suho from black knight - they're both so overprotective of the one they love. the way suho essentially told sharon that haera is the only woman he would ever love is something i can picture zayne doing. if someone is out there trying to harm his beloved, you'd best believe zayne would do his best to prevent that from happening, even if it means giving up his own life.

lee suhyeok from bora! deborah - when zayne loves, he loves hard. like suhyeok, he's clumsy at expressing his affections, choosing to keep everything to himself and wait until he's 100% certain it's the right time to say whatever he wants to say. and sometimes, that can lead to disastrous endings (see also: suhyeok getting dumped on the same day he went to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend). both men are careful to a fault, all the more so with their beloved because they're scared of losing someone precious to them again.

yoo jihyuk from marry my husband - zayne, like jihyuk, would willingly stand aside and watch the one he loves fall in love with someone else. he would be supportive and wouldn't try to fight for their affection. his motto is "if they're happy, i'm happy" and he can live being an unmarried old man as long as he sees them happy.

Sylus in Grassland Memories...

Spoilers? Analisys?

This event was really cute and is something that was needed by both MC and Sylus: sincerity.

During several memories and events we see that despite everything Mc is still very suspicious of Sylus (and mean at times) And I don't judge her for that, but this event shows her slowly opening up to him too and him trying to take a step in the relationship. While with Xavier, Rafayel and Zayne she already has an established platonic/romantic relationship, where she is playful, where she takes care of them and allows them to take care of her, where trust is very well established and there is an air that everything is fine, with Sylus the situation is different.

In this timeline, they met in a more hostile way and he tried to resonate with her by force, other than that, they dance in a constant pattern of teasing here and provocation there, and in the end they don't know what they are.

Because MC sees Sylus as the powerful leader of a secret organization and that he has no reason to help her, unless he gets something in return and she doesn't remember their past. She is a hunter. She doesn't have to trust him. She has to complete the mission and leave. She doesn't give any space for vulnerability or weakness that can be taken advantage of, usually in the memories he is the one who finds her when she is hurt by a Wanderer.

Normally what we see is Sylus trying to get closer to her, breaking down some walls, going to Linkon to give an excuse to see each other, using Mephisto, anyway… he always takes the first step, but never forces her, he always gives the choice to get closer or not.

The people in the tribe are honest with each other and sincere about their feelings, MC even comments that people are loving and caring as a second nature to them in this tribe. Tarna even teaches the term "beloved" in the native language to both of them, while Mc says it's difficult to pronounce Sylus says he's going to say this word so much that Mc will learn it.

(for context, the two do a challenge and whoever loses has to say the name that Tarnia taught them and offers the wine to the other. Mc won (but between us it was because Sylus let her win)

"In grassland, whoever takes it keeps it."

Because there feelings are confessed right away "what if someone confesses in front and takes away who I admire from me? (something like that)" was something that Tarna said and that left both Sylus and MC thinking about it.

Sylus went from "I'm not in the mood to reveal our relationship right now" to "I need to show them that I already have a lover"

And he knows that she feels something for him too, so much so that he sewed the pounch for him (with a crow, black and red, it was very cute, admit it)

And in the end….

What I liked about this event was that it was just Sylus and MC. Not the leader of Onychinus, from the N109 Zone. Not the hunter from the Association, from Linkon. It was a simple Sylus with a simple MC in a land where expressing your feelings is a blessing.

Finally after settling in and letting Sylus effectively live rent free in my mind, I can efficiently say he is genuinely my favorite of all the love interests. Everything about his character, personality, and his story so far is so intriguing and I feel it was just really easy getting to know him since the story update mainly revolved around sticking by his side, considering he is the centerpiece of Onichynus.

But I do want to just appreciate altogether how great of a partner he is, because I'm at the point now where I'm kind of speechless and in awe of the efforts that went into bringing him to life.

I do think Sylus is intended for a very specific audience of the player base, the ones who are particularly seeking something more mature and also unconventional in an intimate partner. Granted, yes, this is a video game, and the fictional aspects of it contribute to what makes him who he is. However, he's a very self-sufficient, confident, and shameless man. The most attractive aspect about him is how he's very forward and doesn't sugar coat anything whatsoever. I'm a sucker for a man who is always twenty steps ahead of everybody else and knows how to play his cards right, I can't help it.

But god do I love how sweet he is. I love how he genuinely cares for the MC even if he doesn't outright say it. Actions speak louder than words, they always say. Of course he's gonna be a tease but when it comes to really serious circumstances, he acts immediately & knows just what to say to comfort/soothe someone.

While it is still too early, I just have this deep gnawing feeling that Sylus is going to be the endgame choice for MC. There's just so many indicators that point to it, especially when considering the most vital reason he sought her out was due to their shared predicament of having Aether Cores in their bodies. And with how he operates in the N109 Zone, he's not that terrible of a guy. But he definitely doesn't play by the rules and has his own agenda. He's selfish, but for good reason. We've seen how far he's willing to go to protect the person he cares about most, and it leaves me aching for more.

crackfic idea: sylus x reader mafia boss au but it uses all the cliché wattpad tropes used in every chapter. i'm talking about 365 days level. yanno, those plot highlights written by middle school girls who thrive off werewolf/vampire fics and books. but ofc it's a crackfic, so it's not 100% frfr and one scene in the fic would go something like this (more utc):

sylus leaned against the doorframe, broad frame blocking the doorway. his lips were quirked up into a smirk as he crossed his arms across his chest before he proceeded to say the following line:

"are you lost, baby girl?"

silence followed. you could practically hear the awkward cricket chirping sound effect in the background. you could only stare at the silver-haired man, jaw slackened in disbelief at what he had just said.

sylus' brow twitched as he broke character, raising a hand up and running it down his face as a disgruntled sigh left his mouth, "i knew following the twins' advice would be terrible."
