hey there anon! yes I am still doing sleepover asks :)

okay see McShep is kinda funny for me because when i watched Stargate the first time, it was absolutely not obvious to me. I think I was pretty much focused on other things (Elizabeth and Elizabeth/John) so it completely eluded me. But in general I don't pick up on a lot of m/m things that fandom loves so much.

I think it was actually tumblr that brought it to my attention and i was like WOAH where the hell is all that coming from (yes, i was that oblivious to fandom history).

Now that I'm rewatching it with the Jumping Puddles I've gotta say that I see it. I see it now, but if I'm honest, the ship doesn't really do anything for me? And I think that has partly to do with my indifference towards John, to a lesser extend towards Rodney. I like both characters, I think especially Rodney is extremely interesting and he *is* important to me and my view of Atlantis, but neither of these two ever came close to being a blorbo to me.

That being said, I don't mind the ship, I think I have even incorporated them into my headcanon on some level but since my headcanon has a very different focus on the show they are more background characters if you know what i mean? I think somewhere in my head they are together and everyone knows it but their individal platonic relationship to the team and the rest of the expedition and Elizabeth are much more important to me.

TL:DR I'm aware of the ship, I can see the appeal to some extend, but in the end I don't reallllllly care about it

25. a piece of advice for taking care of yourself in fandom spaces

I have two pieces of advice basically that loop back into each other honestly.

Don't ultimately care about what anyone else says or thinks

Not caring about or trying to manage what other people think of you or your thoughts ≠ being rude or disrespectful, that doesn't mean it never happen - tone and frustration are absolutely real and I express the latter occasionally,

Other people are gonna ship things you don't or ship the same thing but in a way you don't like or just have opinions that are coming from a fundamentally different perspective or reading of the text and... none of it really matters. You don't have to conform to popular fandom if it doesn't fit what you think (that's basically been me in every fandom But TDP, so it's quite refreshing, and even then I very much felt like a lil island in the immediate s4 aftermath), you can ship whatever you want and so can anyone else. I think the most important thing with this is being self aware, though... like yeah I could hypothetically get annoyed over characters in TDP being childish, but coming-of-age stories are about kids and maturation, so like. I can vent in the proper tags but it may just mean the show isn't ultimately for me, y'know? Or at least that it's something I gotta learn to live with if I wanna engage with the show in a way that balances the salt and the sweetness

Additionally, one of the side effects I've found of being '''popular''' within TDP fandom is that my opinion will be taken as gospel or made out to be more than what it is, which is just my subjective opinion / interpretations, the same as anyone else's. Obviously I think my opinions are Right / grounded in the text (as do many people about their own opinions, whether they align with mine or not), but that doesn't mean everyone else is wrong, like... it's a children's cartoon show, if you're getting regularly butt hurt about what other people think or if they do or don't agree with you or whether ur ideas are popular or not you're not gonna have a good time, and fandom is a hobby. It's supposed to be a good time

Avoid taking things personally at all costs

In a similar vein to "don't care what anyone else thinks/says" that goes double for what they think or say about you / what you think. For me this means that unless I get 1) name dropped or 2) something that is so specific me it couldn't apply to someone else, I assume it's not about me. "Rayllum shippers / stans are so annoying"? Not about me and even if I am annoying - isn't everyone sometimes? Being annoying isn't a death sentence lol. "I hope the fandom takes this well"? Not about me. "People who defend S4 just can't admit TDP has flaws"? Not about me. "Snake boi Callum content is so dumb" is about a tag categorization I started for Callum's characterization, but has since more than taken on a life on its own... and isn't about me.

And even when it is personal, it says a lot more about what frustrates the OP or what they're trying to potentially wrangle than it does about me. Like someone disagrees with me or thinks I'm dumb, specifically? Okay, I know I've thought that about people on occasion, I try not to post it or make it obvious, but I can't control what you do. There were a couple of ZK bnf I thought were horrendously bad at meta that I knew by name bc they were everywhere, and it just meant forming my own atla communities/tags and/or stepping away from the fandom.

On a similar note, I'm still gonna keep doing my thing and I encourage people to block me and/or blacklist tags I use if they don't wanna see my stuff. I know how annoying it can be in fandom to feel like you still see stuff you don't want to if it's everywhere, which is also why I don't put all my stuff in the main tags either, but I'm not going to Stop Posting unless I... want to, which won't be happening.

I guess this all basically amounts to:

Focus on finding your people in fandom, cause they are out there

If you find yourself being annoyed by the fandom every day, or find yourself feeling like you have to rebut every little thing that annoys you (for ex, people saying they don't like Rayllum doesn't bother me, that's a neutral opinion. Ppl saying they shouldn't be in the show feels like more of a theme misread, however) work on stepping away and letting things go

Cultivate being fucking weird and unabashedly enthusiastic with self awareness. If you love a ship or headcanon or plot point that's fucking out there or clearly not happening, fucking go for it! Make or enjoy all the stuff for it you want. That said, maintaining awareness that the story doesn't need to go there in order to be good, or that there's not a lot of plausible grounding in canon, can be important especially if you want to connect with other fans.

Like CHET is my pet theory that has also been wildly fortunate enough to get a life of its own in the TDP / Rayllum fandom(s). I've been prepared to drop it three times. I think more than ever that's where the story is going in S7, and that there's a lot of continued setup for it / Something Like It, but I could be dead wrong, and I'm sure I will love if not prefer whatever route S7 would take instead. I love it, and I have a certain amount of attachment, but the story doesn't owe it to me, similarly to how I'm not owed in fandom to have people Like what I make or make what I like

Like respect should be given for sure unless I make a routine ass of myself, but again, I've been very fortunate that some stuff has caught on as much as it has because it clicked with other people who were already thinking the same thing, or found xyz idea made a lot of sense. And that's really nice! I think it's those things that help build a community. But in fandom you kind of have to be willing to be an Island first, and then if you get stuck being an island permanently, it may be worth reflecting on why sometimes — whether it's because of aggression, shyness, preference, or no real reason except your people haven't shown up yet

I'M ALIVE (BARELY) !! Work is kicking my ass. Also, lots of things went wrong for me this morning, but they all worked out in the end ?? Like I forgot to set my alarm, had to bring my mom's phone to her job bc she forgot it, my bus ended up running late because the doors would get stuck at stops. But I woke up on time, caught the bus after taking the phone, and made it early to work because the bus forgot to take the detour? My luck is insane (thanks Mammon.)

ANYWAY, i can no longer contain my thoughts about Mammon x Solomon x Mc. I'm just imagining my mc and Solomon who are both very curious, and love messing around with potions at purgatory hall, and finding alternatives to rare ingredients. This has definitely gone wrong a bunch of times (most days without a potion incident: 4)

and I'm imagining Mammon tagging along bc he misses mc and is jealous that Sol is taking up their time, but denies all claims - "I'm assigned to protect ya, ain't I?" "From Solomon?" "W-Well, he's a shady sorcerer!"

He sits on the floor by mc's feet, and will fetch them things because he can't say no to them. But he spends so much time listening to them brainstorm, he starts learning and will chime in randomly. Mc and Sol who are stuck on what to add, Mammon drops something in there, and they're both horrified until they realize the potion is perfect now. He just has a little database in his mind of what to add to something, and rare ingredients that the two wish they could get their hands on.

Thinking about Mammon doing a favor for a witch and she tells him to pick anything in her collection since she's low on money. He was about to be angry when he saw an ingredient that they've both been complaining is rare and hard to find. He asks the witch for that and then brings it to the two. He acts all nonchalant about it, trying to brush it off. Mc tackles him, meanwhile Solomon is in awe and staring with a twinkle in his eye.

Now Mammon starts requesting trades with witches, for a lower portion of grimm. Gets ingredients he knows they dream about, because the way mc and sol will get all giddy after he presents them with his earnings makes his stomach flip (he will never admit this)

"This is missing something" Solomon

"Yeah but I can't figure out what" MC

"Have you tried *insert seemingly common ingredient that doesn't work for most things*" Mammon

"But no one uses that, it's why we're always stuck with it" MC

"Couldn't hurt to try. See, watch." Mammon.

"WAIT, MAMMON DON'T- ... IT WORKED!?" Mc/Sol

OKAY but all of that sounds exactly like Mammon! I mean, he's super smart, he just doesn't usually bother to apply himself to anything. I'm curious about whether or not Solomon and Mammon would make a pact in this situation? I mean, if it's both of them and your MC that are in the relationship, do you think they would? AUGH I love coffee shop aus sooooooo much!!! I was very obsessed with the idea of barista!Mammon for a while, mostly because of a daily chat where he was working at a cafe and then got into a fight with customer. He's good at finances, so I think he could be pretty business minded if he wanted to be. So I was thinking about a situation where he owns his own cafe, but when the customers get rude with one of his fellow baristas, he gets into a fight with them lol. 15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? oh dear lord there's so many. Like every couple of weeks I contemplate going back to this wishverse au I wrote where buffy and angel survive the battle against the master and proceed to have a deeply fucked up relationship and ruin each others' lives. It was vaguely inspired by the silt verses and the wolf 359 minisode variations on a theme. It was kind of about aromanticism. It was mildly unhinged. And it will probably never be finished because I couldn't figure out a good direction to take it in. Pour one out.

16. What are your writing strengths? Imagery!! People always tell me my imagery is super vivid and memorable and you know what? They're right! I think I have a knack for coming up with imagery and metaphors and motifs and weaving them throughout my writing. Doesn't hurt that I edit my fics like they're academic essays so even if they're not interesting they at least always have strong throughlines

17. What are your writing weaknesses? hmmmm I feel like pacing is something I struggle with. Also while I think my imagery and metaphors are strong I also have a really hard time figuring out how like, subtle to make them? Like I just Do Not have an intuitive sense of what's too heavy-handed or what's too oblique, so I feel like it can end up leaning a bit on the obvious side. it's something I'm working on!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? It's not something I've ever really thought about, to be honest! Probably not something I'd do myself, but that's really just because I'd be likely to mess it up lol

19. First fandom you wrote for? Lost, which is truly something I can never live down. guys I really really like that one insanely underdeveloped ghost-talking guy

so for chidorky! so this is his weapon, it's called torment. :)

i'm still working out the details of how train masters weapons Work fully but basically i do know that you don't choose your weapon, your weapon chooses you lol. i think once you are nearing graduation at the train academy (it'll get a name i swear), you choose your weapon and start to train with it. all train masters have weapons because in doing train master work one of your biggest responsibilities is protecting the train from harm be it from disasters or Outside Threats. the city/trains can be a bit lawless and gang raids and Creature (idk what they are yet) attacks are common lol. the gems on torment glow when he uses it and its pretty special. i just still gotta figure out the whole thing lol. i do know that in Main Character fashion torment is pretty powerful and so many other train masters are surprised that he has it/it chose him.

hee i'm still working out hue and jihan (i'm doing literally every question from that ship ask i rb'd the other day to learn more about them & its been fun :D) so i'm gonna post that soon lol! but have a LARGE RAMBLE under the cut :D

when things were more stable between them god, they were really good. the two of them have been together for almost 20 years LMAO so they know each other extremely well & they're extremely comfortable around each other. comfortable, as in the can share a look over their kids heads and know what to do to fix or calm a situation. comfortable, as in jihan did hue's ties before work every day and hue has no clue how to tie one without him. comfortable, as in they're still so comfortable around each other. that hue finds it so hard to hold this distance between them after the entire divorce because jihan isn't a partner he fell out of love with, and it hurts how much he knows jihan still loves him. whenever he sees the kids or does something that he would do for hue like before but shies off it physically hurts hue because he still loves him too lol. hue is a MESS rn baybee and jihan is no better.

in terms of favorite things to do together, they love cuddling and napping together, but they're both also really competitive lol so a lot of their date nights were doing something game esque. bowling, paintball, quiz nights, "competitive karaoke" (LOL) they love to do things that get adrenaline pumping and are fun and silly. both being mostly nocturnal they also really like stargazing together :)

i haven't finished thinking about vampires/werewolves (and ig other supernatural creatures/witches) in this world yet BUT when i do i'll definitely tag ya!

so basically with the witch resurgence program, witches and real magic (that isn't species specific) had sort of dwindled out of the world several hundred years ago. people kind of accepted it and let bygones be bygones. however 20 years ago, human children suddenly started being born again with magical aptitude and prowess. got babies sneezing and blowing up buildings LMAO which is NOT GREAT. bc humans aren't necessarily equipped to handle this type of magical ability (though some continue to learn, other parents kind of view it as waaaay more than they can handle) so a special adoption agency was formed. wolves and were-creatures tend to take on a LOT of young witches bc pack bonding mentality, however other creatures will take them on as well. it works on both a volunteer & scouting basis which means there are families who do apply to take care of these babies, but other times if there isn't any volunteers or there's more demand than there are volunteers, those in the agency will seek out supernatural families or couples to see if they can foster children for a bit since the govt is still trying to grapple with this whole situation. that's what happened with hue and jihan (though they have formally adopted esther and ozzy). as a recently wed supernatural couple + one being a wolf & one being a vampire (who has known witches with magic in his lifetime) it made them great candidates to raise some witch kiddos if they were willing. hue, coming from a large family was down with it but he wasn't sure about how jihan would feel about starting a family. but jihan wants to do everything with hue, he loves him so dearly. so he was down to raise some kids lol. they were given esther first, who is a particularly powerful baby (and probably good that jihan, a pretty old fuck whos seen magic enough to know some bits and bobs about this) but her bio parents actually ended up having another child a few years later that ALSO had magic - ozzy. instead of separating the two sisters, they thought it'd be better to home them together so that's how they got ozzy. as the girls got older and their magic has become more stable, they started to meet with their bio parents. while they don't really view them as their mom and dad, they are creating a good budding relationship with them :D there's also talks of a magic school being in the works! though that's gonna be wild because... there hasn't been magic for so long so who's gonna teach it ?? lol?? so yeah that's just kind of the gist sorry this was so long;;;

the character everyone gets wrong

BATMAN. god. not even the actual writers can write a batman i can tolerate. there are like. maybe five(?) fanfic authors whose batman takes i actually enjoy? the others are so hit or miss. i barely even browse the tags anymore it's too much emotional effort to filter through the fics that are left even if i use stringent filters

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

that clark/bruce can't have a dad bod or be pudgy or be fat. like there are SO many artists who draw them in these ways, and also? Strength isn't defined by how dehydrated you are when you flex? you need fat to pad out the muscles, or else you're going to REALLY hurt after working out so much. yes, even clark. besides, the soft look is sweet. i like it a lot. i know i draw them a bit more on the 'hunk' side, but i will defend the dad bod/chubby/fat bruce and clark truthers to my death

10. worst part of fanon

the sheer number of people who try to heteronormify a literal gay pairing

no actually it's two things: clark being nothing more than an idiot (he's allowed his himbo moments but he's also very competent!!) and bruce being... abusive? verbally or physically?? there's like two sides of fanon bruce that i strongly hate: the bordering on abusive bruces and the bruces who are aggressively baby-ified. both are. not fun. a certain amount of pathetic is fine in a man, whatever, i love rene and he's a super pathetic man, but there's like there's a point when it stops being 'ah yeah just a sad little man' and starts being 'the author is REALLY piling shit onto him and putting ALL the responsibility on the other character to fix him'.

in THIS big of a fandom i feel like there isn't a lot that people ignore? like there's something for everybody, and i mean everybody. although i do feel like a disproportionate number of people prefer batman and the batfam over superman and the superfam and im really sad about that bc people automatically write them off as 'good is boring', and the canon writers often do the same. which like. guys. cmon. it's not 'boring' to put your entire (superpowered) might into uprooting the deeply entrenched weeds of oppressive systems in the world and looking forward to a brighter future. that's why we fight?? isn't it? so we can have a better tomorrow??? superman isn't boring at all, happiness and hope isn't boring. hope and happiness find meaning in knowing that they are not the default, that we have to work hard and struggle for it!! anyways. i do follow some people who talk about this so it's not entirely ignored, but like in the wider ship spaces i do NOT see enough people talking about this specific element of superman. i think they all just think he's hot. which i agree with. but i ALSO think he's cool and interesting and more than just his appearance.

As I said in DMs earlier, I think the only worthwhile KZ ship is Zero x the receptionist (preferably one-sided, but I think someone really smart could make it mutual. I certainly wouldn't be mad if it was confirmed mutual in canon, but I seriously doubt it - one-sided is way funnier, anyway.). I also kind of sort of in theory respect the hustle of people trying to write V and Snow (rarepairs... been there), but I think I could never see it that way; what we have in game of them is barely good enough for anything, which is what makes it hilarious. Like, I understand, you can't have a good portmanteau or anything when your ship has numbers, but half the ship is literally Zero (hehe another reason Zerocep[tionist] wins), however... the way you read it is not even conducive to a shipping read. One fifty? One hundred and fifty? Even the number doesn't want them together <3

There was a post somewhere in my KZ tag that actually puts my feelings better than I myself can, but I'll try anyway. Due to the way this game's plot\timeline is framed, all their past interaction is basically implied. They don't really get to exchange any words, no matter how awkward (compare this to the receptionist having the tiniest of character arcs, but still an arc, between the hotel and bunker stages) - Fifteen just shows up, confirms he's the real Dragon, kills the shit out of V, and leaves, and that right there is the closest we get to an interaction (surely you won't say Zero walking in on a conversation later counts?).

How the fuck can you wrangle a ship out of that?

Shulk and Fiora do not make sense romantically at all to me. They're family, ffs. Same for Shulk and Reyn, if not doubly same. But the fans keep insisting otherwise and often. (Libra, if you're reading this, this doesn't apply to you or other friends of mine that like Shiora. You're the only ones I trust with these two, I just want no part of it myself)

Shulk and Alvis are amazing, but need to be viewed through a lens more complex than typical shipping to be fully appreciated (something I'm still somewhat guilty of and recovering from. Jesus, wider XB1 fandom can be the worst sometimes).

Shulk and Melia as a ship by itself does not offend me, but the fans that weep about how Melia never had any good shit happen to her, and say Shulk not returning her feelings makes it worse... can die in a fire :)

I don't understand how people can take Reyn and Sharla seriously together tbh... but I guess it's more acceptable than the stuff above?

Rex and Nia (on their own, without Aegis in picture) never needed to be anything more than friends. The way Nia gets over being ''''friendzoned''' (hate that word) canonically is better than anything fans have come up with regarding this matter.

Lora and Jin have barely been interpreted by anyone in the wider fandom correctly (that I know of - key word 'barely'). Just stop at this point <3

...I won't be talking about XB3 ships because I heavily dislike XB3 and haven't read anything shippy for it, not even for NoahMio.

PS. Morag and Zeke should get more attention (personally I'm still guilty of somewhat ignoring this as a ship, but if I ever replay\rewatch, I'll be sure to analyze their interactions more, especially bc they're fun no matter how you look)

I have seen people interpret Ares and Dela (Brandish series) as a romantic ship, and I'd like to see just how much their brain has rotted.

Olivier and Mueller (Trails in the Sky) are very fun as a ship! I'd just like to see people view their relationship through a more neutral lens sometimes. However, the fact that Estelle x Kevin fics exist is the real mind-bender here. HOW? It's called being playful and keeping up a front!! (Also, Estelle x Anelace is slept on the same way as Zerocep and Moragzeke <333)

Frog x Magus and Lucca x Magus (Chrono Trigger) make equally little sense, and yet seem to be popular. Ew. Not even mentioning my personal beef with Frog x Lucca. Don't.

Midna x Link and Malon x Link (Zelda series) were actually my first NOTPs, largely because of annoying fans. I see now I was in the wrong and am largely 'thog dont caaare' about it, but still, important.

Ace Attorney series... tbh its fandom is weird about ships as a whole, but I'm guilty of falling into the Blackmadhi trap, so I can't speak. Almost everything other than Blackmadhi, though, is a tough sell largely bc of fandom.

Any ship involving Stocke from Radiant Historia has to be included in here. I am by and large respectful of most popular stuff with him (especially Stocke x Rosch and the Stocke x Sonja x Rosch OT3), I just think it's more fun to have him not into any of it. Very similar situation to Zero KZ, honestly.

If I have to read another untagged ship fic in the saguru tag that focuses on saguru not being loved, all bc the authors thought "oh but this fic isn't about the ship, it's about how unloved hakuba is" I'm gonna bite someone. Probably all these authors. One by one.

Please I promise, you are not the first person to write saguru in this concept, this is not a new idea, you are not special. I don't know if you truly think saguru is truly unlovable but for the love of god use some other dcmk character for this kind of concept pls it was interesting to read the first few times. It's getting real tired after the 20th time I see the same damn idea applied to the same damn character with the same damn conclusion.

And it's not even anything new. If it was something new, I probably would be bothered? As much? speaking of pairings, ever wonder why we all started writing, like, "harryxdraco"? because ff.net banned / in summaries. along with a bunch of other characters. banned them in the story proper as well so unless you know the workarounds your formatting is fucked

on the topic of summaries, the allowed length is ridiculously small. almost every story summary I've ever seen is cut off

looking back I think I can put together why so many 00s fandoms favored the idiosyncratic style of ship names. definitely made searching easier

also you couldn't request character tags at all until there were at least 500 fics in a fandom. then someone had to manually send a character list to the site admins and wait for approval. I recall one of my fandoms getting past 1000 and still no character tags, though IDK if that's because they weren't requested or weren't approved

then there's the completion tag. that didn't use to exist either. about the only workaround was to waste valuable summary space to add a giant **NOW COMPLETE** message, though not everyone bothered to do that

neither pairing tags nor completion tags were applied retroactively (which tbf would have been a lot of work) but they were both added too late in the site's history to be of real use

crossovers! you could tag any work as a crossover, but unless it was one of the most popular (ie teen titans x young justice or sailor moon x ranma*, and yes I know they look like ship names) there was no way to tag whatever you had crossed it over with. and a work posted in a crossover category didn't show up in the main pages for either work

c2 communities (which functioned as basically themed rec lists) were about the only workaround for actually finding fics based on what you wanted, but a) like everything else useful, they were introduced far too late to be of much usage and b) each user was allowed to curate ONE and only one community. there was a supposed justification for that but I called it BS even then

also of course there were the purges. sometimes for no reason. I feel like this is the one bit of ff.net crap that people tend to remember

so, i'm just gonna make a general, overall post about a bunch of the asks i've gotten that pertain to the core four instead of posting every single one. a lot of them mention the same things, and i just don't want to have to repeat myself over and over again.

first things first, i never said that disliking stas or kat (or any girl that snc are friends with for that matter) makes you misogynistic or jealous. the anon didn't say that either. we both said it is POSSIBLE that SOME of the ppl that don't like the girls are that way. maybe without even knowing it.

if you believe you have a legitimate reason for disliking them, that's great.

second, as a different anon pointed out, a lot of the content that stas and kat make gets poured over into the snc fandom (along with other fandoms) even if it has nothing to do with them. not to mention, but fans constantly ship stas and colby together. and i get it. it's super frustrating to see content from other ppl show up in snc's tags or whatnot, along with the shipping nonsense. that shit annoys me just as much as it annoys yall.

your gripe, however, is not with the girls. it's with the fans. and if you were complaining about the fans in your ask, then cool. props to you.

third, i'm gonna be honest, i genuinely think some of you won't be happy unless kat and stas are no longer in the picture. maybe you don't feel that way, and in that case this doesn't apply to you. but i do believe that some of you guys just can't accept the fact that sam and colby are friends with kat and stas, and bc they are friends, they are going to continue to make content with them. that means both on youtube and off.

which is why i said you just have to learn to tolerate them. you can hate them down to your very core if that's what pleases you, but you have to learn to accept that they are in snc's lives and that's not gonna change, no matter how much it upsets you. it's the same shit i have to do when it comes to brennen and colby's friendship.

but if you don't want to tolerate them, then i guess you're going to continue to be upset constantly for the foreseeable future. and if you're okay with that, by all means, keep doing you.

fourth, if you feel like stas and kat are using snc for clout just bc they post about them or like edits, i have to raise the question of did you feel that way about all of their friends? bc every single one of their friends have done something like that before (aka has used them in a way to gain followers). maybe not to the same extent, sure. you can make that argument. my thing is, those girls are going to gain followers regardless of if they post about snc or not. they are connected to snc, and anyone that is benefits. so then i have to ask another question which is do you just want stas and kat to never post/talk about snc outside of them hanging out in irl? but even then, some of you don't want them to post about them at all to the fans.

…i just genuinely want to know what scenario would make you the happiest. is it that they can all be friends, but they can't post about one another? or is it just stas and kat that have to follow that rule? bc if you're asking for four best friends to not post about one another, or to basically ignore each other's existence online, i just find that a bit silly to ask for.

i want to reiterate or at least state that in no way am i saying, at any given point in this post, that you can't dislike stas and kat. you can hate them for whatever reason. i also want to say that i don't think you're less than or are a terrible person for not liking them. i genuinely don't care if you like them or not. i don't look at you any different.

unless you say like really mean shit about them, like name-call or bully them. but literally 99% of you aren't like that so it's fine.

i say all of this bc i really wish you guys would just learn to not let it upset you as much. you don't deserve to get upset about things that aren't important. and i'm not saying this to patronize. i do legitimately mean it. things like stas and kat hanging out about snc don't matter. fandom culture shouldn't upset you so deeply. all of this should be fun for you. that's also why i said in other asks that maybe leaving is the best bet for some of you.

if you don't want to leave, then don't. stick around and try to have fun. and that might mean blocking stas and kat and limiting the amount of content you see from snc some days. on those days, maybe go back and watch older content. maybe find some friends in the fandom that feel the same way. this type of stuff shouldn't stress you out. this should be your escape from stress.

Actually i don't get Reki at all. Like even in the first ep he was worse even than Shadow and i'm not talking abt Cherry, Joe and Adam. And he was ok and loved skating. But like... if your friend is better than you, then you get depressed and making your friend feel guilty abt you not being good enough? I didn't even ship Reki and Langa, they are just giving me only friendship vibes, but i'm still sad, wtf writers did with his character?

Yeah, same. Like, sorry, I just don’t think Reki’s character can be redeemed for me personaly at this point.  

Like what should I even stand for in his character? I do not respect his life position at all. Like I dislike Makoto for being a shadow and not wanting anything in his life, but hey, at least he’s genuinely happy for Haru’s success. I adore Rin who never gave up and dove into the hardest challenge possible from the start to get on Haru’s level, cause he wanted to swim with him for the rest of his life and he got there. And then there’s this..  it’s like.. he loves to skate, but apparently not enough, cause his doesn’t want it, if he isn’t the best at it, so he’d rather... not skate at all? He wants to be as cool and on the same level with “naturally talented ones” and wants to compete with Langa, but he doesn’t want to do anything for it or search for his own unique style or smth to beat them in another way? And on top of that he’s also sad about seeing Langa succeeding? The whole thing is... like.. no, thank you?

Like are they really gonna go with the “you made me want to be great at this like you, but if only you are great at this, than screw both you and this?” lolz. Even if they will go with the psychological block bc of his friend’s injury, it’s gonna be lousy af now. It’s like is there even a route left which could make him look...ahem... presentable at this point? Idk.

I also was right about the fact that he’s the type who prolongs the whining instead of doing things, unlike some other characters who were in his position too; realistic maybe he is, but I don’t want it, honestly, like I see such things every day and I do not like it.

From what I’ve seen in the tag some are already trying to apply here like 50 mental disorders to excuse him and stuff like “it’s realistic” and at this point I’m honestly used to people on the internet using mental disorders not for spreading awareness, but bc they’re thinking it’s “trendy”, which is a cringe galore and shame on you. But it still makes me kinda sad all the time. Also there’s nothing unrealistic about not giving up and getting where you want, it’s just harder for, to say, “ordinary” people, that’s why most rarely choose this option (although it’s for you to decide if you’re ordinary or not, cause everyone can be extraordinary, you just need to find it in you). Anyways, drowning in a self pity is not the trait I’ve ever found appealing in people, along with the constant comparing yourself to others.

Sadly many prefer to use these excuses to get out of everything along with being lazy or jealous, esp the young generation. At this point, it’s like the same thing as with this other fandom. Like, sometimes when someone is trying to hit someone because he saw that he’s more talented than him, that just means that he’s an asshole, there’s no need to come up with ridiculous excuses to justify this and try to make him a hero. And sometimes ppl are just jealous, as simple as that. And no, not everyone is like that. At this point ppl on social media are like... fuck your hard-working characters, who are inspired by talent and do not give up on trying to prove yourself even if the whole world is against them. Let’s promote being emo and how it’s okay to spend your life on walking around telling everyone how you’re a useless trash, like this will help you in life.

Also if seeing someone succeed, esp your best friend, makes you sad, might want to reconsider the way of living your life. Just saying.

Also since when you have to be the best just to enjoy doing what you love doing? I’m like... personaly I do not get it. Looking at my vids 10 years ago they look like utter trash, but I tried and tried and yeah, I might not reach some levels of mega talented ppl, but hey, I’m still trying and searching for stuff I can improve all the time and watch talented ppl tutorials like “holy fuck, you can do that?”.

Sad part about this is that people like this also need a constant reassuring to the point of them just sucking your life out of you, too, so I honestly do not know how to deal with this life position. Ppl like this have a tendency to never be happy, so Langa would just have to run after him and feed him with compliments for the rest of his life to water his tiny self-esteem or say smth “don’t give up, don’t give up, fighting”? It’s like... well, ok. Friendship, yeah, but ship? Nah, not for me. Also I do not smell any huge romance there tbh, and from Reki’s side this is all just a mess tbh.

The saddest part was that he saw that Langa won after his yelling and he didn’t care for that. Like Rin was mopping bc he wanted to swim with Haru, so when he saw that Haru wanted to swim with him, too, that was it for him. And that’s the problem all the viewers who watched Free! got hit with while watching this. My DMs are literally all about “why do I not feel anything about them?” or “sometimes cute, but smth doesn’t hit me shipping wise”. Cause I think most expected for some reason that he would also put Langa first, but at the end, they’re not on the same track, bc their priorities are different.

I actually think it was just mistake for all of our Free! hommies including me to go at it from the wrong point of view and from the beginning expecting it shipping wise to be like that one other Utsumi’s work. I mean, she’s just a director there, not also on the storyboard or anything else. Should’ve gone watching it with a clear head. The main ship just does not hit any spots for me either. And my heart does not lie there at all. I do blame Free! for this, cause it’s like impossible to compare bc of those our scenes, I keep seeing, but at the same time, they do not hold up not to the dynamic, not to anything at this point. Like I do not know where they’re going with them, but this is just not my type of a ship in general and definitely not the one I can go crazy about. I honestly do not think 3 episodes can change that. It’s says a lot if at this point I do not even care much for their reconciliation, I’m like.. tell me about the seniors’ drama tho xD So I’ll stick with my side ships.

Also, unrelated to the question, but did Adam seriously just went and hit Cherry with a board in the face?!!!! (THE FUCK DUDE?) Like, this was definitely not how I thought this was gonna go. I also kinda felt like Cherry was in love with Adam in the past. All in all this was like a... strange episode, at this point I just feel sorry for my baby Langa, Joe and Cherry were very cute (esp at the end) and my god Cherry is hot, but like I also want something complex pls, so idk I’m  still waiting for the Adam/Tadashi shananigans.

At this point I’m like “I love watching this, but what am I watching?” haha supernatural skating soup opera it is then.

one- idk if this is unpopular as such bc I know a lot of people who share this opinion - and I want to preface this by saying I'll never try and dictate what someone does w/ their blog or their muse, this is just my perspective on the subject, you do you and all that - but I really, really don't like c.rossgen ships. now hear me out before you point at my favourite a.katsuki ship and call me a hypocrite, because yeah, k.akuh.ida is technically "c.rossgen" since one of them is ninety-fucking-one BUT I am specifically referring to any c.rossgen ships where either: the elder of the two knew the younger before they were an adult (even if they weren't super close, it's still a little weird) OR the age gap is.... significant. I'm not talking 5 or 10 years here, but much more than that. think j.iraiya and the rookies kinda age difference.

(I also don't view k.akuh.ida as c.rossgen for the simple reason that k.akuzu is "immortal" and hasn't physically aged since he went rogue so he's sorta got that v.ampire thing going on where it's that weird kinda grey area on the subject. it's also the only significant age gap ship I accept and only for that specific reason).

like I said before - I'm not judging people who do enjoy it and I'll never tell someone they can't do it. if that's what you want to write then go for it. just, for me, it's not something I want to do and I'm happy to simply block tags or look away. i will judge you on teacher/student ships tho. hard judge.

two- my muse does not have to like yours. my muse does not have to be nice to yours. I write some seriously shitty characters who are canonically Not Nice. I get that it can be difficult to interact with villain muses if yours is not, also, a villain, or otherwise associated with a particular villain character, but don't go into a thread expecting anything except who they are. don't lose interest just bc my muse was mean or brushed off your muse. unless we've discussed otherwise, that's what you're gonna get from characters who hate everyone. talk with the mun, try to find a direction to take the thread. I guarantee they'll appreciate the chance to play with their shitty-person muses.

but this also applies to any muse. a person isn't going to magically get along with everyone they meet (unless they're the main protagonist whose signature move is Talk No Jutsu) and everything doesn't have to be sunshine and rainbows. antagonistic threads can be difficult to write (particularly without direction or plotting) but they can also be super fun. it doesn't have to be super serious grrr-bark-bark-hate-you-so-much-i-wanna-kill-you. it can literally just be a years-long prank war bc your muse offended mine when they were kids and they have been Mortal Enemies ever since but it's always petty harmless stuff with no real malicious intent.

write with villains. write antagonistic threads. encourage them. there seems to be a real lack of this in the rpc and it's sad. explore everything and anything.
