my thoughts on star trek: uhh. indoctrination? insubordination? what the fuck was it called...INSURRECTION
yeah that one.
MID.......this had the same problem generations had where it sort of felt like a very drawn out episode of the next generation, only this one didn't have the benefit of showing the tng set with a movie lens, which is half of what i find interesting about generations. it also doesn't help the "long tng episode" allegations when the plot of this movie is basically the plot of two s7 episodes, "brothers" and "journeys end," since the whole thing fringes on helping a colony stay where they are and avoiding disobeying the prime directive, but also there are some themes about time at play.
this movie also introduced a lot of things at the beginning that were ignored or dropped completely later, which is easier to get away with in the cold open of a show but not so much a movie when every second of screen time matters. like the new species joining the federation at the beginning was there mostly for laughs and to introduce the enterprise crew, silly me thought they might come into the plot again towards the end in a convenient sort of way but they never did.
same with troi and riker! and it annoyed me so much bc i clocked they were gonna get back together as soon as they were assigned to work on a mission, and again silly me thinking that throughout the movie they would slowly fall back in love with each other and it would tie into the events of the movie, but NOPE it all happens quickly and at the beginning and then is dropped. it only comes back when riker is like damn did i only like her again bc i felt young and worf is like no you've literally always loved her. which! could have been a really interesting concept if explored in detail, like instead of riker and troi being separated they are both down on the planet slowly falling back in love while their bodies get a bit younger, and they have to wonder if they really do love each other now or if it's just the planet, and then at the end decide to take the chance with each other anyways! wow that would have been a really cool b-plot but why would they do that when they could *checks notes* get riker to shave his beard i guess. WHATEVER!
i did get annoyed at the beginning when i saw that data was going evil sicko mode again because like we've DONE that, but luckily it ended up being something else and he's mostly irrelevant for the rest of the movie besides his small C plot. i wish they never introduced that damn emotion chip because it makes all of his stories kind of stupid. like they say in this one he doesn't have it and then his plot is about wanting to know what it's like to be a child, and he learns to play and have fun. which would have been compelling if he didn't have access to an emotion chip, which he does, so what's the point anymore? i know nemesis is going to be more data centric (and like i know okay. i know about it i'm not excited for it) and i can't wait for me to hate the execution
what else happened in the movie......i did like the subtle way they introduced what was happening to the planet, maybe it was obvious to others but personally i didn't catch it. like worf sleeping in just felt like a ha ha moment and riker having a mid-life crisis just sounds normal, but when you look back on those and other moments once you realize everyone has been getting a bit younger the whole movie, it makes sense. so i liked that, i also liked the concept of the planet in general, that they have the capability for great technology and choose not to use it and live a simpler life. i guess when you're effectively immortal it makes it an easier choice to make, but still.
the villains i didn't much care for, first of all their weird stretched skin that sometimes ruptured was just gross to look at, but also i just didn't find them very compelling. the federation admiral that was working with them was sort of interesting, i do appreciate when the grey areas of starfleet are highlighted, but it still wasn't super compelling.
overall, this movie definitely had some pacing issues and as mentioned just felt like a long tng episode that i basically had already seen before. some fun moments and interesting concepts but it so easily could have been made better with some tweaks. oh well!

I'm going to post the entire dispatch in hopes more people will read it. It's a stylized version of how US media would cover events in America if they were happening in a foreign country. Chilling.

Musk Junta Seizes Key Governmental Offices February 1, 2025 By William Boot
WASHINGTON, D.C. — What started Thursday as a political purge of the internal security services accelerated Friday into a full-blown coup, as elite technical units aligned with media oligarch Elon Musk moved to seize key systems at the national treasury, block outside access to federal personnel records, and take offline governmental communication networks.
With rapidity that has stunned even longtime political observers, forces loyal to Musk’s junta have established him as the all-but undisputed unelected head of government in just a matter of days, unwinding the longtime democracy’s constitutional system and its proud nearly 250-year-old tradition of the rule of law. Having secured themselves in key ministries and in a building adjacent to the presidential office complex, Musk’s forces have begun issuing directives to civil service workers and forcing the resignation of officials deemed insufficiently loyal, like the head of the country’s aviation authority.
Subscribe
The G-7 country’s newly installed president, a mid-level oligarch named Donald Trump, appeared amid Musk’s moves to be increasingly merely a figurehead head of state. Trump is a convicted felon with a long record of family corruption and returned in power in late January after a four-year interlude promising retribution and retaliation against foreign opponents and a domestic “Deep State.” He had been charged with attempting to overthrow the peaceful transition of power that had previously removed him from office in 2021, but loyalist elements in the judiciary successfully blocked his prosecution and incarceration, easing his return to power.
Over the last two weeks, loyalist presidential factions and Musk-backed teams have launched sweeping, illegal Stalin-esque purges of the national police forces and prosecutors, as well as offices known as inspectors-general, who are typically responsible for investigating government corruption. While official numbers of the unprecedented ousters were kept secret, rumors swirled in the capital that the scores of career officials affected by the initial purges could rise into the thousands as political commissars continued to assess the backgrounds of members of the police forces.
The mentally declining and aging head of state, who has long embraced conspiracist thinking, spent much of the week railing in bizarre public remarks against the country’s oppressed racial and ethnic minorities, whom he blamed without evidence for causing a deadly plane crash across the river from the presidential mansion. Unfounded racist attacks on those minorities have been a key foundation of Trump’s unpredicted rise to political power from a career as a real estate magnate and reality TV host and date back to his first announcement that he would seek the presidency in 2015, when he railed against “rapists” being sent into the country from its southern neighbor.
In one of his first moves upon returning to the presidency, he mobilized far-right paramilitary security forces to begin raids at churches, schools, and workplaces to identify and remove racial minorities, including those who had long lived in harmony with the country’s white Christian majority. He also immediately moved to release from prison some 1,500 supporters who had participated in his unsuccessful 2021 insurrection, including members of violent far-right militias who promptly upon release swore fealty to him in any future civil unrest. Elsewhere, even as he released violent criminals onto the streets, Trump by fiat pulled longstanding government security protection from former military and health officials he felt had betrayed him.
Underscoring his apparent disconnection from reality, reports surfaced that the president had ordered military forces to unleash an environmental catastrophe and flood regions of a separatist province known as California that is led by a high-profile political opponent. The order underscored how the military, which had resisted Trump’s unconstitutional power grabs in his first administration, was now led by a subservient defense minister, a favored TV personality with no experience in management who faced an embarrassing series of allegations about his drunken behavior in the workplace.
Foreign allies who had long aligned themselves with the United States on the international stage were unsettled by increasingly destabilizing nationalistic and imperialist rhetoric coming from the president’s social media accounts—largely posted to a network owned and run by Trump himself—and worried in private conversations in capital embassies that he would mobilize the compliant military to fulfill heretofore unimaginable territorial ambitions that included seizing the country’s northern neighbor, which shares the world’s longest undefended border, and potentially colonizing Panama and Greenland.
Both the country’s defense minister, who has previously said he does not believe women should be allowed to serve in combat roles, and Trump’s new interior minister, who appeared on national TV wearing the paramilitary uniform of the border security force central to Trump’s political rise, spent much of their first days echoing and amplifying the president’s hysteria about racial and ethnic minorities. They and other government officials also immediately canceled all official observances of religious and ethnic minority holidays and launched efforts to scrub official websites and prohibit educating workers or schoolchildren about those minorities’ long, proud history in the country. Overnight Friday, hours after journalists had gone home, the defense minister’s office announced it would bar establishment independent media outlets from working out of the country’s military headquarters and replace them with friendly right-wing media organs.

The administration’s propaganda minister also announced Friday, apparently with little preparation, that it would initiate an immediate, unexpected, and seemingly ill-considered trade war with the country’s two primary economic partners, a move that if implemented would upend the national economy, disrupt supply chains, and accelerate the return of an inflationary crisis that has roiled domestic politics over the last five years and had just seemed to be returning to normal. Ironically, it was that very inflationary crisis and Trump’s promises on the campaign trail to lower the price of eggs that paved the way for his unforeseen election victory in November.
The country’s other business oligarchs have watched Musk’s unexpected and rapid rise to power with trepidation, and leading media and technology companies who compete with Musk’s extensive business empire—like Meta, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, Apple, and OpenAI—have quickly lined up to negotiate and pay bribes to the president that would allow their companies to operate unimpeded; initial payment terms ranged from million-dollar gifts to the presidential inauguration to $15 million and $25 million payments, made by Disney and Meta, to fund the construction of a presidential shrine. The highest known payment was $40 million from Amazon, which was structured as a gift to the president’s wife in exchange for the media company having the opportunity to film a hagiographic biopic.
It was unclear, exactly, what deal terms any of those bribes and payments unlocked and when subsequent tribute payments would be expected, although on Saturday Trump moved to fire and neuter government watchdogs that had long bedeviled the country’s financial elite.
Throughout the week’s fast-moving seizure of power—one that seems increasingly irreversible by the hour—neither loyalist nor opposition parliamentary leaders raised meaningful objection to the new regime or the unraveling of the country’s constitutional system of checks and balances. A few members of the geriatric legislature body offered scattered social media posts condemning the move, but parliament — where both houses are controlled by so-called “MAGA” members handpicked for their loyalty to the president — went home early for the weekend even as Musk’s forces spread through the capital streets.
It was unclear what role, if any, Musk’s forces would allow parliament to have in the new governmental structure by the time it next returned to the national assembly known as Capitol Hill.

#interesting !#tbh it helps soften of my judgement of Ferdinand#because in game he only ever says that he needs to be better than Edelgard to be able to guide her#so I thought that was genuinely his /conscious/ reasoning that he needed to best her to simply be a good advisor#and that he didn't fully realise that his constant attempts to /prove/ that he was better didn't serve that goal#and were all just pride and arrogance#because he didn't need to write a manifesto for the whole Empire to know that he was better than the Emperor if he just meant to guide her#but if his goal was to ''reassure'' people that he could stop her if she became a tyrant that explains a lot#also his reasoning in CF and SS#I always thought his character in SS just wanted to cling to power#but now I'm thinking it's more that in SS he decides to do exactly as his father had done before him to stop the Emperor's tyranny#through force while in CF he simply decided to stop Edelgard by being her advisor#but in both cases he opposes her ideals#though he does agree with some of her principles in CF#looks like his elitist mindset isn't the only thing he hasn't yet realised may have been born from his father's lies#fire emblem three houses#ferdinand von aegir (via @laulink)
I have a hc that edelgard was fully prepared to (at best) dislike her fellow adrestian nobility, especially since they were all the children of the men who launched a coup against her father. I think in most cases edelgard would've grown up knowing her fellow BE nobles personally bc they would've been at court in enbarr- but the coup prevented that from happening and no one was going to send their heir to enbarr to mingle with the imperial princess if it meant giving duke von aegir a potential political hostage. I also think the reason ferdinand speaks to edelgard like he does in their first few supports is that they were introduced to each other in the palace at enbarr. you know. the place where his father has immense oversight and power over the imperial family? im thinking some of that leaked into ferdinands view of edelgard and set the tone for their interactions for the first few months at garreg mach. reeeally wish we could've gotten some depth on that.
I definitely agree with all of that! I think a lot of the underlying tension between Edelgard and the Black Eagles at the start of the game comes from the fact that they don't know or really trust each other.
Even if the nobles had been sending their kids to Enbarr (and that's a good point about how they might not have felt safe doing that!), Edelgard spent several years either missing or in the dungeon, and I highly doubt she jumped straight into society after the dungeon part. She was probably kept quite isolated where she could be carefully watched.
I really do think that Edelgard was blindsided by her classmates. Most of them are the children of the exact nobles she wants to bring down! How could she feel anything but loathing for them? It must have been such a shock to realize that she was actually developing real friendships there.
I do agree that Ferdinand probably picked up some of his attitude towards Edelgard from his father, but I think there's another dimension there as well. Ferdinand earnestly believes that it will be his job as prime minister to stand up to the Emperor if she makes poor decisions. That if she becomes a tyrant, it will fall to him to stop her.
That seems like a somewhat dramatic position to take, until you realize that the Insurrection of the Seven would have been framed for Ferdinand and the general public as exactly that: the nobles banding together to put a stop to Ionius' tyrannical rule.
Ferdinand grew up being told not only that his father is the true power running the Empire, but that his father was just and noble for seizing that power. In that light, his attempts to prove his superiority over Edelgard weren't just arrogance, but a warning: just in case you feel like following in your dad's footsteps, I plan to do the same. I'll prove my superiority over you just so that the rest of the world understands that I can stop you.
The fact that this attitude came out as a rather childish competition says more about Ferdinand's personality than anything, I think. He was set up to see Edelgard as an enemy but the best he could muster was "my horse is prettier than yours!"

From Professor Christopher Robichaud, Senior Lecturer in Ethics and Public Policy, Harvard:
“I'll say this, and then I likely won't be saying much more on here for quite some time, to the relief of some, I'm sure. But my farewell warning is this.
Everyone in the days and weeks ahead will use this loss as an opportunity to seek validation for their own hobby horse complaint. Harris lost because she campaigned with Liz Cheney. Harris lost because she didn't embrace Gaza. Harris lost because she didn't choose Shapiro. Harris lost because she wasn't progressive enough (possibly my favorite one).
Take a good, hard look at the map, my friends. Trump has won the popular vote. Trump ran the table. Explaining that with your hobby horse issue isn't going to cut it, tempting and consoling as it may be. The problem isn't the electoral college. The problem isn't that we didn't have a full primary. The problem isn't Harris. The problem isn't that Dems didn't have the right message. The problem isn't even inflation or the border.
The problem is so much worse than any of those things. Those are all technical problems, with straightforward expertise fixes. If only it were so! No, our problem is not technical. It's very much adaptive. A party that embraced the Big Lie, supported an insurrection, and has been selling conspiracy-addled madness for years, [which] was widely and enthusiastically embraced. Voter turnout was profound! People didn't sit this out.
Simply put, the problem--as some of you have rightly posted--is cultural. America, culturally, has completely abandoned a politics of decency and respect and has embraced instead a politics of resentment, revenge, false nostalgia, and bullying. And if you look at the demographics, you also won't be able to comfort yourself that it's just a white thing, or a working class thing, or an education thing. It's multi-class, multi-gender, multi-educational, and multi-racial. That's what winning the popular vote means. That's what running the table amounts to.
A culture that has descended to this level of debasement is not easily fixed. In fact it may not ever be fixed. The timeline for changing something like this is decades--at best--not two-to-four year election cycles. You can extend that in this case, because with the GOP likely controlling all branches of federal government and the courts, they will ensure that mechanisms are in place to keep them in power long after their popularity has waned. You can count on that.
The GOP evolved into a party of rage, lies, and revenge--and it correctly diagnosed that there was and is a large appetite for that. That's what the country wants. At least enough of the country wants it to ensure broad appeal and widespread electoral success. The old GOP will never return, and the Dems have nothing to say to American culture at the moment. Nothing. They've been speaking to a country that's gone, like dust in the wind.
And that's my final thought, which my posts last night alluded to. The America I knew and loved is gone. This new America--nah, I won't even bother. I will say that cultural change is less likely to occur in politics or in the academy. You're not going to get people to see how vulgar they've become through a clever argument or a nice campaign speech, that's for sure.
This would be time for the arts, broadly understood, to step in. The arts can change hearts and minds. Too bad the arts have been systematically dismantled in education in this country, and on the other end, the tech industry's assault on the arts through AI is sure to hollow out any good-faith efforts that might emerge.
And for the rest of the world, America's rightward lurch is, I'm afraid, bad news for you too. I know you know this. Because it's not isolated, is it? It's just at the moment the most prominent example of a burgeoning trend. And this will embolden others in other countries, to be sure. We need not speculate what happens when countries become mired in lies, embrace resentment, and savor bullying. We know exactly what happens. Bloody conflict and global destabilization.
The first quarter of the 21st century will, therefore, in hindsight, be viewed as the seed-planting stage for the absolute shit show that's about to unfold globally over the next two and a half decades. Count on it.
Adopt whatever coping and endurance strategies you have available. You're going to need it.
I think that's all I've left to say.”
The least evolved. The most paternalistic.
The bully. The liar. The most resentful.
This is the reality we are in. FOX and Republicans have been repeating the script for decades.
The Dark Ages are conservative aspirations.
The abdication of values/principles is complete.
'Good faith' no longer exists on the Right. The more reprehensible the action/person, the bigger the addiction. Trump proves this.
Anti-paternalism, anti-fascism and anti-bullying are my paths forward. Join me.

I'm starting to get so tired of seeing posts that are like "Well actually, that latest Trump executive order is not a real law, infact it's downright illegal so don't despair". Like brother, he launched an actual literal insurrection and got away with it, who cares if something else he does I also illegal? Who cares if his EOs are not laws when they are being enforced as if they are?! Sure his "ban all DEI" orders are illegal, that didn't stop all the corporations from complying with his orders. Who cares that DOGE is not a federal agency and doesn't have any legal power, they are acting like they have absolute power and no one is stopping them. I need liberals to finally wake up and realize that laws only exist if someone is enforcing them. You government, the entity that's meant to enforce those laws, is full of bloodthirsty fascists who are perfectly happy with everything that's going on. You are not "becoming a dictatorship", you've been living in one for the last decade. They just finally finished consolidating their power and stopped pretending.

The evolution of Worf's Sash
Worf's Baldric has changed a few times over the course of the series he's been on. Here's a quick overview
Season 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just straight off of TOS, Soft, cozy, pageanty. Don't know what the symbol might be but Kang and Kor wore the same symbol.
Tumblr media
(seems sparklier) It doesn't denote their house, so who knows.
Worf's sash remains unchanged for the entirety of the first season.
Season 2 brings Worf's iconic baldric:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's made out of bike chains.
sometimes it goes off center and you can see how it's attached:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the next major change comes in Generations
Tumblr media
The Symbols on it have changed, I'm guessing so it pops more on screen. The bottom one is the Crest of the House of Mogh. He'll carry it over to DS9:
Tumblr media
although I am noticing it is now upside down. but that is how it stays.
It looks like a bug. As it is set this way by the time First Contact rolls around it is also facing the same way
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole saga of the second and final of the House of Mogh and Worf joining the House of Martok means the crest is replaced with one ripped from his sleeve.
Tumblr media
And while Insurrection and Nemesis barely acknowledge and actively fight Worf's time on DS9 he still has his Martok family crest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this would be the end, normally, but Star Trek Picard gave us this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
New baldric, probably less heavy. The Crests have changed, somewhat. The Martok family crest's arrow is now much bigger than the claw, so something might have changed in the family? and the top symbol is also differently stylized.
Worf's primary sash is unique throughout Star Trek, we've never seen any other Klingon wear the bicycle chain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this seems to be the common sash in the KDF.
Finally, a couple of ceremonial sashes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What's this one on his Ceremonial/Dress sash? maybe a fancy version of the family crest? or both symbols together?
Tumblr media
And then sad Worf sash from All Good Things....
Thank you for reading thru Sash Talk.

what's been particularly vile to me is this group of white online leftists who insist that anyone who cares about more than this one issue for the election is a bad person, like, as if us black and brown people are making up reasons to be afraid and not.....believing the gop when they say they are coming for us. believing trump who has said previously that he does not bluff, that he will do the things he's said he will do (i hate what social media has gone to the word gaslighting but it feels like gaslighting. we lived through four years of trump. we saw the damage. stop treating us like we're being dramatic). it must be great to not have to worry about that i guess? "life won't change under trump" is such a telling admission because maybe theirs won't but mine will. and so many others' will.
and it is often again these (white) online leftists that love to call anyone who disagrees with them a white liberal (derogatory) because they know it would be racist (bad) to be this shitty and condescending to poc but they don't want to actually listen to anything black and brown voters are saying. it's easier to just call us white liberals and throw our opinions out, to ignore the work of black people for decades to gain the right to vote, to disregard the weight of telling them to not do that. it's genuinely appalling. they care so much about racism until it's time to engage with poc who have different opinions than their online echo chambers, then we're just stupid liberals with terrible opinions like..... wanting to live. not wanting four more years of trump. so sorry for that.
sorry for this vent in your inbox, i'm just so fucking tired of white people trying to rewrite history as if trump wasn't that bad. he was for my family and countless others and i am terrified for what's to come if he wins.
The thing about (the often-white) Online Leftists is that they have become just as much as a radicalized death cult as the diehard Trumpists. If you don't want to die for The Revolution and/or sacrifice your life, friends, family, the rest of the country, etc., then you're Insufficiently Pure and must be Purged. (Which I think is just complete BS, as none of them could actually handle sacrificing anything, but it's increasingly the only kind of performative rhetoric that is acceptable in leftist-identified discourse spaces.) This is functionally identical to "if you aren't willing to lay down your life for our Lord and Savior Donald Trump and the Great White Christian Nationalist Dictatorship, you're a liberal cuck," but with the names and justification changed. It doesn't change the underlying radicalization, nihilism, and insanity of the premise.
Another thing the Trumpists and the Online Leftists have in common is that they are busily rewriting just how bad Trump was in order to serve their Ideology. Ever since January 6, 2021, the Republicans have thrown everything they have at revising and whitewashing any suggestion that it was an "insurrection," and the Online Leftists have done the same, in an attempt to "prove" their insane point that Trump "would be better" than Biden. This is embodied in the recent ultimate-brainworm-nonsense maximalist-online take that "Biden has to lose so the rest of the world will see that the US rejects genocide!!!" That's right, the message that the rest of the world would take from Biden losing to Trump is that the US rejects genocide. Never mind if Trump literally wants to commit all the genocide possible and to install himself as a fascist theocratic dictator. In the deeply twisted minds of the Online Leftists, this is the only possible interpretation of Biden's loss, so they'll push for it as hard as they can! The Trumpists and the Online Leftists, at this point, are working pretty much in concert to damage Biden for similar insane reasons and get Trump elected. Etc etc., one Nazi and ten people at the same table is eleven Nazis.
Like. Sure. Four years ago, when Trump was president and people were dying by the thousands because he didn't want to wear a mask because it smeared his bronzer, just to name literally one of the terrible things he did every single day (and not even mentioning how much worse a second term would be) we were absolutely better off. Super-duper great. (Sarcasm.) Either that or "there is suffering and evil in the world and the only solution is to drastically increase the suffering and evil for everyone and to destroy what progress we have managed to make because It Does Not Fix Everything Now" is an absolute moral imperative, and either way, yeah. I'm calling bullshit.

I'm going fucking insane over Jayce & Viktor so I offer you an unhinged ramble about the butterfly and the narrative structure of their relationship. I apologize in advanced for being batshit.
So Viktor and Jayce's relationship is a chiastic structure. A chiasm is where the beginning and end of a story point to the middle of it, creating an X or ∞ (a chiasma is also a structure in genetics, if you've seen the word in science classes before.)
This means that the rise and fall of the narrative mirror each other (parallelism). There are many parallels in Jayce and Viktor's relationship, with one of the most overt being "Am I interrupting?" and one of the more covert examples being Viktor's belief in Jayce's dream to use science to bring access to the Arcane ("Our hextech dream") and Jayce's belief in Viktor leading them to shattering access to the Arcane web ("We finish this together.")
At the center of this narrative is death and resurrection (metamorphosis). The first season ends with Viktor's death, and the second begins with his resurrection, the literal center of the story.
Now, Arcane is about love in its entirety. All-encompassing, earth-shattering, life-giving, life-taking love. Love, which inspires our greatest evil and our greatest good, is something that changes us. Love which can lead to grief, can make us into our worst selves (consider the warmongering), but it can also make us into our kindest selves (consider Isha.)
Jayce's love for Viktor saves him but it also changes him. Twice. When Viktor dies, Jayce is unwilling to let him go and uses the hexcore to resurrect him. This transforms Viktor into the Herald.
When Jayce is forced into the alternate reality where he experiences the decline of his body and the struggle to climb from the depths to the surface (a narrative representation of empathy), he finally understands Viktor. This transformative understanding primes him to fulfill his promises to Viktor, past and future - to destroy the hexcore and stop the Arcane from bleeding out all over reality; to save Viktor.
The butterfly is a well-know symbol of transformation, so it's no accident that it follows Viktor and Jayce from the very beginning to the very end. But it isn't just a visual representation of love and its power, but a reminder of the very structure of their narrative.
Because Arcane is also about perspective - narratives. Silco and Vander show us how our shared experiences can yield different motivations, as do Jinx and Vi, and Ambessa and Mel too. Every single one of these characters is motivated by love, but their methods are opposing forces.
We see, time and time again, that those with the most power are those who control the narrative (power in Zaun creating a righteous rebellion vs power in Piltover creating a narrative of dangerous insurrection), and that power lacking empathy is corruptive (Cait and Ambessa forsaking empathy in favor of violently seizing control vs. Vi and Mel embodying empathy to save that which they love.)
At the center of all of this conflict is partnership. Failed partnerships, like Vander & Silco and redeeming partnerships, like Ekko & Jinx. Viktor and Jayce share a dream, and that dreams bleeds the Arcane, corrupting reality. But when they forsake their partnership (Jayce joining the council and Viktor leaving the lab), it nearly destroys everything.
When they lean into their affection, when they utilize empathy, when they let their love be transformative, they heal the Arcane and reality. In their final moments, they mirror each other, and as they're scattered into all timelines and all possibilities by the explosion they are transformed into something cosmic together. Their story ends as it began.
We know from the lifecycle of the butterfly, by the structure of the narrative, that beginnings and endings are not so finite. Love is both a constant ("in all timelines, in all possibilities") and an anomaly ("That which inspires us to our greatest good, is also the cause of our greatest evil".) It is the infinite, and the infinite is not a line with a beginning and an end, but a tangle of time and potential.
The chiastic structure of Jayce and Viktor's relationship is one that shows that love itself is the most powerful and transformative force in nature. It demonstrates that love doesn't just have the potential create or destroy but to do both at the same time; that reality isn't binary, but it is symmetrical. A butterfly was always a caterpillar and a caterpillar was always a butterfly; it experiences both, not one or the other (there's even a moment where it's neither and both all at once!)
Love is imperfect. People are imperfect. When Jayce is transformed in the depths of Zaun, he finally understands this. He carries this revelation to the height of Piltover where he finds Viktor waiting for him.
"There is no prize to perfection, only an end to pursuit."
If love were perfect it would stagnate, dreamless. Recognizing its power is seeing it for all its good and evil, and choosing it all the same.
"You were never broken, Viktor. There's beauty in imperfections. They made you who you are. An inseparable piece of everything I admired about you."
Viktor's transformation isn't from a broken man into the Herald, it's from a man believing himself unworthy of love to one knowing he is loved unconditionally. If love were perfect it would require perfection of us. But it isn't and it doesn't. Only Jayce can show Viktor this, because Jayce loves Viktor and Viktor loves Jayce.
"I thought I wanted to give magic to the world, but all I want is my partner back."
Think about Singed telling Viktor that "Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress."
And Viktor responding, "Jayce will understand."
He did understand eventually, only he sacrifices progress and legacy for love and transformation. Love is not the opposite of progress, perfection is the opposite of progress. In a perfect world, there is no need to dream together. Jayce understands this. He shows Viktor this. And together they change.
I've always been bad at concluding paragraphs, but I hope my rambling has made sense up to the point. TLDR; the butterfly is a visual representation of Jayce and Viktor's narrative as one of love and transformation.

Is Erwin Leftist or Fascist?
I'm basically expanding on what I've already posted on twitter about this.
The fandom seems to be pretty split on whether Erwin would be a Jaegerist or not—I've even seen fans going so far as to say he'd be a Trump supporter in the modern day. These could just be trolls or ignorant teenagers (both?) spewing this bs, but let's be clear,
Overthrowing the government does not indicate leftist or right-wing policy.
One of the most common rebuttals I see to the argument that Erwin is fascist is: "But he overthrew the government!" My guess is they think of revolutions by the people, such as the French and Russian ones, which were progressive, left-wing. But fascists do hostile takeovers too, such as the Blackshirts in Italy, and the January 6th Insurrection (the latter being a failed attempt at one).
Instead of using Erwin's staged coup as evidence that he is leftist, let's look into the reasons why he's Not Fascist.
He values intellectualism. We see in the text that Erwin supports and sees the value in Hange's titan research, and he believes the people deserve to know the truth, ie freedom of press—he was kept in the dark about the truth of their world, and he spent his whole life seeking the truth so that it could be shared with everyone. Fascists don't want thinkers, they want obedience.
Erwin allows those below his station to speak and think freely. We see how Levi, his subordinate, speaks to him informally and to other high-ranking military officials right in front of Erwin, but Erwin doesn't reprimand him or even punish him for his transgressions, because he respects him (an uneducated riffraff from the underground) as an equal. He allows 15 year old fresh out of the Cadet Corps Armin to speak up about his hunches, make suggestions, and he even let Armin give more experienced Scouts orders during their most pivotal battle in the history of the Survey Corps. He encourages his Scouts to question what they're fighting for and who their true enemies are rather than flat-out telling them. Unlike Fascists, he doesn't seem to enforce social hierarchy or genetic superiority of any kind.
He doesn't demonize The Other or motivate his soldiers with fear. He's doesn't rally his soldiers by proclaiming that humans are superior to titans and that they must crush them to assert humanity's dominance and superiority—he doesn't possess a hatred for titans like Eren does. He sees them more as obstacles to finding the truth. A core belief to fascists is proving that they are the chosen ones who will beat down the inhuman degenerates beneath them. He shows no sense of innate superiority.
We can't say for sure if he would be a Jaegerist because he died before all of that, but it is extremely unlikely given his aforementioned anti-fascist qualities. Why would he ever fall for Eren and Zeke's plot? Erwin is certainly smarter than Eren, but Zeke is a competent leader and strategist himself. However, what Zeke lacks that Erwin didn't is Hope. Erwin didn't give up on humanity like Zeke did, instead he valued and sought after knowledge. He saw failures and tragedies as learning opportunities and steps to a better outcome. Suffice it to say, he's not hateful or nihilistic enough to be on either of the Jaeger brothers' side, he'd think of a better solution than revenge or no babies.
So we can deduce that he is not a Fascist.
But is he a Leftist?
Back to the coup de'tat, Erwin staged it not to subjugate civilians, execute his opposers and instate military rule (what fascists do), but to live on to find the truth. That was it. Being a Scout granted him the freedom to venture outside of the walls and to learn more about their world and about the titans. If the Survey Corps dissolved and he got hanged, then the truth would possibly never come to light. The previous government would execute people for trying to leave and seek the truth. Erwin elevating Historia as the rightful monarch and, as a result, the people learning that the former monarch was a fake and that they have been lied to was just a nice bonus. Not why he did it.
There's little evidence for his personal political beliefs, as much of his character arc revolves around him Getting Closer To The Truth. If he were a leftist, he would show support for the common man's struggle and a disdain for the ruling class (like woke class-conscious king Levi). If his coup were politically motivated (in a progressive way), he would have started a revolution to free the people from the king's tyranny, he might have even called for the eradication of the crown altogether and touted democracy and the redistribution of wealth. Instead, he showed uncertainty and remorse for his coup, not confidence that he'd done the right thing for humanity's sake.
Again, Erwin was only saving his own skin so that he could find out what was in Eren's basement. He didn't feel strongly about dismantling the system and creating a more equitable government, which would be leftist. Rather, he feels more comfortable with upholding the status quo while also maintaining individual liberty.
Ergo, based on canon events, I don't think Erwin is a leftist or a fascist, I think he's a liberal.

"Putting your hand over your heart isn't a part of a Nazi salute!"
Not the original salute no, but it is part of the salute being used by Neo Nazis. So here's a link to a video comparing them, showing his gesture was identical to a Neo Nazi salute.
https://www.reddit.com/r/france/s/2bdn5cuvf6
"Even the ADL said it wasn't a Nazi salute!"
The ADL can be wrong just like any other group of people can. You people hate their stance on hate speech, so why are you magically in agreement with them just because they support your worldview?
"It was so bad that it couldn't have been a real salute, Hitler would have killed him for mocking him!"
Bad salutes are still salutes, just as bad insurrections are still insurrections.
"He was symbolically throwing his heart to the crowd!"
Here he is doing it a second time while facing away from the crowd.
Tumblr media
"He said his heart went out to the crowd!"
Yeah so he could have some deniability for idiots like you to cling to and defend him with.
"Kalama did the same gesture!"
She waved and pointed. You're just blind. There's something wrong with you if you can't distinguish a wave from an actual Nazi salute. Here's them being conpared side by side.
https://x.com/tify330/status/1881512417387040998
The sad part Is, if you saw this back in 2012, your immediate thought would have been "Oh my god Elon Musk did a nazi salute!", but Trump has so successfully brainwashed you, conditioned you, and groomed you, that his richest and most vocal supporter can preform a blatant Nazi salute, and you'll deny the obvious evidence before you to defend him, ignoring everything before your eyes and ears, because you've been made incapable of acknowledging the evilness, or the nature, of your cult.
It should have been obvious when he showed up to the Madison Square Garden rally in a custom black MAGA hat that used a typeface that was associated with the Hitler and the Nazis, the font the Nazis regularly used as a sign of nationalism that Hitler chose as the as the font for the cover of his autobiography.
https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/elon-musks-maga-cap-text-has-eerie-resemblance-with-hitlers-nazi-font-6903216/amp/1](https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/elon-musks-maga-cap-text-has-eerie-resemblance-with-hitlers-nazi-font-6903216/amp/1
You guys are REALLY bad at taking hints due to your programing.
"Trump, who is nothing like a nazi and never talks about nazis or white supremacists except to disavow them, brainwashed you into thinking Elon Musk isn't a nazi" sure is an interesting take.
Anyway you're putting a lot of words into my mouth and the ones you're quoting that are actually mine explain pretty well why what Elon did isn't a nazi salute, so I'm not going point by point and addressing your nonsense (especially the "nazi font" shit. Jesus do you even hear yourself?)
What I am going to address?
"Here he is doing it a second time while facing away from the crowd"
There were people behind the stage behind him. I don't know if you can see them during Elon's full speech but here's the same setup from when Trump was at the arena
Tumblr media
You can clearly see the white star bunting that's behind Elon in the clips of him doing the "salute". The stage is in the center of the arena with people all around.
I'll also explain why I trust the ADL here, again, because apparently you either didn't see it or, more likely, your leftist brain selectively edits everything that doesn't conform to your warped world view.
The ADL is a partisan left wing group that constantly calls conservatives, but especially Trump and his allies, nazis, racists, white supremacists, anti-Semites, and every other ist and phobe under the sun. They rarely let a chance to lie about the right go by. The fact that a group like that is saying "that wasn't a nazi salute" means a lot, because they're going against the talking points of their own ideology in favor of a person they hate. When a group, even a partisan hack group like the ADL, goes against their interests and the interests of their allies in favor of a person or a group they normally can't stand, that gives their words a lot of extra weight.
She waved and pointed. You're just blind. There's something wrong with you if you can't distinguish a wave from an actual Nazi salute.
Yes. That's the point. She waved and pointed. Elon symbolically "threw his heart" to the crowd. Neither were nazi salutes. Both could made to look like one out of context. The media only cared about doing it with Elon.
I don't expect any of this to get through to you, because you still think J6 was an iNsUrReCtIoN. But maybe one day, after you grow out of this weird leftist phase, you'll look back and remember this and feel as silly as you should.

Rapid Fire Headcanons for Justice Lord J'onn x black!reader:
Tumblr media
Author's Note:
Yes, I know I've been gone for 10,000 years but I had some downtime while in grad school and working so I'm writing what I want.
Was talking about one of my favorite versions of my fave superhero with my friend @c-nstantine and this is what we came up with.
Warning: NSFW, dub con, Lord Martian Manhunter being a genuine menace. Nobody under 18 allowed. 🔞
Lord J'onn is a simple man
He sees insurrection, he puts it down before Lord Superman even sees it
America was always an odd country to him anyway, bolstering itself as the land of the free while being built on the opposite
Then there you were, with your box braids, as J'onn heard Green Lantern call them once, yelling to a group of angsty college students through a bullhorn
You were a public organizer and professor at a local university, dragging the Justice Lords over their latest set of media suppression policies
The sight of your lips cursing at him and his friends made his cock twitch
So, the Martian has you brought in on inflated charges (very easy with the Bat's help)
And he decides to keep you
You are given strict rules
You were not allowed to make a phone call to any family or friends unless on a state-sponsored phone
You cannot wear heavy clothing
And you were to dine with Lord J'onn every night
Even though he was one of seven dictators, he was cordial
Then came that faithful night when you got up to use the bathroom
Following the sound of screams - what sounded like a woman in pain, you made it to J'onn's private quarters and peeked through the cracked door
There the Martian was, mounting a human woman like a bull as Lord Wonder Woman cheered him on held her down
You covered your mouth as J'onn slapped the woman's ass, calling her all kinds of degrading names
Whore
Bitch
Slut
Cumhole
Rushing back to your room, you may or may not have touched yourself that night, imaging you were her
The next morning, Lord J'onn asks you to come to breakfast
You join him, and Lord Wonder Woman is there
Lord J'onn confronts you about watching his and Diana's nightly activities
However, he makes you an offer
"(Y/N), aren't you tired of all this...caring? Everyone wants to leech off your hard work and your compassion but when do they ever pour into you? People laughed at you when you warned them against Lex Luthor becoming president, then he did. People sneered at you when you warned them that my friends and I were coming, and then we did. Yet here you are - fighting to keep the same people who could not handle their privileges from losing what little remains. You could let go of all that nonsense...and let Diana and I take care of you instead. You don't need "freedom." What you need is to be mine. I'll not be denied, (Y/N)."
"...Go fuck yourself, Martian."
Lord J'onn doesn't give up easily
He orders you to come to his room
A new woman is tied up, naked and leaned over the bedside, her ankles and arms restrained
But she had the brightest, mind-controlled smile
"Oh hi there! Are you here to join us?"
As J'onn uses his telekinesis to hold you still while he makes you watch as he fucks her ass and pussy (at the same time), you quickly find out what happens when you say no to him
And it's a different woman each night
So, you volunteer to take their place
Lord J'onn mounts you like a bull
He ties you down
Pulls up your skirt to your waist
You can feel his excited breath as he drives his cocks inside you
"Human women like you shouldn't be controlling armies. You shouldn't be - oooh, slumming it with the proletariat. You should lay on your stomach - augh, good girl, just like this."
Despite how good laying with him was, you still rebel against him in small ways like not showing up to breakfast on time or not wearing what he tells you to
Lord Batman requests and meeting with you at his batcave, and despite thinking he's on Lord J'onn's side, you still welcome a dash of freedom
"You are in terrible danger," Lord Batman says, not even looking at you as he types away on his batcomputer
"Damn, at least say Hello first?"
"I'm serious," the Bat says, turning to you, "You are in danger and I am warning you."
He asks you to walk through the Wayne Mansion Gardens and y'all have words
"...So the Billionaire Playboy is just a cover?"
"A necessary one, which I expect you to keep secret."
"I will."
"Good."
"So why am I "in danger" then? If J'onn wanted to kill me, he would've done it by now."
"Because you have attracted the attention of a person who is almost as strong as Superman and has a laundry list of other abilities - as I'm sure you've...experienced. Did he wear a condom last time?"
Your eyes widen as you look at Batman
"Okay then, so he's trying with you," the Dark Knight muses very matter-of-factly.
"Trying?"
"You don't understand how much danger you are in. Name the last time a dictator hand-picks a woman and the contacts his co-worker to help set up false charges."
"Wait? You helped him set up those charges against me? Why?"
"Because I had no choice. And neither do you. Whatever rules you thought apply, forget them. You are in the belly of the beast now. J'onn didn't just choose you because you rebel against us. That's part of it, but not all of it. He wants a mate, and he's trying to get you pregnant."
You stand there, looking at Batman, stunned
Lord Batman's gloved hand comes from under his cape, holding a pack of non-descript pills
"What's this?" You ask, taking them from him
"Birth control medication, designed specifically for...enhanced individuals. If I were you, I would take one of these every morning. Also, this conversation never happened."
That night, you get back to the watchtower
J'onn is in your room, waiting for you
"You're late," J'onn said, clearly unhappy
"...I went out to go see a movie."
"If only you were a good liar," J'onn said, standing up and towering over you, "Where were you?"
"...Hanging out with Lord Batman."
"What did he tell you?"
"Just gave me some additional security clearance. Since we've been getting along, he says I should be treated like any other employee."
"And now you lie to me again. What did he give you?"
Before you could lie again, J'onn touches your cheek and you feel a sharp pain on your head as he goes through your memories like a music playlist
"Birth control," J'onn hisses, "Why can't he mind his own damned business?"
"At least he told me the truth! You were trying to get me pregnant."
You push J'onn, and the mountain of a Martian doesn't even move an inch
"You abuse your power. You use it to control women. And you get off on it. And I'm just supposed to be your good little breeding bitch, is that it? For what? To make you feel better about being the last Martian? Or to produce more little Martian babies? At least tell me why you've taken my life from me!"
J'onn's expression was livid
Grabbing you by your arm, he dragged you to your bed, ignoring your shouts to let you go
"I admit, your stubbornness is cute. But since you like to be difficult," Lord J'onn hissed and he undoes his pants, "We are going to establish who is in charge right now. I shall give you a hint, my love. It isn't you. Now take off your clothes."
You tried to ignore his moans as he bottomed out inside of you again
And again
And again
Until he got tired
You didn't want to admit that the way he kissed your neck or the way his dick felt inside you when it pulsed didn't feel so bad
Not bad at all, really
And that wasn't the only time the alien had his way with you
J'onn regularly made you take more pregnancy tests until he got a positive result
When you did, he was overjoyed
Your life went from lectures and rallies to nursery prep and prenatal vitamins
Diana happily arranged a wedding for you both, which the other Lords would attend with their spouses, but it was just formality
You were already marked as his
The doctor J'onn chose, an educated man by the name of Dr. Michael Holt, told J'onn that it would be a boy
You had never seen the Martian smile so brightly
That's when you knew you had to escape
Your friends in the underground helped arrange an escape from you and you slipped away from your bodyguards when you went out to get groceries
An APB was out for you within the hour
Your friend got a call on her cellphone and he eyes widened
She handed the phone to you, "It's for you, girl."
You take it, "Hello?"
"You are in so much trouble."
"...How did you get this number?"
"You think I wasn't tracking your little rebel group? You thought you could get away from me? And take my son-"
Before the Martian could continue, you hang up
Then, all of your friends' phones ring
You pick up again
"What do you want?!"
"You. There is a black van headed to that rickety building you're in. I suggest you get into it."
"And if I don't?"
You could practically hear his smirk
Your friend's phone buzzed in your hand and you look at the message
It's a video clip
And it has you...with J'onn between your legs doing something very inappropriate
"That's one my favorites," J'onn's voice muses into your ear, "I've always found homemade pornography to be better than that scripted nonsense. Perhaps your friends will agree if I show them."
"No!"
"No?"
"I mean...please don't show that."
"Then you best do as your are told and get in that van. It is outside. We shall discuss your punishment later."
"Why are you doing this?"
"Because, my little activist, you belong to me. And you look so beautiful when you ride me, but..."
Your friends ask you what's wrong and you hear a horn beep outside
"From the minute I had you brought to me, you were trapped, (Y/N). You were the movement against us but now that you are.. marked by me, your friends' rebellion is no more - and they'll agree with me when they see these videos. Oh, you know they will. Now come outside and get. In. The fucking. Car."
You shakily hand your friend her phone, making sure to delete the video, and without a word, you leave your friends as they shout after you
Getting in the van, you sat quietly as the guards escorted you back to your new home and absorbed the gravity of the situation
You belonged to him.

I'm going to spell it out one more time for those of you who are lost and not registering the 100's of fuckin clues I've been dropping for you. So please pay close attention because I'm tired of repeating the same shit. 👇
YOU ARE WATCHING A MOVIE 🎬 📽️
A lot of what you are seeing is complete bullshit and fake. It's so outrageous on purpose to get your attention at this point and it will continue until it has accomplished the goal fully and arrest will be ongoing with or without you.
There isn't/and never was a Biden presidency. The real Biden was executed for his crimes long ago, along with Clinton and many other deep state goons. You can't arrest them if no crime has been committed and the minions are still committing crimes.
You are seeing actors. Some have masks. That's why Biden keeps referring to himself as the mask president. This means they are the good guys in this movie on the team of freedom.
This whole election was fake along with a fake inauguration.
Fake Biden executive orders.
Fake oval office.
It's all bullshit.
Wake up. 👀
The military right now is controlling our country until the new elections in the coming months. The Insurrection Act has been signed. Executive Orders from Trump are in full effect and I've pointed those out.
Things will soon be revealed publicly. Hopefully, you can wake up before then so you don't have a heart attack in the process.
They really tried stealing our election that part is real. Trump knew this and allowed it to happen to expose them and arrest those involved and he and the military will be implementing a blockchain fraud proof election system, which was already patented back in August 2020. He skipped the 9th circuit corrupt courts because they, too, were compromised and went 100% FISA. This whole thing has been a total military sting operation.
The goal was to arrest and remove these crooks first before ever winning an election. Furthermore, the Vatican owned the corrupt DC corporation, and that is no longer intact, it has been dismantled.
It will soon be a republic for which it stands under the constitution as originally intended. You will get a history lesson in the process along with a solid grasp of what the constitution actually is.
Many corrupt DC rats and Hollywood pedophiles have gone to jail and/or have been executed for crimes of high treason, conspiracy and other crimes against humanity. Many more are in the process of meeting justice via military tribunals as I'm posting this.
Things will be made public in due time, no more secrets, no more games.
There are many actors in this movie, not just the Biden double comedian guy. Who's who at this point is somewhat of a mystery. We don't know exactly who is who 100%. Some actors have been playing a part from the very beginning. Others flipped for a deal and are now playing a part in this movie to avoid the death penalty.
The best thing you can do right now is just wake up to the truth that's being shown to you, take heart and know that communists have no real power over our country and look forward to the things Trump has already pre-planned long ago for you.
I'll warn you now. Things WILL get stranger from here on out.
If you pay attention and listen to what I've been trying to tell you here, you'll start laughing at the ridiculousness of the whole production.
If you are watching the mockingbird media CNN or the other FAUX NEWS networks, you'll probably cry.
Whatever you do, please don't call Joe Biden the president. He really has been long gone, and his double has no power. And that ain't Kamala Harris.
Enjoy the show 🍿 As the federal government is being removed via the military.
https://rumble.com/v5cidlv-8.26.24-the-tipping-point-on-revolution.radio-with-l.t.-col.-riccardo-bosi.html?e9s=src_v1_ucp
If you people would listen to Riccardo Bosi in the above 👆 link you will see what I'm saying. The interview begins at the 1:11:11 mark it's about an hour long. Scott McKay talks about other things before bringing on Lt. Col. Bosi. I posted this 👆 earlier and I know people didn't listen to it. A lot of you are still stuck on the fake bullshit and if you wanna know the truth then put in the time required to learn it. I can't put this anymore clearly. 🤔
