a lil update

so ~ just a quick writing update. well, as "quick" as i ever am about anything, two tiny things:

a couple of people have requested/asked/encouraged me to write other headcanons for all the rockets à la my some questionable headcanons post [NSFW]. as of right now, i do intend to fill these requests, but they take a surprising amount of brainpower (at least for me) and time, so please be patient!

that said ~ and this might not be exciting to anyone but me ~ but i am finally writing the finale to Domestic Scenes in Space Travel ~ the series starting with my very very first rocket x reader fic The very Boring Adventures of Space Pilot & Sweatshirt Girl. (also actually my first time ever writing a "reader" fic.... look i'm an old baba yaga and it was not a thing when i was last active in fandom).

it'll hopefully come out almost around the two year anniversary of the original. i've been wanting to write it forever but i didn't know how and frankly i think the "questionable headcanons" post unlocked something lol. but fellow writers and friends, this is what i mean when i say not to force yourself to finish something. i'm pretty sure that what i'm writing now is going to make us all happier (at least, i hope so) than anything i could've forced myself to come up with a year and a half ago. i'll probably share a little sneak peak later this week or early next, and will reshare the original series as we lead up to just remind anyone who's interested that they may want to reacquaint themselves with the og material. there will be a lot of references lol

similarly, i'm planning a blackmail material epilogue/"sequel" for next october and it's gonna be fuckin raunchy my dudes.

anyway i really hope you enjoy everything coming up this summer and i hope i can keep the energy up! the end of spring semester is often a really difficult time for my students and i'm still dealing with family issues, so everything is kind of unpredictable ~ but right now, i have a lot of creative energy and i hope i can share it with you in ways that you enjoy ♡♡♡

got tagged by @nfrtjytj to post 9 books i plan on reading in 2025! my reading goal is 80 books, which is what I've been reading on average for a few years (with 2023 being an outlier with 99 books... did i not work? did i not go to uni?? wtf). so this represents a little over 10% of what i plan on reading. but i HAVE to get to these books for the following reasons:

indispensable reads:

persuasion by jane austen: this is the oldest book on my tbr (since 2013) so i feel like this year is the year i get to it... granted emma, sense and sensibility and north & south have spent as much time gathering imaginary dust but i feel like i can get the ball rolling for more regency/victorian era classics

the secret history by donna tartt: i feel like everybody and their mother but i have read it so I'm putting it on my tbr for the nth time in multiple years just to convince myself I'll finally read it lol

minor detail by adania shibli: i also want to incorporate more Palestinian fiction into my usual rotation and this seems like a good place to start

sequels:

bringer of dust by j.m. miro: i damn near lost my mind when i read ordinary monsters last year so now I'm looking at my copy of bringer of dust with a lot of trepidation... i know these characters don't exist in real life yet unfortunately i feel like if they get hurt I'll have to go on a rampage so. will get go it this year tho <3

absolution by jeff vandermeer: i start a lot of series but rarely do i finish them. the southern reach trilogy - now quartet - was one of the few ones i was actually caught up with so i need to maintain that lol

a drop of corruption by robert jackson bennett: i loved the tainted cup so much it truly lives rent free in my mind. for this one i vow i will read it as soon as i get a copy in my hands!!

new stuff just because:

the blade itself by joe abercrombie: everybody loves this author so much and I've heard he keeps on getting better and better so 2025 is the year i get into his grimdark stuff and i happen to have thrifted a copy of this one so seems like a good place to start

perdido street station: same as above i've been meaning to read some china miéville for ages because he's a new weird icon and i love strange speculative fiction. the number of unread miéville books i have on my shelves is actually embarrassing lol

the sword of kaigen by m.l. wang: i have a feeling that once i read this book everything will pale in comparison so I've been putting it off for the sake of enjoying whatever's on my tbr lol but I'm excited to be absolutely wrecked by this one

My first post on here!! I read this book like a year ago and these were my thoughts on it. It's fairly spoiler free but if you want to be surprised by the book, ignore this. I've wanted to post book stuff on here for a while because I'm a gay opinionated bitch, obviously. I've finally gotten around to it. Without further adieu, enjoy!! Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo Date Started: 01/18/2024 Date Finished: 05/11/2024 Rating: 10/10 Additional Thoughts: Where do I even start? I took a couple days to fully form my opinion on this book. I had watched the Shadow and Bone Netflix series and that’s what initially drew my attention to the characters that make up the Crows. The book only furthered my enjoyment and love for these characters. The pacing of this book was perfect for me, it took the time on important and engaging events. The sprinkles of character lore were well placed and made sense, also holy shit! These kids have been through so much. Kaz and Inej’s lore is INSANE!! I love all the characters but Inej is my favorite. She’s so badass and layered, anyone who can make Kaz act like an idiot is going to be my favorite. The characters are younger in the book and there are moments when you are reminded of that. It’s usually hit and miss when authors try to write teenagers but they were very well written and not cringe at all. The heist part of this book was incredible, the plan constantly changing and reading the pov of each character was fantastic. Learning the plan as you read instead of being told the whole thing in a big block of dialogue kept me engaged in the story and hungry for the next chapter. Angst is something that is essential for me to enjoy a book and Kaz Brekker is angst personified, his angst makes sense and isn’t just thrown in. I felt so connected to the main characters of this book, they will forever live rent-free in my brain. I’m excited to start the sequel, the cliffhanger at the end was diabolical. I’ve talked about this book so much with my friends that I’ve got them hooked on it. I would 100% recommend this book to literally everyone I meet. I'm reading "Stalking Jack the Ripper" by Kerri Maniscalco currently, will post about that when I'm done. I HAVE started "Crooked Kingdom" but it's a slower read for some reason, but the same with the other book, will post about that when I get to it. Can't wait to shout into the void about books hehehehe!!

It's the last SSS/WW for the year and I have nothing to share, since I finished Ever After and am not itching to start something new (and I'm back on my Persona bullshit). Luckily, @that-disabled-princess tagged me in this writing round-up, so I am doing that instead. Please enjoy my bespoke banner.

I did actually publish stuff in January and February, but those were multichaptered things, and I am putting the works in the months I finished them/last updated them.

I have written 2 of the 4 prompts for the February Friday event. I started the other two, but I just.... haven't finished them. I should. I liked what I have written for it. Completing this fic wasn't a priority and it shows. Oof.

吃了吗? (Glee, Tike, 1.564 words)

Part of the series that explores the Asianness in Glee, and yes, it was me projecting on Tina again. Tina feels disconnected from her Korean heritage due to her adoption. Oop. I really, really liked this one and I think it's one of the best titles of the year. Yes, the title is Chinese, not Korean, since it mostly takes place in a Chinese restaurant. Mutual, 你吃饭了吗？

APRIL ❤️

All of me loves all of you (Class, Charlie/Matteusz, 2.598 words)

A story idea that I have had for years and I'm glad I finally wrote it down. Charlie is an alien, gasp! And he only looks human. In this fic, he shows Matteusz his alien self and reflects on his human disguise. I'm really, really happy with this one and it's one of the reasons that my love for Class reawakened this year.

Just Some Guy (Carry On, Snowbaz + Matt/Leslie, 15.664 words)

HONESTLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE EVER WRITTEN, if I may so myself. It's Snowbaz's 7.25's canon years at Watford from the perspective of someone who doesn't give a shit about them. I fucking love this fic. I fucking love MCD (Matt Christopher Davis) and I loved writing how disinterested he is in the whole Chosen One shenanigans. It makes for a fun fic, but it also makes sense if you look at the state of the world. So many people keep living ordinary lives while weird shit happens, and MCD is just ordinary. He's just some guy.

Find My Way (Legally Blonde, gen, 1.358 words)

I was on a Christian Borle binge during the summer, so I rewatched the musical Legally Blonde and this fic is a missing scene. Vivian realises what is happening and decides to break up with Warner and back-up Elle. I think it's neat.

OCTOBER 😺

What's in the name? (Glee, multi, WIP)

The first multichaptered installment of my Asianness in Glee series and it's all about names. It's partially me trying to make sense of some of Glee's choices, and me lifting from my life again. I have published Wes and Yu-Jin's and Tina's chapters. The one for Blaine is not written and I have started the one with Mike and Tina. I'm struggling with the latter, especially since I don't really understand Mike's circumstances either.

Ljubili se (Glee, Klaine, WIP)

Ah, yes, the fic that I love but also regret. I've started it for the 2023 Klaine December Challenge. I am just stuck on it, even though I have cool stuff written for it. I just don't know what to do with this one, to be honest. I want to finish it, but I have also realised that I don't like writing it anymore because I am so stuck on it. I am waiting for the inspiration to strike and for my passion to be re-ignited, because do I regret it? I also like writing it when I am writing it. And I am excited to share what I have for later chapters. There's a lil moment where Cooper tries to flirt with Denise and Quinn and Blaine are standing there like🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️. I will see where this fic will take me, I guess.

DECEMBER 🕯️

All's fair in love and war (Class, Charlie/Matteusz + Matteusz & Quill, 16.646 words)

The story that deserves better, since it has, like, 9 hits, but hey, that is what happens when you write for a small fandom. Which is a shame, cause this is also one of the best things I have written this year and I also enjoyed it a lot. I loved delving into the morality of the show Class through Matteusz, who is a middle man in-between two people with extreme conflicting opinions. And he loves both of them. Please watch Class, and read my fic after that!

Ever After (Glee, Klaine, 30.624 words)

The fic for the 2024 Klaine December Fanworks Challenge, which I did finish! Blaine is living in the kingdom of Daltonia, and Kurt is stranded in this place, so Blaine tries to help him get home.... to another world. I had a lot of fun, especially since I stopped Ljubili se for it, and it reminded how much I love writing Klaine. I also liked my world building here. I just think it is neat. I really enjoyed this one. I think I left some things open, since I didn't have room for more, but December was Ever After thought almost 24/7.

Aaaah I love this concept!! I feel like it's the default to put yourself down about your work and your art and I don't want to do that. I'm not going to claim that it's perfect or some kind of other ridiculous standard because it's not, but I have put my heart and soul and occasionally my entire ass into my writing and being depreciative about it feels like being deprecating of myself. I hadn't written for fun in so long, so to have found that again and to have made so many wonderful people happy along the way is more than I ever could have dreamed of just over a year ago. I refuse to not be proud of what I've created!

Anyway so

First Light will always be something I'm proud of. If I wrote it again now there'd be so many things I'd change, but it was the first thing I'd written in so long and it was so much fun.

(Cheating but I'm also really proud of some of the world building, plotting and dialogue in the post-game sequel - aside from the embarrassment that it will likely never get finished now)

I loved writing What Fools because it was something totally different from what I'd usually do. I needed a brain break from the intensity of other projects and I was literally just fucking around in my favourite setting with my favourite tropes like 'oooh and what if'. It's also kind of experimental structurally and I'm proud of the way it turned out. My weird little regency fae pride and prejudice meets midsummer night's dream meets bloodweave fic with a sentient house. So, thank you @gewhanaa for being the reason I wrote that.

I love A Good Heart because it's the fluffiest fucking thing I've EVER written, and it's proof that I CAN write short, dammit!! I CAN!!! Also it's about bloodweave being cat dads and Tara and Astarion being dubious allies and not at all friends

Good Men and Monsters is the exact opposite lol, I fully started it thinking it would be done in a week and it's not, but fuck it I've been having so much fun doing The Most Creepiest Victorian Gothic ~~ooooh~~. It's the furthest I've ever written outside of my comfort zone and I'm proud of what I've done with it. I'm still working on the ending of this one because it hates me but I'm proud of the theming, the stylistics, the references and the depth of thought in the imagery. It's one of my least popular fics statistically but the readers who do love it are so vocal it's become very special to me. I love it because it represents a challenge that I still haven't quite overcome, the writer that I'm still working on being, and I'm hopeful and excited about finishing it.

And finally, though I hate it as much as I love it sometimes, it has to be Season. It started out as something so different from what it's become, but the past year of writing it has been incredible on so many levels. To have been rejected by the publishing industry for so long, to let go of all of that and write something that would NEVER work as a conventionally published novel, that lives in a way fanfic can that physical novels can't, and means so much to so many readers, has been an utterly indescribable experience. I've written so much about things that I wasn't even really emotionally equipped to address when I started, and I genuinely feel like writing it has been a growing and healing process. It's not perfect by a long way, and I'm working on accepting that it doesn't have to be. That it can't be, really (what is perfect anyway??? It's fanfic we write for fun and for free for the love of the thing, and that's enough). Part of what I've learned is that not everyone will like everything you write and that's okay! That doesn't mean it's bad or I'm a bad writer, it just means it's not for them. That was an important lesson, I think, because it's made it easier to move on from a decade of rejections. Oh structurally and technically there are things I would probably change if I could, but I'm so proud of myself for writing it at all, and it's still a project that is teaching me every day. That's something special. And even if I totally flub the ending, I'll always be the person that this fic and the community I found through it have made me. And I'll forever be grateful for that.

Avelera's Dreamling Fic Status Update:

Keeping Sanctuary (subscribe for updates here) - Giving Sanctuary Sequel follows Dream and Hob from the events of the altered meeting in 1689 up to the modern era. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1689 meeting?) Current word count: ~7,000 words across several chapters. Realistic progress update: 1/10 complete total, Ch. 1 is about 1/5 complete.

Come live with me and be my love - Dream and Hob fall in love during the Regency Era when Dream loses a bet to Desire. Shenanigans ensue. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1789 meeting?) Ch. 16 is at 2,500 words, probably about 1/3 done. Current plan is to wrap up Part 1 in the next few chapters then create a part 2 which finishes out their "1 year of marriage" on a month by month basis instead of following them day to day like Part 1 done. Probably won't be a separate fic though, just a change of format.

This Rough Magic - My take on "Hob rescues Dream from Burgess" with a twist that Hob ends up on Burgess's radar himself when he picked up some occult magic skills in the hopes of contacting Dream after 1889 and apologizing. Now he has to pretend to be friends with Burgess in order to get them both out of there, because Burgess thinks Hob can help force Dream to give him immortality. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1889 meeting?) Ch. 9 is about 800 words in. Story is still very much in progress I just have a lot of WIPs, as you can see.

Joke's On You (I'm Into That) - The 1589 meeting goes very different when Hob proposes to Dream, who is so offended that he just can't let the matter go. A very angry, very horny competition kicks off between them. (Aka, what if they hooked up in 1589 when they were both at their absolute worst as people?) I have literally 40,000 words written for the rest of this fic. The problem is, there's big gaps in that first draft I have to fill in and scenes that need to be added. This might be my favorite WIP but it's also the hardest to write with all the smut scenes so it'll arrive whenever I can manage, I'm afraid.

Banana Daiquiris Ch. 2 - Comic-canon compliant (mostly) - Dream fakes his death to go on a vacation with Hob and Destruction. They end up in Tahiti. Destruction plays matchmaker. Hob doesn't know whether to thank Destruction or strangle him. Current word count 6,000 words. I've been playing around with adding on to this fic for ages. One of these days, I'll pull it all together.

Great Triumphs and Tragedies - aka, "Dream Accidentally Cursed Hob with a Normal Life" Fic - Dream learns that from 1689 on, Hob's life has been safe. Too safe. Improbably safe. Nothing bad or extraordinary or even terribly special has happened to him since Dream began to consider Hob his friend. He knows this because during his imprisonment, Hob's life became exciting again and suddenly went back to normal the day Dream was freed. Hob is not convinced that Dream is the reason for this, Dream disagrees. They talk about it. And fight about it. And some things that they've probably needed to talk about for a long time finally get said. (aka, sometimes the author just needs to write their weird headcanon into a 20,000 word fic that's almost entirely dialogue). Current word count: 19,000 words and about 80-90% finished, 3 of 4 chapters written. I'm hoping that posting what I've got will help push me through the final stretch. Real life interrupted for a bit though.

Unraveling Centuries, aka the Hob Amesia Fic - Dream and Hob are dating officially now in the 21st century when Hob gets hit with what seems to be a memory loss curse, shaving off 100 years of his life each day until Dream finds a cure. This effectively grants Dream a walk down memory lane as he is reacquainted with the Hob of each era and, in the process, learns how much longer Hob cared for him than Dream ever realized. Current word count: 40,000 words. Currently writing 1489 (1889-1589 are done) and re-writing the opening. First chapter is posted!

And for fics that haven't been posted anywhere yet (you can subscribe on my Ao3 author page for alerts about them):

"Fairy God Marlowe" - 1589 fixit fic where Hob and Kit Marlowe strike up a conversation while Dream and Shaxberd are talking. Hob and Marlowe talk about plays, and faith, and salvation, and queer love, and what it means to live forever. Hob gets a second chance at a first impression. Current word count: ~5,000 words. Sadly, it's all dialogue in script format. I'd need to convert it into prose to publish which would be a slog. So it's a bit shelved until I find the energy to do so. No, I will not post it in script format, I'm allergic to the thought.

I've got a few other concepts kicking around, but these are the ones that actually have (*does a quick calculation*) over 100,000 words written that I haven't had the chance to post yet?? And it's driving me insane????

today i had WORK blah and what was even worse </333 i got a surprise assignment and now im stressing over it </333 but now im trying to relax and forget about all of my problems because im avoidant HAHAHAHAH what about you?? how was your day??

omg HAHAH my writing process is pretty chaotic at first. its just like . a few vague ideas for scenes and then try to build a plot that pulls them together aifuhasudfih once i have like a general idea for a plot, i'll start to fill out everything around it. and THEN my favorite step, i drag myself to the SPREADSHEETS. i love my spreadsheets. once i get my spreadsheets (if it's a series), ill decide my chapter limit (which usually changes. see: civzai, what was supposed to be a 3 parter and became a 12 chapter fic with a sequel LOL.) but i always do try to start with a limit dfuahsudfhsa. once i get the general chapter count, ill decide what the main conflict of each chapter is/what changes in the plot in this chapter. i try to limit myself for four scenes to get to that progression otherwise fhauisfhudsa it would get ridiculous. i don't usually go into detail about each chapter while planning though. when i do, i usually get bored and don't finish things, so i just leave it as the general plot progression and then when i get to the chapter itself, ill just go in and write the chapter, and then go back to the spreadsheet to add in the details so that i have a reference to go back to for future chapters IF THAT MAKES SENSE LOL there is a method to the madness i swear

and omg. im gonna answer this in two ways. 1 being like actual real life watching the anime and 2 being selfship. but:

1) i was repulsed by him at first LOLLL. i dropped bsd because ppl hyped me up to him and told me id like him, and i met him in episode 1 and just couldn't continue because i didn't like him. when i picked it back up again 2 ish years ago, i managed to like . stay strong until the mersault arc. but then i finally gave in like ugh i kind of like fyodor ...... and then the walls i had up for dazai crumbled quite quickly after that LOLL. could u imagine, me accepting that i like fyodor led me to accepting i like dazai . he's forever bitter about it.

2) BUT FOR SELFSHIP . i hc in my selfship (ill go main au, so its my wykyk/pmreader universe) that i was like . very conflicted about him at first. like i was instinctively drawn to him - we were both very lonely & found like a kindred spirit in each other, but both of us were also wary of letting our guard down around someone. i was on my own because of mori for a while trying to hold my own in kyoto, and he was making his name in the port mafia & always having to watch his back and could never trust anyone. so it was quite a bit of dancing around each other for a few weeks. + a part of me was resentful and bitter cuz i felt like i'd been cast aside by mori for him. but . one thing led to another and LOL he ended up literally moving into my apartment and we ended up getting close to each other bc of that. casamu is the epitome of "never casual" i fear. neither of us can be casual about anything.

I'm so excited to share this after so many months!!! ❤️ I have been working on this promo since November. In September, when I started writing TNoN, I knew I would write a "Season 3", too, to try and tell the whole story in my head. It has been a delightful journey to share this version of season 2 with you. It really made my whole world every time I received a comment, a DM, or your kudos in the mail. I really wouldn't have been able to finish this without them.

The past months have been a bit crazy, which made it almost impossible for me to write 20k words every two weeks, as I had been doing since September. I burned myself out, I have to admit, and then things started happening™. Because of all of it, it's taken me almost three months to finish TNON. Since I don't want that to happen with this "Season 3," I've decided to make some changes.

✸ PUBLISHING DATES & INFO

THE DUST OF STARS WILL START ON APRIL 5th.

IT WILL HAVE 24 CHAPTERS, THREE FOR EVERY CASE. This has been the hardest decision to make, honestly. I loved the format of a chapter for a case, but I know I won't have the time in the next months to chunk out 20k words with such regularity, and I really don't want to risk abandoning this, so... If you wish to wait to read the whole "episode", you can still do that, if you don't mind the wait.

A CHAPTER EVERY TWO WEEKS (hopefully).

RATING GOES UP FROM MATURE TO EXPLICIT (WITH A WAY TO SKIP SOME SCENES IF YOU WISH TO). This has been a headache for me for months. I know some people prefer to avoid explicit scenes, and since the first work was rated M, I wanted to allow you to avoid them. I considered even posting two versions. However, since I've split the work into chapters, I've kind of solved this. Chapters with explicit scenes will have an (E) in the title and be divided to make them easier to skip.

COUNTDOWN TO APRIL 5TH. Every day (starting tomorrow) until the 5th, I will post some characters' posters I've made (like the ones for Season 1) and add a bit of Chapter 1 or a song from the soundtrack related to the characters, so stay tuned! What fandom should I focus on writing for during the month of March?

Hey everyone! My birthday is on Friday - which I am really excited about. I'm going out for my birthday and I'm probably gonna take a few days off after that just to relax and hang out, so I won't be working on fics for a few days, but - when I come back, I want to be working on some fun stuff. And that means I have posted my last fic of February.

However, lately, I have had a really hard time choosing between what WIPs I want to work on. I had more focus during the month of February because I was rewatching The Walking Dead and only working on WIPs related to that fandom, so I have decided that this is something new I am gonna try. Every month (or so), I am gonna post a poll to decide which fandom I am gonna work on. And then, whatever the winner of the poll is, I am gonna rewatch the source material and focus my energy on only working on WIPs from that fandom.

So, if you have really wanted to see me work on something from one of these fandoms, now is your time to speak up. I will weight the results of the poll - but I will also more heavily weigh the opinions of people who comment on this poll and tell me if there's a particular WIP you're excited about or if you send me an anon message saying so. I was slightly considering putting Stranger Things and/or Criminal Minds on this list, but I don't quite think I'm ready to get back to writing for those fandoms yet. But whatever the winner of this poll is won't be on next month's poll. So I might need another fandom to fill that slot.

DC Titans

My main priority for this fandom would be the second part of The Jaws of Life - Jason Todd x GN!Reader. Which, so far, nobody has asked about and the original comment goal has not been met. You can read the first part here if you have not read it, or read the original 'first part' of the series - Emergency Contact.

I would also potentially like to work on a third part to the series:

Death of An Executioner - Jason Todd x GN!Reader. Lovers Fighting. Hurt and Comfort, Extreme Angst, Happy Ending. Set during Season 3. Sequel to the above fic. You and Jason are standing on rocky ground. He feels like he owes Crane his life because the man literally brought him back from the dead, but you don't care about that - you just want to ditch Gotham and run away to chase peace somewhere else. Things get a lot more complicated when Crane realises he can use you to his advantage, and Jason finally has to go crawling back to the Titans, begging for their help. (10,000 words est.) (This will be the sequel to The Jaws of Life, ending out the story as a perfect trilogy. It is my ultimate goal to write this story sometime during 2025, finishing out the arc of the trilogy with my ideal perfect ending.)

Also, I really want to work more on the 'One Moment Per Episode With Dick Grayson' Series. I really want to write more of these. It's a lot of fun and I really want to make more progress on it!

Teen Wolf

Bark Like You Want It aka The Isaac Closet Rut Fic - Sub!Isaac Lahey x Fem!Thick!Reader. Acquaintances/Friends to Lovers. Smut. Set during Season 3. You and Isaac get stuck restocking the janitor's closet together during a detention punishment, and being in tight closed space with you, being drowned in your scent accidentally sends Isaac into a rut. (8,000 words est.)

Untitled - Sequel to Blood In The Water - Void!Stiles Stilinski x Fem!Reader. Extreme Angst, Horror, Gore. Set during Season 3. You are rudely awoken in the hospital after narrowly surviving a stabbing that Void intended to kill you. But he ensures you that now, he has a greater, grander purpose for you. (10,000 words est.) 

Harry Potter

Untitled aka 'The One Where Fred is Obsessed With Your Ass' (aka Punishment Anal with Fred) - Fred Weasley x Fem!Ravenclaw!Reader. Annoyances/Enemies to 'Lovers'. Smut/PWP. Hogwarts Era. One day in class, Fred chases his impulsive mischief and boldly grabs your ass - in response, you smack him with a paper that you're holding. Naturally, McGonagall doesn't see what he did, and only sees your retaliation. Being forced to apologise to the prankster makes you determined to get him caught in the act, which gets you caught in a loop of wearing short skirts in front of him and bending over around him and eventually, screaming and yelling at him when he grabs your ass and smacks it and nobody else ever catches him doing it. And the whole cat and mouse game comes to a head when you get caught in the Gryffindor common room late one night and he catches you alone, finally tired of your teasing and ready to show you a darker side of his mischievous personality. Untitled aka 'The One Where George Handcuffs Himself To You As A Prank' - George Weasley x Fem!Reader. Annoyances/'Enemies' to Lovers. Smut with Plot. Set Post War. What it says on the tin - George is fed up with the fact that you don't seem to like him very much, and he is determined to get you to like him. One day he finds a pair of handcuffs on Harry's desk and (not knowing that they are enchanted to keep criminals from escaping with basic spells) he takes them and conveniently forgets to take the key, and handcuffs himself to you so that you will be forced to like him by spending time with him. After you demand to be let go, and several failed attempts to escape the cuffs with basic magic that grow increasingly dangerous (and with Harry out of the country on a topic secret mission and a Ministry curse breaker delayed with other business) you two are stuck together for a full day, and oddly enough, George's theory is right. It helps that you are pulled close by his body weight while he sleeps and accidentally sit on his boner, forcing you to face the fact that annoyance and lust are two very similar emotions. So why do you have a nagging feeling that something is missing? Too bad for you, he broke your heart when he rudely snubbed you and then disappeared for months, only to show up out of the blue wearing an expensive bespoke suit and talking about - loving you back? In Too Deep - Nick Jones (House of Wax) x Fem!Reader. Exes to Lovers. Smut, Emotional Angst, and Horror/Gore. Hurt No Comfort. When you are invited on a trip to see a football game out of state, you end up thinking it's a big mistake when your ex is also on the trip, and he spends the entire car ride glaring at you. It seems like an even worse idea when you're stuck sharing a tent with him. But after some feelings and a cigarette are shared, you find out - the trip wasn't such a bad idea after all. (10,000 words est.)

Untitled aka ‘The One That Came To Me In A Dream’ - Alex Karev x Surgical Intern Fem!Reader. Strangers to Friends With Benefits to Lovers. Smut, Emotional Angst. Set during Season 3. Partway through the MAGIC intern year, you are ‘transferred’ to Seattle Grace from another hospital in another state, and nobody seems to know anything about your background. Because Bailey is your resident, her other interns are incredibly curious about where you’re from and why you’re transferring so suddenly - Alex is the only one who doesn’t seem to care, especially when the two of you start having mindless crazy animal sex with absolutely no strings attached. However, he starts to care very much when Cristina discovers a bomb in the hospital in the patient room where all of you hang out, and somehow - you know how to defuse it. (10,000 words est, or more. As for Dial Tone, it's the planned sequel for my fic Collect Call, aka the accidental sexting/phone sex/lingerie/feminization fic lol. In this one, obikin finally reunite after weeks apart since their call, but despite the overwhelming excitement Anakin's still got his usual anxieties and presumptions to get over. Hope you enjoy this little bit!

“So you’re really not mad?” Anakin asked, his voice simultaneously labored with excitement and brittle with the agitating insecurity scratching at his throat like swallowed sand. His mind reeled with conflicting sensation, fearful for a response even as his body surrendered fully to his Master. The painful thrill of Obi-Wan’s beard piercing through the fine mesh of his bra made him gasp, his right hand shooting up to clench too-tight in the loose fabric hanging from Obi-Wan’s hip. 

Obi-Wan closed his eyes, deep shadows falling on his long lashes. His lips dragged over the covered peaks of Anakin’s chest, his tongue darting out to tease his nipple. “Whatever could I possibly be mad about, darling?” he asked, heady and distracted.

“I thought you wouldn’t… You don’t care that I’m not a real girl?” Anakin tried to force durasteel strength into his voice, only barely succeeding before he had to bite his lip in a desperate fight against his swelling anxiety. No matter what transpired on their call weeks ago, Obi-Wan could only ignore the obvious for so long. Pretending Anakin was a girl only worked until there was a hard cock straining against his Master's hip. 

The loaded question made Obi-Wan pull back, expression shifting from heated to pensive. The loss of his eager warmth and questing tongue confirmed every one of Anakin’s fears, shooting a painful shock through his chest. He had a compulsion to ruin everything, it seemed. If he’d only shut up they could have continued without having to confront the bitter truth. 

Only Obi-Wan’s lingering hands on his ribs soothed this simmering panic. Anakin forced a deep breath before glancing up beneath his brow to find Obi-Wan staring back with an apologetic grimace. 

“I’m afraid I might not have expressed myself very well during our little conversation, Anakin. When I said I don’t make a habit of seducing other men I meant I don’t typically initiate casual flings, not that I wouldn’t be interested in you because of your sex. Forgive me, I misspoke, and I might have, well… taken advantage of your misunderstanding,” Obi-Wan finished his explanation with an amused grin, pulling Anakin closer into his body by the waist. “Unless, do you want to be a real girl?” 

Anakin considered the question, eyes falling as he retreated within himself. He’d never really thought about it before.

Being a man brought him no shortage of pride. His very identity rested on feeling strong, and protective, and noble in an increasingly chaotic universe. The HoloNet tabloids constantly posted fawning pictures of his broad shoulders and sharp jawline that made him preen with flattered joy. Never had he questioned or resented his place as a man. 

And yet…

He couldn’t deny the unfettered pleasure that bloomed within him like a Corellian rose when he slipped into his laciest panties, and there came a certain sort of peace with feeling pretty and cherished. Padmé had once told him in jest that she felt more masculine than him during their time in the bedroom. At the time, he didn’t know why the statement made him blush and avert his eyes. Now, he began to understand just she meant, and what he truly desired. 

Perhaps his heated comlink call with Obi-Wan hadn’t been an impulsive one-off to seduce his Master, a bizarre fantasy to recount and laugh about in the future. No, deep down, he realized, he had desired this for a long time. He wanted this— to feel small, and sexy, and owned by the man he trusted with his very soul. 

“Not,” Anakin began, clearing his throat, “not in real life.” 

All the while throughout Anakin’s long reflection Obi-Wan had waited patiently, treating him to a calm smile and soothing caresses along his ribs. With this final confession his eyes darkened, lingering closer to brush Anakin's lips with his breath. “But here? When you’re with me, in our quarters, in our bed," slowly drawled Obi-Wan, pressing kisses into Anakin's skin, "do you want to be my special girl?”

December Writing Progress Wrap-up

Today I decided that on the last Saturday of every month I want to share my writing progress.  That way I can look back and see what I did or was inspired by in previous months.  December was a big month for me. After years of procrastination, I finally sat down and began to write fics I’ve been wanting to write for years now.  I’m proud of myself for finally gaining the courage to join the AO3 community and I hope to continue to be a part of it in 2025.

What I published

This is Me – Was a Camp Rock Inspired Seiya x Usagi fic, heavily inspired by an unfinished fanfic I wrote in the 2010s.  I honestly wrote this fic because I read a Tumblr post about reading our old bad fanfiction for funsies and this was the result of it.  I am honestly glad I did this.  Not only did I get to write a scene I always wanted to write, but this fic was also a tribute to a dear friend of mine who passed away who was part of the Camp Rock fanfiction community back in the day.  I hope she liked that the first fic I wrote was inspired by her love of fanfic.  Even though she never really got my love of Sailor Moon.

I’m Giving You the Fire – was the unasked for but written sequel in the same universe as This is Me.  This fic again is a Usagi x Seiya fic, except from Chibiusa’s POV, who in this fic is Usagi’s cousin.  This fic was heavily inspired by rereading my old fic outline and seeing how excited I have been about writing this scene taking place during Camp Rock 2 sequel I had planned.  However, I never got that far to begin with.  I’m glad I finally got to write that scene, and I had fun with it.

The Imperial House – This is the fic I was most excited to post.  I had planned on releasing it in January 2025.  However I had so much inspiration, I was able to post the Prologue and Act One early.  This fic is my Goong inspired, Hana Yori Dango fic where Tsukushi finds out she’s engaged to grandson of the Emperor of Japan.  The Imperial House is the first book of a planned trilogy and is my focus when it comes to writing longer fics.  Honestly, I’m glad it’s finally out and that people are enjoying it. I've had this story in my head since 2020 and I'm glad to be finally writing it out.

Currently Writing

The Imperial House –  I’m currently focusing on having a backlog written since grad school takes a lot out of me and I want to try to post a chapter a month.  However, I know real life happens.  Currently the first drafts of Act Two through Act Four have been written and I am currently writing the first draft of Act Five as of posting this.  The story has been completely outlined, so hopefully I can try to stay on track.

Future Goals for January

Mene – is a Hana Yori Dango Au - Canon Divergence Tsukushi x Akira one-shot that I’m working on as a side project.  I know I said I was planning on working on it one day, but I got a really good idea while working at my job today. It’s currently in the drafting stages and I have no estimate of when I’m releasing it.

The Imperial House – The goal is to finish editing and finalizing Act Two and post it in mid-January.

Final Thoughts

toxic till the end – is the AU - Non-powers Seiya x Usagi one-shot I wrote while listening to the album Rosie at 1AM when I couldn’t sleep after Christmas.  I hadn’t planned on publishing it because it’s about a toxic relationship. However, a fellow AO3 writer @purplesoil who I was chatting with a few days back encouraged me too.  The plans are to release it on New Years Day.

I want to give a quick shoutout to both @sojirosteacup (who is also an author on AO3 and you should check their blog to get a link to their account) and @hana-yori-dango-forever who have been nothing but nice to me since I've started my fanfic writing journey.  Both of them have encouraged me to write my fics, offer me advice, promote my stories, and listen to my rants about my works.  Honestly if it wasn’t for your both I would have given up writing my story, before I even started.

Anyway, writing in 2024 was great, looking forward to growing more in 2025.

Day #4338

for today's post, I was thinking I should update everyone on my activities concerning rhythm thief for the past two years. I'll be spilling my monster truck of an essay filled with my thoughts and concerns (embarrassing) so I'm putting it beneath the cut 🤧

I haven't been able to work on RT as much as I would like to as compared to two years ago. I got really depressed to the point I couldn't go outside for months, then I got a part-time job for two months last summer, and I also reinstalled a game so that fandom's been at the forefront of my brain for the past two years. also, I started graduate school, and I'm on track to graduate by the end of this year!!! so honestly I've been giving my all to a different fandom's wiki work and my studies... and thankfully I'm happier now!! and then at some point, I will have to get my first big girl job 😭😭😭 praying someone will hire me 🙏

and then as for my rhythm thief activities, I don't know, sometimes I feel like I should be releasing the content all properly and beautifully packaged, especially since I'm not halfway done with some things. I don't like showing off my incomplete work I guess? but then today I realized that I should probably share what I'm doing so y'all know I'm not purposefully gatekeeping things or... I don't know (paranoid)

that said, here's a non-exhaustive list of things I have been working on or plan to do:

datamining ET and PC. I've been working on and off since 2020 with nicole and zai, two of my besties who have also lent a hand in researching datamining methods for images, audio, video, text, and working with the 3D models in both games. I want to somehow have the paris model viewable on the RT wiki using the interactive map function

this is moreso nicole's hard work, but once in a while, we're slowly uncovering/recovering RT materials like magazine article scans and TV interviews. it's quite difficult to track down magazine scans since we'd most likely need to buy some off resellers, and they're 10-year-old content so it's hard to track down...

tangentially related, I connected with a programmer acquaintance of mine and they helped me decode the entire PC text in Japanese, and I'm super excited to read it. I have plans to make a sort of story viewer site where you can select if you want to read the official EN translation, my translation, and the original JP text, complete with sprites, backgrounds, and text boxes. I wanted a nicer alternative than on the RT wiki, where the official EN script is up currently

about translations, I've been working on subtitling the ~24-minute TV special. I have the JP script done (with help from a Japanese friend) and timing done, but I just need to actually finish translating. I think I have about 1/2 done. I'm currently considering finding a proofer so that hopefully I will feel more assured about my work when it's done. it's tough getting the motivation to translate, but I really want to put out my best work possible for RT through accurate translations. I've seen what inaccurate/machine translations have done to create misunderstandings/the spread of misinformation in other fandoms, and yet I've been taking so much time... I feel guilty for sitting on so much content I want to go through but I often can't go through with it unless I feel up for it (which is rare) and I'm also terribly picky on my work so I like to translate things by myself (and leave proofing to another person). I'm sorry for being so complicated about this 😭

I said it last year, but I've been wanting to update my blog's theme to more accurately match it as an RT info hub in addition to counting the days until the sequel releases gimmick. I want to make the RT translations I release easily accessible, but I think I've been slacking on this because I feel I don't have much (multiple large projects) to showcase just yet

finally, for the RT wiki. I have plans to get back into editing for the RT wiki and I'm currently collaborating with some other trusted editors in various standardization and appearance improvements. unfortunately, I don't think I have enough time to tackle writing content for all pages... if anyone seriously would like to help describe characters and their actions in the main plot, locations, or anything else you think should be improved, please!! by all means, edit the wiki!!

I plan to host an RT 15th anniversary project in 2027 where fan works will be displayed on the TSX billboard in times square. I also want to release another RT doujin/zine again, but my JP friend and I are too busy to plan something concrete

if you scrolled to the bottom for the tldr, I think I often try and perfect things on my own, which is why it takes me so long to work on things... (also I'm like super picky, I guess that's the perfectionist in me). I have so many plans like translating this, subtitling that, releasing this datamined content, updating the wiki, participating in RT fan projects... it's a lot to balance when my mind is elsewhere and I've been feeling guilty and ashamed to admit it 😭

the other fandom that's been occupying my mind has taken up much of my brain space, and I'm thinking it might be healthier to cut back and refocus on RT, my main beloved fandom again, but it's a bit difficult since I have made myself a reliable figure in that fandom's wiki team 🤧 tbh I think I might have au/adhd or something cause wow..... I sure sound like it with my strong fixations and difficulty finding motivation (even though RT's the thing I love the most in my life)

I want to draw!! translate!! wiki edit!! do anything and everything for RT!! it's been massively difficult for me for years and I'm sharing my frustrations with you all 😭 before I knew it, so many years have passed and I have barely released anything. I hope no one thinks of me any lesser, but I thought it would be good to share my thoughts, my goals, and my passion with my followers since I think I'm more than "just that one person who's been running an RT gimmick blog for over a decade" !!! that's all!!! thanks for reading!!! 🥹🥹🥹

I have this problem that finally showed up after many years, I'm a few chapters away from completing my book. After almost 5 years writing this through happy times and sad times, I'm finally done! Yet, I can't move on. Instead of being happy to finally complete my passion project, I feel myself grieving the eventuality. I spent years building my world, story, characters etc... and now I don't want it to end, I don't want to complete it. Suffering from success if you will.

Do you have any tips on this fear of completion? My book is set up as a stand-alone, so making a sequel wouldn't work.

Have you ever had this "completion grief" and if so, how did you move on from it?

Dealing with Creative Grief When Story is Done

It's normal to feel grief upon completion of a story, especially one that you've been working on a long time and/or has been emotionally demanding. Here are some things you can do to help work through this feeling:

1 - Be Proud of Your "Baby Bird" - Your baby bird has flown your now empty nest, but take a moment to recognize the beauty of this moment... this project you've worked so hard on is now complete and ready to fly away. You've done everything you can for it, so now it's time to let it spread its wings and live a life of its own. As much as it's sad, it's exciting, too. And it's a huge accomplishment!

2 - Find Closure with Celebration - Many creatives find celebration a helpful way to find closure when a project is finished. This can be something small, like ordering pizza or enjoying a glass of champagne, or it could be something bigger, like having a nice dinner out with friends, or even throwing a little party. Having any sort of event to mark the occasion can help it to feel more final, but in a way that is happy and comforting.

3 - Start a New Project - With one project finished and out in the world, you may find it helpful to start planning a new project, or at least start thinking about one. Throwing that leftover creative energy into something new helps with that sense of emptiness, distracts you from creative grief due to the finished project, and heals your heart with enthusiasm for a new world, new characters, and new plot.

4 - Schedule a Future Visit - Sometimes it helps to plan to revisit the completed project in some way at a future date. That could be reading it at some point, if you're able to read through finished projects and enjoy them. It could be creating a collection of mood boards for the story and characters and sharing them with your readers. It might be doing a reading of the first chapter on an Instagram live, or--hear me out on this--writing a companion story. Now, I don't mean writing a sequel or even a story that you'd share necessarily, but more something for yourself, kind of like fan-fiction of your own work, just as a way to get into your story and revisit the characters and world. And truth be told, if you plan to do this--say on the six-month anniversary of when your story was finished--it will give you a sense of the story living on that will help you get through your grief now, but by the time you get to that point, you probably won't need to do it anymore.

5 - Wait for It To Pass - Of course the hard thing about any kind of grief is there's not a whole lot you can do to make it go away. For the most part, you just have to acknowledge that it's there and give yourself the grace needed to get through it. Most of the time, it passes more quickly than you might expect, and you'll be onto something new in now time.

Was browsing through early BOBF/Mando S3 criticisms on Tumblr and WOW, 93% of S2’s viewership dropped when S3 finished airing for an extremely understandable reason. As someone who got into Dinluke after all the dust settled I can only imagine what it was like becoming invested in Din’s story and being floored by the S2 finale only for it to get totally swerve-balled after a long-anticipated wait. How did you avoid the disappointment and burnout?

Spite is an incredibly powerful motivator, let me tell you.

I'm halfway joking about that, btw. I could say I'm used to disappointment and I also worked really hard not to take things too personally after being disappointed time and again year after year by fandoms I was in. Imo the healthiest attitude is that no show/movie/book/videogames/etc will ever play out the way you want/think it should so take what you can get and trash the rest. By the time I started watching The Mandalorian, I'd been burnt badly by Star Trek AOS, the Sequel Trilogy, the MCU, and the Disney machine, and I had to figure out how to accept that I like what I like, I can't change what I can't change, and I can/will run the fuck off with what I can change, which is making wildly fun and fulfilling transformative shit like fanfics and fanart.

I was actually excited about TBOBF and was utterly betrayed by the executive decision to throw him and Fennec to the side in order to absolutely trash the Season 2 finale of the Mando Show by having Din and Grogu reunite just like that. I guess I got lucky in that I had a long-running fic series that I was heavily invested in and I was not about to let Disney stop me from finishing it. Instead of letting my frustrations kill my interest in the show and fandom, I turned it into motivation to keep telling the story I wanted to tell based on the fallout of Season 2. It also helped that Andor happened.

I quit Season 3 of the Mando Show after the 1st episode and it was the best decision I ever made. I had a really rough time with it and was encouraged to step away if it was giving me too much stress. I'm glad for that. Less time and energy picking about Filoni&Favreau and Disney Lucasfilm's decisions and disappointments, more time and energy spent writing and drawing the dinluke I want to see. The nice thing about Star Wars is that it is an old and vast sandbox. Plenty of room here to build whatever sandcastles and dig however many holes you want while canon goes floundering by.

I think also that it really helped to find spaces to share with people who vibe on the same wavelength, so I'm not alone to my thoughts and spiraling myself out of a fandom I enjoyed (like what happened with TLJ but I shan't go there bc this response is long enough). Those posts about having friends you can shit-talk things with? Valid af. You need outlets to vent your grievances without setting bridges on fire, and it'll help your enjoyment of things in the long run.

I didn't avoid the disappointment but I figured out how to make something of it, so I'm still writing dinluke, I'm still drawing dinluke, I'm still getting giddy over dinluke. I actively choose to do what I want with them, and nothing Disney Lucasfilm puts out is ever going to stop me.

Last song I listened to: Soap by The Oh Hellos. I burn CDs and listen to them in my car. (The first few I tried to give themes and titles, and select the perfect song orders, but ended up kind of bad and the other was cursed and wouldn't play even though I remade it three times, so I just switched to throwing a ton of songs together on "Random Mixes" and enjoying.) I was listening to my very first random mix on the drive home from work and this one came up. It's a pretty snazzy song. I think Theseus and Hello, My Old Heart are my favourites from the band.

Last book I read: Can I do a couple? I just recently finished Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell. It's the first book of Court of Shadows, the sequel series to his Greatcoats series. Greatcoats is one of my favourite series, filled with swashbuckling action, clever humour, and an absolutely miserable protagonist, Falcio val Mond, who always manages to get back up and keep going anyway. I read everything de Castell writes, and after a string of books with severe pacing problems (check out The Malevolent Seven for a book that doesn't have a second act) and other problems (I have a hard time seeing any book topping Crucible of Chaos as the worst book I've read this year), he finally seems to be back. The book didn't pack quite the emotional punch of some of his other books, but it definitely made me want to jump up and cheer for the heroes at the end.

The other book I just finished is The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. I liked her Winternight Trilogy (look it up and be prepared for some absolutely gorgeous covers, with prose to match), so I was excited to see something new from her. This book was about World War I, with some fantasy elements used for magic realism. (Portraying a soldier's struggle with addiction and PTSD through the lens of him losing his soul to the devil was a brilliant idea.) I most subsist on a steady diet of fantasy books, but this one had me hungering to read a few more historical books. I might have to pick up some books about the Halifax Explosion.

Last film I watched: I haven't watched much on my own for a while, but my friends do a movie night every Sunday. The last two times I tuned in, we watched Jesus Christ Superstar and Pokemon 3: Spell of the Unown. They were both fairly cute movies. I liked Judas's actor.

Last TV series I watched: I've been making my way through The Office for the first time. I'm on Season 3 and this happened to me, actually. There was some stuff I was like, "Wow, that was funny. I should tell my coworkers about it," but then I realized that I can't be the guy who tells his coworkers about this funny new show called The Office.

Last video game I played: If visual novels count, Umineko. I've been working my way through it slowly for about five and a half years and I'm finally closing in on the end. It's peak fiction and the greatest love story of the twentieth century. It's also funny I picked a game this insanely long for my first visual novel. Other than visual novels, I just finished Pokemon Legends: Arceus, after putting in 104 hours this year. Completing the Dex is my favourite part of any Pokemon game, so having it be more involved and include a big checklist made the game basically crack for me. I've also been casually playing some Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005) with my brother. Every time we play it, I'm always amazed by how good it is and how much content it has. I want to take command posts forever.

Last thing I googled: "Dandadan Aira". I just started the manga the other day and I like her best, so I wanted to double check her full name, I think? Other than that I'm mostly looking up when books are available at my local stores. I've been religiously checking when The Book that Broke the World will be available and I'm not even sure if I'm buying it.

Last thing I ate: A few snacks from my snack drawer. I also had a Quaker yogurt bar at work. I bought a big box of them last year, but I had to throw them out because of the Salmonella. (Chewed through a lot of them before that came out, though, including eating three on an airplane.)

Amount of sleep: Supposedly seven hours, since I went to bed right after finishing The Warm Hands of Ghosts last night. The only problem is that if I get to bed at a good time, I sleep fitfully, so I'm either sleeping poorly or sleeping well, but not getting anywhere near enough sleep.

Currently reading: I started Empire of Silence, the first book of The Sun Eater by Christopher Ruocchio, at work today. I've had the first three books sitting on my shelf for a year or two and I finally got around to starting it. (I'd resolved to do both this series and Kushiel's Legacy this year, after having both for so long, and I got that one done at the start.) I'm not very far in, but I enjoy the writing style a lot, even if a lot of the worldbuilding is obviously cribbed from Dune. (Whoa, look, mentats.) I've heard it picks up a lot in the second book, so I'm excited for what's in store for me.
