4. a story idea you haven’t written yet I have tons. Some fairytale-inspired; I'd like to do a selkie fic. I also have a sort of Rapunzel-esque idea with Arthur being the damsel in distress locked in a tower. Another with Morgana as a sort of Baba Yaga-esque character and Merlin as her raven who used to be a man she turned into a bird for being annoying. Arthur is her annoying brother on a quest who needs her help; Merlin goes with him, of course, and Arthur breaks the spell on him and is highly dismayed to discover the annoying talking bird is a super hot man.

11. a WIP you’d like to finish someday Book of Merthur is the one I'm focusing on right now, though I do also have the sequel to the vet fic partially written.

What are you most excited about/proud of for The Kal Project?

Welllll probably my attempt to make Kal a squadmate instead of just a romance option. Writing him and Shepard getting together is easy, showing him working/bonding/existing with the rest of the me2 squad is harder. Especially with the eclectic personalities on board. So I'm proud to say there's more of a focus on Kal's other relationships in the rewrite.

What I'm excited about... well I guess for other people to have as much fun reading it as I did writing it. Also, this is the first in depth fic I've done with Jenn and she's my most beloved blorbo so I'm exicted for others to appreciate her too. I'm just generally excited to share the love I have for JennKal and subsequently the mass effect universe!

Hi, Jenn. My debut came out a little while ago. Hooray! Lots of people I know said they were buying it or reading it! Yay! ... But a lot of them never actually said anything afterward. They didn't go "Hey, I really liked this" or anything. I know they don't HAVE to, but a lot of them just went dead silent on me. I didn't ASK what they thought, but I feel like... maybe everyone hated it? Do you have any advice for me? Just... let it go?

Congratulations on your debut!

I would imagine that most people who have said "oh I'm excited to read your book!" or "oh I'm ordering your book rn!" fall into one of two buckets:

1 -- They bought it, but they haven't read it. (That would probably be MY bucket, personally -- I buy books by my friends every week. I spend an absolutely ABSURD amount of $$ on my friends books! Do I have time to READ THEM? Absolutely not. I'm so sorry. BUT I DID MY PART PLEASE DON'T ASK FURTHER QUESTIONS!!! I AM PROUD OF YOU! I LOVE YOU! I AM BUSY! I'M SORRY!)

2 -- They DID read it, and they probably liked it, but they are socially awkward and/or they don't want to make you uncomfy. This is like how I feel when I see a celebrity. I know they are a celebrity. I know THEY know they are a celebrity. But I don't want to cause either one of us a moment of self-consciousness, so I pretend that they are NOT a celebrity and treat them exactly like I treat all strangers: I ignore them, or if I am helping at the bookstore, I treat them like a regular non-celeb customer. Now, maybe they would LIKE it if I said "omg I love your work!" -- maybe they would take that as a sincere compliment! But also, they hear the same stuff every day, they just want to shop, they deserve their privacy, my feelings are not their problem!

Now, I'm not saying YOU ARE A CELEBRITY AND YOUR FRIENDS ARE INTIMIDATED BY YOU -- but the reality is, if EVERY person who read your book came up to you and wanted to discuss it, praise it, complain about it, or whatever, that would get exhausting and annoying quickly. Perhaps sensing that, they are just being polite and not treating you any differently than they normally would.

The third option actually isn't a third option, because it just diverts into the two main options:

1b/2b -- They hated it. But that's kinda unlikely -- most people who are your friends probably share at least some of your taste in books, and they like YOU so they will be inclined to like it. Additionally, most people don't keep reading books that they don't vibe with or enjoy, so if they picked it up and got the sense that this in fact is NOT FOR THEM, they would just set it down... thus putting them back in Bucket #1, "didn't actually read."

And if they DID finish it and hated it, they are then in Bucket #2 -- they are too polite to say so to you, because they don't want to be a jerk to their friend, and nor would you WANT them to tell you!

In any event: reader response is not your business. So just assume that anyone who says "oh gosh I'm excited to read your book!" or whatever is being nice, thank them, and don't worry about it further. After all, when THEIR book comes out, you'll be excited to buy a copy to support them -- but you wouldn't want to feel obligated to give them a book report about it after! ;-)

summary: the one where ej and andy realise that there may be some romantic feelings between them that hadn't been there before, or had they? the new year test this revelation

EJ and Andy sat in a room in front of a camera as they prepared for the news show they signed up for, the east high morning news show.

"Welcome to the East High Morning Show, I'm Ej Caswell," he said as they both sat on the chairs

"And I'm Andy Kennedy and we're co-hosting the first ever East High Morning show," she introduced herself.

"Cause I'm the president of the AV club," EJ said with a grin.

"And I'm also the president of the AV club," she said with a laugh, the two smiling at each other.

Andy had been trying to convince Mr Mazzara to let them have a morning show for ages and now that there were more people in the AV club, it was allowed.

Now the two of them sat there, nobody knowing about their relationship as they co-hosted a show.

"And now for our first guest, you know her from the Rose Song which has been blowing up the East High Instagram," she said and EJ quickly cut in.

"Sorry, quick reminder, tickets for Beauty and the Beast go on sale next week," he added in.

"Thats right EJ, now, please welcome Nini Salazar-Roberts," Andy said and she walked in, the duo cheering.

After her song about being the Rose went viral, they were hoping to convince more people to come onto the morning show and to come see the theatre production.

"Thanks for having me," she said and EJ placed a finger on his ear like he was on a real morning show.

"This just in, Ninis song has over 2,500 views, making it the most viewed post in drama club history," EJ explained and Nini looked shocked.

"Nini, how does it feel to be you right now?" Andy asked and Nini said she felt good.

Nini had never had this level of popularity before and it felt weird, but also kind of nice

They continued the interview until the show ended, the three having to go to an impromptu meeting by Miss Jenn.

"Everyone, attention please. We are in such a good place and today our wonderful actor/designer Kourtney Greene is going to show you the completed costumes," she explained and everyone cheered.

Kourtney pulled the tarp off of the rack and everyone cheered as they saw their costumes.

But then she went to show individual costumes. She showed them the details of the dress and the design.

"EJ, I gave you some abs that would make Captain America proud," she said as she handed him his costume.

"I have abs, ask And-" then he realised what he was saying and froze, "-ask Ashlyn my cousin, who must have seen me at water polo practice,"

He looked so awkward and Andy just giggled, her and Ashlyn watching from the other side of the room.

He hoped that the comment wouldn't make people think that they had slept together because they hadn't.

They'd done other things, a few heated make out sessions with a shirt or two off - thus allowing her to prove that he had abs.

"Well, everyone has abs, these are Kourtney Originals," she said and he took it with a smile.

Clearly she had not heard the slip up that he had as nobody commented on the words.

"And every Gaston needs a Beast," she said before realising the mask was missing.

"I know where our beast mask is," Carlos said as he looked on his phone. He showed everyone a picture of the North High drama stage.

Everyone looked at it confused, not seeing it. "What are we looking at?" Andy questioned.

"Look at the trunk," he said as he zoomed in, but they still didn't get it, "Thats obviously Beast fur. It makes sense why they would want to take it,"

It wad a little bit blurry and some people would definitely not believe that it was the Beast mask but they had no other leads.

"We have to get even right," Big Red said after everyone agreed that it definitely was the Beast mask. 

They were all bickering amongst themselves, Andy not sure that North High had taken their beast mask.

"They posted something new, 'North High gonna steal your heart this spring' they must have stole it," Carlos said as he read it off his phone.

Maybe they were reading too much in between the lines or maybe they were just teasing them and wondering if they even knew.

"Stop. I want you to keep looking for that mask and let it go," Miss Jenn said, "Understood,"

They all nodded their heads, muttering that they understood as she left the room.

But as soon as she had left, they rushed over to North High as fast as they could.

By the time that they made it there, they were all ready for the sneak attack. They stood in the hallway, Carlos organising them.

"Based on their Instagram post, the mask has to be in the costume shop," he explained.

"Isn't this kind of trespassing?" Seb questioned, looking around suspiciously.

The group didn't say anything as they knew that it was kind of wrong to be stealing something back but they had stole it initially.

"There will be other people still in school, we'll blend in," Carlos said, trying to reassure everyone, "Though Ashlyn, you may have taken the camouflage thing too far,"

Everyone looked at Ashlyn as she wore a yellow hoodie that said 'North High Hornets'

"No, today, I am Diane. I play volleyball and I love North High," she explained to everyone.

Andy and EJ laughed about it, everyone talking amongst themselves and Carlos got frustrated.

"Focus! Who's gonna be the lookout?" He asked, looking around at them.

"Me and Andy could be lookout. I can't promise I won't go all Gina 1.0 and Andy can reign me back if I try to escape," Gina explained.

Andy smiled at her friend, placing a hand on her shoulder as a supportive mechanism.

"Okay, we've got this. Everyone ready?" Carlos asked and everyone nodded their heads with excitement.

"What team?" Ricky asked with a huge smile on his face, placing his hand in the middle of their circle.

"Wait, maybe we shouldn't yell," Carlos said but his voice was frowned out by everyone else placing their hands in the middle and yelling out 'wildcats'.

"Be careful," EJ whispered to Andy before he walked off with the others.

Sitting in the middle of Miss Jenn’s drama club room on the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series set last year, the walls were vibrating with the sound of “Now or Never” from High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

As the cast sang about giving their all one last time before the clock ran out, the song signaled what's to come as months later, Disney+ confirmed the hit series is coming to an end with season 4. 

Like the third High School Musical film the East High students are putting on, this season marks the end of an era. 

“In the streaming era, there's something real about the phrase ‘It's now or never,’” creator Tim Federle told PEOPLE during a set visit in December. “You never know if you're going to get another season. And so to have been lucky enough to have helped launch Disney+ alongside The Mandalorian and still be on the air after four seasons is a blessing alone.”

Not only did the show help launch Disney’s new streaming platform when it premiered in November 2019, but it quickly launched its cast into superstardom. 

For Federle, there was never a doubt in his mind they would achieve anything other than that. “What I promised Disney was that if they let me hire real theater kids, they wouldn't let me down,” he said getting a little choked up. “I'm so proud of them because when the world beats them up, they still show up for me and for each other. Life is short, but when you make a TV show, hopefully, it lasts forever.” 

Though the curtain is closing on the East High students, it’s clear the bond they forged over the past few years will stay intact. 

“It's a uniquely musical theater experience that no matter how short or long the time is, you become a family,” Joshua Bassett (Ricky) said. “I'm going to know these people for the rest of my life and some of them will probably be in my wedding.” 

Sofia Wylie (Gina) echoed that same sentiment, calling her costars “the best people I've ever met.”

"I have learned so much from everybody,” she added. “The joy that Dara [Reneé] brings every day, the professionalism that Julia [Lester] brings, the humor that Frankie [A. Rodriguez] has, the angel glow that Joe [Serafini] has, Saylor [Bell Curda] is my favorite human being. And of course, Josh [Bassett] brings such a wonderful leadership that I think really has affected the show in such a positive way every single day.” 

“It's really wonderful,” she continued. “I already feel nostalgic even though we haven't ended the show yet, because I know I will look back at this experience and always remember it to be one of the best times of my life.”

Julia Lester (Ashlyn) noted that the series has been “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” not only because of the show’s unique structure but because of the cast’s incredible chemistry. “We've all been best friends since literally day one,” she said.  

“I just feel like we're so lucky because we're all so different that we just work,” Dara Reneé (Kourtney) added. “This cast is just so powerful and so kind and so humble, and just everything that you would dream to work with. I just love how safe I feel about all these beautiful, kind people.” 

As for what they hope the show’s legacy will be, the cast was in total agreement that they hope fans remember the importance of love and acceptance. 

“I hope the show's legacy is what we have been saying over the last four years, which is 'born to be brave,'” Frankie A. Rodriguez (Carlos) said, referencing the season 1 song of the same name.

“Just putting yourself out there and just not really caring what other people think," he continued. "Finding your community of people that are going to just love and support you and give you nothing but encouragement.” 

Bassett added that being on the show has really “set the standard” for him and his costars as it marked many of their first starring roles. “Once you have an experience like this, you don't settle for anything else anywhere else,” he said.

“We're going to carry this with us in all of our careers. I hope it's not a unique environment. I hope we continue to bring that, but from what I've heard there, there's nothing quite like it.”

Ian was excited while messaging his long-distance lover they told them about how their day went at the facility and how they missed talking to you since it was only a certain time of day that they would be able to message you since your time zones are different. you have both been together for a very long time years if we are getting technical and those were the best years you both skype or called but they never once met in person for all those years together.

you were the CEO of a very know 5-star Hotel's around the world and you were currently in another location aiming to create a hotel there which you shared with them smiling. Ian was very proud of you and you both never once were upset when the other couldn't make the calls or even while on face time one or the other would doze off falling asleep hearing the voice of the other.

It was perfect and sometimes you both would talk about what would it be like to be in the arms of the other. Of course, you would giggle when they face time you to watch your favorite movie together and talk about it.

"I love you" Ian was the first to say it and You blushed deeply looking at Ian through the phone and giggling. "well what if I say I love you too" Ian would smile brightly "I would be very happy" that was the day you both confessed your love for each other.

ever since then, you both texted each other at any given time and sometimes at work too.

one day you decided you wanted to do a very nice surprise and you called your main company branch and asked them to book a one-way flight. you also contacted Jenn, Addison, and Magic who luckily for you had some type of social media page you contacted and told them some things about you and Ian and sent them secretly cute videos of them falling asleep while on call or they laughed or singing to you to which Addison melted.

Ian told their friends about you but never in detail, they kept their life pretty private. But the team helped you plan how you can surprise Ian Jenn and offered you to stay at her place until it was time.

"how long will you be staying?" Jenn asked smiling and Addison nods "well i purposely said I need someone to oversee this operation here as i will be opening another hotel in your area which would take a while since it would take three to four years to make meaning i can prolong my stay to spend time with Ian and hopefully you guys to"

Magic chuckles "of course and I'm sure Ian would love that too, i will give you an access ID to our facility and floor so it can be easy for you to enter."

It was Christmas Eve when everyone was working in the facility but Lucky For Addison Ben finished certain leaps and came back holding Addison close to which she let Ben know the details and they decided to use the chamber to hide in. but Ben needed to hide.

so he does smirking, and Magic had sent Ian to troubleshoot ziggy. you were amazed at the place but quickly ran into the chamber and stayed put waiting and smiling you felt your heart beat faster as you were finally going to see them in person.

Ian came back and Addison was there by the computer "Ian can you take over for me to talk to ben...I need a moment please" Ian felt bad and nodded "yes okay ill uh go for you stay strong Ben will come back in time" they said before walking off

the team slowly followed them and ben pops out of his hiding spot to see what would happen and of course holding Ian and Jenn your phone to record this perfect moment.

Ian walked in and his heart almost stopped looking at you "y-y/n you're... you're here is that" they laughed slightly nervous and excited "your really-" you cut them off by running towards them and hugging them tightly trying not to get too emotional at how happy they were to see you and you pulled away as they smile brightly at you and you both shared your first kiss and it was the best moment you could ever ask for.

"I wanted to give you my early Christmas gift" you giggle and Ian chuckles and looked down and back at you shyly "i love it y/n h-how long are you here for?"

"a pretty long time for now love and I want to spend every single moment with you" you kissed them once more and they respond to the kiss.

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

I'm actually quite proud of Something More, one of my Sandman fics from this year. I'm absolutely in love with my little dreamling and I think their interactions with the Endless are really fun to explore, and this is the one where I really felt them take on a life of their own.

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

Jiann. Hands down. Jenn and Ian are the queerplatonic pairing who got me back into writing fic on a semi-regular basis, their dynamic is so fun on-screen and I adore exploring them off-screen too <3

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

Oooh, tough one but aside from my original non-fandom characters I think I have to go with my Sandman OC (as featured in my answer for Q3). I didn't expect to have so much fun writing them nor did I expect them to take on a life of their own, I adore them.

Y'all I teared up a lot but no tears have been shed yet lol. That's really because it hasn't sunk in yet xD.

Also, that's a lie, I finished the episode hours ago lol. I have since looked at hsmtmts posts and tiktoks, read a fanfic, and rewatched several scenes (mainly in the finale) xd. I was too in shock but I need to start this lol

First of all, I just- that was the perfect finale. Plenty of the show (looking at you season 2 /lh), satisfying ends for the couples (barely on Jetney but you know we take what we can get lol), amazing music, and everyone's staying together :'). I am disappointed we didn't get Seb on stage, like acting lol, but I'm glad he was there for curtain call :'DDD 🥰. Even if him and Big Red had no reason this-show-wise to be up there XDD. CARLOS HAPPY AGAIN IS MY REWARD FOR THE FIRST SIX EPISODES!!!! XDD!! It keeps randomly hitting me that this is the Last Season, that although luckily we got happy Seblos at the end this is genuinely the last we're gonna see of them and I just- oh gosh that hurts 😭😭😭❤️. But again, their moment after the show (and the ones during curtain call 😭!!!) was SO CUTE AND AMAZING 😭😭😭❤️. Carlos slayed playing Ryan :'DD 🥰🥰🥰❤️. And he really is so funny x'DDD. It also makes me so happy that Gina talked about being co-choreographers with him :')) - something that started way back in season 2, but honestly season 1 unofficially <333. They've always had dance as a connection, and I'm just so happy they have that in each other :')). And I believe something similar to "we just kept dancing" was said at the Quinceñero, which :')))) 😭😭😭😭❤️🥰❤️❤️❤️. That kills me <3. Their friendship just means so much to me :')) :'D <333. Anyway :')). I love how he was kinda the one to set Miss Jenn and Benjamin (he deserves for me to call him by his first name at least once LOL xD) up xDD :'D <33. Like, he was the one who brought up the plane tickets and stuff :')). But seriously, it was SO GOOD, and it reminded me of the Beauty and The Beast announcement, as well as You Are The Music In Me from after Season 2 :'))). The music this episode was P H E N O M E N A L!!!!! It was all SO amazing and all so emotional too 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️. The cast are all such wonderful singers and the songs are all so well put together and beautifully written :')). I am so grateful for all of the amazing music of this show <3333. This episode was so amazing. It was, quite possibly, the perfect finale <333. Obviously, I have things I wish happened, in this episode and in the season and show as a whole. But it told the story. And it told it well :')). It gave these characters an immensely satisfying ending, and, more importantly in this case? A happy one :'). They deserved that <333. And we deserved to be shown that we can. Especially theatre kids <33 ❤️. And still, amongst all these emotions, they still managed to make this episode HILARIOUS :'DDD. Even after three months, it still feels unreal that I just made my musical debut. It has been such a rewarding experience, I've met some amazing people and had lots of fun on set. Hi sugar. Firstly, thank you so much for your kind words. You're so lovely. Secondly, I want to reassure you that I'm not that confident. I get nervous every time I share something. You can ask my girlfriend. I have a whole breakdown every time I post a fic about whether people will like it or if it's a bust. So, don't think you're alone in this. Thirdly, some of it just has to be fake it til you make it. People will either love your fics or not vibe with them, but you'll never know until you share your work. Be proud of yourself though! Be proud of your creativity and your skills! You are writing something only you can write! And that is precious and deserving and I bet you're a lot better than you give yourself credit for. And just like any skill, the more you do, the better at it you will get. So, keep writing!
